Lithium ion battery charging system power cord overheated causing plug to melt. Power cord is rated at 120vac and 15 amps but current draw was ~20 amps. Vehicle is an electric scooter manufactured by z electric vehicles and the charging system is a vendor supplied portable charger. Scooter was parked outdoors in dry conditions at the time. A portable ammeter was clamped over the mains power cord and showed current fluctuating from 18-23 amps. Temperatures on the power cord plug were remotely measured at approximately 180 f before power was removed.## vin passed ## zev 7100lr 2014 ##
