My brand new 2007/2008 yamaha r6s was recently in for its 4k mile maintenance in the process of getting the bike serviced at the dealer (ride motorsports in woodinville, wa) the tech's said there was an abnormal noise coming from what they thought was the transmission and felt funny while on the test ride. They immediately informed me and asked what i wanted to do, i was shocked and said it is under warranty ? should not being acting this way and wanted it looked at asap. Ride said they would get to it asap --- while troubleshooting the bike they came to the point where they felt it was absolutely necessary to pull the engine and transmission. For disclaimer purposes they said if yamaha does not cover the work i would be responsible for the labor & parts. After much communication between the dealer and yamaha the service & parts was covered under warranty, they replaced 3 bend shift forks 1st, 2nd and replaced 2nd, 3rd, 5th, & 6th gear plus some misc transmission parts. Sensed the throttle bodies and said it was still noisy in 2nd gear and shifting was still sticky?. I have ridden numerous bikes plus have been riding for a while and have never trashed a bike; laid a bike down, etc ? i think this bike might have a problem or maybe a recall issue. The shop said to put some more miles on it and i should be fine. Yet i have put a couple more hundred miles on it still the bike is sticky at shifting off and on, smells like burning clutch, and still a little noisy. I am not really sure where to go with this or what to do next, i just want my bike to work/operate properly nonetheless this could cause an accident on other bikes if the transmission where to fail while riding.
