Battery is leaking battery acid and has damaged the swing arm, shocks, and the rear wheel.

Faulty battery, one of thousands on 1999 to 2002 yamaha yzf r6, leaked acid all over my bikes frame, subframe, reset, and shock, causing corrosion. It also leaked on the back of my gas tank under the seat where it is not visible unless the seat is taken off causing the paint to peel off and the tank to rust, almost all the way through. Also leaked on the chain causing corrosion probably weakening the chain. Yamaha has known about the faulty battery problem for years and made no attempt to let me or other r6 owners know about the problem voluntarily or attempt to replace the faulty part even after they redesigned the battery just to solve this exact problem.

I have the 2001 yamaha r6 with 3600 miles on it and the battery has leaked all over the back of my bike causing my swing arm, chain, shock to get acid all over them.

Yamaha 2001 r6 battery leaked all over shock, swingarm, gas tank, frame, chain, and rear wheel.the battery has never been on a battery charger, the bike has never been tipped or wheelied parked on an incline carried up a ramp or been strapped to a roller coaster doing loops so there is no apparent reason for a battery that is claimed not to leak.the bike only has 3583 miles and is well maintained.

Acid leak from the battery for unknown reason...i have not done any work or made any adjustments whatsoever to the battery...it is completely stock. It is leaking onto the ground and causing damage to my 2001 yamaha r6 along the way.

Battery leaking acid.

Due to a faulty battery i now have battery acid on my swingarm, shock, and chain. Thishas messed the cosmetics of my bike up badly. The faulty battery was not my fault, but yet yamaha will do nothing to fix it!

My 2001 yamaha r6 motorcycle is leaking battery acid causing damage to structural components of the motorcycle.

Consumer states bike's battery is leaking acid.

My 2001 yamaha yzf r6 has a battery leak, i know a lot of people thathad the same problem. When it leaked it damaged my swingarm, rear shock, and all related components. Yamaha since has secretively changed the design of the battery, and there are no recalls on older style battery, leaving the consumer with about 1700.00 dollars in damage.

My 2001 yamaha r6 is leaking battery acid all over my swingarm, shock, chain and footrest. Yamah will not recall this defective battery problem, although they have redesigned the batter with the vent holes in a different place to prevent the battery acid leak problem. They are hoping that the problem will occur after the 1-year warranty is expired so they can refuse to pay to replace the damaged parts and defective battery. Yamaha has a design flaw and it should be covered whether the warranty has expired or not. A faulty design should not be a warranty issue, but a recall issue. My $8000 motorcycle was in perfect condition and now it is ruined due to this problem, and my resale value is substantially effected.

I have a 2001 yahama yzf-r6 and the battery leaks acid onto the rear shock and swingarm.i felt it was dangerous so i replaced the battery, rear shock and swingarm.

2001 yahmaha r6 motorcycle with a defective battery, it causes the battery to leak on componets of the bike and leaves a permanent stain on the swingarm, shock and other areas. I did some research on this problem and found that it is a common occurence for this year.

My '01 yamaha r6 has a battery leak.ruined my swingarm and chain.stained it white.

As i'm riding the motorcycle it jumps out of second gear as i'm accelerating. This will be my 3rd transmission in 12000 miles. Something needs to be done. I do not abuse the motorcycle it causes the bike to rapidly decelerate and could cause me to lose control.

I am the owner of a 2001 yamaha r6 which is currently experiencing problems with 2nd gear.the bike is slipping in and out of gear in 2nd.i do not race, stunt ride or any other abusive riding so i don't understand what brought the problem on.i have done extensive research on this problem and there are a significant amount of yamaha 99-01 r6 owners who are having the same exact problems.i feel as though yamaha should take care of this problem since it seems to be a manufacturer defect.i appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide with this situation.

I have a 2001 yzfr6 and the 2nd gear is going out for the second time.i don't stunt ride or abuse my bike.i bought the bike brand new back in '01 and in 01 or 02 i had to replace the shifting forks for 2nd and 6th gear, also the gears themselves had to be replaced, 1500 dollars.yamaha said this was from riding abuse.summer of 05 *bike was parked for all of 04, 2nd gear started to slip again.i've heard from other sources that all r6's from 99-02 have this problem and it's because of a milling error in the transmission drum.since there is an error the 2nd gear shifting fork can't rest in the correct spot.

2nd gear slips.it happens everytime 2nd gear is used. It feels like the rear tire jumps and the bike jerks. I don't know what led up to this failure the bike was stored for a couple of years. The bike has 14000 miles and was never ridden hard. Nothing was done to correct this problem yet. This isn't my first bike and this problem never happened before.

My 2001 yamaha motorcycle has premature wear on the 2nd and 6th gear dog ears of the transmission.. Numerious other customers with 99 - 02 models of this motorcycle are experiencing the same problem, i have found out..the problem is yamaha is doing nothing to cover the problem saying it is either rider abuse or normal wear.when this is happening to responsible riding adults, they cannot make that claim.they also changed the 03 model of the bike to put extra dog ears on the 2nd and 6th gear only..they say this was just a routein change, but i bet not many complaints come in about 03 r6s.

2001 yamaha r6, hesitation in second gear. Happened at higher rpm's, as it got worse it happened through all of second gear almost causing me to lose control. I have to replace transmission, 2nd, 6th gear and shift fork. 99-02 r6's have had this problem. Many have had this problem, and yamaha won't fix.
