Loud whine and grinding sound in 3rd gear. Gear feels mushy and not engaging properly. Others have same complaint. With this year and model.
Third gear is making noise.
Normal driving, third gear started to make noise while riding down county road 5 in isanti minnesota traveling at 30 mph. Yamaha has already designed an alternate part for this defective one. Here is yamaha's replacement part listed on their dealer website - gear, 3rd pinion99999-03864-00(replaces 1d7-17131-01-00). There could be accidental death or injury if the transmission were to fail due to a defective third gear.
Motorcycle periodically stalls when stopping.rpm drops off, does not come back up and bike stalls. Sometimes will restart immediately.other times it is necessary to turn key off and back on.stalling incidents are sporatic and it may go months without recurring, or it may happen again immediately.on web forum, many others have experienced the same occuranceswith no one consistant and trackable cause.my latest occurance was 7/9/11.
