My 2013 yamaha xtz1200 super tenere has failed to decelerate when i shut the throttle off.the engine revved at over 3000 rpm.when in gear it would just keep accelerating unless the clutch was engaged, if engaged the engine would drop to about 1500 rpm, however when released the engine would again rev past 3000 rpm.when this occurred i to pulled off the road, killed the engine and restarted; it took a 5-7 restarts until the engine seems to run properly. On other occasions the engine will shut off completely when decelerating.i will be traveling and pull the clutch in for a red light, and the engine will just die.when at the light and i restart it the rpm will be around 900 or below and then just die again.when get it running i must feather the throttle to keep the engine running until i can get the vehicle in motion again.once these issues began to appear i began researching the issue and found that it is a common issue by the first generation xtz1200 owner (years 2010-2013).there is a forum for owners of this vehicle (all generations) where this issues has been discussed at length.here is a link to one such discussion: https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/no-idle-and-high-idle-problem.2895/the common fix that these other owners have found is the replacement of the main wiring harness.this is a dangerous issue.my bike has had no modifications and is at approximately 12200 miles.more importantly it is a safety issue!the first time the high rev issued happened was in the morning and i was in traffic in a school zone.children were being dropped off for school at the time.all times were on public roads, both city streets and on state roads where speeds range from 40-55 mph.date this happened sited below is for the high revving issue.the first low-no idle and stalling issue was mid-august.

The bike is dying whenever i try to come to a stop or slow down.anytime the rpm's drop below 1500 the bike will just die, not try and idle.this started happening end of may 2017 and just would happen once, and then after i restarted the bike it would run just fine all day no problems, and was very erratic when it would happen.now today (8.24.17) it happens all the time, whenever rpms get low.bike has 8100 miles on it, and is well cared for and maintained.bike is currently in the shop as they are trying to figure out what is going on.

While riding throttle eratic. Suddenly stop running. Hard to start at times

Engine surges at low rpm while riding. Creates a dangerous situation with sudden unexpected acceleration.

While riding throttle eratic. Suddenly stop running. Hard to start at times

Idle out of control.sometime to low stalling engine while making a turn resulting in a fall (happened 3 times),most of time the rpm raving to 3500 and stays there until the ignition is turned off.it happens completely randomly.i tried to get it fixed 3 times without success.there are videos on youtube showing people having the same problem:2013 super tenere idlle issue. Yamaha knows about that problem,i talked to a representative once, but, sadly, refused to take any responsibility,or just help me to solve the problem.

Motorcycle was in motion on highway, rear wheel spoke broke and caused severe damages to motorcycle (swing arm, exhaust and wheel)and unsafe conditions. I believe that spokes are failingduo to defects in materials or bad design. Yamaha declined safety issue and warranty coverage stating that wheels/spokes are wear and tear items, i spoke to yamaha representative several times by calling 1-800-962-7926. Pictures and service repair order from motorcycle service shop attached.
