Speedometer just started reading about three times the actual speed of the motorcycle.i now have no way of knowing the actual speed of the vehicle.
I would like to report a fuel pump failure on my 2008 yamaha wr250x with 6700 miles. I rode it to work and on my way home it was approximately 90 degrees and the fuel pump started cutting out. I tried stopping and filling up, letting the bike cool, waiting until cooler outside. Fuel pump continues to cut out. I have read several complaints on enthusiast websites and would like to add my complaint to help avoid someone being stranded somewhere.
I am submitting an incident report for a heat-related failure of the fuel pump that causes an engine stalling condition and a failure to re-start.this is a dangerous condition since my motorcycle quit while riding on the road and would not re-start until the motorcycle cooled.in traffic this would be a certain safety hazard.this is a widely known problem on this model motorcycle and its 'sister' model, the wr250x (google search will lead to many reports and information.)yamaha japan has issued a recall (http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/recall/mc/campaign/2009-05/fuel-pump/index.html) but has not done so in the us.please investigate before someone is injured.
