The contact owns a 2002 yamaha road star silverado motorcycle. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the engine rpms increased abnormlly and the rear wheel seized. The motorcycle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed to determine the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 53,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2002 yamaha xv16app-w road star silverado. When driving long distances, the vehicle would leak fuel from the carburetor overflow tubing onto the engine from the intake inside of the carburetor. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but an appropriate repair could not be found. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall. The failure mileage was 12,091.

I own a 2002 yamaha road star several times a day on the days that i drive my bike i experience a backfiring through carburetor i have brought it to several shops and each of them say the same thing that it's sticking valves and that roadsters are noted for this. If yamaha gets this complaint so much whyhaven't they done something about ? i have dropped my bike several times on slow turns when your in need of the power and then it gone and your in trouble and down you go .thank god for my engine guards the stop the bike from a lot of damage.

Just left work riding my 2002 yamaha v-star 1100 heard a whinning noise as i was decelerating, made it home and decided to take the bike to the shop, on my way to the shop the bike started shaking very badly had to pull over or i was going to eat the pavement this being my only transportation i was in '!@#$% creek. Found out through ashop that my middle gear drive shaft had snapped and is going to cost 2500 dollars need help could get it done for 1200 if a private mechanic that work on harleys to do it how could i get to work when it's 45 miles from my home?

On january 3, 2004 consumer received a recall letter regardingtransmission failure. Dealership did not havetheparts available to conduct recall repairs.

On january the 5, 2004 consumer received a recall letter regarding transmission. Dealership still does not havetheparts available to conductrecall repairs. Dealer was contacted, and theyindicated that they don't know when the part will be available.

On january 7, 2004 consumer received a recall letter regardingtransmission.dealership still did not havetheparts available to conductrecall repairs.dealer was contacted, anddealer indicated thatconsumer should wait untiljune 2004.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the bearings in the transmission had to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired yet the failure recurred in approximately one month. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. The vin was unavailable.

On january 9 2004 i received a recall letter from yamaha motor corporation,notifying me of a recall on my 2002 roadstar silverado vin#[xxx] because of transmission failurei was instructed by yamaha motor corp. Not to ride the motorcycle it is unsafe and dangerous.they said to take it to my local dealer and the necessary repairs would be made to make it safe in a timely manner.i took it to the dealer and it is feb 21 2004 and my bike still is not fixed the dealer has not fixed any bikes of yet yamaha motor corp. Has failed to provide parts as promised to solve the problem in a timely matter. I am still making a payment of $295.00 a month plus insurance and tags on a vehicle the manufacturer has deemed unsafe to ride.the dealer says he canteven give me an estimate when the work canbe done because yamaha motor corpis not releasing any parts for the repairs. Lack of parts to repair motorcycle to repair recall defect . I have waited 2 1/2 months. To get repaired no parts .was told i couldn't ride because it may cause death or injury. This my only mode of transport. Have almost lost my job because of this . I talk to dealer and yamaha cust. Support to no avail. Is it going to take legal action to get my motorcycle fixed. Or yamaha should replace it with a new one. Please help me with this my transmission is locked up.

Consumer received nhtsa recal 03v309000 concerning transmission failure.consumer contacted the dealer, who informed the consumer the parts were not available to repair the motorcycle.the parts will not be available for another two months.

Consumer contacted dealer, anddealer informed consumer that the parts were not available.consumer contacted the dealer again on april 08, 2004 to see if the parts were available,and dealer informedconsumer that the parts were not available.

Yamaha has recalled all '02 and '03 roadstars in a recall dated 9 jan 04. From info obtained from the nhtsa, yamaha issued a notice concerning this recall in aug '03, to affect 29,000+ motorcycles. As of this date 24 feb '04, the dealership in my area has not rec'd any repair kits, nor can they say when they are due. Yamaha in the mean time says we must not ride the motorcycles. This bike is costing me approx $300/mo +insurance t sit in my garage. Having no parts available or any timeframe to repair this hazardous conditions is not acceptable.

Consumer received recall notice from yamaha, but when motorcylce was sent for repairs to the dealership, they said that they're unable to perform repairs because yamaha hasn't sent the repair kits to the dealers. (nar)*la

The parts to performrecall 03v309000 repairs have not been available since january, 2004.dealership informed the consumer that the parts might be available in may, and they will be on a waiting list.motorcyclecould not bedriven until the recall repairswere performed.
