Consumer smelled gas from the engine. Fuel rail was leaking and dumping fuel onto theengine. Consumercontacted the dealer.

I have a 2001 yamaha road star midnight silverado that has an intermittent gas leak problem. It usually only happens when the engine is hot but not always. When trying to start the bike gas flows out of the carburetor down the engine and on to the ground. My friends 99 road star does the same and i have heard from several other owners that have this same problem. The bike will not start and acts like it is flooded as gas pours down the right side of the hot engine. The bike only starts after sitting for 10 to 20 minutes.
