My 2005 fz6 ran flawlessly till 4000 mile then the idle was dropping to 600-800 and then would just die.i would turn key off and turn key on again and restart and it would run fine.it happens twice a week.once on wet pavement it was feeling boggish i pulled clutch to see and it was 600-800 and died.i let out clutch and almost lost it.i read about several other owners experiencing same problem and some rumor it to the tps sensor.

I am aware of several dozen people who have had the same problem i am now having with failure of the throttle position sensor (tps) on a 2004-2005 yamaha fz6.this causes a new vehicle to run poorly and stall frequently until the part is replaced.

1) exhaust pipe turns red after normal use, gas tank vent line is above exhaust pipe, back fires2) fire hazard3) taken to shop and yamaha could not recreate problem and i was charged for diagnosis - the problem still existsyamaha does not acknowledge that their is a problem with this atv - they could not recreate the problem and therefore assume it does not exist, this atv has done this since i brought it home new from the dealer. The risk of fire or exploding is high since the exhaust pipe is very near the fuel vent.

Engine oil pan cracked after torquing drain plug to manufacturers spec. Have read many other complaints of this same occurrence. Contacted local dealer and yamaha america. Both declined knowledge of defect. Yamaha america was quite short, did not want to hear any details of the failure, just stated that there were no recalls, any defects were no longer under warranty.

1) 2005 yamaha yzf r1. Normal everyday riding for 10,000 miles.after work i warmed up my motorcycle to 170 deg f.2) when i slowed down the rpm's dropped under 1,000 and the motorcycle stalls/dies.it died 3 more times before i could get to a place to pull over.after i pulled over i got off my motorcycle and then let it idle.the idle was low but did not die.i then ride more and it happened 1 more time.i had to rev the engine to keep it from dying.i stopped and let the bike sit for over 1 hour.after i started it back up everything was running perfect again.i rode ~80 miles home with no problems.the next morning i started the motorcycle and let it warm up to 170 deg f again.i took off and when i was slowing down the bike jerked my forward and died.the bike almost fell over.it continued to do then when i test rode it around the block.i then parked it and drove my car to work.i began doing research on the internet and found that other riders also had my problem.after i got home i test rode my bike and everything is working fine.i also rode to work today with out any problems.this is common with a problem that i read about the 2004 yzf r1 also.it looks like the most common fix was replacing the upper and lower tps sensor.i called my dealer and he told me it was my throttle body not in sync.also from what i read was a missed diagnosed problem from yamaha.3) i am going to my dealer tomorrow to fix the "throttle body sync issue"please refer to this website and the roughly 100 other riders with the 2004/2005 model yamaha r1http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=98831&perpage=20&pagenumber=1.

I was riding home on my 2005 yamaha fz6 motorcycle, when the engine began idling very rough. I had to roll on the throttle to keep the engine from stalling. Then a few seconds later i pulled in the clutch and the engine stalled completely. I was not able to restart the engine after 4 attempts. Then i turned the ignition off, and turned it back on, and the engine started as if there was no problem. Obviously, turning the ignition off and back on is merely a band aid for this issue, and not a permanent solution.please refer to this website to learn of other fz6 owners that have experienced this issue. Motorcycle has been idling poorly and stalling when coming off interstate riding. Gas mileage has also been dropping. Only recently, motorcycle stalled in center lane of highway at traffic signal at night, would not restart. Received fault code 15 corresponding to throttle position sensor. Replaced part. Learned of several other 2005 fz6's with similar problem.
