During a demonstration of the operation of a stryker power pro xt and power cot loading system, it was noted that the two opposing pawls that spread apart and lock the foot of the cot to the main rail of the system, which in turn is fastened to the floor of the ambulance, were not engaging. In a crash this would allow the foot of the cot to swing or fall (if inverted). This in turn could mean a serious injury or death for the attendant or patient. After pulling up and down and side to side on the cot engagement of the lock was successful.
