I have an 05 weekend warrior fs2600 travel trailer.with the owners packet in the trailer was a manual for the alko brand axles which were installed on the trailer.on pg 30 of the manual it clearly states that the suspension points do not need to have period lubrication, but lubrication may be done if desired.during a pre-trip inspection i found a problem.the shackles which attach the passenger side rear spring to the equalizer had failed leaving the suspension integrity compromised is a pic of the failed parts. Http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4442971..you can clearly see that the rear springs is now detached at it's front point.here is another pic showing excessive wear on the equalizer pivot http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4453413 ..i honestly believe that the failure and wear could have been avoided or seriously reduced if the mfg. Recommended a period lube of these parts.this failure did not result in an accident or injury, but i see a real hazard.i have posted this problem on rv.net and found that i am not the only one to have this problem.i believe the alko company should amend there owners manual to state that lubrication of the suspension points on a regular basis is necessary to help avoid these failures and excessive wear.i have replaced these parts at my own expense to repair the trailer.as i removed the old parts i was alarmed at the wear on all of the friction surfaces of the suspension.i have replaced the suspension equalizers, shackles, and the bolts which attach these parts.
