Very low fuel efficiency approximately 13 mpg.dealer advised etc cleaned. The service was performed in winter 2004.the cleaning increased fuel efficiency to 15 mpg.total cost to me.

The radiator fan also failed, causing car to over heat and stall.other parts have been replaced,front end ball joints wear prematurely, transmission replaced at 75k, alternator replaced at 50k, steering problems, according to volvo of pleasanton, it was about to fail. Oh yeah, and a stupid bulb light sensor, numerous times kept failing. We have another 25k miles under warranty, the car has been essentially rebuilt. If you would like manitenance records, volvo of pleasanton, ca. Has everything. They really have given us outstanding service.

About 2 months ago i was driving about 65 mph when my volvo, year 2000, s70 started loosing power and a light came on, i believe it said egr.i pulled over and read the owners manual that said to turn the car off and turn it back on and it may reset itself.it did not.i turned around to come home and drove city streets.it would stall if i did not play with the pedalwhen i hit lights or made turns. I could only get the car to run at slow speeds as stepping on the pedal did not have an effect on acceleration.i made it home and the next day took it to the dealer for repair.it drove with the same problem to the dealer.they replaced a heavy cube about 10 inches x 4" x 3" that controlled something for about $700.

My volvo s80 t6 sedan (year 2000) stalled 2 times within one week. This happened when i slowed the vehicle to less than 10 miles per hour to pass through the ez pass lane of nj turnpike tolls.
Repair required to my volvo s80 (year 2000) throttle because "engine performance reduced". My charge from volvo dealer was $810.10. My understanding is that this problem is common to this model. Dealer told me that there were "thousands" of occurrences of this problem with this volvo model year. Nevertheless, dealer refuses to assume charge for fixing the problem until there is a recall.

While at a stop light consumer's vehicle was involved in arear enfd collision.consumer was wearing the seat belts, but during the collision locking mechanism failed to work.consumer sustained a fractured nose.
We were lucky, it happens with the car parked. If we were in the freeway it could have cost our lives. The car is now at the volvo dealer rusnak pasadena (ca) and they claim to be a common problem and they can not guarantee that it will not happen again (design problem?).

The steering failed, which made the vehicle hard to steer.
While driving my 2000 volvo s80 t6 on the freeway (at night) the power steering seemed to shut down and i could hardly move the steering wheel.this was very frightening and it was a miracle that i could make it off the freeway.vehicle was difficult to control.luckily, close to home and made it to my driveway.had the car towed to the dealer and requested diagnostic along with my 60,000 mile service.i've always had the car serviced per volvo's regular service schedule and meticulously maintain the car, as i'm a real estate agent and safety is so important -- i put clients in my car on a daily basis.service rep called me the next day to say my rack & pinion had failed and needed replaced, along with engine mounting bolts.i was dismayed, as the car gave no safety indicators (computerized) that anything was wrong prior to steering failure.i had noticed a little noise from the front suspension, but had previously replaced right side engine bolts.i called volvo usa after looking at the nhtsa web site and finding many, many complaints posted with my same problems.volvo usa told me that they had changed manufacturers for the rack and pinion since my 2000 s80 t6 was built but would not say why.this seems very suspicious.i also have had several occasions when backing the car out of the garage (cold engine), where the brakes fail to stop the car for several seconds (feet).this was also a complaint posted to the nhtsa site.i'm experiencing way too many problems with my volvo s80 and worry that there is an overall problem with the 2000 s80 cars.i believe these problems must be addressed by nhtsa and a recall is needed.customers must be warned before lives are lost!volvo presents these vehicles as safe and they are not!
Contacted dealer and was told my car not part of recall but would be repaired anyway. No safety defect listed in summary.

2000 volvo s-80 t6 started out by cutting off at traffic lights for no reason. Diagnostic test revealed multiple faults in etm.
I drive my vehicle and at random it looses speed, almost like it stutters for no apparent reason.
Dt: the contact statedvehicle stalled at highway speed.the engine did not die but operated at a reduced speed.the throttle light illuminated when this problem occurred.he took the vehicle to the dealer.the dealer determinedit was athrottle body problem. The dealer replaced the throttle body at a discounted price.since the repair there have been no further problems.updated 06/05/2006.
