Volvo tractors.consumer writes in regards to the automatic release piston on the vehicle 5th wheels.the consumer stated, there was a switch on the dash that could release the trailer, supposedly only when the parking brake was applied. Apparently, when starting out of an intersection, making a left turn on unstable roads or bumpy road conditions, the fifth wheel released the trailer and disconnected, dropping it on its nose. The driver of the tractor, was informed there was not enough play between the piston and the end of the rod connected to the release handle, the release piston could activate on left turns and unstable road conditions causing the disconnect. The consumer stated several disconnects have been reported. Updated 12/17/14.
The vehicles sleeper cab became filled with smoke due to a faulty control panel which caught fire, this was also responsible for the slow drain that existed since the truck was new.nlm
