The contact owns a 2006 volvo s60. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle became involved in a crash with another vehicle and the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact heard a loud bang and a burning odor emitted from the air bag. However, the air bag did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Etm fails causing me to limp home or has erratic throttle behavior, had repaired basically they just stated it had to be cleaned but the injectors where fine.after spending over $600.00 dollars now they are stating i need to spend another $600.00 on the part to replace because the motor is causing it to fail.i am usually driving down the road and then a message will display 'reduce engine performance causing me to go from 65 down to 40 miles per hour and i fear that one day it is going to cause and accident due to a mechanical failure on behalf of volvo etm fiasco.volvo has known this is a faulty design because back in 1999 to 2002 there was a recall and they were issued a 10 year warranty or 200,000 mile warranty after repeat failures.i am filing a complaint based on safety concerns and demand a recall and based on the same issue 'faulty design' and volvo has known this continues to be a problem.2006 seem to have a very high repair and this so happens to be one of those cars.thanks!

I was driving my 2006 volvo s60 and the engine shut off without warning.the electrical system shut off and i was not even able to put the flashers on so that other drivers could know that there was a problem. I was able to pull the car to the side of the road (with difficulty since the power steering no longer worked) and put the car in park and restart it.

I have made a recent complaint regarding safety concerns with a faulty etm (electronic throttle module) on my vehicle.i dropped it off at my local authorized dealer for volvo and i did not tell them that the car produced an error code p2135 / ecm-9200 -- throttle position sensor --faulty signal, because i wanted to see what error codes they would pull off.it is my understand even if i reset the 'check engine' light the dealer is able to pull the codes of the computer.well in this case the dealer called me today and advised me that no codes could be pulled but wanted to know if the person working on my car could take it home with him and take a reader.i said no, but i did not take my car there because i want something for free.i am beyond frustrated with the volvo because of the faulty design.what will it take next time for me to be on the freeway and driving and the error to be displayed and cause me to drop my speed down and get into an accident?i fear that day will come someday if not me someone else.

Engine throttle. Car slow down to a crawl while driving speed at 60 miles on highway , check engine light. Trying to find if a recall . Other must be having this problem . This is 2006 s60 volvo

In my 2006 volvo s60 the etm went out after only 48000 miles. The engine has a rough idle and won't go over 40 mph. It's in limp mode. A replacement for the etm is upwards of $1,000 and the dealer needs to be the one to service to mate the etm to the car. Looking on the forums and around it amazes me how common this problem is. The recall that was for 1999-2002 models should be extended to all model years that are affected by this faulty part to ensure that all volvo owners are safe from this potentially dangerous problem.

The electronic throttle module had to be replaced in my 2006 volvo s60.the car only has 72,702 miles!this is after having paid several hundred dollars to have the etm cleaned several months ago.the cost to replace the etm was over $800.as i search the internet, these cars seem to have problems with this particular part.it's ridiculous to think that i'm going to have to keep paying for this part, especially when the car is only 5 years old and has far less than 100,000 miles!!!i demand a recall and warranty replacement!the service manager at my local volvo dealership tells me these units need to be cleaned or serviced about every 30k miles.i have a copy of my receipt from this weeks service.this part should be covered under a warranty by the manufacturer!believe me, i'm active on the web and i'm going to tell everyone i know to stay away from volvos.

The contact owns a 2006 volvo s60.the contact stated that intermittently when attempting to start the vehicle it failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician could not duplicate the failure or provide a remedy. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 47,000.

Dt*:the contact stated while making a left u-turn at low speeds there was a knocking sound heard coming from the passenger side front near the tire.the dealer inspected and determined the link arm was broke in half and needed to be replaced.also, the coolant light illuminated and the sunroof would not open.the dealer determined there was a crack in the radiator and the sunroof module was inoperable, and both were replaced.

The passenger side light works intermittently this has been a slight issue since 2006 when i have had new lights installed on a regular basis. Despite me going to the dealer for over the last 11 years or so it is only getting more frequent in age. It is not the bulb but the wiring in the vehicle that is faulty. This can be dangerous especially when combined with the fog that the lights have put on the glass over the years. I have paid to have the fog removed twice and the wiring harness checked. After living in 5 different states i see this in almost every s60 in the mid 2000 always one head light out. It will come back on when you encounter a bump so it is a missed connection at some point in the wire harness.this creates such limited vision in night and i am constantly getting honked at. I have pulled over and jiggled the wires which will allow the light to work until you turn a corner, hit a bump or it just fades. I believe the headlamps should all be replaced and the wiring fixed this is such an issue in the evenings.

On my 2006 volvo s60 turbo, the headlight lenses cloudy due to oxidization. This is a safety and durability issue.

My complaint is against sylvania ultra headlights, purchased from autozone."the headlights failed shortly after 2 months, they are the most expensive headlights they sell (thinking they are the best) i purchased a pair. Had them replaced at alocal mechanic - they were installed correctly. - this action was repeated for 3 sets of replacements. The 4th time around i did not purchase headlights - i took it too the mechanic and asked him to check the wiring and replace the headlights yet again. The mechanic called autozone - they asked do you want the good ones or the bad ones ? the mechanic said looking at me - the good ones of coarse. Then the sales person on the phone described how sucky the other ones are to the mechanic. About 30 mins later - autozone delivered the headlights that were sylvania but not the ultra.when i was in autozone - they claimed these ultras are the best. These bogus ultra headlights are a safety hazard and it appears they know they are bad - i smell a scam being perpetrated against the public producing a safety hazard and unnecessary expense/rip off.

The contact owns a 2006 volvo s60. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact had to shift the gear to neutral, turn off and restart the vehicle in order to accelerate the vehicle out of the intersection. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new fuel pressure sensor. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 44,500.

A few months back, this vehicle was leaking gasoline from the area of fuel pump. The fuel pump is located under the rear seat of the vehicle, so there was also a strong odor inside the car. The vehicle fuel tank was filled just prior to this happening. So, for 20 miles, myself and my wife were subjected to gasoline fumes, and at the same time, raw gasoline was spilling underneath the car while driving. My repair shop diagnosed, and repaired car by installing a new fuel pump.after further investigation , i have found that volvo cars did recall, and repair some models of 2003 and 2005... Even my 2004 was reimbursed for this. I believe that volvo knows that's there is a part defect, not a part failure... This is a stationary, hard composite plastic that is the same culprit as the earlier years involved.i am asking the nhtsa to further investigate volvo cars to insure that no one else has this scare. It could have been catastrophic for myself and all others on the roads that day

Vehicle turns it self of while driving.i fell very unsafe driving this car, because someone might hit me from behind. The dealer tells me it's a fuel sensor module. It's a faulty part mentioned all over the internet.

My 2006 volvo s60 will not shift out of park when the vehicle is cold (after sitting outside overnight at temperatures below 45f).depending on how cold it is, it takes from 5 to 20 minutes for the vehicle to warm enough that i can shift it into drive.the dealer is unhelpful: i left it overnight for them to check.even though it would not shift for them, a service rep started it, not the technician so they would not do anything about it unless i take it back to them again.

My 2006 volvo s60 gets stuck in park.i properly start the vehicle, apply the brake and attempt to move the shifter out of park and it won't budge.my vehicle is still under warranty and was towed to a dealership where i was told i must have "wasted something sticky in the gear shaft". They never took anything apart or inspected the vehicle before making this determination.the vehicle will eventually come out of park after about 30 minutes of trying to shift the gear.once driving, the shifter can easily be moved to park, reverse, neutral, etc. While being driven!!!

Car type: volvo s60r model year 2006 (euro spec.) manual transmission. Technically near identical with volvo s60r sold in us market, except for lights and speedometer.temporary complete loss of brake power going uphill at moderate speed (+/- 30mph), when depressing clutch and attempting to brake. Occurred a number of times, under similar conditions. Under this condition, the braking distance becomes very very long. When it happens, it is accompanied by a sort of spring release noise that seems to come from the rear haldex coupling.would lead to accident in dense traffic.there seems to be a software interaction problem between the computer that controls the haldex awd system and the abs system.requires immediate attention as this intermittent failure can cause severe car crashes at intersections and pedestrian crossings.volvo is unable to find the problem as computer stores no fault codes.

This report concerns the failure of the parking brake assembly on mid 2000s volvo sedans and specifically, a 2006 volvo s60, 2.5t. Specifically, a de-lamination of the parking brake shoe assembly, which results in a tendency for a metal component of the shoe assembly to dislodge and jam between the brake pad and rotor, resulting in the brake suddenly locking up with no warning. While the event giving rise to this report occurred at approximately 20mph, at high speeds, a brake jam event of this nature could result in serious injury or death. The onset of the de-lamination of the parking brake shoe assembly occurs with no warning, other than a mild bumping noise when the vehicle is placed into reverse or drive at low speeds.upon inquiry to several volvo-specific repair shops, as well as multiple reports on online volvo-specific forums, this problem is known to be a relatively common issue after approximately 4-8 years of normal wear and/or 50,000-100,000 miles of use on the emergency brake shoes. However there is no service bulletin issued by volvo as to this problem.

Jan., 2007: car was towed to volvo dealership.after taking car to car wash in 14 degree weather, tire, brake pads or rotor froze, making the car undriveable.feb. 24, 2007: drove 45 minutes on highway during blowing snow. My car had been parked in my home garage. I parked car outside for 3 hours at my destination.driving the 45 minutes return trip, the steering wheel shook like i was holding onto a battering ram or jack hammer resulting in extremely rough driving. According to the dealership, the tire, brake pads or rotor froze and the freezing problem makes the tire(s) seem out of balance.the tires felt extremely out of balance.my hands were literally shaking like i had parkinsons.3/7/07: on my way to work after car was parked in my home garage, the tires or brakes, etc. Must have frozen again within ten minutes.i took the first highway exit to slow from 60 mph to try to get the steering wheel and car from shaking so much.dealership says this is "normal".i have had more incidents to a lesser extent where the steering wheel and car shook to a lesser extent. I am afraid of getting into an accident.this 2006 s60 volvo is less than one year old, bought new.the car is not fit for winter driving.another dealership told me the seizing up of the tire, brake or rotor could happen even in warm weather and they too said they see this often in volvos. It is a major problem that should be dealt with.

I first experienced this brake failure 2 years ago during an exit from a highway on an uphill off-ramp.when i pressed the brake pedal, there was absolutely no braking power.only after i lifted my foot from the brake and reapplied pressure did i have any braking power.this has only happened a few times and is very infrequent and random in its appearances, but is a recipe for disaster and is only a matter of time before someone is killed from it.there are multiple owners reporting the same failure.volvo has not provided a solution to correct this failure.

I own a 2006 volvo s60 r and i am filing a complaint for the loss of braking power when going uphill slowly or moderately fast. The condition will occur in any type of weather. Tires or brakes such as rotors and pads have no roll in the problem as reported by other owners and myself. My car has had this problem when it was brand new, with only a few thousand miles. The only way to get proper brake pressure back is to reapply the brakes again. I haven't been to the volvo dealership about the problem because there is no reported fix for this issue.

Turning radius is extremely short.impossible to make tight turns.dangerous to make turns when in heavy traffic or at times that turns must be made quickly.
