I came to a stop in heavy interstate traffic (35e north in st. Paul).just as the car was almost stopped, it revved-up/surged forward.i was afraid that the brake would not hold and we would hit the car in front of us.three young girls were in the car with me.the car has been clunking into gear at low speeds lately, hesitating from a cold start, almost cutting out when idling at stop lights and then revving up only to start the cycle over again.none of this happens at higher speeds.also today, when i put it into drive, it surged forward immediately and i had to push my foot very hard on the brake.i am scared of this car.i already replaced the transmission at 86,000 miles.now the second transmission only has 52,000 miles on it.this is a fatality waiting to happen.this transmission is criminal.
Cooling fan for motor defective, causing car to overheat and catch on fire.
I deployed the car jack as directed by the manufactureras indicated in the driver's manual.we had a flat in the right rear wheel.during the lifiting pocess, the knurled end of the screw opposite to the crank end failed.that is the end of the screw which serves topull the sissors together while pressure is applied to the sissors at the other end of the jack by the rotation of the screw in the threaded slider at the crank end of the sissors.it failed catastrophic way with a big bang, the car dropped onto the flat tire, and luckily i was not hurt.it would apperar that the jack is a hazzard and should be recalled and replaced.

Volvo xc 70 2001.would just disengage as in neutral, engine would roar.volvo dealer advised to get to a local mechanic since i'm 90 miles away from dealership.mechanic said transmission fluid completely burnt up, changed.took to volvo 8/8/09, checked it out, everything was fine.offered a software upgrade for $72.8/10/09 did the same thing, local mechanic said burnt worse than the first and changed again.driving back to ft. Collins, stalled on the interstate, had to call a tow track.upon investigation there are tons of posts on the internet with this problem, and notices in transmission shops.living 90 miles away i took my car to volvo for service more than necessary.theytold me they never changed the transmission fluid and have no guidelines (contrary to everything else i read, from 30k to 75k).i had a 90k tune up 12/08 & went in 6/09 for lube service.if these '01 cars are the biggest offenders, why didn't volvo mention it, change the fluid, mention the software upgrade?

Third time item failed. This time with cars coming at me at 45mph. All of a sudden the gas pedal would not do anything. Max speed was about 5-10 miles per hour in rush hour. Very scary and upsetting to me and my wife. This is a safety hazard when the car basically quits in the middle of the highway with cars coming up your tailpipe. Please investigate. I did report the other two times to you. They were not as scarry, this one really upset us.
