The contact called on behalf of her brother whom owned a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated that while her brother was driving he was involved in a vehicle accident in which the front driver's air bag exploded. The contact stated that the chemical powder from the air bag went into the driver's mouth and into his lungs. The powder has corroded his teeth, causing all his teeth to be extracted. His lungs were compromised and he also sustained injuries to his fingers and wrists, including chronic infections on his body and upper left shoulder and neck due to the seat belt. The driver has received extensive medical treatment since the vehicle accident. The contact was very concerned that her brother's current health issues were due to the air bags chemical component. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was totaled and was towed away by the insurance company. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.

The timing chain tensioner in this vehicle is known to fail and destroy engines.they have issued technical service bulletins on the issue, but have done nothing to resolve the issue for owners.my wife and child were in the car and the tensioner failed and the engine stopped in the middle of a busy freeway causing them to almost get rear ended by a semi truck.you can find the technical service bulletins here: http://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/tiguan/2009/tsbs/. I had to replace the engine due to a known issue.a recall is truly needed on this issue.many others have had the same issue happen to them.also my driver's side airbag failed and vw refuses to address this safety issue.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated and remained lit. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

Sunroof had defected drain tubes. Due to the drain tubes being defected, it caused a major leak in the sunroof and ended up flooding the inside of the car. Due to the flooding, it shorted out my passenger air bag. My passenger air bag is not functioning correctly. Also, the engine light keeps coming on even after the problems are fixed. The engine has been fixed numerous times and the problems still come back. The engine is faulty. Problems keep arising with the engine in general. I had the car looked at numerous times and its always the same problem being fixed

Vw 2009 airbag issue.there is a recall for the 2010-2014 tiguans.our car has the same airbag issue however the 2009 model is not covered.since the 2009 model is the same as the 2010-2014 models there should most likely be a recall for the 2009 model.

2009 tiguan 2.0 tsi all wheel drivein 2012 i discovered some wetness in the tiguan floor mat. (less then 3 years old car) i took it to vw dealership, they found a malfunction of the roof drain hose.the estimate was so high $700 that i figure well, i can live with a little wetness when it rains hard.2012 to 2015 the car was at pizza ardmore vw several times (the same dealership) due to an ongoing red and orange warning lights on the dashboard. "check engine"including malfunction of the airbag. In may 2015 the engine completely stopped running. "you need a new engine" i was told, without providing me with any explanation in spite of my request.how come 25,000 mile engine brakes? nearly $8,000 for a new engine on a six year old tiguan.two year later, the car stopped running again, the engine will not start, all electric are shot, no radio, no light, no airbags, no power, all gone. Back to piazza ardmore vw, the car was then declared total loss, it was too expensive to fix.it all happened for two reasons.the vw manufacturer production defect of the drain hose.and lousy piazza vw dealership neglected to detect and fix the problem twice before it was declared a total loss.

Panoramic sunroof is leaking. Causing flooding in the car and is affecting some electrical equipment in the car. Passenger airbag sensor is affected as well due to the flooding. The leaking from the sunroof happens when the car is stationary.

Drain tubes in the sunroof were corroded and leaking into the car. The water leak causes many electrical problems including short circuiting the passenger side airbag. The water leak is also causing lighting issues on inside of car. There is also many problems with the esc light coming on just after it being serviced. The esc light will come on while driving causing the car to slow down and wont let you accelerate.

Air bag light all of a sudden came without bumping-the engine idle were not normal high and low - electrical problem from the steering

Water leaks into roof and a pillar down the door into the floor on both sides of vehicles. Was washing the vehicle and saw water dripping in through the door into the vehicle. Noticed water pooling up in head liner above the a pillar, down through the trim of a pillar, down the dash between door and frame of car, into the floor. Since this vehicle has curtain airbags in the a pillar am worried about corrosion affecting the airbag operation or an electrical short of some kind. Water pooling can create an unsafe mold/mildew issue. The vehicle was stationary when this happened. This vehicles has a panoramic sun roof. Have searched the internet and there are multiple complaints of water damage, water leaking into the vehicle.

The turbo blew causing the car to stop in the middle of traffic. The blown turbo caused metal to go into my fuel system and oil. The air bag sensors are faulty. They cannot sense someone in the seats. The car had to be towed to a auto shop.due to the blown turbo, it will cost $5,500 to fix.

2009 vw tiguan.the wiring to both high and low beam lights is faulty.the insulation around the copper wiring to all lights has cracked off exposing the copper wiring.as a result the lights frequently do not work properly leaving me with a headlight that does not function.this is extremely dangerous when driving at night.the local vw dealerships fail to acknowledge the problem.which leads one to think that vw american fails to address the problem.this is not an isolated problem but widespread.replacing the bulb is only a temporary fix.the problems persists because of the faulty, cracking wire insulation.vw will charge $800. To replace both light systems.their reason for the high cost is the labor involved.they say the front bumper has to be taken off to complete the headlight lamp replacement.this is a factory defect that vw needs to address.wire insulation is not suppose to crack making the light inoperable.yet the dealership explanation says it's "due to wear".well, why aren't any of the other wiring systems under the hood cracking?because they are not suppose to. That's why.this is extremely frustrating to know that i have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to replace the headlight systems.someone please initiate some action.

I was on a city street in nova scotia with the family in vacation, i was driving like 50 km/h and epc light and engine light came on and on the dash board it said engine fault workshop . My car was starting to act weird , not taking speed , not changing gears my acceleration pedal was pushed at max and it seems like the car was loosing speed. I pull over on the side of the road turn engine off and wait for 4-5 min , when i star car again epc light was off only engine light remain on and no message on the board. Car seems to be good for driving. I reach at the camp ground where we wore and park the car. 20-30 min later my wife want to take a load of laundry to the camp laundry place and wash them, i give her the key for car and when she tried to start , the car wasn't starting. I unplug battery pug it back in nothing was working. I call a toe track to take the car to a vw shop in truro (vantage motors). They told me they fix the problem, they have to change a relay 460 under the driver dash and move a fuse #5 to #7 under the hood and they took the car for a test drive and everything was good, now i can come and pick the car from them 279$ bill. Because i was in a such a hurry to get back home in new brunswick i didn't check to see if car is fully operational, and i didn't have to, because they told me they took it for a test drive. Now on my way down to home i realize my fans are not working, cigarette plugs, windshield pumps on front and back, and windshield wiper on the back are not working, i call the vw shop in truro to find out what is the problem and if is a way for me to fix it.they told me it can be multiple problems to take the car when i reach home to my vw shop in st. John nb.

Hello -i started my 2009 vw tiguan on nov. 9, 2013. After placing the car in drive, all of my dashboard lights for "lighting failures" came on, a total of 8 different error messages - license plate lights, driver and passenger taillights, backup lights, front headlights, turn signals. At this point i was on the road, and quickly pulled over to the closest parking lot i could find. I was about to head on the highway. I immediately turned around and drove home and did some research. I opened the interior fuse panel, but that was ok. I went in under the hood and saw the 30 amp fuse was completely melted. (i took a picture, and have it for reference.)this could have been a very dangerous scenario, and there were no warning signs. I can't help but wonder how that fuse has impact the lighting system overall in my tiguan.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact was driving 40 mph when the driver's side headlight failed to operate properly. The vehicle was taken for inspection where the contact was informed that there was an electrical issue with the fuse. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available.the approximate mileage was 40,000.

After taking car in to be serviced for an out tail light it was brought to my attention that the fuse box was melting and causing this problem.service manager and internet search shows this is not an uncommon problem that vw is aware of.

For the 2nd time in less than a year, we had a front headlight go out, the bulb wasn't bad but the fuse was.the first time the fuse was blown and looked like it had slightly been melted.the most recent time this happened on 10/19/13 the fuse was almost totally melted and also slightly damaged the fuse next to it.this is a 2009 model and we've already had to replace the o2 sensor, accelerator coil and now two fuses for the headlights.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v441000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 100,000. Updated 07/01/16*ljupdated 11/21/2017

Smelled something burning. Passenger noticed their seat was hot. Discovered burn spots in the passenger seat.

The f16 fuse in the engine bay fuse box is completely melted resulting in failure of reverse lights, headlights, and other safety equipment.

The epc light came on many times between 2011 and 2014 and the electronic throttle kicked out of cruise control. Miller vw checked the car july 2011, did not have a solution and cleared the codes.i asked our local mechanic about it in july 2013 who identified that there was a tsb for the throttle body wiring harness.we continued to observe the intermittent epc fault response but experienced no problems. The first major incident occurred 28 june 2014 entering i-89 north when entering traffic the epc and engine fault lights came on and the engine lost all power just as we entered the travel lane.the car went into limp mode and would go no faster than 35 mphi switched off the engine while traveling which reset the throttle fault allowing us to continue traveling. This is a short ramp and there is no shoulder at the end of the ramp. I made an appointment for the car at walker vw to repair the car on 2 july.the service department was unable to make the repairs that day as they did not have all of the required parts on hand.on 22 july my wife was preparing to enter i-91 from route 5 south via a left turn on ramp when the epc and engine fault lights came on and the engine went into limp mode just as she was preparing to turn into the on ramp. A tractor trailer was rapidly overtaking her in that lane in a driving rain and the car would not exceed 20 mph. She turned on the flashers and the overtaking trucker veered into the right lane avoiding collision.i then made an appointment with our local car repair shop and trusted mechanic at kingdom imports.they ordered the parts and installed the replacement wiring iaw the tsb on 29 july 2014.even after ordering two complete sets of parts vw did not include the shrink tape required to stabilize the wiring. Vw has chosen the worst solution and should issue a recall and install a purpose built wiring harness.

Over the last three months: first-check engine and epc lights on and engine performance low. Second-fuel rail/system pressure too low. Third-battery light came on and vehicle did not have normal power (battery brand new oct12). Fourth-headlights went out multiple time over a two week period (bulbs brand new apr13).car is with vw now for melted fuse and melted fuse box.updated 09/17/13*ljthe consumer stated there were multiple electrical system dtcs. The fuse burnt at the connection and both relays due to an overheated condition.

The wiring inside the headlight assembly has insulation that degrades with the head generated by the low beam/daylight running lights.it becomes brittle and falls off creating bear wire shorting hazard.the light assemblies are such that the wiring cannot be accessed to replace with high temp insulation.vw only replaces w/ the same entire assembly which does not correct the hazard & costs $800 to replace both assemblies.i caught the defect when replacing a light bulb.this affects more than the tiguan model.

My vehicle has been having electrical problems with the throttle body system as well as the coolant hose which had to be replaced my radio goes blank to where i can't see my back up camera! this vehicle has to many electrical issues!

The timing chain jumped the safety and destroyed the engine and steering.the wiring under the front seats is corroded.the vehicle was stationary.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed a loud noise, no compression, and a metallic metal to metal noise coming from the engine. The engine would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v441000 (fuel system, gasoline) and 13v569000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v235000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 125,310.

Exterior lights went out completely on the right side of the car. Driving down the highway this could have been a dangerous situation. My fuse under the hood was melted and panel also shows signs of melting.

Driving on the hwy ,check engine light came on and epc light ,engine starts to run very rough, took it to thedealer ,they said it is a coil, replaced it,a week later the same thing happened again on the hwy doing 70 with family ,took it to the dealer, they said all the other 3 coils went bad at the same time!!!!!!i am really afraid to take this car for a long trip ,the other issue : the fuse melted causing the license brake light harness and trunk opening to fail twice .

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. While traveling 5 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle would not properly accelerate and begun to surge forward. The vehicle was shut off by the contact and would not restart. Prior to the surging, the contact noticed that the check engine light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the engine was replaced, however the contact was not informed what caused the engine failure. Two months after the repair, the contact was examining the vehicle and noticed that the main fuse box was melted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the fuse box was repaired. The current mileage was 50,000 and the failure mileage was 30,000. The vin was not available.k

While driving my car, the right low beam headlight went out and the dashboard warning light came on - i stopped the car and looked to see what headlight was out and noticed the right side low beam was out.i went back into the car to head home (only about three miles away 0 but at night), and the other light went out as well - both headlights (low beam) stopped working - i made an appointment with the dealership monday morning.i had previously received a recall letter and made an appointment two weeks ago to have this looked at - was told it was taken cared of but experienced issues there after.i just wanted this information recorded and make sure the lights do not fail because of a recall issue and safety concerns while driving with the family.

I was approaching my driveway in my 09 vw tiguanwhen the red power steering assist warning light came and steering wheel locked. I could not turn the car. Fortunately, i was not driving fast or i could have been in and accident or worse. There was no warning of the yellow light, the red came on and that was it. This is a very unsafe feature on the volkswagen that can kill someone. I have the vehicle in my driveway, waiting to be towed and repaired.

There is a panoramic sunroof leakage. Which has possibly cause electrical lighting outage. The leakage has also caused excessive condensation, causing visual impairment when driving.

I was taking my vehicle in for it's 40k service and the service tech's noticed several trouble codes.one of these codes was an open-circuit front headlight warning.when they checked the headlight (which i had recently replaced) other lights started shorting out.turns out the main fuse for all lights had shorted and that the fuse box itself had started to melt.this shorting and melting would have caused all the lights on the car to fail or incorrectly function including brake lights.luckily i did not find this out when someone ran into me, but instead luckily during a service check.researching on the web shows that this appears not to be uncommon.here are some example threads:http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5927373-fuse-box-left-low-beam-headlighthttp://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5618907-blown-fuse-causing-random-ext-lights-out-2009-tiguanhttp://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5891263-2009-tiguan-replaced-engine-fuse-box-no-esp-or-windshield-wipershttp://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5940918-melting-fuse-box-strikes-again!-%28the-40k-club..%29. *updated09-18-13

Apparently, the top portion of my fuse box melted when the temperatures in chicago reached 100 degrees.the effected area controls the lighting on the right side of the car, and may also impact the power steering and traction control.although the car is just out of warranty, this is a dangerous situation if the fuse box is not designed to withstand normal hot temperatures given that the entire car is impacted by the fuse box, loss of electronic controls in a car with computer technology that controls all of the functions of the car is a dangerous situation.thanks....updated 09-18-13

Tiguan. Purchased the car in december 2015 replaced the water pump in february 2016 and again in january 2017. The water pump on this car has been replaced 4 times in its lifetime. Vw should issue a recall and offer extended warranties to all owners of its cars.

2009 tiguan electrical problem - was driving in normal highway traffic during rush hour (average speed about 15mph) after moving a little i applied the breaks normally and as soon as the pedal was press the brake light came on with a loud beep. Electronic break was not touched nor the "auto hold" feature was engage. Vehicle appear to work properly but during the next 3 remaining miles more warning lights started to come on and stayed on. Brake light first, then airbag failure, then abs, the esc, power steering... After arriving home safely turned the car off and on, when turned on more warning lights came on and even one front headlight burned out (headlight could had been a coincidence but i will never know)took car to dealer and they said that a sensor was malfunctioning, they replace the sensor along with some other things. Since then the car has been working fine but seems that something is not quite right. Sometimes, windows and sunroof won't open or close unless car is turned off and back on, sometimes the lights won't come on when door is opened - seems like the car is completely dead when that happens but it starts normally. Abs seem to engage in circumstance that it shouldn't. Have taken it to the dealer a few times after that and they said the car is performing normally and they cannot see any problems with it, but i'm concern the car might fail any moment.

My headlights and daytime running lights would intermittently work and not work. Sometimes i would turn my car on and all of my lights would work, and other times all of them would fail, or just one side. Sometimes they would fail while driving. I took the car into royal automotive group in san francisco and they initially claimed it was bad bulbs, it took them 2 weeks to work out it was a faulty main fuse box. This was replaced under warranty but i have still had continuing problems with my headlights, indicators and day time running lights going out constantly dying out and requiring replacement.

Lighting fuses melted - had the vehicle in multiple times for light bulb issues, etc and had the radio swapped out and it still continues to go off and on. Lights worked here and there but seemed to always go out after driving a significant amount of time and usually at night and then after sitting would work again in the morning *until it was driven a bit* -lighting melted to the engine and was told all fuses needed to be replaced but the car continues to have issues with the electrical system.i called the dealership - a second dealership and then corporate office and no one would do anything to fix the issue and i was told they never heard of this happening - come to find out it is a common issue in these cars.

The front right headlamp and the rear right backup light on our 2009 tiguan have stopped working.the dealer says the fuse box is melting and needs to be replaced but they ccantguarantee it won't happen again. !this is a fire hazzard and ridiculous that vw wont fix it !!help !

A major short occurred in the fuse box, which created enough heat to cause melting damage - requiring replacement at great cost to me. It also caused many of the vehicle's lighting systems to be inoperative. In discussing the issue with other owners, it is clear that this is a common, recurring issue -- common enough that volkswagen service departments have stocked up on replacement fuse boxes so they are well-stocked to replace them when they come in. Volkswagen of america, however, refuses to acknowledge or correct the issue. Updated 9/19/13 most of the lights on the passenger side went out, except for the front driving light. The consumer received a warning on the dash, that the fog light, headlight, brake light, tail light and turn signals were all dead.

On july 2013 i was driving on turnpike the car start making loud noise and when i use the brake the noise was loudly,i slow down the noise decrees steady that was oil separator leaking vacuum.on 12-2013 epc light when on. I was driving the car start slow down w/ warning ,vw said ignition coil.on march 2014 epc again .on may 2014 epc again ," this time i almost had an accident",car could not go. I pull out and re started car again. My car stillthe wv services, and paid again. I contact volkswagen said you have extended guaranteed, that will cover for any repair, they don't care if they customer get kill.my car is not even 5 years to have any unsafe mechanical problems. I bought this car because is one the best, the first 3 years was fine, but now i 'don't know what to do. I still owed$ 12,000.

While driving down the highway in dark, snowy, and icy conditions with medium traffic, some of the vehicle lights went out and vw warning indicator came on saying multiple lights were out.after pulling over in a safe location, found right high beam, right low beam, right front blinker, right fog lamp, right rear blinker, and taillight out.upon further research and troubleshooting, found 30 amp lighting fuse in under-hood fuse box severely melted.additional research revealed that this is a common vw problem and should be recalled.

Drivers side head light went out took car to dealer for replacement and was told that the engine compartment fuse box was melting and it needed to be replaced which we did so that the car would not catch on fire at a cost of over $500.00.

Warnings and errors showed up on the dash board concerning headlight, blinker and brake-light outages.researched online, turns out the fuse box started melting causing one of the fuses to melt which caused the electrical malfunction with the lights.this can apparently cause a fire.

I own a 2009 vw tiguan. The car burst into flames this morning after the check engine light went on while my pregnant wife was driving the car this morning.the car has been maintained by vw and had roughly 22,000 miles on it.i bought the car from evanston autobarn vw in 2010 and serviced it at fletcher jones vw of chicago.i filed an insurance claim this morning and contacted both vw dealerships and your 24 hour help line.vw has been zero help to us.everyone said to call my insurance company.this is not an insurance issue.there was no collision.this car simply burst into flames while being driven. Chicago police department and fire department was involved and the report # is ht535806.

Car would not start or even turn over. Battery was fine and firmly connected. Lights all came on. No error messages. On third or fourth try, it started right up. I backed the car out of driveway onto my street with distant approaching traffic. I shifted from reverse to drive and the car began to move forward and left, then with a loud clunk it died completely, engine off, all lights dark. Now in danger from the not-so-distant oncoming traffic, i tried to restart. Same trouble as before---no reponse but the all lights came on. Two or three tries and then it started. The same thing occurred the following morning.no oil dump or any other fluid.unknown cause. Vw dealershsip unable to recreate the problem and thus unable to diagnose.the dying while in motion problem is a potentially injury-causing or even fatal hazard.

A 30 amp fuse melted inside the fuse box, causing my right side high and low beam, fog light, and turn signal, along with the right half of all my tail and brake lights to stop working. Updated 09/17/13*ljthe consumer stated the fuse box was not repaired. The fuse was replaced and was being carefully monitored to ensure it was not melting.

I was driving and got the lamp out warning. More than a few lights were out. Went to the fuse block under the hood and found a bad fuse and melting fuse block. I replaced the fuse with a store bought replacement. The block still is some what melted. I believe this is a fire hazard not to mention unsafe situation at night.

Car was driven to from friends house to grandmothers house and shut car off and was visiting family for 1 hour to1 1/2 hours. Then got in car and tried to start vehicle and the timing jumped and made a load grinding noise and wouldn't start. Itbent the valves in the engine ran into the pistons. An ruined the motor. (111778 miles) had to have a new motor put in cost $7801.54.

While driving (regardless of speed), the car will randomly unlock and lock itself.sometimes it happens in rapid succession 2-3 times'in other instances, it'll happen just once....which is to say they'll unlock only.when this happens, i will lock the door again, and it'll unlock again.it happens to both the front drivers side and front passenger side. I haven't noticed this happened while the car is parked and there's absolutely no consistency to it. This has been occurring for the last 3 years randomly and i just recently thought to report it.

Engine seized at just over 117,000 miles.replaced the engine with a new used one and it seized again not even 4 months after the new used engine was replaced.

On a cross country road trip, my 2009 vw tiguan was running perfectly. Stopped at a rest stop, and when tried to restart car, it rattled severely and the engine light went on. Vehicle was towed to vw service, and i was told i needed an engine replacement, due to a failed timing chain tensioner. It cost me $5800, along with 5 days of lodging while waiting for repair. The vw dealer supported the fact that i should get reimbursed by vw. My vehicle had a perfect maintenance record. There is nothing in the manual pertaining to maintenance requirement for timing chain/tensioner. All it takes is a quick search on the internet to see the unbelievable amount of cases and complaints, even to vehicles with as low as 10,000 miles. There is apparently a new tensioner service kit available to avoid the catastrophic damage, but vw has not notified customers. This is absolutely a safety issue. My wife or i could have been traveling in a remote area with no cell reception, which is often the case.it is also unacceptable to put the financial burden on customers when it could be avoided. This needs to be a recall. This is a canadian vehicle, but the breakdown occurred in ny state. This should be a north american recall.

I brought my tiguan in due to an engine leak and to have an engine diagnostic. They indicated the main rear main seal was leaking. 700 plus dollars. Repaired the seal the leak stopped but the low engine pressure light would not go off. The then indicated that the tensioner arm was bad and that needed to be replaced. I received a call the next day that the tensioner was bad but the tensioner chain had walked off the rocker arm and that the engine needs to be replaced. I called multiple times to volkswagen customer care multiple times and they responded that they cant help with anything. I have researched the tensioner arm through google and found pages and pages of blogs with people that have experienced the same issue with the tensioner arm failing resulting in engine failure.

The timing tensioner went bad and cause damage to the engine which now needs replaced at around $7k-$8k.this was a known issue by vw and there are class action lawsuits out there.i called vw of america and they refused to even help with this issue due to the fact the warranty was expired and there are no recalls on the vehicle.how could there be no recalls on a car that they knowingly had issues with the timing tensioner?i cannot find anything on the nhtsa site though on some forums others have stated a file number for the same issue.i just think vw should stand up and take care of a problem they knew about a long time ago.

Vehicle stared to run ruff and stall causing a driving hazard. Vw dealer repair facilitate clammed that it was front crank seal p/n 06l-103-085-b cost of part $11.30. After replacing the seal the dealer then claimed that the pvc valve was bad also p/n 06h-103-495-ac $201.30. It is known that when this part fails that it will cause the seal to fail as well. Total cost of repair was $774.07. This vehicle had 66,973 miles. This is a major failure of the vehicle and cause a dangerous condition. The type of failure should not occur on an engine with such low mileage.

My vehicle has been having electrical problems with the throttle body system as well as the coolant hose which had to be replaced my radio goes blank to where i can't see my back up camera! this vehicle has to many electrical issues!

I was in downtown denver, colorado on 2/14/2017. I started the car, pulled into traffic and the car started jumping, all warning lights went on and i turned off the engine.it wouldn't start, was towed to a garage where the mechanic reported that the timing mechanism had slipped and damaged the engine.when he examined it further he realized it was beyond repair and that i needed a new engine.

For a week, there was a rattling sound when i started my car that usually stopped after a few seconds of running.on 04/05/14, i heard the rattling sound the entire time when driving.when i stopped, my vehicle cutoff and would not restart.the vehicle was towed to repair shop where the mechanic told me there was no compression in the engine.he later explained the timing chain tensioner broke which caused valves in the engine to bend.researching the internet, i noticed the same exact diagnosis was given to several other consumers of the same year, make and model. Some of whom had the misfortune of having their vehicles cutoff on the highway.

Timing chain issue: on nov 18 2015 my wife was driving from work when suddenly the car suddenly stalled. Car was towed to vw dealership in irving tx,where they did diagnostics and concluded that the timing chain slipped out and broke the cylinder head. The total cost was fixing that was around 5000$. The dealership told me that they were no recall on the timing chain issue and i should call vw of america, which i did. I asked them why the dealership whenever i take the car for service didnt not request i change the timing chain. According to them timing chain is not part of the routine service because its supposed to last the life of the car. The vw representative told me i should go ahead and fix the car and whenever they have a recall on the issue they will refund me the fixing cost. Now i am stuck withvehicle in my driveway because i cannot afford to fix the vehicle. And vw will not cover the costs even though they are selling a vehicle which they state the timing chain doesnt need to be changed.

On engine start up, the check engine light came on.after driving it a short while, the car would not start again.had it towed to a qualified mechanic who diagnosed that the timing chain tensioner failed and the engine jumped time, causing catastrophic damage to the cylinder head and pistons.mechanic estimated a repair cost of approximately $6000.00 to replace the engine with a used one.the car had less than 100k miles but the repair would have cost more than it was worth.volkswagen will not pay for the repair, even through a class-action lawsuit was settled against them for this issue, since the deadline for applying was 6 months prior to this incident.

Today is the 17th of december and for the 2nd time in 4 months the coolant light has gone off in the car.the first time it happened was towards the end of august (i just purchased the vehicle a few weeks earlier).when taken to the dealer service department the problem was the water pump went bad.after the mechanic said it was still cover under warranty they replaced it.today the coolant light went off again, same issue has before.after checking the car fax the first time it happened, this is the 5th water pump replaced in the car in 2 years. Today calling the dealership, the person at the dealership has said there are quite few tiguans that have come in with the same issue the last few weeks.researching the issue online there are indications that this is a problematic issue that has not been addressed by volkswagen.the warranty for the part only covers a year and 12000 miles.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate from a stop position. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to van horn nissan of sheboygan (5515 racetrack rd, sheboygan, wi 53081, (920) 457-8844) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain and cylinders needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,082.

On oct. 24, 2015 when i tried to start my car, it shook, idled roughly and stalled.i tried again and it wouldn't start.i had the car towed to my volkswagen dealer.they checked it and told me the timing chair had broken causing catastrophic damage to the engine.the estimate for repairs was $4952.29.and if the engine had to be replaced, it would be $6500.volkswagen of america group would pay nothing toward the repair claiming it was out of warranty.(the power train warranty was 5 years/60,000 miles.)the car had 49,000 miles, but was over the 5 year time period.but a timing chain should be good for the life of the car; unless there is a defective part.you have a tsb (tb-15-12-01 -nhtsa id number: 10045560) on the "tensioner" which causes the chain to become loose, skip and break.moreover, there are numerous complaints on your site about this exact issue.volkswagen failed to notify customers of this defect and there was no recall.this is a ticking time bomb that can result in a serious accident.the day before this happened, i was travelling on the florida turnpike for 8 hours at the posted speed of 70 mph.if the chain had broken during that time, it could have resulted in a fatal accident involving me and/or others.why hasn't there been a recall?why should volkswagen be allowed to put my life and the lives of others at risk?why should i have to pay for volkswagen's negligence when they were aware of this issue for almost 3 years?this defect has the potential to kill.does someone have to die before you will take action to require volkswagen to fix this problem?

Engine was leaking oil onto ground in several locations near the front of the vehicle. No check engine light or any other warning system indicated a problem. Took vehicle in for service and found the rear main seal was the cause for the leak. Rear main seal was replaced and test drive indicated that this was the primary leak source. Subsequently, two other minor leaks were found and repaired to the oil return line o-ring and the engine vacuum pump gasket respectively.

Vehicle completely stopped while i was driving on the freeway.i was in the far left lane, and the engine failed and i was not able to move to the right shoulder.i put my hazards on and called for assistance.while on the phone it was clear that i was not in a safe position, so myself and my passenger exited the vehicle when there was a break in traffic.we were able to get across to the right side of the road, behind a guardrail.while on the phone with 911 someone slammed into the back of my car, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Luckily no one was injured, and no other cars were affected.both vehicles were inoperable and had to be towed from the scene.i was told by the volkswagen dealership that an engine coil broke off, and backfed into the harness, causing the engine to fail.in addition, i had just been to the dealer for an oil change that morning, and had driven 8 miles when the incident happened.the dealer says there is no relationship, and that engine parts failed.i am concerned that there is a defect with this part, as i have very low mileage on the vehicle.this incident put me in an extremely unsafe situation, and i want to report this in order to find out if this is a defective piece, so that this does not happen to anyone else.

The timing chain jumped the safety and destroyed the engine and steering.the wiring under the front seats is corroded.the vehicle was stationary.

The timing chain tensioner failed causing catastrophic damage to the engine.the cost to repair my engine is $8,000.i was lucky that i was parked, ithappened when i started the car.others have failed while driving causing loss of control of the vehicle.the vehicle cannot be driven after the failure.volkwagen is aware of the issue.they currently are producing the 4th version of the part.the current part number is 06k-109-467-k.

Noticed oil leak on otherwise spotless driveway a few days after 100k service at vw dealership. Returned to dealer where rear main seal was identified as the source. Estimate was $1400 total cost to repair along with oil hoses to turbo. Discussed details and frequency of rms repair with tech, since transmission has to be removed. Also researched vw forum threads on rms failure to find that 2008+ model vws are most affected, 2009 tiguans in particular. Of the 13 complaints on the nhtsa site regarding failed rear main seals on vws, more than half (7 of 13 = 54%) are from owners of 2009 tiguans. (3 of 13 complaints were for 2009 passats, with 1 each for a 2009 cc, a 2011 tiguan, and a 2012 jetta.). Even with this small sampling, having 54% of the rms failures affecting the same model (tiguan) of the same model year (2009) is more than a coincidence. It shows a trend. Volkswagen of america acknowledges no such trend, and vw customer care refuses any responsibility beyond warranty.

Coolant pump went out jan 25 2015. I had purchased car used from a non vw dealer but took to it to a vw dealerto repair. They replaced for $750.00. I researched further on carfax and found the pump had been replaced already by another vw dealership within the previous 12 months. I contacted vw and had to fight with them to cover my repair when it should have been part of the warranty with previous repair. They did refund my money. It is now 2 months later, 3/25/2015 and i am again experiencing a coolant leak.

The rear main seal on my 09 tiguan 2.0 tsi blew at 709k miles from pcv valve defect.i have heard of several cases of the pcv clogging on the tsi engine cars sending boost pressure into crankcase and blowing the seal.

Air bag light all of a sudden came without bumping-the engine idle were not normal high and low - electrical problem from the steering

The cam timing tensioner failed when tried to start the engine. Check the problem online and find out a couple of same issue in volkswagen vehicles. The car is over 5-year warranty but still in 60k miles warranty. Volkswagen of the united states doesn't want to give any financial assistance. Just after 5 years of new car warranty the car got this critical issue in engine, i think this would be an essential design defect from vw.

Was traveling just off i270 outside of columbus ohon friday 7/17/2015 when the real main engine seal failed causing a dump of the engine oil and a warning to immediately stop the engine due to lack of oil pressure.there was no prior warning at all. If had been on the interstate could have put us at risk due to the abrupt failure. Have been researching this problem and have found many other owners of this vehicle and engine (2.0 tsi 2009 on) in other vw's that this is a common problem in the range of 80 to 100k miles.finally had to have the car flatbedded to a local dealer where the engine was declared unrepairable and had to be replaced out of warranty at a cost of over $7,000.

Timing chain tensioner broke and caused catastrophic engine damage. Vw quoted me more than $8,000 to fix and vw america accepts no responsibility. This car was impeccably maintained and replacing/servicing the timing chain is not on their maintenance schedule. The check engine light went on while driving home from work at 121,000 miles and was driven to the mechanic, as we already had an oil changed scheduled. When the mechanic went to start the car to replace the cam sensor (what the computer/engine indicated was the problem), the car wouldn't start. I then had to have the car towed to local vw dealer, where they tried to get me to buy a new car. When i called vw america, they refuse to acknowledge the fact that the tensioner has a faulty design and only say that they cannot help with the cost of the repair since the car is outside its warranty.

The main rear seal of the engine failed. Engine gushing oil and loss of engine power.the engine seal should last the life of the vehicle.

On monday evening 02/13/2017 in downtown denver, co, i started my car and pulled into traffic when the car began to jump violently and all warning lights went on.i shut the engine off and it wouldn't start again.i had it towed to the garage where it had been serviced the preceding week.the mechanic called later to say that the engine was damaged because the timing mechanism had slipped but that he would have to pull the engine to evaluate the extent of the damage.later on the next week, he reported that the engine was damaged beyond repair and that i would need a replacement engine.there was a wait of several days and time to do the work.i got my car back in running condition on 2/24/2017 after paying $6776.94 for the repairs.

Car stopped and would not start due to timing chain tensioner fualt with code p0016. Caused complete engine failure and the need to completely rebuild the top end of the engine. This was verified after a complete loss of compression due to the valves being destroyed on the engine.

Large pool of motor oil under the left side of the engine. Dealer inspected and informed me of a failed rear main seal caused high crankcase pressure buildupdue to a stuck (closed) pvc valve.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. While at a traffic light, the contact noticed that the vehicle would not idle. When the failure occurred, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 170410920. The contact was informed that the vehicle had no recalls for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

Vw tiguan 09 purchased as new. Only 50k miles on it when check engine light was encountered.soon after (last week, nov 25 2019), engine stalled while accelerating out of second gear and was seized.independent mechanic said it would cost 5,800 to rebuild engine.while doing my own independent research, discovered the complaints here detailing precisely the same issue (timing chain tensioner failure) that was described to me by my mechanic.then discovered that there is a class action settlement reimbursement (https://timingchainlitigation.com/) for this issue that i am no longer eligible for because jan 25 2019 filing deadline was not met - keep in mind that my engine failed one week ago (11/25/2019) with only 50k miles on it.i too, never received a class action notice in the mail.after calling the class action hotline, i was told to send an email to the lawsuit settlement administrator requesting a filing deadline exception.unlikely that any of this will work in my favor.but i too, like many others have been unnecessarily burdened by volkswagen's negligent handling of this major defect.it's unfortunate that customers like myself are now saddled with this complete loss.

While driving my car from wv to ny, i broke downin pa. My car was making an odd noise and rumbling feeling while i was driving on the freeway at 70 mph and would worsen during acceleration.i was very concerned, so i pulled off to a gas station. At this point no checkengine lights were on. After i filled up on gas, the car would not start.it was towed to vw dealership in northern pa, where i was told an air hose was broken. 10 days later, my car began making the same noise and driving poorly again while i was driving on the express in long island, and was exacerbated by accelerating. My car could not accelerate above 30 mph, so i promptly took my car to the mechanics, where i was told the timing chain tensioner and guide, exhaust valves, gasket heads and spark plugs needed to be replaced. Additionally in 1400 miles, my car had consumed all of the its oil and was on running on fumes. Apparently my car consumes oil at an absurd and unacceptable rate. The timing chain tensioner failing has been a common problem amongst vw 2.0tsi engines and currently there are multiple lawsuits filed against this type of engine, as is the consumption of oil. My car was not involved in an accident due to these failures, but that is only because i pulled over to a safe location as soon as i felt something was wrong. Again a check engine light never came prior to both mechanic visits.however this could have caused an accidentand may continue to cause one in other vehicles.

Pcv valve is defective and tears on 100 percent of all tiguans. This over pressurizes the crankcase causing a loud noise as pressurized air passes over the front and rear main seal damaging the seals. Exsessive oil leaks from the rear main seal onto the catalytic converter causing in many cases, a fire.

Taking off after getting fuel car start to idle rough when slowing down. Drove directly to dealership less than a mile where the car barely made it into the service area and check engine light came on.timing chain broke and blew engine. Vehicle has been perfectly maintained by dealer. It appears to be a recurring problem based on internet research. Fortunately, i was not driving on the interstate as normal at that time of day.

My 2009 vw tiguan engine failed as i was driving to work 35 mph, in heavy traffic, out of nowhere my car engine made scary crumbly noise and suddenly died in the middle of the traffic; completely dead. I was scared to death and if i didn't react fast to put emergency lights on, i could have been plowed by a big truck behind me. There were cars parked on each side of the street, and no place to pull over.i was close to work but was stranded on the street with high traffic because i couldn't move the car. I tried to turn it on but again same rumbling sound and dead again. I called a friend to help me push the car to my employer's parking lot so i could be safe. After work i called aaa for assistance and they couldn't start the car so it was then towed to the place i live. They also concluded that the engine is the problem. That is when i started researching about it and found out there was a settlement for timing chain that i was never informed about and my vin got matched. I bought this car on 07/31/2018, it was well maintained since then and no issues prior to this. This is a serious issue since i had no prior warning and could have killed someone or someone could have killed me in the accident. I am asking you to help me figure this out and help fix the engine problem on my vehicle. I can't stress enough how scared and concerned i am since then especially because i have two children that i drive in this same car and i thought this car is safe for them and myself and everyone around me when i'm in traffic. I love this car but now neither i can drive it nor i feel safe any longer in it. This car is everything to me and without it i can't go to work and make money or go to pick up groceries. I'm a single mom and no family around and i entirely depend on this car to make the life for my children as stable as possible.

I bought my car july 6 2015 the first week the check engine light came on. So then 2 weeks later check engine light comes on again this time cadillac converter went out the the head light keeps going out. No its in the shop for the timing this car has been a night mare since i got it.

67,000 miles on an 8 year old tiguan major failure of the rear main oil seal, followed 3 days later by the failure of the timing chain and tensioner.both the seal and the tensioner are noted points of failure and vwoa is not standing behind the known issue and or quality issues regarding these parts.rear main seal broke during a highway drive, no check engineer light appeared, oil was almost completely drained from the car and no low oil pressure light came on.the only indication of the failure was the pool of oil under the car when the car was parked.after repair of the rear main seal, car ran fine for 3 day and then the timing chain slipped causing sever engine shake.car was station are when this occurred and car was immediately towed to the deal for diagnostic.failure of the tensioner on the timing chain was the contributing factor and low oil pressure can cause the failure according to research of this particular issue.the failure of the rear main seal could have caused engine failure at a high rate of speed and with no waring lights or check engine lights the drive is unaware of the condition.in discussion with vwoa they are not interested in standing behind the quality of the engine and offer not assistance to help cover the cost of the defective, internal parts, that a consumer would have no understanding of how to check or confirm condition without either the manufacturer or the dealer making a point to check during normal service intervals.the tensioner has an existing tsb noting the propensity of the timing chain to slip and the tensioner to fail.

Timing chain tensioner is defected. The timing chain lost tension while vehicle was on allowing the chain to jump one tooth causing detrimental effects to the engine.

My car was parked in a lot and wouldn't start.i had it towed to the dealership.they said the timing chain had jumped and damaged the engine beyond repair.they quoted my $8k to purchase a new engine.

I started having issues with the epc light coming on in my car back in 2017.i was told that i needed "carbon cleaning"which i had done in july 2017 to the tune of $950+.after the repairs were done, my car seemed fine until i was out driving up a long hill near home and my car could not pick up speed.the epc warning light came back on.i pulled over and the light went off and i was able to drive again.weird, but no problems until november 2018 and the same thing started to happen.for personal reasons, i could get to my garage, but just before i was able to take it in to have the problem checked out and for routine maintenance, i'd come out of the grocery store friday, march 9, and my car would not work.had it towed to the garage i frequent and was told that my timing chain tension had failed and i would be looking at a bill of $3,100.please keep in mind that this is the second engine on this car.i replaced the original engine after it died in 2012.i paid $7,000 for a new engine only to end up back in the spot where i'm having to pay loads of money to have this "new" engine repaired.the first time my engine died in 2012, i begged and pleaded with vw to own up to this and to pay for the repair.they only offered me 10% off of a new car.

Tiguan. Purchased the car in december 2015 replaced the water pump in february 2016 and again in january 2017. The water pump on this car has been replaced 4 times in its lifetime. Vw should issue a recall and offer extended warranties to all owners of its cars.

Rear main seal failed due to manufacturer defect causing oil to leak on to hot engine.every 2.0 tsi engine in tiguan, cc, gti, jetta and eos experiences the same failure at around the same mileage.the rear main seal is not a wearing part and should last for the life of a vehicle if well designed.this forum thread shows many owners with the same issue at around the same mileage.http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?6907215-rear-main-seal-failure-at-80k-miles-due-to-pcv-defect-on-2-0-tsi&p=85203838#post85203838the cost of the repair was $1,500 and vwoa refuses to admit it is a design defect or help pay for the repair.

Timing chain tensioner failure:my tiguan had been running perfectly and was a great car since purchasing it 7 months prior to this incident.i drove it 250 miles and at the end of the trip as i was pulling into my destination, i noticed back-and-forth rocking and the engine sounding a bit clunky.i planned to take it back to the dealer i purchased it from to get checked out and wasn't going to drive it if i noticed the back-and-forth rocking again, but i didn't.approximately 100 miles before making it back home, i pulled into a gas station for a rest stop.i came back out to my car turned the key, and nothing happened.the battery was at full charge, but the engine had the starter wanted to fire up the engine, but there was nothing.i had the car towed to my local vw dealer and was extremely surprised upon receiving news that my engine and turbo were blown and both needed to be replaced.after notifying the used car lot i purchased the car from, i was made aware of my vehicle being one month beyond the 6-month warranty.i called vw who said they couldn't do anything to help since my vehicle was well over the warranty mileage.i have since persuaded the dealership i purchased from to cover the installation of a replacement engine, but purchasing the new engine and turbo(upwards of $9k for oem) has fallen on me.

At slower speeds, idle, coming to a stop and accelerating the engine sputters causing a hazardous situation.this is a result of the failure of the timing chain tensioner.vw has created improved replacement parts but has not informed any customers.also the vw tiguan owners manual claims that the tensioner is lifetime and need no maintenance.eventually the sprocket wheels become so worn that the chain jumps and destroys the pistons/header/engine.failure usually happens above the 60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty.vw america is aware of the issue but claims "like any component on any vehicle, it's still possible for it to fail".they know this is a serious hazard, they have a fix and they do not inform customers.

Turned car on and started to shake and idle wildly, engine light came on.timing chain jumped was the diagnosis, went to get 2nd opinion same result.mechanic working on vehicle, dont have exact extent of damage but have an estimate of cost.

I have had over the course of 3 years one of the 4 engine coils go out on my car right after the vehicle started. My car had 41k miles when the first went out and now the third is at 53k. The mechanics at vw know it is a problem and they expect it. There is even a new part with a new part number which indicated vw knows of the issue and they redesigned the part. Its insane to me there is not a recall on this part.

Vehicles timing chain tensioner failed causing the engine to stop running. Timing gain tensioner failed causing severe engine damage. While merging onto freeway engine lost all propulsion causing vehicle to lose acceleration due to issue. Almost caused an accident with a semi truck as vehicle was only moving at 20 mph onto a freeway where speed limit is seventy. Was able to move vehicle to the shoulder but would not restart due to engine damage. Volkswagen has acknowledged the issue but has offered zero assistance

I noticed a huge oil puddle where my car was parked. I drove straight to the vw service dept in my area...the car has less than 75k miles & was last serviced by a vw dealership due to fuel pump recall.upon my discovery of the massive oil leak, i now know was spawned from the pcv valve going bad which has resulted in blowing out 3 seals and requiring a new pan.i have recieved an estimate from a vw dealership service dept and a well know auto repair shop- both have quoted the cost no less than $2000 with potential of reaching $3000.essentially the pcv part is about $20.00 in cost, but because it just "went bad" and its purpose is to allow the engine to breathe...blowing out these additional seals means that the engine will need to be removed to be repaired.the car is valued around $7000 to resale in good condition. Now, a consumer has to spend30% to 40% of the cars value to repair the faulty valve that caused additional issues in order to stop the bleeding.i bought this car from carmax at 30k miles in nov 2014- at the time of purchase there was no disclosure of a recall issued in august of 2014 & did not even receive a letter regarding the recalled until 2 years later from either carmax or vw. In all actuality the entire section in the owner's manual regarding the engine was completely removed & is missing. No indicator lights came on or were displayed from the leak or seals.i would have never known if i wasn't park in a paver driveway at someone's home & asked if that large oil mark was there prior to me parking there in the past 24 hrs.if i continued driving mu vehicle, it could have resulted in a sequence catastrophic events, in a vehicle that has been maintained according to all service standards & requirements on behalf of it's owner.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled and the oil pressure indicator illuminated approximately 30 seconds before the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain tensioner failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Whiel driving on a busy state road, the check engine light came on around 70,900 miles. I heard rattling sound from engine, front end shake. I pulled over near my house and shut the car off. I then had trouble starting the vehicle. I was able to drive the car to a volkswagen dealership where they informed me of the following, "tech found that timing chain adjuster has reached its limits. Foundcoolant fans have internal short circuit. Tech recommends to replace all timing chain components and to replace both coolng fans. Timing chains and all components $2887.68 cooling fans $1252.16"the tech then told me he would not recommend me driving the vehicle anymore. I'm not sure when the timing adjustor failed, but if i were to keep driving the tiguan, it could have caused my engine to seize at any time.i later became aware from internet research that the timing chain tensioner problem was common among volkswagen and audis with the 2.0t engine sold from 2008 - 2011 and in nov. 2011 volkswagen issued a technical service bulletin (tsb) making their dealers aware of the defect. However, the company never informed customers. This problem is currently the subject of an ongoing class action lawsuit.volkswagen has so far refused to help me in any way, instead maintaining that because my car is out of warranty (6 years or 60,000 miles) they are unable to help in any way and that i would be fully responsible for the repairs.the tiguan manual says no maintenance should be needed on the timing chain until 130,000 miles.

After noticing excess oil leakage we took our "09 tiguan to our ase certified local independent mechanic who specializes in european cars. He found a rear main seal failure.vw pasadena found the following:timing chain failure, crank case breather failure, carbon build up on valves, rear main seal failure, pressure circulation valve (pcv) failure.vehicle is within powertrain warranty and vw realdriver mechanical failure service contract warranty by miles, but not by terms (5 yr and 3yr respectively).went to local dealer, escalated to vw america, and denied claim 1/26/17. After owning 10+ vw's in the family this is it. Escalating past claims mgr tomorrow and seeking a resolution.

I had juststarted going up the hill i tried to accelerate the car. It started shaking and did not want to go any faster. In the mean while the engine light was flashing. After that the car was running fine as long i did not accelerated it. I took it to the dealer and found out that one of the coil was not working properly and causing lack of power. I had just picked up thecar from the dealer 5 days ago because of the safety recall about the fuse and the fuse panel. They changed the fuse and the fuse panel andgave me a paper work saying that my car checked out good. And this happens! i got done the 60k check up 5 months ago and 3 weeks after that the auxiliary fan got broken. I bought the car9 months ago andi have already spent over a thousand dollar on it. I am really frustrated with vw tiguan!

I have a 2009 volkswagen tiguan during the time of failure the vehicle was at 96,872 miles on it. I was driving down the street in my neighborhood, fairly close to my house. I had just got off work and was coming down a slight hill. Once i let of the throttle peddle the vehicle jared and began running terribly until the engine stalled. I was able to slow the vehicle and park in front of someones house. I tried to start the car and it would crank but no start. I got the vehicle to my house and tested everything i could until i did a compression test, nothing. The timing chain tensioner failed and my timing chain jumped causeing catastrophic failure. I was lucky to not be going vary fast and no kids out playing in the street. Well just like all the other reports, vw offered no assistance with the repairs. I really hope a recall comes out on this issue due to the amount of occurrences, before someone gets seriously injured or killed. Thank you for your time and consideration. Somebody needs to worry about vehicle safety because we all know vw doesn't.. Its all about the $$$ to them

Car at 55,000 miles had coil failure.caused engine to race and stall almost causing an accident. Luckily, it was only at 25 miles per hour in my development.

While driving the rear oil seal failed causing sudden loss of oil pressure that required an immediate trip to the mechanic. No warning lights ever came on to indicate a problem.had our vehicle stalled or engine failed due to loss of oil while we were driving at high speed we could have caused an accident.almost a year later while parked the engine failed to turn over and had to be towed to mechanic.timing tensioner had failed causing damage to engine requiring replacement.there was no indication that there was a problem leading up to this incident.had we been driving and the timing chain failed we could have caused an accident.these are both known problems by vw yet they have done nothing to repair or make their customers whole due to these defects.now i have an $7,000 paper weight because i have to replace a blown engine in a car that has 90,000 miles and is 7 years old.

The coil, the fuel pump and the rear seal are defective. They are covered for repair under an extended warranty. The issue is that this is the 3rd engine failure this year, another in the past. If you google 2009 tiguan rear seal, you will find many many vw owners experiencing this same issue at this early and early mileage on this vehicle. There is an apparent manufacturers defect that is being overlooked.

The engine for my particular car is very poorly designed causing it to have so many issues one after the other. At on 72k miles i have already had the following jobs done to my car: replace pcv valve, decarbonization of the car, rear main seal leak replacement.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. Upon turning the key in the ignition to start the vehicle, it shook violently. The vehicle was turned off, but failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for further inspection. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 08v235000 (engine and engine cooling) and 14v441000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

When driving vehicle stopped running while on the highway. Would not start. Towed to dealer and told the engine was no good and needs to be replaced. Timing chain failure is the reason. Unable to fix as cost to repair is $7000.

My 2009 volkswagen tiguan suffered a timing chain malfunction approximately 40,000 miles below its manufacturer recommended replacement date. This incident resulted in catastrophic mechanical failure (bent valves).

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated the vehicle failed to start after repeated attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who stated the engine failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Timing belt tensioner failure, causing catastrophic engine failure at just over 93,000 miles. This seems to be an all too common problem with this vehicle. A newer model of timing belt tensioner has been used since december 2011. Mine has the old style. Vehicle was in motion when engine light popped on, indicating the issue.

The vehicle has heavy hesitattion on the highway and within city limits. It is as iff the car will stop. I took the car to the certified vw dealership due to the engine light being on. It was found that there are metal pieces from the engine or spark plug in the oil and has messed the engine up. With regular oil changes, how would these pieces of metal be in the engine. I performed some research and saw that a lot of others have had the same issues. This should be something that should be reviewed and looked into further by the nhtsa.

The water pump failed at 106,246 miles, it was replaced. The pump failed again at 109,802 miles, it was replaced. The pump failed again at 135,473 miles.on all three occasions, the pump failed on start up, the car was not in motion.

At 90k milesthe rear main seal has failed. This comes just 4k miles after having the engine cylinder head repaired and all timing components replaced from the timing tensioner failure.

I was driving on rolling road (north) toward old keen mill road in springfield, virginia around 4:05 pm on november 4, 2014 (tuesday).i saw the smoke coming out near the hood in the front while waiting for traffic light, so i pulled over to the parking lot near a gas station.i saw people waved to me, and yelled at me to stop, i got off my car and they told me my car was on fire at the bottom, we bend down and looked the bottom of the vehicle, and saw the fire burning on the material hanging down. Fortunately, a driver ran over carrying a fire extinguisher from his car, and a person from the gas station also brought another fire extinguisher, they spread the fire extinguisher to put out the fire. I could not wait for the tow truck, so i carefully drove the car to the vw dealership in fairfax, virginia.the mechanic lifted up the car and took down the burned lower engine cover, and figured that it was because many dried leaves stuck near the engine and the high heat near the engine causing the leaves to fire up and burn the lower engine cover.i've saved this lower engine cover in my trunk, and have reported this safety incident to the vw customer service.the case was documented and a case # [xxx] was assigned.i report this incident to nhtsa for the safety concern because this non-fire-resistant material can cause the life of the drivers and passengers.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My mother has a 2009 volkswagen tiguan and the car burns an excessive amounts of oil every 5,000 miles. Vw requires the car to be serviced for an oil change by 10,000 miles but at the 8000 mile mark my mom's vw tiguan had lost almost 2 1/2 quarts of oil. For a new car this is way too much oil to be burned. This is unsafe to the environment, and for a brand new car i have a feeling these cars will not last long. I had to fill my moms car with one quart of oil after the dip stick was showing no oil at all after 8,000 miles and the dip stick barely started showing some oil on low. If i were to leave it for the rest 2,000 miles like volkswagen dealers recommend my motor would seize up.

I am the owner of a 2009 vw tiguan.on several occasions as i am coasting downhill the car begins to accelerates even though i am continuously pressing the brakes.as i am, pressing the brake that car begins to idle up instead of down and the engine grinds.*ln

I went to take my child to gymnastics in the morning. When i turned on to the street that the gym is off of, my check engine light came on. Less then 10th of a mile later i parked. We were early so i called the local vw dealer to schedule an appointment to have this checked out and get in a little early for my scheduled maintenance. We then got out of the car and entered the gym. Within 10 minutes of being inside the gym, a man came in the building and started asking who's suv was outside because it smoking. I ran out side to see my vehicle engulfed in flames. The fire department had to come to put out the fire. Its completely destroyed.

I have a 2009 tiguan i bought in april 2009. I also first noticed a really bad smell coming out of the vents during the summer months when it's very humid. I didn't take it until the fall of 2009 to the dealer for an unrelated matter. They fixed the problem by performing a filter change and apparently sanitizing the chamber. It seemed to have solved the problem. It's been warm this summer in the northeast and i've had the a/c on most of the time since june. I've noticed the smell returning slightly, though not as bad as last year. I guess i'll have to wait and see if the problem develops full blown when i will need to return it for another sanitizing treatment.

Ecm failure which causes vehicle to travel a maximum of 15mph. Engine runs rough and will not restart for a minute after you turn off ignition. Dash board lights come on, and information center indicates "engine fault - workshop".

Car just turned a year old with 10,477 going down the highway 65miles per hour when i thought my tire was going flat because i felt a jerk in the acceleration i pulled over to check the tires i saw all blue smoke coming from exhaust. It was not until i go to the side of the road to noticed a problem.no sign of engine light or codes came on until i was in park checking my tires. The problem was rectified, broken fuel lines...after discussing this with other they informed me i was pretty darn lucky due to the fact the engine could have ignited...

Warnings and errors showed up on the dash board concerning headlight, blinker and brake-light outages.researched online, turns out the fuse box started melting causing one of the fuses to melt which caused the electrical malfunction with the lights.this can apparently cause a fire.

Exterior lights went out completely on the right side of the car. Driving down the highway this could have been a dangerous situation. My fuse under the hood was melted and panel also shows signs of melting.

Drivers side head light went out took car to dealer for replacement and was told that the engine compartment fuse box was melting and it needed to be replaced which we did so that the car would not catch on fire at a cost of over $500.00.

Burned out headlights and taillights.

The head lights do not shine bright at all almost non existtent very dangerous to drive at night

After driving for about 17 miles and cutting the car off and then getting back into itafter about 20 to 30 minutes to start up , the car started and cut off. I started it back up and it cut off. So i waited a few minutes and started it and it stayed on long enough for me to get home safely. After that it will continue to do this often. More frequent to the point of me be scared to go anywhere far. The vehicle was stationary during the first time it stalled. If i get into the vehicle and travel a short distant and turn the engine off. Then come back to it and turn it on sometimes it will stay on and sometimes it will stall and i try to give it gas thinking that will keep it on. But it doesn't . I have learned to let it sit and try it again. I have taken it in to find out what was wrong and no one seems to know and wants to keep it for days.until i found this recall which sounds like what i'm experiencing i was wondering if it had something to do with the fuel system.

Unintended acceleration continues despite recall fix in may 2008.i was never informed of this recall by vw corporate or the dealer.i bought the car in aug. 2008 - 3 months after the recall repair was done.when i complained about unexpected surges numerous times to the dealer, vw corporate and nhtsa not one person mentioned the 2008 recall which exactly described the problem i was experiencing.i had three serious near collisions because of this unintended surging before i myself discovered the problem.i did this by keeping a 2-year log of when the surges occurred and under what circumstances.i found that the only common denominator in the incidents was the use of air conditioning.it only surged when the a/c was on 3 or 4.today - after visiting your new safercar.gov i learned about the 2008 recall for the first time.it describes exactly what i have been experiencing with this car and it cites the a/c as the direct cause.after driving in danger for six years - i want this fixed now and i want to know why i was not informed of this recall after my numerous complaints to both vw and nhtsa.

Rear main seal failure causes oil to leak

I had purchase this vehicle new and for the life of the vehicle i have been experiencing the same thing shaking, stalling and then engine lights comes on. My vehicle now has 59900. Miles on it and on yesterday the same thing occurred. When i contacted vw they said my vin # is not on the recall list but it needs to be because i have paid for a fuel pump flush i have had it done while under warranty also and i'm having the same results where the vehicle shakes violently and shuts off while in traffic so this is dangerous because and accident could of occurred stopping unexpectedly. Once attempted to be driven vehicle did not start again.

Bought new 2009 volkswagen tiguan 2009 in june. First 4 weeks of owning the vehicle heard faint noises from brakes. While in traffic at a stop light, the car abs system came on and the dashboard lit up. Car was unable to move and locked up totally. Car was dragged onto a tow truck and had to be soaped off the tow truck. Volkswagen is still trying to diagnose the car to understand the failure.

Car was being driven down interstate through construction area.loud pop was heard from rear end.after a short distance, rear of car started to shutter then locked up completely.car skidded to a stop on.checked to see if it was brakes onsite and it was not.had towed to vw dealer in hometown and they confirmed that the gears in the rear end had come apart and seized the rear wheels.**if this had occurred at normal interstate speeds i would have expected worse results up to death.wheels were completely locked until car was put into reverse to unbind the awd system.

While driving with my four year old in the backseat of the car, the car suddenly misfired and the engine rough idled. The car stalled at intersections and in the middle of the road. We almost got into an accident as we were driving down a city street, as cars behind us had to swerve out the way when our engine stalled. We took it to the mechanic immediately, as it was clearly hazardous to have on the road, and found that a piston had misfired and stretched the timing chain. The car, a vw tiguan from 2009, was only 6 years old when this event occurred.

On june 13, 2008 i was traveling west bound on a typical south florida day, very hot and humid clear day. Just then a pick-up truck put out very fast in front of me. I slammed on my brakes with plenty of time to stop, but just before i came to a complete stop, the engine roared and i hit the truck very hard. At first i thought my foot slipped off the brake to the gas, but no way, i broke my foot because i hit the brake so hard. My question is this,is there aknown problem with this newcar?

I was in downtown denver, colorado on 2/14/2017. I started the car, pulled into traffic and the car started jumping, all warning lights went on and i turned off the engine.it wouldn't start, was towed to a garage where the mechanic reported that the timing mechanism had slipped and damaged the engine.when he examined it further he realized it was beyond repair and that i needed a new engine.

The rear main seal on my 09 tiguan 2.0 tsi blew at 709k miles from pcv valve defect.i have heard of several cases of the pcv clogging on the tsi engine cars sending boost pressure into crankcase and blowing the seal.

While driving on road aprox. 40mph the vehicle suddenly stopped running-had to coast to side and tow it.when towed to vw dealer -they said timing chain tensioner failed and it's common problem.they even had tsb for that.why they don't recall this since they are aware of it.if i was at higher speed on interstate,i would be in big trouble.

My 2009 volkswagen tiguan suffered a timing chain malfunction approximately 40,000 miles below its manufacturer recommended replacement date. This incident resulted in catastrophic mechanical failure (bent valves).

Timing chain failed at 90,000 miles.

This is a separate incident (i just filled a complaint odi 10401437.same vw tiguain.the weekend of 4/30/11 and 5/1/11 i was driving on the highway and my automatic transmission was acting weird.i was watching the tachometer and it wanted to red line, it was skipping gears, and at times wanted to stall out.this was very, very scary.if i went to pass somebody the vehicle would skip gears and not accelerate properly, at times it would catch the correct gear and want to red line (7,000 rpms) i would have to take my foot off the gas to get it to switch to the correct gear. I pulled over to a rest stop and put it in park, it was idlingunder 800 rpms and wanted to stall out.i shut it off for about 5 minutes and turned it on, in reverse it was idling under 800 rpms and wanted to stall i gave it gas and drove it home.i brought the car immediately to the dealership on 5/2/11 they had the car for the day and told me they could not replicate the behavior of the vehicle and to come pick it up, now they called me at 4:35 pm they closed at 5:00 pm.i was so upseti said lets take a ride with an ase certified mechanic, now, something is wrong with this vehicle.i was very, very scared the weekend prior to this, so i was speaking loudly on the phone and basically throwing a fit because i knew the vehicle was not safe to drive!so i get to the dealership, the ase certified mechanic was present when i arrived, i had been crying because i was so scared to drive the vehicle.the mechanic asked me if he could take it home i said absolutely, and the dealership set up a rental for me free of charge.i guess when they spoke to me over the phone and saw me in person they were convinced i was not making this up.the next day they replaced 2 fuel injectors and explained to me it was not the transmission.the following weekend i thought it still was not corrected, brought it in again and told it was not malfunctioning.

1) driving with low speed, accelerating in traffic.2) awd axle came loose while driving, damaging the axle and underbody surroundings (heat shields etc.) fortunately, did not lose control of the vehicle.3) vehicle is currently being repaired, waiting for parts.

The driveshaft bolts stripped on my 2009 vw tiguan whenmy wife was driving the vehicle at 30 mph. She managed to slowly drive the vehicle back home. After inspection, it became clear to me that the driveshaft was rubbing against the under body and the vehicle was not in a drivable condition. I had to call vw roadside assistance and had to flatbed it to local vwdealership in reno. It seems like the drive shaft bolts have not been torqued to spec before the vehicle left the factory. I am upset that some thing so critical like driveshaft torque has not been checked and the vehicle not pdi-ed before i got the keys. The replacement driveshaft and bolts are on red-order.

Every 2 to 3 months, car fails to accelerate properly/change into higher gear, has been repaired twice and now needs a third, was told it was a wiring problem.

Was sitting in car driving, felt uncomfortable warming sensation under my butt on seat. Figured it was nothing, kept driving. About 20 minutes later noticed a burning smell. Thought it was something wrong with the engine and burning smell coming through air vents. Would check when home. Got home, got out of car, looked down, burnt/melted holes in the car seat. Heating from the inside seat warmer slightly had burned up through the outside seat.

Driver seat back support failure.i was at the intersection of alameda and chambers, in aurora, co.the light turned green and i put my foot on the gas pedal to proceed forward, a bicyclist darted out in front of me so i quickly hit the brake pedal to avoid hitting him.at that moment my back support dropped back into a flat recline position.my vehicle did not travel 3 ft, nor did i reach any speed over 3 mph.i made a right turn into a parking lot to see if i could lift the seat but it appeared to be locked into the flat position.i drove the vehicle to the vw dealership to have it inspected.i was told that my seat operated correctly and that they were able to get it upright again. But were unable to determine why the seat fell backwards or failed.i'm concerned that there is a mechanical or electrical issue with seat and that if i'm in an accident that the seat will fail and that i could be severely injured or worse.

Smelled something burning. Passenger noticed their seat was hot. Discovered burn spots in the passenger seat.

I have a 2009 vw tiguan.the front seats are heated cloth.yesterday, the passenger seat malfunctioned and burned a hole in the seat.i am taking it to the dealershipon 12/22/10.

A liquid was accidentally spilled on the parking brake, which is located next to the cup holders.now the car is saying there is a "parking brake failure", indicating this electronic equipment is not sealed from spills even though it is located next to the cup holders.

My wife's vehicle was parked yes she spilled water on that area, thank god it was parked. From what i have read about these particular e brakes they seem a very bad design. I knew when we purchased the car in 2009 just knowing autos this was a terrible design and feature especially the placement.i read enough online after today this has to be a recall i have had previous recalls on both my vw seat belts, misc. Sensors both a couple of times each yes vw took care of it but this situation is far too dangerous.

I crashed due to brake failure on 10.31.2019. I made a right turn from a light. Traffic came to a stop. I pushed the break and it did not hold. It felt bumpy. Breaks did not hold even when i pushed it all the way to the floor. I ended up rear ending the car infront of me going 15mph. What's going on there? something needs to be done about that asap.

First, this exact same scenario also happened in october 2010.the first incident occurred when i was driving the vehicle, and now this time, when my husband was driving the vehicle.both of us, each have 30+ years of driving experience and neither of us have ever been involved in a crash or experienced this type of loss of control in a vehicle, ever.both incidents occurred while turning a corner at approximately 5 to 15 mph in approximately 1- 3 inches of new snow.the car slid with total loss of steering and brakes, smashing into the curb, breaking the axle, control arm, steering knuckle, etc...there was no control whatsover.this was not ice. This has never ever happened before with any other vehicle we have ever driven.the car did not correct itself even when the steering wheel was released.we believe there is a deficiency in the esp monitoring system.the esp system totally failed while turning.the esp sensors did not detect the situation and did not react at all independent of the driver.the esp system did not use the vehicle's braking system to "steer" the vehicle back on track. The esp did not initiate any braking intervention at all. It was like all systems just totally malfunctioned.horrible.someone is going to be seriously hurt.i am thankful another vehicle or person was in the area.

Grinding sound when braking, now seems to have evolved into brake failure, all of a sudden the brake red light it on and the parking brake is on, and will not go off even when directions are followed to disengage parking brake.yellow p light on.car seems to lurch forward at times or hesitate at others.will have to take to local dealer.

I started to hear a grinding sound from the rear when applying brakes. With only 40 k on car the front brakes should show signs of wear first. The rear brakes have totally worn out first and grinding metal to metal, ruining the rear rotors.

I own avw 2009 tiguan (this is a split year and mine is the older version purchased in 2008).on 5/19/10 i brought it to the dealership because i was having trouble with the steering wheel.ii noticed it was steering differently a week or so prior to this date.i thought i might be imagining this until one day when i left from work and was on my way home the car lost control of the steering altogether (complete loss) for under 2 seconds.i was like oh my god what, and then before i knew it i was undercontrol again.then again the next day i was on the highway and the steering became very hard to steer.almost like older cars who have the fluid run out of them (this car i would find out has a steering harness and i believe no fluid).the steering wheel icon came on my dash board, it was very hard to steer. It ended up at the dealership and was considered unsafe to drive, they loaned me a rental and they immediately figured out that it was the steering harness.this part took a long time to come in, i received the car back on 6/7/10.

The steering wheel light comes on and the steering gets hard and it's dangerous because it's happening while my wife drives it. Please give me some information on what could possibly be happening or if u guys can let me know if there is a recall on it. I know your busy but please get back to me as soon as you can

Several recurrences of power steering issues in adverse or cold weather conditions.complete loss of steering, power steering failure warning light.now i get constant and loud grinding noise during operation of all steering functions.

The timing chain jumped the safety and destroyed the engine and steering.the wiring under the front seats is corroded.the vehicle was stationary.

Steering got very heavy and then the steering warning light came on. The steering isat about half power. Have not gone to vw yet. Search the web shows alot of other people having this issue.

1 out of 5 times i start my 2009 tiguan (with 10,000 miles on it), my power steering will fail and the light will come on. Today the check engine light came on. I was driving about a block from my house when all of a sudden my power steering cut out and i had a very difficult time pulling off the road to shut off the engine and restart it. Once i restart the engine, i have no problem. It seems to be the initial start only- if i start it twice i have no problems. I bought the vehicle in the us and now live in canada, so my warranty is not covered unless i drive it to the us- scary thought considering the power steering has failed while driving down the road!

Electronic power steering failure.steering wheel started shaking and sharply turned right before returning to normal and all indications of failure subsided.i have had three instances of this happening in one years worth of time.

Air bag light all of a sudden came without bumping-the engine idle were not normal high and low - electrical problem from the steering

Vw 2009 tiguan steering failed on october 3rd, locked solid, was in a parking lot.vw towed the car to the dealer and they said it was the wiring harness. Got the car back october october 5th.wife drove it to az the next day and the steering froze while she was driving it.she managed to pull over.

I have a 09 tiguan. The power steering failure first happened when i was driving from seattle to spokane, wa. It's a 300-mile, 5-hour drive. I stopped about half way at a rest stop and when i restarted the car again, the steering wheel started shaking rapidly back and forth. Then the red light of power steering assist failure came on. I restarted the car several more times, but the problem continued. So i had to drive the car without power steering. Fortunately the road is pretty much straight from that point on. Just imagine what if the power steering failed when the car's still running. When i reached spokane, it was kinds late. My plan was toget the car to a dealer first thing next day, but when i started the car the next day, the problem disappeared and it didn't happen again during my 5-day stay in spokane. However, when i drove the car back to seattle, the same problem appeared again. I finally took the car to a vw dealer. They told me they found the problem stored in steering rack and in order to fix this, the whole steering rack needed to be replaced. The job was quoted about $1,900. Also the dealer thinks vw needs to at least cover part of the fix, so they filed the paperwork. But vw denied any kind of coverage. I ended up paying for everything. After searching online, i found dozens of other tiguan owners who have experienced the same problem. I'm no car expert, but this is a very serious safety issue with the tiguan and can even be a design flaw from vw. Vw needs to put this problem into its recall list asap!p.s. I found a youtube video showing the exact same problem of the power steering failure.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dz-1u8twvc. . . .updated 07-16-15 updated9/21/2015

I have a new 2009 vw tiguan that just hit 10,000 miles as of the date of this complaint. I bought on october 31st, 2009. With the first heat of spring i started the air conditioning unit and there was a terribly rank smell of mold. I took it to local service provider on may 5th who claimed that the drain for the air conditioning unit was clogged and a pool of stagnant water had filled the basin. He didn't know for how long that pool had been there. They cleaned out the basin, replaced the filter, and disinfected the car.one month later and the ventilation system still reeks of mold. In some ways it's worse, because now the odor isn't just when running the ac. It now is there when running normal vents and the smell is staring to ooze into the main compartment. Last night, the 4th of june, it was 85-90 degrees and very humid. During a 15 minute drive the odor was terrible. After arriving home i had a 20 minute coughing spasm. I practically cannot run the ventilation.my next step is to take it back to the original dealer i bought it from, contact vw of north america, and start looking into the local lemon laws.

Mold in air conditioning ductwork of 2009 vw tiguan is overpowering and causing bronchospasm and allergy (asthmatic and allergic rhinitis/conjunctivitis symptoms.

All of a sudden epc light came on, along with check engine service now message flashed on dash.i was going approx. 45 mph.i couldn't accelerate more that 5-10 mph!i pulled off to side of road.ended up getting it to mcdonald vw dealership, in littleton. - wasn't covered under my extended warranty.vw said there was no recalls on the epc-throttle body!- total cost?$817.66pretty scary!! thank goodness i wasn't on a major highway, or congested area; at the time.very upset!!!

The vehicle has a faulty drainage system. The original piping that was put into the vehicle through the years has experienced wear and tear and has not held up to original volkswagen standards. Other vehicles by this brand name have been recalled for this leaking issue. This could potentially lead to distractions while driving and make a driver lose control.

While i was driving on the highway just at 80km/h i felt my tiguan like drifting many times, it was like sliding right and left on few centimeters maybe 2 or 3 cm. Just for your information, the winter tires are mounted on the car. This is weird because i wasnt going fast, as i mentioned 80 km/h.

Panoramic sunroof is leaking. Causing flooding in the car and is affecting some electrical equipment in the car. Passenger airbag sensor is affected as well due to the flooding. The leaking from the sunroof happens when the car is stationary.

My vehicle has been having electrical problems with the throttle body system as well as the coolant hose which had to be replaced my radio goes blank to where i can't see my back up camera! this vehicle has to many electrical issues!

The contact owned a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated that while at a complete stop with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle erroneously accelerated. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred while reversing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The failure mileage was not available...updated 03/18/14 the consumer stated during the past 2 years, she experienced 5-6 episodes, in which the engine revved up and lurched forward while she was stopped with her foot on the brake, in traffic or at a stop sign. She avoided an accident, by shifting to park. The most recent incident was on 11/09/13 which occurred while backing into a parking space and the engine revved and the vehicle lurched backwards. The local vw dealer examined the vehicle twice in the last week and found no problems. Updated 03/31/14

I have been experiencing sudden, unexpected and very scary "surges" with my 2009 vw tiguan.it has been back to the dealer three times for recall work on this problem.the problem has not been solved.vw thinks it is a software problem.i believe it is a hardware problem.i found it interesting to read about similar problems being experienced by toyota owners.i read about this on the abc website which is where i learned about your connection to the problem.the surge in my tiguan has nothing to do with floor mats.i believe that if vw and toyota compared notes on all parts in the "surging" cars they may find a common denominator which is causing the problem and perhaps we can save some lives.16 deaths so far - unacceptable.the surges are very very frightening.

The contact has a 2009 volkswagon tiguan with a vehicle speed control issue. While driving up a hill between 35 and 45 mph, the vehicle speed control malfunctions. The contact stated that the failure also occurs when the air or heat control lever is 4 or higher. The failure has occurred 16 times since the vehicle was purchased in august 2008. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 25.

Car stopped and would not start due to timing chain tensioner fualt with code p0016. Caused complete engine failure and the need to completely rebuild the top end of the engine. This was verified after a complete loss of compression due to the valves being destroyed on the engine.

John nb.

There is a panoramic sunroof leakage. Which has possibly cause electrical lighting outage. The leakage has also caused excessive condensation, causing visual impairment when driving.
