Unfortunately my 2011 vw routan was involved in an accident where it was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle moving at approximately 30mph. As a result of the collision the routan spun 270 degrees and rolled over. None of the multiple airbags in my vehicle deployed!

"takata recall" the airbag warning light has been coming on/off for the last 2 weeks. I checked the recall and see there isn't one. I called a mechanic and he couldn't tell me why the light would be continually going on/off. What needs to be done?

I cannot use or sell my car until airbags are replaced.. I have been waiting now for years for replacement parts!!

I have a few concerns about an accident my wife was in on 12/06/2012. She was struck head on by another driver.she had three children in the car.they were on a highway and they were going 55mph and the driver that hit them head on was going around 20mph according to the police report. There was $10,000 damage to the front of the routan.the body shop says that they have to replace the entire front end. My concerns are that the airbags never deployed in this crash and that my wife and children could have been spared some emotional and physical distress if they had deployed.my wife and children have expressed many times since the accident that they do not feel safe getting back into or driving that same vehicle again.my questions are: 1.is this something that happens frequently?2.is this something that should be reported to the nhtsa?3.is this something that i need to get a lawyer to handle?4.is this something where you want to get the vehicle to inspect it yourself for malfunctions?5.i am sure it is a coincident, but we got an email from vw after we told them all this that they were going to stop making the routan after the next year.it is just suspicious. If you could please give me an email or call back please let me know. Thank you for your time and effort in this matter. Driver air bag has failed twice resulting in high dollar repairs. Brakes go bad extremely fast. Already replaced 2 full sets of brakes and rotors in 2 years; less than 10,000 miles on each set. Vehicle violently jerks when in reverse on a hill. Abnormal amount of popping in steering. Dealer unable to pinpoint problem with jerking or popping.

Our van has just over 40k miles on it, and last week it wouldn't start. We jumped it and went out to run errands, but we had to get another jump from a stranger to get home. We charged the battery fully overnight, and it started again for a day, only to have the battery drained again. We bought this car for our growing family (twins on the way!) and i'm reading the horror stories about this year and model stalling while driving on the freeway. This is clearly related to the tipm module that everyone else is having to replace, and this is a safety issue for our family so we are having to fork out $1,200+ to get it repaired when chrysler has a major recall related to this specific issue (it's a chysler part). This should be recalled for 2011 volkswagen routans as well...volkswagen needs to take responsibility as this is a known, widespread issue.

Integrated body control/ecu:tipm module malfunction.

Was driving car around 55 mph when the car just turned off and lost all power steering and brakes, engine just cut off without warning. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road and restart the car. The car was taken to a service station and no codes were found to why the car just stop working.

I have been struggling with starting my volkswagen routan on the initial engagement of the key, the problem started within the last two months. In the same time frame, the vehicle would suddenly turn off in the middle of driving. I have seen that in 2009 and 2010 model there was a recall of the ignition switch that showed similar issues. My car does have 10000 miles, so i am trying to determine if it was an initial faulty item or a part that needs to be replaced. The dealership replaced the tipm module, but it did not correct the issues. I want to see if other 2011 models are experiencing the same issues, and whether the 2011 models should be extended to the recall for the 2009/2010 models.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced difficulty starting consistently and would sputter. The contact had the fuel pump replaced by an independent mechanic, but the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic and they recommended that the tipm relay also needed to be replaced. The contact researched the failure and foundthat the manufacturer issued a recall; however, the vin was not included. Capital volkswagen(3963 w tennessee st, tallahassee, fl 32304, (850) 692-5609) stated there were no recalls. The contact planned to have the vehicle repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 90,000.

My tipm modules of the car is causing a lots of problems and that has affected my fuel pump, battery, and starter.i have to replace a new fuel pump,a new battery and a new starter and still the same problem is still persisting.

Van has been having hard time starting when cold battery 3 months old. Vehicle has shut off while driving also. Took to dealer they stated battery is worn out. Got new battery and they ran diagnostic came back fuel pump not shutting off when vehicle is off drawing large load from battery. They stated the tipm is bad which is 1400 dollars. This is a reoccurring problem on these vehicles which are also branded as chrysler town and country they need to do a recall.

Car wouldn't turn on when key was put in ignition.after several attempts it will start.dealership said there was no issue but there is a known problem in 2009 and 2010 routans.we then showed we could remove the key when the car was on, which the dealership documented.despite our car having the same problem as other routans, vw would not include us in the recall.they said they would wait until there is a bigger issue.this is really scary as our car is unsafe, the dealership documented it, but vw will not make any efforts to ensure my family is safe.

My car just shuts off while i'm driving or won't star at all.then when i turn it off, something continues to run, completely draining the battery.i have to disconnect my battery everytime i park the vehicle.it's completely unsafe to drive and i've dumped over $4200 on this van and i've owned it 14 mos.worst purchase i've ever made.

This vehicle is basically a chrysler/dodge with vw branding, and one of the keys is even a dodge key. It has the same issue with the tipm and fuel relay module that was recalled on the 2011 chrysler and dodge vans. See fuel pump relay recall nhtsa 14v-530. I'm asking that it also be recalled for the 2011 vw routan since it's very dangerous that my car could stop at any moment. Vehicle will shut off when driving and will not start on many occasions.

The van would not start (it would only crank) after turning off.after multiple tries the van would eventually start up.this happened intermittently.this issue eventually got worse and now the van only cranks.i had to have the van towed to our local volkswagen dealership. After diagnosis, the dealership has determined that the totally integrated power module has failed.according to the dealer, this can fail as the vehicle is in motion and can cause deadly results. This is going to cost $1,300 to fix plus tax.

Engine suddenly shuts off without warning while driving!!! extremely dangerous!!!

Van intermittent starts, had the win replaced and it's still doing it, dealership can't figure it out.same year and make has many of the same problem and complaints.frustrating that the manufacturer will not take responsibility.

7/2/14 - after being idle for 1hr the car would not start.after several repeat attempts it did. It would crank as normal, no dashboard warning lights ever came on. 8/8/14 - after 3hrs of highway driving we stopped to fill up with gas.eco fuel never used the same crank issue occurred as 7/2.8/9/14 - after 8hrs idle time the van would not start until repeated tries. I brought to dealership, they could not get the problem to repeat and suspected the tpim module.8/10/14 - after 8hrs idle time the van would not start. When it finally did i drove 1/4 mile from the house and the van shut down completely.lost all power steering and normal braking almost resulting in an accident.called dealer back up and brought back into dealership 8/12/14 with expectation to have $900 tpim module replaced. Directing the dealership to leave the car outside overnight, push it in and then hook up to computers for evaluation they were able to find low fuel pressure reading from the fuel pump up until the it finally cranked over after several tries.after the initial start the van would read normal fuel pump pressures while running, turning it off and turning it back on again.however this does not explain why it shut down while driving.the car was returned and a new fuel pump was ordered for 8/19/14 install.8/15 - 8/18/14 - the van shut off while driving twice not to mention everytime it sat idle it would have the same start up issues.8/19/14 when the dealership received the fuel pump it was the wrong one. But the model# and serial# were exactly the same!so as it stands they can't fix it until they identify the fuel pump.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While the contact's son was attempting to pull the vehicle into the driveway, it suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that there was an electrical shortage on the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired. While driving approximately 35 mph and approaching a stop, the vehicle stalled and failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken back to the certified mechanic who diagnosed the same failure. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the side sliding doors would open independently and without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the door motor failed and would require replacing. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure immediately recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and offered an extended warranty and a percentage off the purchase of a new vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000. The current mileage was approximately 36,923.

Van is missing and would turn off complety while driving down the road. Loss of brake power and power steering(very hard to stop andsteer). I beleive it is the ignition switch or the tipm.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving 40-50 mph, the engine stalled and the battery appeared to have failed. The engine stalled while driving on the highway. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact turned off, restarted the engine several times, and the vehicle was able to operate normally. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The contact also experienced the failure eight months ago. The vehicle was driven to the dealer (rusty wallis, 12635 lyndon b johnson fwy, garland tx 75041) where it was diagnosed that the torque converter was faulty. The dealer paid for another diagnostic test at hendricks volkswagen (5010 state hwy 121, frisco, tx 75034) where it was diagnosed that the torque converter, totally integrated power module, two cam shaft sensors, and the torque converter solenoid were faulty. The manufacturer was contacted at 1-800-822-8987 and did not assist. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the instrument panel indicators illuminated. Also, while driving uphill, the vehicle stalled and was able to restart. The vehicle was towed to brunswick volkswagen (1420 industrial pkwy s, brunswick, oh 44212, (855) 646-8229) where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000. *dt the consumer stated the tipm was replaced in december but the vehicle shut off once again.

The van has a chrysler engine and the tipem part has been recalled under the chrysler however vw has not recalled the part this is a 1300 fix

Replaced fuel pump after issues with engine refusing to turn over. Next day after repair the vehicle refused to start; towed to garage for diagnosis. One mechanic was able to start it and another not. Computer diagnosis can't find the issue. I have explored the internet regarding this issue and find many complaints with the need to replacemthe tipm. This van has an engine built by chrysler which recalled its 2011 vans to replace this device. Please force vw to do the same! thankfully the van was in park when it refused to start.

Vehicle fails to start. When the vehicle eventually does start the power steering is effected andappears to struggle to remain on.issue began a on december 20, 2017 and randomly happens. I have seen several post on other sights with same issue with the ignition switch and tipm system.

This vehicle is basically a chrysler/dodge with vw branding, and one of the keys is even a dodge key.it has the same issue with the tipm and fuel relay module that was recalled on the 2011 chrysler and dodge vans.see fuel pump relay recall nhtsa 14v-530.i'm asking that it also be recalled for the 2011 vw routan since it's very dangerous that my car could stop at any moment.i recently purchased my van from a used car dealer in new jersey who neglected to even inform me that this was a known issue even though i informed them that i'd be driving the car cross country.when i was in georgia the car started cranking, but wouldn't start and it has had this same intermittent issue since i arrived in fl.it took a while for us to figure out what was even wrong with it because when the auto shop ran a diagnostic, no codes were returned.however, when they finally got the issue to occur again, they found that tapping on the fuel relay module in the tipm would allow the car to start.they advised to take it to chrysler because it's actually a chrysler van under the hood.when i called chrysler, they turned me away because the vin is for a vw.when i called vw, they said no recall existed for this van even though it's the same issue.so, i'm asking that a recall also be done on 2011 vw routan's since they are experiencing the exact same dangerous issue called out in the chrysler recall.lastly, i experienced this issue both while the car was stationary and while it was on the highway.

While driving approximately 35 to 40mph on a busy road en route to get on the highway, my routan shut off. The engine shut off, the steering wheel locked up, and the car came to a stop. Luckily i was able to pull off the road. I turned the key to the off position after putting the car in park and the car cranked back up shortly after. I drove it slowly home approximately 10 miles. Both of my young children (10 months and 5years) were in the vehicle. After getting home i began to research and found that this problem lead to a recall of win modules for 2009 and 2010 routans. My vehicle is not covered under the current recall despite having the same issue. I have found that numerous other routan drivers have had this same issue in their 2011 vehicles. We cannot afford to have this repaired and i fear for the safety of my children and our family should we drive this car.

My 2011 volkswagen routan has failed to start on numerous occasions.the engine cranks with full power, but will usually not turn over.when it does turn over, it does not maintain idle and shuts off within a few seconds.electrical testing by the mechanic identified a failure in the fuel pump relay part of the totally integrated power module (tipm), which needs to be replaced.essentially identical parts (tipm/tipm7) have been recalled on town and country models by the manufacturer, chrysler automotive.

I started my 2011 vw routan this morning and as soon as the transmission was placed in reverse, the engine quit.i had all electrical power throughout this whole ordeal.i placed the vehicle in park and started it again though it was hesitant to start.it started after 3 seconds and i allowed it sit and idle (did not notice anything out of the ordinary while idling at smooth rpms).i placed the transmission into reverse and the engine immediately quit running again.after placing the transmission back into park, in deperation i attempted a third try to start the engine and engage the transmission.this time everything worked as normal.after seeing so many other complaints of very similar instances of engine shutdown, i am extremely concerned as to the safe operation of this minivan.the only key that has ever been on my key ring (after 2.5 yrs of ownership) is the key for my routan; i always maintain a separate ring for house/office/etc.in the event that this occurs while driving down the road, i will ensure that it gets fixed so that i can attempt to get as much resale value as i can while promptly trading in for something other than gm or vw.

Tipm module. My 2011 vw routan was built by chrysler with the same parts as any other chrysler car at that time. Chrysler issued a recall for all vehicles made with this particular part as it is a life threatening issue. Most importantly the car will stop in the middle of driving! imagine going down the freeway doing 70mph with your kids in the car and the car shuts off. Fortunately we were only driving in a parking lot. Because the car is branded as a vw, chrysyler refuses to replace the recalled part which i was quoted at $1300 from the dealership and vw says it is a chrysler part and issue. This thin gray line is costing people thousands of dollars and possibly even lives.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power, decelerated to 25 mph, and stalled. The failure occurred without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after approximately thirty minutes. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle experienced intermittent starting failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. A local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000. *dt*dt

Van occasionally does not start.have to let it sit and attempt over and over.seems to be getting worse, but all major components that help the vehicle start are fine, i believe has something to do with the electrical system.worried it's going to leave my wife and kids stranded somewhere.feeling upsafe.heard there has been some recalls for the chrysler version of this van, why not vw?

On september 15th 2015, i brought my 2011 volkswagen routan to pioneer automotive services in oak harbor washington because the vehicle failed to start after several instances.after many hours of trouble shooting, i received word that it was the total integrated power module (tipm). They could order one and install it, but would have to be towed to burlington washington to the closest volkswagen dealership to be programmed.this part will cost me $822 with additional costs for installation and programming.after much research, i found there to be recalls for this part in chrysler vehicles ranging in my year.i own a volkswagen, but it has a chrysler motor in it.this indicates that my vehicle should have been recalled for this potentially life threatening defect, but because its a volkswagen with a chrysler motor, this was their way to avoid an even larger number of recalled vehicles.the cost is disturbing, but the thought of what fatal end to this could bring has no price.all i seek is for chrysler to own up to the flaw and replace this defect and to expand its possible recall numbers to make sure all vehicles that they placed their product in are evaluated.a timely response is very much appreciated.thank you.

Tipm issue that causes the car to stall while driving, or the car starts then dies. Chryslers vans have had this issue and have been recalled, this vehicle is built by chrysler but since it is marketed as vw it hasn't been recalled. It will take somebody to die in a car accident caused by this issue before you guys do something about this. This is really dangerous because it could potentially cause an accident. There are many other people with the same issue that haven't taken the time to fill this report.

The van hesitates to start.it has turned off by itself while driving.the blinkers (right and left) sometimes work.the hazard lights sometimes work.the ac comes on and then comes off.we are the original owners and have kept up with maintenance on the van.we took the van into volkswagen dealer service and were told that the 2011 model was plagued with electrical problems. We were told this time our tipm needs to be replaced.all of the problems we are experiencing are related to a problem chrysler (who made the van) admitted to.volkswagen will not replace the part.the tipm is known for not getting fuel to the engine which can stop the van.this has happened to us twice.

While driving all of my gauges began to sporadically move up and down and all of the instrument warning lights came on. The engine surged several times as well. The air conditioner also began to blow hot air. Later, when restarting the vehicle it would not start the first few times attempted. The engine would not turn over or anything. All of the above events keep continually and randomly recurring.

Tipm module, same as chryslers. Car stopped while driving and has an intermittent starting problem.

My 2011 ve toutan minivan will randomly cut off while i'm driving down the road. There are times when it will not start at all. Vw routans are known for having ignition and tipm issues but vw will not take responsibility and fix the issues.

Car wouldn't start. Replaced battery. When i put key into ignition it started without turning key. Then went off and would not restart. Now the ignition can be moved without a key but will not start.car was stationary this whole time.

My check engine light came on so i had the code checked it indicated that o2 sensors needed replaced then the code indicated a cylinder 4 misfire? ihave replaced the ignition coil pack, checked cylinder compression, changed spark plugs and fuel injector and i still have the po304 code engine misfire cylinder #4??? i am so frustrated what else could i be missing to clear this code issue?

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving various speeds the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to ventura volkswagen (3270 perkin ave, ventura, ca 93003, (833) 214-7714) where it was diagnosed that the fuse box and ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not covered under a warranty; therefore, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The engine completely shut off and all the lighting on the instrumental panel failed. The dealer stated that the totally integrated power module failed and needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,800.

Classic chrysler failing tipm symptoms. The vw routan is made on a chrysler chassis with a chrysler engine to include the tipmwhen trying to start,it will turn over but does not appear to get fuel but will usually start after 3-4 tries. Engine randomly stalls and dies when driving. This has happened on the highway and at slower speeds (very scary on the highway!) after doing on-line search for "vw routan wont start", hundreds of articles came up referencing the bad tipm but no recalls at this time. Please help!

Recently the van has given me trouble upon startup. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes, it would start fine. Other times, it would take multiple attempts to start the vehicle. Other times, the vehicle would start, then immediately turn itself off. Sometimes, it would be like there wasn't enough charge to turn the starter, and other times, when it would start then die, it felt like it was running out of gas, my van only has 42,000 miles on it. After much research, i discovered that the totally integrated power module is the culprit of these issues. Specifically, it is the fuel pump relay that can intermittently not turn on, or turn off randomly. It is a well-known issue with these vans and its dodge grand caravan and chrysler town n country, upon which the vw routan is based. Fca has stepped up to the plate, and issued a recall on many of its vehicles for faulty tipm's.vw has issued a service bulletin identifying the problembut has yet to recall or fix the cars, instead the consumer has to shell out$300 to $1500 for the repair of a known faulty equipment. Why were these parts used knowing the history? there is another website with thousand of similar complaints:http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2011/volkswagen/routan/fuel_propulsion_system/problem.aspx

My children andi were stationary at a light when the van started sputtering. When the light turned green i accelerated.within 5 minutes the van cut off.i have a full tank of gas.this now happens often and i never know where or when it will cut off.most days it will not start. I have had a vw mechanic take a look and they advised its the fuel pump relay same that was recalled on the dodge and jeep vehicles. Because this is the same one but in vw body

While driving on a rural two lane highway, without warning dash lights came on, air conditioner changed to heat, dvd player turned off, and when accelerator pressed van accelerated erratically.i pulled over immediately and turned the van off.the van would not turn back on. The diodes in the alternator failed. When looking up information on this problem i found that this same part has been recalled in other vehicles for this same problem but not in the routan. I was very lucky that i pulled over and was able to stop before my brakes went out. I had two young children in the car with me.

I drive 90 miles before i parked the car in my garage. After a minute of turning off the car, i noticed bright sparks and dense smoke from under the driver's seat. I was able to put down the fire after dumping a lot of water under the seat. At that time the power seats were functional but heated seat was not. I tried to reproduce the issue by starting the car and turning it off multiple times but it did not happen again. I left the car outside the garage overnight and took it to the dealer the following morning, where the dealer found the electric wiring harness burnt out.1. Issue happened after a minute of turning off the car.2. Bright sparks and flames with very dense caustic smelling smoke.

Tipm problem - well known but not addressed.some chrysler vehicles have a recall on the tipm.the routan should as well given that it is based on the chrysler brand.it is outrageous that i have to pay for this repair.to add insult to injury i have been told that it could take up to 6 days to get the part in-house.we are both working parents with 3 children so this makes our day to day extremely difficult.some additional references:http://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/routan/2011/electrical/electrical_system.shtmlhttp://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/routan/2011/electrical/fuel_pump_will_not_turn_off_tipm_problem.shtmlhttp://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/routan/2011/engine/difficulty_starting.shtmlhttp://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/routan/2011/electrical/turns_over_wont_start.shtmlhttp://www.carcomplaints.com/chrysler/town_country/2011/electrical/tipm_failure_would_not_start.shtml

Hard start caused by fuel pump not engaging. Engine shutdown at stoplights. Issue with fuel pump relay. Fuel pump relay is fully integrated and is costly to replace. Volkswagen does not support the vehicle and chrylstler who made the vehicle does not have the firmware to correct the issue.

The engine will crank but will not start on most occasions. When the engine does start it will shut off after several seconds. To get the engine to start at all the ignition has to be turn to the on position for two to three seconds and then turned to the start position. When the engine does remain on, it has shut off in traffic on two separate occasions. I know that this is a chrysler manufactured/volkswagen marketed vehicle. I have read that chrysler has recalled several of its minivans due to the same problems and that the issue is with the tipm part. Does this recall extend to volkswagen as well?

While driving my 2011 vw routan at 45 mph speed suddenly the speed dropped down to 20 mph on a busy road and eventually stopped. Luckily i was able to pull my vehicle over to a local road. After showing the vehicle to dealer the problem was identified as timp issue and repair would cost $1500. Luckily it wasn't a freeway with 65 mph road, i couldn't think of this thing happens on such road with kids inside the car. I have came across chrysler got same sort of issues and they recalled such vehicles. Vw routan is also same built as chrysler town and county and vw didn't offer any recalls for these issues.

Intermittent starts an stops turn key won`t start sometimes trouble started in 2012 took it to shop didn`t act up for them said nothing was wrong so i sort of lived with it it always started after a few tries but latley it start turning off while im driving went to dealer told me they never heard of such a thing happening i tcame home an googled it there were 2 recalls for that reason for 2009 an2010 vans i believe they out right lied to me apparently the first quick fixrecall got put in my vanplease help me i`ve had 2 close calls on the highway when it died while merging on to a highway it`s the only van i got an need it for work i live paycheck to paycheck i emailed volkswagen an got no response there to busy with there deisel recall to bother with me the phone wait was over an hour so i hung up i sure my van is not to only one with issue my wife`s hair girl traded her van off because they wouldn`t fix it this a dangerous issue

Engine and power related stuff (brakes, steering) goes off while driving on highway.after a few seconds engine will start, problem will go away then 2-3 days later will happen again. This has happened more frequent so can not drive it anymore.i

The vehicle was in a parking lot and would not start after repeated tries. It would start as normal and immediately shut off. Had to take it to the dealership who advised the tipm is faulty. Faulty tipms in these vehicle with 55k-70k mileage seems to be a very common problem. There are many shops who will rebuilt these tipms as its a very known issue. This is also a serious problem as it would shut off the vehicle and how start, leaving passengers stranded

Engine hard started for a couple of weeks, then it died while my wife was driving in our neighborhood.mechanic said it was an issue with the fuel pump relay and rigged a bypass in the fuse box.all seemed to be working ok, but then the car died again about months later.next time we started it, the dash lit up with all kinds of warning lights, the radio power went out, and the a/c was not working.we'll see if it is the same issue or another.the fuel pump relay in the tipm, according to account on internet forums, is a faulty part and has been recalled in other dodge/chrysler vehicles, but not the vwroutan (which is a caravan/town & country clone for the most part).there are many complaints of this part being defective and people losing power while driving and it is a huge safety concern.

The ignition turns off while driving on the highway.i had to coast to a stop in traffic to restart the car. It has happened multiple times.all items removed from the fob and the problem still exists.

The vehicle has shut off at random times, often in traffic making it very dangerous for my family. Chrysler (who actually made this vehicle) has issued a recall for this particular issue but vw will not honor it.

I have 2011 vw van which first the van start giving hard time to start. Now i have new battery and the battery still got drained and i have to give it a jump every day just to start. When i turn the van off i keep hearing the fuel pump running and that what drain my battery

Faulty tipm module.engine will crank just fine, but has big trouble starting.once it runs all is good.it's a known issue for the part.other oems recalled the item (chrysler town & country / dodge grand caravan)

Car wouldn't start, hard cranks over several days.the engine would finally start after multiple attempts.over the course of 5 days it got worse and worse.took to mechanic - code said dodge caravan r09.my mechanic said it is a common fuel pump relay inside the tipm, and that chrysler has issued a recall, but vw hasn't.took it to vw dealer, performed and charged me a complete diagnostic test - to tell me the same thing.called vw corporate - said they were aware of the issue, but it is not a chrysler and it is a vw rebagged car, and that i am responsible for a $1300 fix.further issues, is that the part not readily available, and my family of 5 is out of transportation for 5 days.our 2011 vw has only 61,000 and this is not the first issue.upon researching it on the internet, i am not the only one with this problem.it is a shame that vw, won't stand behind their product and own up to the fact they have an serious issue.

Car will not start, though the starter is engaged. Similar problem in neutral or park.

The van was my mothers which she passed away about year ago. I inherited the van i drive it for couple months when i noticed that sometimes when i would try to start it that it wouldn't start. It would only make a clicking noise. I would turn key off & try it again it would start. Then in month or so i noticed that wheni would be driving 55-70 mph that it would like stall. It wouldn't shift down or accelerate. I would have to pull over & restart it. It began doing that quite often until one night i was driving down the road & went to turn in somewhere when it died & wouldn't start back. My husband had to come pull me home. We have researched what it was doing & a lot of people has had this happen to them. They claim it's a $1200 tpim board. The vw routan is chrysler made under the hood. Chrysler is aware of this dangerous problem & has already issued a recall but vw said they wasn't going to recall it. They are aware of it too. I feel as if someone is going to get hurt if this isn't addressed because a lot of people have said that they would be driving down road at 70mph & it just dies which mean that they don't have any power steering.please do something before someone gets hurt. I have kids & i would've hated for us to be on the interstate when that happened. Luckily i was in town & no kids was with me. Thank you!!

I purchased this van in 2012 with 10,000 miles. In december 2015 with approximately 75,000 miles, the fuel pump will not activate and/or will stay on once van is turned off.the engine has begun to stutter while traveling.if the fuel pump relay is bypassed, the problem is resolved.i was instructed by dealer service center once the problem is diagnosed and it is the fuel pump relay, the only repair would be to replace the tipm.

2011 vw routon wouldn't start, hard cranks over several days. The engine would finally start after multiple attempts, but immediately shuts off the power.took it to vw dealer, performed a complete diagnostic test and was reported that tipm board needs to be replaced at a cost of $1300 plus.a quick google search revealed that vw tipm is a well known problem - but not addressed yet. Very disappointing.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. Ever since the vehicle was purchased new from national volkswagen (2223 n marine blvd, jacksonville, nc 28546, (844) 872-2972), the contact had been experiencing failures. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate properly and the instrument panel indicators kept illuminating. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where they reprogrammed the computer for the power train. The failures recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The power train computer was reprogrammed again, but the failures continued. On another occasion, the side doors opened without warning while driving on the highway. The contact moved to a different state and took the vehicle to lithia volkswagen of reno (7063 s e virginia st, reno, nv 89511, (775) 800-5704). The dealer could not recreate the failures; however the check engine and battery indicators illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was diagnosed and it was discovered that the engine was from a chrysler town and country. The results detected that a tune up was needed. The contact stated that the vehicle would occasionally shut off and then restart. The 2011 town and country vehicles were recalled regarding the totally integrated power module). The volkswagen manufacturer was contacted and did not respond. The recall was not extended to volkswagen vehicles with chrysler engines. The failure mileage was 9,819.

Car won't start. Low charge, lights not working, horn not working, over heating. First it happaned while parked and then while driving.

When driving for about 25 and then getting to a stop light. As i slow down and start to come to a stop the car shakes very roughly and turns right off. The first time this happened was 3 days after getting car from carmax. It had not happened again until this week.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

My complaint is a that my vehicle started out giving me problems getting started then got to the point the engine would just stop while driving and would not allow me to press the break to stop the vehicle.i found that chrysler had recalled the tipm in their vehicles and vw routans (made by the chrysler group) were just no longer made and pushed under the rug...this is my primary mode of transportation and i am a single mother of five minor children...i don't have $1300 to invest in the repair and i reported the issue to vw and to no avail.i'm afraid for mine and my children's lives...the next time we may not be so lucky....i am in hopes that this reaches someone that can help.my children and i were in the vehicle and in a rural area on a straight-away when the engine shut off (without warning) and i could not engage the brakes. I was always advised that vw vehicles were the way to go because vw stood behind their brand...but i find that now that my family is in this situation they can care less.i did report the issue to them and was told they would not stand behind the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While idling, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle would occasionally shut off. The vehicle was taken to bill jacobs volkswagen (2211 aurora ave, naperville, il 60540) where the alternator was replaced. Shortly after, the check engine indicator illuminated again. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the alternator and fuel pump module were replaced multiple times over the course of two years. A family member of the contact checked the vehicle and diagnosed the the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The battery has had to be replaced 3 times in 1 year.the fuel pump has gone out.the car stalls - sometimes while driving it.won't start intermittently. After replacing the battery 3 times and the fuel pump last week - now the dealer is saying we need to replace the total integrated power module (t.i.p.m.) .looking this up online there are a lot of people with this same issue.this should be a recall issue.

Veicle has stalled while driving on city streets at 40 miles per hour posing a danger to my self and children leaving me and my children panicking from such incident, was able to pull to the side by hanging to steering will, turned it off and on again when i turned it on veicle started accelerating by itself it was going crazy, turned it off again and veicle started as normal, took only 3 miles for same thing to happen again. Also battery gets drained if left off for more than 4 hours.

This car was actually manufactured by chrysler and sold by vw.the initial problem seemed to be related to a faulty fuel pump.the car would try to crank but not start.it actually stalled as well.we took it to a dealer who continued guessing at the problem and finally replaced the fuel pump.luckily i had mechanical breakdown coverage and only had to pay $250 out of pocket.however, after the "fix" i've had the car back three times for the same problem with no solution.this week, the fuel pump started running even when the car is off.i did a search and found out about the ongoing tipm problem with chrysler.this seems to be the same problem.i'm taking the car back to the dealer this week to see what they can do.incredibly frustrated that chrysler sells this crap and takes no responsibility.vw says they stopped selling these vans because of all the problems.not my problem since they sold them to begin with.i just want someone to take responsibility.

Tipm failure.this should be a mandatory recall.system loses power while moving.will not start.battery, alternator, starter -- all test normal.a car manufacturer can not knowingly allow people to operate a vehicle that could result in a devastating crash.

Tipm going out. Car stalls, won't start, tire pressure lights come on and off, check engine light on with nothing wrong, total system shut down coming.this is an ongoing problem that will only be fixed when i replace the tipm for $1500.

Vehicle engine would do the extended crank, and not turn over, or would turn over and die instantly, check engine light would flash 10 times. Took vehicle to the dealer to find out that the tipm module had failed, the repair was $1200, and took a week. Chrysler had built the vehicle for volkswagen from their town and country line, however unlike chrysler, volkswagen doesn't honor the recall although the part is physically the same mopar part across the board. Volkswagen also stated they offer no assistance after the base warranty is gone as well. Isn't there some federal mandate that requires these devices to be warranted further than the normal 36,000 miles? i guess it will take someone getting severely injured or killed in one of these vans for volkswagen to open there eyes...

No acceleration up hills. Car cranked but didn't turn over engine, randomly. Almost stalled out on the highway during storm by using headlights, wipers, a/c all at once. I had to turn off headlights, wipers and a/c (that kept windshield from fogging) in order to keep from stalling out on the highway with three kids in the car. While driving in neighborhoods (5 mph-25 mph) the car would sputter and jerk forward. I was told the cars trouble could be just water in the gas and so we poured a solution that would clean the gas tank of impurities, if only it was that simple. While driving on the highway using cruise control, the cruise suddenly stopped working, cruise light stayed on but the car just physically slowed down. Our family is scared to get into our vehicle for safety reasons and right now it's our only means of transportation. The tire sensor also has been on constantly and fixed 3 times only to light up 20 minutes later after leaving the vw service department. The sliding passenger door window is having electrical problems and we only used it 5 times from 2011-2017. We paid to have the fuel pump and the tipm sensor replaced last week which cost us approx. $1800 and replaced front brake pads and rotors because our rotors had gouges in them. We replaced a car battery in 2016, while we were on vacation, the car would start and it locked the key in the ignition and wouldn't give it back.

Recently the van has given me trouble upon startup. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes, it would start fine.other times, it would take multiple attempts to start the vehicle.other times, the vehicle would start, then immediately turn itself off.sometimes, it would be like there wasn't enough charge to turn the starter, and other times, when it would start then die, it felt like it was running out of gas.after much research, i discovered that the totally integrated power module is the culprit of these issues.specifically, it is the fuel pump relay that can intermittently not turn on, or turn off randomly.it is a well-known issue with these vans and its dodge grand caravan and chrysler town n country cousins, upon which the vw routan is based.fca has stepped up to the plate, and issued a recall on many of its vehicles for faulty tipm's, but vw seems to want to forget that its customers chose their version over the others.it's a shame, because i like vw.my family drove only vw's during my youth, and that played into my decision to get the routan.it looks like i won't be purchasing a vw product in the future.this doesn't even mention the other big issue that certain year routans/grand caravan/t&c's can have, which is a complete failure of the front cylinder head.again, in this case, chrysler issued an extended warranty on that particular part, but vw made no effort to extend its warranty on those parts.i have called multiple vw service shops in the greater dc area, and none of them have heard of a warranty extension on the cylinder heads.if vw has issued an extension, then they haven't done a very good job of informing dealer service shops, or notifying their customers.it's a huge disappointment.get your act together vw of america. For those with tipm issues, there is a $40 temporary workaround for sale at www.verticalvisions.com

Stationary-will not start. The van will randomly not start. The lights come on but the engine doesn't start. We've had several parts replaced when vw guesses what it could be, and still have the problem. I've been stranded many times, had the car towed, and then volkswagen cannot find a problem to fix because there is no code. We had the entire tipm module replaced and still have issues with random nonstarts.we took it to 2 volkswagen dealers who cannot locate a problem, just guessing. We had our own mechanic replace some corroded wires, and still not fixed. Extremely frustrating. We have four children and to be stranded several times, needing a tow, is awful. Volkswagen is not helpful.we have taken videos of the nonstarts just to prove that this happens. The tow truck driver also tried to start the van. It may start again after trying five minutes later, or it may need to sit overnight. Winter, summer, hot and cold, it still happens. I've developed severe stress over this and we owe too much to just trade it in. I do not drive it unless i have to due to being scared it may not start. Please recall this vin. It is a lemon!

Problem started about 4 weeks ago with car not starting.would turn over but never crank up/start.local vw dealer said issue was fuel pump and replaced.symptoms continued with longer than normal cranking before starting.sometimes vehicle acts like the battery is dead and will "click" until after multiple attempts it will finally turn over and start.certain times after having vehicle in reverse and placing into drive it just dies, have to place in park and restart.while slowing for a traffic light, vehicle has hesitated as if to die, but thankfully it has continued.while slowing for a stop, transmission miss shifted into 1st and made a loud bang.since then at slow speeds if you lifting off the gas the transmission makes loud noises.all of these issues have happened in the last 4 weeks.it has been to the dealership 2 twice and i am awaiting contact via the dealership for a 3 visit in 4 weeks.since original purchase, i have installed 3 batteries in this vehicle.we have lost all confidence in this vehicle, and find ourselves hoping nothing serious happens if it dies while traveling.this intermittent electrical issue while traveling at speed is a concerning safety issue.

The vehicle is difficult to start and stops running about 10 seconds. The vehicle was stationary. I have read on the internet that the same make/model vehicle quit running while driving.this is a severe safety issue.

In july 2016 our 2011 routan would not start up immediately. Would sometimes fire up in neutral and sometimes after several trys it would start up in park. After several days we took the battery in to have it checked (after replacing it and the alternator about 6 months ago). Our battery was totally dead. Bought new expensive battery which failed again after a few days. Took car to repair shop and they saidno codes came up and starter, battery alternator were all fine. Decided to unhook battery when we weren't using car because something obviously is draining it. That seemed to work but last week while on the interstate the van suddenly cut off completely when slowing down for exit ramp. Managed to pull van to side and not get hit by cars behind us without power steering. Very scary. After several attempts we got it started again. However, this morning it wouldn't start at all.in reading complaints i've found that dodge caravans and other models have the exact same problem. The vw routan was manufactured by dodge and the same year of 2011 is under investigation for failed tipm boards.van is 5 years old. Our daughter was in the back of the van when this happened. All power was lost. Has a recall been issued on this part yet? 1200 for fuel pump and then 1300plus for the tipm board. Are you kidding me! so disappointed in vw. So many problems.very frustrated customer!! we could have been killed!family of 4 with 1 vehicle and it's not working and only 5 years old. Currently relying on friends for transportation.

Battery blew up

Issues with totally integrated power module (tipm), the van will not start. Replaced the car battery as the vw dealer instructed me (initially they said i had a defective battery - less than 1 year old - i disagreed but since the battery had3-yr free replacement ihad it replaced) and within a week, started having the same issue and it drained the brand new battery. I found out that this tipm is not covered by the warranty and even if you pay for the repair there is no guaranteed it will not happen again.the charge is $1,500.

Tipm to be replaced.vehicle would time to time stall, completely stop while driving it. After a while the vehicle would not even start.one would first think of a battery issue, a fuel pump or a crank sensor whereas the issue is actually the tipm.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly begin to jerk and decelerate before stalling. The failure had occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to gene langan vw located in raspberry, connecticut who diagnosed that the power control module was faulty and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 77,700.

Tipm needs a recall.van is difficult to start and sometimes shuts off while you're driving. Dealership will tell you it's the fuel pump and change you $1100 to fix it only for the problem to persist even after the costly repair has been made. Chrysler has recalled the tipm (this is a chrysler/mopar part) but because the tipm requires the vw firmware, volkswagen is refusing to issue a recall.the first time this happened to me, volkswagen tools me it was a software upgrade but now the issue is happening again. I've almost crashed on multiple occasions because the van has shut off while the van was in motion. It is not the fuel pump.

The vehicle is a rebadged dodge caravan/chrysler town & country. The vehicle's computer, the tipm, has defects where components become unsoldered from the board creating problems such as fuel pump running even without the ignition being on, to windows rolling down on their own, etc. Chrysler has recalled some vehicles but not this one.

Car wont start, only sometimes.just turns over repeatedly, until you turn the key off.sometimes nothing happens.sometimes it starts normally.once it stalled.usually this happens on the first start, but sometimes it doesn't matter.

Driving down i70 west bound going 70 mph in indiana and engine turned off lost power every light on dash came on and the was ablinking red light in center of dash.some how i made it over to the edge of the roadand put it in park.the van would not start.i noticed i was on the white line and wanted to move the van over more, but i could not get the van into neutral.i could feel the every car and truck drive by.i was scared for my life. I was traveling with my wife and 3 children under five on the coldest day of the year.i kept thinking a drunk driver is going to clip us.welucky to have enterprise pick up my family and i got towed back to the dealership.the only thing the dealer could find was a blown 10 amp fuse for the ecm.they replaced the fuse and drove the van for 200 miles and the said the van drove fine.they don't know what caused the fuse to blow.the only way for them to find out what was wrong was to have it happen again with a computer hooked up.they sent me on my was with a box of 10 amp fuses a week later. I would not expect this from a 2011 with 30000 mile.i don't feel safe inthis van, but its not worth anything on a trade in.don't know what to do.

The van will shut off without warning. This most recent time i was driving at about 63 mph with cruise control on. I notice the van shake, the cruise control disengaged and the vehicle slowed to a stop.the same thing happend about 1 year ago. Vw changed out some parts and said it was fixed.judging from the threads i'm reading it's a prevalent problem that they have not properly addressed. The van is at the dealer this morning...i'm waiting for diagnostics results

Fuel pump runs without car turned on.the mopar tipm module in this car is a chrysler part that chrysler recalled on 2011 routan but vw does not honor this recall.this is a safety issue which causes the fuel pump to run and drain the battery dead along with other safety issues like car stopping dead.this car cannot run without this part and this recall must be honored by vw.they are making us pay for a new module.there are thousands of these routans with this problem and no one is listening.our car was in the driveway and fuel pump was running with car turned off all night.also when husband driving it, car would suddenly slow.

On 4 occasions since 3-6-15, when turning the ignition switch to start, nothing happens. After one or two tries it will start. The battery is fairly new and strong so it is not the battery. This seems to be related to this chrysler built product which is under recall. I hope it does not stop running going down the road.

The car will not start up the engine no matter how long i crank. Battery and starter seem ok. The problem has no warning on the dashboard whatsoever.

Tipm has failed again; hard starting, stalling, unsafe. This is the 2nd tipm failure we have had so am familiar with symptoms and resolution; which is to replace entire board or disassemble and identify and replace bad component. Does nhtsa really want consumers to do this? ultimately a failure in design... Needs a recall.

Our van has had on and off weird electrical things happening for a few months - wipers come on by themselves, air turns off by itself, lights, etc.then the van started not always starting.sometimes it would start, then shut off by itself shortly after starting.it got to the point where it was not easily starting 2-3 times a day.the weird electrical stuff would happen when stationary or in motion.the starting problem was while stationary.sometimes it died when i put it in gear to move.sometimes when driving, i felt like the car was giving itself more gas even though my foot had been taken off of the pedal.took it to vw when it simply would not easily or reliably start anymore.they said the tipm module needed to be replaced.we just got it replaced.cost us $924.77!

I own a 2011 volkswagen routan minivan and the ignition switch stops working i know there are a few recalls for this on the 2009 and 2010 years i call vw corporation and they said they can't help me just because there's no recalls on my vehicle the part they used in the previous years is the same that is damage in my vehicle so i don't think is fair and i would like to get some help for this thank you

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the on position, the vehicle did not start. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted. Additionally, while driving various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle did restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was an electrical failure with the ignition as a result the ignition and the sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

I have a volkswagen routan 2011 built by chrysler in a canada factory. This vehicle is shutting off when drive on the freeway.the gears and sreering locks up while driving. The vehicle also has electrical issues the lights turn on and off even when the car is off. After purchasing a new battery and alternatorthe car in the morning will not start. The battery is dead and drained. With nothing on it intermittently has a dead battery and shuts of after starting the car. When i call the volkswagen dealer in stockton ca to explain the service guy hung up on my husband and i and stated it's not a recall. We explain that thousands are having the same issue and it's recorded and all over you tube. We are having the same ignition switch issues or possible tipm issues.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but began stalling while driving approximately 55 mph. When the failure occurred, all the vehicle's warning indicators flashed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

I own a 2011 volkswagen routan. I bought it in august of 2014 with 50,000 miles. In november 2015, the vehicle started having issues. Every once in a while when starting the vehicle the engine would crank but not start. Then would start right up the second try. This problem got worse within a short amount of time. It took several tries to start. I took it in to my local vw dealership where they diagnosed it to be a timp failure. I got the vehicle repaired costing me $1028.17.it had 69,000 miles at the time of repair. After doing research on this issue i have found there to be several other complaints with the same issue. This needs to be a recall!!!! since this is the same vehicle as the chrysler town and country that happens to have the same problem and has a recall for the timp module. Also the brakes suck! my husband replaced them shortly after we got the vehicle and need replacing again.

Vehicle tipm is faulty, makes the car hard to turn on and in other cases stall when stopped at lights or stop signs

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start when the ignition was turned. The contact had to turn the ignition key several times in order for the vehicle to start. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (ourisman volkswagen mazda in rockville, md), but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealer but the cause of the failure could not be identified. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 170810911. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 08/22/17*lj

Tipm module issue. Because the car is branded as a vw, chrysyler refuses to replace the recalled part which i was quoted at $1300 from the dealership and vw says it is a chrysler part and issue. This thin gray line is costing people thousands of dollars and possibly even lives. Also the fuel pump runs without car turned on. This is a safety issue which causes the fuel pump to run and drain the battery dead along with other safety issues like car stopping dead. This car cannot run without the new tipm and this recall must be honored by vw. They are making us pay for a new module. There are thousands of these routans with this problem and no one is listening. So i also replaced fuel pump after issues with engine refusing to turn over. Next day after repair the vehicle refused to start. So i have explored the internet regarding this issue and find many complaints with the need to replacement tipm. This van has an engine built by chrysler which recalled its 2011 vans to replace this device. Please force vw to do the same! its truly absurd that vw will not create a recall for the tipm as chrysler did.

Tipm problems my car stoped in the middle of the road and most morning it won't start.

I was driving along a highway with my wife and children when all the power in my vehicle shutoff. I lost power to the engine, power steering, and power braking. I was able to get the vehicle over to the side of the road without incident. Since then i have had several electrical issues and the volkswagen dealership has attributed it to a failed totally integrated power module (tipm).

I own a 2011 volkswagen routan. When the ignition was turned to the on position, the vehicle did not start. After several attempts the vehicle did start and while the contact was driving at various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle did restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was an electrical malfunction with the ignition and the ignition and sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage is approximately 45,000.

After the car is parked back lift gate opens suddenly, also automatic side doors suddenly opens.lots of occasions the vehicle won't start.at one time my wife was driving and suddenly it just stops in the middle of the road and could not start. No sign of empty gas or engine lights warnings. After the being taken to the shop diagnose is sensors not working and lots of time sensors were replaced but the hard start keeps on doing it to this date. Sometime it starts sometimes it does not.

Car shut off numerous times while driving. There was no way to turn steering wheelit just stops nothing youcan do to keep it running hopefully no one is tailing me because if not i will definitely crash. Mechanic can't seem to find problem. Maybe tipm or key fob? changed key fob no luck

Integrated body control/ecu:tipm module malfunction.

Car won't start. Low charge, lights not working, horn not working, over heating. First it happaned while parked and then while driving.

My tipm modules of the car is causing a lots of problems and that has affected my fuel pump, battery, and starter.i have to replace a new fuel pump,a new battery and a new starter and still the same problem is still persisting.

Car wont start, only sometimes.just turns over repeatedly, until you turn the key off.sometimes nothing happens.sometimes it starts normally.once it stalled.usually this happens on the first start, but sometimes it doesn't matter.

Car won't start. Low charge, lights not working, horn not working, over heating. First it happaned while parked and then while driving.

The car will not start up the engine no matter how long i crank. Battery and starter seem ok. The problem has no warning on the dashboard whatsoever.

Our transmission issue started as we're going down i-75 at about 65-70. What sounded like something falling from under the hood and making a klanking sound at if it was falling from the engine. After a few months the transmission started making a high pitched noise. Our local auto repair store wouldn't touch it so we had to take it to the vw dealer. Turns out not only did we need a new transmission but we also needed a new tipm. Total cost including labor was over $7000.00. We had roughly 85,000 miles on it so it was no longer covered under warranty.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the engine cranked up however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that a fuse warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the totally integrated power module (tipm) failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was later taken to dreyer & reinbold vw (1301 south, us-31 ste 3, greenwood, in 46143) and the contact was provided the report of the failure. The contact was informed that the onboard supply control unit in the tipm was defective. The contact was provided an estimate for the repairs. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The manufacture was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 75,060.

I have replaced the brakes and routers 3 times since owning the van at over $1000 each time. The biggest issue i have is the fact that the car won't start. Very frequently, the van will not start leaving my kids and i stranded. It is a huge problem as i commute to work and we like to do things out of our area, not to mention just drive in general. This has been happening for a long time and has gotten worse over time.

When driving for about 25 and then getting to a stop light. As i slow down and start to come to a stop the car shakes very roughly and turns right off. The first time this happened was 3 days after getting car from carmax. It had not happened again until this week.

Faulty transmission: the speed changes while driving for no apparent reason. The car has only 57000 miles mostly on city streets. Jerks are felt while driving.

Tipm module issue.

My 2011 routan suddenly lost power while i, with my kid on board, was driving on a highway in march 2014. Can you imagine a vehicle stopping in a flow of vehicles at 70+ mph? all lights were on. I managed to restart the engine and was able to drive but the check engine light was still on. The dealership from whom i bought the vehicle "repaired" it and told me that "everything is fine" by having a brand-new set of wiring. A month later, the same life-threatening issue happened again while i was driving. This time, the vehicle stalled and i could not rotate the steering wheel at all. Now the vehicle is again with the dealership for diagnosis. As a matter of fact, about half a year ago before these losses of power happened, i experienced another problem with the vehicle. The acceleration was not very responsive. That is, when i hit the gas pedal, the vehicle initially did not accelerate at all and after 2-3 seconds, it suddenly accelerated. This really frightened me as i tried to change lanes.now i have no confidence with this vehicle at all. I am deeply worried that even if the vehicle is "repaired" this time, i and my family could get injured or killed by having a car that randomly shuts off in the midst a stream of fast-moving vehicles. This type of vehicle should be banned from the road for the safety of innocent people.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled and completely shut off. All the instrument panel indicators were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start; however, the lighting was operational. The vehicle was towed to lithia volkswagen of des moines (5200 merle hay rd, johnston, ia 50131, (515) 446-3579), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The vehicle has shut off at random times, often in traffic making it very dangerous for my family. Chrysler (who actually made this vehicle) has issued a recall for this particular issue but vw will not honor it.

Car shut off numerous times while driving. There was no way to turn steering wheelit just stops nothing youcan do to keep it running hopefully no one is tailing me because if not i will definitely crash. Mechanic can't seem to find problem. Maybe tipm or key fob? changed key fob no luck

The van has a chrysler engine and the tipem part has been recalled under the chrysler however vw has not recalled the part this is a 1300 fix

The van totally looses all power while driving.it happens multiple times per week.while driving the van dies, it takes about 3-5 seconds then the power comes back, we can then drive again.when it happens, sometimes the power doesn't come back on its own, we then have to put it in neutral and restart it,then can drive as normal.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to hesitate before stalling. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,833.

The contact stated that the vehicle loss power steering and brakes during the failure. The contact stated that the fuel pump relay failed. The contact stated that the relay continued to run after the vehicle stalled and drained the battery. The failure recurred numerous times. The contact called volkswagen of marietta (1860 cobb pkwy se, marietta, ga 30060) and informed the dealer of the failure. The contact called three other unknown dealers but was not provided any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

We purchased this vehicle used in august 2018. The first long distance trip the transmission quit working on pa i-76. My family could have been killed as the van shifted eradically, stalled while in motion, and stopped shifting all together. We took the vehicle back to where we purchased it. They sent it to the transmission place that originally did the transmission work. They replaced a defective part. Ever since the repair the van shifts hard and at odd times. Three weeks ago it began leaking transmission fluid and began to shift erratically again. No indicator lights illuminated. We had it towed to the transmission shop again they said it was our breaks, we had it towed to our mechanic, it's not the breaks. It is again at the transmission shop. This has cost us time, money and our safety. What will it take for vw to issue a recall on this van- who has to die for anything to be resolved.

2011 routan would crank and not start. Power doors would open very slowly. Key fob would require multiple attempts to unlock doors. Seatbelt light would come on and alarm would sound, even though seatbelts were engaged. Routan would stall after start.

The contact owns a 2001 volkswagen routan. While driving 40 mph, the engine shut off and all the indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, the anti-theft system activated and the contact could not restart the vehicle. The vehicle remained parked in a lot. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls. The manufacturers for both volkswagen and chrysler referred the contact to each other and did not want to address the malfunction. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 184,000.

2011 volkswagen routan engine will unexpectedly shut down during normal driving conditions, resulting in no engine power, no power steering and no power brakes. This occurs at any speed and in any driving condition from stationary idling up to highway speeds. This has occurred multiple times with this vehicle.*dt*dt*dt *tp

*dt*dt

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving at approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled without warning.the vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the win module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 29,139. Updated 1/12/16

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving approximately 35 mph, all the warning indicators illuminated and white smoke and flames emerged from the engine compartment. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and removed the three child passengers from the vehicle. The fire department was not present. No injuries were reported. The fire extinguished itself when the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the battery and the alternator were burnt and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired, but the repairs were insufficient. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (neftin westlake volkswagen, 3550 auto mall drive, thousand oaks, california 91362) where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated program module and transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a squeaking noise when stopping. The vehicle also jerked intermittently. In addition, the front passenger door opened on its own and would not lock automatically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failures. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer stated that the vehicle was performing to specifications. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 7,465.

Had the van less than 3 months and took it in for service - brakes squeaking and steering pulling to right w/only 4k miles.found out steering boot was "disintegrated" and needed to be replaced, along with steering pump and related parts.dealership had no explanation as to why the damage occurred or what could have caused it.my van was in the shop for 28 days waiting for available parts and completing repairs.i have only had my van back a week and it's pulling to the right again.also, a/c doesn't cool consistently - fades in and out.

Vw routan 2011 (chrysler town & country) will not start intermittently, starving for fuel.on 4-5 occasions this van would not start until many attempts later, potentially stranding my family.we have parked the van until we could research and have the problem diagnosed.now my mechanic has diagnosed problem as the tipm fuel pump relay.upon further research found chrysler had mandatory recall on this same tipm fuel pump relay.vw routan does not seem to be included, despite this being a "re-badged" town & country van, manufactured by chrysler.

Fuel pump runs without car turned on.the mopar tipm module in this car is a chrysler part that chrysler recalled on 2011 routan but vw does not honor this recall.this is a safety issue which causes the fuel pump to run and drain the battery dead along with other safety issues like car stopping dead.this car cannot run without this part and this recall must be honored by vw.they are making us pay for a new module.there are thousands of these routans with this problem and no one is listening.our car was in the driveway and fuel pump was running with car turned off all night.also when husband driving it, car would suddenly slow.

Thank you!!

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the street. The contact could not guide the vehicle to the side of the road and had to activate the hazard lights. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive home after waiting fifteen minutes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump relay failed. The contact spoke with an unknown volkswagen dealer and was informed that there were no recalls for the failure and this model vehicle was currently made from chrysler. The contact was waiting to hear back from the independent mechanic. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 30,000.

Tipm module, same as chryslers. Car stopped while driving and has an intermittent starting problem.

It is very hard to start the routan, and it has stalled while driving for no reason driving on a highway.chrysler (who made the routan for vw) has recalled the tipm on all of their town and countries, as well as the dodge caravans for this same reason.i have a family of 7 that uses this vehicle for out primary mode of transportation.

The van has a chrysler engine and the tipem part has been recalled under the chrysler however vw has not recalled the part this is a 1300 fix

Van would not start like normal.sometimes it would, other times it would crank, idle, then shut off, or crank without starting and would have to manually turn the key back to the off position to stop the cranking, or crank with foot on gas pedal depressed so it would not stall so it would start.that worked for about 2 weeks.now it only cranks without starting.was told injectors needed cleaning.after that was told fuel pump is not working. (was not the problem, fuel pump was not getting power, this was known after installing new fuel pump and it did not work either. I had them test old pump and it does still work so now it's an electrical issue before the fuel pump.then told ecu is bad.computer gave no diagnostic codes, no dash warning lights.found out the (eco)nomy feature may be the culprit but can't get info from dealer. (nhtsa reference #10052670 or tsb reference #tb-20-13-05).when i called the service department and asked them about a tsb, technical service bulletin they sounded like i was speaking a foreign language. Then they advised i speak to the shop foreman but he was not there at the time and has not been available to speak on the phone the last 2 days i called.called vw 800# and they do not send them out but you can buy it from there website. Strange that such an issue is not covered even if warranty is over.i hope it does not take a complaint filed where they have to click the radio box yes for was there an injury or fatality? question

Volkswagen has chrysler make these mini vans. Chrysler recalled the tipm module/relay box but volkswagen has not. Its a faulty part that needs to be recalled. The car will some times not stat. Sometimes the fuel pump will run and drain the battery but the most dangerous of all is that it will stall going from an idle to giving it gas. Like pulling out into a busy street. And then take a minute to get it started again. Very dangerous.it seems like it might take a death to get vw to recall the part that chrysler already did the recall on.

Tipm module issue.

My 2011 vw routan, will have a lot of trouble starting up, took it to the dealership and the tipm needs to be replace, which is a common problem for this car,

Routan didn't start after key turned and started to turn-over.it would take several attempts for the van to start. Mechanic determined the fuel pump was dipping below thresholds, so replaced the fuel pump.the van started the next few times, but continued with the same startup problem again.then it was determined to be the fuel pump relay in the tipm.this has been recalled by chrysler yet vw uses the same part and hasn't had a recall yet.this is ridiculous to pay this much money for a known problem.

Tipm was recalled for chrysler/dodge and should be for vw routan. From what i've read the car can stall if this part is bad

Check tire light on dash came on and off- had it checked out- nothing came up. Then we started having issues with the vehical starting- long starts and not starting on the first, second, sometimes third try. Next, the engine would intermittently turn off when shifted into reverse. Lastly, it started shutting off while driving!!! all of these things occurred within 1.5 months and in order. Brought it in to vw dealer- requires new tipm module at 1000.00 dollars. Totally unsafe and should have been included in the recall along with the chrysler and dodge models when they recalled the tipm modules. This car was made by chrysler- so i've discovered. It is essentially a chrysler with a vw badge on it- that's what the mechanics i've spoken with call it. They also call it a frankenstein van! vw and chrysler should stand by their product- add it to the recall before for someone gets killed in this thing!!!

Vehicle tipm is faulty, makes the car hard to turn on and in other cases stall when stopped at lights or stop signs

My tipm modules of the car is causing a lots of problems and that has affected my fuel pump, battery, and starter.i have to replace a new fuel pump,a new battery and a new starter and still the same problem is still persisting.

The minivan suddenly gave away on the transmission. At speeds of around 70mph, the transmission was in "d" (auto transmission vs manual) but there was no engagement from the engine. Giving more gas the engine was just revving up as if it was in neutral. Moved it to neutral and back to drive and still the engine revved up without engagement. Had to move over to the right lane and started slowing down to stop. After about 2-3 minutes, tried again and then the car suddenly revved up to 5000rpm or so as if it was in the 2nd or 3rd gear. It then re-adjusted itself and started picking up speed. Please investigate asap since this happened during peak traffic on a highway when trying to overtake a truck with the van full of passengers.

Faulty transmission: the speed changes while driving for no apparent reason. The car has only 57000 miles mostly on city streets. Jerks are felt while driving.

My sister bought a vw routan se 2011 six months ago. Recently, we have experienced a "safety problem" with the vehicle especially when we are trying park it on a (steep downhill) between two cars in san francisco. When the transmission is put in reverse and the driver is backing up to park between the two cars on a steep downhill, the vw routan moves forward approximately one foot prior to backing up and we feel abnormal vibrations in the transmission/engine. Plus, if you do not press any gas when the transmission is put in reverse, the car acts as if the transmission is put in neutral showing no resistance. This is a safety issue, i might hit the car in front of me so i brought it up to the attention of northern ca vw case manager as well i took it two different vw dealerships (vw oakland and vw serramonte). Both dealerships mechanics have admitted there is something wrong. However, the management of vw is claiming that it is normal since the other new 2011 vw routan are performing the same under identical circumstances. The vw case manager stated that in the eyes of vw it is ok for the mini van to move about one foot forward when it's backing up on a steep downhill; it is how it was designed by the engineers. This absolutely an irresponsible way to treat your customer who bought a 2011 vehicle to have a peace of mind at least for the first couple of months of ownership. It puts the life of our citizens in danger. I have no control over the car when it's backing up on a steep downhill. There is no way i can stop it from moving forward about one foot before it starts backing up. Let's say someone was crossing the road at the same time i was backing up, who will be held responsible if he/she got hurt. As a government committee, i would like you to investigate this and take action.

Transmission slipping. My 2011 volkswagen routan sel had only about 64,800 when i started to get a check engine light which was diagnosed as a torque converter clutch solenoid error. I had this diagnosed by my local mechanic, autozone, advanced auto parts and aamco. I called my vw dealer who told me that because my vehicle was out of warranty of 60,000 miles, i had to pay $180 for a vehicle diagnosis on top of repair costs which could be up to $3,500 or more depending on their findings. I understand that although my vehicle has the vw emblem on it, it is essentially a chrysler minivan on a volkswagen shell. I really need to get this fixed as i am experiencing much lower mpg per fill up and degraded highway acceleration/speeds. I am reporting this in hopes that there are other reports of incidents similar to mine so we can get more favorable resolution from the manufacturer in the form of a recall or other fix that could help consumers like myself save hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Engine light on. Need to replace torque converter and valve body, sealant, and tran fluids

The transmission would cause the vehicle to abruptly lunge forward when the gear was shifted from reverse to drive. I am the driver of the van and my head, neck, upper shoulders, upper/mid/lower back hurts. It started hurting because of abrupt jerking of my head and neck caused by the van when i shifted the gear from "r" to "d". This would also happen to my 2 small children (now 4 and 6 years of age) while they sit in the back.the head of the passengers in the van would also jerk and lunge forward or backwards.i have almost hit pedestrians on 3-4 different occasions that decided to walk really close to the front of my van in the parking lot while i moved the shifter from "r" to "d"i have taken the van into dealer 2 times already and called them every year to check if there is a recall. The dealership only did an electronic reset. I am really frustrated and fed up so today, oct 25, 2016, i called and scheduled another appt with the dealer because this issue is getting out of hand. I also checked and currently, there is no recall on this matter.

With the rear hatch open there is no cover or safety stop mechanism on the automatic folding rear seats.on several occasions i have accidentally depressed the button and have had the seat crush objects in its path.i am gravely concerned about what would happen if i had my baby seat strapped in while i accidentally depressed the button.would my child be crushed or maimed?based on the items in my trunk, yes.there is absolutely no way to stop the mechanism once it has started and no way to prevent its accidental deployment.i contacted vw and was told that there is no plan to correct this problem.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the driver' side brake seized intermittently and without warning. The contact also stated that when he drove over a road bump or powered the vehicle off and restarted, the failure would cease. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to a dealer whrer the technician diagnosed that the brake fluid was burned. The rotors, brake pads, brackets and the brake fluid all needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

I am now going to have to replace my brakes and rotors for the third time and possibly the control arms as well.i understand that there is a service bulletin for this.why isn't there a recall for this?many customers have the same issue.

The vw routanrecently when i got from the deleship i notice that everytime that i would apply the brakes while driving on the freeway then entire van would vibrate and the steering wheel would vibrate even more i did some research and i found that i wasn't the only routan owner having brake problemsso it looks like the brake rottors are over heating that thencaused the rottors to warped!!! so i took the car to the vw dealership and they had to replace all four rottors and brake pads!! but before replacing them they keep telling me that it was driver error. So now a year and half after the vw dealership fix the problem the car needs all new brake rottors and pads again due to the over heating that caused the rottors to warped and now they won't fix the problem again because the warranty expired;

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle we noticed the front brakes caused a vibration/ wobble at speed when braking, this was with less than 9000 miles on the vehicle. Now again at little more than 24000mi. We are taking the van in for warranty replacement of the brakes and rotors. I'm told by my original dealer that there is a service advisory notice for this issue.

This vehicle has been serviced by the selling dealer since it was purchased july 2011. This vehicle has had many serious / safetyproblems. The brakes have been replaced 2 or 3 times.the most recent problem was the power brake booster (or something like that) has failed. My wife was not able to stop the van.she went through a red light where cross traffic was traveling at speeds of 40mph or greater. Her driving skills and using booth feet on the brake peddle she was able to slow the van and steer it from getting blind sided.it is my belief that this vehicle is unsafe, and should be removed from the roads. The amount problems, while repaired under warranty is un-heardof for a newer model vehicle. Safely for the occupants and others around is the no. 1 priority.with all the problems this van should be removed and marked unsafe, and un drivable. This last part that failed could become a major recall.

After buying my certified routan and only putting around a 1000 miles on itthe steering wheel would startto shake when braking at a speed of 40mph or faster. Took the car to the dealership and was told thefront brakes need to be replaced. At first they said it would not be covered under warranty because it may have been caused by me pushing to hard on the brakes. Completely bull. They finally said it would be covered under warranty. Now at 31,000 the back brakes are squeaky and need to be replaced. Called the dealership and was told the same thing that the brakes are not covered under warranty but as before the brakes should last much longer. Takingit in tomorrow to have the brakes inspected. Hopefully will be covered.

Wv2011 routan. When the rear tires/brakes get wet either by rain or washing, and the parking brake is applied, the brakes will not release when you unlock the parking brake pedal, dealer kept the vehicle overnight and soaked rear brakes with garden hose and applied parking brakes, next morning it would not unlock, dealer replaced brake pad, took vehicle and went home same thing after rain, this is the 8th time i have been stranded in parking lots due to this, took back to dealer who then replaced rear brakes caliper, went home and same thing again once wet, took back to dealer who had a vw of america rep come to dealership and stated that the brakes when wet and parking brakes is applied "it is like wetting a sheet of glass and laying another sheet of glass on top it will stick" that the brakes locking up and requires 3000 rpm's while in drive to get them unstuck the vw rep stated " this is normal and nothing will be done. .i am very disappointed with the answer the vw rep left with the service manager john, that answer is not acceptable, i will not subject my wife and children to be possible stranded when the brakes get wet, it is currently taking 3000 rpm'sto force the brake to pop loud and unlock in order to drive the vehicle, this to me is not normal, i have driven many other vehicles in the rain and after washing never to have the brakes freeze up as with this 2011 routan, also reported excessive brake dust on both rear wheels, none on front wheels, all wv can tell me is my complains on this matter is documented?

The vw routanrecently when i got from the deleship i notice that everytime that i would apply the brakes while driving on the freeway then entire van would vibrate and the steering wheel would vibrate even more i did some research and i found that i wasn't the only routan owner having brake problemsso it looks like the brake rottors are over heating that thencaused the rottors to warped!!! so i took the car to the vw dealership and they had to replace all four rottors and brake pads!! but before replacing them they keep telling me that it was driver error. Car shut off numerous times while driving. There was no way to turn steering wheelit just stops nothing youcan do to keep it running hopefully no one is tailing me because if not i will definitely crash. Mechanic can't seem to find problem. Maybe tipm or key fob? changed key fob no luck

Driver's side sliding passenger door is stuck in locked position. Unable to open door manually or with remote.problem showed up around 90,000 miles, no indication of a cause.

The passenger side door has severe corrosion on the bottom. This was not noticed until after going thru a car wash. It is rusting from the inside out. Vw offers a 5 year 100,000 corrosion warranty but my in-service date has expired and they will not work with me at all. This is a default in the design of the door and i have found similar cases for the vw routan on the internet. This vehicle has not been in an accident or had this part of the vehicle repainted for any reason. This should not happen to a 5 year old vehicle.

The vehicle will randomly not start and the battery is drained.all the research i have done appears very similar to the fuel pump relay not shutting off and could be related to the tipm not working properly.it starts after i give it a jump. I had battery, starter, and alternator tested. They are all in perfect working condition.it started happening on sept 4, 2017 and continues randomly.

Car wont start, only sometimes.just turns over repeatedly, until you turn the key off.sometimes nothing happens.sometimes it starts normally.once it stalled.usually this happens on the first start, but sometimes it doesn't matter.

Takata recall.i bought a vw routan in march of this year with 77,000 miles on it. The first week i had it i went out to start it and it would not turn over. I tried it again and it started. Next day it did the same thing. Now its gotten so bad it takes 20 trys before it starts. Now my trans. Is jerking when i put it n gear.im taking it in tomorrow so i will let you know what happens.

Multiple instances. Vehicle shuts off while driving and will restart after sitting for an hour or two. The first instance occurred while traveling on a busy interstate at 65 mph. I had a semi to the right and another semi behind me when the vehicle stalled. Very scary! i took it to the dealership that i bought it from and they could not get the problem to repeat. No repair was made. This problem recurs every 6-10 days. I just purchased this vehicle about a month ago with 65,000 miles on it.

My 2011 vw routan completely lost power on the freeway while driving in heavy traffic. The steering completely locked up (not lost power steering), locked up and all components died while moving. It took two people to break the steering wheel loose so that the van could be pushed out of the road by tdot. We had the van towed and once removed from the truck it started and ran like normal.our 3 kids were also in the van which makes the situation extremely hazardous. Previous to this, we paid $1,500 to the vw dealer to replace the tipm unit because the van wouldnā€™t start on many occasions. The dealer stated that he knew chrysler had issued a recall on their vehicles with these same issuesbut vw hadnā€™t taken any action.other infoā€¦ no dash lights are/were on.dealer canā€™t seem to reproduce the issue. Tdot officer said heā€™d never seen a vehicle that locked the steering while the car was in motion. This was worse than it loosing all power.

Was driving vehicle in illinois and was pushing the gas but the car would not move. Finally it kind of jolted forward and starting moving but in a jerky kind of way.brought it for a diagnostic test they said it was a warrant issue take it the the dealer. Did that they said it was not under warrant and i paid 1000 bucks to get it fixed so i thought. Happened again and went back and they said it will not do it so it is fine.drove to arizona to move here and after a week of being here happened again.husband drove it to the dealership 3 times, the first time they said they could not fix it. 2nd time said it was a known recall they could not get the code from corporate, 3rd time same excuse. And now trying again and they keep saying they can not get the code from corporate. It is a pcm software recall.

The vehicle looses all power while driving. If you hit a bump or touch the key it causes the key connection to stop and loss of all power. Have to put car in neutral while driving and restart it. This has happened while driving on the interstate and driving on rural roads. All areas. This has happened multiple times.

Integrated body control/ecu:tipm module malfunction.

When driving for about 25 and then getting to a stop light. As i slow down and start to come to a stop the car shakes very roughly and turns right off. The first time this happened was 3 days after getting car from carmax. It had not happened again until this week.

Van intermittent starts, had the win replaced and it's still doing it, dealership can't figure it out.same year and make has many of the same problem and complaints.frustrating that the manufacturer will not take responsibility.

Thank you!!

Intermittent starting - from what i understand this vehicle is basically a chrysler town & country.chyrsler issued a recall on the faulty tmpi fuel pump relay but vw refuses.is this allowed??? it is the same vehicle.it is not fair that i have to pay to fix a part that is known to be faulty from the start.

The contact stated that while driving 5 mph and parking the vehicle, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning with the brakes depressed. The vehicle then crashed into metal poles and another vehicle. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where the contact was awaiting the results of a pending investigation. The failure and current mileages were approximately 242.

Clock spring failure causing the cruise control to not work. Search indicated the same clock spring issue with other vw models in the same year. It is an ongoing problem and the dealer is not willing to help without authorizing hundreds of dollars for troubleshooting.

1st incident-parking car in a stall, car shuts off before parked.p0111 replace air temp sensor2nd incident-exiting the freeway on a single lane just under 35mph engine shuts off, steering wheel locks right, apply brakes lightly, shift into neutral to turn wheel to pull on shoulder.p0300 and p0302 code.dealer replace bank #2 cylinder head and necessary parts.(incident posted information)3rd incident-merging on freeway up the hill, engine bogs and shuts off, was on far right lane pulled to side.dealer says misfire on cylinder #6 with no dtc code, says ignition coil problem on #6.

The contact owns a 2011 volkswagen routan. While the contact was driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle began to increase acceleration without warning and the throttle became stuck. After several attempts the accelerator pedal released and the vehicle began to function normally. The identical failure occurred on more than one occasion. The contact was in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,300. Updated 8/30/11 the consumer believed the after market floor mat was the problem. Once he removed the floor mat, the problem ceased. Updated09/28/11

I drive a 2011 vw routan se and am having to replace wheel bearings. This is not a repair that should likely really ever need to be done let alone on all 4 wheels at under 100k miles . This is ridiculous and a recall needs to happen asap
