The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen rabbit.the contact stated that the air bag light has remained illuminated.he has attempted to contact the original owner, but they have yet to return his phone call.he notified the dealer and set up and appointment.the contact stated that when someone is seated, the light illuminates.he referred to the owners manual.the engine size and powertrain were unknown.the current mileage is 4,000 and failure mileage was 600.
Takata recall. Rabbit is unlisted but contains exact equipment as other models. Does this pertain to the vehicle? also. Weight of engine impact struts then to the suspension lineages,arms,etc...thus, affecting the weight of the vehicles from this five-cylinder engine to cause bushings to fail. The equipment was designer original for the four-cylinder models even with turbocharger. The composites of the bushings have sustained a quality degradation to the point of poor synthetics.
The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen rabbit.while driving 35 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle and caused $9,000 worth of damage to the entire front end of his vehicle.he smelled the powder coming from the air bags; however, they failed to deploy.the contact was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.the vehicle was towed from the scene.the contact was transported to the hospital in an ambulance due to his injuries.a police report was filed.the failure mileage was 30,000.
Passenger air bag light comes on continuously after seat is moved to allow passengers in the back seat. The light came on and stayed on. The symbol for air bag (warning light on dash) stays illuminated. The red sensor for passenger air bag on/off stays on off. I have seen in forums many people have this problem after getting it replaced, changed, cleared etc. The airbag light should not be on and the safety of the airbags should not be determined by me moving the seat on a 2dr hatchback to allow additional riders to the back seat. My airbag is currently disabled due to this even though all of the wires are in tact and not damaged.
Airbag warning light keeps coming on stating maulfuction when checked could not find problem.was told do not worry about it do i have a reason to worry???
Takata recall, the air bag light appeared on the dashboard. I brought my vehicle to a local volkswagendealer to check it and i was the air bag defected on the passenger side; and i was told that the air bag was not on the recall. I wonder why volkswagen rabbit 2007 was not on the recall?my vehicle just had 68047 miles. I look forward to getting info asap. Thanks
Halogen headlamp bulb lifetime is shorter than expected. Too often i have to buy new bulbs and it's very unsafe on the road during a day.
My key is stuck in the ignition on the acc position. I can only start the car. It will not turn to the off position. The only way i am able to shut off the car is to pull 2 fuses under the hood. Vehicle was stationary when this problem began.
The heated driver's seat became uncomfortably hot and burned several holes through the foam and fabric.
Engine dies while acceleration from a start causing a dangerous situation. This happens about 6 out of every 10 starts . Taken in for repair twice.the car has now been in for the second time for 3 weeks. The dealer repair manager has yet to determine the problem.
I want to add a complaint to the volkswagen mark five model's crankshaft position sensor. For some reason, this senor at times does something to the engine and it kills the engine. It has happened twice in the span of 4 months. Everything is on, including headlights, all electrical systems, steering but at high speeds, the engine dies and i've had to coast to a stop to restart it and restarts without any problems. I've looked at forums to see what could be causing it and my pointed to the crankshaft positioning sensor. It's occurred to vehicles with high and low mileage.
At random, the traction control abs light on the dashboard cluster has gone off. The mechanic states that the issue is the abs module, and that it needs replacing. There is no known reason for its failure, but the vehicle is now without abs. A similar recall was issued for other vehicles with the same abs module from later years, so i would expect that it should be perfectly reasonable to issue a recall for this serious and potentially life-threatening issue.
This past weekend i arrived home late saturday night/early sunday morning to my local, well-lit train station that i use regularly. I locked my car (as i always do) using the remote and made sure that my car beeped before i boarded the train. I arrived home 9 hours later by myself (i'm a petite 29 yr. Female) and as i got to my car (which had condensation on the windows) i pressed the unlock on the remote and opened the door only to find a man sitting inside my driver's seat. I quickly shut the door but the man immediately got out and approached me.i was trapped in the parking lot with this man for 15 minutes by myself at 1am. I am just shocked as to how he got into my vehicle. I paid thousands of dollars for this vehicle to keep me safe and in this economy i expect that the money i invested in this car would do just that. I finally convinced this man to let me go but the fact of the matter is that he rummaged through my entire car looking for valuables (luckily nothing was in plain sight). My personal space has been violated and i live in fear since this incident. Walking up to my car has been difficult as i just picture his face when i open the door. I took my car to the dealership today and it appears that the locking mechanism on my driver's side door is faulty. I should not be responsible for this cost and the manufacturer should issue a recall for the door locks. I am lucky to be telling you this story but i need a resolution. If nothing is done, who else will fall victim to this defect?
Frequent near stalls of my 2007 rabbit 2.5 automatic. This is my 2nd report to you and advised by the orlando sentinel reporter . The car's rpm drops about 1000 rpm on normal acceleration for about 4-6 seconds, never shutting off but just sitting there. This has occurred since taking the lease car in 08, but the dealership refuses to acknowledge the defect. Numerous similar complaints have been filed with edmunds and no action has been taken. This is a very dangerous condition if turning in front of an oncoming line of traffic, and i want it fixed, but also acknowledged by vw. An orlando vw technician told me it also happened in one of their new c model deluxe vw's a month ago. This drop off of power happens almost every time the car is driven. I will advise the orlando sentinel's reporter i have contacted you again. Thank you.updated 01/18/11. Updated 04/13/11
Defective coolant fan #2 manufactured by siemens.p1951 fault code for non operational coolant fan #2 occurred on 09/29/2011 at 122,163 miles for a 2007 vw rabbit. Vw dealership detected the fault and replaced the defective coolant fan #2 with a new siemens coolant fan #2 at owners request on 09/29/2011. On 08/20/2014 at 182,000 miles the replacement 09/29/2011 siemens coolant fan #2 failed and stopped working. A second fault code p1951 was detected by a certified and licensed private mechanic. Second siemens coolant fan #2 found defective in less than 3 years and 60,000 miles. Original coolant fan # 2 lasted 4 years and 122,000 miles.
While starting the car, several diagnostic lights came on, including the ecp and check engine light. Entering the reverse gear made the car accelerate fast backwards when releasing the breaks but not using the gas pedal to accelerate. The surprise it came with could have led to back into cars or passengers standing behind. The car fell into a safety mode, forward accelerated very slowly to max 30 mph while heading to a shop.

Displaying abs light, electronic stability light, emergency brake beeps then light remains on blinking, steering alignment light displays, changed out the rear abs sensors and the right rear wheel hub, all lights remain on. Because my car was manufactured in 2007 it is not part of the recall for the abs module (a known issue) so either i park the car permanently or cough up a ridiculous amount of money to fix a known issue. I have driven the car at lower speeds and several times was forced to rely on the e-brake because the brake pedal would not operate. It is seriously dangerous to have on the road due to an issue that volkswagen been aware of for a long period of time.

#1: body: noted that driver's side door latch would not lock and trouble with securing. Door open alarm would not sound when door was open. Submitted vehicle to vw dealership for repair. Door latch was found to be defective. The door latch was replaced.#2: engine: noted that fan would not engage. Dealership ran a gff. Found fault p1951 coolant fan #2 difficulty of movement/blocked. Ran test found #2 faulty. Dealership replaced cooling fan #2.
2007 vw rabbit with 20,000 miles manual transmission stalls during take off after being warmed up. Taking off from a green light the car will suddenly and quickly come to a stop and have to be restarted causing traffic behind me to catch up very fast almost causing a collision. This has happened numerous times. I have had the car to the local vw dealer 3 times and the last time they had it for 2 weeks.the dealer has replaced spark plugs, coli packs, mass air flow sensor, catalytic converter, performed a static discharge on complete wiring system, reset throttle body and basic settings and reset readiness codes. The problem is still not solved.
I own a 2007 volkswagen rabbit. About 4 months after i got it, it started stalling. Only when my car is idling. It also sputters and is not running smoothly. Recently i started hearing a knocking noise under my hood. I've taken it into the dealership over and over and they send me home, saying they cant replicate the problem.the knocking happens on a regular basis, the stalling randomly happens, sometime i can go weeks without my car stalling, other times its only a few days. They've done nothing to fix this problem, just send me on my way. I need answers, and this problem to be fixed.

Above ambient temperatures of 80 degrees fahrenheit and 20 minutes of highway driving my 2007 vw rabbit experiences bogging, jerking stalling upon coming back onto surface streets mainly the issue occurs on launching at stop lights and stop signs. Issue occurs between 3/4 and 2/3 of a tank. Incident repeats whenever conditions are right. So far diagnostic testing has turned up few leads however a variant of my car has a pending recall for similar symptoms. After getting off from work in new jersey the car suddenly stopped running.battery light and check engine light was on.battery was fine because radio, air conditioner, and other features were running.fuel pump had to be replaced before mileage reached 9,000.
The vehicle was brand new, less than a day old from the dealership, with only 240 miles on it.the vehicle was driven to dinner, and after dinner it would not start, there was a strong fuel smell.looked under the car and noticed a significant fuel leak.manufacture sent a tow truck. The local dealership said it was a fuel line that had been improperly installed at the factory. They re-attached it.

Excessive brake wear at 6k miles on my car due to over tightening of parking brake at factory, thus causing pads to stick and wear out way too early.
Downshifting hard on its onoil leaking on top and bottom of engine
The transmission failed the gears were hard to engage when driving it.finally it left my daughter and granddaughter stranded in the street on her way to work.
My 2007 vw rabbit has a known safety issue with the valve body system. I took my vehicle to findlay vw in november 2014 to have this issue fixed, as i had just become aware that there was a known issue which met the criteria of my problem exactly. I was told that "their hands were tied" due to the fact that this issue had to have been repaired before 2013. I then asked why i was never informed that there was an issue with this and was told they had mailed out a letter-which many people in las vegas including myself did not receive-and was told that if i had moved it may not have been forwarded. I then asked why they had not informed me of this issue any of the times i had brought my vw in for service. Their service director then informed me that it is "not their policy" to check for any recalls or known issues. He interrupted my repeatedly, spoke over me, and when i asked to speak with his boss was told that i would have to call back and he hung up on me! this car is intended for my daughter who is learning to drive and is unsafe! i am under the mileage they require to fix this, and it is the correct year and model.this is absolutely unacceptable to be treated in such a fashion. I have also contacted vw corporate who have also refused to stand behind this issue and repair this problem.

The vehicle failed to shift into second gear causing the car to stop...rpm's increased. I reported this to the dealer and was told that the valve body would need replacement and would cost $1700. I delayed the repair due to the cost and the transmission seemed to shift fine for several hundred miles however a loud clunk began to develop ( on and off...sporadically) in shifting between 1st and 2 gears.i called the dealer and was told that the valve body was the likely cause of the clunking.a repair order was not written because i delayed due to the cost.finally i took it in late march to have the valve body replaced.i was told that the condition would not generate a code on the computer.i also asked if they have seen a lot of rabbits/golfs in for this and the answer was : "yes unfortunately we do".after i dropped the car off i decided to google this condition and found that vw had know about this safety defect and had extended the warranty to 7 years 100,000 miles.irate that i was never informed about it decided to call vw and complained that i should have been told about the extension and i would have brought it in sooner for the repair.they now refuse to fix under warranty because it has 101,700 miles. It seems that they do not communicate with the customers about this issue although they claim a letter was sent to owners.this known safety defect (the valve body assembly) should be on a mandatory recall...or the very least the factory should ensure that the owners actually are aware of this issue through certified mail and dealer communication via the service drive.the dealer claims they did not know my vehicle was covered or they would have communicated this to me?they are sweeping a known safety item under the rug until the car reaches 100k , after the warranty ends to fix it.there are many blogs on the internet that show this is common.
The driver side seat gets so hot while the heated seats are on.i can not turn them up above setting 1 otherwise you smell something burning. Updated 4/24/2015
The heated driver's seat became uncomfortably hot and burned several holes through the foam and fabric.
Vehicle was in motion on city street in north chatham, ma.smell of burning. Pulled over and discovered that the electric seat heater had burnt a hole in the drivers seat back.a hole was also burnt in the outer layer of my goose down coat where it made contact with burning seat back.burnt hole in seat is approximately 0.375 inch diameter.
The driver seat is stuck and wont move forward or backward. Something is broken in the mechanism of the seat tracks and levers.i can not reach the pedals. Passengers in the rear cannot safely exit the vehicle quickly. The release mechanism on the passenger seat near the head rest also stopped working. The seat folds down but the seat does not slide forward.
The seat heaters are not regulating temperature consistently and i noticed the driver's seat has a hole burned in it from the heater.i am afraid to use it in case it causes a fire, since it appears it already burned a hole.
Electrical burning heated seatssetting: 5 smelt burning wire smell while driving, then felt a burning sensation in my back. Turned off heated seats pulled over. Pull over. Mk5 volkswagen rabbit 2007 2.5
The seat heater burned through the seat and would no shut off.

Upon approaching a red light brakes were applied but did not slow the vehicle. Rather than stopping the pedal depressed to the floor with resistance but never slowed the vehicle resulting in a rear end collision.
While driving and attempting to stop the brakes become very stiff and push up against your foot similar to what traction control does but the more you press on th brake peddle the harder it becomes to stop. This is intermittent but alarming enough that the car is not being used.
Abs control module - approximately $2,000 to replacevw has already recalled the abs control module for '08 and up cars...i happen to have an '07 with the same module that is not covered by the recall.
Displaying abs light, electronic stability light, emergency brake beeps then light remains on blinking, steering alignment light displays, changed out the rear abs sensors and the right rear wheel hub, all lights remain on. In december of 2014 while travelling at a high rate of speed. The clutch master cylinder completely failed. Leaving no way to engage or use it at all. Took it to the shop where it was 600 bucks for a new one the plastic pin inside had completely broke in half. In may of 2015 the transmission would not shift into gear while at a high rate of speed , it goes in and out and the mechanic said there is something broke inside a sealed transmission, making it very unsafe to drive. It is scary when it goes from working to not working in a split second.i have owned this vehicle since it was new.
I leased a 07 rabbit and after about 12k miles my rear brakes started making weird scratching sounds. And it eventually stopped but it came back twomonths later and i brought it to my dealership (donaldsons vw and subaru) and they told me that i let my brakes wear out.. Which when i took off the tire and checked there was still more then 50% pad left. I knew this because i had bought new ones and i was going to change it myself. So due to this they said i messed up my rotors were broken too. So i ended up being charged about a 500 dollars to be fixed. Currently, this is happening again to the same part of my car i hear a loud scratching sound and i checked to see my brakes and there is way more then 50% of my padding left.. I've been looking it up online and there is all these complaints about how the emergency brake is not adjusted right on any of the 06-09 model vw's. I feel this is in need of a recall due to the fact that it can do some serious damage to the car. I feel as if when i brake now i have to do it just so slightly or i might break something and end up not being able to stop.
Our 2007 vw rabbit needs to have rear brake pads and rotors replaced... The car only has 25k on it, and this problem began to appear three months prior to today. The service department told us three months ago that the pads looked okay, even though a nys inspection station said the rear pads were very low. Now, they are hitting us up for $450.00 repair; they say it is not covered by warranty, but is 'standard' wear! what car needs pads and rotors so early?this is a defect.
2007 vw rabbit made a grinding noise while using the brakes. Consumer states that dealer told him that the left rear brake was metal to metal and the right one was almost metal to metal.the dealership could not determine the reason for the uneven wearing of the rear brakes. The dealer replaced the brake pads and rotors.
I have a 2007 vw rabbit, purchased august 13, 2007. Manufactured 05/2007 my brakes appeared to be squealing under light depression of the brake pedalduring low speed braking situations. I brought my vehicle to the dealer nearest me. When alleged repair of my vehicle was completed the dealer informed me that remaining pad life averaged 80% for all four wheels. However upon completion of work vehicle squealed louder than when vehicle was dropped off for service. When i inquired as to the cause of the squeals origin, the service writer informed me that "squealing was normal" i (owner) am a bmw diagnostic level iii technician with over 10 years service experience. Educated at uti, i have the benefit of the theoretical expertise to understand the the principals affecting the brakes systems employed by german auto makers. Upon arriving home that evening, after properly securing my vehicle on a stable and level surface i raised the rear wheels off the ground and inspected for causation, only to find less that 5% friction material remaining. (approx 1.5mm) and rotor damage had begun with rotor surface deformation the next likely event. To abate this event from occurring, i replaced the rear pads, and the squealing ended. When i inquired whether the causation of accelerated and uneven brake pad wear could have been caused by a defective proportioning valve, or caliper defect, the vw customer service representative referred me to "nitsa.com" (which had its domain expire 2 years ago in 2005) she stated that vw was unable to remedy any situation other than through dealer representation. Though i rectified the manufacturers fault, had i listened to the dealer recommendation of 80% pad life remaining i could have died from metal to metal contact of pad base to rotor with the possibility of fire or crash. Having little to no recourse.thank you for any and all assistance you may be able to render in this matter.sincerely, peter villafana
Rear brake pads worn quicker than normal, at 12,000 miles they started wearing down and the metallic sound started to occur.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen rabbit.while driving 70 mph, the contact stated the steering failed which caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a guard rail. The air bags did not deploy.the contact was taken to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a concussion.the vehicle was destroyed.the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to send pictures of the crash. A police report was filed.the current and failure mileages was 107,000.

Sagging headliner around sunglass holder in front. Water leak through windshield (original, no accidents), water everywhere inside car. Stationary in a parking lot during rainstorm.
Rabbit issues: 4 months in.to give you an idea...with 300000 lms on the car i was stuck in inner city traffic just after i pulled out of my street where i lived. It was a warm day in january, and i had let the car warm up , but when i was in traffic it decided to stall.i had to wait a few seconds to get the motor to turn back over. The car had been shaking more then it would normally a few moments before.then, the other day, i startedthe car, cleanedthe snow off,and then drove off. Getting out of my streethad to cross a really busy street to make the turn, when i went to hit the gas to get into a free spot on the road the car revved really high, but the car didn't respond. The car drove like i was only wanting it to go 10 mph , but i had hit the pedal to get it to go way faster given the busy street. The revvs were there like the car was in neutral or something, but it didn't respond. I immediatelychecked theautomatic gear box to see if i had accidentally bumped the sifter into neutral, but i hadn't it. I almost got killed.very strange. I whipped the sweat off of my forehead and kept driving slowly and it was okay.i even triedthe gas pedalagain to see if it would not respond, but it did almost like there was no fuel coming through, but that didn'tmake sense because the revvs were there. I will have it checked out next time i go to my dealer.
Cruise control on my 2007 volkswagen rabbit will intermediately come on and off. According to blogs and volkswagen rabbits also notice this. At one point i sawmyself only doing 40 mph when i had the cruise set on 70 mph.
I bought a used 2007 volkswagen rabbit with 22,500 km jan. 10, 2009. I drove the vehicle fairly steadily in the city and on the freeway the week after the purchase . While on the freeway i did notice a substantial acceleration on one occasion when i passed although i did not accelerate very much, however i thought i might have engaged passing acceleration. Then a few days later on jan. 17, 2009 a week later, i was in quite a frightening accident that resulted in considerable damage. Thankfully no one was injured. I had gone to a small shopping mall that had parking in front of the shops. I pulled into a stall in front of one of the shops and was gently accelerating to pull up to the stall curb when the car accelerated out of control into the shop damaging the building and the car. The whole thing happened so quickly, i couldn't even react to put on the brakes. Had people been walking in front of the car, they would have been killed. I am not an aggressive driver and i have not had an accident in 25 years. I was in a state of shock. Due to the seriousness of what happened, i thought you should know in the event others start to happen. Right now i am in the process of getting the vehicle repaired and try to determine what happened.
