Suspect clock spring failed.airbag indicator light is illuminated.lost all functions to steering wheel mounted controls.vw would not pay for the repair.

Usually during hot weather conditions, the failure is present.the failure - car hesitates under acceleration almost as if the fuel is being cutoff. Other times it stalls during idle at stop light. Other times the car will take two or three tries to restart. When parked after a drive the vehicle leaks fuel behind the passenger side rear wheel.occurs randomly and the dealer cannot reproduce the issue. Parts replaced - purge valve to fix the fuel leak and hesitation. The car does not leak fuel anymore, however the hesitation issue is still present.

Front right light bulb went out, went to dealer, they diagnosed the problem, replaced bulb $256.00.1 week later the bulb goes out again and the dealer tells me that water leaked into the control unit and that the unit costing $600.00 has to be replaced otherwise the light will keep going out.they also tell me that the seal around the headlight unit will be leaking water soon.

My brand-new 08 vwmakes severe hiccups on moderate acceleration when the outside temperature is above about 95 f. (sudden loss of power and come back up in short period of time.)have starting problem after the symptom, sometimes smell of gas from outside rear. The problem does not leave any error codes on computer, therefore dealers cannot fix or replicate problem. (usually takes about 30 min constant drive in the hot weather to have the symptom.)had numerous visit to a vw dealer but no fix. Always end up with my claim comments; "customer states..." and dealer states, "can not replicate the problem".i keep having the same problem since last year, only when outside is really hot (for california), above 95f. Total of 6-7 days i've had the same problem since last year.

Both headlights failed. Headlight wiring is deteriorated. Wire insulation is brittle, cracked and separated, leaving the wiring exposed causing electrical shortages, bulb and ballast failure. Local volkswagen dealer performed diagnoses during the 60000 mile maintenance upon my request. "found internal headlight wire harnesses in both headlights coming apart (deteriorated), estimate to replace both headlights assemblies and reprogram lighting system $1,517.00. May also need bulbs ($168.00 each plus tax) and also may need igniters ($272.08 each plus tax) tech can not make the determination until headlight assemblies are replaced."

Suddenly started hearing loud noise from the engine then it stopped.there were no warning lights.i pulled over and saw that the serpentine belt had shattered.had the car towed to the dealer and they tell me the tensioner bearing failed and that caused the serpentine belt to fail.they are quoting $760 to repair (parts and labor).1000 miles prior i did the 40k service which included tensioner and belt adjustment.

This is the second time i am bringing this to the dealer. While driving the engine dies and cant start it again. Had to get it towed to dealer in the middle of nowhere. Dealer asked what was wrong i said it felt as if the battery died and the engine just died. They tried fixing it and it happened again. This time however i was able to drive it to the dealer before it died again. Same problem. Volkswagen dealer has it and had it over a week. My service advisor doesn't even know what the problem is and cant promise me a date when they will have it ready. I feel unsafe because of the fact the car just dies in the middle of the road.

I have had several issues with some corrected but the hesitation of power and shifting issues with dsg continue to persist. Several times i have tried to accelerate and the car does not respond immediately, this has happened on the expressway several times. There is also some jerking in the car as it tries to go through gears. It also feels like it is going to stall before it actually gets going. Finally, the car hasrumble feel through the pedal and feels like it is fighting itself and when you turn the wheel to the left it starts an on and off rumble.other problems that have occurred were a loud knocking which was eventually fixed by replacing the entire engine. They first replaced the flywheel thinking that was the issue.

Vw r32 hid headlight system burns out bulbs and smells like burnt wires.the bulb igniter wires inside the light housing have the insulation falling off leaving the wires exposed and touching each other.i attempted to insulate bare wires, but they still keep deteriorating farther down the wire.there are 3 wires that run to the bulb igniter socket that connects to the bulb.i feel this insulation has a manufacture defect. Other electrical wires in the housing are still fine.

When certain driving conditions are accompanied by high ambient temperatures, the fuel tank ventilation valve may not remain fully closed. If this happens, liquid fuel may enter the fuel tank venting system and migrate into the evaporative system, saturating the carbon canister. Should this occur while driving, the vehicle may experience performance issues (i.e., vehicle jerking) and the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) in the instrument cluster could illuminate. Fuel could leak from the evaporative system leak detection pump filter.consequencea fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a vehicle fire.

The center high mounted stoplight (3rd brake light) has condensation and at times appears to flicker. The factory resolution is to send the car to a body shop to remove the factory spoiler and replace the light assembly. The factory manual warns that this is a multi-day job and may result in a broken spoiler and possible body damage. This appears to be a clear violation of fmvss 108 which requires that replacing the bulbs be simple and require only common tools.this is on a 2008 vw r32, but the issue is on all 2006 - 2009 vw gti and r32 cars. The rabbit has a different spoiler design and is not as severely affected - although an uncommon tool is still required for replacement.

The third brake light of my 2008 volkswagen r32 has a condensation buildup. Because of the way the light is constructed into the body of the car, other's have informed me that this is a major job to fix (including hours of labor and extensive body work). I was told that this was also in violation of regulation fmvss 108, and thus should file a complaint. The dealer that i took it to said this was a "normal" condition and that there was nothing that they could do (which conflicts what other's have said).

The car was experiencing "hiccups" while accelerating and would eventually smell and see gas escaping out from underneath the passenger side rear tire. Was taken to the dealer ship 3 times before for this and now i am told it is a faulty gas tank that was produced. I have been currently waiting about a month to have the tank repaired. All i have been told on this subject is "we will contact you at the end of the business day tomorrow". Its always tomorrow. The dealer has offered me a couple of things to keep my mine as easy while i wait but i honestly think that waiting a month for a brand new car to get fixed is ridiculous.

The engine power of my 2008 vw r32 continued to cut out periodically for a few weeks, the cel never once came on. This problem persisted regardless of the weather or vehicle speed. One day while my wife was driving, she was stopped at a traffic signal and the car died, she restarted it and noticed a fuel odor. Since she was near my work (approx three miles) she restarted the car once she got there and turned off the car, fuel started leaking behind the right rear wheel.

Car started to bog-out of power on tuesday october 7th in the afternoon. Fuel started to leak from the right rear wheel area on wednesday october 8th in the afternoon.this happens to be a common issue with this make/model/trim of the prodcuct line.a prominent automobile forum website (vwvortex.com) has allocated a room for this specific model/trim. The following is a link to the topic dedicated to this common issue:http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3759501&page=15i am scared to drive this car again.

2008 vw r32, the car would throw check engine lights all the time, the check gas cap light came on randomly days after last fill up, the car would randomly have lost of power or stall, takes 20 seconds after fill up to start and run properly, some times not start at all. The car first went in to a vw dealer september 3 2008 with 10599miles , the dealer could not find a fault for the check engine light they gave me the car back and they contacted vw technical support . Contacted me a few days later and said parts were ordered and will be in soon. September 12 2008 car taken back in for parts to be put on. The car runs ok but it throws a check engine light and random check gas cap lights again. The car has a hard time starting. January 6 2009 16,032 miles car taken back in for stalling, not starting, loss of power. Vw dealer master mechanic cannot find problem car is given back to me with the problems, vw dealer contacts vw technical support.january 12 200916247milesi have had the last straw, i had to push the car out of a fuel pump cause the car wont start!!! i took the car back to vw dealer and it has been in there since january 12 2009 and today is february 9 2009.

The car loses power (i.e. Hiccups or hesitates) at highway speeds, most noticeable on even the slightest acceleration - even with cruise control on.at times it will idle in a similar staggered way.when city driving the same problem occurs on acceleration. It happens randomly but once it starts, it persists until the car has been shut off and cools down.

Fuel system on car broke while driving 75mph on the freeway causing the car to jerk and drop in speed in the middle of traffic. Fuel smell out of a/c vents. Vw has acknowledged the problem and has said they've had this on many cars of the same model. Vw is replacing the entire fuel system resulting the car to be in the service shop for 30 plus days.

No event lead up to failure.the car sputters, hiccups, what ever you want to call it.it has stalled in traffic, and had to be pushed out of the intersection, it would not start back up and smelled of fuel.on numerous occasions it will not start.it cuts out around corners, and has done it with the vw service manager in the car.

My vehicle has stalled twice on me when it had 6647 miles. It occurred twice in a span of two hours. I was driving and the car started to "hiccup". It jumps between shifts, this occurs mostly when it is humid outside. The vehicle also emits a loud ticking sound from the gas tank, and in extremely cold weather the gas needle bounces. Took it to the dealership 4 times and they found no problems, however they did take a joyride two of those times in the car. (found the radio station set and equalizer toyed with) in addition, the car sometimes smells like fuel.

Fuel leak causes the car to lose fuel. The fuel leaks out externally. The car will sometimes jerk and stall or lose power.

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32.the contact stated that the vehicle was stalling and he smelled gasoline.he was able to restart the vehicle after allowing it to cool down for a couple of hours.the vehicle operates normally for a few weeks before the failure recurs.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they could not remedy the failure.the vehicle stalled once again.the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 09v093000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly), although the failures were identical.the contact does not know if the vehicle will be repaired.the failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 11,000.

The car hiccupped and began to run very ruff no power and i was on freeway in the valley area (hot over 100 f) car seemed to correct itself after reaching cooler area. Visited the dealer they found no faults with car. This has been happening to numerous 2008 vw r32 cars.

1. Car was running fine till about little less than a month. On 10/13/08 put car in reverse and car was experiencing rapid fluctuations in rpms and engine would die when shifting to drive. Had difficulty in re-starting car. Put car in drive and felt jerky non-responsive acceleration with transmission banging and engine died again while driving. 2. Car died 4 times engine would stop while driving totally loss of power. Consequences are major safety concerns and possible accidents can occur from this malfunction3. Brought into dealer, they could not reproduce problem & said they couldn't do anything. Gave car back & said they hoped it didn't happen again. No parts replaced.car recently experienced this problem again 1/11/2009 & 1/12/2009.

This "hiccup" just started happening to me. I took the r32 on a road trip from miami up to northern florida (500 miles north of miami), and 30 miles into the trip this happened. We had just topped off the tank with 93 (girlfriend assured me she didn't fill it up with 87) so this couldnt have been the issue. I was driving at roughly 3,000 rpm's when the car would hiccup all on its own... ? i didn't even need to give it gas for this to happen. I have 14,000 miles on the car, and it got worse throughout the trip. The car even shut off on me 2 times while sitting at a traffic light. I'm scared that the car will shut off on me while on the highway which is a big threat to my life!has anyone noticed this get worse when your tank is at full? i haven't had this happen to me again the 1 day i've been back in miami. I read some reply's on this topic and looks like vw has no official fix yet? what's the diagnosis? bad fuel bump???the original post can be found here:http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3759501&page=27.

On october 27, 2008 i was traveling on one of the local highways, when i began to experience a loss in power, rapid misfire and hesitation in my 2008 vw r32. Prior to said date, i experienced the same faults several times, which i mentioned to my local service advisor. My local service advisor informed me that volkswagen of america (vwoa) was aware of the wide-spread problem and was currently working on a solution. Currently, i have been working with my regional case manager from vwoa. However, the last time that i spoke with my regional case manager was on december 11, 2008. When i briefly spoke with my regional case manager from vwoa, he explained to me that the parts needed for repair of my r32 would soon be released. However, i received that same statement in october and november when i asked about the service status of my vehicle. On the 17th of dec 2008, vwoa received a letter from me stating that 'i no longer have faith in the reliability and safety of the r32 that i purchased, and that i wish to seek state-specific (lemon-law) warranty for my r32.' in addition, i express that prior to pursuing the lemon-law option; i am willing to resolve this issue amicably. However, as of 4 january 2009, i have not received any information from vwoa.

1) purchased the car and noticed the jumps twice on my way home. It has since continued to be an issue for the whole two weeks of my ownership.2) accelerating from a full stop the car hesitates, hangs, and then jumps forward after a moment. This happens about half the time. I notice when i roll slowly ~5 mph it does not hang or jump nearly as much or as often.3) nothing has been done as of yet. I plan to take my 2008 vw r32 to the dealership to see what may be the cause.

First minor incidents: my wife and i have been experiencing intermittent hiccups in power for a few weeks. No cels or indication of anything wrong otherwise.first serious incident: at highway speed (70mph) 30 minutes into a commute, the car loses power and throws the driver forward in the seat. Was able to finish the remainder of commute barely limping along with erratic throttle response, stalling, and stuttering. Upon arrival, notice smell of fuel and see fuel puddle behind right rear wheel. Vw roadside assistance would not respond due to report of fuel leak. Told to call fire dept -- fire dept responded. Aaa towed to dealer. After 19 days at the dealer, the car's entire fuel tank was replaced. A defect in the evaporative emissions system was reported as the cause. We were assured the vehicle was safe and the new system was redesigned. Second major incident: repeat of first major incident above only days later. Car currently in shop. Evidence of widespread issue being discussed at vwvortex.com among numerous reports of same issue but no resolution or official acknowledgment of this issue from vwofa as of yet. This is extremely unsafe condition for a car that is brand new.

My 2008 volkswagen r32 exhibits intermittent fuel delivery issues.at times, usually following a refueling, the car seems to "hiccup" and briefly lose power, as if the fuel supply was cut off momentarily.this causes a severe jerking in the car, and can happen at low speeds after rounding a corner or at constant freeway speeds. Other symptoms include stumbling and stalling while at idle in traffic; with difficulty in restarting as if the vehicle is starved for fuel.the vehicle has also failed to start upon first use of the day, cranking over but not seeming to receive fuel, even though the tank may be full.other issues include difficulty with refueling when tank is near empty.often, the gas station fuel dispensers will shut off 10 or more times when beginning to fill up the tank, as if air were blocking the filler neck and causing the automatic pump shutoff to kick in.it can take many tries before one is finally able to completely fuel the vehicle, which only holds 14.5 gallons.on two occasions, the automatic fuel cutoff in the gas station dispenser did not detect a full tank and the fuel actually overflowed out of filler neck and onto the ground until i manually shut of the fuel dispensers. It seems the evaporative purge canister or lines are easily blocked in this design, and i question whether there are other vapor lock or vacuum issues with the fuel system design that are involved.i am taking my vehicle to the dealer for service on 11/26 for an attempt at diagnosis.many other owners of this vehicle in the online forum "vwvortex.com" have also reported similar problems with this vehicle, and are having little success in repair through vwoa.i consider this to be a potentially dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32.the contact stated that the vehicle would jerk and the gas tank ventilation valve allowed gasoline to escape from the gas tank.the malfunction indicator lamp on the instrument panel would illuminate and fuel would leak from the evaporative system.the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 09v093000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly).the failure mileage was 10,000.

My brand new r32 has been stalling/hiccuping since 3100 miles. It has a lose of power under acceleration, then idles rough and sometimes dies. The check engine light comes on and the gas cap light comes on but as soon as you turn the car off and back on it goes away. It has died twice while driving in traffic and wouldn't start back, i've had it towed to the dealer twice. The dealer has replaced my purge valve and evap cannister twice, it runs fine for about 2 weeks then starts all over again. The car only has 7550 miles on it now and it's back at the dealer once again.

I exited from a driveway at a riteaid to get to the light across the street, i have about 3/4 tank of gas and the odometer reads 175 miles, when i get to the my next destination, a drive thru, the fuel marker starts dropping fast and so does my odometer, it goes down to above 1/4 of a tank and my miles read 110 left, in a span of about 10-15 minutes. The vehicle was stationary in the drive thru except when moving

Raw fuel spewing from leak detection pump (ldp) filter located under passenger side fender well. Charcoal canister, ldp, evap lines, & n80 valve all contaminated by raw fuel. Fuel entering evap system when high ambient temps are present. P026 recall was already performed (in 2012) but issue has come back. Contacted vwoa they said it's beyond the recall's 1 year 12,000 mile extended warranty and that they would not do anything to fix the issue. This is a fire hazard that could potentially lead to serious injury and/or death. Because vw knows about this issue they should be held accountable. Vehicle was driving in normal city traffic when i smelled raw fuel. Pulled over to see fuel spilling out of rear passenger fender well.

I am experiencing the well known symptoms of a failing mechatronic unit in the volkswagen dsg gearbox. There was a recall from previous complaints regarding this issue. Symptoms are lurching/harsh engagement when starting from a stop. Jerky/ almost bouncy reversing. Harsh/clunky shifts between gears. Loss of drive operation at freeway speeds. This can be dangerous in many situations.my recall was completed through volkswagen at roughly 55,000 miles. I started to notice the symptoms arise again at approximately 103,000 miles.this is literally just after the vw "extended" warranty on the dsg gearbox and replaced mechatronics unit expired. (10 year/100,000 miles)i find it very odd that the first mechatronics unit lasted just 50,000 miles and it seems as if the 2nd has failed in nearly the exact same time frame. I have contacted vwoa and they refused any kind of goodwill or additional assistance regarding this issue.

It is a common driving issue with my my2008 volkswagen r32 equipped with a dsg transmission.there are times when accelerating at low speeds the car will lurch and then it appears the dsg disengages and the car coasts as if it is in neutral and this is in either d or s mode.also when driving on the interstate at speed, occasionally when i go to accelerate when changing lanes to pass a slow individual, the dsg appears to disengage while the throttle is depressed and then coast momentarily like it is in neutral in d, s, or m mode and then finally it will reengage. This occurs every time i drive the car including today.

The dsg transmission in my 2008 volkswagen r32 seems to slip or not engage correctly coming for a stop or shifting from reverse to drive. It occurs at least once a week. No work has been done to my cars transmission.

2008 volkswagen r 32 is having issues with dsg transmission operation vehicle is extremely rough shifting into first from neutral and engaging into reverse from a stop. Vehicle also shift extremely rough in sport mode. The car jerks into and out of each gear at any speed. Been to vw 3 times and complained! they said that's normal. I look it up and went back and told the service rep. Why didn't he know our told me about the recall. He said that he didn't know! he has been a service rep for over 10 years?? finally the said that the going to fix the problem! not a new transmission. But its recommended...

Vehicle false nuetraled on a busy interstate. I was almost rear ended by a 18-wheelersolenoid failure in the transmission. No power on vehicle until fix. This could cause and probably has caused death or injury

The car was purchased with ~2000 miles on it.when coming to a near stop, and then trying to accelerate hard around a corner, on 4 occasions there was a loud backfire, and the car would stall completely.the car had to be stopped and restarted each time.at ~25000 miles, a vw technician and friend performed a "basic settings" on my dsg transmission.since then, i have had no further issues, other than a slight clunk when applying throttle before coming to a full stop.

Sudden loss of power and mobility for a few seconds when taking off from a stand still .... This has happened a few times a week in the month i've had the car . It seems especially dangerous when making a left turn in front of on coming traffic ..!!also when backing/reverse slowly into my garage , the car is very jerky ...?

The car has very rough slow speed lurching and jerking when moving in reverse and also in slow forward.its worse on cold start moving.

Shifts very hard at slow speeds. Going into reverse sometimes hestates for a couple seconds. Sarting from a stop will not go for a second or 2.

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32. While driving at approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle did not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the mechatronic unit failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Dsg transmission failed @ 57,000 miles

Extreme harsh shifting up from first to second during acceleration. Also experience harsh shifting from second to first and then into reverse. Most common occurrence is during slow speeds in parking lots and coming to and from complete stops. The issues feels to be coming directly from shifting and clutch engagement.

1. Upon deceleration at any speed2. Jerky, harsh, jarring downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear whether in dsg manual or dsg auto mode.it occurs every time i drive the car.3. Nothing done to correct the failure.i was told that is the normal dsg behavior.

Dsg transmission lags in applying the clutch and will sometimes apply the clutch extremely harsh after a second of lagging. If the car is on a hill it will fall back a few feet before the transmission engages in an extremely harsh manner. If i'm at a stop and accelerate is will not do so for approximately 1 second and then jerk forward abruptly.

On four separate occasions, vehicle spontaneously shifted into neutral. This occurred on both highway and city streets, both while in motion and while braking (downshifting). The lever selector position flashed on the dashboard and the "depress brake" indicator light came on. Vehicle required shifting to park and turning engine on/off (sometimes several times) before becoming drive-able again. Repair facility reports transmission temperature fault, as described in the following recall for other volkswagen/audi vehicles with the same dsg transmission:nhtsa campaign id 09v333000volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 passenger cars manufactured between september 2008 and august 2009. The wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the direct shift gearbox (dsg) may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped. With insufficiently crimped connector wires, a temperature sensor has the potential to falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift to neutral. If this happens, the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel will flash. In addition, the "depress brake pedal" indicator light will be illuminated, alerting the driver to apply the brakes.repair facility recommends remedy of replacing transmission temperature sensor and transmission fluid.safety risk caused by inability to accelerate when car spontaneously shifts into neutral and driver is unable to safely pull over to shoulder/safe area and/or avoid other vehicles.

Random loss of power/torque coming out of dsg transmission when shifting into certain gears, jerky reverse, hesitation starting from stop, jerky downshift to first gear.hesitation has randomly occured multiple times including at an intersection.jerking (or pulsating power delivery) during reverse and when downshifting into first is always there.hesitation when starting from stop is also always present. I believe this probably as something to do with the mechatronics unit of the dsg.i am worried about saftey due to the abnormal behavior of this transmission.lossing power at an intersection or other critical locations can easily lead to an accident. Also i am afraid that this abnormal behavior is going to lead to transmission problems including but not limited to abnormal clutch pack wear which might need to be replaced later down the line after the 60,000 mile warranty is up.

Lurching motion of car as transmission engages and disengages.this happens mainly when pulling off from a complete stop.loss of power/forward momentum.this happens when down shifting manually and pressing gas to gain speed quickly to merge into traffic (highway/interstate traffic).this also happens when allowing the dsg transmission to shift automatically when pressing the gas (harder that normal acceleration to merge with highway/interstate traffic).

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32.when attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the transmission hesitates and then shifts into gear.also the transmission hesitates to shift from fifth to sixth gear.the vehicle was taken to the dealer but they could not identify the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 80.the current mileage was 24,000.

Hesitating and jerking from transmission when in reverse or drive when accelerating from a stop.*ln

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32. The driver stated that his transmission malfunctioned while driving at a low speed. The driver stated that his vehicle began to lunge forward while he was driving in reverse. The driver also stated that if he applied pressure to the accelerator pedal to increase his speed, the vehicle shifted into neutral gear on its own. The failure has continued to occur since the vehicle was purchased. The dealer made several attempts to diagnose the failure and stated that there was nothing they could do to assist him. The failure mileage was 200. The current mileage was 20,000.

Several symptoms related to dsg transmission switching gears:from a stop, car lunges and jerks into first gear. Rpm's sometimes dip and surge, and car sometimes feels like it is going to stall. When upshifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, gear sometimes engages with a thunk.when downshifting 3 to 2 or 2 to 1, car often surges and jerks.in reverse, car sometimes loses power for a second or two.

Difficult to accelerate from standing start with the dsg transmission hesitating then grabbing suddenly with mechanical sound. I consider the hesitation a serious problem since the delayed acceleration is difficult to anticipate. Turning from a stop has hesitation and then the car jumps forward sometime changing to a lower gear.this occurs in "d" automatic and manual modes.this is recurring problem since began leasing the r32 in april 2008.

Bought my 2008 volkswagen r32 about 2 years ago and i've been having problems with the dsg transmission ever since new.many times when 1. The moment before i come to a complete stop, or 2. Take off from a complete stop or, 3. Switched from reverse to drive, the car would jerk/buck with a clunking sound coming from underneath the car.the rpm would also spike up w/o the car moving and then come back down before the car will start moving.took it in to the vw dealer and they performed a basic dsg setting re-set, but the problem still occurs.many other vw owners are also experiencing this problem in many online forums if you do a search online.

Dsg malfunction during normal driving on vw r32 2008:my automobile has erratic movement from a standing stop and at low revolutions per minute (less than 1500 / minute) at low speeds. The motion is a jerking action.the vehicle also exhibits loss of power when gears are lowered and followedby a throttle input. This is seen for example when driving in 6th gear at 55 mph, shifting into 5th and then accelerating to pass on the highway. The engine at that time does not respond with power and the car spends maybe 1 or 2 seconds sorting out how to apply the power. The driving conditions are then normal and operation continues without a problem. The general shifting of the car is not smooth under other operations although it does not stall or lose power. Yet the shifting feels unnatural and deteriorated from how it was when the auto was new. The vehicle has now 22000 miles.

My 2008 vw r32 with the dsg transmission surges forward as soon as i take my foot off the brakes in traffic or stop lights. It will surge forward and then rock like someone dumped the clutch even though there is no manual clutch. The car also is very clunky in reverse, and rocks alot. These problems occur about every other day. I have brought my car to the dealership multiple times and all they do is say that they cant find anything wrong and they "reset" the dsg settings. This will fix the problem for a day before it starts again. I have told them that i think it is the mechatronics unit and they just say that they don't think it is and never really explore the problem.

When my vw 2008 r32 is in 2nd gear in the parking lot it is not smooth. It jerks and lurches like i'm pumping the gas. Also during varying times, my car does not accelerate smoothy. It lags and feels like its slipping.

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32. While driving 45 mph the contact noticed that the vehicle would no longer accelerate without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the methapromic unit was replaced inside the transmission; however, after the vehicle was repaired the failure continued to occur. There were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 25000 and the current mileage was 35000.

While driving up a steep hill (about 30mph) and approaching an intersection, the vehicle in front of me made a last minute decision to brake hard and make a right hand turn without signaling.i slowed to a stop behind the vehicle while they turned.once the vehicle completed it's turn, i proceeded to pass through the intersection.i mashed the throttle (the light had just turned yellow) to clear the intersection, but the engine did not respond.finally, after about 2 seconds, the dsg went into gear and i was able to proceed.however, my vehicle remained in the middle of the intersection for about a second before the dsg began to work.additionally, the dsg in the vehicle routinely takes a moment to engage.the above incident was the first time the dsg's failure to work left me vulnerable.

Direct shift gearbox is very choppy.dsg is especially choppy at low speeds and in reverse.i took the car to service department and tech said it was operating as designed, but i don't think it was designed to be so rough.no parts were replaced or ordered.

Intermittent problems with a vw r32 dsg transmission. Most significant was a case where i was attempting to accelerate from a stop. The engine revved, but the car did not move forward. All of a sudden, the car lurched forward very hard as the transmission engaged at ~3000 rpm. I had to immediately hit the brakes to avoid colliding with the slower-moving traffic in front of me. My initial reaction was that i had been involved in a rear-end collision due to the magnitude of the impact. However, it was just the transmission engaging spontaneously.

After coming to a complete stop and letting off the brake pedal, while the car is still in drive, it will lurch or jump forward - almost as though i've pressed the accelerator pedal.this seems to get worse as the outside ambient temps increase.in stop and go traffic the car is a nightmare to drive, as it will lurch and jerk heavily.i've actually had my starbucks coffee shoot out of the cup and spill on me because of this - yes, it lurches that much.i've almost rear-ended a few cars and hit my garage wall. All of this is actually our second go around as we've had the mechatronics unit replaced by vw with 17646 miles on the car.the car now has 21500 miles on it and the symptoms areback again.i'm not sure what to do?the first time our vw dealer had the car for about a month to get it fixed but their fix only seemed to work for a short time as we're starting to have the same problems again.the car is jerky and clunky when shifting at low speed driving.i've had the dealer tell me this is normal dsg behavior but we own (2) 2008 vw r32 - my wife and i each have our own. The other car drives much smoother and does not exhibit the behavior that these car does; however, i'm nervous that our other too will soon start having problems. I'm holding off bringing the car back to the dealer until they come up with a proper fix.vw please remedy this problem. Our family has been a loyal vw/audi customer our entire lives.

Dsg transmission slams when placed into "d" or "s" mode even thought brake is pushed.

Rpm pulses or surges at low rpm, when creeping along in d as in a parking lot or in traffic. Just when you think you are operating safely at near stop, the car surges ahead pulsing the rpm by about 100 rpm. The symptom has been very repeatable through out the 21k+ miles i have on the car. The dealer has looked at it twice and says this is normal dsg transmission behavior. If i put the car in s mode, it will not do it. They need to reprogram the transmission software so it will not happen in d. I believe this is a safety issue that can and should be fixed by vw. I have talked with several other owners of this transmission/car and they experience the same.

When reversing it is choppy/jerky, as if i am pumping the accelerator. The same happens when in traffic at low speeds. Also sometimes the car is slow to accelerate as in the rpms's increase but the car is not going any faster. I am stationed in germany and the dealer has a dsg mechetronics unit on back order for the last 2 months. The dealer is the is the one who determined that there was a problem and informed me of the problem. The car has done this since day 1 so i assumed it was normal.

The dsg transmission in my 2008 vw r32 has been jerky its whole time i have owned it but it seems to be progressively getting worse. When accelerating from a dead stop to get up to driving speeds the dsg will react extremely jerky and hesitate from time to time, causing the engine to rev super high, then it will kick in to gear causing me and my passengers to go through a whiplash type state for a few seconds before the cycles starts over again when going into the next gear. Also when at highway cruising speeds when i try to occasionally pass another car and depress the gas pedal the engine will just rev really high for a few seconds before accelerating. During all of these instances that this has occurred i have been extremely lucky to be able to avoid all other vehicles around me and not get into any serious accidents. If this continues in the future i am unsure if i will be so lucky and i am cautiously awaiting the time when my transmission goes out completely and i am in a serious wreck. From the research i have conducted it would seem that there has been a rash of faulty mechatronics units and dsg's throughout the vw product line. The conversations i have had with other vw owners always leads to the same conclusion that either replacing the mechatronics unit, sometimes repeatedly, or an entire replacement transmission is the only cure. This needs to be fix permanantly by vw before something serious happens and someone winds up either in the hospital or dead.

Dsg transmission drops into then out of then back into 1st gear. Also engine revs and the car jerks in reverse.

When i purchased my 2008 vw r32 it drove and shifted smoothly and without issue. After we put about 1500 miles on the car it started jerking forward roughly as if the clutch was engaged and then slams into gear when starting from a complete stop, this behavior is intermittent and seems to be related to the relative amount of time the car has been driven, the longer it's been the more likely it is to do it. I've had cases where the dsg would also simply jerk forward and back very harshly during a quick stop/start that didn't involve wot acceleration. I've taken this car into vw specifically for this problem and was told that it was default behavior of the dsg and required some finesse to avoid these issues, i just don't think that's true and they should be responsible for fixing this without someone dying because it's difficult to handle or mechanically unreliable.

My vehicle is a 2008 volkswagenmodel r32. All of the following issues happens when the transmission is in "d" (drive) position.at low speeds (below 40 mph) the transmission appears to go in and out and up and down the gears resulting in a "clunky" and un-smooth movement of the vehicle.also this is often evident during slow gentle acceleration and slowing down from low speed (approx 40 mph or less). About 75% of the time the car does not respond to a gentle acceleration, thereis a very noticeable delay until the transmission shifts itself.similar for slowing down, the engine remains at high rpm and suddenly slows, but not consistently i did notice that all of this happens more when the car is warmed up, rarely while the engine is cold..at high speed the car acts normally including during quick acceleration.something is definitely not right, the car should not be doing this in my opinion.car dealer says only that all the dsg-transmission equipped cars do this and i should get used to it. Evidently there is no official fix;

Loss of power when downshifting. This has happened more than a few times. Fortunately, it has never happened in a situation where a crash could have occurred. Nothing has been done. My vw service adviser told me a recall for the dsg transmission is imminent. That was in august. So far, i've heard nothing.

Jerking and loss of power when accelerating from a stop.seems random, but not easily repeatable.

My 2008 golf r32 equipped with a dsg transmission is having rough shifting, rough clutch engagement, choppy reverse and power loss at highway speeds under hard acceleration. Please push vw of america to have a recall campaign done. How long do owners have to wait for this? i guess vw and nhtsa want someone to die before any action is taken. Thank you.

Purchased a 2008 vw r32 in october of 08 equipped with the 6 speed dsg transmission. I was satisfied with the car as a whole however recently i have been experiencing some fairly scary issues with the vehicle that i relate to the transmission. Often times, when manually downshifting from 3rd to 1st when coming to a stop, the engine will completely lose power and there is a approximately 1-2 second delay from hitting the gas to any type of forward motion. This also occurs from 5th to 3rd or 4th to second. It is quite alarming when you downshift to scoot into traffic or off an on ramp and the car responds with no power. More than one occasion i have nearly been rear ended as the car simply began to coast during a lane change into traffic. I have been unable to get any information from vw and after taking it to the dealer and not being able to replicate it, was told that it was a "quirk" of the transmission. I feel this is a potentially deadly problem and as my car is leased, i have no recourse in getting out of the vehicle as i will accrue early termination fees and such. I feel something should be looked into on this transmission so that nobody is hurt driving a dsg equipped vehicle.

2008 r32 on occasion does not shift smoothly when in d mode. In addition, when starting from a standstill it is not uncommon for the car to jerk when the accelerator is applied.

On my 2008 vw r32 with dsg transmission, it creates clunk noise everytime shifting from 1st to 2nd.

There is a delay when pressing accelerator from a stop. Several time the car behind me almost hit me because of the delay.

During near full throttle acceleration, car experiences no increased speed. Car will increase rpms, but seems like it is searching for a gear. It is most scary if you need to accelerate in accident avoidance, and the car doesn't go. Very choppy starts from first to second gear, feel like someone doesn't know how to shift a manual gearbox, yet this is a dsg gearbox.

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen r32.the contact was driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions.there was pressure applied to the accelerator pedal followed by no power response.the engine began to rev excessively high. After afew seconds the transmission shifted into gear and resumed to normal operation.there were no warning lights indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, there was a hard shifting from "reverse" to "drive" and "park" to "reverse" position.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection.the technician was unable to locate the failure.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on five separate occasions for identical failures.the technician replaced the fly wheel.the failures continued and there was no resolutions.the failure mileage was 26,000 and the current mileage was 33,000.the vin was unavailable. My 2008 vw r32 has transmission problems when starting or stopping, it has a clunk and jolt when starting to go (mainly at stoplights). It seems like it doesn't find the gear for a couple seconds and when it does, it jolts you forward.

2 issues with my dsg transmissionfirst; when slowing down from speed the transmission jerks and shifts very rough from second gear to first especially.it is very strange feeling and sometimes dangerous due to abrupt speed changes.second the transmission does not shift up after accelerating:when you accelerate to speed and let off the gas to maintain the target speed; the transmission continues to rev higher for 2-3 seconds before shifting to the proper gear.both of these issues have occurred multiple times already after only 4 days of ownership of this car:2008 volkswagen r32.

Have a 2008 vw golf r32 dsg. Shifting is extremely rough and appears to have a mind of its own. In fact sometimes it does not respond to my shifts and all and "coasts" until engaging. I have been told this problem can be fixed by replacing the mechatronic unit, but vw denies the issue. This is ridiculous.i have searched issues with it on the internet forums and i am for sure not alone. I think this issue should be a recall for both safety and reliability reasons.

My 2008 vw r32 is starting to have dsg transmission problems at 22,000 miles. It clunkswhen going in and out of reverse and drive; it feels as though it will not disengage the forward gear when coming to a stop, then suddenly disengages, jolting the whole car. This happens all the time when driving.the dealer acknowledged the problem and said they will get a part to try to solve it, but not until september (and it is june now). They said to keep driving it this way.

My 2008 vw r32 has an issue with the dsg transmission. It lurches when starting and stopping, makes hard shifts from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st. On occasion it has selected neutral rather than the next gear, causing the car to slow down in traffic and make drivers behind have to slow down to avoid hitting me. When this happens, the only way to force the transmission to select a gear is to move the selector lever into s or n then back into d. I tried getting the issue looked at and fixed by vw but they claim there is nothing wrong. I fear that eventually i'm going to cause an accident because of this issue.

Once the transmission is warm it will literally slam into first or reverse at low speeds. Dealer is replacing the mechatronics unit that failed in the transmission but is on a 8-10 week back order, the dealer has been great but the car is awful when starting out or backing up.

My 2008 volkswagen golf r32 has dsg issues. The transmission is not smooth when going from a stop (brake applied) to go (gas pedal). Sometimes the dsg gearbox goes into neutral as well while having the gas pedal pressed and in motion. I know there is a current voluntary recall for some mkv vw vehicles, but r32 golf's should be looked at as well. Please help!

2008 volkswagen r 32 is having issues with dsg transmission operationvehicle is extremely rough shifting into first from neutral and engaging into reverse from a stop. Vehicle also shift extremely rough in sport mode. The car jerks into and out of each gear at any speed.

When the car was new it was smooth and ride was great shifting was perfect,as time and miles pass the car got really jerky with the transmission, car now rides smooth but the sifting is terrible, and tranny is making alot of noises when backing up and turning the steering wheel i always hear a clunk, loud and you can feel it, every time i take it to my dealer it magically goes away for a week or two weeks or so then its back its really frustrating that no one at the dealer ship really cares they make it seem like i'm doing something wrong please help!!

Took off from a stop pulling into traffic and dsg transmission in 2008 vw r32, revved, went nowhere, then finally shifted into first very abruptly, causing loud bang, thud andalmost causing crash.

I drive 2008 vw r32. When i drive parking lot or at slow speed transmission called dsg jerks and clutch seems like not engaging smooth. I don't know how to describe but it's like a poor shifting manual shift.

2008 volkswagen dsg transmission issues:harsh shifting in low speed maneuvers, rough shifting sometimes, slow engagement to reverse, slow shifting when coming to a stop causing "lurching".

After purchasing my 2008 vw r32 it was a very smooth vehicle.the dsg transmission was advertised as driving exactly like a conventional automatic transmission-equipped vehicle.after a year and 12,000 miles i have experienced several incidents where the transmission feels like it disengages.the engine revs up, but there is absolutely no motive power.this has happened both on the expressway as well as on the street.in all occurrences the vehicle regains motive power within 5-10 seconds.however, due to the nature of the public highways, losing motive power in a vehicle can be very dangerous, and has put my life at risk when this happened.it is my opinion that this issue is investigated, as i have heard from other 2008 vw r32 owners that the same thing has happened to them as well.

My 2008 volkswagen r32 has constant transmission issues where the car bucks at low speeds and has a very choppy reverse. I've taken it for its alleged recall and the car still acts the same with bucking at low speeds.

After the car gets to it's warm temps (roughly 30 mins of driving), it starts to jerk through low gears, harsh downshifting when slowing down to stop. Taking my foot off the brake from a stop the car will lurch/sputter forward rather than slowly roll forward, at times (very inconsistent, roughly 2-3 in an hours drive) the car will surge then slam into gear before i'm able to press on the gas to drive, it feels almost as though it's about to stall.

Type vehicle:volkswagen/r32 2008nhtsa action number:pe09035current mileage: 25,000.the failure:several symptoms: 1) loss of motive power: basically, at times, from a stop, the car just doesn't go. The engine revs, but the transmission doesn't engage. After a few seconds normal function returns.2) extremely harsh shifting while maneuvering at low speeds, usually when accelerating from first to second gear.3) at times, at low speeds, noticeably when approaching a stop, the transmission will not downshift when i try to shift manually, using the controls.4) when backing especially, but also when moving very slowly as when parking, the car has begun to move in a very jerky manner. This is very dangerous in a busy grocery store parking lot.the symptoms began at about 17 or 18000 miles and are gradually getting worse.

2008 r32 mechatronic dsg problems..been to dealer and confirmed problem... Dealer said it is back ordered in germany and it is ok to keep driving itbecomes undrivable let them know "what ever that mean".

Vw 2008 r32 with dsg transmission. Manual downshifts from 5>4, 4>3, and 3>2 cause a dangerous power or throttle lag from the motor. Since downshifts are often done in preparation for a safety maneuver while driving, this lag causes the maneuver to fail leaving the car and driver vulnerable and without power while mid-maneuver. I can replicate the problem. Vw service centers have not seen tcu fault codes, nor have they duplicated the problem although i have instructed them how to do so. Apparently they are not following the proper instructions to replicate it. No service has been performed aside from resetting the tcu with factory settings a number of times.

Yesterday i changed lanes in order to pass. I stomped it, and although the rpms shot up, nothing happened -- no power. I thought i had somehow bumped the gear shift into neutral. It was not in neutral, it was in "s".i took my foot off the accelerator, shifted to "d", and then reapplied the accelerator. All was back to normal.because all of this happened so quickly, and because i may be confused, i'm giving the transmission the benefit of the doubt -- but i'm paying close attention now. It's no fun to need power, expect to get it, and instead just get noise from revved rpms.

When i first bought my 2008 vw r32 it was a decently smooth riding car. After a few months it got really rough. When i start moving from a complete stop the car jerks back and fourth 1 or 2 times roughly. This happens 100% of the time. Also, the car slams into first gear really hard when slowing down to a stop making all passenger's bodies shift forward from momentum. It feels like i slammed on the brake. Also sometimes from a stop when i put my foot on the gas, the car hesitates before slamming into gear after 2 or 3 seconds of not responding to my throttle input. This has scared me in a couple instances because i almost got into a rear end collision from someone behind me not paying attention and almost slamming into the back of my car. Luckily i knew that my car had this characteristic so i reacted quick enough to accelerate in time to get out of their way. From what i understand, this is a problem with the mechatronics unit. And many people have had success fixing the problem by getting a replacement mechatronics unit installed. Almost everyone i have met with the same car has the same problem i do. Something needs to be done to fix this or people are going to be going to the hospital for whiplash from rear end collisions or worse.

On multiple occasions either when up shifting or downshifting, the dsg transmission in my 2008 volkswagen r32 have been very jerky, or come with a "clunky" feel and noise. Also have tried to downshift from 6th gear, down 2, as vw recommends when passing on a highway, and the car will either hesitate for a few seconds before it finally decides to shift, and then i still have no power for a few more seconds until the transmission decides it wants to send power to the wheels again.i have taken the vehicle in question in on numerous occasions for the problems, and all the dealer says, is either they cannot reproduce the effects, or the car has no fault codes, so therefore it must just be me.

The dsg transmission in my 2008 vw r32 sometimes performs very unpredictably.specifically, when downshifting it sometimes disengages for several seconds during which i have no ability to accelerate the vehicle.also, in reverse gear the gear takes a long time to engage, then if backing up-hill, seems to "slip".i would hate for this to happen in a situation in which i am trying to back out of the way of danger.i am also concerned because these transmissions are very expensive to repair or replace if problems worsen after warranty period has expired.

Dsg transmission shifts into gear very hard. Going from r to d seems transmission slips going into gear. In drive, acceleration is delayed. When accelerating, car jerks 3 times and then back to normal. There is a loss of power when accelerating.

My car begin making a low whistle noise a week ago whenever i accelerated from stand still and a week later it beginskipping gears and then the car became inoperable.

Ongoing / recurring issue with the dsg and sloppy gear changes, inability for the car to find the right gear (slow to change gears), and noticeable clunking noise when putting the car into reverse. On occasion when moving away from a standstill at a light, the transmission will dis-engage and re-engage quickly accompanied with a noticeable clunking noise, then lurch forward briefly.most recent date that i have experienced this issue was entered for the approximate incident date.

I bought a brand new vw r32 from elindsay vw dealer at dulles va. After buying the car i had to take it back for some minor problems and they were partially resolved to my satisfaction. Around 8000 miles (couple of weeks ago) car started to feel jerky.today the car stalled on me two times at the light. I called the dealer back reporting the issue and the customer service.i can not trust if this happens and my brakes or engine does not function. I feel that this car is putting my and my loved ones' life in danger, as well as the people on the road.please guide me how to handle this issue. I would like them to get the car back.vw customer care reference #809100936- took the car for service february 9th and received it back feb 9th with a software update- feb 10th drove the car in the morning and problem was still there- feb 10th called the dealer to make an appointment. Their top tech was going to be at training so they made the appointment for feb 16th.- february 16th i took the car second time for the same problem. Tech was not available to test drive the car so they sent me away. After an hour or so they called me stating that they could not find any problems with the car. I went down back to dealer to test drive the car. Their top tech was not available so i test drove with another technician. I was able to replicate the issue several times. Head tech came afterwards and tried to assure me that everything is normal. I left the car in dealer for next morning test drive.- february 17th nobody contacted me from dealer so i called them around 1pm . They said there is nothing wrong with the car. I left the dealer with no resolution.- february 20 car started to stall when moving the foot from the break pedal. I tried to call the dealer several times to make an appointment.regards,

Recently my 2008 vw r32 equipped with the dsg transmission has been suffering a jerkiness and harshness in the transmission shifts. This is especially true while shifting from drive to reverse and vice versa. Sometimes the car takes time to react and then does it in an unprecedented and abrupt way. Also when the car comes to a complete stop, sometimes when i get on the accelerator y takes time for the car to start accelerating. Both of these scenarios happen quite often, and pose a safety concern, since it can cause me to back up into an object or even get stranded in the middle of cross-traffic.

When attempting to accelerate to execute a lane change, the car became non- responsive by hesitating (apx 2 sec) after shifting from "d" to "s" (sport mode).also, the car hesitates and "jerks" often when shifting from p to r or n to d.

The dsg transmission shifts hard and has a jerky feeling at slow speeds and when coming to a stop. Jerks while pulling away. Sometimes slams in reverse.

In my 2008 vw r32, with the dsg transmission during low speed acceleration the car buckles kind of like if driving a manual and you don't push in the clutch and then depress it quickly, basically it has had rough shifting, and rough clutch engagement.

Vw 2008 r32 with dsg transmission.manual downshifts from 5>4, 4>3, and 3>2 cause a dangerous power or throttle lag from the motor.since downshifts are often done in preparation for a safety maneuver while driving, this lag causes the maneuver to fail leaving the car and driver vulnerable and without power while mid-maneuver.i can replicate the problem.vw service centers have not seen tcu fault codes, nor have they duplicated the problem although i have instructed them how to do so.apparently they are not following the proper instructions to replicate it.no service has been performed aside from resetting the tcu with factory settings a number of times.

My vehicle is a 2008 vw r32 equipped with a complex transmission system called "dsg". The events that are leading up to a failure are; vehicle jerking while taking from a stop, engine speed dropping and car lurching forward all in a sudden while trying to accelerate in a traffic or a light or any other stop situation. The other day at the lights i almost hit the vehicle infront of me because of this issue. It is not possible to accelerate smoothly because of this problem. Car was taken to vw service and told that it is normal behavior for this kind of transmission which is an unacceptable solution for this serious issue.

While driving cross country, at approx 75 mph car began to sputter, hesitate felt like someone turned the thing off, briefly lost power, car regained power, event occurred three or four more times during my trip. During one of these sputtering sequences, i attempted to fill up, thinking i may have picked up some bad gasoline, car would not accept any fuel, even though gauge read just under 3/4 of a tank. Continued driving until veh was under 1/4 tank, pulled off, and filled up with no problems fueling.

Suspect clock spring failed.airbag indicator light is illuminated.lost all functions to steering wheel mounted controls.vw would not pay for the repair.
