Takata recall - waiting several years for permanent authorized repair!
Takata recall. Takata still have not provided a fix for my car it has been over a year.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. When the steering wheel was turned, the horn inadvertently sounded. The vehicle had to be turned off and restarted to disengage the horn. The contact stated that the failure began after the vehicle was serviced on january 25, 2016 for nhtsa campaign number: 15v483000 (air bags). The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer (audi boise, 8400 west franklin road boise, idaho 83709, (208) 377-5400) for diagnostic testing or repairs; however, the contact removed the horn relay. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. Pods - when i went to get the wheel clock spring recall repair, i still had a airbag error lit - mechanic said it was a faulty passenger occupant device system switch.i only have 32k miles on my car and i very rarely have anyone ride in the passenger seat, so not sure why it failed - was quoted a price of 3k for the part. Jetta and golf models have a recall for this, but not the passat - if it is a safety issue for those models, it should be one for the passat as well.
Takata recall: i received my first notice from volkswagen in february of 2016.i visited my local dealer on march 20, 2017, more than one year later, and they do not have parts and cannot provide guidance as to when they will.given the seriousness of the airbag recall, i find this unacceptable as a consumer.is there any way to raise the priority of making the necessary parts available?
My vehicle was a part of the clockspring recall for vw in 2015. The airbag light is now on and all steering wheel electrical controls are no longer working. Mechanic says it is a failure of the clockspring in the steering wheel.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat.the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. Volkswagen dealer refuses to fix recalls
The contact's daughter owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that her daughter had her fuel pump replaced on five separate occasions. After the most recent failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to schumacher volkswagen of west palm beach (3001 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409) where three recall repairs were performed on the vehicle; nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v483000 (air bags), 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline), and 18v148000 (air bags). Despite the recall repairs, the contact was informed that the fuel pump was defective and given an estimate for the repair. The contact's daughter then towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the mechanic informed her that an unknown part near the steering column fractured and that the air bag warning light was illuminated. Due to the discovery, the contact had the vehicle towed backed to the dealer and was given an estimate for the repair of the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Takata recall manufacturer recall number69m9, nhtsa recall number16v078, issued for my vehicle feb 09, 2016. Still no remedy? what do i do if i am in an accident? hope the airbag doesn't kill me? this is almost a one-year old recall with no resolution. What is volkswagen using for new passats? could i not have one of those installed?
Takata recall. Has been over a year since recall and no action taken by company to rectify problem. Vehicle is in texas, is over 6 years old, and is primary vehicle for a 55 year old working woman. Texas is a high risk state.
Vehicle was recalled for air bag/clock spring reason twice in just over a year.now, shortly after both of these repairs, we had a noise in the steering wheel, as well as an air bag failure indicator illuminate.we cannot help but feel this is related to the work that has been performed on these recent recalls and feel vw should be responsible for the cost of these repairs.this happened while driving on a city street while making a turn.attached is a copy of the service record.

This is ridiculous, we received a letter in february for the takada airbag recall and there is still no remedy to fix it?!! this is the most laziest thing i have ever seen! why has nothing been able to be fixed on it! we drive this car every day and what will happen if we get into an accident and we lose our eye, our paralyzed, or die! you will never see a paycheck again!

Takata recall-excessive delay processing recall
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated while driving, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (santa ana auto center, 1223 w 17th st, santa ana, ca 92706, 714-835-7830) where it was diagnosed that the air bag warning indicator pump failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
My airbag and horn do not work due to a failure of the airbag clock spring. This part was recalled on certain vehicles previously. This is a safety hazard as i cannot use my horn and of course the airbag is needed. This almost caused an accident because i cannot use the horn to alert other drivers. I had someone come into my lane which almost caused a pretty big accident
Complaint #11046964 was filed 11/17/2017 and more problems have surfaced since then. The horn stopped working, all the electrical connections on the steering wheel do not work - the problem has been traced to the wrong air bags replaced by recall by the dealer . The replacement air bag is the wrong air bag and it has the other connections not working.
Takata recall- received notice of recall april 1, 2016. Replacement parts still not available almost a year later. Delay is unacceptable when it comes to safety.
I had a wreck on oct. 28 2013 on 1-26 in usa south carolina. A deer ran into my car(2010 passat) passenger side and right front of car. No airbags came out. My insurance coming fixed car at vw garage. They told me at that time my airbag part was not on hand they had to order it and they would call me when it came in. Never heard from vw again. I got a recall notice after that, stateing that my car needed to be brought to the dealership it was not safe and then did not have a part to fix it yet. My car had 53,000 miles on it . I had retired from working did not want another car at that time. Car was paid for. I lost all my money paid for car $29,214.00, est taxes in sc 1750.00, plus ins. Fees of 19299.00. Over the 7 yrs i own the car.they gave me a lease car to drive 426.00 a month. I have all recall sheets i took it in everytime i got one. They did not ask for me to bring in my car until 2016 said it was unsafe and they would have to contact insurance co. If i did not comply.
Takata recall, nhtsa 16v078. Why is this safety issue not repaired on our car, if this can cause an injury when you need it the most. If vw cannot fix this issue, why are we not given a loaner car until this recall can be resolved? see complaint # 10933840.
Takata air bag recall- i have been calling every 60 days since initial recall announcement came out in feb 2016 and have been told vw does not have the parts from takata yet and they have no idea when they will.they say it could be a month and it could be 2 years or more, they don't know.i called as recently as today and spoke to tracy in service department of my local brandon vw dealer.i have also been told that vw will not give nor reimburse for a rental and i get told time and time again "this is not a vw issue is a takata issue".i'm concerned for the safety of me and my family.what else can i do besides have my family sue after (god forbid) something happens to me.
Takata recalli have recently bought this vehicle (3 months ago) & am concerned that in the event of a collusion, if the airbags are deployed that i or one of my passengers could be seriously injured or killed. I spoke to a representative from volkswagen today that advised that the issue is typically for concern in cars 6 years & older, of which mine is over 6 years old now.i bought the vehicle believing that the manufacturers would not allow me to drive a car they manufactured that could potentially have such serious consequences in the event of an accident.i fail to understand that a company can have a known issue with such devastating consequences & yet they cannot facilitate the repairs in a reasonable time & worst still not give their customers a date as to when the repair could be done.i understand that i have a case for litigation if i am injured but i would have to live with the consequences of those injuries or death & no amount of money could give me the peace of mind i expected to have when buying a volkswagen vehicle.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. Takata recall . I was notified that my vw driver frontal airbag needs to be replaced in april. This should be taken care of immediately, and nothing has been done. Takata needs to be held accountable in a timely manner.
Takata, 69m9, , tried calling takata, and email to vw.com, i can't get a contact. Can you provide email for vw, i don't think driving a carthat mayblind, kill, or cause injury is acceptable, this vehicle is required for work every day. I don't know who to contact at vw.
1. Takata airbag inflator (psan inflator) - ongoing unfixed recall item2. Fuel pump control module- ongoing unfixed recall item-both items have had recall notices dating back to 2017 and beforehand where fixes have not been available to dealership/repair locations.
Volkswagen issued a recall notice in early 2016. On october 3,2016; dealer repair invoice states "no recalls exist for this vehicle at this time." why the discrepancy, and why the delay in getting the recall repair made? nalley volkswagen, alpharetta,ga
Takata recall, volkswagen waited for over 1 1/2 years to recall and then the "fix" was to replace with "new/old stock" and said would replace this at a later date with a final fix.waiting almost 2 years to fix (not really) a life endangering defective part with a similar part is not a recall repair.volkswagen continues to import and build new vehicles with air bags but has not placed a high priority on repairing the recall.for the protection of customers who spent as i did nearly $30,000 on a unsafe potentially life threatening product i would expect a manufacturer to take a recall more seriously and if not for the proper government agency to take action.at this time volkswagen offers no tentative date for correction of the air bag defect.volkswagen has not taken my request for the vehicle to be bought back or immediately properly fixed as 99% of all product recalls are handled but so far has not been held responsible for an unacceptable delay in a remedy of the recall.
Vehicle has 32,000 miles and airbag light is on.horn does not work so the vehicle was taken in for the clock spring recall.horn works but airbag light is still on.dealer recommends replacing the "passenger occupant detection system" at an estimated cost of $3,000.00.called vw customer care and opened a case with them, but because of the time (not mileage) they refuse to offer any assistance with this issue.this is a serious safety issue and should not occur having owned the vehicle 5 years and driven it 32,000 miles.
Takata recall.it has been several years since i as notified of the recall.i check periodically with the service department at the dealership and they can tell me nothing.when i inquire at vwusa or vw customer service i do not receive a reply.
Driving on 267 east virginia in morning parking brake indicator light came then car immediately was unable to accelerate and shut down causing near life ending accident, navigated to side of toll road based on forward motion in car at which time car completely shut off and was unable to start.vehicle was towed to local dealership.at time of pick up ass service manager at vw indicated they are aware this is occurring but have not issued a full recall.while on the side of the road after almost being in a tragic accident car was almost clipped as it looked like i was a lane.requested vehicle buyback vw refused.vw was are of the potential problem but has not informed customers prior to purchase or ongoing.letters for 2009 customers issued.turning over to legal, explore class action
I have been having electrical issues with this carafter owning it for 4 years. It started with the tail light bulb always burning out. I have had issues with the windows before and had it replaced.last year i paidalmost $2200 for window which won't roll down and the door which won't lock, water pump, oil leakand other minor issues. The keypad will lock 3 doors only and the lights won't come onwhen locked but when unlocked it'll come on. I have purchased 3 batteries thus far because the car constantly drains the battery. I've had this car stop in the middle of driving on major streets and almost got rear ended. My passenger right rear door does not lock and window does not work at all.i feel unsafe in this car because i am afraid that some electrical issue might cause my car to catch on fire. The tail light will work if i tap the outside cover to the light. I have gotten pulled over several times because of this and once i show the cop that if i tap it it'll come on, then they understand. At this present moment i can not open the driver side door from the outside and that will cost over $1000 to repair. I purchased my car in august 2009 and i have 62,043 miles on the vehicle. I do not mistreat the car but it's really not worth it and vw does not want to acknowledge that this is a poorly built vehicle. It feels as if this is was a trial an error model car. I am confident that if this car wasn't as old as it is now it would qualify for the lemon law. I am sure that i am not the only vw cc owner experiencing these headaches but if i am at leasti am making it known of some of the issues i have encountered while being a first time and last time vw owner.
So we just payed off our car and the problems started, first the car wouldn'tgo in reverse it acted as it was in neutral then it started doing in when driving so we took it in and they said we need a new transmission after that the a/c stopped working and we started getting a loud ticking noise so we took it in again to the dealership this time they tell us the timing chain needs to be replaced , a seal for the transmission is leaking also, we have done alot of research online and have seen this has been happening to alot of people if the timing chain breaks it can seize the whole motor! i paid roughly 22k for the car it has less then 70k miles and they want around 9k for the repairs there has to something done about this they should not get away with ripping people off
Fuel manifold under the back seat of the vehicle was cracked due to the wiring harness placement and pressure from occupants in the back seat caused the manifold to crack and spew fuel all over the electrical harness.poor placement of the electrical harness for the fuel pump or poor engineering caused this manifold to crack.very dangerous having fuel leaking out at a high volume onto the electrical connection to the fuel pump. Fire and or explosion danger!!!!
Vehicle lost power and shut off while driving on the street at approximately 20 mph. I had driven about 1 block on this street after having turned onto it from another street. When the car died, "steering wheel locked" displayed on dash panel. Car would not start, steering wheel wouldn't move beyond about 1" to the right. Message would display "steering wheel still locked" or "move steering wheel." after 40 minutes of this rotation of messages and trying to start the vehicle, moved the steering wheel up and down. Car finally started but only for 3 seconds. Battery light would come on. Was able to start the car several times doing this and moving it 30 feet to safely park on the side of the road. Temperature outside was about 30 degrees f.for about 1 month prior to this, i would periodically hear a ticking sound after removing the key from the ignition. After the ticking stopped, a message would display on the dash panel "steering column locked. Visit workshop!" it was extremely cold when this happened, but it didn't happen every time i turned off the car, and the car started fine each time after. Outside temp was in the teens (f) when this typically happened.
I was driving home on the highway when my center console radio head-unit stopped working. The speakers stopped playing music, the display on the head-unit blacked out, the back-lighting for the unit went out, and my blue tooth capabilities cut out as well. My radio has not worked for the past two years, and i am unable to use hands-free blue tooth with my phone. I now have to use my phone by hand if i want to be able to communicate while driving. I've been noticing increased drain on my battery (even when the car is turned off) which was confirmed to be coming from my dead radio according to diagnostics run at an auto shop. I have had to jump and replace my battery twice until i was able to get the issue diagnosed. I am concerned that my battery will drain again from the defective radio unit. When i took my car to the vw dealership, the only option they offered to me was to pay $125 to diagnose the problem and then another $800 to pay for a replacement unit of the same brand. I refuse to pay $800 for a replacement part that i and many others believe is a defective part.
After replacing my car battery on 2010 vw cc, the red steering wheel icon appeared on the dash followed by 3 chimes to make known of problem. The steering wheel lost all power steering. Prior to occurance there was never any whining noise, abnormal shaking that could point to a problem with the steering rack. After researching i found others with the same issue and no easy fix but to tow to the shop and get a ridiculous quote on parts and labor for the replacement of the steering rack.
There is a gas leak by rear tire. The mechanics that changed my tires said it was water. Went for an oil change, and they refused to do it because it's a gas leak. They can't tell where it's coming from.
While driving on the highway, we switched lanes and pressed the accelerator to the floor while attempting to pass another vehicle.there was no response from the throttle.after 15 seconds or more the car finally responded.upon reaching our destination, the transmission was put into park, whereupon the engine rpm's began to climb past 4000.the accelerator was not pushed down.the concern is that the electronic throttle is not responding to the driver's input and could lead to an unintended acceleration.the incident has been reported to the dealer and we are awaiting a response.
Brought the car for airbag sign-on on 07-14-2018. Peabody ma vw dealer said that clock spring need to be replaced for $731. Horn, button on the handle not functioning. It looks like vw trying dodge the real issue on recall.
My vehicle was a part of the clockspring recall for vw in 2015. The airbag light is now on and all steering wheel electrical controls are no longer working. Mechanic says it is a failure of the clockspring in the steering wheel.
During the normal operation of the vehicle, without notice the steering wheel light comes on and disables the ability to steer the vehicle normally. I've incounter this problem at all speeds and also during idleling at a red traffic light. Please help as this may cause me to have a serious accident. Thank you
I got all types of misfires and fuel pump and electrical problems the car almost has me in car wrecks every time i drive it the speed thermometer jumps up and down causing me to have no push in the gas i have to turn the car on and off on the highway
Ignition coil going bad.dealer told me vw was on its 4th revision of these.
Air bag did not deploy in highway accident
The timing chain was part of a class-action lawsuit in 2018 by vw owners. My 2010 passat was part of that, but we didn't have any problems with it.now, the timing chain failed at 115k miles on the car. It would not start. It tried to, but would never catch. I now need a brand new engine. I had two mechanics look at it. I also called vw both local and national to see if my timing chain had been replaced. They said they don't keep track of that information. I bought the car used in 2017. Carfax doesn't show service records for a timing chain replacement, so i assume this is the original.
The car wouldn't start and found out the timing chain jumped
Drove car without problems. Came back an hour later and it started, but engine was shaking. Moved it across parking lot and shut engine off. Next time i tried to turn it on, would not start. Took it to mechanic, said that timing chain broke and ruined the rest of the engine. Did research and found this to be a common issue with vw engines. Faulty timing chains are used which cause catastrophic engine failure leaving driver at risk if this happens when driving. Even when not driving, the possibility of such a common occurrence from one of their products failing and ruining the rest of the car is unfair to consumers and volkswagen should be held accountable beyond warranty liabilities for any of their vehicles that this happens to. They should not be allowed to build faulty engines and leave consumers to foot the bill for their shoddy designs and workmanship.
While driving the vehicle looses power, i can stop shut it down and it runs fine for a period. The problem is unpredictable, i am afraid to drive the vehicle on on interstate highways, because a serious accident would occur.
On may 25, 2017 my wife and i purchased a 2010 volkswagen passat for our son who is making monthly payments.approximately one month after the purchase he was on the on ramp getting ready to pull onto highway 65 in springfield, missouri.the car seemed to lose energy and wasn't acting correctly.fearing that it would die when he pulled onto the highway, he pulled to the side of the road to see what was wrong. After looking at the engine he decided to get off the highway as soon as he could. Approximately one week later my son was driving through town.he had traveled less than three miles when he pulled into the parking lot of one of the local high schools.not having any noticeable issues that evening, he was very surprised to find that when he tried to start his car it wouldn't turn over.it sounded like it wanted to, but was making a strange noise that it hadn't before.we decided to leave it parked and have it towed the next day.after looking at it the mechanic informed us that the timing chain had slipped due to a faulty tensioner, causing catastrophic engine damage. Because of this the engine will have to be completely replaced.we are so very thankful that our son wasn't hurt, or even worse.i have since become aware of the class action lawsuit that has been put into place due to the million plus volkswagen vehicles that have the same tensioner. Volkswagen knew it was afaulty part yet continued to manufacture these vehicles regardless of the safety issues that can, and in fact have, become issues with many people.i'veread many stories of unsuspecting drivers who while driving down the highway at full speed had their vehicles stop in full traffic nearly causing severe accidents,we feel that due to the negligent design and manufacture of these vehicles, a recall should take place. Keeping consumers safe from their faulty practices. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the engine was failing, which required the engine to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 73,000.
Car cuts off while driving and oil pressure light comes on. Dealer says the timing belt skipped and damaged the engine and that its a common problem with vw cars. The cost to fix is $4k which is ridiculous for a "known issue". When googling this issue there are several passat owners experiencing the same thing and there are even class action suits because of this.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat cc. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle began to jerk violently and the engine stalled without any warning. Upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the problem. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. The vin was unavailable.
While driving my 2010 vw passet with 52870 miles on it at about 35 mph, it started misfiring, smoking(white smoke) and it stalled. Ihad enough momentum to coast to the side of the road, luckily avoiding an accident. It would't start so i called my ins. Co.'s emergency tow service and had it towed to the vw dealership.this was friday evening. I was without my car until wednesday afternoon.on saturday i searched technical bulletins, articles and vw forums to find out what had happened.apparently my car's 2.0t engine has a propensity to consume oil and to have a lot of carbon buildup which causes failure of the coil packs, fuel injectors and spark plugs which result in the vehicle suddenly faltering and stalling out.on tuesday i was told by a vw technician that my fuel injector had failed. That evening i was told a second fuel injector failed.wednesday i was told the car was ready to be picked up.the technician told me that vw was aware of a problem (i'm not quite sure how he worded it - but he mentioned carbon buildup as the cause) and the fuel injectors were under an extended warranty so no charge for the injectors but i would be charged $465.00 in related costs plus i would need another oil change in 500 miles to flush the engine (another $80.00).i asked about the likelihood of the other two injectors failing and perhaps causing me to crash my car.he said that if i had more carbon buildu, it could happen again.my car recently had its 50k maintance. If vw was aware of the carbon buildup dangers, they should have done a carbon clean-out at that time or at least offered/advised me to have it done.it only costs $169.79 and i would have had a safer vehicle.i thought i had reliable transportation. I was not aware of the carbon danger but vw was and they should tell owners about the vw 2.0t engine's potential problem before someone is killed!
Timing chain broke resulting in catastrophic engine failure. This vehicle has had numerous recalls and is the subject of multiple class action lawsuits. If you have the option to purchase a vw cc do not do it. These vehicles are complete garbage and should be recalled completely by the manufacturer.
Driving home from work on a busy road when all the sudden my car starts to shake and then the epc light came on engine started flashing. I've read a bunch of threads with volkswagen having this issue. [xxx] vehicles. You were funded by [xxx] hitler no wonder. Y'all have to take some responsibility once in a while for all the shady [xxx] y'all are trying to pull.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Car's transmission disengaged while wife was driving it.car has dsg transmission that is same as the recall transmission from 2009 and 2010.since then car's transmission has disengaged and then reengaged after restarting it a total of approximately 10 times some at low speeds and some at hi.car always had lurch when driving.a google search shows over 6000 complaints at least regarding 2010 dsg transmission for vw passat.
I have owned this car for beraly one month. 2 days after purchasing the 02 sensors went bad. 1 week later my pcv valve went bad. And 2 days after that my car stalled on me while driving down a canyon and would not start again. I lost control and ended up on the side of the road. I though i was going to kill myself. After sitting there for about an hour the car turned on but was extremely shaky and would stall the minute i slowed down or came to a stop. I managed to get the car to a repair shop only to have the engine die on me. The car cannot be turned on or moved. I was told it might be the timing chain which is a common issue in this engine. I'm being told i need to practically replace the engine which will cost more than what the car is worth. If i try to turn the car on. It hesitates a lot and once it turns over it immediately shuts off. I have beraly made 1 payment on this vehicle and it already died on me. Was excited about such a nice looking car only to have fall under the lemon car category in my opinion. I am now left with a car payment. A huge repair bill and no mode of transportation all due to volkswagens faulty design.
Takata recall the car will not start no warnings no codes just stop working
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. While the vehicle was parked, oil was noticed on the ground under the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a loose seal on the motor that caused the leak. The contact stated that the seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline). The parts were not available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. Neither the local volkswagen dealer nor the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
Informed that timing chain broke spreading metal bits throughout turbo engine and engine needs to be replaced. Vw will cover timing chain installation but remainder of repair will be our responsibility. The car had 72,000 miles and under the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty. We believe that dealership should have informed us about the timing chain drive failure and advised us to replace before it disintegrated! the vehicle had been back and forth to the dealership three previous times because of the jerking of the issue so that should have been a clue to the service department. After a 10-day holiday where the car stayed in the driveway, when we started it a terrible noise occurred and we could not start it so it was towed to dealership. Fortunately, when the incident happened, we were not driving on a crowded, busy city street or the freeway. We have been loyal vw owners for 50+ years and used our local dealership for 21+ years. We just purchased a new car and it's not a vw. I will get in touch with our lawyer if the dealership will not cover all repairs and labor.
While driving home (approx 50 mile trip) i heard a loud screeching noise from the engine area. I was traveling on a highway at about 60mpg. I pulled over, turned off the car and saw smoke and smelled burning from under the hood. I opened the hood and smoke billowed out of the back of the engine bay. I looked under the car to see if it was leaking anything and found a large amount of what seemed to be oil dripping from the car. I then noticed a trail of oil from before i stopped the car. I left the car in place for a tow to not damage the vehicle anymore than it already was. It was towed to the vw dealership in town where they diagnosed the problem is that the pcv valve stopped working correctly, which caused the rear main seal to fail and become completely destroyed. They said that the entire engine needs to be taken out to replace the seal and is going to cost $1700. Vehicle did not have any indication of problems before the screeching noise and did not have any check engine light come on during the problem. Vehicle has just over 100,000 miles and vw of america denied to help out in anyway when contacting customer service. Another incident with exact same issue was found when i looked at open claims on nhtsa and many other claims are easily found with a simple google search. I have had all maintenance performed on time and at vw dealerships and was never advised to get the pcv replaced as normal maintenance.
Faulty timing chain tensioner caused catastrophic engine failure. Resulting in ~$4000.00 repair cost. I have read about alot of other volkswagens having this same issue. Vw has redesigned this part several times, i did not recive a tsb stating there was an issue with an internal component of my engine even though vw knows this issue will result in engine failure.
I have a 2010 volkswagen passat with almost 70,000 miles. I purchased the brand new car in august 2010. In september 2014 and november 2014 (thanksgiving day), an ignition coil failed while i was driving. In september, i was pulling out of a parking lot onto a business road when the ignition coil failed. In november, i was on the on-ramp for the interstate when the ignition coil failed. This was especially scary as the ramp was uphill and the car barely had enough power to make it up the ramp. Both times, the car began to shake, and seemed to lose power as it was unable to go into third gear, and had trouble making it up the smallest hill. The second time an ignition coil failed, the car also had a lot of smoke coming out the tailpipe. Both times i had to drive home and then to the dealership at 25 miles an hour in a shaky vehicle in order to have the ignition coil replaced.
108k miles. Got off of work and i went to start the vehicle. I started the vehicle the battery light started to flash and the check engine light came on and started flashing i just did a quick loop and put it right back into the parking spot that i was in. I took it into a shop they found that the starter was getting way too hot. They took the starter out and put in a new one and when they went to start the vehicle the engine seized
Pcv valve went out; and in turn, the rear main seal ruptured a major oil leak between engine and transmission. Dealership concluded the pcv position crank valve cause back pressure into the crank resulting in damaging the rear main seal. Vw has issued an extended warranty on pcv on certain models causing this issue, but the tsi2009 and up have not been included in this recall. This issue could result in a catastrophic engine failure due to all oil leaking out of car while on road. This occurs when pressure builds up to pcv fails when car is being operated.
My volkswagen passat has fallen to an issue many others have fallen. It appears the timing-chain tensioner failed causing the timing-chain to jump. When this happens the valves can bend and also ruin the cylinders. The error code is p0016. Vw west broad is recommending a repair of $5,100 dollars. After discussing with vw of america they will not cover as it is outside of their extended warranty 100,000 miles or december of 2019. My car is approximately 111k miles and 6 months past the date. I was not made aware of this issue so i could not be proactive in fixing the tensioner. They even redesigned the timing-chain tensioner because the old one is faulty. I am lucky i was able to make it home from my day trip this past weekend and that the issue did not take place while driving. I was in a parking lot on top of a mountain. It took 4 or so seconds to start which was abnormal, but proceeded to run. The check engine light came on, but i was able to proceed home. Several days later i tried starting the car to bring to the shop, but it no longer starts and i had to get it towed. At this point, i am prepared to send it to the junk yard because the cost of the repair is beyond the value of the vehicle. More information about this issue can be found at this litigation website where they settled. Https://www.timingchainlitigation.com/
Service engine notification came on in late december.i called the dealership for an appointment.the person who answered told me my vehicle didn't need a 100k check up but it was due for an oil change and i could just walk in without an appointment.i walked in a few days later and they told me i needed an appointment for the oil change. I just had it at the dealership for an inspection and recall in october; the guy waiting on me wondered why they didn't do the oil change and 100k check up then.i couldn't get an appointment until after the holidays. I dropped it off january 2.january 3 at 3:30 pm i got a text stating they needed to keep it until the next day to figure everything out.i picked it up on the 4th. After driving straight home and locally, not more than 10 miles, the engine light started flickering and i parked it at home.it was a saturday.i tried to get in touch with someone but no one responded until monday.they told me to bring it back in.i called aaa; they sent a tow truck; he tried to start it to get it out of the driveway but it wouldn't turn over; i had it towed. They told me it was the timing chain and it would be over $5,000 to fix it.
I drove to school in the morning and parked my car stationary for 2 hours. Once i returned the vehicle it would not start. I towed car to dealership and turns out the timing chain had failed. I only have 100,399 miles on the car.
Hello, my 2010 volkswagen passat engine resulted in a catastrophic failure because the timing chain tensioner failed. The engine is the 2.0t made in 2010. After a quick search on the internet it seens like many owners of the 2.0t from those years have experienced the same problem. The only solution is to replace the engine as all the valves are bent and the bill is over $8000, which totals my car. My car only has 88000 miles and bas been fully service with premium fluids on all the right intervals. The problem happened when the car parked for a whole night and when i went to turn it on it was cranking with a very rough sound and it wouldnt even turn on; it wouldnt even crank anymore after that. Please look into this problem as thousands of cars with the 2.0t have reported the same issue. Volkswagen is aware of this issue but yet they don't want to issue a recall.
Took vehicle in for airbag recall. Upon routine vehicle inspection was told that the timing chain tensioner needed to be replaced. Cost estimate of $2740. Vehicle only has 54,000 miles. Even with a tsb on the issue covering practicaly everyvehicle produced from 2008-2012 they are not taking reponsibility to repair the issue. Was never told of the issue until the car was out of warranty. This issue needs to be addressed.
So we just payed off our car and the problems started, first the car wouldn'tgo in reverse it acted as it was in neutral then it started doing in when driving so we took it in and they said we need a new transmission after that the a/c stopped working and we started getting a loud ticking noise so we took it in again to the dealership this time they tell us the timing chain needs to be replaced , a seal for the transmission is leaking also, we have done alot of research online and have seen this has been happening to alot of people if the timing chain breaks it can seize the whole motor! i paid roughly 22k for the car it has less then 70k miles and they want around 9k for the repairs there has to something done about this they should not get away with ripping people off
Ignition coil going bad.dealer told me vw was on its 4th revision of these.
Car stalled and stopped from full motion to reduced speed.
Car would not start had it towed to dealer and found out my timing chain tensioner failed and caused catastrophic engine damage. Dealer has quotes over $7000 for repairs
The timing chain failed immediately prior to shutting the car down. As i had turned the ignition off, i didn't notice the defect, but when i went to start the car in the morning, there was no compression. I had it towed to a local garage where they informed me that the engine would need replacement, not only due to the failed timing chain, but that damage to the valves had occurred.
Engine misfires at 59k miles due to excessive carbon build up. The car has always been on the premium name brand gasoline, and serviced according to schedule.
Purchased the car at 62k engine timing chain went out at 72k i'm very frustrated they are not communicating with me on anything and nobody is helping.
I got all types of misfires and fuel pump and electrical problems the car almost has me in car wrecks every time i drive it the speed thermometer jumps up and down causing me to have no push in the gas i have to turn the car on and off on the highway
While traveling downhill, the engine increased to 400 rpms while traveling at 15-25 mph.i then returned home.the engine light never came on; however, the d (drive) light began flashing, and i realized that the car was in limp mode.it was towed to the dealer, which had serviced the car every 10,000 miles, (and had actually replaced the turbo recirculation valve at 39,637 miles as a result of my concern that there was a burning smell while driving).roseville volkswagen diagnosed the current problem as being the multi-clutch assembly, as well as a faulty intake manifold.the intake manifold is covered by a voluntary extended warranty; however, the multi-clutch assembly is not covered in 2010 sedans.it appears that volkswagen did extend the warranty on 2007-2009 models for the multi-clutch assembly; and it appears from several threads (vwvortex.com, forums.tdiclub.com, myturbodiesel.com, vweosclub.com) that the multi-clutch assembly continues to be a problem in 2010 models.volkswagen of america is taking no responsibility to extend my warranty, which expired at 85,000 miles.i am concerned because the check engine light never appeared, and this could have happened while driving on a freeway, instead of on a street near home.additionally, this problem may have begun approximately 20,000+ miles ago, as i again smelled a burning smell at that time, and was told by the dealer to ignore it, as it was probably a plastic bag that was burning on the engine.however, the smell lasted for several months, and i now realize from reading the threads that this was probably the beginning of the problem with the multi-clutch assembly.
For the third time, an ignition coil failed. This time, i pulled onto a two lane highway from a side street and began to accelerate when the vehicle lost power and began to shake uncontrollably.
Volkswagen dealer refuses to fix recalls
Vw found out that the timing chain is defective in their vw cc 2.0 t engine. This part can go out at anytime. If you are traveling at a high speed you can be fatally injured if this timing chain goes out. It hasn't happened but i was warned. With the solution of a 3800.00 repair.
The daytime running lights (drl) as implemented on the 2010 volkswagen passat wagon are a safety hazard.the only lights that light up are the headlights, not the rear, front, to side "running" lights.a driver can easily start driving at night without any rear or side lights on.the drl headlights on, gives the driver the false impression that their lights are on.when in fact, only the headlights are on.
I wanted to replace the fuel cap for my 2010 vw passat. I ordered part number 3c0201550n which belongs to my vehicle. The fuel cap does not fit. I looked at the cap that is installed on the vehicle and got part number 1j0-201-553 off the fuel cap that is on the car. I contacted a vw dealership parts department and they told me that this part 1j0-201-553 is for a vw golf or a vw jetta and is for a diesel engine car. I do not have a diesel engine i have a gasoline engine. I called vw customer service about this problem because i am worried that this could be a safety issue and they didn't understand what i was telling them. I am worried that the fuel tank and or the pipe that leads to the fuel tank is not properly installed or the incorrect one for the vehicle and volkswagen does not seem to be worried about the safety of me or others that might have the same issue.
Incorrect fuel tank installed from factory.
I just brought my 2010 vw passat to the dealer to investigate why my gas take has trouble filling.they told me that the vent system in the tank failed and that i would need to replace the whole tank to fix it.this car is only 4 years old and the tank should not have failed.i'm not sure if it's also a safety issue if i keep driving it.i also believe that this should be the responsibility of vw.

There is a recall on the fuel pump for volkwagen passat august 30, 2017. My fuel pump is not working properly. I have been trying since august to get it replace. I have called corp several times but they "do not have a fix for it yet" meanwhile i am told by the local volkwagen repair shop my issues with losing power driving is the fuel pump. I can have it fix but i will need to pay for it and i am told it is $2000 and then "try to get reimbursed from volkswagen". Please help!!!!
Fuel pump cracks and leaks fuel. Fuel pump resides under rear passenger seat. Fuel pump control module sits on top of fuel pump. Fuel pump control module gets really hot and may ignite leaking fuel???
There is a gas leak by rear tire. The mechanics that changed my tires said it was water. Went for an oil change, and they refused to do it because it's a gas leak. They can't tell where it's coming from.
I got all types of misfires and fuel pump and electrical problems the car almost has me in car wrecks every time i drive it the speed thermometer jumps up and down causing me to have no push in the gas i have to turn the car on and off on the highway
There is a known issue with the fuel pump control module. Volkswagen has been aware of this since 8.16.2017. On certain vehicles, there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The solution is to replace the fuel pump control module, however, as of today, my vehicle is still not showing as eligible for this repair, despite the fact that this has been a known issue for more than 8 months.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
When driving the car it shudders slightly and then stalls (regardless of speed). Twice at low speed (15mph max) and once at higher speed (45mph). In traffic this could mean a rear end collision. Before this happened there were a few times on the road where the car shuddered as is it was about to stall.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time as the recall notice was received over a year ago. The dealer (east coast volkswagen, 8756-c us highway 17 bypass south, myrtle beach, sc 29588) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was contacted several times and was unable to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
As i drive the car "hesitates". Its almost as if it accelerates and decelerate on its own. As i look online i see there was a recall regarding this issue as its a fuel pump but as i call the dealership they state there is no recall on my specific vehicle.
1. Takata airbag inflator (psan inflator) - ongoing unfixed recall item2. Fuel pump control module- ongoing unfixed recall item-both items have had recall notices dating back to 2017 and beforehand where fixes have not been available to dealership/repair locations.
The car battery is fine, the car shuts off immediately when pushing on brake, leaks brake fluid, cannot keep running, cannot get to vw to get the current 4 recalls taken care of unless i can pay for towing, can't run because of fuel pump and the apparent issues vw is having already on other 2010 models brake system, this is the same year and it is obvious that the passat 2010 are having the same issues with the abs!volkswagen will not to the vehicle even the issue of inability to drive is due to the recall of fuel pump and the not yet recalled 2010 passat brakes (abs) , causing it to shut offf.the electrical goes haywire.sorry for non tech terms but this is what is going on, it immediately says service brakes then shuts off.brake fluid is leaking, as well as coolant.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. Upon acceleration, my passat sputtered like it was coughing, not getting enough gas through the system.very concerning to me, luckily i was in a small town on a road with not much traffic.it then went back to normal operation, within a number of seconds .
My car stalled as i was starting to accelerate through a busy intersection on the way to work and caused an oncoming car to lock up his tires and swerved to avoid hitting me.the car would restart but not run enough to clear intersection for 10-12 attempts.after clearing intersection i was able to park car and leave it for rest of day.when returning to car it started and ran fine on the way home from work.i continued to drive the car for next 2 days with same failures happening only 1 time a day but not at same time or place with no warning or check engine light.on 3rd day a check engine light occurred and upon reading with obd ii computer is was p2293 fuel pressure regulator 2 performance error.i have since taken the vehicle to the vw shop and they are stating i have a bad electric fuel pump issue in the tank and need to replace it along with the control module at a cost of $900.in addition they are saying my rear main engine seal needs to be replace at a cost of $1600 although not related to stalling issue.they fuel pump i have found very similar issues described on internet with similar years and it is a safety issue.it should be a warranty recall not a user responsible issue.i work for a large global automotive supplier to and no that this failure not acceptable for vw and definitely should not be for its consumers.i called vw customer care and they said they will not do anything for the cost of either repair since it is out of warranty.this will likely be the last vw i will every purchase.
While driving the vehicle numerous times at various speeds including idling at stop lights/signs, it would sputter as if to shut down and stall. Sometimes, i could "gas" it so it didn't stall, sometimes it would stall. It happened at busy intersections of a stop light and proved to be dangerous when stalling trying to accelerate when light turned green.it sputtered numerous times in third gear, 50ish mph, as if to stall and was very unerving worried it didn't stall in flowing traffic.it finally stopped running and was towed to volkswagon dealership where i hoped they would repair recall, 20ae. Instead, they diagnosed other issues totaling thousands of dollars that i can't afford. I am hoping to have recall fixed before other diagnoses and see if that was the problem.thank you
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat.

The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph and going uphill, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. An audible sound was heard and the parking brake warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and shifted the vehicle into park. The contact was then unable to shift the vehicle out of park. The vehicle was turned off and restarted several times before the vehicle shifted out of park and into drive. The vehicle was then driven to the residence. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to volkswagen of clarksville (406 e lewis and clark pkwy, clarksville, in 47129) however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.
Driving and went to put car into reverse and the transmission gear indicator started blinking and car would not go into gear.car had to be turned off and restarted to get car to select gear and move again.this has happened on several occasions where not being able to move the car in a timely manner put me and my passengers in imminent danger.i had a transmission service done at 60,000 miles and the transmission was "better", but the problem still cropped up occasionally.now, at 75,000 miles, the problem seems occur more often.after research, it appears there are issues with the dsg unit in this car, but vw has ignored it on passats while extending warranty service on other cars that use this same transmission.the "mechatronic" unit is the problem part. See: vw recall no. 37e3/s7 & audi recall no. 37e5/j7, service bulletin no.: tb-35-11-01 , service bulletin no.: tb-30-14-01, service bulletin no.: csc-37e6/s8. A copy of the extended warranty that seems to cover most cars except mine can be found here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/images/pdf/vw-dsg-recall-warranty-extension.pdf.

The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the vehicle would not switch gears. The "drive mode" and "reverse mode" indicators illuminated without warning when either of the two gear modes were engaged. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not switch from the reverse gear to the drive gear, nor would the vehicle switch from the drive gear to the reverse gear, when prompted. In an attempt to correct the failure, the contact removed the ignition key and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent over a period of one year. The dealer (volkswagen in fort wayne, indiana, (260) 489-7900) was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact would have to pay a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that vehicle was out of warranty and that the recall for the failure was vin-specific. Volkswagen provided the contact with case number: 17-108-93-69. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat . The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle began to jerk and would not accelerate. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was advised that the mechatronic boxfor the transmission had malfunctioned.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.
Problm with a separated rear main seal at 100000miles. After doing some research i found that if vw would properly install the sealat the of production,it would never separate.comparing to my old vw that had 250000miles and never had this problem is seam as a design flaw. Vw has to step up and pay for their own mistake!
Jerking and lurching at idle and low speeds. Matches description of mechatronics failure of the dsg transmission. Similar to the same failure on other models of the same year, with vw extended warranty to 10 year /100,000 miles. Passat not included in this extension despite same failure and vw will not warranty the repair.
Prnds lights flushing and dsg shifting problems.car stopped on red light with dsg in d position. On green light, car moved and accelerated but, rpm raised above 4000 and gear does not shifted to the next stage. Speed control was difficult. Additionally, car had a blinking shifter "d" light. I stopped the car and attempted to change dsg to s, n, p but, shifter lights continue to blink. Only after turning my car completely off and restart, dsg malfunction had been fixed.fortunately, it happened at low speed and did not lead to lost of control.
Car equipped with dsg transmission (automatic manual)prnds light started flashing, car would not go into reverse and was stranded blocking roadway with oncoming cars.tried selecting any gear, putting into park, back into gears and the car would not move.finally went into drive and pulled out of traffic by driving up curb.car would not shift to 2nd.pulled out of traffic, turned of car and restarted.problem disappeared. Happened again 7 days later, restart somehow fixed problem.now fearful that car may be stranded somewhere or fail to engage while driving as others have listed.
So we just payed off our car and the problems started, first the car wouldn'tgo in reverse it acted as it was in neutral then it started doing in when driving so we took it in and they said we need a new transmission after that the a/c stopped working and we started getting a loud ticking noise so we took it in again to the dealership this time they tell us the timing chain needs to be replaced , a seal for the transmission is leaking also, we have done alot of research online and have seen this has been happening to alot of people if the timing chain breaks it can seize the whole motor! i paid roughly 22k for the car it has less then 70k miles and they want around 9k for the repairs there has to something done about this they should not get away with ripping people off
Car shutters and jerks in its accelerating and decelerating to and from first gear.if car is on a slight incline when starting it will roll before it in gauges into drive or reverse.this roll occurs during the time between when the gas pedal is pressed and the car in gauges; many times rolling over a foot before either the car's wheels respond to the engine or we step on the brake to stop the rolling.parking is extremely hard when car jerks as you are pulling into a parking spot and or while you try to adjust cars position in parking space. At first, with much pressure we were able to get the clutch pack replaced; but since then we are told what we are experiencing is normal for this car's automatic transmission.we are doing our best not to rear-end another car but are truly concerned about the safety of this vehicle.
The car was in on mild slope (up-hill). I was holding my foot on the brake pedal while waiting for the traffic light. When i took my foot off from the brake pedal the car started moving backwards. I quickly pressed the accelerator and avoided the collision with the car behind me in the last moment.i was able to replicate the issue several times on the mild slope.
Bought 2010 passat new on 05/25/10.on 05/26 with less than 100 miles, the transmission suddenly would not go past 1st gear after accelerating from stop sign.was close to home so drove around the block trying to get it to upshift.attempted to reverse and when gear shifter was moved transmission would not move from drive.called dealer and they said they would tow in.next day i drove to work and have not had a single problem since.it does leap forward when foot removed from brake, but i don't know there is much that can be done about that.keep foot on brake.we'll see.

Dsg transmission intermittently flashes d gear selector indicator. This means the transmission shifts into neutral and cannot be reengaged into drive. Very dangerous condition on freeway or making left hand turn with on coming traffic. Shutting vehicle off and back on always clears the condition however vehicle must be stopped and in p. Fault occurs randomly sometimes with 2500 miles between occurrences. Has occurred 5 times with 2500 miles between the 4th and 5th occurrence. Transmission has been serviced per vw required intervals.
Dsg transmission - failure to properly downshift from a complete stop. This is a frequent, recurring problem with this transmission. When pulling away from a complete stop, first gear does not and will not engage until the car has been stopped for a few seconds. If i am moving at any speed over 4 mph the car will shift into 2nd gear and stay. I have had to floor the gas pedal to get the car to down shift back to first at very low single digit speeds. This delay results in uncertain acceleration, which can be dangerous when attempting to pull into moving traffic or merge onto a roadway. In many instances, the delay of reengagement of first gear is violent enough spin the front tires, and put the driver back against the seat and the traction control light comes on. The dangerous part is not knowing when this problem will occur. This vehicle has been into the local dealership on multiple occasions to address this complaint and has yet to be resolved. The regional vw field engineer and rep have been made aware of the situation and have failed to make the car right by throwing parts at what they think the problem is, instead of trying to find an actual solution. The car hs been in the dealer for about a month's worth of time during my 5 months of ownership. This problem is so bad, that i have had many near miss accidents because the car could not get out of its own way due to the transmissions refusal to downshift into a lower gear for more power. Once in 4th and above, the car drives just fine and downshifts without issue. The problem lies primarily with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. In another 500 miles the car is to return to the dealer for the clutchpack to be replaced. This is the 4th repair for this issue and another part being thrown at this problem, instead of finding out why this problem exist. I refuse to believe that the car drives like this as per vw design.
Timing chain broke resulting in catastrophic engine failure. This vehicle has had numerous recalls and is the subject of multiple class action lawsuits. If you have the option to purchase a vw cc do not do it. These vehicles are complete garbage and should be recalled completely by the manufacturer.
Car was parked. Shifting transmission from p to d or r or any gear would result in that indicator flashing and engine revving when accelerating.car behaved like it was in neutralthis car has a dsg transmission but the vin number doesn't fall into the ones that vw has acknowledged have issues and have extended repair warranty.turning off the car and restarting cleared the problem..this happened again on another occasion.dsg was properly maintained and documented at 40k miles as per service manual....updated 10-20/15
While accelerating from a toll plaza i felt the car shutter and heard/felt it bang.than the car dropped into second gear and the "d" indicator of the transmission started to flash.i was forced to pull over to the side of the road (through a lot of traffic).once on the side of the road i was able to shut off the car and restart it.the car worked fine after that.this is the third time this has been an issue.it was repaired the first 2 times by the dealer.
Gear indicator, prnds, was flashing after couple hours drive on a city street or after highway, then car cannot reverse and stay in the slow speed, cannot speed up when hit the gas, only the engine runing fast but not speed.
Dsg transmission - failure to properly engage from a complete stop.this is a frequent, recurring problem with this transmission.when pulling away from a complete stop, first gear is not/will not engage until the car has been in motion for a few seconds.this delay results in uncertain acceleration, which can be dangerous when attempting to pull into moving traffic or merge onto a roadway.in many instances, the delayed engagement of first gear is violent enough spin the front tires, slap the drivers head back against the head rest and engage the traction control.the danger is never knowing when this problem will occur, how long the delay will be and how harsh the engagement into first gear will be.this vehicle has been into the local dealerships on mulitple occasions to address this complaint and has yet to be resolved.vw north america has been made aware of the situation since its first occurence, and has failed to make the car right or buy it back.this problem is so prevalent that one vw service manager has indicated to me that he is returning his personal car with the same transmission because he fears for his children's safety while driving with them in it.
Coming from a standstill, my 2010 vw passat with 69,000 miles has a multiple second delay before going into d or r. One day, i put it in r and depressed the accelerator and the car acted like it was in n. This is the second time it has happened
Driving and the transmission falls out of gear. Also had it to where the transmission would not shift from 1st gear. I have to pull over put vehicle in park turn the car off and restart. Sometimes it will run fine others have had to pull over 3 or 4 times before i could get back home.started looking on internet on carproblemzoo.com and there are many complaint of the same problem. Some started with only 20k miles on the vehicle. This his a safety issue especially when your driving 35 mph or faster.
Vw found out that the timing chain is defective in their vw cc 2.0 t engine. This part can go out at anytime. If you are traveling at a high speed you can be fatally injured if this timing chain goes out. It hasn't happened but i was warned. With the solution of a 3800.00 repair.
Test drove new vw passat (2010) not understanding the dsg type of transmission, first drive from a red light had the car jerking a little. Thought this was unusual but accepted the car for the performance.after reading about the dsg and double clutch transmission being a smooth transmission. I knew i had an issue with the trans. (very jerky starts from a dead stop after engine got warm) i thought the "auto hold" switch was stuck in the on position. Vw confirmed no problem with that switch. (the rough starts felt like a beginner on a manual drive transmission on a steep hill.). 1st round of complainants, vw replaced "clutch pack" but symptoms would not go away .after many frustrating days hoping the symptom would go away, ipushed vw to fix or buy back the car.finally had vw consultant (an outside mechanic working the regional area) test and approve the "mechatronic unit " swap out for it was at fault.vw replaced at 3254 miles.waiting see how long this will last as many blogs have stated this is a growing trend.
I purchased 2010 vw passat in june 2010. The car started to jump on acceleration from stop, auto hold button did not work, and car was rolling back on mild slope. I took car to the vw dealership. I was told that it is not safe to drive the car. I had to wait for 2 weeks since the part was coming from germany. They replaced the mechatronic unit and autohold button. The car is not jumping now but i have a feeling the problem is coming back since it does not go smoothly from stop to drive sometimes. Autohold button is working. If the autohold button is not on, a car is still rolling back on a mild slope so you have to move your foot quickly from brake to gas and pray there is no car behind you. 2010 vw passat performs very well after you reach 60 miles and over but below that speed, it takes times to pick up a speed. Sometimes, the gas pedal hits the floor and a car is still not picking up the speed. Driving in a sport mode does not help, since the traffic is on stop and go.
I purchased a 2010 vw passat wagon with dsg in dec. '09.since the beginning i noticed a strange quivering/shutter as it gears down from 2nd to 1st gear. I took it in at 1500 miles and a service coordinator told me it was "normal".it progressively got worse and became a vibrating clunk when gearing down.it also started lurching forward when stopped as i took my foot off the brake.i couldn't accept that the car was engineered to act this way.i took it back at 4,000 miles and they drove it and agreed there was an issue and duplicated it during a drive. They reset the electronic settings to factory and told me it was fixed.i drove it off the lot and immediately felt the same problem.i took it back and they said they had to consult with vw for a further fix.they got with vw and concluded the transmission needed a replacement front clutch pack.so the parts are on order.i have no confidence this will fix it since i have newly learned about all of the dsg issues in previous models with same transmission that seem to have no fix.it is extremely frustrating to pay $32k for a car that is broken from the beginning.vw needs their feet held to the fire just as toyota is with their quality problems.at least toyota has stepped up to the plate to address their with finality.
Purchased 2010 vw passat with 69 miles on 6/14/2010 immediately noticed vehicle shuddered in reverse after starting.on 6/27/2010 after driving approx. 4 blocks while on an incline the vehicle suddenly stopped.the rpms and the engine was revving up and the vehicle was in drive but the vehicle would go no where in addition no gear was indicated on the control display.changing gears didn't help.after repeatedly restarting the vehicle i was able to get it to display a gear and move.the same situation occurred again later that same evening almost under the same conditions. At this point the vehicle had less than 150 miles. I placed the vehicle for service the next day.the service tech indicated that vw was aware of a problem with the computer that controlled the transmission and that i should be getting a notice about a recall and that it would take up to two weeks to get the part.my vehicle was scheduled to be in the shop for after market detailing for two days anyway.on 6/29/2010 i was told my vehicle was ready that the tech's had driven the car around the parking lot and found nothing wrong that the computer needed to just learn the transmission.on 6/30/2010 i drove the vehicle to pa.on 7/1/2010 i experienced the same mechanical problem.after driving approx 1/4 - 1/2 mile i slowed down to turn into a fastfood establishment.after turning in about a car's length the vehicle stopped and would not move.i immediately put on my hazard lights and tried to move the vehicle and calm down the irate driver behind me.the vehicle was towed to the dealer.i was told that the dealer spoke with vw repeatedly and was told to drive the vehicle until the condition repeated.i am being told a code relating to the transmission was detected.that it was cleared and test drove and that there seems to be no problem.that the computer needed to relearn the transmission.no parts were replaced. This vehicle failed at less than 150 miles and i don't feel safe!
-the contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat wagon. The transmission shuttered as the vehicle slowed and went from a higher gear to a lower gear. The vehicle also lurched forward when the contact took she took her foot off the brake. The dealer stated that the vehicle was designed to function in that manner. The dealer was replacing the clutch at the time of the complaint. The vin was unavailable at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 500. The current mileage was approximately 4,000.
The seat frame on the driver's seat failed in my car.the steel had poor weld points and broke in half.it looked like cheap steel and had it happened in a wreck, it was possible that steel would have impaled the driver.
Volkswagen dealer refuses to fix recalls
There is a gas leak by rear tire. The mechanics that changed my tires said it was water. Went for an oil change, and they refused to do it because it's a gas leak. They can't tell where it's coming from.

"takata recll"i put a new motor in now the power steer light came on it is hard to turn. I was driver on i-10coming from dr.office in tall.it run good just "power steer" hard & just got the other "recall fix ,air bag, fuel pump, this month and lord please let me get help with this i was out a lot of money for motor.please jesus.
The clock spring on my car's steering has failed twice now in a 4 year period.vw refuses to acknowledge it's a problem and claims my model is not impacted by other recalls for that part.this last time the clock spring failed, the ribbon came undone and prevented me from turning the steering wheeling, nearly causing a wreck.after forcefully jerking the steering wheel, the ribbon came loose and i was able to turn.this is a safety issue since the loss of steering can result in a wreck.
My clock spring failed on my steering wheel and had to be replaced for the first time.symptoms were: the wheel locked up, a crunching sound was heard, and it was difficult to turn the car.
The contact owns a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was a popping sound as the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact also mentioned that the steering controls and horn failed to function. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000.
During the normal operation of the vehicle, without notice the steering wheel light comes on and disables the ability to steer the vehicle normally. I've incounter this problem at all speeds and also during idleling at a red traffic light. Please help as this may cause me to have a serious accident. Thank you
Vehicle lost power and shut off while driving on the street at approximately 20 mph.
The second time in one week i lost power steering while driving on a city street.loss of power steering due to clock spring malfunction?if that occurs while driving on a highway it very dangerous to me and other motorists. I purchase this vehicle 9 months ago.
Heard a loud "whirring" noise when the steering wheel was turned left or right when car was stationary - like it needed steering fluid - but it does not use fluid. Also having sporadic trouble with the car not starting when the key fob was put into the ignition. Vw replaced clock spring, steering rack & pinion, as well as the steering rack 3 times so far. The second time they replaced these parts, they obviously didn't test drive it. Cars front tires made loud noise - like i had on snow tires. I brought it back in for steering noise (still) and now the tires, and they had to replace both front tires due to "cupping" which was caused by incorrect installation of the steering rack. 20,000 miles later i still hear the noise, but now that my car has been "escalated" by vw, they now claim that this noise is normal. I feel that this is a serious safety issue, and do not feel comfortable driving the car.
My vehicle was a part of the clockspring recall for vw in 2015. The airbag light is now on and all steering wheel electrical controls are no longer working. Mechanic says it is a failure of the clockspring in the steering wheel.
I recently purchased a 2010 vw passat which has a chrome bezel around the shifter. The chrome bezel reflects light into the driver's eyes when the sun is directly over head blinding the driver during vehicle operation. I contacted the vw help desk about 10 days and filed a complaint. I received a phone call from vw yesterday and they told me not enough people have complained about this problem.i have also contacted the dealership who seemed to be pretty receptive in getting this matter resolved.they ordered a new black on black shifter which was the only other replacement part and it is the same one that i currently have.please contact me for i have several photos which demonstrate this potentially deadly design flaw.
While driving on the highway with the sunroof closed. Out of the blue and unprovoked - the sunroof exploded. It was not hit by anything to cause this. The majority of the glass flew out, but had the inner plastic sunroof material been open it certainly could have injured those inside. Additionally over the course of the next few days i did find dark glass shards in my hair that had clearly come from the sunroof. My story is lucky, but easily could have ended in injury to driver from the glass or from injuries to others on the road caused by an accident prompted by the shock of unprovoked shattering glass to the driver. The car is not very old (2010) and the sunroof is certainly not overused. This absolutely can't be the users' fault.
Air bag did not deploy in highway accident
My wife bought a 2008 touareg from a local dealer with about 16,000 miles on it andshe seldom drives the vehicle (to and from work). After about 3 or 4k miles the tires began to make alot of noise. I noted feathering/cupping only on the inside rear tires. The tires with new ones and after about 8,000 miles (w/rotations) the rear tires began to feather?cup again. I have a 2010 passat that has the same exact problem. When the tires begin to feather/cup the noise sounds like snow tires.this is the rear tires only and on the inside tread. I can't rotate the tires cause when you do, it sounds like one is running on all flat tires.i checked the web and there is thousands of complaints about this problem and of course vw denies any wrongdoing. I believe its a rear gear-box, or axle problem. I have spoke to many vw owners 07 thru 2010 and most have the same problem, while only a few do not. I believe a recall is on order. Vw engineers should be ashamed for allowing this defect to leave their factories and volkswagen to you i say..not built to last!
Noticed excessive wear on all four tires. Went to dealership to resolve the issue.they said the excessive cupping and feathering was not a volkswagen problem.i just needed to replace the all four tires at my own expense. I went to my own mechanic and the excessive cupping and feathering was not an alignment problem or problem inherent in the tire.the weight in the rear was too light.probably when the manufacturer used a light weight small spare, the weight of the vehicle changed and caused the excessive cupping and feathering.i added a 40lb bag of play sand in the trunk over the small spare tire and have not had any excessive cupping and feathering issues since.
The timing chain tensioners have gone out on my vehicle.the vehicle makes a noise when accelerating making it undriveable. The dealership states the repairs are not covered under the vw timing chain settlement

Takata recall. My vehicle is covered under the airbag recall but no action has been taken to remedy the recall.
Purchased the car at 62k engine timing chain went out at 72k i'm very frustrated they are not communicating with me on anything and nobody is helping.
Car stalled and stopped from full motion to reduced speed.
The contact owned a 2010 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that while driving slowly towards a stop sign, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and drove forward causing another vehicle to crash into the driverā€™s side of the vehicle. There were no injuries reported. A police report was filed. Neither the local dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000. The vehicle was destroyed.
Blinding glare problem: ipurchased 2010 vw passat komfort 2 weeks ago which has a silver shiny plate around the shifter. When sunshine hits this plate, it radiates lights into driver's eyes. If you happen to look at it, you get blinded for a few seconds like someone pointed the bright flash light into your eyes. I am still keeping the original plastic cover to reduce the brightness but eventually it will peel off. I cannot paint it in a dark color since it would void my warranty.the other part that produce glare is the silver portion of dashboard which is slightly tilted. When the sun is behind your back and hits a dashboard, the silver part of dashboard reflects on the sideview mirror creatingan image that looks like someone put white tape on it. Half of the sideview mirror is blocked for a driver's view.third problem is the night glare in the rearview and sideview mirror from the headbeams of the other car behind my car.if the rearview mirror is in a dimmed position, than a dashboard reflection is showing in it.and if you need to look at the sideview mirror, the headbeams light are shooting the extremely bright light straight into the eyes. This dark and bright contrast gets you blinded & disoriented. I am not sure is something wrong with the windows.i consider all of the above design feature very deadly. I am always driving with sun glasses, during a day drive, without them, it would be impossible. I complained to vw customer service & dealership, sent them an e-mail and a few pictures, the case manager did not offer any solution, only excuse that this is a vw design feature & as such they cannot change anything.

I bought a used 2001 vw passat for my daughter in august of 2009. It kept having problems with loosing tire pressure and i found cracks on the back side of all four rims where the bead of the tire seals. I then replaced all four wheels with the same oem vw wheel, part # 69745, about a year ago with reconditioned rims off ebay; the supplier told me they cannot recondition wheels with cracks. Last week i checked a low tire on the car and again found a crack on the new rim at the same location. As far as my daughter knows, she has not impacted anything against the wheel . I have to believe there is a dangerous defect in the design and or manufacturing of this rim and vw should be held responsible for my purchase and for the replacement of these rims.
