When turning the steering wheel it clicks as if something is loose. Dealership has replaced airbag and clock spring twice, steering wheel still clicks.

I just bought a used 2017 volkswagen jetta gli a month ago, and the airbag light just illuminated this past friday, along with no steering wheel controls working, and no horn. I called the place where i purchased it from, and they pretty much said oh well. This is a safety concern, as it affects the airbag. Is there anything i can do?

I havve been having electrical issues the past three-five months on this vehicle today when in a car accident the air bag lights came on but no air bags deployed fire and rescue siad they should have deployeed. The radio would turn on and off and sometimes the head lights wouldnt turn on.

The passenger side airbags deployed without provocation in the car i had just purchased on march 21, 2017. I had just pulled to a stop to allow a passenger to disembark in the parking lot of a convenience store. The airbags deployed making a horrific noise and engulfing the inside of the car with white smoke. The cause of the deployment is unknown. The car did not collide with anything. The problem was reported to the dealership on april 5, 2017 and to the corporate headquarters of volkswagen on april 7, 2017. The case # is 170305419. To date the car has not been solved. No one seems to have an explanation for what happened, and the car is still stilling on the lot of the dealership where it was returned.

Battery died. Went to dealer in another vehicle to purchase a battery. Installed the new battery and now have an airbag light. Called dealer to learn how to reset airbag, and they said it requires a special tool to reset along with a service charge ($80 to $160). Should an airbag system require special tool and/or knowledge when the car is required to have them? everything else is operating normally, but airbags are out of service.

The contact owned a 2017 volkswagen jetta. While driving 10-15 mph in traffic on the freeway, another vehicle slammed on the brakes. As a result, the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle. The contact's insurance company towed the vehicle to a lot and deemed it totaled. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

I was parked and suddenly my car did not want to start, no warning lights came on before experiencing this issue. After bringing it to the dealership according to them battery needs to be replaced again and it has been only about 2 years or less from last replacement.this issue clearly needs to be address immediately as batteries should last for minimum of 3 years. Also after experiencing problems with the battery the airbag warning lights came on andvolkswagen dealership is stating i must replace faulty airbag indicator light and pay it from my pocket which i find unacceptable. This issue needs to be further investigated as airbag warning indicator can also be related to ' volkswagen's clock spring problems'.

Car has 65k on it and has been acting up for at least 10k miles on the following items:1. The airbag indicator light on dash went on for no reason and i had to pay a diagnostic fee for it to be reset.2. The radio links to my phone only 50% of the time with a failure notice posted on the monitor. The bluetooth will still work but to connect with my cord to also charge, very inconsistent. 3. The tire dash light is constantly illuminated despite having the tires and monitors checked several times. 4. The back up warning indicator has recently stopped alerting me and i came within inches of backing into a car today. I would like my dash to be error message free and my radio reliably working via my phone cord. I have tried different cords, purchased new tires and monitors, and the same issues continually occur.this all occurs when the vehicle is powered on, does not matter if it is parked or being driven.

Car can be turned off even if the vehicle is not in park. The car was turned off while still in drive unbeknownst to the driver. This resulted in the car rolling into another vehicle in a parking lot. This could have caused a lot of damage to pedestrians and other vehicles. A accident did occur on feb 12, 2021 in sprouts grocery store parking lot in la mesa, san diego ca. Insurance companies have been involved to repair the other parties vehicle involved. The damage to the mentioned car includes damage to the bumper, tail light and side body. The other vehicle involved needs the entire side panel replaced.

As i drove home one night, the fuel gauge was showing empty when i knew that the tank was half full. This is dangerous for a remote, rural driver who needs to know how much gas is left in the tank. Nothing out of the ordinary was present for this occurrence. After i turned the car off and turned it back on the gauge was back to normal. I will be monitoring closely from here on out.

I have notice since purchasing the car it has issues with mileage and correct has to mileage. I spoke with be when first getting it and the service worker acknowledged the issue but did not fix it. It is still a problem now. You can fill the tank up go a mile down the street and it will say you have driven 30 miles. Even when the vehicle is in park it will say you are driving at least 2 miles per hour. I have a video that better places the situation as well.this vehicle also have the cd player run hot, the lighter ports do not work again, and the antifreeze light has come on every year since purchasing this car. My car is stalling upon starting intermittently for the last 2 months. I have read several places about people having an issue of having cars of this year stalling while driving which is extremely dangerous. I am fearful my issue could turn into this. I have taken my car to the dealer and it is not throwing any codes. The dealer did say they had cars come in with the issue of them stalling while driving and they've replaced the fuel injector module (a $900 repair). I have also contacted vw about this issue with no resolution.

While driving the my driver side window fell of track and fell down towards the door panel. It caused debris to fall into my car almost causing me to. Crash. I lost important documents. This is the second time. Back in 2018 the driver side window fell of track while was driving almost causing me to crash. It felt as if i was struck by lighting. It was a very scary moment. I just don't want my family to get hurt.it was repaired and was told that it is a common issue. Please help

I have a 2017vw jetta which suddenly 'locks' as i am driving. My car suddenly starts reducing speed and the breaks become stiff. I see several lights flash on the dashboard, such as the epc light, tire warning lights, and motor light. After the matter, if i want to start the vehicle again, the break and shift stick become stiff and i can't start the ignition. I recall this happening to me one year after buying the vehicle but all i did was turn off the car and the lights went away. I was able to drive my car without that happening for a year or so and it happened again. Same thing, i would have to pull over, turn the vehicle off and wait for about 20-30 min for the vehicle to start. Yesterday this happened to me while driving to work. I was driving about 70mph on the freeway and i noticed my steering wheel became stiff and my car started reducing speed on its own. I no longer had control of the vehicle forcing me to pull over on the side of the freeway at a very low speed almost causing an accident. I had to wait about 15 min for my car to start and was able to get down of the freeway but it kept on happening on my way home and i had to pull over about 6 times waiting 10-15min each time for my car to start. I scheduled a service appointment with my local dealership so they can take a look at it and hopefully fix this problem.i believe this is a safety issue that needs to get addressed immediately.

Volkswagen does not offer an override for the tracrion control on the 2017 jetta 's' model, due to this i have become stuck multiple times in snowy conditions, which could lead to a collision

Car starts to shake epc light and engine light come on have to pull over for it to stop shaking

Front assist does not work

I called volkswagen today to ask about the fuel rail repair and was informed they have no solution nor a time frame of when they intend to be able to fix it. I personally don't feel safe allowing my son to continue to drive the car. I was then informed that i could not sell the car due to the recall now i'm stuck with a vehicle i cannot sell or drive due to the possibility that it my catch fire. I feel as though they should be required to fix it in a timely manner or buy the vehicle back

On three separate occasions, while driving between 65-75mph on the highway with 1/4 to 1/2 full tank of gas, my car began to stutter/hesitate.immediately the "epc" light came on with the check engine symbol, blinking. All power to the accelerator ceased. I immediately pulled over on each instance, turned the car off and waited 2-5 minutes. After waiting, i successfully re-started the car each time, with the check engine light remaining on.after the first instance, i drove <40mph to a volkswagen dealer and left my car to be inspected.the conclusion was, "not enough gasoline", despite the tank reading 1/4 full.after that instance, i made a point to never let the gas fall below 1/2 full.on the two other occasions of hesitation/loss of power, the tank fell between 1/4 and 1/2 full.after pulling over, turning the car off, and restarting the car, i immediately drove to a gas station and filled up to a full tank without bringing in for inspection.keeping the gas tank above 1/2 full, i have not experienced the issue.when the gas falls below 1/2 a tank, it has occurred while highway driving.

I needed to make a left hand turn from a street into a complex, was still moving at approximately 25mph and when i went to apply the brakes, the vehicle was not slowing or stopping. As i continued trying to make the turn, the vehicle did not slow down until i hit the curb and later the wall where i came to a stop.

I was accelerating from a 40 mph zone to a 65 mph highway when the car began to sputter and then enter a limp mode.i was able to pull the car to the side of the road and could smell a strong odor of gas.i raised the hood to see an overwhelming amount of fuel spraying from the passenger side of the engine.the engine was turned off and the vehicle was towed to the nearest certified mechanic, valley motor honda, sheridan wy.there was not a vw shop within 100 miles of the breakdown.upon original inspection, a torques head bolt was discovered loose from the fuel rail and the fuel rail was separated from the injector on the distal cylinder (see picture).simply tightening the fuel rail did not satisfy the problem. This is reportedly the result of the injectors shifting position and/or being damaged. After learning about this common vw jetta problem, the car was towed to the nearest vw dealership in billings montana.it appears that the prescribed recall fix for this issue might only require some loctite and wrench turning for the cars that have not yet experienced this catastrophic failure. The fix looks to be more extensive for cars like mine that were not caught in time.the car has been at billings volkswagen for 14 days without resolution.i do not know what parts are involved or why the repairs not available.i can provide a copy of the repair bill from valley motor honda in which the fuel rail was identified as the source of mechanical failure.

Vehicle fuel pumps failed and vehicle disabled.i immediately smelled a strong odor of gasoline.vehicle towed to local mechanic; upon inspection, noticed, smelled gas leaking from vehicle rail bolts.volkswagen america contacted and vehicle towed to local volkswagen dealership (ourisman, waldorf, md).initially told no gas leaking, charged $229.00 with recommendation to clean engine and interior covering under the hood and new cabin filter (i declined and voiced my frustration).told no gasoline leaking and released the vehicle.a few days pass and vehicle sits, notice a puddle of gasoline and called dealership.told to tow vehicle to dealership, told again no gasoline leaking.i traversed to dealership and pointed out the issue.then told my issue and not covered by recall .... Lots more to tell volkswagen of america case number # 04621276

I purchased this vehicle from larson automotive group in mid january 2021 and, only after checking your site, found the recall. I notified them and they returned the car and i purchased a different jetta that i have no problems with. My concern is that they are still selling this vehicle and at least 4 other jetta 1.4 ts on their site. I am worried others will not check as i did and be sold a car that is unsafe, with an active recall.

I feel there is something wrong electrically and engine wise.

I received a recall notice on a leaking fuel problem. I have tried to make an appointment but they say they cant repair it. I feel very uncomfortable driving my car because i have seen some leaking liquid.

This 2017 jetta had a massive amount of gasoline spraying from the fuel rail which was caused by poorly installed fuel rail bolts.the car was towed to a certified vw dealership on nov 11th for repair of this documented manufacturer defect.the car remains in the possession of billing montana volkswagen with no resolution to the open safety recall.it is now december 28th, 2020.the car has been in vw hands for 46 days.i was told that it could take up to six more months to figure out the "prescribed fix".

My vehicle is under recall because my fuel rail bolts can become loose causing a fuel leak and a fire. I do not feel safe allowing my daughter to drive my vehicle going back and forth to college.i have contacted volkswagen corporate concerning a loaner vehicle until a remedy exist.they told me the dealerships handle loaners and a recall that does not have a remedy does not qualify for a loaner car per the dealership.i still have two years to pay on this vehicle that is deemed unsafe and there is absolutely nothing i can do about it evidently.is there a law firm heading up a class action lawsuit or is the government helping in any other way.this is how the biggest automaker in the world handles recalls.we had a recall with no remedy in our lincoln and corporate lincoln gave us a loner at no cost for 7 months until they figured out how to fix it.i am forced to keep paying for a vehicle that may kill my daughter.if they can't fix it they should be forced to buy it back.

Removing the key while the shift lever is in a position other than "park" increases the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.i asked after i first bought the car and they said it was normal.i called recently and was told my vin number was not included in the recall.it is a daily dangerous failure on vw's part.it happens every day and when called they said i would have to pay for it.i did not get any recall information about the issue.

My vehicle had been running normally and without issue until i got it home and when i needed to leave again, the engine would crank but would not start. Found to have a gas leak pooling under my car and fuel leaking out from around the fuel rod every time i turned the key. 2017 vw jetta 1.4l gas enginejolts when pressing or depressing acceleration pedal under 20mi/h. Brakes to a sudden stop (not smooth) when bringing car to a complete stop.

Upon placing in reverse, the engine bogs down, lowering the front end of the vehicle and causes a bad vibration. Shifting into any other gear from reverse causes a hard jerking motion as if it has trouble releasing from reverse gear. This is worse upon just starting the vehicle, or starting and stopping for several trips in one day.

As i continued trying to make the turn, the vehicle did not slow down until i hit the curb and later the wall where i came to a stop.

I was driving down a busy city street, going about 30 mph.i noticed the car in front of me was stopped from 100 feet back and i slammed on my brakes.my car did not stop, it did not slow down at all. The weather was warm, the road was dry and it was like trying to stop on an icy road and i rear ended the car in front of me.my air bags did not deploy either.the other car had minimal damage to her back bumper. She was injured, i had minor whiplash.

I was traveling on the highway with the cruise control on at 65 mph and it suddenly slowed down or disengaged for no reason. I didn't think much of it and returned to the same speed and turned on the cruise again. Then about 15 minutes later, when traffic begin to slow ahead, i tried hitting the brakes and had zero braking ability. The cruise did not disengage and i had to pull the e brake to get the car to slow down causing the car to fish tail and almost hit a concrete barrier.

The car lost power on a city street at about 40 mph then my son couldn't steer or brake. All dash lights were flashing so we have no idea what is really wrong. Trying to get off of the road he went into a ditch. The radiator was busted/leaking so he had to get his step father to come get it. I cannot afford the radiator to get it fixed at this time due to the note on it. It has done this to me in the past. I noticed the odd whining sound it makes when cranked was worse the day it happened to me. I was on the highway at 55mph so i stopped and about 10 minutes later cranked it and it made it home. We had it checked for codes and it showed no problem codes.

Problems with front assist.i was told this feature was on my vehicle and verified that it was at the time of sale. Unfortunately it does not ever detect a vehicle in front of me.i could be idling and hit a brick wall or going 65mph down i95 and a vehicle suddenly stops in front of me either event nothing happens. This system does not work as described and there are no warning lights on my dashboard and the front assist system is enabled every time i start the vehicle.the fact that this system doesn't work at all is very disappointing as it was a major selling point of the car

Purchased new 2017 vw jetta from the dealer. Always keep up with the service. Alarm horn has been intermittently working and finally went out at 43000 miles. After reading many message boards seems like an ongoing issue on many new models with low miles.

Purchased vehicle new.after approximately 15,000 miles, vehicle began to pull to right upon accecleration. (turbo engine.)took to all 3 dealerships in the las vegas/henderson area multiple times.put four new michelen tires on in november, 2018. The pull remained consistant and is getting worse.dealerships diagnosed problem and documented as "torque steer; a design characterist of transverse mounted engine and trans axle."after conducting my own research, i determined "torque steer" is a safety problem.from the words of a certified mechanic, "torque steer is due to the malfunction of one or more springs located in the trans axel and may lead to a sever safety problem as it gets worse."at one dealership, while waiting for my car, i drove, with the mechanic, a like kind 2016 jetta.it pulled to the right all the time.i was told by one of my bussiness clients her 2014 turbo jetta pulled to the right all the time. In november of 2018, i retained a "lemon law" attorney.the attorney would not take the case until their firm concluded there was sufficiant documentation to support the problem.they took the case and the outcome is still pending.after 6+ months, i have now concluded my car is not a "lemon" and believe all like kind jetta's will experience the same problem and the nhtsa should conduct an investigation to determine if these vehicles should be recalled.my vehicle pulls upon acceleration on any city street, freeway or highway 100%.

I have identified a matter related to the rear view cam which merits attention.i contacted vw directly as well as my local dealership and neither felt that further action was warranted. Since this is clearly a safety issue it seemed that the next step would be contacting this agency.because of a glitch in the rear cam software i narrowly avoided two separate incidents; in one there was a close call with a vehicle passing behind me and in another a neighborhood child was riding a bicycle directly behind the vehicle.at issue is the fact that the rear view cam display will stop transmitting images if you brake while backing up, turn on the radio and then resume backing up. To recreate the problem follow these steps:1.start vehicle2.shift into reverse ' rear view cam image seen in display view3.apply brake until vehicle at a full stop 4.turn on radio5.radio stations appear in the display view6.take foot off brake and continue backing up7.radio station continues in the display view and not the image behind the vehiclehere is a video demonstrating the glitch:https://drive.google.com/file/d/13gac4i5gkwnofk6z8j8y77jgudxhqrbi/view?usp=sharingsince this is a safety issue i thought you might be interested and want to investigate ' and find a remedy for - this apparent software glitch.

I have a volkswagen jetta gli 2.0 turbo.it currently has 55,000.i am having a problem on initial start where by it runs rough, sometimes stalls at idle and sometimes stalls on initial acceleration.this started as a 30 day progress of getting worse.now the yellow engine light comes on and at the same time the cruise control yellow light appears (intermittent).computer diagnostics were run.when tests were run as a group no failures reported but when run individually 7 faults occurred including cylinder miss-fires and camshaft adj bank 1 intake error

I purchased my vehicle new at 19,000 miles the adaptive cruise control system has failed which also controls the autonomous braking, the extra 2500 dollars for this system is useless, and will not hold a re-calibration.

I was driving home on a city street. They had done this after i got them serviced before and i notified the dealership, however, i was told they were fine.

My car can be turned off and does need to be in park.the electrical comes and goes but the most alarming is the jetta accelerates on it's own and it takes a couple of minutes to get it under control.at one point i have no way of stopping the acceleration to stop.also, i asked crestmont vw if it was normal to have car off and not in park.they acted like it was normal.the jetta has rolled back and almost hit people.i have not received any recalls from the company.it happens all the time.

The contact owns a 2017 volkswagen jetta. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact attempted to slow down by depressing the brake pedal; however, the vehicle spontaneously accelerated. The contact had to push the start button and shift into park to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact also stated that the failure occurred approximately four times in one month and was worsening. The vehicle was taken to volkswagen van nuys (6115 van nuys blvd, van nuys, ca 91401) where it was awaiting diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 8,400.

Vehicle was in motion traveling at freeway speeds of about 65mph when the sunroof suddenly exploded causing safety hazard, luckily car was kept under control. Sunroof exploded and glass hit the drivers behind me as well as myself. Was given a quote of 1,319.00 and was told that no financial assistance would be provided by volkswagon and that it would have to come out of pocket.

Issue on zero intensity of the instruments gauge illumination during the daytimei have experienced the dimmed instrument gauges on my 2017 jetta and confirmed this is due to the automatic illumination adjustment feature of the model. This report covers only for the specific vin, however, the issue is caused by the design, any model year jetta and the same design architecture models from vw will have the same issue. I have experienced the issue under bright sunlight while driving on the regular street, but a bit of shady area by nearby tree or building. Even i'm using the sunglasses due to the reflection of sun light or direction of the car facing to at that time.my 2017 jetta has light sensor in between a bit offset position of tachometer letter "7" and "8", that is about 1/4 inch or 5 mm diameter in size, and this sensor controls the illumination of both tachometer and speed gauge. (graphic lcd display and needles keeps the full brightness.) it will be dark if surrounding is dark and becomes bright if surrounding is brighter. This controls too much and becomes zero intensity is not acceptable according to the regulation "s5.3.2 brightness of illumination of controls and indicators" under "49 cfr 571.101 - standard no. 101; controls and displays."i did contact with vw of america to inform this issue, but customer care representative cannot do anything beyond diagnostic result at dealer that they are insisted the vehicle operated as spec.it is very simple to replicate the same issue at any location, without driving and without turn on the engine. It just simply covering the light sensor area by the palm or any cloth to imitate the darkness while ignition is on. It is even darker than illumination while headlight on at that time for experiment. Again, this is under the daylight.

2017 vw jetta sel was purchased new 11/02/ 2017. From the start, the hankook kntrol m&s 224/45/r17 tires provided very poor control in wet or even light snow driving conditions, in spite of good alignment and wheel balance. By 22,000 miles(07/2020) the tires had become extremely noisy , with a thump, thump noise at low speeds. The dealership where i purchased the vehicle from, did a complete vehicle check in august of 2020, indicated no problem with the vehicle itself and placed the blame on the tires, of which they have no responsibility. Hankook corporate said they have no responsibility, in spite of tires still being within warranty . Reading numerous consumer reviews showed that my problem and safety concerns are shared by many who have oem habkooks. This includes toyota and honda owners, for example. My concern is that beyond the 'noise'issue, there is a safety issue. Of the 150 + reviews, a common concern was not just poor performance and very short treadwear life, but a very real safety concern.the safety concern, above all, needs to be investigated by your agency.thank you

Vehicle consistently pulling to right while driving at any speed on any surface street..increases at acceleration. Aligned x 4 in 2018, tires balanced, rotated, still same pull.purchased 4 new michelin tires on 11/5/2018.vehicle still pulls to right.vehicle has been in and out of volkswagen service department.vehicle at vw service 11/16/2018.there solution is aligning vehicle out of specs to compensate for right pull.when vehicle needs future alignment, my concern is vehicle will start to pull again.service department should inspect front wheel drive components.vehicle still under factory warranty and i am paying for portions of unsuccessful "repairs," and enterprise rental car.first dealership service department altered date i brought vehicle in as it is different from date listed on loaner vehicle contract.same dealership, as confirmed buy second dealership, returned my vehicle as "repaired" with out of alignment printout and clearly not repaired. Neither dealership has, or is, taking the time to properly inspect vehicle to determine cause of consistent right pull.

Bridgestone ecopia 205/55r16 tire on front left hand side has a bulge in the sidewall. Vehicle is a 2017 vw jetta se with 9653 miles. Tire is original.i have no recollection of any event that could have caused damage to this tire.
