Read complaints for VOLKSWAGEN JETTA (2013)

I was stopped at a solid red traffic light and when i got the green light to proceed straight across the intersection i began to accelerate.halfway through the intersection another vehicle (vehicle #2) crossed my path of travel on the right hand passenger side and vehicle #2 driver's side crashed into my front end.my vehicle was spun around counter clockwise due to the impact of vehicle #2.as a result of this crash my vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and pieces and parts were strewn all over the road.fluid was leaking out of my vehicle and the vehicle was not able to be operated post-collision.with the heavy front end damage the driver, passenger and side airbags in my vehicle did not deploy.

Passenger isnt detected, airbags wont deploy on that side. Car randomly wont detect a passenger in the seat, and will deactive the airbags.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the air bag light sensor continued to illuminate at random. The warning sensor indicated that the air bag was turned off. The contact experienced difficulty when turning the key in the ignition multiple times at random. The key also became stuck in the off position. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure more than once. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20000.

Transmission replaced, steering wheel control not working, module failed

2013 volkswagen jetta.consumer writes in regards to vehicle side impact airbag system malfunction.*ldthe consumer stated the vehicle was involved in an accident, where it was t-boned causing it to spin out of control. There was significant damage to the right side of the vehicle. None of the airbags deployed.

Passenger side airbag sensor has failed in under 3 years from date of purchase, vw is refusing to admit that this is a part defect on their end and is requiring me to pay for the repairs.this vehicle has never been in any accidents and is garage kept and in mint condition.

I was driving home from work on 5/27/15 around sunset and two deer jumped over a barbwire fence at the end of round hay bales. At this time, i was driving approximately 65mph when i seen them, barely having time to stomp on my brakes. I estimate i hit them going at least 55 to 60 mph and my airbags did not deploy on impact. I am concerned with why they did not deploy especially since my car is possibly totaled. I hit the deer from the middle of my bumper to the driver side of my car, sending the hood into the windshield and smashing the driver side back into the doors. The damages go on and on, thankfully i was wearing my seat belt at the time. But since the accident i have been suffering from multiple injuries that the medications prescribed do not remotely touch the pain: neck pain with numbness that comes and goes to my hands, severe back all the way down to my butt, pelvic pain with numbness to my buttocks, left sided rib pain with shortness of breath especially with to much exertion and pain with deep breathes, left knee/ankle pain and the inability to bear complete weight to knee/ankle along with swelling. Severe pain that shoots down back to pelvic when bending over, inability to cross legs and ankles without causing stabbing pain in pelvic area. As a nurse myself, i personally feel that if the airbags deployed like they were meant to do so i would not have nearly as many issues as i do now. The purpose of airbags are to prevent injuries and since mine did not deploy, i'm suffering severely with constant pain that keeps my from sleeping well(causing fatigue), the inability to stand or sit for a prolonged amount of time, and to stand in certain positions.

Airbag light/sign on the dashboard is always on,charging outletnot working , vw let us pay $189.00 for diagnostic and want us to pay $500.00 from the refund for the class action lawsuit to fix the airbag prob. They claim it was electricalwiring chewed by rodents.

My wife must sit on an extra seat cushion in the front passenger seat.but when she does the air bags deactivate.so air bags won't deploy around her seat.dealer says there is no way to switch the air bags on.this is very dangerous!there should be a way to switch the front passenger air bags on so they will deploy if there is impact.

Less than 30000 miles replaced transmission, airbag light stay on ,no horn,no steering wheel controls.same thing recalled for jetta, but not jetta hybirds..

Takata recallvw jeta was in an accident due to freezing rain in january 2017 (knoxville, tn). Vw slid into another car causing in excess of $5,000 damage; however, the airbags failed to activate.complete failure in air conditioning system/compressorelectrical system locks/unlocks doors while driving. Electrical system rolls down windows for no reason. This begun70k miles

My car was already recalled for airbag spring issue but the airbag light was on again and still continue on always.

Takata recall - i am just giving notice that my airbags may be faulty and may need a replacement.thank you very much

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving 15 mph, the brakes failed and the contact's vehicle rear ended the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact was not injured and a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to a certified independent mechanic and the body damage was repaired. In addition, when the vehicle was in park or reverse, it would jerk. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

Took car in for recall at volkswagen dealership. They "forgot" to do recall on airbag. Next time they performed recall but steering wheel is clicking, horn does not work, none of the steering wheel buttons function and airbag light remains on. Took car for an expensive engine repair and i told them the recall was not completed as the recall should have been and they told me the other volkswagen marked it as complete and it would cost me $2000 because airbag has been ripped out and disconnected. So i have no horn, no steering wheel function keys, a steering wheel that clicks when a hard turn is made and a ripped, disconnected non-functioning airbag.

Clock spring broke when turning wheel 1.5 revolutions while backing the car into a parking spot.

In 12/2014 i started realizing issues with auto-transmission in the morning when i start the car.the issue continued to happen every single day. Dealer was not able to diagnose the problem because it only happen first thing in the morning.

Ignition switch will not release the key can not turn off engine( three times the weekend of 6 11 2016)

Key will not come out of ignition, making it impossible to turn off. Looks exactly like recall 19v615000 from last year, but my vin isn't included, despite being in the same years and models. Ignition fails to recognize when vehicle is in park and won't let key be released. Leaves me stranded and unable to turn off car or remove key.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the horn, alarm, and door locks failed to beep/operate as intended without warning. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

The key gets stuck so it wont turn to shut the car off.if able to get it to turn the car off the key gets stuck so you can't take it out.trying to turn the car off the key gets stuck.

Traveling down the road my 2013 volkswagen jetta would suddenly shut off. It began to happen more frequently the hotter the weather got and my mechanic said it was do to an over heated sensor. He also stated that you don't have to be driving but just sitting in the driveway on a hot day can cause the sensor to overheat. This is a very dangerous situation because the car can and will die at anytime without warning. My mechanic also said that it is a well known problem that happens frequently in the hotter months and volkswagen refuses to acknowledge or do anything about the issue. It costs just over $200 to repair.

So my vehicle is a 2013.5 vw jetta gli (nhtsa does not have options to list the variant of the car). So the car stalled on me the first time in july when i was getting of the exit ....just lost complete engine power ...and basically the car shut off on me. The steering got really stiff and the brakes became hard and it was an extremely horrific situation.the battery indicator came on ...and then after cranking the car back up it ran fine. Took it to the dealer the day after (because they needed an appointment) ...they said nothing was wrong with car and they replaced the crank shaft sensor as an "educated guess". Anyways after about a week ....the car shut off on me twice within a 5 minute difference. Each time the battery light came on and that was it. And the last time the epc light came on as well. Dealer cannot find any problems with my car since they cannot replicate an intermittent issue. So this is a major safety hazard ...and not a good feeling to lose control of your car in the middle of the road.i have lost complete faith in vw and my car.

"fuel pump defect".my 2013 vw jetta has been randomly stalling out in mid commute within the last few months.i will be driving and the vehicle just cuts off and i have to crank the car back on and being mindful of ongoing traffic.this is increasing becoming an issue as i initially thought it was a random occurrence however as this has repeatedly occurred out of no where when i'm traveling in heavy traffic it has become very scary in an accident occuring. I saw that there isa recall on select vw vehicles however it does not include my vehicle which appears should also be immediately included as this is a serious safety issue with this vehicle.

I bought a new 2013 volkswagen jetta 2.5l se. We purchased this car as a third vehicle for my two teenage children to use. My son was home from college and used it to commute to a daily internship during the summer of 2016 when he noticed that on two occasions it lost power on the highway while he was traveling 60 miles per hour. That fall i took my daughter to do her drivers test in the jetta. It lost power twice en-route to the facility and lost power an additional three times while i drove it home. I took it to the dealer a few days later and it lost power several times on the way. I complained to dick dean (the dealer we bought it from) and to volkswagen on multiple occasions. I told them that this situation threatened the safety of my two children. The dealer claims that they couldn't get the car to mimic the complaint. Dick dean and volkswagen offered me a few thousands dollars off on a new jetta. I took the offer because of the safety factor of my children. I think it is the height of irresponsibility of both organizations for not standing behind their product given the serious nature of this complaint. When i researched this issue i found numerous other customers with the same complaint about the 3013 jetta. I am shocked that this company is allowed to get away with this kind of behavior, forcing a customer to pay for a new car when there is a serious safety issue involved. This car had around 20,000 miles on it at the time and was still under extended warranty!

2013 jetta se with 79k on it and the key is stuck in the ignition - it's at the dealer now and i'm sure from what i've read it's going to be rather costly to fix a problem that vw is aware of and not willing to recall. I have had many cars and never encountered anything like this - absurd.

For the last 30,000 miles my vehicle has sporadically stalled out or shuddered heavily as if it was about to stall while driving at low speeds or accelerating. This month however, my vehicle stalled out and completely lost power for a few seconds while driving at low speed in heavy traffic on the interstate. Each time i was driving straight and not turning was involved. My transmission has been replaced twice and each time this did not solved the issue. These incidents keep increasing in severity and occur randomly so i do not know when to expect. I feel unsafe when these instances occur.

While my fiance was on way to work at around 6 a.m. She stopped at light when she went to go it bucked a little then started going when all of a sudden the car would not move in the middle of traffic. Luckily some people where around to help her push it out of traffic she got hold of me went to her started car but would not move called tow truck had it towed to vw dealer where she had purchased it and has always had her service done. While waiting for service to call i did some investigation on computer and what do you think i found yep so many complaints with same problem. So when the call came from them was told few things wrong the electric motor was dead but he said the good news it is covered by the hybrid warranty then i said ok whats the bad news was told transmission needed to be replaced, i said to the gentleman that vw new about this and they just wait and pray the warranty runs out. I refuse to pay $7700 to fix it purchased car in 2015 with almost 14000 miles in all that time she when this happened she had a total of 59000 miles. Vw new they had problem did recall for a few but from what i read that does not fix the corrosion that has already happened shame on them and the dealers that sold them. These dealers need to complain to vw on behalf of there customers who came them in good faith and a fist full of money.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the ignition switch failed to turn and release the key. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column failed not allowing the key to be release and will needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Jetta has odor when ac is turned on. Service department indicates the circulatory (c) must be used at all times. Does not correct issue . First time service department tco'd. 2nd time back to shop, they wanted 150.00 to repair after 3 months. This is a serious defect. Problem is actually caused by air condensor fluid pooling in valve instead of evaporating. Poor engineering. Causes light head must open windows for fresh air. People with parkinson's and sensitive nervous systems should avoid this car.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.this will be the 3rd time the ignition housing has had to be replaced in the last 3 years.the last time it happened i had to leave my car running in the driveway overnight.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v615000(electrical system, steering). The contact took the vehicle back from where it was purchased and was informed that an authorized volkswagen dealer needed to be contacted. The contact called nhtsa for further assistance and was informed that the parts were not available to service the recall. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

My key constantly gets stuck in the ignition. My car turns on but not off which leaves me to unhook the battery and take out fuse so no one steals my car overnight. A lot of people i know with jettas are having this same issues. I think it is a malfunction with the ignition switch. I also have a lot of electrical issues. My horn does not work, windshield wiper fluid doesnt work, my passenger window as well! there needs to be a recall asap !

Ignition wouldn't turn off. Had to monkey with the key for about 5 minutes before the car would shut off. Multiple complaints have been made on this issue. Please issue recall. Also noted that the key has been difficult to turn at time since shortly after purchasing the car a month ago.

"takata recall" i have replace my headlights 5x within the last 4 years. When replace only works for about 6-9 months then i have to replace it again. One time i waited for 1yr to replace the head light and magically it came back on. I was like wow, really.now my doors and horn is gone out. My horn only works when it wants to. My doors lock but it takes a while for it to figure it out. You have to hit the bottom like 3x before it works.

I keep getting phone calls of vehicle recalls i have a 2013 jetta se 2.5. I do not timber the date of the recalls but i know there is another recall on my vehicle

Ignition would not turn off resulting in having to leave the car running for an extended period of time.features built in to the car did not permit me to lock the car while the key was in ignition. The car had to be left running with no way to lock the car to prevent theft or children from accessing the car. Vehicle was stationary.

Key gets stuck in position when turning off the engine.can't turn off vehicle or remove the key

After my volkswagen 3 years 36k warranty was over i started having problems removing my key from the ignition.i had mentioned it to the service advisor who stated that my warranty was already lapsed and i would be responsible for the repair. In april 2018, i received a notice from volkswagen of an extended warranty on the steering column lock housing may develop a problem of hard to remove the key or not being able to remove it all.this is the exact problem that i have been having since the manufactures warranty expired in june of 2016. In the attached letter it states that the warranty extension extended to address this problem was for 10 years or 100k whichever comes first.i currently have about 104k on my vehicle, but none the less took it into volkswagen of the woodlands in texas to have it diagnosed for this defective steering housing on 04/28/2018.i was advised that the steering housing was in fact defective by the technician at this dealership. I was unable to get resolution from volkswagen customer service and contacted kathrene fox at vw executive office to see if volkswagen would cover this defective part since i was 4k over there 100k extended part warranty which should be a safety recall not a extended warranty as outlined in there letter.i was told by ms. Fox that vw could not cover the steering housing which is without doubt a safety hazard because i was not a loyal customer and i was over there warranty extension for this defective steering column housing by 4k. I am willing to assist you in your investigation in any way to resolve this safety issue that involves numerous vehicle.thank you

Both of my low beam lights went out at the same time while driving at night and my car would not turn off.my car was running and could not be turned off.. The car had to be taken to the dealership to turn off the car. If the dealership had been closed orthe car required gas ori was traveling out of town. I would not have any recourse but to run the car until it cut off but still the keys would be stuck in the ignition.both incident are very serious safety concerns..the ignition lock had to be replaced and both lights has to be replaced after only 42, 000.. This is not routine maintenance. These are both serious concerns that must be addressed.vw customer care refuse to stand behind its product and cost was out of pocket.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated while driving at 40 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle loss motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact placed the vehicle in park for 30 seconds and attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (mission bay volkswagen ' (address 2205 morena blvd, san diego, ca 92110) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was a crack in the transmission which caused oil to leak into the electrical gear box. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

Faulty horn in both stationaty and moving positions. Will work and then suddenly stop working. Replaced horn right after purchase, but continued to have problems later.

While driving on the highway the car cut off the epc light came on .i managed to restart and pull over and then after three attempts the car started and stayed on .the epc light came on again.i had the car looked at by the car repair shop that i was near out of fear of driving; but no sooner did i get the car back the same thing started happening to the vehicle( while in motion the car stalls no light necessarily come on with exception of the epc light which does not stay on.oppose to me pouring money into the car i read about recalls and this same thing is happening in other models but my vin is not listed and i want it included this is dangerous and inconvenienant please help me

While i was driving, the car shut itself off. There were three separate incidents.the dealership kept the car for two weeks and re-programmed the computer after conferring with vw.

My car was parked. I was checking oil and fluids when i noticed that there was battery acid corrosion throughout the engine compartment. It was on the battery box, radiator hose, master cylinder and on the wire to the battery. The battery connectors and battery posts are clean with no corrosion.

Car keeps locking and unlocking at 10mph. Had my right rear latch replaced, now my left rear is doing the same thing

Takata recall. Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off engine.

I was told that my transmissions had a recall and when i called there were no open recalls for them i've been having a problem recently where my car was going from electric to gasoline which caused my car to stall and then when i pressed on the gas my car would not go but the car would still be on with no dash bored lights on they come on and then they turn off. I asked if they can look at what was replaced and they said it would charge me an expensive amount to pay per hour which is crazy! when i first got the car there were a lot of codes that they completely erased from the car the day after i got it from another owner i was already having issues and she called and asked just there was no available slots then too. What my car is doing is dangerous and it's scary i don't even want to drive it at this point and i only had it since march 13th if this year and the recall was done in february the one guy told me and i'm the beginning he told me january and they won't do nothing about itmy e mode won't come on anymore and when my car is in stationary it jerks continuously.

Driving on city street, the engine quit.there was no power and the auto had to be towed to a repair station. Repair was jx1 power electronic output model which was coded and adapted to vehicle. :(per brunswick auto mart document). It would appear that this vehicle engine electronic control module failed.if the failure happened on a highway during high volume of traffic a serious issue would occur.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact received a notification in the mail per nhtsa campaign number: 19v615000( electrical system, steering). The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The contact called nhtsa and was informed that the parts were not available. The contact stated that the tire warning indicator illuminated. Also, the vehicle made hard shifts while driving at various speeds. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

While parked, key gets stuck on ignition and while trying to turn of the engine. There is also major resistance when trying to turn the key to the "on" position to start the car. A few times it took more than 20 min of trying in order to successfully turn off the engine and remove the key, although turning off the car does not mean the key will not be stuck.

The mechatronic unit had already had to been replaced previously when the 2nd issue happened i was at the stoplight in the car lostall movement power the ac and all the instruments were also working door locks windows everything i got ittowed to the dealership and they say it was the electric motorquoted me nearly $12000

My car stalled on me 4 times between may 2018- december 2019. When the car stalls, the steering wheel locks and it feels like the entire car ceases to have power. 3 out of 4 times the car was in motion. 1 out of 4 times another car was hit due to the stall. In another 1 out of 4 times, there was almost a life threatening accident as the car was in motion, the steering wheel locked and i ended up on the opposite side of the road of traffic. Transportation canada has been notified of the safety concerns (i am located in toronto, on, canada and all incidents occurred in toronto). Volkswagen cannot determine the cause and have not provided a solution or a normal course of action to this safety concern. I am pregnant now and even more concerned. My car was bought brand new from the dealership in 2013 and has only been serviced at volkswagen - it is in very good condition besides this reoccurring safety issue.

My car while on the busy interstate suddenly lost power. It was running but pushing the gas pedal did nothing. I was able to get it to the shoulder. I shut the car off, waited 5 min,& turned it back on. The epc light was on.i was able to then maneuver slowly to a nearby truck stop to call for a tow.the car surged the whole time. 1 week later the vw dealership says engine electrical harness failure & that it will cost me $1200. Of course it's out of warranty & no recalls.this is dangerous & costly.

My vehicle when entering traffic has a delay of 1-2 seconds when trying to accelerate from a stop.when i am trying to get on/off a highway and that delay happens, the traffic has to slow to keep from hitting me as by the time it happens then surges, it is too late to stop.my speed needle was so inaccurate and bounced so much i got a speeding ticket.it was 14 mph off.they replaced the cluster, but now both the tachometer and speedometer bounce enough to not be sure your speed.electronic fan stayed on for the entire 90 minutes i was in a coffee shop after driving only 5 miles and had been running ac.ac when not on full fan will have periods of hot and humid like the system temporarily shuts down, and of course, the car hops and surges at slow speeds in addition as you are decelerating with the foot off the accelerator, it will jerk you down as it shifts down.

The wiper motor and the fluid washer pump are ill engineered and have a tendency to burn out very quickly.both the wiper motor and fluid washer pump on my jetta have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $1,000.this is not acceptable in a car that is less than 4 years old, and under 58,000 miles.either the design of the systems is poor, or vw is using inferior parts that quickly are obsolete.it is not safe to have cars that wiper motors burn out that quickly (and without notice) and it is also not safe to have fluid pumps that wear out that quickly.it affects visibility and driving safety.

Key gets stuck at times and cannot turn the car off. The steerlock keeps the key from operating. This happens when the car is stationary.there is no way to stopthe motor when this happens. This was repaired on 5/16/2016 with part #5c6-905-841

Cannot turn on my car. The ignition switch will not torment

Passenger isnt detected, airbags wont deploy on that side. Car randomly wont detect a passenger in the seat, and will deactive the airbags.

Key gets stuck in the ignition, won't turn off unless i pull the fuel pump fuse to kill the engine. It's the second time it happens and unreal how much we gotta pay to replace it not mentioning the reprogram keys, i've read the same thing from so many people having the same issue. Maybe it should considered a recall.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving approximately 45 mph, the horn failed to sound. The failure occurred intermittently and became permanent over a period of time. The failure was not related to the fuse box. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Ignition switch gets stuck both when starting and while stopping, had to let my car run for hours before i had to wiggle out the key, dont think this will work for long.

My jetta se 2013 keeps stalling while driving. It happened since i bought it and took it to the dealership a couple of times, and nothing wrong was found. It has happened a few times during the highway and almost have been in a couple of deadly accidents. This has also happened while driving in regular streets at about 30-40mph.i have been reading that this is a common issue, but so far vw has not done anything about it. Also, both headlights are not working anymore. It seems might be an issue with some sensors, but nothing that they have been able to identify.

On december 8, 2016 we purchased a 2013 vw jetta hybrid with extended warranty. Within 3 months it was losing power, jumpy and not driving correctly.this was for my 16 year old son.it would lose complete power on the street.not ideal for a brand new driver.towed it to dealer, told needed new transmission. Four weeks later we finally got car back.still noticed a jumpy feeling when driving but assumed dealer fixed correctly.in november 2017 same thing happened, loss of power, jumpy, not safe at all.towed in to dealer again and they said vehicle needed repairs of 12k and not covered by warranty. I could not pay that nor could i not understand why it wasn't covered??? dealer said car was undriveable and they gave us 500.00.i still owe 11k on the loan.please help, i am just sick about the way i was treated and the debt i incurred for no reason.i really feel like this was a lemon.

While driving through high wind, the driver side mirror plastic protector fell off. The ac unit needed complete replacement costing 1600 and now the ideal while turning on car is very high. Sound almost like it did when i had to take it in for the electrical recall in the last years. Doors are squeak when opening and closing. And while driving a noise that sound like chains rattles through out the car which is a very irritating sound.

Less than 30000 miles replaced transmission, airbag light stay on ,no horn,no steering wheel controls.same thing recalled for jetta, but not jetta hybirds..

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While stopped at a gas station, the rear axle dislocated from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was serviced under nhtsa campaign number:14v656000 (suspension). In addition, the technician informed that the rear passenger wheel wiring harness, speed sensor, the abs traction control, and the srs warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,800.

It has always been hard to cut the car off. But i assumed it was the key . This weekend after getting my oil changed we could not get the key out the ignition.the ignitiojswitch wouldn'tcut off. It took over an hour to get the key out.this was the first time the key has ever got stuck like that. And since then it has stalled 3 more times. It does require a lot of pressure or shaking of the key in the switch for the ignition to finally cut off.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the key failed to release from the ignition switch. The contact called volkswagen of panama city (located at 3605 e 15th st, panama city, fl 32404, (850) 763-5495) and informed them of the failure. The contact discovered that the vin was associated with nhtsa campaign number: 19v615000 (electrical system, steering). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The part was not available for the repair. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

Door locks goes by itself to open and close several times during driving and idle at stop! sometimes won't lock drivers door even pushing lock button

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine." when car is parked anywherekey usually won't turn to start car, eventually does, but sometimes the key will not turn to shut the car off, so it stays running till the key decides it wants to come out or run out of gas after saving for years, bought this car for our daughter, afraid to drive anywhere.may get stuck somewhere where key will not turn to start car.if a car does not turn off or start, this is a safety concern.i have only had the car less than 2 weeks and notice it is getting harder and harder to turn the key on or off.many complaints regarding the same issue, which appears to be the ignition switch lock.volkswagen should recall these cars for faulty ignition switches.thank you - [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Horn works intermittently, causing a safety issue if it is unavailable while driving.horn works 1 day (via steering wheel and alarm/lock activation), but does not the next day.this has been occurring on my vehicle for 2-3 months.

My vehicle for a few years now has stalled out on me and caused it to go in to limp mode. This is very dangerous and i see there is a recall and no fix is available but the hybrid system shuts completely down when it does this and i cannot do anything with the vehicle at that time. It will happen anywhere i am where it's a back road or on the interstate.i feel that volkswagen should take back this veh because of the faulty system. I feel volkswagen should pay my loan off so i can get in to another safer vehicle.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle spontaneously ignited into flames. The failure happened without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle had an abnormal odor prior to the fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the exterior headlights were the cause of the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine (vehicle stationary).

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine.vehicle was stopped in a parking lot.

My car was parked and i could not get the key out of the ignition. The steering column was not locked. I had to wiggle the key a bunch to get it out. Once i got the key out of the ignition it was very hot. This happened four times in one day.

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine. Stationary in park.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving 85 mph, the electrical board became inoperable and the brakes seized. All of the indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. The engine stalled and the vehicle was towed. The dealer stated that the safety pin that was connected to the electrical board was not fully engaged. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. After inserting the key in the ignition switch, the key was stuck and failed to exit the switch. The vehicle was taken to brandon volkswagen (9816 e adamo dr, tampa, fl 33619) where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Ignition switch malfunction. Vehicle won't turn off, key cannot be removed.

The ignition suddenly stopped working and key will not shut or come out of the ignition. I had to disconnect the battery & pull the fuse for the fuel in order to shut the car off. Volkswagen refused to cover the repair and i had to pay close to $500 to have the dealer replace the lock cylinder. The mechanics at vw told me this is a reoccurring that they have seen many times.

Key stuck in ignition! the key keeps getting stuck in on position in the ignition switch after coming to a stop. An excessive amount of wiggling, turning, pulling or jerking will eventually move the key to the off position. Sometimes it take up to 20 minutes by a strong person to accomplish this task. Although this car is out of warranty however this is a known issue and vw is aware of this issue. However vw usa has refused to recall nor pay towards the repair cost which has been quoted at $800 by the dealership.

Key will not come out of the ignition, had to pull the fuse for the fuel pump and disconnect the battery for car to shut off. Dealer states need to replace lock cylinder and steering lock. Cost of repair $500.00

My vehicle has been shutting off by itself. It first started while stopped at traffic lights, now it shuts off while i am driving.

Can not remove key from ignition. Extremely difficult.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated after numerous attempts, the ignition switch was able to release. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the ignition switch cylinder was cleaned and lubricated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,500.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While the vehicle was stationary, the ignition key became stuck in the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be turned off and was stuck in the run position on more than one occasion. The vehicle was taken to southport volkswagen of baton rouge louisiana (located at 13940 airline highway, 70817) to be diagnosed. In the past, the contact was instructed by the dealer to snap the key back and forth in order to turn off the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 34,000.

Sationary vehicle off, trying to turn it on the ignition sticks making it hard to turn back on.

The key is stuck in the ignition cylinder with the car on and cannot be turned to the off position.

In the middle of driving on the highway, the car spontaneously shut down electrically, as if a fuse shorted, almost all dashboard lights turned on, the steering wheel locked up, and the brakes went unresponsive, nearly causing a collision. Once the car came to a complete stop, it was turned off in an attempt to regain control. After turning the car back on, the same dashboard lights remained illuminated, and the car wouldn't go more than 40mph, creating another accident risk during the remainder of the drive home.

The problem started at around 60,000 miles were the car would not start unless you jiggled the key around a lot and progressively got worse we're when the car was running the key would be stuck and you would have to continuously jiggle the key around to get the car to turn off. Then as it got worse, when you could get the car to cut off the key would not come out of the ignition. I am at the point now that the key will not turn at all to cut the car on. Luckily the key is not stuck in the ignition. I am having to replace the ignition which will cost in best case scenario around 675. In the event the keys have to be reprogrammed it will cost a total of 850. These are estimates from what the dealership has quoted in parts and labor, the ignition is currently being replaced and i have not received a total. Seems like this is a common problem and should be fixed by volkswagen. Replacing lock cylinder and ignition switch.

While car is in park, key will get stuck in ignition while attempting to turn car off.unable to turn key to the off position.

The vehicle stalls intermittently, losing power to the engine. At first, it began to happen monthly (50,000 miles) only while the vehicle was stationary (at stop lights or idling in the driveway). The engine would lose power and the battery light would come on, and the vehicle could be started again immediately. The vehicle also exhibited lurching acceleration at low gears. It would not trigger any codes (for either issue), and multiple vw dealerships were unable to replicate and diagnose the problem. The stalling then occurred while driving (70,000 miles), causing the steering to lock up. This occurred while on a freeway at 70 mph; the vehicle had to be pushed off the freeway by an officer and then towed. Still, the vehicle did not produce any codes. After over 1 month at the dealership service center and replacement of 4 different wires that appeared corroded, and the transmission valve body, the same issues persisted. The stalling began to happen more frequently, both while stationary and while driving, and began to trigger the epc light (80,000 miles). By this time it was clearly unsafe to drive. Not willing to rent a car for an unknown duration for the service center to attempt to replicate and diagnose the issue, i was forced to purchase a new vehicle.

The blue tooth system in all of the 2013 and 2014 jetta wagons in defective. Volkswagen knows the system is defective, the dealers know it is defective, but they continue to market and sell cars with no proposed fix to the system. I have been told that all of the 2013 and 2014 jetta wagons have this problem but i only state that mine has had blue tooth problems from day one, calls dropped, unintelligible calls, did not dial, etc. I believe both volkswagen and the dealers have conspired to continue to market the cars and just tell the public that they are working on a fix when in fact they are not. At least that is what i have been told. This is a very serious safety issue in any state where cell phones are prohibited from being used, like utah. I believe that all of the jetta wagons should be recalled, all sales of new wagons stopped, and that both the dealers and volkswagen should be fined for knowingly marketing and selling a defective car.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the on position, the vehicle failed to start. When the ignition was turned to the off position and back to the on position, the engine started and stalled. The engine restarted after 20 minutes. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was moisture in the inner cooling system and it needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred six months later. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,796.

Clock spring broke when turning wheel 1.5 revolutions while backing the car into a parking spot.

While driving my 2013 volkswagen jetta gli, a part fell down by my feet hitting my foot.once parked, the part numbered 1k0953527d was found on the drivers side floor mat.i called my local dealership where i had bought the car (new) and sent them a picture of the part.they said they believed it controlled the column lock while in park, however my wheel still locked in park with the part not in place.the next day, while driving in an alley, my bumped my key chain while scooting forward in my seat and my car turn off, not allowing me to turn it back on until it finally came to a stop and i was able to put it in park.the service team had their most experienced team member on hand open the steering column and said that the part must have fell out; for reasons not known.they also said there was no indication of tampering.

Transmission replaced, steering wheel control not working, module failed

When inserting key and turning to start ignition, the key has to be wiggled a little bit to get it to turn. Also, when turning ignition off it is even harder to turn off, you have really wiggle and twist to the point where you're almost forcing it to turn off. The height adjustment of the steering wheel affects how hard it is to turn on and off. I always have the car parked when turning on and off the ignition. It's been doing this for the last year about but has become more often this happens in the last month.

Ignition is hard to turn. The key wiil not turn off the engine. The only way to get the ignition to turn off is to physically/aggressivley snap, flick, or jiggle it to turn off the engine. The engine is in park when the incidents occur. During a google search, there are numerous complaints of this occuring. There is a current recall of the microswitch causing ignition issues, yet ignition cylinder is not included.

When i try to turn off my car the key gets stuck in the ignition switch.this has been happening for months. As many people that ice seen with this issue this needs to be a recall or buy baking the vehicles.

I went through some water (not much) andthen when i came to a stop light i stopped the car. After less than a minute of being stopped the car stalled and the battery light came on. The battery is new and i just purchased this car in december 2013 and it is a year model 2013. I have never had any issues until now. I went to turn a corner and the light came back on, car stalled, and steering became very tight. I am not sure what this issue is, but the car is only about a year old (if even that). Very frustrating.

August 30, 2014this 2013 vw jetta 2.5se has had an intermittent problem with turning the car off and removing the key from the ignition since about 10,000 miles. Today it went from an infrequent problem that was hard to duplicate to a full-blown problem. It will no longer work at all and is now non-functional.it is not the steering wheel locking mechanism that causes this.prior to today, the key would randomly not turn to shut off the car or turn to start.a slight push in and jiggle of the key would solve the issue.i only have a house key and a small vw key fob, nothing heavy hanging on it that would have caused any damage or wear to the cylinder.today, the car would not shut off at all.twisting, pulling, pushing, and any jiggling would not turn the ignition into the off position for engine shut off and key removal. Fortunately, my vehicle is a manual shift and i was able to shut the engine off by dumping the clutch.the electrical system was still on due to the key being in the on-position.i had to remove the battery cable from the terminal to shut the electrical system off and not drain the battery. Multiple tries by various people will not resolve the issue. The dealerships are all closed now, until after labor day, and we cannot get the car serviced until after that.i will be making an appointment for a warranty repair but being ignition cylinder issue, i felt it should be reported.

Overused of soy wiring has caused hundreds of needless dollars of repair work. Wiring is being chewed about by rodents since rodents like soy products.

The door locks will not lock properly, all they do is click trying to lock as i drive - from time to time, if they do lock - i can't unlock the driver side door from inside the car, and have to crawl out the passenger side. This is a major safety concern in the event i need to exit the car in an emergency. I had the same issue on a 2009 jetta - and i if you look on the internet - there are many others with the same issue. I feel it's a design flaw from vw - and it's quite obvious it's been going on for quite some time now - and i'm sure vw knows about it, but has failed to fix the issue. I feel the only way vw will fix the issue is if the ntsb forces them to do a recall - please help us ? also, i'm not able to lock the doors manually either inside or outside the car. Thank you,

Ignition key will not turn car off. Only way to shut it off with force applied to the key...went to dealer thought it was the key , but other key did same thing.ignition switch may be faulty.

A year ago the vehicle would not accelerate while driving and would then come to a stop. It was taken to the dealership where they said it was a wiring issue.in the past year the vehicle will turn off when sitting in traffic or at a light.car will not detect key fob even when new batteries have been used. The doors do not lock when i drive the car and it does not lock with the key remote control.i have been investigated the problem that this car has to secure the doors, and apparently it is very common in these vw cars, although the problem not about security, i do believe that it is, because one believes that it lock all the doors and it is notso, that's why you think it should be repaired by you

Ignition switch malfunction.will not turn and leaves vehicle running, key is unable to be removed.vw knows about this issue and fails to issue a recall.i brought this matter to their attention and they will not fix the issue nor reimburse consumer.vw has not informed me of a recall or warrant on part nor has the dealership, although customer service states they mailed a notice to owners.

The horn stopped working 1 week ago. I am also replacing bulbs every 2 months.i can't use my horn and the dealer is charging me a crazy fee to fix this. I am not the only one that's going through this

There was a recall issues in dec 2019 for replacement of a hose and/or mechatronic unit. There is no remedy. My car's electric motor stopped working. When clearing the error codes, my car does not work at all. When calling vw, advised that i can put in a new transmission and it will work. When i asked why that isn't the fix to their recall, they said they don't know yet. They advised that if i put in my own transmission and they determine a different part is needed anywhere in the process, they will not be able to compensate me for the recall. The car has been sitting at different shops trying to figure out a fix since july and has been undriveable since aug 17.

Key gets stuck in ignition. Can't turn off engine.also, often difficult to turn key from 'off' to 'on' position; key gets stuck in 'off' position.

Twice stalled at a traffic light, currently has engine malfunction code p2015 for intake flap valve failure. Vw states it is a known problem for the ccta engine code for 2011-2012 vw 2.0t tsi engines. However since it wasn't extended to my vehicle even though they are the same they will not honor the extended warranty because nhtsa didn't identify my vehicle year yet.

Takata recall"after i got my last recall fixed that day when i got into my car my locks in my car started to lock by them selvescontinuously . When i got back to work i called them and they had me go back to the vwdealership where they looked at it wasn't for sure why this was happening and tell me to bring it back at a later date so they can look at it . Itit stop doing it again for a while until it got raining andhumid . It seems like it gets this way when it's rainy and humid! the door locks continue to click as if i'm pressing them myself to unlock/lock the doors . I read one of the recalls on the airbag electrical recall and was wondering if was tied into that?

Key gets stuck in ignition and won't turn off. Vw dealership is aware of issue say oo by it is a common problem. Ignition cylender was replaced once already at 32,000 miles. Now the same issue is back at 70,000 miles on the replacement part.

Simultaneously both read doors would either not lock or not unlock due to faults vag03302, vag03303 and vag 03304. Doors would remain unlocked which is a security item or if doors did lock, it was never clear if i could open them from the inside or the outside. This is not only a security item but a major safety issue that vw generously charged me over $1100.00 to repair on my own.it is very odd that this occurred with two doors that are seldom used and vw did not have a concern as there was not a recall for the problem.this is a safety and security item that should be looked into at a higher level

When driving up a steep, snowy hill with studded snow tires, the electronic stability control function improperly regulated the wheel control and speed.i was unable to drive up the hill as a result of my tires continuously locking up, disabling any forward motion. When this esc control prevented me from driving up the hill, i was forced to retreat from my destination, driving in, what i considered to be, more hazardous conditions.several vehicles with two-wheel drive were able to surmount this hill. This has happened several times over the life of my car. Please note, this report is for a 2013 jetta tdi sedan, which does not have a esc button for optional esc use.all other jetta models include an esc button to give the driver an option to disable the esc controls during hazardous conditions. This is not an option for the 2013 jetta tdi sedan. When i queried the manufacturer, they informed me that installing an esc optional button was not allowed in this make and model of car.

The tensioner in my vehicle failed causing the timing chain to jump teeth which sent the pistons crashing into the valves and caused catastrophic engine damage resulting in me needing an entire new engine according to the row ford auburn maine dealership and vw of america. There is a class action lawsuit going on right now involving this defective tensioner.also my vehicle is only 1230 miles over the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty which would replace the engine and fall however i'm not receiving any help with this and i feel that the dealership and vw should take care of this info since they've known of this problem for years but never issued a recall .

Car suddenly stops while driving. Steering wheel locks goes into "limp mode". Will start back up fine. This is a know issue with volkswagen.

We purchased our 2013 jetta in november 2016 from casey chevrolet, a "certified used vehicle" dealership in our area.a couple months after the purchase, we were having trouble with the car stalling as well as transmission troubles.the vehicle has stalled on my pregnant wife and 2 year old at least four times.once she was at a stop light and it completely shut down, the next she was in a fast food drive-through line, the third time she was trying to maneuver a turn, and the final time she was backing out of the babysitters drive way.with respect to the transmission, there have been many instances where either she or i would be attempting to merge or just need to pick up speed and in between shifts the car would hesitate and then shift very aggressively.we have contacted the dealership multiple times and each time we take it in they can't find a problem so they give us the car back.on the other hand, they have "solved" the transmission problem twice only for it to reappear at a later time.they have refused to replace the vehicle or refund us the purchase price.we have also contacted volkswagen who likewise refuses to refund or replace their product.right now the car is parked in our driveway because we do not feel it is safe to drive.my wife is now driving my truck and i am in my older car from college.all the while, payments still have to be made which is very frustrating.i feel that two companies i thought were trustworthy have taken advantage of my family and i.

Wheels were locked, as if it was stuck in gear. Vehicle skid slightly into intersection on wet pavement. Vehicle was still in drive when car stalled. Vehicle was shifted into park and restarted. No warning lights came on after or before to indicate engine problems. Vehicle was taken to vw dealership for inspection.

A failed tensioner causing the timing chain to snap and bend the valves.

In motion in drive then would not shift into gear or move.i was on a busy street with cars all around me.it is exactly as described in nhtsa recall 19v866

There have been many issues with this model but the one i am having more issues with, are the head lamps and/or fuses. In october of 2014, my left side low beam stopped working, i bought 2 bulbs so it could be replaced and then it wasn't the bulb, it was a fuse. In january 2015, the left side bulb stopped working again, i took it to the dealer because i couldn't find any fuse that was blown on my own, this time it was the bulb. Now it is the right side low beam that isn't working. I am not sure what is going on but i have another car that is 20 years old and i have replaced the bulbs only 1 time. When i first bought this car in june of 2013, i had it less than one month and while going across a rail road crossing, the car shut off completely. After tests, they said that it showed nothing and then it happened again and still nothing was found. The seat belt sign comes on for the right front seat because of a sensor when no one is in it. The trunk has a delay on it and takes a while to open. The gas mileage is not at all what it claims either. I get at the most 32-34 mpg and 99% of my driving is on the interstate. I didn't get any extended coverage on it because everyone says that they are great cars, well unless something is done to fix the issues that they have, they will never get another buy from me or the hundreds of people i know and all the ones that read the reviews.

Time chaining belt loose and needs to be replaced and only has 66,000 miles. Recall lawsuit acts have been taking place and i believe my cars timing chain needs to be recalled

My car was started in the morning to go to work and it made a loud noise. The engine was immediately shut down and towed to the dealer. The dealer read a p00166 code and tore down the top end of the motor. The dealer identified a failed timing chain tensioner which caused the chain to slip and cause irreparable damage to the head. I was quoted $6,200 for repair of a known faulty part that was supposed to last the life of engine and i was not notified about.

Under warranty and recall the speed crank(crank sensor) was replaced . And year later after warranty expire speed crank (sensory crank ) needed to be replaced.overall the ac compressor was replaced, the mirror back needed to be replaced exterior, the door needed to be tightened, lock sensor needed to be replaced, key ignition needed to be replaced, and now where the crank is an oil leak has happened. The main rear seal needs to be replaced. Over all repairs have been costly every year around a thousand or more since boughten.

Engine starts and drives for a bit then car randomly shuts off loosing engine power i have to throw it into neutral or it trys to stop and looses power steering making it difficult to turn off the road safely. Happens going slow, turning, on the highway all the time just randomly with no engine codes.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While the vehicle was stationary, the engine coolant indicator illuminated. Ralph thayer volkswagen in livonia, michigan was made aware of the failure and stated that the water pump needed replacement, along with a coolant flush. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,719.

I was driving as normal when the glow plug light began flashing, along with the check engine light and i lost all power.thankfully i was on a residential street, and was able to safely pull over and have the vehicle towed to the dealer. Diagnosis was complete fuel system failure caused by high pressure fuel pump destructing itself and sending metal shards into the system. Initially dealer suspected contaminated diesel. Upon analysis of fuel dealer confirmed that only diesel was present in the system and the damage was caused by a faulty high pressure fuel pump. As a result of this all fuel system parts are having to be replaced including injectors, hpfp, lift pump, fuel lines etc etc. Vw is covering repairs under warranty as they should, but clearly the ongoing issue of hpfp failures in vw tdis has not yet been fully resolved.

The check engine light came on at the same time that the car began to slip or hesitate especially in low gears or when accelerating. Our 18 year old daughter was driving to work when the vehicle went from operational to this condition.shortly after, the epc indicator came on and the car slipping became more of a jolt, car unable to accelerate and it felt very much like it would stall.we were able to safety get it to the dealer for service where we were provided with a 30,000 mile check up (car has 24k miles) and were told it was just an electrical issue, needed a reset.engine light came back on as i left the dealership, with the same jolting and hesitation. Upon second visit to the service department, i was informed that the there was a crack in the ignition coil, causing misfire of the spark plugs.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that when making a left turn at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart and functioned as normal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500.

2013 vw jetta, 2.5 engine, at, approx 16,900 miles.on may 8, 2018,during a right hand turn, the vehicle stopped running in the middle of a busy intersection near oakwood hills shopping mall, eau claire wi. The loss of engine power caused loss of power steering.the vehicle was stranded in intersection. Aaa was called.vehicle was able to be re-started and cleared from intersection before aaa arrived.it was driven home.on may 9, 2018, the vehicle bucked and lost power during a right hand turn at mall drive and highway 93 eau claire.wi.dtc's checked with none found.i suspect a bad relay or ignition switch.

I was driving the car approximately 40 miles per hour on a straight road, when all of the sudden the engine lost power and i started coasting in the middle of traffic. I would press the gas and the engine would rev, but no power would be delivered. It was unlike anything i've experienced before with the car.it was like i was in a false neutral, the rpms would increase but the car would not accelerate when i was pressing the gas pedal. Since the car would not regain power, i was forced to coast to a halt in traffic. When i tried to remove my key to power down the car, it would not let me take the key out of the transmission. It was as if the car thought that the transmission was not yet in park even though it was. After a few seconds i was able to remove my key, when i turned the car back on, the problem seemed to go away.

I purchased my 2013 jetta on end june 2017 for 47 k miles from hayward certified used vehicle dealership in california.couple months after the purchase, my car start to show problems with car stalling. It has been four time in less than one month time where the carcompletely shut down while driving for no reason. . the first time i was driving on the frontage of i-35 south, on 50 mph, it shut down out of blue, i was luckily enough to be able to pull over and park on the grass, i had to turn the car off and retry the car again and it worked fine. The second time i was driving on the west william cannon dr on way to home, it shut down for no reason again on 45 mph, again i was capable to pull over, shut down and restart again, did not work for 10 minutes then i tried again then it worked.third time i was on way to my friend home, at the stoplight i was planning on take a left turn on my way to little texas lane, and it shut down for no reason, i had to react fast and hoping that it would start again in order to not cause traffic, it worked fine again. The fourth time i was driving 70 mph on highway of i35 south, it suddenly shut down again and i had to be very careful to slowly pull over to the side with no power in the engine and luckily there was not much of cars at that time. I was very lucky, because i could easily being in an accident. I have contacted the dealership in austin where i was located at that time, they could not find anything. It is frustrated because i do not know what to do and i need to return to california and i do not feel safe driving with this car at all because of my safety.

Key gets stuck in the ignition and won't turn off car.

The mechatronic unit had already had to been replaced previously when the 2nd issue happened i was at the stoplight in the car lostall movement power the ac and all the instruments were also working door locks windows everything i got ittowed to the dealership and they say it was the electric motorquoted me nearly $12000

Engine check warning did not come on. I brought the car in for annual service and am informed a throttle and gasket are bad. No engine warning notice but they found it in the code. Car is at dealer. I'm concerned how long this has been a problem and if it caused any other issues. Why would the check engine light not be activated for this? if not brining it in for annual, i wouldn't have known until the engine failed

The timing chain needs to be replaced. The repair will cost more than the car is worth. The is a lawsuit for this issue going on now. However, my vin number is supposedly not part of it.i do no see why i have to pay for what is a clear manufacturing issue for the make model and year of this car?

It has been over a year that my volkswagen jetta hybrid is undriveable. The transmission has hairline cracks and there is no fix yet. I think this happened a few years ago to, when i was forced to pay over $6000 for a new engine. I was told my car was not part of the recall. I took the care to get serviced a year ago. The dealer couldn't get the car started and after three weeks, they did, but when i drove it, the car could not excellerate

Timming chain stretched and tensioner failed at 71k miles, although maintenance is set as lifetime or 120k miles

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While approaching a red light, the vehicle stalled and the check engine and glow plug warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to volkswagen of ocala (5135 sw college road, ocala, fl 34474) where it was diagnosed that the high pressure fuel pump failed and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 34,890.

Car jerks when accelerating, while driving on the highway car turned off and had to be towed to volkswagen dealership. After diagnostic volkswagen said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. This is the second incident involving the car jerking and turning off, both times volkswagen was unable to find any issues with the vehicle. I feel this is a safety concern with my wife and kids using this vehicle as a daily driver.

Gears not shifting correctly, loses power to where i have to pull over because i can't accelerate. That is extremely dangerous especially if i am not able to get to a spot to pull over to. 01/ i have had diagnostics performed which they all come to the same conclusion that is needs a new transmission. These are the codes it is putting out:p073a stuck in gear 5, p1731 gears position distance sensor 3:electronic error, p1731c gear position distance sensor 3:implausible signal and p072b stuck in reverse. It has been doing this since the car was purchased in jan of 2020.there have been recalls on 2013-2014 jetta hybrids for these same problems but my vin number is not included in the recalls

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving approximately 20 mph uphill, the vehicle started to jerk and did not respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle failed to make it up the hill and the contact had to shift into reverse and reverse back down the hill. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. Upon parking and exiting the vehicle, a reddish fluid was seen leaking from the engine compartment onto the ground. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

Replaced variable valve timing solenoid. Fells like engine wants to shut off idles ruff. After replacement having same issue with car. No check engine light came on.

2013 vw jetta hybrid has check engine light come on and go off intermittently. Car was taken into vw dealer to evaluate. Dealer proceeds to say transmission is defective, clutch was malfunction & oil was leaking. According to a new recall in 2/2020, vw mentioned that if the software recall was not addressed issues with the transmission & clutch could occur. When car was taken and evaluated it was found to have all of the possible problems listed with this recall

The engine will shut off when car is in traffic or coming to stop. Engine rpm will go to zero and power steering and power braking is lost.

Intake manifold limited warranty extension number vwp-20-03. This warranty extension isfor certain 2015 model year volkswagen tiguan, cc andeos with engine codes cbfa and ccta. I have a 2013 vw jetta gli with an engine code of ccta that is experiencing the same manifold failures as the above mentioned bulletin. I have called vw and they state my car would not be included in this extended warranty.after doing much research on the vw forum, this is a common problem for several year, makes and models concerning the faulty intake manifold runner flap that plagues so many thousands of gen1 2.0t tsi engines. The linkage within the intake manifold runner flap that connects to the vacuum actuated arm can break at it's drive hex, and allows the lever arm to "pop" out of the intake manifold, sometimes creating a massive air leak while becoming disconnected from the drive hex. By simply pushing the lever arm back into the intake manifold, the drive hex reconnects to the linkage and will operate the tumble flaps but it will continue to blow open again once under boost, creating a massive air leak.this failure event is so common that aftermarket parts manufacturers have designed a fix/prevention kit to the common faulty intake manifold runner flap linkage. Previously the only repair was to replace the entire intake manifold, costing hundreds in parts and labor.vw needs to perform further containment actions that identifies other models and years that are affected by the factory installed faulty manifold and they should be held responsible to bear the burden of the costs associated with this common issue by way of extending the manifold warranty to other makes such as golf (v, vi), jetta (v, vi,) and passat b6.follow link to aftermarket fix and description: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts/vw-audi-p2015-20t-tsi-intake-manifold-lever-arm-fix-kit/021071ecs01~a/

Twice while driving the vehicle would not shift then stall.once it also started to shake, won't go over 30 mph. Its exactly as what is described in recall 19v866, however my vin doesn't seem to qualify for this recall.quote is over 5k - when my vehicle diagnostic ran, there are 3 recalls showing, however when i put my vin in, it shows 0. There's also a new recall for this exact issue - but haven't heard anything regarding my specific vin

I went to dealer to have my oil change.i did complain strange noise from my engine and i mentioned my engine is 2.0 tsi.it may has a recall on timing chain extensioner.they check the vin and said my car has no recall at all.they refuse to put that note on my registation.i can hear the chain noise when i speed up to 30 mile.also sometime i start the car, the banging strange noise come out.

Went to start the vehicle last week, it started, rpms jumped between 3-4, then the engine died. Had it towed to a mechanic, where he stated the tensioner with the timing chain caused major damage with the engine and the engine needs to be replaced. I've read there was a class action lawsuit over this specific issue, but the timeframe has passed. My check engine light never came on and i never received anything in the mail stating there was an issue with this. If i had, i would of taken it to have it looked at. I would like volkswagen to replace my engine, free of cost, or take the vehicle back.

Faulty engine coil

We were traveling in center lane on i-75 in fl doing 70 mph. Dash light indicator showed double circle error light. Engine quit and car lost all power. Coasted to breakdown lane.

My car displays no problems on the dash, there are no lights on but when i am driving the car stalls and sometimes just shuts off locking my brakes and steering.usually happens when the car is going under 20mph. After it shuts of i have to put it in park to restart and it restarts without a problem.

Based upon my own personal experience and other owners comments found on the the web, there appears to be an issue with various exhaust leaks on late model jetta tdi's which allows dangerous diesel sulfur fumes to enter the cabin.

I was driving the car today and it began to jerk all of a sudden. Then the engine light flashed on and off. This is very concerning to me because i don't know if this is serious. And if this is covered under warranty.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and the failure recurred two more times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14e007000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 45,600.

Transmission started lagging in my manual 2013 vw jetta s when accelerating after switching into second gear from first gear. After a couple of days the engine seized up and all of the lights came on. Luckily, was just on my way to the dealership for repair and was right around the corner. First repair was 11/2/2013. This happened again 5 days later on 11/7/2013. Got it fixed, started driving home and the problem kicked in again. Had to bring it in on 11/8/2013 for the same repair in less than 12 hours (3rd time in less than a week). The ignition coil was misfiring and the spark plugs kept needing to be replaced. All was well in good until august 26, 2014 when the same problem happened. A week later, the problem came back but now it's more on and off. Will be taking it in again for the same issue for the 5th time now.

My car is a vw jetta tdi 2013, 95,000 miles, not even 3 years old, got it brand new. I started to drive away after doing some shopping. As i was leaving the parking lot, the car stalled. The check engine light came up and so did the glow plug light. The car did not start again after several attempts. I had it towed to the shop. The day after, i was told that the fuel pump had disintegrated due to the internal heat. When doing so, all the debris went inside the fuel system and engine. In order to repair it, the vw car dealer said they had to open all the system and flush it to clean everything and they would charge several thousand dollars to fix that. Although i was not happy with their diagnostic and price, i had to do it. I need the car to get around to go to work. I told the car dealer that this incident was not normal. They said that they did not know what caused it. I have done all the service and maintenance as suggested by the manufacturer. On the other side, it just happened that last week, vw issued an extended warranty for up to 120,000 miles for the fuel pump for diesel cars years 2011 and 2012. I calledthem and they said that they could not cover the 2013. Obviously, they know something was wrong with those previous models. I think they should include this problem and extend the fuel pump warranty for this car as well and -in this case, cover for the thousands of dollars that this is going to cost me for having a "faulty pump".updated 11/12/15updated 11/06/2017

Upon take off the car jerks, and u drive the car on interstate under cruise control the car jerks multiple times, the 1st incident and then here recently, driving down the interstate at normal rate of speed car jerks without warning and giving gas at passing a vehicle on interstate it will jerk and act like it will not go will jerk and jerk like it is not getting gas and i had a full tank so i have took the car in number of times and says can't find problem and the representative will drive the car and never happens with them i am about ready to give car back this issue has been going on too long, the car does this with no warning and it will scare u it jerks so hard i have by now got used to this but i am sick of it and needs to be resolved i owned a 2011 jetta with no problems ever since i have had this one this incident has happened and nobody knows what it is!! maybe ya can help please!!i have been sitting at the dealership letting them check it out for the issue and have heard of others but no one has reported it this could become a issue if the car does not go upon acceleration could cause an accident or death!!

A year ago the vehicle would not accelerate while driving and would then come to a stop. It was taken to the dealership where they said it was a wiring issue.in the past year the vehicle will turn off when sitting in traffic or at a light.car will not detect key fob even when new batteries have been used. Car will say no key.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, approaching a stop sign with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. The vehicle was restarted but failed to move. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to work on the model of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

1/7/2016.clear morning,25 degrees out, started vehicle, warmed up for 20 minutes before getting ready to leave.drove car to end of street when car engine started to sound like it was out of oil and it stalled.brought to local vw dealer, was told that intercooler cracked from ice build up and that one glow plug was damaged as a chunk of ice entered one engine cylinder.was quoted $1200 dollar repair not covered by vw even though a tsb has been in effect with an improved intercooler replacment. This has been a problem with vw since their 2009 model year.my family also owns another 2013 vw with only 26,000 miles and it has experienced similar symptoms described by hundreds of complaints on vw forums of not starting or stalling when put in gear or at a stop light, possible indications of icing in the intercooler system. Was told from the dealer the only way the intercooler gets replaced under warranty is after it freezes and engine damage occurs and only if it occurs before 36,000 miles. I have read where engine damage from ice build up in the turbo intercooler system has cost owners over $6000 in repairs ifoccurs after the warranty expires.that means vw owners pay roughly 25% of the msrp of the vehicle if the intercooler ices up significantly, which the manufacturer admits could result from normal operation.reading numerous complaints of engines known to hydro-lock at freeway speeds whereby driver lose the ability to safely operate the vehicle is a hazard that endangers anyone near this vehicle when an ice chunk stops the engine abruptly. Since the manufacturer has developed a cold weather kit for dealers to install with specific procedures for repair it should be classified as a recall when there is no warning if and when the car might stop running which could result in death depending on when the intercooler icing occurs and the car stops moving.

My timing chain tensioner failed and bent 14 valves. All 4 cylinders had zero compression. Volkswagen represents in the warranty and maintenance schedules that the tensioning system is expected to last for about 120,000 miles without the need for repairs. In fact, according to the plaintiff, owners are provided manuals that do not show any timing chain system inspection or maintenance schedules at all.

My 2013 vw jetta hybrid has 68000 miles on it and it keeps stalling while driving. Multiple times it stopped on freeway.there is a recall from vw and reason for recall is mechatronics unit failure. The failure of mechatronics unit causes low transmission oil and clutch slippage both of which can cause damage to the vehicle transmission.vw service says there is some internal oil leak and problem is not of mechatronic unit and i have to pay for replacing transmission.iam not provided with any specific details on the transmission failure. They say, "it's an internal failure", "its unrelated to the mechatronics", and "there are cracks on transmission". They have also said that they will not repair the mechatronics unit without me replacing the transmission because the mechatronics unit would have been damaged because of damaged transmission.there are so many problems with my vw. Vw service is not giving clear picture.when there is recall and my vehicle vin shows that it has mechatronic recall why iam asked to pay for transmission? vw service is refusing to repair my vehicle for the recall mechatronic unit and they ask me to pay for replacing the transmission.

Jetta hybrid. Loss of traction while ascending steep driveway.never happened before even with another hybrid.

Engine light came on, right after car would not go into gear and car became inoperable.the consumer stated while driving the transmission failed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer advised a recall would soon be released and to wait until then for repairs. The vehicle was partially repaired. The manufacturer stated any further repairs were not included in the recall.

I was driving on the highway, ,and the glow plug light started flashing, then the engine light came on and i lost all power to the car.i was able to coast to the shoulder without being hit by another vehicle.the dealership found the intercooler and the charge air pressure sensor needed replacement because it had snow and ice on it, and shorted out the sensor which in turn fried all the wiring.i notified vw as to the problem, they told me due to outside influence they would not cover this service.it cost $1342.00 for the repair.

Car was driving on the interstate when problems began. When the gas pedal was pushed, the car's tach just revved up with no acceleration. The car began to slow down and we had to pull off the interstate. Upon exiting, the car seemed to be stuck in gear but would not accelerate. We tried switching to sport mode andmanual mode but neither made a difference. No warning lights came on. Car struggled to maintain 15mph upon exiting freeway and was limped into a parking lot. This could have caused a very serious crash as vehicle would not accelerate or change gears.

Ignition switch housing susceptible to heat and key will not turn in high temperatures. 100 part and 2.5 hours at 190/hour in labor requested by vw. Problem started around 60k and has progressively gotten worse. Part not designed to withstand normal car heat.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the battery warning light illuminated and the steering wheel seized. In addition, the vehicle stalled.the contact was able to restart the vehicle and the failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the control relay device. The failure recurred two weeks after the repairs were performed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. The vin was not available.

While i was driving, the car shut itself off. There were three separate incidents.the dealership kept the car for two weeks and re-programmed the computer after conferring with vw.

While vehicle in parking with motor on it shut off. This has happened twice. The first time was in my carport, the second time in was on the street. There was no lights on dash that would indicate something was wrong.i immediately turned it on and no futher problems at the time.

I have a vw 2013 jetta with approx 65,000 miles on the vehicle. With in the last two weeks, my vehicle's engine just stopped while driving down the freeway in phoenix, az. I am driving at the flow of traffic and when i slow down and eventually come to a stop the engine shuts off. The first two times there was no lights that turned on on the display pane. Last saturday while driving to the airport to pick up my wife again the engine shuts off as described, but this time, it appeared all the lights were on the panel.i had to put the hazard lights, put it on park to start the vehicle.i currently have the vehicle at larry millers for inspection and told them we have a safety issue with the vehicle.

Timing belt stretched out after engine only has 65,000 miles on it this could cause the engine to shut down while car is running and could potentially cause a crash and even a fatal crash.

This past may, we bought a vw jetta gli at jennings volkswagen (glenview, il) for our sons last year of college.the car looked great and he loved it.at about 1000 miles, while he was driving with his friends, the car had a sudden loss of power and a sudden engine shutdown.luckily, he was crossing a parking lot so he waited until it restarted.we made no big deal of it and took it to jennings where they did not find anything.then, just last week, at 3000 miles, the same happened while he was driving with our daughter in the car on west lake avenue.this time, we were concerned, since this happened during rush hour in a congested street. We worried now, since this was the second time this had happened. Our son drives to the city on a daily basis to attend school and he takes the highway.what if that had happened on the highway and a truck had been behind him?it could have been disastrous.we did some research and found out that there has been a fatal accident in australia with another vw, with the same type of transmission, experiencing sudden engine shutdown on the highway.there has been a recall of certain of these cars in china, japan, and australia for similar issues so we are really concerned. Our son took the car to jennings again, and was sent home with a rental car while they looked into the issue.they apparently did various driving and mechanical tests and could not reproduce the scenario, since apparently the cars computer had not registered any of the failures.the car dealership refused to buy back or replace the car.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and various warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to bay ridge volkswagen (4th ave, brooklyn, ny 11209), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 67,000.

The problem showing error code p0087, p0387 high pressure fuel pump failure, the cost of expensive to repair, difficult to meet warranty related power-train & engine. It has been twoce break down. Its third break down. It only 62k mileages on it. Vw want to working on it due of out of warranty cost. I am not happy that vw is not qualify to inspect part problem cause.i hope it is affect other customers who have simply problem with hpfp.

While drivingon highway epcand check engine lights up and the car suddenly loose powerand start jerking step on gas to speed up only engine revved up high but theres no acceleration or speed gain i was able to pull over to the side of the road safely but what if its rush hourand theres a car following behind me it sure going to slam into my car. I heard a lot of complaint similar to what i experienced. In my opinion its a manufacturers defect that should be look on and needs a thorough investigation in order to avoid accident and road mishaps.

I bought this car new in sept. 2013 for its fuel mileage, also because of the efficiency of the tdi. Now at 50,000 mis., i have a check engine light on and a code of p047f, which means i have a diesel particulate filter clogged and it has to be replaced. This is a $1000.00 part. Luckily, my car is covered by the carb warranty of ca. But this should not happen this fast. I have done all recommended services at the proper intervals with vw approved fluids and filters. Because my car was past the 3yr/36k warranty, but has a 8yr/80k powertrain warranty, i called vw to see if this is covered. The first call, they told me no. I then started checking tdi forumsfor this issue and found that it was a common problem. I then called back to "push the issue" which was when i found out that i was covered under the carb warranty.how many people call the first time and get the same answer as i did, then have to pay $1000.00 plus labor to fix this? also, what good is the tdi if it costs this much to maintain?

Dtc p2432 stored in ecm.vw issued a warranty extension for 2012 model jettasfor this issue.bothmodel years have exact same sai system and pressure sensor.vw is on its 3rd generation of pressure sensor and pipe configurations as they know they have an issue. Warranty extension should be granted for 2013 model year.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that a fuel line going over top of an electrical line or the electrical going over top of the fuel line causing the vehicle to overheat. The temperature gauge light illuminated with an audible tone. The contact coasted to the side of the road and lifted the hood. The contact stated that the coolant was bubbling and boiling in the coolant reservoir. The contact let the vehicle sit until it cooled down and added coolant into the reservoir and drove the vehicle to her son's residence. The contact called the dealer and informed them of the failure and was informed to scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,194.

Was driving when the car suddenly shut off but radio and dash lights were still on almost caused a crash finally got car stopped and started back up fine serious problem needs fixed....

This vehicle doesn't run correctly it refuses to move while in driving

While driving on hwy 94 the epc and the engine malfunction light turned on. At my 55mph, my speed decreased immediately at 20 mph. My son and i felt unsafe, as there were cars behind me driving at their proper speed limit. It was scary as these cars could of crashed into my vehicle as my gas pedal lost immediate speed.

I have a 2013 jetta sportwagen, automatic transmission.i had been driving my car for about 6 miles on a local, but busy road.i stopped at a red traffic light.while engine was idling waiting for traffic light to change, the engine stalled without warning.i was able to restart it, but then engine stalled again before traffic light turned green.when traffic light finally turned green, i was able to restart engine and drove car to safe location where i then turned engine off.when i turned engine back on, i waited, letting it idle, and it stopped again with no warning.i did not see any check engine light.i had car towed to dealer who could not find any codes and could not replicate the problem.i researched the problem on the internet and saw that in a q & a for the radio talk show cartalk, cartalk hosts recommended a new crankshaft position sensor be installed to correct this same issue, also on a jetta.dealer did this at my request, but i had to pay $400+.dealer said they would take up this issue up with the manufacturer and see if manufacturer would reimburse me.so far, they have not gotten back to me.i am driving car, but do not know if problem is resolved or will recur.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the inter cooler needed to be replaced with a revised charge air cooler kit.

This is the third time this year i have needed to replace my headlights.this time even the replacement headlights are not working.my vehicle currently has no working headlights.just the high beams, park lights, daytime running lights and turn signal lights work, but not the low beam headlights.i don't understandit and my vehicle is highly maintained and in great condition.yet, i keep suffering with the same headlight problem.i don't believe it's the bulbs and my mechanic has even told me it's a fault with the manufacturing of the vehicle.

In the past year, the headlights (not daytime running lights) have gone out intermittently on two or three occasions, one while driving and the others while starting the vehicle.so far it's just been one at a time, but it made it reasonably harder to see while driving.if both go out together, this could be bad!the vw dealer found a burnt out bulb but cannot determine any other reason after troubleshooting. They said the bulb filaments are very close and going over a bump could short it.that's bad design with safety risk involved.also, many other jetta owners complain online about the same problem.

Head lights bulbs are prematurely burning out.. Tee bulbs were replaced at the volkswagen dealership. One night while i was driving both of my headlights went out at exactly the same time and since then i have had to replace my bulbs twice and my daylight running lights.

There is excessive condensation in my passenger side headlight.this issue lowers the headlight visibility the dealer said this is normal and should be corrected after 30 minutes of the lights being on.the issue still occurs and is consistent.the issue occurs while the vehicle is stationary and in motion.

I went to leave a friends house last night. It was dark and when i turned on my headlights, the low beam would not work. I opened the owners manual to find a fuse location, and there is no diagram in there to show what fuses were which. I pulled the fuse covers on both fuse panels only to find out they are not on there either. I drove the car home with my high beams on as this was the only lights i had. I blinded everyone for the five mile trip home. How is one supposed to fix something a simple as a blown fuse, when the manufacture does not indicate locations.

Takata recall - i am just giving notice that my airbags may be faulty and may need a replacement.thank you very much

A few months ago , the driver side low beam light went off , with replacement and never turned on .today the passenger side low beam light is off and won't turn on. The high beam lights work .

I hit a tree on a city street and the airbag did not deploy that time either and i had a cut on my head i had injury to my knee and my achilles tendon both of which resulted in surgeries.i have had two other accidents since neither time neitheri have had two other accidents since and the air bags did not deploy.both of those were in parking lots. I am 84 and have fallen twice since the accident because of my injuries and sustained head trauma and memory loss. I will try to locate the accident date. It was in 2016.

Over the last 6 months as i am driving on the highway my low beam light short out at night. This has happen twice while driving. I do notice a blinking dash light prior to the head lamps go out. Thishas happen twice over the last 6 months. Vw of america say itnot a issue. Will not pay for the$ 80.00 for repair. It is not so much about the repair it is a severe safely issue . I was driving in the dark going 30 mph on a highway to get off the highway no where to stop just with daytime lights on. I could have been killed and vw is saying it not a safety issue and its not a repair that they will reimburse me for. I have been driving over 40 years. I had only had to replace headlamps maybe 4 times in my life. By the way the lights are manufactured by phillips lights in germany. Might need to revisit my car choices.

I have had to replace both low beam headlight 3 times in 6 weeks. Nothing is wrong with the wiring bulbs just keep burning out. It appears that others are having this problem also. Vw dealerships offer no solutions.

The horn stopped working 1 week ago. I am also replacing bulbs every 2 months.i can't use my horn and the dealer is charging me a crazy fee to fix this. I am not the only one that's going through this

The high pressure fuel pump broke leaving metal shaving in my fuel tank.i had this replaced at 38k miles and now it is broke again at 78k.vw extended the warranty for 2006-2012 vehicles for 10 yrs or 120k miles.but since my vehicle is a 2013 they will not covered it.i believe they are still using the same faulty fuel pump for the 2013.

On wednesday september 23rd at or around 3:40 pm, i pulled into an arco fuel station to top off my vehicle. I still had a 1/4 of a tank left but decided to fuel up anyway. The vehicle took approximately 11 us gal of no. 2 diesel fuel. After fueling my vehicle, i drove off the fuel station. Approximately 3/4 of a mile away from the fuel station, my engine stalled out and then the glow plug icon on my instrument cluster began to flash. I had my vehicle towed to the nearest vw dealership service department. The following day the service technician contacted me and informed me that my high pressure fuel pump(hpfp) had failed and that it had contaminated my entire fuel system with metal shavings. The way the technician explained what had happened to the fuel pump was, "your fuel pump grenaded", his exact words.

New 2013 jetta tdi with less than 7000 miles had a catastrophic diesel engine failure on i-5 northbound in washington state. Diesel engine light came on, cruise control failed, lost power. Luckily i was coming up on an exit and able to safely pull off. Was traveling at the speed limit rate of 70 mph. Found out from service that it was a high pressure fuel pump failure and that they were going to have to replace the entire fuel system. Could have ended up in an accident if i had not been able to pull off. Did research on the internet and found out that this is a known problem. Trying to get vw to replace the car, cannot depend on it now. There needs to be a recall on those fuel pumps! i was two hours late for a extremely important meeting in seattle that i could not be late too.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen passat. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the high pressure fuel system needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was 89,094.

The car completely lost power while in motion and i had to pull off the roadway in heavy traffic.the dealer told me that the tdi (diesel) fuel system had a complete failure and imploded into many very small metal parts.vw is replacing the entire fuel system, but not the engine.i believe metal in the fuel lines is cause for a complete engine replacement as they cannot prove the contamination was limited to the fuel lines.the car is less than 4 months old and has 5500 miles total.

Approached traffic light (which was red).when light changed, attempted to make a left turn.no power for about 3 seconds, then accelerated through the light and all was normal.now have about 1500 miles on the car and similar situations have occurred.estimated that we had about 15 repeats of this problem.dealer found no codes and could not repeat the problem.dealer said we would have to wait until a code was recorded before they could do anything.problem occurred twice with a cold engine and the rest of the time when the engine was thoroughly warmed up.feel that this is a safety problem and something must be done.we could make a left turn into approaching traffic and be stalled in the middle of the intersection..am afraid to have my wife drive the car.

My vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and subsequently stalled. Fortunately, i was able to pull between some construction cones before it lost power completely. Upon towing to a dealer, i was told the fuel pump had failed. Vw warranty will cover all damage, but it is considerable. All fuel injectors, pumps, lines etc will be replaced. I soon learned from friends that this happened to their tdi model vehicles as well. All information that i find dates to 2011, but you need to know this problem is still occurring. I am very cautious about where i fill up and still experienced this failure. In spite of being assured by the vw mechanic that my car will be "perfect," i feel that i need to report this incident.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the internal fuel filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,500.

Hybrid emotor (electronic traction motor ) fails at 100k miles .can cause sudden failure and fire.vw does not consider this part as pzev and does not follow california pzev law.

Received a hybrid system error on 01/02/2018 while driving to work just within my neighborhood, then it disappeared and i noticed the gas mileage was getting way out of control (usually get 50/gal, then got less than 30/gal). I knew something was off especially since i have been asking the dealer to check the transmission at 53k (had a previous jetta with transmission issues). After keeping my car for a month, the dealer put in a clutch only to call back to say they now needed a full transmission and it would have to be inspected and tested by the warrant company. Another 15 days and the transmission was finally added. The transmission has been fixed but the gas millage has not been restored. Called the dealer and said that i am bringing it back at the end of the week. After have both a regular 2009 and a 2013 jetta hybrid with the same issue, i no longer want anything to do with vw vehicles.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated intermittently when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the diagnostic monitoring machine indicated the high pressure fuel pump was faulty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the diagnostic machine also indicated the same failure. Since the vehicle did not experience the failure while at the dealer, the contact was informed that no repairs would be performed. In addition, the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 14v656000 (suspension). After taking to the vehicle to the dealer, the contact was informed that no repairs would be done, even though the rear end sustained visible damage. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 50,000.

While driving in my neighborhood i drove away from a stop sign and lost engine power. I pulled over and saw my glow plug light on and the check engine light on. I put the car in park and turned it off and then tried restarting it. No luck. I had the vehicle towed to the closest vw dealer in my area and the next day was told my high pressure fuel pump had failed and before they would fix the issue a fuel sample would have to be tested. I asked why and they said there has been issues with misfueling with unleaded gasoline and they said they believed i did not misfuel my car but were following vw's new service protocol. It has been 16 days and i was told they sent my fuel sample to the wrong place and it never made it to the "independent" lab. So now i wait and the car has not been touched. My vehicle ran normally until the complete failure of the hpfp and my car is under the new car warranty still. I should not have to be dealing with this and be told if the diesel is not up to specs that i responsible for theguestimated $7,000 bill. There are so many cases of this issue and even the dealer admitted the car is not designed for the quality of fuel we have in the u.s. And it makes me concerned that car should not be produced if it cannot handle our fuel, roads, emissions testing, etc.. I am absolutely frustrated, upset, and do not trust the service by the dealership any longer and do not event want to own my car anymore. I will never buy another vw again.

While driving up hill on a city street traveling at 40 miles per hour the engine lostpower. Fortunately traffic was light at the time and i was able to get to the side of the road before the engine lost all power and later would not restart.. If this was on the highway, i would have been disabled in traffic lanes creating a hazard for myself and others. Various warning lights came on at the time the engine lost power. I later found out the problem was a 'catastrophic'high pressure fuel pump failure.this is a known problem for which volkswagen has blamed on incorrect or poor fuel. This was not the cause the pump failure in my vehicle and points to problems with the part itself.i learned that volkswagen provided an extended warranty for high pressure fuel pumps, but only up to the 2012 model year. (my vehicle is a 2013 model.)my vehicle had 70,657 miles on it at the time the problem occurred.

The engine will shut off when car is in traffic or coming to stop. Engine rpm will go to zero and power steering and power braking is lost.

Fuel system failed causing metal shavings to go throughout the fuel system.entire fuel system had to be replaced.

Several lights displayed on the dash preceded by a rattling noise in the engine. The car lost power, stalled and was able to start enough to drive to the shoulder, at which point it died completely. Was towed to the dealership and the hpfp had failed and was contaminated with metal shavings. Total rebuild of the hppfp. The hpfp failed again at 31,8883, this time with no warning except a check engine light followed by a complete loss of power. The car was traveling at 75 mph in the fast lane of i-80. Was again towed to dealership and repaired. They said a bolt failed and the system was again rebuilt.

High pressure fuel pump noise. Dealer diagnosed as pump failure due to contaminated fuel. Vehicle had always been fueled at high volume diesel outlet. Fuel outlet has local govt. Fuel contracts and monitors fuel on strict schedules as per their contracts. Volkswagen of lee's summit fixed problem under warranty but indicated the "extended warranty" that i paid extra for would not honor this repair at any later dated when this pump fails again. (due to bad fuel) ?

About 2 days after having my fuel injectors replaced due to a total loss of power while driving/in conjunction with misfiring, i got the hybrid light.it was in a residential area.i noticed rpm's and charge levels were fluctuating along prior to loss of power. Total loss of power again.shut off vehicle.waited a minute.turned vehicle back on then continued driving.had one additional loss of power but the hybrid light didn't come on.the transmission indicator showed a wrench instead of "d" the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle failed to move forward despite hearing the engine rev.

I purchased the car on 3/2013, by 5/2016 the ac compressor failed and i had to pay $1,000 to replace, 2 weeks later the fuel pump failed and the car stopped in the middle of the road while driving, this was very unsafe i had my child in the back seat and we could have had a serious accident. The vw refuses to repair because a they say it's not a defaulty fuel pump. The dealer service states it should be approved and covered for full repair. Now, i have a $4,000 bill i can't pay, a car i can't drive and a car payment for a car i can't drive. I need help with this defective fuel pump.

Left my house to go to the grocery store. Grocery store is about 3 miles from my house. Was therefore maybe 15 minutes, then went across the street to buy lunch. Parked car outside restaurant, and was taking my food to go. Got back to my car about 5 minutes later to head back home. About 5 minutes after leaving restaurant i was crossing busy intersection when my glow plug light came on, within in minute my car had completely stalled out and did not come back on. Car was towed to vw dealership and i was told my high pressure fuel system had exploded and everything has to be replaced. The repair estimate i was given is for $6,374.48.

Was driving when the car suddenly shut off but radio and dash lights were still on almost caused a crash finally got car stopped and started back up fine serious problem needs fixed....

Car is a diesel/tdi.check engine light came on, car stalled and would not restart.had to be towed to dealership.problem turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) and entire fuel system had to be replaced.this has happened twice in the same car (once again in may of 2014 - exact same problem).

Thank you,

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the doors locked and unlocked automatically at every stop. The failure occurred without warning. The contact called schumacher volkswagen of west palm beach at 561-935-4490 (located at 3001 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33409) and scheduled a diagnostic appointment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving 70 mph, the front driver side door opened independently and would not latch. The door ajar warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,785. The vin was unavailable.

Dsg transmission issues:when making a left hand turn across traffic, i coasted up to the light when it was my turn, then i pressed the accelerator and the car had no power. It crossed through the intersection at approximately 1 to 2 mph. It took 5 to 10 seconds for the power to return. It felt like if you are driving a manual transmission and have the car in 4th or 5th gear when trying to start moving. This has happened at quite a few intersections. Also it happened when i was accelerating then had to release the accelerator due to a vehicle slowing in front of me, i re engaged the accelerator and there was no power for 5 to 10 seconds.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park or neutral, the engine fluctuated between electric to gas and gas to electric. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the volkswagen billings (4040 king ave w, billings, mt 59108, (888) 479-2165) where an unknown software update was performed however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the mechatronic transmission control unit was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

Complete loss of drive while driving, check engine light came on, gear indicator flashing "d" and a wrench. After making it to the side of the road and trying to get power back, the car would not start.

Driving straight on a city street and with no warning all power was lost to propel the vehicle. Due to the sudden loss of power with no warning, an accident nearly occurred. Recalls for this make/model of vehicle are documented (13v568000 and 19v866000) but for some reason volkswagen is not covering all 2013 jetta hybrids under these recalls, which both indicate sudden loss of power to the vehicle due to transmission/gear box issues.

The vehicle would loose power while accelerating, this would happen randomly at any time or speed of driving when the the rpm would hit 4000, the car would love all power and then violently jolt as the power to the engine would kick back in. The volkswagen vehicle while sitting in traffic, at stop signs or red lights would loose power completely. I have taken the car to two different volkswagen dealerships to try and get the issue resolved and for the best part of 6 months one of the dealerships kept telling me the issue didn't exist purely because they couldn't replicate it enough to understand whats the issue was! i feared for my life sometimes driving it as it would cut out and loose power while i was crossing intersections or pulling across a busy free way, many times it happened with my children in the car! i eventually took it to another dealership when it got so bad i could replicate it every time i would drive the vehicle, they managed to resolved the issue for only a month before it started happening again! not its starting to recreate the whole issues and more over and over again and now 1 year and 2 months later i'm back to taking back to the dealership to try and resolve issue they keep telling me they cant recreate, though they have fixed it temporally once before, so they must have idea on what the issue must be. I have got volkswagen corporate involved but i cant honestly say this is the worst experience i've ever had with customer service and a product, the product which in this case is a car clearly has a defect and volkswagen are doing absolutely nothing to help me resolve this, i feel as though volkswagen do not even believe i have issue with this car, for two years an 2 months i've had a car thats spent half of its life with issues and in and out the dealership! all i wish to have is a safe car to drive for my family and i,

Car will not shift into gear transmission is cracked and vw will not do anything

Vehicle just exited freeway onto exit ramp. While braking from highway speed, at approximately 10-15 mph, there was a loud noise and the engine stalled.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle was shifted from park to drive however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the service vehicle warning light was illuminated. The vehicle resumed normal operation after the vehicle was turned off and restarted. The failure recurred and the process was repeated. The contact stated that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 19v866000 (power train) however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was taken to clay cooley volkswagen park cities (5555 lemmon ave dallas, tx 75209) and the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Hybrid module work shop warning. The car has now power breaks when this happens. The car under performs when the electric drive does not work. No power brakes add to the problems. My car has been repaired 2 times for the same problem.it a drive ability and safety issue. Vw has not been helpful with a solution.

Mechatronics unit failure, causing failure of dsg transmission, which is a critical safety concern when traveling at high speeds, or accelerating through traffic.common failure yet vw refuses to take responsibility. There have been several recalls on dsg transmissions in past model years

The vehicle's transmission failed to go into reverse when my daughter was driving.we took the jetta to the dansbury volkswagen dealer in ct.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v866000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to her residence. The contact stated that while driving to serramonte volkswagen located at 711 serramonte blvd, colma, ca 94014, (888)345-5205, the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to the dealer instead. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer also confirmed that the part was not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Hairline cracks can develop within the transmission electronic gearbox (mechatronic unit), causing an internal transmission oil leak and a decrease in oil pressure.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.

The vehicle was being driven. While it was in motion on the freeway the hybrid light turned on when this happened. At the same time the ac stopped cooling. Once we got home we inspected it. The freeze on is full and nothing is wrong with the ac condensor. We turned it on and took it for a drive down the neighborhood but the gear shift wont work. The car loses power when switched to the second shift. We have taken it to volkswagon and they quoted us a repair for the entire transmission replacement. Yet there is a open recall.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v866000 (power train) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that there was an engine misfire while driving at various speeds with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to volkswagen of alamo heights (1402 ne loop 410 expressway, san antonio, tx 78209) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was associated with the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.*dt

We just bought a new 2013 volkswagen jetta sports wagon with diesel tdi engine and dsg transmission. Driving the car home from the dealer the transmission failed at 110 miles on the odometer. It has been towed to the dealer and they tell me that the mechatronic unit has failed. The symptom of the failure was that the transmission seemed to shift into neutral with no notice and the car had severally reduced power available (less than 10 mph). Research on the internet shows that volkswagen has had problems with this before. It seems very serious to me to have something like this fail on a brand new vehicle.

I was notified of a recall in december (8 months ago) for "hairline cracks may develop in the accumulator housing of the transmission (mechatronic unit)" but to date the no repair has been made or made available.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle would reverse while in the drive position. The engine indicator illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,000.

On 05/21/2021 while merging onto the i-5 freeway in olympia at high speed the epc dash light came on and the car lost all acceleration and had to swerve off onto the shoulder to avoid any collision (felt like car had stalled). Luckily it was in early am so traffic was not as bad as normal. Once on the shoulder the car would not move. Contacted geico and had car towed into the closest volkswagon service center once they opened. After the inspection (05/24/2021) was told that the mechatronic unit had failed and there were metal shards throughout the transmission that couldn't be removed, so the entire transmission would need to be replaced. There was no warning of the failure; there was a check engine light on previously for a different mechanical issue (vacuum pump) that began 03/10/2021. At that time the car was closely inspected at a vw dealership and i was told safe to drive until i could get it repaired (just hybrid system would no longer function). At that time they updated some software on the car for a separate recall (38c4). The car has been inspected by two separate volkswagon service centers, volkswagon of olympia (where the car is currently for the transmission failure), and back on 03/10/2021 at the burlington wa volkswagon dealership.researched the issue and this particular model and production year had been recalled under #34f6, however for whatever reason my vin number was not included in the recall. I believe this car should have been included in that recall.

During normal around-town operation the vehicle (2013 jetta hybrid) experienced a temporary loss of drive power. It felt like the clutch slipped or became disengaged momentarily (3 seconds). The check engine light displayed. We immediately drove it to a repair shop that was less than a mile away. After reading out a diagnostic error code (p0841 - transmission fluid pressure) and noting that the transmission fluid was dark and contaminated with a burnt smell, the initial shop decided the repair was beyond their ability as it seemed to be related to the transmission pressure sensor switch which is embedded inside the transmission case under 600 psi pressure. The car was driven without incidence a few miles (5) to the local dealer, where further diagnostics took place. They uncovered 2 additional error codes (p1806- function restriction due to pressure drop) and (p17713 - clutch tolerance). After a few days of internal debate at vw (i believe they contacted the chief engineer or guru for that particular unit), the dealer came back with the prognosis that the entire transmission needs replacement at the cost of about $9000. In the weeks previous to this episode, we had noticed what felt like a mild slipping of the clutch, but never a full loss of power and no check-engine light. The problems we are experiencing sound identical to those reported in nhtsa safety recall 19v866000 (vw's number for this recall is 34j6), which states 'hairline cracks can develop within the transmission electronic gearbox (mechatronic unit), causing an internal transmission oil leak and a decrease in oil pressure. A decrease in transmission oil pressure can cause the clutch to fail to engage, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.' it seems to me that the current recall perhaps needs to be more inclusive. This car is 8 years old, but only has 47k miles.

Concerns 2013 vw jetta hybrid sel 1.4l december 06, 2019, manufacturer recall number34j6, nhtsa recall number 19v866, recall status: "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available," summary: "hairline cracks may develop in the accumulator housing of the transmission (mechatronic unit), leaking and leading to insufficient transmission oil pressure."still no fix available and no estimated date of providing a fix from vw usa customer care as of may 24, 2020. I am becoming concerned that vw is ignoring this recall because of the inordinate expense of repair. This recall has almost obliterated the resale value of the car.

Transmission is failing and leaving the vehicel unable to move at times in traffic, engine revs and gears do not engage while driving in traffic at times. Vw dealership states they are waiting for a recall notice to repair but untill then, the fix is over 8k

Was driving when the car suddenly shut off but radio and dash lights were still on almost caused a crash finally got car stopped and started back up fine serious problem needs fixed....

I have a 2013 jetta hybrid that is having the loss of drive and shifting issues as outlined in the recall yet my vin# is not one that is on the list. There have been several times while driving on the interstate as well as locally that the car will just suddenly lose power and i cannot get it back up to speed to pull over. The codes that are coming up because the check engine light is on are:stuck in reverse, stuck in 5th gear luckily i haven't had any accidents. I have taken the car to be diagnosed by a volkswagen dealership as well as an independent auto shop that specializes in volkswagens both with the same result that is needs a transmission.i don't understand why it is not being recalled when it is doing all the same things that is stated in the recall and not to mention the safety implications.this is very frustrating when i cannot safely rely on my car not knowing when it will happen and if i will be as lucky as to not get into an accident. I really wish volkswagen would do something about this, but the only thing i keep hearing is i'm sorry your vin# is not on the recall.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that when her son was driving, a rattling sound was heard in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the transmission was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired and was not taken to a dealer. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v866000 (power train). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

While driving suddenly loose power or transmission failure. It'll feel like it's in nuetral. Diagnostic test can't pick it up so what can we do as consumers? keep complaining nobody is hearing us. Damage!!

I started my car with no issue but when it was put into reverse it began making a horrible clunking/grinding noise then shut off and could not start after. To be clear: the car was in motion before making the noise and shutting down, but had not gone far before dying. I did not make it out of the parking lot. It hadn't had any issues at all before this and has always had it's maintenance taken care of on time. We took it to a vw dealership to have it checked and it turned out that the entire transmission needed to be replaced. We had it replaced and it seemed to be running okay, but as soon as we took it home it wouldn't start up again. We once again took it to a dealership and found that the mechatronic unit was also bad. We had taken it in to have it checked since we heard there was a recall on the mechatronic units in some vw vehicles but we're told that it didn't apply to our vin number. I believe that they did not include a number of different cars in the recall that should have been included. I am definitely not the first person to have this happen after being told that the recall didn't apply to their call.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta.the contact stated that while reversing out of her driveway, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle failed to reverse. The contact managed to drive at low speeds to cheaple auto sales inc (3626 airline dr, metairie, la 70001, (504) 841-0027) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer undrivable. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and informed the contact to log a complaint with nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

Engaging vehicle into first from a stop, would not go,it was stuck in reverse for a minute. Finally went into first after playing with the shifter and getting it unstuck. Newcar, volkswagen is pathetic.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v866000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called chico volkswagen (902 main st, chico, ca 95928; (530) 891-6275) where it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

While driving vehicle with dsg transmission in normal "drive" (d) mode the transmission will shift into what feels like neutral with no warning whatsoever and no clear way of making the car driveable again. Car has to come to a complete stop with no power available for transmission to return to working condition. Happens intermittently invarying driving conditions such as while cruising down the highway or while driving at normal commercial street speeds. Took it to dealer but issue could not be replicated.

The car is 88k miles and one day i get an engine light and i take it to the dealership to get diagnosed they told me the transmission is failing and need to be replaced and it's 8 thousand dollars to fix

The ignition when trying to turn my vehicle off it will not let me i have to take about 5 min to finally get the key to turn off

Car jolts on freeway. Driver side mirror protector fell off. As a result of trying to grab fallen off piece over extended arm injury. Due to extending arm out window

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While operating the vehicle, the direct shift gear warning indicator intermittently illuminated, which meant that the transmission overheated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. Fox valley volkswagen st. Charles (4050 east main st, st. Charles, il) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.

While driving at 40 mph and attempting to make a leftturn, the vehicle lost power with the check engine warning light illuminated. I placed the vehicle inpark for 30 seconds and attempted to restart the vehicle, it turned on but would not go into gear.i then had it towedto the dealer (mission bay volkswagen ' (address 2205 morena blvd, san diego, ca 92110) to be diagnosed. I wasinformed that there was a crack in the transmission which caused oil to leak into the electrical gearbox causing it to fail.i'm the second owner and it has 47,000 original miles on it.

Regarding recall 19v866, the failed part, mechatronics unit, causes low transmission oil and clutch slippage both of which can cause damage to the vehicle transmission. I was told by vw customer care that my car would be safe to drive while waiting for the repair. Now, both my mechatronics unit and transmission have gone out. Vw refuses to provide me any specific details on the transmission failure. They say, "it's an internal failure", "its unrelated to the mechatronics", and "we can't tell you exactly what is wrong with your transmission". They have also said that they will not repair the mechatronics unit without me repairing the transmission because the mechatronics unit would be damaged by the now damaged transmission. The mechatronics system controls the transmission directly and has been mis programmed for the life of my vehicle. This incorrect programming has caused the mechatronics to cause physical damage to the clutch plates in the form of cracks. The cracks allow transmission oil to get trapped where it is not supposed to be and leave the transmission low on transmission oil, though there are no outward error codes until the car starts to have problems with shifting. That means my car has gone 162000 miles and the transmission has been low on transmission oil unbeknownst to me, the driver of the vehicle, for an unknown amount of time. Over 1000s of miles, it has likely damaged my transmission.additionally, the damaged clutch plates can fail to engage or slip. This can also cause damage to the transmission. Not to mention that the clutch plates are directly connected to shifting, and if they are being physically damaged by the mis programming, i don't know what this has done to my transmission. At this time, vw has refused to repair my vehicle for the recall or look into possible damage to my transmission.

When starting to accelerate, my jetta will randomly shift with a very hard jerk.took it to the local vw dealer here in germany but they could not duplicate it (my car is us spec, but we are stationed abroad).the service manager sent a message to the engineers for possible solution but it took another 6 weeks to get advice which was to do a reset on the computer.that did not work as now when it happens, it sometimes acts as though it is not in gear, rpm's rev, but car barely moves, making it unsafe on the roadway.when i pull over, turn off the engine, and then restart it, it is usually fine again for a little bit.but because it is a random occurrence and they cannot replicate it, the technicians do not see it as a problem.

I have a 2013 jetta hybrid the check engine light came on and i took it to the dealership. They ran diagnostic and said the mechtronic unit has to be replaced or the vehicle could stop working while driving. There is a recall 34j6/4vfor all jetta hybrids from 2013-2014. Vw tells me my vehicle does not qualify. My cars vin # is within the parameters on the attached bulletin as well. I believe i was never notified because i purchased the car used and the previous owner received the information.

While driving, my car just lost speed and power and drifted until it hit zero.my car still turned on, and my engine worked fine, but the clutch wouldn't start in any gear it would just rev the engines and the rpm's would go up but the car would not move.there was no prior clutch, transmission or powertrain issues with the car until the exact moment that the clutch burned out.car was towed to vw for repairs and i had to get a hotel room for the night plus a rental for 5 days as i had to be in rhode island and the car broke down in new york.total clutch burned out with several large cracks in clutch plate, service manager stated it was due to build up of snow/ice in around tire and creating a drag on the vehicle and increased torque on the drive train.there are many complaints of very similar issues located on the internet, vehicle was built with a clutch that can barely handle the torque output of the engine but cannot handle any additional torque resulting from normal driving conditions such as snow and ice.required total cost was $1,800 for repairs and labor, plus $500 for the hotel room, food and rental vehicle.

A failed tensioner causing the timing chain to snap and bend the valves.

A two week old 2013 vw jetta became stuck in reverse after being in park and then i tried to put it in drive in the middle lane of an extremely busy street in brooklyn, ny. The car would not move from reverse and had to be towed away.i heard from others this is a known defect and i want to know why it is not a registered recall with nhtsa and why i had to experience a life threatening situation for a known defect.i am not sure it will be fixed as it is currently in the vw service center.

This vehicle doesn't run correctly it refuses to move while in driving

I'm hoping you can help me. I have a 2013 jetta hybrid se 1.4l auto pzev with 47,000 original miles.i'm the second owner and i purchased it with 19,000 original miles.i've never missed an oil change and always kept it up to date with maintenance. I was driving on the street and my check engine light came on, as i was making a turn at about 35 miles an hour my car acted like it kicked into neutral and when pressing the gas just revved the engine.i safely pulled over to the side and had the car towed to a mechanic. He took a look and said there was a significant leak coming from the transmission and i should take it to a vw dealership because there are a lot of recalls for this type of stuff.i had it towed to vw and they said it was a hairline crack in the transmission that caused an oil leak into the electronic gearbox which caused the loss of control and power.they said there is no recall and it would be a $12,000.00 fix.the car has 47k original miles on it, no wrecks, and i've never missed an oil change. Had i not quickly reacted i could of caused a car accident injuring or killing myself or someone else. This is unbelievable that vw is not being held responsible for this. There is a recall for this exact problem recall number: 34j6 but for some reason it does no include my specific jetta.how is that possible?

Vehicle began experiencing a violent lurching action around 50,000 miles, either when coming to a stop, or depressing brake after sitting at a stop. Dealer "reset" transmission and problem began again after a couple months. Happens once a day now. Feels like the vehicle is being rear ended. Now have 100,000 miles on vehicle.

While driving at 40 mph, the vehicle jerked. In addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate but increased in rpms. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v568000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.

While driving with a total of 26,415 miles, the manual transmission suddenly failed.specifically, after stopping in front of my son's school on a city street to put car into reverse to parallel park, the stick shift would not go into gear.i was stuck in the roadway and had to solicit two men to push my car to the side of the road to await towing to the dealership under the 3 year warranty.come to find out vw does not warranty the clutch except for the slave cylinder, and thus considers all other mechanical failure to be user wear and tear.i have noted many jetta owners on the internet complaining of the same problem with as few as 2930 miles driven.in 30 years of driving a manual transmission, the past 13 in vws, i have never had any clutch problems, issues, work or replacements.i am still waiting for them to officially "diagnose" the problem after agreeing to pay $500 to take out and examine the transmission, and bear that cost and all other parts/labor if they determine the cause is anything besides the slave cylinder. Yet my problem is not with the clutch but engaging the stick into gear and thus unlikely to be diagnosed as the slave cylinder.clearly there is a history of shoddy or cheap clutch parts for which vw fails to take responsibility and instead shifts costs onto its customers claiming user wear and tear.after failing prey to the faulty sunroof problem in a prior 2003 gli and paying to fix it myself after eight years of dealer bandaids and missing the class action lawsuit, you would think i would have learned and bought something else.

Jetta sportwagen tdi with a 6 speed manual transmission.pulling out of a gas station, shifted from first to second, clutch pedal stayed on the floor.could not shift or control vehicle speed of vehicle.rolled to a stop.car had to be towed.had to replace clutch, throw out bearing and slave cylinder.up to this point, there had been no indication of clutch problems.i have driven 6 manual transmission cars a total of 911,000 miles and never had any clutch problems.

The jetta was being test driven by qtm from voa with passenger rick nelson, service manager of bob baker volkswagen vw when getting on the 5 freeway on the las floras on ramp when the car shifted between 3rd and 4th gear the engine missed. The qtm comments on the miss and states that he doesn't think it triggered a full misfire, but then inquired to rick nelson about the tsb that lisa has regarding misfire, tsb 01-13-14. Qtm also experienced and acknowledged loss of power and throttle response at approximately 60 mph while he was driving north on the 5 freeway. The qtm and rick nelson agree to open a vta and the qtm states that he will take it over and put his notes in it. These are the issues that i continue to experience with the car and why i brought the car in for service. The odd thing is that the service invoice generated and given to me stated that there were no issues found during the test drive. The statements on the service invoice are fraudulent and in direct conflict with the statements made by the qtm and service manager during the test drive. I continue to experience the car missing while in sport mode and loss of throttle response while in drive.. The status of the vta and its contents are under investigation. As far as the reputation of the qtm from voa and the dealership and its service department at bob baker vw, i think their fraudulent statements on my service invoice speak for themselves. .

This vehicle lost power as i was going through an intersection. Warning lights lit up like the fourth of july. It entered into a stall-like condition and could have easily caused a life threatening accident. Dealership found no issues. Approximately 6 months later, the transmission needs to be entirely replaced at a cost of $8,000. Usd. The vehicle has been well maintained and had only 85,000 miles when this failure occurred.

Transmission input shaft bearing failure at 51,000 miles

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number 19v866000 (power train) however, the parts needed to repair the defect was unavailable. The local dealer ed payne vw located at 2003 e expressway 83, mission, tx 78572 and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.the contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Sudden loss of acceleration power at any speed without warning. On freeway must roll to a stop. No engine lights on. Mechanic unable to diagnose problem, car is not giving a trouble code. Issue occurs when vehicle is cold or hot at a stop or moving. It's been occurring twice a week now for the past two weeks. I've noticed similarcomplaints from other owners on automobile forums.

Takata recall:driving vw jetta hybrid with my family as i rememberpassing 2 set of lights as we left our house, when we stopped on the third red light my engine started idling, like every second gas engine would stop and turn back on.so it keeps doing itall the time on d position, and when transmission onn positionthe engine justkeeps going. The sadthing is that you think the car with 22,000 mi on it, should not have major issues like this.

Experienced sudden lose of drive power as described in recall 34j6

In 12/2014 i started realizing issues with auto-transmission in the morning when i start the car.the issue continued to happen every single day. Dealer was not able to diagnose the problem because it only happen first thing in the morning.

Hybrid emotor (electronic traction motor ) fails at 100k miles .can cause sudden failure and fire.vw does not consider this part as pzev and does not follow california pzev law.

Left work and barely made it out of the parking lot when the car made a 'clunk' and lurched in d but would not go. Large indicator light came on, put car in p, waited and then back to d. Still would not drive. Turned it off and waited a minute or two. Was able to restart and drive to parking lot. Large light was out but check engine came on. Lots of transmission fluid leaked while waiting for tow truck. My vin not in recall. 😡

10/21/2020 - i was driving on the freeway in stop & go traffic when i went to go again the car just revved but did not go under power.the hybrid light came on & the gear indicator started to flash.i was able to pull to the side of the road safely & tried to put it in reverse & also tried to use the manual shifting option to see if that would work, again no movement.had it towed to a local shop that works on volkswagens & audis.upon unloading the vehicle off of the tow truck i noticed fresh fluid on the bed of the truck toward the drivers side front.i did not think anything of it because when i pulled off of the freeway i did not see any fluids leaking from the vehicle.10/22/2020 - the shop pulled a code that indicated low pressure in the transmission.he mentioned a recall that came up of 34j6.i told them that after dropping the vehicle the night before that i lifted the hood and saw what looked like some sort of fluid spray near the drivers side front.i called vw care hotline and asked about 34j6 recall, my car is not part of that recall10/26/2020 - the shop called to let me know that they did a visual inspection & they found the cover for the mechatronic unit lifted off and even pulled over 2 bolts that hold it onto the transmission.he said based on that he mentioned recall 34j6 & that a vw dealer should do the work.had the car towed to hansel vw in santa rosa, ca.met the car at the dealership to have them write a diagnosis work order, roughly up to $400 to diagnose what happened10/28/2020 - hansel's service advisor called to let me know that the cover of the m.u. Had pulled away & that something internal happened.the advisor or the technicican called vw america to inquire about replacing the m.u. Only to be told it would require a full transmission replacement.waiting on an estimate from them on a new transmission.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While attempting to park, the vehicle independently moved, even when the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle drove over a curb. The vehicle was taken to winn volkswagen (39695 balentine dr, newark, ca 94560) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body assembly had potentially failed; however, only a software update was performed. After the software update, the check engine warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the throttle body assembly was replaced. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 75,037.

A few months back an error came up on my dash saying "hybrid workshop." i called the dealership and they said it was regular for my car to say that at about 68k and that i would soon need a hybrid systems check. That light went off the very next day so i didn't stress it. Soon after my car began acting funny when coming to complete stops, the vehicle would jolt back into motion causing a hard breaking motion to occur. Soon after my transmission failed as i was parking. I was in reverse and the car suddenly stopped reversing and began to rev loudly before jumping back into reverse and then back to revving. After transmission failure, i brought it to the dealer and the dealership said it may be my mechatronics unit, after taking the mechatronics unit out they determined it was indeed the transmission. I've read of a recall for this very same problem hundreds of times online after searching it, yet my vin isn't connected to any recalls on vws website.

Hairline cracks may develop in the accumulator housing of the transmission (mechatronic unit).the crack may lead to an internal leak, which, in turn, may lead to insufficient transmission oil pressure.if this happens, the transmission warning light will illuminate in the instrument panel. If the warning light is ignored and the vehicle is driven, the clutch may not engage. Failure of the clutch to engage may cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels, potentially leading to a vehicle crash.this recall for vw is number 34j6 as was to include vw jetta hybrids for 2013-2015.my vehicle is a 2013 jetta hybrid with the same issue as this recall but vw refuses to include my vehicle in the recall.

Car would slip/stall when accelerating from a dead stop.check engine light came on.then car would not start.dealership said it needs a new transmission assembly.

Recall 19v866000 "volkswagen group of america, inc (volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 jetta hybrid vehicles manufactured october 2012 through october 2013 and equipped with a dq-200 direct-shift gearbox. Due to gearbox fluid additives, the control module within the gearbox may corrode. The deposits from this corrosion may cause an electrical short and result in a stall-like condition."my 2013 vw jetta hybrid is showing the same symptoms as this recall. At 125k miles, i had to limp it into the vw dealership after only odd gears would engage. Driving down the road or trying to get onto the highway or at a complete stop. The transmission would loose power and the car would have to be pulled to the side of the road to be shut down and restarted multiple times. The dealership is unable to fix the transmission as well as any other transmission shop because vw does not sell parts to the transmission because it is a "trade secret". A new transmission is $6000 and by the blogs people post with this exact trouble, the transmission does not last more than ~100k miles.

This is a hybrid vw jetta 2013 transmission loss of reverse , 2nd, 4th, 6th, gears . I read there is a recall 34j6 for transmission supposedly to be in effect may 31, 2021

2013 jetta hybrid with 74,000 miles, started to cycle between e-mode and engine when stopped every couple of seconds, when stepping on brake to stop, would initially accelerate forward. Always completed required maintenance at vw dealer. Brought into vw service and was told the transmission needed replacing and cost was $7200. Vin was not part of the recall.

Sudden and random loss of driving power- fault code p177b clutch 1 tolerance limit reached causing mechanical malfunction.vehicle sometimes is in motion and stalls and jerks.other times it is when trying to accelerate-sudden loss of power.almost caused a crash with my teenage daughter and 2 of her friends inside.

The car had to be left running with no way to lock the car to prevent theft or children from accessing the car. Vehicle was stationary.

Transmission is in need of replacement at 110,000 miles.the mechatronic unit was replaced at 55,000 miles while the vehicle was still under warranty.the condition that exists is exactly similar to what is described in the recall (34f6/4v) making the vehicle unsafe to drive.unfortunately, the cost to repair the vehicle is more than the kbb value.it is difficult to think that 55,000 miles is acceptable for a transmission to need to be replaced.our vehicles manufacture date is 9/26/12, missing the cut off to qualify for the recall by 5 days.when the vehicle is at a stop it wants to lurch forward due to the clutches not turning the electric engine on.the car will cycle on and off the gas engine until you are back under power.the lurching can be violent and if you don't have firm pressure on the brake the vehicle will lunge forward.

Dsg transmission shifting hard 2-3 and 3-4 with clanking you can feel. Lurching from a stop when letting of the brake. This happens mostly at around 50% throttle when accelerating.

Jetta hybrid. Loss of traction while ascending steep driveway.never happened before even with another hybrid.

As i was driving down the road, the seat belt light came on in my dash. My seat belt was buckled in. So i pulled over and unbuckled my seat belt and buckled back up. But it didn't turn off the seat belt light. I did it for a couple more times. Still didn't work. I shut the car down and waited momentarily. Turned it back on. Tried buckling back up to no luck. The whole car ride to work had a annoying seat belt charm. 2013 jetta gli with 48k miles.

Rear seat belts on both sides are frayed. Car has 54,000 miles. Back seats are rarely if ever used so it isn't from wear or misuse. We are original owners.

Both front bucket seats ' backrests are tilted inwards.on the driver's seat this causes unbeknownst to the driver to tilt his neck slightly outwards to correct the inwards tilting and produces a long term neck pain effect of which he is unaware of its source .if you put a string around the back rest and slide it down from top to bottom and you can clearly measure the difference indepth distance between the cord on both vertical ends of the backrest as you slide it down. I did the test recently in front of a vw technician and he agreed with me that the backrest was tilted inwards.i first reported this issue to volkswagen of america when the car was still under full warranty in september 2016 when i just bought it with 24,000 miles. At that time they said they depended on the dealers mechanics opinion. But the techs once confronted prefered not to analyze evidence that was unfamiliar and potentially compromising. I went back to volkswagen of america recently with a full confirmation of the problem.i told them that after a hundred thousand miles of using back rest cushions anda stiff neck pain to show i was absolutely sure that there was clear reasonto recall and replace at least the driver's seat . Furthermore during the pandemia i stopped driving the car for about 4 months and the neck pain faded mostly away .at this moment a supervisor from volkswagen of america called me back and said rudely they were not going to do anything because the car was now out of warranty and they would only replace the seat if they were mandated by a recall.so here i am...pursuing a solution to ahidden-hard to diagnose problem that i believenot only affects my car generation but other models of volkswagen manufacturing.

Brakes do not respond properly

Attempted to use my brake pedal and it didn't stop the car. Upon the second or third pump, it did finally engage. This delay in the brake caused me to run a stop sign. I was lucky no one was around.

I was driving and my car stayed going at the speed i was driving it would not exhilarate or brake it stayed frozen for a couple of minutes

Hybrid module work shop warning. The car has now power breaks when this happens. The car under performs when the electric drive does not work. No power brakes add to the problems. My car has been repaired 2 times for the same problem.it a drive ability and safety issue. Vw has not been helpful with a solution.

The brake did not apply. After the car was parked and was in "r" (reverse), the brake pedal was pressed but the car did not stop.

When driving my jetta in "s" (sport selection on the transmission) on a surface street i came to a red light. I started braking and the brakes felt spongy and unresponsive. I tried pressing on the brake pedal with more force but was not getting much braking response. The vehicle took a very long distance to respond compared to its response time when in "d" (drive selection on the transmission). Lucky i am an early barker and there was not a car in front of me so the vehicle only went into the intersection a short distance before it stopped. When finally at a stop i kept steady pressure on the brake pedal. After a few seconds of being at a complete stop i noticed the brake pedal was sinking towards the floor board. It felt like it does when you are bleeding air out of the lines. While at the stop the brake pedal sank further, at first slowly, and then with one final quick movement the brake pedal sank completely to the floor board of the car. The only time i have ever experienced this type of brake activity is with older cars when one is performing the task of bleeding the brakes. If i had been tapped from behind the car would have been sent into the intersection. During this incident i noticed that the tachometer was running at 900 rpm even though the car was at a "complete", or better stated, the brake was pressed all the way to the floor, with no additional braking pressure available. I feel very unsure and unsafe when i go to use my brakes and have to allow several extra car lengths in front of me to ensure that i am able to stop the vehicle in time.

The contact rented a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds and attempting to stop for traffic, the braking system failed to engage and caused the brake pedal to become stuck to the floorboard. The contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. There were no injuries and no police report. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 13,857. The vin was not available.

My car displays no problems on the dash, there are no lights on but when i am driving the car stalls and sometimes just shuts off locking my brakes and steering.usually happens when the car is going under 20mph. After it shuts of i have to put it in park to restart and it restarts without a problem.

The mechatronic unit had already had to been replaced previously when the 2nd issue happened i was at the stoplight in the car lostall movement power the ac and all the instruments were also working door locks windows everything i got ittowed to the dealership and they say it was the electric motorquoted me nearly $12000

My 18 year was driving the car down a side street when the brake pedal went to the floor and the car wouldn't stop. She was able to avoid hitting anything or anybody by pulling to the side and allowing the car to drift to a stop. The car has approximately 43000 miles and just came out of warranty less than 9 months prior to incident. Car was towed to a vw dealer where it was discovered the master brake cylinder had failed. Vw refused to cover the repair which was over $1000. Vw insists this is not a chronic problem on their vehicles despite the fact that complaints of exactly this problem are prevalent on the internet.

Key remains stuck in ignition and car cannot will not turn off vw dealer said the ignition lock cylinder needed to be replaced from over use!!! didn't know you weren't suppose to be able to drive your car!!

As the driver was slowing down to make a right turn and turning the steering wheel to the right, the vehicle would not turn and continued going mostly straight forward.all steering control of the car was lost.the car spun around and came to a rest with one tire facing forward and one facing to the side.the steering rack and pinion metal broke in half while driving.

I am having trouble getting my key to turn off again. The car will turn on with ease but when i park and go to take the key out it's stuck in the "on" position and i have a hard time turning off to get the key out of the ignition switch. The car was under the original manufacturers warranty the first time this happened and a local dealer replaced the ignition switch january 2015. I am now having the same issue however the car is out of both the manufacturer's warranty period and also the 1yr. Warranty for the replacement switch, and by only 6 months i might add.

Steerlock- i drove my car for a few minutes on 6/11/2016 to the store, then returned home. At the store the key had worked fine. When i returned home and put the car in park the key to my car would not turn off. I repeatedly tried to turn the car off, and the key refused to turn off. I called the local volkswagon dealership in marion, il to see if i could get some possible fixes, the service techs were gone for the day since it was a saturday. The salesman said he would contact a technician to see if they had any fixes for me. He called me back and told me to try holding the key forward then letting it snap back. I tried this a few times and it didn't work, so i told them i would drop the car off. Once i got to the dealership the technician had came in and he was able to get the key trick i was told about to work. I left the car with them and they were to let me know what the issue was on monday 6/13/2016. The service manager called me and said it was a issue with the steerlock. He also said they kept the part in stock because this type of thing happens. I told them to go ahead and fix it. I have now picked up my car and it turns on and off properly.

Less than 30000 miles replaced transmission, airbag light stay on ,no horn,no steering wheel controls.same thing recalled for jetta, but not jetta hybirds..

Steering wheel gets hard and starts licking oil. Steering wheel has being replaced multiple times.12/10/13 replaced at 13625 miles, second time replaced 10/10/2014 at 27338 miles. Dec. 2014 i got a recall notice from vw of america due to faulty rear axle. As of feb./03/2015 my vw jetta is currently at the dealer due to the same steering problem. They haven't yet give me the final paper work for the repairs being done. My vw jetta is register with the california dmv to drive a disable person. I have all work orders invoices by the dealership. I was on a car accident on oct./9/2014. I hit the street curve damaging my 2 wheels. I reported the incident to farmers insurance.updated 3/24/16

Key stuck in ignition, car won't turn off.

Ignition cylinder. Key gets stuck in the ignition and is very difficult to remove after shutting the car off. Happens all the time. Sometimes when turning it on, its also difficult to turn the key. Received a letter in the mail talking about a reimbursement if replaced out of pocket, howeververy surprised that this has not been officially recalled yet.

Purchased car 2014, soon after i noticed the key was getting harder and harder to turn or remove.finally i was unable to remove key at all.vw replaced ignition assembly aug 2014.was still always difficult to turn and remove properly.month later i called for them to take note.was told it takes time for it to "work itself out".13 months later, warranty up, i took the car back voicing complaint.they agreed, and replaced same part again in sept 2015.oct 2015 it still acts up.was told by someone in the service problem that it is a common problem.

Frequently the steering wheel will not unlock, key will not turn, this is happening almost everyday, drive to work park the car, at end of day the ignition key won't turn. Steering wheel is locked up, have to wrestle with it constantly, if i get out a jar the car backwards or frontwards it may unlock the key and wheel and may not. This occurs almost everyday. This is very dangerous and frustrating.

The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Key sticks in ignition lock and unable to remove. Went to dealer and told it happens, no recall, and will cost over $400.00 to fix.

Key gets stuck in the ignition with car still on and in park. Cannot get car turned off or key out.

My car key got stuck and the car wont turn off now and it was on parked

Key gets stuck in the ignition with car still on and in park. Cannot get car turned off or key out. Volkswagen knows of the issue but refuses to recall part. Car needs new ignition cylinder. Auto technician at dealership knew exactly how to get the key out, which means that this is a known issue. So much so, that the front desk person knew exactly how he did it and asked about it.

My vehicle has been shutting off by itself. It first started while stopped at traffic lights, now it shuts off while i am driving.

A couple of weeks after buying this new vehicle i noticed that hundreds of foggy looking spots would appear in the rear windshield at certain times of the day. When these spots appear it is almost impossible to see out of this windshield or into it .this usually happens around dawn and around dusk though it has happened at other times of the day also. I have pursued having this problem resolved by contacting the dealer several times only to be told it is because of the window being polarized and that the window is up to manufacturer specifications. Pretty much they have told me, too bad that's the way it is. I have expressed to the dealer and to volkswagen of america that this is a safety issue due to the fact that you can not see out of or in through the windshield when these foggy spots are there.after months of trying to get them to at least acknowledge there is a problem they finally sent an executive down to look at the problem. Their last time i heard from them, they said they would tint the rear windshield so that i wouldn't see the problem. To me this does not make any sense. If you try to cover up the problem you do not solve the problem. I feel that they are trying to cover up a manufacturing problem and ignoring safety issues.i don't know who to talk to or where to go from here with this problem. It seems as though i am getting nowhere with them.i am reading about others with the same problems in vw forums on the internet and am sure there must be other complaints about this problem and am wondering if others have sent complaints into this department also. Any help would be appreciated.

While driving through high wind, the driver side mirror plastic protector fell off. The ac unit needed complete replacement costing 1600 and now the ideal while turning on car is very high. Sound almost like it did when i had to take it in for the electrical recall in the last years. Doors are squeak when opening and closing. And while driving a noise that sound like chainsrattles through out the car which is a very irritating sound.

Takata recall, the doors openingmechanism in cold weather won't allow you to close your door. This is a serious safety hazard. Upon researching this problem i found that this has been happening to volkswagen since at least the 2000s models. I had just went out of my house and gotten into my car when i notice that the door wouldn't open from the outside but would from the inside. I then went to close my door and it wouldn't close. About an hour of my car on with the heat on full blast the door was finally about to click shut.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While turning right into the driveway at 5 mph, the front driver side bumper shattered. The failure occurred during snowy, inclement weather and there was no pressure due to the snow on the bumper. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

Takata recall the driver side door was not opened. So, i go to passenger side and open that door. After opened not closed either. The such as door problem can find from other people either in same car owner. And also, when using remote to make lock the door, other doors locked but this door still can open.

Sunroof shattered while driving in the country, no other cars nearby, nothing overhead, no apparent reason, it just blew up throwing glass everywhere.luckily my 5 and 6 year old were not in the backseat :)

Car jolts on freeway. Driver side mirror protector fell off. As a result of trying to grab fallen off piece over extended arm injury. Due to extending arm out window

Inoperative drivers door lock when locking with the key fob remote. Driver side door will not lock with the key fob, nor will it with the button inside the car. It will only lock with the key sometimes. But even then, probably 50% of the time it doesn't lock with that.car will not lock while you are sitting inside, or driving.not very safe when you are going through dangerous cities'..especially if you are unaware when this defect is not going to allow you to lock your door, if needed. Isn't that what a lock is for- safety and security? this is a known problem, and has been for a while-within previous years. Volkswagen is obviously just refusing to do anything about it.when i took it to the vw mechanic,he seemed very well aware of this volkswagen issue.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle pulled to the left. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the subframe had been moved out of specification because the contact struck a pothole. The dealer stated that this needed to be repaired before the alignment could be performed. The manufacturer stated that the subframe was damaged by an outside influence and would not be covered. The vehicle would need a front end alignment every time it struck a pothole. The manufacturer stated that is how the subframe was designed. The contact felt this was a manufacturer defect. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The left-front suspension partially collapsed while making a turn at low speed into a parking space. I drove short distance to my mechanic who told me:a) there were breaks at both ends and the center of the left-front spring and breaks at both ends of the right front spring,b) the center break in the right spring would have pierced the tire if it had rotated a bit more, c) this failure is occurring on so many vw's that there is a back-order on springs, so it cannot be repaired at this time.this would have been extremely dangerous if the suspension had collapsed at higher speed or if the tire had been pierced.

2013 jetta with 21,994 miles. Original owner. Car has been making noise from front end especially on left hand turns.inspected and found front of car much lower than usual and both front springs broken.a broken spring can result in loss of control and road hazards to other vehicles from broken metal parts on roadway.will have pictures next week when we replace springs and struts.car rides so low that i can't get my hydraulic jack under it at front jack points.

Coil springs break randomly in cold weather making car handle erratically and without warning. Vw has recalled many coil springs on other models but not the jetta hybrid which uses the same components. Very unsafe.

As i was driving i started to hear a knocking noise in the from the rear of the vehicle. After about 20 mins it became worse. I pulled into a parking lot and got out to investigate, everything seemed normal. I then continued to drive around the parking lot. The knocking noise grew louder and then there was a metal breaking noise and the car dropped and the wheel was almost off the car. I looked under the car and the structural steel of the driverside rear trailing arm was snapped in half! this was out of nowhere and thank god i was not going 65mph on the highway!

Upon entering my driveway, my driver side axle trailing arm completely snapped.car has a clean title, bought it from a dealer used with 9k miles on it.i just found out about the global recall and contacted vw directly, the incident and campaign are so new they don't have everything in place to respond.my feeling is there is a manufacturer defect in the metal used & i find it absurd that anyone would have to wait for a side or rear collision to get this part inspected/replaced.i think any client of vw that has a car listed needs to be taken seriously in this campaign - if the trailing arm/axle would have snapped while i was at speed it could have been devastating not only to me, my family but anyone on the road...i'm continuing to talk to vw because my concern is the metal....and what are the replacement parts made of & when were they made??i don't intend on paying one cent for this repair & will hold vw responsible 100% for this or any future issues resulting from their defective part/process....updated 11/06/14updated 7/27/2015

The dunlop sport sp 01 a/s 18" tires that come as standard on certain trim levels of the vw jetta gli / gti are defective imo.i am now going to replace the 4th tire in 29,000 miles of driving the vehicle since new from the same / similar issue; bubbles and sidewall defects, and most recently as of today a blowout in the left lane of a 4 lane highway at 65 mph after a minor road impact (did not jar cabin or wasn't particularly severe) 200 miles always from home.go online to places like tirerack.com and search the web, there are many complaints of the same thing with this tire and in the approximately 30,000-40,000 miles a year of driving i put on two vehicles combined (in which i average a new car purchase every year and half), only these tires have ever been an issue and vw equips these on both the gli and gti with the same said complaints, while other brands of tires in the same size do not have the complaints like these.i do realize they are lower profile and could be prone to more sidewall damage, but in all honesty they are just not built to practical highway strength standards as i again drive other vehicles in the same condition with no ill tire affects.after today's highway blowout i realize this is a safety issue more than just a nuisance as a less experienced driver may have had an accident.vw of america could most likely eliminate this by fitting their vehicles with other brands.

Vehicle has firestone 205/55r16 tires with 33,865 miles.the rear passenger side tire sidewall split while driving in a residential area at a low speed causing a flat tire.all driving has been routine.there is no legitimate reason for a sidewall to split after only 33,865 miles on it unless it is defective.currently, the tire cannot be changed by the owner because the manufacturer has installed locking lug nuts and will not provide the special key to remove the wheel.the glove box has a spot for the special key, so the intent is clear that the owner should have a key, but a key will not be given unless additional money is paid to purchase the key.this is a safety issue.if a flat tire occurs, the owner cannot change the tire and therefore, will be left in an unsafe situation.

Key does not turn to the off position once the car is started. Cannot stop the car car once started. From all the reading i am doing it seems this has happened numerous times with others.

Key is stuck in ignition.car won't turn off.apparently a known issue.

Unable to turn off engine. Key will not come out of ignition (stationary).

Ignition lock cylinder broke and was stuck in on position. Was unable to turn the vehicle off because of this issue. I had to drive home and park the vehicle until my boyfriend got off of work.the steering lock froze in the lock cylinder preventing the key from turning back.

A few months ago , the driver side low beam light went off , with replacement and never turned on .today the passenger side low beam light is off and won't turn on. The high beam lights work .

Takata recall . My roof clothcome offand my ignitionhas lock my lock key in and doesn't come out. Both my car keys are broking.

Car won't shut off and keys are stuck in the ignition. Car is in park, i try wiggling it and turning the wheel but nothing works.

The horn stopped working 1 week ago. I am also replacing bulbs every 2 months.i can't use my horn and the dealer is charging me a crazy fee to fix this. I am not the only one that's going through this

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.no way to turn key, to shut off engine.vehicle stationary running in park.

The car was turned on by a mechanic to be moved to be worked on. He could not get the car to turn off and the steering wheel was not locked. The key would not turn. He called the vw dealer and they said it's a common problem/defect. It is dangerous and should be a recall especially if out of town or out late at night.thepart will take at least two weeks to get in stock at a cost of over $600.00.

Still having issues with removing key from ignition without having to violently shake, push and turn the key.

While driving on the freeway, the rear passenger side door opens. Luckily no one was in the back seat, but i noticed it because i heard the door ajar notification on my driving panel while driving at 70mph. This is a major safety concern because if the door randomly opens and someone is in the backseat they could be in danger. This has happened twice in less than one week.

Replaced variable valve timing solenoid. Fells like engine wants to shut off idles ruff. After replacement having same issue with car. No check engine light came on.

Airbag light/sign on the dashboard is always on,charging outletnot working , vw let us pay $189.00 for diagnostic and want us to pay $500.00 from the refund for the class action lawsuit to fix the airbag prob. They claim it was electricalwiring chewed by rodents.

Overused of soy wiring has caused hundreds of needless dollars of repair work. Wiring is being chewed about by rodents since rodents like soy products.

Key stuck in ignition, car will not turn off

Key gets stuck in the ignition when turning off the engine.

Error found in cold fill tire pressure in national system used by businesses. Vehicle door sticker/placard and owners manual states 41 psi cold fill tire pressure. National system is returning a fill pressure of 33 psi. Experience: at costco tire department their system states to fill to 33 psi; tire representative discovers door placard and indicates an issue for not matching in system. At later date michelin corporate is called by myself and their system also returns 33 psi for this vehicle. Michelin is sent photos of door sticker/placard and owners manual and indicates an issue for not matching in system. This complaint is urgent and safety is at jeopardy. Please take all necessary actions to elevate. There appears to be a system error that all national businesses utilize for relying on cold fill tire pressure. The difference is major; volkswagen states 41 psi and the national system utilized is stating 33 psi.this vehicle trim is a hybrid 17 inch wheels and all original. By nature of being a hybrid the vehicle weighs more due to these hybrid components. It may be possible that operating this vehicle with tires filled to 33 psi is extremely dangerous. From experience it appears vehicles of this trim are improperly being filled at businesses since the system has a tire pressure data error. And in fact many vehicles may currently be affected and pose a serious risk on our roads if their tire were filled to 33 psi. I am here to be of assistance so please feel free to reach out. There must be a way to fix this error. Please first verify this error in the tire pressure system. Then find exactly where the data is stored, government agency vs manufacturer, and then make action to correct the data. I feel i was at danger operating the vehicle with tires filled to 33 psi and i would feel the same way if someone else operated the vehicle in the same conditions.

The key gets stuck in the ignition cant turn the car off been hoping on for a week k ow

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.

Unable to remove key to turn off vehicle, vehicle was in park position. Vw was towed to vw dealership

The horn stopped working while driving and trying to warn another vehicle that was coming out of a driveway towards my vehicle. The vehicle is only 4 years old.the dealer told me it was a faulty horn but i was charged to have it replaced since it must be working to pass inspection. Without a horn there is no warning for other motorists or pedestrians. Other jetta owners are also having this issue as i noticed online.

The key won't come out of the ignition. I have now broken both sets of keys.. And still no recall. 11 pages of i broke my key in my ignition and still no recall. Absurd.

Ignition switch housing susceptible to heat and key will not turn in high temperatures. 100 part and 2.5 hours at 190/hour in labor requested by vw. Problem started around 60k and has progressively gotten worse. Part not designed to withstand normal car heat.

There is an active recall on our jetta related to the micro switch. When we took our car in to volkswagen of marietta to have the 90,000 mile service done, we stated that we wanted the recall repair done as well. The service provider first told us he couldn't look up the recall by the vin, and then when we went to pick up the car, he stated that there was no open recall on it.

Can not remove key from ignition. Extremely difficult.

Vehicle ac no longer works.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off engine.

The key was stuck in the ignition and not allowing the vehicle to turn off properly

The key got stuck in the ignition , not allowing the vehicle toturn off properly.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning on and off the engine.

The ignition key was difficult to pull out, the car was difficult to shut off; then the key was difficult to turn; now the key is not turning and the steering wheel is locked up.

Horn has completely gone out, entire horn needs replacing.

My 2013 jetta has 37,000 miles, just out of warranty. I drove to my daughters and put my car in park and the key was locked in the ignition. I couldnt turn the car off or get the key out. I called a volkswagen dealer and asked if there was a trick to getting my key out of the ignition so i could turn my car off. The lady at the dealer laughed and said yes there is a trick ill transfer you to the service department. The man in the service department informed me that this is a common issue and how to jiggle the key and turn it back and forth and should work. It worked when i got home. Last night i went to grocery store and same thing my car wouldnt turn off the key was locked. I tried the method that the service man told me to do and still wouldnt turn off. I drove the car to the volkswagen dealership and explained what was happening and they attempted to turn my car off and they couldnt. They sent me home with a rental and took my car into the service garage. For all i know its still running. So this is a common problem with volkswagen and they fail to recall this ignition and make the car owners responsible for the cost of the part and the labor to install. The ignition should last the life of the vehicle.

The autolock door system fails to unlock the rear left door. A peson in the rear left seat position can not exit the door in case of emergency. There is no way that the left rear door lock can be bypassed. The problem was reported to vw of america on 10/17/18 (1 800 822-8987). The defective locking mechanism has been intermitantly malfunctioning for at least 6 months

This vehicle got spontaneous combustion (fire) from the left-front hood while driving to work. The car was totaled due to this problem.

Ignition key becomes stuck in the on position. Car is running and can not be shut off.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off engine when i park

Repeat occurrence key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine. New ignition was replace less than two years, and the same issue occurred and in need of new ignition again.

I was driving to work sober, clear weather, with no vehicles in front of me on an interstate (wide open space), when my sunroof exploded sending glass everywhere.it sounded like a bomb detonated.i pulled over and noticed my sunroof was destroyed and warped outward, almost in a concave shape.i called the nearest vw dealership to ask about recalls and they stated no, while insisting road debris hit my car.i know this to be patently false as i had no vehicles in front of me and was not distracted.i researched a class action lawsuit online with my car's model year being viable.i want to report that this is indeed a major safety hazard that is expensive with a deductible, rental, missed work, etc., and vw should be held liable.

After pulling out of a parking lot onto a main road at about 25-30mph the passenger front door flew open while driving and wouldn't latch.i took the car to the dealership where i purchased the vehicle and they diagnosed it to be a failed door latch.after fixing the passenger door latch, they proceeded to drive the car out of their garage and the driver's door latch failed with the same problem.the car spends most of it's life inside of a garage and is meticulously taken care of. I just turned 60,000 on the odometer the day prior to this happening.

I checked my vehicle into valet services, while trying to park my car the valet was unable to remove the key from the ignition.they were unable to find me therefore my car was running for 2 hours.

The key was stuck in the ignition and not allowing the vehicle to turn off properly.

Ignition key will stick in lock for no known reason, key will not turn at all , it feels as if it is mechanically locked in the ignition, added some graphite to ignition lock no difference noted, have been stuck in parking areas and other places until key was able to un-stick. Very frustrating, this is an intermittent problem, this happens when stationary and only when turn "off" ignition.. Very similar to other complaints on this site. Has happened approx 100 times

Cspc:my 2013 vw jetta caught on fire withoutany warnings. There was not overheating or any other signs that it was going to go in flames. Allthe warning systems seemed to be working, but it still didn't show any signs of problems with the electric wiring or anything else. *dt

I was driving and my car stayed going at the speed i was driving it would not exhilarate or brake it stayed frozen for a couple of minutes

Key gets stuck in ignition and cannot turn vehicle off and remove.

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine. Also when trying to start the vehicle, the key gets stuck and will not turn. Happens when vehicle is stationary and parked - whether trying to start or turn off the engine.

Ignition switch: the key has gotten stuck multiple times in the on position in our 2013 volkswagen jetta ignition..a quick web search demonstrates my family is not alone in this issue.a carguru forum discussion (:http://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t41581_ds528745) goes on at length about it. A complaints.com comment also mentions this problem.: (http://www.carcomplaints.com/volkswagen/jetta/2012/accessories-interior/ignition_switch_problems.shtml) a simple web search turns up lots of ignition switch problems in vw's. This is a safety hazard especially if you cant get your key to turn to the off position, and some other part fails like the brakes or the accelerator.i urge there to be a recall.it seems to affect multiple makes and models. Additionally this should not be something that costs a car owner 1000$ + to fix.

Key gets stuck in ignition and i can't turn off the engine. The car is parked while i'm trying to turn off the ignition to stop the engine.

Key can't turn ignition on and key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine

While traveling at highway speeds through higher elevations northbound on hwy 101 north of ukiah, ca, i heard a loud bang. It sounded like a gunshot. Immediately after glass started raining out of the sunroof visor vents (thankfully it was closed). I drove for another 1/4 mile or so until there was a safe place to turn off. Upon closer inspection there was one large hole in the glass, shatter fractures throughout the entire pane, and the edges of the glass were angled up indicating an outward explosion of the glass. Both my passenger and i were covered in bits of glass and it was just everywhere. We cleaned up what we could and proceeded home for the remaining 10 hours until i could drop it off at the dealer the next day.

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine.

While getting my brake pads changed, the mechanic was unable to turn the ingintion switch to off while the key was still in the vehicle after being in park on their lift.

The ignition will not shut off.the key will not release to the off position.the key has to be wiggle, pulled, or whatever necessary to turn off.after or up up to 3 hours the car finally releases the key to the off position.this happens only when we have to remove the key to shut off the car. This happens every time we need to shut off the car.

The key gets stuck in the ignition, either when turning on or turning off. This happened before at 19000 miles and the part was replaced. It began exhibiting the same problems early this year and has continued to worsen to the point of it being stuck for longer periods of time. It happens when stationary, either preparing to turn the car on or off. Ive been stranded away from home while trying to get it to turn. Sometimes it does relatively easy and other times it seems like it isn't going to budge. I have no other keys or even a key chain attached. Its just the ignition key.

The key is getting stuck in the ignition not allowing to properly turn off the vechile.

There was a legal settlement between the us and vw in 2016.this settlement provided mandates upon the company to perform repairs and give warranty to owners of vw vehicles, so the vehicles are in a safe and emissions responsible manner. This settlement info can be seen at www.vw.courtsettlement.com the main part that applies to our situation is:we purchased a 2013 vw jetta tdi on 12/30/20 with 179,109 miles.prior to that, it had the emissions modification done to it. We purchased vehicle from the original owner, and we are the 2nd owner, per vin report our purchase was the 1st resale transaction done after the modification completed we purchased the vehicle in good faith and for purposes other than resale we purchased the vehicle due to the warranty. The vehicle currently should have a 4 year 48,000 mile court ordered warranty starting 12/30/20 and at 179,109 miles. If followed by court order, this warranty is good until 12/30/24 or 227,109 miles. Since this vehicle was purchased 6 months 14,000 miles into warranty, it still has 34,000 miles or good until 12/30/2024. Vw has refused to honor there court ordered warranty. This potentially is putting a vehicle that is in need of safety repairs at risk of a danger on roadway by not honoring warranty. Term of agreement at www.vwcourtsettlement.com not only are they not fulfilling there obligations as they should under the terms of settlement, they are egregiously allowing vehicles to be driven around with clogged filters emitting more pollution that they should, when they have since agreed to fix them as they were rigged unlawfully to settle the vw corporate violations within the us they should immediately honor this warranty with this vw owner and recompense me for warranty related expenses they incurred of approx $750.the vin for this vehicle is 3vwll7aj0dm[xxx] one owner of the vehicle is [xxx]contact info [xxx] [xxx], [xxx], [xxx] [xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of in

Key stuck in ignition, car won't turn off.

I have a 2013 volkswagen jetta se pzev 2.5 it has 58,000 miles. The ac compressor went out now still paying off car i also am paying for an new ac compressor on a 3 year old car that is 1600 to fix. The car mirror plastic piece on driver side door falls offand loosens while driving.also while driving a rattling noise is heard it sounds like chains it's from the roof of the car or where the shift stick to park, drive etc . And the passenger doors make noises like its loose while opening and closing doors. There's a jolt feeling while driving like transmission jolts. The car while turn it on makes a humming unpleasant noise like its missing fluid.

Key will not come out of the ignition

2013 jetta se with 79k on it and the key is stuck in the ignition - it's at the dealer now and i'm sure from what i've read it's going to be rather costly to fix a problem that vw is aware of and not willing to recall. I have had many cars and never encountered anything like this - absurd.

Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.

This is an update to complaint number 10537724the service bulletin id is 01-13-14the nhtsa id number is 10052336i apologize for any confusion. Complaint number 10537724 should read using the above service bulletin id and nhtsa id number.

I was trying to merge onto highway traffic andwhen i pushed on the accelerator the car was unresponsive. It created an unsafe situation where i had to slam on the brakes and let the traffic pass by, then put the car in manual shift so that i could accelerate enough to merge with traffic.the inability to control the speed of the vehicle due to no response from the engine happens usually around speeds of 40 miles an hour.i have noticed that the car will be in 6 gear at very low speeds and fails to down shift when the gas is pressed. This results in a lose of power and does not allow me to safely maneuver the vehicle in emergency and non-emergency situations.

Epc light comes on and off. Vehicle loses all throttle, no power. Engine is on but electrical and gas pedal no affect. Shuts down. Drive 10-20mins shuts down. Hazard

Car jolts on freeway. Driver side mirror protector fell off. As a result of trying to grab fallen off piece over extended arm injury. Due to extending arm out window

I have had multiple experiences as outlined incomplaint id 10535696. I have an open case with vw corp, case number 130565794. I have asked for the nhtsa service bulletin 100552336, service to be performed on my car, as i continue to have near accident misses due to the misfire (which happens when the ac is on) and the non-responsive gas petal (when the ac is off). Vw corp is trying not to acknowledge your service bulletin and refuses to perform the service to my car. They stated that they are not aware of the contents of the service bulletin. I have informed them and have documented on myservice invoice the service bulletin number and my complaint number. So if they were not aware before, they are now, but still deny me the service outlined in your service bulletin id 100552336. They have had my car in their possession since the 23rd, this is my second visit and i now have a case open with vw corp (see case number above). I continue to be unable to safely maneuver the vehicle in emergency and non-emergency driving situations.

I was driving and my car stayed going at the speed i was driving it would not exhilarate or brake it stayed frozen for a couple of minutes

A year ago the vehicle would not accelerate while driving and would then come to a stop. It was taken to the dealership where they said it was a wiring issue.in the past year the vehicle will turn off when sitting in traffic or at a light.car will not detect key fob even when new batteries have been used. Car will say no key.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that there was a delay when the accelerator pedal was depressed and it would engage without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than three times and they indicated that this was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times. The failure mileage was not available.

I continue to experience the issue outlined in complaint number [xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c (b)(6)., unsafe accelerator lag gas pedal delay no response, from my vw jetta. I am trying to get a copy of the service bulletin, tsb#01-13-14, nhtsa#10052336. Edmunds directs you to all data diy, alldata.com, to get tsbs. All datadiy does not have my vehicle, 2013 volkswagen jetta, in their drop down list and as you will see in the attached email "they do not have that information in there database yet". So i asked them for the tsb 01-13-14, aka nhtsa id 10052336, from the 2012 jetta database, since this tsb# seems to be associated with most 2008-2013 models of vw jetta, golf, rabbit, beetle, eos, cc, passat, gti, r32, tiguan, touareg and the 2011 touareg hybrid. The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While driving 35 mph, the contact attempted to activate the front driver's side window switch, but it failed to function. As a result, the window remained in the downward position. The contact also stated that the window switch previously failed to depress intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

Takata recall - i am just giving notice that my airbags may be faulty and may need a replacement.thank you very much

The windshield wiper motor is loud and sometimes doesn't work at all. Very intermittent.

It's freezing outside.the windshield wipers don't work in the morning when the temperature is low. For our safety we not able to drive the car. Please help.

The wiper blades motor stops working in low temperatures. It has nothing to do with icy blades or frozen snow, it simply does not work when temperatures are very low. Once temperatures go up, they start working again. This is a safety hazard and i can't drive without wiper blades when it snows or rains in low temperature. Vw dealers say they are not responsible for the motors failing and it's us the car owners who have to pay about $600 plus $100 diagnostic for the replacement of the motors. I have read on the internet that many vw cars have the same problem.think vw should recall all cars with this problem and give us a solution for free.

Sunroof shattered while driving in the country, no other cars nearby, nothing overhead, no apparent reason, it just blew up throwing glass everywhere.luckily my 5 and 6 year old were not in the backseat :)

Driving home on i-4 the evening of sep 10, 2014 and heard a loud pop/gunshot sound from the sunroof, then started hearing glass debris blowing off the car. It was quite a shock to both myself and girlfriend in the moment. Luckily, i had the sunroof interior cover closed so it did not fall into the car while we were driving. I did not stop as i wasn't sure if it was safe, but after arriving home about 8-10 mins later i inspected the car noticing that the glass was not shattered in, but pushed outward like the impact came from the inside. There was a huge hole in the center with chards of glass inside and the entire sunroof has cracks throughout. Not sure whether to file a claim or go to the dealership for further inspection. I was driving about 65mph on the interstate, so there wasn't a possibility for vandalism. The temperature was in the low 80's.

The contact owns a 2013 volkswagen jetta. While the contact's husband was driving 75 mph, the sun roof shattered without warning. There were no injuries. The contact called maita toyota of sacramento (2500 auburn blvd, sacramento, ca 95821, (916)-265-5629) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the extended warranties were expired and the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,805.
