My vw jettas sensor for the airbag constantly comes on when i start the car telling me that there is a problem with the airbag and it will not deploy. Problem first started back in 2008(bought the car brand new) and when i contacted vw for repair they told me that none others had this issue and they couldn't help me. When i started doing research i've found there are hundreds if not thousands of people saying the same thing about their vw airbag sensor is not working properly and that the airbag won't deploy in a crash.

Passenger front and side airbag sensors went bad. Will cost 1200.00 to fix both. Driving and light came on.

My vehicle has approximately 165k miles. Right at about 120k miles, the transmission started shifting harshly. At times, the transmission would get stuck at 3rd gear, and the transmission indicator panel lights up prnd all at once. This usually happens when driving hills, or stop and go driving. My airbag light is also on constantly. I've had the issue fixed previously, however, the issue has returned. Lastly, my passenger side door does not like all the time. I've tried to remotely and manually lock the door; however, it is not working properly.

Even after such a big crash air bag did not deploy. Vehicle was totaled.i am not seriously injured but have severe pain in the neck and shoulders.i am the lucky one that i survived with out any major injuries but too worried about the airbags because lot of peoples out there driving the same model.please consider this has high priority. I have pictures of the car that i can send in case you need them.

The airbag light came on one day while driving. Pulled over and shut car off then restarted and light stayed on. Looked light up in manual and it states there is a problem with the airbag system and they may not deploy in an accident. This concerns me as a major safety issue. Secondly my passenger side door lock fails to lock or unlock intermittently. As a result i have to leave my car unlocked at times since there is no way to lock the door manually. Also is a safety concern if the door won't unlock in a crash situation.

Airbag indicator light has come on and for the most part remains on. For short periods of time the light will go off, but inevitably, it always turns back on. This is very concerning and seems to be a systemic issue with this make and model year. Many report airbags not deploying in the event of an accident. Volkswagen needs to do the right thing and issue a recall before they have a pr nightmare by putting profit margins over the lives of their consumers.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the anti lock braking system had malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired and the defect was remedied. The contact also stated that the front passenger seat had malfunctioned. The dealer diagnosed that the air bag system was defective and needed repairing. The vehicle was repaired.no further information was available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 3,100.

The air bag lighy was coming on and off then it just stayed on , so it never goes out, everytime i get in my car and start it up the air bag light comes on and stays on.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta.the contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph on wet roadways, the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a dirt embankment.the air bags failed to deploy.the contact sustained spine and nerve injuries.a police report was filed of the incident.the vehicle was destroyed. The vin was not available.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 19,000.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing but the vehicle was unable to be diagnosed and the contact was advised that the air bag possibly would not deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

I would like to file a complaint regarding my air bag warning indicator light remaining on due to a faulty seat belt.i recently took my car to the vw dealership to have my car service and was told that the problem i am having with my air bag light was not included in the recent air bag recalled vw issued.i was told my the technician that my air bag warning light is on because my entire driver's seat belt needs to be replaced.i am hoping that vw would look into this problem because my seat belt works perfectly fine and there is nothing i could have done to cause this damage.

On june 29 2012 airbag indicator light came. Vehicle was taken to vw and they stated that it was the wire harness under the passenger seat. Since vehicle wa not under warranty i had to pay $375.00 to get it repaired (or so i thought) july 17th 2013 airbag light returned. On july 22nd 2013 i took car in to vw this time they had my car for two days and diagnosed the problem to be the airbag igniter. I questioned the fact that they didn't catch that the first time and they replied that the scanner didn't catch it(yeah right) the service guy tells me that its $500.00 for the part and 8 hours of labor, ouch!!! are you kidding me that is a safety issue and should be covered regardless. I contacted vwoa and i'm still waiting for a response. I refuse to pay that money for a safety matter that is clearly a manufacture defect. I will never again buy vw. I'm seeking repair expense paid by vwoa and a refund for the harness since it was not the problem.

Recall -engine and engine coolingi have a 07 jetta 2.0l. 2 months ago i noticed a gas smell when i took my oil cap off i noticed there was a lot of steam/smoke & i could tell that's where the smell was coming from. There was nothing visible other than the steam/gas vapor. The coolant level never moves. I was only getting 15 miles to the gallon because it was leaking into my engine. On 7/13/19 the engine seized (locked) up while i was driving it. I was driving my wife to work with our 5 year old son. I had just turned on the street of her work going 10 miles an hour & it felt like my car just died. I couldn't even get the engine to turn over. I had to get my vehicle towed to a repair shop. Which is when i found out that the engine seized. I have absolutely no transportation now. (recall faulty air bags my car is miles away at the repair shop, so i can't take a picture of the air bag light but it turned on about a week ago and hasn't shut off. My concern is that this is something that a repair shop can not fix/ its going to be so expensive that i can't afford to fix it. It has faulty air bags that can just go off while i'm driving! safety bags are a 'must have' & it is illegal to sell/produce any non safe vehicle! i seen that volkswagen company made a hand full of recalls on this vehicle over the last 8 years. The previous owner kept the car in a garage & started it daily he just never checked for recalls. Parts on this car are compatible with the 06-09 jettas& sportwagons & he had replaced parts. I'm unsure which ones were replaced. My vehicle falls under the category of a vw jetta sedan. I'm having all of the same recall issues that the jetta is recalling for. & the horn does not work when it's parked. Your company posted the recalls for all of the same problems that i'm having with this vehicle!recall no. 40j2/s4. Recall no. 20i4/u1. Recall no. Q8.

Takata recallair bag light

I had issues with the fuel system and air bag light on just started. But dealer carmax did not tell about any recall for the fuel system few years ago. But i just seen that in your system. And car max changed me a lot of money for the fuel system being replace around feb/2016. So can some please help me with this issues. And wanted to will carmax be able get reimburse for them thanks

I bought my car last year 02/15/2007, its a volkswagen jetta wolfsburg edition yr. 2007.. Here are the incidents with my car:1) 08/06/ 2007- horn is not working. According to vw service men they found a faulty spiral spring via gff test plan r&i driver airbag, steering wheel, column trim and steering column electronics control module r&r spiral spring and performed basic settings during road test and ckl'd ok.2) 08/06/ 2007- airbag light indicator is on. According to vw servicemen they found a fault for the driver side airbag igniter resistance too high after unplugging the component and replacing it within a known good one found that the value in the measure value blocks didn't change and checking the steering wheel control moudleconnectors to see if they were damaged they figured it could only be the spiral spring that is faulty. Ordered spiral spring. 3)11/08/ 2007- performed recall q-8 / inspect headlights 4) 01/08/2008- break is making noise.. According to vw service men they checked for noise from brakes, found rear brake pads were metal to metal. Replaced rear brake pads and rotors. Found e-brakes cables adjusted too tight adjusted cables. Found rear calipers dragging. Replaced bad calipers and performed test drive.4) 01/19/ 2008- when i turned on my airconditioner on last saturday, 01/19/ 2008 a smoked is coming out through my rite rear tire and it smells like something is burning. I called the vw service they said i can come in on monday anytime to have itchecked. I did come in yesterday monday, january 21, 2008 to have it checked one of the service men test drive the car with me but then there is no smoke coming out anymore so what he advised me to do is just take my car with me again and if it happens again then come back. He just look around my car and the hood and didn't find anything wrong.my concerns is i don't think am safe driving my car anymore because i don't know what's going happen next, and i think my car will be considered as a lemon car.

Airbag sensors malfunctioning at least twice on daughter's jetta. Just had the faulty wiring under the driver's seat repaired and, a few days later, light is back on with yet another diagnosis for another issue with the crash sensor, potentially. See on this feed that many others have the same issue. Why is vw not issuing a lifetime recall?

On july of 2013, the vehicle was taken in to open road vw after reaching out to nhtsa and vw of amercia for assistance with getting the car repaired due to the warranty being expired. The vehicle had a safety issue with the airbags that would have impaired the airbag from deploying if involved in an accident. Vw repaired the vehicle at no charge.on sept of 2014 in the early morning the air fault indicator came on again. I immediately contacted open road vw and explained the recurring issue. I spoke to [xxx] who stated to me that there was nothing vw could do since the vehicle is out of warranty and that they were not going to repair the vehicle even if it was a safety issue not brought upon wear and tear. She then asked me to call vw customer care center 1-800-822-8987 and spoke to a [xxx] who stated to me in a sarcastic manner that if it concerned me that much i should get it repaired because they were not going to stand by it this time. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and he refused. I then asked for his complete name and he refused to provide his last name. He then put me on hold for ten minutes and attempted to find a supervisor to no success. I also asked for a supervisor name and number and he refused to provide that or transfer to anyone that could.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My crash sensor's went off for no reason. There was no accident at all. This is causing an airbag fault light to be on in my car and from what i understand, the airbags will not work now if the light is on. The previous owner of my car had this same fault fixed (with only about 20,000 miles on the odo). There are numerous complaints out there about these same faults on the same cars (mkv jetta, rabbit/gti). There needs to be a recall to fix this since it is a safety hazard!

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact drove over an uneven road surface, which was raised about 2 inches from the ground, and the front driver and passenger side air bags inadvertently deployed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that there were aftermarket shocks that could have caused an impact with the sub frame. The technician advised that the impact could have caused the air bags to deploy but did not guarantee that it was the cause of the deployment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the cost of diagnostic testing or repairs would not be covered. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 51,608.

2007 volkswagen jetta had a rattling noise in the windshield. Consumer states that the noise grew in intensity and annoyance.he tried to find the location of the noise and lightly tapped the windshield and it cracked.*njthe consumer stated after the windshield cracked, the air bag light illuminated. The dealer claimed a rock may have hit the windshield, however the consumer stated that was not the case. The dealer also stated the air bag light illuminating had nothing to do with the cracked windshield. The dealer fixed the air bag problem, but they did not fix the windshield.

A light came onthe dashboard with the icon of the airbag.i looked it up and found that it was a warning light telling me that the sensors in the seat that detect someone sitting in the seat were faulty and could result in airbags not deploying in the event of an impact. Other owners of vw jettas from 2007 and years before and after have experienced this.there has been no recall althoughmany owners, including myself, think there should be.

I wanted to get mine call airbag check for the airbag recall. Because mine son drive this call every day. But it not coming up your system for the recall with vin. And it need to be added because mine airbag light coming on now at all this time. Please add it please thanks

I've had to replace the headlights multiple times due to faulty electrical wiring inside the headlight unit that could have easily resulted in fires. Airbag fault hindering usage

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. While having the vehicle serviced for routine maintenance, the contact was informed that the rear brakes were completely worn and rubbing metal on metal. The vehicle was repaired. Three weeks later while driving approximately 20 mph the contact was involved in a crash in which the air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and the contact suffered minor injuries. The vehicle was towed to an insurance lot and was not examined for the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 38,600.updated 06/02/11 the consumer stated the vehicle was totaled. Updated 11/28/11

The front and side air bag on the drivers sideis inoperable due to a wiring problem under the drivers seat.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. While driving various speeds, the air bag indicator illuminated intermittently. An independent mechanic was made aware of the failure and performed a diagnostic that determined that the passenger air bag and the rear seat air bags were faulty. In addition, while the vehicle was on an incline, a burning odor entered the cabin of the vehicle. An unknown volkswagen dealer in bennington, vermont was made aware of the failure, but could not determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.

I would like to file a complaint regarding my air bag warning indicator light remaining on due to a faulty air bag. I took my vehicle to the local vw dealership to have it serviced and was told the problem i am having with my air bag light was not included in the recent air bag recall issued by vw. I was told by the technician that my air bag warning light is on because my entire passenger seat airbag including the harness must be replaced in order to be operable. I was also told the airbag system would not work w/o repair. This failure occurred on my vehicle which is 5 years old and has 35,286 miles. It is not covered by vw because the warranty exp'd at 3 yrs/36k miles. My vehicle has far less mileage average than a vehicle newer than it is. This safety equipment failure should not have occurred on a vehicle this new unless there was something wrong with it. I did not do anything to cause this failure to occur. Further, i very seldom ride with others so i see no plausible reason as to why this failure would have occurred in reference to the seat used least in my vehicle. I was quoted a repair price of $900 to have it repaired and i feel vw should be responsible for this amount not me. Three days ago i contacted vw customer care and have been waiting for someone to call me back regarding whether or not vw will pay the cost of this repair. In the meantime, i am without the use of my vehicle as i am scared to drive it in fear that i can get into an accident and the airbags will not deploy.

I was involved in a side crash and the driver air bag, dash airbag and passenger air bag all deployed.the dashboard airbag deployed with such force, it broke the rear view mirror off of the windshield and crushed my hand between it and the driver airbag, which broke all the bones in my hand and i had to have pins placed in my hand.

2007 vw jetta - major front end damage and air bags did not deploy.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta.while driving approximately 45 mph over railroad tracks, the contact heard a sudden loud noise.immediately following, the frontal air bags deployed without warning.the insurance company was notified and inspected the vehicle.the vehicle will be repaired.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 144,000.

Contact owns a 2007 vw jetta.current mileage was 30,573 and failure mileage was 27,000.contact stated since the purchase of the vehicle the air bag light would flash on the dash board.contact took the vehicle to the dealer and repaired the seat belt as well as a sensor for the air bag. The next morning the air bag light came on and so the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer.the dealer did a diagnostic test and did some more repairs and 3 week later the air bag light came back on. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they replace a sensor in the door.one week after the sensor was replaced in the door the air bag light has come on once again.contact has not taken the vehicle back to the dealer at this time.contact feels this vehicle is unsafe and that the air bags are unreliable.jo

My wife was driving her 2007 vw jetta when she was t-boned from a gmc suv, approx. Speed of gmc was 40 mph and approx speed of jetta was 45 mph. The jetta was struck at a 90 degree angle directly into the drivers side door. The impact was enough that my wife needed to be removed from her car with the jaws of life. The steering column airbag deployed however the multiple side and lumbar airbags did not deploy. Had these deployed her injures would had been much less severe. Both cars are being totaled by the insurance companies. This vehicle was purchased specifically because of the safety features, now after contacting vw, mindy prentice regional consultant volkswagen customer care is trying to tell me that the this isn't the type of crash that would trigger side airbags. However after talking to multiple dealers in the area as well as going back to my initial suspicion it seems that the side airbags most certainly should have deployed.

Rear driver's side lock failed with no indications that it did not work. We thought the door was locking, either via the key-fob or internal locking, but it was not and we have no idea how long this was the case before the dealer pointed it out. There is no way to lock the door manually. This left our car open for theft, and endangered a younger child we sometimes transport as the door was not able to be locked.

My crash sensor's went off for no reason. There was no accident at all. This is causing an airbag fault light to be on in my car and from what i understand, the airbags will not work now if the light is on. Ignition switch bushing.there is a nylon or plastic bushing in the key ignition switch to start the car that can become dislodged and prevent the key from going into the pathway.car cannot be started for this reason.must be towed.vw has told us that this happens frequently to the vw jettas.note: there may be other models affected if they use the same type of ignition switch.repairs will cost ~$600 for installation of a new ignition switch.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start without warning. In addition, the vehicle shook and previously made abnormal noises. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (timmons volkswagen of long beach, 3940 cherry ave, long beach, ca, 90807) where it was diagnosed that the starter failed, the brake booster vacuum was leaking oil, the driver and passenger outer cv boots were torn/worn, and the sway bar link was fractured. All the parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 50,200.

The electric door locks on my 2007 jetta failed to lock or unlock using the electric lock buttons in the doors or by using the remote. Only the driver's side rear door responds to any lock action. The driver's door only locks and unlocks with the key in the lock. This was not due to dead batteries in the remote control. This is a commonly reported problem (as observed by online reports by other owners) and could lead to safety concerns if a person is unable to unlock a door to exit the vehicle, or personal property concerns if a person cannot lock their door.

Power door lock system failure. Can not lock entire doors.key got stuck and could not remove key from ignition.had to call a tow-truck, pay ($350) and have taken to dealer. Dealer recommended replacing entire power door systems.cost me about $450...went ahead and approved replacement.$350 + $450 = $800.power lock failed again...sep-oct 2012.dealer again recommends replacing entire power lock system.what????no recall has be implemented or set....

I bought my car and since day one the car had a faulty clock. The clock runs super fast, it runs ahead of time by 5 hours in a matter of a week. I have contacted dealer and vw of america and nothing has been done; it has been 3 months now and still no repair.

No precipitating events. While driving, engine cuts out followed immediately by battery light coming on, have 30 seconds-60 seconds to get off the road to avoid collision. Car does not restart. Has happened 4x total so far, twice while driving 60mph on highway. Dealership has each time replaced fried fuse to fuel pump relay. After the 3rd time they replaced the module that controls the central electrical system (i was told this module had been upgraded 9x by vw since my 07 vehicle). This time they are replacing the fuel pump & sending me home w/extra fuses & showing me how to replace them so i am not stranded on the highway (!) i do not have the old parts from them. I have been very fortunate to walk away uninjured due to quick reaction & plain luck even in rush hour. This is a 2007 vw jetta, wolfsburg edition purchased new on 2-8-07, maintenance followed exact, fuel tank kept at 1/2-full. Problems began @28,608k now at 41,817k.

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine.

Car jerks, one fan do not work, oil leak, wind shield washer and coolant system.brought car from drive time in febuary 2013.i've noticed these problems when driving and parking.the car over heats as well.i also notified drive-time and was told to get another diagnostic test.i did not have the money for another.

I was driving to work and i felt something hot on my back and a burning smell. I pulled over to look and i had two burn marks in my seat with a big brown burn mark down the side along with it burning my clothes. I immediately turned the seat warmer off.

While shopping on black friday and intermittently since then the left rear door won't lock.having a small child that is in the back seat, this is a safety issue for our family. It only takes one pull of the handle to open the door.

On september 21, 2015, at approximately 8:00 am in the morning, my seat warmers had burnt out. I was on my way to work; it was a chilly morning so i turned the seat warmer on to 4. The highest it goes up to is 5. Soon after, i felt it was a bit too hot. When i looked down, i saw smoke! i could not stop anywhere so i immediately turned off the seat warmer. I remained calm until i arrived to a stop light. When i looked behind me i noticed 3 holes in my seat. Two little ones and one big one. You can see the burnt wires. I was so angry by the time i got to work. I drove over to vw nemer in latham, ny to have them check it out and make sure there was no engine problem. The service rep. Was not sympathetic and not very polite. He kept saying i should have called and i should have made an appointment. I told him i was going to stay there and wait to find out the results. He came back to tell me that the seat warmer burnt out and that was all. He also tried to get me to fix my brakes (i did not come in for brakes). He told me i would need new wiring and seat covers (leather) to fix it. I had an extended warranty and had to pay a $100 deductible. I am not paying that deductible. However, it does not matter, because for some reason my warranty expired, but my car has not reached 100,000 miles yet... I have written a complaint to vw demanding some type of resolution. They need to check their cars very thoroughly. I read that there was another seat warmer incident that happened in canada and vw did not take responsibility for it. I am afraid to turn on any heating system in the car now, because it too might fail and shock me. I have pictures to show my torn seats. I can send them if needed.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the key failed to turn when placed into the ignition switch, causing the steering wheel to lock up. The vehicle was not yet taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.

The vehicle was in motion with the seat heater on.i noticed a burning smell and then a burning sensation.by the time i was able to safely pull over, there was a hole in the right side of the driver's seat cover, exposing the wiring and foam.my coat and clothing were burned, as well as my back.there is also evidence of overheating/burning in additional locations of the seat cover, but it only burned through in one location.i turned off the seat heater and drove to the dealership where i was instructed to discontinue use of the seat heater.this occurred on 3/8/19 with less than 95k miles on the car.

As i was driving the vehicle the gear shifted on its own from drive into neutral. Brought the vehicle to a stop. I placed the vehicle back into drive. I drove a short distance and the car will now only go from drive to neutral. The key is stuck in the ignition. Took it to the vw dealership and was told the gear shift box is defective but no longer covered under warranty. Contacted vw corp and opened a case with the regional case manager. Still waiting to hear from them. I was told at the dealer that it wasn't safe to drive as it is. When i asked since it's not safe to drive will they be replacing it at no cost? stated no since they have no recall under my vin # and no longer under warranty.

Reference 10959049 additional information.on 04/01/2016 had the ignition replaced in the vheicle at the dealership.vehicle would not accept the key after being parked, however all lights, blinkers and indicators (door open dings) , radio functioned as if the key was in the ignition and vehicle was running.vehicle towed to dealership for ignition replacement.

Once the vehicle is parked, i can't remotely nor manually lock the rear driver side door.basically, three doors will lock, but the rear driver side door remains unsecure.the alarm doesn't audible, but does activate.this problem happened many hundreds of miles ago, intermittently but has cometo a point were i can't secure my vehicle is not 100 % secured.

The vehicle caught fire in the engine bay by the front driver side headlamp. The low beam of the headlight kept goingoff and on prompting a broken headlight or headlamp bulb signal on dash board. After replacing the bulb the issue was not resolved it continued periodically for about one month . While driving i smelled burning plastic after which i noticed flames from the front driver side headlamp. I pulled over opened the hood noticing that the front driver side headlamp was melting and on fire. Within two minutes of pulling over the engine bay was completely melted . The fire spread to the interior ' melting it.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the sun roof opened independently, the check engine warning light illuminated and numerous warning lights illuminated sporadically. The rear driver's side door could only be opened from the interior of the vehicle and the anti-theft system would only function intermittently. The contact spoke with several dealers and was informed that the failure was most likely caused by an electrical failure. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure and current mileages were 69,000.

I drive a 2007 jetta wolfsberg. In april 2010 i was leaving for work and the car wouldn't start. My husband went out and it started for him. No warning lights were on. A week later the car's engine just died while traveling 60mph on the freeway and would not start. Towed to dealership where they checked all the wiring harnesses and overlaid a wire. One day after receiving the car back i had trouble starting it again. Reported this to dealership service. Two days later the engine died while driving down a residential street and would not start. No warning lights were on. Towed back to service where they had a vw engineer look at the car. They ended up replacing the computer in the car. All service was covered under warranty. I have not had any problems since the computer was replaced. I am reporting this because of an article my aunt sent to me. The article said the government is investigating the same problem with other vw models (stalling, loss of power and engine).

Both back passenger doors no longer lock. Even with child lock on they open freely. Having children in the back seat is a huge problem as they can open the doors at any time. There is no warning the locks have failed. I've researched online and this seems to be a known issue.

My 2007 vw jetta with 37k on it started to indicate on the dash cluster panel that the door is closed when its open. The vehicle also automatically locks the door on its own once i have exited the vehicle. I believe this is a safety issue that can lock my children inside the car, can affect other area of the car and can catch fire while on the road. This issue has been discovered on various jetta, gti, etc and vw has done nothing about it.on 7/3/2014 @ 10am, vw of america was contacted and were not helpful and did not want to assist or stand by their product die to the warranty being expired. Open road vw of manhattan was contact for information and they confirmed that they have seen this frequently on the above mentioned models and that they estimate the jobs to be from $700 and up. This looks, sounds and is a factory defect. Please assist towards this issue.

Car shuts off and battery light comes on immediately put on emergency flashers so i will not get hit from behind both times i have been stopped at a traffic signal i put the car in park and have been able to start the car again to get to a safe placei do not feel safe driving the car do to the fact it could stop at anytime first i took my car to my certified vw specialist he ran diagnostics kept my car for three days drove it but was unable to reproduce took my car back then again the next week same thing happenedi heard a click car shut down and battery light came onthis time i did not feel safe to even get it into the dealership so i called a tow truck to have it towed to the dealership. Feeling frustrated 2nd week renting a car waiting to hear from the dealership to make thing worse i bought my car new off the show room floor from [xxx] that dealership has since closed down i have noticed cracking if the paint on the hood vehicle has never been in an accident i was told from a body shop that repair work was done to the car probably because it was damaged in shipping and if the cost of repair is not at least 6 percent of the purchase price vw does not have to disclose to customer.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2007 vw jetta wolfsburg: pulled out of vw dealership into an intersection and the engine shut off with no warning. Turned ignition off and back on and the car restarted.got onto the interstate and the car lost power going about 65 mph.gas pedal to floor and no acceleration.removed foot from pedal and pushed again and car started to accelerate again. Exited off interstate and slowed down at intersection to stop at traffic light.engine died and would not restart.car was towed by vw to their service dept. The police were contacted to direct traffic due to the unsafe conditions created by the car stopping in an intersection. These problems occurred during rush hour traffic and we were fortunate not to have been killed or to have caused an accident. The problems occurred on an extremely hot day. The car was at the vw service dept for 12 days and over 600 miles were put on my car by vw.the dealership contacted vw of america to help diagnose the problem. The service dept mgr acknowledged low voltage on the meters he connected to my car and also the ignition would not start for him while he had the car at a gas station. Since they could not exactly re-create the problems that occurred, i did not feel they could assure me the car had been repaired and would be safe to drive. They were "guessing" at the repair. The ignition control module was replaced and i was assured by vw service dept and vw of america that the car was repaired and safe to drive. After driving appx 300 miles, the car stalled again. I have seen similar problems reported on the nhtsa website under various categories for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 jettas.this is a serious problem with the vw jetta and vw of america needs to respond to these complaints. This car should not be allowed on the road. I was told by vw of america that this was an isolated incident.the gm and service dept mgr at the vw dealership told me they had never heard of this problem.

I just recently bought the car not even 6 months ago, certified pre owned, i noticed about a week after having it that two of my doors do not lock at all. Also my head lights stay on 24/7 while my car in turned to the on position. When i'm on the highway the car shakes really bad when i hit 60 mph or higher. This car is a piece and i don't recommend anyone with a child to purchase this car. It is unsafe and unprofessionally designed.

The door lock doesn't work. It does not lock all the doors which can lead to a fatality if my little children open the door by accident. For what i seen this is a manufacture defect in all these vehicles.

Door locks fail to lock.front driver door will lock but all other doors do not lock.alarm will sound off if door is opened but will only work for 1 minute then shut off.this has resulted in an auto burglary at my sons work place parking lot.it also poses a danger to children in back seat if door is opened while car is in motion.safety is at issue when people in the vehicle need to prevent being car jacked or robbed as well.we have researched this issue and have found that there are thousands of complaints on this same issue. What is it going to take to have a recall issued on this vehicle to force the manufacturer to repair these vehicles?

As i was driving 65mph on the highway my car completely shut down.i had no lights, no gas, no anything.i was able to pull off to the side of the road.after about 20 minutes, the car started back up, but i only made it about 1.5 miles before it did it again.vw dealership replaced my entire computer module (j519) and then let me leave the lot.i continued to have trouble starting the car.the dealership replaced the relay for the starter because it was overheating.i am now (oct 2012) having issues with the unlocking of my driver side door.

Car was parked , problem horn continues to sound, fuse had to be taken out.having problem with car interior headliner, pulling away from edges throughout the vehicle

2007 wolfsburg edition jetta: experiencing issues latches/locks/linkages/ first with one door lock (rear left) around sep 2011. Then 2nd door (rear )warranty already passed, the dealer told me that the locks can go bad and need to be replaced, costing $250/$200 each plus labor $100 hr./3 hrs or $300!! for grand ttl almost $800!replacement. Now i already having problem with driver door!!this seems excessive specially vw should address this quality issue with their supplier now and have them fixed at no cost.this is a safety issue drive for work around some not nice neighborhoods, car can't be lock.i have 2 kids and afraid door can open so easily. I hope something is done before we hear really bad news. This is a serious issue as the locks serve as the first line of defense in anti-theft. I searching online and see others with similar issues, i decided to report, i still have issues with lock. Hope people reads and report the issue.i have bought 2 other vw is past and never had this problem.i don't think will buy a fourth vw.

My 2007 wolfsburg jetta just stalled on me last night. The esc lights came on and then the battery light came on and then the engine died. I lost all power and coasted off to the side of the road. I thought it was the battery but all my lights, radio, headlights worked. I tried to start it but the red steering light came on too. I got it towed to the dealership because it should still be under warranty(<4 years, <40,000 miles). Luckily this happened in a residential neighborhood where i was able to safely get out of traffic. If this had happened on the freeway, a more serious accident could have occurred.this car was bought new and has never given me any issues.

My back passenger door doesn't lock, the door latch is out. The diagnostic report states that eventually my drivers door latch is going to go out as well. Two car doors do not lock leaving my car available for possible break ins. Currently can't leave valuable things in my car since it wont lock. Car doors have been acting up, leaving certain doors to open and others not. My passenger front door wont open, and currently only the drivers door opens, this electrical issue changes often and certain doors will lock and the next day it changes again. Called manufacture informed me nothing they can do for me. Called my dealership they told me the same thing. Car currently isn't under warranty, bought it without a warranty. Still making payments and not having a car that will lock and let me in, is an issue.

The contact owned a 2009 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated that the cooling unit air re-circulator would not shut off and would continue to run after the engine was shut off. The owner's manual advised that the vehicle should not be operated with the re-circulator continuously running. The dealer replaced the fan motor and switch panel yet it did not correct the failure. The manufacturer replaced the vehicle with a 2010 volkswagen tiguan. The contact stated once he took possession of the new vehicle, he noticed the vehicle exhibited the exact same failure. The manufacturer advised a failure did not exist in the newer vehicle and did not make any repairs. The contact disagreed with the dealer stating the owner's manual stated otherwise. The failure mileage was approximately 2 miles and the current was unknown.

I've had to replace the headlights multiple times due to faulty electrical wiring inside the headlight unit that could have easily resulted in fires. Airbag fault hindering usage

Speedometer reads incorrectly.when speedometer reads 70 mph, actual travel speed is 65.this is based on my gps in the car.called vw (ref#70260633) and both the dealership and the customer care number said that a 5 mph differential was within sae specifications.not knowing how fast a car is traveling is a accident precursor.driving too slow on the interstate can lead to accidents from the rear, and trying to guess how fast you are going to compensate can lead to excessive speeds.

Speedometer reading at least 10% faster than actual speed.brought car back to the dealer explaining the inaccuracy, was told verbally speedometers are gauges not meters and can only be designed to guess the actual speed, they cannot report actual speeds.written explanation was a 5 mph difference is a normal variation of speedometers by all auto manufacturers and the car was performing as accurately as all other vehicles.technician, who also drives a jetta, test drove the car and noted speed readings were the same as his jetta at similar rpms.his car is also apparently reporting speed 10% faster than his actual speed.at freeway speeds the 10% variance in speed accuracy is greater than the 5 mph difference to be expected in accordance with their explanation.

My car accelerated while i was making a "panic stop" my foot was on the brake and no brakes were being activated and the car actually sped up until i pushed in the clutch. By that time it was too late and i tapped the car in front of me. I believe this happened due to the cars esp feature which senses driver input and helps to make the "correct" actions to avoid aa loss of control. I jammed on my brakes after hard acceleration and while pushing the brake pedal i jerked the steering wheel. During operating speed these actions would cause understeer and i assume the car has been programmed to release pressure to the brakes and reapply throttle to reengage full steering response but i was leaving a stop sign when i noticed the car in front of me stopped. Im not thinking that this is a defect but rather wanted to bring it to your attention after i just read the symptoms of toyotas malady. The problem they are having could be due to a fault in a similar system. I'm a tech. In the motorcycle industry as well as a performance driving enthusiast. My credentials might not matter but i'm fully aware of the actions i take behind the wheel as well as having an understanding of these "fly by wire" systems.

The contact owns a 2012 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that upon placing the vehicle into park, she exited the vehicle and went to her trunk. As she was retrieving items out of the truck, she heard the vehicle rolling backwards. The contact attempted to open the driver side door but the door had knocked her down as the vehicle continued to roll backwards. After the contact was knocked down, the front driver side tire rolled over her left leg. The vehicle continued to roll into her neighbor's yard and hit the neighbor's garage door. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. A police report was not filed. The next day, the contact went to the hospital and was treated for injuries to her left fibula which required surgery. The vehicle was still able to drive the vehicle after the accident. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed for the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 135,000.

40j2/s4. Recall no. 20i4/u1. Recall no. Q8.

Was driving on the freeway at about 3 in the afternoon traveling at approximately 60 mph when car stopped accelerating in the middle of on going traffic. Power to vehicle dyed out causing me to stall in the center of a busy freeway. This problem has occurred several other times. I have called volkswagen but they would not take full responsibility for on going problem.. My vehicle hasan extended warranty because of this known problem but yet they will only cover 25% of repair cost.. This vehicle is a hazard.. Somebody please address this issue quick before there is a casualty..

Had to replace both cooling fans on my 2007 vw wolfsburg jetta. Check engine light was on cand causing the engine to overheat. Causing the pressure relief lid on the overflow bottle to be activated causing coolant to come out. This would happen when the outside tem was 50+ degrees fahrenheit. Vehicle would be driving or idle.

I purchase my volkswagen jetta 2007for a dealer in palm springs area, i always had troubles with my vehicle. I showed my father the agreement on the form and i was upset to see they took advanced of my daughter, the car was posted as is. A month after she bought the car the transmission was causing trouble, the car would hesitater then make a chirp noise and then hit a faster jump into gear. Sometimes the car would make skid marks. Now my daughter was trying to back out of our garage today july 27, 2018 andthe vehicle doesn't shift to any gears.thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Key gets stuck in ignition and i cannot turn off the engine.car only have 125k and maintenance always with dealer.

Car jerks, one fan do not work, oil leak, wind shield washer and coolant system.brought car from drive time in febuary 2013.i've noticed these problems when driving and parking.the car over heats as well.i also notified drive-time and was told to get another diagnostic test.i did not have the money for another.

Right side drive shaft and left side drive shaft faulty. Vacuum pump leaking oil bad, and new gasket needed. Left side rear door latch also does not lock posing a threat to safety and leaving possibility for robber, vehicle damage and or bodily harm due to intruder.

After going to the mechanics after the check engine light came on, i was expecting all the problems to be gone but to my surprise the jolting when i accelerate is still there. Its a very harsh jolt forward roughly when its going to second gear, the rpms go to 4k then jump down to 2k and it does that for a while. For example i'll be driving and then all of a sudden it'll do a harsh jolt forward and will continue to do that when accelerating or when attempting to go at a steady speed.another problem is the seatbelts are not retractable anymore and i have no idea why. When i would turn off the car the gas would be regurgitated back as if the car was on as it's completely off. I don't know where it comes from but water gets in the car when it rains and the carpets will be completely soaked and it'll smell like mold, we have tried to fix it and mechanics have looked at it and they are clueless too.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the transmission warning light illuminated immediately after the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis, however the details of the diagnosis was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

I was coming off a ramp and tried to accelerate, but the car wouldn't go more than 20mph.all the gears on the gear selector display found in the driver information center stays lit up and affects the transmission. The car feels like it is stuck in neutral. I researched this problem online and there are numerous articles that states there is a recall related to malfunctioning mechatronic units.this is not related to the original dsg recalls. Vw customer care or the dealership i take it to won't do anything about it even with the information on the internet about it.

I had a mass airflow sensor signal connection failure which caused morning of the second cylinder in a hole in the piston see you

Engine shuts off while driving.happened multiple times, had it towed to an auto shop that works w/my used car warrenty, they tested generator and battery and both were good.no recalls on my vin however, i did see recall# 14e007000 on 2007 jetta's and it states the engine could shut off due to timing belt from faulty water pump.

Letter from congressman hill on behalf of his constituent (no name was given) re concerns about his 2007 volkswagen group (vw) jetta's engine stalling while driving.

While driving on a major highway, my vw's dsg transmission started slipping and shifting erratically.the engine rpms would increase to 6000 then drop suddenly to 500. While this was happening, the engine would suddenly reengage, causing the car to surge and buck. The transmission would then slip again, and the engine surging and vehicle bucking cycle would continue.symptoms of the dsg transmission failure occurring;transmission would slip. Rpms would increase then decrease suddenly and without warning.engine would engage then disengage causing the vehicle to violently buck, shake, and jerk. The prnds nomenclature would flash rapidly, indicating a fault within the system.the final indication of the severity of the dsg transmission's complete failure was the cars inability to move under throttle. The cars velocity was completely uncontrollable.i am very meticulous about the maintenance of my vehicles. Vw requires a fluid and filter change at 40,000 for the dsg. I had mine done at 39,000this happened on i70 on the border of pa/md. I was able to move the car to the shoulder without loss of life or property. However, had this dsg/transmission failure occurred on 495 in va/md, ( which was my location just 2 hours prior)the results could have been catastrophic.vw is well aware of this issue with its dsg transmission, both domestically and internationally. Note the vin specific recall in the us for dsg/mechatronic/ temp sensor. However, this issue is widespread. My vin is not specified in the recall, yet my vehicle has experienced the same issue and failure as that specified in the recall.the failure of my dsg transmission was completely unexpected and without warning. Had i not had the opportunity to pull my car safely to the side of the road, the results could have been severe injury or worse yet, loss of life for me or other drivers.

I noticed the engine light went on few weeks ago then the shafts' lights started turning on all at the same time (p-r-n-d). The car was moving and a knocking sound started when the weather gets hot. I took it to couple of car shop services and non was able to demonstrate the problem but rather, they offered to change the whole transmission for +4,500 dollars so that they would work it simply with a good profit! while driving earlier today, there was a very weird sound coming from the engine and i planed to take it to vw services so that they'd take a look at it. Unfortunately, few minutes later the car stopped moving and i had to pull up. I just found out that vw is calling vw jetta 2006-2009, engine 2.01 for the exact same reason. Though, my car is 2.5 engine but happened to have the exact same problems. I'm towing the car tomorrow morning and i'll take it to vw services and hopefully they will consider this incident for the 2.5l cars also.

Both radiator cooling fans had to be replaced after a check for engine faults were performed with a total cost to me of $786.43.the v.w. Jetta is a 2.5 liter engine.this was the second 2.5 liter jetta the local automotive repair companyhas done today with date of june 13, 2013.all the major dealerships in denver were called to compare availability and price of parts.all dealerships had both radiator cooling fans that needed replaced in stock.the availability of these parts at all dealerships leads to this summary:themajor volkswagen dealerships were anticipating having to replace theseparts in many of the 2.5 liter jetta volkswagens.this problem should be on a re-call by volkswagen and the cost of replacement and labor including diagnosing of the engine faults and the fans should be paid by volkswagen.the fan replacement was mandatory in order to keep radiator and thus theengine cool in order to prevent more expensive repairs and/or possiblemalfunction leading to an accident.

The 2007 jetta 2.5has a front air vent which has been designed poorly and makes a rattling sound. The fixed it several times and it still make sounds and several of my friends have the same issue with their jetta.

I drive a vw jetta (2007) 2.0t. It has been having several engine issues since i bought the car (check engine light, loss of power, engine sputter). But over the past 5-6 months, i have had the car stall completely twice. The first time at a traffic stop and the second time while merging on to an interstate ramp.

I was driving along a major freeway when the car started to vibrate and the check engine light came on and was flashing.i had to attempt to get to the shoulder in heavy traffic with the car slowing down and engine misfiring.when parked on the side of the freeway, we exited the car since it was a very dangerous stretch of road and soon a highway service vehicle came and told us they would tow us off the road for our safety. We were stranded on a lone stretch of busy freeway 80 miles from home and had to get a tow for 80+miles and 2+ hour's drive.i was very disappointed that the problem i had with my car (ignition coil) was the same problem i had 4 months prior (which also required a tow).at that time, only one ignition coil was replaced (even though i was told there was an existing recall on the ignition coils) and so 4 months later i ended up with the same problem.in reading on the web, i have discovered the problem with vw ignition coils has been around since 2001 - even more reason to why all four should have been replaced when i first brought my car in for the problem back in june.this has been a known problem for many years (with 2001-2003 models) but for some reason it still continues today and there has been only service bulletins issued and no factory recalls.

Engine looses significant power at highway speeds causing it to be unable to maintain pace with traffic. After restart runs ok. Happens intermittently.

The vehicle hesitates when taking off from a stop.i feel this is unsafe because the danger of being hit if you pull out in front of another vehicle and the car hesitates.it appears that all of2007 vw autos do this.i met with a repair manager from boardwalk vw and a rep from vw of america.i was told that there is nothing to repair that this is normal. 3 of 4 vehicles i draw do it.i also road in another vehicle at the dealership and could feel it while the vw rep drove it.i could see his body move as it did it and he denied.i bought the vehicle for my twin daughters that turn 16 in october.the vehicle is unsafe and really unsafe for inexperienced drivers.the vehicle was bought new about2 months ago.

- the contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The radio will randomly play extremely loud without warning. This occurred when driving at any speed. The dealer stated they are unable to diagnose the failure. The current mileage was 700 miles.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that the interior and exterior lights were illuminating on and off sporadically. In addition, the sun-roof would open independently. The dealer was notified of the failure however, the vehicle was neither diagnosed for the failure or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.

My car's driver's headlight went out.i had someone look at it, only to be told that the wiring in the harness/headlight assembly was exposed (the colored coating protecting the wiring was gone).i ordered a left headlight assembly.in the meantime, the old headlight assembly was brought to the vw dealer, only to be told that they "see a lot of these come in", but was advised that there is no recall or ownership of poor quality from vw.when the part came in and was being installed, i was then told that the right headlight assembly also needed to be replaced, for the exact same reason.i wasn't allowed to drive the car as i was told it was a major safety issue.i was told that if the exposed wires touched each other, the car could just stop or, perhaps the headlights would not work at all, which would be especially dangerous if i were driving at night.either way, i was told an accident of some sort would occur, which is why i wouldn't be allowed to use the car while waiting for the part to come in.if vw has seen "a lot of these" incidents coming into their service department, one would question why there hasn't been a recall on the headlights.this is a highly dangerous situation, allowing drivers to be out on the roads when the car has inferior and defective electrical parts.dangerous for the driver and passengers...dangerous for the others who might be involved should an accident occur.i do hope that a follow-up with vw comes out of this complaint as this is a safety hazard.a recall should be in order and i would greatly appreciate anything you can do to make this happen.thank you for keeping us safe and providing a place where complaints, such as mine, can be heard.

I've had to replace the headlights multiple times due to faulty electrical wiring inside the headlight unit that could have easily resulted in fires. Airbag fault hindering usage

I am complaining about being asked to schedule a recall repair with other recommended service.

I am the owner of a 2007 volkswagen jetta, wulfsburg edition, vin#[xxx]. Over the past four months, i have had numerous problems with the car shutting down in the middle of traffic.in april 2013 and three times since, the vehicle has stalled without notice, in the middle of traffic.i have had repairs done twice at the dealer, but the problem still persist.the car will display the 'battery' symbol once it stops.the engine will shut down but after about 20-30 minutes and after contacting police and tow trucks, the car restarts.i have had the vehicle towed four times to the dealer.twice, they could not find anything wrong because there were no warning lights showing; the car was running perfectly.this problem normally occurred during rush hour traffic.i travel long distances on the highway to work and have been fortunate that the car has not shutdown on the highway; i am normally in local traffic when it completely just shuts down.this is a very dangerous situation.i don't have any other transportation to get to work and do not fill safe driving my vehicle.the dealer does not seem concerned, and expressed that i may just be making up the problem.after sitting in rush hour traffic for an hour, i can assure this is not a made up problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2007 jetta 2.5l wolfsburg edition (5sp manual) with 9,500 miles abruptly loses power when revved to 3000 rpm followed by a solid yellow cel. Walk-in at dealer service, in and out 1 hour, they said diagnostic shows knock sensor was at fault and cleaned and replaced with original knock sensor. 200 miles later, same issue - no throttle response at 3000 rpm, followed by solid yellow cel. Dealer says ok to drive on, come in next apt. 5 days later. Car in and out same day, they cleaned both knock sensors and replaced with originals again. 300 miles later same problem - no throttle response, cel, etc. This time dealer replaced both kock sensors with new ones. The same issue repeats another 2 times. Dealer has been in touch with vw tech line since episode 3 because they tell me it is a "warranty issue".this same single issue has happened 5 times in total spanning 1,000 miles in 2 months.all repairs completed by language vw in schenectady, ny.

2007 vw jetta wolfsburg edition, 4-door. Fuel tank started leaking gas about 5k miles ago (started about 5k outside of warranty). There are about 5 super tiny holes located on a seam of the fuel tank. Tank is defective, vw not interested in assisting in the fix. This defective tank poses a severe explosion hazard to me and my family. Vehicle has not been in any accidents, has had all service work completed.

Gas mileage on my vehicle has never been as good as posted on purchasing sticker.

I was driving on a freeway when large pieces of tire starting flying in the road from a semi-truck.several vehicles were attempting to avoid being struck, when a large piece flew up and hit under my car.the outcome was a hole in my gas tank which then proceeded to leak fuel onto the highway.i had to pull over due to the damage.i understand this is considered "active damage" and should not have occurred due to safety standards that should be in place.i was thankful there were no sparks in the immediate vicinity or i would not be here now.

40j2/s4. Recall no. 20i4/u1. Recall no. Q8.

Strong fuel smell coming in from ac vents when car at a stop. Seen this car model was previously recalled for fuel smell in past. When driving off smell seems to go away since air seems to be flowing it out of engine bay.

Rear passenger side door lock fails to engage.

Back right side passenger door lock fails to lockdealership said 9 times out of 10 it is the lock module that malfunctions and is very common in jetta's.

The door lock doesn't work. It does not lock all the doors which can lead to a fatality if my little children open the door by accident. For what i seen this is a manufacture defect in all these vehicles.

2007 vw jetta wolfsberg edition brake pads completely worn out at 18k miles.had dealer replace pads.pads completely worn again at 25k miles along with rotors.took to dealer who refused repairs as condition was "normal" and would not cover under warranty.took to private mechanic who said condition was "not normal" and scheduled followup service after pads were replaced to gauge damage to rear braking mechanisms.

Parking brake was not adjusted properly from the factory causing premature brake pad wear. Too soon to be caught during service intervals thereby may have caused brake failure leading to an incident and/or caused damage.

I have had several problems with my 2007 vw jetta 2.5 but the most recent and disturbing was a complete failure of the rear brakes due to an improperly adjusted parking brake cable.the faulty e-brake caused the rear brake calipers to seize, ate through the pads, and damaged the rotors.upon taking it to the dealer i was informed this was a fairly common problem with my model.after doing some research on the internet i came across dozens of other owners who have had the same problem.while mine did not result in an accident not having the use of the rear brakes with no way of telling is definitely a cause for concern.plus with the brakes seized and dragging my fuel economy has suffered greatly.i took the car in and had the rear calipers, e-brake, pads, and rotors covered under warranty but other owners have had to pay as much as $600.00 to there local dealers who called it a wear item.please look into this and force vw to take ownership of the problem and recall the vehicles before someone does get killed due to brake failure.

Stallingon highway, local roads.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. While parked, the vehicle would independently roll backwards or forward. The contact would have to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Was accelerating onto the expressway during rush hour from full stop at on ramp due to traffic congestion and at around 20 or so mph the car loss power and the rpm quickly increased as if you were pressing the clutch in a manual transmission vehicle, this is a automatic vehicle so the issue was definitely caused by a malfunction somewhere within the driven train or electrical sensors controlling the drive train. Since that time this frightening issue has been increasing in frequency.this is a dangerous issue that needs to be addressed before someone is injured. A basic internet search shows that my case is not unusual for this vehicle.

Right side drive shaft and left side drive shaft faulty. Vacuum pump leaking oil bad, and new gasket needed. Left side rear door latch also does not lock posing a threat to safety and leaving possibility for robber, vehicle damage and or bodily harm due to intruder.

Started experiencing hard shifting in the lower gears (1-3) as described in the extended warranty for the transmission valve body. Unfortunately i am already past this warranty date and had no idea of the problem until it happened, and there is no recall on this.

Transmission slips extremely badly even though it doesnt even have 90k miles almost makes it impossible to drive in city and is dangerous when needing to speed up and slow down. Transmission slips more when speeding up from slow speeds and will reach high rpms of 4700 even when not touching the gas but i have had it slip on the highway out of nowhere and it peaked at 7300 rpm when not touching the gas which is past the redline on the rpms. It happens almost every day i drive to work (20 minutes on the freeway) and shouldn't be happening with this low amount of miles.

Started experiencing hard shifting in the lower gears (1-3) as described in the extended warranty for the transmission valve body. Unfortunately i am already past this warranty date and had no idea of the problem until it happened, and there is no recall on this. The vw dealership in my area said it is about a $2300.00 fix.

Automatic transmission slips/jerks/jumps when upshifting and downshifting at low speeds and highway speeds, brought to dealer and had transmission diagnostic conducted, reported no problems and stated they could not duplicate the erratic shifting.now currently thuds and physically jumps when shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd and even 4th to 5th, brought it in again to gmc dealer and they said i would be needing a new transmission at only 110000 miles, advised me to check my car vin# for valve body recall.

Tiptronic transmission failure todefective valve body that should have been covered under extended warranty but denied by vw.took car in several times during the extended warranty period that i purchased, one time for shifting issues at low speeds.they were unable to duplicate problem and there were no error codes.the extended warranty that i purchased but the extended warranty issued by vw was good for 7 years or 100,000.at approximately 99,500 problem had been getting worse so i took it back to the dealership.i was informed that it still was not throwing an error code but in the master technician's opinion, the transmission had a problem but it was not the fault of the valve body, the covered part.also, this is a non-serviceable transmission meaning the entire transmission would have to be replaced rather than rebuilding.took to an independent service center who diagnosed it as a defective valve body (the part covered under the extended warranty).in the process of replacing the defective part, a rebuild kit and torque converter were replaced as part of this process.submitted the invoices to vw.received letter that payment for repairs was denied because the invoices that i submittedstated that "the repair performed were to replace the entire transmission and torque converter".not true.called customer service.detailed everything i did here.after some checking, the representative "regretted" to inform me that they could not help in covering the costs of the repair.to say that i am frustrated beyond belief is putting it mildly.

I bought this vehicle in 2015, it had 72k miles then, now it has 90k miles. The last 1 year i have been having issues with the vehicle jerking when it warms up enough especially when i get to a stop light and start driving, often times the engine revvs up so much as if someone hit me from behind and then settles down. Vw did extend the warranty knowing about this defect up to 100k and 6 years whichever comes first. There are a lot of forums where several of the affected are discussing this issue. This issue happens for auto transmission vehicle. Not sure why this was not considered a recall, since the gear goes up by itself often times as if i may hit the vehicle on the front. The issue is with transmission valve that vw agreed is found defective. I feel that they should make it a recall if the part if found defective. It is an expensive part and the parts and labor costs about 2k. This issue has impacted pretty much all the vehicles made during 2005 until 2007 or 2008 and is affecting all 2.5 engines especially the wulfsburg edition which is one of the high end in that model. Appreciate if you guys have a look at the problem and do the needful. The pattern is such that the vehicle runs just fine when just started for about 20 minutes, once the engine warms up the vehicle will start acting up, when in high way with a stop and go traffic or at local roads. The engine will rev up to 4 or 5 suddenly, there is a lot of hesitation, i have to give very light accelaration in order to avoid hitting the vehicle on the front. It becomes life threatening often times.

After engine warms up the car jerks when shifting gears up and down.it gets stuck in 3rd gear at times.i took the car to serra volkswagen at 1490 center point pkwy, birmingham, al 35215.the mechanic stated that he found metal shaven in the transmission and drained it.after a few days the same problem occurred in 2018.i just parked the car until i can figure what's really going on with my car.today july 7, 2019 i drove the car to my new resident and it got stuck in 3rd gear.please help me with this problem concerning my transmission.

Dsg transmission metronic unit failure.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta turbo diesel. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the transmission would engage into neutral causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that she was not properly driving the vehicle and that the contact would need to learn to drive the vehicle correctly. The manufacturer was contacted who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 31,000. Updated 4/11/2011 updated 04/14/11

My 2007 vw jetta gli went into neutral and not allow me to pull away from a red light.the car drifted back and suddenly lurched into gear and pulled away finally.the car has done this 2 or 3 times since and is currently being checked by my local vw dealer.i have spoken to vw customer service regarding the dsg issues.my car is not currently under any recall or extended warranty program according to their records when checking my vin.there have been other strange shifts, but the lack of power when pulling out is very scary and unsafe.i have not experienced the flashing of the gear indicator lights in the multi function display.

I was driving on the highway going about 65 mph using the cruise control and my car was in "drive".all of a sudden, the car hesitated, and started to slow down for no reason.i saw on the multi-function display the"prnd" was flashing.i went to push the gas pedal, and the engine just revved freely and no power was applied to propel the car.i had to coast to a stop and restart the car in order to get it to move again.

2007 vw jetta 2.0 w/ dsg - dual mass flywheel failure identified by dealership. This has been an issue with 2007-2009 vw's with dsg.

I own a 2007 volkswagen jetta gli with a 2.0t engine and a direct shift gearbox (dsg) transmission. At approximately 33,000 miles (in 12/2008), my dsg transmission failed while driving on a main 40mph road into my job.i lost power at about 20mph while turning left in front of oncoming traffic but was luckily able to coast into my works side roads to pull over.the loss of power was accompanied by the flashing of all transmission gear lights (prdns), which is typical of all dsg transmission failures from what i have read.vw completely replaced my transmission under warranty and never told me exactly which part of my dsg actually failed.they claimed that they simply remove the entire transmission and send it back to vw.there is a current recall for a small number of 08-09 dsg equipped cars, which was implemented because a faulty temperature sensor can cause the transmission to shift to neutral and all power would be lost, resulting in a dangerous situation.this power loss is what i experienced, and although my problem was likely unrelated to the current recall rationale, was dangerous to me nonetheless.i visit avw enthusiast website where dsg failures on all model years are more commonplace than should be accepted.if this high failure transmission results in a dangerous condition, vw should remedy the problem by fixing all dsg models with updated components for all known commonly failing dsg components.at the very least, vw should also extend dsg warranties to 100,000 miles to cover repairs to this costly transmission.

Driving down road at normal speeds(55-65) an annoying clunking consistently going on under front drivers side of car. Taken it to sendell volkswagen 4-5 times now and a cv shaft is bad but they say volkswagen of america refused repair and said drive it til it breaks or gets worse! and a clunking noise is coming from transaxle at light throttle at 55-60 and other speeds with the dsg gearbox. They heard it and `can't seem to put their finger on it' so they stuffed foam under panels inside car to deaden the noise. Still no repair to date!!

The contacts own a 2007 volkswagen jetta.the contact has been experiencing brake failure since the first two weeks after the vehicle was purchased.he stated that the brakes grind whenever he attempts to stop.while driving 45 mph, he attempted to accelerate and the vehicle hesitated.on june 11, 2007, he arrived at wellesley volkswagen and spoke to the service manager.the service manager acknowledged that the transmission was faulty and discovered an error registered in the computer.wellesley would not provide a loaner vehicle, but the contact was able to retrieve his vehicle within a few days.however, the brakes continue to grind.hecalled volkswagen, but no one would speak to him.the current mileage is 3,000 and failure mileage was 200.updated 09/18/07. Updated 01-16-08. Updated

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta.the contact stated that when he depressed the accelerator pedal to pass another vehicle or move faster, the vehicle would suddenly slow down. The vehicle would also take up to three seconds before it would move forward at a moderate speed. The contact stated the failure was called "intermittent accelerator hesitation" related to the transmission. The failure occurred four times. The contact called the dealer who stated the vehicle had to be inspected. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 27,000. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

My transmission jerks / jolts significantly while my car is coming to a stop. This occurs pretty regularly, usually once on my way to work every morning when i pull up to a stop light after driving for approx. 25 minutes.it does this jolting no matter who is driving the car. This began happening last year.i have taken it into my dealer twice and they were unable to diagnose and resolve the issue.they did make me aware of a recent recall on a specific type of vw transmission for the same complaint of "jolting" however my type of transmission is currently not covered in the current recall.i believe they have a bigger issue with their transmissions.

Default clutch failure,i havebeen watching this forum for a few days, ever since the06 tdi jetta clutch stuck to the floor , oh yes another clutch pedal to the floor!.we were told at the dealership that it would be under warranty, same old thing customer abuse, $2700.00 later. Replaced clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and flywheel. I was shocked.we have had many transmission in thefamily with everyone driving and never a problem.this was our first volkswagenand probably our last unless volkswagen does the proper thing and reimburses us. Anyways, after the shock i made them give me the old parts, plus core charge of $35.00, and did some research at transmission shops.as far as the shops were concerned there was no improper wear, no bluing, and as far as they could tell it was clutch failure from defective parts.after further research, early model clutches have been taken off the market and replaced with an newer style.this is a fact, even though the pressure plate and clutch only needed to be replaced volkswagenhad to replace the flywheel at a cost of $1700.00. The dealership lied to me from the beginning saying that the new clutch camein a kit ,and the flywheelwas apart of that kit. After talking to a parts representativethey wereall sold separately!so we are not done with this fight. Volkswagencustomer care wasno help. Basically, the dealer couldmake the call if it should be under warranty or not.we also found out that there werebetter after market clutches available. The cost for an outside shop was quoted at $1,0000.00 to replace parts and labor. I will keep an eye on this forum and keep you posted.ps:also, iposted a complaint at the nhtsa, that will be #16, yes canadians couldpost complaints there.good luck.

We never received recall notice for 09v 164. Our car had a failed right front drive shaft which fractured the transmission case on april 28,2010. We almost lost control due to the leaking trans oil. Dealer stated that the recall was performed during a service visit. This failure is exactly why vw file a safety recall with nhtsa. Now the transmission needs to be replaced due to hole in case and vw is not responding.

2007 jetta 2.5lrear brake failure in june 2007 resulted in accident where i was unable to stop and vehicle was hit driver's side. Reported to vw and was told it was normal failure. Brakes continue to function intermittently (grinding, squealing, seizing) december 2008 rear brakes replaced (30,000kms) at my expense as vw has refused to acknowledge this as an issue. August 2007 clutch fails and vehicle is taken to vw for repairs. Advised it was normal wear and tear (18,000kms) and would not be covered under warranty. Had clutch inspected by a clutch manufacturer who advises parts failed as a result of improper installation. Vw issues refund after legal action is pursued.have had vehicle inspected at independent mechanic who agrees with sub standard workmanship and parts on this model.

2007 vw jetta ,odometer 26615, manual transmission.unable to put car into gear while stopped or driving.. Dealershippulled transmission and found debris , worn clutch, heat marks on fly wheel {verbal report ;front face of clutch had come apart). Replaced clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, throwout bearing. Vw paid for 25% of parts and labor.

Seatbelts.both of my front seatbelts stopped retracting, then locked up and could not be pulled out in order to fasten.dealer repaired, but this may be an ongoing issue.

While driving the car i smelled something burning. I did not see smoke or fire but when i pulled over i found that the heating element in the passenger side seat had started burning the seat. It actually melted a hole in the seat in one spot. The burn marks are visible running vertically 13 inches on the backrest of the passenger seat.

The driver heated seat got so hot that there is now a burn mark on my seat and caused injury to my back. I have a blister, that turned now into a smaller blister and is black. I bought the car brand new back in 2007 and have never had this problem before. If i lower the heat setting for the seat the seat is still very hot. Sometimes i can smell something burning, which smells electrical. I have pictures for evidence of what has taken place.

While driving around, doing some shopping, i had the the seat warmer turned on level 3-4 on the driver seat and by the time i got home i started smelling smoke in the car and noticed that my seat burned all the way through my jacket. I went to the volkswagen dealership and quoted me over $1000 to replace my seat. I cannot use my seat warmer anymore, it's a fire hazard. Is there anything i can do? any recall on this issue?

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the driver side seat began moving backward abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised her that they replaced a sensor to correct the failure. The contact was unaware of the exact sensor that was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure and the current mileage was 91,000. The vin was not available.

I was driving to work and i felt something hot on my back and a burning smell. I pulled over to look and i had two burn marks in my seat with a big brown burn mark down the side along with it burning my clothes. I immediately turned the seat warmer off.

While driving my 2007 vw jetta, i noticed a burning smell.when i got out of my car, i noticed a very big burn on my seat (where my back was).my back is also discolored.this morning, i put the seat warmer on #1 (the lowest setting) and the right side is scorching hot.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. While driving approximately 20 mph with the seat warmers activated, the driver side seat warmer immediately overheated and burned the contact. Medical attention was not required. The failure persisted even at the lowest setting. The failure recurred on one other occasion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

2007 volkswagen jetta.attorney representing consumer writes in regards to vehicle seat heater caught fire and burned the consumer and her clothing.after the dealer kept the vehicle for two weeks, it was returned to her in the same manner and she was offered $1200 and they would disconnect the heater.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that when driving, a burning odor emitted from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear brake cable failed causing the rear brake to seize and emit smoke. As a result, the brake cable, the rear pads, and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 68,000.

I have 2007 volkswagen jetta wolfsberg ed and i am having serious issue with the rear brakes. I bought this brand new at 60 miles on it in june 2007.. Around 18/19k i had to replace rear brakes n rotors cause they were worn and were rubbing metal on metal.. I went to the vw service they said it may have been the ebrake not adjusted correctly.. They replaced everything under warranty after arguing with them.. They tried to say it's the way i drive or i must have driven with the ebrake on.. R u kidding me!!!! i been driving for 10 yrs.. And if it was the way i drive why haven't the front brakes gone? they are still the original brakes to this date 2-12-10.. Anyhow so they replaced it. Right now i'm at 29k guess what.. I had tires changed out and my rear brakes are at 30% left.. This is insane 10k an i have to change rear brakes again?? meanwhile i still have original front brakes on the car with 2/3 of life on them! my trusted/personal mech said there has to be something wrong with the braking system or hydraulics.. There's no way i should be almost on my 3rd set of rear brakes without even touching my front brakes.. He said that is not normal.. I had a 95 camry bought it used had that for 2.5 yrs and only replaced all brakes 1 time...and isn't the stopping power on all vehicle in the front brakes.. Its a fw drive car... This is getting ridiculous.. At this rate ill be changing brakes every 3 oil changes.. How does this make sense to the vw company or any mechanic for that matter?... Please recall this veh for rear brake issue.. Nobody has 400 dollars every 10k for brakes.. Please do the right thing!!

I have a 2007 volkswagen jetta wolfsberg edition with 29,000 miles on it. I am the original owner.my rear brakes were making an awful squealing noise.i brought the car to the dealer for scheduled maintenance as well as for my brakes.i was told that my rear brakes had 1mm and 2mm left on them and needed to be replaced and this was part of normal wear and tear. The car is not even 2 years old and they want to charge $425 to replace the rear brakes.ihave owned toyotas before and have never heard of such a thing.this is a huge flaw that volkswagen refuses to own up to.i have talked to my dealer, drito brothers, and customer relations about this issue.apparently, volkswagen does not care about their customers and continue to make an inferior car.i think it needs to be investigated with a potential for recall.i have read many online forums with many people running into this same issue.i had an outside mechanic take a look and they feel there is a major flaw in the car as the wear on the rear brakes is uneven while the front brakes are not showing any wear at all.thank you for looking into this issue.

We own a 2007 jetta with about 30k miles on it. The brakes and rotors have failed. They have been making noise since day one but recently we learned they are shot. Vw claims this to be normal wear and tear. We say it's bad manufacturing or design and someone should look into these brakes.

At 29,000 miles i started hearing a grinding noise in my rear brakes.called dealership advising of noise and was given an appt for 2 weeks later.at appt was advised that rear brakes and rotors needed replaced.vw advised me that it is normal for the rear brakes to go before the front brakes.no repair work done, car has been sitting in my garage.

The 2007 volkswagen jetta has an issue with the rear brakes.i have less than 27,000 miles on the car and need to replace the pads and rotors.within 1 week of hearing the inital grinding noise, i took the car to the dealership and was told there was 1/32 left on the rear rotors.this is unheard of for rotors to wear so quickly.

I have a 2007 vwjetta with 72k miles on it. My front brake pad which are original from the dealer have 65% left on them, while i am going onto my second set of rear brakes, the first a set i did a year ago. Yes i do have high miles but i have always thought that the front ones go first. I am now spending about $500 to do my rear pads, rotors, caliper, and changing the brake fluid. I think vw needs to switch the sensor to the rears not the fronts. If i didn't know anything about cars i would have waited for the sensor to go off which probably wouldn't be until next year at this rate.

I am leasing a 2007 jetta 2.5 and just took my car in this morning for it's 35,000 mile tune-up. I was told that my rear brake pads and rotors were at less than 10%. I was not notified 5,000 miles ago that they were low or would be causing issues. Now i'm being told on top of my $250 tune-up, i need to replace all that for 310. This seems to be a documented issue, and i'm highly upset that i would have to deal with this in my lease. In 5,000 miles i went from being "fine" to the pads being ground into the rotors.

Had to pay to replace rear brake pads and rotors at 21,272, and now less than 10,000 miles after i have to do it again. This is obviously a defect and not normal wear and tear but vw refuses to pay for it and fix it. I have had many cars and never had to replace brake pads, let alone rotors also, before 40,000 miles. My driving style has not changed, if anything i've mellowed with age. There are other issues that bother me besides the very short life span of the rear brakes on my jetta. The brake wear light that lets you know there's a problem with your brakes only works for the front brakes. Also, i've been told by the service department that although the rotors are not damaged they need to be replaced and cannot be turned on the jetta because it will cause premature pad wear! so i have defective brakes that wear out prematurely, not way of knowing that they're wearing out until you hear the problem (which is usually too late), and no matter what you also have to replace the rotors everytime you change the pads!

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta.whenever the contact attempts to drive his vehicle, he hears a grinding sound coming from the brakes of the vehicle.the dealer stated that all of the brake components needed to be replaced.the failure has occured on more than five different occasions.the current mileage was 40,000 and failure mileage was 1,000.

I have a 2007 vw jetta. At 27,000 miles i had to have rear brake pads replaced and rotors turned. Brakes were rubbing metal to metal. I think it is a premature brake wear problem. Do not know if it is faulty parts or what. Dealer says it is normal to have rear pads wear out with that little of mileage. I am 55yrs. Old and i have never seen that with any car. I hope it does not cause anyone to have an accident.

At 18,000 miles my rear brakes sounded like a garbage disposal. When i brought it to the dealer they stated normal wear and tear. Brakes failed a month later. This month, 18,000 miles later the same thing has happened. A simple google search reveals that many other owners of the 2007 jetta are faced with this dangerous and expensive problem.

Took my vw 2007 jetta in for a 20k oil change and had to replace the rear brakes.i argued with the service dept. And did some research on the brakes only to find that this is a common problem with the jetta.my previous car was a spyder eclipse; a much heavier car but had the original brakes at 78k !this is the last vw i will buy.owned a cabrio in 1999 and won my lemon law case for the defects.

I own a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The rear brakes had to be completely replaced at 28000 miles. Both the dealership and the volkswagen corporate office refuse to cover brakes under warranty stating that for the jetta it is "normal" to need new rear brakes in as little as 10000 miles. Edmunds.com and carcomplaint.com have hundreds of jetta owners complaining about the premature rear brake failure in the 2007 models. It seems that we have been told the same thing, about the jetta depending on the rear brakes to make safer stopping. It is not fair that automotive company is neglecting to recognize the defect in their car. Many people cannot afford to replace brake pad and rotors every 10000-20000 miles, that presents a formidable safety issue.

I own a 2007 jetta with only 26k miles on it. Without any initial warning the rear brakes started to grind on the rear passenger side. I took the car to a specialist who told be one rear brake was grinding on metal and the other was about to get to that point. My front wheel drive brakes were still 100% and not showing any sign of wear. They felt this was very unusual for brakes to do this so soon and suggested i take it to the car dealer to have them check for faulty brakes. I took the car inand they said it was normal for this car to do this so early. I want you to know that i have owned many cars in my lifetime and tend to replace them after about 50k miles. We have never had to replace brakes on any of our cars. This is not normal and should be investigated for a flaw in the model. They also told me the pads in the rear are thinner than the ones in the front. This does not make any sense to me. I am out $350.00 dollars and will never purchase a vw product again. This was my first experience with this car maker. Additionally this car is a stick shift and i am not a lead foot driver. Now i wonder about the safety issues of their brakes.

My 2007 jetta (wolfsburg edition) needed new rear brakes and rotors at 19k miles.this does not seem logical.upon further research at mycarstats.com, i learned that other '07 jetta owners are experiencing the same problem.the complaints filed indicate potential faulty rear brake assembly.vw only reimbursed me 1/2 of my $800 repair bill, and would not pay for brake flush that was performed without my authorization by the vw dealer where serviced.

At 10,759 miles, hearing a metal sound from rear of the car when pressing the brakes, we took our 2007 volkswagen jetta to the dealer. Upon inspection they found that the read pads were worn down to the metal at 3mm. They replaced the read pads and l/s rotor and adjusted the parking brake cable. This repair was performed under warranty. At 26,171 miles the rear brakes were worn down again and the rear brake pads and rotors were replaced at a cost of $378. This in my opinion is a design defect and potential safety issue. Rear brakes should not need replacement every 10k to 15k miles.

2007 jetta wolfsburg rear brakes made from a softer material causing them to wear at a much faster rate than the front(approx. Every 16k miles). Info is straight from vw usa. Why would they put the sensors on only the front if they know the rear will wear faster and no info in the owners manual. Unreasonable repair on a front wheel drive car. Front brakes still look new while back brakes are worn and cut into the rotor. Vw usa says this was a fix in response to customer complaints of rear brake noise. Softer material causes more brake dust and brakes squeal all the time. Having to replace brakes much more often is not an efficient fix. I have seen many complaints about this on edmunds.com. This is an issue.

I have only 21,000 miles on my car, at approx. 19,000 miles i noticed a slight squeak to my rear brakes occasionally.i have brought my car into have them checked.volkswagen claims this is normal wear and tear, they claim it is normal for rear brakes to go out within such a short amount of time.this is not normal, nor is it safe.brakes should last a lot longer, and i should not have to replaced them every 18-20,000 miles.this issue needs to be addressed immediately. Volkswagen isselling poor quality vehicles and they are attempting to shrug it off as normal wear and tear because they do not want to admit their fault in the design of the braking system on their most popular models.i have a 2007 volkswagen jetta.i have heard the same issue with their gti and rabbit models of the same year or later.

I have a 2007 vw jetta and the rear brake pads have worn outat just 20k miles. I hear this a common problem withh this car and vw refuses to acknowledge problem and charges up $400 to replace rear brake pads.

At approx 22k miles my rear brakes began squealing and then grinding loudly.was told that i needed new rotors and pads at a cost of approx $500.was told by independent service shop that the brakes not only were extremely worn down, but the wear was fairly uneven as well.i have never heard of brakes wearing out so quickly.it is absurd to think that i will have to do this every 12-18 months.

I have a 2007 vw jetta that is wearing out pads to fast.the 1st time they wore out the car had approx 16,000 mi.we were told by the dealership that it was caused by the emergency brake lever not totally releasing.the 2nd time the car was out of warranty with approx. 28,000 mi. But the dealership and vw were willing to replace the pads since they wore due to the brake lever again.but it was suggested that audi pads be put on because they wore longer than the vw.the mechanic at the time said there was a problem on the jetta with the lever not always releasing.now at 54,000 mi the car had to go in for a brake job.unfortunately the pads wore down to the rivets and scoured the rotors.so i had to pay for pads and turning the rotors.now vw is saying that they design the brakes to wear in 12,000 to 20,000 miles.i have never heard of pads only lasting that short of time.and if that is so then why am i still using the original front pads.then they state that they set the car up so the rears do more work then the front to make the front not do all the braking.yeah, we do that on tractor and trailers to, but not to make the rears do all the braking.i worry because my son uses this car at college and i don't want a call saying he had an accidentdue to the brakes going out.i worry vw may have problems with the rear pads prematurely wearing and don't know how to fix the problem like toyota can't fix their problem.

2007 jetta speed increase from 50 to 85 mph without touching the gas pedal. By touching the brake it did stop the increase of speed before it went higher. This happen 4 to 5 times in the last several months. ( the cruise control was not turned on.)

I purchased a new 2007 volkswagen jetta in december 06 from trend motors rockaway nj. The week of feb 18th 2008, my brakes felt mushy. I do not put many miles on my car because i work close to home (4 miles one way) the car has 17,000 miles, i took my car into the dealer 02/20/08 and let the dealer know what was going on with my brakes. I was informed that the back brakes need to be replaced (rotors & pads). I could not believe the back brakes wore out before the front? i never had this happen to me. The cost of the repair would be $380.00 and it was not covered under the warranty.i asked if there was any defects on the back brakes because i have read there was. They said they did not know of any defects and they gave me a number to call (customer relations to see they could assist me). I voiced my complaint with customer relations and gave the same information. I was told that i needed to let them talk to the dealer and the latest that i would hear from them was the next day. I just can?t believe that the back brakes would wear before the fronts? i am a safe cautious driver and i can't understand this? this is highly unusual. I have purchased several cars, toyota, mazda, fords and have never experienced anything like this. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The rear brakes have been wearing down abnormally. The rear rotors and brake pads have been replaced at 20,000 and 40,000 miles.

Normal driving habits. Mileage on vehicle = approximately 59,500. The rear brake pads and rotors wear at excessive rate on my 2007 volkswagen jetta - 2.5l wolfsburg edition. I've never had a vehicle where the rear brake pads or rotors needed to be replaced before the front pads/ rotors. Vw offered to replace the rear pads and rotors for standard brake replacement cost (no discounted price for premature wear). The rear brakes wearing prematurely presents a potential safety hazard.

The rear brakes and rotors need replacement at 22,000 miles.while the front brakes are perfect.

Left rear brake pad metal to metal at 8000 mi. Told parking brake was not adjusted correctly at the factory.dealer replaced both rear rotors and pads.

At 20,000 miles my leased 2007 vw jetta's rear brakes started squeaking and grinding. Took it to dealership and was told that the rear pads and rotors need to be replaced ($350!). I've never had a car with brakes problems this early, specially a front wheel drive car. I did some research and i see that this seems to be a manufacturing defect and vw should acknowledge it and fix it at no cost to the customer.

Rear brakes i feel their is a defect. Have replaced them once at about under 13 thousand miles and again now over 13 thousand miles the vehicle has the same issue. It is not reasonable for rear brakes to wear down before the front. Now volkswagen is giving me the run around. It has less than a year since purchase and i have to spend another 5 hundred dollars to get these fixed. I can be going through brakes like that.

I noticed grinding in the rear brakes after only 20,000 miles on my 2007 vw jetta 2.0 turbo.no warning lights, no wear sensor trips, no indication of brake pad failure.i took the car in for service in monroe, michigan and i was told that vw rear brakes wear out faster than the front brakes and that it was normal, even after 20k miles.if this is the case, than why do they put the electronic wear sensors on the front brakes instead of the rears???i was told that since it was normal wear, that i would be responsible for brake pad replacement costs.i argued that something must be wrong if the pads are wearing out so quickly and with no warning.they refused to cover it under warranty and made no adjustment or investigation as to why this happened.

I purchased a new 2007 volkswagen jetta in january 07 from gossett germanton in memphis tn. The week of july 18th, i started hearing my brakes squealing. I said to myself it could not be my brakes. At 17,800 miles, my brakes start rubbing and down to the metal.i took my car in for service on 7/27/07 and let the dealer know that this car needed new brake pads and it is only 6 months old. I was informed by kyle, vw representative that they would look at the car and would let me know if there was a defect on the brakes. Several hours later i was informed that there were no defects and that the cost of repair would be $380.i was taken off my feet. I was asked to call customer relationsto see they could assist me.i voiced my complaint with customer relations and gave the same information. I was told that i needed to let them talk to the dealer and the latest that i would hear from them was monday. It is now monday and i have yet to hear from them or volkswagen. There is no way that i should be responsible for brake pads for a 6 month old car.i am a safe cautious driver and i can't understand why the dealer does not want to replace the brake pads. This is highly unusual. I have purchased several cars, toyota, mazda and have never experienced anything like this.your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Parking brake was not adjusted properly from the factory causing premature brake pad wear. Too soon to be caught during service intervals thereby may have caused brake failure leading to an incident and/or caused damage.

Left rear brake pad metal to metal at 8000 mi. Told parking brake was not adjusted correctly at the factory.dealer replaced both rear rotors and pads.

I have a 2007 volkswagen jetta (wolfsburg edition). My car has 17,000 miles on it. I brought it to the dealer because the rear brakes were grinding extremely loud. Upon inspection i was told that i needed new rear pads and rotars. I have never in my life had to replace rear brakes and rotars at 17,000. I purchased this car brand new and have not even had it one year. I don't think any car should have rear brakes completely go at 17,000 miles.

When i insert my key it will not turn.sometimes it will but it is really stiff and sometimes it will only let me turn it to accessory.i am worried that when i have it started it will not let me turn it off.

When i bought my brand new 2007 jetta in oct 2006, we thought that the steering wheel was a little too easy in maneuvering.when we went to vw to check it, they said that the had to update the software for the steering wheel.although we didn't get into an accident, i wonder how many of these cars go out the lot without knowing that the software needs to be updated. Or what other software needs to be updated for that matter.

Takata recall the ignition switch will not let me turn my car off

Car jerks, one fan do not work, oil leak, wind shield washer and coolant system.brought car from drive time in febuary 2013.i've noticed these problems when driving and parking.the car over heats as well.i also notified drive-time and was told to get another diagnostic test.i did not have the money for another.

My clock runs super fast...it runs ahead of time by hours in a matter of 3 days.

Purchased 2007 vw jetta vehicle and noticed a week later that the rear drivers side door will not work.had it repaired for nearly $500 and before i could get home the front passenger's door stopped proper function.this leads me to believe that there are defective actuators involved with so many malfunctions.this i would consider as a safety hazard that the manufacturer needs to address for the consumers.

I was unable to turn the key in the ignition in order to turn the car off. When i had started the car it did seem like the key was not turning at first, but then it started like normal. Once i drove to my first destination i was unable to turn the car off, so i drove to a repair shop where they had to take apart the ignition switch and steering wheel column to turn the car off.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle made a knocking noise and accelerated without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000. The vin was not provided.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the speed sensor and two fans needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer for inspection and they updated the software. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 74,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2007 volkswagen passat. The contact stated that while driving in a snowstorm, the windshield wipers stopped operating due to the heavy volume of snow, causing the contact's vision to be obscured. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed him that there was no repair for it but they could get the wipers to function. One year later, the failure occurred again. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The 2007 jetta 2.5has a front air vent which has been designed poorly and makes a rattling sound. The fixed it several times and it still make sounds and several of my friends have the same issue with their jetta.

Door mirrors corroding, drivers side broke off while hand washing with sponge.vw will not replace because warranty has expired. Car is five years old and in excellent condition, no sign of rust anywhere.

Was attempting to back up until vehicle struck an object that was obscured due to the headliner of the vehicle that has fallen off the ceiling. Headliner is almost completely obstructing all rear view through the rear glass of the car.

My sun roof exploded in my 2007 volkswagen jetta. There were no outside influences(rock)that could have caused this to happen.the sun roof was not made of safety glass and shattered into small pieces all over me and the inside of my car.there were small slivers everywhere.it was a very loud bang, which causedme to swerve. I was luck to not get any in my eyes, or i didn't have my kids in the car.i stopped at the dealership and they said it must have been a rock or something, and the volkswagen rep who was at the dealership didn't even come out to speak with me,or look at the car.i was told to settle it with my insurance. I called volkswagen directly, and was told that they could not do anything other than to suggest i go to my insurance.i explained the extreme safety hazard, and they just said sorry"we can't do anything at this point"case number 100150276.i reporting this because i believe this is a serious safety hazard, and could cause serious injury, or death.i looked online, and other have report the same thing happening to them, sun roof closed, and all of the sudden a loud pop, then glass everywhere, with no vehicles around.
