Se (w/ experience package), great falls green metallic, dsgit has only happened a couple of times so far and i can't really replicate it but when it happened i come to a pretty normal stop, and it feels like it does the auto start-stop function but the center console will say "manual restart required" or some such thing. Sure enough once i let go of the break it doesn't start back up. I have to put it in part and start it like normal.so the car just kind of stalls randomly when stopping.just normal stops too.also, every so often instead of stalling it will kind of stutter to a stop. Like you're quickly tapping on the breaks or it's just having trouble trying to stop smoothly.
I have been driving manual transmissions for almost 10 years. I have had the car stall on me three times while moving at low speeds while in first gear, specifically when parking and we starting to move again from a stop at a light. The engine shuts off almost as if the engine's start/stop feature engaged, not like a typical stall. The car is brand new with 350 miles as of today when it happened for the third time.
My vehicle stalls at idle for no reason. I have to restart my engine over and over when coming to a stop. It seems to happen more often when engine is warmed up. This is definitely a safety issue if you stall while waiting to turn left through traffic.
While driving at low speeds and coming to a stop, the engine may sputter as if it isn't getting the correct air/fuel mixture and shuts off. This is an s trim volkswagen gti with a manual transmission and driver assistance package. The incident(s) occurred while in neutral on the three occasions it has happened. The vehicle has 700 miles on the odometer. I believe this to be an engine/electrical system issue.
The vehicle seems to periodically stall when i'm traveling at low speeds, such as in parking lots, or slowing down to take a right or left turn. It has recurred enough (~4 times in 220 miles) to know it is not driver error.
I was fully stopped at a major intersection during rush hour in los angeles (santa monica blvd and sepulveda). The auto stop/start featured was on, so my engine had flipped off. When i took my foot off the brake the engine is supposed to re-engage, but instead my car stalled (resulting in the very upset bmw driver behind me nearly plowing into my car) and won't move. The epk light and some warning popped up on the screen, but i was too distracted by not getting killed that i didn't catch what it said. I had to turn my car fully off and then back on again to get my engine to restart. I then took my car to the vw dealer in santa monica. They took nearly two weeks and 150 miles of test drives to try to replicate the issue but couldn't so they replaced the starter. My epk light still regularly comes on when i start my car, and i then have to turn it off and back on again to get my car to start, and off hesitates flipping over in the auto stop/start states. Please note i am the first owner of my car, and i had only had my car for about 6 weeks at the time of this incident.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. On several occasions, after coming to a stop at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the auto stop/start function was disabled. Dirito brothers walnut creek volkswagen (2020 n main st, walnut creek, ca 94596, (925) 395-4981) was contacted and an appointment to have the vehicle diagnosed was scheduled. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 250.
Vehicle stalled out while coasting in neutral to a stop <5mph and stalled out almost immediately after restarting ignition 4 times until i gave it gas and held it above 1500 rpm. Vehicle is a rabbit edition 6 speed transmission -- stall was 100% not driver error and was in neutral. 891 miles on the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. When the clutch was depressed after coming to a stop, the engine stalled without warning. The contact also stated that the instrument panel failed to display the correct gear that was in use. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
Car will stall every other day or so. May also stall twice in one day. Seems to be more common when its warmer out. It stalls in neutral or in gear with clutch depressed when slowing down to a stop. Already had it to the dealer twice. Still stalls.
Car stalls when coming to a stop with foot in clutch. Also, if you shift from neutral to first, still with foot in clutch fully, it will sometimes stall. The random stalling is not cause by the user because the clutch is 100% depressed, yet the car still silently stalls. Along with this, the shift indicator is not always accurate, sometimes i may be in 3rd, yet it displays that i am in 4th.
Vehicle intermittently will stall out when coming to a complete stop, and must be manually restarted for each failure and the car successfully restarts every time with no issues. Each stall happened while vehicle was coming to a stop between 0 and 10 miles per hour with no warning, with the clutch fully depressed and the vehicle in neutral. The vehicle does not have an auto start/stop feature. The failure seems to be either electrical or mechanical in nature, and only occurs when the vehicle is completely up to operating temperature. This stalling issue has occurred a total of 15 times in the week that i have owned it, starting with the first day of purchase, but does not happen every time i drive the car. There is currently no check engine light, and no codes stored for this failure. The engine does sometimes run very rough right before it stalls, but this has only happened 3 times out of the total 15 failures that have occurred. The only secondary issue that may be related to this failure is an incorrect gear indication being shown on the dash, which i have only noticed a couple of times. Currently waiting for service at the dealership to look at the vehicle, however, they have informed me that they are not aware of any permanent solutions to this issue and they are aware that this is a common issue with this year make and model of vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. On several occasions, while slowing down to a stop, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to luther brookdale volkswagen (6801 brooklyn blvd, brooklyn center, mn 55429, (612) 424-7832) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. Volkswagen group of america informed the dealer to cease all repairs on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 190710424. The approximate failure mileage was 50.
As i slow down getting ready to come to a compete stop. Going from 3rd to second gear the cars gear indicator still says that i am in 3rd when physical the gear module is in the second position the minute the vehicle comes a completestop even in mutual. The car engine will just shut off. Issue consistent when car electric components thinks the car is in a particular gear than what's actually happening.
When coming to a stop the vehicle stalls out. Manual transmission, clutch fully depressed and the car stalls. Car also stalls on restart of the engine. Dealer has not found a cause.
Bought a brand new 2019 vw golf gti rabbit edition manual 6-speed on january 14, 2019 and had it die out almost like a "putter" until the engine shut off while i was driving it today april 17, 2019. Happened when i was coming to a stop with the clutch in and in first gear. When i restarted the car using the push ignition i then had it die on me twice more. Luckily this happened when i was nearly home... I was able to finally get the car started and rev the engine just enough to get back on my way but then had it die on me again when pulling into my driveway at home. The car still has less than 800 miles on it and has been properly driven since taken off the car dealer's lot.
My brand new 2019 golf gti s 6mt has stalled about 4 times since the purchase of 12/30/19the car currently has about 86 miles on it odometer.it does not matter whether the car is in gear or neutral, while the clutch is down, the car slowly turns off the engine by itself
Car has under 200 miles. Engine repeatedly turns off once stationary, at stops, such as intersections, yield zones, and freeway on and off ramps with traffic lights or stop signs. The engine turns off without warning or notifications, and has to be restarted by driver. Unknown components/systems.taken to vw service center, was road tested, and they were unable to duplicate complaint and noted vw corp had advised resets.
16000 miles. Check engine light on and off. Purge vale replaced, two weeks later leak detection pump failed and needs replacement.volkswagen claims leak detection pump is on national back-order with unknown time of arrival.
Vehicle has stalled twice while slowing down to a stop, with clutch fully pressed in. This happened to a 2019 vw gti rabbit edition cornflower blue.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle experienced a loss of power with the clutch pedal depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed by roadside assistance to hamilton volkswagen (2200 nj-33, hamilton square, nj 08690, (609) 587-7600) where it was diagnosed that the adaptation ecm needed to be reset. The vehicle was currently at the dealer and a loaner vehicle was provided. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, provided case number: 190628328, and started an investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
I purchased the car as new in tampa, fl on january 17, 2020. The trim level is autobahn, and its transmission is a six speed manual. On three occasions, when slowing to a stop, with both clutch pedal and brake pedal depressed, the engine has died. In two of these incidents the engine did not restart on first attempt, but only on the second try. The current odometer reading is just under 400 miles. The time between these incidents was 2 to 10 days apart. None of these incidents occurred on a thoroughfare. One was on my driveway, whereas the other two were in a store or restaurant parking area. Aside from these three episodes, the car drives perfectly. Two date from the last two weeks of january, 2020, whereas the third was on february 1, 2020.
My 2019 rabbit dsg gti is stalling when coming to a stop. It happens usually when the car is already warm. When it starts happening, the issue comes up several times in the following stops. I have to put the transmission into p mode to turn the car on, having the car stopped for a while. Almost got rear ended because of this issue. Attached is a video of it happening (filmed on a private parking garage).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dcgeoxyjdi
Stalls at low speeds, e.g. Coming to a stop with clutch pedal depressed.has happened 3x (so far) in the first 800 miles of driving.car is a 6mt.car has 900 miles on it as of 5/24/2019.
Engine stalled and stopped running while vehicle was in 2nd gear with clutch pedal fully depressed while slowing to a stop at a red light. Dash remained illuminated and engine was restarted with start/stop button.
Car stalled twice sitting in neutral at a stop sign.
Bought a new 2019 vw gti rabbit edition in 6 speed manual. The vehicle stalls and has stalled at least 10 times and i've had it for 2 days. Its very concerning. I've made an appointment to take it in, and i've called vw customer care to let them know. It happens while coming to a stop, has happened in the middle of the intersection.
The first time was a couple weeks ago when the engine stalled out as i was pulling up to a stop sign in 2nd gear with the clutch depressed.i was able to start the engine back up and continue operating afterwards.the second time was just last thursday when the engine stalled as i was pulling into a parking spot, again with the clutch depressed.
Car is at 3500 miles, bought new from dealer. Car is manual transmission. Car has been fine until 5/11/19. While stuck in highway traffic, the car stalled with the clutch depressed. 10 minutes after the incident, this time off the highway, the car stalled with the clutch depressed again when i was stopping at a stop sign. In case #1) i was in 1st gear. The stall was very smooth and not noticed by passengers (i noticed it due to tachometer falling to 0). The clutch was %100 depressed #2) i was in 3rd or 4th gears. I was slowing down for a stop sign. When i came to a stop, the car stalled. I was alert due to the first incident and made sure to take note of what happened. The clutch was once again depressed.in both cases, the car stalled and left me without the ability to accelerate or steer. Luckily theproblem happened while stopping and not at high speeds.
Has been stalling out at low speed to low rpms.when coming to a stop hold the clutch in while in gear will softly stall or while out of gear and clutch is not pressed in it will stall out as well. Happened 6 times in a 10 mile trip.
When coming to a stop, and pressing on clutch pedal, car intermittently cuts off power
Whether the car is in gear or not the vehicle will stall out. When vehicle is in gear and clutch is fully depressed the vehicle will stall. Does not matter if it is 1st gear or reverse the same will happen.
2019 vw gti s with the 6 speed manual transmission in white. The car stalls out. It happens when it's in neutral, as i come to a stop (not in gear, and the clutch is not depressed). It stalls out the way a car would stall when you come to a stop when you are in gear. The car was just purchased 7 days ago. It currently has 105 miles on it and this has happened 5 different times. Build date of 3/19
Vehicle engine shutoff at very low speed, stopping at a traffic light. This has happened 4 times. Each time the clutch was fully engaged.
When at idle or coming to a stop, with the car in neutral and the clutch pedal not engaged the vehicle will soft stall and require a key turn to start the motor again. This has happened several times on a brand new vehicle. 6spd manual
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while depressing the clutch pedal. Also, the gear shift displayed the wrong gear position intermittently. The contact stated that both of the failures occurred without warning. The contact took the vehicle to leith volkswagen of cary (2300 auto park blvd, cary, nc 27511, (919) 297-1640) to have the software updated, but the update failed to produce any results. The contact discovered that the defect was currently part of nhtsa action number: dp19003 (engine, power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 300.
I am concerned when coming to a stop unexpectedly my car will start to idle rough and then stall. I'm concerned it will happen while driving and that i could be hit. Currently it happens at low speed when stopping and i cannot keep the car running when i start it up again. I am having to rev the engine to keep it running and move off the road. My car has a manual transmission and the clutch is fully pressed down when this happens. I have more than 3/4 tank of gas when this happened.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While at a stop, the vehicle shut off without warning. The failure recurred several times. The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 17,030. *dt
Vehicle stalls intermittently when coming to a stop. No check engine light.

The engine stall coming up on a stop.the clutch is fully depressed and gear in neutral.this has happened almost every day.
2019 gti s with manual transmission was leased and picked up on 7/13/19. Car engine shuts down intermittently while stopped after decelerating at low speeds (primarily city driving). The car shuts down with either a fully-engaged clutch (engine rpms are at around 1100 when clutch is depressed in preparation for stop) or in neutral. When stopped, engine idles at 800rpm and then shuts down softly. Car restarts right away by turning key. Today, car stalled six times between 7:50am and 8:20am while driving on a 25 mph street with traffic lights. It does not shut down at every stop, and when it does, it does so with both a/c on and off. Engine temperature is normal, and outside temperature was 73 degrees. Current mileage is 300 miles, but the issue started almost immediately after leaving dealership. Yesterday drove almost 300 miles. Car performs well at highway speeds, but the stalling started as soon as it entered city traffic with traffic lights. Brought into dealership this morning after the six stalls without an appointment; service manager seemed to be aware of the issue. Car currently at dealership.
Vehicle was purchased on 5/27/19. Vehicle has just over 1000 miles. Issue first started day after the purchase. The vehicle's engine will intermittently stall after coming to a stop. The nature of the stall is subtle, not jerky. Almost like a auto start/stop feature on a vehicle with an auto transmission (my gti has a 6-speed manual). This has happened 10 times now. Ive had it happen with the clutch pedal pressed (clutch disengaged) and the vehicle gear shifter in neutral and also in gear. Ive also had it happen with the clutch pedal not pressed (clutch engaged) and the gear shifter in neutral. Car restarts fine, but this is definitely a safety issue that can lead to accidents.
The issue presents itself slowing down to a stop, where the engine will soft stall and require restarting. This occurs when the transmission is in gear with the clutch depressed and also when the the transmission is in neutral.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and was able to drive off. The vehicle repeatedly came to a stop or stalled without warning. The contact purchased the vehicle over a week ago. The contact called charles maund volkswagen (6900 burnet rd, austin, tx 78757, (512) 458-1111) and was informed that they were booked with appointments. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 440.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. When approaching a traffic light, the vehicle turned off without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The contact called bayside volkswagen (located at 208-12 northern blvd, bayside, ny 11361, (347) 851-8550) and informed them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 730.
Car stalls at low speeds while clutch is fully engaged. Soft shutdown almost feels like the auto start/stop on automatic models.. This happened three times this morning while coming onto a military base where there is typically stop and start traffic. No cel or errors on dash.
While commuting in stop-and-go morning traffic, my car stalled twice on the highway. In both instances i was slowing down and moving the stick shift into neutral.
My 2019 vw gti-s is equipped with a dsg transmission. I was driving it in manual sport mode on the freeway on sunday 1 march 2020. After getting off of the freeway and onto the city surface streets, the car stalled when i came to a stop. I thought it was because i had not turned off the engine start/stop defeat feature off but that was not the case. Another 6-7 stalls occurred as i drove the car the few miles back home after dropping off a friend. There were 4-5 previous individual incidents prior to sunday. On monday 2 march while i drove the car home on the freeway in stop and go commute traffic there were no problems; however after exiting the freeway the car stalled again 3 separate times after i came to a full stop at the signals and stop signs leading to my home.as far as i am concerned, this is a dangerous situation and i am worried since the principal driver of this car will eventually be my wife. She is often driving on the streets of the san francisco bay area. It is easy to get read ended as the driver in back of you expects you to accelerate quickly away from the green signal light or stop sign after you have stopped. It takes time to shift the gear lever back into neutral or park to start the car again. Since i am putting in the "break-in" miles on the car i have experienced this exact situation and have gotten honked for not moving away swiftly from the intersection as one normally would on the city streets.the gti currently has 671 miles on the odometer. I am taking the car in to the dealership today and hoping that they will buy it back so i can get my wife into a safer model.
Bought a new 2019 vw gti 's' in 6 speed manual. The vehicle stalls and has stalled at least 10 times and i've had it for about a week. Its very concerning. I've made an appointment to take it in tomorrow, and i've called vw customer care to let them know. It happens while coming to a stop, has happened in the middle of the intersection. I see many others are having the exact same issue but vw is currently unwilling to acknowledge the problem. Sounds like many different parts have been replaced for various consumers to no avail. Most stories i've read have ended in vw buying back the lemons...
While driving at low speed the engine will stall
16000 miles. Check engine light on and off. Purge vale replaced, two weeks later leak detection pump failed and needs replacement.volkswagen claims leak detection pump is on national back-order with unknown time of arrival.
Car stalled when in neutral at a stoplight.
Since i have owned the car, it periodically stalls while in neutral. The car stutters and shuts off several times daily. I took the car in to service, and they were unable to correct the issue after 4 days.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While the contact's vehicle was idling at a traffic light and waiting to make a left turn, the vehicle seized and turned off. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred shortly afterwards. The vehicle was taken to charles maund volkswagen (located at 6900 burnet rd, austin, tx 78757, (512) 458-1111), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 105.

Car sporadically stalls at stop while clutch is depressed.usually in 1st gear but sometimes neutral or 2nd.i notice it more when engine sound is set to sport mode.usually the stall is silent, twice the car slightly shuddered.dealer has had it for a week with no ability to predictably recreate. No codes/faults are thrown, thus no diagnosis.car is at warmed up operating temperature when stalls occur. Stalls are always on city streets on a straight path (i.e. Tires are not in a turned position). Purchased car with 12 miles on it, stall occurred 5 times between 20 and 85 miles.dealer sent me home with instruction to come back if it happens again; car stalled 3 miles away from the dealership and i immediately returned the car to them for further research.still no diagnosis.
My vehicle stalls at idle for no reason. I have to restart my engine over and over when coming to a stop. It seems to happen more often when engine is warmed up. This is definitely a safety issue if you stall while waiting to turn left through traffic.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While pulling into a parking area with the clutch engaged, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart after the third attempt. The contact mentioned that the failure was the same as the failure listed in nhtsa action number: dp19003. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101.
When coming to a stop the vehicle stalls out. Manual transmission, clutch fully depressed and the car stalls. Car also stalls on restart of the engine. Dealer has not found a cause.
Vehicle died when stopping at red light in evening rush hour. There was no shutter with the engine shutoff. Did not notice engine was off and when attempted to accelerate from a stand still, i noticed the vehicle was off. This happened half a mile later at an additional stop light. There were no warning or lights on the dashboard.
My 2019 rabbit edition gti 6-speed manual stalls when it's stationary at a stop sign or a stoplight with the clutch fully pressed in. It happens while in 1st gear and if the car is in neutral. The car also fails to turn on after stalling sometimes and immediately shuts off after restarting. My car has stalled 5 times while in bumper to bumper traffic. This vehicle is brand new and can be a safety issue if it's not fixed. I have contacted volkswagen but they're unable to replicate the issue. This is an issue a lot of customers with the brand new 2019 rabbit edition gti's are having and needs to be addressed. Here is a link to the forums of evidence that it as happened to multiple vehicles: https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?p=778941
I have the 6-speed manual transmission. While commuting home on surface streets and stopped at a stoplight with the car in neutral and the clutch out, the car randomly stalls. This only has happened while idling at a stoplight/stop sign.i have plenty of gas and no cel comes up. The engine is warm. It happens within 1-2 seconds after coming to a complete stop with the car in neutral. It has happened many times but then easily starts again. It's a very gentle stall and almost feels like the car has auto stop/start, which my car does not. Fortunately, the dealership was able to recreate the stalling. They even contacted and worked with vwoa but were not able to determine exactly what the problem was. They had the car for close to 2 weeks tried several different fixes, but none worked. So when all else fails, they did a 'capacitive hard reboot' of the system and everything seemed to be fixed. However, after i picked the car up from the dealership, it stalled twice on my drive home. Now, it's been a couple of weeks since then and it hasn't stalled since, but it doesn't give me much confidence that it won't return if they don't know what the reboot did.
Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop. This has happened 4 times in the past 5 days. I have a 2019 volkswagen gti rabbit edition with a 6 speed manual that was manufactured 12/18. When i roll to a stop in neutral, the car has stalled. Today was the first time it stalled while being in 1st gear with the clutch all the way down and coming to a stop. Once i am completely stopped, the engine stalls. There is no shuttering, the engine just turns off.
2019 manual transmission gti stalling when coming to a stop with foot on clutch. Started happening two days after purchase on 6/02/2019, after approximately 600 miles on vehicle i did not experience stalling. Vehicle now has approximately 2100 miles, and i have experienced the stalling multiple times over the past two days. It happens more often after driving the car spiritedly, and i can consistently get the car to have the issue when driving spiritedly. Happens at random during normal driving. Vehicle also loses electronically assisted power steering during fault.
~3000 miles on 6 speed manual 2019 vw gti. On multiple occasions (~10) the vehicle quietly stalled while depressing the clutch in first and second gear as approaching a stop sign. The vehicle repeatedly stalled immediately after turning the ignition back on occurred multiple times.
When coming to a stop the car dies ocassionally. I am concerned for my safety when the car dies at a stop. And i cannot move forward without restarting the car. This has happened 10+ times.
The engine stalled after coming to a stop with the manual transmission in neutral.
The vehicle seems to periodically stall when i'm traveling at low speeds, such as in parking lots, or slowing down to take a right or left turn. It has recurred enough (~4 times in 220 miles) to know it is not driver error.
During street and highway driving, the engine stalls after the vehicle is brought to a complete stop with clutch depressed and/or transmission in neutral.occurs with engine at operating temperature irrespective of initial speed or engaged gear prior to commencement of braking and deceleration. Immediately prior to the stall, the engine runs rough or seems to be misfiring for one or two seconds.once the first event occurs, it will then repeat 25-50% of the time the vehicle is decelerated to a stop.
The car is randomly stalling out on me. After reading several articles on the internet i now see this is a known issue. It is currently at my local volkswagen service center. It happened after my first 10k mike service and has stalled 4 or 5 times in the past two days once on a highway. This is extremely concerning.
The engine stalls when approaching a stop despite being in neutral.the stall is gentle (not sudden).each time, the coolant and oil temperature were at regular operating temperatures (warmed up, not cold).this has happened 3 times thus far, at approximately 30 miles, 120 miles, and 500 miles on the odometer.this car is with the manual transmission.
After the engine has warmed up, car will occasionally stall even with clutch fully depressed and coming to a stop. The stall is gentle, like the engine is just switched off. The car doesnot lurch.
6mt rabbit edition. Car has occasionally softly stalled/engine shuts off while in neutral when coming to a stop or slow. Happens without any warning or consistency. Car will restart again without any problem.
6mt model with about 600 miles. Car unexpectedly stalls at slow speed with clutch fully depressed in city driving while turning. Stalls quietly and without reason. Seems to e a common issue among 2019 models.
The car has a six speed manual transmission and occasionally stalls with the clutch fully depressed, the transmission in gear, and vehicle speed below 5mph, for instance when approaching a red light or stop sign. Pressing the car's start button upon reaching a full stop re-starts the car. This has happened more than a dozen times over the past two weeks.
As i slowed down coming to a stop sign, i put the car in neutral. When i came to a complete stop, the engine shut off as if it was an auto off/auto on feature. The engine did not turn back on automatically. This happened immediately after at the next stop light. A few days later, the same thing happened.
Brand new car 6sp manual transmission. The car died when rolling to a stop in neutral twice. This was on my first extended drive in the car after purchasing.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While driving, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact also stated that the failure occurred eight times on august 23, 2019 and three times on august 26, 2019. The vehicle was driven to coastal volkswagen (1 saturn dr, hanover, ma 02339), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200.
The car will randomly stall when coming to a stop. As of 5/23, the car has 1,030 miles on it. It happened a few times at about 400-500 miles and then it went away, but recently it has been happening a few times a day. This happens intermittently while coming to a stop either already in neutral, and it has also happened while rolling to a stop with the clutch depressed. It is not your typical stall, there is no jerkiness and the engine just silently shuts down. Would be hard to notice if eyes are not on the rpm, it just dies and hits 0 rpm.
Car stalls unexpectedly when clutch depressed while coasting at low speeds, generally approaching a stop (e.g. Traffic light). Recurring issue. Car also stalls unexpectedly while in neutral with clutch released when coasting at low speeds. Serious safety issue for engine to turn off unexpectedly while driving on city streets.
I have a 2019 volkswagen gti 6 speed manual transmission.while i was out running errands to the local food store and hardware store, i came to a complete and full stop at astop sign.at this time the car was in neutral with the clutch pedal disengaged and the brake pedal depressed. I noticed the car had a soft stall. This happened a total of about 6 times. It is almost as if the car has the auto stop feature that turns the engine off at a full and complete stop but my car is not equipped with that option. I feel as if the engine is the problem because it is cutting off. I also feel it could be the transmission thinking that the car is in a different gear and not enough rpms to sustain that gear. I also feel it could be a vacuum leak which is not sending the right signals to the engine computer or something else. At the time of this happening it was sunny and in mid fifties in temperature.
The car will stall while in neutral or with the clutch fully depressed in 1st gear when slowing to a stop. It happened in a parking lot while coasting in neutral to a stop. It then happened three more times in stop and go traffic. It seems to happen randomly; there is nothing specifically that seems to trigger it or prevent it. The car will simply cut out and die while out of gear and slowing to a stop below 10mph. Clearly stalling randomly in traffic is a safety concern for myself and those around me and volkswagen needs to address it.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While driving from highway to city traffic, the vehicle stalled while the clutch was engaged. The vehicle restarted, but the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to cochran volkswagen of north hills (11750 us-19, wexford, pa 15090, (412) 245-4620) where they re-flashed the acu three times with some difficulty on the third attempt. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 163. *as
My car has only 800 miles on it.the car is equipped with a manual transmission and no auto stop/start system.when slowing down approaching a red light, i push the clutch in and move the shift lever to neutral.during the last 5mph or so, the car will quietly stall.i only notice it stalled when i try to get moving again and realize i have to start the car.this has happened five times in the past two weeks.i want to note that i have found reports of the same exact issue with other 2019 vw gti owners on several car forums.many of the owners mention bringing the car to the dealer and the dealer stating they "cannot replicate the issue."i'm reluctant to bring it to the dealer as the issue is very difficult to reproduce and seems to happen at random.i also can't afford to be without my car for a day or two while they attempt to diagnose the problem with no results.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at a low speed and slowed down to a stop. The failure specifically occurred when the clutch was depressed. The vehicle was taken to gene langan volkswagen (816 new london turnpike, glastonbury, ct 06033, (860) 633-0261) where the software and throttle body adaptation settings were reset. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and a loaner vehicle was not available. The vehicle was covered by a new warranty with it being purchased on july 21, 2019. The manufacturer gave the contact a case number and assigned a case manager. The failure mileage was 500.
When coming to a stop clutch pedal is down and brake is applied. Vehicle stalls as it comes to a stop. After a 15 mile drive, first freeway and then stop and go streets. Happened the second time after putting vehicle into reverse and clutch was still pressed in to back up my driveway.
The car will stall when slowing down to a stop in neutral, then will require restarting. Problem is more persistent in warmer temperature and also when the oil temperature is above 220 degrees. However does not cause cel or throw any codes. I am concerned about my safety operating the vehicle in this condition because i constantly have to restart the car which can put me in very dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while in neutral. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to archer volkswagen (888-240-2471, located at 10400 sw fwy, houston, tx 77074) and an appointment was scheduled for the following week. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was provided case number: 190735652. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop with foot depressed on clutch.
The car will shut off when coming to a stop and when moving at low speeds. This happens when car is in nutreal and clutch is depressed 100%. This is a soft shut off and not the same as stalling the vehicle. My car is a 6 speed manual transmission.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While driving at low speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to west houston volkswagen (17113 katy fwy, houston, tx 77094, (281) 675-8600) who stated that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 190730197. The failure mileage was 500.
Re: nhtsa action number dp19003. I have a 2019 gti se 6mt.at low speeds, coming to a stop, with clutch engaged, the car will stall.no warning lights or noticeable sounds appear, but the engine just turns off.sometimes you don't know it's off until you try to accelerate.a couple of times the engine would quietly shut off while the car was in motion with clutch engaged and gear in neutral.the frequency of this occurence is higher when im in stop and go traffic.i purchased my car brand new yesterday, 11/18/2019, with less than 30 miles.the stalling occurred the next day on 11/19/2019 in bumper to bumper traffic.to proivde context, i've been driving manual transmissions 13 years, with my previous car being a 6mt 2013 gti, and never encountered this type of issue before.to test whether it's human error, i conciously pressed down on the clutch as hard as i could and kept it engaged until full stop to ensure i wasn't releading too early, but the issue still persisted.i've stalled over 10 times in a day, which appears to occur at random, but moreso during low speed, stop and go driving.because of the subtle engine shutoff, left turns from a standstill can be extremely dangerous due to stalling on oncoming traffic without knowing your engine is off, amongst the other dangerous implications of this issue.please consider this a serious issue, which appears to be impacting many other 2019 gti 6mt owners.
Car stalls at slow speeds and when fully stopped. The stall has happened 4 times: twice while moving at roughly 5mph towards a red light, and twice while stopped at red lights. In each case, the clutch pedal was fully on the floor and brake pedal was engaged. It is brand new car and the first stall happened at roughly 160 miles on the odometer. The last stall was at 191.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled when the clutch was fully depressed and the gear was in neutral. The contact stated that the failure occurred when the engine was warmed up. The vehicle was taken to demontrond volkswagen (14101 north freeway, houston tx, 77090, (281) 872-3855) to be diagnosed, but a failure could not be found. The dealer reset the computer, but the failure was not corrected. The vehicle continued to stall when the engine was warmed up. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 12,000.
Engine stalls at low speeds with the clutch in (urano grey 6-speed manual).sometimes the engine dies quick and clean, sometimes sputters/flutters and then dies.car needs to be restated in traffic - dangerous!happens pretty rarely, but happened 4 times within city-ish 50 miles, so certainly a concern!new car has less than 400 miles on it.
New vehicle with less than 1000 miles, stalls at low speed without warning.must restart car to get it moving again.happens very often with clutch depressed/not depressed, whether in gear or in neutral. Happens in an intersection will eventually lead to accidents.
When i am slowing down to a stop and i have the car out of gear, the engine will soft stall and require restarting. This happens in traffic and is very disorienting.
I have encountered a serious issue with my 2019 volkswagen gti that i purchased in june of this year. The car stalls unexpectedly when the clutch is depressed while coasting low speeds, generally when approaching a stop light/sign or sometimes even while in neutral. This is a recurring issue that started last week when the car had ~980 miles on the odometer. This is a serious safety concern that i am not in the least comfortable with as this has happened in an intersection.
The car soft stalls when i stop at a light or stop sign. The clutch can be full engaged, or not but is never in gear. When i come to a complete stop the car stalls and shuts off. Some times the cars stalls so softly that i can't tell the engine has shut off. I will have to start it again before i can get moving. I have 1400 miles on a new be gti rabbit edition and this problem started roughly 200 miles ago but has gotten much more frequent in the last 50 miles
The car shuts off the engine at very low speed. There was no jerkiness. The engine simple stopped. One time it was at a parking lot when pulling to the parking spot. The engine shuts off. Another time the engine shuts off without warning after coming to a full stop at a stop sign.
The car stalls when either driving very slowly or stopped. I bought it wednesday, july 10th. It first stalled yesterday, while i was in neutral at a stop light. Today it stalled four more times. Three times in a parking lot and once at a stop light. The car had normal engine temperature. When it stalls it's so quiet and subtle that it's difficultto notice. Each time the vehicle was stationary and in neutral. I entered several issues, as i'm unsure what is actually affected.
Car will stall every other day or so. May also stall twice in one day. Seems to be more common when its warmer out. It stalls in neutral or in gear with clutch depressed when slowing down to a stop. Already had it to the dealer twice. Still stalls.
Caris vw golf gti with six-speed manual transmission.car has 400 miles from new.while coming to a stoplight at slow speed, with clutch pedal fully depressed and transmission in neutral, engine turned off.the action was so quiet that it was not noticeable.when the light turned green, i engaged first gear and released the clutch pedal, but did not move forward.only then did i realize that the engine was not running.after depressing the clutch pedal and pressing the start button, the engine re-started immediately and i was able to move off as normal.
My brand new 2019 golf gti s 6mt has stalled about 4 times since the purchase of 12/30/19the car currently has about 86 miles on it odometer.it does not matter whether the car is in gear or neutral, while the clutch is down, the car slowly turns off the engine by itself
Upon coming to a complete stop with the clutch firmly and completely pressed, the engine then stalls.this occurs only after driving on regular streets stop and go for approximately 20 minutes.it will then stall at complete stops infrequently and it occurs probably about 5 times every 15 minutes.this has happened every time i have driven the car since i picked it up brand new on 5/11/19.it is now back in the shop for them to fix it for a second time.
Vehicle will spontaneously turn off engine or stall while decelerating from speeds of approximately less than 20 mph. Car will stall with clutch depressed or not, steering wheel loses power assist, and car needs to be restarted. Engine shut off occurs while vehicle is in motion and has occurred approximately 5 times in first 800 miles of ownership.
Engine stalls when coming to a stop specifically inwarmer weather, the car can be in first or neutral when it stalls.it feels like the 'auto stop' feature in some automatic cars.my model is a manual.the speedometer says anywhere from 0-8 mph when it looses power.it is very subtle and at first, i didn't even notice until i started to accelerate at a green light. I have a 15 mile commute.the first 10 miles consist of some city driving to get to the highway--no problems there.after getting off the highway, every stop i made (approximately 10), the car stalled.it does immediately restart with the start button.
During pre-purchase test drive of vehicle (2019 gti rabbit edition, manual with ~10 miles on odometer), the vehicle unexpectedly stalled as i was coming to a stop.i was approximately 10 minutes into the test drive.clutch was out, vehicle was in neutral, car was stopped.car had to be restarted.i did not purchase that car but they are still trying to sell it as new.i had 2 witnesses present.this was the 2rd brand new 2019 gti i have tested that unexpectedly stalls like this.
Unexpected stallingvehicle stalls with clutch completely depressed
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while in first gear. The failure recurred twice and there were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called faulkner volkswagen mechanicsburg (6631 carlisle pike, mechanicsburg, pa 17050, (717) 590-5230) and scheduled an appointment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 190854945. The failure mileage was approximately 15.
Recently purchased a 2019 gti brand new with 16 miles. Left the dealer and within 5 miles my car suddenly stalled while pulling up to a red light. Thought it was due to user error. Continued to drive and had 6 more stalls within 16 miles. Returned to dealer service center. I was made to feel like it was a driver problem. I left the car and was called the next day that the tech couldn't duplicate the issue. I refused to leave the dealer because i knew this was a real issue. I insisted that the tech come out driving with me. Drove for about 10 minutes and at the light before getting back to the dealer it happened!car was left in the shop for 6 more days while they fixed the issue. Received the car back a week later and was told they called vw and were given a fix. Apparently there was debris from the manufacturing plant on a sensor and that was causing it. Replaced the sensor and everything was back to normal..... For a week and a half. This morning i was driving in traffic and it happened again. 3 times in a matter of 10 minutes in fact. Took the car straight back to the dealer and was once again made to feel like i was doing something wrong. Once again had to go test drive the car with a tech. Lucky this is a real issue and it happened with the tech video recording the event. Was told that he needs to call vw and figure out the next steps. At some point a fix is needed or i need to figure out the next steps. Luckily it has only happened at low speeds. I'm sincerely hoping for a fix shortly.
Car has manual transmission. Car unexpectedly stalls out when slowing to a stop in city driving. Although restarting the engine is no problem, it sometimes will stall repeatedly requiring multiple restarts. I have not been able to figure out what is causing the problem, nor can i force it to happen.
Vehicle stalls unpredictably, usually when approaching a stop but sometimes just when slowing down. Issue occurs with vehicle in gear with clutch depressed or in neutral, or with both. Has been occurring since car was brand new.
Vehicle unexpectedly stalls while stationary in first gear, clutch fully depressed. Car will idle rough than stall. Vehicle unexpectedly stalls when approaching a stop in first gear. Sometimes stalls quietly, like the car turned off. Had the car a week and happened about 10+ times. Dealer told me can't replicate the problem, nothing to fix. Called vw corporate to let them know.
I purchased this car with only 600 miles on it and have had it for 3 days. It is a 6 speed manual transmission and not the first manual i have ever had. When coming to a stop, if the clutch is engaged fully, the car will soft stall leaving me to have to restart the car to get moving. The stall is so subtle that every time it has happened i didn't realize it until i pressed the gas and the car did nothing.this is a very dangerous problem that vw is failing to recognize. For example, it happened while i was slowing down in the turning lane to take a left turn across traffic. With the clutch fully depressed i downshifted to first gear and began to turn across the oncoming lane. As i began to apply throttle and release the clutch i noticed the car had stalled and was forced to restart the car. This all happened while i was sitting in the oncoming lane of traffic which could have easily caused an accident if there had been cars coming.at first i thought that it was my doing so i spent some time trying to recreate the issue. About 1 in every 5 stops with the clutch fully engaged, whether in gear or in neutral, the car will stall when it comes to a stop. This is not normal behavior or due to inexperience. I have never had a manual vehicle where the engine would ever stall with the clutch fully engaged.after doing a little research online this is apparently a wide spread issue that is affecting brand new 2019 gti's with the manual transmission. Vw is failing to acknowledge that there is a problem and this negligence will ultimately lead to an accident that could cost somebody their life. Something needs to be done!
2019 gti rabbit edition, 6m, urano grey. I have expierincing frequent engine stalls coming up to a stop, clutch all the way depressed, in my 2,000 miles since buying new in feb. Seems like it could be a safety issue if happens in middle of busy intersection. The stalls now are happening more frequent. Hope this problem gets sorted soon by vw. There are many complaints about this already filed with nhtsa as well as the vw gti forums. (golfmk7.com) it seems by reading other same complaints, always happens while coming to a stop and with the 6 speed manuals. (clutch always fully depressed)
Vehicle stalls sporadically when moving slow or at a complete stop. Vehicle also experiences rough idle sporadically. The vehicle so far has only stalled when the car is warmed. The rough idle happens both when the car is cold and warmed. This has happened since the vehicle had 40 miles and had continued now that the vehicle has 2000 miles.
The engine cuts out/stalls when the car comes to a complete stop. No sounds, no signs, the engine just dies.clutch pedal is fully depressed.it's sporadic and has happened 7 times since i purchased the car on 11/29.most recently happened before making a left turn across traffic. I am unable to pinpoint any factors that lead to this happening(on a hill, flat, oil temp, stop and go traffic, in gear vs in neutral).i've been driving manual transmission since 1995. It is not driver error.car was manufactured on 08/19
This car was purchased new from crestmont vw in nj one month ago. It has a manual transmission and when the clutch is engaged and i'm coming to a halt, the car has stalled multiple times. This first happened within the first week of owning the car, and now occurs at least once every other day or so (sometimes more frequently). It has happened when in neutral and when in second gear, though the clutch is always in. The car is at the dealer right now. I explained the situation and they could not reproduce the problem and the car's computer wasn't producing any diagnostic codes. Initially they told me that there was nothing they could do. I then spoke to a manager, showed him online forums where customers were reporting the exact same problem, and to his credit he agreed to keep the car to investigate further.
Manual transmission car stalls at low speeds and at idle. Happens with the clutch fully to the floor, in neutral, and also while in gear. Car has stalled 3 times in sequence sitting at a red light. Also has stalled after getting off highway 6 times now, each time while slowing for a red light or stopped. Total of 9 or so stalls now. Car is brand new, purchased with 33 miles on it. Now up to about 300 miles total.
While coming to a stop with the clutch depressed the engine cuts out. The engine has also cut out a few seconds after coming to a full stop with the clutch fully depressed. This has occurred multiple times, always while braking or immediately after braking while stationary. I am able to restart the car manually after this behavior. The car is new with 250 miles driven. The car does not register a check engine light or otherwise indicate any problem.
The engine would stall when approaching a stop. Sometimes engine would also stall at low speeds
My 2019 vw gti rabbit dsg is throwing cel light and intermittently stalling asking me to manually start the engine. Been into the dealer 4 times for p050a cel and stalling. Vw says this has been happening to the manuals, not the dsg. The cel light for p050a comes on randomly but the stalling happens most after the car comes to a stop. I thought it was the start stop system but the car asks for it to be restarted randomly.
The problem started less than 24 hours from taking delivery of the vehicle with 16 miles on the odometer. The first incident happened at 111 miles on the odometer, 90 degrees ambient temp, oil temp 210.the engine dies when approaching a stop with the clutch depressed. Does it in neutral and when in first or second gear. Gauges remain on with lighting, tach at zero. After stalling the car starts with a push of the starter button, foot on brake and clutch depressed. If the car stalls when parking the gauges remain on with lighting, tach at zero. The car must be restarted and then shut off with the started button for the gauges and the rest of the cars electrics to power down. Not safe to drive.
Car engine has stalled multiple times while pulling up to a stop. Car is a six speed manual and was out of gear at the time the stall occurred
Petition for defect investigation into the excessive stalling problem the owners and operators of the 2019 volkwagen gti suffer as compared to similar class and model year vehicles from other manufacturers. *ldthe consumer stated the failure occurred when the driver slows to a stop or prepares to make a turn with the clutch depressed and in neutral. The engine then turns off without warning.
On jan 29, 2019, i purchased the car new, from a dealer in south florida with approximately 13 miles on the odometer. The vehicle has a manual transmission. After driving the vehicle less than one mile from the dealer, the vehicle stalled at a stop light. At the time, the vehicle was stationary, in neutral, with the clutch petal in the fully raised position, and had been idling for about 10 minutes prior to the occurrence. I restarted the car and within a few seconds, the car stalled again under the same conditions.i returned to the dealer to have the car inspected. On the short drive back, the car stalled 3 additional times under similar circumstances. The dealer couldn't find any explanation for the stalling. Unable to replicate the issue, i drove the car for approximately 150 more miles. On february 1, 2019, the issue recurred, again at a stoplight under similar conditions.i can assert, with confidence, that none of the occurrences were due to driver error. Additionally, the car is not equipped with an auto-start system (which could have explained the behavior).although the issue has not resurfaced since then (now about 3000 miles later), the car exhibits a rough idle, especially when started cold. There is no visible fluctuation in the rpms on the tachometer, but i can audibly hear and feel the engine "skipping".the car build date was october 2018.
The engine stalls when you have the car in neutral and the car is coming to a stop while pressing the brake. Today it happen 5 times and the dealership is. Clueless about this problem
Vehicle stalls without warning.usually when backing out of the garage then coming to a stop in neutral with the clutch fully engaged.
Engine stalling when slowing or coming to a stop at city speeds with transmission in neutral. Engine shuts off smoothly (similar to ignition switch off) and restarts easily.
Coming to a stop, clutch all the way in, the car will stall.it is not your typical "jumpy" driver error stall, but rather it feels as if the engine just shuts down.its very subtle and the only way you even know its happening is that you see your rpms drop off.always happening when coming to a stop.difficult to bring the problem to the dealer because it is difficult to reproduce on command.
Car stalls when coasting to (or just arrived at) standstill with clutch pedal fully depressed. Car is 6spd manual transmission. Two occurrences of stalling in first 500 miles of ownership. Attempts to restart fail for two to three tries (car idles rough and re-stalls), then it will run properly and i can drive away. No other obvious issues during normal driving.
The car stalls when coming to a stop- 0 mph and at idle with clutch in or in neutral.this is happening more often and seems to happen more when the car is warmed up.
2019 gti se 6mt. Car soft stalls - rpm drops to zero (without jerking motion) at random intervals when coming to a complete stop with clutch pedal fully depressed. Pressing the start/stop button starts the engine again and the car operates as normal. Car is at operating temperature, ambient outside temperature was approximately 70 degrees. Behavior is not readily reproducible. Car has approximately 350 miles on the odometer with a build date of 1/19.
My 2019 golf gti 6 speed manual frequently and seemingly randomly stalls when coming to a stop. Some days the car will not stall at all other times the car will stall everytime it comes to a complete stop.it happens after the car has fully warmed up and will happen at the most unexpected times. The car stalls very gently, no lurching or bucking.
During pre-purchase test drive of vehicle (2019 gti se, manual with ~30 miles on odometer), the vehicle unexpectedly stalled as i was coming to a stop.i was approximately 5 minutes into the test drive.clutch was in, vehicle was in first gear, speed was less than 1mph.car had to be restarted.i did not purchase that car but they are still trying to sell it as new.i had 2 witnesses present.this was the 3rd brand new 2019 gti i have tested that unexpected stalls like this.
2019 white gti se with manual transmission purchased on 11/27/19 in daly city, ca. Current mileage ~ 2,300. Car engine shuts down intermittently/ randomly at low speeds when coming to a stop, either at neutral or in 1st gear or reverse with clutch fully engaged. The first time this happened was over two weeks ago after i switched driving modes from sport to eco mode. The engine would continuously shut down almost every time i came to a stop, to the point of the engine shutting off continuously and unable to remain on as i was parking my car on a hill. I took my car out for a drive a few hours later and it drove normally, until it shut down while i was sitting at a stop light with the car in neutral, and my foot on the brake. This problem occurs when my car is warmed up and at normal temperatures, usually after driven for at least 15 minutes. Every time it's happened, it was on city streets and intersections. I brought my car to the dealership the following morning and they reset the ecu, and were unable to recreate the problem. Haven't had the problem reappear until a few days ago, and was even able to record a video of it occurring. My car is at the dealer for the second time now for the same problem.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While slowing down the vehicle with the clutch in position, it stalled and restarted. In addition, the engine vibrated. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 100.*as
The engine will frequently stall when i come to a complete stop, requiring me to shift the car into park, restart the car, and then put it back into gear. I have the dsg transmission and this issue has occurred both with the auto start/stop on and with it off. I sometimes don't realize the engine has stalled until i have to start moving again, at a red light for instance, which creates a dangerous situation.
The vehicle i have purchased stalls softly frequently.it usually stalls when coming to a stop from a low speed. It also stalls while the gear is in neutral and coming from a stop. The stalling also has occurred while the clutch pedal is fully pressed.volkswagen needs to address this concern asap. This affects the safety of the driver and the people around me.
White 2019 rabbit edition 6mt, build date of 10/18, purchased 4/6/19. Issue began the day of purchase with less than 100 miles on the car. The vehicle will frequently stall when the clutch is fully depressed shortly before coming to a stop. The stall is uncharacteristic of other stalls due to driver error, as it can barely be felt through the car. This has happened when the car is both in gear and out of gear while the clutch is depressed. Once the car stalls, it must be restarted by pressing the ignition button again. After the engine is restarted, the car will resume normal driving operation until it stalls while coming to a stop again. The stalling only seems to occur when the car is at operating temperature.the car has been at the dealer for diagnostics twice, both times having no results. A vw tech was able to replicate the issue, but was unable to find its source.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While driving various low speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled when coming to a stop. The failure occurred on three separate occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 700. *dtupdate: dealer was notified on 13-sep-2019 immediately after this complaint was originally filed. Failure has now occurred on 3occasions. Vehicle was brought to dealer on 10-)ct-2019 for diagnosis but was unable to fix as it stalled for a third time that day when returning home. Dealer was again notified of the third stall and is awaiting permanent fix information when available from vwofa. Approx. Mileage at time of failures: 700 miles on 17-jul-2019, 900 miles on 01-sep-2019, and 1750 miles on 10-oct-2019.
I purchased a 2019 gti s on march 30th 2019 and in one week's time i stalled out 7 times. 3 of those 7 times were when i was at a complete stop, in neutral with my foot on the brake only (not on the clutch). The other 4 times were in 2nd gear at low speeds between 8 and 10 mph when i was either pulling into a driveway or going over a long but low and not aggressive speed bump. The stall would happen when i would depress the clutch, not on the release.
Engine stalls at stops.
Had been driving for about 10 to 15 minutes highway driving leading to stop and go traffic. Once out of stop and go traffic, depressed clutch fully and came to a stop at a stop sign. Engine died / shut off. No dash lights were illuminated. Oil temperature was ~200 f. Engine restarted successfully and driving commenced. At next stop light, depressed clutch, came to a stop, and engine died / shut off. No dash lights illuminated. Engine restarted successfully and was able to continue driving. This repeated 3x in the span of 10 minutes. Every time car came to a complete stop with clutch depressed, engine died / stalled without dashboard lights. This failure has repeated approximately 15 times over the course of 1 week. The dealer was unable to fix the issue after 2 visits.
Brand new 2019 gti rabbit sometimes stalls while coming to a stop or, in some cases, has fully stopped, when the clutch is fully engaged. Car restarts when 'start' button is pushed. The first incident occurred on the drive home from the dealer and has occurred at least 10x in the three weeks since purchased, across multiple drivers. Have not been able to reliably reproduce.
This car stalls in neutral and with the clutch engaged. This happens when coming to a complete stop. Car sputters and stalls and needs to be restarted. Issue is somewhat sporadic.
Purchased from riverside vw metro auto group, a new 2019 vw golf gti (with 465 miles) equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission stalls excessively.the vehicle typically needs to warm up (oil temp above 210f) prior to seeing this excessive stalling issue.the stalling is apparent when the engine shuts off without warning as car slows to a stop or when preparing to make a turns at intersections.this transpires with the clutch depressed fully and also when the vehicle is in neutral and clutch out.this has happened over 18 times i purchased the vehicle 4 days ago.i have brought the vehicle to the dealer to address and they have stated they are unable to reproduce the event and are unaware of any problems with this model.current mileage is approximately 615 miles.
Whether the car is in gear or not the vehicle will stall out. When vehicle is in gear and clutch is fully depressed the vehicle will stall. Does not matter if it is 1st gear or reverse the same will happen.
When at idle or coming to a stop, with the car in neutral and the clutch pedal not engaged the vehicle will soft stall and require a key turn to start the motor again. This has happened several times on a brand new vehicle. 6spd manual
The car stalls when coming to a stop- 0 mph and at idle with clutch in or in neutral.this is happening more often and seems to happen more when the car is warmed up.
Engine stalling in low speed

My 6 speed manual transmission gti se stalls after i come to a stop when the clutch is depressed to the floor. It has happened ~8 times since owning the vehicle (for 3 weeks). There are 650 miles on the car.

Vehicle stalls at low speeds. I have noticed my car stall when leaving a parking spot where i will get halfway out of the park, and then the rpm goes to 0 and i have to put it into park, turn the key, and after a longer than normal startup time, it goes.
The failure mileage was 100.*as
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti.
This is a 2019 gti rabbit in cornflower blue. The car stalls out when in first gear when either sitting in traffic or coming to a stop at a light or sign. It doesn't happen every time, but happened 5 times over the period of a couple hours yesterday, 6/11. It has also happened on many other days, ranging from when i first bought the vehicle a month ago with 329 miles on it, until now when it has about 1,300.

Engine shuts off/stalls when braking to a stop in a 6mt urano grey golf gti rabbit edition.on dozens of occasions at this point, with no check engine light or engine codes being dropped.i will be in neutral or with the clutch fully engaged, usually coming to a stop but has also happened when rolling slowly, and the car will stall out.it has been so gentle that i don't even notice until i press the gas and start moving and nothing happens.it has occurred during heavy braking and light braking, usually after a longer drive.tends to occur in bursts, i've gone two weeks with no incidents and then on a single drive (after about 3 hours on the highway) it will occur multiple times in rapid succession, but won't be consistent.i am not stalling the car by having the clutch partially engaged or anything, i will be in full neutral or with the clutch to the floor and foot off the gas. I have had the issue when slowing to an intersection preparing for a turn, or when braking to a stop traveling straight.have also had the issue when slowing down from highway speeds and stop-and-go traffic speeds.its very difficult to pin down, with the exception of usually after extensive driving, haven't had it happen after a <10 min drive yet that i can remember.currently being encountered by several other owners, and we're trying to consolidate what we know:https://www.reddit.com/r/golfgti/comments/b9cpb7/possible_2019_6mt_stall_issue_your_feedback/https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?p=776852#post776852https://www.reddit.com/r/golfgti/comments/amh7h0/golf_gti_mk75_stalling_coming_to_stop_with_clutch/the latest times in atl traffic when i was preparing to merge from a stop into traffic and it stalled out while moving slowly, its getting dangerous to lose power when you're in traffic and needing it.

I purchased a 2019 gti rabbit edition 6mt. Car stalls while coming to a stop in neutral. Also stalls starting from a stop while in 1st gear with clutch fully depressed. Car shuts off quietly, doesn't sound/feel like normal stalling. Had this problem since the first day i brought the car home from the dealership and know of many others experiencing the same thing.
Since i have owned the car, it periodically stalls while in neutral. The car stutters and shuts off several times daily. I took the car in to service, and they were unable to correct the issue after 4 days.
My 6 speed manual transmission gti se stalls after i come to a stop when the clutch is depressed to the floor. It has happened ~8 times since owning the vehicle (for 3 weeks). There are 650 miles on the car.
On 4/12/19, we purchased a new 2019 urano gray gti rabbit edition manual transmission from a vw dealership with 36 miles.on 5/14/19, at 732 miles the vehicle stalled while stopping at a red light on a major street with the car in neutral.at the next red light the car stalled while stopping in neutral.the car stalled about six times while trying to restart it at the red light - the car was in neutral with the clutch down.i called to notify a vw dealer service advisor and was advised to check the oil level (it was full).on 5/27/19, at 965 miles the car stalled while in first gear with the clutch down at a stop sign.we then took a video of the vehicle stalling after starting the vehicle with the clutch to the floor.we took the car to the dealership and the car stalled twice on the way to the dealership while the clutch was down at a red light.this is a serious vehicle safety issue as a stalled vehicle can be rear ended causing serious bodily injury or death!
Car stalls at low speeds, particularly coming to a stop. Happens with clutch in or in neutral. Has been happening since day 1 of ownership of brand new vehicle with 80 miles on odometer. Continues at 10 months of ownership with 6k miles on odo. The problem is intermittent. It did not occur for 6 months between december 2019 and june 2nd 2020. On june 3rd vw installed 24fd update. Upon driving the car home from the dealership, the car stalled 3 times. Twice at stoplights in 1st gear with clutch in. Once in neutral after i pulled into my driveway.
While coming to a stop in a 2019 gti se manual transmission with experience package in sport mode (with < 100 miles on odometer) the car stalled while having the clutch fully depressed.the car also stalled while sitting at a green light waiting to make a left hand turn, with the clutch fully depressed and the transmission in first gear.
Car stalls after coming to a stop. Car must be restarted. Problem is intermittent.
When coming to a stop, and pressing on clutch pedal, car intermittently cuts off power
The car stalls when coming to a stop- 0 mph and at idle with clutch in or in neutral.this is happening more often and seems to happen more when the car is warmed up.
My brand new 2019 golf gti s 6mt has stalled about 4 times since the purchase of 12/30/19the car currently has about 86 miles on it odometer.it does not matter whether the car is in gear or neutral, while the clutch is down, the car slowly turns off the engine by itself

Car will softly stall out when i come to a stop with the clutch fully depressed or the stick out of gear. Started happening with less than 200 miles on the car. Happened three seperate occasions before 420 miles. Car will restart right away in every instance except for the one right before 420 miles. That instance the car stalled, i hit the start button, started again, then stalled immediately. Started again, stalled again. Started again, stayed idle and i started moving.
6mt model with about 600 miles. Car unexpectedly stalls at slow speed with clutch fully depressed in city driving while turning. Stalls quietly and without reason. Seems to e a common issue among 2019 models.
The car has 43 miles on it and is stalling when coming to a stop. It's stalling when stationary in neutral with the clutch depressed. It's also stalling in gear with the clutch pressed (at a stop sign, car in first gear, foot on clutch, rpms drop to zero and car quietly just turns off). It doesn't rumble like a normal motor stall would, it just shuts off (like auto on/off would on a automatic).
When at idle or coming to a stop, with the car in neutral and the clutch pedal not engaged the vehicle will soft stall and require a key turn to start the motor again. This has happened several times on a brand new vehicle. 6spd manual
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While the vehicle was at a complete stop, the contact depressed both the clutch and the brake pedal and the vehicle shut off without warning. The failure also occurred while approaching a stop light. The vehicle was towed to southern volkswagen greenbrier (1248 s military hwy, chesapeake, va 23320, 757-424-4689), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40.
I have a 2019 gti rabbit edition with manual transmission.the car will stall out at random times while coming to a rolling stop while the clutch pedal is pressed all the way down.it seems to happen on a warmed up engine.it doesn't happen all the time, but at random times when i come to a rolling stop.it's a very quiet stall and sometimes you don't even realize it stalled out.
Unexpected stallingvehicle stalls with clutch completely depressed
Vehicle with an intermittent stall in the six speed manual transmission. Stalls occurs when decelerating with the clutch pedal depressed. So far, this has occurred on city streets at low rolling speeds in the midst of a left hand turn. A full stop (as when waiting for oncoming traffic to pass) does not occur before onset of the stall, rather the stall has occurred midway through the rolling turn as the brake pedal is released, the gear selected, and clutch pedal released. In every instance in which the stall has initially occurred, the power loss occurs while my vehicle is in the lane of oncoming traffic, with only the momentum of the car propelling me out of the lane. In the most recent incident, the stall repeated after two attempts to restart the vehicle with the clutch pedal depressed. After turning the ignition fully off, then restarting the vehicle, the stall occurred a third time. After letting the vehicle sit for a period of about 20 minutes, the car started and functioned without incident.
My vehicle stalls at idle for no reason. I have to restart my engine over and over when coming to a stop. It seems to happen more often when engine is warmed up. This is definitely a safety issue if you stall while waiting to turn left through traffic.
When coming to a stop in 1st or while stopped at a light in neutral, the car will stall out.
Vehicle frequently stalls while coming to a stop, with clutch depressed, or in neutral gear. Engine sputters and rpms drop to 0. Car has to be manually restarted. No warning lights appear on screen. Seems to happen in groups. After the first time it happens it repeats throughout the duration of the drive.
The vehicle seems to periodically stall when i'm traveling at low speeds, such as in parking lots, or slowing down to take a right or left turn. It has recurred enough (~4 times in 220 miles) to know it is not driver error.
*as
2019 gti se 6mt.
My 2019 s model produced in 9/2018 with manual transmission is stalling at low speeds with clutch fully engaged. It happens in first or second gear usually when either trying to come to a stop or in stop and go traffic coasting at very low speeds with clutch in. The car does not lurch. It simply just shuts off quietly. It has happened so far on an off ramp, in traffic, and pulling into my driveway. I just bought the car 3 days ago on tuesday, june 11th with only a few hundred miles on it. It started happening the day after i bought it. It only happened once on that day, but happened several more times yesterday. At first i thought it was user error until i googled it and saw at least 80 people with the same problem. I have never had a manual car stall in lower gears with the clutch fully engaged. It is not normal or safe in my opinion. I plan on taking it back to the dealer as soon as i can so they can investigate further.
Engine stalling when slowing or coming to a stop at city speeds with transmission in neutral. Engine shuts off smoothly (similar to ignition switch off) and restarts easily.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen gti. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled when approaching a stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to island volkswagen (located at 1632 hylan blvd, staten island, ny 10305, (877) 729-0090, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 150.
I had taking my 2019 volkswagen gti to the dealer about now 4 times regarding having problems with my two front doors they make a squeak noise and doors rattling when entering exiting driveways and well driving on freeways and streets the dealers solution was to add a lubricant around my doors and that didn't work. Second solution they did was to add a vinyl around the doors and that do not work. Car is still having the same problem. Dealership said that they need to wait for a volkswagen specialist to see what else they can do to minimize the problem. So now i'm waiting for that person to be available and see what else they could do to the car. I asked volkswagen to buy the car back because of the problem and they said no yeah they're going by the manufacturing warranty.
The vehicle stalls when coming to a stop, or a few seconds after stopping, either in gear with the clutch pedal fully depressed or in neutral. The behavior is not consistent but can be reproduced after several attempts.
Since i have owned the car, it periodically stalls while in neutral. The car stutters and shuts off several times daily. I took the car in to service, and they were unable to correct the issue after 4 days.
While driving on highway at approx. 75mph, my 2019 volkswagen gti se panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. I heard a very loud bang followed by shattered glass falling into the car.the entire sunroof had shattered and a very large hole (approx. 1' x 1.5' large) near the front of sunroof was present.i did not see anything hit the sunroof. Given the loud bang and the extent of damage to the sunroof, i find it difficult to believe a rock or some other object hit the sunroof.
Car will stall every other day or so. May also stall twice in one day. Seems to be more common when its warmer out. It stalls in neutral or in gear with clutch depressed when slowing down to a stop. Already had it to the dealer twice. Still stalls.
The gear indicator often shows the wrong gear than the car is physically in, on a 6 speed manuel transmission. This could be related to the other issue of the vehicle stalling with the clutch pushed all the way in. Mostly happens when slowing down, or coming up to a stoplight.
Car stalling at low speed. Needs to be restarted.
My gti has a manual transmission. It will occasionally stall while coming to a stop even though the clutch pedal is fully depressed. It has happened with the gear shift in reverse as well as in neutral, in either case the clutch pedal was fully depressed and it shouldn't be stalling in these circumstances.
While coming to a stop in an empty parking lot, the car suddenly stalled while the clutch was fully depressed and the car was in 1st gear. A few minutes later, the car stalled again as it was coming to a stop while the clutch was fully depressed and the car was in first gear. Both times the car was going no faster than 5 mph. About 15 minutes later the car left the parking lot and went onto a road and upon coming up to the red light and slowing down, the car stalled while the clutch was fully depressed and the car was in neutral. The three examples mentioned above of the car stalling, all happened on the exact same day the car was purchased. The vehicle was purchased brand new with about 33 miles on it. The three stalling incidents all happened when the car reached about 50-60 miles.
The car stalls randomly when coming to a stop in 2nd gear with the clutch fully depressed. The engine idles correctly as i'm coming to a stop,i depress the clutch fully, idle remains stable, when the car comes to a full stop, the engine shuts off. The car is 4 days old and has 360 miles on the odometer.
Engine stalling in low speed
When coming to a stop, and pressing on clutch pedal, car intermittently cuts off power
The vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions. Most of the occurrences have been when coming to a stop on city streets. It does not matter if the clutch is pressed all the way in, or if vehicle is in neutral. It is a very quiet stall, no dash lights come on, and steering wheel locks. The vehicle has to be started again, as if it was never running. It is unknown what is causing the issue.
The car is randomly stalling when coming to a stop. It has happened 4 times so far since taking delivery of the vehicle on 5/24. Each time so far it has happened in parking lots, it is so subtle its like the auto start/stop technology some cars have although this one is not equipped with that. Each time i had the clutch fully depressed while the car was in neutral.
My vehicle would stall out/engine would turn off randomly on its own from a stopped position and moving motion.started in febuary 2019 - current- coming downhill in neutral to a light. When proceeding after it turned green, i noticed my engine was off. I then proceeded to the next light and the vehicle then cut off on its own again atthe next light while in neutral with my foot on the brakes. My gas meter was at 1/3 tank and i proceeded to the nearest gas station after i restarted my vehicle. Afterwards, i went on the highway and was coming to a slow down due to traffic and switch my gear to neutral and pressed on the brakes and as soon as i was coming up to the car in front of me my vehicles engine shut off while i was coasting at 30-40mph. I was still in motion when it happened. I proceeded to restart my vehicle when it came to a full stop and called my dealer.- 2nd occurence happend when i was slowing down to make a right turn and had my foot on the clutch pedal going into 2nd from 3rd. My vehicles engine then cutoff again when my foot was still pressed into the clutch pedal. I had restarted the car while in motion to avoid incoming traffic to accelerate into the turn.- 3rd occurence happened again when i was in neutral coasting into my parking spot at my apartment, the engine cut itself off again.-4th occurence happened in a series, i was coming up to a parking spot in neutral and as i braked to a complete stop, my engine shut off. I restarted my vehicle and had it drift backwards in neutral, it had shut off again without my stick shift being in any gear slots. I then restarted my vehicle and had it in first gear to move into my parking space and after moving forward and then going into neutral to brake, the engine cut off again.- last instance was from a stopped position to a neutral coast leaving a parking lot, this happend twice.
My engine keeps having a soft stall. I have a manual rabbit under 1k miles. It does this when i come to a complete stop. This is the second issue i have with the car already. The first was a sensor, which was taken care of with ease. Now this one.
The car keeps shutting off when coming to a stop
The engine stalls when you have the car in neutral and the car is coming to a stop while pressing the brake. Today it happen 5 times and the dealership is. Clueless about this problem
The car will randomly stall when coming to a stop. As of 5/23, the car has 1,030 miles on it. It happened a few times at about 400-500 miles and then it went away, but recently it has been happening a few times a day.
