I purchased my 2009 vw eos from a dealeriship "as-is" and i have had to replace the maf sensor, throttlebody had to be serviced with in the first year of owning. Oil leaking from engine onto the water pump. Now, the abs and traction electrical system is completely messed up and i can't drive it. Estimation of $2500 worth of work.
The leaking on this historically defective hardtop convertible has caused yet another problem.my vehicle was entirely flooded, and the dealer and manufacturer say it is nearly a total loss. This has been a continual problem since the model was introduced and volkswagen has declined to deal with it.my particular car can be driven right now, but may stop running at any time due to the water that has seeped into vital parts, such as brakes and engine.

Intermittent brake, abs and traction control lights come on while driving.
Check engine light came on, when taken to dealership they say i have a faulty intake manifold runner and it needs to be replaced. If not the vehicle may/will stall. This same part was recalled in the 2006-2008 models of this vehicle and several others.are the 2009 models affected?the vehicle has been maintained all maintenance has been done to manufacturers recommendations.
I have a epc light that goes off and on and reduces the power and speed to 10 mph sometimes not able to get going plus engine light also pops on i almost got rear ended because of these lights
While driving the n,d, r, p, s starts flashing.it can cause the vehicle to shift into neutral.
2009 vw eos - transmission failure in 56 miles. Mechatronics module failure claimed by service dept.
The abs brake indicator light is on and when i took it to a certified euro car mechanic he said that 8 codes showed up for this.he also said that there was a safety recall 45f2 on this.when i took my vehicle to the vw dealership in panama city, fl. They were extremely rude and said there was no recall for this vehicle.they would not tell me if or when the recall was complete, and if it was completed and the same thing is happening, then there is still a problem with the initial recall that was not fixed.
First thing to go on this car was the clutch pack could hear clanking noise when i was slowing down...had to replace.. Next came the failed injector..i was driving the car smoke started coming out of the engine and the exchushed pipe car almost caught on fire fuel had leaded all over my engine ..nowthe abs unit needs to be repairedthey want $2,600.00.. ..my car has 34,000.00 miles on it...the inside of my doors are peeling...they want another $1,000.00 for that !..&the roof gets stuck half way when its really hot!

Abs and brake lights are on, car shifts into neutral on it's own. Feels unsafe to drive, because of the neutral shift there is no power. I have had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car.
My 2009 eos is under recall for the abs system malfunctioning. I was never informed about this. I replaced my brakes as one mechanic thought because the abs brake light went on - that was needed. The abs light still stayed on. Last week the abs light andand engine light and brake light went on and my car lostpower and control on a busy highway at night leaving me on the side of the rode in danger and had to call aaa. Vw will only replace abs if a "certain code" shows up which they will not tell you about till you pay the 150.00 diagnostic fee- then tell you the vehicle that has been recalled is not going to be repaired free of charge. In fact- it will cost 2700.00 to replace the entire abs system - which needs replacing- but only if it accepts the computer updating system. Which is broken because it is a faulty abs. Vw admitted that it was because of a incorrect solder compound- which can cause cracking in the entire system which cause sufficient electrical power to flow. Yet- they will not pay for the abs control module to be replaced???? only thing they will fix is the computer updating system- which will not update if the unit is broken- which they caused because of a faulty unit. They will not repair the abs unit which is broken because of the defect??? this caused my car to crash into a pole- and also i had to replace the abs unit which costs 1400.00 - now i find out this was a recall after the fact. I went to forums and found at least 20 others wit the same issue and they are not covered???????this is not okay and i work for abc and will make this a huge deal just like the other scandal they are barely recovering from- you guys need to do something. I could have died and they are doing nothing and not compensating on my recalled car. How can this happen.

Timing chain tensioner system failurei'm reaching out in regards to legal advice regarding timing chain tensioner system failure on my 2009 volkswagen eos. While traveling with my two young sons for their spring break, my car completely failed (while in-motion), putting both my life and the lives of my two children in harm's way. The time and resources spent getting my car towed to the mechanic, emotional trauma/stress, and loss in productivity has been a blow for my family- not to mention the cost to repair (which i have yet to receive the invoice).upon researching the issue, it was upsetting to learn that this was a common problem for volkswagen- to the point where they've faced litigation on numerous of fronts. There are also reports where vw adjusted their production/manufacturing process in 2012 to address 'said issue'. Yet vw has yet to do what's in the best interest of their consumers that own models prior to 2012. I don't expect volkswagen to give me a brand new car, but i do expect them to take responsibility for their products. If the timing chain was faulty and they were well aware, vw should be responsible for the cost. This experience has emotionally traumatizing for my kids and i on multiple fronts, and for us to be hit financially is an even more of a slap in the face to my family by the manufacture.please let me know if you are able to assist/advise. I look forward to hearing from you - - thank you!!!

2009 volkswagen eos 2.0t tsi engine timing chain tensioner failure due defective design. Car did not start and i had to change the engine at my expense. Now i am not sure if the new engine (used) has the new design version tensioner or the old.i have investigated and this is a very common failure. This most engine code is ccta and is used in many vw cars 2008 and up.volkswagen sent a boletn explaining this failure and change the design of the tensioner on 2012 this failure may cause catastrofic engine failure and destroy it. Vw has not taken responsibility for this issue.

It has a major oil leak and only has 56,000 miles on it. The leak is at rear main seal and upper timing gasket. I feel due to the low mileage, this should not happen. Due to where the oil leak is present, the engine needs to be pulled which is a very expensive repair. I feel this should be under the power train warranty.

My wife was turning into a parking lot when the engine suddenly made a noise and lost forward power. She was stuck in the middle of an intersection and could have been killed! we spoke to our mechanic and he diagnosed the problem as a failed timing chain tensioner. This caused the engine valves to impact the pistons and caused catastrophic engine damage. We paid $2706.25 to buy a used engine and $1500 in labor for the installation. Our mechanic said this is very common with this engine and that he see this happen with engines that have low mileage. Our had 80125 when this happened.

Car experiences sudden loss of acceleration, nearly causing accident from cars behind. This has happened sporadically in motion on city streets and the car has been back to the dealer (vw world nptune nj)several times. First time they could not replicate problem and nothing was done, second time they replaced several components at cost of $2,000 but that did not fix problem and now it back at dealer and they are asking another $1300 for repairs.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact stated that the vehicle drove roughly and hesitated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was not able to replicate the failure. On another occasion, while at a stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the accelerator pedal required excessive force. In addition, the vehicle stalled on several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was awaiting a diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Volkswagen eos automatic. Last thursday august 20th i was making a right turn when the car switched into neutral causing the car behind me to hit the brakes so as not to hit me. My car then switched into drive and lurched forward causing me to hit to brakes so as not to hit the car in front of me. This is the 3rd time since i leased the car on july 19th that the car has shifted into neutral and then into drive. Volkswagen knew of the problem and yet nobody bothered to tell me that the problem might exist. The manufacturer should be required to inform any prospective customer of the problem. Now i have a lease for 3 years and who knows if the problem will be fixed in a timely manner or not. Customer should have the right to return the car and receive back all monies paid if the problem was not told to customer.
I was driving home from baltimore on the freeway going about 70mph and the vehicle started losing speed and nothing i did would get it to go again.i had to pull over put the car in park, shut the car off and then i was able to go again.this happened about 6 more times driving home to pittsburgh.i went to the dealer and they "fixed it".it worked for a short period of time.then it happened again and they couldn't find anything wrong with it so they put seafoam in my car.it happened several more times and they had my car for months.they think the seafoam hid the problem for almost a year.they replaced fuel injectors and that helped for about 400 miles.then they replaced the part that is the equivalent of a caarburetor.this fixed it for about 5 months this time.i just made a trip to chicago and thank god this did not happen there as i would have been killed.now i am at 85,000 and it just happened on august 6, 2015.once again vw corporate is not being of much assistance.i was told by vw coporate in february 2015 to dump the car and they would give me $1,000 off a new vw.this is unacceptable.this car is not safe and i am not getting anywhere with either the dealer or vw corporate.i have read other blogs and i know that i am not the only eos owner having this problem.will this take gm or dodge deaths to get someone's attention?i really hope i am not the person killed.

The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph the transmission abruptly shifted into neutral with a reduction in the engine power. The vehicle began to lunge forward. The entire instrument panel warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and towed to an authorized dealer. The technician stated that the direct shift gear box was faulty and required the replacement of the transmission. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 09v333000 (power train). The vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While parking, the gear was shifted from park to reverse and the transmission abruptly went into neutral. In addition, the selector lever position indicator light flashed and the depressed brake indicator light flashed. The failure recurred. The vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving 60 mph, the rpms accelerated on their own. The contact heard an abnormal noise and noticed that the gear lights on the instrument panel were turning on and off. The vehicle was taken to volkswagen van nuys (located at 6115 van nuys blvd, van nuys, ca 91401, (818) 785-7571) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 123,790.
Whendriving on the expressway the car automatically shifts and slows down abruptly to approximately 40 mph. Cars behind slam on the brakes. The gear indicator lights flash (prndl). And the depress brake signal appears.
The abrupt shift to neutral could lead to a crash without warning.
On sunday, june 30th, 2019, @ about 6pm, @51k i was driving 25mph and car jerked, then the rpms revved really high and car slowed down, and "prnds" letters started blinking. I slowed down even more and car was still going at higher than normal rpms. I was able to drive it very slowly through residential streets to my house. When i was going to park it in my spot, i had to put it in reverse, and when i did, it did not move in reverse! during all this the "prnds" lights kept on flashing. I had to turn it off, put it in neutral, and get pushed into my parking spot. When i tested to see if car would start, it started perfectly, no flashing light or anything, no delay or trouble to start it. The check engine light never turned on either. The day before, i did have an issue with getting the car started, it needed a jump start, and when the battery was tested for its voltage, it was running on the lower side. I had not driven it all day on friday, and the starting issues were on saturday. I was told by mechanic that i must have left a light on, but nothing was left on to drain the battery. Earlier on sunday, i needed to go on one outing and the car did give me trouble to start, with a delayed slow start, and it drove fine to my destination less than 4 miles away. When i left there, the car managed to start with that delay again, and when i was driving home is when the crazy jerking, rpm revving, and car slowing down happened about a mile away from my house. Needless to say, this was very scary, and i have read many other complaints about this exact same thing! i am too scared to drive my car! i had it towed to the vw dealer, and i am waiting to hear back from them. When i was signing in at the dealer, another lady was registering her car for the same exact complaint and her car was the same exact car!!! vw needs to address this very dangerous and scary problem and fix it!!!!
August 2013: 2009 vw eos abruptly lost power, would not accelerate, and the dashboard (prnd) flashed erratically; happened numerous times since.a vw master mechanic of 14 years told me that the dsg temperature sensor should be repaired and mechatronics unit should also be replaced.he advised i take the vehicle to a dealer for the recall/warranty repairs. Prestige vw, turnersville, nj told to replace the transmission (5700 dollars), due to "internal transmission issues".no definitive problem identified.i was then told they would contact vwoa so they "could go to bat for me" because they understand that "no one buys a volkswagen expecting the transmission to go at 74k miles".a claim would be submitted on my behalf; due to new vw policy they 'must' use a third-party claim service-vw would no longer accept direct claims.i called the dealer several times and was put off each time promised a return call.it has been nearly 5 weeks and nothing has been done.i called vwoa directly, they indicated that they i) have no record of a claim initiated by the dealer; ii) do not require dealers to use a third-party claim service; and iii) rely on their dealers' determination of problems. I am seriously concerned for my and my child's safety.last week, my car abruptly slowed in 65mph traffic on route 295 in nj; i was almost hit by a car behind me due to this malfunction.vw refuses to address this;i hope the nhtsa will take action and address these concerns before someone loses their life to this transmission malfunctioning.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle jerked back and forth and the gear shift indicators began to flash. When the contact placed the vehicle into park and then drive, the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to heritage volkswagen of west atlanta (1981 thornton rd, lithia springs, ga, 30122, 770872-0033) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving 20 mph, the transmission jerked and the rpms increased without warning. The vehicle also accelerated intermittently, which presented the potential risk of a crash. The vehicle was exlcuded from nhtsa campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The vehicle was not included in nhtsa action number: pe09035 (power train), but the failure was similar. Volkswagen van nuys (6115 van nuys blvd, van nuys, ca 91401, (818) 785-7571) was notified and was currently servicing the transmission assembly. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and suggested the dealer replace the same oem transmission assembly. The approximate failure mileage was 51,700.
Without notice the transmission down shifts and the car comes to a quick speed reduction and you pull off the road and it will not go in revers. It will move then at a very slow speed. On busy street or highway in traffic hard to keep from being run over.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. After the vehicle was shifted into the reverse position, the vehicle failed to move. The gear selector box and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. On another occasion, while driving at a slow speed, the vehicle lost power and the gear shift box illuminated. The contact mentioned that the failures recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic where the technicians stated that the gear shift box, dual clutch, and transmission possibly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v333000 (power train). The failure mileage was 79,000.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving various speeds, the gear selector moved from the drive position into neutral independently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v330000 (power train). The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 128,251.
Abs and brake lights are on, car shifts into neutral on it's own. Feels unsafe to drive, because of the neutral shift there is no power. I have had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car.
The car lurches forward and bucks on full stop and take off. I have contacted a vw dealer and gave me a possible fix for 1800.92 but this may not fix the problem. It may also need a new clutch. This is a known problem that vw is aware of but will not recall and repair. This complaint is to document the problem once again and suggest that vw be made to fix this before someone is killed if they haven't already been.
The transmission abruptly goes into neutral wile in freeway.according to a recall from the nhtsa, my car has exactly the same problem, a lose wire in the transmission. The dealer says the recall is no longer active, and would not fix it. ?????. The car will do this in bumpy roads.
Harsh/jerky shifting in dsg power train unit. Typically at very low speeds. This condition previous investigated through closed case # pe09035. Issue relates to excess wear in solenoid bushings. Previously report by nhtsa that vw issued extended warranty of 10years/100,000 miles. Car was within limits but vw refused repair saying mechatronic unit (where the defective valves are located) not covered by agreement with nhtsa. Current nhtsa web pages apparently incorrectly report that vw does replace defective units. Jerking is dangerous in parking maneuvers.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the engine rpms increased and the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer fifteen times for diagnosis. The technicians replaced a fuse in the power supply relay but was unable to diagnose further failures. The failure continued after the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 38,514.
Driving 60 mph during rush hour traffic on highway when suddenly engine reved prnd lights started blinking and car had no power. I managed to get to shoulder and the car would drive 20 mph on shoulder. Faster the engine reved. Vw says recall on 2009 eos does not include my vin number. I could have been killed if the people behind me didn't manage to avoid hitting me. Vw will not assist me because my power train warranty ran out at 100k miles. My car has 103k. I am concerned that more cars were involved in the recall. Flash of death article by abc news is exactly what happened to me on nov 6 2015. Vw says my car is not affected. I disagree.
Car has 85,000 miles. Transmission fails at low speeds going into d or r. Lights start blinking (p r n d s) periodically. Unpredictable when it will happen, can be anytime you're at slow speed. Turning it off and on temporarily fixes but i ran an obd and came back p2711. This is for a failure with the dsg transmission. Svc bulletin recommends the clutch packs be replaced. Dealer quoted almost 3k to do this. They did not initially acknowledge the extended warranty on the dsg even after i pointed it out. What is worse, this car was taken when only 4 yrs and 49k miles for transmission work and they recommended it be replace (for a quote over 2k) but did not mention the warranty at the time. Service the transmission at the 40k intervals! even if you do, it might fail! at least be aware of the dsg 10yr 100k miles warranty - must have trans fluid change records though!49k miles and they recommended a trans replacement!!!! 49k miles! and didn't honor the warranty and get it fixed then... Dealers are very hit or miss (all miss from what i've experienced).
When backing out into a city street from a parking space on an incline, the vehicle gear dash lights began flashing and the car lost power. In order to get the vehicle to function, it was put in park and restarted, all the while blocking traffic and creating an unsafe disabled vehicle condition.the second incident occurred while driving at approximately 50 mph on a state road. The vehicle shifted to a lower gear, revving the engine and quickly slowing to approximately 25 mph. As was in the first incident, the prnd lights on the dash began flashing. This occurred in heavy traffic and required a vehicle following to swerve to avoid a rear end collision. I'm assuming the rear brake lights did not come on.these two incidents resulted in my taking the vehicle to a nearby vw dealership where the service department stated that vwoa suggests that the solution be changing the clutch packs which does not appear to address the immediate problems. However, that was the recommended solution from vwoa to the dealership.
This affects tiguans, jettas, eos, and other vws with 2.0tsi engines manufactured pre 2013. The timing chain tensioners have a design flaw and are prone to failure at unacceptably low mileages. These were replaced with a new design to correct this flaw beginning in some 2012 models. However, vw has never formally recalled these or acknowledged the design flaw. If/when it fails, it can ruin the engine often causing over $5k in damages. The workshop confirmed i had the old style and replaced mine at the cost of $873.68. This is a widely spread, widely documented problem that vw is only treating when it causes engine failures. While this is a widespread problem most owners are in the dark about it, 'taking it on the chin' and shelling out money presuming it's just a normal error and not knowing it's a design flaw in the car. For a car with only 85k miles, i just paid over $2kto have the transmission redone immediately following 1,800 in repairs for broken sensors. While i understand certain items will brake or require repair on any car, the tensioner design flaw with their unwillingness to acknowledge it is unacceptably egregious.
At times, the vehicle will not go into reverse.the gear display blinks and the vehicle must be shut off before being able to eventually go in reverse.i brought the vehicle into a volkswagen service center and was informed of the extended warranty regarding the dsg.however, volkswagen has informed me that since i did not have the dsg serviced at 40,000 miles, it would not honor the extended warranty.i was never informed or the recall and the required work was never performed on the vehicle despite the fact that i purchased it in october 2012.
Dsg transmission failure.had abs module recall done at dealer.picked up vehicle, drovetwo blocks, car would not shift out of second gear.went back to dealer, they scanned it, and it showed 36 prior faults with transmission.prior to this it has never shown a code/check engine light prior to know.is now out of warranty - vw says too bad for you.
This is related to nhtsa action number :pe09035 while driving, trying to accelerate from a stop light and the car wouldn't go.it acted as if it were in neutral.also noticed on the dash computer where it shows what gear you're in i.e. P,d,r - all of these lights just flashed.only way to ge the car moving again was to turn off the ignition (in the middle of the road) and restart the car.i was then able to proceed with driving.this incident was extremely scary and i was almost rear-ended.this happened twice the same day so i immediately took the car back to the dealer for service.it had only been driven a total of 200 miles up until i took the car in.the service department called back the next day and said it was a faulty transmission temperature sensor while is now being replaced.i have not received the car back yet.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos.while driving approximately 35 mph he attempted to accelerate further but the vehicle would not respond.he was only able to drive at very low speeds.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed the transmission failed and needed to be replaced.the vehicle was repaired.approximately 11 months later the failure recurred.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where he was informed the transmission failed again and needed to be replaced.the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 1,400 and the current mileage was 11,000.
When driving 2009 eos, after accelerating i shifted into neutral, then shifted back to d a while later.the car went to a low gear (like 2nd) inappropriate for my speed, and the prnds indicators on the dashboard started flashing.i was unable to restore normal operation without restarting the car.i shifted back to neutral and turned the car off, then on, to get it to behave.needless to say this was quite unexpected and dangerous in traffic.i would've needed to slow to 20mph or so in a 40mph area to get the engine rpms to a speed appropriate to the gear.i understand that you're already looking into incidents with this transmission, so i thought i should provide an account of my incident.
On acceleration from a standstill, the vehicle stalls / stutters. Transmission fails to immediately engage and / or there is a lag of as much as 2-3 seconds from pressing the accelerator under light to moderate acceleration until the vehicle begins to move. Transmission clunks / grinds when transitioned from d to r or r to d.
2009 vw eos dgs transmission seemed to slip when accelerating into traffic.there was a bump like the clutch engaged, but then there was a momentary loss of power (torque) and then another bump like the clutch fully engaged.this vehicle has had the recent recall applied already, and we've experienced a previous problem with the prnds lights flashing (reported already) and the transmission disengaging while driving 40mph, and another incident with only the d light flashing, also remaining in neutral, from stopped while trying to leave a parking spot. Both times the car had to be turned off & on to restore the transmission to operational condition.the vw dealership was unable to find any events in the car's computer for any transmission events.(presumably an error big enough to remain in neutral and flash prnds or d should at the minimum log an error!)complaints for previous 2 incidents are 10290234 and 10285719.the dealership has been unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle.
2 incidents:sept 2009, dsg transmission flashed prnds and shifted into low gear.oct 21 2009, dsg transmission flashed d and shifted into neutral.in the 1st incident, i was driving about 45 mph, and had shifted to neutral.when shifting back to drive, the dashboard flashed the prnds lights at me and the transmission shifted to a very low gear (2nd?), making the car redline and slowing the car abruptly on a busy street.the car would not respond correctly until turned off and restarted. (dangerous while driving).in the 2nd incident, while parked i shifted from p to d.the car flashed d on the dashboard and remained in neutral.there was no immediate danger.again, i had to turn off the car to reset the problem.i don't know if drive can become disengaged while driving though, particularly since i had the previous incident.
Our 2009 eos lux was being driven at a slow speed into a head in parking space yesterday.gas pedal was being engaged to get into the space when car suddenly accelerated and rapidly lunged forward striking two parked cars in the parking row facing this space.property damage on this vehicle and the two vehicles struck was significant. This car had suddenly jerked forward when pulling away from a stop at an intersection the day before; after the sudden jump forward the car resumed a normal acceleration.insurer and dealer have assured us they will investigate.this vehicle has a serious and extremely dangerous defect and we will not drive it again unless we are certain that the defect is identified and corrected.
I purchased my 2009 vw eos on august 30, 2008. On september 29, 2008 after only approximately 1,300 miles, a valve that measures the temperature of the clutch malfunctioned. As a "safety" precaution the transition will not change gears if the clutch temperature is too high. This valve malfunctioned while i was on the freeway. The car operated as though i put it in neutral and revved the engine. Once out of oncoming traffic it took me three tries to restart my car. I proceeded to exit the freeway and get to a safer destination. While doing so this malfunction occurred two more times. Upon taking my car to the dealer to be repaired i was initially told that the engine switch malfunctioned. Only upon demanding to speak with the head mechanic and being asked to fully describe the situation that the true problem was discovered. It was made clear to me that this is a common problem with this model. Subsequently, the malfunctioning vale causes a pressure problem in the transition. I am anticipating this problem to occur again and have already consulted with a lawyer for lemon law.
2009 vw eos - transmission failure in 56 miles. Mechatronics module failure claimed by service dept.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While starting the vehicle, the abs indicator remained illuminated. The contact also stated that the speedometer and horn became inoperable randomly. The vehicle was taken to serra volkswagen where it was denied service under the recall remedy due to the vehicle's pre-existing issues. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The dealer informed the contact that the codes could not be read correctly using the diagnostic tool. The manufacturer was called and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer to be diagnosed. The second dealer was royal volkswagen in destaavian, al. The manufacturer decided that, due to the pre-existing issues, the vehicle would not be serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.
Dealer performed a free abs software & module update recall service but didn't do a good job because the abs warning light went on after i got the car back. Turns out they only updated the software and didn't replace the module so the abs brakes don't work since the module can't support the new software. Dealer is now trying to charge me $2,000 to replace the module because the vw recall warranty only covers the bill if they were all done on the same day. I still don't have a working car back because of it.they keep referring me to an extended warranty that i don't qualify for instead of the problem at hand which is that they offered me a free recalls service and never got it done right.please help me resolve this issue so i can get my working car back.they said they can't even undo the software update that caused this issue.
Abs controller failure (stationary)the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired under recall, but the failure recurred.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the moses dealer, but could not be serviced because the clock spring needed to be replaced and was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the abs module failed to function. The abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving approximately 65 mph, all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel and the brakes started to hesitate. The contact pulled the vehicle off the road. The contact stated that the failure began approximately two months ago and had gotten worse. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the abs control unit failed and needed replacement. The contact previously took the vehicle to gunther volkswagen of ft lauderdale (1660 s state rd 7, ft lauderdale, fl 33317) to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control), but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
Abs, engine fault, and a whole cluster of lights came on suddenly when the brake was applied at a normal rate of speed (~40mph), with the wheels almost locking up (until brake was released). This caused a potentially extremely dangerous situation, and could have been much worse if there were cars in the next lane, which i had to quickly switch into, to avoid an abrupt braking by the car in front of me.this appears to be a common problem in these 2009 vw models, and we feel should be investigated further.
The vehicle has exhibited intermittent abs, esc, and brake light. Code check revealed intermittent communication errors with various parts of the abs system including the control module. Diagnostics varied, undiagnosable due to intermittent activity and varying codes. April 2021, abs, esc, brake light, codes indicate communication error with the abs control module. Codes and light reset after being cleared, the vehicle was operational and drives with no detectable issues other than lights/ and possible non-operational abs.06/29/2021, 10 minutes into drive vehicle speedometer begins to dance from zero to operating speed, to total fault intermittently in interstate traffic on i-10 west into houston at channel view, braking begins to engage automatically/intermittently, loss of engine power, check engine/flashing brake light , vehicle narrowly avoids collision. Vehicle parked and restarted, driven back home with check engine and flashing brake light and intermittent speedometer, no drivability issues. 6/30/21 internet search for similar issues reveals an abundance of similar issues without drivability problems and 2017 recall# part 473 safety recall report16v-913. I would call attention to pages 3 and page 4 of this recall1.) considering the events of 6/28 and page 3 of the recall under chronology, volkswagen appears to admit the problem, and with a thorough understanding of its own systems should openly acknowledge the ability of this system to cause dangerous drivability conditions.2.) page 4, recall schedule, description of recall, indicates that vw has still to provide dealers and owners with notification of this issue. As an owner and knowledgeable professional in automotive service i can assure you as of 7/1/2021, nearly five years after vw acknowledged the issue in dec. 2016 to the nhtsa, and 11 years after addressing the concern in production with the 2010 models, we have not been notified.
Abs recall, failed...no parts!driving on abs failure, vw can't tell me when parts will be here!took to ourisman vw of bethesda, no parts!!!!!!!!
Volkswagen refused to remedy the abs defect whose symptoms were consistent with nhtsa recall number 16v9133.a letter to the president of volkswagen of america is enclosed.only apologies, but no substantive action, resulted.
Intermittent brake, abs and traction control lights come on while driving.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to operate. The contact's vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The contact's vehicle was then t-boned by another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. There were no injuries. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While the vehicle was stationary, the instrument cluster malfunctioned and failed to work properly after the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated without warning and the abs failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 42,000.the consumer referenced the airbag recall stating that the manufaturer refused to offer any assistance for abs module.
The abs system failed after less the 50,000. The car was being driven about 40mph when to first occurred.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact stated that her abs warning light had illuminated while driving at an unknown speed. The vehicle was taken to hiley volkswagen of arlington 1461 e interstate 20, arlington, tx 76018 (817) 575-6000 for a nhtsa recall repair number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). A diagnostic test was performed and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The contact stated that she was then given an estimate of $2,700.00 for an unspecified pump. The contact then took the vehicle to autobahn volkswagen fort worth 2810 white settlement rd, fort worth, tx 76107 where she was informed again that there were no recalls on the vehicle and gave her the same estimate as the previous dealer. The manufacturer was notified and set up both appointments for the vehicle to be serviced. No further assistance was provided. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 122,328.
While driving the n,d, r, p, s starts flashing.it can cause the vehicle to shift into neutral.
Abs indicator light; mechanics unable to find problem in brakes or abs system; codes provided unclear and provided no guidance to mechanics.system lit complete dashboard, speedometer started going from 35 to 0 while driving approx 35 mph beeping and flashing with rpm indicator also oscillating between 0 and higher.at no time did the brakes discontinue to function - dashboard was distracting and alarming while driving.told needed new abs computer at a minimum. Have quick time movie of the event
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (charles maund volkswagen 6900 burnet rd, austin, tx 78757 (512) 458-1111) to be serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The contact was informed that the module failed to communicate with the dealer's computers. The contact was informed that he would have to pay for a new module. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and the contact was awaiting a call back from the regional manager. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was unknown.

Whenever it rains or while going through a car wash, the convertible top leaks by driver's side window.vw mechanics have attempted to fix the leak at least three times and to date, have not been successful.
The leaking on this historically defective hardtop convertible has caused yet another problem.my vehicle was entirely flooded, and the dealer and manufacturer say it is nearly a total loss. Key gets stuck in the ignition. Unable to turn off engine.
While driving down the highway i heard what i thought was the sound of a rock hitting my windshield and the next thing i hear is the sunroof exploding raining shards of glass on me and the interior of the car.
I have a epc light that goes off and on and reduces the power and speed to 10 mph sometimes not able to get going plus engine light also pops on i almost got rear ended because of these lights
On initial acceleration, car hesitates and does not smoothly accelerate. This occurs whether the engine is cold or warm and occurs under light to moderate acceleration. Hesitation is accompanied by "stuttering sensation" and on occasion there is an actual delay from time of pressing the accelerator to actual launch of up to 3 seconds.
When the transmission gets hot, the temperature sensor overheats and automatically puts the car in neutral when you try and change gears (from drive to reverse). The dashboard lights start flashing the transmission lights. The car must be turned off and restarted in hope it will work again. There was a recall for this and apparently it was completed in 2009. Vw told us they will not fix it again.
Abs and brake lights are on, car shifts into neutral on it's own. Feels unsafe to drive, because of the neutral shift there is no power. I have had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car.
Upon closing convertible top while stationary on the shoulder of a divided roadway, driver's window jammed halfway and became inoperable. Vw dealer and vw regional office confirmed that this was a known manufacturing defect in window regulators, affecting ability to see properly out of vehicle. Vw personnel said they had actually extended a warranty because of this known defect -- providing 100,000 miles of coverage. However, upon further research, they stated that the extended warranty had expired in 2014 and would no longer be honored despite their acknowledgment that this is a known safety issue caused by a manufacturing defect. This forced me to have the defect repaired at extremely high cost and my own expense. The invoice is attached, and i have kept the ruined parts for further documentation if needed.
The contact owns a 2009 volkswagen eos. While driving 70 mph with the cruise control activated, the sun roof shattered without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 46,000.
