Got passenger airbag warning light. Dealer said it was not a warranty item. Cost was prohibitive to us, so we are doing without. A great safety problem.
Windows on my 2008 volkswagen eos will not stay engaged causing a safety hazard.the retractable top also leaks and drips causing distraction during episodes of driving in the rain.it has been in for service for these items and several others up to 5 times.the service writer (matt) at the dealership (sierra motors in ottawa il 815-434-3240) claims there is a problem with the software for the windows and vw is researching the issues and must create better programming.now the radio has begun to fade in and out.seems like the car has many electrical issues.i have contacted vw directly (800-822-8987) and been assigned a case number of 90002357 with a regional case mgr pete naradoni.pete was not aware of a software issue with the programming of the car which leads me to believe that someone is not being honest with me.vw nor the dealership have resolved the issues with this vehicle and i feel i need an advocate to get results.as of today they have had my car for 9 days!!!!this does not include all the other times they have had it for these same issues.i feel that they are in breech of warranty.
I have had a 2008 eos for less than 3 years.i started having problems with the car after 4 months, it has had several repairs including electrical seat not working properly, leaks in window, cheap materials falling off needing replacement, brakes needing sooner than most cars (brakes are very long, takes forever to come to stop). At about 1yr i started having major problems with how it drove. It has been in and out of the shop, one time itwas in for one month! it has had problems with lurching, surging, jerking andlack of power when accelerating or putting into sport mode, there have been numerous electrical problems and leaking from windows as well. They replaced one part (that was officially recalled) and the car drove worse. They finally replacedthe transmission and now have a new rattling problem that seems to come from the engine, along with window button on driver side sticking.there is still times when i accelerate and there no increased power or i put it into sport and there is no increase in speed or rpm's.i have taken it in again and they have told me that it is no longer under warranty and i will have to cover costs that are not under powertrain warranty. With as much problems as i have had with this car, everything should be covered.i am afraid to drive this car and try to stay local and do not drive much if i don't have to.after reading other peoples problems i can see that this is a problem with this particular vehicle and there needs to be an investigation. I believe it is a dangerous car.
I don't think a $38,000 car that is only 3 years old should leak rain in it all the time and the convertible top not work properly - it has been in the shop 5 times in the last 2 months and is currently in the shop fixing a problem that was suppose to be fixed last friday. Volkswagen dealership service department mechanic even told me that 98% of eos leak rain inside them and the convertible tops don't work.datemilesproblem3/19/08328wiper blades split apart (car was brand new)6/17/0911400leaks rain inside car on drivers side - replaced header seal and mounting bracket6/17/0911400drivers side sunvisor cracked6/23/0911540replaced drivers side sunvisor9/4/1023056recall - mechantronic unit9/4/1023056convertible top not operating properly - flap tension string needed new clips9/4/1023056side window grinding and hesitating when going up and down - defective window regulator9/4/1023056vehicle having trouble starting - ignition/starter switch electrical fault in circuit9/13/1023355convertible top not operating properly- installed headliner tensioning string clips9/13/1023355front door handle loose 9/8/1134761water leaking from convertible top (rain inside car)- sunroof drain hose repair9/8/1134761passenger side door trim is peeling off car9/17/1135231water leaking from door (rain inside car)- replaced the seals (in a loaner for 4 days)10/20/1137230replaced defective crank breather 10/27/1137398convertible top not operating properly - gets stuck when opening - cable guide broke off10/27/1137398service now light on after it was just serviced11/1/1137450back in shop for convertible top not working properlykey is broken, i keep this car in the garage and get regular maintenance work done.
The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen eos. The contact stated that the vehicle consumed a quart of oil every month. The contact also stated after changing the battery, the ecm had to be re-flashed. The contact stated the rear door warning light was illuminated. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Even though the car is in drive it will go down i feel backwards this is going to cause accidents.the electric windows go up and down continuously yes, this is a known issue but they refused to fix this the distraction is going to cause people accidents. This makes texting while driving seem like a safe way to behave.

First incident (many more to follow) occurred while driving downhill on highway.the entire dash panel appeared to have gone haywire and then car just turned off.coasted off of the road and was towed down the hill.charged the battery and it started just fine, for about 20 miles, then the same thing occurred and car turned off.had car towed to dealership, after diagnosis, had fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and gasket replaced.during their test drive, car stalled out again.had to also replace alternator, freewheel pulley and battery.picked up car, before i even got home engine lamp came on again, took back to dealership in a closer location to me.now the problem was turbo underboost and evap system leaks, reccommended replacement of turbo purge valve, evap purge valve and evap vent hose.volkswagen is aware of and has had many complaints for these same problems, yet they have done nothing about it, and can only apologize to their customers that they are having a problem with "their" particular vehicle.i am concerned that my vehicle will not even pass smog next year at this rate, given i could not find any smog records at all for this vehicle...is it possible to fake a smog check to dmv and re-sell a lemon??i was definitely duped!
Ignition coil failed.had to get the coil replaced as well as replaced all spark plugs in case failure affected them all.

Car stalled and when brought to dealership was informed this car burns oil at a high rate and the engine needs to be replaced.oil had just been added!
Upon waiting for the traffic light to change to green, i depressed the accelerator and within seconds, i heard a low boom and then the engine power cut out. I coasted to the side of the road and at that point was no longer able to start the car. I was at that point, forced to have it towed to the nearest dealership. I was notified that thecamshaft timing chain had snapped.
The 2008 volkswagen eos' engine suddenly lost power on an interstate highway and luckily, we were able to guide it to the side for safety.we turned the car engine completely off and let it rest for several minutes. It started and we got back on the road and drove directly to a vw service that was closest to us. They saw "faults" of being low on fuel and stated we should fill the fuel tank before it gets to the reserve amount.it has not stopped since we implemented this intervention.however there was an earlier problem with losing the power while driving at freeway speeds that we did not report as it seemed to correct itself within about 60 seconds while driving.concerns are raised on 2 counts: 1.is it really about fuel level, when no other car i have ever owned has completely stopped when low on fuel (not empty, low) and,2. This seems to be a complaint that has been experienced by others before.this makes us concerned about the operation of the vehicle, safety and the risk of accidents.

I used my trunk for the first time after purchasing my new car.after i shut it, there was a gap between the trunk lid and the bottom, as if it was still open.i put my hand underneath the trunk lid in order to lift and try again. Before i could lift, the trunk hydraulic-ly closed down tightly on my fingers.my hand was clamped, immovable.luckily in my other hand i had the keys, and was able to unlock the trunk, because the pain was excruciating.i believe this may have had something to do with the mechanics of the hard top convertible which lowers into the trunk.while this may be a good way to trap a burglar who thinks the trunk is open, it is very dangerous, and especially if a small child happened to put their fingers near it.this caused deep indentation marks on the tops and bottoms of my fingers, wrist throbbing and numbness/prickling in my fingers.
Car was in morning traffic and failed due to timing belt failure at 85000 miles. Car was maintained by dealership at recommended intervals. The manuals and dealer recommended belt replacement at 110000 miles. Fortunately my wife was not injured or killed in what could have led to a serious accident. After looking at the internet and talking to mechanics, this appears to be a major safety flaw that should lead to a recall of these motors by the nhtsa and correction by volkswagen and payment for motor replacement.
Gearbox failure! direct failure to gearbox causes car to malfunction while in motion. Vehicle will stop abruptly (travelling on the interstate!) and refuse to go back into any gear, including but not limited to, reverse and drive. Repeatitive problem and isn't isolated to one specific event (but many occasions)
Vehicle lurched during start of acceleration. Also sounded and felt like it was searching for a gear and couldn't find it. Slamming of gears felt and heard - intermittently. Took to local dealership and it was immediately taken in and the clutch plates were replaced. Previous work recorded was the replacement of the mechtronic unit. So far after 100 miles the issue appears better but not totally relieved. Still slight hesitation between gears. No slamming.also previously parking on a hill was an issue. No roll stop without brakes or braking. Now after repair the vehicle will stop rollback after 1 ft.

This makes texting while driving seem like a safe way to behave.
The car slipped out of gear and the engine revved up to 5k rpms almost got hit from behind due to the rapid reduction in my speed.this is the 4th time this transmission has been worked on and vw will not work with me to remedy the problem for a reasonable price.
The car unexpectedly jumps gears when slowing down and or speeding up.the problem is especially bad while going in reverse.after a bit of research, it looks like this is an issue with the dsg component of the transmission that many people have experienced in this model/make of the eos. This unexpected jumping and jerking has the potential to cause an accident on the road.

I was driving my car on a local city street and halfway through a turn all of a sudden it went into neutral on it's own, all the gears on the dash started flashing (the park, reverse, and drive) they started flashing on and off as my transmission went haywire. I had to pull over and avoid being hit as i had no control over my speed, i could not accelerate. The engine was racing and there was no forward motion at all. My car has a dsg (direct shift gearbox).
2008 vw eos switched from drive to neutral with high engine rpm.
Purchased 2008 vw eox on 09/11/2009.car would briefly stall-out and pop into gear when accelerating into traffic from a stop.02/12/08 - dealer could not duplicate or find error codes.12/16/08 - car has become worse, stalls more often, rolls backwards, bangs - dealer could not duplicate or find error codes.03/18/09 - after almost having an accident from the transmission failure, dealer scans and found no failure records - unable to duplicate.07/07/09 - dealer was able to verify problem by test driving - 07/31/09 - dealer replaced mechatronics unit.the car drove better than ever after the replacement.yesterday 08/27/09 car stalled lurched, banged, and slipped through gears when accelerating from a stop into traffic.narrowly missed having an accident.
My 2008 eos 2.0t with 6 speed dsg transmission has erratic acceleration in forward and reverse from standstill.usually the car has been parked for several hours and the engine and transmission have cooled.it has occurred over a wide range of temperatures although it does sometimes dissipate after extended driving.the failure can best be described as several surges of the throttle in first gear or reverse gear.my foot is typically depressing the pedal with a constant velocity to a shallow position which would normally permit me to slowly pull away from a stop sign or back out of a parking space.instead, the car seems to surge at a much greater speed for an instant, coast for another instant, and repeat until i either apply the break or further decrease the pedal.when decreasing the pedal further the surging stops once i reach an acceleration consistent with the peak of the surge.my primary concern is that the inconsistent acceleration will lead to property damage and minor accidents.a secondary concern is that if this problem worsens it may cause whiplash from ever more violent acceleration and deceleration cycles.no corrective measures have been taken as vw has not provided dealerships and service shops with a way to accurately reproduce the effect or detect it's occurrence via fault codes.
My 08 vw eos has been having a jerking (feeling like being rear ended) and sputtering in the transmission since i have had it, bought the end of june 08 i have contacted the dealership about this several times to include just before my surgery nov 11, 09. It was in the shop several times and i was told everytime there was no issue. I finally recv'd a notice in the mail dec 22, 09 from vw saying that there has been an issue but no fix till summer 2010. On nov 11 09 i had to have neck surgery because the car jerk is so bad it feels like i am being rear ended i would have to look in my rear view mirror to see if i had been hit. And i have told the dealership this as well. After telling the dealership i had surgery because of this they are requesting my car to come back to the shop and it will be dropped off tomorrow 2/5/10 but there is still no fix for this issue according to the letter i recv'd in dec.
The continuing problem first reported to vw service in october of 2008 has to do with the bucking and lurching of the car when starting from a complete stop. It often lurches and does not start smoothly. We have reported this to the service department and taken it into the service department twice. The first time we were told it was ok and just something eos's do. The second time we took it in because it was getting worse and they actually drove it and acknowledged it was "lurching" more than expected. They did look at it but it continues to lurch. Since having it back the lurching still occurs and seems to be getting worse. It seems to occur more frequently when the car engine is warm. This has been an on-going problem since shortly after purchasing the car in march of 2008. I will be taking it back to the service department again to see if they can fix the lurching. This continues to be of great concern as when in traffic and not smoothly starting, the possibility of accidents is very real as cars are whizzing around us.

2008 vw eos lux.when new, the vehicle was great, and then we experienced what felt like running over a speed bump when accelerating from a stop; at around 25-30 mph, the shift is very harsh and the car seems to momentarily lose power.the dealer "reflashed" the car, which seem to solve the problem, but it came back.they then replaced the mechatronics unit, but the problem persists.when pulling onto a busy street this problem is an accident waiting to happen.
Car surges and bucks at low speeds, sometimes when accelerating from a stop in drive, always when backing up a slight incline in reverse.
Vehicle purchased on 02 sept 2008.have had continuous problems with the transmission kicking, stalling, lurching, rolling back.have taken to dealer at 952, 5632, and 10171miles.dealer stated that they could not recreate and no errors were found during testing.recently car stalled going into traffic and came very close to causing an accident.last time in @ 15,845 miles dealer ordered new mechatron unit.
2008 vw eos dsg automatic transmission has same issues as reported by other drivers on newer models.the biggest safety hazard are delays in shifting gears crucial for lane changing and passing.at worst vehicle seems to run out of steam or not be 100 percent there.i have owned another vw with dsg and those symptoms were never present.the problems are on and off.car has never stalled but most of the incidents involved delayed shift and loss of power.
Transmission stutters erratically from dead stop and reverse.hesitation and then surge in acceleration that can be dangerous in close quarters with other objects or vehicles.i noticed the problem as soon as i took delivery of the car in june, 2008, but it seems to be getting worse and more dangerous.
I purchased a 2008 vw eos lux 2.0t with dsg transmission in september 2007.almost from the time of purchase i experienced antic behavior from the transmission which i initially dismissed because i knew it was a new kind of transmission that i wasn't used to.my problems consisted of surging, rough shifts and a complete loss of power when attempting from a dead stop.this latter condition was the most dangerous as i would be putting my foot down for power (for instance, accelerating into fast moving traffic) and the power would just disappear completely and the car would hedge and balk.my vw dealer has seen my car 5-6 times now for repeated transmission issues.they replaced a mechatronics unit in february 2008.then they replaced the dual clutch packs later that year.this year they replaced the mechatronics unit again when they determined that the first replacement unit was from a manufacturing run of units that were known to be faulty.i'd say that after this recent fix the transmission is about 95% of normal.i still experience awkward shifts from time to time.it is worth noting that these persistent problems were extremely difficult to diagnose because they were often intermittent and there were no computer fault codes recorded by the car's diagnostics.it was only through the patience and persistence of the service department at my vw dealer that the problems were eventually diagnosed and remedied.as it happened, the most dangerous condition (the dramatic momentary loss of power when accelerating hard) was determined to not be a result of the transmission but from a faulty brake switch.this switch is responsible for protecting the transmission by not allowing the transmission to be revved too high when the brakes were still on.the switch on my car was delayed in telling the computer on my car that i had taken my foot off the brake and wanted power.the switch was replaced and the hedging/loss of power from a dead stop went away.
I own a 2008 volkswagen eos.experienced uneven, lurching, and labored shifting starting out from a dead stop in drive or reverse.took it to the dealership and they told me that the mechatronics unit had gone out.the dealership (northpoint volkswagen of north little rock) will not return any phone calls.my husband had to drive 30 minutes today to go to the dealership in person. They told him the part was on backorder and gave no indication of a timeframe when the car would be finished.
Dsg transmission in 2008 vw eos began lurching/hesitating and dropping into neutral at 12,000 mi.by 15,000 mi. Car couldn't be driven in bumper to bumper traffic without bucking like a bronco.several times when merging at highway speeds, car would lose complete power as the trans shifted to neutral without warning.backing up, especially with any incline, was another lurching affair, much like a new driver attempting to drive a manual trans for the first time.taking of from a stoplight was hit or miss.car would lurch and hesitate, causing drivers behind me to slam on brakes as i lost power.very dangerous and uneasy feeling.vw dealer determined problem was caused by a failed mechatronics unit in the dsg.was replaced under warranty at approx. 16,000 miles.old part was not made available.
I have a 2008 vw eos with a dsg transmission.either accelerating from a stop or accelerating from a slower speed (such as passing or blending into traffic) all power to the wheels is lost for between 1 and 5 seconds, the car not only does not accelerate it slows down significantly.this does not happen often, perhaps once or twice a month, but it is both dangerous and frightening.i simply cannot depend on the car to react consistently.this is not just a very momentary turbo lag or transmission shift.the dealer has looked into the problem, but i was unable to replicate the problem.they also said that without an error code being thrown, there was nothing for them to do.i put down a date of incident required by your system, but it is an ongoing, intermittent problem.
Dsg automatic transmission issue:the car briefly loses power while accelerating and downshifting, then suddenly makes a hard clunk sound and lunges forward.this has made merging onto interstate a bit stressful.this failure occurs regularly though i can avoid it by using manual mode to hold the lower gears longer.this issue was brought up to the vw dealer back in the early summer of 2008 and as expected, they "found" nothing wrong as has been the case with everyone else in the vwvortex forums.

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 volkswagen eos. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver with constant vibration. The failure recurred only when driving 50 mph and greater. In addition, the power steering warning indicator illuminated intermittently upon starting the ignition. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000. Js
A leased 2008 volkswagen eos has several problem with only 2100 miles on it.*njthe consumer stated she heard a noise coming from the front tire.the panel was peeling off the drivers side door and the convertible top would squeal when the consumer went to lower it. The consumer received a call, a couple of days later and was told the hydraulic motor had went bad in the convertible top and the click in the tires had been fixed. The consumer stated the clicking in the tires was still there, the dealer just rotated the tires.
I own a volkswagen eos. From the start my car has had a water leak issue. I've taken it to the service center affiliated with the dealership where i purchased my car countless times in order to have the issue repaired. Each time i do, they tell me it's repaired & i come to find out the next time it rains, snows or goes through a car wash, that the leaking has not been repaired. The leak has even caused technical issues with the car. One of the last times i brought my car to the service center to have it repaired, i was told that when i drive the car, it shifts and causes the leak to start again. Basically, their resolution was that if i don't drive my car, it won't leak.after that, i got fed up & contacted the main vw help center. They gave me a case number and had a regional manager handling my case. She told me that in order for them to proceed, i would have to bring it back to the dealership to have the leaking issue verified. The service center verified the leak & then told her that they repaired the issue. She contacted me and said that she really believes it was fixed this time. I asked her what i should do if the leak started again, since i knew it would, and she told me if it did, i should contact her.lo & behold, the next time it rained, the leak began again. I contacted her and she told me i would have to bring it back to the service center to have it verified. Again, i brought it to the service center, again they said the fixed it, again it leaked when it rained. I contacted her and again she told me i would have to bring it to the service center to have the issue verified. Obviously, this is a never ending circle and this is their way of handling the issue until someone is too fed up and gives up. They've had my case for so long that they've given me 3 different case numbers to keep the case up to date.
I was already parking in my space in front of my house when suddenly instead of stop the car run off passing the concrete barrier and going toward the house .i couldn't stop it, i just drove across the lawn, avoiding to crash first against the brick wall turned right then i went against a ficus tree and the car keep going toward a palm tree so i turned again right but finally was out of control and crash against my neighbor car that was parked. The good think was nobody was there, so there were not injures.
Roof leaks, possible gasket problems with joints.
I purchased a 2008 volkswagen eos on 10/1/2007. About 1 month later i began hearing rattling in the convertible top when it was up. Today is 3/16/2008 and my vehicles has only 2900 miles. I've been unable to drive it due to the rattling noise. It has been brought into vw repair shop 8 times each time they thought it was fixed but when i took it the rattling always came back within a day or 2. I finally had it. They agreed. They voluntarily gave me a phone number to call to start arbitration and told me they would either buy back my vehicle or give me a new eos.
The trunk on my eos will automatically shut once the latch is released to open.it will raise and then lower before i have time to get back to lift it up.i have taken it in 4 times to the dealership where the first two times they raised the sensors, the third time they replaced the sensors, and the fourth time they replaced the complete hydraulic system.the trunk still has the problem.
"takata recall"dsg failure
2008 vw eosi followed behind a car (taxi) from a stop light which turned green.the cab stopped short to let off passengers immediately after green light.i was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.i was going less than 25 mph at the time of the collision.my airbags did not deploy but a fire started in the engine and immediately engulfed the car.*tw
The interior side door panel the material comes lose.i had to replace the driver side about 1 year ago and currently in the middle of replacing the passenger side.from researching this seems common with the eos.i would think this would be a qualifier for a recall.the car i have only has 67,000 miles, stored in a garage and very limited time with the top down.if being left outside for any time the top is always put up to protect the interior.

The contact owns a 2008 volkswagen eos. The contact stated that while driving, the sun roof exploded. The contact stated that she sustained minor injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that something may have hit the sun roof and caused it to shatter. The vehicle was not repaired.
