While riding my 2010 abs victory vision at approximately 45 mph, i heard a scraping sound from the front tire area. Since it was brief i thought nothing of it. Later, on a victory specific website someone posted that the rear section of their front fender had broken free and become lodged in the steering in such a way sat to prevent turning the handle bars.remembering the odd sound from an earlier ride i checked my bike and found my front fender (rear section) had cracked and was loose. My assumption is that the sound i heard was the plastic rubbing the tire when it first broke loose.
Ref: investigation pe 14-006rear section of front wheel fender cracked at mounting points and interfered with steering.part was replaced by dealer at my expense, not under warrantee.this incident is documented on my dealer's work order #1948.
The front fender on this motorcycle is 2 piece. The front section is stamped steel and the rear section is plastic. The plastic rear section is mounted to the forks with 2 hex head bolts. The plastic fender cracks at the bolt attachment points causing the rear fender section to come loose and jam into the front fairing opening. When this happens all steering control is lost. This is becoming a common problem on these vehicles once they get approx. 2 years old and older.
