Victory motorcycle 2000 model 92sc - kick stand spring broke causing kick stand to come down and had to make an emergency stop.this is the second time the spring on the kick stand has broken.this is a potentially hazardous and life threatening occurrence.

The consumer received a recall regarding the fuel pump on november 23,2002.the consumer made an appointment with the dealer.the first time the vehicle was taken for repairs the dealer indicated that not parts were available.for the last three months the part has not been available.the dealer also stated the they didn't have time to fix the motorcycle.(manger name is [xxx]). *nlmthe part for the recall has been made available as of 01/31/03.the dealer stated that they'll call when the part has arrived.the dealer hasn't made the repairs to the vehicle.recall#02v263000sccinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

After recall for fuel pump replacement the symptoms for which the recall was required now have made the vehicle do exactly what the recall was made forin the first place. I did not have this problem before this work was done.

The contact owns a 2000 victory v92sc sportcruiser.while riding approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed that when he would change gears, the vehicle would drop from third to second and then to fourth gear.the neutral indicator would illuminate, but the vehicle would not be in gear.the failure could have resulted in a crash.the dealer stated that the third gear failed and could be repaired at the cost of $3,200.all the parts to replace the gears have been discontinued.the manufacturer informed the contact to take the vehicle to a local dealer and have all the recalls repaired.the vehicle was repaired for the recalls; however, the manufacturer stated that they were not liable for the issues with the gears slipping because there was no recall for that particular failure.the failure mileage was 18,000 and current mileage was 18,300.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 55 mph and letting off of the gas the transmission knocked. When the vehicle was driven below 40 mph and the transmission would not knock. The dealer was contacted however the main technician was unavailable. The contact discovered there were complaints of the same year, make, and model on the internet which indicated the transmission locked and needed to be replaced.

At least once in every 17mile commute a false neutral is found in changing gears.the gear shift will give an audible click, but then no gear will have actually been engaged (or the transmission slips out of gear) when the clutch lever is released.danger lies that transmission may not operate while in a turn or acceleration in traffic which could result in crash and injury.attempts to have problem repaired resulted in, "no problem found, however the complaint is noted with the factory."now when the bike is in gear and slight downward pressure is placed on shifter pedal - a slight grinding noise is heard.

Sprocket to drive belt cracked causing the drive belt on the motorcycle to disengage.extremely dangerous event to occur while travelling on a motorcycle.

Year 2000 victory v92sc motorcycle with 5000 miles. The transmission has had a history"false" neutrals andit has just downshifted on its own for the first time.

Occasionally the transmision on my sport cruiser will miss a gear when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gears.it sticks when down shifting through second gear, making it difficult to find neutral.on occasion it will show that it is in neutral when the transmission isn't.overall the transmission shifts very hard and loud.the dealer said that this is typical, and that there is nothing that can be done until it completely fails.i bought the motorycle new in may 2003 hence the dates.the first time it happend was about a week after owning it.

I own a 2000 victory v92sc motorcycle. The transmission pops out of gear frequently between 3rd and 4th gear. In addition, the bike has down shifted from 3rd to 2nd on 2 recent occasions. The scare incident was when i was pulling on to the expressway last week. As i accelerated in 3rd gear, i was getting ready to pull out into traffic and the bike suddenly dropped back into second. I had to grab the clutch and pull onto the shoulder of the road to avoid getting hit by a semi. It took several minutes to get the bike out of second and ready to roll again.have had enough concern with this transmission that my wife know to sequester the bike if i am ever injured or killed in a crash. I have a friend in ohio that is a mechanic and he will determine what went wrong for our attorney. Does someone have to die before these admittedly faulty transmissions are recalled? i have paid a lot of money for this bike and polaris knows the transmissions are defective. They have the retro-fit repair kits available, but refuse to fix their mistake? why won't my government watchdog agency step in and hold them accountable?

Poor transmission performance. Worst transmission i have experienced in over thirty years of riding motorcycles. Involuntary downshift on occasion.

Have experienced significant transmission failure on my 2000 victory sc motorcycle with only 1200 miles. Dealer refuses to assist and polaris will not admit to faulty design. Symptoms began with only 500 miles on transmissions.

I have a 2000 victory sc that down shifts from 3rd to 2nd gear with no warning!! this almost caused an accident the 3rd time. I have parked the bike until the is fixed.

Driving on a on ramp accelerating to catch up with traffic and shifted from 2nd to 3rd and it popped out of 3rd to a false neutral when merging on a car came from behind quickly due to my sudden deceleration... Brought it t victory dealer they went to polaris head office and they decided by looking at my engine and back tire and my back brake pads it was abuse...i had them pull it apart due to them telling me if you want them to cover it the dealer will have to pull it apart .. I paid 450 dollars and after they would not cover it i brought it back to my house and replaced the parts they said were defective and also what was evident to me. It worked fine for about a thousand miles and know once again it is starting to get a false neutral...i can not trust this motorcycleincident date is a estimate of the day not exactly since i don't remember.

Repeated false neutrals when shifting transmission.also occuring less frequently, dropping out of gear when pressure is relieved from drivetrain.the false neutralsoccur between the 2-3 gear shift.when they occur there is no indication of being in a neutral selector position (ie: neutral light).i must upshift the transmission again.no accidents have occured, but i have had a couple of close calls.this has been reported previously to nhtsa.the total number of shift failures, over my ownership is 50+ (oct 2001).the number indicated on this form is just for 05-29-05.

I own 2000polaris victory v92sc that has transmission problems. It does not shift properly, often while shifting from 2nd to third gearit hits a false nuetral causing the motor to rev high rpms ,this has happened many times while pulling into traffic causung some near miss rearenders, . A few times it has dropped out of third gear into 2nd unexpectedly, once while going around a corner causing my wheel to lock up. I bought this bike new in 2003the problems showed up within the first 500 miles, when i reported the problems to my dealer he said its me not the bike, which i find strange because my 23 year old kawasaki never misshifts or drops gears.

Transmission has false neutral between 2nd and 3rd. Occasionally drops from 3rd to 2nd gear or pops out of gear. This has caused drastic decreases of speed in traffic situations and a lack of controllability which can lead to a crash.

I have a 2000 victory v92sc and it has 1510 miles on it and when i shift from 2nd to 3rd it will shift fine but at higher rpms it will slip out, if i try to shift from 2nd to 3rd or down from 4th to 3rd at high rpms it will not go in at all and this causes me to not have a gear when called for. I feel that if 3rd gear was to break it would cause a serious accident. The recall is not covered on the sc but it is for the v92. I was told by dealer this would cost 1500.00+ at my expense with such little miles makes me very worried about selling this bike to someone.

The transmission drops from 4th to 3rd, or 3rd to 2nd, while driving, creating a dangerous situation.the dealer has informed me that this is normal and told me unless the transmission completely breaks down, it would not be covered under warranty.scc***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****770800****

I would like to report what i believe is a defective transmission on my victory motorcycle.i own a 2000 victory sport cruiser made by polaris.the motorcycle has roughly 5000 miles on the odometer.i have been experiencing several problems:1. With increasing frequency the bike will go into neutral when upshifting from 2cd - 3rd gear causing the engine to race.i would estimate that this has occurred 3-4 times in the last 3 months of only occasional riding.it was happening less frequently before that.2. On two occasions, when attempting to upshift from 3-4th the engine has dropped into 2cd causing a mild skid in loose gravel, could have been worse.3. I talked to my local victory dealer maintenance guy and he told me that other owners of the same year bikes have reported the same problems.he also mentioned that if the transmission starts to make a "grinding gravel" noise, especially in a leaning position that this may indicate a worsening problem.as predicted my bike has started to produce this noise.even (and especially) when the bike is coasting or mildly accelerating.this is a different noise than simply a loud whining noise that victory bikes are known to have.it is more rough and irregular like grinding marbles or gravel.it seems to get worse after the bike has been ridden for a while.anyway, he felt it may present an unsafe situation and recommended upgrading to at least a 2003 transmission but polaris has no current offer to cover this and the exchange would be prohibitively costly.my local dealer is rocky mountain motorsports, colorado springs, co.

I, like many other victory motorcycle owners are having transmission problems.ometimes they shift and sometimes they dont.my transmission shifts poorly between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th gears.the bike has 9,100 miles on it and has been doing this for quite some time now.dearler says there is no problem with the transmission. I filled a date in only because your form required it, this problem is ongoing so no date can be given.

The transmission in my 2000 victory v92sc is slipping out of gear and going into false neutrals.i fear it may lock up like others making a crash inevitable.

I have a 2000 model polaris victory motorcycle that has a defective transmission. The transmission does not shift properly, especially from 2nd to 3rd gear, often going into a false neutral and causing the engine to race. It will often hang up in gear when downshifting.transmission jumps out of 3rd gear when shifting up or down through the gears. This creates a very dangerous situation when in heavy traffic. It is getting much worse as the miles accumulate. I believe the transmission will fail; possibly locking up altogether and possibly causing a crash.

Many false neutrals on up shifting.particularly between 3-4 gear shift.no neutral light when this occurs.it has popped out of gear twice, when in 4th gear and power is suddenly backed off.the date selected on this form is the last time it has occurred.*la

Transmission does not shift properly, creates false neutral between second and third gear, also falls back out of gear which causes over reving of motor that could lead to engine failure

My sc has always shifted a little hard and loud.but after during a 1200 mile trip in fla. This year from bikeweek things started getting worse. Tranny seems to miss shift and hit nuetralfor no reason. And shifting has gotten hard and much louder.not sure if i want to ride it, i am concerned this could cause some sort of accident. I was pulling out accross traffic last month and should have been in 1st gear and the tranny went into nuetral and we almost got hit.

Transmission jumps out of 3rd gear whenshifting up or down through the gears.this can cause a serious problem when in traffic as the transmision either goes into neutral or down to 2nd gear.the many dealers i have spoken to about this problem admit that they know about it but will not repair it under my extended warranty with out dismantelling the transmission at my possible cost and if an independent party (a warranty rep) finds a problem, then possibly, they will repair it.

Purchased bike on 4/21/06 with 2000 miles on it.since then i have put 1485 miles on it. The transmission is progressively getting more difficult to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. It sometimes takes a double shift to get it into 3rd gear all the way. This also happens from 4th to 5th gears. Shifting is smooth when just starting but when the bike warms up at all the shifting gets progressively worse, gear changes are very harsh. When i address the victory dealer with this problem he seems to not want to comment much about the problem. When i ask how much it would cost to repair the transmission if and more like when it fails i am quoted $3500 to $4000. This is a far cry from the $500 to $700 for labor that you have been quoted in the defect investigation nhtsa action number ea05002. Why is an investigation getting quoted such low numbers for a repair but actual customers getting quoted thousands of dollars more?when i first purchased this bike i didn't worry about the clunky transmission because of a review i read off the internet. This review was by the minnesota motorcycle monthly. This line is cut directly from the article (http://www.motorbyte.com/mmm/pages/reviews/review_00.htm): "the five-speed transmission is quieter than that of the original bikes, it still clunks but not so dramatically. The factory maintains that this is solely due to the transmission being overbuilt for longevity and to handle whatever you hot-riders out there due to the motor."i also questioned the dealer about the number of v92sc he has had to repair transmission on. He stated that he has had to about 7 transmission so far. I am from the portland area and considering that this was a new product at the time, a relatively small population, there wouldn't have been to many sold. This appears to be an excessive number of bike to have this problem.

- the contact owns a 2000 victory sport cruiser.he received a recall notice in november (recall #06v303000).the contact spoke to the dealer on april 11 2007 and were advised that the manufacturer that would not deliver the parts until june.the contact felt that this is too long to wait for the part.the currently mileage on the vehicle is 11,000 miles.there had been no failures to date.

I have had a number of false nuetrals, transmission slipping from 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd.which has caused a lot of close calls in traffic, that has made me to quit riding until i can get it fixed, as i normally ride two up, i have more than my own health to consider. My dealer has told me this is normal on these older bikes, and in my opinion, is very dangerous.date is not exact, as there were numerous occasions.

Hello. My name is [xxx] i own a 2000 victory sport cruiser motorcycle made by polaris. Since i have owned the motorcycle it has had problems with slipping into false neutral between 2nd and 3rd gears and sometimes spontaneously dropping down from 3rd to 2nd. This does not occur all the time. Maybe every once every 50 to 100 miles. To this date it has not caused me to have an accident, but i believe it may be something that should be fixed by the maker of the motorcycle. I have recently discovered that many other owners of the early (1999-2001) model victory motorcycles have had similar problems. The problem usually progresses until the transmission fails completely. I believe this is a potentially dangerous problem that needs your attention. Thank you [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Transmision problems with my polaris victory v92sc motorcycle. Getting false neutrals and the transmi downshiftsby itself. Shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear and the transmision will at times down shift back to 2nd gear without any warning. This is or could be a very dangerous problem. Loss of vehicle control could happen in certain situations. The warrranty company and polaris want to make the owner liable for expenses if they deem the transmision to be okay. I believe this is not an isolated incident, and many owners of victory motorcycles are dealing with this problem. This is definitely a safety issue and should be corrected. Thank you.

My 2000 victory 92 sc sport cruiser with 10,000 miles sometime get in to false neutral when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, it gettting progressively worst and can be dangerous and causing accident.please open an investigation on this transmission issue with the polaris manufactory.i can be contacted if needed.

2000 victory sportcruiser: i'm having trouble with the transmission.symptoms are as follows: a) false neutral between 2 and 3 gear - this occurs intermittently in both up-shifts and down-shifts.the condition gets more pronounced when the bike is warmed up.this has occurred at low rpm shifts (3000) and higher rpm shifts (4500+).b) during a 2 to 3 shift, the lever will hang in the "up" position until i engage (let out) the clutch.at that point it will fall back into its normal position.it does this more often than a) but not always.i have contacted a local dealer and he suggested that i contact polaris customer service and see if i can get a commitment from them to provide an upgrade kit free of charge.they have done this for numberous other owners.i recently contacted polaris customer service but it is too soon to expect a response.the specific incident which occured on 6/29/05 regarded a 3 to 2 down shift in a 90 degree left hand turn.i had down shifted going into the turn but did not release the clutch until just past the apex.i did not accelerate as expected due to the false neutral.the combination of bike lean and unexpected lack of accelleration caused me to cross the centerline prior to regaining control of the bike.fortunately there was no oncoming vehicle.two other times that day, i experienced a false neutral between 2 and 3 gears.the other occurances did not contrubute to a dangerous condition because there was no vehicle following close behind.i understand that these symptoms are the first signs of transmission failure on the 99 and 2000 my victory motorcycles.i perfer to be proactive rather than to wait until i experience a rear wheel lock up as others have.

I have a 2000 victory motorcycle. Some times it likes to downshift by itself.

My2000 polaris victory sportcruiser transmission occasionally pops out of gear, misses a gear or gives me a false neutral. This presents a very dangerous situation when downshifting on highways. My kickstand has also been bent.it was recalled, but not fixed.

When accellerating up through gears, sometimes when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, transmission hangs in neutral, like shift was missed. On re-shifting it goes into 3rd. This is quite unnerving, especially in heavy traffic, and could easily cause a dangerous situation.

My boyfriend was riding my victory 2000sc and experienced a failure from 4th gear into a false neutral temporarily and then popping back into third on its own.he was in a cornering position at the time and if weren't for his many years of experience he would have wrecked.if i had been riding it at the time, due to my lack of experience compared to his, i would have inevitably wrecked.this problem needs recalling before someone gets killed.the 99, 00, and 01 victory's all have this defective tranny due to a factory engineering defect.......and victory (polaris) needs to correct the problem and replace on a recall.

I have been having trouble with the transmission on my 2000 victory v92sc for about as long as i have had it (that is 2.5 years).the bike only has 9000 miles on it and i am the original owner.sometimes the bike will not go into gear and sometimes it will "pop" out of gear.i have gone to my local dealer and they say that they cannot replicate the problem so until there is a major mechanical failure they will do nothing.the dealer i bought it from latter said there was an issue with the transmissions.he said an internal part was notorious for getting loose and causing damage.instead of tightinging it he recomended that i ride with it like that until it fails and the they will replace the tranny under warranty with the new tranny style parts.i said no and had them tighten it.i wish i would have listened and had the new parts.

I own a 2000 victory sport cruiser and one week ago i was almost in a serious accident due to my 3rd gear failing i could not accelerate to get out of the way of a car that did not see me there was a car behind me so i could not stop either i ended up on the shoulder of the road lucky not have crashed at 35 mph or sothis was the first time it failedand thought it was just my bike but after seeing all the complaints that have been sent to you and polaris it is defiantly a manufacturing defect and i can not believe you have not issued a mandatory recall. Is it going to take some one to die before this happens is that what our country has come down too.

The transmission will slip in and out of gear when riding also it locks up when riding and will skid out of control now i am afraid to ride motorcycle for fear of a crash.

The contact owns a 2000 victory v92sc sportcruiser motorcycle. While driving 20 mph and shifting into third gear he heard a loud pop and the motorcycle failed to shift gears. Before the contact took his vehicle to the dealer he contacted the manufacturer and was told that his vin was related to nhtsa#06v298000 component: power train:manual transmission. The dealer stated that they would repair the vehicle in a couple of days; however, after the vehicle was repaired he noticed that third and fourth gears were inoperable. The dealer later stated that he would be responsible for paying $2,800 to have the vehicle repaired since his vin was not a part of the recall although the manufacturer stated that it was related. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 3,410.

Onmy 2000 victory sport cruiser built by polaris industries, i had a counter balance shaft completely strip out effecting the primary drive sprocket rendering the transmission useless.the motorcycle transmission failed at 7,500 miles under mild to normal highway use. Dealer is looking into transmission repair under warranty.

Transmisson will drop from 4th gear to 3rd gear with out notace trasmission will not stay in gear some times with out holding foot umder shift lever at times.

I have a 2000 victory motorcycle with a transmission defect. It often slps out of gear or into a false neutral when shifting. This is merely frustrating when out on country roads, but nerve wracking when in traffic. I am afraid that it will eventually cause me or my spouse to be injured. Motorcycles are supposed to shift when when called upon not leave you stranded in ptentially lifethreatening situations trying to find a gear to get you out of harms way.victory is well aware of the problem and has provided replacement parts to many affected owners, while making the owner of the vehicle pay for labor. Their decision to pony upis on a case by case basis, but these vehicles are renowned for this issue. Why aren't they being forced to accept responsibility before someone gets hurt?
