Catastrophic engine failure while decelerating from approximately 40 mph at 8,000 rpm under otherwise normal riding conditions. Engine stalled and wouldn't restart. Upon examination it was found that cylinder 2 suffered a broken valve, damaging the piston, remaining valves, and cylinder head. Had the engine seized, or had this happened mid-corner, this certainly would have resulted in a crash.odometer was at approximately 10,500 miles.
