While traveling on the freeway at 60mph, my regulator/rectifier quite working causing the engine lost complete power. I was forced to pull over and cross 3 land of heavy traffic avoiding and managed to avoid getting hit several times. After calling several dealers, i told this is a common problem and that even brand new motorcycles have come back with this same issue, but are fixed only to come back 7k miles late with the same regulator/rectifier problem. I did some investigation and found out though a web blog called triumph675.net that this is a very common problem with bikes motorcycles. Apparently the location of the regulator/rectifier is too close the engine, heating theregulator/rectifier and ultimately affecting it's lifespan of the part.some even have caused electrical shorts and settingthe motorcycles on fire. ( see youtube videos on line re: 675 triumph electrical problems ) this is a prevalent problem that is affecting new and used bike with low miles. Some owners have stated that they have replaced this part not just once but twice. At a cost of $200 each time, once can only imagine the how profitable this rapidity falling part be.the problem is so prevalent that a 3rd part company has developed who sells a kit that alleviates this issue.
I was at a red-light and my gas light came on, as i went to go when the light turned green the bike stuttered and slowly went. The gas light went off in about a 1/2 mile, i was going to pull into a gas station right after the next light i came to and then my gas light came back on along with the oil light and check engine light, the bikes rpms dropped and shut off. There was a car coming up fast behind me that was not paying attention and almost hit me and started honking their horn at me. I then had to run my bike across a busy road during memorial day weekend. My rectifier burned, my stator burned and my battery is dead. All very expensive parts that need to be replaced that happens to every daytona owner!this is a known issue with all triumph daytona 675 owners!

This report was prepared by driver's attorney. Please contact attorney at number/address below to obtain driver's contact information or for further information.on feb 1, 2014, driver was traveling on highway in the county of san mateo, ca at 60-65 mph in clear, dry conditions. Companion traveling on another motorcycle immediately behind driver observed driver going over a bump in the road and observed the rear of driver's motorcycle collapsing onto the rear wheel. This caused the wheel to lock up, which in turn caused driver to lose control of the motorcycle and be ejected onto the roadside. Driver sustained injuries and significant damage to motorcycle. Subsequent inspection of the motorcycle revealed that the cause of the accident was failure of the drop linkage plates, which caused the suspension to fail and the motorcycle to collapse onto its rear wheel. Inspection of the plates suggests that they suffer from a safety defect that causes them to elongate and fracture under ordinary driving conditions, which in turn causes catastrophic locking/failure of the affected motorcycles' rear wheels. Factual investigation and further research indicates that numerous drivers of other triumph motorcycles have experienced crashes as a result of the same defect. Affected models appear to be, but may not be limited to: 2006, 2007, 2008, and certain 2009 triumph daytona 675 and street triple 675 motorcycles. Triumph appears to have changed the material used to manufacture this part from aluminum to steel at some point in 2009, but full details are not known at this time.
