Was hit from behind by a pickup truck going 40mph while i was stopped at an intersection. I was 5 months pregnant at the time. I was propelled into oncoming traffic where my right side passenger side was hit by a sedan. No airbags deployed. Contacted toyota who reviewed my accident photos, and they claim the frame was not damaged, so the airbags wouldn't have deployed, but i don't buy it. The back end, glass, bumper, etc, was destroyed and my passenger door was completely caved in. The car was totaled. I don't see any reason the airbags would not have deployed, especially since i was completely stopped and was hit very hard. I suffered major bruising to my arms and legs, neck and back pain, all requiring several days off work.

Takata recall", toyota has not yet provided a remedy for this recall. My car is impacted and could be a danger to drive.

I have not received a call from toyota about the takata inflators . I was told not to use de passenger seat. Every time i go for a change oil, i asked them when they're going to replace it, and they just answer that they will send a letter to let me know.it's been a while and have not hear from them. It's scary to drive longer distances knowing that.thanks for your help on this matter.

I had accident on driver side front with other car. My front bumper, fender, hood, under hood, body frame every thing in front has been crushed. Insurance declared total my car. But no air bag did not deployed. Seatbelt also was not tight. I was injured due to heat on steering wheel and went to emergency. Still i have pain on my body. November 10, 2017 - i was t-boned by a motorist (who ran the light) on the drivers side while attempting a left hand turn thru an intersection.the 2010 toyota yaris i was driving was totaled by the collision ($8,266.72 of damage to the drivers side).the yaris side airbags did not deploy. The yaris's left driver side door was collapsed into the yaris cabin with enough force to break my samsung note 4 phone display & damage its internal solid state drive.the samsung note 4 was encased in an otter box and attached to my left hip via otter belt clip during the time of accident.my head struck a hard surface in the yaris, resulting in a large hematoma on my left frontal lobe.toyota investigated and found that within the span of 68 milliseconds, the lateral delta-v airbag sensor was accelerated from 0.0 mph to 11.1 mph.yet the side airbag did not deploy.per toyota, since the side airbag sensor was deemed in proper working order and did notdesignate the collision warranted deployment of airbags, everything functioned normally.when queried what threshold was required to deploy the airbags (noting the instantaneous lateral acceleration of a 2300+ lbs vehicle from 0 mph to 11 mph was insufficient), toyota insisted i hire my own engineers to research.toyota's unwillingness to assist leads me to believe they are only interested in covering up a potential flaw in the srs airbag system utilized in the yaris and potentially other toyota vehicle models.toyota's cavalier regard for the safety of toyota customers potentially places millions of toyota customers at risk of severe injury or even death.

Takata recall we have been waiting over 6 months for a repair on our right side air bag. Because of the danger to a passenger in the right seat we have been unable to use, this vehicle except for driver only use. I feel it is taking way too long for the repair to take place. I don't feel like toyota or the federal government is doing enough to get this repair completed. I live in a tropical climate and my car is six years old both of these conditions should put me on a prioritylist. I would like to hear back from you as to what is being done to help me. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Takata recall: nothing happened to my airbags however i live in south florida and i am worried because in the recall letter it says that "time in service until significant propellant degradation may occur projected at between 6-9years" and i have owned this vehicle 6 years, plus live in one of the hottest part of the country where this year we had record high temperatures. The recall letter states that "the propellant in these inflators may degrade after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity and fluctuating high temperatures". Miami has the most humid and in the highest temperatures in the country.

In the affected vehicles, the springs used for the seat rails on the driver's seat and the seat rails of the front passenger seat of three-door models may break.consequences:if the spring breaks, the seat may not lock in position. In the event of a vehicle crash, the seat could move increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.remedy:toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat rail, and replace it with a new one, if necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedtoyota is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 rav4, 2006-2010 yaris, 2008-2010 highlander, and 2009-2010 tacoma, corolla, corolla matrix and general motors pontiac vibe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the steering column assembly contains electrical connections to the driver's airbag module housed in a spiral cable assembly, which includes a flexible flat cable (ffc). Due to the shape and location of the ffc's retainer, the ffc could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned.consequences:if the ffc is damaged, connectivity to the driver's air bag module could be lost and the air bag deactivated. The failure of the driver's air bag to deploy in the event of a crash that typically necessitates deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver.remedy:toyota will notify the toyota vehicle owners, and general motors will notify the pontiac vibe owners. Toyota sent owners an interim notification letter in may 2014 to advise owners of the recall. Toyota will mail owners a second letter when remedy parts are available. General motors has not yet provided a notification schedule for the pontiac vibe owners. When the parts are available, dealers will replace the spiral cable assembly, free of charge.

Normal drivingoccasionally causes the ignition key, key tumbler and surrounding metal cylinder to become very hot.this is occurring in a brand new 2010 toyota yaris that only has 200+ miles on it.the toyota service department said they can find nothing wrong .it has happened twice in the month that i own the car and did not happen when the car was at the service dept.they said the voltage was within specifications and that it's normal to get a hot ignition key and tumbler.the car was not in the sun .i don't believe it is normal.i'm concerned about a fire starting.i've been driving for many years and have never had this car problem before.

I got in my car, started the engine, immediately i started smelling strong burning smell.than started seeing smoke from the driver door.within few seconds i started seeing flames. Since i was already on the road, i couldn't just stop the car. The flame got bigger and bigger, in the car cabin, it was fill with burning smoke.i tried to roll down the window, it didn't want to work.i has a cup of coffee in the car, i poured it on the flame and it subsided a little.than the flamed started to get bigger again and started melting the interior panel of the door including everything around the inner door handle.i parked as soon as i was able to and took a cloth and tried to wrap around the handle to open the door, but couldn't.it was too hot and flames were burning.so i crawled over the the passenger seat and got out of the car.then went to the outside of driver door and opened the door from outside and took off my shirt and tried to kill the fire.i was parked at a parking lot behind a building at a mall.i reached out for help from the maintenance personnel at the parking lot.they didn't have any tools to help me disengaged the cables from the battery.finally a lady had a bottle of water that kind of eased the flame a little and a man that was walking by got a tool and helped me dis-engage the cable from battery.the interior panel of the door is melted including the window controls.the window is dark from the flame.the whole car smells like burnt smoke.the fire truck, the police came.the head of the security of the building came.i have a police report and what happened was documented.i need to know what to do now. I have pictures to prove the damages.please let me know what i should do next.updatd 07-08-15updated 9/21/2015

My yaris has few miles on it. Last august i tried to start the car by inserting the ignition key and turning it. The starting motor ran, but did not seem to engage the engine. I released the key and the starting motor kept running until i physically turned the key back to the off position. This happened several times between august and december. In december i took the car in for state inspection and asked them to check out the starter. They found nothing, but suggested i should replace the battery, which i had them do. All was well until july 3, 2015 when the same sequence happened again. I tried the starer about 2 hours later and all was well. I feel i can not trust the vehicle to start when i need it.

Traction control prevents car from going up hills in icy conditions and cannot be turned off unless fuse to traction control and antilock brakes is removed.remove the fuse and i can get home!

Decided to look at the 2010 yaris after noticing oil leak in the 2008 yaris.the 2010 had the same leak.had the 2008 head gasket replaced by the dealer.haven't had the head gasket of the 2010 replaced yet.concerned that the head cylinder gaskets are most likely defective.looked at 7 other yaris, 2008's (5 including mine) and 2010's (4 including mine) that had oil and oil residue in the same spot where the oil leaked from the 2008 yaris sedan.the 2008 faulty head gasket was sent to toyota corporation to be inspected for any defects. We've asked (emailed) toyota corporation of japan several times about their findings with the head cylinder gasket removed the 2008 and they have not revealed their findings.

Exterior and interior lighting on brand new yaris randomly malfunction while driving.this has been an ongoing problem but toyota can't find the source of the problem so nothing has been done about it.

All exterior and interior lights turn off on their own. They have done this twice. This is a brand new car that my 18 year old son bought. He drives to college and work and cannot be driving a vehicle that has lights that do not work in the dark. The dealership has looked at the car but cannot find the problem so they are asking us to come back and pick it up. I refuse to let anyone drive this vehicle until it is safe to drive. My son pulled over in each instance and turned the car off and back on and played with the light switch off and on and the lights did come back on. I seems to happen sporadically.

I was driving a 2010 toyota yaris rental car from hertz.the vehicle had difficulty starting, so i jump started it from another vehicle.it ran a bit rough for a few minutes, so i let it warm up.i put it into drive and proceeded to drive home.the car refused to accelerate beyond 1,000 rpm in drive.the maximum speed i was able to achieve was 10 mph (down hill).i shut off the car and started it again (after letting it idle for 10 minutes).the "check engine" light was on, but in park - the car could be revved to 2,000 rpm (max).that is with my foot on the floor.there were no floor mats in the vehicle.i pulled the car over - parked it and called hertz to come pick it up.i am not sure if the yaris is being recalled, but nhtsa should take a look at this model as well.

Transmission slips out of drive when speed reaches 60mph. It slips back in gear when the driver either wiggles the shift lever or when driver shifts into 3rd gear. 2010 toyota yaris.consumer writes in regards to vehicle seats and airbag recall issues.the dealer informed the consumer, the part for the air bag, was not available.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota yaris. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v169000 (seats) and nhtsa campaign number: 14v168000 (air bags). However, the part to perform the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

No incident yet.but a constant steering problem from day 1.steering overly sensitive and needs constant adjustment to drive straight.if adjust too often starts to smoke!can't drive for long because of stress.every touch on the steering wheel moves the steering!brought to toyota to repair twice, two different dealers, but only aligned the tires and adjusted the steering tilt--mechanical non-necessary adjustments but no technical repair.brought to an outside mechanic who said the steering of too loose and needed toyota technical adjustment (after test driving and coming back with a very overpowering smoke smell!).gave up on toyota taking the problem seriously and competently working on my car.just drive it on short trips around town, and though constant swerving in my lane, no accident yet, thank god.will rent a normal-steering car for long trips, will never buy toyota again.would trade this one in but it was a gift and i like everything else about it, except for the unsafe steering especially above 40 mph and the uncomfortable seat that makes long trips out of the question because of resulting backaches.main problem in a nutshell:power-steering overcorrects and too loose; needs constant back and forth adjustment in vain effort to drive straight.thank you for you attention to this serious problem.

Bought vehicle on 3/7/10 while drove vehicle around 30-40 mph the vehicle pulls gradually either side. When direction is corrected ,the vehicle goes on other side, correct it ,goes on other and cycle goes on. Apparent problem may be something with the steering system. The toyota vehicle technician repaired the vehicle for wheel alignment, but the problem is still here. The technician said the vehicle is new,the tire would take time to wear out and vehicle steering would correct itself. Now the mileage is 1000,there is no improvement. I have not driven this in freeway, until today. I scared to drive any more. I can cause accident driving more 40 mph.

The steering in my 2010 toyota yaris. I took the car to the dealer and told them the steering wheel was not centered. I left the car for 3 hours and came back and all they wrote on the paper was the tires were low on air. That was not true i had check that and also let the car get 1450 miles on it so the tires would wear in correct thing that would make the steering wheel centered.then i went back to get the car and it took it for a test ride and it was not right. Then i took a ride with mechanic he knew what i was talking about then they took the car to align the front end and it still was not centered the steering wheel.also when i asked the service manager was the steering wheel centered he said they did the aliment and would say they centered the wheel. This electric steering is not right and handles very bad. Its a new car. This is a problem the day i got the car.

2010 yaris, broken frame after hitting pothole, frame and suspension all rotted out. Even though there is no outside visible rust on any exterior panels.

I found that toyota recalled my car last may 2014 but they did not informed me...updated 10/27/14

Speed control (cruise control) set to 60 mph. After a while i noticed the car car seemed to be going faster than i felt comfortable with and was passing another car. I looked down and saw the speedometer indicating above 87 mph. Disconnected cruise control and regained normal operation. This was such a slow and gradual increase that it was not noticeable for a while. This has happened on this car on several occasions.

We were driving on the highway late in the evening when all of a sudden, the drivers side window imploded.the glass literally crumbled into tiny pieces and fell into the car, front left and rear left side.i contacted the dealership service department, and was told that nothing like this has ever happened before, nobody had ever heard of anything like this.my own google research has proven that this has happened to other people, and perhaps the dealership was being less than honest with me.my fear is that there is a defect and that i, or other people driving this car can be seriously injured or worse.
