(toyota case # [xxx]) - on 7/14/2017, i phoned the toyota phone number listed on the attached document, indicating that my vehicle had a "safety recall" beginning 2009, requiring the "sound insulator ssc (17t0c90c)" to be replaced (see attached letter -to follow). Although they claimed to have replaced it "on 4-8-2009, order # 0913552", i don't recall this to be true because i do not recall ever receiving any mail regarding this issue. I requested representative [xxx], to provide me with such documentation.she then said that the recall time period ended and that i had only 6-12 months to tell them that this replacement was defective. As per the documentation, the driver would not be able to detect this unless checked by the service dept.it was determined on 5-17-2017 to be defective, needing replacement when i brought my car to the dealership for a periodic oil change (see attached document - to follow). I asked [xxx] to have her supervisor review our taped conversation and contact me with the appropriate replacement.it appears that even if they can substantiate that they replaced it back in 2009, my contention that it is illegal for them to pose an arbitrary 6-12 month cut off period for a replacement at no charge to the owner.as of this writing, i did not get a call back or even an e-mail response from toyota. Please intervene on my behalf because a "safety recall" issue must be adhered to by law and if the one put in as a replacement (like the takata airbag recall), then toyota is liable and responsible to replace that defective one too.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I purchased my yaris new in 2007. It now has 107,000 miles on it and the airbag warning light has come on. Dealer is telling me the spiral cable for airbag is shorted and needs repair - which will be about $500+ to fix, to ensure deployment if needed. Looking online i see other yaris owners with this issue, and other toyota vehicles with this same issue, and some recalls. I am very concerned as this is a safety issue and i feel a defect in engineering that should have a recall for yaris also. Toyota responded with an offer to pay $200 to assist in getting it repaired or a special offer to buy another toyota new - i took neither option believing this should be a recall for free repair, not cost me $300 plus.

The airbag light has been lit since last year on my yaris. The dealer says it is the clock spring in the steering wheel and is out of warranty so they are not responsible. I see many complaints on the same item. I count over 25 complaints. The 2007 toyota tacoma had less complaints for the same problem and there has been a recall on it. What does it take to make my car safe?

Takata recalli received a safety recall notice, and contacted burien toyota to have the fix performed. I was told that the airbag was "on back-order" and that i should call back in 5-6 weeks. I do not believe this fix is being performed in a reasonable amount of time. The recall notice calls this an "important safety recall" and says that i should not have passengers in the passenger seat of my car. If the recalled part fails, it can "result in serious injury or death." why is toyota taking 5-6 weeks after sending us the notice to fix this problem? am i supposed to quit driving my car for the next two months while they order a part that they have known for months to be defective? this is irresponsible.

Takata recall.still no safe fix from toyota. I guess our lives are not important to this company.we have no airbag issue at this time.

Takata recall; i received a recall notice on 2-22-17. I called the suburban toyota dealership and received little information. I was told to call back in a month or two and maybe the parts would be available. This recall is several years old . Why am i just now being notified? i. When the recall was first announced i checked to see if my vehicle was on the list and it was not. I received my notification on 2-22-17.it is my understanding that less than 15% of the affected vehicles have been repaired. Imagine my surprise when i discovered that i have been driving a car containing an explosive device that could rupture any time conditions are right. Toyota does not seem to be overly concerned with my safety or anyone else's.

I was driving home from work and i noticed the light came on for my airbag. I checked the manual and it said to bring it in to the service center immediately. I called and made an appointment and i was told the spiral cable was bad. I noticed other people have the same problem so i think this is a part that should be recalled.

He tried to engage the brakes but the vehicle did not stop until it crash into a building. None of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. No one was injured. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle identification number was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 100,000.

Takata recallthe recall was issued on 5/23/16. Today is 9/19/17 and the recall is still incomplete. They have failed to provide a solution to this issue in a timely manner. Sixteen months is a long time to wait...especially when every time you ride as a passenger you run the risk of being severely injured or killed by the defect. We make sure that our children ride in the back, but if the airbag was to deploy and send metal shrapnel flying though the front seat, there is a chance that they could still be injured or killed. This is completely unacceptable. This is our daily form of transportation. I would rather have no airbag than to run the risk of myself, my children or my husband being impaled by metal shrapnel. This needs to be fixed...immediately.

Control of vehicle lost on dirt road. Vehicle rolled over 3x. Landed on roof. No deployment of airbags at all.

I was driving within the city speed limit (30-35 mph) when my abs light came on at night. I live in the south, so it was warm weather. It kept blinking off and on at first but then i noticed it would not go off at all. I looked in my car manual and it indicated that i should take it immediately to my local toyota dealership. I took it on tuesday morning (4/24/12) and paid $45 for a diagnostic. The technician told me there was a bad sensor and i would need to pay about $700 to replace the sensor, and the total cost for parts and labor was $989.05 with tax minus my diagnostic price. I cannot afford this and wonder why they won't fix it because it is a manufacturing problem. I feel they should replace it. After searching on the internet to compare prices, i have discovered that my car is not the only one with this issue, which indicates it is a manufacturing issue.i think something should be done about it.

While driving on the freeway at approximately 55-60 mph traffic came to a sudden stop. I applied the brakes to the 2007 toyota yaris, 4 door and instead of braking normally, the brakes locked, causing the car to slid 30-40 feet, striking the stopped car in front of mine. The impact caused significant front end damage and yet none of the air bags deployed. Fortunately there were no serious injuries, however both the braking system and the airbags failed to work properly. The road conditions were dry and there were no other factors that would have affected the incident.

The contact owned a 2007 toyota yaris. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the contact fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle and crashed into trees. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a compressed spinal fracture and whiplash injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. Last week the airbag safety light came on in my 2007 yaris. According to my mechanic it can be one of four safety issues on the vehicle. Based on the code that came up on the inspection. Since the car is not under warranty this repair would be charged to me. This is clearly a safety issue and or faulty parts and should be a safety recall and not be ignored by toyota. Corporate toyota will only tell me my car is out of warranty and the airbag is only under warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Airbags and seatbelts and faulty parts should be a lifetime warranty on the car. This issue should be under a recall. I'm told the seatbelts and airbags will most likely not work properly as this safety light is on. My mechanic has no idea of the cost of the repair because it can be one of four things including a clock spring in the steering column. Again this is a safety issue and in no way could be impacted by my driving or how the car is maintained. What needs to happen for toyota to create a recall on this issue. How many people need to die or be injured? how do we go about getting this looked at and a recall issued?

Air bag light on, toyota says out of warranty. My car is not an isolated issue, as there are many complaints of the same thing. If the bags won't deploy in an accident, isn't this a safety issue? i think there should be a recall.

I received a safety recall notice regarding the air bags on our toyota yaris and took the vehicle in for repair to toyota of new bern, 5010 highway 70 east, new bern, nc, 252 637 7200.the recall specified a spiral cable replacement. Subsequently, toyota of new bern service said they replaced the cable but that another problem prevented them from repairing the driver's side airbag.the cost to repair this defect would run $1,600, i was told.i called corporate toyota which reiterated that repairs could not be made without payment for repair of a broken wire behind interior trim within the car.i am somewhat at a loss since there is not sign of any damage to interior trim sufficient to break wires behind it.and frankly i have only the word of toyota that they did indeed replace the spiral cable.the driver side airbag remains inoperative until this issue is resolved, a risk to safety and a detriment to any future sale of the vehicle..

Airbag warning light. Diagnostic code 51 suggests spiral cable problem.

The airbag light is stays on and i received a interim recall notice in mail for spiral cable.i took it to the dealership for inspection and they said clock spring is causing the airbag light to stay on. I do not believe them. Both the clock spring and the spiral cable are behind the steering wheel.now they want $500.00 to fix.i believe the dealership is avoiding to fix the recall replacement.

Purchased a 07 toyota yaris on 6/7/2010 certified with 77302 miles on it for my son. Car has had no incidents until 7/25/10 at approx 7:30 - 7:45pm est. Driving conditions were sunny and clear. My son and i have driven on the road many times before as it is very close to the house. When my son was trying to bear right around a turn at the top of the hill while going approx 25-30 mph he could not turn right to stay in his lane. Applied the brakes while the car drove directly into a large tree. There was no way to avoid the tree as the car would not allow him to steer it. The posted speed limit is 40 mph for the general area and 25 mph suggested speed for the curve. Although no airbags deployed, neitherdriver or passenger were injured. Damage to front end and the left quarter panel pushed back into the left door so the hinge is impeded when opening the door. Engine was pushed back on a tilt. The officer said he could not see any other way the accident could have happened as no one would willingly drive directly into a tree on purpose. The car was towed to a local toyota dealership that evening. On 7/26 i spoke to the service manager (sm) as directed by the gm. The sm suggested i speak to toyota via an 800 #. I called, gave details as described above and have a case number. I was assigned a case manager on 7/27 and was promised a regional toyota investigator would look at the car within 10-14 business days. Shortly thereafter i spoke to the collision manager to advise her of the issue and waited for someone to contact me from toyota advising me when the inspection will take place. On 8/13 a rep from toyota's exec. Office contacted me and indicated i would need to sign an edr data readout authorization and consent form. They think the inspection will occur on 8/19 or 8/20. I have requested to videotape the computer screen during the download of edr & ecm data along with it backed up on a usb drive and get a printout and explanation from the inspector.

Takata recalli have been unable to use the front passenger seat of my car since early summer. I have sent your agency a complaint and have called toyota several times. At what point does your agency insist that the manufacturer repair or replace the vehicle. Waiting for over 1/2 year while driving partially functioning car is unacceptable.

The reason i decided to send this report is because i have seen this problem with the same type of vehicle before, i own a driving school with 4 toyota yaris from 2007-2009 and had a problem with a burn smell and smoke coming out from the power switch, we turn the car off and when we took the door panel apart we notice the power switch had burn. We purchase another power switch thinking that we did not wanted the car catch a fire. Now about 2 weeks ago we experience the same issue with another yaris. And this time the fire was a bit bigger than before. Since we had to take the disconnect the power switch and blow the fire out ourselves. This problem could have been worst since the power switch is sitting on a type of foam that if it catches fire it will easy spread and hurt someone. If i could please get some information if toyota will be recalling this issue.i do not want to spend another $200 for a new power switch. Thank you

In approximately may 2015 i replaced the hub on the right rear wheel. After the item was replaced and abs sensor reattached i have had the issue of abs and emergency brake light on continually on the dash upon startup, they never go off!!! needless to say i have lost abs since that time. I have had the diagnostics checked and there were three abs relay sensor warning faults, front right, and both back wheels. Since then i have replaced all the wiring harnesses for the three wheels. The diagnostic shows no abs relay faults. The abs and emergency brake light still incessantly stay lit on the dash. I have also tried to reset the internal computer by removing the negative terminal on the battery. I am in the military and have read many issues and faults regarding this abs issue, and it would be very expensive for toyota or a mechanic to try and fix this issue, that i have seen occurring on many toyotas across the usa. That's why i have tried to resolve the issue on my own. Now i am pcs'ing to my next duty station, yet if i don't get the dashboard lights to turn off i may not be able to ship the car.

Water drain for a/c system condenser clogged. Has happened every summer since purchase in 2007. Water fills the drain, and gets trapped within the unit leading to an overflow onto the blower and blower motor shorting the relays. Fuses are blown, and the blower motor needs replacing. It has happened several times. A mold buildup also occurs in carpeting leading to a health hazard.

I was driving home from work and i noticed the light came on for my airbag. I checked the manual and it said to bring it in to the service center immediately. I called and made an appointment and i was told the spiral cable was bad. I noticed other people have the same problem so i think this is a part that should be recalled.

On the toyota yaris 2007 the accelerator sensor assembly is made of plastic. As i would go around cornersthe car would not accelerate even if i pushed the pedal all the way down. The car would become a virtual slug then accelerate quickly. Because of the poor design the electric connections cannot make good contact going around corners, up hill or from a dead stop.this almost caused me to be hit several times. I took it in to be repaired ($215.95) yet being of plastic it can happen again. This defect has caused some to believe the car is accelerating by itself when in reality its simply stalling (bad connection) then kicking in to accelerate -

The airbag light is on all the time and seat belt light flashes not stopping.

Any day, any weather, any road conditions. The road could be as dry as a bone. When i drive around a curve (it doesn't matter if i'm driving 45 mph, or 15 mph), the break pedal will engage on it's own, the steering wheel will lock, and a beeping alarm will go off. I have no control of the van. It will put me into oncoming traffic. Everyday. Everyday. Any time i drive this van. Multiple times a day for the last 15 months. Lots of $, and lots of trips to dealer and car repair shops. Can't figure out what is causing the problem, but it's a major problem.we tried new tires, changing wheel sensors, new brakes, adding fluid to steering wheel column, new axels... And the list goes on.nothing fixes the problem. I've read a lot of similar stories on the internet. Lots pf people, same problem, and nothing is fixing the problem on anyone's van. There isn't a solution to a major problem.

Exhaust is extremely loud on yaris during acceleration and causes the interior cabin to smell. I had a friend look at the exhaust for a leak and all he could find is a shredded gasket. The exhaust was in excellent shape and showed no damage or corrosion.internet searches have revealed that the gasket on the 07 yaris is poorly designed and several people are affected by this.

It was still making an odd sound so i poured some more water on it and it started smoking again.

I was driving my 2007 toyota yaris on march 30,2010 around 1600 hrs and the accelerator stuck in the full throttle position and caused a collison after the brakes failed to hold the vehicle back for approx 200 feet down the road. When a good samaritan stopped the accelerator was still stuck full throttle and caused the vehicle to skid off the roadway into a ditch where it traveled down the ditch coming to rest against a large boulder. I sustained a concussion and knee and hip pain associated with the impact. Accelerator on 2007 yaris is sensitive at lower rpms making it difficult to start off in first gear causing a potential safety issue when starting off on a hill or steep grade. Was told by both the dealership and toyota that there is nothing they can do, it's a design issue.the dealer did mention that they had received other complaints regarding the sensitivity of the accelerator.i've owned manual transmissions my entire life and although you expect differences in accelerator and clutch combinations, this is the worst i've ever owned.

My toyota yaris 2007 sedan is jerking . I took it for a service at toyota two weeks back but it still does the same. They changed the petrol filter. The jerking never went away. The dealer then changed the petrol pump and the jerking is still there, it comes and goes. But it shakes so hard i can not take it. The toyota dealer does not know what is wrong with the car. They keep test driving it and i am afraid by the time they finish if they ever find the problem the car will be due for another service. So far i don't have wheels while they keep my car.

Toyota motor corp. Has confirmed to me that the 2007 manual-transmission toyota yaris engine has insufficient compression to hold the car on an incline when the engine is off and the transmission is in first gear.i experience a continual bumping-back on a slight hill. (i discovered this only when i hadn't set the parking brake because i was sitting in the car.)i've driven stick-shifts all my life and every independent mechanic i've shown this to has agreed that it is a tragedy waiting to happen. Several noted that it is called "reverse dieseling".problem #1: consumers are not being informed of this situation.i'd never have purchased the car if i'd known.solution: a letter must be sent to all yaris owners immediately, informing them of this. Problem #2: at the bare minimum, why is there no warning system which is activated when the parking brake is not set? an automatic transmission when turned off will not release the key when not in park. Solution: at the very least toyota must retrofit the cars with an audio/visual signal when the parking brake is not set. Upcoming models must include a quality safeguard. Problem #3: page 129 of the owner's manual mildly states,"when parking, firmly apply the parking brake to avoid inadvertent creeping."please note that the identical verbiage is used in the manual for both types of transmission. Solution: obvious. Problem# 4: parking brakes are notoriously unreliable for many reasons. Ideal solution: engine should be re-engineered with sufficient compression.updated 10/11/07

This vehicle with an automatic transmission, by design, as i have been told by a toyota technician, will not upshift until the vehicle has warmed completely.this is not only a hazard in traffic and is torture on the engine, but it is a hazard when one needs to use this vehicle in an emergency situation.for instance some one needs to be transported to the hospital immediately.with this vehicle you are required to wait until it warms up before one is able to transport.there are many other situations which could be presented, but i am sure that anyone who reads this document wi8ll understand the issue.toyota needs to recall and design the vehicle to change gears if the computer determines that the driver is determined to drive the vehicle contrary to its programmed drive pattern. I notice that the document cl-10283172-6703 has proclaimed the same problem.as reported there, the colder the temperature the longer it takes for the vehicle to warm up.this warm up period is much longer than the average warming time for a vehicle. This is a critical issue for this vehicle and any others that have the same warming requirements. If one was required to drive the vehicle in a manner inconsistent with its prescribed procedures, it appears that a blown engine would probably be the result.this is not good because toyota would not warranty the problem although they caused. Thank you for you consideration of this issue

2007 toyota yaris has transmission problem. *njthe consumer stated he had to allow the vehicle to warm up, before he could change gears properly. In the winter time, it was worse. There were times when the transmission gears would not engage at all. The vehicle also pulled to the right/left while driving. The vehicle also vibrated. The dealer could not find anything wrong with the vehicle.

Rear axle corrosion caused the rear driver's side wheel to fall off. Thankfully this happened just as the vehicle was being parked. The entire rear axle assembly needed to be replaced. Vehicle repaired by l&m auto of east otis, ma 01029

I've had my 2007 toyota yaris for about a year now, in the mornings when the car is cold the transmission doesn't shift properly, when the weather is cold its worse, the other problems is that the car wobbles when im driving slow, an when i drive faster it starts to shakes, an when i run the ac the engine shakes real bad,the dealership when i bought the car is giving me the run around.

Acceleration between 20-45 miles per hour was "jumpy" and "un smooth" on a brand new 2007 automatic sedan toyota yaris. This starteda week after a routine oil change and inspection was done. The car was bought with 11 miles on it and by 6,400 it needed a new transmission. I can't believe i had a brand new car for less than three months and it had a faulty transmission. I smell lemons.

The vehicle does not shift correctly when going from 10 to 45 mph. The automatic transmission will not shift correctly to the next gear. It seems to happen more when it is just starting off in the morning rather than after it warms up.

Every morning winter or summer, i have to wait for my car to warm up in order to drive it up the road if i want to go more than 25 mph.the transmission does not want to go out of first gear until the car is at a certain temp.i can't go up a road that is 35-45 mph if i just started my car, otherwise there would be alot of upset people behind me because i can't go fast until the car warms up.the dealer tells me that is common for any toyota car as they make them that way to ensure they last as long as they do.you should never just get in your car and go.it needs to warm up and get fluids to the proper temperature.is this a crock because i see other complaints and no one has mentioned that the dealer says this car should act this way and this is normal?

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. Whiledriving 70 mph the contact noticed that the clutch was becoming harder to shift gears. Moments later, the contact stated that the clutch pedal had fallen to the bottom of the floor. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic; where the contact was informed that the pivot ball had broken and the entire clutch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired when the complaint was filed. There were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 82000.

I was sitting at a red light when my 2007 toyota yaris was rammed from behind in a rear end collision.i sustained several injuries. My air bag didn't deploy, but the air bag light came on.in addition, the seatbelts didn't work either.i suffered a comminuted fracture to my left distal clavicle, fractured l1 transverse process, and i'm having surgery to fix the problems that were caused from my face hitting the steering wheel.this happened on oct 20, 2015 and i just found out this is a common problem with 2007 toyota yaris'.i can provide addition information is needed.

Seat belt light came "on" while seat belt was fastened.mechanic told me today that the diagnostic code told him that the clockspring assembly needed to be replaced - and unless i spent $489+ to fix it that neither the airbag nor seat belts would work - so it was mandatory to fix it!!the consumer stated the mechanic discovered broken wires in the clockspring assembly. The consumer stated he suffered a financial loss of almost $500 for the repair.

The airbag light is on all the time and seat belt light flashes not stopping.

Good afternooni have a 2007 toyota yaris with around 108,000 miles.i made an appt with a local dealer to go thru 3 recalls in my car and additionally to check on my rear-driver seatbelt which is not retracting (it failed on 6-26-16) . I have read various forums stating that various owners of my model car have had the same issue. The dealer finished the 3 recalled issues. The issue with the rear seatbelt was related to a ball bearing in the system that was not allowing for the seatbelt to recoil. The dealer wanted around $350 to fix the issue. I think this is a safety issue the car is not new but an item that is needed for safety should not go bad within a fairly long timeline, it should at least outlast the car. I have read various forums with people complaining on this same problem. How can this not be a problem related to quality and safety of the equipment toyota sells? additional note: the dealer refused to fix my car's airbag (takata recall) because they did not have the parts yet.thank you [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Icontacted toyota hawaii during the first week of february and was told there has not been any fix for the problem and that i should wait and call back in a while. I would think that the serious nature of this recall would get faster action by the manufacture. Just wanted to know from you if this seems like reasonable thinking.

Vehicle parked, seat belt will not retract, will stay out until i feed it back to the slot. I have a couple of years with this problem hoping that there was going to be a recall. Plese help, i don't feel safe. Sometimes the seat belt gets caught on the door since it will not retract.

The driver seat belt does not retract. When buckled up, this is really hard (and it takes at least 30 seconds) to unfasten the driver seat belt. I'm scared to be trapped inside in case of an accident. It happens all the time, no matter where i drive, if the car is in motion or not. I noticed the problem 1 year ago. When looking on internet, i see this is a really common problem.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris.while driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions, the front driver's side shoulder belt jerked continuously.the seat belt buckle disengaged without assistance and the contact made two attempts before the buckle engaged properly.the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 25,000.

I have a 2007 yaris with a faulty center pillar sound insulator due to the safety recall notice. My local dealership(classic toyota of round rock, texas) refuses to service my toyota vehicles, stemming back from an incident in which i was overcharged $750 on a 2008 scion xb last year.they have told me to 'take my car elsewhere for repairs"..but this is not a "repair" due to wear and tear..it's a safety recall.i have been in contact with the customer relations manager, and she is unwilling to process my safety recall work.i feel as if i'm being cheated out of the guaranteed warranty i purchased with my new vehicle, and they are intentionally risking my safety by not fixing a dangerous recall (seat belt tensioner).coincidentally, the seatbelt already failed to work properly when my car was struck by a small truck directly in the driver's door...if the seatbelt was correctly working i would likely have suffered less damage to my shoulders and neck.my next step will be to report this to the local police and file a complaint with the better business bureau. Though, i hope y'all will assist on fixing my recall. Thank you.

Rear leftseat belt became so tight under normal driving conditions we were unable to release my child. She was under a great deal of pain and the seat belt had to be cut.apx a week later she became stuck in the same manner in the right seat belt and was able to release the seat belt to release her

Takata recallreceived interim notice, but did not receive any remedy notification later.just received auto airbag settlement notice today.called local dealer to follow the notice of getting the airbag replaced asap, and they said they had nobody there to operate the computer to verify my car was under the recall & call back another day.how come i could verify the same day on my phone & the dealer could not?now, i need to take my wife to the hospital & will not be able to contact the dealer until later.so two complaints; no remedy notification & delay by the local dealer.

The abs sensor is notoriously bad, and i had to stop suddenly and went into a four wheel slide becausethe abs stopped working.this needs a recall.

There is a well-known defect on toyota yaris models (usa model years 2007 to present) that occasionally in cold, snowy weather, the rear abs connector will have debris 'gunk up' the connection, disabling the abs - obviously a very huge safety issue in the winter.there are many well-documented situations of this and threads on yarisworld.com dating from 2008 until today (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11533).the fix appears to be straightforward and inexpensive; however toyota has not issued a recall for this, has no permanent fix for the issue, and will not even complete the temporary fix for owners.this is unacceptable as the safety risk is large.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 4. Jft

Abs and brake sensors are faulty. Abs not working.

As i was driving this past winter the abs required maintenance and parking brake came illuminated at the same time. I thought it might have been a frozen connector since the winter has been very cold and bad this year.the speed sensor pig tail and the rear wheel bearing went out. This part was coroded and full of dirt and grime. Even the wires were disengrated. This has happened to other yaris owners to that i have read on here.this should be a recall. Aproximate cost of fixing this problem is 600.00.

Drove car to train station during snow storm.vehicle sat parked all day.cleaned off snow that evening and began drive home.several minutes into trip both abs and brake lights illuminated.checked parking brake and found to be not engaged.pumped brakes and appeared normal operation.later checked brake fluid and again appeared normal level.both lights stayed constantly illuminated for three days.currently both lights collectively alternate between on and off during vehicle operation.

Brake and abs lights on and toyota knew this was caused by speed sensor corrosion. Which disabled the abs system.called the dealer but they asked me to call toyota. I called toyota, they said problems were not the defect and refused to provide any solutions, asked me to dealer for repair.the toyota case number is[xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The abs light would start coming on from time to time.it would stay on for days at a time (during which time i had no abs), then go off for no reason.the brake pedal started to shudder and vibrate whether or not i was touching it. If it happened to be vibrating while i was actually braking, brake power would be heavily reduced.this has caused me to have to swerve out of the way several times so i don't rear-end someone. This has happened every winter since 2009, and has not gone off since last winter (2011/2012).many other yaris owners have complained of this same problem happening.many attribute it to one or both of the rear wheel sensors.some have had this replaced for many hundreds of dollars by toyota; while it fixes the problem for a while, the new sensor becomes faulty within a couple of years (absurdly short amount of time).i believe this is due to water infiltrating the speed sensor.a recall should be made to replace the rear wheel sensors with ones that have better water protection.toyota has since redesigned the rear wheel sensors on the new yaris, but fails to offer a recall on the many thousands of dangerous yaris' on the road.

One week ago my abs and brake light came on shortly after i had turned the car on. The light comes on and goes off at random intervals. On three occasions in the past two days, the brakes have vibrated and triggered the abs when i have pressed.upon researching further, i have found numerous complaints on this website and several online forums that cite this same issue with the 2007 toyota yaris.

The abs sensors on both back tires failed spontaneously (determined upon obd code reading from service station) resulting in the dashboard 'brake' and 'abs' lights illuminating intermittently. Since this spontaneous failure abs would activate at inappropriate times and at other times fail to activate when it should have. This created a major potential safety issue.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact applied the brake pedal repeatedly and there was an extreme delayed response. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four times for the failure and on each occasion, a lube application was applied to the rear brakes. Additionally, the parking brake would not function upon engaging. The failure persisted and the vehiclehad not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage 75,000.

The contact owned a 2007 toyota yaris. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes failed and the steering locked. As a result, the contact crashed the vehicle into the rear of the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained burns on the chest, a cut on the lip, and a bruised right arm and leg. Medical attention was received. A police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v169000 (seats). The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Both the parking brake and anti-lock brake system [abs] indicator lights illuminated while driving and with the parking brake not engaged.the lights remained illuminated.upon inspection of the rear skid control sensor and skid control sensor wire [part of the abs], ifound both the passenger and driver's side assemblies to be very wet and dirty with mud both inside and outside the electrical connector between the wire and the sensor itself on the hub assembly.on the driver's side, the electrical connector pins were badly corroded.so much so, in fact, that one of the pins was broken and partially disintegrated.with the connection being corroded and broken, the abs will not function.the electrical connectors for the skid control sensor are not protected by any sort of guard or boot, they're just regular, plastic-housing connectors with no waterproofing, yet they're in a location on the vehicle which is very much exposed to rain, snow, mud, etc. During normal driving conditions.the connectors are very vulnerable to corrosion and damage from the elements being exposed in this way and their premature failure due to this exposure causes a loss of a safety feature of the vehicle, the abs.

My abs and brake warning lights came on at the same time on my 2007 yaris sedan. The manual states to contact the dealer immediately in this situation. The abs is disabled in this situation. The problem was a left rear wheel speed sensor shorted (code p0215). Due to excessive corrosion on the connection the wiring harness was also replaced. The replaced parts were 89544-02070 (sensor, skid control) and 89516-52100 (wire, skid control). The amount of corrosion on the sensor and connecting wires on the yaris point to a potential design issue. As it turns out this is a common problem on 2007 and 2008 yaris's.toyota has issued a tbs, thus they are aware of the problem.the problem appears to develop when the cars are driven in winter conditions..i.e. Snow...as was the case with mine yaris.other owners have had abs systems operate improperly as a result and experienced braking problems.

Thirteen months have passed and now i have a failure of the left rear wheel speed sensor to match the failed right rear wheel speed sensor that was replaced. The repair action will be to replace the sensor and wiring harness. Due to excessive corrosion, the dealer is recommending replacement of both the left and right rear wheel speed sensor wiring. This will be the third rear wheel speed sensor failure on two yaris that i have had to deal with in 14 months. The cold weather and salt used on the roads during a snowy winter appear to wreak havoc on the connection between the wiring harness and the rear wheel speed sensors on the yaris sedans. A little internet research will lead you to the conclusion that this is a very common problem in canada or anywhere where salt is used on the roads in winter. Since this problem does not present itself on the corolla in the same way, then there must be a design issue on the yaris. A proper water/weather tight connection between the wiring harness and the rear wheel speed sensors would solve this issue. This is a safety issue as the intermittent connection causes erratic operation (if any) of the abs on these models. I believe there is a tsb released on this subject, but no recall. Consumers (me) are footing the bill for this defect. Three times and counting.

Abs malfunction on my 2007 toyota yaris.

This is more for info than a complaint.my brake service light and abs service stays on my 2007 toyota yaris.with all the toyota recalls this model is not on the recall list.i took it to my dealer to get repaired.they analyzed the problem and said a wire going to my brake had shorted out and causing the problem.i was told it was ok to drive and use the brakes.they had to order the parts to repair in a couple of days.i thought that i would let you know of my problem which may not be related at all with the other toyota recall problems, but i don't really know.

I own a 2007 toyota yaris, purchased august 2006.the brake and abs indicator lights starting coming on intermittently in december 2009 (often when it was raining or snowing outside),my dealer said that this was caused by an issue with the right rear speed sensor, and shouldn't indicate any actual problems with the brakes.however, soon afterward (january 2010), i started experiencing brake problems---the brake pedal would shudder or vibrate occasionally, even when i was driving on a smooth surface at low speeds.even pumping the breaks, i had trouble stopping and slid through a stop sign more than once.my dealer said this indicated that the abs was kicking in when it shouldn't, and recommended a $600 replacement of the right rear speed sensor.i got this repair done, and the problem seems to be solved.

My abs and brake lights came on at the same time on my 2007 yaris sedan. The manual states to stop driving the car and contact the dealer immediately. The car is a daily commute car with 75,000 miles at the time.the problem was an internal failure of the right rear wheel speed sensor. The dealer replaced the sensor (part number 42450-52060 / hub & brg assy r), and cleaned corrosion from the wiring harness where it connects to the speed sensor. The total repair cost was over $650.the amount of corrosion on a car just over 2 years old on the rear abs wheel speed sensors shows a potential design flaw in this part and how it is attached on the yaris vehicle line. This failure disables the abs system and causes erratic operation. On one occasion on the way to the dealer while the abs light was off i had a brake anomaly. I applied the brakes at a parking lot stop sign at slow speed (~5mph) and the abs kicked in and i couldn't stop. The weather and street was dry. It took more than 25ft to stop! the corrosion at this connection is causing intermittent operation of the abs system which is a safety concern.

A bad connector leading to the abs speed sensor failed on our toyota yaris causing two warning lights to come on.owners manual states to "stop immediately and contact toyota dealer".abs speed sensor was replaced at a cost of over $500 but in fact the problem is a corroded connector.toyota and dealer stated that a technical serivce bulletin was issued regarding this problem.i was then told that because a "connector" not a "module" failed this problem in not subject to a recall.however, since manual says to "stop immediately" which freaked out my wife this clearly is a safety problem.also, it should not take $500 to replace a faulty connector.i found a chat-room online where it became clear that many others are having this problem.

2007 toyota yaris -- abs and brake issue (defective speed sensors)this appears to be a common problem, and unfortunately, my vehicle is also affected.this is mentioned in toyota service bulletin tsb-0120-08, but toyota is unwilling to fix my defective speed sensors without charging ~$700.

The brake caliper on one side of this car at the front malfunctions, causing an uneven wear on the brake pad at an abnormal rate........and just recently a few days ago the same problem........the consumer stated this is the second time in several months the problem has happened. Updated 06/23/10.

My 2007 toyota yaris sedan; when i apply brakes to slow down while at high speed on rough roads,i can feel like the sensation of no intention of car to stop,i feel the brake pads in front or rear brake shoes like in a jerking motion,i feel the motion in the brake pedal,i visually inspect brake wear often because of this, brake shoes lining are very thin normally by factory, i even bought new brake shoes and did not installed them because there was not much difference between old and new linings, aside from that i am content with yaris ,i am 60 yrs old, driving since i was 19,drove commercially in the past, could there be a problem with the brake system of 2007 yaris,i never felt such sensation in brake pedals while slowing down at high speed on rough roads while drivingany vehicle, could you look into that? i don't know perhaps is nothing, sometimes i say lord i hope i never have to make a sudden stop at high speed to realize that there was a problem with the brake system, while driving i always keep that in mind.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited an abnormal grinding when he would apply pressure to the brakes. He then noticed that the driver side e lower front control arm bolt was corroded and had fractured from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they performed a diagnostic test and informed the contact that the sub frame would need to be dropped and the control arm bolt would need to be replaced. The manufacturer informed the contact that because the vehicle was not under warranty they could not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 60,000 and the failure mileage was 59,000.

Defective design on vehicle's abs harness/connectors causes it to become inoperative after corrosion sets in, mine happened after 2 years and around 68k miles.replacement of harness and connectors is only a short term fix, according to the forums on www.yarisworls.com (see http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11533&highlight=abs).

I have a 2007 toyota yaris sedan, with 71,000 miles on it.the abs and brake light come on for times up to 2 days before going out.toyota released a tsb in june of 2008, acknowledging the problem, to correct the problem but failed to do anything unless the customer complained.the problem is corrosion of the contact points of the rear wheel speed sensors and wiring harness in northern weather areas where we use salt.the cost to the consumer is approximately $400.00 per side to fix it if it happens after the 3 yr. 36,000 mile warranty.i think this unacceptable.i called toyota and basally got hung up on.can you look into this problem.our northern customers in canada are also experiencing this problem.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated that the abs wheel sensor and wiring harness failed. The abs warning light flickered on and off and the abs would not function properly. Whenever the abs disabled itself, there was a loud noise from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that they would have to replace the rear wheel sensors and wiring harness. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

In december 2010, our '07 yaris' abs light started to turn on intermittently. As days passed, it remained on longer and longer until it just stayed on all the time. Would have lived with no abs except for the fact that we had a newborn on the way. Also, the brake system sporadically shuttered and malfunctioned oddly under normal driving conditions. So we bit the bullet and got it fixed in may 2011. Turns out, the right rear speed sensor malfunctioned due to water infiltration. This is a well known issue and discussed in posts all over the internet. Our yaris is a commuter car and has never been in water other than what lays on the highway while we drive in rain and snow. It is only a matter of time until the left side goes. We couldn't afford the $800 fix the first time around, but we managed. But we sure won't have the money for the next fix. It just isn't right. My argument is simple: a speed sensor is not an item that should wear out and malfunction in three years.what's more, toyota has since redesigned this assembly-what i take as their admission of responsibility for the faulty design of this critical abs component. How many other yaris owners are out there right now who can't afford this expensive fix. Their brake systems working improperly? they do so not just because of a failed part design by toyota, but more so because toyota willingly chooses to ignore this widespread problem, refusing to take the responsible action of initiating a recall of this vital safety component. Sadly, it will likely take serious injury or death and the subsequent lawsuit before someone at toyota cares to take notice. I tried numerous times to speak with toyota (local dealer and corporate), but they offered no recourse other than to file my complaint. The light of "brake" and "abs" on together when driving in winter. The car is only 50k miles. This is the first time to drive in a little bit snow. The abs was never used before. I saw a lot of people with this car faced the same problem when driving in winter even with a much lower mileage.it is too dangerouswhen the break system shows problem.

Been driving a 2007 yaris since july 2006 - no problems, now have 51,200 miles on it. On a completely dry and flat road on 4/9/10, i was approaching a yellow light at appx. 40 mph and began braking.right before the light, as i hit a little bump (uneven pavement section where it changed from bridge surface to blacktop) the engine surged -- i felt it, saw the rpm needle go up and heard the engine rev.i had my foot on the brake the whole time.had to push the brake very hard to get car to stop.no repairs / inspections yet - not looking forward to a dealership telling me they cannot duplicate the incident.sounds like the 2010 prius brake recall issue to me . . .

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph, on icy road conditions. When the brake pedal was engaged there was no power response. The vehicle was able to slow down after several attempts. The identical failure occurred on three separate occasions. Also, the failure occurred while traveling on normal road conditions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The brakes were cleaned. The technician stated that the brakes functioned normally. The failure mileage was 33,000. The current mileage was 34000.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated while driving at various speeds the anti-lock brake and emergency brake lights would illuminate on the instrument panel. Once the contact engaged the brakes he would hear a moaning noise and intermittently experience an increased stopping distance. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three occasions in which the contact was informed the anti-lock brake sensor needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired but the failure continued. The failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 67,000. The vin was unavailable.

Going 35 mph south on paved road, it had just started raining, i slowed down to due to deer in the road, instead of slowing down, my car when into a complete 180 spin, had no control, the anitlock brakes did not kick in, my air bags did not deploy. I feel that my car should have responded more effectively, to me pumping the brakes, but instead, i landed in the ditch.car was just reported to me as a total loss.

2007 toyota yarisoff and on i have been having braking issues. When i press on the brake it almost has an effect of the anti-lock braking system kicking in. Yet the effect is more pronounced. It feels as if i am skidding or jerking to a stop and makes me fear that i will not stop. Are there any open campaigns for this? this is a safety issue and i need to get it resolved.i have also sent an e-mail to toyota.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated that the antilock brakes failed while driving approximately 10 mph in inclement weather. When the brakes were applied there was a loud noise and the brakes would not stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and tested; yet, they stated that there was no failure. The failure mileage was 27,300.

I was told the same as so many others:"your warranty is expired. Sorry, we can't help you."i am hopeful nhtsa will.

The brake caliper on one side of this car at the front malfunctions, causing an uneven wear on the brake pad at an abnormal rate........and just recently a few days ago the same problem........the consumer stated this is the second time in several months the problem has happened. Updated 06/23/10.

On thursday, september 19, 2013, while turning my steering wheel and attempting to park my 2007 toyota yaris i heard a loud crack. I knew something was definitely wrong and quickly realized that a connection between the steering column and the wheel had broken as the steering piece was no longer turning the wheels. In fact, the steering piece just spun around 360 degrees. I left my car in park and called a friend who really knows cars. Upon examining the car, he immediately said that something was seriously wrong with that toyota part and it never should have broken especially because the part is covered by a protective boot and is not located in the front of the car. If i had been on the highway, i could have died. I brought it to the dealership, but because the part is not yet on the recall list and my car had over 60,000 they told me that i would have to pay nearly $2,000 for the repair. I believe that this is a problem with a toyota part that should be added to the recall list and i should not have to pay for the replacement of the part.

The airbag did not deploy even though i hit the fence beside the window.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. While driving 65mph, the vehicle jerked and constantly pulled to the left and the right. The manufacturer and the dealer were unable to diagnose the failure.the current mileage was 29,687 and failure mileage was 975.

While driving at highway speeds, steering stick when trying to make slight steering corrections. This has gotten bad enough to where vehicle makes lane changes when just trying to make slight correction. Have had the vehicle checked several times, the acceleration sensor has been relearned three separate times with little or no change. This is very annoying and dangerous.

While driving at around 60 to 70 mph the vehicle constantly pulls to the right and to the left. I took the car to the toyota dealer and the toyota dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. Current mileage of this toyota yaris is 21,755.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris.whenever the contact turns the steering wheel to the left or right, she hears a loud grinding sound coming from the steering column.the failure was noticed while driving 15 mph.she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the intermediate shaft failed and was a very common issue with the vehicle.the contact was informed that since the vehicle was out of warranty, she would be responsible for the repairs.the manufacturer was aware of the failure, but stated that there was no recall.the contact believes that the manufacturer should be responsible and that a recall should be issued.the failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 55,000.

Every time i use the air conditioning, the front passenger carpet gets soaked.i have pulled up the carpeting and cleaned out the drain tube and tried everything else so many other owners have tried.this is a design flaw and almost every unpainted surface in the car has rust on it.the mold smell is terrible.this is a very bad situation.in south central indiana, we need air conditioning for a very long period.please help us.

Passenger side of vehicle has a leak when the air conditioner is used. Took to the dealer and was charged approximately $200 to fix said problem. Less than a month later the issue is happening again. Seems to be more than one issue of this occuring.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated he heard a noise while driving various speeds over bumpy road surfaces. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the front cradle bolt on the passenger side was severed. The contact was also told the driver's side cradle bolt was corroding and the vehicle was not safe to drive. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 43,000 and the current mileage was 43,500.updated 6/8/11 updated 06/13/11

During rolling bumper to bumper traffic, heard a loud pop from the front end.afterwards the front end kept making a odd grind sound when i put on the brakes or went over a slight bump.took some time to figure out that one of the bolts that holds the passenger side a-arm was gone, looks like the bolt head just shearedoff so now all the weight that was carried by 3 bolts is being managed by 2.i had just got off the highway too, glad that did not pop at 65 mph.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to magic toyota (21000 hwy 99, lynnwood, wa 98036, (425) 775-4422) to be repaired per nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v340000 (air bags), 14v168000 (air bags), and 14v169000 (seats). The contact stated that there was extreme mold in the vehicle, which made it unable to be driven. The contact stated that water entered the vehicle and soaked all the seats, carpeting, and seat belts. The contact stated that the carpet and fabric in the vehicle had excessive mold. The contact stated that there was water even in the air conditioning and heating vents. While at the dealer, the contact requested that the mechanic check for the entry points of the water, but the dealer declined the contact was informed that the recall repairs could not be completed until the mold was removed from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 1802021186. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

The trunk of the vehicle does not stay open on its own , there are no springs or any device to keep it open especially if the car is on a incline. Myself ,my parents and boyfriend have been hit in the back of the head by the trunk lid. Very painful. Did question the dealership about it and was told that was how the car was made.

I was driving my 2007 toyota yaris sedan along i-75 northbound towards atlanta when all of a sudden my driver's side door window just exploded for no reason.the shattered glass blew out all over the inside of the passenger cabin.there was no external force that caused the glass to shatter (it simply exploded spontaneously).

The airbag did not deploy even though i hit the fence beside the window.

On 16 august, 2013, while turning into a garage parking spot i took my foot off the accelerator to press on the brake to come to full stop before the concrete column at the end of the parking space when, of its own accord, the car suddenly lurched forward at much accelerated speed.the car crashed into the concrete column destroying the front left head lights, entire front grill work, and the frame of the driver's side door was bent so the door would not be opened.no airbags deployed.on 20 august, 2013 my insurance company deemed the car a total loss.

I [xxx] purchased a 2007 toyota from moss brother toyota that have a defective trunk part that allow the trunk door to coming down on your head when opened. Several times that car trunk have came down hitting me in the head. This was reported to the cardealership and to the manufacture rep. And in april 2010 the rep met with the dealership and ordered it to be corrected.we took the car in to be fixed but the problem was not fixed. Since that time, on several occasion, this trunk has come down smashing me and my husband in the head. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Trunk lost its ability to remain open and unexpectedly came closed and hit me in the head the first time, the forehead the second time. Very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota yaris.the contact stated that the trunk would loose stability while open, causing the trunk to slam shut at any time.the contact and a passenger were injured on more than one occasion as a result of the trunk slamming shut.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 1 and the current mileage was 81,000. I own a 2007 toyota yarisit has approx 122k miles (mostly highway) and recently while getting my front tires replaced my mechanic pointed out to me that the "rear lower control arm and cradle bolts were rusted off). As an engineer i recognize this as either a design flaw or a manufactiring escape. Reguardless of the milage a critical structural component should not rust away in 4 years. Since the surrounding bolts are all good its pretty obvoious that the bolt material toyota used on my car was the problem. Sadly when i brought my car to the dealer (lynch toyota , manchester ct) i was not recieve the respect and consideration i beleive one whoi has a valid quality complaint to recieve, instead (even though my mech explained the issue to them 6 days prior to my appointment) i was told it would be several days before they had a part to fix the car , it was unsafe to drive and that by the way it will be at least $400 dollars to fix. This isn't some old lady who can't tell the difference between the gas pedal & the brake. Thsi si a major strucutal compont that just rusted away in 4 years! its an unsafe condition and it should be rectified befor someone gets killed.

I brought my 2007 toyota yaris into the dealership to get the brakes looked at as i was hearing a clunking noise going over uneven roads at slow speeds and i was feeling a sticking with the brakes. The dealership notified me that the brakes were fine but that a bolt in the front cross arm of the suspension had rusted and broken off. I was told that this was a design flaw in the 2007-2011 yaris and that there was a technical service bulletin that advised on replacing the whole crossmember with a new design. The warranty only covered the car up to 3 years or 36000 miles but my car is 3.5 years and 53000 miles. The cost of the parts and repair was over $2500 and since it was a safety concern i was not allowed to drive the car without fixing it. The dealership contacted toyota, who then agreed to pay for the parts. I was still responsible for paying the $848 in labor to repair something that toyota had designed incorrectly. I had to pay the bill in order to get my car out but the dealership encouraged me to continue to contact toyota directly as they agreed that this was an issue that toyota should resolve. I contacted toyota usa and was told that they "technically" didn't have to do anything since it's not a recall and that because they already paid for the parts, that was the same as me "agreeing" that they did not have to pay for the labor. Toyota should be responsible for fixing problems associated with a design flaw in a major structural element of the car. A bolt shouldn't rust in less than 4 yrs, especially when it's a safety concern. I think that with time, more yaris owners will begin to experience this and it should be looked into further before someone is hurt or killed as a result of this failure. I have found numerous complaints online from other yaris owners for this same thing and the apa in canada is requesting toyota canada recall the problem (10/28/11).

I am experiencing a clunking noise coming from the front of the vehicle.the noise is most often heard under acceleration or deceleration. The bolts that secure the control arms to the sub frame are corroding and breaking off, causing separation of the control arm from the sub frame and loss of control of the car.

Poor handling when i go over 90 km per hour.

This should be a safety recall. Underneath the 2007 yaris there is bolts holding the control arm to the suspension. Simply put the bolt has rusted out after only three years. This is not normal. It appears that when water splashes up under the car and gets caught there is no way for the water to drain. It just sits on the bolt. If/when this rusts out the control arm could separate from he suspension and cause the automobile to lose control. It is an obvious design flaw. I urge you and toyota to look into this and issue a recall immediately, as there is many other autos on the road with this same issue. It is a simple fix if caught up front. Unfortunately for folks like me, who already had this happen to. It will cost hundreds. Fortunately, nothing has happened to me me yet. But i cannot get someone to fix it until next week and i have to get to work. So i will cross my fingers that it doesn't get worse.

Driving on the interstate. Heard a noise that sounded like a blown tired. Pull over and looked under car. The wheel was leaning and it appeared to me a bar was broke. Towed it to garage and mechanic had never seen this axle beam broken at the seam. Pictures attached.

Driving down road and axle beam broke at seam.drivers side. Was going straight at the time. Heard noise.top of tire was leaning inward towards car.

Broken bolt for control arm of suspension.passenger side bolt head broken off, causing knocking during bumps/acceleration/breaking.recommendation to replace bolt & control arm for suspension on both sides to mitigate issue. Research on this issue has shown that this is not uncommon for the toyota yaris control arm bolts. This is a serious hazard should the bolt break during use.

Strange sound comming from rear area. Looked and rear passanger side tire leanning inward toward car. Took to repair shop. The rear axle beam was rusted enough that the tire was getting ready to come off. The repair shop had never seen anything like this. I am the only owner of this vehicle. Had about 214,000 miles when this occured. No, longer own car.

Rear axle beam cracked on left side at a weld, noticed vehicle not tracking properly and had checked at a shop and they found this.

The problem had been developing for about a week.there seemed to be some clunking in the front end. When i would stop, the vehicle would lurch forward a little.my first thought was that something like a break part or tire was loose from the front, passenger side.on friday is seemed worse after pulling in to a driveway.i had the problem diagnosed at the dealer.they said the head of a bolt on the lower control arm had rusted/corroded/sheered off. Their estimated cost was about $650.the vehicle was out of the manufacturers warranty.my extended 120k mile/ 96 month warranty covers upper and lower control arms, but they refused to cover this repair.having their refusal explained to me twice, i'm still not sure why.it seems that they make a practice of denying all claims regardless of what they are. (auto exam, houston, tx.)

We have a 2007 toyota yaris the rear wheel hub bearings are failing and the parts are only available at the dealer at a very expensive price. Apparently this is a very common problem and i feel that it may warrant a recall. It is impossible to find the part and distributors told me that the demand has exceeded availability for months. I would like to know if this is being checked into. Thank you

Our local toyota service dealer does not perform safety recall repairs on the weekend, or on weekdays after 4pm.so car will remain in same condition until a dealer is found that can repair safety recall on weekend...if possible.the rodland toyota service representative was actually very rude to me on the phone.not sure what to do from here.thanks in advance for any understanding.

The problem with my 2007 toyota yaris is sudden acceleration with accelerator getting stuck at partially depressed levels (around 50-60 mph).i have to press brake several times to get it to stop.this is sporadic and happens without warning.i took it to vann york toyota in high point, nc and they told me the cause of my problem was after market floor mats.they concluded this after one time traveling around 60 mph.this is not the case because this happens without the floor mat interference.this is still happening and i am afraid that it will get stuck and i won't be able to stop it.i have learned that toyota recalled vehicles for this exact problem but i never received a recall notice. Please advise me on what i should do.thank you.

I bought 2007 toyota yaris 4 door sedan with automatic. When i used cruise control, it had at least two times sudden acceleration. The engine suddenly made huge noise for the acceleration, and i was scared and immediately canceled it. Although it can be canceled, it is still a safety issue.

Been driving a 2007 yaris since july 2006 - no problems, now have 51,200 miles on it. On a completely dry and flat road on 4/9/10, i was approaching a yellow light at appx. 40 mph and began braking.right before the light, as i hit a little bump (uneven pavement section where it changed from bridge surface to blacktop) the engine surged -- i felt it, saw the rpm needle go up and heard the engine rev.i had my foot on the brake the whole time.had to push the brake very hard to get car to stop.no repairs / inspections yet - not looking forward to a dealership telling me they cannot duplicate the incident.sounds like the 2010 prius brake recall issue to me . . .

Air bag light on and power train speed sensor light on

On 16 august, 2013, while turning into a garage parking spot i took my foot off the accelerator to press on the brake to come to full stop before the concrete column at the end of the parking space when, of its own accord, the car suddenly lurched forward at much accelerated speed.the car crashed into the concrete column destroying the front left head lights, entire front grill work, and the frame of the driver's side door was bent so the door would not be opened.no airbags deployed.on 20 august, 2013 my insurance company deemed the car a total loss.

My wife was driving our 2007 toyota yaris and was exiting the freeway. She let off the gas pedal to coast down the ramp to where the traffic was stopped. Suddenly the car accelerated on its own. She swerved to avoid rear ending the row of stopped cars in front of her and attempted to go between the 2 lanes of cars on the ramp. She clipped a truck and the car turned over on its right side, causing severe damage to the yaris. My wife was taken to the hospital with thankfully only minor injuries. My wife and i believe this is an occurrence of the well known toyota 'sudden acceleration' problem, even though this model is not on their recall list.
