Vin tool confirms parts not available.
After several months of having the srs light come on, it's now on all the time while driving.when i took it to the dealer, they replaced several sensors but the light came back and stayed on.i'm very frustrated that this cannot be resolved and its becoming a very expensive solution.

Concerns about the air bags not deploying on his 2009 toyota venza when his wife was hit in the right front of the car on 7/16/15.the consumer stated his wife was thrown against the left front door, causing injury to her back which required surgery.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. He stated that while he was driving in reverse with his foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated and hit a tree. The engine was still on; however, he turned the vehicle off and pusheditinto the garage for fear that the failure would reoccur. Thecontact sustained a large laceration to his head. He was required to get staples for his head injury. The airbags did not deploy. The dealer did not offer any assistance; yet, they advised the contact to notify the manufacturer. The manufacturer stated that they would advise him of the diagnosis after they retrieve the vehicle and inspect it. The failure and current mileages were 230. Update 12/14/09 updated 12/16/09
Our vehicle was struck at high speed by a person who ran a stop sign on a residential street. There was significant damage to almost every corner and side of the car. The car has been totaled. The driver was injured with pain and contusion in the neck, head, side, and elbows. No airbags were deployed. We have now learned that there was a recent recall for this specific matter. We never received any notice, in fact- we have since been to the dealer and no mention of the recall. The driver could have easily died in this accident. ...updated 10/28/14
Airbag sign on the dash board without no collusion. It comes off and on and the ignition coil b keeps coming up when scanned after fixing.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The entire instrument cluster was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after thirty minutes. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where it was found that the spark plug electrical connector was loose and made repairs. The failure and current mileages were approximately 9,000.
While driving on the highway i noticed a "rubber burning" smell. I took the vehicle into the dealership the next day. I was told that the ecu related to my driver seat warmer had started to melt. The ecu was removed and the heating element for my driver seat was disconnected. Toyota will not cover replacement of this part stating that it is out of the 3 year warranty period. I pointed out that this seemed to me to be more of a potential recall issue related to a manufacture defect/faulty product. I was concerned about the potential for fire.
The driver's side seat heater in the leather seat worked fine until a couple of months ago, approximately 80,000 miles.now when it is turned to the on position there is a smell of burning electrical wiring.seat heater was turned off, then on again a couple of times to test it.this happens whether the car is stationery or on the road, just any time the seat heater is turned on.now the seat heater is off and will not be turned on because of the fear of an electrical fire. This vin number is not under the current seat heater recalls.it appears from the other complaints, there are many other cars of this make with the same problem and not under the current recalls.there should be more recalls, and there should be a repair, not just a disconnect the wiring.people pay good money for the comfort features and this should not be ignored.
While at grocery store, engaged rear power lift gate on key fob. Lift gate opened and started loading groceries into rear of vehicle. Without warning the lift gate came down hitting me in the head. There was so much pressure that it knocked to my knees. The head strike caused a contusion and raised lump on my head and minor conclusive symptoms.
Venza speeds up does not slow down. Can go fast without stepping on pedal. 2009. Noise in rear and in front. Was told not to worry about it.
On 1-22-13 we had the seat heater on the driver's side repaired. We observed that the cab would fill with thesmell of electrical wires burning when we engaged the seat heater. It first occurred approximately 1 month prior, but at that time i could not determine what was causing the smell.an online check revealed that nhtsa had announced a recall for seats: front assembly;seat heater/cooler on november 19th, 2014, ref: 14v743000. I would request that our vin be included on the recall list, so that we could be compensated for the repair.thank you.
Purchased 3 wks ago; when rear hatch is opened and closed the battery goes dead. This has happened 4 times. Car was stationary.
Three warning lights appeared simultaneously while driving and stayed on for 20 - 30 minutes until i stopped and turned off the engine (sunny day, no rain):1. Slip indicator light (p.515 - malfunction in the vsc or trac system).2. Brake system warning light (p.513 - malfunction in the brake system).3. Abs warning light (p.515 - malfunction in the abs or the brake assist system). 3. Cruise control:a. Pressing cruise control on switch wouldn't maintain the set speed immediately, but would accelerate for awhile (with accelerator pedal off).b. With cruise control on, adjusting the speed, accelerating and decelerating, doesn't feel right. It's jumpy, wouldn't react right away, not comfortable, not safe. The dealership stated this was the first time toyota has had this problem yet i have read online venza owners have had a problem since 2009. This problem has occurred five times. The dealership service states there is a log which recorded the error.
Faulty wiring of the driver's side seat heater causing a burning smell and the potential for harm to the occupant.
Driving home fromwork stopped @ stop sign, the lights on the dash lit up for check braking, abs, vcs system call your dealer...... So continued to pull out from stop, and squeals the tire, and the vehicle is all over the road when accelerating.was told it is not a recall problem and my warranty just ran out...... Vehicle mileage 28385..................if this happens please be careful car does not handle the same and you lose control easily. I think that all wheel drive is involved but it doesn't handle the same when driving.taking to dealer this week!toyota ref # [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
This is the third occurrence in a year. The vehicle will randomly turn on and attempt to start. There is no fuel going to the engine, so it does not ignite, but i have read reports if venzas doing this and catching fire.the other challenge is that when this happens, it also activates the engine immobilizer and will not recognize the keys.the first time, last january, we returned from a trip to find a dead battery. After replacing the battery, the engine was locked. I eventually was able to get it started, then left both keys in the vehicle inbthe acc on position for 30 minutes, and it recognized the key. In october, i was out running and returned to find the headlights on and the fan blower running. I disconnected the battery, because it would not recognize the keys. I reconnected it later with no change, bit then a few hours later it worked fine. Today, december 1, 2019), we returned home from church to find the starter clicking. The engine immobilizer is activated. The vehicle was locked and untampered. If the battery does not doe, this could start a fire and burn down my house. I am taking it to a dealer, but this is a safety hazard. It occurs while parked, randomly. Though it seems cold weather is a factor.
Driving home from work friday morning and the vsc, abs warnings begin to come up. An issue which was noted when we first purchased the car and around 20k miles the dealer told us we needed a new battery which we had to purchase out of pocket. Since then we purchased an extra warranty to cover all components of the vehicle. This time the dealer is stating that it is a speed sensor and that the insurance covers it but we will have to pay for the labor roughly 400 dollars. The dealer informed us that the issue at hand was for a speed sensor but that it is ok to drive the car. We drove the car and noticed that in the rain the car skids when you try to brake and feels very unsafe so we ended up staying home.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. While driving 40 mph, a loud noise emitted from the ignition switch. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
On july 4, 2016, our toyota venza, while parked in front of 210 sw 29th avenue, attempted to start itself with no one in the car. The solenoid mechanism connected the battery to the starter on its own. The cog of the starter was trying to spin the flywheel. The engine compartment filled with electrical smoke. Our neighbors across the street were walking their dog and heard the car noises. They came to our yard and told my wife what was going on. She got the car keys and opened up the locked car. She popped the hood open. The neighbor got the positive cable off the battery. At the point the starter stopped trying to spin. We contacted our insurance company, amica. The adjuster said we could have the car towed. We had a flatbed wrecker tow it to ed morse toyota in delray beach, fl. While researching the internet i found that toyota issued a recall for starter mechanisms for several models for years 2009 through 2011. However, the venza was not included in that recall. It is my thought that a bad batch of starter/solenoids were made and distributed to various toyota models in 2009 through 2011. I believe that our car received one of them. (research: http://bbc.com/news/business-26950970) i think toyota should pay for our $672.00 starter repair. But more importantly, our car would have burned up if our neighbors had not acted so quickly.
The "srs airbag" warning light comes on for no reason. Sometimes it's while i'm driving, sometimes it's when i'm in park and get out of the car if it's still on. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I've taken it to a toyota dealer and a lexus dealer and have had many of my airbag sensors replaced and nothing seems to work for very long. This is a huge problem since i'll be needing to go get my emissions done in the spring. It's also cost me $1000's in repair costs for a "fix" that doesn't work.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated that the passenger seat produced a burning odor coming from the wiring inside the seat. The vehicle was notdiagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
Toyota 2009 venza systemic speed sensor failures: right rear speed sensor 1/17/2015: left rear speed sensor may 2013: left front speed sensor april 2012in each case, the antilock brake system (abs) and the vehicle stability control (vsc) systems were disabled, creating hazardous vehicle operation, especially in snow/ice.researching, i determined that no recall had been issued, but that knowledge of the defective speed sensors and that their failure disabled the abs and traction control systems were common knowledge.i notified toyota customer assistance center of my concern, on january 22, 2015(toyota case # [xxx]), and made formal request for full reimbursement of the charges for the third repair on the basis that venza speed sensor failures are a systemic, recognized issue causing hazardous driving conditions, and clearly should have been the subject of a recall long past.i notified toyota that the criteria for notification of the issue to the department of transportation, national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) were clearly met. Per united states code for motor vehicle safety (title 49, chapter 301), motor vehicle safety is defined as 'the performance of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment in a way that protects the public against unreasonable risk of accidents occurring because of the design, construction, or performance of a motor vehicle, and against unreasonable risk of death or injury in an accident, and includes nonoperational safety of a motor vehicle.'toyota rejected my request 3/10/15 on the basis that it did not meet the criteria of their new vehicle limited warranty, completely disregarding the stated concern.given that toyota has willfully chosen to not address the recall and hazard issues raised, this complaint is submitted.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
While driving in city abs vsc brake warning lights came on with message to immediately take to dealer.turned out to be speed sensor on right rear wheel.i have removed sensor and while there is no physical damage it appears to be an open circuit.clearly a defect in product since the car is garaged and i live in a high desert environment.effectively the abs and vsc systems are disabled.
Abs, esc, and brake indicator lights randomly display upon driving the vehicle. They display intermittently, sometimes after 1/4 mile of driving, other times after 25 miles of driving. They display on smooth or rough roads, with no apparent cause. While i have not yet had an accident or system fail, it is of concern because i transport my daughter in this vehicle. On a vehicle that has 50,000 miles on it and other documented cases of this as well, i believe this is a cause for concern. I am not sure of the cause or the solution to this problem as of yet. The vehicle does not have to be in motion when the lights appear either. They appear at stop signs or lights, when driving slowly, or at highway speeds. I am unaware if the systems themselves stop working upon the indicators activation or not. I believe that this warrants more investigation and possibly a safety recall as abs and esc are safety features and brakes are (from my civilian perspective) a necessary function for the vehicles safe operation.
Engine noisy while at idle.brought it to the attention of dealer and was told that it was normal. As time went on noise continued to get worse by getting louder. Each time i mentioned it to the dealer while having it serviced, i was told it was normal. Now the noise is much louder and a clatter and very annoying and embarrassing.took it to another garage and they preliminarilythought it was a water pump. Called dealer and reported the findings. Ask what the current mileage is and i told them it was 65000. They said that if it was the waterpump , it is no longer covered under warantee and would be close to 2000 dollars to replace.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, an unknown sound emitted from under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the engine mount and water pump needed to be replaced. The engine mount was replaced but the water pump was not. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, there was a loud rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had replaced the starter however, the failure still occurred. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer and it was diagnosed with the timing camshaft needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact filed a complaint directly with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
After taking vehicle into toyota dealer for recall 90l, vehicle hesitated after accelerating from a stop.vehicle engine hesitates, rpm drops to idle speed 1000-1200 rpm.engine unresponsive for 1 to 2 seconds then resumes normal speed and performance.occurs intermittently usually after initial startup and subsequent startups throughout the day.on rare occasions the hesitation occurs at driving speed.has happened every day at least once since 9-6-11.toyota dealer can not replicate the problem or find any problem through diagnostic tests.problem recurred 2 minutes after leaving dealer on this date.problem did not exist prior to recall 90l being performed.it is a safety issue because it has occurred while pulling into traffic or entering an intersection.
I own a 2009 toyota venza with a knock in the engine. Twice the dealer has stated there was nothing wrong, thus nothing to fix- i find other complaints regarding "the piston slap" with dealer refusing to repair the vehicle and stated that the noise was normal.i do not find an engine knock normal!
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated that there was a knock in the engine. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by the piston slap. The dealer refused to repair the vehicle and stated that the noise was normal. The contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
I own a 2009 toyota venza v6 fwd that has an engine knock everyday when it is first started.the service department at capitol toyota explained the noise was normal.i find it hard to believe toyota would make an engine that sounds like a diesel before it warms up.i contacted toyota who backed up the dealers claim which i again find unacceptable.there is a service bulletin to fix the issue but both the dealership and toyota corporate state the noise has to be excessive enough and that all v6 toyota engines do so.$34,000 for a car that sounds like a tractor.i'm seeking legal advice.
I own a 2009 toyota venza , engine knock when first start, north bakersfield toyotastated there was nothing was wrong, (manufacture has determined this to be normal characteristic for this engine.) dealer refusing to repair !!!a tas case # was opened regarding this problem. Date 1-11-2011,15,000 miles.
My 2009 toyota venza has the defective floormat problem which was identified by toyota months ago and a recall announced.it has been many months since the announcement and my dealer has not received any parts or fix for this safety problem. When i contacted toyota corporation, their customer service representative informed me that as yet there is no fix available and therefore no recall notices have been sent out and therefore no parts are available.in the meantime i have removed the floormat as suggested by toyota, but my light carpeting is gradually been ruined and the floormats which i purchased at considerable cost are useless.i feel that the delay in developing and delivering a solution is unreasonable and that the manufacturer should compensate all toyota owners for this unresponsiveness and prolonging of an unsafe situation.
While driving at night with the headlights on, the drivers side low beam headlight intermittently goes out. Usually occurs in the "auto" setting but not always. Sometimes after stopping and turning off the engine and lights, the low beam will start working but not always. Next night the lights work as designed but may go out again. Happens in city and highway driving...
The hid lights will flicker and go out leaving you in total darkness.not the bulbs because will come on again when you restart the car and then will start flickering again.there are many complaints on forums regarding this.will do it while in motion or parked.continues to happen
Poor low beam headlight illumination, which i determined is due to clouding of the interior surface of the lens in the low beam lamp socket. (not the exterior surface ofgreater headlight assembly) i've read some blogs and anecdotally this appears a recurring complaint with some toyotas. It is not just an issue ofimproper headlight adjustment. This has been experienced for several years now. Recently noticed the newer models headlamp globes appear to be transparent, so finally decided to bring to your attention.datebelow referring to date being reported. Not related to speed, but reporting 45 mph to complete entry reqts.
Driver's side sun visor has failed. While driving on the freeway it suddenly dropped in front of my face causing my vision of the road to be obstructed. The visor is defective in that it would not stay up and away from my face while driving. It seems like the whole bracketing system which holds the visor in place broke and when the visor fell in front of my face, it actually fell lower than if i had put the visor down myself to block the sun. The light which activates the mirror in the sun visor has also stopped working. More importantly, this is a definite safety hazard as it almost caused me to rear-end the vehicle in front of me when the visor dropped and blocked my vision of the road.
I was pulling up to a drive thru window at a fast food restaurant when the vehicle just surged forward i tried to engage the brakes . I hit and damaged two cars in the parking lot before i could bring it to a stop. This was the second time the car had done this but the other time no other cars was involved .
When using the automatic rear back door lift feature on the toyota venza the door continues to close despite resistance.once the button is pushed to close, it appears that anything that gets in the way will get smashed.an archived discussion was posted (just for the locking portion) at:http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-322499.html.
My 2009 toyota venza with only 70,000 miles suddenly developed a whining, grinding noise while driving and accelerating. The noise was coming from the rear axle. The noise got progressively worse very quickly. After mechanical inspection i was informed that the rear differential was shot. I was also informed that the vehicle shouldn't be driven for long distances because of the potential of the differential to overheat and fail.the failure could be associated with safe drivability issues.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)transmission problems - rapid downshifting & says in drive when it's in sport mode.the first time it happened i was driving down the highway alone and i was going around 60mph in the 3rd lane when the venza said "d" on the display but then it felt like it shifted into 2nd gear because it went from 60mph to around 20mph with no warning and i had to get it into the emergency lane in the center so i wouldn't get hit after that i took it to right over to greenwich toyota and they looked at it but found no trouble codes and about a week later i was with my wife [xxx]and i was going down e putnam ave and it happened with her in the car and this time it went from around 40mph in "d" to around 10mph and it scared her and she just asked to be taken home so the next day i took it to toyota and left it for about a week and still no trouble codes were found and it's happened a few more times since then with still no trouble codes now i only use it in sport mode where i manually shift it. Well just recently it has had problems in this also where it won't allow me to shift up or down and while it's in "s" it sometimes says it's in "d" and i'm tired of it because these 2 recent times once i showed jay a service advisor and also thomas stein the owner that it showed "d" while it was in sport mode and they've plugged it in and no trouble codes well they saw it with their own eyes, what else can i do. I have taken my 2009 toyota venza to greenwich toyota in greenwich, ct to get it fixed 4 times now and they say they can't fix it because it's not showing any trouble codes. I'm tired and don't know where else to turn. [xxx]
Driver side seat no heat. Speed sensor front right there light on break abs and vsc. Rear differential make noise
I put my vehicle in reverse and the brakes seemed to lock, when i put it in drive it continued to back up. No matter what gear i put it in it stayed in reverse. I was blocking a lane at the mall ,u my husband tried to push it while in neutralbut he couldn't budge it, it was still in reverse. I think it has a defective transmission, and it only has 40,000 miles on it. Scary and very dangerous situation.
Brake sticking on 2009 venza. On 8/9/10 i completed a filing with the administrator of the national hwy traffic safety administration as well as the customer experience center for toyota regarding my concern with my accelerator sticking. I now think this is more a problem with the braking system than the accelerator. If i press hard on my brake at a stop (whether in reverse or drive) occasionally the accelerator will not engage when i first push on the accelerator. Example: reversed out of the garage ... Put the car in drive but before i actually press the accelerator first i press down on the brake as i re-position myself in the driver's seat. Then when i press the accelerator to drive forward nothing happens. I must slowly press my foot on the accelerator ... Once nothing ... Second time will move forward. It is as if i had to disengage the brakes. In our garage area after i reverse i must turn the car around. At that point i am facing a brick wall. I now am afraid that if the car accelerates out of control i may hit that wall. The distance of 10 feet. Yesterday, i had pressed hard on the brake while sitting at a traffic light. I went to drive and i had no power when i pressed on the accelerator. I lifted my foot a bit and then put it down very slowing a second time. The car moved forward. Irecently took the car to a dealer for the recall on the mats. I expressed my concern about the accelerator sticking. They wrote up the mat recall, the engine slippage i have recently noticed in the lower gears, & checked for a ticking noise that i was hearing from the engine. I was told this was a normal sound coming from the fuel injectors. The service rep took me to the car to remove the cover from the top of the engine and i could then hear clearly the injectors clicking. After reading the other engine revving problems i am now worried that the problem i describe will evolve into the fast acceleration which could cause an accident. Next appt. With the dealer 8/19/10.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)my 2009 toyota venza vin [xxx] , exhibited severe unintended and uncontrolled acceleration at 7:45am on may 5, 2010. The car was running for less than two minutes when i stopped to make a turn from lorain avenue, silver spring md, onto westbound md 193 university blvd. I accelerated to enter traffic and the car took over and accelerated to full throttle on its own. The same behavior as if going into cruise control "resume" mode after being in "coast" except that the cruise control was not engaged. I applied the brakes firmly but they did not sufficiently slow the car nor did the accelerator pedal return to idle position. I was able to shift into neutral and guide the car to a safe stop. The engine continued to run at full throttle and the tachometer was well into the red zone, above 6800 rpm. The engine stop button did not stop the motor when pressed per normal operation. Only when i pressed and held the engine stop button down did the motor stop.i place the transmission into park and applied the foot brake. I checked to see if the floor mat was entrapped in the accelerator pedal and it was not. I restarted the car and it again immediately revved to full throttle. I shut the car down and left it (with my children, ages 2 and 6, who had been their second row car seats and were now in tears).after about an hour i returned to the car by myself and started it again. This time it started normally and idled at about 800 rpm. I drove the car to my home two blocks away and parked it. Koons tysons toyota towed the car to its location at8610 leesburg pikevienna,va22182. They have had the car for over 24 hours and failed to follow through on appointed times to call me back with a status report on the vehicle.
This is 2009 toyota venza v6 awd version.oil leaked from rear differential between electromagnetic coupler sub-assembly and the differential. The coupler itself also leaked oil. The unit is all covered by oil.dealer stating the part is non-serviceable and has to be replaced.
I was driving at 35-40 mph, pulling up to an intersection.i gradually hit brakes to reduce speed, and the car surged forward twice.both feet slamming on the brake pedal were required to stop the vehicle.it has happened only once, but caused great alarm and poses a potential serious safety problem.this was under light braking initially, with no pressure on the accelerator when the car surged forward.it is unknown whether the accelerator or computer was at issue.floor mats were not involved.
2009 toyota venza(manufactured -oct./08), 6 cylinder. Was in park, about to go in reverse to back out of level driveway, foot on brake, car would not engage in reverse! foot brake pedal felt tense and inflexible. Ie. Would not move even with applied foot pressure. Flashing traction control light came on. Turned off carthen restarted and repeated effort to back out. Same thing! again repeat steps, repeated same response. Tried turning off traction control and turning back on several times. No idea what did it, but finally was able to back out.
When backing up my 2009 toyota venza, we experience rapid, unintended acceleration when applying just a gentle depression of accelerator.
My toyota venza 2009 automatic transmission - when the transmission is in "drive" the car rolls back even on relatively mild slopes.it happens about 40% of the time.
Driving around 45 mphwhen i take my foot off the accelerator it starts downshifting until it reaches 20 mph and then it coasts freely, garage unable to fix.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact was driving in reverse approximately 5 mph out of the driveway in rainy weather conditions and slight pressure was applied to the brake pedal when the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated. The idle speed was slow; yet,the driver was able to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred whenever the gear was in the reverse position. The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction. Updated 03/09/10. *ljthe consumer states sometimes when backing up, the idle speed is not sufficient to make the vehicle move in reverse.updated 06/04/10
Driving in residential area, 20-25 mph, made turn, and when accelerator was pressed to accelerate, the car would not go forward.it was as if the car had slipped into neutral, but it was still in drive.i put the car in neutral and then back in drive and it still would not go.the car, however, would go in reverse.several attempts made shifting from other gears to drive (including the sequential shift) without success.finally drove the car in reverse for a short distance, then put it in drive and the gear engaged and it went forward.contacted dealer and had the car towed to shop.dealer could not duplicate the error and said nothing could be done until an error code was found or the problem was duplicated.contacted toyota corporate and they referred us back to the dealer.the problem has not recurred, but if it happened once it will probably happen again.next time, i could be in freeway traffic.i feel this is a safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The vehicle intermittently began to hesitate when accelerating after the brakes were appliedwhile in drive or reverse. The vehicle momentarily paused before accelerating.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to occur intermittently. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 10,813.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza.when attempting to shift gears or during brake activation the traction control activates.usually after 30 seconds the traction control mode is deactivated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice for inspection. The technician concluded that because they could not duplicate the failure, they could not provide a remedy. He then added that although the failure was common for his model type, they have not developed a remedy. The failure mileage was 100. The current mileage was 1300.
I was in the process of merging onto the ohio turnpike and depressed the gas pedal to accelerate and pass a slow-moving semi in front of me. The car accelerated and once past the semi i released pressure on the gas pedal only to have the car continue to accelerate. Despite pressing the brake the vehicle did not slow. As i prepared to shift into neutral gear i reached down and pulled the floor mat to the diagonal corner opposite the gas pedal. With that action the pedal appeared to become responsive to pressure and the car decelerated. A rear seat passenger observed a warning light appear on the instrument panel indicating a master system warning. The light disappeared as soon as the vehicle began to slow. No other actions occurred following the incident.
I accelerated to make a lane change, vehicle took off to increasing acceleration i attempted to brake car would not respond. Luckily no traffic was ahead of me. Finally car managed to stop. I didn't think it would. I had to practically stand on brake pedal. I was assuming some how the cruise control was inadvertently pressed but no it was not.
Toyota venza's airbag wasn't deployed while an accident occurred with heavy damaged in the front of the vehicle. Also, driver seat belt wasn't function it right. It didn't pull the driver tight enough. Chest hit into the steering wheel with serious injury. Two safety device in this car fail to protect the driver.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle independently veered off the roadway. The contact crashed into a tree and the vehicle went airborne. The driver was killed and the front passenger sustained severe injuries. None of the eight air bags in the vehicle deployed. In addition, the front passenger's seat belt buckle would not release open. A police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a salvage facility. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. ...updated 07-10-13 the consumer stated her husband was driving the vehicle, at the time of the accident. Their daughter was injured and her husband was killed, when the vehicle flipped over and crushed him.
I have a 3 years old with 6 months child. He was securely fastened using a car seat but with the toyota venza back seat belt. The seat belt with no apparent reason locked and my child try to get loose from the seat belt. The car was stopped with the parking brake pushed all the way in and i tried to loose him off the seat-belt but i could not because the seat belt got around my child belly and was depriving him of air to breathe. With no success and my son desperately crying for help i had to cut the back seat-belt. I called the toyota dealer where the car was purchased and they told me the warranty does not cover these incidents because there is no recall of this particular issue. In my opinion a seat belt which locks itself and almost kills my child is sufficient as to check and replace the seat belts. Those seat belts have something wrong and could mean a future death if nothing is done. These people are ignorant about these issues and would not fill a report about the incident, they would only ask for the $265 cost to repair the seat-belt.
As with certain 2009 venzas manufactured in the southeastern usa, i have one i was told was manufactured in the gulf states, where the driver's seat heater wiring has also been damaged.unlikesoutheast toyota distributors, llc (set), there has been no other recall by gulf states toyota distributors (gst), and it's quite concerning.i'm finding several people owning venza's who are having a similar issue."the affected vehicles may experience compression of the seat cushion which may damage the seat heater wiring.consequence: damage to the seat heater wiring could cause the wires to short, increasing the risk of the seat burning and causing personal injury to the occupant."
The seat heaters in the vehicle don't work like they should. Sometimes there is a burning smell to them. The drivers side one went out completely about 2 years ago and we had it fixed now the passenger one isn't working at all. The drivers side seat heater gets pretty hot too and has to be shut off.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated that the passenger seat produced a burning odor coming from the wiring inside the seat. The vehicle was notdiagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
The heated leather factory installed seats in our 2009 toyota venza start to smell like electric wires melting after about 10 minutes after turning them on. I have called my toyota dealer and toyota corporation and they said there is no recall on my model and vin. I have 140,000 miles only car and they are telling me to take it to my dealer to get a diagnosis which i will have to pay for since i am out of the warranty periodsthere is a recall on after market components with this same issue but mine is factory install. How do i get this placed on a recall list. I am afraid my seats will catch on fire if this is not repaired.
My front seat heating system has not been working since last year. I didn't realize that there is a recall on toyota venza 2009 for front seat heating issues until now. I have never taken it to any dealership to rectify or disconnect the heating elements. I believe this might still be a safety issue to my vehicle. What steps should i take?
Vehicle is 9 years old, but with only 56,135 miles and very well maintained. Driven by a small female, which is relevant. Experienced an acrid, burning smell which caused gagging and coughing. No smoke visible. Dealer found problems with heated seats, wiring and connectors. Entire heated seat system needs replaced at cost of $1130.30 for each seat. Many complaints of this issue online. There is no way that a small framed female's weight caused damage to the wiring within the seat heaters. This is obviously a manufacturing defect and should be covered by toyota regardless of the mileage, due to this being a safety hazard. Could easily cause a catastrophic fire.
When driver-side seat warmer is activated there is a strong wire burning smell that fills the vehicle.i noticed that several other models, around the same year, were recalled for the same issue.it appears the 2009 venza also has the same issue and should be included in the recall.
The driver heated seat no longer works, at all. I purchased it used with 46k miles and it worked for one winter (2014) but no longer. The light for the heater comes on but there is no heat emitted. There are multiple recalls for this available but none for my vin #. Dealer estimated $1200+ to fix something that is a known issue for my year and model.
Seat heater or driver side heats up too hot and too fast.smells like wires are burning.brought to dealer they are pushing us to install a new seat for $5200.00.and charged us $112.00 for diagnostics.and did not disable the heater. They left it in an unsafe condition. Car was turned on in park also happens while driving. (answeredno fire below but you could smell the wire or something burning).
Heated seat temperature controller (#875010t010) fails resulting in heated seat failure. In our case, the controller failed melting the wire harness plug to the controller. This could have started the seat on fire with our 17 year old daughter driving the vehicle. Toyota has discontinued this part for 2009-2014 venza's and has not offered a replacement.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated that the driver seat cushion was lacking support and would cause difficulty when attempting to reach and maneuver the pedals. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and advised the contact that they were unable to repair the vehicle because of the way it was designed. The manufacturer was also contacted and advised the contact to purchase another vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
Driver side seat no heat. Speed sensor front right there light on break abs and vsc. Rear differential make noise
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza.the contact stated that the head rests on both front seats were moved up too close to the windshield.the head rests make the occupants heads bend down, which makes driving uncomfortable.the toyota manufacturer stated that they moved the head rests for safety purpose in new vehicles.the contact stated that the head rests pose an issue for those who are taller than five feet.the failure mileage was 400 and current mileage was 800. The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. When the contact activated the seat heater, a burning odor and smoke were detected under the seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cause of the failure was a faulty heating element and wiring. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the vehicle was repaired for the same failure three years ago under nhtsa campaign number: 14v743000 (seats). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
Intermittant problem common to many thousands or more of toyota vehicles.>this problem is of most urgency because we do not know if we can safely drive the car. Brakes>#1 safety concern.>the exact problem is that 3 "instrument panel indicator symbols" light, all 3 at the same time.>the indicator symbols are 1.) the "brake" (emergency brake light), 2.) the "abs" (anti-lock brake system warning light) and 3.) the "slip indicator" (icon light).>we have found no action of turning on the car, changing gears, braking, temperature, emergency brake disengaged or engaged, lights, hill braking...in other words...nothing that shows any cause and effect of these 3 lights coming on together.>the 3 lights come on intermittantly, timing is random. Most of the time they are all on.>the car "seems" to drive as normal but we do not know if the abs or anti skid are working or disabled.>this problem started a short time after the toyota dealership 355 toyota on rockville pike in rockville maryland overfilled the master cylinder brake fluid well above the "max" line all the way up to the cap so that you could not see any air.>mechanics at rockville tire and auto removed the excess brake fluid to the correct max line using a polyethylene (non melting) syringe that i supplied. The syringe was clean and never used.>the lights always come on together.>the brake light still stays on when the emergency brake is mechanically released. (and all 3 lights are on or lit to be exact)>when rockville tire and auto checked the pcm? for codes there were no codes even remotely related to brakes or warning lights, nothing. He gave me a printout of the contents of the pcm codes which was absolutely absent of error codes. He also checked the electrical system for anything related to electrical problems and found it to be perfect.>stationary, in motion, turning or straight ahead.
I was driving approximately 40 mph and had to slam on the brakes because the person in front of me made an illegal u-turn.after this occurrence the following dash lights lit up (hand brake light, abs light, warning light) i took my car in to the dealer and they have diagnosed it to be an abs sensor on my front left tire.in the meantime i have read many blogs about this type of problem with this vehicle.the blogs mostly state that the toyota dealers do not know what is the remedy for this brake issue.before i spend a lot of money to address this issue i would like some information first, if in fact a recall is going to happen in thenear future for this issue.thank you.
That day, abs light came on, return to dealer. Tried to stop and the brakes shuttered, anti-lock kicked in. This continues every time i try and stop while finding a place to park.
On january 8th,2015 i had the right front wheel speed sensor replaced on our vehicle. An internet check revealed that a technical service bulletin ref: tsb 0031-12 was issued. Nhtsa ref: 10052153 for the 2009 venza was also issued due to numerous complaints of faulty wheel speed sensors.the faulty wheel speed sensor caused 3 warning lights to come on. The abs, vsc and brake system warning lightscould you please include this vin if a recall is announced. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated after having the vehicle repaired under nhtsa campaign i.d. Number 12v091000 (exterior lighting:brake lights:switch), thebrake warning lamps illuminated indicating a failure in the braking system. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The test results determined a defective speed sensor harness. The failure caused the all-wheel drive system to malfunction along with the brakes and skid control system. The contact inquired with the manufacturer in regard to a technical service bulletin for the failure (nhtsa item number n/a) however, the manufacturer advised the contact that due to the mileage of the vehicle the manufacturer was not able to remedy the vehicle under the factory warranty. The failure mileage was 48,000.
The contact owned a 2009 toyota venza. While driving 50 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes failed to function properly. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags deployed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was filed. Three occupants sustained minor injuries that required medical attention. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Vcs, brakes, abs lights all on at the same time after heavy rain. Went away, came back a couple of times and now is on constantly.
Driver side seat no heat. Speed sensor front right there light on break abs and vsc. Rear differential make noise
While trying to brake, my car accelerated and i almost hit the cars infront of me.i was getting off the highway to the rotary and there was cars stopped in front of me and i tried to brake and the car accelerated instead.
While drivingabs/vsc warning light came on, also warning to take car to dealerimmediately. Called dealership and described problem of my 2009 toyota venza which was difficult to drive due to sense that brake was on. Was told by dealership i could continue to drive car until i could take it to dealership. Car was taken to dealership the next day, where we were told it was dangerous to drive. We were provided a rental car while car was evaluated andparts replaced part 467011 brake pedal support assembly and 1 47110-0t011 support assy, brake we questioned need for failure in a 2009 car and response was that on an assembly line a bad part was probably used.we are uncomfortable with the response and the failure ofthis type in an obviously safety system.
Venza speeds up does not slow down. Can go fast without stepping on pedal. 2009. Noise in rear and in front. Was told not to worry about it.
I own a 2009 toyota venza. Recently by rotating the wheels, i noticed the nuts were loosen. So when taking the wheels out, i noticed that the disc brakes were not tighten to the lugs and could roll back and forth by the little bit of the space between the lugs and the lugs' holes. They would be tighten when the wheels were on and tighten with the wheels' nuts. I use my educated guess to guess that when i brake the car, the disc brakes will have a chance to roll in reverse direction of the wheels in that little bit of the space. When i back up the car, then brake, again, the disc brakes will roll the other direction. This action will result in loosing the wheels' nuts after a short while. We have other cars from other manufactures, and we found that they don't design the same way, which the disc brakes are tighten to the lugs alone. I wrote this same email to toyota, but i don't think they will answer me. I think this is another safety issue. If owners who don't pay attention to retighten the wheels after 5000-7000 miles, they will face a chance of loosing a wheel on the freeway. Please put your engineers to test this issue to help bringing more safety to everyone. Thank you
The "lurch" or "brake release" that prius owners describe happens - inconsistently -in my 2009 venza when slowing down to a stop light or sign.it's been happening since we bought it.toyota just blows it off as if my wife and i are lying about it.there were some alignment issues with it also and toyota has worked on and/or "inspected' it several times.
2009 venza, brake problems, took dealer 3 months to claim problem resolved but i'm not convinced that my brakes are ok. I do not think the brakes are safe; i do not trust this car. There is still a safety problem. Problem manifests itself primarily at temperatures 65 or above.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. Whenever the contact drove the vehicle and applied the brakes he noticed that it tookmore than normal pressure to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal pedal was initially depressed. However, after releasing the pedal and applying the brake pedal a second time, the brakes operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the failure could not be reproduced. The contact has noticed the failure since the day he purchased the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 1100.
We own a 2009 toyota venza 4 cylinder a/t fwd vehicle. One of the safety features in this vehicle is hill-start assist. On 7/20/09 while i was at a red light on an uphill slope, the light turned green and upon releasing the brakes, the vehicle immediately started rolling backwards, almost colliding with a vehicle behind us. On 7/24/09 i took the vehicle to wolfchase toyota in memphis, tn. To have the vehicle inspected. I was told four different stories from the dealership and toyota u.s. Headquarters: that a: the venza did not have the hill-start assist feature, b: it did have the feature and was working fine, c: only all wheel drive models had the feature, and d: my car had the feature but it doesn't activate automatically-you have to manually activate the feature by fully stepping on the brake pedal until a beep is heard and the traction control light comes on, and then you have two seconds to press the gas pedal before the feature turns off. The owners manual states the vehicle has the hill-start assist feature but does not mention anything about activating it manually. We were not notified about the manual activation by the dealer upon purchasing the vehicle or by toyota when the safety concern was first brought up. I feel toyota should immediately send out a safety notice requiring all employees be briefed about the hill-start assist feature, how it doesn't activate automatically, and how to activate the feature when stopped on an uphill slope.
I was driving (~ 30 to 35 mph) on winter st, framingham, ma around 530pm.ihit brakes at the red signal @ the junc with fountain st, but my car would not stop.luckily the on-coming traffic stopped preventing a crash.
2009 toyota venza. Consumer states unintended acceleration *tgwthe consumer stated he had difficulty finding the brake pedal. Primarily, if he parked in his driveway, which has a slight downward incline, there were times when he entered the vehicle and it would begin to drift backwards. At times, he would miss hitting the brake, to try and stop the vehicle.the consumer believed the problem was due to smaller seat size and body position alignment . The consumer stated there was a difference in the brake pedal size and distance/position of the accelerator.
The dealer said its a faulty intermediate shaft the vehicle has been doing this since i purchased it 7 months ago.

When steering, the steering wheel is hard to control and makes a shaky and had vibation. . contacted toyotoa and even though there is a service bulletin they will not fix it!!two times now i have been behind bad accidents, almost unable to stop
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. While operating the vehicle, a rattling noise was present coming from the steering column. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
I just bought a toyota venza 2009 fwd, next day after came off the dealer, i heard a clicking noise behind the air bag on the driver side by the steering column. I just came back to the dealer and they told me, there is a tsb report for this kind of vehicles, here is the tsb # 0005-11, is a common issue but is just an "annoying" noise and is not any risk involved......, who knows?, looks like toyota know very well about this issue but they didn't make any recall yet. Just a bulletin. Is a failing piece in the steering column. How is possible the dealer know something like that and they did not make any recall???. Fix it can be around 2000 dollars.....ridiculous.
I have this car for about 3 years now. I complain about the noise on my steering while i'm turning the steering or driving. I called the manufacturer if there was a recall or defect on my car and they ask me to bring my car to any dealership to diagnose the car and the result is to change the steering column assembly and my factory warranty expires at 60k miles. My concern is why they recalled the other cars steering problem which i have the same problem in my car. Every time i leave a message to the manufacturer they always tells me they forward my request to the national headquarters. I haven't receive any calls or message from them since march 2012 and the noise on my steering is getting worst and the cost of repair is almost 2k.
Toyota venza 2009 constantly pulls to the left.when driving on a bumpy road it will drift to either side and when i step on the brakes, it drifts as well.dealerships say it's following crown of the road, but it doesn't-it veers off the road. When taking a right turn, the steering is stiff and turns more to the left than right.i have visited 3 dealerships with no resolution. Struggling to keep car on the road and was very dangerous during a recent snow storm between avoiding to hit other cars and veering off the road.i have called toyota hotline and they insist there's no problem. This car is dangerous to drive.
The steering column make loud noise and like metal contact
Steering column makes noise on turns . My mechanic checked out nd it is coming from steering column u joint. I think it is safety issue that toyota should cover.
Just purchased a 2009 venza and there is a rattle in steering column when hitting small pumps or cracks in road or turning. No pics because it seems to be a internal issue.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. While driving 60 mph, the steering wheel independently veered to the left or right without warning.the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a tire mechanic on the assumption that the vehicle had experienced a tire failure. The technician replaced the tires and performed an alignment, but the failure recurred.the vehicle was then taken to the dealer.the technician diagnosed that the vehicle needed an alignment.the vehicle was repaired; however, the steering wheel began to veer to the right while driving.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they performed a calibration update, rotated the tires, and test drove the vehicle.the failure persisted and the dealer was unable to locate the cause of the failure.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Updated 01/14/15

I noticed my toyota venza's roof molding strip was loose during a car wash. I put it back; however, one week later the roof molding strip was gone. I went to dealer, and was told my car was no longer under warranty, even the mileage still under 36000 miles. Then i searched on the internet and found that many people had the same problems. I believe toyota should make a recall for this manufacturing defect before accidents happen.

2009 toyota venza -vsc/trac . This problem has occured twice. Once in a parking lot and the other at a stop light. In the parking lot, i put the car in drive and the vsc light came on. Car was stuck - it would not move forward.brake was lightly applied, not heavily applied. To fix problem, put car in park and started all over again. Problem resolved. 5 days later, i pulled out of a parking light and started to lightly apply the brakes for an upcoming red light. After i was stopped for about 30 seconds, the vsc/trac light came on again and the car was stuck (would not move forward). I tried tapping breaks to release, but ultimately had to put the car in park, turn off the car and start over again. In both instances, i did not have my foot heavily on the brake.in the first instance, i was on a less than 1% decline and the 2nd instance was on a flat road - and the roads were dry.i tried to reproduce the problem at home, but found the only way i could get the vsc light to come on was by heavily applying the brake. In both instances described, i had not applied the brake heavily at all.

While trying to brake, my car accelerated and i almost hit the cars infront of me.i was getting off the highway to the rotary and there was cars stopped in front of me and i tried to brake and the car accelerated instead.
Our 2009 venza has had 3 speed sensor failures in the last year.good thing we had an extended warranty, but what happens when that expires in about 10,000 miles?when i asked toyota this question, they said to call back when another when broke.i'm sure that won't be long.in my opinion, toyota has sold a product with a defective part and doesn't really care.this was our first toyota and last toyota purchase.
On 4/21/2018, i was driving at 75 mph down a mountain freeway in arizona from 5600 elevation to 2300 ft when my sunroof blew a hole out from the center of the middle lane of glass. The whole pane cracked and began to disintegrate. Thankfully the sunroof and protective cover were closed. At first i thought a rock had somehow caused the break until the tow truck driver pointed out that the edges of the glass were pushing upward indicating the glass blew upwards from the cabin. This is the second time this has happened. The first time was on a city street at 40 mph in colorado at 6000 ft elevation. Toyota no longer makes the venza. The glass on the sunroof should be made with a protective coating to keep it from coming apart in a thousand pieces.
Airbag sign on the dash board without no collusion. It comes off and on and the ignition coil b keeps coming up when scanned after fixing.

Sun visors have came loose causing the visor to just hang down causing tearing in the covering material and poor visibility. It cannot be put back up in place. The internal mechanism is frozen up or something.
My sun visor on the driver side would not stay in place and when i applied a little pressure the visor broke around the hole where it connects to the roof piece. I was driving. Then it would hang in my face and i could not see well. At stop signs i was trying to remove it but the fabric around it prevented that. I was finally able to remove it and currently have no visor on the driver side now.
The drain hose for the air conditioning condenser may become clogged causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser unit housing. The accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module.
Awd engaged all the time and it might lock and if this happen the car will stop .this according to the dealer.
I was pulling up to a drive thru window at a fast food restaurant when the vehicle just surged forward i tried to engage the brakes . I hit and damaged two cars in the parking lot before i could bring it to a stop. This was the second time the car had done this but the other time no other cars was involved .

I own a 2009 toyota venza and on sept 24 , 2009 my car accelerated through a chinese restaurant in my town 2 people in the restaurant were slightly injured and i was not injured and the passenger was not injured but it could have been worse.
Vsc warning light is activated when vehicle is started and driver moves shifter from park to reverse.even though shifter is in reverse, reverse gear will not engage and when accelerator is depressed, engine revs as though the shifter is still in park.to correct, driver must place shifter back in park, temporarily remove foot from brake and then reapply brake and shift back to reverse. The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. The contact stated thatwhile traveling at approximate speeds of 35mph and attempting a turn, the vehicle abnormally accelerated without warning. The contact confirmed his foot was not depressing the accelerator pedal when the failure occurred. The vehicle proceeded to crash into a concrete curb. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where an investigator was brought in to further assess the failure. The investigator attributed the failure to an extra all weather floor mat. One week after the crash, the contact received a recall letter (nhtsa campaign id number 10v023000) relating to the failure. The vehicle was being repaired by the dealer. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were approximately 7,000.
I was gently accelerating onto nj rt. 22 east at 7:40 am on may 19, 2010. Very suddenly, the vehicle accelerated at full throttle, even after i removed my foot from the accelerator pedal. I applied full pressure on the brake, but it kept accelerating. I then applied the emergency brake, and while weaving in and out of traffic at very high rate of speed, attempted to get the vehicle out of drive. I drove on to the shoulder to avoid traffic. After some combination of braking, applying the emergency brake, and putting the vehicle in neutral or reverse, it came to a stop. I am not sure when i was able to put it in park, but i pressed the ignition button and the engine stopped. I put on my hazard lights, took a deep breath, and realized that the rear driver's side corner was protruding the right lane. So as not to be a further hazard to traffic, i started the vehicle to move it. A warning light appeared on the dashboard telling me to "check the brakes with the dealer," or something to that effect. The smell from the over heated brakes was very strong--strong enough to prompt me to open the windows. Oddly enough, the car ran fine after restarting. It was as if i rebooted the computer. I was very close to the dealer from which i purchased the vehicle, so with the hazard light blinking, i drove slowly to the dealer service center. They said they inspected the vehicle and found nothing wrong. They also brought in a toyota engineer who said they found nothing wrong. The vehicle was only 2 weeks old when the sudden acceleration occurred. I do not feel save driving this vehicle. I do not want it back. They still have possession of it. On a side note, i would feel better if they were not able to sell it to anyone else. Please contact me ([xxx]) at [xxx] with questions. Please help us. I was sitting in the drive thru line of a fast food restaurant when the car took a sudden surge forward. I steered hard to keep from hitting the vehicle in front of me and manage to hit the bumper onright side doing over 1500 dollars in damage and swerved into another parked car doing damage to it also. The venza had damage of more than six thousand dollars. The car has been repaired but i am afraid to drive it so it has been sitting in the carport since the day the repairs were finish. By the way that was the second incident of that kind in that car. There is something wrong with that car. Please investigate before someone is hurt or killed.
Thank you.
I have experienced the engine surge problem with my 2009 toyota venza.in my case, it happens intermittently, and has not yet caused an accident.in all of these incidents, i was accelerating to pass another car or to merge into traffic when the engine surged, causing the car to move much faster than i had intended.in the first case of passing, the surge nearly caused me to lose control of the car because torque pulled the steering wheelbeyond where i intended to turn.when i took the car into the toyota dealer, the customer handler told me the car was designed to do this, and eventually he worked his way around to, "once the car's computer gets used to the way you drive, it won't happen any more."more recently, the dealer has said the venza is not covered by the recall, so i can't even get the shim'which doesn't seem likely to solve an engine surge problem, but would at least help to disprove the sticking pedal story.

Merging onto freeway and getting up to speed, the accelerator pushed to the floor and continued to take over the car and rev up to 7500rpms. I was unable to disengage the throttle as it took me at full speed into traffic. I shifted the car to neutral and the engine continued to rev at 7500 rpm's. I luckily was able to guide the car to the shoulder in the peak traffic commute by turning the emergency flashers on and move over 2 lanes . I then turned off the ignition and waited to calm down for 3 minutes before attempting to restart the car. The car immediately revved to 7500 rpm's so i turned off the ignition again.i tugged and pulled on the throttle until it returned to the up position.being afraid to drive it i called toyota to come get me and they told me to just drive safely home and bring the car in the next day.i took the car to the toyota dealer the next morning and they kept it all day. The told me that they could find nothing wrong with the car and that i would have to continue to drive it until it happened again and try to get it into them at that time.the car is a 2009 toyota venza.
Vehicle accelerated without my foot on accelerator.we have owned the car for a year, and it only happened once.i pushed the accelerator all the way down, then when i released my foot, it continued to accelerate.i put the car in neutral, and hit the accelerator pedal several times, which "loosened" the pedal, and the car ran normally from that point forward.

On i-77 between columbia,sc and charlotte, with my cruise control on, running about 67, in the passing lane. As i approached a truck in the passing lane, i tapped the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control. It didn't work! i pressed the off button on the cruise control, that didn't work. I tried pressing the brake again and each time i did, when i released the brake the car "shot"out like a rocket.finally, i put the vehicle in neutral, pulled over to the side and cut-off the ignition. I could have easily run into the back of the 18 wheeler, or another vehicle.when i recranked the vehicle's cruise had disengaged. I took it to the toyota dealer (cherokee toyota), canton, georgia.they said they couldn't find anything wrong, and it may have been the floormat got stuck under the accelerator.believe me, that's not what happened.the floor mat has never moved while driving.they never explained to me why the cruise control would not disengage...i am afraid to use my cruise control, and afraid to allow my wife to even drive the vehicle....
Noticed the car accelerating a little bit, nothing like a throttle stuck or anything but just accelerating a bit more than i think, curious to know if anyone else is having this issue at all
I purchased a toyota venza, and i am upset that toyota no longer install extenders on the sun visors. The sun is hitting the driver and passenger in the eye, and it is not possible when driving into the sun to block out the sun in many instances, this is most annoying & unsafe.
Drivers side sun visor falling down and impeding site.
Sun visor obstructing visibility: last year (2003)the left sun visor (driver side) fell straight down blocking vision during travel.i already paid $100 + tax to replace it. Now on november 2014, the right sun visor (passenger side) is broken. I have concluded that it is a manufacturing defectand a safety hazard issue, because it can cause an accident. I don't feel i should have to pay for this visor again. There needs to be a recall due to a lot of complaints about this problem and before a tragedy occurs.
The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza. While driving at any speed, the driver side sun visor detached and hindered the contact's view while driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Drivers side sun visor obstructing visibility. The visor appears to have separated, allowing the bracket to shift to outside of the visor. The result leaves the visor hanging straight down.
The sun visor position retaining clip separated from the plastic molding and the visor will not remain up.the visor impedes visibility to the front.it can be moved out of the way to the left but that partially blocks my view of the side mirror.since the visor is freely swinging sometimes it stops tilted toward the driver.in the event of a crash this could result in head injury.the loss of visibility toward the front is significant for drivers with a higher seating position.from several forums this appears to be an issue from at least the 2008 to 2010 toyota model years across all models.

The contact owns a 2009 toyota venza.the contact stated that the driver's side visor malfunctioned.the visor continuosly dropped, blocking the contact's visibility. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
The driver side sun visor will not stay up and is coming apart. The visor hinge seems to be protruding from the visor which cause the visor not to stay up or go up blocking the driver's visibility. As you are driving the vehicle, you have to duck down to see through the windshield. Also, when turning to my left to check my blind spot, when i turned back to look straight i hit my head on the sagging visor. This could be a major safety concern as visor could hit someone in the eyes and cause and accident resulting in injury or death.

The vehicle was taken to bredemann toyota (1301 w dempster st, park ridge, il 60068, (847) 655-1435) where it was diagnosed that the sun roof housing needed to be replaced along with the headliner due to the drain tube not being installed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,623.
The driver side sun visor started to just fall down a little at first. Then it just started falling off a little more sometime blocking my view.i would push it back up and that worked for a couple of weeks until the metal part came through the cloth and it came off totally.i went to price a new one at the dealership and they wantedaround $121.00 that wasn't including service.i see there are a lot of complaints about this problem so i don't feel i should have to pay for this visor.there needs to be a recall before someone crashes from this problem.please don't wait for someone to get hurt before you have a recall.needs a recall asap....
Affected part:driver sun visorthis is actually the second incident i've had with the visor.the first time was just a few months after purchasing the new venza.toyota replaced the first visor because it was under warranty, but this is a widespread problem with not only 2009 venzas, but various toyota models.toyota has only recalled the camry models.my vision is obstructed while driving due to the visor can not be pushed in the up position creating a safety hazard.even though my original defective visor had to be immediately replaced, toyota wants to charge me for the repair.there are also petitions online requesting a recall for this part.
Over the past two years, the driver's side sun visor has periodically popped down. I've thought nothing of it and pushed it back up. This time, i heard a pop and it came all the way down. Now a metal piece is sticking out between thetwo pieces and the visor swings to and fro as i drive. It obstructs my line of vision whether it is in front of me or to the side. I've called the local toyota dealer about this and they inform me that i have to bring it in to buy a new one. From my research, it is a problem that should be addressed and it is a road and safety hazard.
In march 2014, my passenger sun visor started failing by making a clicking sound when lowering.by april, the visor would not go back up and ending "hanging" where you were unable to see unless you held it.in may 2014, the driver's side sun visor failed as well.i now have both visors stowed in my glove box because when i called the dealership, they said to hang on to them in case of a recall.they said part and labor to fix would be about 200.00 for one.it is very dangerous driving, especially when the sun is extremely bright.i can see an accident waiting to happen.please have a recall on these sun visors done before someone gets hurt.
Driver's side sun visor will not stay in the up position, or in the visor position, but drops into an unsafe, visibility hampering and distracting location.touching/feeling the plastic assembly where the visor connects to the support bar reveals that the assembly has failed.i find it interesting that toyota has issued an advisory and will pay for this repair for camry's but not venza's.i have a 2010 camry that i purchased on the same day as the venza: july 31, 2009 and it's driver's side visor failed on july 31, 215 just one day after the venza's (but with twice the mileage)! hoping that nhtsa can convince toyota to fix the much smaller quantity (compared to camry) of venza's as well.i would replace it myself if the part wasn't so terribly overpriced ($179 !!!).i will be seeking goodwill from the dealer i purchased from, but from traffic on the internet, i see this is a pervasive problem for which toyota is not taking the correct action
Lh sun visor fell straight down blocking vision during travel. Replaced lh sun visor and now at 81,000 miles the lh sun visor is broken again, this is a defective part and had to be removed to provide clear vision. Should not have to buy a third visor. This is a safety hazard. Lh sun visor assembly is faulty.
Exactly as another driver stated: the driver side sun visor started to just fall down a little at first. Then it just started falling off a little more sometime blocking my view. I would push it back up and that worked for a couple of weeks until the metal part came through the cloth and it came off totally. I went to price a new one at the dealership and they wanted around $111.00 that wasn't including service. I see there are a lot of complaints about this problem so i don't feel i should have to pay for this visor. There needs to be a recall before someone crashes from this problem. Please don't wait for someone to get hurt before you have a recall. Needs a recall asap..
When the drivers visor was pushed up out of the way something snapped and the visor would not stay up. It would only hang down obstructing my line of vision. I ended up driving from utah to az holding the visor up so i could see. I spent over $125 to install it myself. Two years later the same exact thing has happened to the passengers visor making it nearly impossible to see traffic coming from my right. I called power toyota to get the part and was informed the following day it is on a national back order with no release date. When i contacted toyota regarding this safety issue i was informed that visors are only covered for 3 years and offered no suggestions or reasons as to why the visors are unavailable. I hope my upcoming trip to tucson is not negatively affected by toyota's faulty visors.
Sun visor fell down while driving, almost caused a crash, upon inspection visor is completely warped inside.
The sun visor on the driver side suddenly dropped down while i was driving home.now it just hangs down in my face unless i rotate it to the side window.no visor when driving into the sun and a visor to my left blocking my vision.not safe.
The sunroof of the newly purchased toyota venza fell off while driving--there is a design defect...

Thank you
Toyota 2009 venza systemic speed sensor failures: right rear speed sensor 1/17/2015: left rear speed sensor may 2013: left front speed sensor april 2012in each case, the antilock brake system (abs) and the vehicle stability control (vsc) systems were disabled, creating hazardous vehicle operation, especially in snow/ice.researching, i determined that no recall had been issued, but that knowledge of the defective speed sensors and that their failure disabled the abs and traction control systems were common knowledge.i notified toyota customer assistance center of my concern, on january 22, 2015(toyota case # [xxx]), and made formal request for full reimbursement of the charges for the third repair on the basis that venza speed sensor failures are a systemic, recognized issue causing hazardous driving conditions, and clearly should have been the subject of a recall long past.i notified toyota that the criteria for notification of the issue to the department of transportation, national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) were clearly met. 552(b)(6).
Thank you.
