Toyota informed me through mail to my address that my new 2018 toyota tundra "fail to conform to federal motor vehicle safety standards (fmvss) no.208," "occupant crash protection," and 214, "side impact protection."when i called the customer service number provided 1-888-270-9371 to ask if they would be willing to cover the cost of taking the vehicle to an alternate repair facility located on my island, they refused, not only did they refuse but they claimed that only a toyota authorized dealer could perform the repair.when i asked how i was suppose to deal with the safety recall without an option to bring my vehicle to an authorized dealer, i was told that i would just have to figure that out on my own, when i asked for the response in writing they also claimed that toyota would not provided that.

While driving my 2018 tundra sr5 a warning light came on saying " sr5 airbag system malfunction.i know it was a recall on this issue back in 2018 but my vehicle was not on that recall

Car purchased 10/09/2018pre-collision malfunction and trailer brake error 11/04/2018, 11/16/2018, 12/5/2018light comes and goes intermittently.especially during rainy and windy weatherdropped off at toyota dealership toyota of selma in selma ca.diagnosis as dtc c1435 detected.please see attached photosdealer has not remedied problem.

I purchased a 2018 toyota, tundra truck in 1/2018. On 3/5/19 at apprx 8 am. I assume an electrical fire started beneath the center console. While at a standstill, on my driveway, around 8 am, a fire started inside the toyota.the fire could not be extinguished with water and continued to grow and only after a fire extinguisher was used was the fire extinguished. The flames had consumed the plastic in the center console to the automatic gear shift. The fire had run along the same path that the wire run which could be visually seen. We tried to move the vehicle a distance from a building but could not shift it forward only backwards. We contacted our insurance and after inspection they determined it was an electrical fire. There has been no after market additions to this vehicle. We contacted toyota and the vehicle was towed to the dealership on3/8/19.a claim was filed with toyota (#1903113498) thereafter. It is now may 2018 and to date we do not have our car back nor know of the status of our claim.as an fyi the truck was serviced on 8/2018 and they advised us that they had to replace the truck battery with a brand new battery on this same new car - something about not keeping the charge. The fire was on 3/5/19 and it is now 5/3/19 and we have not been advised on the status of the vehicle.on one of the phone calls i was advised that it was at product liability.one my phone call today they did not know when i would have my truck back or the outcome of the investigation. The truck's approximate mileage was 20k. I was advised by my state's ag that i was obligated to report this incident to you. I would like answers and i would like my 2018 toyota as it should be.

Received a pre-collision malfunction and trailer brake error multiple times.was informedthe fault occurred due to cold weather.was informed that recall software update would resolve issue but has occurred twice since with the latest occurring 1/12/2018. Also, have been experiencing a rattling/vibration noise coming from the passenger side dash since purchasing the vehicle in october; toyota hq involved. Latest diagnosis is a faulty ecu; awaiting repair and validation.

Toyota's pre collision sensor is unreliable and intermittently produces an error "pcs sensor unavailable -- clean sensor". The safety portion of this complaint comes when dynamic cruise control is set. When the sensor no longer detects a vehicle in front of you, and there is clearly there, the vehicle will accelerate at a high rate of speed before the error shows on the dash cluster if the cruise control is set above the traffic flow. I expect and realize that this situation could occur, and i avoid using the system. However, if somebody not familiar with this fault is using the pcs sensor and does not realize this problem, they will end up rear ending another vehicle, possibly at a high rate of speed before the system shuts itself off and lets off the throttle. I know i am not the only person dealing with this issue. Several others on different forums have described similar situations where accidents have been narrowly avoided because of this fault. The local toyota dealership has been helpful in resolving this issue and have pulled codes for a forward camera communication issue. A new camera has been ordered and will be installed next week.

Driving down the road the following lights came on the dash some of them flashing and loud beeping sound, also displayed the following errors on the center lcd.lights: abs, brake, 4lo, 4hi, hazard triangle, bsm, traction contol, rcta.warning messages:drive start control malfunction, visit your dealer. Blind spot monitor malfunction, visit your dealer. Trailer brake error, if toeing come to a safe stop with manual controls, contact dealer.rear cross traffic alert malfunction, visit your dealer.when this happened i pulled over to a stop, placed the truck in park and turned it off. Waited 10 sec and turned it back on, same messages and lights were on.aprox 30sec later all lights turned off and everything was back to normal.

Pcs system randomly turns itself off, rendering radar cruise control and other safety features useless. Started with less than 500 miles on the car. It has been in the dealership 3 occasions at this point with all updates completed and pcs light still illuminates on its own.

I had 2 warning messages appear on the dash whilst driving:1. Trailer brake error (if towing come to a safe stop with manual controls.) contact dealer.2. Pre collision system malfunction. Visit your dealer.the messages would not clear, drove 80 miles (freeway) or so home, truck was running fine, no issues on that side, the following day i had the vehicle towed (aaa) due to the pre collision system failure error...i get a messagefrom the dealer to say i have fuel contamination and it'll cost $1400 plus tank refill, no mention of the error codes that were on! apparently they said due to a mis-fire it throws those codes. I never felt and mis-firing while driving, we picked the truck up, filled half the tank added injector cleaner as a precaution......there were no running problems, the error codes have gone.... A electrical anomaly....

The pre collision warning light illuminates a various times. The cruise control will not work when illuminated. The sensor has been kept clean. It does not give a failure code at the dealer. It was reprogramed. The pre collision braking was a major feature in my buying process and it does not work correctly.

Collision avoidance system engaged randomly with no known cause at location traveled on a frequent basis. At between 40-45mph on a sunny day at temperature in upper 60's and a location that i travel multiple times a week, the collision avoidance system engaged on the dash board. There were no cars, guard rails, trees or other major metal objects on or near the road at the time of the incident. Toyota service mgr indicates that there was no data logging of the event and technician was unable to reproduce; indicates that without 'evidance', they cannot make a repair. However, the evidence of intermittent sensor or computer failures is not always available if proper data logging equipment is not installed in the system. Previously, the collision avoidance system had been engaged by an oncoming bus in the adjacent lane (normal daily driving condition, no expectation of collision) at 30mph.parking collision sensor (left front) was also triggered in minor snowfall at low speed in a parking lot. Vehicle was purchased new from dealer 12/2017 and had all scheduled services.

Pre-crash system does not work properly, with no vehicle in front of me while driving on the hwy, at times if a vegicle passes me on either left or right side, the crash warning beeped and brakes applied, note: no one is in front of me, this has happened a few times, since the initial recall for updates, my pre-crash system inticates its on, however, its not working, yesterday at about 2:15 pm on 8/27/2018 it failed and i hit someone in the rear and speed under 10 mph, i was told by fred anderson toyota of sanford nc service department that they have had some that was out of calibration and that mine should have worked wether if cruise control is on or off.. Well it doesn't not work, my truck goes into toyota today 8/28/2018 at fred anderson toyota to be checked again since the software recall update. I have 650.00 in damage to my truck, not sure on the amount of the vehicle i hit because the system failed. I have been reading a lot of complaints on this issue, and it seams toyota is not doing nothing

Vehicle was diagnosed with having a left rear speed sensor and speed sensor wire was broken due to a piece of plastic part came separated from the wheel. Have all kinds of lights come on dashboard and flash on and off, until sensor is replaced with new at an astronomical rate, which cannot be replaced at this time. Feel that the vehicle should be considered recalled for this issue, as the wire is just hanging there, attached to the wheel underneath and should be fixed and attached somewhere else, where it is not less likely to be pulled or disruptive on the future, by other vehicles like mine is. Should be on a recall list as i do not know if other toyota owners are experiencing the same problem. The lights on the dashboard just blink off/on continuously, even when it starts and from the time the vehicle stops. Cannot see the speed on the dashboard when you are driving down the road.

1st off, i drive a 2018 tundra, my integrated trailer brake controller doesnt apply brakes on any trailer. It throws an error message and will not work on any trailer type settings. Had trailer checked and tested with other vehicles and trailer works fine. And of course the same exact issue is all over the internet since 2016 and up, with no fix or responibilites taken on toyotas part. Not habing trailer brakes is a very dangerous situation and believe that if i paid for the brake system i should have to buy an aftermarket one just to pull my trailers safely.2nd issue is once again electrical, the radio shut on and off every 10 minutes or so...will not keep presets saved etc, told toyota and they tried to download and update and said the radio wouldn't except the download.of course truck is out of the horrible offered 30k mile warranty....so i have a 2018 tundra 4x4 that has a broken radio and can't even pull a trailer.....hard to wanna make a payment for that kinda stuff.

Toyota safety sense sensors randomly malfunction and flash false warning lights. My truck will tell me to brake and beep alarms at me even if nothing is in front of me. This has happened around 10 times, and one time my truck slammed on my brakes on the interstate for no reason. Luckily this was at night with no other vehicles around. Myself and many other folks have had serious issues with this system and toyota does nothing to acknowledge the problem.

Pre-collision sensors.pre-collision sensor has gone off twice advising me to brake.both times there was no other vehicle around me nor was there anything to the sides or in front.took it to the local dealership and they called toyota corporate (?).was advised there's no fix and to continue driving the vehicle and annotate all factors surrounding my vehicle if it goes off again.seems like an extremely unsafe alternative to finding out why a pre-collision sensor goes off.i should not feel unsafe driving my vehicle

The pcs always come on the truck died when i was driving it also whent into limp mode on the highway couldn't drive over 20 mph the truck slammed on the breake when i was driving it into a tunnel in seattle wa almost caused a big accident if there was a semi truck some one would have died the selling dealer lied to me on what's going on with my rig keeps telling me non of the problems that's happened isn't a safety problem they also look at stuff that's notwhat i bring the truck into for the problems they are just giving me the run around every time the have my truck it seems they don't care about what i'm telling them what's going on with the truck they look at stuff my truck don't have or something easy different this truck is a lemon it has safety problems i have attempted to contact the owner of toyota dealership that sold me the truck 4 difrent time and they never called me back there service manager and advisers lie to me there mechanic says one thing but management tells me something elsa the truck is a big safety issue this happens on highways and freeways at higher rates speeds i also have video of some of the safety problems

Multiple events. 2500 miles on vehicle. While driving 70mph in cruise control the pre-collision warning came on and vehicle applied brakes forcefully without any vehicle ahead of my vehicle until i turned off cruise control.after the event the traler brake malfunction statement and warning lights were on. Pre -collision failure light reset after key cycled off and back on.failure occurred multiple times in multiple driving conditions, currently trailer brake failure light is illuminated.each time i had to exit or pull over and stop vehicle, cycle key to have warning clear.

Vehicle pre collision system (pcs) malfunction/off light will illuminate upon engine start and turn off once several minutes have passed when driving.light seems to illuminate more often when the temp is <40f.unknown if the pre collision system is actually working when the malfunction light illuminates.

The bluetooth signal (phone calling) keep disconnecting.the dealer, toyota of seattle tried to fix 4 times and they replaced the unit last time but i still have the same problem. They keep blaming on apple iphone.

Driving truck on freeway with cruise control on at 80-85 mph. Road was flat and it was a clear sunny day. No cars near the truck and the precollision sensor went off causing the truck to almost emergency brake before i turned cruise control off. There was nothing in front of the truck to cause this. A few weeks before the precolision sensor and lane departure semsor went off and til me the truck needed to be taken to dealer. The sensors have gone off a few times saying they are inoperable.

I received a safety recall notice for potential fuel pump failure from toyota in jan. 2020. It has been 6 months and no solution has been announced and the local dealership is not assisting with resolution.

The contact owns a 2018 toyota tundra. When the vehicle was started, the brake pedal traveled to the floor without warning. The vehicle was taken to kenny kent toyota (5600 division st, evansville, in 47715, (812) 618-0061) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 14,531.

I was driving down the road and got into the left turn lane and when i applied the breaks the pedal seemed extremely lose and the truck was unable to stop. Luckily there was no traffic and i was able to go up and make the turn extremely slowly. When i got home i noticed that the truck was leaking break fluid.

When its moist out. The cruise will auto cancel itself and the pcs failure lights up on the dash. Happens semi often. Dealer states they can't fix it but to bring it in when it happens again. The truck brakes for ghosts as i drive down the highway. They can't fix this either.

Driving at 45mph comming upon an empty intersection with a stop light. Brakes came on and warnings flashed yet nothing in front of me.

Trailer brakes are no longer functioning lost gain output to trailer brakes. While riding down the highway for 2 hours the worrying came up saying - no trailer -came on, in the heads up display what i got home i used my fluke meter to determine that i had no output to the trailer brakes.

Pre-collision system warning and "brake" warning light keeps coming on and warning me for no reason, toyota have repealed the sensor 3 times so far and the system keeps failing, my biggest concern is the vehviae will start braking for no reason and end up getting rear ended by another vehicle.this been happing since we bought the truck, pictures shows all warning over the last 14000 miles.

2018 tundra integrated brake controller intermittently disconnects truck from trailer when attempting to brake. Truck brakes stop are activated but trailer is disconnected. Tires begin to smoke and there is a burning smell from the tiresnot being able to slow or stop the trailer. We have taken 4 trips and it happens on all of them. Toyota dealership said they don't have a fix. Hundreds of the same complaint on the internet. This form only allows date entry for one incident. But the occurrence is every trip. In fact, we don't have brakes connection now and toyota dealership says they don't have a fix.

The contact owns a 2018 toyota tundra. While driving 25 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal noise coming from the rear driver's side wheel. While approaching an intersection, the brakes seized without warning when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed that the brake caliper was tangled in the wheel. The contact attempted to drive the vehicle with the emergency brake activated, but it caused more damage to the rim and rear driver's side wheel. Team toyota of glen mills (1050 baltimore pike, glen mills, pa 19342, (484) 407-0835) diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that someone tampered with the brake system, which caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 1906060300. The failure mileage was 13,900.

On a quick hard braking..applies brake then without lifting brake pedal pressure the.truck automatically releases it and slides forwardsome distance...the vehicle was in motion...this has happen twice before....this time ran into a turning vehicle

Pre collision sensor light comes on at various times dash reads "pre collision unavailable" car has 500 miles on it and is a week old, i have taken car to the dealer and was told it should only happen if the vehicle was in an accident, it was not in an accident, the sensor comes on and off at various times, speeds.

The precollision warnig system keeps malfunctioning for no reason.i have them replace 3 sensors, windshield camera and full safety harnesses already. Hundreds f others have this issue.even the regional tech for toyota has given up and told me to call toyota corporate.but corporate says it doesn't effect the safety of the vehicle.the system doesn't work when it's malfunctioning, meaning someone will get hit without the safety system engaging.happens all the time sunny day, raining, hot or cold. Been happening since june in first 1000 miles of ownership

The vehicle does not recognize the trailer braking system.vehicle trailer braking system not working

The intrinsic trailer brake controller did not work properly.the gain could not be set initially.the dealership computer system could not detect the problem.the only way the problem was recognized was by attaching a trailer or a trailer simulator to the truck.the dealership noted that all the 2018 tundra trucks on their lot had the same problem.this is a serious problem that could lead to accidents if the driver is not aware that the trailer braking system is not working.we were persistent and the dealership did replace the controller with one that did work.however, this controller could not be ordered from toyota, but only from the supplier that makes them for toyota.after our truck was affected, we found many reports of the same problem on this truck.this problem was detected immediately after we purchased the truck by the technician who installed the gooseneck hitch.

Pre collision light comes on with the vehicle only having 300 miles on it. Cycle on and off to reset but the light stays on. Recommend replacing the wiring harness to the pcs. Polled other 2018 tundras and 85% of the them are having the same issue. The february recall did not fix this issue. Light will come on once the truck has been turned on.

Toyota unable to perform safety recall fix. Engine noise unable to fix

Loss of dynamic radar-controlled cruise control: clean sensor, once on city street, then i stopped and restarted the vehicle, it cleared itself, then a few minutes down the road stopped at a stop sign.it came back on.i checked my vin# and my truck is not listed for the same recall that i have seen others get.

The contact owns a 2018 toyota tundra. While driving various speeds with the cruise control engaged, the pre-collision system malfunction warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the warning indicator remained illuminated even after the cruise control was disabled. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.

The pre collision warning light illuminates a various times. The cruise control will not work when illuminated. The sensor has been kept clean. It does not give a failure code at the dealer. It was reprogramed. The pre collision braking was a major feature in my buying process and it does not work correctly.

The pcs "pre-collision system" shuts off all the time! when cruise control is on and is supposed to slow down by itself when there's another car in front of you actually accelerates my vehicle that can create a severe accident by crashing into the vehicle in front of me! the system is designed on the radar base system that is supposed to slow down the vehicle to avoid an accident and it actually speeds it up which can cause a fatality!

Driving at 45mph comming upon an empty intersection with a stop light. Brakes came on and warnings flashed yet nothing in front of me.

When its moist out. The cruise will auto cancel itself and the pcs failure lights up on the dash. Happens semi often. Dealer states they can't fix it but to bring it in when it happens again. The truck brakes for ghosts as i drive down the highway. They can't fix this either.

The avoidance collision radar can be intermittent.sometime, it detects the vehicle in front of me, then stop working and my truck will accelerate towards the vehicle in front of me.at other time, the warning light will come on, saying the sensor needs to be cleaned, even though the windshield is spotless and drop my truck out of cruise control, causing a quick de-acceleration.i was in front of a semi-truck going at highway speed when this happened and the semi-truck came close to hitting me in the rear end.i've had this into my toyota dealer and they told me that the vehicle software does not record when the collision avoidance system isn't working.i consider this problem to be extremely dangerous and have avoided using my cruise control most of the time.
