Takata recallhave been getting calls and mailers for a few of years. Have called the dealership many time,. But have never received 'any'positive or negativeresponse from them.

Recalls have been issued for faulty spiral cables effecting airbag malfunction on model year 2009-2010 corolla, 2009-2010 matrix, 2008-2010 highlander, 2009-2010 tacoma, 2006-2008 rav4 and 2006-2010 yaris vehicles.my 2009 tundra crewmax that i just bought has this problem and has had it for two years according to the previous owner.why is the tundra left out of these recalls when obviously it is a problem with all toyota autos in this time period

The contact owns a 2009 toyota tundra. When the ignition was started the contact observed that the air bag warning light remained in the off position. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two occasions in which there were no service repairs performed for the malfunction. The technician stated that the fire extinguisher positioned on the floor of the vehicle caused the air bag to become nonfunctional. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the third time for the identical failure. The technician recalibrated the air bag and it functioned properly for one week. The contact scheduled an appointment with an authorized dealer for the consistent failure. The failure mileage was 12,132.

Reporting a safety issue regarding the ecm, wire harness, and a sensor attached to the transmission.in particular, a transmission sensor failed and allowed a transmission fluid to wick its way through the wire harness and into the computer for the truck. In this case, this caused the truck'sstarter to engage when the lights for the vehicle were turned on, regardless of whether or not the truck was already running. Additionally, the truck would not stop running, even when the key was disengaged from the ignition.upon attempting to drive the vehicle in the daylight to the dealership for service, the truck died in the middle of my street, just after pulling out of my driveway. After having the truck for a few days, the dealership determined that transmission fluid had gotten into the computer and that this was most likely the cause for the problem. The technician showed me the computer, turned it upside down, and i could see the fluid dripping out. The total cost of repairs was $3,855.95.i filed a complaint with toyota customer care, which was denied citing the fact that the truck was out of warranty. Toyota did not issue a written response, and i simply received a phone call to tell me that the claim was denied. I explained that an issue such as this does not happen over night and this fluid could have been leaking into the computer for years.the toyota representative did not care about this factor the potential issue withfluid getting into the truck's computer. A faulty computer, damaged by transmission fluid could cause a number of safety issues.in the case of my truck, it was the fact that the vehicle would not turn off when the key was removed. It would be greatly appreciated if nhtsa could look into this.i am available for any questions or follow up. Thank you.

I was the operator of the vehicle on my driveway when the engine suddenly accelerated. The accelerator was wide open while i was hard on the brakes. I was able to put the gear shift into park, and once i did the engine stopped its acceleration. I was onhard concrete, thus the rear wheels spun freely without catching traction. The vehicle left roughly 30" of front and rear wheel marks. The vehicle has run normally since the incident.

Toyota tundra 2009:toyota requiring customer to pay for repair of defective floor mat that slides forward and jams accelerator pedal.accelerating to speed on on-ramp.removed foot from pedal after merging onto interestate, but vehicle continued to accelerate.had to pry back accelerator pedal with foot and then noticed that mat had jammed accelerator pedal.all-weather floor-mat purchased as part of vehicle.this could have caused serious injury.removed floor mat as indicated by initial recall.contacted toyota dealership as part of pedal/floor mat recall.told that i would have to purchase separate retainer to secure floor-mat.does not make sense to have a recall and then insist that customers pay for their failures and defects.the safety retainer should have came with the vehicle.it does in other vehicles.

The headlights on 2007-current toyota tundra's are very blinding. Every time i approach on of those tundra's it looks as if their high beams are on and i am always constantly flashing them thinking they left their high beams on, but i become shocked when they flash me back ( with their actual high beams).i drive in a suv, so if they are blinding me, i can't imagine what it looks like in a car! its very hard to try staying on road when they go past its so bright, a couple times i actually went off the road a little. I think this is a seriously safety issue for night drivers, every single tundra is like this. Now i know truck headlights may appear to be a little bit brighter because they sit higher, but i have yet to see any other truck even come close to the brightness on the tundra's. It would be great if this matter was checked into, who knows how many people have gone off the road when these ugly trucks roll by.

Air injection system failed while driving up hill.vehicle would only drive on flat or downhill, no more than 35 mph.toyota had an extended warranty of 10 yrs or 150k. Which our vehicle is 103k and 10 years 1 month.toyota would not fit us into the warranty.

My 2009 toyota tundra frequently stalls after slowing from high way speed for a turn onto a side road or after braking to a slow speed while driving after which i normally reaccerlate.this is a 5.7 l i-force v8, 6 speed automatic trans.

Truck gets a bump after coming to a stop. Sometimes it's gets a really hard bump and sometimes it's just a little bump. I kept thinking i got hit as it is very noticeable. No one seems to know why, but i do know this, it only happens when the a/c is running. I believe it's a computer software problem. It took a couple of years because i found out it only happens when the weather gets warm and i use the a/c. Seems like quite a few people are having the same problem and the dealer is saying "i don't know anything" because they can't duplicate the problem, however i seem to be able to duplicate it all the time.

Purchased a 2009 toyota tundra with 67 miles on it, at about 12,000 miles it started to make a dragging sound from the front drive train. Took it to the dealer and they said that they could not hear or find anything wrong with it. Had it back another time for inspection and mentioned noise again but still they could not "hear anything". I have been driving the truck since then with the noise coming and subsiding, the truck now has 46,000 miles on it and the noise has gotten progressively worse with vibrations on the highway. The seven year warranty ran out and i'm sure that if i take it back to the dealer they will now hear the noise. I looked at online forums and this seems to be a common problem with these trucks, toyota has to know there is a problem. I don't know why there has not been a recall to fix the problem when there are so many complaints.

The contact owns a 2009 toyota tundra. While approaching a stop sign or depressing the brake pedal at speeds of at least 25 mph, there would be a sudden abnormal increase in the rpms. The vehicle would also lunge forward while shifting gears. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised him that the transmission on his particular model was operating as designed. No repairs were made to the vehicle, however the failure persisted and progressively became worse. The failure and current mileages were approximately 7,816.updated 04/05/10the cosumer stated there was a harsh shift/ hesitation from 1st to 2nd gear.updated 09/13/10

I have a 2009 toyota tundra with the 5.7l engine and 6 speed auto transmission.intermittent shifting occurs as slow speeds, with the vehicle acting like the transmission is in neutral.this has caused serious concern when trying to accelerate and could lead to a potential accident.i have also had this occur on slick surfaces, with the engine revving up before the transmission engages.this has caused extreme tire slippage and risk of losing control.i have had this truck into the dealership three times and have had their quality team look at it, with no satisfactory resolution.other owners of tundras are also reporting this same phenomena, and concerns, with no resolution from toyota.we all need your help to get corrective action put in place.an accident is waiting to happen, if it already hasn't.

The current mileage was 31,324 and the failure mileage was 30,000.updated 8/30/11 the consumer stated when depressing the gas pedal at approximately 10 mph. The engine revved up but the vehicle failed to accelerate for 6-7 seconds as the transmission searched for the correct gear. Updated 10/03/11

Brake pedal suddenly turned soft and goes all the way down before it starts to grab. Put in new pads all around, new master cylinder and had system completely bled, problem still there. Checked out toyota tundra forums and this seems to be a problem on these trucks, only has 63,000 miles. Everyone says that it is an abs module problem costing over $2000.00 to fix.

Bed of truck is rusting from bottom up first notified toyota 11/04/2016had a dealer look at it sorry about by luck they will not cover it only had 38,794 mileon it always had a cap on it and was inside and rarely drove.

Truck has extreme vibration, bounce and overall shake at freeway speeds as felt throughout the vehicle. This combined with the very light steering and accelerator effort leads to a very unstable feeling of not being in control of the vehicle. It is difficult to maintain even and steady accelerator pressure and steering direction. Dealership has rotated and balanced tires and performed alignment, but has made zero difference.

I had the accelerator stick two times recently. My tires spun very fast and i almost took off into a very busy highway. I would have been killed if i didn't quickly put the truck in neutral until the engine revved down. This is a helpless feeling and something is not right with the manufacturing of the truck.

The check engine light came on in my vehicle during a five mile trip to work and is still on. The diagnostic code revealed a fault in an air valve. After some research i discovered that toyota issued an extended warranty on this part because of a known issue affecting the same year/make/model as my tundra. I called the dealership to ask about the repair process as i was within the 10 year/150k mile extended warranty period. They stated the part was replaced in 2014. I was then directed to call toyota customer service. Customer service told me they could not honor the extended warranty because the part was already replaced. I do not have faith that replacing the part will fix my truck in the long run. Toyota obviously identified a fault with their trucks and extended the warranty on a known bad part. But, this did not fix the truck. The same problem has come back again after the part was replaced at a toyota dealership only four years ago. I believe that even if i have the truck fixed, the problem will persist every couple of years. I believe toyota should be liable for replacing the part.

The contact owns 2009 toyota tundra. Since the vehicle was purchased it began accelerating without warning whenever he made a left or right turn and while driving 60 mph. The contact had to shift into neutral gear and apply the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle each time the failure occurred.the dealer made some repairs; however, the contact doesn't know what components were repaired or replaced. The failure has recurred since the vehicle was repaired and the transmission has recently began making a noise and the vehicle lunged forward. The dealer advised the contact that they were unable to trade the vehicle for a new one. The failure mileage was 0 and the current mileage 20,000. The manufacturer was notified; however, they did not file a report on the failure.
