Read complaints for TOYOTA TACOMA (2016)

Interior leaking when it rains or whenever vehicle gets wet. A health hazard, safety concern, and potential risk to passengers as well. Cause of problem is defective 3rd brake light seal. Of course toyota make it almost impossible to easily replace the light or seal as you have to remove the interior ceiling to get to bolts. Sad i bought this vehicle new and it leaks water but since warranty just ended, they will not even think about fixing this issue. If a lawsuit results about of this count me in, hopefully a recall takes place soon because duct tape can only do so much plus who wants to drive around with duct tape on the 3rd brake light.

Takata recall - i've not had a problem yet, but am concerned about the possibilities

2016 toyota tacoma purchased from stokes brown toyota new. The seatbelt airbag light for passenger side front seat blinks continually even when vehicle is parked and off.

My husband and i were driving home on a snowy night when our car slipped and slid down an embankment almost into a river. Luckily, our car was stopped by a large boulder right at the waters edge. Unbeknownst to us at the time, we had stopped completely out of the water however we were not sure because every airbag in our car deployed, covering all of the windows. Immediately after we hit the boulder, we tried relentlessly to get out of both front doors as well as the back door, however we were unable to get to the door handles because the airbags did not deflate as they should have. At that point, my husband was able to rip through his front door airbag to reach the handle and get both of us out of the car safely. My biggest fear is that if we had ended up in the river we would have drowned due to malfunctioning airbags.

I bought the vehicle and realized when i was sold the vehicle the passenger airbag off indicator was on but i thought it would be a quick connection error. The front driver side headlight is very dim and does not illuminate well. I contacted crown dodge of fayetteville and they told me they can't do anything. This was a little over a month after because life happens and i work with the military. I don't have a regular schedule. I do have a warranty but i'm not using my warranty to cover something theyshould fix. When i called to talk to a sales manager no one would answer it rang and rang. The computer on the vehicle will show the air bag sensor at least.

Was told by the mechanic that there was a bulletin to replace if an issue before the 3 years 36,000 miles.have had the truck for 4.5 years and now the bsm left side needs to be replaced.only have 26,567 miles on the truck!if they had an issue, why aren't they replacing them if the issues happen within the 36,000.

I recently purchased a 2106 toyota tacoma, this vehicle has been owned for about 4 months and has less than 4,000 miles on it. I was alerted of a check engine light and took this to the dealer for repairs. I was told that the wiring harness had been chewed by a rodent and this was very common at this dealership. I didn't think anything of it until i went online and notice thousands having the same issue. This is not just a one time thing or a chance occurrence. There are several pending class action lawsuits against toyota for defective wiring and engine components that are made of a soy based product that is a principal source of some rodents diet. This makes the engine components irresistible to rodents. Honda, toyota and ford have all been experiencing higher than normal issues with this since switching to this product. What makes this worse is that there is no solution to the problem. I cannot move or relocate because of the wildlife, squirrels are everywhere. Additionally, the dealership snickered with put some moth balls or make some homemade rodent repellent. Unfortunately whatever spray or toxic repellent you use around the engine, will eventually be breathed into the cabin which could become deadly.this also could affect drive that are in motion or could leave them stranded on the side of the road. Luckily for me, my car was parked and i was alerted by the check engine light and able to drive the vehicle to the dealership. Of course the dealership did not cover this on the warranty and toyota could not be reached for comment directly due to pending litigation. This has cost me over 3,000 dollars in repairs and there is no telling how many more time i will have to pay this before toyota fixes this problem.

My abs light failure came on and said check with dealer. Three days later taken to dealership and electrical harness had been chewed by rodents. It is requiring $5000 to replace this component. I have had this truck for one month and brand new. The vehicle was stationery in driveway when eaten.

It cost me $850.00 because toyota used soy based wiring on my vehicle.a rat chewed wires under the hood causing this damage.there are class action suits against toyota for this problem.

After 10,000 miles the airbag light came on. Then the next day the check engine light came on as well as the traction control. Called the dealership and they looked at it saying i just need new sensors. Drove it a couple more days and noticed the cruise control was non existent. I drive a lot for work and use it a ton and all of a sudden it wouldn't even bring the light on or work at all. The next day started driving and the real issues started. Turned truck on; same problems i have been having; then the truck would not shift. Kept going and going till i was getting to 5000rpm and it shifted with a tremendous amount of force. Once it shifted the whole truck did a huge jerk then went a little more an did a double shift totally bypassing the 3rd gear. I turned it off and started it again. Kept having the same problem all day. I called the dealership and they said get it to them when i could and they would take a look. Almost caused several accidents trying to get the brand new $35,000 truck that didn't work to the dealership almost running into the people in front of me who cut me off because i can't go over 40mph on the freeway and i have no control of the violent shifting moving the whole truck. Needless to say the dealership tried to blame me for all of these problems that i could not have possibly cause if i tried and that my brand new truck with 10,000miles on it was fine just needed a couple sensors. Obviously this is not working and i think sensors are the least of the worries.

Audio system resets on its own and displays "check charging station". I had dealer look into it and they said that usb cables were defective.i thought they were looking into all possibilities and purchased new usb cables.not the case, it still happens from time to time and does not work properly. As written by many other tacoma owners, the shifting delay from reverse to drive and vice versa.i have 7000 miles on the truck and toyota said there was a break in period for the transmission.they told me i had the most up to date software for the transmission.i should've never traded in my 6spd.

Just concerned about the recall that has not been resolve yet???? when will the issue be taken care of????

Are used to this functioning and it stops on the freeway.

In the middle of feb 2021 the driver's side (factory) seat heater stopped heating. The seat heater button still operated normally with regard to lights, etc.i removed the seat and discovered that the connector between the seat heater wiring harness and the seat heater amplifier had electrically arced (red wire) and melted the connector together. (note: the passenger side heater is unaffected. Also note: the fuse for this circuit did not burn up as it should have when the current surged causing the melted connector.) upon doing research this is apparently not an unheard of problem on this year/model tacoma. I have uploaded photos. There are three issues here: 1) a clear design flaw, 2) this is a safety issue, it could have caused a fire, and 3)it likely affects the entire fleet of tacomas in this year range. My belief is that this rises to the level of a recall and have talked to both the dealer and corporate about it. Toyota has agreed to pay half the cost of repairs, and i have agreed to this, (although they also claim to have never heard of this problem before). Toyota case #: 2103011304

The bluetooth on the iphone 11 pro max and the tacoma are not communicating causinga safety issue, because i can not talk hands free as i am suppose have the ability to do so.the entire headset will turn off and on constantly , the only way to stop this is to either turn off the bluetooth on the iphone or remove the iphone from the tacoma. I have read on line that many people are having the same issue and either toyota or apple is doing anything to resolve it, causing a saftey issue.

Fan blower motor failed , no ac/heat or defrost as a result. .

My truck was running fine with no problems. Then one morning i went to crank it and it would not start. All it did was turn over and over. I had to have a wrecker come to my house and take it to my local toyota dealership. They kept my truck for a week and never did come up with a reason for what happened. They replaced the dash harness and the computer. They said that something had shorted out the harness and computer. It cost me almost 3000 dollars to get my truck back. My truck only had 15,406 miles on it. They tried to tell me that lightning had hit my truck. But there was no proof of it. This all sounds like a defect in the harness but i cantprove it. Help please !

Truck with only 8000 miles has over 3000 dollars damage from rodents chewing on wiring....research online shows that there are class action suits as many people are experiencing this problem of rodents being attracting to "soy based wiring".when i paid almost 40,000 dollars for a new truck , i mistakenly thought id be trouble free for at least 3 yrs or 36000 miles...i have insurance but must pay 1000 dollars deductable and without truck for approx 3 weeks and now also the possibilityof this recurring again. Im sure the intentions were good with the soy based wiring...ie, less plastic in landfills....but while this problem has always happened, never this often and repeadedly...a simple google search of toyota soy wiring should enlighten anyone ...

My dealership has had my truck for over8 weeks and has given me no indication when it will be repaired or when i will get it back.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. When the vehicle was started, the check engine and traction control off warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to freeman toyota (2875 corby ave, santa rosa, ca 95407, (707) 535-2330) where it was diagnosed that rodents entered the engine compartment and chewed on the camshaft sensor wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 21,600.

The trac off and check engine lights come on periodically. I have to disconnect the battery and take the gas cap off and put it back on and reconnect the battery when it happens. Its a pain in the butt. I thought i saw a recall for the gas cap seal to correct the problem, but the dealership said nope.

Blind spot monitor (bsm) - from the first day i drove the truck off the lot, the bsm error message came on.this has been an ongoing issue and the error light comes on at least 3-4 times per week while driving.during my first service, the service technician said that they needed to replace a bad sensor.its been almost 4 months and i still have not received a call back by the dealer's service department to bring my truck in for the sensor replacement.

Vehicle has been jerking itself while driving at both low speeds and high speeds. Had taken it to the dealership sept.2020 in order to get the ecu/pcm reflashed/updated to resolve issue; issue persists. Now, at highway speeds, 80% of the time it will be jerking itself, as off being momentarily shut off and on. Caused my rear end to fish tail on highway.

Toyota pushed an ota (over-the-air) that caused firmware and completely disables the onboard navigation. Presently, i now have 'driver easy speak' out of the blue and that the 'software is incompatible' on my head unit's display. This upload has disabled various toyota models across the board. Contact with various toyota dealers has been a waste of time. A letter sent to toyota corporate has been fruitless. The dealer wants to replace the navigation unit for $1000!

Electrical wiring/connector for the heated seat module located under the driver seat overheated or arced causing the connector (s) to melt posing a safety hazard and rendering the heated seat inoperable.

Driving home approximately 20 miles on a 2 lane highway (speed limit of 50mph) and noticed the oem/factory installed driver heated seat stopped working.proceeded to smell burnt plastic but it was late at night and i convinced myself that nothing out of the normal had occurred since my passenger did not seem concerned.the following day i did a bit of research and tested the heated seat which no longer got warm like the passenger side.underneath the seat is an "amplifier" for the heated seat which looks to have shorted out.both the amplifier and the male electrical connector had burnt/melted on one of the terminals.the plug looks completely ruined and i presume the amplified is now broken.all other fuses and electrical connections appeared fine.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While driving at various speeds, the estimated mpg displayed on the message board was inaccurate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle; however, the computer was reset. The technician also stated that the estimated mpg of fuel consumption was not calculated when the vehicle was idling. The failure persisted and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 1,000.

This car has shut off twice while driving.first time while towing a boat... While turning left on a high speed two lane road and second while going 45 towards a green light.both times the car just shut off. We could have been killed...twice!toyota says"fixed' the problem "twice".we asked them to buy the car back after the second time, as we no longer felt safe in it.......they refused.as a gesture of "good will" they offered us an extended warranty, which we had already gotten when we purchased the car so it was pointless.we created a case with them after it occurred the second time.the most recentrecall that addresses this issue does not include this model year and it needs to.someone is going to die..this is a very serious issue.we are now stuck with a car that we don't feel safe in but toyota would not do the right thing.hopefully by us reporting our problem it will save someone else life.

Varmint/rodent damage.dealer discovered rodent nesting and wire harnesses chewed and destroyed.cost of repairs are going to be about $1197.97 plus cost of tow and cost of rental for +/- 2 weeks.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While operating the vehicle with the driver's seat heater in the on position, the heater failed to operate. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the electrical module for the heated seat had malfunctioned and melted. The manufacturer was notified and advised that the vehicle be taken to the local dealer (summit toyota, 1535 vernon odom blvd, akron, ohio). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 36,000.

My bsm sensors were blinking and a notice came up on the console to check bsm indicators.i manually turned off this function and back on---the light was blinking and the bsm sensors were still not working correctly. When i brought it in the dealership today they did some tests and looked at it and said they needed to replace the bsm wire harness because of water damage getting into the rear bumper.the estimate was for 1,0588.49 for repare. I think if toyota is selling blind spot monitors as a safety feature, they should last more than 2 years and needs to be recalled. This is an off road vehicle?this seems like a common problem after researching it online and it's a safety hazard, not to mention the vehicle is only 2 years old.

My wife and i drove from austin texas to arkadelphi arkansas due to me getting out of the army'active' and my truck had been slowly studderjng, spitting etc.. Well it is stalled at a parking lot for a week now.. There is a recall for the 'crankshaft position sensor' for my exact mode and toyota will not honor my truck for it and that's the code it's reading etc..

On 11/23/15 i was able to take possession of the vehicle.on 11/24/15 i got into the vehicle to crank it up when the vehicle's warning lights of brake, abs warning to check the anti'lock brake system and check brake system and the antiskid/traction lights came on at approximate 110 miles.i immediately called the dealership and was told that it would not hurt the vehicle to drive it and that it was safe.i was told that it was probably just a fuse by a salesperson, who allegedly talked to one of the master technicians about the situation.on 11/30/15 i also reported that the cruise control was also not working to the service department when i arrive at the dealership.the vehicle was diagnosed with a bad left rear speed sensor at 185 miles and again that the vehicle was safe to drive.on 12/04/15 at 334 miles the sensor was replaced.as i was going home on the interstate highway and less than 10 miles away, the same lights and warning readouts came back on.i immediately turned the vehicle around and proceeded back to the dealership.on my way back to the dealership while slowing down, a loud metallic banging/rattle could be heard coming from the rear end.when i got back to the dealership, i explained the same symptoms happened again as before and that now clanging/rattle in the rear end had developed to the service manager.at approximately 4:00p.m., i received a call from the service department and was told that a rear wheel bearing was not installed correctly from the factory, that it had done some damage and that the parts were ordered.i expressed my concerns about possible other damage such as the brakes, tire, sensors or the rear housing and safety of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While attempting to accelerate on an incline, a cranking noise and a tapping noise were heard from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (colonial toyota in milford, ct), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v356000 (engine). The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

It's important to note that i own two identical 2016 tacoma trd off road automatic and both have less than 10,000 miles.one is fine and the other has serious power train (engine/transmission) problems resulting in extremely slow acceleration and overall sluggish performance, transmission constantly shifting to compensate for lack of power, transmission slow to engage gears causing dangeroushesitation and surge, occasionally slamming into gear causing sudden jerk and lunge, cruise control in unusable due to constant gear hunting even on flat highway, vehicle is very unsafe in stop and go traffic due to hesitation and surging, and merging into traffic and busy high speed highway travel is a nightmare.the following business day after taking delivery i brought to dealer with the above complaints and was told that the computer needed to lean my driving style and it would take up to 5,000 miles. At one pointdealership service tech, service adviser, and service manager acknowledged the problems and i was told that toyota was already aware and working on a flash upgrade that they hoped would fix.i was told that i had no choice but to drive the vehicle and wait for the flash.dealership personnel now deny any problems. I filed a claim with toyota and dealer nowrefuses to try and fix the problems. This model is being shipped with very low transmission fluid according to the service tech which is certain to diminish the life of the transmission. He also said that something is wrong with the torque converter. I have filed a claim for repurchase but dealership is uncooperative and toyota reports that after reviewing my claim that they were unable to verify any of my concerns. There are many owners reporting to be experiencing the same problems and to date toyota has done nothing to resolve that i am aware of.

Just concerned about the recall that has not been resolve yet???? when will the issue be taken care of????

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 17v356000 (engine) and nhtsa campaign number: 17v285000 (power train) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer for over four months waiting for parts to become available. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that parts for the repair were in limited supply; therefore, the wait would be longer than expected. The failure mileage was 10,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available and parts distribution disconnect.

Driving on the interstate 70 mph, engine quits. 2 dash lights come on truck maxes out at 40mph out of nowhere. Pulled over shut truck off and started it up no ran fine note: check eng light is now on. Bad gas diagnosis. Gas replaced happens 1 more time. Diagnosed with bad fuel injectors not covered under extended warranty, cause was bad gas. The loss of power happened 2 other times.

The problems described below have been reported to my dealer gullo toyota in conroe, tx.the dealer is aware that this model truck has been recalled for rear differential failure and misfiring and stalling.while driving east on fm1097 between lake conroe and willis, tx on 2/06/18, i was required to make a quick stop.a loud bump sound came from beneath the truck.prior to this stop, the engine had been misfiring from-time-to-time.after the quick stop and the bump sound came from beneath the truck, the engine started misfiring at a constant and violent rate for a distance of about 1 mile.my truck has been making an unusual bump sound which occurs shortly after coming to a stop since i bought it in 2016.the truck has also been misfiring for as long as i have owned it.i am afraid that the bump may be due to loose or broken motor or transmission mounts, loose suspension bolts or the gas tank may be shifting.the misfire may indicate that a fuel line is being restricted when the gas tank shifts position.a pinched or deformed gas line may be starving the fuel pump and causing the engine to misfire.since the bump sound is delayed and occurs after coming to a stop, it suggest to me that the gas tank may be the cause since the gasoline in the tank is in motion after the truck comes to a stop. I need toyota to take this defective truck in and repair it for this and all the other problems i have previously reported to toyota.toyota needs to provide me with a loaner truck while my truck is being repaired.i have left my truck with toyota 5 times for the misfire and toyota has not every provided me with a loaner vehicle.i need a loaner truck while my truck is being repaired.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start-up immediately while attempting to start the vehicle. Several attempts were needed for the vehicle to start-up. The failure recurred five times within three days. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic nor a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Brought vehicle in to dealership( northway toyota) for recall notice, and vehicle stalling. They supposedly repaired it, but vehicle is doing the exact same thing, stallingand malfunction indicators are on. Contacted the dealership but no one will return my call. I don't think they did anything to my vehicle the first time.

Vehicle lunges like a bucking bronc at wot from stop or rolling start.if it was a carbureted vehicle (pre-computer days) i would check timing, carburetor jets, fuel filter, etc. Seems to be a little better in sport mode or ect in drive.

Hesitation upon acceleration at times.

Chirping noise comes and goes. Very loud. Also a constant clicking. Anything that makes noise like that will fail soon. Also had a grinding noise while in four wheel drive on beach and truck started to lose power.grinding went away but happens often.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 17v356000 (engine); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. While driving on the freeway, the vehicle started lurching and loosing power then abruptly shut off.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While driving 10 mph and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to moss bro toyota of moreno valley (12630 motor way, moreno valley, ca 92555) for a routine oil change and mentioned the failure to the technician. The contact was informed that the failure was normal. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v356000 (engine) and 17v285000 (power train); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

While driving straight on a busy three-lane city street, while the vehicle was in motion, i heard a "beep" sound,"brake override malfunction" appeared of my dashboard display, i lost the ability to accelerate, and the engine came to a slow idle. Since i did not have the ability to accelerate, i could only coast to the right hand side of the street. Since there was no shoulder lane on this street, my vehicle came to a stop in the right hand lane, blocking the lane of traffic for some time until two gentlemen came to assist me with pushing my vehicle out of danger. Repair took 10 business days since they did not know how to repair the vehicle initially (repair invoice will be provided upon request). Two days after i picked up my truck from the dealership, the battery died in a parking lot. I'm not sure if the battery defect is related to the "brake override malfunction".

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v356000 (engine); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called poe toyota (915-775-2000 located at 6330 montana ave, el paso, tx 79925) where it was confirmed that the parts were to be available in two weeks. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

When my a/c stopped working during the warranty period, i had it checked at glens falls toyota where i was told the condensor needed replacement. They determined that the hole had been caused by a rock kicked up by the vehicle and that it would not be covered under warranty. I am concerned about this policy, as there are many other engine components that - like the a/c condensor - are not shielded on this off-road capable vehicle. My vehicle has never been driven off-road.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated the vehicle experienced hesitation and the engine de-powering. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that once the accelerator pedal was depressed before the vehicle recognized the speed the software caused the engine to de-power for intervals of one to two seconds before the vehicle would operate normally. A remedy was not disclosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,005.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v356000 (engine) and 17v285000 (power train). The dealer (all star toyota, 9150 airline hwy, baton rouge, la 70815, (225) 490-7608) had been unable to determine when the remedy and parts may be supplied for the repairs. The dealer indicated that nhtsa campaign number: 17v356000 (engine) was completed but the contact had no record of the repair from the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted concerning the two recall repairs. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Crank position sensor-truck was in motion on a city street when it bucked and stalled. It started again and i was able to make it a block to my mom's house/garage, where i keep my truck. As i was pulling into the garage, it bucked and stalled again. I replaced the cps (crank position sensor) because i didn't want my truck towed to the dealership. It cost me $110 buck. I'm really glad i wasn't out camping or in traffic when this occurred, as it could have been a much worse situation.

'takita recall ' several times i have taken my pickup to the dealer for a cling, spring sound when you are applybrakes. And the engine has loud ticking sound .the first time they said it was how the vehicle was made. There is anoise coming from the front end especially when you are on a bad road disclose they cant hear anything. Took it back again they said they can't find nothing even to the brake noise that they said was a part of how the vehicle was made. They take your vehicle have it for two days then pretend to work on it then give it back to you and never find anything. Then you the customer have to experience these annoying unsafe experiences. You get so discouraged because they never can find anything and when they do is how the vehicle is made then by the time you keep going back and with the same respond the warranty is close to end. Last time i took the pickup in was january 28,2019 and they returned it on the 30th with no document to what they did.

All of the problems listed below have been reported to my local toyota dealership, gullo toyota, conroe, texas. 1) engine misfires (5 attempts at repair. Still misfires.).2) vehicle stalls due to transmission searching for the correct gear (developed after the last attempt to repair misfire in september 2016).2) engine has developed a rattle after 20,000 + miles and sometimes sounds like a rod is knocking.sounds like engine is not being lubricated properly.this may lead to early failure of the smog control system and excessive oil consumption (toyota claims this is normal for this truck).3) bump sound comes from beneath truck when stopping and may be loose or broken motor or transmission mount (toyota stated that the truck is operating as designed).4) grinding sound comes from rear end when rear wheels slip and automatic limited slip is selected (toyota has stated that the truck is operating as designed).5) engine revs unexpectedly when backing out of or driving into garage (toyota has stated that the truck is operating as designed).6) loud bang comes from beneath truck when coming to a quick stop.sounds like the guts of the transmission shift forward (dealership has not arranged to provide a loaner truck so that this problem and all the persistent problems listed above can be repaired.toyota insist that i bring my truck to the dealership and drive my truck around and demonstrate the existence of these problems to the toyota's field service tech. Dealership is aware that this truck has been recalled for rear differential problems and engine misfire and stalling.i need the dealership to accept responsibility for this defective truck and take it into their service department and keep it until it is repaired.i need a loaner truck while the repairs are made. I have put much needed work on-hold for a year due to this truck.).

Car hesitates when needing to accelerate rapidly. While slowing down the car feels like it is pushing ,not down shifting fast enough. The differential bang at time when coming to a stop, it seems like it is not disengaging. I think there is a programming issue that toyota is not admitting to. I also heard that there is a blower issue. The transmission disengages at different speeds when you go to accelerate then don't and then do. Car goes into neurtal hunting for a gear

Erratic transmission shifting. Lurches in low gears, delay when shifting from reverse to drive, stays in 4th gear after cresting a hill, unable to stay in 6th gear while cruising at highway speeds on level ground without load in vehicle.

Knocking noise from vacuum pump after engine is warm. Base on the nhtsa id 10133645 - toyota technical service bulleting t-sb-0316-17. Because of the safety hazard involve in the probably defective part, and because of my medical condition at the time of the toyota service bulleting i could not take the vehicle for the technicalservice bulleting to de toyota dealer until 11/18/2019 ( after the applicable warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles - customer number 192461 at adriel auto in rio grande puerto rico. There the vehicle was inspected by a technician# 443901. At the moment of the inspection the techniciandid not found the condition that i was concern about. I was told that that knocking sound from the vacuum pump was normal. That i should not to be worry about it. Because of my medical condition and treatment.i was not able to follow up my complaint at toyota de puerto rico. Now that i am feeling a little bit better i am reporting this to you with the hope that a solution be found. I have never own a vehicle from any manufacturer that had such a knocking sound from the vacuum pump. I am concern about my safety and the safety of others if my brake system fails and someone gets injure or kill. It is my perception that the knocking noise from the vacuum pump is a safety hazard and that toyota corporation must replace the defective part. My vehicle have only 10,000 miles because of my illness and also because i do not feel safe driving it. I know i am abit late to report this condition on my vehicle and that the warranty period have expire. But the problem persist, as a remedy i am requesting that all of the toyota vehicles that present this knocking noise from vacuum pump should be recall an repair under an extended warranty. Thank you

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v356000 (engine) and 17v285000 (power train) however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer lithia toyota of redding located at 250 e cypress ave, redding, ca 96002; (530) 605-2938 and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was not contacted and was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Noticed my tacoma being slow to down shift to a lower gear when trying to accelerate or it would up shift to a higher gear while accelerating/merging resulting in an unexpected change in acceleration.also if riding between 20-40 mph the vehicle rides at a very low rpm (~1100) and shimmies the vehicle like it will stall. Vehicle will also "noticeably" down shift while the foot is off the accelerator resulting in an unexpected change in deceleration. The problem seems to be getting worse and now the shifting is starting to jolt the vehicle.while driving at constant speeds the vehicle will randomly surge high in rpms then come right back down. The vehicle is presenting unsafe conditions. Took the vehicle to the dealer multiple times. 1st time they topped off the transmission fluid as it was low from the factory. 2nd time they are aware of the issue and others were having it as well and the transmission ecu was re-flashed. This still did not resolve the problem.brought the vehicle back a 3rd time and they didn't see a problem with the vehicle. Brought it back a 4th time to be seen by a field specialist and the issue could be duplicated but there is no fix at this time because the vehicle is operating as designed. Vehicle currently has less than 2500 miles on it. Not sure why you would design a vehicle to do this.

As of now the ac fan makes a loud noise like something fell apart. There is no air blowing through the vents. It sounds like broken blower moter.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v356000 (engine) and 17v285000 (power train). The parts for the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact coasted to the side lane and was able to restart the vehicle in approximately three minutes. The check engine indicator also illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the atlantic toyota dealer who replaced a sensor for the failure regarding the stalling and replaced both catalytic converters. The dealer stated that the parts for the recall repairs were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that the parts were not available. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available and parts distribution disconnect.

Third lightleaks water damagedwiring/ damagedcarpet/ mildew problem

2016 toyota tacoma purchased from stokes brown toyota new. The seatbelt airbag light for passenger side front seat blinks continually even when vehicle is parked and off.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the back seat of the vehicle would be wet every time it rains without any warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the leak was seen coming from the third brake light. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the third brake light had to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer peterson toyota (4381 fayetteville rd, lumberton, nc 28358, (910)-375-4996) was contacted and a diagnosed testing appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that if there was work done to the vehicle by an independent mechanic, that they would not be able to assist with any repairs.the failure mileage was 60,000.

The 3rd brake light becomes loose allowing water into the truck cab.it is either a rubber gasket defect or it was not properly installed at the factory.this problem has been noted in numerous venues for the 2016-2020 model years of the toyota tacoma. Mine leaks while driving or standing still.

When it rains water comes inside the cabin around brake light and soaks the seats. I noticed this when the truck is stationary. I think it's coming around the brake lights gasket the whole back if wet on the driver side looks like water is coming in from the brake light at the top of the headliner. I've also seen other views or reports on this incident

The cab mounted third brake light fixture is allowing a large amount of water to leak into the cab of the truck. The seats and carpet are getting soaked every time there is heavy rain. Eventually the light will fail and mold and mildew will result. This is a very expensive repair. Toyota does not take responsibility for what i think is a defective gasket in this fixture. I have reported the problem to toyota.

3rd brake light seal defective. Rain water enters back of cabin and stains interior roof from defective seal around 3rd brake light.

3rd brake light over torqued at factory resulting in defective seal and eventually cracked light fixture. This results not only in electrical issue but serious leaking into cabin - affecting rear seat, roof, and flooring. Leak noticed after rain storms and noticing wet floor/seats and damp floors. There are numerous reports of this issue affecting 3rd generation tacomas on toyota forums such as tacomaworld.com.

Back seats and floor were found to be wet.didn't know why until we were driving in a rainstorm and water came in back window around 3rd break light.took to local toyota dealership to get fixed.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the rear brake lights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to toyota of logan (297 e main st, logan, oh 43138), to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved dtc codes: c1380 and c1422. The contact was informed that the stop light relay malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned that the dealer was unaware of how to repair the vehicle. Additionally, the subframe of the vehicle was due to be inspected and treated with an anti-corrosion inhibiter. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,495.

Poor interior lighting.back up camera does not dim at night meaning it blinds the operator when backing at night.dashboard led display is so poorly designed that, under most daytime lighting conditions, operator cannot read the odometer or determine what gear vehicle is in. This is dangerous when vehicle is used in the manual shift mode as there is no other way to know if you're shifting from 2d to 3d or 3d to 4th.it also makes it virtually impossible to determine miles to next interstate exit when you cannot see your odometer.trying to stare at the display takes eyes off the road for far too long.dashboard lighting is so poor that operator cannot read speedometer under many daytime lighting conditions, especially wearing sunglasses.

2016 toyota tacoma.consumer writes in regards to headlights failure to provide adequate night lighting.the consumer stated the lighting was especially poor during rain or snow. The dealer stated the vehicle was operating as designed. The consumer feels the standards for the headlights should be reviewed.

Toyota has impounded my car indefinitely for the rear differential recall. I'm left driving a loaner. They said prepare to not have my car for maybe months. This is unacceptable. My vehicle is located at toyota of escondido in california. I hold the title yet i can't have my car?pretty sure that's illegal.

Driving about 60 mph on the freeway, when the vehicle started to lose power, started bucking and then stalled. I was able to pull over to the shoulder. Luckily the road was fairly empty and there was no collision so no one was injured. The vehicle would not start. The trac off and check engine came on; charging system error showed. Had to have it towed to the dealership. Only 10,000 miles on the vehicle. The dealership report said it was the crank position sensor, replaced it with an "enhanced" version and the vehicle functions normally again. Tacomaworld.com has had many members report similar failures, especially involving the 2016 tacoma.

Abnormal chirp or squeak noise from high pressure fuel pump. This happens while at idle and is a known issue for 2012-2013 toyota scions too (attaching scion tsb with this complaint). Toyota replaced the fuel pump at 2,017 miles and in less than 400 miles the issue returned. The toyota field technician said that toyota is aware that there is an issue but there is no fix and no eta for a fix. Toyota is refusing to replace the high pressure fuel pump again. I opened a case with toyota corporate and they sent it back to the dealer for authorization from the field technician. Again the field technician refused to authorize a replacement fuel pump. The dealer is lithia toyota of medford, oregon.

I left my car running engine and star smelling gasoline.

Off-roading, restarted vehicle after a stop. Check engine light came on as well as trac off illuminated. Tried to drive forward and truck stalled and message said high transmission temp.goggled issue to discover a recall for crank position sensor failure. Looked up my vin and i don't have that recall although i have the stated year and model. Had this happened while driving on road it could have caused an accident.

Chirping noise comes and goes. Very loud. Also a constant clicking. Anything that makes noise like that will fail soon. Also had a grinding noise while in four wheel drive on beach and truck started to lose power.grinding went away but happens often.

Stalling when driving at a higher speed

After a commute drive i parked my vehicle in the garage.an hour later, went back in the garage and smelled a strong amount of fuel leak. After verification i found the high pressure fuel lines were leaking right above the driver side exhaust manifold.drove to the nearest toyota dealer and had new lines put in.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While driving 10 mph, the rear passenger wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to toyota of gastonia (4821 wilkinson blvd, gastonia, nc 28056) where it was diagnosed that the emergency brake was leaking fluid. The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 17v285000 (power train) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The dealer had possession of the vehicle for three weeks. The contact observed the recall notificationin june of 2017, but did not receive the recall letter until july of 2017. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer (balise toyota 1399 riverdale st, west springfield, ma, 01089) for an oil change and was informed afterwards that there was a leak from the rear differential. The dealer stated that the parts were available. The next day, the contact was supposed to be notified by the dealer to pick up the vehicle. The contact was not notified and called the dealer, but no one answered. When the contact received a call back, he was informed that the parts were unavailable. The dealer stated that the parts should be available by july 20, 2017 although the vehicle had been there since june 21, 2017. There was no guarantee that the parts would be available on that specific date. The manufacturer was also contacted at 1-800-331-4331 and provided case number: 1706262451. The manufacturer confirmed that the parts were unavailable for the repair and suggested that the contact call around to other dealers and inquire on part availability. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Rear end differential gear howling from 52-59mph - all driving conditions.toyota says it is 'normal' however it only does it on a few vehicles.

My car 2016 toyota tacoma has rebuilt title and voids the power train warranty. Toyota corp has tsb 0077-16 shift feeling enhancements for the transmission due to:delayed engagement park to drive or reverse to drive. Harsh 1st - 2nd upshift. Delayed upshift when using cruise control.i experience harsh up shift and downshiftin the transmission while driving. It needs simple software update, but the toyota cop declined this update for my vehicle (case# 1808271028 on 08/28/2018)if the problem persists it may make transmission uncontrollable ore delayed and vehicle may get into the accident. We have one schooled boy and infant girl. I want to inform about the issue so that all vehicles with the same problem and branded titles are to be corrected by toyota corp at no expense to the owners. I will attach the tsb toyota document that explains what is the problem

After driving at highway speeds for an extended period of time, the manual transmission gets stuck in gear and requires much more force than usual to put the gearbox into neutral.

When we are driving either on city roads or on highway, either in sports mode and automatic there is a lag in the way the engine will shift into gears. In sports mode the lag in gear shift is ridiculously long when it should shift quicker. As for automatic there is also a slow response in shifting whether going up a hill as well as going down a hill. We have 5000 miles on this truck and would have thought it would be broken in by now

Toyota recalled my 2016 tacoma for rear differential leak safety recall.after dropping my truck off today they said they would be able to repair it if they get the parts from toyota, which they said could take months.my question is, why should they inconvenience me for months to repair my vehicle.toyota required me to leave my vehicle at the dealership because it is a safety recall.they did provide me with a rental car, which does me no good because i bought a truck and i need a truck.at the dealership at vineland njthey already had 15 tacoma's in the back lot.the manager told me they would be fixed on a first come first serve basis.he said he had a small dealership and he wasn't sure how fast he could get parts because there were 288,000 tacoma's involved.i am out of a truck for god knows how long.

Erratic transmission shifting. Lurches in low gears, delay when shifting from reverse to drive, stays in 4th gear after cresting a hill, unable to stay in 6th gear while cruising at highway speeds on level ground without load in vehicle.

This toyota tacoma is always trying to shift up or down. I found where toyota says it is always looking for a new shift point to keep the mileage up.this transmission shifts very hard with power reduction and is trying to up shift.when you are trying to come to a stop transmission trying to shift up and then it will shift hard. You will feel a driveline clunk as you stop. I took it to the dealer they said toyota knew about the problem.they said a case was opened. I was told they drove several on their lot and they were the same.the final word was nothing wrong .this is a safety hazard. Has been doing since i got the truck.

Vehicle is producing a howl during throttle feathering at 50-60mph. The sound is coming from the rear of the vehicle but toyota has characterized as "normal operation". I have test driven other tacoma vehicles of the same year but was not able to reproduce the sound.

I took the truck in for regular maintenance and was told they had to keep the truck for a recall.they gave me a loaner car but it has now been three weeks.no one can tell me when there will be a fix for this recall.since leaving it a second recall has been issued and there is no fix for this one as well.3 weeks is excessive by anyone's definition.dealer won't return phone calls.toyota corporate told me it was the dealers responsibility.what am i supposed to, lawyer-up?

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While driving various speeds, the vehicle began to make an abnormally loud noise. The contact noticed that the transmission would shift between gears independently and the four wheel drive feature would not engage after being activated. The dealer diagnosed that the software failed for the transmission and needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 325.

Nhtsa recall number 17v285i took my truck to the dealership for this safety recall on may 9, 2017.toyota says this problem has a remedy, but my dealer says the parts are not available.nhtsa website says to file a complaint if repairs are not made in a timely manner. I have been without the use of this vehicle for two months, how long is considered "timely"?

Rear differential on my trd off road model 4x4 truck is showing seepage despite not being included in recall from toyota

I took my tacoma with 15619 miles on the odometer in for the leaking differential check on may 2, 2017 at a toyota dealer. They performed the toyota specified recall by checking for leaks and apparently found none and re tightened the fasteners. On june 27 i was checking the tacoma prior to our leaving on vacation and noticed seepage on the rear differential in 3 locations. I emailed toyota with my concern. I informed them i would be taking my tacoma to the dealer on june 28, 2017 to have it looked at. I took the tacoma on june 28, 2017 to 2ndtoyota dealer. I informed the service advisor of my concern with the differential. The master tech looked at it. I followed up with toyota corporate by phone informed them of my concerns and was advised to speak with the service mgr. And i did. After the tech had a chance to look at the tacoma i was advised that i would need to have the rear differential replaced. The service mgr. Told me that they would order the parts to repair my tacoma and i could have use of a truck on loan from the dealership until my tacoma could be repaired. I returned from vacation my truck was not repaired was told toyota was having some type of issue because 1st dealer had all ready performed the recall. However, the tacoma begin leaking and the differential was making a loud noise after the recall was performed initially. I am confused as it still should be a warranty covered issue even if another dealer had all ready did a recall. The service advisor agreed and they are still trying to get the truck repaired. It is my contention that the 1st dealer did the recall correctly and the differential failed because of substandard parts or design after the first recall was done. My concern is that my tacoma is potentially a risk of crash as noted in the official toyota recall. My vehicle has been at the dealer since june 28th 2017 or 15 days and counting.

On a cold start, after you put the vehicle in d (drive) there is up to a 7 second delay on engagement of the transmission. The accelerator can be pressed and the vehicle will not move for up to 7 seconds leaving me stranded for example if i have backed out of the driveway to the street. Once i place the vehicle in drive on a cold start, i cannot move for up to 7 seconds. This happens every time on a cold start.

The rear wheels on my 2016 toyota tacoma locked up as i was travelling straight at approx. 55 mph on the 110 north freeway during rush hour.the truck went into a fishtail which i was able to control and bring to a stopthe dealer tells me the bolts on the rear differential came loose and the oil drained out causing the rear diff to seize and stop the tires from rotating.truck has 12,500 miles on it and just a year old. No accident occurred so no report was filed.chp was on the scene until a tow truck came to tow me off the highway.

The transmission fails to engage in a normal amount of time after going from reverse to drive. It is long enough where you select drive and begin to apply throttle and it just revs up then engages while the engine is revved and lunges forward. It also slips when going around corners at low speed and low throttle.

While driving eastbound on the 210 freeway in glendora, ca at approx 35mph the vehicle came to a sudden and violent stop and veered slightly into the lane to my right. I was not braking at the time. Rear wheels had locked and vehicle had to be dragged to the shoulder as rear wheels would not turn. There were no indications of any problem at the time of the incident. Vehicle was in drive, and seemed to be operating normally.vehicle was taken to toyota of glendora in glendora, ca for service. I was told that the rear differential had leaked out, and it along with the rear tires had been replaced under warranty. This was a new vehicle with less than 4500 miles on it. It had not had its first oil change nor any other service. The problem was not caused by external damage, and it was explained to me by the dealership's service advisor that the part had not been properly sealed.vehicle has no warning system or dash light to communicate a loss of differential fluid as it would with oil, tire pressure, temperature, etc.

Rear differential is leaking oil. Was informed of a recall nearly 2 months ago and also informed that it would be unsafe to continue to drive it.toyota has yet to have this vehicle repaired.please help.

Brought my 2016 toyota tacoma in for 20,000 mile service to right toyota on may 5th 2017. Was told by service manager my truck rear differential was leaking and was under recall. They would have to hold my vehicle. They were not sure when toyota would come up with a repair. I called right toyota on may 30th to see if my vehicle was any closer to being repaired. Was told toyota still does not have a procedure for repair yet. Nor did they know when they would. My vehicle also had a hesitation when i took it in for service. So i still don't have my truck back that i use for my business. They say it is unsafe to drive. No time frame of how long for repair. Has been a month now.

Transmission shakes vehicle in lower gears when slowing down to a stop. Transmission hesitates and hard jerks when shifting from reverse to drive .

On may 4,2017 took vehicle in for 15k service though it only had 11k miles.was advised there was a recall and did i want it checked, "would only be a couple hrs." it has been at the dealerships parking lot for two (2) months, exposed to temperatures of 100 plus. I had planned to keep this vehicle for a long time, kept it garaged when not in use etc. Now after this recall and having had other issues in october 2016 such as "down level software", (i think it was corrected), attached work order, i don't really trust this vehicle as to "what else was missed on the plant floor" that i will be paying for in the future?? as far as i'm concerned toyota mtrs. Corp. Sold me a defective vehicle.

Erratic transmission shifting. Lurches in low gears, delay when shifting from reverse to drive, stays in 4th gear after cresting a hill, unable to stay in 6th gear while cruising at highway speeds on level ground without load in vehicle.

Safety issue - when starting cold and engaging reverse, the truck sometimes fails to engage the reverse gear causing a delay of 3-6 seconds, then engages suddenly causing truck to surge in reverse.this surge could cause a safety issue for any pedestrians behind the vehicle as well as possibility of backing into something.transmission seems to slip.took it to molle toyota in kansas city who reports this as normal.

The rear differential is misaligned and the current solution doesn't resolve the noise. I'm afraid excessive wear is happening and issue will arise much sooner

Manual transmission is hard to shift out of 4th, 5th, and 6th gear after extended highway driving. Issue seems to more present when driving up an incline after driving in stop an go traffic.

I brought my truck in for a routine servicing on 6/16. I knew there was a recall in place so i wanted them to check for the leak. Later that they, they informed me there was a leak in place and that they would have to keep the truck. They have me a loaner car in the meantime. Now, they still have no eta on the part and someone was told beginning of 2018. I need the truck, as i am in the process of moving. I spoke with the dealership and toyota corporate who both said, "we don't know".

Took my truck to dealer for 15k routine service/oil change. They announced a recall regrading a "leaking rear differential" advised keeping the truck until repairs were completed,(provided rental) but no time frame for completion. This is causing a hardship on both my personal and work related travel (i go out of state a lot)

Hi to whom this may concern,i have trouble shifting my vehicle once i drive it after 4-5 hours, this is an intermittent problem that the dealer can't replicate because it doesn't happen too often. I have called corporate toyota and they claim that no one else has called in with the issue even though there are many others that have the same issue. I have opened up a case with them with reference #: 1607081673 note: this is on a manual transmission link to a tacomaworld thread with others having the issue:https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/manual-transmission-getting-stuck-in-gear.415438/

Toyota recall -- received notice of recall and took truck to local dealer june 22, 2017 i was advised the it failed the rear differential leak, and i was informed of a new recall for the crank shaft but neither could be fixed due to no parts. I was told i can drive it until the parts come in, but the seriousness of the nhtsa website leads me to believe that i could have crashed by continuing to drive it. I needed the truck, to drive to cincinnati, oh and back on july 11-13 so i had retrieved it back from the dealer based on the service manager's assurance that it was o.k. To drive. On the way back from the trip to cincinnati on july 13, 2017, i put it in drive and applied gas, but nothing happened, just as i went to put it back in park, it lunged forward and i almost hit a car. It "delayed" like that anytime i stopped to rest and started to continue back on the trip. I then had another trip to alabama i had to go on and there were no rental cars available, and again, i was told it was ok to drive. The delay got worse on that trip and i took it back to the dealer on july 22, 2017. It is still at the dealer and no relief in sight yet after 6 weeks so far.

The manufacturer was notified and stated that parts were not available and there was no time frame for when they would arrive. The failure mileage was approximately 1,900.

The rear differential is leaking fluid.on february 11, 2017 the vehicle was taken in for routine service and inspected for a clunking sound that occurs sporadically upon braking.the feeling can best be described as if the vehicle has been bumped from behind. The service department was not able to duplicate the problem.on may 5, 2017 the vehicle was taken in for routine maintenance and retained by the toyota dealer due to a leaking rear differential that was described as a serious safety defect.the vehicle has not been repaired as of june 24, 2017.

Transmission has hesitation when first going in forward or reverse, once your driving the transmission is constantly shifting searching for gears until you get up to cruising speed of 50-60 mph. In city driving transmission shift to quickly and boggs down the engine and then shift right back down and gear and does this constantly at lower speeds, been doing this since i purchased the truck on august 28 2016

The toyota dealer that will be doing the work required for the recall (17v-285) has had vehicle for seven weeks. Due to lack of parts they have not been ableto do the required work or even give me an eta.i making payments on a vehicle that i can't drive and i am paying for a satellite radio i can't listen to and having to make multiple trips to the dealer to renew the loaner/rental which has required me to take time from work. This has gone on way too long.

Received recall notice 17v285000 for rear differential leak. I took the truck to the dealership with less than 9k miles and the truck had the dreaded leak. Dealership grounded the vehicle. It has been over a month and 4 check ins with the dealer and no eta for fix. Called customer service and they cannot give a time for a fix. They have provided a rental vehicle, first a dodge truck since i had obligations, they provided that for 2 weeks then requested i get a car. I agreed but now it is time for vacation and need a truck again. Called customer service to explain frustration with delay the gave me a case number 1707241363 and stated since i was requesting an immediate fix or for them to purchase a case manager would have to call me within 24 hours. Case manager did not call within 24 hours but did receive a call from the dealership that enterprise had no trucks at this time but as soon as one was available they would provide me with a truck. I called back to customer service and was connected to case manager [xxx] who said, "did the dealership call you? " i explained yes but there must be some confusion. I want my truck back fixed or for them to purchase truck back. She got very loud and unprofessional and stated. " it is a recall and we are only providing loaners and no buybacks". This has made the situation worse and i explained that there are other issues that have been reported to the dealer as well such as transmission not going into gear and squeaky leaf springs. I let them know that i thought toyota would have had a better plan in place to have the parts available and the length of wait time is unacceptable. Perhaps a class action law suit needs to start now. I had to ask 4 times for her managers name and she finally said she would call me within 1 business day and her name is [xxx]. This is my first new vehicle for me and not a good feeling.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Recall for rear differential leak. Upon inspection tech found rear diff leaking parts on order. Performance toyota grounded my vehicle and parts were ordered on 8/22/17. Took my vehicle back from dealership and to this day, still no word on the parts. Something sticks....recall on my truck and then have no parts to fix it and then tell me that you are not responsible for damage in result of vehicle being driven.

Recall for rear differential leaking.

The rear differential is leaking lubricant. Visible sign of the leak are on the front (driveshaft) side of the differential housing.

I have a vibration that come through the steering wheel and gas pedal at 2,000 - 2,500 rpm.it is very pronounced and distracting when driving.toyota has driven and identified the issue but says it is "inherent" to the vehicle and is "operating as designed".please check the forums on this issue, mainly tacoma world.seems to happen, as mine did, starting at around 500 miles on the vehicle.spoke with toyota corporate and said there is nothing they would do since a tsb has not been issued.this is a major safety concern as it literally numbs your fingers driving for longer periods in that rpm range.

While driving in city my truck shakes and vibrating horribly when going into 2nd gear. And continues to shake lightly as i continue driving. Dealer says nothing is wrong with the truck could be a tire issue. So got my tires balanced and rotated. Problem still resumes. And still no answer as to what the issue is. I have only 69,276 miles on the truck but it's out of warranty apparently. On highway driving the problem is less noticeable but causes no power to climb hills or pass other motorist.

The differential needed replacement at <10,000 due to a loud howling noise when cruising at 55 mph. The noise was noted when i first picked up the vehicle from the dealership, but the volume got much louder over time. Even my 4 year old child asked, "what's that sound?" the service records noted metal "silver shavings" were found in the differential. Even after replacing the differential, there has been no change in the howling sound at 55 mph. I'm concerned the differential is defective. Many other tacoma owners have reported the exact same symptom. [https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-poll-rear-end-noise-howling-when-feathering-throttle.442341/]to my knowledge, no one has reported a successful fix.

Took my toyota for normal service and they indicate a recall for the rear differential. They said it would be repaired within a day. It has been 12 days and toyota said they do not when they will get parts or when they will fix it. They said it could be a month or more. I asked for an update today and they said it could be months.

I have been experiencing noise that sounds like it's coming from under my truck bed and reduced propulsion. Roseville toyota could not find anything wrong when i took it there for my first 3 services. So on 5/22/17 i took my truck to folsom lake toyota and they told me about the rear diff leak nhtsa recall#17v-285 and inspected and found a leak. They told me i would receive a recall notice in the mail and when i do call them to order the parts. I called them when i got the notice in june and was told i'd be called when the parts are in and its 10/3/17 and they still do not have all the parts in and have not repaired my new 2016 tacoma in a timely manner.

This vehicle has a pronounced vibration in the gas pedal, floor and steering wheel between 2,000 and 2,400 rpm when the vehicle is in gear and under load.it also vibrates when in gear and at idle.

I took my truck in on may 17, 2017 for 20,000 mile service. My truck was confiscated by the dealership for rear differential recall. I have been in 2 rentals since then and no parts are available to fix my truck. This is unacceptable.

2016 toyota tacoma recalled for leaky rear differential. I bought it brand new 11 months ago and it has been in the shop a month and a half of that. I still have to make payments while my truck sits at the dealership. I called southeast toyota and they lied to me telling me if i had financed through toyota financial that i wouldn't have to make payments right now. I am still paying for the truck that's been sitting at the dealer for 6 weeks. Toyota says they have no idea when they will fix my truck. I also have taken it in for a noise coming from the passenger side dash that was never fixed. I took my truck in for the 15000 mile tire rotation and was informed it had a leaky rear differential and have never seen my truck that i am still paying for again,

I took my truck to the dealer for recall no. 17v-285 on may 15, 2017.it remains there for 3 and half months with no date for completing the repair (due to part not available, i was told).during the wait, i received another recall notice, 17v-356.the length of the wait is unreasonable. I would like nhtsa to help the address and remedy the situationthank you.

Toyota impounded my 2016 vehicle over 3 weeks ago on a recall and the dealer and corporate have told me on a few occasions that the parts would be in in a couple of days. Now they are telling me they really have no idea when they are going to receive the parts for the recall. This is completely unacceptable. They are telling the consumer that they have no choice in the matter. My truck is paid for and i want it back.it's now sitting in their back lot in the 110 degree heat of arizona. Is toyota going to extend the warranty for me on the paint since the dust is just baking on in the summer sun? there seems to be a culture of deceit going on at toyota to protect there bottom line and something needs to be done. Their nonchalant attitude towards their consumers needs to be addressed by someone who has the authority to hold them accountable for their actions.

I took my tacoma to headquarter toyota in miami florida, reason was for the recall issued on the 4/27/17 the vehicle was returned to me as the recall "done" when i inspect the vehicle its still leaking dif fluid and i call the service adviser and he told me that they did not performed the recall b/c they did not have the parts...... So at this point you let me keep my car without letting me know that no parts were changed... Cmon toyota...

Vehicle is hesitant and slow to shift and fully in gage to the next gear while accelerating. Sometimes takes a few seconds to switch into drive from reverse while at medium temperature. Slight vibrations while moving at speeds between 25 - 40 mph are felt in steering wheel and throttle pedal. Hood vibration at speeds over 40 mph and in drive in car wash drier.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While driving at low speeds and turning the steering wheel, the rpms would increase to approximately 200-300. The failure would cause the vehicle to surge. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was low on transmission fluid. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was determined that the transmission software needed to be re-flashed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was determined that the vehicle was operating properly. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 1,863....updated 12/12/16 updated 12/12/16.

Vehicle is sporadic when shifting. Earlier today at a left turn at the vehicle would not shift gears giving me the feeling that the vehicle would only go at 10-15mph on incoming traffic. This was at a green light with yield if possible. If it weren't for other driver coming and being able to use breaks the vehicle would have been in an accident. I attempted to step on the accelerator but it seemed as it would not shift. Please investigate further as i've noticed the issue before but when driving straight it is not a problem. Thank you.

Transmission slips when shifted from park to drive or reverse to drive. Has a 1-3 second delay. In addition this slip motion created a loud gear cranking noise as i tried to accelerate on a u-turn. The truck did not move or shift despite hearing the engine accelerate accompanied by the metallic gear-like grind sound. Sound very similar to a stick car when you try to engage a shift without the clutch (but my truck is 2016 automatic trd-sport). Lastly, when taking speed bumps or hard shifting motion (up-down) you can hear the suspensions make a loud clank noise as the truck shifts in the speed bump motion.

Transmission slips when cold or after the truck sits for an hour or two.usually always occurs when starting the vehicle up, reversing and then going into drive.the transmission has a partial engagement but acceleration is not as intended.it will then "bang" into to gear and go.fear is that if you back out of your driveway and intend to accelerate, the truck may not move as intended thus creating a safety hazard.for a new vehicle, there should not be any slippage once shifted into drive.yesterday i had it where the slipping lasted three seconds before it finally went fully into gear.my truck has 1650 miles on it and it's done this since the day it was new.i would say i've experienced this at least 70+ times during cold starts at home or at work.also concerned about the wear on the transmission's internals due to this partial engagement of a forward gear.

Windshield cracked 2 weeks after purchasing the truck. Had to pay $500 deductible through my insurance, windshield from toyota cost $1,000.next issue is my transmission slipping when shifting from reverse to drive. Took it into the dealership and they found the transmission to be low, they topped it off and it's still lagging when shifting. Miss the engine in my 2012 2nd gen. Come on toyota!!!!

When shifting from reverse to drive there is a delay of about 1 second before it is fully engaged in first gear. Automatic transmission

Truck abruptly lost complete power and stalled while driving on a rural two lane road at approximately 40 mph. Requires a tow truck to take the vehicle to the dealership.dealership reported a failed crankshaft sensor and replaced it.

First incident occured while vehicle was stuck in light snow and ice condition.4-wheel drive system did not appear to be operating properly.engaged new "crawl-control" system per owner's manual instructions.during use of crawl-control the motor rpm's exceeded 5,500; immediately pressed engine-stop button and applied brakes.incident resulted in catastrophic damage of front drive-line.damage included front drive-shaft failure; dealer indicated "drive-line" replaced.significant damage to components adjacent to front drive-shaft.vehicle repaired under warranty.two days after service random brake lock-up occurs while driving; vehicle skids out of control.no malfunction indicators showing.abs also does not activate during panic stop brake application.brake lockup experienced in winter conditions at high elevation nearly causing potentially fatal accident (1,000ft drop from road to canyon bottom, no guard-rails).while driving at 30mph the rear end of the truck begins to slide sideways.upon coming to a stop it is discovered that the vehicle will not drive forward.engaged 4-wheel drive and vehicle struggled to move.engaged differential lock and drove backwards for 80ft.wheels appear to become un-locked.drive forward for another 500 yards and same situation occurs.

Toyota recall (transfer case)hoover toyota told me june 14 i could not have my truck because of recall (taken in for 20,000 oil change and transmission tsb),still no fix date and canceling vacation trips because lack of kayak and bike carriers. I'm sure this will reduce the resale (i've had 4 toyotas, probably my last.

I took my tacoma to the dealer for regular oil/service, i was advised of a safety related recall (h0g) they advised me not to drive it until corrected, gave me a "loaner".i've yet to get an assessment and return date. The dealership seems to not be getting information from the corporate office. I contacted the corporate office to ask what my options were. (refund, replacement, etc) i told them i was aware of a "lemon law" . The rep got kind of short with me, said i would be hearing from their legal dept. After 2 weeks no response, i called back. They said it could be 30-45 days before getting a response. Concerns i have are: 1) my vehicle just setting there not being driven developing more problems i'll have to deal with. 2) a "black mark" on its resale value. 3) toyota trying to force me into a "low ball" settlement. The dealer has been fair as possible so far but they seem to be in a void regarding the recall from their corporate office. I almost have the vehicle paid off and not looking forward starting over or getting involved in a legal proceeding. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When starting the vehicle in the morning (30-40 deg f)i let the truck warm up until the the thermostat needle begins to move. When i put the truck into reverse the engine rpms surge and then a second or two later the truck will engage reverse and the truck will often lurch rearward unexpectedly. When put into drive the same thing happens. After driving a mile i get on the freeway and the vehicle will not shift into top gear no matter what i do and the vehicle seems to have reduced power as it does not want to maintain a speed greater than 60 mph without great provocation. The speed limit is 70 mph so this causes a safety concern as my vehicle is traveling at a much lower speed than the surrounding traffic. This behavior persists for approximately 4-5 miles before returning to normal operation.even when it is indicated that the engine has reached optimal temperature the reduced power mode and erratic transmission behavior persists.

My toyota tacoma 2016 6 speed automatic transmission was one quart low of atf from the factory .this could have been avoided if the dealer would have performed an pdi like they are required to do.

Transfer case gets stuck in 4 lo. Seems that toyota is producing defective accuators that , once put in 4lo wont shift back to normal driving state. In this gear, truck runs 35 mph at 4000 rpm making it unsafe for highway driving and leaving consumers stranded. Repair cost over $2300.

Vehicle lunges like a bucking bronc at wot from stop or rolling start.if it was a carbureted vehicle (pre-computer days) i would check timing, carburetor jets, fuel filter, etc. Seems to be a little better in sport mode or ect in drive.

Vehicle gets stuck in gear when driving on highway for extended amounts of periods on the highway 90km +, only when transmission gets to operating temp. It also gets stuck in lower gears 1-3 when decelerating and the truck is at lower revs. Extremely dangerous when trying to downshift for a hill or corner, your foot is off the accelerator petal and truck gets stuck in gear. Toyota has taken a month and still has not come up with the decision to replace, they do not care if it's dangerous to drive. I need a truck though....

The manual transmission consistently gets stuck in gear once the transmission is hot. This typically occurs on drives over 2-3 hours or heavy stop-go traffic. The driver cannot change gears without excessive force on the shifter, resulting in significant changes in driving dynamics while this is occurring (e.g., loss of vehicle speed, loss of engine revs, lugging transmission).examples include downshifts from 5-6, 5-4, 4-3, and 3-2 as well as upshifts through those same gears. This presents a critical safety concern when the transmission malfunctions and the vehicle does not operate as intended. It places the driver in dangerous and potentially life threatening situations, whereby the driver is taking attention away from driving in order to apply significant pressure on the shift lever in order to get the transmission unstuck. Moreover, while maneuvering the vehicle through traffic or intersections, the driver and others on the road become vulnerable to major accidents caused by a malfunctioning toyota transmission and the inability of the driver to safely operate the vehicle. I have contacted toyota on several occasions.toyota relied on an independent third party dealer to perform an inadequate inspection of a malfunctioning transmission and then proceeded to deny all responsibility; even going as far as to make the assertion that "the customer can drive the vehicle as necessary".toyota has done absolutely nothing to review or inspect the malfunctioning transmission only to conclude it is safe to drive!

I was notified of safety recall 17v-285 rear differential leak in july 2017.i took my vehicle in and they said part is on order.now, five months later, it is sitll on order.this seems to be an unreasonable period of time for a safety issue.

I have received two recall notices on my 2016 toyota tacoma limited pickup truck.the second notice was in july, 2017. I have not yet been able to have the recalls done because the parts are not available from toyota yet.the recalls could effect the drivability of the truck which makes me hesitant to use if for long distance travel.

Transmission seems not to engage very quickly. Very sluggish. Mostly in the morning when put in reverse it does not seem to engage. There's also a clicking noise up by the engine passenger side. Dealer says it's normal. Never heard anything like that on any vehicle i've owned

On long trips where the vehicle is driven for several miles in one gear it is extremely difficult to pull it out of 4th, 5th or 6th gear in order to change gears. This resulted in dangerous speed control issues (both too fast and too slow for traffic) while driving on mountainous highways. The problem and its repair are exactly described on toyota service bulletin tsb-0088-16. In my opinion the bulletin should be escalated to a recall because of the safety concerns.the problem is repeatable but difficult to demonstrate to a technician because it requires a long drive time and under certain terrain and/or driving conditions.

Transmission has a delayed engagement on a cold start. When shifting from park to either drive or reverse, the truck moves slightly then a hard lock up is felt. I believe this to be a safety issue. While backing up onto street, when shifting from reverse to drive, there was a significant delay with no movement. With oncoming traffic i was worried whether on not it would engage at all. Could have caused a accident.

Clutch system developed loud sound and vibration a few months after getting brand new from toyota. Doesn't matter if clutch was pressed for first time to turn on to shifting gears. My previous 2013 had same issue and some clutch parts were replaced by toyota to fix the issue.

Shifting from reverse to drive there is a delay so when i go to take off it slams into drive.

Vehicle has a noticeable delay and abrupt shifting when changing from reverse to drive. The delay in shifting from reverse to drive feels dangerous because it often causes the vehicle to lurch forward unexpectedly.my vehicle currently has 4000 miles on it. I have contacted the dealer regarding this problem, they have said that this behavior is normal.

2016 toyota tacoma. Consumer writes in regards to transmission issues. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle shifting as erratic and unreliable. The rear differential leaked, when the vehicle stopped it made a loud clunk, and there was a loud whining noise. The consumer requested to be able to sale back the vehicle, be reimbursed for the rental andfor hiring an outside mechanic.

After starting the truck and idling for any length of time, i place my foot on the brake and shift into reverse or drive.the truck almost leaps if i don't keep my foot on the brake. There is a noticeable pause many times, so it seems to be electronically controlled transmission.i have read that dealerships can flash the ecu module and it will resolve it, but i do not have any "unresolved recalls" at this time.

Have a serious vibration in the transmission. Have took the truck in 4 times they did the upgrade on the computer it did help. Now the problem is back they have no answer's for me. Got told by 50,000 miles it should work itself out. Called toyota to complain they are aware of the problems. I got told they have no answer's how how to fix the problem. My complaint is they have issues with the 2016 and 2017.they are not fixing them but yet still ripping people off buy selling trucks with a major problem. I use to love my toyota but now i'm done and will never buy one again since they don't back them up anymore and rip people off.

Took my car to the dealer, marietta toyota, for service and it was impounded on may 31, 2017 due to safety recall of rear differential leak.i was informed at that time that the parts to fix the issue would not be available for at least two months.it has now been a month and i would like some information on what action i can take.

-transmission is too quick to upshift causing the engine to bog down.-transmission causes the tuck to lurch forward at low speeds.-shifting from r to d on a hill can sometimes cause the truck to roll backwards as if the truck was in neutral-in general, the transmission is inconsistent in operation.in the same situation it may react differently-during hard acceleration after you let up on the gas, the engine rpm's will stay high and slowly come back down.if you press the gas again during this time the transmission will either cause the engine to rev but the truck won't accelerate, or will slam into a gear causing the truck to lurch.

Rear differential gasket leaks. Couldnt fix it when i went in because they didnt have parts. Refused to give me a rental truck. Told me i needed to prove i owned a business. They also wanted to keep my vehicle but i have no other means to get to work. And they didnt know how long it was going to take to get the parts. Told me 8 plus weeks to get a gasket.

Chirping noise comes and goes. Very loud. Also a constant clicking. Anything that makes noise like that will fail soon. Also had a grinding noise while in four wheel drive on beach and truck started to lose power.grinding went away but happens often.

2016 toyota tacoma purchased from stokes brown toyota new. The seatbelt airbag light for passenger side front seat blinks continually even when vehicle is parked and off.

Driver's side rear seat is getting wet during heavy rains.the leather will be swelled up.

3rd generation (2016+) toyota tacoma's have a known technical service bulletin regarding leaking of the 3rd brake light. During rainfall and driving through a carwash, water will leak into the drivers compartment resulting in water damage and potential for mold and mildew. A quick internet search will result in thousands of owners reporting this issue. Toyota refuses to cover this issue if you are outside of their warranty period, which can result in $1000+ labor bill to replace a faulty gasket. Seeing as this is a potential health risk to owners, this should be a mandatory recall to replace for owners outside of the warranty period.

Seat heater module connector has failed and burned/melted the connector.appears to be a fire concern.

Electrical wiring/connector for the heated seat module located under the driver seat overheated or arced causing the connector (s) to melt posing a safety hazard and rendering the heated seat inoperable.

While vehicle was in motion, turned on, and in motion, the amp for the driver side front seat heater pretty much melted. I smelt an electrical burning smell, and was able to locate the source.

The driver's side seat heater stopped working in my 2016 tacoma limited 4x4 delivered in january 2016.upon inspection it was found that the wiring harness into the seat heater amp had a melted wire, damaging both the amp and the wiring harness. Other instances of this same seat heater failure with melted wiring were found online in the tacomaworld.com forums.i took it to the dealer to be confirm the issue and have have a quote to fix it.mileage is 33,900

The rear seats do not lock.for example, the rear seats have a locking mechanism under the seat.when seat is put back into its normal position it does not lock.i had a 2001 and the seat locked once put into its normal sitting position.

I noticed when my driver seat heater was in the "on" position, the seat was not heating up. Electrical wiring/connector for the heated seat module located under the driver seat overheated or arced causing the connector (s) to melt posing a safety/fire hazard and rendering the heated seat inoperable. Tsb from toyota covers this up to 3years/36,000 miles. Mileage at time of failure: 61,000 miles.

The breaks are not effective. The truck slides and it doesn't break effectiveness. Feels like the tires are blocked out and the car slides on the road without stopping the truck. This happens every time a quick break is needed or emergency happens. I have being lucky of keeping enough distance to avoid accidents. A recall of the break system is needed asap. More than 5 times i have had experienced this issue. In the beginning i thought it was me adjusting to a new truck, but this is a serious safety issue.

Knocking noise from vac pump. Had the tech not noticed this when we had the truck serviced for another reason, the vac pump could have failed while driving down the road, causing a potential fatal accident.toyota was aware of the potential vac pump failure why did they not issue a recall on their own.

Had an are truck cap put on after 5 miles of driving truck indicator light came on "brake malfunction". Got truck home tried to restart and now truck will not start saying "check charging system and brake malfunction

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While pulling into the driveway at 5 mph, the brakes failed without warning. The contact noticed that the brake fluid was low. The front brakes lock when braking hard, the anti-lock should not allow the wheel to skid.

Thank you

After driving 10 miles from a cold start the vehicles brakes will start applying braking power.vehicle becomes noticeably labored and cannot engage higher gears.vehicle was serviced multiple times for this issue.dealership reported that factory service representative feels that vehicle is working as designed.on 2016-03-18 the brakes where engaging while driving.the brakes became overheated and glowing red to the point where other motorists tried to warn me that my truck is on fire.i pulled over and found brake rotors to be hot enough to ignite paper and pine needles.after two hours of waiting the brakes cooled and i drove it home.the following morning i drove the vehicle again.the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms after 15 miles.upon stopping the front rotors were found to be extremely hot.the rear drums were also observed to be hot enough to bubble and melt their protective painted finish.the smell of overheated brakes and rubber was also observed.tire pressure had also risen several degrees. Vehicle is being towed in for the fifth service incident since acquisition on 2015-12-22.vehicle odometer shows mileage is under 5,000.not certain that odometer is accurate and suspect that vehicle was in service prior to acquisition.

Vehicle experienced a complete locking of the rear wheels.toyota and the dealership have stated that the parking brake caused the wheels to seize.toyota's factory representative indicated that the parking brakes should never be used in cold weather and that any future repairs are no longer covered under the warranty.

Vehicle steering wheel shakes and bounces up and down at freeway speeds(65 mph) intermittently.

Passenger side door comes unlatched while driving.cold weather freezes inside the latch-handle and does not complete latch.when passenger put weight on door they nearly fell out of the moving vehicle.a second occurrence was observed when going through a corner; no passenger.

Traveling on i95 in northern virginia at approximately 60mph when my sunroof suddenly exploded with a loud bang. Broken pieces of glass rained down in the cab of my truck and on me. No objects struck my vehicle nor was i traveling under an overpass at the time. I had opened the sunshade several minutes prior to the incident but the glass itself was fully closed. There were not any cracks, chips or damage of any kind to the glass before the sunroof failure occurred. After exiting the highway i inspected the glass and found that the edges around the jagged hole protruded outwardly. I again found no evidence of the vehicle being struck by any foreign objects.this event occurred on november 6th, 2019 at approximately 1:00 pm. Weather was clear and temperatures were around 60 degrees.

Driver and passenger windows rattle when rolled down .5" to 3".it's very loud and annoying.

Se le est desprendiendo la pintura y tiene sarro aparte el transparente de la pintura se le est cayendo y se le notan algunos detalles que repararon antes de que saliera al mercado

My dealership has had my truck for over8 weeks and has given me no indication when it will be repaired or when i will get it back.

The adhesive used to bond the sheet metal to the frame of the hood is faulty.this causes the hood to flex and shake at highway speeds.

Was hit by a different driver in a parking lot.

The rear cargo/3rd brake light on the top of the cab seal is broken and water leaks in to the rear cab and satin in the headliner. I have looked up this problem and there seems to be many complaints. I called toyota headquarters after getting my truck serviced for a recall item and the dealer said they could not help even knowing that there is a tsb 0055-18.

I was driving my 2016 toyota tacoma through a drive-thru car wash and water started to drip though the ceiling. My toyota tacoma was in motion as it was rolling through the car wash cycle. After reading multiple forum posts, other toyota tacoma owners described that their vehicles leaked water from the third brake light on top of the cab because of a a damaged seal or being improperly sealed.

Rear differential recall- on may 9th i dropped my truck off at stevens creek toyota to have the two error messages reviewed for cause. The advisor, robin let me know there was a recall on the rear differential from april and that they would inspect my vehicle for leaks. The first report was that there were no leaks. The following morning when i went to the dealership to retrieve my truck i was told the trucks rear diff was leaking terribly and was unsafe to drive. I was told the fix would be complete in one to two weeks and was given a corolla as a comparable loaner vehicle. After two weeks of false updates from various techs i emailed the service manager and requested an immediate update along with a truly comparable loaner "truck". I received an update of "per toyota there is no fix and no time line as to when a fix will happen". I was given a dodge ram rental from enterprise as an upgraded loaner vehicle. I have called the number provided on the web-site 800.331.4331 and they have confirmed that there is still no repair and they have no idea when one will be forthcoming. I am making payments and providing insurance on a brand new vehicle i have barely even driven and now resides on the dealer lot. The loaner vehicle is comparable in size but not when it comes to all the added options and safety features i paid for. I have kept a very detailed record of all conversations & emails. I just want to drive the truck i am paying for but i would be willing to discuss purchasing a different truck that has passed the recall inspection. I keep seeing that this will be handled in a timely manner but what does that even mean? it's been nearly 3 weeks without my truck due to toyota's negligence.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal noise while being operated. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to spring hill toyota where it was diagnosed that the leaf springs were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The car is squeaking for no reason. Looked online and many complaints have been talked about through forums and youtube. The dealer refuses to fix it for some and says it is a known complaint, not sure if its safety related

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. While driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to remain in position. In addition, the contact had to put extra effort into turning the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact spoke with an independent mechanic who stated that the shocks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9.

Transmission has a flare, shudder, jerky and clunk.i have been dealing with it since 07-16-2016

When turn the steering wheel makes a popping , clicking sound

Transmition sleep also push gas pedal and go down speed and jump aster acelerate and delay went i star 1rs gearnot move after few secondsmotor make wear noises like noking only have 67000 milessuspention is badsep oncurves and turn at 25 mikes pre hours so bad scarrybackpart is movingso bad and pull me out the road and i see theonother tacomasame 2016

I bought this truck in june 2018, used with 32000 miles on it. I was driving on a highway in a thunderstorm on 7/25/18, and the kids in the backseat said they were getting wet, and that the water was coming through the headliner. Looked this up online when i got back home and it was a known issue of the rear brake light on the cab leaking through the seal. Brought it to the dealer the next day and they said the replacement seal was on backorder 2-3 months, and there were thousands of trucks all over the us with this problem, which was apparently reengineered in the 2017 model. I made a call to toyota corporate customer service and a seal miraculously appeared after 3 weeks. After the seal was replaced the dealer said that, upon further inspection they found mold, and it was the worst they had ever seen. They took everything out of the cab and they have to scrape all of the sound deadening material off the floorboard where the mold has concentrated. They will then have to have an outside company come in and treat the vehicle for the mold issue. Then they will have to order replacement parts affected. I was advised this morning it will be another 2-3 weeks before the repairs are complete. Thank god i bought this vehicle with a certified warranty. Otherwise i would have been screwed. With the mold anyone who rode in my car could potentially become sick. I would like to purchase a new model instead to avoid my kids getting sick, but the dealer said it wouldn't qualify on the arkansas lemon law. Why the hell hasn't this issue been recalled by the manufacturer???

My vehicle is just over 3 years old with about 34000 miles. I've had multiple vehicles prior to my tacoma and have never had to change the evaporator core. I've been told that a lot of tacomas have been experiencing this issue. My concern is that from 2016 and up the tacomas started using the new free on, type 1234yf, which i believe is flammable, unlike r134. Toyota should really look into this issue andit should be a recall.

My 2016 tacoma safety recall for rear differential leak.i drop my tacoma off @ ron tonkin dealer on june 16th, 2017 and it over a month i had not hear any update from the dealer when my truck will be fixed.contacted the dealer on 7/22/17, they said part still not available; however, the recall letter from toyota said it only take few hours to complete the repair.please help.

Rear differential recall. Took it in a month and a half ago. Was told it was leaking really bad. They temporarily "fixed" it and was told it would take a week for parts to arrive. Month and a half later and nothing. I keep calling the dealership and toyota hqsince they can't even notify me of what's going on. So i've been running on a really bad leak for a month and a half.

My warning lights on my side mirrors that tell me there is a vehicle on my left r right and warning lights and alarm that are supposed to sound when something is behind me works inconsistantly sometimes they work and a majority of time they do not work causing safety issuesi am riding in car or backing up

We live in a border town with mexico and going and coming back sometimes there are long lines at the bridges so in one of those times temperature started to go up in the truck it was overheating

Driver's side rear seat is getting wet during heavy rains.the leather will be swelled up.

Every time the speed is going downn on 20 mph...the truck shakes

Takata recalli brought my car to the dealer because it is recalled.they say it would take about 10 days to 3 weeks, or even up to more than 2 months because they do not have the parts available for now.in the mean time, i have no car to drive to work.it is recall because of the company's fault, then why do i have no loaner car?

I received a recall notice regarding my 2016 toyota tacoma.the nhtsa recall number is no. 17v-356.it has been over a month since i contacted the toyota dealership here in decatur il. (crown toyota) and the toyota corporation with a complaint that they haven't fixed the issue.they keep telling me the part is on back order.how long does it take them to fix the issue?

2016 toyota tacoma exhibits a severe resonant vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal from unknown source. The buzzing vibration emanates through the steering wheel and gas pedal at a severity and pitch that causes discomfort, tingling in the hands, arms, and right leg'to an extent i become distracted when driving owing to the discomfort and use unsafe driving methods to avoid the steering wheel or gas pedal.'when accelerating from 1,000 through 3,000 rpms, the steering wheel and gas pedal exhibit a resonant buzzing vibration.the vibration is powerful and worst in the 2,100-2,500 rpm range.extreme cold weather temperatures (15 degrees or less) dampen it. 'the vibration only occurs when the engine is under load.it does not happen when the engine is revved through these ranges in park or neutral.'when the vibration occurs in the 2,100-2,500 range, it happens at an intensity and frequency that causes clothes and shoes to vibrate.moreover, one can feel the vibration in the skin and bones.'when traveling for long distances on the highway through hills or mountains, the engine often settles in the 2,000-2,500 range.the vibration is constantly present in the steering wheel and gas pedal.after long exposures to this vibration via long trips, hands and feet begin to experience tingling.i constantly try to steer with minimal to no contact with the steering wheel and using cruise control to avoid the discomfort.this affects driver's ability to feel and maintain proper control of acceleration and steering.i find myself constantly trying to get out of this range when on long-distance highway travel.i have been working with toyota since october 2015 to address this issue to no avail.this includes three service department visits and myriad phone calls with toyota corporate help line.

I currently have a 2012 gmc pick up with large crack over the instrument panel.

During heavy rainfall, back driver side gets wet. I noticed this back in march and called the dealership. They asked me to call back in a week because they were closing due to covid. I've had medical issues since then and haven't been able to contact them. But i'll try to tomorrow. Now the water from the rains are getting to the middle between the two seats. Smells bad. I feel that the seat foams are bad. And it's growing mildew on the bottom left side (on the carpet) under the driver side back seat. The top of the inside of the roof on the driver side is only showing water that high. The seam on top of the truck seems secure so i feel like it's coming through the 3rd brake light (the one that is above the window). I know it's getting wet when the truck is still. Pretty sure it is, as well, when the truck is moving. Also, i mentioned that i first noticed the issue back in march. But the pics that i submitted are from the rain that we just got today.

The 2016 tacoma will not allow the driver with usb flash drive plugged in with music. Control the browsing album or song list with steering wheel controls. As per the 2015 tacoma did. This is in all aspects. Of operation parked, moving, etc. I see this as a safety issue. Having to take your eyes off the road to press the browse button on the head unit and then use scroll buttons to move through the list of albums and then scroll through a list of songs to select one. Then at that point i am able to use the up and down arrow on the left steering wheel control to just go through the particular album iam in. I think it is a program feature that was over looked in the head unit and could cause wreck or damage when not fully focused on the road.

I have not been informed about a safety recal until i came to the dealership and they told me.

The car is squeaking for no reason. Looked online and many complaints have been talked about through forums and youtube. The dealer refuses to fix it for some and says it is a known complaint, not sure if its safety related

On july 6, i took my vehicle to west covina toyota for 25k service and recall. At that time they kept it for recall. I asked them how long it would take and they wouldn't give me date. I was told toyota would not give them a date, but i could call. Called and toyota told me 4 to 6 weeks. I told the dealer, that if they provided a loaner, i would prefer a truck similar (or even less) to my vehicle. The service manager said it would probably a frontier. That was july 14. To date no response. On july 19 and july 27, i sent texts to the service employee (william) regarding the status of the loaner and my vehicle. On july 31, i received a call from william saying he didn't know when the vehicle would be ready. He never mentioned the status of the loaner. My complaint is that penske toyota, could at least have given me a timeframe for the parts rather than putting it off on me and toyota customer care, they also could at minimum said there is no truck available so i could plan around repair. They have chosen to be no responsive and are placing the blame on toyota. These types of things happen and all i have asked for are the best update they have at the time. Also, the recall notice offered the loaner for extended repairs, they have chosen to ignore my request.

I keep seeing that this will be handled in a timely manner but what does that even mean? it's been nearly 3 weeks without my truck due to toyota's negligence.

My truck is leaking at the center brake light into my back seat.

The toyota tacoma air conditioner condenser hose is very easily blocked allowing large amount of water to build up behind the dashboard.(the condenser hose's purpose is to discharge condensation from the air conditioner.)this creates a fire hazard, the potential for mechanical or electrical failure and the loss of vehicle control.the underlying problem is a design problem.the problem is very common/ frequent and toyota has known about this problem for a number of years - but fails to accept it is a problem.i have needed to 'unclog:' the hose twice over the last year.last week, the large build up of water in behind my dashboard resulted in smoke coming into the cabin of my car. After that incident, i took my relatively new car to the dealership; i was told this repair was not covered by the warranty.again this is a problem caused by a faulty design

Recall #17v-285 after finding the aforementioned recall on line i took my truck to sparks toyota to have it checked the dealer informed me that the rear differential gasket was leaking and would have to be replaced they have had my truck for over sixty days and cannot tell me when it will be repaired other than mid june which has passed and then early july. I called toyota usa and they could not give me any information other than the dealer would call me. The dealer never called and my truck is still there.

On 6/26/2017 the baxter toyota lincoln has diagnosed rear differential fluid leak on my toyota tacoma 2016(safety recall) until now 9/11/2017 , they have not fixed problem, nobody offers me alternative transportation(the note from safety recall said toyota will provide transportation if they found a leak on customer vehicle).toyota did not care about safety,or take care there fail product.i have inspection form from toyota showing leak has found on my vehicle

The blower motor on my truck fits the issued recall. However its only elidgable for certain vins and mine is not covered. How can i get covered under this recall. The window is june 2016 to 2017. I purchased my truck in march of 2016. The blower motor has been loud since i bought the truck and died a month ago. I saw this recall release and do not know why my truck isn't covered. I believe this recall should be expanded.

Toyota servco mapunpuna said they will be keeping my truck for up to, if not more, then 2 months.this is totally unacceptable because i need my truck and i do not appreciate it being in the salt water elements, without covering for up to 2 months or more.i will feel much better if you/company provided a truck cover to go over my truck because i paid extra money, through toyota, to have a special coating on the truck to protect it from the elements.i wash the truck every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks so that elements do not ruin the coating on my truck.so up to 2 months or more to fix a slight leak is ridiculous beyond belief.

Bsmsensors stop working andafter few back to workweek latter stop work anddealers can not found the reasin to fail3 times on dealers still not found the problem and say only toyota have the solution to aprobea recall for these issue

Air conditioner is not working well. Take too long to gets cold and it's sounds like a leaking when the vehicle is turn off.i took it to repair and the evaporator is not working. I have to buy the oem item: evaporator and sensor asm; part no: 88511-04020.

Vehicle is producing a howl during throttle feathering at 50-60mph. The sound is coming from the rear of the vehicle but toyota has characterized as "normal operation". I have test driven other tacoma vehicles of the same year but was not able to reproduce the sound.

As truck was coming to a safe stop, the truck quickly accelerated into a small tree and caused damage. Same symptom later on highway and almost had traffic accident so i pulled to side of road and called for wrecker service. Truck now at panama city toyota still waiting for code reading.

While driving approximately 40 to 65 mph, the vehicle randomly upshifted and/or downshifted and accelerated or decelerated on its own.there were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and a software update was performed. The issue recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

When driving on the highway the acceleration is erratic.i will press on the accelerator to get to a cruising speed (this happens anywhere between 40-60 mph) and the vehicle suddenly accelerates and the tachometer jumps from between 2000 and 3000 to the upper 4000 ? 5000 range.additionally, when i have the car in cruise control, it does the same thing when going up hills.the engine revs loudly and the truck lurches erratically forward, so i have to quickly take it out of cruise control and get the peg on the tac down to a more reasonable level. Mechanics at the scheduled did not make a note of any issues.i will press this with them at the next tune-up and safety check. The online form here asks for a specific date.this has been ongoing since i purchased the car 11-june-2016 to present (21-oct-16).

The blower motor / fan in the cabin is broken and makes loud noises - does not work. In heavy rain, windows fogged up, unable to see road clearly in a wet, crowded and slippery road. Waiting more than 10 days for the dealership to get the part, dealership commented that 'this was the third one today' when i dropped by to schedule a service call.

Driving down the highway i had a small rock come up and hit my windshield, i didn't notice any rock chip but i woke up the next morning and there was a 10 inch crack in the glass, the same thing happened with my mom's 2016 tacoma.

I started the truck and the air conditioner started making a terrible rattling noise. The noise stopped when the fan was turned off. I contacted toyota and was told it was an issue with the blower motor and that the part was back-ordered with no timeframe for a fix. I am in line behind over 1200 other people for the back ordered part. Initially i felt that this was only a comfort issue, which is distressing enough on a truck that only has 25,000 miles on it, but i have come to realize that it is a safety hazard as the it impacts the defrost mode as well. If the defrost is not working properly due to the fan for the heating and cooling system, and times of inclement weather leave you with no options to improve visibility from fog or ice.

Toyota is reportedly using a new windshield for the 2016 tacoma line, asserting better acoustical insulating qualities. A long crack across the windshield quickly developed within hours after parking the truck in the parking lot of my employer, and has continued to branch off in several directions since appearing, thus compromising the windshield's structural integrity and safe visibility in bright sunlight. There are no chips, web cracks or evidence of any impacts such as those obtained from stray highway rocks or debris (crack begins at the base of the glass, close the center). Upon receiving a quote for replacement at a nearby repair shop, i noticed another 2016 tacoma that was reportedly in queue for the same repair. I have since discovered that an alarming amount of new owners of the 2016 model of tacoma have been experiencing the same issue with cracks that seemingly develop "on their own", leading me to believe that there possibly might be issues related to the quality, design, or manufacture/installation of the windshields. I am hesitant to replace the glass with a matching oem unit.

I had this truck less than 2 weeks with around 500 miles on it and the windshield cracked due to a pebble hitting it at a fairly low speed. The windshield seems to be especially fragile in the 2016 tacoma as i have had multiple rocks hit my windshield at higher speeds and never had it crack so easily. I have also found that many other 2016 tacoma owners are experiencing the same issue.

The contact owns a 2016 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the windshield wipers performed very slowly even when they were on the highest speed. The failure prevented the contact from seeing the road clearly during heavy rain. The vehicle was taken to mike calvert toyota (2333 s loop w, houston, tx 77054) where they stated that all the vehicles were manufactured the same way. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000.

My windshield "popped" and caused a crack. Nothing hit the windshield. When i tried to get the half inch crack repaired, the crack spread to over 18 inches.

The windshield cracked after the first pebble hit it on the interstate.i was in a construction zone doing about 50 mph.while this sounds like a normal issue, this happened 200 miles after getting the vehicle.i traded in my 2009 tacoma which had been hit hundreds of times on this same stretch of road.i didn't think too much of it until i went to the auto glass repair place and discovered mine was the 3rd 2016 tacoma that week for the same issue.further research revealed that the 2016 went to a new multi-layered glass that cuts down on noise.i think this contributed to the windshield damage.while a minor chip may have been the result if it had happened with an older version windshield.

While driving on a highway a small pebble stuck my windshield causing a 10 inch crack. While researching cost of new windshield i found that lots of people are dealing with the same problem on this vehicle. I live in the midwest and drive on gravel roads daily and have had hundreds of rocks hit my window causing chips that can be repaired but never a crack like this especially from such a small impact.

The dealer stated that there were no recalls for this failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 53,633.
