I hit a parked car while driving about 30 mph. The drivers air bag did not deploy.i suffered major injurys. I had a concusin and subdural hemotoma and had stitches in my mouth. The air bag would have saved me alot of pain

Passenger air bag sensor light illuminated and remains lit. Sounds like something rattling over area of glove compartment.

Spiral cord defective drivers side air bag

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the driver side air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 115,000.

Airbag light illuminated disabling the vehicle's airbag systems potentially causing severe injury during a collision. Dealership inspection revealed failure in the airbag spiral cable, an existing known fault recalled on other 2010 model year tacomas by toyota. This particular vin was not included in the 2014 toyota recall of 2009-2010 for spiral cable failure. Toyota currently has no plans to expand their previous recall to fix this issue on other affected vehicles.

I was belted in and hit a street sign then a 6 foot tall straight up and down just about sand hill and then a tree. Impact was sufficient enough to brake my back for sudden stop. The accident was may 5, 2016 and it was a drunk driving accident but that shouldn't matter as i should have been stopped by airbag instead of snapping my back.. I have had serious memory loss due to prior medical conditions. I love toyota but i believe something went terribly wrong that night as impact should have set off driver airbag. My passengers didn't buckle up but i did and i was hurt the worse.. Oh and yes i am expecting to hear from someone in your company or law firm to know if i need a lawyer or not. Thank you .. The steering column assembly contains electrical connections to the driver's airbag module housed in a spiral cable assembly, which includes a flexible flat cable (ffc). Due to the shape and location of the ffc's retainer, the ffc could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned. While driving i noticed my horn quit working and my airbag warning came on and i know there is already a recallfor the spiral cable assembly but my vin # is not included in the recall.

My airbag light came on for no apparent reason.there was a recall for other toyota tacomas for an air bag spiral assembly however my model was not included. I took the truck to a toyota dealer who informed me that the cable and connections were rusty and the air bag would not function in a crash unless the assembly was replaced. I paid out of pocket to have the cable replaced.

A truck pulled out in front of me at intersection rt 46 on 07/31/13. I went to beep the horn and it didn't work.i wasn't able to confirm problem because very busy till 11/04/13. Confirmed problem caused by faulty spiral cable within the steering wheel. As per conversation with toyota1-800-331-4331 on 11/04/13 (case #1311040283) to have dealer confirm problem with as i understood would warranty part only, problem confirmed by dealer 12/09/13,toyota, [xxx] called declined goodwill warranty.i replaced spiral cable at my expense, horn now works. The spiral cable also contain within it wires for steering radio controls, the air bag and the horn. As bad weather approached the lack of a working horn became a huge safety issue. Toyota recalled all 05 to 09 (495,000 ) tacoma for the same part# spiral cable ( airbag ) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata air bag recall on toyota tacoma pickups? dated new in year 2010.

2010 toyota tacoma 4 wheel drive -loss control of vehicle by overcorrecting and hit a tree head on- frontal airbags did not depoly.however, side airbags did deploy.great concern of why both frontal airbags did not deploy!!!!!

On a recent inspection of the lights on my vehicle i noticed that the daylight running lights (drl) were melting both left and right headlight assemblies. The light bulb retainer is discolored indicating signs of a high heat.my toyota dealership confirmed there is a problem with the drl's, however they were only replacing the headlight assembly if the vehicle is under warranty.i then contacted toyota customer service and asked if there was a fix for the headlights, they confirmed that there is no fix and they will not replace the headlight assembly. The problem is a potential fire hazard. An internet search provided numerous accounts and pictures of this chronic problem. I would like toyota to correct the hazard and repair the damage to my vehicle. Again the biggest issue here is that if toyota replaces the headlight assembly it will be with the same components that cause the problem.

I noticed while doing a walk around of my truck that one of the headlights was burned out. I thought nothing about the issue and planned to have it repaired. Within 2 weeks the other side burned out as well. This has now happened 3 times (77,000miles). I have spoken with several other owners and many are having the same issue, including a family member and coworkers. This is a major safety issue as if you don't catch when the first one burns out the other follows shortly thereafter and can leave you stranded.

The hvac fan electrical connection burned and melted. I could smell burning inside my truck. My mechanic found the hvac blower fan connection had been so hot it burned and melted along with the resistor. Some of the wires were black and brown. I was worried the truck was going to catch on fire! this happened while i was driving. After looking online i found i am not the only person who has had this happen! toyota denied the problem.

2010 toyota tacoma 6cyl. - when stopped at traffic lights and the heater or air conditioner is on, the truck lunges forward intermittently.when this happens, it feels like someone has hit me from behind.no one is there and the rpm gauge has gone from the normal 0.5 rpms to 1 rpm on its own.i have been watching this problem and i find that it only happens when the heater or air conditioner is on.it does not happen when these components are off.happened about 12 times now.

I have a 2010 toyota tacoma 2wd. I have a safety problem involving the electronic throttle control [etc]. When applying small pressure to the accelerator as you would in heavy stop and go traffic, the vehicle will sometimes lunge forward. This is an unsafe condition and quite frightening. I have appealed to the dealer who tells me this is normal. I have had the vehicle fishtail while on a slippery surface as a result of the unintended acceleration [ua]. I ask that toyota find a way to fix this problem.

Whenever slowing down from 25 mph to make a turn or just to slow up, when accelerator is again pushed down to speed up, the truck "hunts" for the proper gear, usually shifting to too low a gear for the speed needed (transmission/computerproblem), causing vehicle to pause & not pick up speed. This causes a severe threat of being rear ended or hit in an intersection due to lack of acceleration. Dealers won't fix it or reprogram the computer. I've owned a lot of vehicles & none have had this problem..

Vehicle ignition faulty.after turning the vehicle off, it would not start, would not turn over, the steering wheel was locked in place.i fear that this issue, working sometimes, other times not working, can fail while i'm driving, leaving me to try to operate a vehicle without power and a locked steering column.i brought the truck to a local dealer, no problems were found, though the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership because it was disabled.

The vehicles stability control engages when taking sharp corners, like curvy highways. When the stability control engages it locks the tires up trying to straighten out the vehicle forcing the vehicle into the oncoming traffic lane or off the road. I have to fight the vehicle just to keep it on the road under normal driving conditions. It has scared some of my passengers to the point that they won't ride in my vehicle anymore. I have heard of this happening to other similar toyota's in my area. This incident has occurred many times since i have owned the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that once the vehicle was turned on, the rpms increased to 1500 for seven minutes. The contact stated that the vehicle felt as if it were going to suddenly accelerate. The vehicle was turned off however, the failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure or generate a failure code from diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 14,000 and the current mileage was 25,500. Updated 12/30/13the consumer stated from a cold start, rpm at 1500 did not decrease to a safe rpm 700 for 7 minutes, which caused undue wear and tire to entire drive train, transmission universal joints and rear axle.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle hesitated intermittently without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. As i was turning left into a parking space between two cars, the truck started to accelerate.i applied the breaks, but the car was fighting against the breaks.i put both feet on the brakes and the truck was stopped but the back wheels were spinning at a very high rate causing squealing on the pavement.while "standing with both feet on the brake, i put the truck into neutral - no change in the acceleration.i put the truck into park, the wheels continued to spin...i finally turned off the ignition and the truck jerked and the engine cut.the wheels then stopped.the acceleration lasted about 10 seconds.no one was hurt.no damage to any vehicles.but there could have been sever damages.incident occurred on november 22nd, 2013.

Shortly after i purchased the above vehicle on june 17, 2010 i was in a shopping center parking lot when suddenly the engine raced to a very high speed and i had to quickly place the transmission in neutral to avoid lunging forward.i called the toyota dealer where i purchased the vehicle and they told me to bring it in which i immediately did.without performing any checks on the vehicle the service manager and i went for a drive and he concluded it was the manner i was moving my foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal that caused it to occur.for a while i was satisfied with his answer but on another occasion about a year ago the same thing happened and i thought i had subconsciously did the same thing with my foot to cause the problem.however this past thursday i was again stopped at an intersection and the engine suddenly went into full throttle and my foot was nowhere near the accelerator pedal.once again i had to quickly place the transmission in neutral in order to avoid moving into the intersection and causing an accident.

On 1/2/18 i was driving into a parking lot going slow getting ready to put my truck into reverse to back up into a spot when suddenly without warning an unintended acceleration took place.my truck would not stop accelerating forward with my right foot pressed all the way down on the brake my truck continued to rev up and jump forward with tires rubber burning due to me having my foot on break trying to stop the truck.i missed hitting a car barely and still not sure howi missed it.my foot was clearly on the brake the entire time and finally i put my truck in park and the truck came to a stop, since i was not going down a highway.i reported to toyota and got no where.i have no floor mat in my truck so cant blame it on floor mat.they are claiming it was misapplication of pedal.this is a total lie.i would of hit that car had my foot been on wrong pedal.my foot wason the brake so hard and putting in park stopped the truck.again could hear the engine rev as if stuck in acceleration and my tires burning rubber as i continued to engage brake and truck was jumping forward.toyota has opened a case but again refuse to admit to any problem blaming it on misapplication of pedal.kerry toyota florence ky insists they did inspection but refuse to show me any results from inspection just say they inspected pedal and floor mat, which there is no floor mat.i am not convinced they ran a diagnostic on it.toyota corporation again aware of other cases but still refuse to acknowledge a problem.i am scared now driving wondering when or if will happen again.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop and continued to accelerate while driving down an incline. The rpms increased while the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle was shifted into neutral. The vehicle was turned off and restarted normally. The contact stated that it sounded as if the throttle was stuck. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,500.

A technical service representative stated the engine specifications were set electronically at the factory and the rpm could not be adjusted. Auxiliary audio jack is designed poorly causing failure.front turn signal both sides yellow bulb the connector for the bulb and the bulb itself blackens and is fragile. Fake front bumper cover is misleading and falsely gives a feeling of safety.actual bumper is quite small and may lead to catastrophic injury or death in the event of a moderate overlap collision.the accident or collision occurred with a moderate overlap hitting left 1/4 of front bumper the front left fender was pushed into the door causing more body damage than should have occurred.

I had both of my headlamps replaced by toyota under warranty because they were melting at the daytime running light lens. The drivers side headlamp is melting again. I was told by toyota that the one year warranty given on the new headlamps was over and that they would not be replaced again. I do not think toyota fixed the problem but just replaced the defective headlamps with more defective headlamps to buy time until everyone was out of warranty and they wouldn't have to do anything about it.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact noticed bubbles in the headlamps. The vehicle was taken to bruner auto group (224 early blvd, early, tx 76802) where it was diagnosed that the headlamps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that there was a technical service bulletin and an extended warranty for five years; however, the vehicle was already repaired and the warranty was expired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,965. ..updated 08/22/17 1

Both headlight assemblies are melting from inside from the daytime running lamp bulb heat. All components are stock as-built items, no modifications of any kind. Attempting to get toyota to replace assemblies at this time. Vehicle is a few months out of warranty time but well within miles. The headlightassemblies will eventually melt away and perhaps catch fire if this is not properly rectified. There is surelya design flaw in these headlight assemblies.

The yellow part of the headlight has melted cracking both lenses inside , was told the recall was over and i was to late to have both headlight assemblies replaced . I got nothing in the mail , nothing by the dealer to let me know if was a problem.

The daytime running lights got so hot that the lenses melted and cracked and the light bulb sockets are burned. The lenses are not capable of withstanding the heat generated by the bulbs. Wither the lens plastic is not in federal law compliance, the bulbs are too hot or the bulbs are too close to the plastic lenses. Whatever it is, there will eventually be a fire.

The driving lights on my 2010 toyota tacoma have burnt both headlight lens and cracked one.the servicemanager immediately commented aloud that this was a design issue and the dealership had seen this problem in other like vehicles.a call to toyota received a rapid no! to assuming any responsibility.toyota refused to replace the headlight lens due to the vehicle being out of warranty due to mileage.on november 09, 2013,the toyota rep offered to replace one lamp assembly but the owner had to purchase the second one and assume all labor costs. This is not acceptable considering that this is a manufacturer's design defect. It is unknown if this problem occurred during warranty or at what point afterwards.the vehicle has been regularly serviced at the dealership as per owner's manual yetno technician reported the burnt and cracked lens problem.it was the owner who first noticed the problem april 29, 2013, two days after the vehicle was serviced at the dealership.however that same week, the owner was diagnosed with aggressive cancer and an immediate treatment plan prevented the owner from pursuing the lens issue.

Were pulling out and smell of gas filled up the cab, jerking occurred. Experiences of intermittent acceleration had been occurring for a very long time as been made aware of recently. Smell of gas has been overwhelming. Vehicle now parked outside and will not drive until it can be fixed or replaced, have been warned of potential air bag failure in japanese plants found last week in this model. This vehicle is the only car we have, paid on it for a very long time. I have paid a lot of money to local dealership to keep service up to date, they have been difficult with me even though i have an extended warranty on it. I just had the services done, and had to pay for them, and even though i thought they were doing a good job, my battery died and i pulled the hood open and there was corrosion everywhere on battery and under the hood, i am going to look under the engine and drive train in the morning after looking at this new recall and i will report to toyota financial services in the morning. At this point i am disgusted with the local dealership, i have purchased my last three toyotas there and i will not go back there every again, in fact after these past three years of continual recalls and safety hazards, as well as them not being fixed correctly or not being reimbursed for my time or expenses being lost from this vehicle not being repaired correctly when mine and my children's lives are at stake and my client's that i see in clinical therapy, i will never consider purchasing anything from the toyota cooperation every again.

Manufacturer recall #f0u, dealership replaced catalytic converter but their mechanic damaged the fuel sensor that screws into it. Now the engine warning light stays on, traction control is disabled. I have been back to the dealership 3 times but they refuse to make repairs. The manager is abusive.

I just found my truck is subject to recall number: e12. The safety risk: states possible punctured fuel tank and possible fuel leak could result in fire. The recall status: states "remedy not yet available". This is unacceptable in my mind. Replacing a leaf spring assembly is not that complicated. I hope nhtsa will encourage toyota to react quickly to this design failure.[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Pulling out into traffic the vehicle continued to accelerate rapidly on its own.slammed on the brakes, stopped put car in neutral, engine continued to rev to past the redline, put car in park, stopped engine.

Dear sir or madam:i purchased a 2010 toyota tacomadouble cab 4x4 at the end of 2010.and within months of my purchase i noticed excessive corrosion under the vehicle taking place.i reported theproblem to the dealership and my concerns were eitherdismissed or simply ignored.approximately 1 year later, during the corrosion recall of the previous tacoma's, i reported my observations to the toyota safety recall department.this time i was told i could pay for a corrosion treatment, but no recalls were yet taking place for the 2010 models.i ask you to please look in to the toyota corrosion problem,it extends from 2004 to the present.and it is not about just leaf's that could fracture. It is about toyota failing to acknowledge a problem that was already taking place in other earlier models.

This is a follow-up to odi numbers 10444039 & 10444967.after much work on my part, a toyota factory representative examined the vehicle in question on three separate occasions.the factory represenative was able to reproduce the occurence twice.the solution or guess at the time, was to replace the automatic transmission.this was done on 3/12/12.the problem still occurs.i have experienced and documented the occurrence over 150 times since december 2010. Last contact with the toyota executive branch deemed the vehicle to be operating as "designed".final outcome was made after finding another vehicle (just one) like mine in the state of virginia.that vehicle was taken out and driven by a factory representative.that vehicle also shuddered while breaking to and maintaing the speed of 20mph.final analysis/answer was that the computer had a problem with open and closed loops and a temperature involving 138 degree's.no further solutions were offered; vehicle "operating as designed".as of this date the vehicle in question has less then 19,000 miles and the following work has been done in an attempt to rectify that occurence "operating as designed";1) front rotors ground twice2) a new transmission was installed3) new rotors were placed on the vehicle to replace the ground ones.two links that do work for anyone having problems are listed below:[xxx](customer retention [xxx])[xxx](president & coo[xxx])information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2010 toyota tacoma engine try to accelerate by it self while stop at a red light. My wife held her foot on the brake to keep it from running into the intersection the tire were spinning while it was sitting still.also my transmission seems to slip when i give it gas between 8 to 12 mph. I told the toyota dealer about ithe said that he hasn't received any reports from toyota on these two problems he didn't seem to interested in my problem.

The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.updated 1/16/15the consumer also stated the vehicle would stall. Updated 01/27/15

Several months after purchasing my new vehicle (purchased 8/2010) i started to notice a shudder through the floor board and steering column.the shudder occurred sporatically and always at 20mph.it reminded me of driving over the rumble strips cut along freeways and prior to toll boths.the sudder occurs on upgrades, downgrades, turns, and flat roadways.a toyota dealership has worked on the vehicle several times and been unable to locate the problem.i have been told that the dealership cannot reproduce the incident and that the vehicle is "operating as designed".dave zellers (customer retention for toyota) assisted in my complaint and in the end refunded $890.00 as a sign of good faith (extended warranty price).toyota has ground the front disks on two separate service occasions stating they were not flat.they have cut more metal from the front disks than i have used with only 14,000 plus miles on the vehicle.the problem still exists.i now believe there is a fluid restriction in the transmission or a problem in the drive train.once the incident stopped when i placed the transmission into neutral.i have recorded the incidents and they have occurred at least 106 times and are still happening.toyota has more or less written my complaints off closing out my last complaint number filed at the customer service line.this vehicle is a 4 cylinder 2wheel drive.

My 2010 tacoma, while sitting at a stop light, suddenly surges as if somebody hit the gas or slammed me in the rear.it hasn't pushed me beyond my brakes but it is very disturbing.i reported this to the toyota dealer and they said they couldn't reproduce it.it doesn't happen with any regularity, it just happens out of the blue.additionally, when you go to very low speeds and make a sharp turn the rpms jump to about 3,000 and then it feels like the transmission kicks in.this was also reported to the dealer who said it was by design but if it is it is poor design.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the vehicle developed a loud noise in the differential. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the occurrence was normal for the differential. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was stated as performing according to standards. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 34,000 and the current mileage was 44,000.

The transmission, while driving, has a jerky shifting motion. Additionally, when stopped at lets say a red light, the transmission prior to driving away, will seem like it engages with an extreme jerking motion, almost feeling like you've been rear ended.

Bought my 2010 tacoma used.did not observe any issues during long test drive.very next day began to notice auto transmission not finding correct gear after slowing then making a turn; does not happen when truck is brought completely to rest with pause before the turns.i also notice transmission shudder at times when slowing in straightline; feels same as clutch slip / stall with manual trans if gear too high for speed.and my transmission downshifts too deep when i brake medium hard going downhill.i have begun to manually shift during turns without stops.had dealer inspect transmission fluid & system at first oil change and discussed observations with service tech.was told mine is fine, operating normally, & that these transmissions are hyper-active. Beginning to think my toyota selection was a mistake.does anyone make a trouble-free vehicle these days?

While driving at 40mph the frontjoint of the propeller shaft broked awayand the proppeller falled away from the truck, hitting and damaging other truck's components until stoping

I felt vibrations while i was on the interstate. I exited and came to a stop at the off ramp intersection. When clear i began accelerating onto the hwy when i felt 3 loud knocks and heard loud noises thereafter loosing power. I pulled over and saw the front yoke of the driveshaft broke.

Toyota tacoma 4x4 access cab, 5sp, 2.7 liter.clutch failing at 40000 miles.toyota refuses to offer any assistance with the $2200 repair.

While slowing and making right or left turns, my 2010 tacoma v-6 4x2 automatic transmission will slip into either neutral or first gear for several seconds (typically 2 or 3).engine rpm increase and then transmission shifts into the correct gear with a lurch.this defect makes left turns, across traffic, especially difficult and dangerous, since you never know if it will happen and how long it will take to hunt for and find the "right" gear.i first notice the issue after driving about 75 miles (have a little over 800 miles now).been to dealer twice.demonstrated problem with service manager in the truck.he had no solution for the problem.he "hopes" toyota will come out with a fix.toyota has a similar defect with the 2009 tacomas and issued on november 3, 2009 technical service bulletin t-sb-0373-09.but tsb only eliminated the defect in the 2009 model.does not address 2010 trucks.this defect needs to be resolved quickly before someone get injured.

2010 tacoma crew cab with 18,000 miles, automatic transmission.when the vehicle is cold or warm it seems to slip out of gear going around corners or accelerating from a stop in a straight line. This does not occur everytime but at unexpected times.also after i have slowed down to round a corner or cross an intersection the truck feels as if it shifts to neutral gear and when the gas pedal is depressed no forward movement occurs.it acts like it has no throttle response.after anywhere from 2 to 6 seconds it starts moving forward again and starts moving as if nothing ever happened. This problem does not occur at every corner, stop or light but does happen in the middle of intersections and changing lanes.so far i have had 5 near collisions in less than one week. Vehicle was taken to toyota dealership to take care of the issue and the dealership said they found no issues with their first test drive, have never seen this problem and are trying to find the problem.

The vehicle surges unexpectedly.one or more times a day, depending on travel needs, i experience surges both at complete stops and when accelerating.depressing the accelerator pedal from a stop or roll includes a "delay" in response from the vehicle, then the unexpected surge is noticed.generally, a small amount of pressure on the pedal does not yield a desired acceleration effect, instead a "wait and go" effect is experienced.several times, this delay has caused near misses in terms of accidents.expecting the vehicle to respond to accelerator pressure but not getting acceleration is considered hazardous.surging forward violently when at a complete stop is another concern.with the brakes completely depressed, the vehicle will surge forward at most traffic lights or during stop and go traffic.this vehicle was brought to the dealer a week after purchase with my concerning of shifting and sometime erratic behavior.the dealership did little more than take a short test drive with me (no diagnostics, no formal or mechanical evaluation), and tell me nothing was wrong with the truck.the truck had less than 1000 miles on it, now with 2600 miles, the problems persist.

While slowing to 10-12 mph my 2010 tacoma v-6 4x4 's automatic transmission will slip into what seems to be neutral for about 2-3 seconds. Engine rpm's will rise to about 2500-3000 rpm's before transmission re-engages. This situation has nearly gotten me involved in 5 accidents. I first noticed the problem when the vehicle had about 150 miles on it. The problem seems to occur when you slow for either a left or right turn or when you slow to 10-12 mph and then try to resume power . Vehicle has been to selling dealer 3 times to have this issue resolved but has not been fixed. Dealers transmission mechanic went for a test drive with me and this condition was duplicated within 5 minutes. Toyota customer service has been notified and so far no fix has been forthcoming. This is a very dangerous condition and could cause a very serious accident.

2010 tacoma crew cab with 10,000 miles, automatic transmission. When the vehicle is warm (driven) and stopped (at a light or stop sign), when the accelerator is pressed to begin driving again the transmission will not always engage immediately.there are times it takes two to three seconds for the transmission to 'catch' and the truck to begin moving. You can hear the engine rev up but the truck will not move. Pressing harder on the accelerator to get the truck to move does nothing but rev the engine, and when the transmission does catch the vehicle can lurch forward rapidly accelerating. This situation can be very dangerous if you are not 'ready' for it.

2010 toyota tacoma double cab pre-runner, i have experience a sudden jerk (like other car has hitme on the rear) while i was stopped and the brake was pressed while waiting at the traffic light. It happened to me three time for five days after i brought my truck to the dealership to repair thisproblem, which they said that there is no problem and it is just because the tacoma has a sequential type of transmission..

L have a 2010 tacoma the transmission was slipping took it in at 500 miles and they said it would work in ,it didn't at 1100 miles l took it back and then they said l should make an appointment at 1700 miles l made an appointment ,they reset the computer and it still slipped and they flush the system and now it's worse, they contactedtoyota and they said the engineers were working on the problem and they'll get back with me when they fix it , in the mean time drive the truck , which, is getting worse.

My tacoma 2010 seems to slip out of gear going around corners -- after i've slowed down to round the corner the truck revs high when the gas pedal is depressed again.after a few seconds it lurches forward when it finally gets into gear.this problem occurs at almost all corners, but not from a stopped position. I do no think the corner causes the problem, it's just that the truck is downshifting, then up-shifting again.i noticed this behavior within the first week i had the truck, and it has been getting worse ever since.i took it into a toyota dealership who said they applied a software patch and that it is now "fixed."the dealership says the truck's computer does not show any problem "codes" that would indicate a problem.i will pick up the truck tomorrow, so i don't know at this time if it indeed has been fixed.

Since this vehicle had 5000 miles on it i have had clutch issues. Has been in the shop 5 times for clutch issues and is currently in the shop now. The clutch is burning up, thought the truck was going to catch fire a few weeks ago. There has been a tsb on this issue and they replaced everything on the last service. It has failed again with on 3,000 miles on this new clutch. The vehicle is a little over 1 year old and currently has 23,000 miles on it. Toyota is giving me the run a round and now wants me to pay for warranty work. I have repeatedly told them they have a weak design clutch, made for a 2 wheel drive vehicle in a 4x4 truck. We think the clutch slipped so much a fewago it really did catch fire, it smoked for 10 minutes after i turned the truck off. I have filed with the houston bbb and filed with toyota. I need help

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. While driving 55 mph, an unknown humming sound emitted from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the driveshaft needed to be repaired. No repairs were made to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that when the vehicle was being brought to a stop, there was a thump that came from the drive shaft. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the slip joint and the drive shaft bearing support joint were causing the failure. The dealer also stated that this was a known failure, but the manufacturer had not found a correction to the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the slip joint should not come apart, but it could cause the drive shaft to fail and need to be replaced. The failure mileage was 18,000 and the current mileage was 23,590....updated 10/19/12updated 10/25/2012

The clutch arm on the 2010 tacoma is so far to the left that it obstructs the footrest.if i use the footrest, my left foot tends to hit the side of the clutch pedal or gets stuck between the clutch pedal and the driver's side kick panel when i raise my foot to apply the clutch.also, on a long drive, if i try to stretch my leg out while driving, my left foot gets stuck between the foot rest and the back of the clutch arm.it has not caused an accident, yet.but, i have stalled the vehicle on several occasions as a result.the potential is definitely there for a more serious accident.

Vehicle is a 2010 toyota tacoma dbl cab, the transmission searches for the right gear to accelerate in once the speed gets 15mph or lower and you press the gas peddle. At 1st it was just annoying, but recently i was turning a corner at a signal light behind another veh. And it slammed on it's brakes, i went to go into the passing lane, but when i accelerated, the transmission didn't respond, it just revs up trying to find the gear. By the time it did, i was watching in my mirror and an oncoming vehicle started hitting their brakes to avoid hitting me.which wouldn't have been an issue if my truck would have gone when i pressed the gas.this occurs every time you are going at a rate over 25 mph and slow down to at least 15 mph and then try to accelerate again. Ie: crossing highways.i purchased this truck oct. 21, 2009 and had it back to the dealership on nov 9th, 2009 with this issue, the tech drove it, acknowledged it, and told me all the newer vehicles arethat way, & have had others come in with the same issue.nothing else has been done to try to fix this. I believe this could lead to potential accidents and injuries, if not worse.

2010 tacoma 4cyl, 5 speed. Clutch started slipping during acceleration in 4th gear. First occurrence happened at 10700 miles. Truck now has 13500 miles and the issue has gotten worse. Vehicle has been to the dealer 3 times for resolution. Service department says they can't duplicate and refuse to do anything else. Slipping occurs in every gear except 1st. Dangerous when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic. Rpm's surge but the vehicle does not accelerate.

While driving 70 mph on the interstate, my drivers side brake line completely broke off. This was due to excessive rust. The truck is only 8 years old. The truck frame had been sprayed with the anti rust coating by toyota a year prior. The brake line was not covered in the toyota frame rust recall. This is a very serious condition and i had no prior indications that the brake line was faulty.

I have a toyota tacoma 2010. The way the brake and gas pedals are configured i frequently hit the gas pedal along with the brake pedal. The brake pedal when depressed goes almost to the floor. The pedals are so close together that the gas pedal is sometimes intercepted whilebraking causing the engine to race. This especially happens when backing up and my body is contorted to see out the rear windshield. It also happens frequently when wearing boots.i do not feel safe in this vehicle. I have referred the problem to the dealer. They say they have no remedy for the problem. I have gone to arbitration to no avail. Now i learn that toyota has a fix for this problem introduced in the 2011 models. The fix is referred to as smart stop technology [sst]. They disable the electronic throttle control when the brake pedal is depressed. I have asked toyota to retrofit my vehicle with this fix but so far i am being stonewalled.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer in order have the brake override system installed. The mechanic also advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer since the warranty was valid. The contact did not take the vehicle to the for further diagnostic testing since the dealer installed the brake override system a week prior to the crash.the failure mileage was 7,000.

Ltr on behalf of concerning the safety of his 2010 toyota tacoma pickup truck due to mechanical errors with the accelerator and brake pedal; reply attn bilal malik/patchogue district office; dot # 2011-1195 *tgwthe consumer stated when the accelerator pedal was applied lightly from a stop, the vehicle would sometimes lurch forward enough to throw his head back into the headrest. On slippery road surfaces the vehicle fishtailed.also, when the brake pedal was applied, it would travel closely to the floor, lower than the accelerator pedal. The consumer stated the accelerator and brake pedal were designed too close together and sometimes his foot would hit the accelerator pedal while attempting to brake.

The steering would become stiff and then loose causing loss of control at both low and high speeds.when trying to park the truck felt like there was no power steering.when making turns the steering would be hard then all of a sudden soft causing loss of control.when toyota was contacted i was told there were no recalls or service bulletins. The local mechanic said to have the power steering fluid fllushed did that no change, then was told to have the power steering pump changed as well as the rack.had the power steering pump replaced, no change.in researching the problem on the internet i found multiple reports that were similar to mine, some spoke about the u joint failing and in some cases there were reports of accidents or complete loss of steering.had the u joint replaced and all issues were resolved.toyota says there are no issues with the u joints.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that while ascending an incline and making turns at unknown speeds, the steering wheel and brake pedal suddenly became stiff. The contact also stated that the vehicle ran rough. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to return the vehicle to the dealer for further testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 3,000.

It suddenly became hard to steer, it would turn easily (normal effort) part of the way, and feel stiff or tight part of the way. This problem started off intermittently but then became constant. Not only was it risky making a turn because at first you applied more force than normal and suddenly it became easier to turn causing oversteer. It did not want to seem to return to straight when you finished the turn. This problem was there whether you went fast or slow and on all surfaces. We had just paid nearly $500 last week to fix my other son's tacoma when i drove this tacoma and it has exactly the same problem. This should probably should never go bad.

Super stiff steering issue after replacing power steering pump and serpentine belt. Was searching and found out about intermediate u joint in the steering shaft. Took to midas were they applied pb blaster to u joint that was ceased. Seems to effect many cars and needs to be checked by dealerships as part of routine maintenance. Mine needs replaced and i have been to multiple toyota dealerships in part few months and should have been caught.

While driving in town, the steering wheel slid forward, almost into dash. Checking telescopic lock, and tilt lever to see if secure. Pulled back on steering wheel to out position, the steering column completely pulled apart and fell into my lap. Updated 10/16/12*lj

The steering was very stiff on my tacoma. I found that it is due to rust forming on the universal joint in the intermediate steering shaft. I found online that this is a common/known issue.

Tacoma was being driven on a highway when steering shaft bound up, causing a sudden steering lockup that momentarily caused the truck to lose control. My toyota dealer diagnosed (and replaced for about $550) the intermediate shaft and u joints. The shaft u joint in question is reportedly directly exposed to the elements with no rubber boot or proper lubrication, which makes this dangerous condition likely and caused the premature failure and unsafe condition. I think toyota should reimburse me for the defective parts and resulting required service.

I was turning into a parking lot thank goodness when the whole steering column fell in my lap. I have pictures of what it looked like when i got out and had it towed. Toyota said they were not at fault it was from a fender bender in november.... And when my insurance company went to look at it they said it was a manufacturer defect. How many steering columns come out driving with no accident.

The vehicle's steering became very stiff on tight turns and would not recenter itself after a turn. It was not consistent. At times the steering was normal, but another 1/4 turn of the steering wheel would be very difficult. It was diagnosed as a faulty steering intermediate shaft. A poorly designed part allowed the universal joint to fail.

Steering is very loose on off road driving / or "washboard" type road- there is currently a toyotatsb (technical service bulletin) #0119-10 out right now with a solution to the problem. Solution= replace intermediate shaft. After reading all the posts online, this needs to be a safety recall. My truck only has 85,000 miles on it with loose steering. And has been like this for some time!

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact was driving 35 mph and making a slight left turn when all of the tension in the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact experienced difficulty in controlling the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who inspected the failure and advised the contact that they needed to replace the steering assembly, column, and spiral cable.in addition, the vehicle would also need to have a wheel alignment performed. The manufacturer was notified and a claim was filed. They offered no other assistance.the failure mileage was 41,144.phone log (15-oct-2012): mr. Hong said that the steering wheel turned freely but there was no vehicle steering control. He was not sure what actually failed in the steering column.he said that he is the original owner, that there was no prior accident with the vehicle, and that there were no prior repairs that required disassembly of the steering wheel or the steering column.

Steering seizes while driving making it nearly impossible to steer. This is extremely dangerous as i have been stuck in a turning position while entering traffic. I narrowly avoided being struck on my drivers side by oncoming traffic.

Steering became noticeably tough during normal driving with the steering wheel binding and holding during a turn and then not easily returning to a centered position.normal, smooth operation of the steering wheel never returned and the vehicle's intermediary steering shaft needed to be replaced.

Rusted frame unable to be inspected

I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this or not but here goes....brought my tacoma in to the dealership regarding a recall related to possible frame corrosion.from their inspection it was found the frame was indeed corroded and unsafe to drive.i am told i need a new frame and the process will take 4 months.they did offer me a very nice rental vehicle.the issue i have is they said when the frame comes in they will need to totally rebuild the truck on the new frame (understandable). What i didn't like was the mention of the possibility of having to replace some parts during the rebuild.labor would be free but i would have to pay for parts.i have had this truck for years without any issues...i love this truck. I am now worried i will incur a cost of parts i would have never had to replace and am also worried about future issues moving forward as a result of this total rebuild.is this my only option at this point??i would almost consider purchasing another tacoma instead of wondering what issues may result from this total rebuild.do i have any options?

Hi. My name is [xxx]and i bought my 2010 tacoma ( vin. [xxx] ) used around 2 years ago from shelor motor mile. I love the truck. The only problem is i noticed the frame is starting to rust apart. I don't go offroad or anything. I just use the truck to drop my 5 year old off at school and go to work mostly. I've been trying to put used oil on it to slow it down but i'm not sure if it's going to be enough. I noticed a hole in the frame and now i'm not sure if it will pass next inspection. I also worry that other welds could be rusting and it possibly break if i hit a bump on the interstate and throw me off the road. I still owe around $8,000 on the truck. I'm not sure what to do. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

May 2014. Middle leaf spring (of a total of 3 leaf springs) on left side of vehicle cracked. Toyota charged $275 to repair it.november 2014. Toyota issues a safety recall notice for possible leaf spring fracture. They do not issue a remedy and do not offer to replace any leaf springs. They mention a second letter that will authorize leaf spring replacement, which as of today (27 july 2015)has not yet been issued. July 2015. One leaf spring on right side of vehicle cracks and is removed by toyota dealer. Customer is told to drive vehicle until replacement spring arrive with only two leaf springs on right side of vehicle. 27 july 2015. Leaf springs replaced on both sides of vehicle with a heavier construction 4-leaf spring assembly. My complaint is that toyota issued a safety recall notice in november 2014 and 9 months later they do not have a solution. They have replaced my leaf springs only because they broke. I do not think that toyota takes the obligations of vehicle safety seriously. They are negligent in allowing people to drive around in vehicles with underrated leaf springs. They allowed me to drive around with one fewer leaf spring on the right side of my vehicle. And they have not to date reimbursed me for my first leaf spring repair (toyota customer service tells me it may take one or two years from now before i receive a letter allowing me to apply for reimbursement).i appreciate your investigation of this situation.

Preliminary springs recall on tacoma pickup trucksi have received two letters from toyota over the last two and half years concerning a preliminary recall on the springs.their claim is that they are still trying to figure out how to correct the problem.i do not believe that.toyota has become experts at stonewalling and in the meantime, thousands of tacoma owners are driving a vehicle that squeaks so loud that people are continually asking what is wrong with your truck.anyone who has tried to sell or trade their tacoma has had to absorb a significantly reduced price/value, for no one wants to wait another three years for toyota to execute the recall.this lack of action is similar to what toyota did concerning the headlight lenswhich cracked or burned due to the heat from the amber bulbs.it tookover two years to get toyota to admit that there was a problem and provide replacement headlight assemblies.even our local dealer questions the motives of toyota in not resolving the problem that they created.thank you for putting pressure on toyota to execute a recall the vehicles having problems with the springs and to correct them.thank you for your service to the citizens of the usa.

Experiencing a clunking and banging from the rear of my truck that matches the description listed in the recall letter we received pertaining to the failure of rear leaf springs on our 2010 toyota tacoma trd. On visual inspection, found that some of the leaf plates have moved out of position which can develop into a dangerous situation. We live 50 miles from the closest toyota dealership and may need to have the vehicle towed because of the safety issues. We only have the one vehicle and because of family/medical matters, would need some type of loaner vehicle if our truck is to be kept by the service dept. For more than one day.

Takata recall: called toyota dealer 05/24/2016 i was told no parts were available at this time and that it would be in the week after someone from the service dept will call to schedule. On 06/07/2016 i left a follow up message. The service dept got back to me and said she didn't know what i was talking about because they have a scheduled apt for me to bring my vehicle, mind you i have not received a message. Finally after a month today we took our truck in this morning only to get called 30 minutes later that they made a mistake and have no parts in stock and will call me once they have it again. That right there is unacceptable. My husband and i had to adjust our work schedule losing hours to bring our truck in only to be called later. They couldn't tell us the day before when they called to confirm the appointment or when we checked in.

Recall for rear leaf spring - nhtsa recall 14v-604. "rear suspension system contains leaf springs that are constructed of either three or four leaves. There is a possibility that a leaf could fracture due to stress and corrosion. If this occurs and the vehicle continues to be operated, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components, including the fuel tank. If the broken leaf contacts the fuel tank repeatedly, it could puncture the tank and cause a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, this could result in a fire."we have been trying to get this resolved on our vehicle for the past 4 years.toyota has been contacted by us numerous times and they continue to say they will contact the toyota headquarters to get this resolved.our vehicle was shipped to gambia, west africa in 2014, before receiving this recall, for our personal use there.the toyota dealership in the gambia, cfao, told us that if toyota would ship the part to them, they would install it in our vehicle.toyota has been notified several times over the past 4 years and they continue to say they will forward the request to their headquarters (in japan?), but we have never received any response to these requests and, therefore, the status of our vehicle is still recall incomplete.according to the recall letters received, it says that any authorized toyota dealer will inspect, and if necessary, replace the leaf springs at no charge to us.we want this part to be shipped to the toyota dealer in the gambia, west africa:cfao toyota, mamadi maniyang hwy, kanifing, gambia.their phone number is:220-439-6906 and fax number is: 220-439-6687.

I was notified of a recall on my tacoma leaf springs about a year ago. Then 3 months later or so i was notified that "the fix" was ready and that i should call my dealer to set up an appointment. I did so in about april of 2016. I have heard nothing since, even though i've contacted them asking when this repair could be done. They "had no information."

In september 2016 i was informed of safety recall and put on wait list. Called riverside toyota rome ga march 2017 and was told still waiting on parts with 250 people on wait list in front of me. Not toyotas fault but fault of outsourced parts

I purchased this vehicle brand new in may 2010. I saw a sticker in my door jam that notes modifications to my vehicle had been made to reduce the load carrying capacity. After doing some research i learned there was a recall in february 2010 that led to the modification. When i purchased my vehicle the salesman did not reveal to me there had been a recall or any changes had been made to my vehicle. I contacted the local dealership as well as the headquarters office on 12/08/2010, 01/06/2011, & 01/13/2011. They gave me a case number & told me after the 3rd attempt to call there was nothing else they could do. To this very date i still can not get anyone @ the local dealership or toyota headquarters to return my call in reference to this. I am still not clear on what modifications were made & how it impacts my vehicle. I am not happy with the treatment i have received from toyota and feel if they sold me a faulty vehicle that it should be taken back.

Recall number 14v604 - rear suspension leaf springs. One of the leafs on the drivers side rear spring has broke and moved out of position and is hitting the rear brake line. Please see photos attached. I spoke with toyota and after some extensive dialog have been assured that when i take it to the dealer and it is confirmed that the spring is indeed broke, that the dealer will temporarily remedy the defect at no cost to me. Additionally, when toyota has a remedy for the above mentioned recall, i will be notified and the vehicle will be repaired to satisfy the recall. I bring attention to it on this site as the recall mentions only that the leaf could hit the fuel tank; this is to show that it could also hit the brake line which is an additional safety issue. Thank you

I recently purchased a used 2010 toyota tacoma. I was informed that there is a safety recall (nhtsa reference id 14v604) on the rear leaf springs. The recall was issued in september 2014 and toyota has still not developed a remedy for this safety issue. Does the nhtsa have any recourse to compel toyota to develop a remedy? the recall has been issued for more than one year and there is still no remedy.

Received letter from toyota in november of 2014 about a pending safety recall to my toyota tacoma. The letter stated that there was a defect in the rear leaf springs that could cause the leaf to break and rupture the gas tank. The letter stated that an additional recall notice would be mailed to me when parts are available. Today may 22, 2015 (7) months later, i contacted toyota and was informed the parts are not available. Toyota has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable amount of time.

Toyota has notified me (nhtsa recall number: 14v604) on september 29, 2014 and again in september, 2015 concerning the rear suspension system of my tacoma toyota truck. I am very concerned that this safety recall 'fix' has gone on much too long. I have contacted my local dealer twice to see about this recall but they say they have not received the needed parts from toyota. In the mean time my leaf springs occasionally make noises described by the dealer as a potential safety problem. My question: why is it taking toyota so long to repair what appears to be a simple problem? am i endangering my family and myself by continuing to drive my 2010 tacoma?

Received a safety recall notice from toyota for the rear leaf spring on 12/1/2014.it states the leaf springs can rust, fail and accidentally puncture the gas tank causing a fire. They have yet to produce a remedy and continue to stall instead of taking action to fix the problem. This could ultimately be a life threatening situation and toyota continues to delay.i do not feel toyota has the customers best interest in mind and are purely stalling for monetary reasons.

On 14 nov 2020, i called coggins toyota, in jacksonville, florida in regards to a recall on leaf springs for my 2010 tacoma. Per the recall remedy on their website, "toyota will replace the leaf springs with newly designed ones."the supervisor at coggins (jenny, i believe) told me the remedy would only be implemented if the defect can be physically identified via inspection, regardless of what it says on their recall web site. She refused to implement the remedy in spite of the risk factors, which include possible fire involving the fuel tank. Toyota should be required to mitigate the hazard, not wait for it to present itself and cause harm or death.per the toyota recall website:vin: [xxx]year: 2010 make: toyota model: tacomarecall date: september 29, 2014manufacturer recall number: e02description;the subject vehicles' rear suspension system contains leaf springs that are constructed of either three or four leaves. There is a possibility that a leaf could fracture due to stress and corrosion. If this occurs and the vehicle continues to be operated, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components, including the fuel tank.safety risk:if the broken leaf contacts the fuel tank repeatedly, it could puncture the tank and cause a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, this could result in a fire.remedy:toyota will replace the leaf springs with newly designed ones.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Took truck to toyota dealership requesting rear leaf spring on passenger side to be replaced after i realized it squeaks all the time and received recall notice about spring. Was told by toyota dealership that they couldn't do the repairs b/c it has a lift kit on the truck and in order for them to preform the job they would have to take my lift kit off at my expense. Leaf spring is still squeaking. I even asked if toyota would pay for the leaf spring and let me have someone else install and was told no. Now i have a squeaky leaf spring that could fail at any time and it's my responsibility to pay to get it fixed even though there has been a recall on the product.

I was notified in early 2015 (not sure of the actual date) of a pending recall nhtsa# 14v604 or toyota # e02 regarding a problem with rear suspension leaf spring assemblies. I received a second letter(in 2015)about the same issue noting that a solution will be in place in early 2016. I have not heard from toyota regarding this issue in 2016 yet the issue recall is still active on the nhtsa data base. At this time, i have not had an incident with my vehicle but am disappointed that toyota has been so deliberate in fixing the problem. That is my complaint.

Regarding recall # 14v-604. Took vehicle in for inspection on nov 8, 2016 at big island toyota, located in kailua kona, hi.dealership said truck failed inspection.said replacement parts would arrive in six to eight months.seems unreasonable amount of time to repair a defective vehicle.

I have comunincated with toyota through thier channels and received no new or updated information. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)we recently purchased a new 2010 toyota tacoma.on its first long distance trip, with less that 2000 miles on the vehicle and barely a month old, the rear factory installed high performance bilstein rear shocks got so hot that the oil sprayed out of the top seal melting the boots and getting them so hot the plastic material dripped down and coated the connection to the rear axle.the shocks completely failed at that point. When i took it into toyota of orange, in orange california where we purchased the vehicle, they informed me there was a bulletin out on the rear springs.they replaced both the springs and the shocks. I have written them several times to find out whether the shocks were faulty, or if it was a rear spring issue, or just a poor design with the vehicle, but have not heard back from them to date. This is a serious safety concern for the vehicle is unstable when the shocks failed. We are trying to get an answer as to why this vehicle, with both factory installed off-road and tow packages, failed with only a couple hundred pounds in the bed.it may be a real serious safety problem if this occurs when we have a load in the bed or a pulling a trailer. Also, you may want to contact toyota and find out why this happened.if it is a systemic problem with this vehicle, there should be a recall out and not just a bulletin to prevent someone from getting seriously injured.our contact at toyota of orange is arlene hopkins [xxx]; the dealership is located at 1400 n. Tustin ave, orange, ca 92865.she has not emailed a response to our concerns and it has been over almost two weeks. The vin # on the truck is [xxx].thanks

Frame rust. The truck was purchased in a cold weather state and was operated in a cold weather state for 7 years before it was registered in a non cold weather state. Frame has excessive rust and has been inspected multiple times but the frame 'passes.' since the truck is now not in a cold weather state it seems to be okay and they don't want to fix the problem yet service advisors say they wouldn't want their frame to look like that and urged me to contact toyota customer service yet that is a dead end with absolutely no fix to my frame. I also ran into a problem when i went to trade it in and the sales men at the dealer mentioned the frame rust. It's not a problem when i own the vehicle but all of a sudden becomes a problem/issue if i want to trade it in. That makes absolutely no sense. Furthermore, the toyota dealership in kentucky that replaced my rear leaf springs for a recall were the ones that contacted me regarding the frame warranty enhancement and the lady specifically told me that toyota will put a corrosion compound on the frame to 'protect' it. Evidently rust gets better with age and i have nothing to worry about but i know people have known how negligent toyota has been with rust prevention on their frames in previous year tacomas. Please help me get my truck fixed along with people that are having the same problem.

I was driving approximately 30 mph with the driver's window down, when a running deer made contact with my driver's side mirror with it's head. The mirror was violently shut into it's folded-in position causing the mirror to shatter and project large and small pieces of very sharp glass across the dashboard and forward area of the cabin. Damage that was done in the glass' path were cuts on my left hand, slice marks on the steering wheel cover, and puncture marks on the dashboard, passenger-side a-pillar, and passenger-side door panel. Incorrect mirror material and/or proper backing material played parts in what could have been a catastrophic event if the debris field was directed towards the driver and/or passenger (if there was one). The mirror material was not safety glass or made from of a shatter-resistant material. The backing material surface contact area with the back of the mirror was only about 45% of the mirror's surface area.

The sidewalls on all 4 tireshave spiderweb cracks. Some of these cracks are making their way to the tread.the tires are michelin ltx245/75r16 lre purchased @ costco 9/06/13, all have 9/32s tread, and have been driven 36,000 miles. Called michelin and was told to go to sears for an inspection. Sears called michelin. I was offered 4 new tires (a good will gesture) for $772.56. That is twice as much i paid for tire i'm driving on now. I think that if i keep driving on these tires (there is lots of tread left) the tire will blow -out. We were part of the firestone recall in 1999. I was old that the cracking is common in michelin....that doesnot seem right.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The contact stated several times that the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 21,500 and the current mileage was 26,000.

2010 toyota tacoma sr5 spontaneously accelerates when stopped.this has occurred twice since we bought the truck on 5-30-11.after the first incident (6-26) we reported it to the dealer and took the truck in for inspection.nothing was found.the dealer removed the driver's floor mat.after the second incident (6/29), we called the dealer and the dealer said they would contact toyota and call us back.as of 7-01-11, we have not heard back from the dealer.now at a stop, we put the truck in neutral to prevent an accident.

S10 appropriate handling re toyota acceleration problem fm owner of a 2010 toyota tacoma truck.the consumer stated the engine raced and the vehicle lurched forward. The consumer applied the brake as hard as he could and quickly placed the vehicle in park. The next day, the vehicle was inspected, but the vehicle was performing as designed.the consumer was informed his vehicle was not a part of the recall. Updated 05/12/10.

The pedals on the truck are too close together and the brake pedal depresses almost to the floor. When wearing heavy boots and especially when backing, the accelerator is often depressed when braking with the driver in total alarm as the engine is racing while the brakes are being heavily applied to keep the vehicle from breaking away. I have had several scary close calls as a result of having to quickly apply b rakes due to a traffic situation whereas if you release the brake to stop the engine from racing the vehicle lunges forward.another problem is that the etc [electronic throttle control] causes the vehicle to lurch forward suddenly when you want to accelerate slowly as you would do in stop and go traffic or when starting after a traffic light turns green.i complained to toyota who is in denial and even went to arbitration and lost. A simple fix would be to disable the etc when the brake pedal is depressed. I thought that toyota's smart braking system might remedy my situation. Toyota insists no.meanwhile i am driving an unsafe vehicle. I hope you can get me some help.

The contact owns a 2010 toyota tacoma. The driver stated that he was driving in a large parking lot at approximately 2 mph into a parking space. The driver was coming to a complete stop, and engaged the brake pedal when the vehicle accelerated on its own and crashed into a concrete column. He was not injured. The failure mileage was 3,200.

While driving on interstate highway at the posted limit, the vehicle set speed would sag by 2 mph at the bottom of a hill as the road leveled out, then it would start up the next hill with a 2 mph deficit.as t proceeded up the hill,it would downshift to maintain speed, then downshift again to 3rd gear and accelerate over the top of the hill in 3rd gear until it would overspeed, exceeding the set speed by 3 mph as it went over the top of the hill.this would cause the vehicle to accelerate closer to the vehicles in front of it that were maintaining their set speed.i believe this is caused by the slow throttle response of the speed control system.the slow response causes the system to miss its assigned speed, then it overcompensates to "make up for it".i believe this is unsafe as it creates a speed differential in a platoon of vehicles that heretofore have been maintaining a set speed in concert.

2010 toyota tacoma new vehicle owned less than 2 months with 1200 miles on vehicle.approaching red light had taken foot off accelerator to slow, upon placing foot on brake , realized, vehicle was not slowing.standing harder on brake,it held the truck back enough to bump into car infront of me.truck continued to push the vehicle infront of me, with rear wheels spinning on wet roadway...i jammed shift lever into park position with motor and tires still spinning to finally stop it.not apparent damage to either vehicle or injuries known.took truck local dealer to check diagnosis and vehicle.they found nothing , could not duplicate problem and test drive.i currently have truck parked in my driveway.will not drive it because i feel it is unsafe and have reported the incident to toyota hqs ref # 1008262334.

I turned left into a best buy parking space. My foot covered the brake as i slowly coasted in. My 2010 tacoma began speeding up. I hit the brakes as hard as i could, stopped the tacoma. I turned the ignition off, put the tacoma in park. This was not floor mat related, since the dealer did not supply floor mats with the tacoma. I never touched the gas pedal. I shopped, then brought the tacoma to pauly toyota, crystal lake, il, where the service dept. Took it immediately. The truck is 3 weeks old, less than 1000 miles on it.

While driving in northern kentucky on a slight incline in hilly country southbound on i-75, i disengaged cruise control when a vehicle pulled in front of me. When vehicle moved off the highway about 15 seconds later, i re-engaged cruise control (at approx 65 mph) at which point the vehicle accelerated on its own to over 85 mph. I then disengaged cruise control and the vehicle normally decelerated. The exact same thing happened two (2) months earlier while traveling on an interstate in north carolina under the same circumstances (elevation around 2500-3000 ft on an incline). I reported this to the toyota dealer last week and they said there is a recall to "reflash the computer" on my 2010 tacoma v6. I have seen no reference to such a recall on toyotas website for my vin.

2010 toyota tacoma base model 2 door small pickup truck. When driving into sun and when raining windshield appears to be etched causing a blinding glare. Dealership attempted to clean it inside and out and then gave the explanation that all the 2010 tacomas they havethis same problem. 2 different drivers of our particular tacoma have been blinded by this apparent defect with close calls resulting. Please investigate. Thank you.

While driving, it started to rain. Naturally i flipped the wipers on. The wipers stalled and started then quit, mid-wipe.wiper motor quit. It acted frozen, it squeaked and stalled half-way through a wipe action. Had to pull off because visibility was poor. Got out, tried to help the wiper arm move. The motor squeaked. The wipers would not operate and would not move from its mid-windshield location. Waited until the rain passed to begin driving again. Because it rains so often here, the wipers are required equipment, for safety and visibility. An inoperable wiper system renders the truck inoperable, in other words useless.

As i was cleaning the windshield i had my wiper blades up. I bumped the blade arm and the wiper fell off as the arm came down hitting the windshield causing a one foot long crack in the windshield. I have read there has been recalling on other toyotas for windshields cracking from the defroster blowing warm air on a cold windshield. Apparently, the glass is too thin. The truck was in my driveway.
