Took in to have shocks checked and mechanic found exhaust manifold to be cracked over 3/4 of the way around betwee the middle two exhaust ports.my brother in-law suspected a leak as i was putting boat away over one year and 25000 miles ago.i do not ever remember the truck sounding any different and the manifold is under a heat shield so i never spotted the crack.i have always smelled exhaust but thought it was comming from other vehicles.i frequently make long trips in the truck and have had to fight to stay awake that i now know may have been due to carbon monoxide poisoning.i had the exhaust manifold replaced by my dealer who probably has saved me from further harm or even death.they would not replace the manifold under warranty.i have to wonder why they had a replacement manifold in stock if this is not a common occurance.i kept the manifold and will send it wherever you want if you would like to examine it to determine what caused the crack.i am an engineer and suspect that an approximately one inch manufactured hole in the heat shield allowed water to hit the manifold and thermal shock caused what appears to be a cast iron manifold to crack where it did.one more inch of cracking and the manifold would have broken in two.

The headlights worked intermittantly, then they stopped working at all. I am an electrician, and i started diagnosing the problem, finding no ground to the headlights. Following the wiring diagram, this led me to believe that the dimmer switch portion of the combination switch on the steering wheel had failed. Upon further investigation, i found that the black/white ground wire for that switchon the wiring harness side of the connector under the dash was blackened from excess heat. Also the terminal inside the connector was almost melted. The wire from the switch itself to the connector is a 16 guage wire, but the wire on the other side of the connector, going into the wiring harness to ground is only a 20 guage wire. Each headlight is fused at 10 amps, with a possibility of a 20 amp draw on a 20 guage wire. The nominal current draw for the headlights was almost 10 amps, which is certainly too much for such a small wire. For some time i had been smelling an electrical burning odor at times when driving the vehicle, and now i know where it was coming from. The wire was blackened, and the terminal melted, so a fire was a definate possibility.

I noticed when i was filling up with gas that i was leaking gas where the filler tube had rusted away from the tank as well as the return fuel line.then i noticed that my frame is cracked in front of the rear leaf springs, on both sides of the truck.after removing the fuel tank i realized that the entire rear frame is completely rusted away.luckily i found this out before me and my family could have been killed due to the frame pre-maturely rusting out.i would think that this is a warranty issue...
The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma. The contact noticed there was fuel leaking from the fuel tank and took the vehicle to a local mechanic.after inspecting the vehicle they found that the frame, exhaust and the fuel tank were severely corroded and rusted. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer who advised the contact to speak wit the manufacturer for further assistance. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 94,000.
Yes i was driving my toyota tacoma on the highway doing 55mph when the driver side lower ball joint broke. This caused my shut to snap in half also caused the control arm to break. Wouldn't have been so bad had the truck not been so rusty. Now facing issues with the fuel system being covered in rust. And the leaf springs are on the verge of breaking off the frame due to rust. The person i purchased the truck from said he had never received any kind of notice of the rust recall. Seems kinda funny to me only 25% of the owners of toyotas were notified to do something about the rust issue. Thank god im still alive. He is the only thing that saved me. I will dig out all of my receipts and ulad them very soon.

The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that when the front passenger attempted to put on the seatbelt, it made a noise and would not retract. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
Front seatbelt will not retract, lead to belts becoming twisted/in poor repair, creates safety concern
On september 2, 2005, the seat belt anchor completely rusted out on my 1995 toyota tacoma 4x4 extra cab and has rendered the seat belt useless.toyota will not fix the problem, does not have the parts in stock and said it would be months before they could have them.they referred me to a junk yard, which also does not have the parts to fix it. One of their technicians tied the seat belt to the seat track.i am now forced to drive the vehicle this way as i need to get to work.

Seat belt webbing does not retract back into spool, causing the belt to get caught in the door, retractor was replaced once before. Dealer has beennotified..
The problem with the seatbelts started aprox 3 yrs ago on the passenger side. The belt would get tighter after it was fastened, even before the veh had been started and still does it this day. Just recently the seatbelt on the drivers side completly failed, it does not lock in place nor does it retract. I believe there is potential for serious injury in the event of an accident.
I purchased a 1995 toyota tacoma new and have owned it since. I had it serviced last week and the mechanic told me the frame and suspension was heavily rotted and the vehicle was unsafe. It had major structure damage on the welds at the front, middle, and rear of the frame on both sides. He also stated that the suspension was heavily rotted to the point where he asked me if i had a boat and used the truck in salt water which i don't. At this point, i had the truck towed to my house and contacted toyota customer care case number 1308142650. The representative told me there was nothing they could do about my issue. I paid 30k for this truck and wish i never purchased it due to the shoddy manufacturing process toyota used making this vehicle. In 2008, i brought the vehicle to boch toyota to have the frame inspected and they said it was ok but my mechanic advised me to go to the dealer because he said the frame was rotting at a very fast pace. I have read alot of reports of frame rot after the 15 year extended warranty toyota offered and feel they need to stand by their product and continue covering their products due to the defect in their manufacturing process.signed, very unhappy toyota tacoma owner!!!!!!!!
Applied abs brakes, heard loud noise, brakes failed to stop vehicle, causing crash, hit tree, according to dealer, no problem with brakes.
Whenbrakes are depressedfront endvibrates uncontrollably.dealer has been notified.
Yes i wrote awhile back about my ball joint snapping in half going 55. It was the lower one but it wasn't where the ball joint was it was the metal part about an inch and a half from where the ball joint was. Due to rust. The man whom i finally found who bought it new said he never received any kind of notice about the rust on the vehicle.
Right front wheel. Lower ball joint failed, and wheel fell off while moving.
When drivingsteering wheel is really loose.when looking under dashboard consumer noticed allweldswere broken, and there was one weld holdingsteering column todash. If steering wheel falls off while driving therecan be a serious accident.this is a fatal flaw onmanufacturer's part.please provide any further information.
A bolt fell from the steering column, which caused the steering wheel to spins freely.dealer tightened loose steering wheel nut.this also enabled the air bag sensor harness and horn.consumer declined to have srs air bag light replaced.
While driving at any speed and applying the brakes there is a knocking noise and vibration within the steering wheel due to cracked inner tie rod.

In june 2011 i had my 1995 toyota tacoma inspected. I specifically requested that the frame be checked. The truck passed inspection and the invoice, which i have, stated that the frame was good.at that time my truck had 166,874 miles on it.on august 3, 2013, 2 years later, i took my toyota tacoma to the same toyota dealer who inspected it in 2011.the truck did not pass inspection, and the invoice, which i also have, states:"the frame has a hole in it - located passenger rear near spring purch. Hole. Customer has 30 days from today to have repairs done".the mileage on the truck is 173,527.i find it hard to believe that in 2 years, with only 6,653 additional miles on it, that the frame had rusted to that extent.i took the truck for a 2nd opinion.not only did the frame have a hole in it, there were several rust spots toyota did not report, in addition, the part that held on the trailer hitch is so rusted they suggested not to use it any more. I can't even use my truck any more!i contacted toyota and got a case number. I got an email from a case manager with a number to call. I called just to have them tell me there was nothing they could do for me. I understand the recall ended at the end of december, but i figured after the report i was given in 2011, "the frame is good", that i had nothing to be concerned about. Now, my truck sits in my driveway.it is a pile of junk and toyota's mission statement: "to attract and attain customers with high valued product and services and the most satisfying ownership experience in america" needs to be re-written! thank you toyota for your reputable service and my extreme lack of customer satisfaction!
The spring leaf slid into the tire and busted the tire, consumer loss control.
I have a 1995 toyota tacoma. The frame is rusting and the cab mounts are completely rusted off. The other mounts are also about gone. The main frame is on its way. I'm noticing rust flakes falling off under the truck.i took it in to the dealer under the buy back program and was told that the main frame is not bad enough for the buy back. I was able to drive the truck away. 1 week later the cab mounts rusted off and the cab fell to the frame.

The metal under my 95 toyota tacoma is crumbling away.
I purchased a toyota tacoma from a dealer on 9-17-2002. The truck was a salvage vehicle which was reconstructed by the dealer. I paid $8,650.80 for the vehicle. It had it had 87,631 miles when i purchased it. I went to the local toyota dealer (kinderhook toyota) on 4/28/08 to get new shocks put on the front. I have been driving the vehicle for 6 years and it now has 129,119 miles on it. They told me the vehicle had a defectiveframe and was unsafe to drive and that toyota would give me a check for the book value of the vehicle plus 50%. I got a call from toyota on 5/10/2008 telling me they would not give me anything for the truck because it was registered as a salvage vehicle. I would never have bought this truck in the first place in 2002 had i know it was defective. There was no intent on my part to defraud anyone. I feel i should be compensated for buying a defective vehicle, it was a manufacturing defect period. Now i have a truck i can not drive. I fell as though i should be compensated by toyota.
My 1995 toyota tacoma was serviced at colonial toyota in milford, ct in march of 2009.during that service, the dealer informed me that my truck qualified for an extension of the frame rust corrosion perforation warranty.they performed an inspection and stated that the frame passed.approximately 1 month ago i received my first official letter from toyota motor sales indicating that my 1995 toyota tacoma has qualified for an extension of the frame rust corrosion perforation warranty for a period of 15 years from the vehicle's in service date.i presented the truck to toyota of middletown, ct on 11/20/10 and was notified that the frame failed inspection due to an extremely large hole.i was told that due to the thickness of the frame and large diameter of the hole, it would have taken over a year to develop.as a result, toyota of middletown stated that the vehicle was 'unsafe to drive'.i was also informed that the vehicle no longer qualified for the warranty extension as the in service date was 10/2/1995.it is clear that the hole in the frame was overlooked in march of 2009. I am the second owner of the vehicle and was not aware of the specific in service date.i am now in a very difficult position as toyota motor sales has deemed the truck 'unsafe to drive' due to 'inadequate corrosion-resistant protection' applied by toyota.as my primary vehicle, i will not put my family or other drivers at risk and cannot sell this truck knowing that it unsafe to drive.
On december 23, 2010 during a conversation with a co-worker i learned that toyota had been repairing or buying back 1995-2004 tacomas due to a safety issue based on excessive frame rust to the point of failure due to a manufacturer's defect.on december,24, 2010 i contacted my toyota dealer, and they advised that there was a program in place, and they advised me to bring the truck in on december 28th for an inspection. On december 28th, 2010 i brought my truck to the dealership and they advised that my truck failed the inspection of the frame and that they were condemning my truck because the frame was unsafe due to a manufacturer's defect.they provided me with a loaner car and stated toyota would contact me and arrange for a buyback amount.on january 3rd i was contacted and advised toyota would not do anything for me because the original owner purchased the vehicle in april of 1995 and they would only honor the buyback until that date in 2010.the dealership still has my truck as i was told it was unsafe to drive, and toyota is refusing to do anything to correct their manufacturer's defect in the frame.further more due to the nature of the inspection (hitting the frame with a hammer) which was authorized by toyota, there is probably further damage to the frame then when i brought it in.with admitting that their defect causes a safety issue, i feel toyota should be forced to remedy the problem or buy back my vehicle.their stance on the initial inservice date should not apply to me as i am not the original owner, and i was never notified by toyota about this safety issue at any time and have been the registered owner of this vehicle since 2006.
I have the frame recall on 1995 tacoma i received a letter last summer 2008 i went to ira toyota in danvers ma, they past my truck for frame inspection so i went on my way thinking i am in a safe truck. My friend also had 2000 tacoma they also passed his truck last summer. The beginning of feb 2009 he was changing his left rear tire and saw rust on the frame were leaf sprig is mounted and pushed his finger threw he informed me so when i came home from work i took a hammer and screwdriver to area of the framedown the side seem ok with good solid sound of strong metal then i checked were the leaf spring are mounted screwdriver went threw like butter i took it back to the dealer again they passed it something is very wrong i know metal these are rusting frominside out i believe all 1995 2000 tacoma's are junk i hope you can help me toyota is not helping at all.
The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma. While the vehicle was being inspected, the contact was informed that the frame was rusted and contained a large hole. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the vehicle was too old for repair. The contact was aware of some rust on the vehicle four years ago; however, the dealer stated that there was not enough rust to be repaired according to the manufacturer's recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
I put my tacoma in reverse and heard a snap and clunk from front and rear. Front right suspension rusted through, broke and right rear shock. Local repair shop said rusted through, broke, they can't adjust caster setting on front alignment because nuts are rusted solid can't remove nuts. Pulls to the right, steering wheel is to right. Frame is also very rusted and might fail before too long.my wife and i took my tacoma to toyota dealer in 2010 to have $2,342.21 worth of services done. Repairs not done correctly and permanantly.we took it back twice and was told it would cost us $1,900.00 to replace condenser for leak . We paid $250 to have leak repaired to begin with other repeated charges . My online history says $520.00 to fix leak . Toyota service rep did nothing but try to overcharge and recharge us for repairs we paid for and refused to correct the repairs we paid for . Toyota dealer inspected my tacoma frame and declared it good in 2010, refused to undercoat my frame. Three years latter 2010 in 2013 frame is extremely rusted. Toyota refuses to buyback or replace frame. We bought tacoma in 1998 before frame rust program beginning in 2008. Second owner, never received recall or extended frame rust warranty letters. We were told there wasn'trecall or anything else that need to be done in 2010. They new exactly how much money we had in the bank and tried too take every penny we had in the bank , refusing to provide excellent service repairs.we had to prepay for stainless steal exhaust . Toyota service rep. Put the old oxygen sensors back in charged us for one and said we would half to pay another $200 to $300 for another one .engine light came back on halfway home which is why we took it in for the first time. 1995 toyota tacoma.consumer writes in regards to vehicle frame rust.the consumer stated the he took the vehicle in for the rust perforation recall in 2008. He was informed other than surface rust, it was not bad enough to replace, as no holes or soft spots were found. Although, he did not take the vehicle back for a re-inspection, he was informed by a toyota representatives that the truck would not fail another inspection and the frame was not bad enough to warrant a replacement. In 2011, the frame cracked and it was welded together. In august 2013, the frame split in half again. The consumer returned to the dealer, where they informed him, had he purchased the vehicle there, they may have been able to help him.

My son heard from a co worker thattoyota had purchased his vehicle back due to frame rust. My son called toyota and was informed that toyota is no longer doing anything to check or fix bad frames.i looked under my vehicle and the frame seemed ok,so i continued using the vehicle.while driving the vehicle approximately nine months latter,i heard a banging noise like two pieces of metal were hitting.i got out of the vehicle and started looking around.i found the frame above the rear passenger wheel had broke thru due to rust.i called toyota to find out why i was never sent a recall about this rusty frame problem.if i had received this notice ,my self and other people's lives would not have been jeopardized. Toyotas reply was that they had sent a recall.with this i started checking different web sites on this matter, only to find out there are a lot of people with the same complaint, they never received a recall notice . I feel toyota did not do what they should have in order to protect the safety of there customers and the public. If i was on the highway when this happened , people may have been killed.
Truck fell on the ground wheel went out frame slide across pavement and super scary . Ball joint broke sealed ball joints ,broke ?. Dried out and fell apartcould have killed my family.
The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma. The contact stated the rear of the frame was rusted. The vehicle was taken to thedealer and they informed him there was no rust on the vehicle.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance stating there was no rust on the vehicle.
I want to add this complaint with my previous one odi #[xxx] on 12/30/1013 i spoke to supervisor [xxx] from toyota corp.at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota case #[xxx].she said they are done with this and i have to file complaints outside of toyota . I told her i didwith safercar.gov. She acted like i haven't . I have the pdf 34 page toyota customer services , customer support program - warranty coverage extension for frame rust corrosion perforation on certain 1995-2000 my tacoma documents. Signed by [xxx] in 2008.i faxed page 2 to [xxx] on 12/23/2013. No. 3 application period that states " the warranty extension is offered for a period of 15 years with no mileage limitations from the vehicle's in-service date, for perforation of the vehicle's frame caused by rust corrosion." thatmeans 15 years from the date the vehicle was in-service date for frame was inspected for rust corrosion." we have owned this tacoma since 1/26/1998 way before this program stated so we qualify for the whole program. We have been refused this program from the very beginning. Toyota refuses it's own safety program which the say their first priority is safety. Frame rust corrosion failure is a safety hazard that toyota is covering up, so they don't have to pay out. Yet toyota spends all kinds amounts of money in racingand refuses to take full responsibility for toyota's bad frames that are still on production vehicles,on the road formrust corrosion and will or has already failed. Toyota sued and won $25 million from dana corp for bad frames. I filed a complaint with better business bureau case #[xxx] . Toyota does nothing but continually argue, refuses excellent customer service and permanent repairs and tries to scam us out of our money. Toyota is playing with peoples lives frames fail going 50 to 70 miles per hour.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Going about 20 miles/hr suddenly the driver side front tire broke, it means the whole wheel fold out of place leaving the truck not able to drive.
The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma. The contact had taken the vehicle to an authorized dealer for routine maintenance and the technician detected that the front driver's side suspension support fractured. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 96v129000 (suspension: front). The vin was included; however the dealer refused to repair the vehicle for an unknown reason. The manufacturer was notified and they planned to investigate the problem. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 217,668.
When driving slow or on the highway when i would hit a bump i would hear a popping noise. Thought it was a shock that broke. Till i saw the frame had rusted through and broke on my rear suspension area.
So there has been a recall for my fruck for the frame and all undercariage veing rotten because of the bad steal used the year and or years of my truck was supposed to be pulled off the road and gotten a new truck to its equal or money or ( not sure but if u reallyliked the truck reeframed and underworkd )other years not sure about 99 above to certain years 2nd or 3rd or originalowner(which went for my same years) they took the whole truckin and redid all theundercarage frame rotten break lines. So i am the second owner when first bought frame was painted black so i did not see any rot. About a year or so later the rot started showing worse and worse ive have to weld plates on it already replace the rearend and suspension and breakline the rotted (and almost made me get killed driving when they went out. So i finaly thought and heard about thisrecall and have been fighting toyota ever since they said i was two monthes late but i told them i never got a lletter so how am i supposed to have known just luckly a friend at work had his dont. A newer year where they redid his hole undercarage.. Now my frame is just getting worse and worse and other problems are acuring with thee undercarage.. I have many other picturesi have teied to maintian it best i can because i do love toyota but very unhapppy with how they have helped me

The contact owns a 1994 (na) toyota tacoma. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed corrosion where the spare tire was located, on the rear leaf springs, and on the subframe of the vehicle. We paid for washer fluid wire repair which broke again in less than three years.we left toyota dealer very angry in 2010 and had repairs fail.
The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma. The contact stated that the air bag light continuously flashed while the vehicle was unoccupied. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cable sub-assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact received another recall notification regarding the leaf spring possibly rusting and puncturing the fuel tank; however, the parts were not available for the repair. The nhtsa campaign number was unavailable. The failure mileage was unknown....updated 02/19/16

These must have been cracking for quite some time, cause the ride was getting worse in the past month.hard to handle on curves.thought i needed shocks.good thing i had my boyfriend look at it.i feel it's a saftey hazard. And toyota should make it right and replace the springs at their cost.

The center leaf on both springs has failed.toyota knows of the problem, but told me too many miles on the vehicle.although they did replace headgasket for a recall at 135k.i went to an auto/truck spring shop and when i went inside, the gentleman there said "broken rear springs?"before i said anything.they keep them in stock, replacing so many.i"ve been lucky, the part that broke isn't a mounting point.so the suspension had continued to hold up the tuck.it's going to be expensive for me to repair, $800+between the springs, shocks(leaf slid over and ate the shock) and the exhaust pipe(slid over and ate that.)i've resigned that i've got to do it, but maybe toyota has to do some better research on their components. Thanks.
The springs slide into the left rear tire, rubbed it, busted the tire, and lost control of the truck causing it to roll over 3 times. The truck was totaled.( dot number: tire size: 265-75r15 )
The rear leaf spring broke, a 4" section is missing from the middle. The still attatched part had swug round and was rubbing against the inside wall of the tire. The potential for an accident is plain to see, especially since all of the problems with leaf springs/suspension that this model has had. The heaviest item ever carried in this truck weighed 480# and has never been used "off road" and never hit a pothole or the likes.

Tom scott motors of caldwell idaho sold me a used vehicle that was unsafe to drive.in contacting the dealership the problem is still not resolved and they are waiting to see if they can purchase the parts from a wrecking yard.the dealership knew that the vehicle needed new leaf springs on the rear of the truck( this is evident because they under coated the broken parts) they did nothing to fix it before selling it and allowed me to purchase it and drive from caldwell idaho to la grande oregon which is about 140 miles one way.

1. Truck primarily used as a passenger vehicle. Only infrequent use truly as a truck.2. While carrying a moderate load on the highway, a grating noise was heard from the driver's side spring.the lower long leaf (2 leaf + helper) had broken off forward of the differential and dislodged itself from the assembly such that it was rubbing against gas tank seam. Upon further investigation, i discovered that the passenger side rear leaf spring was also broken but only slightly dislodged.both had been broken for an undetermined amount of time since the broken ends were well rusted. 3. Was approx. 200 miles from home and fortunately had a hammer to free the broken spring from the tank.stopped every 30 miles to check it.the problem is not yet corrected and still installed on vehicle. This could have potentially caused a fire if the tank was ruptured.toyota was called to see if there were any recalls on this issue.they took my vin number and said that there was a recall but my particular vin was not part of the recall.in trying to obtain used parts from auto recyclers, more than one has stated that they have had quite a few inquiries for used springs for tacomas.and after searching the nhtsa database, i believe that the problem is more widespread than is reported to toyota or the nhtsa.
Rear leaf springs broke and spun out 1/2 inch away from catching the back wheels.dealer and toyota were contacted.
The rear leaf springs broke under normal operation conditions ! i called the toyota dealer and said they are aware of the problem and have a "fix" for $600.00! i called 10 junkyards looking for used springs and they all just laughed and said" they sell them as fast as they get them" because it is such a common failure. I now ask everyone i see driving one of thesetrucks if thiers has broke and about 80% of them say yes! if the truck had been loaded or if i had been going fast when it broke it would have been a heck of a wreack! how could so many trucks be doing this and toyota not be made to make it good?thanks, greg.
There was a broken rear leaf spring onright passenger's side .contacted dealer, and dealer will check into it. Consumer states as of may 8, 2001 neither the dealer or the manufacturer has done anything to remedy the problem, consumer was advised that vehicle is out of warranty, consumer states there was nothing wrong with vehicel until he brought it in for service for an unrelated repair.

Shortly after purchasing the used 1995 tacoma, under normal driving conditions, the middle rear driver's spring apparently broke and came in contact with shock, causing hard squeaking.checking with local suspension repair shops and junkyards, all parties indicate how common an occurance this is.several junkyards stated they cannot keep enough of these replacement springs in stock.
Leaf springs broken on rear of truck under normal driving conditions. A recall should be issued for this problem.just wait until someone who is pulling a camper with their family in the truck has one fail and it causes a crash that kills them all can you say lawsuit?

Vehicle's left spring on rear axle broke under normal driving condtions.toyota does not acknowledge that there is a problem.
Heard a big noise and the truck failed to the right, then checked under the truck and saw that the leaf spring in the rear had broken. Left rear leaf spring - middle spring cracked.dealer and 2 local spring shops say it is common with this truck; however, dealer will not repair at less than full cost.
While driving on i4 from orlando to tampa at 65 mph the right rear tire of my tacoma truck had a tread separation and blew apart.i was able to recover and pull over to replace the tire.neither firestone, nor toyota will take any responsibility for this, claiming the tire is too old and used.it came apart just like the tires on the recall, but is a different size. The damage amount is the amount to replace the tires, since i was able to control the vehicle without causing an accident.i feel the recall should be widened to include many other sizes of these same tires.having knowledge of the recall is the main thing that allowed me to recognize the problem on the highway and avoid any serious consequences.( dot number: w2hy awa tire size: p215 70r14 )
I have 3 usa made 31x10.50r15lt m/s load range b and one canadian made 31x10.50r15lt m/s load range c (don't know why firestone dealer did not provide all load range b's) tires that all have a crack approximately 60% of the way up the sidewall that runs completely around the tire.the cracks are deepening over time.i bought these tires new and they have been maintained by firestone approximately every five thousand miles per the warrenty.i have maintained my truck meticulously and tire pressure is checked at least twice monthly.i have seen this crack on many wilderness at iii tires in parking lots.i think these tires should be recalled also.http://www.bridgestone-usa.com/news/00815b.htm shows 137 claims against this tire as of 8-22-00 already and doing a straight ratio with the recalled tires equates to approximately 6 deaths on this tire.why is it not included in this recall?not enough deaths yet?as a minimum they should be replaced free of charge under firestones workmanship and materials warranty. Orignal equipment on a 1995, tacoma, p215/70r14 size.while drivingright rear tire blew . All four tires were replaced due to failures and air loss.
My tire blew out on the way to work and almost killed me. It is not one of the tires on the recall but i have had nothing but problems with them .they have caused a lot of damage to my vehicle and i know that they are a hazard.i have changed all of the tires to a different brand but wanted to report it anyway.( dot number: )
I first noticed the truck was handling differentely while taking my son to preschool.i pulled over to check for a flat because that is what it felt like.no flat.so i continued on.that was friday february 8.the sunday after, my husband and i had to go shopping in the nearby city of ukiah.i mentioned to my husband that the truck was handling funny and i was worried about it.he checked the tire too and couldn't detect anything.so we went to ukiah, about a 25 mile drive one way on a twisty, treacherous road.the truck was still handling funny but my husband thought maybe it was a problem with the tire weights.later in a parking lot in ukiah my husband noticed that the tire (front driver's side)was coming apart. Now these tires still have plenty of tred left so should not be falling apart like this.we had been wondering why we'd been having all these flats lately.we saw why when we changed the tire, the one we replaced it with wasn't much better!although it wasn't coming apart yet the rubber inbetween the tred is weak and cracking everywhere.all of the tires are in that condition. Failure of tire valve stems causes tire blow out;failure caused by sharp metal edge on cover pierced valve stems;speed 50 mph; failure occurred 4 times within 4 month period ; according to dealer, there are many other tacoma's with same problem.
My mechanic said my frame is so rusted that it had to have been bad when i had it checked by toyota and they told me it was fine. He said they do that so that they don't have to pay for repairs. I would like this investigated to see if the dealership mislead me so as to save money and leave me with a dangerous vehicle.
Frame is rusting through at leaf spring conections
There was frame recall back in 2010 and i would like to get to the frame recall
The nhtsa website lists 3 records in the recall database and 11 records in the service bulletins database that my local dealer says he knows nothing about, and that toyota at (800) 331-4331 (# from nhtsa website) says does not match their database (they show "no recall campaigns or service bulletins against my truck).who is right and why don't your databases match?i am especially concerned about the steering/frame cracking mentioned on your website.ps. Your hotline number is useless. The answering machine just goes into a do-loop.i expect better service from my government.no safety defect mentioned in summary. Requests recall informtion.
Frame corrosion is the worst i've ever seen.even after being coated years ago, frame continue to rust and can present danger when too much rust occurs and spring perch or other suspension component detaches from the frame and cause an accident.
Going slowly over pitted road noticed squeaking on rear end and brought to a mechanic.was told frame cracked through due to frame rust.vehicle is unable to be repaired.toyota had a service bullitin but i was never notified and it expired in may of 2000.they will not honor their warranty extension despite the vehicle being serviced at dealership.
The frame is rusted and crack, mechanic told me that dangerous to drive the car , can cause a fatalaccident.
Basically my battery just completely died for no reasoni lost all electrical power headlights, power steering, and all....it was night time . When i tried to jump start that is when the battery caught on fire and every since that awful night(ended up getting it towed while i went to get help for it being parked in a zone with no proper parking sticker and it cost me 350 more dollars to get it out) the 6 brand new batteries have all either never worked to begin with or they have been jumped off i think the most times out of one battery was jumping it off five successful times.i just dont drive the truck anymore bc i cant trust it.
We bought our 1995 toyotaand have never received any recalls, our truck has only 60,000 miles
Cruise control did not disengage, when brake was applied, causing accident/injury.
Throttle freezes up in cold weather.
The wind blewsnow into cruise control unit, upon driving into the wind, the cruise controlfroze, causingthrottle to stick, suspension to bounce up,wheels to spin out of control/accident.
During vehicle operation, with the speed control set at 45 mph, the speed control would not disengage, causing the vehicle to rollover.
Need to know if recalls95v195000 & 96v129000 was preformed on vehicle having problem with gas mileage & rough idle.
The contact owns a 1995 toyota tacoma.while driving 25 mph, the front passenger side of the vehicle, including the ball joints and wheel, fell underneath the front end of the vehicle.the dealer stated that there was no recall for the failure and the repair would be the contact's responsibility.the current and failure mileages were 220,000.
