Takata recall. Two "interim" notices received already for my 2012 toyota sienna since 2016-17 and the airbag have been discovered to be defected long before that, and yet still no remedy. It is unacceptable that their current solution for me and my family is to not operate the car with a front passenger. This is absolutely absurd. This car is my family's main car, someone always have to be in the front seatwhen we drive the whole fandom mily. And we are scared to death that one or more of us will be seriously injured or killed when our family is in the car. The remedy should have been available already since the defected airbag have been discovered since april 2013.

Takata recall - i tried taking my van into toyota today but was informed the fix for this recall isn't available yet. I looked online and it says it will be ready around september 2017. However, the recall specifically states that i should not let anyone ride in the passenger seat until it is fixed. Please explain how i am not supposed to utilize my passenger seat for six months??? this is ridiculous and a safety hazard to the occupants of my vehicle and it should be fixed in a much more timely manner.

It is completely unacceptable that toyota is recommending "that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat" as an interim solution to the airbag recall.i have a large family and absolutely rely on that front seat and they are telling me not to use it.they must offer reasonable accommodations to ensure that my family is safe, including a free rental if needed.i will not accept their recommendation and they must provide a reasonable alternative and get this resolved very quickly.

Takata recall. It has been almost a year and half since toyota informed me that i shouldn't allow anyone to ride in the front seat of my van. You can imagine the inconvenience this has caused!!! now they say there is a solution but the toyota dealers claim they don't have the air bags and they don't know when they will get them. My family is not safe in my vehicle. How long should i have to deal with their incompetence and disregard for the safety of my family?

Takata recallto whom it may concern,my toyota sienna has been under recall for the takata airbag issue since january.my family is impacted as we are not able to use our vehicle as we need with the addition of a third child.my interactions with toyota since january have been very displeasing including them telling my wife to "go ahead and use the front passenger seat" since the research and data show the propellant will not degrade until next summer.this was blatant disregard for the health and safety of my family since we had a recall notice that told us not to use the front passenger seat.the "projected" fix for this problem is september 2017. In my opinion, toyota has not corrected this issue in a timely fashion.

Making a right hand turn and i believe the truck in front of me lost the trailer hitch.i was only traveling about 15 mph.drove over a trailer hitch in the road and all the airbags deployed, causing a violent stop to the van and injuries and shock to my daughter and myself

Brought car in for airbag safety recall. Was told it was completed. After this received another recall mailing for the same problem. Called the toyota recall resolution teamnumber to verify. Was told that a temporary airbag was installed and that i needed to have the good one reinstalled when they got them in. She called the dealer to set up an appointment then told me that it was taken care of and a new airbag was not needed. And stated that she was confused. And that i needed to go back to the dealer to get a written statement that the work was done. I noticed and explained that it looks like a substitute was made and the receipt says : 'bag 0.8. 2007-2009 yaris hatchback2007-2009 yaris sedan'.so it looks like a temporary substitute was made and that i was not informed.i said that if they give written documentation that the repair was made it makes it legally their responsibility but this would be after the fact if a problem or fatality would occur and not solve the issue of assuring that a proper airbag had been installed.can you give clarification and suggested follow up (possibly third party) to guarantee safety?

We do not user the passages sit because we hear a noise in side the box of air bag

Takata recall.our minivan is recalled.bold letters indicate we "do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat".toyota has no known remedy date.we need a minivan to accommodate our large family and car seats.toyota will only offer us a toyota corolla while we wait indefinitely for our airbag to be fixed.this is unacceptable.i have spent hours talking with toyota.we purchased a minivan because we need a minivan.now because of the takata recall, they refuse to put us in a minivan rental.how can this possibly be allowed?our minivan is basically useless to us for a period that could be years!i don't know where else to turn for guidance, as our concerns fall on deaf ears at toyota.very frustrating!

Takata recall: i began talking to toyota's 1800 # on tuesday, february 21 about needing a loaner car because our 2012 sienna is affected by the takata recall. On the 23rd of february, the dealer don mcgill toyota located at kirkwood/i-10 called saying they could offer us a chrysler town & country van but only that one day.my wife was out of town until saturday, but i was told they couldn't hold the loaner car that long. The representative than suggested that a dealership closer to our home could help me better and transferred my information to a dealer at i-10/mason road in katy. No one has ever called me from this location and i have left 3 messages on the service manager's line without a call back.

Takata recall - we have children riding in our vehicle and need the recalls to be fixed promptly. We had not heard anything from toyota as to when the recalls will be fixed. With the airbag issue, no one can sit in the front passenger seat, which makes it very inconvenient for our big family. Sliding door recall - the sliding door issue also is a major danger because our kids sit in the back. We are fearful the door could open unexpectedly. The delay in fixing these recalls is causing a lot of anxiety, stress, and danger. We tried to call toyota but were transferred to different departments for over 20 minutes before getting cut off completely. We want answers and we want them now.toyota needs to fix the problem immediately. We are fearful for our lives in our sienna.

Takata recall - i understand the takata airbag was recalled on 1/9/17 (6 months ago) and i received a letter about it months ago as well. I know a large number of automobiles were affected but i am very dissatisfied with the amount of time it is taking for a remedy to be in place. This is our family vehicle and i spend many trips a week in the front passenger seat feeling unsafe. I have two large carseats in the second row and the third row of seats are down in order to transport different things. So i have no where to sit but the front passenger seat. In addition to this recall, there is an issue with the power sliding door. There has been a recall in effect for that since nov. 2016 and there is still no remedy.

The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. In addition, the contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v858000 (structure). The dealer stated that the electronic function would need to temporarily be disconnected due to the remedy for the recall still being under development, and to manually operate the door. Takata recall 'received notice for nhtsa campaigns: 17v006 (air bags) & 16v858 (structure) for our family vehicle.we have 4 small kids that require car seats so it is not feasible for the front passenger seat to not be used.per notice, i called toyota and visited a local dealership in february 2017 to discuss the issue and request a rental or discount on a replacement vehicle.was informed rentals were limited to $35/day which would only provide a mid-size car (would not fit my family) and no replacement vehicle option was available.then in march 2017, the sliding door opened while driving.thankfully we had just left the house and no one was injured, but we are fearful for our lives and the safety of our children as we do not know when this may happen again.with the amount of time the airbag recall has existed and being told by the dealership not to expect a fix until 2018 at the earliest, the manufacturer has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs and is unwilling to provide any form of alternate transportation that will provide for the safety of my family.

"takada recall" i am writing because my takada airbags have been under recall for an extended period of time. Every single attempt (multiple attempts) have gone unreturned, despite the fact that i have called 888-546-1750 on multiple occasions! because this recall as the potential to cause either injury or death, i would think it would be in takada, toyota and my best interest to get back to me.i am very dissatisfied with the recall and very dissatisfied with how the toyota recall team has not contacted me.there is a second recall on the doors for the toyota sienna. Because i cannot get a hold of the recall team, i can also not schedule an appointment to get this recall addressed in my vehicle. This is unexcusable!

Brand new vehicle lasted about a week, wife parked car, went into store, came out and van would not start, wife and kids were stranded in rough part of neighboring city, battery dead, toyota service tested charging system and found nothing wrong, they didn't replaced battery as a precaution.

Power sliding doors won't latch and fly open while driving. Hardly ever used the passenger side.dealer lebrun toyota "fixed" by placing on manual. Also got a recall letter in january 2017 stating "no remedy yet and wait for next letter". June 13th they flew open again and unable to close. Ultimately bungeed doors closed to get home 30 miles. Then had towed (my expense - toyota wouldnt cover) to lebrun again. They now say its not covered under recall and its because the latches are faulty and need replacing. Over $2100. Called toyota and was "sorry for the experience i was having - latches are not on recall - only the cables and my problem is with faulty latches". Vehicle doors dont open spontaneously unless in motion....when still - they stay closed. I use this for work and was supposed to start as an uber driver june 29th - i am and will lose lots of money and am very depressed about my choice of buying my first new vehicle.

The intermittent wiper is reveresed.the slow is running fast and the fast running slow.took it to the dealer and they advised that they could not do anything.also the dash is not flush with the instrument cluster.

The sunroof gets stuck in the open position; it will not close, both when the car is moving or stationary.

The vehicle was stationary when the power door cable snapped and the door will now only open approximately several inches. This poses a safety hazard as children in the back could become trapped in the vehicle. When i contacted the dealer i was told this was an incredibly common problem with the sienna minivans but toyota was not doing anything to remedy the issue.

After the weather drop to 45 degrees on october 5, 2014 i started my 2012 toyota sienna (awd), i immediately notice that all light in the panel were on. There is warning in center view panel alerting me that i need to take the vehicle to dealership for abs, vsc and brake system problem. The following day i drove the vehicle to the dealership and notice that the speedometer and gas gauge are not working. The speedometer hand is moving back and forth. The gas is always in the full mode. I also notice that the brake is always in on mode. Driving without working speedometer, brake system and gas range are really putting my life in danger. I am hoping that my dealership which superior toyota can fix these problem. I am also hoping that warranty will covert the defective part.

2012 sienna limited electrical issuesi have a 2012 toyota sienna limited with every option except awd. On february 4, 2015, after driving for about 25 minutes, when i stopped and turned off the engine, the van completely died! i wanted to start again, but there was no power at all; nothing would function, door locks, radio, lights, nothing! i had to wait for about 5 minutes. Finally i was able to start; however the navigation dvd was reset.this is the second time it happens this week.before these events; about one year ago something like that happened, that time the van was in the garage, we were ready to go to church and when i press the start button it tried to start but then it completely died, there was no power at all. I am really concerned that this will happen while driving and we will be in a very serious condition not being able to control the vehicle. I already called the dealer, but there was no help. I had the battery checked and it?s in perfect conditions!

Takata recall & door recall - i am trying to sell my vehicle privately because i purchased a new vehicle and now i am unable to sell it as there is no remedy and toyota has recommended that no one should sit in the front passenger seat --- really?there needs to be pressure on toyota to fix immediately

Was driving home from running errands, about a 4 mile drive at 35 miles/hr.at a stop light there seemed to be some sort of electrical surge.all the dashboard lights flashed and the vehicle turned off.i was able to put the car in park and restart it.there were no warning lights on after restarting the engine, so i assumed it was a fluke and continued on my way home.a little further down the road at another stop light it happened again.i pulled into my driveway and started to unload my car when i noticed smoke emanating from under the hood.i opened the hood to discover a small fire coming from a large group of wrapped wires behind the battery.i was able to put it out quickly with a fire extinguisher, but the car is completely dead and the entire electrical harness needs to be replaced as well as some other nearby parts.this vehicle was well taken care of.there is just under 65,000 miles on it and i brought it in for it's 60k maintenance 6 months ago (6/11/18).at that time they also took care of the recalls for the passenger side airbag and the power sliding doors. Since i was able to contain the fire quickly, this vehicle suffered minimal engine damage, so i'm wondering if it should be used for investigation purposes before repairs are made as it appears this may have happened with other toyota siennas that suffered much greater damage.

We first encountered a problem in which the automatic sliding door would not function to open or close automatically but it still worked manually. About a week later the rear latch of the passenger sliding door became stuck in the lock position thus not allowing the door to fully close. I took the vehicle to my mechanic who greased the latch and allowed it to function properly however the door would still only open automatically but would open or close manually just fine. During this time there were 3 instances when the door would automatically open without human intervention but while we were driving down the highway with children in the rear seats. Toyota agrees this is a major safety issue but will only split the $1,200 bill with us. Based on the fact they are willing to help pay for the repair out of warranty proves they are aware of the issue yet fail to issue a recall and put are willing to risk lives especially children's lives to save face.

No dashboard lights when van is started, only come on when light switch is activated. Dashboard on visible on cloudy days.

This car caught on fire few minutes after some electrical issues- while driving the car with everything looking just fine , the a/c fan fluctuated on and off -car blue tooth also kept disconnected and reconnect for a few seconds then all dashboard lights illuminated on and off few times . After maybe 2 minuets i reached home, may family got off the car when i noticed smoke coming from the hood . I opened the hood to find a medium size fire coming from the driver side of the engine, i called 911 right away . In less than 10-15 mins most of the car melt from the fire plus the whole garage.

2013 toyota sienna minivanthe power doors no longer close and open properly, they essentially stick, and we have to manually get out, and slam it shut with great force. The car door opened once while i was driving. My child on that side was wearing a seatbelt, i pulled over, and had to get out to shut the door with great force.for a long period, toyota didn't have a fix for this problem. I have been calling the dealership regularly to see if the "fix" had arrived. Finally, in august i was told that it had, and that the soonest they could fix my car was december 27!!! i have told them that i paid for a feature, to have power doors which both worked and didn't pose a safety liability.i have asked for either a loaner car, or compensation. Their response has been that they apologize for the inconvenience, but that they are not willing to give me another car, or compensate me.i have four children, one of whom is special needs.in order to ensure safety, i have had to disable the power feature. I bought the car with the power feature because it's something that we rely on. I feel that i spent money on something that is defective, and a safety liability, and we are being penalized, as opposed to the company assuring our safety and satisfaction.

In nov 2013, the battery light on the dashboard turned on. Within a few minutes of that happening, the vehicle stalled while driving and would not move again. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the dealer discovered that the car?s alternator needed to be replaced.in jan 2014, the battery light turned on again, so i drove the vehicle back to the dealer, where they claimed that the problem was once again with the alternator. They replaced the sienna?s alternator again.in mar 2014, the battery light came on yet again. I brought it into the dealer for a third time, but this time the dealer claimed to be unable to find any problems with the car?s electrical system. He returned it to me with advice to bring it back in if the problem continued.after the third dealer visit for the battery light issue, we still saw that the battery light would light up on several occasions. The dealer made it clear that i should only bring in the car if the battery light was on so that they could diagnose the problem. However, the intermittent times that it was on would not line up well with the dealer?s repair shop?s schedule. I have recorded video evidence that the car exhibits the battery light issue outside of dealer hours and sent it back to toyota.i have tried to contact toyota through both the dealer and directly. I have even filed a claim through california's lemon law. Toyota denied my claim, saying that they conformed my vehicle to the terms of the warranty within a reasonable number of opportunities. Despite this, the problem persists.it has been over half a year since the problem started, and i still do not know if my vehicle is safe to drive in. I fear that one day it may stall again without warning while driving on the road and put my loved ones and myself in danger. Toyota's handling of the situation has been slow and puts my family's safety in danger.

Our 2012 seinna has both sliding doors closed only by rachet ties due to the issues with the doors opening. This has been happening for so long that we are no longer able to keep the doors latched or locked. The door ajar light and warning bells frequently sound as we round corners or if there is a strong wind. Our car alarm also is sensitive to wind and sounds frequently due to doors unable to latch and lock. We fear this poses a great safety issue for our children and grandchildren. Certainly the ties are not safety features keeping doors closed during an accident. Anyone entering the van must do so via the front passenger/driver doors or the rear hatch door. Now, the sunroof is sticking open. All problems began with the power doors. We have had it in for repair before the recall, as we have had issues with our doors since shortly after purchase. Many more times than they were seen for repair. This needs addressed immediately so we can safely drive our $30,000 vehicle that we purchased and paid for. This happens at all times. The date given "when did this happen" is the date we could no longer close the second door. We took the vehicle to two mechanics who did not know how to replace the motors. We then took the vehicle to toyota in crittenden ky. They gave us a costly quote to replace the motors. Due to our vacation, they got both doors to latch...we did not make it 5 miles to our home before both doors were opening on the road. Shortly after, the doors were recalled and we have yet to receive repairs for our vehicle. This is very unsafe.

Owner was driving and vcs and abs warning lights came on and stayed on while driving as well as tire pressure light.brakes on vehicle did not brake as well going down hill. Tires slipped and skidded in the rain on the hills in ventura county. Driver called toyota and they opened up a case number.toyota has attempted to fix the vehicle 3 times and cannot determine the reason why the malfunction keeps occurring.owner has video of the warning lights continuously on while owner is driving.owner feels this is an extreme safety issue, and believes they were sold a lemon car.

Drivers side sliding door opened while car was in drive and moving.passenger had to manually close door.after pushing door closed, it will not open or close manually nor electronically and the cable is frayed and broken free from the front anchor and is hanging from the vehicle.this occurred turning into a parking lot.

Driver's side rear sliding door will not latch shut when closing door either manually of electrically. When closing front latches engage of sliding door but subsequent rear latching does not engage upon end of closing cycle.one can hear rear of sliding door locking mechanism actuator whine when attempting final close cycle.after the van's failure to cycle the door shut at rear, then also at rear a diagnostic sounds a long beep warning sound afterwards.removing negative to see if this would reset the door in some way only served to cancel all electronic commands to the door to open or close useless from any button (fob, overhead control console button, manual door handle opening or open/close buttons). Passenger (right) sliding door unaffected.

The contact owns a 2012 toyota sienna. While driving approximately 40 mph, the rear driver side sliding door suddenly opened. While attempting to shut the door, the door could not be secured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the cause of the failure was due to a faulty door motor and faulty door latch. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,820.

I met an accident when a car (at speed around 65 mph) crossing the red light coming from my right hit my car at my right front and none of the srs bags did not deploy. We were 4 passengers at the time of the accident and we all had minor injuries. All the srs bags for other car has been deployed that hit my car. I am really concerned we all 4 would have been killed and it has been considered as the fatal accident by police report.

On august 27, 2016 i was driving our 2012 toyota sienna on an interstate highway. Traffic was terrible and i rear-ended another vehicle in stop-and-go traffic. The impact was minor, but the engine caught fire and burnt the car to the frame. My wife and i were able to exit the car before it burned. When i exited the car, i took my keys with me. However, i was not able to open any of the doors and everything i had in the back of the van burned. Thankfully, our children were not in the car. If they had been, i would have needed to break windows to attempt to remove them from the car.

Joining highway in a situation where vehicles giving way cause hesitation and then give way causing braking then acceleration repeatedly, transmission refused to downshift on kick down, vehicle would not accelerate, actually slowed significantly forcing following vehicles to brake .vehicle eventually began to pick up speed.generally poor response from transmission in all modes.transmission drops out of drive at low speeds causing engine to race before taking up drive, very hard to operate vehicle smoothly..excessive engine vibration and noise for this price point ,known more refined dieselsknocking from steering column on constant radius turns when making small steering corrections, detectable at low and moderate to high speed.

Brand new toyota sienna. The moonroof/sunroof keeps leaking. Been to the dealer multiple times and when we come back the adviser always tells us the van won't leak anymore only to find out the next time it rains, the car leaks again. We don't know exactly when this started happening( we guessed it leaked a long time ago due to the rusted parts around the glass) since no one really sits in the back. The dealer already replaced the glass and the rubber seals around it.

The passenger side headlight turns off intermittently.it will turn on again if you turn the headlights off and back on, but then will go out again. I have read online about many other toyota owners, specifically those with priuses, but also some siennas, having this problem.dealers don't know how to resolve it - mine wants to replace the bulb for close to $500, but can't guarantee this will resolve the problem and the bulb is apparently working, just not all the time.this is a safety issue to have a non-working headlight.

When pressing the brake the engine revs suddenly and to very high rpms and you have to press down on the brake and/or throw car into neutral/drive and then eventually the issue resolves.happened yesterday when reversing very slowly out of driveway--was pressing brake (not accelerator) and suddenly the engine got very loud and was revving up.pressed brake hard and thru the car into park and pressed the accelerator and the engine went back to normal.very scary.has happened several times before and fortunately we have not run into anything and the car has not taken off at high speed.

Rear differential coupler dysfunctional without no reason. All of the sienna especially awd are suffering from this issue.toyota denies to cover it.

The rear viscous coupler on the awd had gone bad and needs replacement. This part is the same defective part on the rav 4 that had an extended warranty coverage due to bad design but is not covered on the sienna. This part needs a recall.

Unit is producing a speed dependent whine from the rear differential consistent with a bearing failure in the viscous coupler. Issue first observed with approximately 98,000 miles on odometer.this appears to be a common component failure on many toyota awd vehicles manufactured in the last 15-20 years, and the component in question may be under-engineered to perform as expected in normal driving conditions. Replacement part costs $1300+ from toyota, not including installation.

My 2012 toyota sienna recently began making a loud whining noise from the rear axle area. Upon inspection, we were informed that the differential unit was failing and needed to be replaced. This would cost us between $2,500-$3,000. After some research, i discovered that this is a common problem with the sienna, likely caused by a design flaw. The same unit was used on the rav-4, and after similar problems surfaced it was recalled and fixed by toyota.given the danger posed by failure of this part to a family vehicle, and the known existence of the problem by toyota, it seems obvious that it should be immediately recalled and fixed by the manufacturer.

Front axle leaking fluid

The bearing for the viscous coupler has gone bad.it whines loudly when in motion, and the volume correlates with the speed.according to feedback from online this issue happens a lot.toyota will not change the bearing ($50 plus labor).they will only change the whole coupler ($1800 plus labor) as they state the coupler is not serviceable.multiple people have serviced the working coupler to change just the bearing.toyota released a similar tsb for the rav 4 where the coupler failed.

Service tech at the toyota dealer said my electromagnetic coupler / viscous coupler and driveshaft ujoint seized. After further research online it seems its common. Wondering if toyota would put out a recall?

Rear differential has failed at only 60k miles. Well documented issue for awd sienna models yet no recall issued. Safety concern for this family of five.

All underwood components are not only vulnerable, but attractive to rodents.while parked overnight on 4 consecutive nights, rodents have chewed through wires despite attractive rodent poison in the engine bay, the poison is untouched and the wires are attacked every night.to date injector wires, sensor sires, fuel pump wires have been compromised, including sensors for the stability control system, which is disabled.i repaired damage by running new wires, clearing nests and set traps and poison, but now the the fuel system has been attacked and the fuel pump does not activate.3 other cars parked in the same location for the past 5 months are untouched.safety systems are likely to be compromised for any person who must park these outdoors.

When coming to a stop going about 5 mph towards a stop sign, my van accelerated into traffic. Because the van jolted me into oncoming traffic, it almost caused an accident. It doesn't seem to matter whether i am braking or coasting, the van will accelerate uncontrollably.i have two children and not only am i putting their lives at risk, but mine also. I am not able to drive this vehicle due to how dangerous it is.

My 2012 sienna awd xle has 103k miles and has a whirring noise coming from the rear differential area for a while now. The pitch and volume is proportional to speed and is louder as speed increases. My research tells me this is a common defect with the coupling bearings in front of the rear differential. It seems that rav4 owners got a recall for the same issue, but sienna owners did not. Toyota has redesigned this part on later models to avoid the issue.hope you can get this resolved. Thanks.

Says my rear differential - viscous coupler- is bad and needs to be replaced at a cost oof at least $1,300 and that doesn't include installation. Happened just as car went over 100,000 miles and is covered in rav 4 bc had same problem but not 2012 siennanothing happened except it suddenly started not because of anything i did.

While parked, driver began exiting vehicle and van began to roll and continued to roll when gear shift lever confirmed in park and brake continually pressed, eventually hitting a house.

Vehicle began 'whirring' metal noise from underneath. Local mechanic said it was coming from rear differential. I took it to a toyota dealer, they said rear differential coupler needs replacing ($2159) and drive shaft ($992). It seems the bearing ring inside this sealed unit has failed. Noise is continuouswhile driving, concern of part failure - we are taking vehicle on family vacation. Researching on - line it appears to be common problem with the sienna's. Toyota had same issue with rav 4's and issued recall but have not for the sienna's. I called toyota corporate in tx (got up 3 levels)to no avail, and it curt tone, they said they cannot help. Based on other similarstories on line from other sienna owners, this seems to be a common very expensive design flaw problem with this vehicle.

After some hard pull on the door handle, the door finally reopened.the person finger was bruised and the wedding rings shape has been damaged.the ring is no longer round nor straight, it has been torqued by the force of the door mechanism.

Re:tsb # t-sb-0045-14 rev2 september 19, 2017front brake vibrationwe have been having a front brake vibration problem since june of 2016.we have spent money on new brakes, rotors, calipers, and tires, all to try to stop the problem.just a couple weeks ago the tsp referenced above was brought to our attention.we have been to our local toyota dealer and have been in contact with toyota and are not satisfied with the response.they say it it not a safety issue, but how can overheating brakes not be a safety issue?we would appreciate your looking into the problem.we are facing paying hundreds of dollars to fix the problem that they should be resolving.

Toyota sienna 2012 rollback in park: stationary vehicle at home rolled back when in 'park' and driver jumped in and applied brake but brake did not work. Vehcle hit two mailboxes. The parking brake was not applied while stationary.

When braking at normal speeds on the road or the freeway, the car vibrates/shakes. According to the dealership the rotors are warped. At 12,000 miles, this seems to be an under-engineered part on this heavy van, which appears to be uncorrected on the newer model (2013 and 2014) as well. The repairs are not covered under warranty. The only other option is to install aftermarket heavy-duty rotors, an expense that the consumer should not have to pay.

On the afternoon of january 10, 2019, my toyota sienna failed to brake and resulted in a two-car collision. Just before the accident, my son who was seated in the second-row, observed on the multi-information display that the abs, vsc, and trac were displaying.

The vehicle is making clicking noise when wheels are turned and the vehicle is in low speeds forward and in reverse. It appears that the clicking noise comes from the steering system and/or wheels. The clicking sound is becoming louder and louder. Also, it appears that the wheels "jerk" slightly when turned left/right and in motion.

Every time i turn the steering wheel at low speed...it make noise sound like a lose bolt in the universal joint..toyota dealer could not find anything

2012 toyota sienna developed a "clunk" in steering system while turning from a stopped position.the clunk can be felt through both the steering wheel and floor.this is caused by a well-known safety problem toyota has had with several other models including rav4, highlander, and camry (some of which had recalls).toyota is pushing the cost of their mistakes on its customers.this is an ongoing problem, along with others, with toyota.

C1433 error code has on my toyota sienna 2012i think it is safety issue c1433 steering angle sensor internal circuit

The vehicle made thumping / popping noise when turning steering - mostly turning left, but not exclusive to left turns. The sound was recognizable more during lower speeds, and less noticeable at higher speeds. This went on for a couple of months, and fearing safety issues and loss of steering, i got it fixed at the dealership. The dealership replaced the steering mid-shaft and had to perform the alignment at a cost of approx $650. It has been 3 weeks since, and the issue has not occurred again.

Knocking/bumping sounds coming from lower steering column when turning - dealership diagnosis was that the steering intermediate shaft needed to be replaced

We have 54k miles on our van and heard a knocking noise when we would make a turn (right or left). Ibrought to dealership and they said we needed to replace the intermediate steering shaft. The cost was $750. I looked online and see previous recalls for toyota for this same problem. I also searched and found several complaints about this same problem with newer year siennas like mine. This is obviously a defect that is still impacting toyota and consumers. Toyota was not willing to listen to our problem or help in any way.

The vehicle suddenly switched from parking position into reverse without engaging the brake pedal and rolled back. Before rolling back the vehicle was stationary in the parking position on the driveway of my house

Steering wheel column (or part of the steering wheel is making a clicking sound when turning wheels in low speeds or in reverse. The clicking sound is getting louder and the wheels appear to "skip" or "jerk slightly" when turned. I thought that it was a typical or individual issue, but a lot of toyota sienna owners are experiencing the same issue.

Steering knock is experienced at speeds of approximately 35mph and less whenever steering left or right.this condition was first noticed at approximately 80k miles and has gotten worse over the next 50k miles.the knock is notonly felt in the steering wheel, but it has become an audible noise as well.i've read several complaints where dealers have fixed this known problem, however i haven't seen any recalls on this or any information from toyota stating that this is a known condition and is safe to continue operation.until toyota acknowledges this as a known problem and determines whether or not it is a safety issue, then i'll continue to operate my 2012 sienna with the understanding that it is safe to operate and just put up with the knock.it would certainly be great if toyota would at least put its customer's mind at ease by at least making a statement about the condition and whether it is safe to continue operation of vehicles with this condition.

The contact owns a 2012 toyota sienna. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel began to jerk left and right independently without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (orland toyota, 8505 w. 159th street, tinley park, il 60487) where it was diagnosed that the intermediate steering shaft failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Driver and passenger side power sliding door occasionally (i.e. Not all the time) makes an abnormal pop noise when initially opening with the outside handle or with the inside handle on the sliding door. This does not happen the door is opened with other method (e.g. Remote, over-head mount control, button on b-pillar).it seems as if the door doesn't unlatch before the motor start pulling the door. The symptom is very similar to this tsb for certain 2011 sienna: t-sb-0044-11.

I have brought the sienna into toyota on 3 separate occasions, as there was clunking when the lift gate closed. I was told there was nothing wrong with it each time, but the liftgate was and is clearly not aligned. Water is now coming through the top of the lift gate. I did back up into a tree, and had damage to the back quarter panel and it was repaired by a body shop. Toyota is stating that this caused the liftgate to be misaligned and that is causing the water to come through the liftgate. My complaint is i believe that dealership is avoiding realigning the lift gate.i originally brought this in under the manufacturer warranty and i have an extended warranty.there was no vehicle damage to the van upon initial visit. At this point, if the liftgate is not realigned and fixed properly and water continues to come in, it will eventually destroy the mechanism that is used for the auto open and close.in addition, i am also concerned about the overall safety of the vehicle in the event of an accident, if what toyota states is true (the liftgate can be misaligned by quarter panel damage).

Per safercar.gov site "if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the nhtsa vehicle safety hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with nhtsa.so iam filing an online complaint with nhtsa. Toyota said they have to fix lots of cars so that is why the earliest appointments is 2019.why does it take over a year to fix a recall issue , an issue which can harm or kill my passengers(kids).toyota has all the parts but cannot fix it asap. They even said to check other dealers for earlier appointment.if theycannot fix it asap why does other dealers who also sell lots of toyota vehicles will be any faster. So my complaints is does it take one death or 100 or 1000 death for them to expedite the recall fix. "timely manner" per safercar.gov does that mean over a year to fix a recall. If a recall was send to you that can fix the issue and protect your family and they told you they cannot fix the issue for at least another 416 days, would you think that is a "timely manner"if your family's lives mean anything to you then you and any reasonable person would not think 416 days is a "timely manner"will this complaint be heard and resolved or will the big corporations pretty much run the government as usual.can you help at all?

On both sides of the vehicle the rear sliding door latches rusted and broke off resulting in doors not opening and closing properly.

The person sit behind the driver, push the automatic van door close button to close the door then reached over for the seat belt.the person accidentally reach the hand between the sliding door and door frame right next to the seat belt anchor close to the door.the door closed on the open finger and tried to close even tighter.the door mechanism did not reverse and open the door back up, but continues to try to close the door completely. After some hard pull on the door handle, the door finally reopened.the person finger was bruised and the wedding rings shape has been damaged.the ring is no longer round nor straight, it has been torqued by the force of the door mechanism.

The passenger side power sliding door failed in mid-operation leaving the door slightly opened.we were unable to manually or electronically open or close the door in the normal manner, however in order to make the trip home we forcibly positioned the door into the closed position.the dealer claimed that the door motor was damaged by our actions and proceeded to charge us nearly $2000 to repair the motor and door cable.we explained that we could hear the motor engaging just fine and that there must be another root cause, they disagreed and dismissed us completely.we called and complained to toyota directly, however they've taken the same position as the dealer.

Today while cleaning the van, i noticed the lever and/or latch that holds the back sliding doors and moves them open and shut, keeps the back sliding doors on, is starting to rust where the door is connected near the cables that open and shut the door.

Power sliding door would not open or close, when parked. Began to make clicking noises when trying to open or close door. The door would not open completely and it would not latch properly. Cable became frayed and broke and was dangling from door. When we went to have it fixed, the quoted us $1200 to fix it, so we opted to cut it and use it manually. When used manually, the door is often unsafe because it slides rapidly and once closed on our daughter's hand.

I want to correct that on our 2012 sienna it is the back sliding door that it is the "hinge" that opens and shuts the door, locks it, attaches it to the van that is starting to rust. Toyota reply is till it falls off, or starts to "be more rusted, but not in our lifetime" it is cosmetic, yet it is dangerous and will affect the resale value and it is near the wires that open and shut it, which i have read problems about. Toyota should take responsibility for the hinges rusting and replace them before someone does get hurt, you just don't wait for the accident to happen or till someone gets hurt.

The sensor in the power sliding door of my 2012 toyota sienna, would not stop beeping even though the door was closed. The latch was rusting away, and toyota wanted $1,400 to replace it. The driver's door latch is made of stainless steel, so why is the sliding door latch rusting? and why can't we disable the sensor?

Toyota sienna owners received a safety recall notice in november 2016 from toyota warning of issues with the vehicle's doors, and how they can slide open uninitiated while driving, thus increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.today is april 21, 2017, and there has been no update to this issue, and no fix to the problem.the overwhelming majority of sienna owners drive their children in the back seats where these sliding doors can open on their own while driving.when are they going to fix it?alternatively, they need to give us our money back on our vehicles so we can get one without this concern.

The recall was issued just over a year ago and it has not been corrected by the manufacturer. This is unacceptable! why hasn't the manufacturer been forced to come up with a permanent solution to the problem and not a work around as they suggested in the recall notice? fine them heavily for not having a timely fix available.

(rear power sliding doors: no safety sensors to stop the door )i pulled the handle of the rear power sliding door to open to let my dog out.she put her head into the opening between the tractor cable that glides the door back and the rear portion of the door.the power door continued to slide back and inward.my repeated attempts to stop the door included me pulling against it with all my strengththe door just kept sliding either back or forward.my dog tried to squeeze herself out and only managed to get half her body out. She looked like she was cut in half.my neighbors came over and held the door to stop it from moving.the space between the body of the van and the sliding door was so tight (3 to 4 inches), i could not push or pull my dog out.i thought she was being crushed to death.i went to disengage the battery to make sure the door would not move and my dog was able to wriggle her entire body out of that tiny opening.this lasted for about 10 minutes and was terrifying.my dog suffered only bruised ribs.i had a chrysler town and country before this and the door sensors stopped at the slightest interference.this is an incredible safety hazard.

The engine was off. I opened the rear hatch, while i was under the hatch placing items in the back of the car my husband not realizing i had already opened it and was under it pushed the button to open the hatch but since it was already open it started to close on me.upon meeting resistance from me (substantial i might add) it did not stop closing and i had to jump into the rear of the vehicle to prevent being seriously injured.either there is no sensor to sense an obstruction in the door or the sensor is faulty.we will notify the dealer of this but this is a sensor that should not fail, this door is big enough to seriously injure someone or kill a child.i was not injured seriously but my neck and shoulder are sore at this point from pushing back on the door and time will tell if it is more than a minor strain.

Every time i turn the steering wheel at low speed...it make noise sound like a lose bolt in the universal joint..toyota dealer could not find anything

As i have driven on the highway, on three separate occasions, my rear sliding doors have spontaneously opened on their own. After it happened the first time, we turned off the automatic door feature and it still happened another two times. When we took it into the dealership we were informed that this was a "known issue with 2007-2011 toyota sienna's but that toyota has not acknowledged an issue yet with 2012 sienna's". We were also told it would cost over $5000 for a partial fix. When i called toyota corporation their response was "what do you want us to do about it?

The tiers wear out to quickly around 20k miles

I have two recalls associated with this minivan. One with the takata airbag, another with the sliding door. Called the dealer mossy toyota at san diego in late july but there is no help over two months on either problem. I am not sure what to do next? can you please give me some instructions?

My spare tire cable rusted and the tire fell of and i ran over it.

Passenger door - motor lock assembly failure where passenger door will not shut and flies open when driving. Rusting of door components from improper door sealing around door frame. Popping sound when opening motorized passenger door. Fortunately, door was stopped initially when door failure occurred but door flew open after i shut it and drove the vehicle. I then stopped to shut door and door would not close at all.

My son was attempting to get in the car and my husband, who was in the driver's seat and who thought he was already in the car, closed the sliding van door by pressing the overhead remote button. My son was trapped, arms pinned up. The door did not bounce back. This is not the first time this has happened, but it is the first time that it was a child (vs. Someone like me, who is strong enough to stop the force). I had to run out and force the door back. The latch was piercing his other side and he and his twin sister (who watched the whole thing, helplessly) were very frightened. He is probably just bruised, but what if i hadn't been standing right there?! the car was not on, and was parked in our garage.

The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. Updated 03/20/14*lj updated 03/21/2014 the consumer stated as traffic began to slow down, he discovered the vehicle would not slow down, when he applied the brake.updated 04/03/14

Owner was driving and vcs and abs warning lights came on and stayed on while driving as well as tire pressure light.brakes on vehicle did not brake as well going down hill. Toyota sienna mini van spontaneous accelerationour minivan spontaneously accelerated. I don't know if you know toyota has been having this issue with older models, but ours is a 2012 toyota sienna xle limited all wheel drive mini van. I put on the brake to let my wife out when the van took off as if i had the gas pedal to the floor, yet my foot was on the brake. We kept moving, so i pushed the stop/ignition button and the van would not stop. I then put on the emergency brake and the van was still moving, i watched the rpm's keep going up on the tachometer. I then pushed the off/ignition button again, still would not stop, my next step was to put it in neutral, but i didn't want to blow the engine, so i pushed the off/ignition button again and the engine finally stopped. We were freaked out we had only read about this not thinking it would ever happen to us.now the biggest problem is i don't feel comfortable having wife drive the van anymore. I called toyota of nashua, they basically said we can inspect it and call toyota of california. I called toyota of ca and they seemed nice and talked about giving us a loaner car. Both toyota of nashua, nh and toyota of california both inspected the van and said ?there is nothing wrong with the van?. They said you can come and pick it up.there are many youtube video showing this problem and even re-enacting the situation, yet toyota claims user error.i have grown up working on cars for about 35 years, i fixed and driven cars hard. I've done things with cars that most people only see in the movies. I can promise you it was not user error and it was not the floor mats fact!!!beware toyota & lexus owners.

The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 900. Updated 08/23/12*ljupdated 08/23/12

While driving on an expressway with steep grades, with the cruise control set, the speed on steep downgrades would increase by up to 5 mph above the speed set on the cruise control.in other vehicles i have driven in recent years, i do not recall the speed variation exceeding 3 mph from the cruise control setting.

Making a right hand turn and i believe the truck in front of me lost the trailer hitch.i was only traveling about 15 mph.drove over a trailer hitch in the road and all the airbags deployed, causing a violent stop to the van and injuries and shock to my daughter and myself

The intermittent wiper is reveresed.the slow is running fast and the fast running slow.took it to the dealer and they advised that they could not do anything.also the dash is not flush with the instrument cluster.

The contact owns a 2012 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the sun roof exploded with a loud noise. The sun roof was closed at the time of failure. The contact maneuvered off the exit ramp and maneuvered to the side of the road. There were small fragments of glass that entered the vehicle upon accessing the sun roof. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

The contact owns a 2012 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, an unknown object fractured the windshield and glass shattered all over the contact. The contact also stated that there was a two feet wide crack on the outside layer of the wind shield, however the inside layer of the glass was shattered. The police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

2012 toyota sienna had two front-wheel blowouts in less than one year.tires had less than 25,000 miles in both instances.

Front tires wear out too fast on this vehicle. I purchased vehicle around 60k miles. Now at 130k and on 4th set of tires. All michelin/top quality from costco. Rotations at 5-7k religiously. Front end suspension/steering in good shape/parts replaced when wear is seen. Alignment good. Horrible. Wear is on outer edges of both front tires.

The tires wear out too quickly. Two years ago i bought 70000 mile tires and after less the 30000 miles all four tires were worn down on the outside edge. The alignment was checked at the dealer every 10000 miles and the tires were rotated. This is a safety issue because the tires get excessively worn before they are expected to. The car was not moving. I noticed the excessive wear and took it to the dealer. They said that this car just eats up tires.

Toyota sienna goes through tires at a rate 1.5-two times as fast as the tire manufacturers expected mile warranty. Michelin primacy mxv4 (not a cheap tire) had a little over 40k miles before they needed to be replaced. Replaced with continental true contact (90,000 mile tire) and i have driven about 45k miles on them and they are once again in need of replacement. I rotate tires at the dealership on a regular basis as well as keep them inflated at the recommended inflation. Vehicle has also had regular alignment checks and performed alignments. In reading multiple forums, this seems to be an issue with the toyota sienna that toyota refuses to correct, not a tire manufacturer problem.

Tires on this vehicle wear out very quick, warranty is for 60000 miles, michelin tire p235/60rprimacy? mxv4.

We realized that our vehicle had a flat tire. When we went to attempt to put on the spare, we noticed that all of the lug nuts had "swollen" and none of the lug nuts would fit in the corresponding socket. Ultimately, the lug nut caps delaminated, and it took over an hour to tear the caps from the nuts. If this had happened on the side of the highway, addressing this issue would have been incredibly dangerous. It does not seem to make sense to continue using lug nuts with decorative caps for aesthetic reasons while impacting the safety of drivers with flat tires.

I own a 2012 sienna with approximately 34,000 miles. The wheels are aluminum, and the tires have all received routine rotations at the dealership, and tire repairs at the local tire dealer, all of which involved the use of air driven impact wrenches. Impact wrenches have damaged the two piece chrome plated protective covering on most of the lug nuts on my wheels to the point that they literally cannot be removed or reinstalled using the factory supplied lug wrench. The wrench no longer fits the damaged lug nuts.twice recently i have had flats, requiring the use of the factory supplied lug wrench to remove the flat and install the spare. This task was impossible both times because of existing disfigurement to one or more of the lug nuts on the wheels involved. I had to get help from tire shops both times to change my tires. Fortunately both times help was available, but without such help, a simple flat tire can strand motorists, subjecting them to extreme safety hazards with terrible potential safety consequences. Once removed, lug nuts cannot be reliably retightened.

2012 toyota sienna awd has excessive premature wear on tires.new set of tires, following manufactures recommended maintenance, has consumed a set of tires in under 20,000 miles. Driving conditions were normal in-town operations, maintained recommended tire inflation, rotation.
