My 2007 toyota sienna airbag light has been blinking off and on for about 1 year, because it would do it on an inconsistent basis, i didn't get it checked because it would go off and then come one again. Today at 81,000 miles i took my car to get serviced for an oil change, so i had them diagnose the airbag light and they told me i needed a whole new air bag system that would cost me over $1300.00 and i feel this is a safety issue and should be the responsibility of the manufacturer. The airbag system is not something a consumer have access to, to cause wear and tear. I've been driving my children around not realizing the whole system would need to be replaced. Should this be a recall because i am seeing several complaints in this model. And i am unsure how a recall is established but i feelthis needs to be a recall.
Air bag light is flashing.
Flashing airbag light in 2007 sienna with ~90k miles.dealer states front passenger airbag sensor failure - $700 to replace.not under warranty; error code b0111.many similar complaints found on the internet for 06/07 siennas.opted not to replace sensor due to concerns about it failing again.cannot believe that toyota does not stand behind its airbags more than the basic warranty.have owned numerous vehicles (94 acura for 7 yrs; 96 mazda for 7 yrs; 01 bmw for 8 yrs; 03 acura for 9 yrs) with no airbag problems ever.no one in my or my wife's family has ever had an airbag problem similar to this.
The airbag light on dash flashes on and off at start of engine and continues while car is running. After researching this problem i quickly found out this is a known issue with numerous complaints. I also understand that if airbag light is flashing that airbags are not going to deploy in event of frontal impact. I feel this is safty issue and the manufacturer should recall these vehicles.
Last wednesday morning another car rear ended my sienna at high speed at stop sign while i was waiting for my turn to proceed. I was travelling with my family. Sienna got totaled due to this. Side doors, back door, back bumper, cargo and third row seat area all got impacted due to this and everything caved inward by few inches. My entire family has been shaken to the core and me and my wife are sufferings from severe pain in back and neck since the accident. The cabin was filled will white smoke (powdery stuff), but no air bags got deployed (opened) due to the impact. We are lucky that we all are still alive since we had been hit from the back at high speed. The car hitting us from the back must be travelling above 40 miles an hour since my fully loaded sienna with 3 adults and a child skid forward by almost 8-10 feet. This is a serious concern that even after such a high impact collision, none of the air bag opened. The vehicle was stationary, on a highway at a stop sign (ridge rd and route 52 junction in kendall county, il). I have attached the police report and also the rear of my car. It rendered my car undrivable and i had to get it towed to the garage.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer performed a diagnostic and located the failure at the passenger air bag sensor. The passenger air bag sensor disabled the air bag system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 90,000.
Srs light flashes.the yellow connector under the passenger side seat is the culprit.there are hundreds of incidents on this on the auto forums.many have commented that toyota knows about the problem. Please investigate.this is a safety issue and toyota should do a full safety recall to solve the problem.thank you .
Srs warning light continued flashing after start up. Dealer confirmed error code b0111. Passengers air bag and harness needs replaced. These items are covered with "updated parts" in a toyota tsb 0162-10, dated 02/27/2008, covering sienna model years 2004 through 2008. Over one hundred similar occurrences are found on various safety related and owner based internet sites. This is an obvious oem defect of a critical vehicle system that toyota has been aware of for some time now.
Upon starting up the vehicle the drivers side airbag indicator began blinking instesd of going out.called dealership who said it would be $60-$115 just to look at it and he couldn't imagine what it was.after looking online and seeing the high cost of repair and the number of complaints i will be taking to an independant mechanic to get his thoughts.vehicle has not been in an accident so i do not feel as if this is a component that should go bad.and if it does the consumer should not have to pay for repair as this is a safety component.
During the past few months the toyota sienna le airbag warning light intermittently came on or stayed on.contacted toyota stated not a mechanical problem.could still be driven was on vacation in tulsa oklahoma.drove back to charleston, sc.recently contacted local toyota dealership to no avail.noticed there has been a recall on toyota sienna starting year 2008 to present.
The airbag light came on in the dashboard; took the van to local dealer they diagnosed code p0116 2 part repair replacement of lf side air bag assembly and wiring harness replacement which cost over $1100;
Front side airbag indicator turns on, then, it sometime off, sometime on. It continues like this way again and agin to today. Have it checked at toyota dealer. They are not sure what's going on. Suggets replace the airbag.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
The airbag warning light on my 2007 sienna started flashing.the toyota dealer diagnosed the problem as a failure in the wiring harness of the airbag system under the driver's seat.the dealer installed updated air bag connectors and pig-tail harness as per tsb.dealer's charge: $337.39.a review of the nhtsa database of complaints for this model and year shows 12 similar complaints out of a total of 173, as of 9/12/2013.given the critical nature of this equipment, the need for it to operate in an emergency and the frequency of this failure it should be considered a safety issue.the manufacturer should either recall affected vehicles or make this repair at no cost to the owner.
Air bag indicator comes on and off intermittently and appears to be corrected by moving loose wires under front seats. Wires look to have bad connection. Very unpredictable. This has been occuring since 59,000 miles for the past year. Can happen while vehicle is in motion or at rest. Toyota will not admit problem.
Had 2007 sienna serviced for blinking air bag light at toyota dealership. Service dept. Stated that the sensor needed to be cleaned; charge was roughly $100 as the vehicle was over the 60,000/5 yr warranty. On 05/29/2012 car was serviced again for blinking air bag light; however, service dept. Stated that the light was not blinking at the time the car was serviced, so the problem could not be assessed. The air bag light came on again for the third time and we were informed that the wire on the passenger side needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,100. Funny how the light keeps coming on, but the problem could never be assessed, and now it costs $1,100 to fix. Needless to say, we are not having it fixed and we pray for no accidents--pretty scary. We have had nothing but problems with this vehicle and we will never purchase another toyota.
The contact owned a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving 45 mph, the brake pedal was abruptly depressed but, did not stop the vehicle. As a result, the contact's vehicle skid and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was deemed destroyed. The manufacturer wasnotified of the failure. The failure mileage was 149,000. Updated 08/02/16*ljupdated 11/30/2017
I have a 2007 toyota sienna van. The srs light intermittently comes on. I took it in for general maintainance as well as to check the air bags. I got an error code of bo111 and was told it would be several hundred to fix. I chose not to have it fixed at this time as it was the passenger side. Now the light has gone off. Im not sure if in fact it is an airbag problem or electrical. I was also in an accident in 2009 which i could not even open my door and the vehicle was not driveable and the airbags did not deploy. Toyota is looking into this. Hopefully, it will be covered because i do believe this is a manufacturers issue.
Side impact collision by chevy pickup on a city street.vehicle was moving straight after stopping at a stop sign.driver side completely damaged, but no airbag deployed, not even a single one.
I just bought a 2007 toyota sienna in march of 2018 it is in very good shape it only had 70,000 miles on it is why i bought it.but the dash lights keep coming on now the airbag light is on and the man said i needed a new air bag system. I'v only put about 7,000 miles on since i bought it. This is a safety issue this should not happen. Why is happening ? does anyone know about this issue or have any suggestions.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator intermittently illuminated. The contact was concerned that the air bag might not deploy in the event of a crash. The vehicle was taken to walser toyota (4401 american blvd w, bloomington, mn 55437 (612) 294-0291) where the contact was informed that a diagnostic and a repair fee would be charge. The vehicle was not repaired due to the diagnostic and repair fees. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
Driver air bag light is flashing at any speed and when standing. I check online, there were 13 same reported cases. Some said there was recall on this problem, but i have never received notice of recall from toyota. Please let me know. This is a safety issue![xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2007 toyota sienna.consumer writes in regards to vehicle registration and airbag connector recall notice was sent to wrong address.
My name is [xxx] and i have a 2007 toyota sienna with an airbag light that intermittently comes on and off. As a mechanic, i researched my airbag light diagnostic trouble code b0111 open in side squib rh circuit and there is a tsb on repairing the airbag light. It says to replace the airbag assembly in the passenger front seat. As mechanic, i know that when the airbag light is on, the airbags will not deploy in an emergency situation. Therefore, i don't see why a safety issue such as this is not a recall.so instead of a recall, i must now spend $900 on just the airbag, nevermind the cost to install it?i do not believe that i should be responsible for such a costly repair due to the fact that this is a safety issue that i could not have prevented.the tsb number is t-sb-0252-08 from my repair program, mitchell on demand and it says toyota's reference number is [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My vehicle's safety restraint ( airbag) light on the dash came on and i took it to the dealer for analysis.they told me the entire restraint system would have to be rewired at a cost of $4000.00.without it, i have no airbags.this should be a recall item, not the responsibility of the car owner.
Airbag light on all the time
Air bag light was on. Dealer had to replace p/s seat airbag.
The contact owned a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving at 35 mph, the contact lost consciousness and rear ended another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the head, neck, right shoulder and back that required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, another vehicle crashed into contact's vehicle from the rear and the air bag failed to deploy. The vehicle also caught on fire and was later deemed as destroyed. A police report was filed and no injuries were sustained. The manufacturer was not notified of failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Air bag light on in the dash of my minivan .. The start like month ago but when off but know it's just flashing the light of the air bag please there something we can do to fix it... My miniva only have 86000 mills on it.. Never been in crash scene so. I don't know what's happening...
Airbag lights came on and they replaced passenger seat air bag assy and wire floor.
Started vehicle and the air bag srs light began flashing.the light flashed for about 2 weeks then went out. About 1 week later it began flashing again.the last couple of weeks it has been on and off .it will be off 2days or so then flash for a day or two. It was off yesterday but on today. I have researched the problem on line and found many people with the same problem. I have not been to a dealer because of the high cost many people are being quoted to repair the problem. Some people had their cars repaired only to find the problem return.i am very concerned about this safety problem. When it flashes, is it operational? we may be driving our cars without air bag protection.
I have problem white my toyota sienna pasanger a ir baghave code bo111
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the right front seat air bag and wiring harness were defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 112,000.
The airbag light comes on and stays on when the vehicle is turned on.if the vehicle is turned off then back on, sometimes the light turns off.other times, moving the connectors under the front seats causes it to turn off.
Flashing airbag light in 2007 sienna with ~49k miles. Dealer suggested replace floor wire and air bag assembly - $3500 total. Not under warranty; error code b0116. Many similar complaints found on the internet for 06/07 siennas. Cannot believe that toyota does not stand behind its airbags more than the basic warranty when safely equipment failed less than 50k miles. The repair cost is too high which is a result of bad design. Safety equipment failure should be responsible by manufacture, especially the mileage is less than 50k. Have owned numerous vehicles with no airbag problems ever.
2007 toyota van. Consumer states she was hit on thedriver's side by another vehicle and the airbags did not deploy *tgwthe consumer stated she hit her head on the window.
Rear door latch rubber assembly has melted and becomes hot to the touch. The circuit under the melted rubber has direct contact to my fingers while attempt to open the back door. And appears to be a fire issue. Since the back door is no longer operational, it may cause safety issues for passengers sitting in the back row of the van.
I currently have a 2007 toyota sienna with 130k miles.my car is good condition and has been very reliable over the last several years.recently both the drivers and passenger sliding doors stopped working and thewire that is part of the door mechanism popped and is now hanging from the back windows.i am at this time unable to open either door and there is no way to manually open the doors.i have children and they are having to climb from the front to the read.there was no indicator that this was becoming an issue.it as if toyota was aware of this problem, however they are not addressing it without charging outrageous prices.the dealer claimed wear and term, however my door may be opened and closed 1 to 2 times per day, if that.the response was very nonchalant as if was not a big deal.i am very disappointed in the issue and more disappointed in the response from my dealer, whom i have been dealing with since 1997.toyota really needs to address this issue.this is not only a mechanical malfunction, it is a safety issue.
Traveling on east bond hwy 66 around 07:00 am with a speed around 20 mphthe fire started to come from engine driver side.stopped the car & took children out and watch the whole car burned until fire engine showed up.

The drivers side electric sliding passenger door has failed to close and lock automatically while in a parked situation.
The 2007 sienna van in question is one of many plagued by an array of door latch problems of many different varieties that were not covered under a very poorly executed so called 'recall' on this van. The whole design was poor from the start, and the consumer is getting taken to the bank by the dealers and the company. When they want a $1000 to fix one door that they know if faulty that's simply greed for one, and there are usually two doors at fault. Then if you do get them repaired, many times the fix doesn't last very long before your back again. They just had another recall for their2011 and newer van doors, they still haven't fixed them yet. They might not open, then they might open without warning, then they might not open at all. Both of my doors have the same issue, and i've read about many more people that have the same problem. They fix this but not this, it's very frustrating & expensive, i can hardly believe how poorly toyota and their dealer network have handled this issue. I have been to toyota with my vehicle, it was a joke and it cost me $100 for much of nothing.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the rear windows and vent windows failed to open. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the part needed to do the repair was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Updated. 5/28/15 *ta updated 10/05/2017
Driver side automatic sliding rear door fails to open with remote or interior front controls. Will only open with sustained pull on outside door handle.will also only close with sustained pull on outside handle.
The installed dvd navigation system in our sienna has failed.this in it's self is not a safety concern, but it's failure has also caused the back-up camera to become inoperative.we use this extensively and the sudden loss of it is almost as bad as loosing all your rear view mirrors.
Passenger power sliding door not working properly.passenger side power sliding door opens on its own.passenger power sliding door will not close on its own.toyota dealer diagnosed as power sliding door motor and cable failure.the cost was quoted at $1700.this is a safety concern because when the door is manually closed it will just automatically open when driving down the road.
The automatic sliding doors no longer work properly.
I was in a parking lot with car completely off, the side passenger door was fully opened. I was leaning into the car putting groceries in when the door automatically starting closing on my body. It did not stop and started crushing me. I could not get out and as a result have left hip and right knee pain. The door finally opened on it's own. The door should have sensed resistance or something there but it did not. If i were i small child i would have been seriously injured or killed.
1. We bought toyota sienna 2007 le #3 on july 21, 20072. After 2 weeks on aug 4 2007 maintenance required and all other lights were on and ac was stopped working. We called the dealer and he scheduled earliest appointment on august 7 2007. 3. On august 6 2007 toyota sienna broke down on interstate and i towed this van to the dealer.4. Dealer first found problem with the alternator and replaced alternator in a week.5. Then he found another problem as two computer inside car were not functioning properly and he worked with toyota specialists and order replacements of computer harness equipment.6. After installing these new equipment he found that all the lights on the dash board are turned on with this vehicle.7. He scheduled inspection to resolve this issue by toyota technicians. They are flying in from california to resolve this.
The rear hatch opener is made of some rubber composition that has melted away and will at times not even open rear hatch. Numerous online incidents reflect similar description of melted rubber that leaves fingers coated in hazardous material when attempting to open rear hatch.
Rear door latch handle became hot and melted. Used duct tape to cover handle. The handle stopped working in december. The door will not unlock.
2007 toyota sienna rear door latch rubber assembly has melted and becomes hot to the touch. Appears to be a fire issue. A relative with the same make and model in the maryland area reports the same problem. Numerous incidents online report the same problem, with a disturbing issue of the rear tail gate inoperable in freezing weather. Which would appear to be another safety issue of retrieving individuals in an emergent situation.
June 12, 2012, odometer 45,000 miles, 2 hours from home, drivers side manual door would not close and latch shut. Called nashua, nh toyota dealership, told lots of problems with doors, need to make appointment, average repair over $1,000. Took to my regular mechanic and problem temporarily fixed for $244.80(latch assy seized up. Remove, lube, reinstall. If repair doesn't last, new part needed. Cost for part only, $570.23, plus labor). July 2013, odometer 65,000 miles, same door not latching again, door slides open during acceleration. Called toyota dealership in nashua, nh, told door not covered under "latch assembly extended warranty" because door is manual. Have made appointment with my regular mechanic again to see what can be done to fix problem.my vehicle has 2 sliding doors, drivers side is manual, passenger side is automatic. However, the manual door has a motor and latch assembly to pull the door in and latch it after it's been slid closed. This function is not working properly. The extended warranty i received from toyota in july 2012 states " this warranty extension is for your rear sliding door latch assemblies for a period of 9 years from the vehicles date of first use or 120,000 miles whichever comes first". There is no mention the door must be an automatic door. I believe toyota is trying to limit how many warranty fixes they do by giving customers incorrect information. I'm also beginning to have problems with the passenger side automatic door not closing. However i can only afford the time and money for one fix at a time. There are huge safety issues here and toyota should be held responsible.
2007 toyota sienna.consumer writes in regards to vehicle dashboard and back door latch has become sticky/ melting.

As i drive on dry roads at speeds between 35 - 65mph, my car indicator lights and alarm sound off about vsc (vehicle stability control) and slippery road lights on my dashboard. My vehicle's steering and braking are affected by it. It starts to rattle the steering wheel and the braking pumps - causing a reduction in speed and control for the driver. It caused me to fear a possible vehicular accident so much that i pulled off the road. The problem then disappears and doesn't reappear until i encounter a similar driving condition. I fear that if this occurs on a crowded highway, it will cause me to get into a vehicular accident due to the abrupt loss of control. My minivan was purchased to keep my family 'safer' and this experience is causing me to fear using this vehicle.after conducting an internet search it appears to be happening to toyota sienna vehicles between model years 2004 - 2008. Mechanics don't seem to understand how to fix other than resetting the sensors; which doesn't fix the problem but just delays its reappearance. In all cases, i experienced this problem only while driving at speeds between 35mph and higher. It's occurred on dry and wet roads, usually while on a curved road.
At random speeds, on curves and straightaways, the traction lights alarms and engages the brakes. This seems really dangerous. Our mechanic doesn't know what is the cause or how to fix it.
The slip indicator sends a false positive which causes the brakes to apply automatically when i go over 10 mph.the road is dry, weather clearand there is no poor conditions for drivingthe vehicle is unsafe because while i am driving it can come to an abrupt halt and the vehicle behind me could crash into me.the vehicle overrides my attempt to accelerate and i am subject to the 'computer's decision to brake unnecessarily.i had a dealer look into this and they said it was the brakes.i have always been a loyal toyota customer, but there are many complaints about this problem some of which are on youtube and toyota seems to be unwilling to address this issue. Please help i need my vehicle and i need to be safe while driving.
I had the front brakes and rotors replaced a few weeks ago.this past weekend all 4 tires were replaced.when driving off the dealer after the tire replacement, i noticed the abs and vsc lights were on.turned back and took the minivan back to the dealer.next day service mgr said according to the mechanic, the abs actuator needs to be replaced.this is a $2500 part, plus labor.
When driving in perfectly dry conditions and going anywhere from 30-70 mph on a winding road or highway, the vsc lights will come on and the alarm will sound and you can't accelerate. It's very scary and dangerous because you are not in control of the vehicle. It happens every time we go for a drive on a winding road or highway. I have read hundreds of similar complaints from other sienna owners. It's clearly a widespread problem. Toyota needs to issue a recall as all the repair shops we have gone to cannot figure out how to fix the problem.
The vehicle stability control system (vsc) is malfunctioning.at random times when the vehicle is in motion the system goes off and begins applying the breaks.this is very dangerous, and causes the vehicle to be uncontrollable.this problem is not related to slick or wet road conditions.it happens in cold and dry hot weather. It is also not related to speed as the problem continues when i drive well below the speed limit.i have taken the van to the dealer, and been told there is nothing wrong.i am very concerned for the safety of my family.
Intermittent vsc activation after starting the engine and driving straight from a stop position. This condition is always accompanied by the instrument panel vsc light and audible warning buzzer turning on at the same time.brakes activated at same time causing skid
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving approximately 20 mph, flames appeared underneath the engine compartment without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,000.
The oil cooling line suddenly ruputured with no previous warnings or leaks.
Oil cooler pressure hoseexplode while driving with my kids back from the church oil were leaking all over the street the car was smoking in front drivers were honking and scream your car is on fire and a nasty smoke where coming out of it. If i was not alertedby a good samaritan my kids and i will pay our lives. I called main office toyota and made a complain but they refused to help although this part 'hose is not used by toyota company for lack of safety. The supervisor was not listening and does not care about his consumers lives instead he said oh luckily some body told the car is smoking and we will do something about if it caught on fire or there is life lost. This respond is totally unacceptable he also refuse to email me a letter saying this part of the car was not recalled although it did.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that upon inspection, it was found that there was an oil leak. The contact diagnosed that the oil cooler hoses needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired by the contact. The approximate failure and current mileage was 79,303.
When accelerating the engine makes a tracking noise like bad vavle springs or camps. Only hear the noise when accelerating. Started happening after 60k miles. Common problem with the engine toyota uses with the sienna.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact noticed there was a trail of oil behind the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic, who stated that there was a crack in the oil sensor tube. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 110,000.
My wife was driving our 2007 toyota sienna on a major road when she noticed smoke coming from under it. She pulled into a parking lot and shut the engine off, avoiding engine seizure because within just a couple of minutes it had lost 2 qts of oil onto the ground due to a rupture in a rubber oil vvt-1 line. After reading online i found out this is a very common problem which toyota has refused to address properly. In 2009 siennas the line have been switched to all metal leaving the rest of their earlier customers with ticking time bombs. This type of failure is unacceptable, an engine seizure at 70mph will be deadly and the spilt oil on the road posses hazards as well. A toyota dealership wants to charge over $500.00 to replace this $23.00 hose.
Was driving vehicle on freeway at 70 mph when engine noise started.i soon noticed the check engine light and the oil pressure light was on and stopped the van. Added more oil and restarted the van.i then investigated and found oil leaking out of a ruptured rubber oil cooler hose.i lost nearly 6 quarts of oil that had been pumped out on the highway. (possibly causing a traffic hazardto other drivers)towed van to dealer and had to pay over $250.00 for repairs to the oil cooler lines. New lines are now all metal lines. Dealer refuses to accept any responsibility for possible engine damage.
While traveling at 75mph on interstate, i noticed heavy white smoke trailing vehicle. Slowed and pulled over. Inspected engine and found large oil leak. No check engine or low oil lights illuminated prior to smoke. Entire bottom of the car coated with oil, including exhaust system, front passenger tire and rear tires. No oil registered on dipstick. Towed to toyota dealer where the car was purchased. Failed part was the oil cooler hose. Technician showed me the faulty rubber hose which had a pin-hole leak and there was barely one half quart in the engine, which holds 6.4 quarts. Judging by how often i had been looking in the rear view mirror due to traffic, i'd estimate the leak was only a few minutes in length and the engine would have been without oil and at highway speed very soon if i hadn't noticed. This is not an extraordinary event until you realize that the oil hose that failed was part of toyota's 90k oil cooler hose limited service campaign for 2gr-fe v6 engines in 2011. I had my car undergo this fix, which simply replaced a rubber hose with another rubber hose which was supposedly made from a compound that better resists hot oil. The replacement hoses are failing, which is what toyota tsb-0201-11 "oil cooler seep" (dec 21, 2011) is meant to cover and it replaces the rubber oil hoses with an all-steel hose. However, it only applies to customers still under the 36,000 mile warranty and with a "seeping" hose. Most 2007 sienna owners, like me, were well past warranty mileage in 2011, had no indication from toyota that the rubber oil hoses were potential problems and are only getting the steel hose after catastrophic engine oil loss. I was billed $532 for the oil cooler hose replacement and quoted $307 to replace the o2 sensor which was damaged by the volume of hot oil that sprayed on it. Huge oil loss at highway speeds. Toyota knows, but many owners do not.
Oil cooling hose broke and all engine oil leaked from engine. Vehicle was in motion but made to parking spot. No warning of event and no dash/engine light signaling problem. Only oil on ground under van signaled problem. Van was subjected to recall in 2011 which replaced hose. Dealer replaced parts as repair with a complete redesigned part removing rubber hosed all together. This was not a recall but owners expense. Manufacturer never notified owner of this defective part or event possibility.
I am the second owner of the vehicle.i was driving on interstate 5 at 65 miles per hours from sacramento to los angeles.the time was 1600 on 13 april 2014. I did not notice any crack or noise from road debris damage while i am diving. The red low oil warning light on the dashboard did not turn on at the time when the incident happened.i was pulled over a rest stop to use restroom; i also walk around the vehicle to conduct a visual check and fluid check at the same time.i was discovered engine oil was all over the engine bay, undercarriage and the back lift door during the visual check.when i checked the engine oil, the dip stick showed no engine oil.again, the red low oil warning light did not turn on which indicate low engine oil at that time even the engine had no engine oil.vehicle was towed to toyota dealership and discovered an oil cooler hose which make out of rubber was ruptured. Even the oil cooler hose was replaced with a metal oil hose; the engine was damaged by operated without engine oil for a significant period. Prior to the trip, i purchased the all metal vvt-i hose from a local dealership, again no warning from the dealership.i used a local repair shop to replace the vvt-i hose locate at the passage side of the engine to an all metal pipe since i have knowledge on the rubber vvt-i hose have the same rupture issue.however, i have no knowledge on the t-sb-0201-11 which is the toyota technical service bulletin title oil cooler pipe seep.there is recall regarding shift lock solenoid and severe corrosion of the spare tire carrier cable on the 2007 sienna, however, there is no recall on possible rupture on vvt-i hose or oil cooler hose.if the recall was issued or at least warned by dealership, i will fix the oil cooler hose at the dealer or a local repair shop and avoid the engine damage which leaded to engine replacement.
Oil cooler piper ruptured after starting and driving the vehicle causing rapid oil loss while being driven to work. If i did not notice the puddle of oil left by my wifes car she would have driven it home and surely blown the engine. The part was replaced in 2010 during limited service recall but still burst 5 years later.
Back on august 7, my vehicle was brought to balise toyota because of a check engine light. They replaced all 6 spark plugs and iginition coils 1 & 6. On october 24, the check engine light came back on and i brought it back to balise toyota. They saw misfire codes. The cleared the codes and couldn't duplicate it, so nothing was fixed. On december 7, the check engine light came on again. This time, dissatisfied with balise, i brought it to colonial auto. Again, dan murray, the owner of colonial auto found misfire codes and faulty ignition coils for numbers 2 - 5. This resulted in a total charge of $961. I contacted toyota, because i am unsatisfied with the relability of the sienna and the lack of care on balise toyota's follow through. They should have caught this back in august, but now my warranty has expired and toyota won't help.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated while stopped at traffic light, the vehicle stalled with the brake pedal depressed. Several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact shifted the vehicle into neutral and coasted into a driveway. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that there was no oil in the engine. The contact refilled the oil however, the oil immediately leaked out the vehicle. A mechanic arrived on scene and replaced an oil hose. After the hose was replaced, the contact heard an abnormal knocking noise in the engine. The contact took the vehicle to several independent mechanics and was informed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The contact had the vehicle towed to suburban toyota of farmington hills (25000 haggerty rd, farmington hills, mi 48335) who confirmed there was an engine failure. The contact then had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where the engine was replaced. After the engine replacement, the contact experienced several transmission issues. The contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle independently shifted in and out of gear without warning. Also, while in reverse, the vehicle coasted and jerked upon slight depression of the accelerator pedal. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 126,300.*dt
After a short trip, 5 miles, i was backing into my driveway when i noticed some fluids on the cement.i checked the liquid and was not sure if it was coolant or transmission fluids so i called my mechanic and he recommended that i should have it towed in .it turns out that the problem was that a connector at the bottom of the radiator cracked and was mixing the coolant with the transmission fluid ,it appears that a defective fitting was the problem. It cost me $977.3 to replace the radiator and flush the transmission.my mechanic said if i would have continued driving with these 2 fluids mixing i would have damaged the transmission beyond repair for a bill of $3,000. More if this is a common problem on these cars people should at least be notified what to watch for or better yet repaired by the company.
As i was driving the van, i noticed a smell like burning rubber, although all gauges were normal and no check engine light was on.since i was close to home, i pulled into the garage and noticed smoke coming from under the hood and a trail of oil on the drive way.within a few minutes, there was a large puddle of oil under the vehicle as well.i had it towed to the mechanic and was told the oil cooler hose had broken.the mechanic said if i had driven it to the shop, i likely would have ruined the engine because the oil loss was so significant (out of 5 quarts, only .25 was remaining). The mechanic also said that toyota was aware of this issue but did not issue a recall, even though the replacement hoses are now steel and not rubber.this is a safety issue as the engine could have seized up while running (due to the quick loss of oil) causing potentially serious accident and injury.
I had a catastrophic loss of oil from the underneath of the car, there was a recall on this problem which was fixed back in 2011 but almost every one online that has had this fix has to get it done again. Toyota are not seeking the fix the problem again with a metal hose and we are having to pay for the replacement. The rubber part of the vvt-i oil line appears to worn and leaking. There is a toyota campaign to replace this faulty designed oil line with a full metal line, but for some reason my 2007 toyota sienna vin is not showing up with this campaign. The oil will leak from the engine and cause failure.please re-check which vehicles are impacted by this toyota design problem in this vvt-i oil line.
Driving my kids to school, which is 3 miles away, and i suddenly smell smoke.when i was coming back, i suddenly here a noise.all of a sudden, the vehicle stops.ihad to hire a wrecker to bring it to my house. Once the vehicle was at my house, i triedto find whatthe cause of the noise was and when looking under the vehicle, i notice the oil had come out from somewhere. I opened the hood of the vehicle to check for the oil and it was empty. About a month ago, the dealer made the oil service.i wonder what happened.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While approaching a stop, the contact noticed steam rising from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact looked under the hood and noticed that the engine was covered in oil and there was a puddle of oil on the ground. The dealer replaced the oil feed line, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 109,464.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving 60 mph, the contact noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over to a nearby fuel station. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine oil cooling hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While driving 25 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn left or right without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the drive belts in the tensioning system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that they extended a warranty, but would not pay for the repair. The failure mileage was 100,600.
I was told today that my cooler hose ruptured and i had to take it immediately to a auto repair shop.i was driving to work and the car started making a clicking noise and felt weird to drive.i got to work and was told to check the dip stick.was told it sounded like i had no oil.i was thinking, that wouldn't be right i just got an oil change about a week earlier.it was bare.completely empty.i then proceeded to get it to a repair shop as it was an emergency.the auto place told me that it needed a kit that they would have to buy to replace the cooler hose and would take awhile to fix this.it would be the only way to fix this.and they cant guarantee me the engine didnt get effected by this situation.i did my research on this issue and it is extremely dangerous and expensive.i am now out $500 and half a day at work.i was driving to work at 7:15am on highway 44 going about 45-55 miles an hour.it was terrifying and once i got to my work and realized that my van could have stopped on me in the middle of traffic whenever it wanted to this morning or the engine could have blown up and cause a real accident.this is a serious danger to me and people around me.i had no clue i was in danger, i had no idea that my van was messed up.there were no signs, no problems, no anything.it just out of nowhere drained the oil. I drive 35-45 miles to work.i wish i would have known about a "recall" on this.i wouldn't have had it checked way before.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the technician stated that the baffle on the valve cover was fractured, causing damage to the engine. As a result, the engine would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and returned to the dealer as a trade-in. The approximate failure mileage was 27,646.updated 01/07/14 *ljupdated 1/17/2014
With no warning at all the engine cooling lines just ruptured in my drive way spilling oil all over the front of my house on the concrete and i have seen people on line with less mileage then my 07 sienna xlehaving the similar problem something about cheap rubber was used to make these lines there is even a you tube video on this matter .. This a safety concern glad it happen in front of my house instead of on the road with my family on board .
2007 toyota sienna oil cooler line line has a pinhole leak never indicates that there is no oil or low oil pressure
Oil cooling hose ruptured while driving the car at approx. 60 mph on the highway.black smoke began to pour out the back of the car.oil sprayed over the engine and underside of the car and rendered the car undrivable.damage also sustained to the drive belt tensioner system.
Oil line ruptured due to rubber failure. This oil line was replaced in 2012 with same line as originally installed.failure can be catastrophic for engine as oil is discharged quickly and with no warning or indication. Vehiclewas in motion on a highway when odor and noise made me stop and check. Had to be towed and repaired.cost over 500.00.
The front lower oil cooler pressure hose (toyota part no. 15767 31010) started spraying oil out while the van was being driven under normal operating conditions in a residential neighborhood with young children in the car. Had this occurred at a higher speed (on a highway), all the oil would have sprayed out and the engine would have seized. This could have caused an accident or the van could have caught on fire. This is a well known problem with this part that toyota has done almost nothing to fix or prevent. We were extremely fortunate to have discovered this problem immediately.
I believe the product to be defective because of the issue that i had faced with this vehicle 2 weeks back while driving in the freeway. Two weeks back while i was driving with my family (wife and 2 kids) the vehicle on 275 s freeway @ 70mph on 8th march 2015 1:00 am, the engine check light turned on and i noticed the engine heat indicator fluctuate like a fuel indicator. I tried to slow down, but by that time i lost the power of the vehicle , which made it really hard for me to steer the vehicle between the lanes and take it out of freeway to a shoulder, the brakes were not functioning either. It was one of my scariest ride i had in my life (you can imagine yourself, engine loosing power while driving in a freeway, i was with my entire family, and not having control on the vehicle), it put me and my family at such a big risk. Glad i was able to some how take the vehicle out of the freeway and used the parking brake to bring the vehicle to a stop at a freeway shoulder @ 8 mile road exit.the next day, i took the vehicle to victory toyota of canton, a toyota dealer for diagnosis. After thorough diagnosis from the dealer, he figured out the engine water pump failed, which lead to the engine getting overheated and engine got damaged, which needs to be replaced. They came back with the cost of 10,000 usd for fixing the vehicle. The vehicle has only 66,860 miles on the odometer.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while having the oil changed, the mechanic stated that the vvti oil pressure line was leaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the oil pressure line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Toyota sienna 07 to 13 has oil cooler hose leakage problem, cause it made of rubber and aluminum, rubber part of this cause leakage, because engine oil goes from it with pressure and after some time rubber part goes bad and start leaking when you start the van it comes out,it happens with me twice, first my 07 sienna has happens i buy a used pipe from junk yard and fix it,after fifteen twenty days it happens again, all of a sudden on a free way my van heat up in left lane and stop engine,i almost got killed for this sudden stop, van has no oil left in engine and it heats up,i pull my van asside and find out that engine oil cooler pipe is off the hook and i am out of engine oil,how i come back its a different story, but when i call toyota dealer ship for recall they told me this is not a safety reason so l have to fix it myself,my question is that for there cheap material pipes i can got killed,my engine can go bad,but this is not a safety issue for them, can some one help me.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna.the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact checked the oil level and noticed it was low on oil.the contact added oil and the vehicle would not restart.the vehicle was towed to a dealer, who stated that the engine needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 127,000.
Driving 55mph on frwy, van started smoking in the rear and oil on back of van. Slowly drove short distance home and lights on dash came on upon arriving home. Oil leaked on street where we parked. Had mobile mechanic look at it. Oil cooler hose had burst.he replaced it, we drove the van 50 miles on short trips.when on frwy, it happened again about 3 wks later. Had towed home. Same hose busted again. Looked on internet sites & found same problem has occurred to many people with same van year. Longterm ongoing problem. Called tejas toyota in humble, tx and svc mgr said toyota offered an extended warranty (knew there was a problem), but it ended at 100,000 miles/10yrs (we have 120, 900) and is 2007 van.we've already had it towed and fixed twice.we're recovering from near death/covid afraid to drive it since we can't trust it. Based on internet stories by others with same problem, & svc mgr at toyota opinion, fear is warranted. Our van was repaired 2x w/ same type of inferior hose put on van when built by a mechanic not at toyota. None of us realized inferior part was the problem.now we need to repair it again with a "kit" that toyota specifically made because this is known problem after we spent many 100s of $s repairing it using same type part when built. Wouldn't fix it when i called in 2015. It had to break 1st per toyota when i checked on it in 2015 when got notice.toyota should repair it at no cost & reimburse me for the expenses i've already had. My husband had covid and almost died and it happened the day after he was released from a month long covid hospital stay and again when i was taking him to therapy for covid 3 wks later. We could have had a accident, been injured, when the van stops with no notice or warning lights.toyota corp. Takes no responsibility.it's our problem, not theirs. Can't drive van. Will happen again w/out warning. Help please!!!
On 4/10/15, i took the vehicle to motor imports service center for prearranged warranty service work on the vehicle.motor imports declined to perform the warranty work, alleging that the vehicle was "too dirty" to perform, even though at least two of the recalls would involve no area of the interior.with respect to the interior, the shift assembly was allegedly "blocked" by a newspaper on the console, as well as pens in the ashtray and cd's in the console, and for this, they claimed they could not perform the work.in addition to the above recalls, they were to inspect the dashboard for a fourth recall involving premature degradation of the assembly, which they declined to perform as well.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving 25 mph, there was an abnormal grinding noise and a burning odor in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (burnsville toyota, 14790 buck hill rd, burnsville, mn 55306) where it was diagnosed that the oil coolant line needed to be replaced and there may be engine damage. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under a recall or warranty. The failure mileage was 121,766.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for unrelated repairs when the mechanic stated that the motor mount bracket was fractured and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
Driving on the freeway @ 85mph when the check engine light came on.promptly, i pulled the toyota manual which said could be faulty gas cap and may go off with consecutive drives once fixed or if it stays on after to go to dealer.the car was running fine so i headed to my exit to pull over. Shortly, thereafter a horrible diesel engine grinding noise.i had just had my tires rotated (replaced just one month prior) that weekend and the oil changed the weekend before.as i was about to pull over the engine oil light flashed.when i pulled over i immediately checked the oil stick drywe had been given the run around about the part by mossy nissan that the part was on backorder and was part of the recall.the vehicle was later towed to toyota of poway and for $500+ to inspect and replace this hose(not part of recall)wanted another $3000 to tear down the engine and the addl charges to fixi have religiously had my oil changed and have always had my toyota certified mechanic work on my car.i contacted toyota consumer service for assistance in fixing the problems they indicated they would not help since the hoses were not part of the recall.the hoses are 2 rubber hoses that have clamps leading to a triangular metal piece.the hole was not in a location that something could have pierced according to my independent mechanic who tried to get the part from the first dealer....which leads to the fact that these are faulty hoses that deteriorated.toyota has offered a goodwill payment of $750 towards a new or used certified toyota car.but that is at a 20% interest rate.it is my hope that others will see this and get this fixed before they end up like me single mom of 4 without a car working 5 days a week 150 miles from my babies and can't even go home to see them till the weekend.a big thank you toyota.i have paid $800 out of pocket.
I was driving back from this weekend on a highway and i noticed a thumping noise coming from the front of the vehicle and then i noticed an engine light came on and instinctively i knew that was a bad sign for all six of us my family and friends. So i immediately exited the nearest exit ramp and that's when the engine stalled and i couldn't move any longer. We called our insurance company for towing and the cops to steer clear of oncoming traffic since we're on the second lane on the exit ramp. I thank god that nothing happened to us but it shouldn't happen to my vehicle with only 93,000 miles with regular maintenance and a clean driving record.
The oil pump assembly failed.it was partially made with a rubber hose that did not perform as it should.it needed to be replaced with a solid metal part.although there was a safety/service bulletin listed by toyota on this part it cost almost $1200 to repair.
Driving car in town for about 10 minutes. Stopped at friends house and noticed when i backed out a large oil puddle. Got out and looked under car to see undercarriage covered in oil from front of car to midway down car. Could not tell where it was coming from so i called tow truck to take to toyota dealership. They found small hole in oil cooler line was spraying oil out. It was half empty of all its oil in that short amount of time. The dealership told me it was going to cost me $360.00 to replace oil cooler lines. I was very lucky i had not driven very far or probably would have been catastrophic engine failure. After quick check on internet, this appears to be a common issue with oil supply lines in this and other model years. Also looks like there is a new all metal oil supply line and a warranty extension (ze2), neither of which i was made aware of by my dealership and was very difficult for me to find.
Engine/powertrain hesitates for 1-3 seconds when accelerating slowly, or accelerating quickly after slowing down such as when slowing down in an intersection, making a turn, or in slow traffic.engine has piston slap for 3-5 minutes after a cold start in weather below 40 f. The slap becomes louder with colder temps.shifting into gear with a cold engine can cause the vehicle to lurch due to high idle. Driver must have foot firmly on brake before shifting into gear. Problem diminishes if engine is allowed to warm for 45-60 seconds.when parking, the driver must keep the brake fully depressed, shift into park, pause 1-2 seconds before releasing brake. It seems there is a brief delay between gear lever being placed into park, and powertrain actually going into neural/park position. Releasing the brake too soon will allow vehicle to roll ahead 3-6 inches.
Failure of a defective rubber oil cooler hose occurred at app. 5:30 pm on 2/11/2013 while the sienna was being driven on a city street.the vehicle rapidly lost most of its oil, and incurred significant and very costly engine damage (resulting in the need for replacement of the engine short-block, plus other collateral engine repairs that the toyota dealership and toyota engineering eventually determined necessary).see toyota technical service bulletin t-sb-0201, dated 12/21/2011.the oil "seepage" term used by toyota in this tsb is a complete misnomer, as the oil loss was rapid and resulted in oil spraying profusely under the front of the vehicle.toyota had not previously communicated any information to its unsuspecting customer regarding this specific defective part.on 3/3/2011, the customer discovered through his own personal research the scope and magnitude of toyota's pervasive failure history with a very similar defective rubber oil supply hose.the defective rubber oil supply hose is the subject of a current multi-part limited service campaign (lsc) prior launched by toyota, however toyota is incredibly claiming to the customer that this lsc campaign (which is set to expire on 3/31/2013) does not cover the defective oil cooler hose.in the customer's opinion, toyota has demonstrated gross negligence in not including coverage of both defective rubber oil hose parts under the current lsc (or, not launching a separate lsc addressing the defective oil cooler hose).this defective rubber oil cooler hose could be described as a ticking time bomb for owners of affected toyota highlanders (2008 - 2011), highlander hvs (2011), siennas (2007 - 2011), and venzas (2009 - 2011).the customer is continuing interface with toyota, for toyota to accept full financial responsibility for all customer costs incurred in this matter.
I have had this van since new.air conditioning stopped working after 4 years with less than 60000 miles.first transmission problem started at 68000 miles.the transmission problem first reared its ugly head when i was backing out of a parking spot one early morning in november 2011.it sounded as though i had run over something.after getting out of the van and looking around it appeared as though everything looked good.i got back in the van and started to drive and could hear a rubbing sound coming from the front of the van and noticed it would slow down quicker when taking my foot off of the accelerator, so much so that your body would lean forward.also, i noticed the van would now slow down instead of picking up speed when coasting down a hill which is something it had never done before.i brought the van into my local toyota dealership that week to have it looked at but they said that was the way it was supposed to run.i told them 68 000 miles of driving experience since it was new has told me otherwise.they persisted with their "everything was as it should be" story and that it could be the brakes sticking occasionally.i even told them that the rubbing sound goes away when shifted into neutral which would eliminate the brakes as the cause.the vans transmission finally failed in february of 2013 at 82 000 miles after i had brought the issue up 4 times with my toyota dealership while getting other service completed, and yes they did change the transmission fluid before all of this happened.the transmission diagnosis and subsequent repair/rebuild quoted by the toyota dealership was $4000.mr. Transmission charged me $3100.like me, you have either already purchased a toyota product or are considering the purchase.all i can say is google transmission and problems and you'll find lots to read.good luck.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that a warning light on the instrument panel was illuminated but the contact could not recall what exact light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technicians advised that the computer would have to be replaced because the wires were damaged. The contact stated that the damage was due to mice entering the vehicle and chewing the wires. The vehicle was repaired.the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.updated 03/05/12*lj
On march 12. 2010 i was traveling to arches national park with four other passengers.on the way, we decided to stop by bryce canyon utah.i was driving a 2007 toyota sienna through 26 s. Main street bryce canyon city. Because of bad weather condition. I had put the car in gear 3 and was driving 5 miles per hour.suddenly i heard the engine accelerate and felt the car push forward.i let off the accelerator and cautiously pressed the brakes as hard as i could, but brakes did not respond and the car continuedforward about 150 feet.somehow i managed to turn right on center street and bumped onto the curb to be able to stop the car. After the car came to full stop, the engine sounded normal. Because of this incident, we changed our schedule and returned home.
2007 toyota sienna engine stopped, and failed to start within about 15 minutes afterwards at hot weather above 95f with air conditioning on.
I bought a second hand 2007 toyota sienna le in june 2009. The vehicle had about 49,000 km. I noticed that vehicle had produced unusual noise when started at cold. It sounded like diesel engine. I took a vehicle in to a toyota dealer and they attempted to correct the problem. Apparently, there is a tsb issued on this problem. Although i appreciate the dealer's honest effort in correcting the problem, the noise is still there when engine is started at cold.
2007 toyota sienna made a pinging sound when first starting the vehicle. Consumer states that the dealer stated that this is normal when the engine was cold. Dealer called it a piston slap. Finally dealer stated the vehicle had a problem.
I have a 2007 toyota sienna. When the engine is cold and started i get a noise that sounds like a lifter problem. Although the weather will effect the intensity and duration of this noise it is always there. The toyota dealership i took it to had a factory engineer come out and he heard the noise and said it was normal and attributed it to "piston-slap". At this time they are telling me there is no repair for this condition. They acknowledge there is a noise but they say they can do nothing about it. This noise developed approximately around 20,000 miles on the vehicle. Other sienna's that acquaintances own do not have this problem. Some mornings when it is cold out the noise is so loud it turns heads as i drive down the street. Evidently this is a problem that toyota knows about but refuses to fix.
Purchase a 2007 toyota sienna minivan in december 2007 with almost 20,000 mile in it.after purchase notice that when engine is cold it sounds like a diesel engine until it warms up.also notice what feels like a slip in the transmission in lower gear.this happens if following behind someone and they turn u need to slow down.when u accelerate to get back up to speed there is a delay or a slip before transmission engages, complained with the local dealer (andy mohr toyota) where purchase from.we have complained since day one of ownership.toyota dealership states that the vehicle has a memory transmission and learns your driving habits. Well me and my wife don't drive the same and neither does anyone else.no people drive the same and why would someone make a vehicle like this. They also stated that there is no fix at this time.just trying to blow me off.as for the engine slap when cold they told me it was the exhaust heating up.now i am no mechanic but let me tell you that is not an exhaust clapping up while heating.called toyota usa and file a complaint after a year being pissed at what we spent and how unhappy we were.they set up a third party arbitration and a person from toyota.we met at the dealership and i voiced my concerns.we even went on a test drive so i could show them what it did.what a joke that was.the person from toyota explained to me the vehicle was doing exactly what it should be doing.( the delay in the transmission to me seems to be another toyota problem that they don't want to acknowledge and im just crazy.)i have never owned a vehicle that did this.i guess we will need for some people to get rearended and killed before something is done about it.nothing came out of it and now we are stuck with this expensive van that's a heap.purchased toyota for there reputation and what a joke.never again will i do this.i will sure research before i purchase my next vehicle.toyota's a joke don't buy!!
My brand new toyota sienna has produced hum noise at around 2500 rpm as soon as i pickup the new van.i have the dealer and the regional reps looked at and they found the noise and they also told me that all the toyota with the same engine have the same problem. I was told they will not fix it.i filed multiple complaints with toyota but received the same result!i like to know if you can do anything about it.thanks!*updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that exhaust fumes were emitted into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 40,000. The vin was not available.
Catalytic converter emits strong sulfur odor into passenger compartment.the smell made my family sick with headaches.toyota reps told me to note what gas station i go to and it may take multiple visits to fix since no one else reported similar problems.
2007 toyota sienna.consumer writes in regards to loss of rear view monitor/ camera when vehicle battery dies.the consumer stated she could not find a sentence or a paragraph in the owner's manual, explaining how to recover the loss of the rear view monitor/camera after the battery died. The dealer informed the consumer, the navigation system would have to be sent to california. The consumer ordered a map dvd through an independent vehicle repair garage and had it loaded and that reactivated the rear view camera, cd player and radio.
My complaint involves the toyota sienna minivan (mine is a 2007). I believe toyota is aware of a defect in the rear ac lines which causes them to prematurely corrode near the rear axle. This causes a release of the refrigerant into the atmosphere and mandates the lines be replaced by the owner at a cost of app. $1200. My vehicle was purchased new in may 2007 and has 45k miles- no accidents, always properly maintained. This van was recently recalled for excess corrosion in the spare tire carrier which causes the spare tire to fall out. The following is a quote from their press release: the recall includes certain 1998 through 2010 model year sienna2wd vehicles equipped with a spare tire and operated in cold climate areas with high road salt use. In addition to the district of columbia, vehicles currently registered in the following cold climate states with high road salt usage are covered by this recall: connecticut, delaware, illinois, indianna, kentucky, massachusetts, maryland, maine, michigan, minnesota, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, virginia, vermont, wisconsin and west virginia. The corrosion resistance of the spare tire carrier in insufficient when vehicles are operated in areas where a large amount of road salt is applied. In the worst case, the carrier cable may fail and the spare tire could become separated from the vehicle...the dealership service rep stated to me that he sees this failure very often, and the parts dept. Keeps the parts in stock due to frequency of replacement. The replacement parts have not be improved and carry the same part #. I called toyota's customer care line and was told they would not provide any assistance. Please search online for others with the same problem- there are many.r134a refrigerant leaking into the atmosphere is a severe environmental problem and toyota should be held responsible for repairs and costs to consumers.
The installed dvd navigation system in our sienna has failed.this in it's self is not a safety concern, but it's failure has also caused the back-up camera to become inoperative.we use this extensively and the sudden loss of it is almost as bad as loosing all your rear view mirrors.
2007 toyota sienna.low beam headlamps continue to burn out.drivers side 2 times since december 2009.passenger side 4 times since december 2009.
Airbag light on all the time
I have a toyota sienna and i have had my foot stuck on the accelerator at least three times causing a surge.a pair of diabetic shoes issued by the va was the cause. They were tennis type shoes with a deep tread. I discarded the shoes in case i had to drive with them on. I was able to pull loose each time and get to the brake.i wonder if the va should be warned. Also wonder if other toyota problems involve shoe type.
I was pulling up into my garage driveway, and applied the brake and then without any kind of warning my toyota 2007 sienna started accelerating and i couldn't stop it, even though i was pressing on the brake as hard as i could. It ran through my garage door and took off half of the garage housing on the left side, and then it rammed into the wall separating the garage from the house. Out of desperation i shifted from drive to park and that finally stopped the van. So far we are awaiting an investigation, in the meantime though our lives are in limbo because of this.
My 2007 toyota sienna has an average mpg readout.i reset the readout when i refill the fuel tank.when i have about 177 miles on the tank, the mpg reading instantaneously drops about .3 or .4 mpg.i reported this problem to the mark miller toyota dealership and they had no interest in it and refused to pursue the issue.this problem is highly repeatable and occurs each time the above sequence occurs.i report this because on the news a couple of days ago, the toyota ceo reported that they had no reported computer errors on their products.i had reported what i suspect to be a computer error and toyota didn't appear to record the report.
While driving on the highway at 70 mph, vehicle lost power.no response when throttle was pressed.shifted vehicle to neutral and tried to restart vehicle with no response.pulled to side of road and noticed a heavy gasoline smell.tried to restart vehicle, looked under vehicle and noticed gasoline pouring out from the front driver side underneath the vehicle engine compartment.shut vehicle off and removed family from vehicle.called towing company, vehicle was towed to mark hipps garage and towing service in newberry, sc.examination of vehicle noted that a fitting on the fuel line going to the engine had come loose.technician refitted and tightened connection.contacted greenville toyota service center in greenville, sc.they stated there were no recalls on this type of failure.
Rack and pinion bellows on the passenger side torn due to coming into contact with the adjacent fuel/vapor line; (observed while changing the tire.).bellows rubs against the fuel/vapor line when vehicle turns left.vehicle serviced regularly by the delivering dealer; defect not reported to me.
Dash board cracking.
I was northbound on interstate 15 in utah and noticed smoke coming out from underneath my car.i pulled into a firestone service center where they diagnosed the issue to be a faulty oil cooler hose assembly on my 2007 toyota sienna mini-van.i contacted toyota dealer who said that the part had been upgraded from a rubber hose to a metal hose that would not burst like mine had.i was not informed of the option to upgrade prior to this incident and in fact had had my car into the dealer for an oil change the week before this incident.firestone said i was down to two quarts of oil remaining in the oil pan.i feel lucky that i did not burn up my engine by stopping before the oil pan ran dry.also, i am lucky that i was driving and not my wife with a car full of kids as there seemed to be a risk of a car fire based on the smoke.i am wondering now just how safe and reliable my car is and what other problems toyota is aware of that they have not yet told me about on my year make and model.by the way it kind of ruined the family vacation we were just starting.
Dash board lights illuminating the vehicle's speed. Turns off when the lights are turned on. This is a safety hazard.while driving at night the speedometer is not visible.also the radio is not visible. We plan taking car in next week.
Passenger side automatic door not opening with any of the buttons on the inside of vehicle. But itwill open from the outside, by pulling on the handle.potential safety hazard of not being able to exit vehicle in during an emergency. Difficult for young children to open door manually. We took it to wilson toyota.the diagnosed a $50.00 part.$90.00/ hr rate.the part was ordered, then scheduled for repair. Theactually chargewas 696.08 . They decided to change everything, to cover theirliability no doubt.numerous failures of doors in you tube and edmunds .com forums.i suggest toyota take responsibility and do a re-call and fix this potential safety issue.56206 miles 2007 toyota sienna le. *ln
Toyota has created a hazardous and dangerous situation by not completing a recall. They have removed the spare tire from the bottom of my minivan during a aoe recall, and placed it unsecured in the back of the car. This will now become a deadly "missile" in case of an accident or any maneuver at speed. The recall will not be completed until the end of august (as per toyota). This is another example of toyota's disregard for safety and inability to resolve design problems.
My incident is a recurring nightmare.driver's side automatic door is not latching properly.while going down the road at 50mph the door, without any warning, flew open and would not close.i had to drive with my arm behind me holding the door closed until i got home.it took my husband 2 hours to finally get the door closed.this has also happened on the passenger side door.that was fixed to a tune of $3000.00.wheni spoke to toyota they apologized, and assured me that they would look into the matter.something should be done before someone is seriously injured or killed by their product.
Back sliding doors on passenger and drivers side of my sienna 2007, do not open or close correctly. This has been occurring since approx august of 2009.i drive school students for a living and could not do my job today because of this incident, once again.if the doors are on automatic the drivers side slider will not close.when automatic is taken off, you still can't close it without my husband doing whatever it is that he does, only for it to happen again.the passenger side is a problem on a daily basis, when you try to open from outside, you can't, it has to be done by the automatic button.now my saftey concern is that the driver's side door does not latch and the door remains open.
The handle (hatch opening mechanism) on our 2007 toyota sienna deteriorated/melted last year and only works intermittently. It is very difficult to open / engage, leaves black residue on your hands in the hot conditions (e.g. Summer) and does not work well in cold conditions (e.g. Winter).
The sliding door for our 2007 toyota sienna on the passanger side does not latch properly.this leads to the possibility of it opening while driving and someone falling out.
My 2007 toyota sienna xle with only 14,000 miles having issues with the rear trunk. First time was with the trunk not responding to the remote and the dealership had to replace the sensor. Second was when i opened the trunk it would close suddenly because the rear hatch strut is defective and dealership would not replace it because it just pass the 3 year warranty.
Rear hatch did not stay open and fell on my wife's head and injured her.
Rear passenger automatic door will not open.in 2009, while the vehicle was under warranty, a similar problem occurred and the dealership replaced part # 69631-08020 (control, slide dr).when i discovered the new problem, my 3-year old son was in his car-seat on the passenger side, so i had to enter through the driver side rear door.i'm glad this was not an emergency situation, for had it been, my son's life could have been endangered.edmunds.com lists numerous instances of similar problems.clearly toyota needs to issue a recall on this crucial safety issue.
Premature failure of struts for automatic back hatch of 07 toyota sienna minivan prevents rear hatch from opening fully, causing users to hit head on hatch when trying to access rear of van. Vehicle had approx. 60k miles and less than 4 years old.repairs to replace struts cost $300; no guarantee they will not prematurely fail/wear out.
The handle on the hatch of our 2007 toyota sienna melted last year and only works off and on. It is very difficult to open, leaves black residue on your hand in the summer and freezes and won't work at all in the winter. Upon calling the dealership and toyota i was told there was no recall and this must be fixed at my cost due to warranty expiration.
I own a 2007 toyota sienna mini-van. The liftgate is openedby depressing a rubber covered button. The rubber has melted to a point that it is molten. Each time you touch the latch your fingers are turned black and it is extremely difficult to remove. I live in texas and we are experiencing very high temperatures. I have read many online accounts of other people having this problem and i think toyota should recall the affected vehicles. The area manager for toyota told me that the problem is occurring on other toyota models but there have been no recalls.this to me is a serious defect that the local dealership quoted me a cost of $350 to repair and replace with the same latch cover.why wouldi paythat much when i know it will self destruct next summer.
2007 toyota sienna.consumer writes in regards to vehicle dashboard and back door latch has become sticky/ melting.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the rear hatch handle was covered with a defective rubber that melted and fractured. The contact also stated that the driver side door made a loud popping noise when opened and closed. The dealer stated that the door handle needed to be replaced and the noise created by the driver side door was possibly due to defective welding. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 107,000. Updated 10/22/14
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna.the contact stated that the rubber door latch handle melted due to excessive heat during the summer.the contact had to cover the door handle with plastic in order to open the rear hatch.the contact also stated that during cold weather, the rear hatch could not be opened due to the melting door handle.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer advised that the door handle needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that there were numerous complaints online regarding the melting door handle for the year make and model vehicle.the failure mileage was 33,900. The vin was not available.
Occasionally and without warning, the automatic left passenger door will close as the person is getting in or out of the van. This has happened at least six times in the eight months we have had the van.it was taken to a toyota dealer service center on two occasions (different locations), but because the technician can not duplicate the problem, nothing was done. The computer shows no problem, but it has continued to date.
The back hatch of my 2004 toyota sienna xle minivan came down on me without any beep or notice when i was removing groceries out of the back.i went and got my husband who insisted that it would not close on me, that the safety feature would stop it from crushing me.i had him go out and try to open the hatch with the inside button and remove the groceries.i pressed the button, when the hatch opened, he got under the hatch and when it reached the top, it suddenly started to return back down.this time the warning beep did go off.when the hatch reached my husband, it did not stop and go back up.he had to physically hold it up as he got out of the way.since that day, the hatch will not longer stay in the up position even if you turn off the automatic feature.sometimes the hatch will not even reach the half way point before closing back down, when in the automatic feature is turned on.
Power back door on 2007 toyota sienna limited will open with remote but it will not close with either the remote or the front dash control. I cannot use my legs so it is very difficult for me to close the power back door.
The transmission started slipping and then went out completely, causing the van to be unable to move at all. This occurred on a public highway. The transmission required complete replacement at a cost of over $5000.00.
On mon 10/22/2012 at 11:15 am i experienced sudden uncontrolled acceleration driving my van. I was traveling on i-696e in detroit at a constant 70mph, then slowed to 45mph due to construction. As traffic cleared the construction, i pushed the accelerator pedal to pass a semi-truck. I felt the accelerator continue to depress, i completely pulled my foot off but the pedal did not come back nor did the vehicle slow down. Rather, it did just the opposite and continued to accelerate. I attempted to brake hard with no response--the vehicle did not slow down. Then i put the van in neutral to slow down the engine with no results, the van continued increasing 60+mph with no foot on accelerator. This is when i became extremely frightened. The vehicle was pulling from side to side. I looked down to see if there was any interference from the floor mat and none was seen. I tapped gas pedal - no response. Next i put van back in drive and braked --no response again. Then i downshifted to 4th, the engine did not slow, and further downshifted to 3rd gear. Finally, the engine responded and slowed. I used the gas pedal cautiously as i then shifted to 4th so that i could exit the freeway. I parked at my office & immediately called my husband first and explained what happened and i then immediately called the our toyota suburban dealer. They told me to bring it in for inspection. I was still shaking when i brought the vehicle in and extremely upset. After two inspections, they stated sudden acceleration was caused by the floor mat. Although this seems reasonable, it does not explain why brakes failed to overcome the engine, and shifting to neutral failed to disengage the transmission. The vehicle scares me to death. I do not know what to do next. I consider myself a serious witness as a registered nurse (rn/bsn) with 20 yr manual driving. Ref toyota case #[xxx] and #[xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Our sienna is a well maintained, low mileage (just over 66,000 miles) vehicle.as of august 30 of this year, the transmission planetary gears have totally failed, leaving the vehicle and us stranded over 100 miles from home.the estimate for a complete transmission rebuild from a reputable transmission specialty shop is $4500, which is much lower than the estimate of $6500 that our toyota dealer gave us to install a remanufactured transmission.based on the number of complaints i have read about on the internet, this particular transmission seems to have had significant problems with early failures around the 65,000 mile mark.this repair is on top of a $1000 repair just a month ago to replace both of the rear coil springs.both springs failed at the same time, with the bottom coil rusting through and failing at the bottom spring support.as a materials engineer myself, i believe this is a design or production issue with these springs, for both to fail in the exact same spot on the same coil at the exact same time.(and it is worth pointing out that this vehicle has spent its life in northern virginia, a place that does not have much snow, or extensive use of road salt.)also, just about a year ago, we had to have the steering rack replaced at the dealer's recommendation, which was another $1000 repair.so in a period of just over a month, this vehicle is going to have almost $6000 of repairs to it (not including the steering rack repair.)this is completely unacceptable for a low mileage vehicle, especially for a toyota, which are normally highly reliable.this vehicle has been maintained by a reputable local toyota dealer, so all of the records are available to you.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the transmission failed. The contact also stated that nhtsa campaign number 13v429000 (power train) repair was performed; however, the repair did not correct the failure. The contact also stated that the gear shift was in drive however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The driver attempted to shift from reverse to drive and was unable to release the gear shift. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who performed a diagnostic test that confirmed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 127,000.
Transmission had been hesitating at times, but mechanic couldn't find any problems.at 60,400 miles, the transmission died completely and we were stranded far from home.this occurred on a well-maintained vehicle.because it was over the 60 months/60,000 miles warranty, toyota offered no assistance.between towing and replacing transmission, it cost us $5900.even the mechanic was surprised by the failure at such low mileage, as toyota sienna is what he normally recommended to his customers looking for a reliable family vehicle.we were lucky no one in our family was injured, but we are extremely disappointed with toyota not standing by its product.in hindsight, i wish we had purchased the honda odyssey.
4 yr child was able to shift van into drive without ignititon key in starter. Was able to replicate the event 30 min later at home once. Will take van in to dealer for service.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle began to jerk and the transmission hesitated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 53,000.
At my 120,000 service, the toyota dealer technician reported a leaking front differential. He said it would take 16 hours to repair. The technician also mentioned that he had 3 toyota cars currently in the shop for the same thing. This seems beyond coincidental. Clearly, toyota has a problem with leaking seals. The difficulty to fix this problem translated into a bill of $1,404.60 plus $31.79 for a rental car. The bill may have been more: the car's rack and pinion was also leaking, so some of the labor was shared with that job. This amount seems extreme and either toyota has faulty seals or, if this is a "normal" wear and tear item at 120,000 miles, toyota has made it way too difficult to fix. Either way, this amount of expense is inordinate.
On 11/12/15, the radiator body around the lower transmission oil line fitting on the radiator cracked, allowing the fitting to break away from the radiator.this caused almost all of the transmission oil to be pumped into the right side of the engine compartment.the vehicle was being driven in heavy rain on rain soaked roads at 55mph on secondary roads when smoke was observed.when the vehicle was stopped heavy smoke was coming from under the hood and bottom of vehicle, but no fire started.no oil leak was observed before the incident (no oil on garage floor).leak happened suddenly after approximately 3 miles of driving.the vehicle odometer reading was 95,510.
Upon slowing down to turn a street corner the transmission slipped before it would go again.it seemed that it was between the slowing down and re-accelerating after the turn.this problem is well documented on google by many drivers.the dealers reprogram some computer and then declare it to be fixed when the same problem occurs again.toyota refuses to fix the problem which costs one about $3,000 to actually fix it by replacing the transmission.i bought the van as used.
Vehicle was parked on slight incline in driveway (not running).key was in ignition, but vehicle was not running and it was in the off position. Four year old child shifted vehicle out of park into neutral causing it to roll down a hill and impact several trees(no injuries). After the incident, we have found that the vehicle can occasionally be easily shifted out of park with no key in the ignition and without applying pressure to the brake pedal. Most of the time it functions as it supposed to (and won't let you take it out of park).
Car started having problems approx 55,000 miles, left me stranded on the side of the road twice.first time check engine light came on and started to stall.pulled off freeway, checked manual and it referenced electronic throttle control, shut off the car and restarted and was able to get on the road.check engine light came on again, checked code ignition coils, had to replace #6.another instance, car started to stall, check engine light flashed at me, pulled off the road. Was able to take it to dealer in which they stated they couldn't find a problem.now within days my car's transmission completely went out, current millage 65, 987.toyota will no absolutely nothing to assist because its "out of warranty". Absolutely unacceptable.
I was driving my husband to work, when we pulled into his work, all of a sudden i had smoke coming from under my hood. We shut the vehicle off, i had oil everywhere. We couldn't tell where the leak was. I had the vehicle towed home and then to elk grove toyota.well it turns out that the oil cooler line broke.this is a design flaw in 2007 to 2010 toyota sienna's.there are technicial service bulletins but no recalls.i had to rent a vehicle before i could even get it to a dealership. That bill was $365.this is my only vehicle.the first time ever buying a toyota.i researched for 4 months before i bought this vehicle.
Transmission slipping on 2007 toyota sienna van.when traveling at 6-8 mph the transmission will slip when the accelerator is depressed.the van will hesitate then suddenly lurch forward.the dealer says that this is normal and will not do anything to repair it.
2007 sienna, hesitates after re-accelerating between 5 to 10 mph. Acceleration pressed but car does not move for 1 or 2 second. Took to dealer 3 time and also talked to toyota hq (dealer did find problem but hq said not to put anything in report saying there is a problem) they just saying nothing can be done to car right now a.k.a no updates availablealso automatic transmission has lot of jerks when it switches gears...example: half stop at stop sign and it accelerates without depressing the pedal and rpm going up but car not moving until half way down to intersection.
Engine/transmission hesitation/non-responsiveness. This is particularly apparent when you lift off the throttle to go over a bump or turn. When you press the throttle after that, the throttle does not respond quickly like any of my other vehicles. This happens all the time.
The transmission was doing what felt like "neutral drops" at low speeds, where i would shift into drive, get the "clunk" that i normally associate with the transmission dropping into first, then depress the gas slightly to start moving.the problem is that the engine would rev suddenly, and then catch first, which as you know, causes a sudden lurch of the entire vehicle since the engine had been revving just before it caught.it would also occasionally just "lose" the gear while driving at low speeds.on 6/12/2010 the transmission went out on me while i was driving home (with my family) on the fwy (north 5) from legoland.i have to across 5 lanes to get to the shoulder.i got the van brand new on 3/28/2007 (w/only3 miles on the van) from carson toyota, ca...i paid $28000 w/package3 (out the door price)...as of 6/12/2010 the van has under 14,000miles.the toyota dealer replaced the transmission with no charge (still under powertrain warranty).transmissions aren't supposed to go out that quickly,it definitely seems to be a quality control issue.under 14,000 miles there has been no service due so it's not a matter of missing scheduled maintenance. This is obviously a very valid safety concern.
My 2007 toyota sienna accelerate on turns or when trying to stop.
On august 11, 2007,my family experienced a head on collision.we were driving a 2007 toyota sienna.my husband was driving and died at the scene.the investigation never found any reason for the cause of the accident.my husband crossed the center line while going round a slight curve.he was 47,poor weather was not issue.if the accelerator on the sienna malfunctioned and did not respond, that could definitely have been a factor.our van had less than 3000 miles on it.we purchased in may 11, 2007.the autopsy for my husband came back negative for any medical condition concern.please investigate our accident report and be sure the safety and reliability of sienna's is sound.updated 03/10/10updated ivoq 08/24/10 update 9/19/2011*cw
2007 toyota sienna: transmission temporarily fails to engage the correct gear after decelerating then re-accelerating resulting in a pause or hesitation before control is again regained. This occurs most frequently when slowing for turns at intersections or behind slowing traffic or attempting a lane change. Three service calls have been made on the vehicle which were recorded as a "bad ecu program". Service technicians "reprogrammed the ecu" to "reset adaptive memory and shift points" however there was no change in performance. It was suggested that this was a design problem which had been corrected in later model years. The potential consequences of the transmission's failure to immediately engage in the correct gear are the loss in ability to quickly accelerate out of a pending collision or to avoid slowing in the middle of an intersection and causing others to have collisions.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that whenever the gear shift was placedin park, the vehicle rolled forward. The dealer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls or related warranties; however, there was a piece that broke off the linkage where the gear box was located.the manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 63,000.
Driver side seatbelt stuck in shoulder retractor. It doesn't retract and stuck in the current position.
My three points seat belt does not rewind.the whole seat belt just hanging out.the driver actually can walk away without unseat belt.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while using the buckle for the seat belt, the seat belt would lock but failed to release with excessive force. As a result, it became difficult to exit the vehicle.the failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was undetermined. The technician released the seat belt however, did not replaced the seat belt. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Driver side seatbelt stuck in shoulder retractor, and now does not work at all
The driver side seat belt won't retract back to original position and is currently loose.the dealer is charging $48 to $90 to fix.the belt is folding when being pulled and stuck in that position currently.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While driving the vehicle at any speed the contact noticed that the rear window on the passenger sides blind spot was very small and made it difficult to see small cars. The failure was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the failure had occurred since the vehicle was purchased. The failure mileage was 51 and the current mileage was 30000.updated 09/28/10 the consumer also stated the rear seat were very high. Updated 10/01/10
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While the vehicle was parked on a slight incline without the key in the ignition, the contact heard an abnormal noise. The vehicle rolled down a hill and crashed into a house. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The original brakes (front) were replaced in 2010.after that i started getting noise when the brakes were applied.several visits i requested they replace the brake pads again.after a little time the noise returned.performance toyota in fairfield, ohio could not repair the brakes to stop the noise.i then went to tire discounters in hamilton, ohio.again after several visits the noise in the front brakes remained.i paid for service to the brakes.i paid for a lubricant to be placed on the brakes.again noise returned.again noise in rear brakes getting really bad now can?t hear the noise in the front anymore due to drown out by the rear.picked up daughters/friends from school, explained sorry for the noise i have it checked out they say nothing wrong with them.daughter says mom you think the sound is bad inside the van you should be outside when you drive up it is really bad.10/18/2014 returned to performance toyota in fairfield.i explained the above about my brakes and the noise still present on my van.i asked service writer if there was a recall on a the brakes issue.she said no there was no recall.and i see you have had brake issues since 2010.finally she stated you know we have had issues when the original factory brakes are replaced with ?after market brakes? there have been problems with noise on sienna?s/pathfinders you know larger vehicles, but not all of them just a few like yours.she stated due to cost they used after market brakes and only few have issues.

Takata recallthe problem hapend on 10/9/2016 whilei was driving to work sudenlly i lost control of my break completely i was so scared i don`t know what to do thanks god it hapend when my kids weren't with me in the car that timethanks god i didn't hit nobody cause it hapend when i just arrived to my work in parking loti found out that was the ( the shift cable ) its a scary problem imagine if it hapend in the middle of the hwy
While attempting to drive to work while on a parkway (with no shoulder to pull over on) suddenly there was a dragging feeling as if the parking brake was applied.i immediately pulled off at the nearest exit and pulled over, my brake pedal felt extremely hard like it was stuck down.i put the car in park and pulled the brake pedal up with my foot, then pushed down on it several times again, at this time it seemed fine but i decided not to go to work but drive directly to the toyota dealer which was not far from where i was.the problem continued and i again pulled over and repeated the "pulling up of the brake pedal at which time i smelled something burning, i then continued about a block and a half to the dealership service department.upon arrival that is when my dashboard lit up with several warning lights.after the service department diagnosed the problem of a bent bracket on my brake pedal assembly i did some research of my own and discovered that there was a factory recall of the 2011 toyota sienna's for the exact same problem (the part number 47110-08080).neither the dealership, toyota motor company or toyota extra care (the very expensive extended warranty that i purchased) wanted to take responsibility for the problem.i was told that the brake pads and rotors would not have been damaged if i did not excessively drive the vehicle, when i asked them what they considered excessive they could not answer.i explained to them that there was no shoulder on the parkway that i was traveling on, but i did exit at the first possible one and drove approximately 1 mile to the dealership/service department.i am extremely unhappy and quite honestly not comfortable with the vehicle and the toyota motor company itself. I hope that toyota will accept responsibility for this faulty part and take the proper measures to correct this very unsafe issue!
Absbrake antiblock system
I opened the rear door and it would not shut.i took it to a mechanic that sent me to a body shop who referred me to the dealer.the center assembly hinge needs to be replaced.the door closed but had a crack and today when made a left turn the door opened by itself.imagine if a child was in the back seat!!!
I was parked in the parking lot of my children's school.the car next to me needed to back out so i was moving my car forward a little to get out of their way.when i put the car in drive it started accelerating but my foot was on the brake.i turned the wheel to miss the block wall in front of me.the car had jumped the curb and was up in the landscape area.it was continuing to accelerate and i was pumping the brake and trying to not hit anything.i was trying to put it in neutral so that it would stop but by then the car was down in the other side of the parking lot and headed toward a three foot cliff.my youngest son was in the car and not buckled into his seat so i was panicking trying to get it to stop.i put it into park and it make a weird rattle noise and then stopped very suddenly.i looked down at my feet immediately to make sure that i was not accidentally pressing the gas but my foot was still on the brake.i was late to pick my children up from school thankfully, because 10 minutes earlier the parking lot would have been full of children.i towed my car into toyota and they are looking at it but said that my vehicle is not part of the recall.
I was parked on a hill. When i tapped the accelerator, the car took off at a rapid acceleration. I tried to brake to slow the car down...my brakes wouldn't work...my steering wheel started to lock. I finally forced the car into park put on the er brake and steered the car up a hill. The car jumped a curb and was headed for a house when it came to a stop. I was only a few feet from the front door. My car is a toyota sienna. The company and our local dealership told me that my car was not involved in the recall. My husband's toyota avalon was and the gas pedal was adjusted. He had to wait a few weeks for the replacement...and was not given a loaner car.
I have a 2007 toyota sienna with about 37,000 miles on it.we are the original owners of this van.i had the front brakes replaced last january 2009 at toyota and when i took it in for routine service in january 2010 i was told that i needed front brakes by toyota again.i talked to the toyota manager and he stated that it is typical for toyota siennas to need front brakes every 10-15 thousand miles.i've owned four different sized cars and trucks all different sizes and never had to change brakes this often.i took the van to another dealer to see if i needed new brakes and they showed me the pads and the left brake pad (driver side) is worn to needing a new pad while the right brake pad (passenger) still has about 10,000 miles on it.i'm having a hard time understanding why i need to replace front brakes every 10-15,000 miles when i bought this vehicle new.had i known that i was going to have to replace front brakes every year i wouldn't have purchased this van.i'm concerned that this is a safety issue and also don't understand why the left side brake would wear so much more than the right side.if this is normal and acceptable toyota owes it to sienna buyers to let them know prior to purchasing.
2007 toyota sienna van was in nate wade subaru..one of our stock units.we were servicing this vehicle for sale.we replaced brakes front and rear. The brakes had been bled.i started the vehicle put my foot on the brake to shift into reverse. When vehicle hit reverse the engine idle idled up higher than a normal high idle. The brake pedal became ineffective..i was pumping the pedal to try to get a pedal and the idle stayed up high.i had an accident in the dealership with vehicle due to the high idle.it backed across our shop and slammed into a hoist in the shop.it caused major damage to both the vehicle and to the shop.it cost me $500.00 towards a deductible and it cost the dealership $6500.00 to repair the vehicle and $1700.00 to repair the damage to the hoist.i realize that this vehicle is not on the list of affected vehicles, however it exhibited the same condition as those models be recalled.
I am not happy with the brakes on my 2007 toyota sienna at all. On a dry surface, absolutely no problems.but on snowy roads or wet surfaces, they are not functioning properly and at couple of occasions i was scared to death when the vehicle was not stopping.if i am coming from a dry road and try to stop at an intersection (even at 30-40 miles/hr), where the surface is wet, i think the abs comes into action. Then it makes some loud, rattling noise(the noise is similar to when a big truck tire rolls over a sheet of rock, the rock breaking into multiple pieces) and the car won't stop immediately. It takes a couple of seconds more to stop. On one occasion, i almost ran into the car infront of me.on another occasion, i was driving on a snowy road and was going at 30 mph in a 45mph zone and the traffic light turned yellow. I tried to stop but the car didn't stop until it went to the middle of the intersection.things i noticed is when i am going at 65 mph, i don't see any problems during normal braking. Also the workaround is as soon as you realize you have to stop, pumping the break repeatedly works.
Noticed a vibration starting on a 2007 toyota sienna xle.initially thought it to be tire related.upon investigation noticed the left rear wheel was too hot to touch.revealed that the brake assembly had seized and was causing the brakes to overheat (blue dick and cylinder).toyota claims they have seen this on many sienna's and they regularly lube the slides that mount the wheel cylinder.mine had not seen lube.brake pads on the remainder of the car were ~ 50%.i believe had i not found this, there would have been a fire (it was that hot). Now i'm stuck on my $ to pay almost $1000 for new brakes (opted to overhaul the other three to eliminate the same problem elsewhere).
My 2007 toyota sienna's brakes makes noise and at times it takes a few more seconds before it fully responses to me. Both when the car comes to a stop position the brakes makes noise and when from stop position goes to drive position; the brakes make noise. At times it is very irresponsive to when i brake. Also the car accelerates on turns and when backing up. I have taken my car to a toyota dealership several times before the recalls and they have said they are not sure where the noise comes from. They have replaced couple of parts but i still hear the noise.
My toyota minivan 07 slid on ice/snow into intersection twice this winter and up onto someones lawn today. It felt like the anti lock brakes were activated after i slid a bit, while on a curve, i lost complete control. I was going very slow foot, off hte pedal on a curve.
On january 19, 2009 my 2007 toyota sienna front rotors & brake pads failed round- trip from san francisco to orange county. Mileage read: 20,939; & again on 01-12-2010when mileage was 30,128. There were no warning lights, or notification by mechanic or service providers at regular maintenance checkups about wear or compromised rotors & pads. In advance of each incident. Maintenance had been regularly scheduled.on january 19, 2009 , brake rotors failed showing deeply scratches andwere fused with the pads.on january12, 2010 rotors required resurfacing but pads were ok.i contacted power toyota dealership in irvine,ca. Aboutthese concerns; their response indicated a design flaw as the pads are of made pf harder material than rotorsthus wearing rotors before pads and fusing the two metals together.i had several return callsfromtheir specialist ,amechanical engineer formerly with gm. No solutions were offered and no followup received after i inquired if the dealer would replace the manufacturer's pads with softer ones(aftermarket) as a test. It was made clear even if after-market pads were installed, they might not last more than 5-6 thousand miles.i have concerns that the brakes will fail again and cause potential injury and damage to me or passengers or to others; certainly damage also means replacement ofthe rotors even if the pads do not show wear. I am reporting this as aflaw in mechanical/product design and manufacture of the 2007 sienna; intentional oversight or not,it is a lack of mitigation for the brake system that poses a potentially hazard. I believe the sienna van, intended for family and light loads, poses abrake risk while driving and additional expense and worry about rotor/brake failure . It is contrary to the experiencei had with my earlier 300k toyota van (1985); my satisfaction with it led me to purchasethe 2007 sienna which i nowregret. I am asking toyota to replace the brake system orprovide a new model van.
My wife was pulling into a parking spot and went to hit the brakes and the vehicle and the brakes did not respond. She said that she attempted to hit the brakes again and they did not respond. The vehicle collided with a tree. Contacted toyota and had the vehicle inspected. They said it was fine and there was nothing they could do. I told them that this failure had left my wife with zero confidence in the vehicle and asked for help or suggestions with what to do with the vehicle. They said they had no suggestion. A passed inspection is all they needed to wash their hands of the situation. I sold the car to a local dealer. I wish there was a safer alternative. Written word cannot convey the anger i felt with toyota, nor the remorse with the thought that a family may have the same issue with the vehicle in the future. Bad situation all around.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna which was modified for disabled persons. While driving at an unknown speed, the driver applied the brakes and the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into another vehicle. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The driver was able to safely drive the vehicle home without the failure reoccurring. The contact stated that the brakes on the vehicle had always needed heavy pressure to brake properly. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to an authorized dealership. The brakes were repaired but the sudden acceleration problem was not addressed. The failure has not occurred since the vehicle was returned to the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000. The current mileage was approximately 20,000. The vin was unavailable.
Rear brakes wore out at 21k miles even though front brakes were fine. Dealer blamed it on corrosion even though the vehicle was only 15mos old and spent all winter in florida. The front brakes show no sign of wear or corrosion!. Dealer charged for pads and rotorswhich did not fix the problem.eventually replaced calipers which did fix the problem. I feel that the wearing out of only the rear brake pads is very unusual and was due to original manufacturer calipers. The end result (brake failure) was unanticipated and could have resulted in handling problems and an accident.
Contact has a 2007 toyota sienna.the contact stated the pedal is too small to place your foot on the brake properly and causes the vehicle to slip forward. The contact feels this is a safety issue. The failure mileage was 75and the current mileage was vehicle 50000. Updated 4/7/2010 the consumer stated when at a stop, the brake pedal would travel to the floor. The consumer stated the brake pedal seemed to be smaller.updated 06/14/10
The main spring that supported the entire front of the car just collapsed as i was about to park my car.thank god it did not happen while i was on the highway.although there was a safety/service bulletin listed by toyota on this part they would not cover the replacement cost of almost $1500.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While the vehicle was being serviced for an unrelated failure, the certified mechanic observed that oil was leaking from the power steering rack. The vehicle was diagnosed that the power steering rack and the axle boots failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated the steering wheel began to abnormally shake while driving at an unknown speed. She then attempted a turn and the power steering failed. The steering wheel became extremely stiff and difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the rack, pump and steering belt was replaced. The dealer also performed a steering flush. The manufacturer was contacted but would not provide any assistance. The current and failure mileages were approximately 45,000.
Right side seal of steering rack leaks and is a occurring problem on many sienna vans.seal may possibly be defective from manufacturer.if the leak is not detected early, then the power steering may fail and thus the vehicle would become very hard to control.
When i drive my car or make turns i hear a rubbing sound. My mechanic tells me that the wheel bearing hubs need to be replaced or the wheels will eventually fall off. Probably due from where and tare. I don't under why this would be an issue and why so soon on this car.
The steering wheel makes a ticking or clunking sound as it is turned back and forth or when a bump affects one of the front tires which naturally moves the steering wheel one way or the other. There also seems to be excessive "slop" in the steering wheel movement. Dealer has looked at it and said it is a faulty "intermediate steering shaft" and it needs to be replaced. This is a known toyota issue with other models (2004-2011?). There are two u-joints on the intermediate shaft. One or both of them is wearing out, causing the sound and excessive play. This is a design issue affecting the steering wheel of a motor vehicle. I thought i should record this complaint.
In winter when the temperature fall to 30 and when steering get a load squeaking noise and taken to the dealer (first winter)winter and they informed that it is not re-creatable. Many times the problemwas reported to the dealer and no action was taken because it is not re-creatable. After warranty period expired i was asked to change the steering fluid to fix it. I did not since it was not due to usage/handling the vehicle and it is due to fault in manufacture. Next year we were informed that it is a safety issue and i need to change the steering fluid. I mentioned to the dealer should inform the toyota head office on this but nothing was document nor it was followed up by the local dealer. I am leaning towards the warranty coverage rather the consumer to pay because steering fluids should perform as it supposed to and do the job it supposed to. Any failure due to steering fluid and any damage caused will be toyota responsibility. It is 11 years passed and will continue to drive and hoping this will be fixed at any point of time before the crash occurs due to failure of the steering fluid leakage. This vehicle is driven in frankfort ky.
Got oil change for 2007 sienna today and was told steering rack and pinion may need to be replaced because of leakage. I'm the first owner and the car has been maintained well since the first day. I don't understand what causes the leakage as the car has only 63174 miles as of today. It's unacceptable that the quality of the component is so bad.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact received a recall notice for recall 10v160000 (structure) and took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The dealer took the spare tire from underneath the vehicle, placed it inside the rear of the vehicle and tied it down with a bungee cord. The contact did not feel that the repair was adequate or that the bungee cord would hold the tire securely. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The vin was unavailable. The current mileage was approximately 32,000. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
I was pumping gas and my child inside the car hit the drivers side sliding door button to open the sliding door. The door is supposed to stop and not open when the gas cover is open. My sliding door failed to deactivate and the sliding door continued to automatically open smashing the gas pump inside the sliding door and the gas tank opening. All mean while fuel is pumping into the car. This bent the gas cover luckily didn't spark a fire due to friction. However now i have to slam the gas cover to get it to shut as some times doors now will not open automatically because the gas cover is not latched shut.once we bent the door as best we could back in place at least to allow it to latch back shut. The doors will automatically open and shut as they should. I have had this occur multiple times. This is a big safety risk especially if you are pumping gas when this happens.
Recall over a year ago to have cable holding spare tire replaced. Called dealer over three times, called toyota and ntsb,no one seems to care, but spare tire is not installed back in its proper place after a year.
At approximately 1500 on 16 mar 2010, i used the remote to open the power liftgate on my 2007 toyota sienna xle minivan.while loading a children's table, the liftgate started to close on its own.i tried to prevent the gate from closing as my two year old son was in the path of closure.i had to hold the gate open as much as i could and grab him and pull him down and away to prevent the door from shutting and possibly injuring him.in the process, i strained my back.the safety function of the power liftgate seemed to have stopped functioning as well.since the initial failure earlier today, the problem with the liftgate occurs whenever the power function is used to open the door.the liftgate opens and continues until the liftgate reaches its maximum opening then closes itself automatically.when the power function is disabled, the liftgate fails to remain. Open.i have not done any maintenance or replaced any parts nor have i contacted the toyota dealer service department in regard to this problem.i have read online that this problem is a common occurrence on toyota sienna minivans with multiple reports of injuries occurring.
The dashboard seems to be breaking down, melting and/or sticky to a degree it is now shiny and reflects lights back into the driver/passenger compartment on sunny days.this creates a glare making it difficult to see out when operating this van.at times, it becomes hard to see cars, stop lights and pedestrians.a local channel here in houston ran a story on this particular problem concerning dash boards that are breaking down and causing safety issues.thanks,
Occasionally, the driver's side automatic sliding door will close before it should. This has happened approximately 20 times in the last nine months (four times on 12/28/08). It has closed on my son, my mother, my granddaughter, my wife, and me.there is no pattern for when this will happen, so when we take it to the dealer for repair, they can not duplicate the problem. Therefore, they have not been able to correct the problem.
2007 toyota sienna.consumer writes in regards to local dealerships failure or unable to remedy vehicle defect even after three recall notifications.*mthe dealer and toyota refused to replace the spare tire. However, the dealer did replace the cable.

In approximately the summer of 2012 (i do not recall the exact date),toyota recalled the spare tire suspension cable, but did not have a repair at the time. I was inconvenienced for months with the spare tire in the back of my van. The repair was eventually completed, however, a recall for the repair was issued in the summer of 2014. The spare tire was removed and again placed in the back of my van. Toyota is now stating that there will be no repair available until the summer of 2015. This is completely unacceptable and not understandable. It is simply an attachment for the spare tire. An official complaint has been filed with toyota, as well. I need the space where the spare tire currently has to be, however, i do not feel safe without it in my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 10v160000 (structure); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. My spare tire fell off my vehicle while i was driving on i91 in vermont between exits 5 and 6 . The vehicle following me, whichwas being driven by my husband, struck the tire. It became lodged under his car damaging the air conditioning system. At the time of the incident we did not realize that it was the tire from my car. We pulled over to the shoulder we were able to dislodge the tire and continued on.after discussing what happened and inspecting the car did we realize that it was my spare. There was a recall for this completed by toyota in 2011. This is a very dangerous situation with these cars and were very fortunate that something worse did not occur. We reported it to toyota and are very disappointed in their response so far.

2007 toyota sienna. Consumer writes regarding spare tire recall *tgwthe consumer stated his wife took the vehicle to the dealer for the recall. However, when she brought the vehicle home, he noticed the spare tire had been placed in the rear part of the vehicle and secured with a strap. So, when the rear seat was placed in the stored position, the spare tire would be placed on top of the stored seats. The consumer stated the dealer never mentioned the condition of the carrier and never mentioned the tire would be placed in the rear of the vehicle. The consumer stated they completely altered the functionality of the vehicle without his consent and it also created a significant safety issue, which meant the tire was not properly secured in the cab of the vehicle. When the consumer called the dealership, he was informed the parts to properly fix the problem were not available.

Handle melted and became sticky on rear liftgate door of toyota sienna le, happened three years ago.
Dash board cracking.
The cable for opening the passenger-side sliding door failed.this creates a dangerous situation in that the door may not be secure or may open while the car is in motion
The rear sliding door latches fail.the door will not stay closed due to latch/locking mechanism failure.i had a dog in the back seat when door latch failed...luckily the dog did not fall out.if a person had an unsecured child in a rear seat they could very easily fall out!this has happened numerous times but the dealer told me the lock was not lubricated which was an outright lie because toyota has a service bulletin on it since october 2010. Toyota has refused to repair mine at their expense because my mileage is over 120,000 now...their dealer lied to me regarding the problem at 56,000 which was when i first reported it.

I opened the automatic liftgate to my 2007 toyota sienna and upon it reaching the fully open position at the top, it immediately dropped and started to close automatically, which may have caused me an injury if i hadn't quickly moved out of the way.every time i open the liftgate, whether i do it using my key fob, from the interior of the car, or by lifting the handle, the same thing happens causing risk of injury to me and my children.toyota refuses to acknowledge responsibility for this defect despite similar issues being reported with 2004 to 2006 toyota siennas, which ultimately resulted in the issuance of nhtsa campaign 08v244000.
The tailgate became very hard to open and then the handle melted.now i can hardly open the tailgate.
Power rear hatch will open normally, but will release when it reaches the top of it's travel, allowing the unit to come crashing down onto the unsuspecting owner while they are trying to retrieve items from the back of the vehicle.the trapped owner may try to fight off the hatch, but the drive motor continues to close until considerable resistance (i.e. Shoulder) is used to fend it off.
The rear hatch opener is made of some rubber composition that has melted away and will at times not even open rear hatch. Numerous online incidents reflect similar description of melted rubber that leaves fingers coated in hazardous material when attempting to open rear hatch.

Driver's side power sliding door failed, would not close (door continually re-opened itself instead of latching closed).after setting the doors to "manual," the same door would not open at all.with two infants, it became necessary to crawl over the infant seat installed in the passenger side rear captain's chair in order to reach the infant seat installed behind the driver's seat.the passenger side power sliding door is close to failure (the sheathing on the cable is frayed), which will mean neither of the rear doors will be functional. Very unsafe condition in case of accident or fire.toyota will not address this issue, and quotes a price of $3400 to repair.
The automatic closure on the rear sliding door does not close and lock the door in place. The sensor beeps but allows you to drive even though the door is not shut all the way and latched.

Rear lift gate fails after opening and closes on your head.no safety sensor and continues to crush you if you get stuck under it.
Passenger side power sliding door no longer works under power, must be operated manually, yet when closing the power system engages and helps with last few inches
Rubber coating on handle on rear door lift melted approximately 5 years ago...was actually oozing down. Leaves fingers with black gunk on them that is very difficult to wash off whenever opening this hatch. Notified dealer but was left with "tough luck" (in my words). Fl vehicle (hot almost year round).
Rear lift gate was in the open position. While i was standing underneath it, without warning it suddenly failed striking me in the head and pushing me into the rear bumper. Fortunately, other then a sore head for a few moments i was not injured. Had i not been standing under the lift gate at the time it would have closed on my three year old possibly causing severe injuries or killing her. Since the incident the problem has persisted. It will lift into the open position and remain open for a short (unpredictable) period of time then suddenly slam shut. Currently we have to have one person hold the lift gate open while loading or unloading the mini-van.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the dashboard had cracks causing a glare from the sun that impaired the contact's vision. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. I was parallel parking, backing into a parking space on a long bridge in a downtown/busy area. When i tapped the accelerator lightly to back up, my van suddenly lurched back (in reverse), accelerating so quickly i felt like i was in a rocket ship being lifted into the air. My wheel was turned in preparation for backing into the space. At a breakneck speed, my van accelerated in reverse, lurching up a large concrete step (all 4 tires), squealing erratically. Then it continued across a wide sidewalk/pedestrian area, the bumper hitting the bridge, immediately knocking about 20 feet of a concrete railing from the bridge into the river below. Luckily, my wheels basically bounced off the bottom portion of the bridge, which was secured by a large concrete block at the base of the bridge. This all happened in about 1 second... It didn't take long. The first thing i tried when this happened was hit the brakes. They didn't move. It was like they were locked. As my van bounced forward after it bounced off the concrete block, i was able to get it into park. I am lucky there were no pedestrians on the bridge, as they would have been crushed immediately by the concrete, and thrown into the river below. I'm also incredibly fortunate my van didn't continue in reverse, plunging itself, and me, into the river. It was a harrowing experience and two weeks later, i am still not quite past it. I am a safe driver and this is my first "real" accident in 25+ years of driving. My van is totaled.
The contact owns a2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the passenger side sliding door stopped opening automatically. The contact stated that the door either would not open or would open halfway. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The vin was not available. Rear manual sliding door lock failed....door will not stay closed.
The rubber pad under the switch that is used to open the liftgate on the back of the sienna has gone soft and tar like.if i grab a piece it pulls right off like chewing gum.the black star like substance gets on the hands/fingers too and is hard to wash off. This is a very common defect (not normal wear and tear).toyota won't recall and make it a warranty fix. The part# is 84840-08010 and msrp is $58.53 plus labor.
Power sliding door on driver side failed when i tried to open the door while the vehicle was parked.dealer charged$1100 to repair.toyota hasissued a warrant extension to cover this repair; however, the extension has an arbitrarily imposed mileage limitation.this is a design or material defect that can effect the safety of passengers.there should be a safety recall.
I just learned that there were many complaints in regards of multiple cracks on the vehicle dash.i confronted the dealer regarding the same they stated that i was in need of placing a complaint about it in way for them to consider the same and authorize a repair.the very same day i wanted to place the complaint and they stated that the same is in a "suspense status". I just went throughthe complaints here reported and noted it is a recurrent vehicle manufacturer damage. I believe if i, as owner, followed the instrucions of not using any conditioner or any abbrassive cleaner but a mild soap and water with a damp cloth, the dash is coming appart as it is. I also think this should be considered as a safety hazard because of being the dash where the airbags are stored, when deployed on an accident could cause also the the dash to crack and its pieces be a projectile object.
The rear hatch latch/opening mechanism is soft and gooey.the softening/melting began sometime last year and is getting worse.it makes it almost impossible to open by a child or weaker person.difficult to open for the regular guy.if there was some type of emergency the latch may or may not work.the melted handle also leaves a black tar-like gunk on hands in warm conditions.the van is never parked in the sun - always in the garage.the toyota dealership that services our van said they are seeing this and hearing complaints all the time.they want around $200 to replace.
Failure of power sliding door on driver side.unable to open or close door.manual use only and hard to open/close.had to replace door release motor and power slider door actuator at cost of $655.
I noticed cracks on dashboard at driver side. It crossed about 1/3 of the entire dashboard. It looks like someone has sliced them up with a knife.
The contact owns a2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the dashboard exhibited numerous cracks near the air vents. Additionally, a sticky substance covered the entire dashboard surface. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The failure mileage was unavailable.
I purchased this toyota brand new in late 2007 and it was delivered in early 2008. It was modified by braunability to be wheelchair accessible. This means the original floor was cut out and a new sub-floor was welded in its place to accommodate the wheelchair. I noticed a lot of premature rust on the exterior modified sub-floor in 2016 i contacted braunability with my concerns only to be dismissed by them because they claimed the van was out of warranty. I was proactive and took the van to a local braunability dealer where the van was originally purchased to sandblast the exterior underside and repair extensive rust damage and undercoated the repairs. This was done at my expense and i paid approximately $7k dollars. Well recently i had to make a repair on the interior of the van only to discover the floor in the inside was also rotting away due to rust. This rust is only occurring on the metal that braunability used in their modifications. I contacted braunability again to raise my concerns only to be dismissed again. They stuck to their out of warranty argument. This van has been maintain in a near new condition and all the original toyota parts are in near new appearance but the rust is only on braunability metal.i also know of 2 other customers who dealt with similar rust issue and had to total their vans due to damage beyond repair and their vans were still operational aside from rust damage. This rust was caught by me because i am very particular about maintenance of my van and know rust is cancer to cars. I never expected the rust to be in the interior as well on a 10 year old van with only 105k miles. This would not be an issue if braunability had taken responsibility for the inadequate metal work. I paid 40 thousand dollars for these modification to my 07 toyota sienna. They should not be rotting. This is a serious safety issue if left unchecked.
Left sliding failed to close properly.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated he heard a clicking noise whenever he opened or closed the rear driver's door. The contact examined the door and noticed that the door's bracket was cracked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer stated that they had to replace the doors. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there was nothing they could do to provide assistance because the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was 61,150.
The dashboard has become gooey and very shiny, reflecting the sun and causing an unsafe condition where visibility is impaired.
The concern is the defective rubber pad on the switch in the sienna?s rear liftgate.the rubber pad under the switch that is used to open the liftgate on the back of the sienna has gone soft and tar like.if i grab a piece it pulls right off like chewing gum.the black tar like substance gets on your hands too and is hard to wash off.the safety issue is cold weather, once it goes below 35 degree f the door handle switch will not allow the door to open.i the event of a crash you couldn't open the rear hatch to exit. This part is unmistakably defective.if the rubber just cracked i could see it as a wear item (like tires or wiper blades).apparently in us states with a warmer climate this melting latch defect is a very common problem - just search the internet.defective rear handle switch (part# 84840-08010).
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the dashboard had become severely cracked at the steering wheel area and expanded to the air bag area. 2004-2010 toyota sienna power sliding door cable warranty extension ztscable on my 2007 model broke and renders the passenger rear sliding door inoperable and is not fully closed. The condition happened while loading my 6 children into the vehicle, luckily my wife was able to close the door, which isn't fully secure in the closed position . The only operational passenger door is on driver side (street side), my children have to enter/exit vehicle on busy nyc street.i called toyota under the cable extension warranty however my vehicle is 9 months past the cutoff. I can not afford the repair bill that could exceed 2k.. After reading multiple posts on the toyota forum (https://www.toyoheadquarters.com/threads/2004-2010-toyota-sienna-power-sliding-door-cable-warranty-extension-zts.186/) this appears to be happening to multiple vehicles either outside of the warranty extension or their vin doesn't qualify them. I worry for the safety of my children since these cables can snap at anytime rending the door in the open position. If in an accident my passengers wouldn't be able to exit vehiclequickly. I feel toyota should cover the repair of their faulty safety equipment via a recall.
I learned of a recall for my car's dashboard. It is cracked. It is a 2007 that i bought from dick dyer toyota in columbia, sc in 2011. They now tell me the recall has expired. But this means they sold me a car without fixing a known recall issue. It was not cracked in 2011 but has been cracked since around 2015 or 2016. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow to fix three other recall issues. Also, a tire pressure sensor was broken when i bought the car but the dealership denied the problem. I have had it fixed on my own. Now another has malfunctioned so the tire pressure light is always on. I believe this is a safety issue. Also, the airbag light goes on and off all the time. I don't know to which airbag it pertains.
Toyota sienna 2007 back door handle melted.
After returning from a short drive the driver-side sliding door (not powered) will not open at all.the lock won't move to the locked position, and it appears to not be unlocked either.
Passenger side automatic sliding door actuator failed.power door buttons would not work to open door.door could only be opened manually.
Rear door latch handle became hot and melted. Used duct tape to cover handle. The handle stopped working in december. The door will not unlock.
Multiple times when the temperature gets below 60 degrees, the rear hatch door does not stay open, it will automatically close and has trapped myself as well as my husband and banged my son in the head.we are lucky no one was seriously injured and feel that this is a major safety issue.we would like to see a safety recall on this issue as soon as possible.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, and attempting to unlock the passenger's side sliding door, the door detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that the door came off of the track. The contact stated that the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed due to the door not being able to be securely latched. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While the vehicle wasparked, the contact noticed the safety feature on the automaticpassenger siding door would not function. The sliding door closed abruptly onto the upper arm of the passenger exiting the vehicle. Immediately, the automatic door mechanism was engagedand the door released open. The failure occurred on two different times. The passenger sustained minor injury to the upper arm area. The vehicle had not been repaired or diagnosed at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The vin was unavailable.
The sliding door for our 2007 toyota sienna on the passanger side does not latch properly.this leads to the possibility of it opening while driving and someone falling out.
I have a 2007 toyota sienna and the driver-side sliding door just fails to open. After checking the dealer, i was told thatthe repairs will cost around 1,200 dollars.
The handle (hatch opening mechanism) on our 2007 toyota sienna deteriorated/melted last year and only works intermittently. It is very difficult to open / engage, leaves black residue on your hands in the hot conditions (e.g. Summer) and does not work well in cold conditions (e.g. Winter).
The automatic sliding doors no longer work properly.
My sienna xle 07 was purchased new in jan of 07.less than 1 month i had a rubbing noise coming from the sliding door on the drivers side.i took the van in and they replaced the locks. In 1 week it was doing the same thing.i had my van in at least once a month the first year of ownership and they would do something and send me home and again the noise would get worse.they even brought in a rep from kansas city and he told me to just put baby powder on the door and it would be fixed. Right.then noise gets worse in the summer and will drive you crazy.i was told that no other sienna van had ever had this problem.i love my van, but the noise is horrible and i will never purchase anything else from toyota. We have owned 2 other toyotasand 1 lexus, but this is just a problem with the sienna.
The passenger sliding door will not close when the buttons on remote or dashboard is pressed.this could lead to a scenario where someone is trapped inside the vehicle and cannot get out.especially, like a small child.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the passenger's side sliding door latch failed to stay secure while the windows were opened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000. Updated 9/23/13
Toyota sienna 2007 back door handle melted.
The rear hatch rubber door handle melted due to heat during the summer. I had to cover the door handle with plastic in order to open the rear hatch. During cold weather, the rear hatch cannot be opened due to the melting door handle. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer advised that the door handle needed to be replaced at a pretty high cost. The vehicle was not repaired. I have read numerous complaints online regarding the melting door handle for the year make and model vehicle.
Left side rear mechanism broke. Cable snapped on the sliding door. Almost hit my child in the face.power sliding no longer operable must open manually which is very hard for a child.cost to repair is $2000.00 by the local toyota dealership.toyota did cover it under warranty after i called the toyota customer care number because it was just days after the 3 year warranty had expired.8/11right side rear mechanism broke (other door).cable snapped again.told we should not use door until repaired which we will be paying for this time.seems like these doors are poorly designed and dangerous when inoperable.
We had just returned from a trip, and picked up our sienna minivan at the parking lot.i opened the left side sliding door, put some luggage in the back seat, and then closed the door.the door slide closed but did not latch.i cycled the door again, and it still did not latch.i tried the right door and the same thing happened.we had to drive home with the warning beeping in our ears (this comes on if the car is in gear and the doors are not latched).the next morning we took the vehicle to our toyota dealer, and they said this is a very common problem, but our car was out of warranty, so they want $3700 to fix the doors.to us, this is a serious safety matter that the dealership admits is due to faulty parts -- they say they have seen a lot of this problem on siennas.a child could fall out in traffic, or a piece of luggage could become a hazard to other drivers.i would like to see toyota be compelled to cover this repair regardless of mileage -- they said the normal 36,000 mile warranty was extended to 120,000 miles for this problem, which they acknowledge as a defect, but that does not help the many toyota owners who keep their cars longer.your assistance is most appreciated.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact noticed that the manufacturer issued a customer support program regarding the sliding door connector being replaced due to power failure. The dealer stated that it was not a safety defect and the cable could not be replaced for free unless it was actually fractured. Afterwards, when the contact attempted to open the sliding door, the cable suddenly disconnected, snapped backwards, and injured the contact's child's face. The contact notified the dealer and was informed that they would repair the cable assembly for free, but would not be able to repair the other door because it had not fractured. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The rear hatch will close hard by itself on me or anyone else who is trying to load the back of the sienna. This has happened several time over the years.toyota fixed the problem at least twice, but the condition continues to occur.if i had a small child in my arms or my pet dog they would be injured as the hatch door closes on its own.the door alarm sounds and the hatch closes within a few seconds of opening it.it is difficult to override the automatic closing by keeping the hatch open by hand.it is almost impossible to use the hatch especially in the winter when the temperature is below 50 degrees.
My toyota sienna 2007 limited it fail its hatch door closes its own and it hit my head i'm afraid that by accident my kids might do the same, when they open the hatch door. I read about 2004-2006 recall and had toyota technical service bulletin march 14,2007 model 04-07 this regards the lift gate not properly working. On the 04-06 recall why not the 07 recall not included. While i got the same problem and the same parts that causes the problem.
Struts on the rear power lift gate have failed and rear gate will open and immediately start closing with no way to stop it.this occurs when using interior button or remote key fob.if opened manually, the gate slams closed with the potential for significant injury due to the force of the dropping gate.research indicates this was a problem with 2004-2006 models and struts were replaced free of charge.apparently the same struts were used on 2007 models, however the dealer would not warranty replacement.it took about 15 minutes for them to install two new struts for $362.00.the 2004-2006 recall is listed under nhtsa campaign # 08v244000.this is the exact issue i experienced.
Premature failure of struts for automatic back hatch of 07 toyota sienna limited awd minivan.all ofa sudden, in the last week, the rear hatchcannot open fully and sometimes just closes suddenly when it has gone just halfway up. Other times, it makes it up, but doesn't stay up and just slams back down right after reaching the apex.vehicle is 8 years old.
The rear liftgate fails to stay open and will close automatically very quickly. This can cause injury if persons using the rear luggage area cannot move out of the way before it closes.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact stated that the liftgate fell on him as he was loading items into the trunk of the vehicle. The contact moved out of the way as the liftgate proceeded to close independently without warning. The contact was unable to stop the liftgate from independently closing. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
I extended the rear hatch all the way open to unload the trunk, but surprisingly it did not remain open as it normally would. The rear power door lift struts failed, and the trunk came gently down on me. The door was very heavy to keep open with one arm while i finished unloading the trunk with the other. Over the course of the following days, the struts worsened and the door became very heavy and almost impossible to open. I then brought it to the toyota of bedford dealer for service, at a total repair cost of around $400.
The liftgate of my 2005 toyota sienna fell unexpectedly. There were no injuries or damage, but there could have been because my children were nearby while i was loading the car, and the weight of the rear gate made it slam closed violently.
- the contact has a 2004 toyota sienna.the contact stated that on february 18, 2007 while the vehicle was parked outside for two hours, in temperatures of 20 degrees fahrenheit. The contact opened the liftgate by remote, and proceeded to load a stroller and a few bags. The contact was under the liftgatefor about 30 under seconds, when suddenly without warning the liftgate began to close on its own, striking the contact on the head, the contact then began to push the liftgate with his back against it until themotor recognized there was an obstacle on the way of the liftgate and stopped closing the liftgate.the contact felt that the failure was due to a combination of the strut failing to stay open and the motor that closes the liftgate.the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 36868 miles.

The contact stated that while pressing the trunk release and putting her groceries in the vehicle, the trunk automatically released and she injured her nose while she attempted to move her head out of the way of the trunk lid. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the part was not available to repair the vehicle under nhtsa campaign number: 14v273000 (tires: temporary/emergency spare tire). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repairs. The failure mileage was unknown.
Front coil springs corroded badly, which caused them to brake.vehicle owned and operated in north east region of the united states.
Driver side coil spring broke 3/4 turn off the bottom, vehicle was still drivable - was replaced under warranty. One year later passenger side spring broke in same fashion - had to pay this time. In may 2013, replacement driver side spring broke again in same way. In all cases, examination of the break showed rusty vein in the middle of the coil wire.

Drivers side front coil spring broke while parked in the garage overnight. The bottom coil of the spring snapped off. Appears some of the spring coating was missing prior to the break.
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While traveling approximately 30 mph, there was a loud noise and a component fractured without warning. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road and, after inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger side coil spring fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the coil springs needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,700.
While having the rear tires replaced by an authorized dealer the contact was informed the rear axle was out of alignment, causing the rear tires to wear excessively. The rear axle was not repaired but the tires were replaced. The rear tires have since been replaced three times due to excessive tread wear. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 41,000. Updated 06/30/11*lj updated 2/29/12
The contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna.the contact received a recall notice for the rear suspension.he would like the manufacturer to authorize his local dealer to tow his vehicle to the service center to have the recall repair performed.the recall notice stated that the vehicle is unsafe to drive; therefore, the contact refuses to place himself and his employees in harm's way.there had been no failure to date.the recall number was unknown.the current mileage was 2,000.
2007 toyota sienna - excessive tire wear.i have 83,000 miles on my sienna.during that time, i have had to replace tires 5 times which averages about 17,000 miles per set of tires.i have voice my complaint to the local dealer and toyota corp and have been told that there is no solution to this problem.the local toyota service department stated this is common with sienna's and that they rarely see a vehicle with more than 20,000 miles on a set of tires.the tires will start to 'cup' at 10,000 miles regardless of frequency of rotation.the tire's wear rapidly on the inside tread wall and require very close monitoring.i have used top line models of tires like bridgeston, michelin and dunlop all with the same result.
While having service performed on my 2007 sienna this past summer, i was told by the service representative that the spare tire on my van needed to be removed because of a defective cable that would allow it to drop to the roadway from the underside of the van's frame.at that time i was told that a recall would soon be announced so that i would receive a replacement cable and could once again drive with a spare tire.it has been several months now since my spare tire was removed, and i have received no information whatsoever from toyota regarding this issue.i am frankly uncomfortable driving without a spare tire and consider this a personal safety issue.

The tire pressure warning system doesn't work.
I have a 2007 toyota sienna limited for about 5 months. About 2 months ago the tire pressure light started to come on when all tire pressures actually are normal. So far i had visited my local dealership 3 times in the last few weeks. But the problem still was not solvedbecause they seem don't know how to fix it. Then i went to the website and found out nhtsa has openeda preliminary evaluation regarding 2004 and 2005 seienna tire pressure and reglulating system. That's why i come here to complaint. My situation is when driving on the highway the tire pressure light will come on/off every 20-30 minutes. Although it didn't cause any incident yet. But after awhile, i guess most people might intend to neglect this false alarm. But it is very important to have it function correctly for a vehicle with a rft tire. Therefore i think this defect need to be recalled with a better design. I am going to keep my vehicle the way it is as a live example and welcome anyone from nhtsa come to check on it.

I believe this needs to be recalled for safety.otherwise you might not know when there is an issue with the tire pressure.
Toyota sienna and supposedly other models of toyotas have a tire pressure warning system that does not warn mechanics of damage that will occur to sensors when tire is changed.once damaged warning system will not function properly.toyota charges $134.00 per sensor plus labor.without proper warning labels it must be assumed that a large amount of people are driving around with non functioning warning systems and/or numerous individuals are being unnecessarily charged for repairing items damaged due to toyotas failure to warn.i suggest warning stickers on wheels and door by existing tire pressure sticker.reality is no one should pay over $500 per change of set of tires for broken sensors when a $.05 sticker could have avoided it.

There is an open recall showing on our vehicle (recall #14v273) but we had this recall taken care of at a toyota dealer in germany (receipts attached).the german toyota dealer could not clear the recall in the system and our local toyota dealer in ellicott city, md could not clear the recall even with our receipts.how can i have this recall cleared in the system?it was an issue when we shipped our vehicle back from germany (since you can't have open recalls when shipping).
Takata recall - dashboard is literally melting and a sticky substance. Worst of all it is so shiny, like oil, and is blinding when the sun hits it. I've reached out to my toyota dealer to honor the recall but they are still saying they can't do anything yet. I'm concerned of getting into an accident with the blinding glare.
Purchased 2007 toyota sienna 4000 miles ago - several months.ongoing problem - no accident at this time:in my opinion a very serious hesitation in engine response when i require an immediate fast forward movement of the vehicle, especially at slower speeds.dealer says no service bulletin. (i've been driving for 40 years).
Driving down road, heard loud pop, then sounded like wind rustling. Stopped at gas station and noticed the sunroof had shattered.luckily, the insulation panel was closed and kept glass from falling on driver and passengers. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened leading up to this event.it was a clear, warm day.
While driving my 2007, toyota sienna on a sunny afternoon, the spare tire dropped from under the vehicle.specifically, while i was driving in the parking lot of the local international airport, i drove over a speed bump (about 5 mph) and heard a loud thump.when i looked in the rear view mirror, i noticed my spare tire on the road.upon retrieval of the tire i noticed some rusty metal parts, adjacent the tire, that appeared to have been broken loose from under the car.thankfully i was not on the highway when this happened and that no one was behind me.someone could have been killed or seriously injured.while completing this document i learned that my vehicle was recalled for the aforementioned.
2007 toyota sienna- both sliding door not functioning . They get stuck. Since 2014 we are havingthis problem. In the beginning it was only left side sliding door. When you open the door it open. However if try to close it doesn't close and it is stuck . After several attempts it close. Few months ago i took to a dealer but they didn't check that and check some thing else. When you go to the dealer they took whole day to check your car. Any way recently my right side sliding door also stop working. In addition, i think my back door also not functioning properly. I am planning to take this to a dealer. I hope they will fix it without any charge. It is not our fault. I am sure it is a mechanical problem in the door lock system. I bought this car for my kids school. It is easier to pick up and drop them in school with auto sliding door. Now it doesn't work and it really sucks and very annoying i have to get out of my car every time when i want to pick up or drop off my kids. They can't close the door.next time i will think twice before i buy again this car .
While backing out of garage tapped (literally tapped) the edge of the drivers side view mirror on the garage frame. There was a popping sound and the mirror glass shattered, a 1 inch triangular piece of the housing popped out at the site of impact and a greenish yellow fluid sprayed onto the drivers window and door.i have inquired of toyota and the mirror maker (gentex) as to the nature of this fluid which irreparably stains car paint. No response as yet.i am a physician and would like to know what to tell a patient who might have the window down and gets this fluid on skin or in eyes. I understand this auto-dimming technology is in multiple makes of cars.what safety studies have been done on this "fluid"?i see from the internet that these side view mirror "explosions" have been happening randomly since at least 2004 in many makes of cars.
2007 toyota sienna van, power sliding door center hinge failing, requiring replacement, when door is on driver's side and rarely used.numerous similar complaint online.please consider that such a failure of this hinge cannot be considered "wear and tear" with limited usage.
My 2007 toyota sienna xle automatic door doesn't work.cant open or close it.this is a safety issue we're people could not get out if there was a fire or a car hit the opposite side.this was a known design issue starting in 2002. All toyota did was issue a enhanced warranty with 9years or 120,000 mi.used car buyers have no warning that they are buying a vehicle with a defective door design.toyota kept selling these vans knowing the door design was faulty.
We were driving when back corner window detached from vehicle. No one injured or killed, but that easily could have happened if people were in vicinity. Same situation happened with other back side window a few years earlier on freeway, nearly striking vehicle behind us. Toyota was contacted but refused to recognize faulty design as their responsibility. I checked internet to learn other sienna van owners experienced same problem. Please document as it is only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed due to neglect by toyota.
In 2010, the previous owner had the oil cooler hose replaced under a recall.it appears to have failed again and all of the oil came out of the vehicle and sprayed all over the engine and undercarriage.this failure has been well-documented by other owners, happening at the same approximate mileage that mine did.toyota's repairs to the problem are inadequate.at highway speed, the engine could seize, causing the driver to lose power and possibly control.fortunately, i was on local roads when this happened to me.i do not know what, if any, engine damage occurred.
2007 toyota sienna sliding rear door does not open and close properly it sticks and no longer works automatically
While traveling at 65 mph on interstate 5 in heavy traffic through oregon, the drivers side corner window suddenly without warningfell out of the vehicle.it was dangling by the two wires that attach the molded in glass antennae.other vehicles around me slammed on their brakes and swerved as i'm sure they though the 2 foot wide, 3 foot long piece of glass swing around the out side of the van was going to detach any second and sail into one of their cars.
Faulty rear liftgate struts.in 50 degree weather, struts fail and door drops and automatically continues to close.problem is ongoing.no injury.
Cracked dash board despite garage kept vehicle.
I opened the rear door and it would not shut.i took it to a mechanic that sent me to a body shop who referred me to the dealer.the center assembly hinge needs to be replaced.the door closed but had a crack and today when made a left turn the door opened by itself.imagine if a child was in the back seat!!!
Although toyota has a service bulletin out about the faulty rear sliding doors' cable/lock breaking it would not cover mine due to mileage.i feel that the fact that the door will not open/stay open and slides closed is a safety issue for a child or even adult . Particularly when parked on a hill.
Rear liftgate does not stay open and falls completely to slam close asas it reachs the top to fully opened.this happens with and without power so rear liftgate is not usuable even manually.
As i was accelerating on a city street, going uphill, the accelerator got stuck in the pedal-down position and the car started revving on its own.at the time, i was going about 10-15 mph and the car accelerated to about 25mph before i was able to stop it.i quickly removed my foot from the accelerator and stepped on the brakes which slowed down the acceleration, but did not stop the revving or the acceleration.i tapped the accelerator with my foot which seemed to loosen the accelerator (it became unstuck) and stopped the revving of the engine.i pulled over to calm myself before driving on.this was the third time i have experienced this; the other two times happened on the freeway and was resolved the same way; by stepping down on the accelerator to make it unstuck.the action is very similar to the emergency-brake engage/disengage function on the toyota sienna.
2007 toyota sienna xleat the three year age, the rear bungee's that move the rear hatch up and down began to fail.toyota reluctantly (out of warranty) replaced.prior to, the hatch would fall continually and strike our heads.in the six months since, the hatch has stayed up but i feel the new bungee's are too strong.now the automatic closing feature has failed.you have to really pull on the hatch to close. Toyota denies any "history" of issues with the hatch system on our vehicle.
The rear liftgate fails to stay open and will close automatically very quickly. This can cause injury if persons using the rear luggage area cannot move out of the way before it closes.
Driving on the highway 70 mph, my side rear window blew out .

Thepassenger side power sliding door of my toyota sienna minivan came open while i was driving.i stopped and tried to shut the door but it would not latch.it will not stay shut, even when the door is locked, child lock is on, and the automatic door power is turned off. I had 4 children in the car at the time and this could of been a major incident!apparently toyota knows they are having problems with the doors as they have extended the warranty on them.the latch on the passenger side door was replaced in april at 119,000, but now toyota is saying they will not cover it under the extended warranty because of the mileage being 122,257..there should not be a mileage limit on a problem that could have dangerous consequences!updated 10/07/15*ljupdated 11/07/2017

The consumer stated the floor mat was securely positioned and there was no way, it could have interfered with the accelerator pedal.
This memo was sent via email on the toyota website over a week ago and have not received a response from them. I believe the issue is very serious and potentially life threatening. It is regards to a 2007 toyota sienna that i own.at least five times in the last 3 months i have experienced a very serious episode with my sienna. While my foot is depressing the brake pedal and after coming to a full stop, the engine would begin to accelerate very rapidly. I need to push down very hard on the brake pedal in order not to lurch forward. I have been fortunate that i have not hit anything. What should i do. Because the problem only seems to occur randomly once in a while, a mechanic would not see anything wrong. Thank youjerry greenwald

On october 17th, 2009, while pulling into the parking lot of mcdonald's, my van sudden accelerated as i entered the parking space, the motor was roaring. I would have been turning into my space, my foot would have been over the brake and i may have started to press the brake. When the vehicle surged forward, thinking my foot was on the gas, i immediately moved it further to the left and pressed the brake to the floor. I remember thinking this thing isn't slowing down one bit nor was it stopping, it felt possessed.it slammed into a heavy duty van, rocking it hard and doing considerable damage to our van. I did tell the officer at the scene that i must have had my foot on the gas, it was the only thing that made logical sense to me at the time.in replaying the events in my mind, i was sure my foot was over the brake, and that i didn't press anything hard until after the vehicle accelerated, after i moved my foot further to the left.i have since amended my report with the officer at the scene and my insurance company.the front-end damage on the van has been repaired.on november 17th a technical specialist from toyota went over the van.they released the van back to us without telling us anything.my past history will show i am a safe driver andi do not panic easily.

I was parking my vehicle in the bixby hospital parking lot.i pulled into a space directly across from a vehicle, and put my foot on the brake.as i was putting my 2007 toyota in park the car lurched forwardas ifsomeone was pressing hard on the accelerator.the force was so hard that i hit a pole and then into the car in from of me, pushing the other car back about three feet into a pedestrian..

9/26 approximately 4:30 p.m. 2006 toyota sienna suddenly accelerated in driveway as i was turning leftinto garage.i could not stop vehicle and it crashed into the garage.the only thing that stopped the vehicle from crashing through the garage was the back left wheel hitting the door frame and metal rail of the garage door opener, pulling it down onto the car. The entire left side of the vehicle was damaged along with the side of the garage.we bought the vehicle new and have had no previous mechanical problems with it.we contacted toyota on 9/26, and 9/27.they gave us a case manager and case number and on 9/29 stated that a representative would be appointed to look at the vehicle in 10-14 days and it would take another 30 days for the inspection.they stated if the vehicle was moved, it might be considered "tampered with".we had to have our garage repaired, so had vehicle towed to a toyota dealership on 10/1 with instructions not to start vehicle or do anything to it.our car insurance adjuster would not give an estimate on the vehicle while it was lodged in the side of the garage and felt that it might incur additional damage when pulled out if the overhead door fell on it.contractor was present at towing to remove overhead door and jack up door frame.$3,500 damage to garage.car adjuster willdo to dealership to give estimate on vehicle .i was the only occupant and was not hurt.we have been pulling in this garage since 1983 and with mini-vans since 1987 and know how slowly you have to go - 4 to 5 miles an hour or slower to make the almost 90 degree turn.it suddenly accelerated as i turned.how do we get toyota to expedite this? my husband and i have jobs in different communitiesand need our vehicle.we want them to examine, acknowledge problem, put on recall list and cover our expenses.we feel waiting 2 weeks for a representative to come and another 30 days for a determination is not a timely manner.

Remote controlled rear vision mirror quit folding, against or away as designed. Service writer at toyota refused repair unless owner paid $450. Repairs not performed since mirrors remained focused. In june 2011, the mirror on the passenger side front door began folding back and forth with the wind, about an inch from mechanical failure. Mirror designed without a way to stop mirror from folding. Vehicle has zero accidents, mirror has never been damaged or repaired and folding option rarely used since new. How many toyota's are being driven with unreliable vision due to faulty mirrors that will not lock into place?
We were driving when back corner window detached from vehicle. No one injured or killed, but that easily could have happened if people were in vicinity. Same situation happened with other back side window a few years earlier on freeway, nearly striking vehicle behind us. Toyota was contacted but refused to recognize faulty design as their responsibility. I checked internet to learn other sienna van owners experienced same problem. Please document as it is only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed due to neglect by toyota.
This is the second complaint i have filed with toyota regarding the rear view venting window:i am writing a second email regrinding my serious concern and dissatisfaction regarding the resolution of the left rear venting window on my 2007 sienna completely dislodging from the seal and falling out while driving with passengers in the rear of the car while moving. I have know spoken with the dealership (littleton toyota) who declined and responsibility for this defect and repeatedly informed me it was toyota inc. Who was responsible. I was initially told my two different service department personnel who said the repair would be "under $30.00". I was then told by a 3 individual, cassandra, after i dropped the car off to get fixed , that now it would cost over $850.00 because the entire window needed to be fixed. I called toyota inc. And spoke with cortney who proceeded to tell me that i was out of luck and would have to assume complete responsibility. I asked to speak with a manager and was called by maria, who again told me that i as the customer would have to assume a significant portion of the cost given the warranty of three years had passed. Never mind the serious potential risk for injury, which neither representative would truthfully answer. I have now written the nhtsb and massachusetts attorney generals office to file complaints. I will be filing a small claims case to seek reimbursement for the cost of this window and resolution regarding the right rear venting window as well. This is solely the responsibility of toyota inc. And they should be actively trying to reassure me it will never happen again and appreciative that no one was injured. I am resolute in this matter and will not rest until a responsible resolution is reached. Pictures provided.
9/2/2016 vehicle was driven for about 1 hour without any road incident, parked in a shady location for about an hour and a half during which time a spontaneous crack, more than a foot long that not caused by an impact or any damage, appeared in the windshield on the driver's side.toyota was notified and they refused to remedy the situation because of the age of the vehicle.however, the spontaneous cracking of a windshield seems to me to be a safety hazard just as much as exploding airbags, faulty shift levers, and spare tire holders that fall off and constitutes a pattern of disregard for safety on the part of toyota.this is not the first faulty windshield i have encountered with a toyota vehicle; previously i had a corolla that developed blisters between the layers of glass, also not the result of a road incident.however, they replaced that windshield when the vehicle was more than ten years old because it was a safety hazard.
Recent when stopped at an indoor garage to park the car in the morning one of the rear side windows just spontaneously shattered.we didn't hit anything and there was no object throwing at the car.there ware 2 other persons in the garage witness what happened.this is obviously a manufacturing defect and safety issue.if there were person sitting at the seat next to the window the person could be hurt by the broken glass.
Side impact collision by chevy pickup on a city street.vehicle was moving straight after stopping at a stop sign.driver side completely damaged, but no airbag deployed, not even a single one.
While i was driving down the interstate (70 mph), the spare tire that is stored under the vehicle, fell off in the roadway.i live in south dakota and drive a lot in iowa and nebraska but none of these states are part of the standard recall even though these states use considerable amounts of salt on their roads during winter months.since my sienna is not registered in one of the standard recall states, i never received a recall notice.
Visit to dealer for service (cain toyota, north canton, ohio) when dealer cut cable to spare tire to relocate to passenger compartment under recall #e1s. Toyota motor sales usavery slow to develop a permanent remedy for this recall- now nearly 6 months for my vehicle! i am suffering a major inconveniece of having to repeatedly move the spare tire in order to position the third row seats up or down. I question whether toyota will ever develop a fix for the sienna's spare tire problem!
When i drive my car or make turns i hear a rubbing sound. My mechanic tells me that the wheel bearing hubs need to be replaced or the wheels will eventually fall off. Probably due from where and tare. I don't under why this would be an issue and why so soon on this car.
