Srs airbag light has been on for 8years during driving. I've taken this vehicle to get check at several dealerships & they don't know what's wrong with throughout the years. Finally took it to get check & its discover it's the control module, the programming was dead. Checked vin & there's a recall status waiting to get approved for the control module as of february 2016. It states it was to be determine by september 2016. I'm now in a waiting to get a reimbursement due to i need a vehicle & have to pay for fixing. The disturbing issue is that i was driving with a defected control module that controls the deployment of airbags. Need this recall to happen quick for others vehicle owners.

Toyota is recalling passenger airbags due to faulty takata airbag in which metal fragments may deploy with the air bag.our vehicle is one of the recalled vehicles and i received notice in june/july 2015 with a recommendation not to have any passenger in the front passenger seat.it is now oct. And no replacement airbags have yet been made available.this is our primary vehicle and months have passed without resolution of this safety problem.this is unsatisfactory and more needs to be done to remedy this problem in a shorter amount of time.

I am part of the front passenger seat airbag recall for 2006 toyota sequoias.as a consumer, i have known about the defective airbag for almost 12 months and i am just now receiving a letter from toyota about it.all the letter says is that toyota is trying to find parts with no further information or date when the airbag will be replaced.in the meantime, toyota asks me not to have a passenger in the front passenger seat.i believe toyota has negligently stretched the recall notice long past when the problem was first discovered.toyota still does not have replacement parts and the recall letter sets no timetable for the repair.the remedy is woefully inadequate to not use the front passenger seat.i know the us government has sued over this airbag issue.when does the actual consumer benefit from a suitable remedy?

My vehicleis the subject of a recall for a defective takata airbag inflator.the vehicle was purchased in arizona a few years ago, and i live in san diego, ca.i have a vacationhome in baja california sur, mexico.i keep the toyota sequoia at that home in mexico, about 900 miles from california.there is a toyota dealer in san jose del cabo who could make therepair. I do not want to drive the vehicle 1800 miles round trip to the usa in order to have therepair done in the usa.toyota has refused to allow its dealer in san jose del cabo to make the repair.i would like to have you to require toyota to repair myvehicle purchased in the united states by au.s. Citizen in mexico.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact received a settlement postcard for the frame along with unknown recall notices regarding the air bags. The contact took the vehicle to butler toyota (9419 aronson dr, indianapolis, in 46240, (317) 848-4210) several times to have the frame repaired; however, the air bags were repaired instead. This happened several times until the dealer stated that the settlement letter had expired. The contact stated that the frame was rusted from the inside out and was deteriorating rapidly. The dealer quoted a repair cost of $2,000 for an air suspension air bag that was not included in the recall. The cost to repair the frame was $3,000. The dealer did not include on the paperwork that the frame was the main reason the contact brought in the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that if the dealer had included the frame on the repair order, they would have taken care of the frame. The failure mileage was 230,000.

In early august i received a safety recall notice from toyota about the passenger side airbag being unsafe in our 2006 sequoia. Apparently this recall has been in effect since june 2015 so i find it unacceptable that we weren't notified until early august.the recall notice recommends that we do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat until toyota has fixed the problem.however, toyota is taking an excessively long time to provide parts for the repair.it is now august 31 and there is still no definitive date set for repairing the problem.further, toyota is providing only up to $35/day reimbursement for a loaner vehicle -- which covers only a third to half of what it costs to rent a vehicle of comparable size to our sequoia.this is unfair and a big inconvenience to our family.i understand that parts availability can take time - but at least provide us with a comparable replacement car at no charge.

Received a recall notice involving passenger seat air bag shrapnel upon activation. Toyota recommend no one ride in passenger seat until repaired.after making numerous calls about followup, no solution was forthcoming. No timeline when parts will be available for repair (they don't even have any)!!!that was almost 4 mo. Ago and still no info. From toyota.i called toyota again today (10/6/2015) and the story was the same except a toyota representative did state the air bag could possibly activate at any time without impact.toyota stated in their recall that the shrapnel could cause fatal injuries to occupants!!!!i would like to know what is being done to protect the citizens who own these potential death traps?????this has been known for months but no one seems to care!!!!i did read that toyota was offering 35$ for rental car services but nothing was said about that in my recall letter.and that the government had sued toyota over this.but what about us, the owners of these potential time bombs???who's helping us????????thank you
Takata recall, the time that it is taking to remedy this problem and the solution toyota has is not sufficient. 1 pay for the airbags and submit a reimbursements claim, 2 don't use the passenger seat. Stating that they are up to 2002 for this model is a great inconvenience when purchasing a vehicle for its supposed safety features.
Still awaiting fix for airbag recall... I have had to replace items due to rust, and the frame is extremely rusty as well. Love the vehicle.... Hate the rust... Previous years have been recalled due to rust, not the 2006 model. Please fix this!!! thank you.
Takata recall. This vehicle has not been fixed regarding the airbag recall.

Received notice of recall for front passenger airbag in may 2015; toyota has still not resolved the problem and recommended no use of front passenger seat because of safety. "takata recall"while entering the ramp to get on the eastex fwy. (ih 59) north bound, i observed that up ahead of me a vehicle was in a complete stop while on the freeway.i tried to switch lanes but i had another vehicle to my left which made it impossible for me to switch lanes.i then ran into the back of the other car which caused the accident.after colliding with the stopped vehicle, i was thrust forward into the steering wheel of my car.the driver's side airbag did not deploy and there was nothing to prevent my face, head, and upper body from crashing into the steering wheel and front windshield of my car.
Since the defective airbag recall, i had called my local toyota numerous time to schedule an appointment, they take my info and promise to email me or call back with the next avail. Appointment, however we never hear back, and still no resolution to fixing the airbag.
Takata recall.parts still not available, dealership indicating three more months.unable to use front seat for more than a year.

I purchase a new 2006 toyota sequoia in may of 2006, for the first 3-years the vehicle was still under warrant i returned it to the dealership on multiple occasions in regards to the same problem recently identified with the 2003 sequoia, in all case i was told that it was checked out, however, the problem still occurs today.
2006 toyota sequoia has experienced intermittent electrical problems since purchase. On 30 july 09 vehicle experienced multiple computer failure of ecu, vsc, and other computers. Toyota tech reps say vehicle could not have caused problem, therefore it must be an "external' fault. However, there is absolutely no evidence of any external arcing or other power surge indicative of an "external" event. Toyota refuses to admit potential of a latent defect and says incident must be referred for insurance. Toyota will not address logical questions as to why other (non-protected systems such as the radio) in the vehicle still function in light of the alleged "external event." additionally, there were no circuit breaker or fuses blown, so again how is it possible for the "external event" theory to be valid?given the anecdotal evidence on the web concerning sequoia ecus and vsc computers, what action can nhtsa take to have the manufacturer address the problems?
My vsc trac, vsc ff and abs light come on. This problem seem to happen on most of the sequoia. The dealer told me it the rate sensor need to be replaced.
Pushed switch for power rear tailgate window, window assembly broke and window fell down into door.upon examination, all components - regulator assembly and all connecting parts were severely corroded which led to failure.less than 12 months later, rear tailgate outside handle broke; again under examination the entire interior latch assembly was severely corroded which caused failure.this in my opinion is a design or assembly defect.water is not supposed to be leaking into the interior of the tailgate.from the extent of corrosion, this condition had been occurring for many years - most likely in my opinion immediately from the time that we acquired the vehicle new.the failure, while caused from a defect from the beginning of vehicle life, manifested itself after the vehicle warranty period and toyota is refusing to address.from some online research, i have found this to be a common problem.
I bought my 2006 sequoia used from a dealer. Shortly after buying it i noticed the brake light on the dashboard would come on intermittently. I have brought it to the dealers attention & they say they can not duplicate it & everything appears to be fine with the brakes. It is still happening. My rear wiper, window & defrost system have failed several times. At first i took it to the dealership & they said the window must not have been up the whole way & it was now working. It continued to go in and out, but now they have failed completely. . i have checked the fuses & they are fine. I have taken it to the dealership & they said they do not see anything immediately wrong with it and will need to investigate it further, but that will cost a lot more. I saw several other people have had the same or similar problems so i thought i should add my experience to the list.
Air pump that cuts on for one minute when car is first started, pushes air into starting system to insure all gas is burned completely.took in for service and told by dealer a little plastic fan blade breaks into pcs. And were stuck in valves making car go into "limp mode". When this happened car would not accelerate up a hillor go over 45 mph. Dealer quoted $3500.00 and said it happens all the time to these little plastic fan blades. I have read there are a lot of people who have had same problems especially in the tacoma truck line.i think dealer should be required to fix these no matter how many miles on car or up to 10 years.they should not be made of plastic being so close to all the heat in area of air pump. Me and my family could have been in an accident being on interstatewhere the need to go over 45 mph is absolutely necessary or get rear ended. This problem is well documented by looking at the tacoma web site, toyota is dragging their feet, covering some people and i read covering cars in canada but not in usa. A recall should be issued to cover cost.most of the cost is labor for this 5 buck plastic fan blade.his is unacceptable to have to pay 3500.00 bucks for a bad design.
Have a 2006 toyota sequioa and everyonce and awhile the lights will come on the dash board and the braking system will be very hard to press, almost not stopping the vehicle. I turn the vehicle off for little bit and it returns to normal (sometimes). I see there are other complaints to this matter but still no recall??? it is a really dangerous situation when driving and the lights come on and there are virtually no brakes to speak of. This has been going on for about 1 1/2 years. This latest incident has prompted me to look into this and as i have foud out there are others as well, what can i do?*ln
Received notice of recall for front passenger airbag in may 2015; toyota has still not resolved the problem and recommended no use of front passenger seat because of safety. It is now ~8 months later and no resolve.also, tailgate wipers, window and wiper fluid system not operational (since 2008) despite all good fuses in 4 compartments.
Vehicle battery dies if the ignition is in the accesory position for 20 to 30 minutes, with just the radio on.i have brought to toyota several times since october 2009.battery was replaced one time.i have since been told that there does not seem to be a problem.i was even told one time that i would need a seperate marine battery hooked up in order to listen to the vehicle radio.i have never owned a vehicle that you could not listen to the radio with the ignition in the accessory position for atleast 3 plus hours.something is drawing on this battery.it makes no sense.
Vehicle acceleration stalls for a few seconds when turning right into traffic. This issue is the same as nhtsa 10v176000, but is not covered under this safety recall. This issue is very hazardous to drivers.
Door passanger light and glove box and ash tray lights does not work.
Just like every other 2006 sequoia at 80k miles the yellow abs, yellow vsc off, yellow vsc trac , and red brake dashboard lights came on causing it to fail the ma state inspection.disassembled p/n 44050-0c100 and the brushes in the abs pump motor (ate 25.0206-0206.3) are completely gone.
2006 toyota sequoia. Consumer states mats would constantly move under the pedals interfering with gas and brake pedals, there was a loud noise while driving high speeds and when it rains water would leak inside *tgwthe consumer stated the dealer assured her, they had rectified the problem by replacing the mats and making sure the lining around the windows were tight. However, the leak continued as well as the noise while driving.also, the navigation/radio,cd player wasn't working properly.the dealer was finally able to stop the water from leaking in the vehicle. The consumer then stated the vehicle began to stall/ hesitate while turning and then it would jerk fast at times.a diagnosis revealed the transmission pan gasket was leaking. Also the power outlets were no longer working, the vehicle began to ride rough, the seat would grind and vibrate, the tire pressure monitoring light illuminated, the brake hardware kit was falling apart, the engine was leaking oil and the dealer replaced the gaskets, the trunk wouldn't open. The consumer stated while driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly stopped.the dealer stated the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the consumer the drain plug was missing.
In march 2016, i had - for the first time - the vsc trac, vsc off, brake, and abs lights on instrument panel come on... All 4 on at once. Then again, today, i had the vsc trac, vsc off, and brake lights come on. A known issue for both sequoia and tundra models, owners have tried to get a recall. Many thoughts online about what causes this; it appears it's a faulty skid control unit (ecu unit). Says the ecu will take the vehicle into a "safe" mode and limit output power and acceleration, until this is resolved. I experienced this today after the lights came on. Others online say might be a bad brake fluid sensor, brake pedal switch or oxygen sensor. However, overwhelmingly it seems to be a faulty ecu' and this is a very expensive electronic part ($2,300)!
Recurring; power failure and abrupt deceleration.2006 toyota sequoia.dealer diagnosed with failed skid control ecm assembly.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia.the contact stated that the check engine warning light, vsc track, and vsc light illuminated intermittently.the dealer made eight attempts to duplicate the failure.the manufacturer was not aware of the failure.the vehicle had not been repaired.the current mileage was 89,636.the failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Updated 07/08/11
I have purchased the vehicle a year ago. I happen to look at the carfax today and realize the carfax has more mileage then what is on the odometer.
Several times now when trying to turn and accelerate into traffic the traction control light comes on and i'm not able to accelerate for a few seconds (no power). The tires are in good shape and the condition is dry. This is scary and dangerous at the same time.
Our 2006 sequoia experiences the same turning problem as announced in the 2003 sequoia recall today.when making turns, the traction control light comes on and the vehicle hesitates a few seconds before accelerating.it is especially concerning because on left turns in front of other cars, you don't know that you will clear traffic.this has been happening over the last couple of months.i called toyota and received case #[xxx] .i was told that they show no information on this model year having problems. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I have a 2006 toyota sequoia with 83,900 miles on it. The vehicle vsc trac system goes on and off for no reason when the car is in motion. As a result, the brakes go into grind mode and do not engage. I have narrowly missed hitting other vehicles and pedestrians as a result of not being able to brake. I contacted toyota to file a complaint. However, i was told that this issue is known, but not under recall or covered by warranty. I have to pay out of pocket to fix this. This is not an acceptable answer as this is a public safety and liability issue. I need help resolving this with toyota.
On two different occasions, while pulling into traffic from a stop, at less than 10 mph, the car lost power, the gas pedal was non-responsive, and the car seemed to brake for a few seconds resulting in my temporary loss of control of the vehicle. The vsc light on the dashboard flashed several times.after a few seconds, power to the vehicle returned.
Vsc/trac and check engine light on
When taking turns at mild acceleration the slip indicator light will flash and the vehicle loses acceleration. This generally happens when taking a left turn from stop while entering traffic from a side street onto a main road. Generally at the intersections there are a small grade change for water drainage, this will cause uneven surface when driving across and cause a minor rocking of the vehicle. This is has produced dangerous situations on multiple occasions where the loss of acceleration leaves the vehicle in the oncoming lane longer than desired and could easily result in a serious collision. I have found similar complaints on multiple forums that have references the cause being associated with abs sensor or yaw sensors. Would love for this to be investigated and a solution provided.
The vehicle vsc trac system goes on for no reason when the car is in motion (roads are straight, and dry). As a result, the brakes go into a loud grind mode and do not engage, a loud blaring beeping sounds, the vehicle starts to vibrates horribly, i can not accelerate and the steering is difficult. It is not safe, as i was on a country road going 55 mph on a straight 2 way road with traffic!it has happened twice and as far as i can see it has happened to many other 2006 sequoias owners yet only the 2003 were recalled for this issue. Unacceptable!
After putting gas in the vehicle, i pulled away from the gas station and when i came to a stop sign before entering the main thoroughfare the brake pedal was so hard to depress that i almost had to stand on it to get the vehicle to stop, and nearly was unable to before plowing into oncoming traffici also noticed that the "trac off", "vsc trac", and brake malfunction indicator were all illuminated. It was a real panic situation because it was totally unexpected and my wife and 2 young daughters were in the vehicle with me. I am an 20 year + ase master automotive technician with over 30 years experience. I stopped the vehicle and visually checked the brake system as well as i could on the side of the road and saw no obvious cause for the issue. The only way i could get the warning lights off and the brakes to work was to turn off and restart the ignition. After that, the vehicle went the rest of the day (140 miles) with no problem. I am now afraid to let my wife and kids drive this vehicle until i figure out what's wrong with it. I do see where there are afew similar complaints, and a couple that are pretty much identical to mine. This vehicle is in excellent condition with only 52,000+ miles on it. This is a serious safety concern and it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt of killed due to this issue. There should definitely be some kind of safety recall issued.
While driving at 35 mph, the check engine light, vsc off light, and vsc trac light all came on at once, and the vehicle stopped accelerating, and i experienced a dramatic decrease in vehicle power. I drove the vehicle home noticing a drastic change in acceleration as the sequoia would not accelerate normally; it would accelerate at a significantly reduced rate, topping out at 35mph on the flats and 16 mph on an incline,in addition, during start up, the engine makes a high-pitch vacuum noise, which drops off and normal engine sound returns.i have had the car diagnosed; error codes p2440, p441 and p444 are all present indicating a failure of the air injection pump.this is a known problem on toyota sequoias and tundras; however, toyota has only acknowledged it on the 07-10 sequoia by extending the warranty to 10 years and 150,000k miles for this part.it is clear from other posts on thenhtsa website and others that this problem also exists with the 2004-07 sequoias as well.this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed before someone is injured, or worse yet killed.
Traction control intermittently kicks in when taking off from a stop. Pavement is level and dry at the time. Loses acceleration for a second or two. It has happened several times since 01/03/2020. Problem seems to be increasing.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds over an uneven road surface, the vsc light illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the check engine, the traction off and the vsc tract warning indicators illuminated as the brake pedal was depressed but the braking was delayed. The vehicle also veered from left to right. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air pump assembly and switching valves failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Codes c1223 (abs control system malfunction), c1247 (stroke sensor), and c1251 (pump motor is locked/ open circuit fault)had to replace vsc module/computer at my own cost.
Trac control, check engine light, vcs lights, abs lights, and brake warning lights all came on at once as i started vehicle one morning.
My car has been having this problem for several months and i decided to bring it in to get it checked and fixed. My signals for the brake light, trac off lights and vsc trace lights all go on at the same time periodically as i am driving anywhere on the freeway or the street, and disapear periodically. I thought i had fixed everything when they diagnosed 5 things on my vehicle that needed to be fixed. One of them was my mass air flow sensors that are making my lights go on and off. To which i went ahead and let them fix it and many other things and still it is not fixed and continues to go on and off. This is very dangerous because it's messing with my brake system.
Vsc trac on/off brake indicator lights appear while driving in the 35-45mph range. If you attempt to stop the vehicle (firm or light brake pressure), there is a loud grinding noise, as if it is activating the abs, which takes a little longer to come to a complete stop. It would've been nice if toyota created a vsc trac on/off switch (at this rate, i may have to create my own).some websites mention dirty sensors (speed sensors), some mention possible faulty yaw rate sensor (level warning switch, located in the center console),steering angle sensor may need adjusting. Who knows, but this would be a definite accident waiting to happen. I'm surprised this hasn't been considered a recall? http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/ts/tsmodie/2012-10-29_191900_1.gif
Abs, trac, vsc and brake and check engine lights all signaled fault codes. Codes are #1251 and #1223, again, this after computer module was replaced at full cost to the consumer $1,059.the same fault has re-occurred in less than 6 (six) months of having replaced the abs, trac, vsc computer module.
2006 toyota sequoia limited 4 wheel drive. When i stop at intersections i receive a jolt in the drivetrain and a slight forward movement in the vehicle.the toyota dealership has stated their is nothing wrong with the transmission and performed a driveshaft maintenance which has not alleviated the issue.
After a stop on dry pavement, the vehicle does not accelerate as quickly as it should. The traction control light flashes then the vehicle lurches forward catching up to the throttle position once the sensor warning light clears (after a few seconds). The issue is more pronounced in 4hi. Safety issue when turn across traffic as vehicle stutters or delays the turn.
While applying brakes..it takes a while to stop and while in reverse / backing up ...brakes squeek and slides when backing up and makes a squeeking, popping noise and it slides like the brakes are going to give out. Took to toyota dealership and they state all vehicle brakes squeek and very common / found nothing wrong and had them indicate in writing (a mechanic and 2 other people have drove my vehicle stating yes something wrong w brakes)
I almost kill myself, the track off goes when i was driving and my car slide to the right after that all lights on the car went on and the code reader do not work says i can't read the codes no codes on the computer
We have four drivers in our family and have driven and owned 4x4 wrangler, explorer, expedition, subaru outback sport and 2 awd plymouth voyager. We now also own and drive a 2006 toyota sequoia. The sequoia is a danger to us and other drivers when there is snow or ice on the ground. We live in michigan. With the 4 wheel drive on and with stability control, the back end still slides out easily without provocation. When it does the vsc takes over and leaves you out in traffic with no power.if you are going over 60mph you cannot turn on 4wd from 2wd. This requires slowing down in freeway traffic to activate 4wd. Abs does not come on if you are traveling at a slow speed like down a narrow icy driveway like we have. The sequoia is a disaster waiting to happen. It obviously was not tested in real life winter conditions and needs to be fixed. Please help us.
Multiple incidents and multiple trips to dealership with nothing resolved.abs activates with vsc lights at low speeds when reversing out of driveway, driving slowly down road, etc...no reason i can think of for it to engage.vehicle makes a loud grinding sound and feels like it won't stop.very common issue from what i see already reported.yaw sensor replaced to fix another vsc issue when making left u-turns...almost got in accident when the brakes kept me from completing a u-turn with traffic coming...luckily i continued into driveway without incident.this happened after the above but the above still continue to this day so it was not the cause.
Almost every time i go over a bump or dip at 2-3 mph the traction control light comes up, the vehicle slows down and i am unable to accelerate for a few seconds, then all comes back to normal. It happens every day and a few times i nearly got in the accident due to unexpected slow down.
The trac off light and vsc light and abs light comes on, on the dash. When you make a turn the vehicle looses power and stalls in the road. The steering is all over the road and it doesn't have the stop time as it did.
When my frame was recalled and repaired i started having my vcs and checknengin3 light come on constantly and name the truck shakes and is unable to be driven over speeds of 25 unstable and unsafe. Took it to lawrence toyota and the said it would cost $2175 to repair this problem has occured in 100 of sequoias and should be part of the frame recall. This vehicle is unsafe to drive and all i want toyota to do is repair my vehicle as part of the original recall.
Abs vsc and brake light comes on sitting still. .and at 30 mph abs system engages for no reasonand no traction issues.
When making left or right turns at slow speed, traction control light blinks, sometimes with beep alarm and sometimes engages the abs system. Very dangerous when pulling out into traffic to not be able to accelerate since you lose control of driving the vehicle for about 3-5 seconds.
When turning corner in motion the traction control light indicator comes on and the vehicle loses acceleration for 2 - 3 seconds, when light goes off acceleration will resume. Very dangerous when you are in traffic. Does not happen all the time.
Vehicle acceleration stalls for a few seconds when turning right into traffic. This issue is the same as nhtsa 10v176000, but is not covered under this safety recall. This issue is very hazardous to drivers.
While driving the vehicle on the veterans highway in tampa, it began shaking and vibrating. The vehicles trac off light illuminated and it felt like it was braking by itself. I almost lost control of the sequoia because it happened so suddenly and violently.
Brakes fail on occasion and vsc light, trac off light and brake light come on. Hard to stop vehicle. Turning car off and back on again seem to temporarily solve the problem. Seems as if this is a common ongoing issue with the 2006 sequoia based on previous posts. Taken to dealer on three different occasions and they were unable to identify problem. Today 5/23 dealer stated its a vacuum and repair part is approx. $1000. Please investigate this complaint because of the seriousness of the loss of stopping power with such a large vehicle before someone gets hurt. At least twelve complaints of similar problems have been filed.
The brakes do not work under certain conditions, normally after the vehicle has been at rest and in moist conditions.
The vehicle light that indicates skidding turns on and thecar brakes suddenly, it occurs when i am on the freeway and my brake lights don't turn on....the car assumes that i am skidding but the road and tires are fine.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while at a stop light, all the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The failure recurred several times and the vehicle was taken to another dealer, where the valve spring key was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,966.updated 8/12/14the consumer stated the repairs performed on the vehicle were done incorrectly . The valve key loosened causing the vehicle to misfire.updated 08/25/2014

Secondary air system repeatedly braking putting the vehicle into limp mode, also causing jerky driving. 2-3k repair on a known defect with no recall?
Spent over 2k at toyota carlsbad for repairs 1-2 years ago..problem accelerating and lights coming up for check engine, track off and vsc..took again and they are asking for nearly 5k for repairs..problem accelerating in freeway and tpms lighs on..

Vehicle acceleration stalls for a few seconds when turning right into traffic. This issue is the same as nhtsa 10v176000, but is not covered under this safety recall. This issue is very hazardous to drivers.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact was driving 60 mph when the vehicle lost power and the warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where unknown repairs were made to the vehicle. The failure recurred several days later with the illumination of the instrument panel warning lights and loss of power. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who advised the contact that the cause of the failure was the air pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 76,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.
While driving at low speeds the vehicle experienced a momentary loss of power and a grinding/vibrating of the brakes while in motion.the trac off and vsc trac warning lights came on along with the brake light. The warning lights and vibrating of the brakes could only be reset by turning the ignition off and restarting the vehicle. It happened twice in the last 12 hours.
I own a 2006 toyota sequoia with 49,000.this is my second sequoia (prior was a 2002 year model) so i am very familiar with the characteristics and nuances of the vehicle. After purchasing this sequoia, i immediately noticed that while stopped in traffic, at traffic signals, and behind other vehicles, the car would suddenly accelerate and lunge forward moving the car several feet forward.the first couple of times this occurred, i thought i had been rear-ended.i came to realize that it had something to do with a momentary surge in the accelerator.even with your foot on the brake, it still causes the vehicle to lunge forward. My wife and i have nearly struck vehicles in front of us.i took the vehicle back to the dealership on several occasions during warranty and reported the incidents.of course we received their standard reply "we could not get your vehicle to duplicate the problem." when questioned further, we were told that it was probably when the a/c pump was coming on, and it only felt like we were moving but actually weren't, and that this was normal. Would make sense, but the vehicle does this with both the a/c on and the a/c off though i must admit it seems to do it more frequently during the summer months. Plus, this never happened with my previous sequoia. Also, it is not our imagination that the vehicle is moving forward.we have nearly struck the rear end of other cars and must now stop 8 - 10 feet behind other vehicles. I looked on line and found numerous other sequoia owners reporting the same problem, and getting the same response from toyota.being somewhat mechanically inclined, i too believe this is an electronic/computer control problem. Even though i am not aware of this particular problem causing deaths, please don't forget us as it is still an acceleration problem, and for what we paid for this vehicle, we are owed better than their lame excuse.thanks for listening.
Radiator on 2006 toyota sequoia at 2700 miles failed, sprung leak causing the engine to overheat.

Gas gauge drops to below empty when tank is 1/4 full. This has happened on several occasions, mostly from startup. Distance to empty indicator shows actual mileage left, but rapidly deteriorates to 0.
2006 toyota sequoia back door lock is broken. I know of 2 other owners with the same defect. If i was in an accident and need to escape through to open the back door hatch. I would be unable to do so because of the defect.

I own a 2006 toyota sequoia limited.when it rained i noticed water was getting in the vehicle at the rear hatch and under the right center row seat.i took my vehicle to a toyota dealer but they were unable to find the problem.i took it to a different toyota dealer and they said there was a leak coming from the bolts for the left hatch shock; they removed all rear interior and found "many hardware pieces missing".the dealer states the bolts were removed, cleaned, and applied silicone to them.apparently the leak is gone.however, whenever it rains, i am concerned the problem could come back.
Concerning 2006 toyota sequoia - the rear tailgate latch lever broke.there is no interior tailgate release button.dealership replaced it at our cost because they said it was no longer under warranty.original and replacement lever is made of plastic with all the stress on a small piece of plastic.my own research has shown that many people have had this problem.it would appear that this could be a safety issue if rear occupants of the 3rd row seat had to exit through the tailgate in an emergency and the latch were to break again (or be broken from an impact/accident).
He rear door latch failed, making the door inoperable. Use of the door for entry and exit was impossible, creating a safety hazard. Repair of this latch failure is expensive ($400 - $700) and inconvenient. The design of the part and the material used (plastic) appears to be at fault. A heavier duty metal part is now available from after market parts dealers. The problem appears to be common and widespread judging from a discussion with a local toyota dealer service center and judging from the number of complaints and information on the internet.

My toyota sequoia is a 2006 4x4 and has excessive frame rust at the weld seems and all over the rear axle housing and suspension components. I recently learned that toyota has started to recall and replace these frames that are rusting from the inside out. I am worried about this rust at the frame weld and that snow and road salt and ice melter are causing my frame to rust from the inside out.my sequoia was originally licensed in kansas and they use heavy road salt. I live in colorado and they have a heavy use of mag chloride, which is a major rust factor. The toyota frame looks like it was never properly treated to prevent this type of rusting.i would like my frame to also be replaced and covered by toyota under this recall.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My wife and i own a 2006 toyota sequoia limited 2 wheel drive.when stopping at intersections we frequently receive a jolt in the drivetrain and a slight forward movement in the vehicle. It feels like the vehicle has been lightly rear ended by another vehicle.many other people have complained online about this same problem.the toyota dealership has stated their is nothing wrong with the transmission, however, that the problems is being caused by feedback torque from the air conditioning clutch engaging and disengaging.how pathetic.my wife and i are concerned about the transmission, the possibility of rear ending another vehicle, entering an intersection, and decline in vehicle value etc. Toyota customer service has stated verbally that problem is a recognized problem by toyota and is common to the other vehicles.absolutely incredible they acknowledge a safety problem and have no solutions.

Warning indicator trac off , vsc off, and brake are on with grinding brake noise occurred.
The vsc trac light, the vsc off light and the brake lights all come on.... It caused my brakes to actually fail. I can turn the vehicle off and restart and this seems to reset it.this happens without warning and at various times.it happens quite frequently and especially during the warm summer months.it is extremely dangerous andwould happily have it fixed if someone could tell what the exact fix is?
Toyota sequoia (ball joints recall) was driving on highway i-5 northbound just after the bridge that goes over the sacramento river i was on the bypass/cosway bridge driving in the #1 (of 2) lane going 65 mph when suddenly my front end driver's side of my vehicle dropped completely and i was skidding on complete metal, i had no breaks and continued to skid for what seemed like forever, and steered to my to my right passing the #2 lane going up against the edge of the right side on the bridge. I was completely shocked. I couldn't open my driver's side door due the traffic right up against me. I immediately called my insurance road-side assistance who dispatched a tow truck. Due to the nature of the location, the tow truck required the assistance of highway patrol. The tow truck driver immediately knew about this issue and said toyotas were known from the upper/lower ball joints breaking on them. The vehicle was taken to valley tire service shop. The service guy there also knew immediately what was wrong with it. The next day i called the toyota manufacturer to report the incident. I was informed that the defective part was in fact a recall. However, the part had already been replaced in 2009. After having reviewed many blogs on line about this being a common issue with toyota sequoias (some more than once), i was extremely concerned. I am extremely concerned and fear driving this vehicle knowing that the defective part having already been replaced is still defective. I will not trust another part being replaced on this vehicle and would like to know what i should do.the consumer no longer owns the vehicle. Updated 10/04/2017
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the brakes would seize in weather temparatures under 40 degrees when attempting to make a sudden stop with the illumination of the brake warning indicator. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia.
I almost kill myself, the track off goes when i was driving and my car slide to the right after that all lights on the car went on and the code reader do not work says i can't read the codes no codes on the computer
The vsc trac light, the vsc off light and the brake lights all come on....it caused my brakes to actually fail. I can turn the the vehicle off and restart and this seems to reset it.this happens without warning and at various times.this has happened more than once.i took vehicle to dealer, they replaced a $200 part and it did not help.it's happened again.i've read many many reports of this online.why no recall.it's a miracle nobody has died.brake failure????seriously.
Abs system goes on without warning leaving me unable to brake, usually when i am backing out of a parking space & it's cold outside.has happened intermittently over the last year.when i turn the car off & back on it seems to clear up the issue.took it in and was given the codes c1223 (fault in abs system), c1247, c1310, was then referred to a dealer.did some research online & saw i am not alone so wanted to report it. Also 2 years ago we had our latch break on the rear door, had to have it replaced to open up the door, this has happened to many many sequoias!!
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph the vsc, traction control and anti-lock brake warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that when he attempted to engaged the brake it became stuck and failed to stop the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle went through an intersection. The contact mentioned that after the vehicle was brought to a stop and restarted the lights illuminated again and it made a loud noise. The failure recurred once again on a separate occasion. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The failure and current mileage was 60,000. The vin was unavailable.
Codes c1223 (abs control system malfunction), c1247 (stroke sensor), and c1251 (pump motor is locked/ open circuit fault)had to replace vsc module/computer at my own cost.
We need help in getting toyota motors, inc. To honor the warranty program covering premature excessive rust corrosion of certain toyota model frames.in mid-october 2018 we received notification from toyota motors, inc., of the following: 'warranty enhancement notification ' zh8 and limited service campaign ' hof.'the zh8 and hof were instituted as a result of a determination that the frames on certain toyota vehicles are prone to 'excessive, premature rust corrosion because the frames were not properly prepared and treated against rust corrosion when they were manufactured.'excessive rust corrosion on my suv 'compromises the vehicles' safety, stability, and crash-worthiness because important suspension components, engine mounts, transmission mounts, and body mounts anchor to the vehicles' frames'.by driving my high end suv, i will be putting my family's safety at risk. On 10/25/2018:we took our suv to jim coleman toyota in bethesda, md for frame inspection. The attached work order shows: 'inspected and found no perforation. Eligible for crc spray ' customer will return at a later date for frame crc application.'it was during this time i was told that jim coleman only had one person performing this work. And that we had two years from october 2018 to have the work performed by toyota at no charge.on monday march 10, 2019, we left our suv with the toyota dealer so that the hof work could be performed.we received a call from the dealer at 5:05pm on friday 03/15/2019 informing us that (a) our suv had not been repaired since the frame needed to be replaced (b) that there are large holes in the frame and (c) no work would be performed since the hof had ended in january 2019. We paid over $60,000.00 for our toyota suv not many years ago.we literally received a different answer regarding the crc and hof each time we called toyota customer relations
Abs vsc and brake light comes on sitting still. .and at 30 mph abs system engages for no reasonand no traction issues.
For almost a year, the vsc trac, vsc off, and emergency brake lights have been illuminated on the dash of our 2006 sequoia.it has been in for repairs six times, and many remedies have been attempted, to no avail.the three lights continue to light at random timesin the past week, the master cylinder has been replaced, they have replaced and retorques sensors to spec, and replaced the booster assembly.the lights remain on.often the tech claims that there are no codes in the system and that they can't fix what they can't see is broken.they tell me it isn't a safety issue.but upon reading many message boards, this problem is not random, is indeed a safety issue and seems to have fallen through the cracks with toyota.
Power brakes quit working while driving. Approx 8 times, when coming to a stop or backing out of a parking space, the power brakes go out. Sometimes, codes appear on the dash and sometimes they don't. I usually have to restart the car to get it to work again. I have taken it in to the dealership twice and they can't find anything wrong.
I have a 2006 toyota sequoia. The vsc & trac lights as well as the brake light and the tire pressure light started coming on in the morning, usually when cold. Not sure exactly when this started but it has been happening for years now. The lights usually go off when the engine is shut off and usually the only time it is an issue is when the weather gets the slightest bit cool.after researching this issue online, i am seeing that this appears to be a very common problem and apparently there have been some brake related issues (vehicle not braking properly) also associated with these lights, although there has not been a recall to date.
Vsc trac/vsc off, brake warning lights go on all at once.i have a 2006 toyota sequoia.
Brake warning light comes on periodicaly. Vsc light shows on and off. Brakes are unresponsive at times.all three lights come on and off. Traction control is activated without warning.took to dealership today and had to pay $2,000 for a new brake booster and skid control ecu.i have seen the same problem with many other toyotas.it is a safety issue and should be part of a recall campaign.
My vsc trac, vsc ff and abs light come on. This problem seem to happen on most of the sequoia. The dealer told me it the rate sensor need to be replaced.
The brakes do not work under certain conditions, normally after the vehicle has been at rest and in moist conditions.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia.while stopped at the light or intersection and she attempts to accelerate. The vehicle would not accelerate instead it lost power and it would only drift.the vehicle stability control light illuminates and within a few seconds the vehicle would accelerate. She noticed that the failure occurs ninety five percent of the timewhile the vehicle was in four wheel drive. She took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer test drove the vehicle. The dealer stated thatthe failure could an antilock break malfunction, but they are not sure if that is the part that is causing the failure.the estimated cost for repair was $2, 500. The manufacturer took a report, case 1002137212. The manufacturer stated they would contact the dealer and she would receive a call back.the failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 89,000. Updated 5/17/2010 * cnupdated 06/24/10
After breaking and coming to a complete stop it felt like i have been tapped by the car behind me.thishappened quite a few times but not after every stop.
Spent over 2k at toyota carlsbad for repairs 1-2 years ago..problem accelerating and lights coming up for check engine, track off and vsc..took again and they are asking for nearly 5k for repairs..problem accelerating in freeway and tpms lighs on..
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely difficult to turn and vibrated intermittently. The vsc sensor and the traction control sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for further inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
Vsc/trac and check engine light on
I own a 2006 toyota sequoia limited.when it rained i noticed water was getting in the vehicle at the rear hatch and under the right center row seat.i took my vehicle to a toyota dealer but they were unable to find the problem.i took it to a different toyota dealer and they said there was a leak coming from the bolts for the left hatch shock; they removed all rear interior and found "many hardware pieces missing".the dealer states the bolts were removed, cleaned, and applied silicone to them.apparently the leak is gone.however, whenever it rains, i am concerned the problem could come back.
2006 toyota sequoia.consumer writes in regards to vehicle frame corrosion / rust issues.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. Upon taking the vehicle in for inspection, the vehicle failed due to a hole in the rear of the frame near the hitch. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the frame was severely rusted. The independent mechanic advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The contact took the vehicle to tri county toyota (15 d and l dr, royersford, pa 19468) where it was also diagnosed that the hole in the frame was due to rust. The contact was advised by the dealer that there was a class action lawsuit, but the dealer could not proceed with a repair because nhtsa had to agree to a plan to initiate a recall and remedy the issue. The vehicle was not repaired, but the dealer stated that they would perform a temporary weld on the frame until toyota could issue a recall with a final remedy. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000. The vin was unavailable.
The frame is very rusted
After years of taking my car to toyota dealer, i took my car in for service by independent mechanic and was told frame rot was so bad that my car is unsafe to drive.
Rust is rapidly destroying the frame of my sequoia!
Frame has rust corrosion causing 18 inch perforated hole in front frame of car. This is same problem that has warranted a recall of the toyota tundra which uses the same frame. The car has been deemed unsafe to drive due to the extensive rust corrosion on the frame. This must be due to poor quality material and coating of the original frame. Through research appears to be a very common problem in sequoia that are in areas dealing with road salt. The recall should be extended to include this model along with the tundra. The car is parked outside driveway and mostly local driving.
2006 toyota sequoia was bought brand new.in 2015frame has lots of rust.when we went for servicing, toyota dealer said, not to waste any money for fluid exchanges, like power steering fluid, transmission fluid change, because car may not pass inspection, because of excessiveframe rust.we are scared to drive, whether spare tire, rear brakesfailing, other components falling off causing damage to car and people drivingbehind . We see sequoias from 2000 to 2004 are recalled for new frame installation because of rust problems. We sincerely hope, toyota will recall 2006 sequoias also. We believed in toyota reputation, for quality and reliability. We are reallyvery disappointed. My family has 3toyotas and expecting to buy 2 more soon. We never expected, sequoias are so bad , where life itself is in danger driving them. We wish toyota will recall sequoias for frame replacement.
Severe frame corrosion, 2006 toyota sequoia: i was unaware of the "cold weather states" frame corrosion problem with toyotas (and recalls of older sequoias and other toyota trucks) until i took my '06 sequoia to my local dealer for an airbag recall replacement and diagnosis of what i thought was a minor front end rattle. When they raised it on the lift, they said the vehicle behaved improperly and they were alarmed. That is when they discovered the large, rusted hole in the frame! what a shock it was when they told me, and then, to be advised that it is unsafe to drive! if i had not taken it in for the airbag recall, my family and i could be dead right now, if conditions had been just so. This is absolutely unbelievable that toyota is putting peoples' lives in danger by not recalling all vehicles with this frame and standing by their product. Are they waiting for a death(s) to occur before they are forced to recall? they certainly know that other non-recalled models of sequoia have frame rot. Presently, my local toyota dealer is waiting for approval or disapproval to have the frame replaced free of charge. I am wary and left in constant worry if toyota will help, based on the reports of other peoples' experiences whose vehicles were not recalled yet. I am faced with it being a total loss if toyota does not choose to do the right thing. (this is their fault. They should fix it free of charge. Period.) i bought this vehicle because of its reported reliability. I have been a 3 times loyal customer to toyota and am in utter disbelief how i have been misled. Please push to have toyota recall all toyota sequoias that have been made on this frame so that nobody else has to go through this unimaginable stress, and more importantly, before someone dies or is severely injured. Will my report be the final report that prompts a recall or this death trap? i hope so.
The undercarriage is rusting badly to the point that i have found items that have rusted off the frame lying in my driveway after the car is parked.the inside of the rear hatch is rusted out beyond use.car is well maintained and always in covered parking. Parts of the frame can be pulled off due ot the rust flaking and parts can be pulled off that should be bolted the car.
Brought vehicle in to have vsc light service and found out that the frame where the vehicle rear stability bar connects to is all rusted out. And the other side will soon follow. I was told that the vehicle was unsafe to drive, see photos.
In april 2017 our 2006 sequoia was taken to a mechanic for repair. The mechanic told us the amount of rust under the vehicle and around the frame was so bad he recommended we file a complaint. His assessment was that the car is unsafe to drive. I am petitioning that toyota stand behind this issue for our safety!!
The frame, rear-end housing, brake system, guards, shields, exhaust and many sub parts are rusted completely through. The brake lines to the rear brakes ruptured due to excessive rust.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the frame of the vehicle exhibited excessive rust. The vehicle was taken to both a dealer and an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle frame was rusted through. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
I have replaced the latch on my lift gate 3 times now. The latch keeps breaking. This is ridiculous. I don't see a recall for it but i think there should be a recall for it. I can't access my spare tire if i have a flat or something. This needs to be addressed asap.
Rear hatch.rear hatch handle made of plastic.has broken three times since i have owned the car.dealer charges $600 each time to replace.toyota should not make cars with such cheap parts.cannot get into vehicle.
The frame, rear axle, suspension, brake lines components are severely rusted in particular the frame where it is rusting from the inside out. These frames suffer from the same issue as other toyota trucks where toyota replaced the frames. This rust condition makes these vehicles unsafe to be on the road. Toyota needs to recall of these vehicles before people are hurt. I purchased this vehicles new in 2006 and maintained it well. I addressed the external rust but can not prevent the internal rust.the frames need to be replaced or the vehicle brought back and disposed of.
Severe rust hole in rear frame over leaf springs noted by mechanic when doing alignment. I was informed that it would not pass inspection.
The frame on the vehicle has excessive rust and there are some rust perforations and holes in the structural parts of the frame. In addition, some stability components need to be welded back onto the frame because they have broken off.
The frame of the truck has become rusty very quickly with normal city road use
Frame rusted out and parts dropping off frame with no early warning. Toyota completed corrosion resistant compound 2 years ago following inspectionper limited service campaign h0f, saying issue resolved to extent of warranty with known rust issue for this year and model. Now another independent garage saying we never should have been driving, much less hauling 5000 lb. Trailer. Only warning was odd sound from under carriage.
My vehicle was in for engine and transmission repairs and being worked on for 3 months. I was unable to get it to toyota before the january 31 deadline for the frame program. I called and was told because it was being worked on, it would be honored anyways. Called to schedule to bring it in and they said, sorry, that expired, so you have to get approval from toyota but we can still coat it in anti corrosion til the end of may. I called toyota and spoke to multiple people who all said, its expired and we can't help you. So now i have a vehicle with a proven unsafe frame and no solution.
There's an 18 to 24 inch hole in the frame on the left front, which should not have deteriorated so quickly or to that extreme.extreme safety hazard as the frame could brake with any significant stress, such as potholes.
During servicing, the sequoia was found to have a rusted/rotten frame and declared unsafe to drive. Toyota has had other frame rust replacement recalls for this model, but not for the model year in question. They have had frame recalls for 2006 for similar models (tacoma). This safety issue was not found by the dealership previously, although the dangerous situation would have existed. Toyota does not acknowledge the issue.
The frame of the body of the toyota is rusting very bad. For only having the car three years buying this as a certified car, the body shouldn't be this bad. I'll also be opening up a case with toyota.
The sequoia's frame has excessive rust and corrosion.
Frame is rusting bad. Looked online and see other people having the same problem. Noticed recall was done on the tacoma.
Still awaiting fix for airbag recall... I have had to replace items due to rust, and the frame is extremely rusty as well. Love the vehicle.... Hate the rust... Previous years have been recalled due to rust, not the 2006 model. Please fix this!!! thank you.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact experienced a flat tire and was unable to open the rear hatch (to remove the spare tire) due to excessive rust. The contact also stated that the hatch window did not open and the rear wiper did not work due to rust. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it the hatch mechanism was upgraded with a metal piece to prevent it from rusting again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 102,000. Updated 11/01/16*ljupdated 12/13/16.
Heavy rust on structural frame, front and rear axle and suspension components.
Underside in the rear of the vehicle has significant amount of rust corrosion. Dealer to examine.
I noticed there are some rusty spot on the frame of my 2006 toyota sequoia.i would like to know if there is any other reports related to this issue.
2006 toyota sequoia.consumer writes in regards to vehicle frame corrosion / rust issues.
Vehicle has alot rust under the body. I see a campaign is on for vehicles up to 2004 but they need to include 2006 sequoias.
Won't pass a state inspection due to frame rot. Not covered under toyota recall. I've owned five toyota's which lasted 200,000+ miles each. Here at 82,000 miles already holes in frame is just pathetic. Now i just got a perfectly good sequoia mechanically and cosmetically but just sitting because i can't afford a $10,000 frame replacement.
Still awaiting fix for airbag recall... I have had to replace items due to rust, and the frame is extremely rusty as well. Love the vehicle.... Hate the rust... Previous years have been recalled due to rust, not the 2006 model. Please fix this!!! thank you.

I heard a knocking noise coming from my front right wheel area when i would go over a bump. Even when i was going very slow over a speed bump. I took it to my local repair garage and he told me it sounded like my strut was sticking. I made an appointment to have him replace my front struts. When i returned on 4/26/13 he told me that the bottom of the front right strut was broken off & that my front left strut had a crack in it & would have broken. He kept the part & showed me where it was broken & how it goes together. He said it was only the weight that was holding it on & he could not believe that it did not slide off. They check to see if this was part of a recall on the vehicle & did not find one. They recommended that i report it because it was dangerous & very rare that both struts would be effected. One broken & one cracked ready to brake. Please contact me if there is any recall on the toyota sequoia struts.
The contact owned a 2006 toyota sequoia. While driving 5 mph and making a left turn, the driver's side ball joint failed without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the ball joint was replaced. A year later, while the contact's wife was driving 70 mph, the passenger side ball joint failed without warning. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a median. There were no injuries and police report number: p190541059 was filed. The vehicle was totaled and towed to a tow yard. The cause of the failure was not determined. There were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 230,000. The vin was unknown.
Pulled out of driveway and drove 30 feet towards a stop sign going 15 mph and ball joint broke and car fell to driver side.
I am having unusual tire wear on the outside edge of all 4 tires on my vehicle (2006 toyota sequoia), to the point of becoming bald.i have been relaying my concern to the dealer for the past 11k miles.the vehicle currently has 21k miles on it.the vehicle has been aligned 3 times by manufacturer dealers, the front ball joints have been replaced and the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected by district level manufacturer's people.they are saying nothing is wrong with the vehicle, but i have been doing some research and am finding that this has been a complaint on the same model of vehicle since 2002.i feel that the suspension of this vehicle is not allowing it to ride properly on the tires, thus causing this premature wear.the problem seems to be on bf goodrich, bridgestone and in particular, dunlop tires.
Heavy rust on structural frame, front and rear axle and suspension components.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia.the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 07v013000 (suspension: front: control arm: lower ball joint) in march of 2007.the dealer stated on two occasions that the parts were on back order.as of november 28, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle.the contact felt that the wait to have the recall repaired was excessive.there had been no failure to date.the current mileage was 40,547. 2006 toyota sequoia.
Since at least september of 2009 my 2006 toyota sequoia randomly activates the vehicle stability control system, causing the vehicle to suddenly brake. Total control, including acceleration and steering, is lost for a few seconds.this is occurring each time innon slip driving conditions.the slip indicator light begins to blink, beep, and the vehicle just loses total control.usually occurs upon driving from a stop.i have brought the vehicle to toyota on at least 4 to 5 occasions and have been told each time that they had no codes and could not replicate the problem.this seems to occur atleast once every three weeks to a month.there is no way they can replicate the problem unless they drive the vehicle for a month.i have been told on at least three occasions dating back to october of 2009 that a representative from toyota would contact me, set up an appointment to look at my vehicle, and give me an idea of what may me going on with it.to date i have still not received even a phone call from toyota.when i last brought the vehicle to toyota for this issue (april 24, 2010), i had recently been entering a busy road from a parking lot.the vehicle stability control came on for no reason, the vehicle lost control (acceleration, and steering) and i was in the middle of a busy traffic lane with vehicles coming at me.a vehicle needed to skid and steer out of my lane to avoid striking my drivers side.the vehicle has been brought in to toyota with the same results (2) times in october 2009, (1) time february 2010, (1) time april 2010.the problem has occurred almost once every three weeks.most recently it has occurred 3 times over a two day span.i have stopped bringing it to toyota as they have informed me each time that they can not find a code or replicate the problem.at times they have kept my vehicle over night, and driven it for 50 plus miles.i just can not continue to bring it in and have nothing done.
In clear weather, on dry pavement, the stability/traction control system will periodically cause the vehicle to abruptly loose power, typically when turning into traffic and hitting a manhole or making a turn through a deeper intersection swale.this causes the vehicle to become unresponsive for 4-5 seconds in front of oncoming traffic - a broadside auto accident waiting to happen.i contacted the local toyota dealership which offered no assistance.i would love to be able to disconnect or eliminate this system.
Cold start toyota sequoia '06.put car in gear with foot on brakes and brake, abs and vsc warning lights come on.when releasing foot off brake, the brakes will not functioning correctly.very hard to depress brake and stop.inconsistent on frequency, but it is from a engine cold start. Was told a skid control computer was needed.
The traction control / vehicle stability control initiates at very low speeds on dry and very stable surfaces nearly every turn i make.the loss of power to the wheels have left me stranded in front of on-coming traffic during left turns and nearly rear-ended on right hand turns.it appears the 2003 toyota sequoia's have been recalled for a similar problem: overly aggressive traction controlwhen the vehicle loses power to the wheels it takes 4-5 seconds for the power to be restored and i have had several close calls with respect to being hit by other vehicles.*ln
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled after turning left and driving over a small bump in the road. The contact attempted to accelerate and depressed the accelerator pedal; however the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop for inspection. The failure was related to the traction control system. The repair shop stated that the traction control system activated when it was not necessary. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.
Almost every time i go over a bump or dip at 2-3 mph the traction control light comes up, the vehicle slows down and i am unable to accelerate for a few seconds, then all comes back to normal. It happens every day and a few times i nearly got in the accident due to unexpected slow down.
When making left or right turns at slow speed, traction control light blinks, sometimes with beep alarm and sometimes engages the abs system. Very dangerous when pulling out into traffic to not be able to accelerate since you lose control of driving the vehicle for about 3-5 seconds.
Lower ball joint failure, causing the driver side tire to break off at low speed on a residential street.
The frame of the body of the toyota is rusting very bad. For only having the car three years buying this as a certified car, the body shouldn't be this bad. I'll also be opening up a case with toyota.
My 16 year old son was locked in the jeep unable to get out in a 90 degree weather. On july 1st the jeep was parked on a city street in bridgeport new jersey. I came out the vehicle then locked the door from the outside and hurried to bring a bag with food inside even though passengers were still exiting the vehicle. My son was not ready to exit the vehicle and the door was shut closed. Later he tried to exit the jeep and every time he tried to open the jeep door, the door would lock and the alarm who off. He did this quite a few time and was unable to exit the jeep. He had to call someone on his cellphone to his aid. This was a terrifying experience. Why did this happened? is this a defect? what is the next step that i have to take?
I have purchased the vehicle a year ago. I happen to look at the carfax today and realize the carfax has more mileage then what is on the odometer.
Secondary injection pump failure. Dealership says very common problem and cost would be roughly $3000.00. No offer to help, but same problem as 07-10 tundras and sequoias. Trk off, check engine, etc. Brakes not optimal. Long running problem with toyota trucks. 96 k miles and well maintained. Wouldn't be upset if it wasn't such a highly reported failure.happened upon startup with loud sucking noise for roughly 30 seconds and all lights concerning engine came on.
Rear hatch. Rear hatch handle made of plastic. Has broken two times since i have owned the car. Dealer charges $400 each time to replace. Toyota should not make cars with such cheap parts. Cannot get into vehicle.
I almost kill myself, the track off goes when i was driving and my car slide to the right after that all lights on the car went on and the code reader do not work says i can't read the codes no codes on the computer
Vsc trac/vsc off, brake warning lights go on all at once.i have a 2006 toyota sequoia.
My vsc trac, vsc ff and abs light come on. This problem seem to happen on most of the sequoia. The dealer told me it the rate sensor need to be replaced.
Unexplained acceleration at slow speed.once when trying to park, vehicle accelerated and went over curb and into ditch.another time when starting out from a stop sign.took to dealer and they could not find any problems with vehicle.
The contact owns a 2006 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000. Th vin was invalid.
When the vehicle has stopped, it can surge forward a bit.feels like the vehicle behind me has rear ended me.the force of this seems to vary a bit.
Codes c1223 (abs control system malfunction), c1247 (stroke sensor), and c1251 (pump motor is locked/ open circuit fault)had to replace vsc module/computer at my own cost.
Vsc/trac and check engine light on
After putting gas in the vehicle, i pulled away from the gas station and when i came to a stop sign before entering the main thoroughfare the brake pedal was so hard to depress that i almost had to stand on it to get the vehicle to stop, and nearly was unable to before plowing into oncoming traffici also noticed that the "trac off", "vsc trac", and brake malfunction indicator were all illuminated.
Uncontrolled acceleration when using the resume feature in the cruise control.
Vehicle pulls forward when ac is turn on while car is idle with foot on brake pedal.

Abs vsc and brake light comes on sitting still. .and at 30 mph abs system engages for no reasonand no traction issues.
Warning indicator trac off , vsc off, and brake are on with grinding brake noise occurred.
Vehicle rear window and rear wiper failure.began this activity at 10,000 miles, on an intermittent basis and each time in dealership service dept., they could not recreate the problem while still in the sign in area, so no record of complaint was entered on vehicle information.window and wiper last operated july 2008, at approximately 35000 miles; however, as this has been a very dry summer and fall, use of the equipment has not been required therefore the failure went undiscovered until approximately november 2008.at dealership, during oil change 12/13/08, attempts to address concern were meager at best.this has been an ongoing problem with this service department, and lack of documentation is toyota's only defense in refusing to fix this problem.they have determined that they have spent more than enough time on it "for free" and will not do anything else until i pay for it.the lack of documentation shows that they have a breakdown in their business practice and this issue is now unresolved.
2006 sequoia at 42k started experiencing a problem related to rear window, rear defrost, and rear wiper failure.checked fuses associated with this issue and they are fine.when the car initially starts they appear to work and then fail a few seconds after it starts. The car is currently out of warranty so dealer would not be interested in helping resolve this.
