Vsc vsc traction control lights comes on as well as the check engine light. The vehicleaccelerates poorly. This makes for a very dangerous situation because the vehicle can slow dramatically at highway speeds. Lights go off for a little while when the battery is disconnected but all lights and acceleration problems return shortly. Owners have spent thousands of dollars replacing parts without a long term fix. Spouse will no longer drive the vehicle because of this dangerous problem. Totoya needs to fix this widespread problem.

Letter from senator nelson on behalf of constituent re 2005 toyota sequoia air bag recall.the dealer informed the consumer, the air bags for his make and model, were not available and had to be manufactured. No time was given, as to when the air bags would become available.

I received a recall notice for the airbag as part of the large recall notice.i took the truck in for a replacement part and the dealer did not have the part at the time.it has been 2 months and still no part or any idea whenone will be available.i now have a vehicle that is limited in its use and can not sell, due to the liability of the new owner not following the recommendation to not use the passenger seat.seems like if a recall is initiated there should be a timely resolution.

Takata recall. Called a local toyota dealer months ago who told me they would call when parts are available. Still waiting for a call. This airbag situation is dangerous and greatly limits the use of this vehicle as spouse will no longer drive it and i am able to use it on a limited basis. I know there is a backlog but nhtsa needs to force toyota to fix these defective vehicles.

In october of 2020, i scheduled an appointment for my airbag recalls at my local toyota dealer (lia toyota of colonie). My appointment was on october 22, 2020. After devoting a day to this, i was dismayed to learn that my vehicle could not be repaired because the parts were backordered. They said they would let me know when the parts were in. Several weeks went by, and i heard nothing. Then, i get a cryptic message from someone in their parts department, and gave me a number to call back. When i called the number, a man answered who said it was not lia toyota, and that he'd been getting a lot of calls from people thinking they were calling lia toyota. (the dealership did pick up when i called the number, and it was when i entered the choice to speak with the service department that the phone system then transferred me to some individual's mobile phone!) so, i then had to try a different route to contact the dealership and find out what was happening. This led to several calls where no one really knew what was happening.i finally got my original service manager to research the situation, and he said the parts were still on back order. Fast forward to december 15, 2020, and i texted their service department who informed me that 1 part was in, but another was still backordered. I then texted them today (jan 29) and they said the parts were now in. So i am fairly certain that no one was ever going to follow up with me to notify me of this. It's been 3.5 months, and customers' safety does not seem important to either toyota or lia toyota of colonie. I own several businesses, and customers' valuable time does not seem important to them either. I shouldn't have to work this hard to get a recall repair done.

Toyota issued a recall based upon a front passenger airbag issue.we had an appointment to fix the recall but toyota says they are prohibited from doing the work.they have the part in stock.they do not have anyone on a waiting list.i want our car fixed.we have had to rearrange a trip taken in early september because of the recall and inability to have it fixed.we are following your recommendation that we do not use the front seat.we have been inconvenienced on a daily basis because we can not transport 7 people as we customarily do for school purposes.we have now had the additional burden and cost to rearrange two long distant trips at the end of this year because we can not use the car to carry people as it was designed.i understand there must be alot of cars to fix.i utilize mine in the manner of transporting 7 or a family of 4 with dogs and luggage. I do not understand why the recall can not be taken care of in an expeditious manner if the part is in stock and no one else is waiting for such a recall repair. Please explain why a loyal customer who purchased the vehicle for its designed purpose can not get your (problem) recall on the vehicle fixed immediately when parts are not only available but in stock at our local dealer? i want the full use of my vehicle.i do not want to be inconvenienced further.toyota has always gone the extra mile and earned our loyalty but if this is making no sense and causing grief and frustration.

Have received at least two recall letters from toyota advising that this vehicle has been included in takata air bag recall, however, because it is not in one of the high humidity areas, toyota will not replace the air bag. The recall had affected toyota sequoia model year 2002 to 2007, my model year is 2005.now that the nhtsa has forced the auto makers to be realistic; toyota magically redefines the toyota sequoia model years as only 2002 and 2003 toyota sequoia. I believe this to be very underhanded.if i had moved to gulf coast area with my 2005 sequoia, then my vehicle would be repaired with a new air bag module; because i live in a non-gulf coast area, the very same vehicle is not involved in a nationwide recall.very disingenuous!!i was under the impression that nhtsa actions were to force the automakers to expand the recall of these takata airbags, not narrowly focus the recall to two model years from six model years. I imagine that is considerable initial savings for toyota.i believe nhtsa should investigate how several model years get removed from nationwide recall list, appears that other manufacturers are actually expanding their takata air bag recall to cover a wider range of vehicles and making it nationwide.

2005 toyota sequoia.consumer writes in regards to passenger side airbag recall.the dealer informed the consumer, the part was on back order.

This has been going on since april 2010, its now november 2010 with no resolution. My 2005 toyota sequoia trac off, vsc trac, check engine lights and abs lights keep coming on. Brought into the dealer three times while the lights were on so the dealer could put it on the computer. No codes show up. I am told that it's not covered even though we have the toyota certified bumper to bumper warranty.they recalled the 2003 for the same problem. They need to do the same for the 05. Repair cost for this is $2200.00.

I received a letter from toyota 2 weeks ago indicating the safety recall with the front passenger air bag inflators which were incorrectly manufactured and have the potential to fatally injure the passenger in the event they are deployed in an accident.to date, huntington toyota of long island has not received the necessary parts to complete the repair for the recall and they have no idea when they will have the parts.i purchased an suv because i obviously had a need for more seats and room.i use my truck daily transporting my children and their friends to various functions, otherwise i would have gotten a smaller vehicle.so toyota's suggestion to vehicle owners to not use the passenger seat, is unacceptable.i am requesting that the necessary parts for this airbag be immediately sent to huntington toyota for my vehicle.i have 3 toyota vehicles and have been a long time customer, but if this matter is not rectified to my satisfaction, i will no longer consider toyota vehicles for future purchase.

I have owned my 2005 toyota sequoia for a couple of years and recently my srs light came on, then my cruise control quit working, and recently horn quit working. These all took place in a matter of a few weeks. After diagnosing the issue with my mechanic, it was determined that my spiral cable/clock spring failed. This vehicle is only 6 years old, and i am now driving without a horn or air bag protection, until i can save ~$350 to get it replaced. This is a high risk item and should have a longer life expectancy.

Brake lights have been coming on and off for about three months.on 05/6/12 the engine began making a whining noise which sounded like the fan. Turned on and off the car three times and the whining sound went away.next day same problem then the check engine, vsc track &trac off lights came on.took it to toyota dealer who is quoting a price of $3k to fix.i am noticing quite a number of these same complaints is this a recall issue for toyota?

Vsc trac, abs and brake alerts light up on dash board, noise when vehicle is initially turned on, the noise disappears after a few minutes but the alerts stay on. The vehicle also loses power (but the engine keeps running, just no power to accelerate) if i make a quick turn, loss of power lasts for a few seconds then turns back on.

I was on my way home from work when the engine light came on for a few seconds then disappeared. Two days later the engine light came on again and the vehicle started to ride rough like it need a tune-up. The engine light disappeared and the vehicle drove fine until i reached home. The engine light, vsc off and vsc trac all came on and the vehicle was riding really rough. I took it to firestone so they could look at but they couldn't figure out the problem. So i took it to toyota so they could fix the problem. They thought it was carbon build up around the cylinders, so they cleaned all eight cylinders but that didn't work. I still had to pay for it. The finale solution was for them to tear down the engine. They claimed that piston #3 wasn't working at its full capacity after running a compression test but they're not 100% sure. The cost for them to take the head off would be $862 and another $862 to put it back together plus what ever real problem is. The service guy at toyota said that he has seen three similar problems like this and it cost the customer around $3000. My dvd player wasn't working so the tech tested it and stated that power was going to it and that it should work. Three weeks later the dvd player worked but now my back window didn't. When i push the button for the back window the back wiper comes on.

Driving on the highway and took an exit.slowed down and turned the steering wheel.the vsa and trac lights came on, the car lost power for several seconds, pushing the gas pedal didn't do anything for several seconds and eventually, heard a loud noise as if the engine was re-engaging and then some grinding noise and the car was back to "normal" driving condition.since the first incident, has happened several times over again.very dangerous considering there were cars behind me and could have ran into me.similar experience pulling into a parking lot.made a left turn and the car just stopped.people were honking behind me and the car would not move.had to turn the ignition off and then back on to make it work again.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph and approaching a traffic stop. As the contact engaged the brakes, the transmission began to jerk with hesitation. In addition, the vsc off, vsc trac, check engine and brake warning indicators were illuminated. The warning indicators remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where they advised that both the vsc computer and transmission were defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Brake light, vsc light, low tire pressure light, abs light, and one other light come on when it's cold.they go off when it's above 40 or so degrees.replaced brakes and fixed parking brake (drove with it on because i got so used to ignoring all of the lights).lights were off for about a week.21 degrees out today and all the lights are back on.will call toyota and discuss why i just spent $900 and the lights are still coming on.*tw

Our 2005 toyota sequoia limited has had several problems since the day we brought it home.however, we recently had an electrical failure and it was the second such event. My wife, mother-in-law and our 2 small children(ages 3 and 1) were in the car and while moving the car just stopped. It would not accelerate, pushing the gas pedal did nothing, the check engine light was on along with the vsc lights. My wife could only let the car coast to a safe stopping point and there was a distinct burning smell at that time.had this problem happened on the freeway where they had just been moments before, i hate to think what would have happened to them. My wife called the dealer and was told to have the car towed. The car was taken to the dealer where it has been now for 3 weeks. In that three weeks we have had several different stories on what is wrong with the vehicle. We were told that the manufacturer had been called in and that no one had ever seen this problem before except on our vehicle when it happened the last time.we sent letters to the service advisor, service manager, service director and manufacturer. We feel this vehicle is unsafe and we wanted them to tell us in writing what happened, why it happened, what they did to fix it, why this vehicle has had so many other problems also, and why we should feel safe with our family in this vehicle. We were told by the manufacturer that we would have all of those answers in writing and we would receive a phone call from their customer relations manager. Neither thing ever happened. In the last week, the story has changed every 24 hours. And we were even told that someone from the manufacturer came to get the old parts for further diagnosis. They are saying the car is fine and ready to take home. But we have not been provided any answers in writing, they wont tell us who made the decision that the car is fine now, they keep using terms like could not duplicate. Now, we don't feel safe putting our family in this car.

Vsc/trac control/ check engine dash warning lights come on and will not reset. Have had the vehicle at two different toyota dealers and they cannot find the proplem. They want me to pay them to go into the motor to find the problem. Have found several complaints on line about the same issue.

I started my car and drove off, and i noticed the vsc trac lights stayed on. The vehicle appears to drive fine, but the vsc trac lights stayed on. Upon doing my own research online i discovered that many sequoia owners have experienced the same issue, but toyota has refused to do a recall. This issue with vsc trac is a huge safety concern. Through my research i discovered that the vehicle could lose power at any time, and many owners state they hear a grinding noise as the vehicle pulls to the right or left.

Brake warning light comes on periodicaly. Vsc light shows on and off. All three lights come on and off. Traction control is activated without warning. I am reluctant to take in to the shop, since many of the compaints have spent much $$ and no results. This is very similar to the issue the 2003 models were having, which toyota recalled the problem. This needs to be addressed on all models and all years that are affected. This vehicle is used by my wife and three kids. It is stressful knowing that this vehicle could potentially harm my family.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact, who was an independent mechanic, stated that the battery did not charge and the abs indicator remained illuminated. The mechanic diagnosed and replaced the alternator, and reprogrammed the computer system. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was repaired, but the abs indicator remained illuminated.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My rear hatch quit 48 months after purchase.first the rear defrost/wiper/window quit soon followed by the hatch not opening at all.the issue lies with the inadequate 360 degree sealing of the rear hatch itself.several issues have resulted from the inadequate seal:water coming in under the hatch and mold forming inside the vehicle.dust comes in the vehicle while driving on dirt roads.night driving is especially difficult due to the rear wiper and defrost not working.every 03-05 owner i speak with has an issue with the rear hatch and the internet forums are endless.

2005 toyota sequoia - following gauge lights came on: check engine, vtrac.vehicle made did not sound right while idling, and was not accelerating correctly (in limp mode).took to mechanic.the air pump broke apart and went into the induction system. Very expensive repair.this is known issue with this make/model and year but was not under recall?

Vsc trac lightson 2005 toyota sequoia are on. Will be bringing car to dealership inthe morning.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While driving approximately 25 mph henoticed that the defrost, windshield wiper and the rear window were not working. The power rear window would not open and close. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who repaired the vehicle. Four to five months later, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for the identical failure and it was repaired again. The failure recurred 6 to 7 months later and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired since it was no longer under warranty. The estimated repair cost was $800. The contact was advised that the dealer was pressing a button and shutting the rear hatch with force as a repair option. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that there was an electrical short that was causing the failure. The vin was not available.the approximately failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 106,000.

Rust developed on rear driver side under fender.rear window glass malfunctioned and would not come down.

The yaw rate sensor is defective. This causes the vsc trac to engage and slows the vehicle right away, also causes power failure in the aspect of when it engages engine slows and can ever shut off.

My vsc trac, vsc off comes on all the time and don't go away. This appears to be a manufacture issue.

I was leasing an 2005 sequoia through southeast toyota.i purchased the vehicle 6 months ago and at the time it was certified.since i have had the vehicle i experienced the brake light going on and off.it never stayed on long enough to take it in to be checked out and would often go away after the car was turned off and then on again.recently, the check engine, vsc trac and trac off lights came on and remained lit after the car was started - the brake light would also continue to come on after driving and would not always come back on after the car was turned off and started back up again.i took my sequoia into the closest dealer and was told that i needed a skid control ecu #89541-0c070 ($2206), master cylinder pressure sensor #89637-0c020 ($477.86) and a knock sensor bank 2 #89615-06010 #17171-50030 ($741).my research has showed that i am not the only vehicle owner with this problem.the service department has confirmed with me that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle; however, because the sensors are malfunctioning, my abs and trac is not working.i have called toyota corporate.they were only willing to help me out with approx 20% of the cost.i made my first call yesterday.i called again to day and was told that i should hear back from a manager by 6pm pst tomorrow.an investigation needs to be started on this problem.

The rear door has continued to have issues repeatedly.the handle to open the rear door broke once and had to be replaced in order to open the door.the rear wiper has stopped working severall times, and the window in the rear door has stopped working multiple times despite repeated repairs.

About a month ago, beginning of march, the engine light, vsc trac light, trac off light, are all lite up when i turn on the engine. A week later, those light go off and on all the time and it still does it. From what i know, the trac off & vsc trac has something to do with the brake and i don't feel safe to drive in it. I went online and search to my problems and apparently, alot of people have the same problem as i do. Toyota need to have this recall and fix this problem to all their customers who have this problem.

Vsc, trac off, and emergency brake lights all stayed on after car was started.for the next week or so they would go off then come back on and then stayed on continually.i took it to my dealership on june 16, 2012 and they said the skid control computer needed replaced and they had to order the part.on june 19, 2012 they replaced this part at a charge of $1013.56.on june 22, 2012 all these lights have again come on.i was told at the time of the initial diagnosis there had been a bulletin issued about this issue.i ask why it wasn't recalled if it was a known safety issue and they just said it was a bulletin not a recall.

My wife turned the vehicle on and all warning lights came on and stayed on. This is the 3rd time this has happened.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle had a sudden loss of power. Also, the vehicle stalled while making left and right turns and various warning indicators illuminated. Initially, the dealer (principle toyota, 7370 winchester rd, memphis, tn 38125, (877) 217-4003) was unable to replicate the failure, so it continued to progress and various warning indicators remained illuminated, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Vscvsc traction control lights came on as well as the check engine light. The vehicle was accelerating poorly. The dealer replaced the air injection control drivers and then all of thewarning lights were off.the following day all of the warning lights were back on again and the vehicle was accelerating poorly again. I returned the vehicle to the dealer and i was told that another repair was needed now. The air pump set needs to be replaced for $1,700.00. Thousands of sequoia owners have reported this problem but toyota has not issued a recall.

Vsc trac off, the vehicle looses power completely and there is a grinding noise. My wife was driving on the interstate and lost power. Luckily, she was not in traffic. Restarted and made it home. The vsc trac offlights are still on. Very dangerous if the vehicle loosed power completely driving 70 mph on the interstate.

The vsc, trak light and abs lights came on which in turn made the check engine light come on.they stay on continually.at first no code could be found.then dealer stated that the ecu had to be replaced as well as air pump - both totalling over $3000.this is not the only sequoia to have this happen.other years have been recalled so why not the 2005 - or any other year since it seems to be an issue.i emailed and talked to toyota.they have not heard of this problem and can not help with it's solution.last toyota i'll have.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.the brake lights, check engine light, and vcs track light illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately nine times.the dealer replaced the brake booster the first time, checked the emissions and cleared the codes the second time, cleared the code the third time, replaced the fuel filter neck the fourth time, and replaced the brake booster again the fifth time.while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed and the dealer replaced the computer skid control.the current mileage was 20,000 and failure mileage was 6,802.

While driving my vehicle on the highway to work, my brake warning light on the dash came on. I pulled over cut the truck off then back on, the light was gone. The next day driving home from work, it was pouring down rain and the brake warning light came on again, along with the trac and vsc warning lights. I was only driving about 25 mph since i was in the city and not on the highway yet. I pulled over cut the truck off and then back on, the lights were out, but within another mile they were back on.i avoided the highway since my brakes were having problems and it was pouring rain. The next day they were off so i drove back to work but when i was on the way home they all came back on, this time it was the afternoon and not raining so i took it to the toyota dealership. They ran the codes and said my codes were c1247 stroke sensor and c136 master press sensor - they said this was part of a skid control ecm that controlled my antilock braking system! very scary to think my brakes were not functioning properly. I was told it could be fixed for $1042.82 and may also need to replace the master cylinder at $715.85. When i looked up the problem online i found that this was very common failure with 2003-05 models and that toyota had already recalled the 2003 problem. My service tech said that he was not aware this was a common problem, although there is a service bulletin out for it. I was very scared to drive, but the tech said that my brakes still worked but that the anti lock braking system will not stop "on a dime" but will skid or slide. When i asked to speak to the service manager (all were on vacation) i spoke with the lead tech on shift, who told me alot of what i read online was junk and there was no recall on my 2005 sequoia but he gave me a number to toyota complaint department:1-800-331-4331.i have not driven my vehicle since taking it home that day.

The brake light constantly goes on and off.trac off, vsc trac and check engine lights all come on.a loud rattling noise coming from the front end of vehicle and vibration.engine will not accelerate randomly while driving and the trac control light goes on at the same time. This is a huge safety issue especially when you are turning in an intersection. I almost got hit. This needs to be corrected before someone gets hurt or killed. The dealer wants me to pay over $2000 to repair. I am a single mother of 2 that just lost her job. This is the same issue that came about in the 2003 toyota sequoia recall. We need this fixed!!

As i started driving the car my vsc off vsc trac and brake light when on when i tried to brake it made a terrible sound as i continued to press on the brake it made a hssssssing sound like air was coming out i got home and googled the problem i guess im not the only one toyota is aware of problem but will not fix 2003 was fix but the rest aren'ti did call toyota and filed a complaint and the told me they couldn't do anything about itwas up to me and my responsibility if its an ongoing problem and very dangerous toyota should recall i know have it with an experience mechanic and will hopefully get results soon.

Trac off, vsc trac and brake light on. All three lights come and go at will. I had simlar problem during warranty. For last 2 years it has come and gone. But this time it is more on than off for last 10 days.

Abs system would engage as vsc skid control light and brake light appears. System would reset after ignition was turned off and restarted. Mishap occurred several times on dry, smooth road surface at a low rate of speed with minimal pressure on brake pedal. I took car to dealer for repair. They replaced skid control ecu. Car repeated symptoms on my way home. I took it back to the dealer. They replaced brake booster. Car is working normally now.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the brake lights illuminated on theinstrumental panel. The failure recurred intermittently. The contact took her vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing and was advised that the skid control was defective and needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 19,000. The current mileage was 86,000. Updated 08/27/14*ljupdated 09/2014

Loss of abs system, vsc & traction control on interstate at high rate of speedbarely avoided collisions.unsafe.vsc/abs/e brake light all on.

Vsc (vehicle skid control), trac (traction control), brake lights came on.this is a 2005 model year toyota sequoia with approximately 41,000 miles on the odometer.vehicle has never been in an accident and has been garaged since new.dealer says computer needs replaced, approximately $1,000 to replace.vsc/trac/brake light problems are well documented in 1st generation sequoias (2001-2007 model years).read about problems on www.tundrasolutions.com.

While driving straight down the street, i heard a grinding sound and all of the vsc trac warning lights came on. After stopping and restarting the car, the car behaved normal again. This is the second occurrence. I'm presuming that the grinding noise might be the brakes pulsating. It is not safe for the brakes to automatically apply themselves during safe driving conditions.

The vsc / skid controller is not operating properly. My daughter took the 2005 sequoia sr5 to the dealer. A diagnostic test indicated that the skid control logic circuit was bad. The dealer offered to replace the computer for $2700.00i declined the repair because of the price for the repair. I bought this truck last year (2008) and this is the first problem that i have encountered. This is a safety item that toyota should correct before some one gets seriously hurt.

The vsc computer on my 2005 toyota sequoia failed and when i looked for help in the auto club i found out that this appear to be a common problem with sequoias.

I get constant warning lights for brake, vsc and trac. This is a very common problem with the sequoia. It shuts down those safety features.

2005 toyota sequoia sr5. My vsc trac light, abs, brake, lights come on periodically for no reason.i have read many others have the same problem.

While driving my 2005 toyota sequoia the brake light and vsc trac lights come on for no reason. I took my car to the dealership to get it repaired and they tightened the emergency brake. 5 minutes down the road it came back on, so i took the car back and they said it needed a new brake computer system, so we replaced it, that evening the lights came on again and now they are saying i need a new power brake booster. I don't think they know what is goingon, one of the guys admitted he knew this was a problem but b/c not enough people have complained their has not been a recall. So the car is still not fixed and we worry about our families safety.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Vsc trac---vsc--check engine light--and then problems with acceleration!!

Check engine light on. Vsc trac light on.vsc trac off lighton.mechanic checked codes and replaced #6 coil as well as replacing spark plugs. Drove it home and all lights came on again. Vehicle in motion when lights appeared city street, highway , gravel lights on.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated. In addition, the vsc track off and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.

Within the first two weeks, after purchasing the vehicle, the "brake" light, "vsc trac" light, and "trac off" light came on and there was a terrible grinding sound when attempting to stop.it was very hard to stop but luckily i was in a parking lot when it happened the first time.the "brake" light has continued to come on multiple times per week since may of 2015 and the other two lights still come on occasionally. In fact, on my 800 foot drive back from picking up my lunch today, the "brake" light was on.each time the other 2 come on, it causes the breaks to grind and it is very hard to stop.there was just over 120,000 miles on the vehicle at purchase.i have read numerous forums online stating issues with this model, 2004, and 2003 models for the same issue but toyota has refused to do a recall and expects customers to pay for something is obviously an issue throughout these particular models.i think something needs to be done about this issue.i believe it is a safety concern toyota needs to be responsible for!!!

The vsc off, vsc trac and the brake lights comes on intermittently and sometimes even make weird noises.took it to the dealer way back when the car was only a few months old for a couple of times but of course, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So now that the car is much older and the light is on almost constantly and i found this site so i want to put in a complain hoping toyota would listen and take care of their customers.

While applying the brakes there is a grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle with a shudder and the vsc, trac off and brake lights come on and stay on.this has happened several times recently.also the brake light will come on at random times.everything resets when the ignition is turned off.when the vehicle shudders it does not seem to be slowing down.i have checked the toyota web site and they do not show any recalls.also i have checked on-line and there are several people that seem to be having the same problem.this is a very unsafe problem and i feel that toyota needs to fix this with a recall.they are aware of the problem and it isvery expensive fix.

Vsc and abs lights are going on after horrible shuttering sound from front of vehicle. My wife has experienced this four times on a major highway and we are concerned about safety. I had recently experienced this last weekend. There is a sudden loss of control of the vehicle being aware of the emergency brake is the only way to stop this vehicle.toyota has many complaints about this and they need to recall this problem before someone gets rear ended on a highway.

Vsc, trac, abs and brake lights would all come on a once.they would usually reset after on the next start.it has progressed over the past year to the lights staying on most of the time and only occasionally resetting to off. I have no abs or stability control due to this malfunction.even with the lights on, there were no codes on system when i went to the dealer.they recommend replacing the skid control ecu which is very expensive.this seems to be a very common problem.

Occasionally, when the vehicle is in motion on a city street or hyway, the vsc trac sensor lights turning on and off and hearing grinding noise when it auto-engage and disengage and the vehicle loses power and slows down.

A couple of days ago, when i was driving on the highway, my sequoia suddenly stopped accelerating. Trac light and vsc light and check engine light came on.my speed would not go above 40mph and would not even brake.i was in the left lane and the cars behind me were going pretty fast and almost hit me.i am lucky there was no car in the right lane, so i pulled to that lane just in time.it was a scary moment for me because my kids were with me also.i always thought of toyota of having safety in their cars, but when i came home to research what might be happening to the car, i found out many people are having the same exact problem and thus it is a manufacturers problem.i am suprised toyota is not doing anything about this.do they not care of the safety of the consumers? the milage on my sequoia is only 39,000 and i do not drive it too often, and also have maintained it very well.we spend so much money on this car and this vehicle really was not worth it if it came with so many factory defaults.please follow-up on this issue to have it resolved.

Vsc trac, vsc off, brake, abs lights... All on, all at once. This has happened several times now. It comes on for a couple of days and then resets itself no codes found. This time it came on again and limited the speed to about 35mph while my wife was driving on a major highway. She was able to get it back home safely thank goodness. I have been reading about similar cases for this model and do not know what to do.please help. We have just had it serviced about a month ago for timing belt replacement etc. This is my wife's primary vehicle and i can't afford to put any more money in this. Is there a recall for this with so many cases of the same issue i have read about?

My vehicle's traction control light was coming on periodically, and when that would happen the engine would cut out, & i would not be able to accelerate.i took it in to get it repaired.after the repairs i was driving at about 20 mph, and as i was breaking to turn a corner the abs, vbs, brake and traction control lights came on.my breaks made a grinding noise, the car began to shake, there were no breaks or steering control, and the engine cut out.this was very dangerous as i had no control and was on a city street in front of a park with children, and i had my son with me. Luckily i wasn't going very fast as the speed limit is 25 mph, and i was approaching the park and my street to turn on to. I was able to get stopped by hitting a curb but couldn't get control of the vehicle otherwise.

When backing out of garage and applying brakes, the abs motor was heard and then the brake light came on. Then the vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights came on. The brake pedal felt mushy so a visit to dealer was made. The concern was addressed with service, and they came back with : "test drove car and inspected brakes. Found dtc's c1223, c1244, c1247, c1310. Provided estimate for updated skid control ecu @ $905 + tax". As the customer, i declined to schedule. Then during a past winter storm, backing out of driveway again, the same thing occurred. Very concerned that this braking system is defected in any wet/snowy/ice weather. I have had to divert to driving my 1998 honda accord in snow instead of the sequoia. I am very concerned driving this sequoia with my kids in car and braking at anytime. I feel an updated software/logic in ecu or an updated skid control ecu is valid enough to say they have a known issue that is 'safety' related, and toyota should buck up covering this as warranty. I have contacted toyota motor sales, usa, inc. And my case is filed at their headquarter office under my name and file #[xxx]. They stated their is no customer compliance issued recall/bulletin or warranty available to cover my concern due to its age and mileage. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vsc trac warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,008.

The vsc trac, vsc off, brake, and abs lights all come on all at once. This has happened numerous times since i first bought the used suv in may 2013. It worries me as i am on the freeway not knowing what will happen. Not sure how this will affect my vehicle in the long run. It normally comes on when i drive the vehicle for more than one hour at a crawling speed. For example, there have been times the freeway hits a rush hour moment and everyone will start rolling/crawling with their vehicles. As this happens, the lights will come on at least two times in a 30 minutes to one hour time frame.

When making a right hand turn at moderate speed the anti skid light comes on and the car looses power through the turn ... Usually in neighborhood situations, but i have experienced it on interstate on ramps requiring a left turn followed by a gradual right banking turn.

Vsc/abs skid control ecu failure, the problems we have observed since this has occurred and after 3 times of taking the car into the dealership we have been told the ecu is failing? 1. The car actually froze up2. Instrument panel lights remained illuminated.3. The brakes failed on one occasion and quickly came back, but made metal grinding noise. 4. At various times the abs kicked in even though the brakes were not applied5. Suv did not properly respond to brake or steering6. The car occasionally thinks that we are skidding out of control and begins pulsating the brakes7. While backing out of the driveway thebrakes engaged.if you google toyota sequoia and ecu or vsc or abs you will not many people have complained about this issue.in all instances stopping and restarting the car has reset the lights and the issue went away.

Our brake indicator light on dash comes on intermittently since mid 2008.we've taken to the local toyota dealer 3x to diagnose. On the third visit, the service rep said the skid control computer needs to be replaced.he said when light is on, the antilock brakes will not work, nor the stability control.the estimate to replace is $2425 installed for a new skid control computer.we know of at least two of our friends that are having the identical problem. This is obviously a faulty computer and a safety issue and needs to be recalled asap.

The brake light constantly goes on and off. Trac off, vsc trac and check engine lights all come on. A loud rattling noise coming from the front end of vehicle and vibration when starting up the vehicle. Engine will not accelerate randomly while driving and the trac control light goes on at the same time. I first experienced this while going up a mountain and needed to turn around because my vehicle started to decelerate even with the gas completely floored.i noticed that there are a lot of complaints for the same issue.is toyota waiting for a death to happen before they do something.this is a family vehicle and i'm transporting my 2 and 5 year old.something needs to be done about this before something tragic happens!!

Check engine and vsc off / vsc trac lights keep coming on.have been reset but keep coming on after a few days to a week.now maint req. Light is coming on as well.also experiencing excessive idle speed which causes brakes to feel like they do not fully work.

I noticed the vsc trac lights stayed on. The vehicle appears to drive fine for a while, then loses power. Dealer could not find any codes and reset it. How it does it all the time mostly about the 2 or 3 day after unhooking the battery. After doing my own research online i discovered that many sequoia owners have experienced the same issue, but toyota has refused to do a recall. This issue with vsc trac is a huge safety concern. Through my research i discovered that the vehicle could lose power at any time, and many owners state they hear a grinding noise as the vehicle pulls to the right or left. They recalled the 2003, what about us, a friend had a new computer epu put in at $3000 and did it again in 6 months...toyota knows about this and other problems...we need a recall or have it fixed.

When turning corners in motion, the traction control light illuminates causing a loss of braking and acceleration. There is now way to control the vehicles acceleration/deceleration until the light goes off. Typically last about 3-5 seconds. This happens frequently every time the vehicle is driven.

Problem with 2005 toyota sequoia electronic stability control. While driving the vehicle on the highway the check engine light, vsc trac light, and vsc off light came on. Vehicle instantly lost power and torque converter would not lock up. Vehicle lost speed in traffic very quickly and had extreme difficulty going up an incline. Since the first instance it has happened about six times. Disconnecting battery clears issue temporarily. Many others with vehicle have had same issue and toyota has a tsb on the issue but will not recall or cover several $k cost. Problem still arises after vsc computer replacement for some people. Prior years had recalls for same issue, but they ignore the 2005 model year. Issue could be life threatening on public roads with sudden loss of all power and stability control.

3 incidents in the last 90days, each one while the vehicle was in motion between 15-40mph with 5 passengers and in traffic.on each occasion, the brakes suddenly engaged, causing a loud bang/thunk sound followed by a severe shake in the vehicle. Speed & control was drastically reduced to the point of being uncontrollable.within seconds, the vsc trac, vsc off, brake and maintenance lamps illuminated.vehicle was very difficult to drive, as if the brakes were fully engaged. After pulling over, we shutdown the vehicle and let it sit ashort period of time, on restarting, all lamps were on, the vehicle was drive-able however, the brakes we still being applied but slightly allowing the vehicle to move but on release of the accelerator, the vehicle slowed rapidly. After dropping off vehicle to a local non-dealer service center on each of the first 2 incidents, the codes were no-longer active and the shop indicated that nothing could be done unless the codes were active again.research indicates the 2003-04 had skid control computer recall, reflashing/reprogramming the computer but only a tsb was issued on the 2005 model year. After the third incident, the most severe, we went to a toyota dealer. They confirmed the recall & the tsb.in discussions with the service advisor's and technicians, they both reported that they have had numerous 2005 models with the same issue. The dealer informed us that the skid control computer will need to be replaced at a total cost of $1100.however, numerous posts on online blogs & forums indicate the problem persists even after the skid control computer was replaced.we are lucky that this event did not result is an accident as we were in traffic and vehicles behind us would not expect our vehicle to suddenly brake causing them crash into us at full speed.this is a severe known safety issue and toyota should issue a recall.

Brake light indicator intermittently came on over several months (jan - may 2011) and at various speeds. Sometimes at startup, other times at hwy speed.since fluid was full and clean, did not take car in right away.mentioned to dealer at 60k mi. Svc to diagnose.toyota dealer diagnosed the source of the problem was a malfunctioning "electronic skid computer."cost $122 to diagnose and $1120 to replace.i understand this computer controls the stability control and abs systems, so it is a potential safety hazard.

My mother owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. I'm not sure how this works but it is only four years old and the brake light comes on then the skid control comes one. When she took it to the toyota dealer they told her that their was a service bulletin for this and that it was a well known issue with the 2003-2005 models. If im not mistaken congress passed a law stating that all vehicles starting with a certain year has to come with stability control. Toyota knows this is a problem and an expensive problem. They want a little over three grand to fix it. I would understand if this was a random event but this is a safety issue and it is a problem well known to toyota.

Check engine light, vsc trac and break light constantly.

I was told the vehicle control and stability system was off. And is a common issue with this year make and model. Vsc and trac off light keeps coming on. Also secondarily valve stuck closed. P1445 & p1442 codes. Also another known issue for this vehicle year make and model. Toyota is aware but won't fix after certain miles.

I have vsc trac, vsc off, and check engine.if you give it a lot of fuel, it just sounds like it wants to go, but it doesn't translate into power in the rear end. I use my code reader and it showed codes p1441 and p1444.says i may have: a) faulty vacuum switching valve (vsv) for air injection control circuit, b)faulty air switching valve number 2, or c)faulty vsv for air injection system.this is the second time this happened to my sequoia, and this seems to be a recurring issues for toyota sequoia owners and in fact it is a recurring issues for other models as well.this cost me approximately $2200 last time and now 2 years later it is back for another $2200 to repair.it's all the over the internet about this vsc trac, vsc off, and check engine, it needs to be recalled!

Vsc computer failure and engine will not accelerate.

We noticed that our frame had severe rust last winter. (2/14)we always did the regular recommended maintenance. We purchased this new in '05.i'm sure others haven't reported this as they haven't looked for this problem not expecting it from such an expensive vehicle that you would expect to be very reliable.we did put in a claim to toyota last february and we were told that it wasn't a problem that they had many complaints on.i know there were recalls in the past with toyota vehicles that had the tubular frames.this also has a tubular frame.we also have the same problem with vsc and tracking that many others on this site have complained about.

The vsc, the vsc trac and the brake lights all went on.my brakes started to pulse without me doing it.when you turn the car off it re-sets and then will do it again at a later time.

My 2005 toyota sequoia has been having intermittent brake lights coming on and off for months.usually when i would turn the car off the lights would go off- only to return again for no apparent reason.i have brought the car in many times only to hear that the lights have to stay on for good to analyze and or fix it.....a toyota dealership in savannah made this comment on my last full service appt and made the same reply yesterday.yesterday while braking on a clear day at a slow rate of speed at a routine light the brakes made a terrible grinding noise with an almost wreck caused by the this failure and all the brake, abs and vcs lights coming on.today i replaced the skid control computer at a dealership...for a price of one thousand dollars!2 dealerships said this is step one in the problem and that "hopefully" it will not happen again.as the mother of a small child, i am at all happy with this answer as i know this is a real safety issue!!!!!had i been on the highway my child and i might not have made it as all control was lost.i think a recall is needed!!!!!!!!!i have read of many reports of 2005's with the same problem.please contact me.thanks.

The skid control computer on my 2005 toyota sequoia malfunctioned causing low power/low acceleration. The engine has 65,000 miles. Because this part failed, several engine parts malfunctioned. The engine nearly blew up as a result. Toyota recalled 2003-04 models for this same problem, but has only issued a tsb for the 2005 model. The service department at the dealership explained that my engine would not have nearly exploded had the skid computer not been faulty. I filed a complaint with toyota, and they explained that this part is not considered to be a problem in the 2005 model, and will not assist in repairing it. The estimated repair for this is $4000.

While driving, the brake warning light, vsc off light, and vsc trac light all came on.pulled over and shut engine off.restarted the car and lights were initially off but came right back on as soon as i started driving.had advance auto parts hook computer to it, and it isn't throwing a code at all.

While driving at 35mph, the check engine light, vsc off light, vsc trac light, and the emergency brake light all came on at once, and the vehicle stopped accelerating, and i experienced a dramatic decrease in vehicle power.i drove the vehicle home noticing a drastic change in acceleration as the sequoia would not accelerate normally; it would accelerate at a significantly reduced rate, topping out at 35mph on the flats, 30 mph on an incline, i was able to reach 70mph going down hill on a highway.since that day, during start up, the engine makes a high-pitch vacuum noise, which drops off and normal engine sound returns.all dashboard lights are normal, until 10-15 seconds after start, when the vsc off/vsc trac/brake lights all illuminate, and remain on until the engine is turned off and the poor acceleration and decrease power are now the norm.this is a very dangerous safety issue should this happen to someone accelerating out of an intersection, or needing more power on a highway.

Vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights all come on at once.i took the vehicle to my mechanic and he couldn't pull the code as it was off by the time i got there.brakes had good pad left.the light came on 3 times today and went off just as unexpectedly.

Started car and hear a loud whining noise but no lights came on. Within 2 days the whining noise was not heard when starting car but trac off, vsc light, and check engine light were all on. Took the truck to mechanic and he changed the battery and flushed the brake fluid. Lights were off for about 2 more starts of the truck and all lights were back on. Took it back to the mechanic the next day and he kept the truck for 2 days, called toyota and they told him to replace the air injection driver. This was done 12 nov 10 and by 13 nov 10 all lights are back on again and the truck is having issues picking up speed.

Vsc off light keeps appearing on and off. Antilock braking is disable when the light comes on.

Trac off, vsc trac , abs and parking brake lights all came on and stayed on while driving. Vehicle has been doing this intermittently for about a month now on a regular basis. Has done it over the past couple years but maybe once every several months. Resets after vehicle is turned off. Looked up issue on internet and was surprised to find all the posts about this issue and the lack of toyota to recall whatever is causing this issue.

When driving our 2005 toyota sequoia sr5 limited, sometimes while going straight but usually after a turn, the vehicle stability control light (little skidding car icon) flashes on the dashboard and all power is lost - you cannot accelerate. In addition, a severe grinding sound is heard, some of the time, when slowing to turn (not using brake pressure). This stalling has occurred since the vehicle was new. The dealer said it was a defective throttle body and replaced it. This did not solve the problem. Any subsequent time i asked them to check it out, they said they could not find anything wrong. Now it is happening several times a day. This past weekend, alone, we experienced this problem at least 5 times while driving. I, previously, contacted toyota corp. And their response was that they will put my information into their files, but have no reports of any such incidents. However, looking on the internet, the 2003 sequoia was recalled for this same problem. We are concerned that we are going to have a collision, due to a power loss: as when this happens, there is no way to get out of traffic or avoid other vehicles. It is a serious issue that i think toyota is aware of but does not want to address. Looking at several toyota forums on the internet, this is an issue with this vehicle for most owners. It appears that this is an issue that toyota needs to address.

Frequently the stabilization control in my 2005 toyota sequoia activates while turning corners. This virtually shuts the vehicle down for a moment before allowing me to accelerate again. This happens most often when completing turns with a drainage gutter but has also occurred when the road was flat. I have come close to be hit due to this but have avoided a crash thus far. I believe this to be very similar to what is being explained in the 2003 recall but i believed it to be isolated until now.

When accelerating from low speed or stops the sequoia activates the vsc and the traction control system and refuses to accelerate.happens consistently but not consistently enough to know when to expect it.the traction control/skid control light activates for around 5 seconds and then vehicle returns to normal operation.it can be nerveracking.from all my investigation it seems identical to the problems that led to the 2003 sequoia recall.i do believe that this is a significant safety issue.again from my research this is a very common problem among many model years of sequoias.

My 2005 toyota sequoia's electronic stability control began to lose power causing my car to only go around 20mph. This is very dangerous when driving on an interstate at speeds of 65mph and then the warning lights come on and my carjust slows down to about 20 mph in the middle of traffic. The toyota motor corporation needs to address this issue and have a recall on their 2005 toyota sequoia vehicles. They did do a recall on the toyota sequoias for the 2008 - 2010 models with this same problem. I have read that many other owners of 2005 toyota sequoias have had the same problem. I had to have my car towed to the toyota dealership and they said that it would cost around 3,200 to fix. I feel that the toyota motor corporation needs to do a recall and fix this faulty system on their toyota sequoias. Totally frustrated and plan on telling everyone i see driving a sequoia about the problem i have had and tell them they need to consider getting rid of their vehicle.

When cornering on a mountain road at a safe speed; the vsc traction control kicked in; this caused a grinding sound and the traction control light on the dash.caused vehicle to slow down; i pulled over to side of road checked wheels/tires undercarriage nothing found; proceeded to destination did not repeat. Checked online; others have had similar issues.

On my 2005 toyota sequoia, on my dash board the vsc off, vsc trac light came on. When these lights come on there is a computer failure and you could los econtrol. There is a 'service bulletin' dating back to 2003 that toyota is aware of computer failure concerning this issue from what i found out on the websites.

Oyota sequoia 2005 engine light on ,vsc off light and trac vsc light on. These complaints are about this problems http://www.automotiveforums.com/t544406-sequoia_vsc_trac_problem.html,http://www.carcomplaints.com/toyota/sequoia/2003/electrical/vsc_trac_lights_are_on.shtml,here are tons of other complaints on this problem and it is not limited to our year model. If all of the complaints were compiled in one area and presented to the ntsb, i'm sure that toyota would be forced to deal with this issue and correct it. Its a big issue estimatedcost for that around $ 2000 to $ 5000 i don`t know if u investigate or no .i am not going to get this issue repair until i will hear from you .please take it seriously

I experienced a problem with engine warning and vsc trac off lights going on.the check engine light also came on.my family and i were on a trip and our sequoia all of a suddenlost power.it slowed down dramatically even though the engine was fine. It was a very dangerous situation because we were on an interstate where the speed is 70 mph.i also experienced all the brakes making a massive grinding noise while going slow into a restaurant. (the brakes have less than 3000 miles on them.)the parking brake light also comes on periodically.

I have a 2005 toyota sequoia with 56,000 miles on it. Over the past month the dash board brake warning light has started coming on. I took the truck to the dealer last week, sterling mccall toyota in houston, texas. The dealer diagnostics revealed a error code on the computer of c1247 stroke sensor failure. After aday the light came back on. The dealers response was that a $2,300 ecu was required to correct the problem. If you look online there are hundreds and thousands of similar complain on this vehicle.something has to be done!

Car stalls when put in drive and will not drive safely.there is a loud clunk when backing up. Car does not have power getting up hills. Toyota mechanic says there is a bad computer that has been recalled in 2004 models.i

My 2005 toyota sequoia has had issues for the past several years in accelerating. The vehicle does not get engaged and it almost stops moving for a second until the vehicle stability control kicks in. Today the light went off again vsc trac and the problems continue.

Stability control lights, abs lights, and brake lights come on intermittently.abs does not work while lights are on.

2005 sequoia - this is now my 2nd formal complaint. Vehicle has skid control, check engine, brake, ect lights on and multiple times lost braking control in traffic. I took to the dealer 3 times and finally they replaced the ecu ($1000) and assured me that this was the problem. Guess what? problem is back after just a couple months. Now it is said that the brake booster needs replacing($1000). Toyota has recalled this problem on other years but not the 2005. The time is now! this is a very dangerous vehicle for my family with 3 young children, plus it is costing us alot of time and money! toyota.....please try and keep your reputation and help your loyal customers.

2005 toyota sequoia vac trac disengaged lost control / accelerator/brakes/ took auto to repair dealer could not find problem.

At around 51,000 miles the abs and vsc light came on. Lights went out 2 days later. It would come on intermittently about every other month for about 2 days then go out. Took it to my mechanic and he found no codes stored. Now it has 100,00 miles and the light stays on. Took it to a toyota dealer and was told the skid control ecu needs replaced. Was told it was a common problem for my year sequoia. I was told then that when the lights are on, the functions do not work. I feel this has been a safety issue that toyota has been aware of but has done nothing to correct.

2005 2wd toyota sequoia limited has the following warning lights on while the engine is running: vsc, trac-off, abs, engine light. The vehicle will stall if you try to accelerate, and it will not go over 50 mph, as if having no power.my sequoia is a real safety problem on the road.until toyota stand behind their products, they are just a pathetic car company with bogus quality image.

Vsc, track, and brake lamp stay on.toyota has not repaired problem.was first brought to them in warranty when they said they had to replace the computer but didn't have the part.they have since replaced the computer but the problem persist.now they say it is a master cylinder sensor (2 of them) but still have not repaired.when first brought to them, i was told this was a common problem.have since noticed that the internet is filled with this same problem.this affects traction and is an obvious safety problem and should be recalled.this problem has continued from 2005 to present.

My 2005 toyota sequoia had the vsc light come on. We took it to the dealer who said that it was a code for the secondary air injection valve sticking open, but he also told us that they have replaced the valves before and it ended up being the pump. When pulling into traffic the vehicle went into "limp"mode which was very close to causing an accident with my wife and three children in the car. After reading about so many other people with the same problem, it would seem that toyota should be willing to fix this issue before someone is injured or killed in an accident. I now have a car that is not safe to drive.

On 11-08-16 during a pennsylvania state inspection for my 2005 toyota sequoiai was informed it would not pass because of frame rot.the dealer stated it went into service the end of january 2005. How could this be for an 11yr youcng toyota? the frame has rusted in several areas, the rust hole was rusted through from the inside. This vehicle was my choice for my wife and kids due to the reputation and longevity of toyota's vehicles.this is a major issue that needs to be resolved, as it is a major safety concern that could potentially be fatal if unchecked.what should me my future actions to this matter?- also , when in stop and go traffic, every light on the dash will go on, vsc, trac, abs, losing braking power and acceleration.no accident to date because of it's infrequence, but also a major concern!

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.while driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a loud rattling noise coming from the front end of the vehicle.there was also severe vibration.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the failures occurred intermittently.the dealer stated that the skid control esu failed.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were 44,000.

My 2005 sequoia has the vsc off and vsc trac lights on and it causes a hesitation in acceleration - which is a significant crash hazard.i notified toyota about this and asked if they would fix it because they recalled other years of sequoias for the same problem.toyota will not fix it and said that the 2005 has different parts than the years that they recalled. That is silly because the problem is there even if the parts are different.the hatchback latch has also broke and the hatchback will not open.i looked online and saw that this is another well known problem with 2005 sequoias that toyota refuses to fix despite the dangers if there were a crash and somebody needed to exit from the hatch area.

2005 toyota sequoia trac off, vsc trac, and check engine lights all came on suddenly on vehicle with 62k miles. Understand this is common problem and that toyota has recognized this as a common problem with these vehicles but will not correct. Cost to correct is $1,500 - $2,700.

Vsc trac/vsc off/brake lights all come on at the same time.vehicle loses power, which is very dangerous.this is on my 2005 sequoia.

I have a newly purchased, one owner, preowned sequoia, the vehicle has been serviced every 5000 miles and all recommended maintenance has been completed at the same dealer each time.i have recently taken it for inspection and the dealer failed it because the vsc skid control ecu needs to be replaced because of error codes.this is a $2300 dollar repair.after looking online this is an very common issue.so much so that toyota issued a tsb and changed the part out for a new one on future models.i feel like toyota is very aware of this defect which is a brake related concern which to me is a severe safety issue.i would like toyota to own up to this and pay for the costly repair.i read on a forum that everyone experiencing this issue should complain to nhtsa in hope of forcing toyota's hand.i am canadian that exported this vehicle and i have been told that i need to deal with us toyota.

The brake light constantly goes on and off.i notice the light permanently stays on after leaving the freeway when the engine slows down (not even stepping on the brakes yet).then, the light doesn't disappear until after the engine is powered off.we brought the vehicle in when in warranty and stated the problem.the first 3 years, all they did was inspect the brake system but nothing was done. We were verbally given an example what they did for a previous customer (changed all the sensors and the system board) but still no fix.at the last service check, another service rep said, don't worry about it because we checked the brakes and they're okay and this is a common problem.these last two weeks (off and on) at the intersection waiting for the red light to turn green, i notice the brake lights are on and suddenly the engine is trying to accelerate and then it stops.

Slowing down to turn the vsc trac< trac off < check engine<brake lights come on. This has happened three times and i temporarily lose control of braking and excelleration. This is dangerous and nearly caused me to enter traffic in an intersection.

I have a 2005 toyota sequoia with 36,000 miles on it.over the past month the dash board brake warning light has started coming on.i took the truck to the dealer last week, arlington toyota in jacksonville florida.the dealer diagnostics revealed a error code on the computer of c1247 stroke sensor failure.after a $100 adjustment of the brake light switch, with in a day the light came back on.the dealer's response was that a $2,300 ecu was required to correct the problem.i am amazed that a vehicle with 36, 00 miles and less that 4 years old could require a part that expensive.doing a little research on the internet it is clear that this is a systemic problem toyota trucks.an internet search will return pages of 'hits' covering several model years of toyota trucks from hundreds of victimized owners.most of those posts detail owners being taken for thousands of dollars by toyota service departments as their technicians struggle to correct the problem by replacing multiple very expensive parts.in my mind, this is clearly something the government needs to get involved in, as quickly as possible.i do not know if there is a safety issue here.to me a sensor detecting an issue with a vehicles breaking system is not something that should be ignored and the manufacturer should be required to correct this clearly systemic problem with one of their products.richard harp

Mileage is 76,500 and driving on city street and my vsc trac, vsc off and break light comes on with a grinding noise.i pulled the car on the side and turn off the car.ever since the vsc trac, vsc off and break lightare always on.i went online and i see a lot of sequoia owners have the same problem.is there a recall on this??

Trac off, vsc trac and brake light on. All three lights come and go at will. I had simlar problem during warranty. For last 2 years it has come and gone. But this time it is more on than off for last 10 days.

I have a 2005 toyota sequoia limited 2wd.at random times the vsc dealership, vsc off, abs, and parking brake lights all come on at once.they will stay on until i stop the vehicle and turn the ignition off.when i restart the truck they will function normally.there are many theories of why this happens, but my dealership says nothing is wrong.i am worried about a costly repair when i am out of warranty or a potential safety issue.i have had the truck at the dealership multiple times and they say they can't find anything wrong.

When slowing to a stop, my sequoia periodically grinds when braking and the vsc sensor, abs sensor and trac sensor light turn on and stay on.

The vac trac & vsc off buttons on my dash are always on. This has caused the vehicle to grind when backing, drop into 4wd unexpectedly, lock wheels on one side only into 4wd and various other issues. I am lucky that i do in-town driving most of the time and have not experienced this while driving at a high rate of speed. I have had my vehicle scanned for codes & looked over by my mechanic which has not led to any faults or corrections needed. I am afraid to drive my car.

Vehicle vsc trac lights, brake lights and wsc dash board indicators comes on while driving.this problem is constant and more persistent each time the vehicle is driven. *ln

Slip indicator light illuminates and vehicle looses all power for 4-5 sec then resumes normally unless on snow. If on snow vehicle it repeatedly looses power and produces a noise as if it is shorting-out. Very dangerous especially when going up hill on gravel road. Each bump at low speed (3-4 mph) causes slip indicator light to illuminate and complete loss of power. This happens regardless of traction control being turned off.

2005 toyota sequoia, engine stops intermittently, "electronic stability control" light come on, engine dies, not on a slippery road. Very hazardous if engine dies while driving.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While starting the vehicle, an abnormal noise was observed and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the secondary air pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repairedthe failure mileage was approximately 117,000. Updated 04/18/17lj

While driving on the highway at 55 mph, my vehicle suddenly decelerated to 20 mph.after exiting, i still could not accelerate above 20 mph.i scheduled an appointment with r&h toyota in owings mills, md for friday, march 15, 2013.i received a call from the dealership informing me it was necessary to replace the secondary air injection pump, but since the part was no longer available, i would need to replace the entire valve assembly and the skid control computer, at a total cost of $4,845.02.my internet research revealed toyota is aware of the defective secondary air injection system in their vehicles and as a result issued a warranty enhancement, in response to reports of air induction pump assemblies and/or air injection switching valves issues on their 2007-2010 tundra and 2008-2010 sequoia models, up to 150,000 miles.i called toyota to question why the decision was made to not include all model years with the defective secondary air injection system and was informed it was their engineers' decision.no one at toyota could further explain this to me.my research reveals there are many models for 2005 - 2008 affected by this defect.the explanation for the exorbitant expense was because of a design change and that toyota no longer manufactures the defective part, owners of vehicles for models 2005 - 2008 would need to replace entire system.so, toyota apparently acknowledges a defect in their design and its impact on vehicle owners.i cannot afford $5,000.00 for a vehicle that is only eight (8) years old.based on my research, there is a large class of toyota customers affected by this defect.please investigate and advise.

The brake light constantly goes on and off. Trac off, vsc trac and check engine lights all come on. A loud rattling noise coming from the front end of vehicle and vibration the engine will not accelerate randomly while driving and the trac control light goes on at the same time.

The vsc trac light is on , and engine light too.

Check engine light, vsc trac and break light constantly.

The secondary injection pump has failed.it started with a loud winding noise anytime it was started at a cold start.the noise would lasta few minutes.then everything was fine.then the entire thing went out and my check engine light came on along with all traction control has gone out.the vehicle will not accelerate at a normal speed and it is very dangerous while driving, especially on the interstate.total cost to repair is over $3,000.00it is a well documented case of complaints and they have issued warranty for other year models for this part to be replaced- but not 2005.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia sr5. The contact stated that while parked, the check engine light, trac off, and vsc trac warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. The technician stated the secondary air intake pump and valve needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The contact stated a report was filed with the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage and the current mileage was 121,600.

Both vsc trac and engine light are on. Engine makes a loud grinding noise every time the car needs to be warmed up. Read other reports that sequoia 2005 owners are having the same issues. Shouldn't there be a recall by now for safety issue?

Engine knocking sound or tickling noise.i went to the dealer to diagnosis what is wrong, but they cannot figure out.the dealership recommended to replace the whole engine quoting $9,800 for parts and labor.the vehicle has only 52,000 miles on it, it should not be having this problem.the car is not worth that much, as i would be spending on it.looking online there are others with the same problem and some have said toyota has replaced their engine.i contacted the executive office and they denied any assistance, seems like they do not want to stand behind their customers when problems arise until it becomes a bigger issue.i am just letting you guys know of this problem, i am not sure if you can do anything, but i want to involve media and others with this problem.it is not fair to spend so much money on a car just for the engine to go out at 52,000 miles. There has to be some kind of manufacure defect.

Vehicle when on a stop and making a turn doesn't accelerate for a few seconds it goes blank then after gets speed. In many occasion i had close calls with upcoming traffic behind me after making the turn because of the acceleration failure. I called the dealer where the car was obtained and they said that there is no recall for that vehicle even when i told them that the sequoia 2003 was recalled because of the same issue. The told me that they can check what is wrong with it but i will need to pay the inspection plus the repairs. Las conversation with them was 6/27/2014.

My sequoia will all of a sudden stop accelerating while driving. Trac light and vsc light and check engine light came on. I had to turn the ignition off and back on to get it moving again...i took it straight to the toyota dealership. They did several tests. All but one test determined it was the engine control unit (of which is covered under a class action lawsuit). Because of that one test, they will not fix it. The service manager told me i had to keep driving it until it breaks down on the side of the road and they would tow it back there. Problem is...i might be dead in the truck depending on where and when it happens again. I am terrified to drive it! my sequoia has been a lemon!i have previously had to replace 1)throttle body 2)throttle pedal position switch 3)brake booster 4)master cylinder and 5)skid control ecu. At 120,000 miles and all of those problems already? and now this issue?....it must be a lemon!

Check engine light came on and heard a low "supercharger" type noise from the engine.took vehicle to dealer who diagnosed the problem as an air injection pump problem (codes p1442, p1445) which has been found on 2008-2010 sequoias.vehicle computer is operating in safe mode at a reduced capacity until repair is done.toyota has extended the warranty to 10 years or 150,000 miles for this problem but not for the 2005 model year.toyota acknowledged the problem in the 2008-2010 model years but would not consider any action or necessary communication for the 2005 model year.

Engine warning and vsc trac off lights, i had several issues with these warnings.this is the second time it had happened to my suv.the last time was on a long vacation trip and it suddenly goes on and the engine starts to go on limp mode, where it slows down dramatically even though the suv's engine is fine.it was pretty dangerous because we were on a fwy where the speed is 75 mph.we took it in for repair in toyota dealer and it just need a routine maintenance which cost me $2600 to get this lights off!two years later to this day, the lights went on again and now the same thing, it is going to cost me $2600 to get these light off! this is happening a lot to all 2005 sequoia.there should be a recall for these...

Toyota extended the warranty coverage for repairs related to illumination of the check engine light (malfunction indicator light) due to moisture/water in the air injection pumps and/or air switching valves for select sequoia trucks.it should be required to extend it to all sequoia trucks as it clearly recognizes this pump and valve assembly is defective in this model.the coverage extends for the lesser of 10 years or 150,000 miles but instead should be for the greater of the two. This repair costs $4000 and typically occurs when the truck value is near $7000.my truck is experiencing this problem and will not accelerate above 50 mph which can be dangerous.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when she attempted to drive uphill and the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact stated the defect was only present when attempting to drive uphill. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer and the contact was informed that the air injection system exhibited an internal malfunction from debris that ruptured from inside the air injection system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 99,500.

Piece of foam worth $.10 dislodged from blower motor and was jammed in blower motor valve. This created a loud squeal sound. Had repair done at cost of $2000 last year 2014. Toyota dealer states same problem once again .

Vsc trac---vsc--check engine light--and then problems with acceleration!!

Slowing down to turn the vsc trac< trac off < check engine<brake lights come on. This has happened three times and i temporarily lose control of braking and excelleration. This is dangerous and nearly caused me to enter traffic in an intersection.

After cranking the car and driving for a few minutes, the following lights on the dashboard appeared: vsc off / vsc trac / check engine light.i entered the on ramp to the interstate and could not accelerate past 40 mph.had to pull over and let the car "reset".attempted to re-enter the interstate and the flow of traffic but car would not accelerate beyond 40 mph and i had my 3 small children in the vehicle.very terrifying experience.drove to a dealership that advised me a secondary hose had to be replaced on the engine.later determined that toyota released a technical bulletin and are aware of this issue but will not issue a recall.it is an extremely costly part to fix.parts alone are $3200.

When turning corners in motion, the traction control light illuminates causing a loss of braking and acceleration. There is now way to control the vehicles acceleration/deceleration until the light goes off. Typically last about 3-5 seconds. This happens frequently every time the vehicle is driven.

Trac off, vsc trac ,engine light came on...trouble code was p1444 (secondary air injection system switching value stuck)...vehicle had problems accelerating. Repairman indicated that the air injection pump/check values needed to be replaced and very expensive.based on other reports it appears that this is a frequent occurrence and vehicles shutting down on interstates.others have said that toyota knows about this but won't issue an extended warranty, but offers for newer vehicles .owned several toyotas before this...this could be a deal breaker for future toyotas.

Vsc trac---vsc--check engine light--and then problems with acceleration on a street doing 35 mph.would be very dangerous if it happened on ahighway.needs to be a recall- many similar complaints online

The vehicle has a failed air injection system that causes a reduction in the engine's power output. When the initial failure began there was a loud vacuum sound upon start up and all dash warning lights came on. Over time the sound went away but engine power is still greatly reduced. This poses a very serious safety risk as the vehicle can not accelerate adequately to highway speeds or maintain speeds on an incline thus posing a risk for accidents and as a result possible injury. Toyota was notified of the issue in summer 2012 but stated they would not cover or replace any components related to this as the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was taken to the dealership toyota scion concord (concord, nc) and a diagnostic test was performed showing a failed air injection system. The replacement cost are approximately $3,500 and requires a service technician to break down the motor to replace the necessary components. With the cost of the system being significant this goes beyond the scope of a basic repair. 2nd generation sequioas (2008-current) also experienced failed air injection systems and toyota replaced the system in these vehicles but did not in the 1st generation although they share a similar powertrain.

Vsc trac, vsc off, brake, abs lights... All on, all at once. And looses power on the freeway very dangerous.i have done some research and there is thousands of complains .it hapen to me last night vsc trac, vsc off, brake, abs lights.came onall on, all at once.and i start looosing power lucky i was close to a exit

The yaw rate sensor is defective. This causes the vsc trac to engage and slows the vehicle right away, also causes power failure in the aspect of when it engages engine slows and can ever shut off.

- the contact has a 2005 toyota sequoia.the contact received safety recall 07v013000 onthe vehicle, andhad 9 different repairs made concerning the same safety recall.the last time the vehicle was repaired was on 10/17/2006.on 10/17/2006 the contact bought a new transmissionbecause the failure could not be diagnosed.the contact stated that there were multiple drive line repairs, and that the car was lunging forward and making a clunking sounds.two days after replacing the engine the contact returned with the vehicle because it was lurching forward and making a clunking noise while being driven.the contact has tried to get the vehicle diagnosed since the new engine without success.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.while parked, the vehicle caught fire.a fire and police report were both filed.the manufacturer would only reimburse the contact for half the cost of the vehicle, stating that they could not determine the cause of the failure.the failure and current mileages were 20,000.according to the police report, the fire may have started in the engine compartment. Prior to the fire, the tires were wearing unevenly, the driver sidemirror was loose and the rear glass did not open. Updated 04/23/08

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the track, abs, vsc, brake, and check engine warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer replaced the master cylinder and the brake booster, but the warning lights continued to illuminate. The manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs of the failure.the failure and current mileages were 83,000. The vin was unavailable.

2005 toyota sequoia trac off, vsc trac, and check engine lights all came on suddenly on vehicle with 62k miles. Understand this is common problem and that toyota has recognized this as a common problem with these vehicles but will not correct. Cost to correct is $1,500 - $2,700.

Upon start-up, the vehicle produces dangerously high idle speeds that does not correct when the vehicle's gears are engaged.constant heavy brake pressure is required to control the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.the contact stated that while attempting to exit the highway, the vsc warning light illuminated and the vehicle began to loose power.the contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and then the vehicle began driving normally.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure and the current mileage was 62,036.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the check engine, trc-off, and vsc-off lights illuminated upon starting the vehicle. The contact also stated that the vehicle went into limp mode during the failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Engine noise is very loud.it would seem that the sound insulation around the engine is missing, but it is not.the radiator fan is especially loud on initial acceleration.my first 5000 mile service was just completed and after my complaint, the dealer performed a recall on the fan which was supposed to reduce the noise.it is no better.during hot summer days, it is worse because the fan runs faster (or louder) to maintain proper engine temperature.(note:i traded in my 2002 sequoia with 80,000 miles and never heard the engine on that car).

Check engine light and vsc/traction control lights keep coming on. Took it to toyota of lewisville, texas on 30 june 06 and again to toyota of killeen, texas on 15 july 06. Toyota of lewisville told me it was bad gas and that the problem was fixed. On 13 june 06 the light came on but went off after a couple of miles. On my way to dallas on 14 jun 06 the same thing happened. Later that day on my way back from dallas the lights came back on and i took my sequoia to toyota of killeen on 15 july 06. They worked on my sequoia until 25 july 06.i only had my truck for a day when the lights came back on. I took the truck back to the dealer the next day, 27 july 06, and the service department turned off the lights and an hour later told me my sequoia was ready and that if the problem persisted to bring it back. Right there in the service bay the light came on and the dealership has had it ever since. I talked to the service rep and he informs me that the computer has been replaced and the problem persist. They checked the fuel and drained the fuel and the problem persist.

Very excessive fast idle speed in my 2005 sequoia.i too owned a previous sequoia (2000) model and there is no comparison.it can take anywhere from 4 or more minutes to warm up the engine before there is any noticeable change in its idle.in fact, i can idle out of my subdivision without hitting the accelerator.this should not be. You can also hear an increase in its idle if you turn on the vehicles heater.the engine even revs more.you no longer can get the this vehicle, start it, and let it warm up 2 or 3 minutes and put it in drive or reverse.getting in a cold vehicle after a packer's game, you must sit there and wait....and wait....and wait while all of the other parked (and cold) vehicles have left the parking lot.if you do not let the vehicle warm up a good 5 mins. You also have problems getting the vehicle to shift gears.you can be giving it gas and it is not going no where.it gives you the feeling like your transmission is slipping and/or not engaging.i have taken the vehicle back to the dealership and they tell me that this is 'normal'.i have been driving for many a year and i know that this is not normal.they also tell me that they cannot adjust its idle because of emission requirements.i did not have one problem with my previous sequoia !, and if i was shopping around for another suv now and having this major problem in my 2005, i'd be shopping elsewhere.

I had owned a 2001 toyota sequoia for four years before recently trading it in for a 2005 model.i obviously love the car but there is an unfortunate flaw in the 2005 model that differs from my 2001 model.when the vehicle is started cold the idle speed is very high - about 1500+ rpm.the idle doesn't slow down appreciably until the car has warmed up - about 5 minutes depending on the weather.the problem with the high idle comes when trying to drive the car on an icy surface.i came out of my garage on an icy morning, put the car into forward, kept my foot on the brake and slowly tried to move forward.even at a snail's pace the car skidded uncontrollably into a raised flower bed by my house scraping the under panels.my 2001 sequoia never had this problem.the high idle speed makes the car uncontrollable on ice.there is simply too much torque and power even with the brake on.toyota should be required to set back the idle speed so that the car can be controlled on a slippery surface when the engine is warming up.

Our vsc/trac light and engine light simultaneously come on for an unknown reason. Our mechanic can not find a solution.our emergency brake light comes on and off for no necessary reason as well.this has happened three or four times and no one can fix it.i am afraid to take it to toyota because of the bad experiences posted online where consumers have received many varying answers, expensive repairs, and in some case, still no solution.we are in the market to buy a new car and it makes resale very difficult with these lights on and no answer as to why they are on... And no way to turn them off... So we wait.many people have posted on the internet about this same problem in other 2005 sequoias.our computer keeps throwing varying and different errors... And mymechanic thinks the errors are not accurate.could it be a computer or electrical malfunction?please help.

2005 toyota sequoia, engine stops intermittently, "electronic stability control" light come on, engine dies, not on a slippery road. Very hazardous if engine dies while driving.

Car idles at a very high rpm when started.caution must be used to firmly depress the brake before selecting drive or reverse.my car will do 10 mph without touching the accelerator.it seems to take five minutes or so to idle down.

Vehicle exhaust fumes enter vehicle cabin via open rear window due to location of exhaust(not extended beyond rear bumper)this has been an ongoing problem since the vehicle was purchased in march 2005.

- the contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.the current mileage was 15,000.when vehicles speeddecreased under 50 mph there wasa strong smell of sulfur from the vehicle exhaust system.

Vehicle emits a rotten egg smell through the ventilation system whenever we step on the accelerator.sometimes the smell is so bad that it burns our eyes and nose!toyota acknowledged the problem, stating they could not do anything until a recall for the catalytic converter is issued.they further said that earlier year models (2003-2005) vehicles had the same problem!

Upon acceleration vehicle cabin fills with a sulfur (rotten egg) smell. Dealership states they cannot duplicate. Upon pickup the vehicle exhibited the same problem within one block of the dealership.

Turning on the a/c after starting the engine froma cold start, the a/c unit makes a grinding sound while engaging. This only occurs while engine has not run for approximately 24 hrs. Dealer could not duplicate the problem after several attempts.

My wife turned the vehicle on and all warning lights came on and stayed on. This is the 3rd time this has happened.

2005 toyota sequoia fuel vapor recovery system malfunctioned.***no answer required***. *mr

Extremely high idle speed from a cold start (1500-1700 rpm) leads to wheel spin and loss of control on icy/snowy surfaces.i turned sideways in my driveway this morning while backing out of my garage.rear wheels are spinning while the brakes are holding the front wheels.i have a business partner who also has a 2005 sequoia that behaves identically.he slid off his driveway into a landscape bed, suffering minor body damage.the cold start idle speed is excessive and dangerous.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate and started to jerk when using the cruise control function. The contact mentioned that the abs, vsc tract, and check engine lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the secondary air injection system valve needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,000.

When turning and accelerating (for example, turning out of a parking lot and entering traffic) the traction/skid control will engage - the skid control light turns on - and cut throttle for approximately 3 seconds. During this time the vehicle slows down and is not responsive to pressing on the gas pedal.this has happened approximately 10-15 times on this vehicle. I was not aware this was an inherent sequoia problem until i read other complaints online - which is why i did not report this earlier.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia sr 5. The contact stated that the driver was traveling 55 mph when the vsc and check engine warning lights illuminated and the vehicle decreased speed. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop. The repair shop stated that the fuel air reduction pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 72,012.

Check engine light, vsc trac and break light constantly.

Car had very little power when pressing gas pedal. Took to toyota dealership where they indicated the "air injection pump" required replacement. I performed the required repair and it was $3,000. I've also seen this is a common problem with this model vehicle.

I'm a loyal customer to toyota. My 2005 sequoia sr5 v8 was recently diagnosed with a check engine light. The truck is always been meticulously cared for by my local toyota dealer. In many cases, i have had the truck serviced based on dealer recommendations to prolong its use. It had approx 85,000 miles when i noticed the main thence light. After a visit to the stone mountain, ga dealership, they wanted $4000 for parts and labor on an emission component failure (air pump injection system). I was told that the air pump injections could be defective and that the light/maintenance codes do not make the truck un-driveable nor does it cause a safety risk, but that it would not pass the state emissions inspection. I inquired about possible defect and/or recall notices for the air pump injections and have been told on 4 occasions, over the past 18 months that there is no recall. After researching the internet forums and boards, i found out that this was a recurring problem with other v8 sequoias, tundras & 4runners. According to your website & other research, the tundras and sequoias with the same 4.7l v8 has had the same emission component warrantied to 10 years/150,000 miles (tsb 032908/tsb 035009), but the dealership has not helped in resolving. I am not willing to pay the approx $4000 for the repair, given that i have been given misinformation and the "run around" about getting this fixed under the stated recall number and want to for all document my complaint in hopes of getting this matter rectified promptly. Vsc trac---vsc--check engine light--and then problems with acceleration!!

The plastic latch on the rear door of our 2005 sequoia broke in november 2011.we had it replaced at the dealer for a cost of $300.fourteen (14) months later, the plastic handle has broken again.this car has only 75000 miles and has been garage kept its entire life.the dealer offered a discount on the labor but nothing else.the mechanism to adjust the side view mirrors was adjusted several times during warranty but has never worked properly.the radio changes stations at a whim and the dvd player quit working right after the warranty expired.the driver side sun visor has an extremely sharp end that must be hammered back periodically.and, the front and rear wheel bearings had to be replaced at 75000 miles.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia sr5. The contact stated that the rear hatch back lock could not be opened or locked from the outside or inside of the vehicle. The automatic key fob was also inoperable. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified who stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 140,000.

2005 toyota sequoia. Emergency brake light comes on while driving. This has been happening 3 to 4 times a year over the life of the vehicle( i am original owner.has been told by dealer thatit has been fixed and within a few months light is back on again.today may 7th is 2nd time for 2011 thati am again at dealer with this issue.

Vsc trac, trac off, and parking park light come one and off intermittently.they will come on while driving and sometimes when the car is turned off and then restarted. They will be off...but sometimes they are still on.

Car stalls when put in drive and will not drive safely.there is a loud clunk when backing up. Car does not have power getting up hills. Toyota mechanic says there is a bad computer that has been recalled in 2004 models.i

The vsc trac light and engine light of my 2005 toyota sequoia is on.when driving the engine seems to hesitate and lurches forward.i was told that i will have to replace my transmission.my car only has 45,000 miles on it and our warranty expired one month ago.my internet research shows that this is a very common problem.a new transmission will cost thousands of dollars and is un-acceptable for such a young car.

Toyota sequoia skid control ecu on a 2005 model, failed, causing inconsistent braking response among multiple lights detecting failures that are related to the part the brake light continuously went off along with he vsc since may of 2010 have had it in to toyota 3 times for the problem the last time they finally were able to tell me it was the skid control ecu and it was not a recall item despite the recall on the 2003 sequoia's.

Vehicle's transmission makes grinding sound, sometimes vehicle loses power while traveling at highway speeds, vsc light comes on.

2005 toyota sequoia with 87000 miles has lost power when the trac vsc and off trac plus engine is on.the sequoia will only travel 30 miles per hour. Top. It happen june 19, 2016 when driving on the streets we started to go uphill when my wife and me notice that sequoia had on power and the check engine light was on plus trac off and vsc trac lights were on. I look up the problem on the computer to fined out that others are having the same problem.i check the toyota web site to see if any recalls.i enter the vin number and fond none with this problem.thanks

I am the owner of a 2005 sequoia that i purchased new from a va dealer on 31 dec 2005; it has a rather serious drive-train related problem. After coming to a 'hard' stop, several seconds later i experience a lurch or clunk that literally feels like another vehicle just bumped me from behind. I began to apply threshold braking and the problem was minimal. Today, i had to abruptly apply the brakes, emergency vehicle crossing in front of me, however, when i attempted to accelerate this time the lurch was followed a loud thud that was measured with the speed of the vehicle. Please urge toyota to have this issue made into a recall along with the rust issues that this truck continues to have. The rust recall was limited and stopped with the 2004 models even though it is still an on going issue with this model.

Our sequoia has started 'lunging' forward upon incidents of heavy braking; for instance, when we brake hard and come to a complete stop, when the pressure is relieved from the brake pedal, the vehicle lunges forward hard- it puts our heads into the headrests and feels like we have been hit from behind; this is both a safety issue and a liability issue as this can cause an accident when braking hard; it's not a throttle issue or a brake issue, but feels more so like the powertrain is slipping or jumping back into gear very hard.our sequoia has approximately 65-66,000 miles; i have also contacted toyota regarding this problem and have not yet received a response.as i review the internet, other sequoia owners have had this problem as well.

When the vehicle is being driven the transmission hesitates, then jerks forward. This isa daily occurrence.*sb*m

In the past two weeks following a rapid braking my 2005 toyota sequoia surged forward upon acceleration requiring applying the brakes to stop the sudden lurching forward.this has occurred on three occasions over a ten day period.

When you take your foot off the gas with the speed of the car betweed 30 to 45 mph, it frequently does not coast.it actually decelerates as though it is stuck in a low gear (rpm is 1600 to 1700 with foot off the gas).it releases in 4 to 6 seconds and then you do coast (rpm now drops to 1100).dealer observed the complaint as we slowed from 45 to 30 mph before the transmission seemed to"release" and allow the car to coast.dealer has no answer.

When coming to a complete stop and then releasing the brake to accelerate you feel and hear a clunk from the rear. It feels as if you have been hit from behind from another vehicle. This occurs on a daily basis several times a day. Contacted toyota in jan 2010and told this was normal. I took the matter to management in feb 2010 and they had me bring the vehicle in. They found the trans support to be faulty and replaced the crossmember, bolts and insulation. Problem continued. Took the vehicle back march 2010 and they said it had anupdated cross member and bolt so no repairs were made at that time. Currently still having the problem and waiting for a return phone call back from management to take the vehicle in. I was told each visit that this is a drive train problem and it cannot be fixed and it is something i will need to live with. I am not happy with this answer and i will take this matter further until the issue is resolved.i paid $30,000 for this vehicle. In the past i had a rearend issue with another vehicle and ended up in an attorney's office with them taking the vehicle back and money in my pocket. I really do not want to have to do this again, but if need be i will be contacting my attorney. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle and feel this should be fully replaced with all new parts.

Our two year old is in a properly secured rear-facing britax toddler car seat. She is in the second row on the driver side. As we were driving our six year old alerted us to her distress. She had managed to grab the seat belt for the middle sit (second row) and wrapped it around her neck. She was struggling to get out but when she pulled it to her, she pulled it all the way out so the more she struggled, the tighter the seat belt around her neck got. Had our six year old not alerted us, this could've ended terribly. We immediately pulled over, got her unbuckled from her car seat to pull her closer to the seat belt for enough slack to get her head and neck out of the strangling of the seat belt. Immediately after the incident, our two year old clung tightly to mom and cried with red marks around her neck. She was scared to get back in the car. Dad took the middle seat belt and wrapped it around a head rest tightly to get it out of the toddlers reach.

Consumer's child managed to get the middle passenger seat belt twisted up around her arm in the 2005 toyota sequoia.*mrthe consumers seven year old daughter was sitting in the booster seat when this occurred.

Without warning, the brake, vsc, and traction control lights will all illuminate. After this happens and the brakes are applied, the abs makes a screeching sound , the brakes lock up and then are lost completely. Usually requires a rapid response of downshifting and/ or using the parking brake to avoid collisions. This problem happens every 6-10 times it is driven. Many times there are no warnings at all, the dash lights happensinstantaneously with the brake failure.sometimes restarting the vehicle will make a stop but it is no guarantee. This has been happening for over five years with no explainable cause from my mechanic.

Problem: brakes disengage or as i've been told the abs system is engaging when it shouldn't. The front end of my car sounds like it dropping out and i'm hearing a very loud grinding noise. This is happened several times in the past 2 years. Had brakes serviced twice in the past 2 years. Replaced pads, turned rotors. Changed brake fluid. Had sensors checked. Checked by the dealer as well as another brake shop(firestone). They couldn't find any computer codes to definitely say what the problem is. Only recommended replacing a computer part. I told them i wasn't spending over $1000 on a recommendation. Even carried it to firestone, since the dealer service dept was closed yesterday evening at 6:45pm when it happened again. Didn't turn off the car with the "brake", "vcs" and another yellow light on and they really didn't see any codes that stood out. Very frustrating and concerning with my wife and kids riding in this car!!!!

While driving, the brake warning light, vsc off light, and vsc trac light all came on.pulled over and shut engine off.restarted the car and lights were initially off but came right back on as soon as i started driving.had advance auto parts hook computer to it, and it isn't throwing a code at all.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the brake pedal vibrated as the brakes seized. The vehicle slid with the illumination of the traction control and brake warning lights. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the abs system failed. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

When slowing to a stop, my sequoia periodically grinds when braking and the vsc sensor, abs sensor and trac sensor light turn on and stay on.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that when the brakes were engaged at an unknown speed, the pedal went to the floor as the abs and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to be pulled over and stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it diagnosed that the abs hydraulic assembly, wheel speed sensor, stroke sensor, and engine control system had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however; the brake failure continued to recur. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicles actuator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

I was traveling about 30 mph and the vsc off, vsc trac, e brake light all came on at the same time and will not shut off. They have been on for about a week now. Cannot get them to turn off.

Brake light comes on when driving, reset when turn engine off. Braking system & pad checked out to be fine. Need to replace skid control computer cost approx. $1200.00 should be covered under the warranty but the dealer say no.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who advised that the brake booster needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the brake booster usually failed at 70,000 miles on the specific year model. The vin was not available. The failure and the current mileages were 69,000.

While driving, the check engine light, vsc light, brake light all came on.vehicle would not accelerate past 40 mph.diagnostic codes c1223, c1247, c1310 came back.checking the internet, this is a common issue with this vehicle and a recall should be issued.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while parked, the vsc and abs warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The contact was unaware of the repair needed to remedy the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated. In addition, the vsc track off and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.

I bought a toyota sequoia 2005 back in 2005 at rice toyota dealer in greensboro .today , when i was driving on the street and turned on the left light signal with less than 15 mph while using the brake, i heard a very loud grinding noise and that instantly i saw all 3 signs ( trac off, vsc trac, brake ) on at the same time.i am almost out of breath and scared to death. The signs (trac off, vsc trac, brake ) once in a while appeared in the past and disappeared by themselve and idid not have any serious problems in the past , but today the car just acted like a dead car at that momentarily. I was so scared and scared.

My vsc, trac and brake light all came on all ofsudden with a large boom sound. The car stalled on me in an intersection.the lights go off once car is turned off and then after turning car back on they will come on about 5 minutes after driving.car loses power every so often now.dealer said it needs a new computer.

Slowing down to turn the vsc trac< trac off < check engine<brake lights come on. This has happened three times and i temporarily lose control of braking and excelleration. This is dangerous and nearly caused me to enter traffic in an intersection.

I get constant warning lights for brake, vsc and trac. This is a very common problem with the sequoia. It shuts down those safety features.

Vsc trac, trac off, and parking park light warning lights will illuminate seemingly randomly while driving.when the car is stopped and turned off and then on again the warning lights are no longer on.dealership has been unable to properly diagnosis the problem.they have charged over $4,000 to replace various parts of the brake system but the problem persists.i am concerned the brake system will not properly function when this condition exists.

Brake, vsc trac, trac off, and abs lights all come on intermittently while driving and stay on until the car is turned off and restarted.seems to be a very common problem according to the forums.

Depressing the brakes - even lightly when slowing intermittently activates the abs along with a loud buzzing mechanical noise. As such, i'm not able to slow as quickly with the abs deployed. Mechanic reports this is related to tsb - but no recall yet.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the brake warning light intermittently illuminated. In addition, the vsc track off and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

While driving approximately 60-65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The brakes failed to slow down the vehicle. The contact was able to use the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the part was no longer being manufactured. Hutchinson toyota of albany (located at 2865 ledo rd, albany, ga 31707, (229) 436-7751) was contacted by phone and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 242,000.

Loss of abs system, vsc & traction control on interstate at high rate of speedbarely avoided collisions.unsafe.vsc/abs/e brake light all on.

While driving home on interstate 15 in california brake pedal would not depress. After several hard foot applications pedal finally engaged. This is after months of service on this vehicle for brake problems starting with spongy and inconsistent pedal and vcs, abs and brake lights coming on and staying on. Dealership replaced on board computer, brake booster, brake master cylinder, brake pads and problem still there. I am the original owner and bought this vehicle new. This is a serious problem and just a matter of time before an accident occurs. This vehicle is now back in the shop once again.

The vsc trac, vsc off and abs light would come on and then reset when i turn off & restart the vehicle. I called the toyota dealer i take my car to for maintenance and they said to bring it in when the lights turn on again. I did some research and waited for the lights to come back on. The lights came on today & i took it into the dealer. They said the master cylinder and skid ecu was bad & needed to be replaced. They quoted me $1900 plus labor. This is an extremely common problem with the sequoia's and i am very surprised & disappointed that there hasn't been a recall done for this problem.

The brake light constantly goes on and off. Trac off, vsc trac and check engine lights all come on. A loud rattling noise coming from the front end of vehicle and vibration the engine will not accelerate randomly while driving and the trac control light goes on at the same time.

Vehicle vsc trac lights, brake lights and wsc dash board indicators comes on while driving.this problem is constant and more persistent each time the vehicle is driven. *ln

"vsc off" and "vsc track" and "brake" lights all illuminated on dashboard.severe loss of power.unpredictable steering and braking.

At slow speeds on clean, dry pavement and normal braking conditions all warning lights on the dash will illuminate, the skid/traction control will start beeping and the abs will engage for no apparent reason 0 while also making a grinding noise. This has happened twice in the past month. Toyota dealer indicated the problem is the "abs and traction control actuator."

Code1223 1247 1360brake lighttrac off vsc trac all come onthis seams to be problem with thousands of 2003 - 2005 sequoia brake sometimes make noise so you not sure brakes are good when car in motion sequoia has 78000 miles

When backing up or sometimes slowing down moving forward the vcs lights all come on and the brakes automatically engage (quickly and with a grinding sound) and the car moves to the right and stops abruptly.

Tonight when backing out of my driveway i heard a loud grinding noise and my brake pedal was very hard to push. The brake light, trac off and vsc trac lights all were on. I parked the vehicle and cycled the engine and as soon as i drove away it happened again. I have had problems with just the brake light coming on then going off after turning off the key but this is the first time all 3 have come on and i have had no brakes at all. I have researched and noticed this is a common problem and yet toyota has failed to issue a recall on this problem. I was very lucky my wife was not driving the car with my daughter in the vehicle.

Driving vehicle and abs activates and stalls vehicle not allowing for acceleration pulsating the brakes and leaving me in the middle of the road for about 30/45 seconds. It has happen twice already same thing both times.

I've had the 2005 toyota sequoia for 4 days now we purchased it over the weekend drove it home and it's been fine, all the sudden this morning the trac off light is on and vbc or vsc light is on i can't remember the specific letters, there's now a louder noise when driving down the road like a roar coming from the tires and the vehicle seems harder to stop, i called toyota there are still no recalls for this issue but after reading all the complaints it sounds like a safety issue, why hasn't this been recalled?

Brakes became "soft" with vibration in pedal and complete loss of accelerationpower. Upon review-saw this is a common complaint that is not being resolved by toyota. They recalled their 2003 product with the same problem. Folks go to toyota to have problem fixed - only to have same problem within months and some folks have paid upwards of $3000.00 and the problem is not resolved.there are thousand of complaints with this problem if you will monitor toyotas complaint data base and many other forums.will a family have to be gravely injured before action is taken?

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that as she was parking, she applied the brakes and the brake pedal depressed to the floor. The contact also heard a grinding noise during the failure. The brake light then illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a new brake booster. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 103,000.

Went to apply the brakes and they were solid and the vehicle would not stop.all of the anti-lock brake lights lit up on the dash and the ant-lock brakes engaged.after pumping the brakes repeatedly the pedal came back to normal and was able to stop the vehicle.placed it in park and turned off the ignition and then restarted the vehicle and it braked normally after that.this brake has happened on several occasions.

We just purchased a used 2005 toyoyta sequoia sr5 4wdon 01/23/2009.almost immediatelynoticed that the brake warning lights kept coming on intermittently so in the intrest of our safety we took it in to a toyota dealer and got it looked at.the dealership saidthe skid control ecu was bad and throwing the codes c1223 and c1247 and the cost to replace the ecu is around $2400 dollars after doing a few google searches i find out that this is a very widespread problem and cannot understand why there hasn't been a recall for such an important and exspensive part of the vehicle.

We have a 2005 toyota sequoia sr5, and brake light continues to come on.i have done searches on google and several people have complained about a similar problem.the light goes off once the car is turned off.the problem comes back on everyday and goes out off when car is turned off.i took it too the dealership and they said it has to do with the computer problem, and needs to be replaced.the question is why is toyota not liable for this, why do we have to wait for someone to die?read more: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/1gwf5-brake-light-continues-to-come-on-2005-toyota-sequoia#ixzz0gz0d6p2j.

My vsc, trac off, check engine light and the exclamation sing all came on for the first time since i bought my sequoia, and it started jerking and when i set my foot on the break it starts to pull, as i got on the interstate my sequoia accelerated itself the rpm when up to # 5 it really scared me i have to take it this morning to toyota to have it checked, i do travel with my children alot and that is a safety concern for me.

2005 toyota sequoia trac off, vsc trac, and check engine lights all came on suddenly on vehicle with 62k miles. Understand this is common problem and that toyota has recognized this as a common problem with these vehicles but will not correct. Cost to correct is $1,500 - $2,700.

2005 toyota sequoia failure of skid control ecu and brake booster, detected by diagnostic test by dealership.dealership service personnel strongly suggested replacing at $2k cost or the vehicle would be a safety hazard (brakes could lock up at any time, which would create an extreme hazard). As the vehicle owner i had no choice but to pay the exorbitant repair cost.

Toyota - there isvery serious problem with the vbs, skid control, braking system with the toyota 2005 sequoia!!!!!my brakes locked up and i had no control of the car in terms of handling or braking power - lucky for me i drive like a cautious grandmother and was driving slowly stopping at a routine stop.this event happened after months and months of taking the car in.after this serious event i knew that it was not a problem not to be worried about.... Toyota replaced the skid control computer - close to 1000.i was told this was a 99% fix.fastforward and the light is on again about a month later....now they claimed the master cylinder was at fault for another nearthousand dollars.the repairing dealership serviceman assured me they finally got it and said he would feel very safe for me to travel out of town.i was hesitant, but did leave to go out of town....only to find myself at yet another dealership with the same brake lights coming on.....and then going off when they went in to the service stall.they still have the car as i refused to take it back and they state until the problem "recreates itself"they are at a loss to date.to me to take the chance to recreate the loss of control of the car....and the braking system is utterly nuts. In short, i will not be driving that car ever again.nor do i want any other person in that potential "death trap."if the national highway safety does not step in.....i am telling you....there will be deaths!!!!!i have no question in my mind over this issue!!!!!please contact me and recall this for the life of somebody.

Vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights all come on at once.i took the vehicle to my mechanic and he couldn't pull the code as it was off by the time i got there.brakes had good pad left.the light came on 3 times today and went off just as unexpectedly.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While driving 65 mph with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle failed to slow down and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred multiple times. The brake pedal was depressed as if the skid control was activated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,735.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While drivingapproximately 45 mph, the emergency brake service light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the traction control computer was replaced. Approximately one year later, the failure recurred. The contact was driving 15 mph when the emergency brake service light illuminated and when she applied the brakes, they failed to stop the vehicle. The contact also heard a grinding noise when the brakes were applied. All of the service lights illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be inspected. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000. The current mileage was 72,056.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.the contact stated that the abs and traction control warning lights were illuminated.the contact took the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing which located the failure at the skid control unit and master cylinder, which would both need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,950.

When our driveway is slippery, our 2005 toyota sequoia will not stop on a very slight incline.the front wheels lock up and the rear wheels keep pulling the vehicle until the roadway is reached.toyota claims this is normal and the vehicle needs to be in four wheel drive with the center axle lock on!i don't know what they recommend for a two wheel drive sequoia.i have a video of the vehicle in action if you would like to see it.thank you.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact noticedthat the abs light would sporadically appear on the dashboard . The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that no failures could be found. . the failure mileage was 42,000 and the current was 79,800. The vin was unavailable.

According to toyota my 2005 toyota sequoia's vsc/abs skid control ecu needs to be replaced when i reported that i almost got into an accident when i applied the brakes and they didn't work because of vsc vasc trak and foot brake lights came on.i some how controlled my vehicle and saved myself from having an accident.now toyota is asking for $1100 to replace the unit.this unit should recalled by toyota as they are very well aware of the problem.

Vsc off light keeps appearing on and off. Antilock braking is disable when the light comes on.

Vsc, abs, brake lights flashing and abs light stayed on two of the times while other lights went offthis happened 4 -5 times making the car unable to drive.also i went sliding through a stop sign unable to brake.lost total control of vehicle while trying to stop.3)had it towed to dealer in moline, illinois.they could not find a problem.two weeks later, it happened again and i had it towed to dealer again in moline, illinois and they still have the vehicle.they are having trouble diagnosing the problem.they have replaced a computer in front thus far.note:the service rep. Is working on this problem diligently.however, this is a serious problem and a major safety issue.it has happened to hundreds of toyota sequoia owners, therefore, i am speaking out in hopes you will take notice in efforts to correct this problem and avoid killing innocent people.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. When applying pressure to the brake pedal, the abs warning light illuminated intermittently on the instrument control panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a technician concluded that the abs computer needed to be repaired at an expense of $2500.00. No repairs were made. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 40,000. The current mileage was 43,000. Updated 10/23/09 the consumer was informed the skid control ecu needed to be replaced. Updated 10/27/09

When i make a left or right turn my truck completely shuts down motor dies, wheel locks. For a bout 4-9 seconds and then powers itself back up without my control. Its started doing it only in the winter now it it consistent. I al most had a few fatal accidents behind it.

Vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights all come on at once.i took the vehicle to my mechanic and he couldn't pull the code as it was off by the time i got there.brakes had good pad left.the light came on 3 times today and went off just as unexpectedly.

Loss of abs system, vsc & traction control on interstate at high rate of speedbarely avoided collisions.unsafe.vsc/abs/e brake light all on.

Va. State inspection failed due to left front sway bar link broken and steering rack leaking and caused bushings to come apart due to corrosion from rusting out frame. Previous work done on 04/02/17 revealed issue but no one informed us of any related recalls.

One bolt and brackets of wind deflector of 2005 toyota sequoia fell off of vehicle and other bolt was loose.bracket was hanging down.i noticed this after driving and parking.concerned that wind deflector could have flown off the vehicle into the windshield of my vehicle or another vehicle while moving.i immediately took the vehicle into toyota.i spoke to the parts and service manager and was told that i would have to replace the part at a cost to me of $55.00.this is a leased vehicle with a safety issue that should be addressed and replaced at the cost of toyota.the wind deflector came on the leased vehicle which i advised them was to be turned in by august 30, 2010.

Frame has rusted through and has caused the structural integrity of the vehicle to become unsafe

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. When the vehicle was being inspected by the dealer, it was noticed that the frame was rusted and was unable to be repaired. The dealer stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and the frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.

The rear door has continued to have issues repeatedly.the handle to open the rear door broke once and had to be replaced in order to open the door.the rear wiper has stopped working severall times, and the window in the rear door has stopped working multiple times despite repeated repairs.

I took my toyota in for an alignment. They took me out to look at it and the frame was so rusted that the swaybar had broken and was resting against the boot, which it ripped a hole in. The other side was eaten away with rust and ready to break at any moment. The whole frame from front to back was rusted. I took it to my local dealer and they declared it unsafe to drive. I called toyota and they said there was no recall on mine. So they won't do anything. I still owe about $7000 on it and the way it is, has no resale value. I can't afford to buy anything else and shouldn't have to. This is not normal and they had to have used subpar metal on these frames. I am very fortunate that i wasn't in a wreck with dire consequences.

I own a 2005 sequoia 4 wheel drive limited edition . I received a letter from toyota corporation regarding the rusting frame recall campaign on november 3,2017 and scheduled a serviceapt to have my frame inspected and was told the inspection takes approx. 2 hours . Within 30 minutes my truck was "ready " meaning the inspection was complete. I asked the service writer of the outcome and was told the frame was good. Nothing was written in my service order that was handed to me sign regarding findings, perforation or status of the inspection results, or that the inspection actually took place. The service writer told me verbally that another service writer would contact me in a few days to schedule a cleaning and spraying of the entire frame in a few weeks. I don't believe the tech removed my wheels to examine the frame or thoroughly inspected my vehicle . I am a 5 toyota vehicle owner and explained that to the service writer. My service location is lakewood toyota located in nj, my service writer was angel burgos. I have extensive rust on my frame in numerous areas especially before the rear axle and after , in the area of the hitch assembly as well as the rear axle . I understand the criteria for replacing the frame versus a temporary covering of sealant . I understand that the frame on this type ofvehicle is rusting from the inside dueconstruction methods of the dana corporation being faulty in drainage design or manufacture. My concern that this product was not inspected properly and hastily attempted to get me out the door. This is not acceptable business practice to me.

On 1/31/20 i took possession of 2005 toyota sequoia, vin [xxx] and on 2/3/20 i registered the vehicle in the state of massachusetts.the previous owner [xxx] had originally purchased the vehicle on november 27, 2007 with 48,836 miles. [xxx].told me that toyota had inspected the frame and coated it.on 2/4/20 i visited toyota of dartmouth in north dartmouth, ma 02747 for set up an appointment to have two air bag recalls addressed. Upon their review of the vehicle's toyota service record they informed me that no record regarding the frame or frame coating exists. On 2/11/20 toyota dartmouth took the vehicle in for the two air bag recalls and during that time i had asked for an opinion of the frame. They completed the air bag recalls and told me that they were unable to lift the vehicle.severe rot holes on the driver side rear of frame where drag link connects to frame.vehicle is unsafe.? they recommended i call toyota because the frame program had expired but said that toyota might be able to help. I called toyota that afternoon and was told a customer experience agent would call me back the following day.on 2/12/20 a toyota agent called me and explained that because the frame program had expired in january 2019 that there was nothing that toyota could do. I asked to speak with someone higher up who could review the case. I was connected with [xxx], operations supervisor of customer experience at the toyota headquarters in plano, tx. [xxx] also explained that because the frame inspection/replacement program for my vehicle had expired that there was nothing toyota could do. I requested that he elevate the case higher to someone who could review the case on a stand alone basis. [xxx] told me that he was the highest this could go and that there would be no further action by toyota for this case # [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Rear hatch window frame and mechanism has rusted to point of failure.rear window fell into rear hatch and would not stay closed.vehicle taken to dealer who informed me of entire rear door/hatch rusting away from inside. Vehicle has never been in any type of collision.dealer informed me they have seen many sequoia's where door is rusting out.dealer reported that toyota is aware of issue but will to recall vehicle.i am still hoping that toyota will rectify issue as i was informed from dealer that repair would cost $1200.00.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the rear driver's side frame corroded and the suspension arms that holds the frame springs were also corroded. The contact became aware of the failure while driving approximately 30 mph, when the contact heard an abnormally loud sound. The contact drove the vehicle home. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for inspection. The manufacturer informed the contact that the warranty had expired for the corrosion repair. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 240,000.

The recall warranty expired on this vehicle on january 31, 2017. I first received notice of this defect when i took my vehicle to the dealership for another issue i was experiencing. The dealership notified me that the recall was for rusting of the vehicle's chassis and is dangerous for me to continue driving my vehicle. I usually receive notices, as i did for the airbag recall, however, i never received any notice with regard to the recall for the vehicle chassis. I have kept the same address for the past 20 years.i attempted to call toyota and toyota told me i should have visually noticed the defect. The defect is the rust underneath my car, which is not open and obvious. This was also admitted by the agent/supervisor. Toyota failed to even offer 50% coverage on this recall. How can a car company allow its customers to continue driving a vehicle with such a dangerous defect that i never received notice of.

Va. State inspection failed due to left front sway bar link broken and steering rack leaking and caused bushings to come apart due to corrosion from rusting out frame. Previous work done on 04/02/17 revealed issue but no one informed us of any related recalls.

I was driving when i felt the vehicle swaying side to side when i tried to accelerate past 40 mph. I pulled over and checked the tires there was no problem there, upon further investigation i noticed the frame of the vehicle had snapped and was about to break. I had it towed to a garage where i was told it was unsafe to drive, and that's where it's located now.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the rear lift gate would not open. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they informed her that the vehicle needed a new cable for the lift gate. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 62,100. The vin was unavailable.

Rust developed on rear driver side under fender.rear window glass malfunctioned and would not come down.

Vehicle had new front shocks put on as front shocks were rusted and seized, after inspection of vehicle, technician told us frame of the car was severely rusted and had holes in it. He felt it was very unsafe as spare tire could fall off and suv may not take impact from a crash correctly. We phoned toyota directly and we asked for a technician to come over to our dealer to view the suv. We were told they could not do that, and we had to go to dealer and have dealer look at it. Dealer looked at it and took pictures and advised us that is in poor condition. They are sending that information over to toyota. Toyota should take this much more seriously as they have had recalls on other vehicles with this same issue. I do not feel safe at all in my car and i bought this new and paid a lot of money for this vehicle.there should be a recall on this issue as this is definitely a safety issue.

Extreme rusting on vehicle chassis, spare tire mount, shock mounts, entire under-carraige.toyota has performed chassis replacements on model years up to 2004 due to extreme rusting on the sequoia.this generation needs to be included in recall or campaign to remedy the situation.

I recently purchased a used 2005 toyota sequoia from a dealer. The car has about 70k miles on it and looks to be in great shape inside and out. However, upon further inspection, i discovered that the entire frame of the car is rusted out with severe rust around the joints and welds of the underframe. I have lived in ne for the past 12 years and have owned my fair share of cars and trucks and i have never seen a frame that is this rusted on a fairly new car. My previous car was a 2003 ford explorer that i used in the snow/dirt/road all year long and the frame looked brand new when it was sold. Doing research online and talking to other sequoia owners, it is clear that this is a known issue and that toyota does not want to take responsibility for their lack of qc. The toyota tundra from the same years was recalled for the same exact issue and the warranty was extended and yet the sequoia owners are left with expensive trucks that can't pass inspection after 6 or less years on the road. To me, this is unacceptable and i really hope that something will be done.

There is excessive rusting of the undercarriage on my 2005 toyota sequoia.while the vehicle is 5 years old it has less than 38k miles.the rust is literally flaking off the frame rails, shock towers, and most other structural components.since there is no "perforation" toyota classifies the condition as normal.my concern is that in a crash, i fear that the structural stability may be compromised due to toyota's metalury decisions.

We have a 2005 toyota sequoia with excessive frame rust. This was assessed by toyota dealership and documented 6/19/14. There was a recall by toyota for frame rust for years 2001-2004 on both toyota sequoias and toyota tacomas were also involved. Toyota recently extended recalls for rust on frames for tacomas years 2005-2012 but not sequoia models. When i placed an inquiry and complain with toyota they stated there are no recalls for 2005 and above toyota sequoias frame rust, and that our 2005 sequoia is out of warranty and replacement of frame would be at the expense of us. We do not understand why sequoias and tacomas were recalled initially with the same rust issue, and tacomas have an extension on the recall for rust but not sequoias. We purchased toyota brand with the reputation of the company and vehicles running with over 200k miles. However, with a frame deteriorating we doubt our truck will last and have serious concerns about safety with a frame decomposing as it is. Toyota is aware of issues with these frames in sequoia and tacomas as evidenced by recalls. But if recall is extended on tacoma's why not on sequoias? we would appreciate help and toyota to rectify this issue. Thank you.

I purchased the vehicle new in 2005.overtime the vehicle frame is showing progressively worsening rust.i fear this will eventually render the vehicle undriveable.

2005 toyota sequoia - vehicle was recalled in 2007 to have the ball joints replaced. After replacement vehicle goes out of alignment 3 - 4 times per year, tires wearing on the outside on the front two tires. Now front end is vibrating when going 60 mph or faster and steering wheel is shaking as well. Had it back to the dealer many times complaining that it keeps going out of alignment. I am being told there is nothing wrong and an alignment is performed to correct the problem. I have had numerous alignments performed and tires replaced due to this problem. This problem started back in 2007 and continues to today with the recent vibration in the steering wheel.

I am reporting about 2005 toyota sequoia. You are likely aware of the recall of the ball joint for the front wheels. This was official as of january/february 2007. I was informed about this when i took my car in service in november 2007, and then in december i received a postcard. Anyway, my car's all four tires had uneven tread wear, with marked wearing our of the outer half to the extent it is practically smooth with no tread left. As you know the ball joint defect is a common cause for this. I have discussed this issue with toyota dealer and subsequently toyota customer service, without any help. I am concerned that this may lead to pre-mature tire wear and on road tire rupture with crash. I believe, toyota should be made responsible for reimbursing for the tire replacements. At least they should be providing a prorated cost adjustment.

The contact owns 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and made a grinding sound. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic and discovered a defective air injection system. The dealer stated that the air injection system needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the air injection system replaced. The failure mileage was 116,000.

After 2007 recall of ball joints, toyota dealer stated ball joints need replacing once again.

Extreme rusting on vehicle chassis, spare tire mount, shock mounts, entire under-carraige.toyota has performed chassis replacements on model years up to 2004 due to extreme rusting on the sequoia.this generation needs to be included in recall or campaign to remedy the situation.

The rear air bag leveling system fails while driving at all speeds.the vehicle bottoms out sending the rear end skipping across the road in both directions.i have taken the vehicle to the toyota dealer 3 times.the second time i took it to the dealer they replaced the air release valves in the system and that did not fix the problem. Toyota does not seem to know why this is happening and has been unable to fix the problem.i have read of this happening to other sequoia owners and in those cases the dealer was unable to fix the issue.this problem inhibits breaking and vehicle control at low and high speeds.the air bag leveling system needs to be recalled.i am unable to find a solution and am not able to drive the vehicle.

I own a 2005 toyota sequoia with excessive frame rust.i called toyota about a possible recall and was told there was no recall for that issue on that particular vehicle.i was told they would document the issue and was given a case number.i was surprised to see several of the same issues on this site when they seemed surprised by my call.i have noticed surface rust for years but during last safety inspection was notified there was a hole in the frame.

We bought our 2005 toyota sequoia brand new. It has excessive tread wear on the outer edge of the tires. We are going on our 3rd set of tires. The original ones were replaced at 28k and we are having to buy new ones at 66k. We have been diligent in rotating our tires and having the alignments done. In 2007 there was a recall on the lower ball joint for the front suspension. We complained to the toyota dealer at that time about the uneven wear on our tires, and couldit be caused by the defective ball joint. They disagreed and said that it was from not taking care of our vehicle. We told them that we had the tires rotated at the recommended times. They said the car was fine, the test for the alignment was fine so it had to be the driver. Since then i have checked out other 2005 sequoia's and noticed the same wear problem. I have also gone on different forums regarding this subject and have found the same complaint from other consumers. At what point is toyota going to do something? is a car going to have to blow out a tire and kill someone for them to do something about this defect? our tires are bald on the outer edge of the tread but still have another 25k miles in the middle. I am extremely cautious going around corners because the traction controlgoes into effect. I am frustrated with the response that i have received from toyota. There is something wrong with the suspension. When i spoke to a representative with toyota, i was told," that it is normal to only get 26k miles out of your tires. You can't compare your sequoia with the tahoe orexplorer." i have filed a complaint with toyota in 2010 and the dealership in 2008 and i feel that it is being brushed under the rug.the amount of money we are spending on tires and alignments is frustrating. I just want my vehicle to be fixed so that the tires have an even wear pattern and last longer than 26k miles.

I received a recallssc 70b concerning front suspension lower ball jointfor thetoyota sequoia.i called lustine toyota in woodbridge va ,and was told that they did not have the parts.i askedthem when will the partswill come, and was told that they didn't t know, and the parts came in a little at a time.

We received a ssc 70b recall notice. About 3 wks ago i called toyota of hollywood to schedule an appointment to have the part replaced. They told me they were out, and that they would call me when they had it. I called them today and they said that i was placed on a waiting list. That they are getting about 1 piece per week and that it will take aprox another 6 weeks. This is crazy!!! does an accident has to happens before they do something to fix the problem in a timing matter? i don't want to be a victim.

During application of a spare tire to the rear passenger wheel, 2 of the 6 lug screws snapped off at their base. Additionally, previously repaired rear hatch latching mechanism (toyota recall) broke again, which does not allow access to release the vehicle's spare tire, mounted under the rear.

Vsc trac, trac off, and parking park light come one and off intermittently.they will come on while driving and sometimes when the car is turned off and then restarted. They will be off...but sometimes they are still on.

When i am driving my 2005 toyota sequoia sr5 on dry surface, sometimes going straight, sometimes during a turn, the vehicle stability control alarm begins to go off and the corresponding light flashes on the dashboard.all power is lost - i cannot accelerate or even brake, i can only turn the wheel.sometimes, in addition, a severe grinding sound is heard, regardless of whether or not i touch the brakes.this has happened, suddenly, about twenty times in the past week.one day it happened five times within a fifteen minute period. I have four small children, and this is very unsafe.we all could be killed should it happen when oncoming traffic is unavoidable.i took it to toyota immediately and they told me there was no problem.i took it back two days later and they told me i needed a new yawr sensor.

I have a 05 toyota sequoia and have recently been experiencing some electrical problems. I had some routine maintenance done on my car in early august two days later my skid control light came on causing my car to slow down followed by a brake light. When my husband took it to the toyota dealer they said the tilt had to be zero calibrated. The same day after leaving the light came on again. The skid light started to come on more frequently and i got a little worried for my children's safety. I returned to the toyota dealer for them to tell me that i needed to replace the skid control system at a cost of 840 with no guarantee to fix my car. Two days later i took it to them to be replaced and they were not so sure that was the real problem. They said it could be the break booster and they were going to take a further look. The next day when we called to check on my car they informed us they had the same exact problem in another vehicle that they did replace the skid system and did not fix the problem only generated different codes. They said they were going to keep my car to compare it to the other cars codes. I still am waiting to hear what is wrong with my car. I have looked online trying to find answers and this seems to be a problem with this model. I feel the manager of the toyota dealer where i live knows that this is a problem and all but telling me it was not going to fix my issue. I have three small children and we all leave for the beach in three weeks and they don't even know what is causing this malfunction. The 03 sequoia was recalled for almost the same thing. I feel that this is a safety issue and could be dangerous. I have been very careful not to full in front of anybody due to this. I full out onto a road and my car stalls. This is very dangerous to me and my family and toyota is not doing anything to fix it.... This should be recalled!!!

2005 toyota sequoia trac off, vsc trac, and check engine lights all came on suddenly on vehicle with 62k miles. Understand this is common problem and that toyota has recognized this as a common problem with these vehicles but will not correct. Cost to correct is $1,500 - $2,700.

After i have driven my 2005 toyota sequoia for approx 20+ miles, when i apply the brakes the abs, brake, trac, vsc, etc. Lights all light up on the dash. When this happens the suv becomes a little harder to control. It wants to pull to one side when applying the brakes. If you stop and turn off the suv and restartthe lights go off. Most of the time the lights will come on a short time later. I contacted toyota in july of 2009 and they told me to take it to the dealer. I would have to pay to have it fixed since my warranty had expired. I have been doing research online and this is a big problem with many sequoia owners. Toyota does not seam to have an answer for this issue.

My vsc, trac and brake light all came on all ofsudden with a large boom sound. The car stalled on me in an intersection.the lights go off once car is turned off and then after turning car back on they will come on about 5 minutes after driving.car loses power every so often now.dealer said it needs a new computer.

Trac lights came on one month ago at about 95 ,000 miles. Car had trouble shifting gears and gaining speed. A reputable car dealer (not toyota) turned the lights off. Grinding stopped- car was fine. The lights came on again today when engine started. Again, car had trouble gaining speed and changing gears at 99,000 miles. Warranty expires at 100,000 miles or seven years.

The traction control computer on my 2005 toyota sequoia was found to be faulty. Toyota issued a technical service bulletin related to this but will not reimburse or recall those with this faulty computer even when their technical service bulletins clearly states that there was a problem with the skid control computer logic. In my case, the bad skid control computer (part #89541-oc070) caused my vehicle to not be able to accelerate in certain instances. As this problem happened randomly, it presented danger to the driver as well as other vehicles.i believe that this part should be recalled in all toyota sequoias with model years 2003 - 2005 as indicated in toyota's service bulletin.

A week after a 36000 mile service and not used for a week, when finally driven, minutes into the drive the emergency light and the traction dash lights came. When taken to dealer, was informed it was the brake booster and computer. I'm baffledthis unit(s) would need replacing at 36 thousand miles.not to mention that the first dealer's visit two wheel studs were placed due to rust. It's very disturbing not knowing what might happen next. The vehicle is used only for long distance trekking.

Vsc light comes on when turning corners.dealer indicates this is a known issue for my make and year of car.car temporarily loses power when this happens.car has 60,000 mile.

Vsc trac lightson 2005 toyota sequoia are on. Will be bringing car to dealership inthe morning.

We have a 2005 toyota sequoia and my vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights came on and stayed on when my husband was backing up from our garage we heard a grinding noise and felt the vibrating grinding.so i look it up on the manual and it tells us to take it to a dealer.but the dealership is closed so i looked online to research it and found that may people with sequoia's between the years 2003-2005 are having this problem.it definitely should be recalled.i have 5 kids and i would hate for me to experience a bad scenario while driving.there's many complaints so i don't see why it is not being recalled.

Both vsc and trac off warning lights are on as well as my brake light.fluid is topped off and brakes were just replaced by toyota a couple of months ago.i have pressed the trac off button but nothing happens. It vehicle appears to drive fine and dealer stated the skid control ecu is bad.however, as usual when going to a dealer, the lights are no longer on.still id 'd problem as the skid control.

Trac off, vsc trac and brake light on. All three lights come and go at will. I had simlar problem during warranty. For last 2 years it has come and gone. But this time it is more on than off for last 10 days.

My vsc trac, vsc off comes on all the time and don't go away. This appears to be a manufacture issue.

Beginning intermittently, but now more frequently, when accelerating from a "rolling stop", and simultaneously turning, the stability control light flashes and the vehicle will not accelerate.

Toyota sequoia 2005 - air injection control valve & pump broke. Causing car to completely malfunction. According to mechanic - a blade from the air injector pump broke - dislodged into system and caused corrosion and debris to enter into system cause over $2800 worth of parts needing to be replaced. Very uncommon part to replace according to mechanic. Toyota dealer had the parts to replace it - causing more concern that this may be a recall item considering the dangerous situation it presents when car completely stops working because of malfunctioning parts.

Code1223 1247 1360brake lighttrac off vsc trac all come onthis seams to be problem with thousands of 2003 - 2005 sequoia brake sometimes make noise so you not sure brakes are good when car in motion sequoia has 78000 miles

I have fixed the rear door latch about a half dozen times in the past 2 years of ownership of this vehicle. Each time the fix lasts about 2 to 3 weeks. Then the rear door cannot be opened. This is a severe safety hazard should the back door be necessary to exit the vehicle in an emergency. The problem is well known by toyota, yet they refuse to provide a permanent solution.

Informed of rust in underbody. Was told that in a few years the rust will make car inoperable. Want to know if recall exist.

Label for dot compliant vehicle is not on the driver side door of the vehicle. Trying to import vehicle into the us from mx

I have a 2005 toyota sequioa that my vsc track and vsc off lights and check engine lighs came on. It was on for 2 days and then went off.then 6 mos later they came on again. The dealership codes are not showing correctly. There hare numerous complaints from others for years 2003- 2005 people are having this issue, some people got a easy fix with replacing gas cap and others paid to replace a air pump, gasket, several valves and wasted money.this should be a recall and toyota should pay for the repairs.i cant afford this repair, what can toyota do for me. Anything.

These vehicles have a well known frame rust issue. In march of 2018, toyota deemed this frame safe after an inspection and applied an undercoating to cover up the rust. A year later the undercoating began to flake off, revealing the severe rust underneath. Last week, not even three years later, we were making a right turn and felt a pop underneath. The passenger side sway bar mount broke loose from the frame, and the toyota dealership told us the frame is so rotted there's nothing left to weld it back to. Other than the frame rot, the vehicle runs, looks, and drives like new. This frame, as well as many others, should have been replaced instead of undercoated. The class action lawsuit and service campaign are over, but i think this should be revisited, as there are still many instances of this happening.

I have a 05 sequiao great truck but... The frame under the truck is totally rusty everything!!i t doesn't even look safe i live in the south so no snow. My mechanic have already told me the sway bar will soon need replacing. I'm trying to see if there is a recall on this because if not it should be. Thank you in advance. When i turn my wheel i hear the sway bar or something popping!

Our vsc/trac light and engine light simultaneously come on for an unknown reason. Abs failed and car shut when abs is lock

On the dashboard i have vsc off.vsc tracking. Brake light on.. They r on constantly and won't shut off.. What is going on with this... I am worried my daughter is driving my suv with the dashboard lit like a xmas tree.. Help please

The vsc trac light is on , and engine light too.

Was driving and vehicle slowed down to about 35 40 mph and would not accelerate pass 40. Was in motion on a city street

Vsc trac---vsc--check engine light--and then problems with acceleration!!

Excessive idle speed, brake must be depressed hard to stop car from lurching forward or back during warm-up period when changing from park to drive or reverse

I get constant warning lights for brake, vsc and trac. This is a very common problem with the sequoia. It shuts down those safety features.

Slowing down to turn the vsc trac< trac off < check engine<brake lights come on. This has happened three times and i temporarily lose control of braking and excelleration. This is dangerous and nearly caused me to enter traffic in an intersection.

Car stalls when put in drive and will not drive safely.there is a loud clunk when backing up. Car does not have power getting up hills. Toyota mechanic says there is a bad computer that has been recalled in 2004 models.i

My 2005 toyota sequoia has had issues for the past several years in accelerating. The vehicle does not get engaged and it almost stops moving for a second until the vehicle stability control kicks in. Today the light went off again vsc trac and the problems continue.

Loss of abs system, vsc & traction control on interstate at high rate of speedbarely avoided collisions.unsafe.vsc/abs/e brake light all on.

My vehicle will suddenly accelerate for no reason.this sudden "unintended acceleration of power" comes on with no notice. I have almost hit a person and have been in one car accident as a result. This unintended acceleration problem has occurred about 10 to 12 times. The unintended acceleration has occurred both in stationary & in motion; and both on a city street and highway.turning has not been affected by unintended acceleration. Toyota has tested and provided the attached report to me but without any interpretation.my vehicle repair cost because of the unintended acceleration was $4,529.24. Toyota still has not responded to this dangerous and life threatening situation.the manufacturer could not duplicate the failure. Updated 10/04/2017

2005 toyota sequoia sr5. My vsc trac light, abs, brake, lights come on periodically for no reason.i have read many others have the same problem.

Beginning intermittently, but now more frequently, when accelerating from a "rolling stop", and simultaneously turning, the stability control light flashes and the vehicle will not accelerate.

The brake light constantly goes on and off. Trac off, vsc trac and check engine lights all come on. A loud rattling noise coming from the front end of vehicle and vibration the engine will not accelerate randomly while driving and the trac control light goes on at the same time.

Vsc trac, vsc off and abs lights all come on at once.i took the vehicle to my mechanic and he couldn't pull the code as it was off by the time i got there.brakes had good pad left.the light came on 3 times today and went off just as unexpectedly.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While driving approximately 65 mph the vehicle surged forward. She attempted to apply pressure to the brakes but the vehicle did not stop. She shifted the vehicle into neutral and allowed it to roll forward and stop. After the vehicle stopped moving she turned it off and then back on. Upon restarting the vehicle the rpms began to increase excessively forcing her to turn the vehicle off.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure.the failure previously occurred on tow occasions. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 60,195.

Sequoia 2005 2wd. The 2005 should be recalled.(1)while pulling into a parking spot at about 5 mph, the car suddenly accelerated, driving over a parking curb & down a hill.(2) after coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, i tapped on the gas to go & thecar suddenly accelerated, lurching forward.after this happened i took the car to the dealer, who inspected it & failed to find a problem.floor mats were no where near the brake & is not possible that the gas pedal stuck, because it accelerated suddenly.if the gas pedal merely got stuck, then the car would have continued forward at the same rate of speed, but in my case it accelerated suddenly both times.tw*

Vsc trac lightson 2005 toyota sequoia are on. Will be bringing car to dealership inthe morning.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated. In addition, the vsc track off and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.

My vsc, trac and brake light all came on all ofsudden with a large boom sound. The car stalled on me in an intersection.the lights go off once car is turned off and then after turning car back on they will come on about 5 minutes after driving.car loses power every so often now.dealer said it needs a new computer.

2005 toyota sequoia:when braking to a complete stop (lights etc.), while brake pedal is depressed, car jumps forward.this is ongoing from approximately 2007 on.took into dealership and they could find nothing wrong.car would not accelerate when gas pedal was pressed for approximately .5 miles.then it would engage.

When turning corners in motion, the traction control light illuminates causing a loss of braking and acceleration. There is now way to control the vehicles acceleration/deceleration until the light goes off. Typically last about 3-5 seconds. This happens frequently every time the vehicle is driven.

Car had very little power when pressing gas pedal. Took to toyota dealership where they indicated the "air injection pump" required replacement. I performed the required repair and it was $3,000. I've also seen this is a common problem with this model vehicle.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia.while driving approximately between 60-65 mph the vehicle skid control (vsc) warning light illuminated on the instrument panel.suddenly, there was no power response during acceleration.the speed rate was reduced with continuous pressure applied to the accelerator pedal.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two separate occasions for identical failures.the technician was unable to duplicate the failures, so a remedy was not provided.the failures occurred intermittently.the failure mileage was 40,000.the current mileage was 65,000.the vin was unavailable.

In the past two weeks following a rapid braking my 2005 toyota sequoia surged forward upon acceleration requiring applying the brakes to stop the sudden lurching forward.this has occurred on three occasions over a ten day period.

I was driving with wife in my 2005 toyota sequoia west bound on the long island expressway and was about to exit on exit 25. It was a clear day at about noon. The car never had a repair and has about 50,00 miles. The brake pads and tires has been changes at about 40,000 miles. As i was about to exit, the car sped up from 65 mph to about 70 mph even as i was pressing on the brakes. The mats were not in the way. The brake and the gas pedal was not having an affect. The cruise control was not engaged. After about ten second, the brakes finally kicked in. This has never have before or ever since. Nothing was done to correct the failure.

My vsc trac, vsc off comes on all the time and don't go away. This appears to be a manufacture issue.

Vsc off light keeps appearing on and off. Antilock braking is disable when the light comes on.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia limited. The contact was driving 40 mph when the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate and maintained the initial speed. The engine traction and stability warning lights illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer.the manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired and the vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 158,000.

2005 toyota sequoia vac trac disengaged lost control / accelerator/brakes/ took auto to repair dealer could not find problem.

When slowing to a stop, my sequoia periodically grinds when braking and the vsc sensor, abs sensor and trac sensor light turn on and stay on.

2005 toyota sequoia with a significantly high cold idle that persists 5-10 mins after starting unchanged by putting the car into gear and requiring the driver to stand on the brakes to stop it.once warmed up, engine will rev while driving without the driver pushing the accelerator but so far has only done this intermittently and for a short duration.

Trac off, vsc trac and brake light on. All three lights come and go at will. I had simlar problem during warranty. For last 2 years it has come and gone. But this time it is more on than off for last 10 days.

Driving vehicle and abs activates and stalls vehicle not allowing for acceleration pulsating the brakes and leaving me in the middle of the road for about 30/45 seconds. It has happen twice already same thing both times.

I was driving thru my neighborhood returning home after a heavy snowfall.i had my family in the car and to have a little fun i would give my sequoia a little extra gas as i would go around a corner to get the tires to spin a little.with traction control and anti-lock brakes it was nothing significant but the kids thought it was fun.as i neared my house i accelerated one last time before i was going to turn into my driveway.unfortunately this time there was unintentional acceleration.i don't have the stock floor mats, but even so i tried using my foot to lift the gas pedal.that did not work.since i was on a deadend residential street, i obviously did not want this condition to get out of control.when you are not in that situation it is easy to say that you need to put it in neutral, but when the situation is occurring you really only have time to react.i put the sequoia into park.fortunately since it was a heavy snow, and since i was probably only going 10-15 mph the car came to a stop quickly but no one was thrust forward.i had warning lights on all over my dash.i turned the car off and restarted and the lights went off and the car seemed to function normally afterwards thankfully.i have not taken it in for the recall because the current recall for the 2005 sequoia says that it is a floor mat issue.it is not.i am so glad that you are pursuing further investigation into the real cause of this very potentially dangerous condition.

While driving, the brake warning light, vsc off light, and vsc trac light all came on.pulled over and shut engine off.restarted the car and lights were initially off but came right back on as soon as i started driving.had advance auto parts hook computer to it, and it isn't throwing a code at all.

The contact owns a 2005 toyota sequoia. While driving various speeds, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The vin and failure mileage were unknown.

My 2005 sr5 sequoia has the same problem that was mentioned in the recall of the 2003 model announced today. It looses power when going over bumps or dips in the road and is particularly hazardous when trying to cross another road. I have learned to work around it but would prefer that it get fixed. Incidents have been many occasions since i purchased the vehicle last year.

Vsc trac, trac off, and parking park light come one and off intermittently.they will come on while driving and sometimes when the car is turned off and then restarted. They will be off...but sometimes they are still on.

The rear windshield wiper and window opener/closer on my 2005 toyota sequoia stopped working several years ago. I approached toyota about this problem several times and was told that although this is a common problem (and a safety issue) they would not fix it for free. They wanted to charge $500 to install a new motor and sensor. I have since talked to numerous toyota service technicians who acknowledge that this is a widespread problem.

One morning around 11/20/2018, i noticed my window shield was cracked in the upper right hand side. Passengers side. It also developed strange noises, rattling, in the dashboard. I had had the evaporator replaced, so i took it back to the mechanic to check the noise out. He advised that after inspection he noticed the windshield was cracked and loose. It had nothing to do with the evaporator installation. So i now have a cracked and loose windshield, with no accident or crash, no rock hit my winshield. So i suspect it was a badly installed windshiel. I noticed this winshield one morning while still in the driveway.

The rear door has continued to have issues repeatedly.the handle to open the rear door broke once and had to be replaced in order to open the door.the rear wiper has stopped working severall times, and the window in the rear door has stopped working multiple times despite repeated repairs.

Had problems with rear window, rear defogger, and rear wiper.

Rear window/wiper and defrost not working and rear door unable to open took sequoia in to be repaired before warranty expired and was told that the rear window motor needed to be replaced(8/2006)window worked for a short time, but unfortunately this was after the warranty had expired.it wasn't until the door was enabled to be opened that we took the car in.i was told that i was going to need to replace the window motor again, replace the ecu chip and also replace the door handle(approx $1,000) after talking with the service rep i was told that a tsb may have been issued about the ecu after i had my car serviced ant that they routinely do not check the ecu unless they have an idea that it could be causing a problem.well after looking at the tsb that was issued in june of 2006 it states that the ecu should be replaced.the tsb had been issued before my warranty expired!!

I am concerned about spontaneously shattering sunroofs.i understand this has been reported in various vehicles manufactured by diverse auto manufacturers.last week i was visiting my daughter in california.we were traveling in a 2005 toyota sequoia at 70 miles/hr when suddenly there was the sound of an explosion overhead.the vehicle seemed to lurch a bit but i am not sure whether this was from the pressure changes when the sunroof exploded or whether the driver may have turned the steering wheel slightly in response to the explosion.we exited the highway to inspect the top of the vehicle and found that the sunroof was broken in a symmetrical fashion with the central portion of it blown out.there was in retrospect only a smallamount of glass in the space between the sliding roof panel and the broken sunroof which would indicate that the majority of the glass was carried away in the air.there was no evidence that anything had fallen on the vehicle.we were not going under an overpass and not close to any vehicles ahead of us.on reviewing the internet information on this problem it does seem that it is not an infrequent occurrence and probably their are many cases that go unreported.my son in law took the vehicle to toyota and they indicated that this was an acquired problem with the vehicle and would not be covered by any warranty.i believe he is going to toyota management to explore having toyota fix this problem.i write to suggest that the ntsb place an alert to the general public asking for information on thusfar unreported cases of spontaneous shattering of sunroofs.this is a potentially very dangerous occurrence that could lead to accidents, injuries and death were the event to occur in an adverse scenario.thank you for your attention.

During application of a spare tire to the rear passenger wheel, 2 of the 6 lug screws snapped off at their base. Additionally, previously repaired rear hatch latching mechanism (toyota recall) broke again, which does not allow access to release the vehicle's spare tire, mounted under the rear.

After having a 2005 toyota sequioa serviced, the consumer found that there was only one lug nut left in the vehicle.(11/16/05) *sc
