The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that at start-up several warning lights illuminated. The warning lights illuminated included the abs, power steering, headlamps, back-up camera, parking support brake, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, drive start control system, parking brake assist, srs, air bags and pre- collision assist. The vehicle was towed to mac haik toyota (2112 gulf fwy s, league city, tx 77573; (281) 338-9700). The contact stated that several attempts were made to tow the vehicle due to the parking brake failure. The dealer repaired or replaced the abs control, ecu, brake actuator, passenger's side rear wheel speed sensor and wheel bearing however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer. The dealer installed new terminals 17 and 18, and soldered the wiring harness however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was again returned to the same dealer where the charcoal canister was replaced. The dealer also ordered an engine computer system to perform a replacement repair to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 2,293.*dt

The 2019 rav4 models have an issue with the roof rack rails leaking water into the a pillar as well as the c pillar due to a failure in the materials the manufacturer used. Not only does this cause issues with the headliner of the vehicles but this could also endanger the occupants of the entire vehicle due to the leak affecting the airbags located in the a and c pillars. This leak has a potential to affect electrica as well as the main safety component located in the locations stated above. Not addressing the issue could result in death due to airbag failures and could then lead to class action lawsuits.

Well documented problem online which i have with my vehicle.the remodeled 2019 toyota rav4 has a common water leak where the headliner meets the safety airbags.this is a result of the plastic pins holding the roof rail racks on being crushed by the factory during installation. *ln'consumer stated there was no service bulletin when vehicle was sold, even though failure was known by the manufacturer.

Roof rails water sealing failure - causing water to enter the vehicle on each side of the front a pillars of the vehicle and is reaching the airbag electrical connections which can lead to airbag failure during an accident due to corroded electrical connections. Vehicle taken to toyota of north charlotte to show dealership the damage to the headliner and request a resolution be completed. Dealership inspected vehicle - stated they believed it to be clogged sunroof drain lines and stated if it continues to notify them. Have reached back out to them as rain storm same night as service 8/15/2021 revealed that leak continues. No warning lights have appeared but symptoms are shown by the amount of water dripping into the cabin from these defective roof rails and running down the a pillars into the dashboard.

Leak at junction of windshield and a-pillar. Potential damage to a-pillar air bag

Roof rails leaking water into car. Headliners near the a pillar are wet and water leaking down the a pillar and onto carpet in interior. A pillar has airbags that may now be exposed to water. Anytime it rains in ga water gets in the car.

Roof rack seals failed, allowing water in above the a-pillar, which damages the headliner and could damage electrical and side airbags, compromising safety. In talking with other 2019 rav4 owners, many have experienced the same issue as the sealing mechanism is poorly designed.

Water stains on the interior headliner where the plastic a-pillar cover meets the roof.this appears on both side of the car. The water leaks all the way down to the floor not the driver and passenger side. There is a lot of electronic wires / connectors / side airbags and driver dash panel and they all get wet and appear they get corroded thus impairing function of the car and create danger or unexpected behavior of the car. The issue appears to be a pin that mounts the roof rails to the body of the car. Water will leak inside the car after rain or car wash. The issue appears when car is stationary and while in motion but during movement water leaks faster.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. While driving approximately 2 mph and attempting to park, the vehicle did not stop. The brake pedal was depressed at the time of the failure. The vehicle continued to move, drove over a curb and sidewalk, and crashed into a storefront. Police report number: [xxx] was filed. There were no injuries. The frontal air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic. Testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they would send a field mechanic to diagnose the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 3,100. *pm('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).')

There is a water leak that happens in the a pillar of the vehicle due to a faulty gasket on the roof rack. Water can leak into the side curtain airbags which can compromise the saftey of the vehcile. Numerous accountsonline from other owners as well. Please google rav4 2019 roof leak. I notived the leak as i was driving when it was raining, it was leaking on the a pillar in both passenger and driver side.

After periods of rain, snowmelting on the car, or going through a car wash, water enters via the roof rack area, potentially exposing the airbags to water. The water caused staining on the headliner all over (a. B, c pillars). The curtain airbags for the front and back seat were in direct contact with the area saturated by water. I tookthe vehicle into the dealership where i purchased it, and they replaced the headliner and roof rack hardware after confirming there was a leak (3/4/21). After the repair was done, a few weeks passed where there was little to no rain to verify the leakwas actually fixed. Yesterday, (3/26/21) it rained. I went to inspect the headliner, and the passenger curtain airbag on the a pillarwas surrounded by wetness. This poses a risk to the integrity of the airbags.please note, no modifications were made to the car- the roof racks are the oem toyota low profile (factory installed).this occurs (from what i can tell) when the car is stationary. In this case, my driveway.

Roof rack seals failed, allowing water in above the a-pillar, which damages the headliner and could damage electrical and side airbags, compromising safety. In talking with other 2019 rav4 owners, many have experienced the same issue as the sealing mechanism is poorly designed.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle was making an abnormal humming and grinding sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received a recall notification for an unknown recall in regards to a humming sound coming from the transfer case of the vehicle; however, the dealer diagnosed that no issues were found and informed the contact that the recall repair did not need to be completed on the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving and he had been hearing abnormal bumping sounds from underneath of the vehicle. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3.

Car lost power twice, going up a steep grade. 'hybrid system malfunction' warning came on the screen, gas pedal did not work at all. I was unable to get to a safe place with children in the car, both times on the interstate. Driving up a steep mountain, about 50f weather.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that the key was unable to be removed from the ignition without warning. Toyota vacaville (500 orange dr, vacaville, ca 95687, (707) 446-7000) was informed that the vehicle had to be exited with the key still in the ignition, which was a safety risk to the contact when the vehicle needed to be secured and shut off. The vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the key still would not eject. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The vehicle key will not come out of the ignition.the vehicle was place on park, the key will go down to the accessory position.however, when the key is pushed in to remove the key, the key will not move to the off position, so the key may be removed.

While driving down i-25 south of denver, co in heavy traffic at 75 mph, the engine abruptly shut off.i suddenly had no engine power, power brakes or power steering.luckily i was able to coast to the shoulder, but came close to hitting or being hit by several vehicles.when we made it to the shoulder all the warning lights and messages were appearing on the dash.after letting the car sit a few minutes i restarted it, and it did run, though all the warning lights were still on.there was a dealership 9 miles from my location, so i slowly made my to arapahoe toyota.they ran a diagnostic and said that something caused the fuel to be shut off to the engine.they did not know why, and could not replicate the problem.they suspect it is an electrical issue as i also found out that the right rear brake light does not work intermittently.since they could not replicate the problem, and had no loaner cars, they essentially told me to come back the following monday and hope for the best in the meantime.since i was heading to vacation this is impractical, so i was stuck driving a car i'm afraid to drive.my next step is i am taking the vehicle to the nearest dealership in fort collins, co, and tell them what happened and that i want the issue resolved, the brake light electrical issue fixed, and be assured that the car is safe.i've never had a vehicle die while driving like that, let alone one with only 4580 miles.i'm apprehensive about driving the car 26 miles in the mountains to the nearest dealership, and so far toyota has been no help.

The car has stalled twice out of the blue. It was taken to the shop, and they said the vapor lock had gas in it. They wanted to charge $1000. The excuse was when it is hot outside you run the risk of gas getting into the vapor lock every time you fill up... That is bull. It stalled in motion twice on a city street.

My bought my vehicle brand new on december 10, 2019. On october 29, 2020 the battery stopped working with only 10k miles. I called toyota and told them my battery needed to be replaced. Toyota told me to jump start the car and drive there to replace the battery. I advised my car was stuck in the garage and we would need someone to tow the car. When the 'tow' arrived it was only a maintenance worker that jump started the vehicle and said i would need to drive it myself there. The worker advised me of the defective batteries for rav4 and other models. Once my car was turned on and out of the garage, i was pulling out of my driveway when my power steering lock warning signal flashed. I called and explained i was an hour from the dealership and needed my car towed to them and the warranty i paid for should cover it. Subsequent to getting my vehicle back, i received paperwork in the mail with a recall notice on 12/9/2020 explaining the possibility of my vehicle stalling while driving, which could increase the risk of a crash. I pulled out my paperwork from the tech and on the bottom notes i noticed the tech wrote 'interim status' explaining that i was advised there is currently an interim recall notice for the vehicle, but currently no remedy. This information was never explained or given to me until the recall notice via mail on 12/9/2020 even though the recall was defect info report was issued on may 20th.

Radio suddenly loses sound, and then comes back very loud scaring passengers and the driver. Sometimes sound never comes back. Screen is faulty and has slow response to transition from camera to radio and back. Updates are required but dealerships want them paid for if not in warranty

This is about outdoor thermometers on cars. If they aren't accurate, what good are they. They cause a serious safety issue. Here's why. On a cold day with precipitation, if it isn't accurate people could get a false sense of security. Mine in particular is this. Mine reads 4 degrees too warm. The problem. If it's raining and it reads 34 degrees, i'm 2 degrees above freezing i think, i'm safe, no ice when in fact it's 30, 2 degrees below freezing. Do you get my point. If a car is warm, it's a warm day, there is ambient heat on the road. I don't expect it to read accurately. If it's cold, cloudy, raining, there is no ambient heat. The dealership says there is nothing they can do to fix this and they just aren't that accurate anyway. If they aren't accurate, they should never be on a car in the first place. This could kill innocent people. Auto makers should be held to an exacting standard on these things or don't install them at all. This is a serious safety issue.

This car is a hybrid, and has a so-called "smart key."the vehicle engine system is designed to continue to operate when the key is removed from the car, even if the transmission is still engaged. Usually, this should not happen because the driver should turn off the engine by pushing the on/off button before walking away from the vehicle.but it is possible to inadvertently fail do this properly, by either not pushing the off button, not pushing it hard enough, or failing to fully put the transmission in park before pushing the on/off button. Because the vehicle is a hybrid, it is usually completely silent even if the engine system is still on.the vehicle will emit 3 short, relatively quiet, beeps when leaving the vehicle while the engine is still turned on, but the various systems in the car often emits the same beeps, so they are easy to inadvertently disregard.if the car is left in a home garage, it can fill the home with lethal carbon monoxide.if the transmission is engaged, the unoccupied vehicle can move.there are multiple well reported fatalities from these defects.virtually all other manufacturers of vehicles with smart keys corrected this defect years ago, by automatically turning off the engine if the smart key is removed.toyota is correcting this issue in 2020 models.but toyota is not, to my knowledge, correcting it in 2019 and earlier cars.it would probably be a relatively straightforward fix, which could be implemented through a firmware update.because this is a serious, potentially lethal defect, i believe toyota should be required to recall existing 2019 and earlier cars and correct the problem.though i believe the problem is serious, i have not had an accident due to the problem

We purchased our 2019 rav4 limited in late dec 2019 (27th) and have experienced a repeated issue with the infotainment system (engine 3.0 premium jbl). While operating the car, the radio will shut off, reboot, lock up, drop calls, etc. We have had the car back to the dealer once after 3 days and they could not find the problem. We will be bringing the car back for a second time in 2 months of owning... Toyota has no idea why this is happening.

The back-up camera quit working within a month of purchase (578 miles). Anytime you put the vehicle in reverse the camera does not work making it unsafe to back in many circumstances.

Seat heater turns on automatically and randomly and gets way too hot. I'm afraid it might burn me. I have an appointment with the toyota dealership however it's my only mode of transportation and i work 3 hours away from home. This puts me at high risk of getting hurt. None of the lights or any indicators came on. There has been no indication that there might be an issue before today. Today is 6-25-2021.

The fuel tank is faulty and does not hold 14.5 gallons of gas as listed in the owners manual.the gas gauge is faulty and is not accurate.otherwise toyota is committing fraud by making such claims which my rav4 does not deliver.this has been getting worse since i purchased the car in july 2019.the tank can only be filled with 10 gallons of gas after the fuel gauge is on empty and the 'distance to empty' is zero with refuel now warning.there is a problem with a faulty gas gauge which is not accurate.even after filling with 10 gallons, the fuel gauge does not register full and shows only 7/8 tank filled.14.5 gallons x 35.7 mpg should show 517 miles to empty, but mileage computer only shows 392 mile range.392 mile range divided by 35.7 mpg is 10.9 gallons in the tank.if this car has a 14.5 gallon tank it is faulty.i have no idea how much gas is in the rav4 and range.this will prevents me from taking long cross country trips in rural areas unless i have to gas up at small rural gas stations and not allow me the range to keep driving during long trips.i am told not to let the gas tank run dry since that could cause overheating of the fuel pump which could start a fire if hot enough.i want toyota to fix my gas tank and gas gauge so that it will hold 14.5 gallons of gas and allow me a driving range of over 500 miles as advertised.i want a safe car that gives me the mileage and claimed range which are why i bought the car.

I bought a brand new 2019 rav4 limited with 150 miles on the odometer, now has about 460 miles. A few days into the purchase, i noticed yellow tick marked glitches showing up on my drivers center main console. This main console displays my mph, speed limit, lta, and more. I thought nothing of it as it went away for a few minutes when i turned on/off my car, but it would show up again. After these yellow tick marks started showing, my whole main center screen will go black with only the rear seat belt red light, park, and bsm lights flashing. In addition, my analog rpm, gas gauge, and temp gauge were all down. I was driving blind for a while, until i had to pull over on the highway/street to restart my car so that i can see my main dash (rpm, mpg, temp, gas, etc) again. Some of the pictures that are attached with black screen are examples of myself turning on/off my car while i was stuck in traffic so i could restart/see all of my main dash console gauges, rpm, mpg, etc.when my screen goes dark, i have to look at the other cars to match their speed because i was basically driving blind. This is a serious safety concern to myself and my family! i have a video of this scary occurrence, but the video file is too big to attach. I took the car in the day of this started to happen and it continue to sit in the dealership.

Battery keeps draining after not driving the car for as little as 14 hours, although most often 4-5 days. Per phone communications with toyota (they have repeatedly refused to communicate via email), this is normal with new cars and is because the car isn't driven enough. They have specifically stated that not driving the car for 4-5 days is not enough and even that the time it happened after not driving it for 14 hours it was due to not driving it enough. This was not communicated at the time of buying the car and the owner's manual only specifies that the car needs to be driven at least every few months to keep the battery from draining.

Battery goes dead and requires a jump start at least twice a week.energency brake does not always release first time.transmission clunks and grinds when shifting.has been to two different toyota dealers who tell me everything is fine and i don't drive it enough.bought it new in 2019 and it now has 2901 miles on it.

Fuel tank appears unable to be filled completely.although pump clicks off (on multiple station's pumps), fill level on fuel gauge is seldom above 7/8 full, and sometimes less.during one service visit to address this, dealership stated there were only 9.2 gallons in the 14.5 gallon tank immediately after a fill-up.

Upon pressing brakes while going thru a pot hole the electronic stability control deactivates and flashes like if the vehicle was drifting or without road grip.

Brand new vehicle had only been driven 20 miles away from the dealership, at low speed, in a parking lot, alarms began going off indicating numerous system malfunctions including;low brake power, antilock brake system malfunction, vehicle stability control system malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, electronically controlled brake system malfunction,pre-collision system malfunction, ultrasonic detecting & ranging system malfunction.

Was at drive through cash machine, stopped, put into park, did my transaction, put car into drive left to get to street via a side street. Noted at stops that the brakes were hard as when abs is not quite right. On a town street, two pedestrians stepped out into my lane of travel. I put on my brakes, hard.the engine rev'd and continued faster and i kept my foot on the brake, the women got out of the lane.i really don't recall sequence, i was terrified (have had a car run away with me long ago).but i do know it was rev'ing hard, i was so terrified i did not note if any dash lights were on, or what the tach (?) was doing.rav was in drive, i pushedlever to n and finally to park and the engine was shut down.i had pulled to the side of the street, so fired it up, and it was 'normal' brakes no longer hard.i cautiously pulled out into the lane and made it to the toyota dealer. It tried one more time to do a rev when i put the brakes on, but not like that first time as i immediately turned it off and put into neutral/park.toyota service person showed concern and drove the rav around for about 10 minutes and could not get it to repeat this. He thinks maybe i should have the shop bypass the automatic stop engine thing, permanently but there's not longer a way to do in newer ravs. So pushed the a button to turn it off and fear driving it.service man was going to call me back if he comes up with anything.he may not recall the unintentional engine revs of a few years ago in toyotas, which caused accidents and deaths.it was not the floor mats i only have the rubber ones, 'bolted down". First few weeks after purchase rav made bearing-like grinding noises when the auto stop was turned off so turned it back on. When a on or off, vehicle jerks coming to a stop and when moving forward after a stop. Car has <4000 miles. Bought new.

Driving at a speed of 60mph i heard a strange noise arise from the rear passenger side of the vehicle and smelled a burning (electrical) smell. I cut off the heater and seat warmers as a precaution, slowing the car to a speed of 30-40mph. Approx. 2 minutes later, my dashboard lit up with about 4 consecutive warnings 1. Antilock brake system has malfunctioned. 2. Lane tracing assist has malfunctioned. 3. Rear cameras have malfunctioned. 4. Parking assist with automated braking (pa w/ab)has malfunctioned. Brakes continued to engage, but felt stiff as though they may stop working. Was able to safely take back-roads to my local dealer (vancouver mccords toyota) where it is still undergoing investigation.

Driving the vehicle at 65 miles on a freeway i drive daily. While having the cruise control active the vehicle suddenly and drastically reduced the speed to almost 0 when the vehicle got closed to another vehicle on the right side lane making a right turn. The vehicle turning was not on my lane in front of me it was already in a separate lane making the turn. The vehicle has done this 5 times in the year i have owned it.

Vehicle shakes when idling, shaking increases overtime. Mechanic verified egr malfunction along with diagnostic coinciding with problem.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle independently accelerated and lunged forward whenever the brake pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that the vehicle doors would lock randomly leaving him locked inside the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to browns toyota of glen burnie (7167 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, md 21061) where the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact then took the vehicle to koons annapolis toyota (1107 west st, annapolis, md 21401) to get a second diagnostic test performed. The contact was informed that the engine, the driver's seat, transmission, tcm, transfer clutch, and the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,349.

Vehicle does not function as advertised, ecm appears to change shifting, hybrid, and gasoline usage at lower temps. Pre-collision system malfunctions with any visibility reduction, causing the vehicle to suddenly brake at highway speeds or to not brake at all with radar cruise active. Also have same issue as others with not being able to fill tank more than 10 gallons of 14. Mileage is as low as 24 mpg for a whole tank, driving very conservatively.

Once the car is warmed up (30 minutes of driving), the engine makes a very strange "moo-ing" sound when driving at low speed, slowing down or accelerating from a low speed.this started happening about three months after i got the vehicle (purchased new). It doesn't seem to affect the driving but it is a disturbing sound & i don't know where it's coming from.

The vehicle has an engine knock/rattle noise at cold start up.

1st incident: sitting at stop light for a few mins as normal. When time to accelerate, the vehicle started lurching forward in a hard jerking motion.2nd incident: slower traffic. When driving in slower traffic or at slower speeds, ~20-35mph the vehicle will start lurching jerking forward. Took back to dealership for inspection, there were no issues found.dealership reset internal computer, stating that "vehicle is operating normally". Neither has issue has yet to cause an accident with any other drivers at this time. I do travel with dogs who are harnessed and seat-belted in the backseat, theywould have been thrown to floor of car if not seat-belted. For myself, i get tossed forward several inches and head thrown forward.when driving in slower traffic and/or stop and go traffic, the car lurching/hard jerking forward will eventually cause an accident. All incidents have happen on dry city streets. I would assume during these incidents of the jerking forward that the break lights do not alert rear drivers that the car is in a stop/go motion.

I noticed that is a drip of oil under the car. Looks like it's coming from the engine.

Two weeks ago the car came on with an error message stating the hybrid system had failed. I brought it into the dealer and they replaced a relay valve and said they had been having the same problem in cold weather with other rav4 hybrids. Now today, i went to start the car and it was listing about 6 error messages, everything from the brake power being low, engine failure, etc. The car wouldn't start and had to be towed to the dealership.

I notice that my rav4 was dripping oil on the floor of the garage. I read the reports on your site and this matter could be serious, and can start fire.the car is new only 8.000 miles on it. I need help to fix it.

Vehicle makes a grinding/winding/lurching noise while accelerating, braking and during normal driving. Problem gets worse every day.

Unknown component or system while driving on the interstate during rush hour, traveling 60 miles an hour, another vehicle along side us entered our lane and we had to avoid a collision by aggressive braking and steering.following this maneuver, our vehicle immediately shut down.an 18 wheel barely missed crashing into our rear.it took us approximately 1 minute to realize we needed to put the car in park, step on the brake, and push the ignition button to restart the vehicle.

About two months ago i purchased my first vehicle ever, it was a used car, as a new car owner i was super excited for my first car, driving out the dealership! but later on finding out that the car had some sort of recall on it ,not knowing what this meant, i started doing my own research and found out that this was a safety hazard for me and others on the road!safety recall 20ta02

The eco boost made the engine to jump causing the engine mount to loosing out

1. Transmission sudden jerking/shifting when slowing down in city at traffic lights then trying to accelerate anywhere from 5-10 mph will then jerk backwards then forwards making the car jump about 10 inches forward. Can be replicated at any time. 2. Cars front end suspension seems to squeak/groan will pulling into my bank or drive way, almost any unleveledpavement. This happens at lower speeds when i can hear it with very little wind noise. 3. My seat in the vehicle broke at 7,000 miles. 4. My brakes sound as if the rotors are bent with slight vibration in the brake pedal. 5. No fix for transmission. Today they are reflashing the pcm - powertrain control module. We'll see if that will fix the issue but i highly doubt it from the damage that has already occurred. I am working with toyota corporate with the issue.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that while driving and slowing down, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact restarted the vehicle however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to wellesley toyota (234 worcester st, wellesley, ma 02481, 781-237-2970) where the mechanic retrieved an undisclosed fault code. The contact was informed that the code showed a non-specific engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Second time in cold weather, loss of power on interstate almost causing accident. All lights on dash flashing and flashing through several codes. Full tank of gas both times, with heat in gas tank. Engine rumbling and running on 2wd, very week power both times.

Purchased auto 3/20/19 and at that time oil appeared to be right at mark on dipstick.a month later noticed the oil level rising.took rav4 back to dealer 7/5/19 and had new oil and filter installed and dipstick set at proper mark. Dealer felt it was probably overfilled at factory.however, on 7/20/19 the oil is now 1/2 inch above the mark set by the dealer on 7/5.concerned this might be problematic for all ravs.will be contacting dealer again for possible resolution.

My 2019 tortola rav4 xle with 6401 miles on it has been experiencing problems with stalling since i first got it in august. I notice it especially when i don't make complete stops. It will stall and yank the car forward. It is annoying and embarrassing that my new car does not drive smooth. I will be taking it to a toyota dealershipsto get evaluated.

Regarding complaint # 11390472 i have not had a response. Please let me know via r-mail; bjcollier44@gmail.. Thank you. As yet, the issue, has not been resolved.

My 2019 rav4 adventure has a strong coolant smell, i filled the reservoir and in a few months got low level again, the smell is only with the engine running, i don't see any leaks. It's also make a strange noise in low rpm, between 1000 and 2000 rpm

Some times at take off engine shudders as if to die.at times when stopped with car in gear and window down can smell antifreeze. My window is hardly ever down. Sometimes exiting the car i can smell it faintly.

I forgot to turn off the engine (push button) after parking. The engine ran for more than 5 hours until i returned.unlike the traditional key that most of us remember to take it after parking. Removing the key will turn off the engine.i am of the opinion that this a critical safety issue:1. The engine could overheat in hot summer and may even catch on fire2. Anyone can drive the car away without the key.low or totally no key signal means the driver is not near to the car. The engine should not be running at all. For the least, there should be should be some loud alert.the rav4 built-in technology has an auto shut off feature on acc mode after certain period and remote engine start/stop feature. One cannot start the car without the key nearby. Why cannot toyota incorporate the auto off feature on the key signal level, i.e. Below certain key signal level turn the engine off automatically.i have reported to toyota.it appears that toyota is not going to do anythingat this moment.

At this time there at least 24 complaint about a "lurching" problem at low speed and re acceleration. A very significant "lurching" almost"stalling" is very apparent as the complaints indicate. In addition, the transmission starts in 4th gear...not 1st gear from a dead stop. I would consider this a safety issue. Has been an issue from day 1 of car purchase. Vehicle now has 5600 miles on it.

Recall for a fuel pump and toyota still does not have a fix after 4 months

Vehicle will not accelerate when pushing down on the gas pedal. This can occur when leaving a parking place or from a traffic light.

Vehicle is equipped with a low pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If the vehicle stall occurs while driving, this could increase the risk of crash

The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Twice this vehicle has stumbled when trying to make a left turn across traffic, applying gas from a near dead stop.both times would have been an accident if other driver was not driving defensively. This rav 4 is unsafe! less than 5,000 miles since we bought it new.

I am wondering exactly when the toyota dealership was notified of this problem.. (it involves, 20v-064. Also, 20v01200. I am under the impression they were notified of "low-pressure fuel pump .prior to 10/28/2020.it's hard to believe the dealership was notified the day after we purchased the vehicle... We purchased this vehicle october 28th, 2020. I truly think the dealership was aware of the problem before selling it to us on the 28th. Of october, 2020..

Engine stall and run rough when driving on a city

Vehicle will not accelerate when pushing down on the gas pedal.this can occur when leaving a parking place or.from a traffic light.the engine does not stop running.it has only happened three times, but could cause an accident.the toyota dealer could not duplicate this at the 5000 mile inspection and there are no codes set nor does it set a check engine light when it happens.

There has been a safety recall on this car for over a month now with no remedy. If this problem could cause the car to stall and cause a higher chance of a crash, why is it taking so long to fix? it is unsafe!

Update to claim #11233589:after going back to the dealership a second time because oil continued to climb up the dip stick, the service dept found that you cannot put more than 4.6 quarts into the rav4.the factory put in 5 quarts, and the dealership also put in 5 quarts at the first appt.the problem has now been solved since the correct amount of oil in now in the car.

Purchased 2019 rav4 hybrid 4/2019.on winding roads using low beams, lit up distance is abruptly and severely shortened as the roadway dips and turns. These headlights are unsafe, in my opinion. Santa cruz,ca has many such roads, incl. Hwy. 17, and using high beams is not always an option. It was unnerving driving this vehicle the first night that i owned it, and still is.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that while driving at night, the front head lights failed to adequately illuminate the roadway which caused a visibility hazard to the driver. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer rick mcgill's toyota (3145 airport hwy, alcoa tn) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the headlamps operated as designed. The failure mileage was 100.*dt

Cruise control and other safety issues randomly go off line. When driving cruise control turn off, as do the electronics. Further, the automatic bright lights are random to the point i have to disable the system. I have pics and video, cannot change format, don't know how.

I have a 2019 toyota rav4 xse hybrid. I bought it brand new with roughly 300 miles on it and since then have put on an additional 5700. I bought it in november and it is now february. I was informed and researched told me that the fuel tank was 14.5 gallons. Yet, every time i go to fill up the tank once the light has came on, i can only get roughly 8.5-9 gallons of fuel in and then the pumps shut off. I have filled up more than 15 times and every single time at numerous different pumps, this same thing happens. I am able to squeeze in roughly another 2-3 gallons but i have never seen anywhere close to 13 gallons let alone the advertised 14.5. We are supposed to get a max of 580 miles per tank and the average i get with this less amount of gas i can put in is roughly 410-430.

Fuel spills when filling gas.fuel tank does not fill to capacity at first click so when i add additional fuel in an attempt to completely fill tank, fuel sometimes spills out.

Fuel tank will not fill to full causing attendees/user to trickle and attempt to trick the vehicle to accepting more fuel. Range of vehicle is greatly reduced as a result of less fuel available to a tank of gas.

When fueling, hose stops and clicks, but tank only reads a little bit over 3/4 full. When topping off multiple times (which the gas station advises not to do), tank reads up to 7/8 max. Tank fills little over 10 gals, but marketed at 14.5.

When we first purchased the vehicle, we used to be able to fill it up all the way and completely now you can't fillit up all the way. When we first bought the car, we were able to get about 450 miles with a full tank of fuel. Now, when we go to fill up, we only get about 350 miles for a full tank when filling up the tank doesn't allow us to fill the tank up completely this is very unusual!

Received notice from toyota in october regarding defect in low pressure fuel pump. Have not received any information since.

Unable to refuel more than 10 gallons of fuel from empty for a gas tank that takes 14.5 gallons.

When the tank registers empty, it only fills about 9/10 gallons before the pump shuts off and i don't get the full mileage range. I have taken it into toyota dealer and have been in contact with toyota customer service. I purchased my vehicle new '19. When i picked up my vehicle up the gas display needle register past 'f' (a normal signal on most cars) and the car's range registered 548 miles to empty. That was the last time i ever say these highdisplays numbers. At my first fill up, the tank displayed 3/4 full at shutoff and ranger at 430ish. The subsequent fuel fills continued near these low number. I contacted the dealer about my observation and i was told that this is just how hybrids work. I then contacted toyota's customer service and began a case file. After seven months of working with the toyota dealership in salem oregon and toyota's customer service department, they finally agreed to tested my vehicle for the fueling problem. At that point, the dealership finally acknowledged that there was a problem. At that point, i began the process of a buyback for my car with toyota. Within two days, i was informed that they were going to switch out my gas tank for a new gas tank that was made overseas. I was told that would solve the problem. After receiving my new gas tank, the new tank started to exhibit the same difficulties as the last tank. I'm now back at square one. I began collecting data again about the fueling problem. This time, the tank was feeling a bit higher than 3/4 and sometimes even nearing the'f' level, but the range never moved past 460 (toyota advertised that my car would receive 550+ range miles on a full tank). As i tracked my fueling problem, i notice that when my vehicle was only taking in 9 to 10 1/2 gallons from 'empty' to 'f'. I'm concerned for my safety by not knowing how much fuel in have in my vehicle.

My vehicle is stalling when at low speed and sometimes high speed. It fails to accelerate. Every time i contact my service provider they push back my service another month.

Defective fuel tank design only allows about 8-9 gallons rather than the 14.5 gallons its designed to hold.toyota sent a letter last year that they acknowledge the issue but its not officially a recall.they said they would address it but no word from them yet.dealership wants to charge me to look at it.its as if they don't recognize the issue.

Unable to completely fill gas tank to full on 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid limited.can only put 9 gallons in 14 gallon tank (capacity in manual) when tank is empty.dealer suggests "topping" off which has already resulted in a fuel spill at the gas station.reported issue to dealer and told that toyota is aware of the issue but currently does not have a fix.this is both a user safety and environmental safety issue and is *extremely* common to 2019 hybrid rav4 users per user groups on the internet.

The gas tank is quoted as having 14.5 gallon capacity and i am only to fill up 10 gallons.

My 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid has a 14.5 gallon fuel tank. I bought it new two months ago and have almost 5,000 miles on it. In the two months since i've owned it, the fuel tank has never allowed me to fill it more than 11 gallons. If i try to top it off, it will just continually click off every couple cents. This is an ongoing problem, not a one time event.

Vehicle will only fill 9.5gal at pump. Requires not recommended force pumping in order to achieve full tank. Vehicle system guage will incorrectly read full despite missing 4-5gallons. Fuel guage rapidly drops quickly. I have given toyota 4 visits to fix the issue. They have replaced fuel system but issue persist.

The fuel tank will not fill up all the way. I live in oregon and we can not top of our tanks at the pump. The most fuel we have been able to put in when the empty light is on is 8.4 gallons.

Vehicle will not allow consistent fuel fill.pump often shuts off well short of full tank.usually stops around 7/8 tank.attempting to fill the tank fully sometimes results in fuel overflow and spillage.it is impossible to consistently fill the tank anywhere near full.after a "fill", i drive 20 or 30 miles and am already at a gauge level of 3/4 tank.this is on a hybrid, with the computer showing 40+ mpg.there is a flaw in the fuel system that prevents filling the tank completely.my estimate is roughly 1.5-2 gallons below full is when the pump shuts off.

When fueling my rav4 hybrid i am not able to completely fill the tank.

Toyota is knowingly selling and not repairing a potentially non-compliant vehicle. I purchase a 2019 toyota rav4 xse hybrid and toyota did not disclose that there was a gas tank issue. Toyota is false advertising that gas mileage and continuing to sell the 2019 and 2020 rav4 hybrids with the same gas tank issue. The gas tank will not fill to its advertised capacity and it is not get the advertised mpgs. It has a 14.5 gallon tank but will only take 9 gallons on empty. And i have only been getting 30 mpg and the advertised is for 41mpg. Toyota is aware of the problem and have been aware for about a year now and has not fixed the problem. I have taken my car in and i was told there is no fix. I opened a case with toyota and have yet to be reached out to so i can get the problem resolved. I purchased this car because of the gas tank and mpgs and now i purchased for nothing, this tank and mpg issue should have been disclosed at the time of purchase so i would have had the right to make a decision to purchase or not.

Tank was advertised as having a capacity for 14.5 gallons. I am not able to fully fill the tank, only putting in 9 to 10 gallons maximum. Toyota has stated that they are aware of this problem and there is no fix. I am unable to get the mileage range i was promised upon purchase.

Fueling: gas pump shut off when tank is about have full.to complete fueling i have to pull gas hose out of tank and place nozzel where i can see gas being deposed into tank to complete fill.i have had gas spray back on me.takes 3 times as long to fill.

The fuel gauge doesn't go beyond 3/4 full, indicates that the gas tank is not full. Yet, all the gas pumps we used in he past 7 months click off -- indicating that the gas tank is indeed full. Trying to top the gas tank (to get the fuel gauge to show full) creates toxic and polluting gas spills that harm the people nearby and the environment. I filed a case number with my dealer and toyota on 10/18/2019.toyota knows of this problem, no solution forthcoming as of now12/22/2019.

Toyota advertised the 2019 rav 4 hybrid as having a 14.5 gallon gas tank with a driving range of apx. 580 miles per tank.the tank only accepts 10.5 gallons and shows as full and only has a driving range of 380 to 420 miles per tank.the driving range is one of the reasons i purchased this car over its competition.

The vehicle will not accept more than 10 gallons of fuel and mileage range is significantly lower than expected/advertised on a 14.5 capacity tank

Shortly after purchase august 2109 i noticed the fuel tank would only hold about 8 gallons of gas from empty. I called the dealer and they were unaware of any problems. I took the car in awhile later and was told toyota was working on a fix and would call me when it was solved. I waited a couple of months and called toyota customer service. They said they could put in a new fuel tank but it probably wouldn't correct the issue and when they're fix came out they would contact me. They were correct the problem still exists. I've waited patiently and the car is now 1 yr old.i called toyota customer service and was told no fix yet. I asked the representative if she could give me that in writing and she refused.i let her know that toyota sold me a product that was not as advertised on fuel range and tank capacity. A question to nhsta would be if when this vehicle was safety certified was it done with a functioning fuel tank or their defective tank? can this problem cause a safety issue.?

Gas tank size is 14.5 gal. But only fills up to 9 gal.

Car stalls when acceliator is depressed while going foward before coming to a complete stop

The 2019 rav4 hv gas tank dry fill capacity is 14.5 gal us. Refueling always automatically stops prematurely at fuel gauge 3/4 full, which corresponds to several gallons dispensed less than a properly full tank. The gas gauge is accurate. This has occurred with every refueling since the first fueling when the car was new. The problem reduces the effective range on one tank of normally dispensed gas by around 100 miles or more. Range is a big selling point of the hybrid model! furthermore, filling very very slowly to coax the tank to accept a properly full fill can cause no automatic shutoff of the gas pump to occur, which can result in excessive fumes or overfilling. This is unsafe. The problem has been reported to toyota usa by me and by the dealer. The dealer has a technical case number and i have a technical assistance case number. Toyota's response for the last 5 months has been that there is no fix available. The car is still eligible for refund or replacement under the lemon law provisions (<15k driven or 1 year). The problem has been reported by others:https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t84539_ds1052289https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/cant-seem-get-a-full-tank-of-gas.1654530/https://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1004-rav4-5th-gen-hybrid-xa50-2019/1654324-anyone-have-any-issues-w-19-rav4-hv.htmlhttps://www.rav4world.com/forums/201-4-5-electric-rav4-hybrid-ev/298909-difficulty-getting-fuel-tank-full.html

When refueling, the fuel tank never reaches full capacity.fuel pump always shuts off at about 3/4 tank.fuel tank advertised to hold 14.5 gallons but does no fill up passed 10 to 11 gallons.

Fuel tank will not fill to full (14.5 gal) capacity.fuel tank will only accept 10.5 gals.

This vehicle is a hybrid. The gas tank is supposed 14.5 gallons. The gas guage never shows as full. The vehicle showed 103 miles to empty so i filled it up. I could only add 7.414 gallons of gas before the pump stopped on the 2nd attempt. It clicked off just a little over 7 gallons. I pulled the nozzle out of the tank a little and was able to get about0.4 gallons additional in the tank before it cut off again. The gas guage still showed as a couple of lines before being filled yet i could get no more gas in the tank. Also, it only showed my vehicle range as 419 miles. At 40+ mpg and a 14.5 gallon tank, it should show over 580 miles to empty. There is definetely an issue with this gas tank.i have attached pictures of the before fill up, after fill up and the gas receipt showing the amount of gas i could get it the tank without riskingan overflow. I really have no way of knowing how much gas is in the tank or how far i can expect to drive before running out of gas.i have more instances of this, all showing the same problem.

Tank will not fill to full. Several gallons less. Approximately 3/4 a tank is all that it will accept.

After the low fuel warningsystem comes on the tank will only take between 9.2 to 9.7 gallons.the fuel tank is a 14.5 gallon tank and should not need filling until the vehicle goes over 500 miles.we usually get just under 400 miles per tank full.somehow there is 5 gallons left in the tank when the low fuel warning light comes on.

Fuel tank does not fill to correct capacity. Whenever i fill my tank, even when the low fuel light is on, i am only able to fill approximately 9 gallons. The advertised capacity of the tank is 14.5 gallons. This is verified by the range and fuel indicator on my dashboard. The fuel tank stops filling at about 3/4-7/8 of a tank and then range indicated between 380-400 miles. Toyota advertises a range on 580 miles. Taking into account my current mpg, i should be within about 40 miles of this number.

Fuel tank does not fill up to maximum and leaves about 3-4 gallons short.this has been occurring since late 2019.i've brought this us to the dealership several times, but nothing has been done.

Owners manual states gas tank holds 14.5 gallons. However when tank is empty i am only able to get 10 to 11 gallons into vehicle before the pump auto shuts off. The vehicle's range is advertised to be 550+ miles (depending on current mpg), however the trip computer only shows an estimated range based on a 10/11 gal tank.

2 issues with this brand new 2019 xse hybrid rav4.1) fuel tank never fills up as gas pump clicks off at 9.5 (3/4 full) at gas station. This is now all over the news and blogs, and toyota seems to have acknowledged the issue, but no solution yet . 2) after toyota dealership performed brake recall service on dec. 8, 2020 (at less than 2k miles), the front brakes whistles or squeaks loudly whenever i apply brakes at low speed (at or less than 5 mph).when i arrived at dealership to speak with service manager (scott), technician was assigned and rode with me and confirmed the low brake speed squeal/whistle.after 2-3 hours, a different technician who was assigned to look at it claims "no noise observed after test drive, operating as designed."funny how they assigned 2 different technicians - one who observed the noise upon arrival, and the 2nd one who looked at it and claims no noise.when driving out of dealership service area, the low speed (<5mph) brake noise squeal was and is currently still there.dealer continues to claim cold weather or moisture may be the cause (really - that sounds amazingly false!) and refuses to acknowledge or repair the brake noise issue.it's as if the dealership (stevens creek toyota, san jose) is waiting for a recall vs. Acknowledging the issue so toyota corporate will reimburse dealership for the repair cost for the brake noise issue. Car currently only has 4k miles.

On all occasions, when refueling the vehicle, the automatic shut-off function of the gas pump activates when the in vehicle gas gauge indicates about 3/4 full.i can then proceed to add approximately three more gallons if i "nurse" the flow of gas into the tank.i am acutely aware of the potential danger of this process in that gasoline could splash back at person filling the tank.

The engine is non-responsive when making right hand & up hill turns. I can depress the gas pedal three times before the car starts to accelerate. This is dangerous!what is going on?

Our new in september 2019 toyota rav 4 hybrid has the fuel problem that it appears thousands of others do. It has a 14.5 gallon tank, but the system won't allow you to fill the tank. At every gas station, the pump is initially shut off with many gallons left to go to fill the tank. This leads to a situation where you have trickle fill to get it close to full. Trickle a little in, the vapor system shuts it off---and do that again and again and again until you feel you are close to full. It's easy to overfill and easy to spill gas onto the ground while doing so . I have returned to my toyota dealer twice and complained about the fuel problem. They assured me toyota was working to solve the problem. Apparently toyota has known about this problem since may of 2019, however, toyota continues to sell this vehicle with a known defect. I was not advised of this known defect when i purchased the car.

There has been a safety recall on this car for over a month now with no remedy. If this problem could cause the car to stall and cause a higher chance of a crash, why is it taking so long to fix? it is unsafe!

The fuel tank on my 2019 rav4 hybrid does not fill up to capacity and only allows to be filled up to around 10 gallons.i have tried sever different fueling stations, brands, and pump dispensers but none of them allow to car to fill up to it's full limit.estimated loss of range is around 100 miles per tank.

The gas tank is advertised to hold 14.5 gallons. When i fill up, the pump stops after adding only about 8 gallons. I can very slowly add more, but i don't know if that is dangerous. I have had it overflow and spill when i've tried that. The smaller capacity severely reduces the number of miles between filling.i also have an issue with mpg. A main reason i bought the car was for the 40mpg. But i've never gotten that. I average around 28.

This hybrid car has a 14.5 gallon gas tank and on a full tank, you should be able to get 570-580 miles until empty based on an average of 39-41 mpg.when gas tank is on "e" with only 10 miles to empty, the tank will only take about 10 gallons of gas before shutting the pump off. It will not take a full 14.5 gallons of gas, leaving my tank about 4.5 gallons short of its capacity, which would be about 180 miles i am not getting on a full tank of gas.when gas tank is filled up completely, it is only readiing that i have about 400-450 miles to empty and that should be reading 570-580 so right there, it proves the gas tank is not filling up completely.even going by the reduced reading of 400-450 miles, i only seem to be getting 350-370 miles to empty.although driving conditions can vary this statistic, it seems way off considering most of my driving is local and non-highway.for example, i waited until gas tank had only 10 miles to go before being empty, filled it up completely (pump would not allow more than 10 gallons) and drove on that tank of gas until almost completely empty.i drove 352 miles on that full tank and based on that with the car having a 14.5 gallon capacity tank, that only averages 24 mpg but since i could only fill it up approximately 10.5 gallons, it works out to 33.6 mpg, still below the stated average.so, i am not getting the stated mpg that i should as well as not being able to fill up gas tank to 14.5 gallon capacity.

Toyota's 2019 rav4 limited hybrid boasts of having a 14.5 gallon fuel capacity. When i fill my tank, i can fill it to 10 gallons maximum. The service advisor, aaron england, insists that this is normal. He stated that no cars can be filled to capacity. I am not wanting to fill to capacity. Toyota is not acknowledging this is inaccurate and says my car either has 3-4 gallons, but the sensor can not detect it or i have a tank smaller than claimed. They will not investigate. When fueling my vehicle, it stops fueling when a little more than an 1/8 of a tank shows remains until full. Online, there is much evidence from other owners that this is an issue and toyota is refusing to offer help.

Could not fill the gas tank fully. It takes only 9.834 gal of fuel instead of 14.5 gal.this is widely reported problem, but toyota seems not to issue any recall.

2019 rav4 hybrid xle. Car fuel tank does not fill up completely to the advertised 14.5 gallons.only able to get about 10/11 gallons in the tank even when the low fuel indicator is on.additionally when filling the tank with fuel, when the pump auto turns off because the tank is "full"the fuel lever indicator needle is no even close to the "f" mark.false advertising by toyota and failure to appropriately address the known problem.

Vehicle refueling performance. The gauge does accurately reflect the contents of the gas tank. 14 gal tank empty will not take more than 8 gal of gas. Resulting in a safety issue as you never know when you are out of gas.

After waiting for 10 months, toyota has still not delivered a fix for their known fuel tank capacity problem in their 2019 rav4 hybrid model.toyota continues to state that the 14.5gal tank has a capacity of more than 500 miles, while owners struggle to put more than 9-10 gallonsinto the vehicle.the reduced range and inconsistent fuel level readings have left me unsure as to how much fuel the vehicle actually has, resulting in frequent fuel stops and an observed range of closer to 300miles.

Received notification of recall from toyota in january of 2021.notice stated that part to repair condition would be available in late march.latest information is that part will now be available in late april.dealership has provided free loaner vehicle, but we want our rav4 back.

Bought a 2019 toyota rav 4 hybrid xle september 27 2019..reported gas filling problem to toyota on december 23 2019 after coming to wits end on putting gas in vehicle..can only get about 9 gallons into the 14,5 gallon tank. When i try to get moregas in it it back splashes and spills out which is a major environmental and safety issue.. Also had dealer look at it and there is no fix at this time so they say so have requested full refundon vehicle as one of the dealer options given me. So i have three case numbers. One thru toyota main headquarters then one thru dealer then another for refund request thru toyota.. On another note i also reported to toyota that my gas gauge gets stuck on full after going down properly for 100 plus miles driven then the gas gauge all of a sudden out of the blue goes up over full and its shows well over 550 miles before running out of gas which is miles to empty i can't even get it to after trying to fill it slowly for 15 -20 minutes.. .. Tried multiple resets to help correct but they don't work properly and that was confirmed by dealer that reset doesn't work correctly..

Stationary problem. Unable to fill car completely. Takes a maximum of around 9.5 gallons of 14.5 gal tank. Stated range should be between 580 and 550 miles. Never exceeded 429 distance to empty, typically 392 miles dte with 36 mpg avg. Toyota is unresponsive to issue. I lack confidence in fuel computer and system.

The 2019 rav4 hybrid limited i purchased in april of 2019 has never allowed me to completely fill the tank beyond 8/10's full before the fuel nozzle clicks off. As the fuel is used up, the fuel gauge inaccurately indicates earlier than necessary that the vehicle is running out of fuel. Many owners have registered their frustrations about this issue on cargurus.com and rav4world.com since the issue first became apparent following the initial sales of the 2019 rav4 hybrid. I have not found one instance where anyone is not having this issue with there 2019 rav4 hybrid.

I can't completely fill up my 2019 rav4 hybrid fuel tank. The fuel pump always stops way too early at around 11 gallons (estimation), even though the cars fuel tank fits 14.5 gallons. So i can only use around 80%-90% of my fuel tank capacity. Happens every time at every gas station.see attached picture. It shows the digital fuel level reported from my car to the toyota connected services after a gas stop.

Fuel tank only holds 10 gallons, tank should hold 14 gallons. Reduces driving range and time to fuel up - which was the main reason we bought this car. When drove car off dealership lot, driving range was 440 - drove 6 hours without having to fill up. Driving range was never more than 340 after that and had to fuel up about every 3 hours. Reported to toyota corporate.

Toyota claim that my 2019 toyota rav4 fuel tank is 14.5 gallon and average miles per gallon is 40 (40 x 14.5 = 580 miles for one tank). But i never fuel up to that level at all. The max i can fuel up is 10 gallons. (40 x 10 = 400 miles max). So it is loss 180 miles here somehow. If this is the case toyota should advertise their vehicle with 10 gallons tank for all of their future rav4 suv. Or they should fix the fuel tank issue here. Please help. This is something wrong from a brand name as a reliable toyota. I notice this issue right after i bought my car in may 2019. I brought back to the piercey toyota dealer and complain, but they keep saying this is normal for hybrid car. This is not making sense at all.

When filling my tank, auto-shutoff happens when the tank is at least 2 gallons shy of being full. I know this because my gas gauge does not indicate full and i am able to add an additional 2-2.5 gallons to my tank, though it takes a while because i have to push through all the auto shutoffs. It happens every time i fill up regardless os the station i'm fueling at.

The gas tank will not fill completely, even when fuel gage says 30 miles to empty and less than a quarter of a tank remaining. I am only able to fill max 9.5 gallons (spec says tank is 14.5 gallons). After pump clicks suggesting the tank is "full", the fuel gauge in the car does not reach "full" marking, rather half way between 3/4 and a full tank. I have brought the vehicle to the dealership and they are unaware of any similar problems although several complaints have been made regarding this problem both to nhtsa and toyota corp. They do not have any fixes for this problem. This impairs the use of the vehicle as the amount of gallons in the car is never actually known, as well as affects the market value of the car as it is marketed at 14.5 gallon tank with ~500 miles per tank. I can barely get 380 miles a tank. This car was purchased a month ago, brand new. I have made several stops at the gas station as my daily commute is approximately 90 miles roundtrip. The tank has not filled completely once since the purchase of this car.

Gas tank will not fill up in the hybrid model.it stops at around 8 gallons, leaving almost 1/4 tank capacity.this has been the situation since i bought the car. The dealer is aware and verified the issue

The vehicle's listed fuel tank capacity is 14.5 gallons. I have never been able to add more than 9.5 gallons even though the fuel garage was registering empty and the computer was showing 14 miles to empty.toyota and the dealerships knew of this problem in the summer of 2019 yet continued to sell this vehicle without informing customers of the issue. This problem needs to be addressed.

My 2019 rav4 xse, purchased in may 2019, gas tank refueling always automatically stops prematurely at fuel gauge 1/3 to 3/4 full. This has occurred with every refueling since the first fueling when the car was new. The problem reduces the effective range on one tank of normally dispensed gas by 100 - 200 miles. Filling very very slowly to coax the tank to accept a properly full fill can cause no automatic shutoff of the gas pump to occur, which can result in excessive fumes or overfilling.

The gas tank does not accept enough gasoline to fill the tank. Upon fueling, the dispenser clicks to stop when only 9-10 gallons are in the tank. The stated fuel tank capacity is 14.5 gallons, thus the tank can only be filled to less than 70% capacity. The problem seems to be worse in cold weather conditions.

My 2019 rav4 hybrid has a toyota advertised fuel tank capacity of 14.5 gallons. Till date, virtually all my fuel stops have resulted in no more than 11 gallons of fuel. I would like to raise this matter to nhtsa and urge nhtsa to investigate matter further. The biggest question i have is if there is a law or safety rule that toyota must follow surrounding this issue?my concern is that if any residual fuel (which in this case is greater than 3 gallons), may cause safety hazards for drivers and this issue needs to be fixed.

2019 toyota rav4 hybrid, unable to fill up with fuel. With fuel light on and 30 miles of range vehicle only allows 8.8 gallons out of a 14.5 gallon tank. Causing loss of about 200 miles of range. Fuel gauge stays slightly below f even after trying to top off. Unsafe as we never know how much fuel we have and could end up stranded or overfilling.

Unable to fill gas tank to it's fullest capacity. I find i have fill up very slowly, quits filling on an empty tank at 8 gallons, once i was able to get 10 gallons in.fuel tank never will show that it is full. Also, the car will tell me how many miles i have left to drive. 2 times i was able to get it over 500 miles but most of the time it is under 450. I really don't believe i ever get the full miles listed.

Since i purchased this car in late august i have not been able to get more than 8 gallons of fuel into the 14.5 gallon tank. Due to this issue the car has also only been showing it's getting around 25 mpg when it was advertised between 35-40. I have also been having computer issues and key fob issues with the car. Toyota corporate acknowledged something is wrong but has no eta on a fix. I oftentimes do not feel safe driving the car as i never know how much gas is in it as the tank and computer systems are so off.

Still waiting for toyota to remedy a recall issued oct 28 2020. They say there is no fix yet. This has been too long to drive with the risk of my vehicle stalling and potentially causing an accident.

The tank does not hold the "full" gas capacity that the tank is meant to hold. I am only able to put about 9 gallons of gas into the tank. The suv has a gas tank of 14.5 gallons and yet i have never been able to fuel anywhere close to that. It has been happening since i bought the car on 09/09/19.

After receiving the rav4hybrid fuel tank fix from toyota in march of 2021, my vehicle still only has a fuel capacity of 12.5 gals. The dealership states this is by design to allow room for splash back. 12.5gals does not allow for the toyota advertised range of 550miles per tank. I am getting ~470miles per tank, 80 miles short of the toyota advertised.the fix from toyota to replace the fuel tank and ascending unit had no change to my fuel gauge reading, distance to empty or fuel filling capacity.i contacted the dealer and took my vehicle back in again, the informed me i will never be able to put more then 12.5 gals of fuel in my vehicle and will only get ~470miles per tank; they were not able to provide an answer to the contradiction of what they were advertising the range of my vehicle shown at 550miles per the toyota documentation.picture show is after filling the tank. 466 miles till empty and avg of 38.3 mpg. If i had 12.5 gals and avg of 38.5 that would be 478.75mile till empty.at 14.5 gals, the toyota advertised and 38.5 avg mpg it would be 555.35miles till empty.the only way 12.5 gals gets to the advertised range of 550mile on one tank is if the vehicle exceded the toyota advertise mpg of 41 city / 38 highway. It would require and average mpg of 44mpg

Like many others who bought a new generation rav4 hybrid (it seems to affect all trims as long as it's hybrid), i cannot get more than maybe 10 gallons in the tank. Advertised is 14.5 gallons, and there is no such thing as a 4+ gallon reserve in a private vehicle, even commercial vehicles. Toyota responded with "call us" after 5 or 6 emails. I drained it of fuel driving from texas to california, let it run dry until it was electric only, then took it to the gas station (literally right around the corner from where i was), and it still clicked the pump off - to full (though it doesn't read full anymore, it sits just below "f") - at just over 10 gallons. I have squeezed every last drop i could once and it didn't even read 11 gallons from empty, though i don't normally ever do that so the evap canisters don't get burned out. The average mpg and estimated range on the screen adds up with the math for only having about 10 gallons in the tank, 36.3 average with just over 10 gallons gives me about 300 miles, which is about what the odometer sees per fill from 1/4 full, when i usually fill up. It's been almost a year and toyota has been of zero assistance even acknowledging this, though 2 dealerships in texas (where i bought it) told me it was a known issue, and 2 in hawaii (where i live now) repeated that info. Again, this is a hybrid xse - the premier model for sporting i wanted, the light sporting i do anyway, and it has other problems too. One is decades old with the rav4 (window rattle), the other is with the a/c switching between modes. I can live with the other two, but not getting what was advertised in the fuel tank is worthy of complaint seeing as how many hundreds of others posted online about it this past year. Toyota needs to address this problem before it becomes yet another legal battle for them.

I'm unable to put no more than 10 gallon of gas even tho max gas tank is 14.5. A lot less mileage than toyota claim.

Fuel tank capacity not as advertised (14.5 gallons). Maximum input is 9-10 gallons after fuel light comes on. Vehicle is at 16,000 miles. Capacity problem has been consistent for life of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. On numerous occasions, the contact was unable to fill the vehicle with fuel to the advertised capacity. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to ira toyota of danvers (99 andover st, danvers, ma 01923, (978) 739-8300) and was informed that they would not be able to inspect the vehicle until he brought it in for scheduled maintenance. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 23.

I purchased a 2019 rav4 hybrid in april of 2019. One issue with the car that i have not gotten a resolution for is that the fuel gauge is inaccurate. On filling the tank, it only shows about 7/8 full. The only way to get it totally full is to 'top it off' which is illegal in oregon where i live. The fuel tank holds 14.5 gallons. On the way back from a recent trip, i let the fuel gauge go down until the dash board screen said i had 13 miles left until i was going to be out of fuel. I told the gas station attendant help me this one time by 'topping off' the tank to check the gallons needed. The tank was full after adding just 12 gallons. That means i had 2.5 gallons left in the tank when the dash board fuel warning said i had 13 miles to go before i was out of gas. This vehicle consistently gets 40-45 mpg. I feel it is dangerous not to have the correct fuel total available. I took the vehicle into my toyota dealer (lithia toyota of springfield, oregon) in may of 2019 to have this issue checked out. The dealer said the did a thorough check of the systems that may be involved, but could find no problem. I am not aware of any recalls by toyota concerning this matter.

Two months ago i received a recall paper. In pursuit of this, i talked to shore toyota that the engine recall paper has arrived in my car and i have to work for it, but nothing has happened till now and even today it is 1/5/21 the paper has come in its for that, but it is not known when the work will be done. I often call shore toyota but they don't answer the same.

Vehicle is equipped with a low pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If the vehicle stall occurs while driving, this could increase the risk of crash

Impossible to fill gas tank to capacity.when tank reported as under 1/4 can only add 7-8 gallons. Will only fill to 7/8 of a tank per the gauge. Only way to fill tank full is to top it off.occurs at every fill up. We reported this to both toyota and the dealer. We brought the car in for service regarding this issue more than once. They acknowledged the issue but have done nothing to fix it. Running out of fuel may result in an accident or leave drivers stranded on the side of a busy or deserted road creating a safety hazard. Running out of fuel may damage the vehicles, including their fuel system components. The owner's manual warns that if the subject vehicles run out of fuel or the fuel is too low, the hybrid system may not be able to start.the fuel tank defect creates environmental and safety hazards by causing drivers to 'top off' (restart a fuel pump after it has automatically shut off) the fuel tank to try and achieve a complete fill-up. Topping off causes hazardous gas spills creating a danger to the driver, the environment and the vehicle. As a result, the fuel tank defect increases the environmental impact of these hybrid vehicles by increasing the number of trips consumers must make to refuel and causing environmental harm related to fuel evaporation and spillage (causing both groundwater contamination and emission of gasoline vapor).

My hybrid battery has yet to fully charge.i have only recieved double talk from 3 different service care specialist stating "the hybrid battery is never going to fully charge. And if it does,it will not last as long as the 8 year warranty."i then ask if others {owners ofthe toyota rav4 hybrid battery } have the same hybrid battery issues i have.the service care specialist all replied"all hybrid batteries have fully charged"

Advertised fuel tank capacity of 14.5 but only able to us 9-10 gallons of the tank, will not fill up as advertised ~550 mile range. I bought this vehicle for the estimated driving range and we aren't getting anywhere close to that. Took to dealer and no explanation or action was given. Help

Nhtsa recall number: 20v012recall date: january 13, 2020manufacturer recall number: 20tb02still no contact from dealer on when replacement fuel pump will be available. 11 months seems excessive.

The gas tank of my 2019 toyota rav4 le hybrid will only fill to about 3/4 of a tank. My rav4 has a 14.5 gallon fuel tank.when i am near zero miles of range remaining, i often get less than 8 gallons at fill up.there is not a problem with the gas gauge.the tank read full only once, when the dealer filled the tank prior to delivery to me.i don't like to drive with less than a 1/4 tank of gas, as gas is used to cool the fuel pump.this results in most fuel stops only accepting between 4 and 6 gallons of gas. I recently took a 3000 mile trip that was 95% highway driving and that was my experience during the trip.

Since purchasing 2019 rav4 hybrid xle in april 2019, fuel tank does not fill to capacity. Fuel pump (regardless of which gas station i am at) shuts off several gallons short of filling the gas tank and the fuel indicator on the dashboard indicates approximately 3/4 full. This occurs every time the vehicle is fueled. Unable to attain fuel range for the vehicle due to fuel tank unable to be filled to capacity unless i force extra gas in the car by consistently trying to "top off" to fill with more gas (as there is still extra capacity upon the pump clicking off at first). Contacted toyota about the issue in july 2019 and december 2019 but no resolution or explanation was provided on why this issue is occurring.

Unable to fill gas tank with 14.5 gallons even when empty.maximum amount of gas that can be filled is approximately 10 gallons even with low fuel light on.common issue mentioned on numerous online resources.

Vehicle's owners manual states that refule light comes on when there is only 2.2 gal left in tank. At refueling, vehicle only accepts 9-10 gallons without topping off/ forcing additional fuel. Vehicle will show less then full tank at startup after refuel. When brought to dealers attention, i was advised that toyota was aware of the issue and no fix is available at the time.

You can't fill it up all the way it shuts off and is not full by several gallons. One time we tried putting the fuel in very slowly and it overfilled the tank and spilled out! it has been impossible to fill up since purchase

The reported gas tank size of my 2019 rav4 limited purchased in august 2019 is rated for 14.5 gallons. On each occasion of low fuel, warning or less than 50 miles before empty notice, each fill up has resulted in ten gallons or less. 13 sep - 528.6 miles driven fill up was 9.485 gals range 534.mpg = 55.725 sep - 418.7 miles driven fill up was 10.185 gals range 579. Mpg = 417 oct - 460.8 miles driven fill up was 10.343 gals range 585. Mpg = 4418 oct - 430 miles driven fill up was 10.058 gals range 577. Mpg = 42.7 28 oct - 423.5 miles driven fill up was 9.619 gals range 560. Mpg = 447 nov - 420.5 miles driven fill up was 10.071 gals range 545. Mpg = 41.716 nov - 309.3 miles driven fill up was 7.808 gallons range 539. Mpg = 39.625 nov ' 382.7 miles driven fill up was 10.685 gallons range 568. Mpg = 35.8the tank size as indicated does not equate to the need to refill to capacity of 14.5 gallons. Where or what has happened to the 4.5 gallons of tank fuel that we seem to not being able to access?

The vehicle cannot be refueled fully without topoff, reducing the driving range of the vehicle.

Rav4 2019 hybrid will not allow me to fill it past approximately 10 gallons. When i contacted the dealership they informed they were aware of said issue and that toyota currently doesn't not have a fix or active recall for the issue. When i searched independently i noticed that many people sight this same issue.

When fueling, the tank will not completely fill. If you attempt to continue to fill very slowly the tank over fills and you have problems with the vapor recovery system.

Fuel tank will not fill completely.when fueling, the pump consistently shuts offbefore tank indicator reaches "full".toyota is aware of this issue but refuses to fix my vehicle despite the customer support program notification which is currently occurring.i visited my dealer who was able to fill the tank by repeatedly adding small amounts of gasoline each time the fuel pump shut off.new jersey, where i reside, does not allow for self-service filling and it is not practical, nor safe, to fill the vehicle in this manner.toyota acknowledges that there is an issue with the shape of the fuel tank and/or the fuel sender gauge.given toyota's unwillingness to address this known issue, and the hazardous situation created by repeatedly restarting the fuel pump after each shut-off in order to reach "full" on the tank, toyota should be mandated to initiate a recall of all affected vehicles, where "affected" includes all vehicles that fail to fill the tank after the initial shut-off of the fuel pump.

I purchased the new 2019 rav4 hybrid on 11/29/2019 at prime motors in saco, maine. It currently has 725 miles on it. When i attempt tofill it it won't fill all the way. It's advertised to have a 14.5 gallon tank but only holds about 10 gallons. The dealership advised me to keep pumping after the pump shuts off. This is very bad advice as it could overflow and cause a fire.

Qwner of a2019 rav 4 hybrid, xse. I've owned the vehicle since early august 2019. And have felt extremely frustratedwith being unable to 'fill' the gas tank to it's capacity. It's exasperating that with a 14 gallon tank, at fill up it will accept only 9-9.5 gallons of fuel at most before the fuel fill sensor will not accept further refueling. When i purchased the car in august, driving the car off the lot, the estimated mileage on a full tank was 513 miles. I have not been able to fill the tank to get that estimation of mileage since. The best i've been able to get is 443, the tank will not accept the fuel. Additionally, while i expected to avg. 40-42 miles/gal, i get approximately 34-35 mpg. This too is also ridiculous. I drive the car in econo mode to further enhance better mileage.i will report to toyota...i use the car mainly for highway driving and not being able to pass a few gas stations, is not why i bought this car! i feel that the estimated height mpg was grossly overstated by toyota.

The gas tank should be 14 gallons, however i am only able to but in to the tank aprox 8 gallons. I can force approx 1 more gallon by pulling out the nozzle on the fuel pump. The trip estimator will say it can only go high 300 to low 400 miles.when i bought new off the lot it was with a max filled tank and trip estimator was at 500 plus miles.the gas gauge never shows full and it doesn't appear to be accurate as to when the tank is low/empty compared with mileage estimator.

Fuel system does not hold the amount according to the manufactures specifications. This appears to cause the gas gauge to show incorrect, which could lead to running out of gas. Dealer said there was nothing they could do to fix the problem and that this was a toyota issue.

I bought my car brand new in august 2019 and within a few months began to see issues with the gas tank fill-up and mileage gage. The main issue i saw was the gas tank not being able to fill all the way. When i fill the tank up normally (letting the gas pump run and click off on its own), the tank fill-upgage shows it only about 3/4 of the way full (i.e. The gas pump stops filling significantly short of the tank being full). After this, i forcefully top up the tank numerous times (6-7 times) to get it even close to the full mark on the tank gage. Even when the gage reads the tank as full, i've only filled up the tank about 10 gallons even though the tank is supposed to hold 14 or 15 gallons. Additionally, the miles to empty gage seems off from reality. When tracking my miles, the gage seems to be around 50 miles off calibration from how far i travel (i.e. When i travel 200 miles, the miles to empty reading decreases 250 miles). This may or may not be related to the gas fill-up issue. I called my local dealership regarding this issue, who informed me they were aware of this issue and have put me on a list of other owners who are dealing with the same issue. It seems that this is a very prevalent issue. It has been 6 months since purchasing my car and i still have not heard of any fix.

When filling my gas tank the fuel system does the auto shut off before the fuel tank is full. The first few times i filled the new vehicle, i put the nozzle back in the pump thinking it was full, but when i started my car, the fuel gauge registered about 2-3 ticks below the full line, so maybe 7/8 full.the next few times i continued to fill well past the automatic fuel shut off and put in at least 2-3 gallons more. This goes against environment recommendations but i should be able to get a full tank of gas on a new car, not just 9 gallon on a 14.5 gallon tank.

Purchased a new 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid awd xle on 10/24/19.fuel capacity appears to be about 11 gallons, as opposed to the 14.5 gallons advertised.i have run the car down to below 10miles of range multiple times and get the same result.this 25% understatement of fuel capacity translates into roughly 100 miles less of total range than the advertised 537-595 miles of range.see attached pics.

Gas tank is rated at 14.5 gallons. But it can only accept 9-10 gallons when i fuel up well after the low fuel light.

Gas tank is supposedly 14 gallons but vehicle will not take more than 9 gallons.

My 2019 rav4 le has a 14.5 gallon fuel tank and only takes about 8 to 9 gallons of gas when i fill up from empty. When i first purchased the vehicle i was getting 450 miles per full tank and now the most i get is 330. I took the car to the dealer and they said that it was normal even though my car was getting 22 miles to the gallon and not 26 mpg which would be on the low end.

I purchased car sept 2019, since purchasing i have been unable to fill my gas tank to full capacity.i only fill up 9 gallons before it kicks off, my range has never been more than 450 miles when i was told 550 miles before fill up. This apparently was a problem before i purchased by car but was not disclosed at time of purchase. Reported to dealership and just keep getting told waiting on a fix from toyota.

Fuel tank on my 2019 rav4 hybrid xsewill not fill completely. Typically shuts off at 9-10 gallons and i cannot get much more in no matter how low the fuel indicator or how often i remove, replace and reactivate the filler nozzle.i have notified toyota and received a case number. There are hundreds of similar complaints viewable on line and toyota is taking a long time to find a fix. Meantime, the epa-advertised 580 miles of range is a big joke.

Fuel tank capacity 14.5 gallons can only be filled to 9.5 gallons without aggressive "topping off". In order to avoid possible environmental harm and vehicle emission control damage, topping off not used. However, this leaves the vehicle 5 gallons short of a full tank (about 200 mile range loss)

Mte, gallons to fill up, don't equal the miles to go after a fill up. Have had car a year, have only filled up once more than 10 or so gals, doesn't matter how many miles to empty show on gauges. Don't get anywher near the miles driven that was told to me. I fill up, usually takes about 9-10 gls. Will have less than 500 miles to drive on that tank of gas.driving local and on highway.

The gas tank will not fill up.if it is dead empty, the most we can get the tank to except is 10 gallons.the vehicle is suppose to except 14.5 gallons.because of this issue, we are having to fill the tank up more often.the vehicle specs state it should get 507 miles per tank and we get around 400 miles per tank.

Battery does not fully charge, when i use the ev mode it will drain the battery to having only 3 green lines and wont want to access the ev mode saying battery is too low. This takes about 10 min to drain.when i go put gas i usually try to fill up the tank.i leave the pump on so it can fill automatically.at one time it clicked to where it indicates its full.when i went to drive off i noticed that the fuel indicator was lower than full tank.i though it was the gas pump.went again to fuel up and did the same thing but this time i had to stand there to fuel up myself this time it took more gallons then it should have taken. So there is something defiantly wrong with the intake tank of this rav4

Recall for a fuel pump and toyota still does not have a fix after 4 months

Fuel tank does not properly fill, and often results in gas spilling out of the vehicle as a owner is forced to manually "top off" the vehicle to fill the tank.others are experiencing this same issue: https://www.rav4world.com/threads/difficulty-with-getting-fuel-tank-full.298909/

Purchased a 2019 rav4 xse on july 6th 2019. The fuel tank will not accept a full tank of gasoline. The gauge never displays more than 3/4 - 7/8 of a tank. Attempts to top off leads to fuel overflow. Dealerships all provide a "we've never heard of this" despite multiple class action lawsuits.

Unable to fill gas tank beyond 9.5 gallons even though the car has a 14.5 gallon tank. Gas light was on and car estimating 35 miles to empty when i filled it. When i get back in the car my fuel gauge shows that the tank is full. I'm averaging about 350 miles per tank right now.

Bought new from dealer in 10/19.14.5 gal fuel tank will not accept more than 9.8 gallons even after ~20 miles after it shows 0 miles of range.this leaves 3-4 gallons (>120 miles of range) unavailable!!not as advertised.toyota is aware, but doing nothing!!!

The car claims 14.5 gallon tank.you can only put 10 gallons in the tank.if you put more, it spills all over the ground.instead of a range of 560, itonly has a 400 mile range.this has happened multiple times over the past month. If the tank show half full, you can only put in 4.3 gallons.

While feeling the gas, at almost emtpy, i didn,'t went above the 10 gallons. This requiered me to go multiple times to the gas station to fill io the gastank. Moreover, the gas range has decreased from almost 500 miles to less than 380 miles in range from 2 months ago till now. The milage of the vehicle is less around 2,800 miles. Vehicle was bought in august of 2019

Stated capacity of fuel tank is 14.5 gallons. Even when absolutely close to empty ("20 miles left in tank"), the most i can fill up tank is 9 to 10 gallons. Advertised range of vehicle is 500 miles. I'm lucky if i get 400 miles from a single tank.

Unable to completely fill the gas tank when refueling. Pump shuts off when tank is approximately 7/8 full and am forced to "top off" to completely fill tank.

2019 rav4 hybrid exhibits fueling problems, consistently.parked on level concrete, shut off, in "refuel" status, at the fuel island,it dependably suffers abject failure at attempts to refill the gasoline tank at the fuel pump.with the fuel pump nozzle set to lowest flow setting, at any moment, the fuel being pumped down the filler tube surges back up the filler tube, occasionally spilling out onto the side of the car and the ground.other times, with the pump nozzle set to lowest flow settings, it may automatically and arbitrarily shut off after 1 gallon or 4 gallons, when the miles driven along with the fuel gauge indicates the tank requires at least 10 gallons.it is impossible to know from one fill-up to the next fill-up if the tank is full, close to full, or several gallons shy of full.refueling the rav4 hybrid is a challenge that defeats the best mechanical and fluid dynamics aware person trying to fill the tank.this issue is ongoing and has been occurring since the vehicle was purchased new with 9 miles on the odometer on august 19, 2019.

Car lost power twice, going up a steep grade. 'hybrid system malfunction' warning came on the screen, gas pedal did not work at all. I was unable to get to a safe place with children in the car, both times on the interstate. Driving up a steep mountain, about 50f weather.

I have been unable to fill the gas tank full for the entire duration of ownership. The pump cuts off about 3 gallons short. The problem is getting progressively worse and topping up doesn't help either. The dealership was unable to help saying toyota is aware of the problem but they do not have any solution for it.

I am unable to get the 14.5 gallons when filling up. Most of the time, i get about 10 gallons. This drops the range from the advertise 600 to about 520 miles.

Gas tank does not fill fully. Only fills to 10 gallons each time i fill it up, which only gives me around 400 miles of driving.

Moaning, buzzing noise of front differential when acceleration to 35mph, also upon deceleration, especiallywhen car is hot.

The info show this car have 14.5 gal, but no matter how i refill the gas, everytime it only ran up to around 10 gal can't be go more for that.

Toyota advertises the range of its 2019 rav4 hybrid as around 550 to 590 miles on a full tank of gas, of which the capacity is 14.5 gallons. However, i've been driving mine for 2 months now and have yet to reach the 400 miles mark even when averaging 40mpg fuel economy. The fuel gauge always stops at over one bar from full. This is a well-known defect and has been widely discussed and complaint on many forums. So far toyota and its dealerships have failed to address this issue and the most common answer customers usually get is "there's no such problem, try another gas pump". This is simply unacceptable coming from such a large and reputable automaker such as toyota!

The fuel tank will only take about 12 gallons of gas instead of it's 14.5 gallon capacity.the dealer acknowledged the issue and i was told toyota was working on a fix and would contact me when it was solved.can this problem cause a safety issue.?

Fuel pump automatically shuts off but the fuel indicator shows 1 -2 bar less than full . Maximum possible fuel that i was able to fill when the vehicle was near empty is 10.2 gallons (its still 1 - 2 bars below full)

I bought my bought a 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid a couple months ago. I like it for the most part, but one of the primary reasons i bought it was for the advertised ~550 mile range. However, every time i've put in a full tank, the 'mile range' at the front dash shows around 430 miles. I got the tank replaced by atlantic toyota in west islip but my tank is only getting 9 gallons of fuel when the tank is 14.5 gallons.2019 toyota rav4 hybrid xle awd

My 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid limited built in japan has a fuel fill up issue that pevents the car from being fully fueled under normal circumstances.the gas pump will shut off 1-2 gallons before the tank is actually full, meaning that in order to get a full tank, the user has to force fuel into the tank.this presents two problems: 1) this is a concern because there is some sort of pressure issue inside the gas tank that's prevening proper filling which could result in gas spewing out of the filler hole and presenting an environmental/safety/fire hazzard.2) with a gas tank that's listed at 14.5 gallons that advertises a range of 600+ miles on a tank of gas, you effectively have a useable fuel quantity and range well below what toyota advertises meaning they are engaging in false advertising.my dealer is aware of this issue since other owners are experiencing the same or similar issues, but so far, toyota is unable to address this fuel filling issue.

Only able to put 9 or 10 gallons into the gas tank when the fuel gauge was indicating empty. The tank is supposed to have a 14.5-gallon capacity. Factory refuses to offer any consideration for this annoying issue.

Car will not fill up to maximum fuel tank compactly (usually 2 to 3 gallons below full).

Didnt fill up gas tank and brake pressure is low. Its take too much space to stop.

No matter how many times i fill up the tank with gas, i can never reach anything over 9 gallons, and this car reportedly has a 14 5 gallon tank. The dealership already replaced my original gas tank, before that my car would never get to the f on the fuel gauge. Now it tells me i have low fuel and need to fill up, but only lets me put on 9.5 gallons max, even when it tells me i have zero miles left before empty.since the fuel economy and size of this hybrid gas tank are what lead me to the car in the first place, i'm incredibly disappointed and have gotten nowhere with toyota customer service. I bought the car in april and still, more than 6 months later, they don't have a fix. This is super upsetting and since this is my first experience with toyota, i don't plan on ever buying another. Another month and i'm going to file under the lemon law because this car definitely is not what it is supposed to be and no one at the company seems to care. I've taken it in to multiple dealerships, multiple times and they tell me there is no fix yet. They don't think the issue is the fuel tank, but the system that tells you how much fuel you have left in the car, the same system that tells you your average mpg. It's telling you that your tank is empty too soon, so when you fill up, you don't really need to. While logging my trip mileage, i'm only ever able to get at most 350 miles per tank, instead of the promised over 500 miles per tank with an low-balled average mpg of 37.

Fuel tank won't fill all the way. When gas pump cuts off, tank is only partially filled.range available is far short of advertised range. Can hold pump lever on, but this is a safety issue no matter what state you're in. Toyota dealership gives runaround without really seeming interested in fixing the problem. This is the same problem many other "fuel" entries are citing. It's been like this since purchase in april. I used april as date happened. (below). It has been 7 months and toyota is still ignoring the problem. Have complained to dealer at least twice.

There is no indicator or low fuel warning when the fuel tank is empty.plus when filling from empty to full and the gasoline station fuel pump kicks off, only 8 to 9 gallons of gasoline (the tank capacity is 14.5 gallons) is put into the vehicle's fuel tank and the fuel tank indicator only reads 7/8 of a tank.

When attempts are made to put fuel in the vehicle the pump stops at 3/4 fill. This does not mean there is 3/4 the quantity the gas tank holds. It is easy to run out of fuel since the gas gauge reading is inaccurate. It takes multiple starting the pump to put more gas in but it is unclear how much it really takes to be full. This is dangerous since running out of fuel while driving can lead to an accident. This happens when the car is stationary in front of the gas pump.

The fuel tank tank does not filling up completely and gives misleading information that it is fully filled up when in fact it is about 3-4 gallons short.the gas station pump automatically stop even the gas tank was not fully filled up

Case number started at toyota customer service: 210701002045 requested an unacceptable time to answer of 8 weeks.there was a recall for this vehicle. I wasnt notified and the recall also doesnt show in any website (not toyota not in the goverment one).i went on a trip thousands mile aways from home, i was up in the montains, the car got broken in a very bad place where i had to spend almost $2,000 dollars due to towing, meal and hotel expenses (as the dealer was closed on a weekend).i am trying to solve this with toyota but they say i have to wait 8 weeks to start looking at my case. It is unacceptable . I need a reimbursement asap.

Toyota has not provided the parts to remedy a known recall.manufacturer recall number20ta02nhtsa recall number20v682the dealership has had my leased vehicle for over 5 months and has yet to provide a date that they will have it repaired and drivable. While they have provided me a loaner from a second rate rental company, i am extremely frustrated that i am not able to drive the car i am required to make payments on. Due to my age, the rental company charges more for a comparable vehicle, so i am forced to drive a greatly inferior car to that which i am paying for. Additionally, at the end of my lease, the vehicle will have significantly fewer miles that my lease agreement allows (since it has been parked on their lot for so long, which will significantly increase the value of the vehicle for their resale. I have asked them to buy back my vehicle, and they have been unwilling to work with me, as they are not required to do per my contract. Ultimately, i am paying for something that i am not receiving and am spending even more money due to the fuel inefficiency of the loaner. I feel like i paid for a steak dinner and got a mcdonalds happy meal without the toy. I feel that i should be compensated with at least half of my monthly payment for the amount of time they have the car i am paying for sitting on their lot being unused. That would currently be $687.

The fuel tank will not fill up completely. When the fuel gauge is reading empty the fuel tank will only accept 8-9 gallons of fuel. The fuel tank is 14.5 gallons. To try and fill the tank i have to repeatedly try to top it off. This happens every time i try to refuel.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav-4. The contact stated that she had become unable to fill her gas tank to capacity. Due to failure, the contact was unable to determine the actual fuel level inside the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to north hills toyota 7401 mcknight rd, pittsburgh, pa 15237 where she was informed that she would have to allow a certain warning light to illuminate before placing fuel into the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer to have them perform the same procedure and the failure occurred again. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer and a case was filed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. *ln

Ever since i first drove my rav4 off the lot, i noticed it had a range of 580 miles to empty.i've never seen that ever since the first time i sat in the car.when i went to the fuel pump, i was only able to get in no more than 10 gallons and my meter would always show 2 ticks below full, which is about 3/4 of the meter gauge.this happened multiple times, so i tried pumping in more gas after it auto shutoff and each time it would pump a bit and then stop.if i trickled gas into the car, it would fill up eventually and the needle would finally show the needle past full and dte of 530 miles to empty.eventually i kept having the same problem so i brought it to the dealer to get it serviced.fuel even spilled out of my tank once and got onto my clothes when filling up my tank.they couldn't fix it so they had me come back later and replaced my entire fuel tank at my 5k mile service.afterwards,my tank seemed to fill closer to full, but i noticed it's actually still a bit below full.also even when driven to 0 miles left and the light being on, i couldn't get more than 10.5 gallons into the tank, and it would also show the needle a bit below full.this led me to try and drive my car and force it to empty even though it's not recommended.i put a 2.5 gallon spare fuel container in my backseat and drove it until i reached 120 miles past the empty mark, and my car told me to pull over when it's safe and to get fuel.i put in 0.2 gallons and was then able to drive to the chevron nearby and pump in about 14.055 gallons into the car.even then, my needle was just at the full mark and not past it.i noticed that in usually able to put in another 1.5-2 gallons into the car after it auto shuts off at the pump.i don't know what else to do since they already replaced my fuel tank already and i had to drive a toyota sienna around for a few days

When i fill up my gas tank it's never full according to the fuel gauge. Cluster shows 350 miles til empty

My 2019 rav4 xse hybrid model was recently purchased and i began to notice some discrepancies in what the vehicle had advertised for dte versus size of the tank. The vehicle's manual says this car has a 14.5 gallon tank, but the last 3 times i had gone to refill, the pump usually shuts off around 9-11 gallons and the meter jumps back to the full mark. The manual also says there's a 2.2 gallon reserve for safety, but that math does not add up to how much i fill up when the gas light turns on. 30mi left on dte, i usually run it until i have about 10mi left and even then upon refuel i barely break the 10 gallon mark, so where's the other 2.3 gallons (minus the 2.2 reserve)?i currently get on total average 38.8 mpg. After a full refill, the needle is at the full mark, my dte at the time usually reports 475 mpg, but each time my refill light comes on, my odo meter (i reset each time at refuel) only has me at about 380-400 miles driven. Now, i get that dte dynamically changes, but with over 100 estimate miles difference? that's completely insane and false advertising.i've also noticed that everytime i restart my car, the dte always somehow loses a few miles from the last reported number. So say i have 400 miles and drove 20 in trip a (dte ~380mi), i would turn off the car, turn it back on, and the dte would report 373 or something in that ballpark. Each and every time the dte always seems to reduce upon engine start, which gets me closer to my total mileage by refuel around 380...a far cry from the initial ~475mi.there's been numerous reports from others regarding the same issue and it's completely disheartening to have spent so much money on a hybrid vehicle no less that i can hardly get 400 miles on a full tank with a constantly fluctuating dte measurement.

Gas tank is supposed to be 14.5 gallons but unable to fill more than 10 gallons at a time (from almost empty).after filling until the gas pump stops (on its own), gauge reads approx 1 line below f.when starting with a full tank of gas, i can only get 370 miles before the gas warning light comes on and gauge appears close to empty.

Our rav4 hybrid will rarely fill more than 9-10 gallons in the tank. When the vehicle starts after a new tank has been filled the needle will not be all the way at full. One of the reasons i was sold on the vehicle was it's range, but this tank issue makes it impossible.

My 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid gas tank will not accept over 9.5 gallons at any time. Even when i have only 50 miles until gas tank empty showing on dashboard.it's a 14.5 gallon tank so this is a problem.

When filling up the gas tank, it maxes out at 9-10gal when the tank is supposedly a 14+ gallon tank. I will wait until 20 miles to empty and then fill up and it still only fills up partially.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact noticed that the vehicle would only fill up to three fourths of a tank with fuel as opposed to the full twelve gallons that should be required. The contact took the vehicle to magic toyota (21300 hwy 99, edmonds, wa 98026, 206-395-9200) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was not reaching its full fuel capacity. The dealer was aware of the failure, but did not have a remedy. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 1910072815. The contact informed the manufacturer that he would look into having the vehicle purchased back due to the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 350.

The fuel tank is either unable to fill to the rated capacity or is out of calibration. This causes the station pump to stop providing fuel before the tank is full. In order to obtain anywhere near a full tank of gas you must ignore the pumps automatic shutoff and guess as to when to stop. This is clearly a safety issue as not knowing when to stop can cause fuel to spill from the vehicle. This has been happening since the first fill up of the vehicle in april of 2019 and continues to this day (september 2019). Toyota has replaced the fuel sending unit but the issue still persists. They have not issued any service bulletins or warnings regarding this issue but claim it is widespread for the 2019 rav4 hybrid. They also claim no more repair attempts will be made as they do not know what the issue is or how to fix it.

My brand new 2019 rav4 hybrid xle has a fuel tank that is 14.5 gallons, but will not fill above 9 to 11 gallons at any time. In short, my fuel tank does not fill all the way and i am therefore short on overall car range, from 580miles to about 360-390 miles per tank. I have made an online complaint to ardmore toyota of pa with no response. I have roughly 6,000 miles on my car, but have noticed this is as low as 400 miles in the odometer.

My 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid xle (purchased in ca) will not allow a full fuel tank fillup. Once the 'empty' warning comes on, the 14.5 gallon tank will only accept about 9 to 10 gallons before shutting off. Even if you slowly 'trickle' the gas in, it shuts off before 11 gallons are in. Car is not providing anywhere near the average estimated driving range of approximately 560 miles, as advertised by toyota. This reduces credibility of the toyota fuel status warning, making it more likely drivers may run out of fuel on busy freeway or remote highway. I have reportedit to the dealership, and to toyota national customer service and received a case #.

I am not able to fully fill up the fuel tank as expected by toyota specifications. It can put barely 9 gallons (toyota communicate tanks can have 15 gallons) when the tank is empty and after the pump stops. The fuel level does not always go to the top of the dashboard indicator but i cannot put more fuel since pumps stops. I tried multiple gas station and many ways to fill up the tank, the issue is always there. The car range does not go over 500 miles when it is sold to do more.

Purchased 2019 toyota rav4 this november and i have an issue with the gas tank.it only fill 80% of the tank not completely full.when trying to fill manually to the full gauge the gas overflows and spills which creates gas spill on the side of the car and floor. This is an issue that toyota needs to address asap.

When filling the gas tank, the pump will stop before the gas tank is full, usually 2-3 gallons short of being full. This happens every time i try to fill the tank since i bought the car in may, 2019. This results in more frequent stops at the gas station or making efforts to try to top off the gas tank by trying to slow down the gas being pumped in.with a very slow rate, the gas pump may not shut off then leading to fuel spillage.

Unable to completely fill the fuel tank.stops abut 4 gallons short. Happens on every fill. I have to trickle fill it to get close to a full tank. Happens at each fill up

Fuel guage does not work. It shows empty when there is gas in the tank

The gas tank does not fill all the way, so i have having to go back and pump more gas into the tank. This sometimes can lead to overflow and the gas leaking to the ground and can be hazards.

When the fuel gauge indicates that the tank is nearly empty, my vehicle will only accept about 10 gallons of fuel until pump shut-off. As a result my vehicle fails to meet toyota mileage range specifications of 580 miles and only makes about 400 miles. Moreover, if trying to fill up with 15 gallons of fuel and going beyond pump shut-off there is a risk of overfill and fire hazard. Koons dealership refuses to acknowledge the defect which should be covered by warranty.

Unable to fill gas tank so that the gauge reflects "full". Tank only shows about 7/8 of a tank.

The fuel tank does not fill up to capacity. I am only able to fill ~8 gallons in a tank which has a 14.5 gallon capacity.also, when the low fuel indicator comes on, "miles to empty" reads only about ~30 miles which is incorrect in my opinion. There must be a calibration issue.i took it to the service station and they said there is no fix from toyota. The recent recall affecting 700,000 cars with a fuel pump issue does not include my car (searched by vin) or any rav4 hybrids for that matter.how long is one supposed to wait before hearing back from the manufacturer?i have attached the service appointment confirmation.

Toyota has misled consumers with 41mpg and falsely stated the size of the fuel tank.it's supposed to be a 14.5 gallon tank, however it will only hold 10 gallons even when completely empty. If i try to put in more fuel in after 10 gallons it spits out fuel as if over full. I bought this hybrid rav4 in an effort to make less frequent full ups. This defect is causing me to fill up more often than non hybrid vehicles.

Fuel tank for this 2019 rav4 hybrid will not accept full tank of gas.one must top off and potentially spill fuel to get it to an acceptable range. Tank capacity is 14.5 gallons with range of approximately 550-580 mile.only can have gas fill to about 9 gallon with range of 360 miles. This is very unfortunate for a otherwise good car. It has been on going situation getting worse since last year.

Whenever i fill the car with gas, it doesn't get completely full. It leaves the tank about a quarter from full. Also, the car doesn't accelerate well. It hesitates.

Gas tank will not fill. Max is between half and three-quarter fill. Called toyota and opened an incident report. Toyota advised this is a known problem but no current fix. I drive extensively and purchased a hybrid for this reason. I cannot use the car as described. I was told to bring it to a local delearship. The dealership acted unaware of the problem. Due to my extensive travel i am concerned about the state of no forseeable solution. If this is not corrected by toyota before lemon laws expire where i am to turn? i purchased this car at the sister dealership in maine but reside in new hampshire. Due to my extensive driving requirement for work i already have approx. 11,500 miles on it. I am very concerned this will hang without a solid answer and i will run out of time on miles to report under lemon law. I want the vehicle fixed but am concerned i will be left high and dry based on timing.

Unable to fill tank to proper amount stated in the manual. Pump clicks off prior to the tank filling but it says it is full. Mileage to empty is less than stated when purchased. Ran out of fuel while driving! this is a known issue and toyota is giving run around trying to get it fixed. Dealership claims they can't duplicate it.

The fuel level sensor is likely malfunctioning. If it is not the sensor, the factory installed a smaller than advertised fuel tank. This vehicle is supposed to have a 14.5 gallon (us) fuel tank. Unfortunately, the fuel gauge will read empty after 9.5-10.5 gallons of fuel is consumed. Thereby, leaving 4-5 gallons of fuel unaccounted for and reducing the safe drive-able range by 150 - 200 miles. Moreover, when topped up the fuel gauge will sometimes read slightly less than full or the first half of the fuel gauge will be depleted more quickly than the latter half. This leads me to believe that the issue lies with the fuel level sensor itself.

Fuel tank will not fill correctly. If i over fill it affects the vapor recovery system of the ra 4 hybrid. Have to be extremely careful not to run out or gasoline.

My fuel tank is 14.5 gallons and it will not allow more then 9.5 gallons into it even when vehicle has been run down to empty. This has been consistent since purchasing the vehicle in august. The tank size and mpg are incorrect in regards to what was advertised.

I can never get a full tank of gas. The most i've ever been able to put in still leaves me several notches below full. I get about 400 miles per tank whereas it was at least 430 after the dealer filled it.

On dec 14, 2020 i received an interim notice from toyota concerning my 2019 rav 4. I bought the car new (leftover) on may 29, 2020. When i received the interim recall i had had the car foralmost seven months with approximately 3500 miles on the odometer. Subject of recall: vehicle may stall while driving. "the vehicle may stop operating (stall) and the driver would be unable to restart it". "if a vehicle stall occurs while driving, this could increase the risk of a crash". "we will notify you again when the remedy is available".i have done extensive researchsince it involves my safety as the driver. As stated there is no remedy. The 'list' at toyota was started in jan of 2020 for affected models. My car was added to the list in oct which means i drove for two months before being notified of a very serious recall. The repair plan is divided into phases. My rav 4 was phase 10 (!!) but has been moved to phase 11.the target date for repair is latemarch but since there is no fix for the problem i doubt this date is feasible.after a lot of back and forth with toyota via the dealership and my insistence that the car is a danger to drive, especially on highways, i left my car at the dealership and received a loaner. I am a 70 year old widowand spending $36,000 for a car was a very big decision. I am still making monthly payments on a vehicle sitting at the dealership indefinitely.i have spoken with toyota representatives about repurchasing the car for the purchase price but apparently they rarely do this. The fact there is no replacement part leads me to conclude toyota is reckless and uncaring about the lives of its buyers. I have dealt with many recalls in my lifetime but nothing as frightening as this. I feel strongly toyota has a responsibility to the consumer to offer a monetary(repurchase price) solution to the interim recall . (i don't know how to upload)

Unable to fill 14.5 gallons as advertised.max fill is 11 gallons. Brought it to the dealer and they continue saying the car is fine and that there's a "reserve fuel" we can't see. They are unwilling to fix this issue

When pumping gas the auto-off feature is clicking early, causing me to only fill between 9-10 gallons of the 14.5-gallon tank. I've seen a lot of reports of this issue and would like to make my own claim here as well. I own a 2019 rav4 xle hybrid.

I bought my new 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid xse and took possession on january 3 2020. Since then, i have refuled multiple times and noticed it would not take more than 9-10 gallons of gas from empty. I found myself refueling more times than my previous vehicles. When researching prior to purchase, the vehicle says it has a fuel capacity of 14.5 gallons and 580 miles per tank. I have never been able to get more than 9-10 gallons and it has always shown gas range in the 400 miles per tank. It has never given me anywhere close to 580 miles per tank. I took it today to the dealership after calling toyota on january 30th and the dealership said that all cars have a 4 gallon reserve tank. This was their response to the problem although i am sure nobody would like to find out how many gallons a car has in reserve after the refuel light is on for obvious safety reasons. When i refuled all my previous cars, the capacity was at least what it said on the manual or more. It has never been a difference of over 38% from what the manual says to what this vehicle can actually take when refueling from empty with the refueling warning on and the refueling light on. It is dangerous to try and follow toyota's official fuel capacity and range for this vehicle. If you follow the official range stated by toyota in the manual and vehicle information, drivers can run out of gas thinking the car has actually 14.5 gallons instead of 9-10 and a range of 580 miles instead of the actual 400 mile range. *ln

Our new in august of 19 hybrid rav4 has the fuel problem that it appears thousands of others do.it has a 14.5 gallon tank, but the system won't allow you to fill the tank.at every gas station, the pump is initially shut off with many gallons left to go to fill the tank.this leads to a situation where you have trickle fill to get it close to full.trickle a little in, the vapor system shuts it off---and do that again and again and again until you feel you are close to full.it's easy to overfill and easy to spill gas onto the ground while doing so.we started an open case on this with toyota within a few months of new last fall, and to date they still have no fix for the issue.it appears similar to a bladder problem they had with prius gas tanks some years ago, but they refuse to discuss what they are doing to fix it.

When fueling the vehicle, the auto shutoff at the gas pump shuts off before the fuel tank is completely filled.occurs at multiple gas stations regardless of the amount of fuel remaining in the tank.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. When the fuel tank was filled up, it registered 3/4 full instead of completely full. The vehicle was taken to big two toyota of chandler (480-302-4651, located at 1250 s gilbert rd, chandler, az 85286), but the failure could not be duplicated. The technician stated that it could be a design flaw with the fuel tank. The failure was not remedied. The manufacturer stated that the failure was a known issue and a claim manager would call the contact. The contact was not called back. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

I bought my brand new car in aug 2019. A 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid xse. My fuel gauge does not go all the way to full when i fill up on gas. I noticed this after having the car for 1 month. I made an appointment for service and took the car in. The service employee said that toyota is aware of the problem and there is no fix. He said there was no reason to leave my car with them. I called toyota corp the next day and they said there is no recall for this issue, and that they have never been notified by nhtsa for this issue. Because the gauge never fills to the same spot every time, there is no way to know what my true mpg is. So, this issue could involve falsifying the mpg of the hybrid. But because no one is interested in reviewing further, there is no way of telling how bad the problem is. I have another appointment to bring my car back into the service department to look at the car. This is a very wide spread issue when looking online to the countless other car owners experiencing the same issue. Attaching an email i just received from the service employee that i spoke to, showing that the dealership is well aware of this issue and there not being a fix. Yet, they have not stopped selling this car, and are likely not notifying the customers of the potential issue. I will be seeking car replacement from toyota. This is a brand new car. I should not have to wait for a recall to come or not come. I am willing to provide any information needed for you to proceed with the recall for all customers that have gotten nowhere with toyota.

There is a problem with the gas tank on my rav4.it is a 14 gallon gas tank and i'm only able to ever fit 9-9.5 gallons of gas in it.i have spilled gas out of the vehicle trying to fully fill the vehicle and it still will not show as full on the gas gauge.i'm supposed to have over 500+ miles in range and now when i fill it the range only updates to 380 miles or so.between spilling gas at the pump and not knowing the actual range before i run out of gas, this is a problem.

Unable to fill gas tank fully in addition to displayed range being inaccurate. Tank only fills about 3/4 with average distance to empty reading about 350 miles, which is actually more than the distance we are able to travel before needing to refuel.

I cannot completely fill up the gas tank. When the gauge shows empty, i can only get 9-10 gallons in. The specs say it has a 14.5 gallon tank, but it is impossible to get that much fuel into the tank. The cruising range is less than 400 miles, far less than what is advertised. I've been calling the dealership and toyota corporate since october 2019 and am still being told that "toyota is investigating it"

I have a 2019 toyota hybrid. The tank can not be completely filled. It can leave around four gallons unfilled. The only way i can fill it is to have the nozzle slightly out side of the filler neck and pump a a slow rate.while this works, it takes time and it is not very environmently friendly.

Gas tank will not fill easy, or to the top.gas guage does not work properly.

I received a recall notice months ago and the recall has yet to be satisfied all the while my toddler grandchild is in this vehicle regularly. My biggest issue is the safety of a vehicle that may still at hwy speeds and result in a crash

Fuel tank can not be filled to capacity - will only accept up to 10 gallons when capacity is over 14 gallons.

My 2019 rav4 hybrid was filled initially by the toyota dealership as part of the purchase, and was gas gauge registered 'full'. Everytime i have filled it after the first fill has gotten filled to about 8/10 of a tank on the gas gauge before the gas noozle clicks off. I usually fill up when my gas tank is just right above the empty gauge line. The car is advertised to fill up to 14.5 gallons

Recall fix not available until late january possibly feb.until then driving with a possible fuel tank failure.

Fuel tank does not fill up all the way. Missing about 3 gallons.

I am not able to fill up gas tank to full capacity in my 2019 rav4 hybrid.the gas gauge shows fuel at 75% capacity after fill up.this drastically reduces driving range of vehicle.

Cannot properly fill fuel tank.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was inoperable. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the fuel gauge failed to register the correct amount of fuel. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

Difficulty getting the fuel tank filled.the gas clicks off at about 3/4 tank. To fill requires multiple times of topping off with multiple times it clicks off.often 2 to 3 gallons can be added after the first click off.this occurs at multiple different stations regardless of fill speed.also fuel miles to empty highly inaccurate.dealer claims no fix available at this time!!!

The fuel tank does not fill completely so you do not get the full mileage range of 41 mpg as advertised.

Fuel tank is defective. Does't accept a full tank of gas. 3/4 at most before pump shuts off.not getting miles per tank/efficiency that was advertised.filed a case with toyota and dealer but no fix available.problem started as soon as i drove it off the lot in may 2019.

Unable to fill tank to capacity. Tank holds 14.5 gallons but i can only get at most 10 gallons in when range of less than 40 miles and gauge reads less than a quarter of a tank. At 40 miles to the gallon, there should be room for 13.5 gallons. Range only increases to not more than 475 miles when "full" when i should get 550 as advertised. I bought the car in august and have had the same experience at the gas station with 4 fill ups. Looks like many 2019 hybrid rav4 owners are having the same problem. I complained to the dealer who claimed to never have heard of this.

I purchased a 2019 rav 4 hybrid a few months ago. Each time i have filled the fuel tank, i have filled it until the fuel nozzle clicks off, but the tank never registers more than 3/4+ full. I have tried filling the tank at several different gasoline stations. I took the car back to the dealer's service dept. A few weeks ago, and they told me they could find nothing wrong, and they were able to fill the tank to full. However, i suspect that may have been accomplished by not inserting the nozzle completely into the fuel tank, because i spoke with the service department again today about the continuing problem, and that's what they told me to do. They also offered to accompany me to a gas station, implying that after decades of driving, i don't know how to fill a gas tank. Fortunately i logged onto the nhtsa website, and i see that many others have encountered the same problem. Something is wrong with the 2019 rav 4 hybrid fueling system, and the fix can't be to not fully insert the nozzle into the tank, or continue filling the tank after the nozzle clicks off. Doing so circumvents built in safety and environmental features, and is dangerous. It also negatively impacts the driving range that we have on a tank of gas.

Cannot completely fill the fuel tank without manually forcing the fuel after the pump shuts off.it stops filling at about 3/4 full or about 9 gallons.the fuel tank holds 14.5 gallons.it is risky and not safe to manually force fuel into the tank to get it full.you have no idea when it is full until the fuel overflows.fuel overflow risks fire and is just one of the safety issues.i began noticing this issue after a couple fill ups this past july.it happens with each attempt to refuel.

My car has a 14.5 gallon tank.i have only been able to put 8-9 gallons max into my car.the pump shuts off/reads as full.i should be able to get 500+ miles in my hybrid with a 14.5 gallon tank.i average 380 mp fill up.i paid big money for this car and would like toyota to fix the fuel tank problem.

The vehicle is only able to fill up to about 3/4 of a tank, regardless of which gas station i go to. This problem has been happening since day 1 and varies by 1 or 2 gallons. But i have never been able to get a full tank. I can usually only get 9-11 gallons of gas when the car is empty. I have also noticed a significant drop off in fuel economy recently 39mpg vs 32mpg.

2019 rav4 hybrid will not fill completely when the low fuel warning system activates.the 14. 5 gallon tank will only take 9.5 to 9.7 gallons leaving about 5 gallons in the tank. I am not certain if i can drive further using the 5 gallons or would be left sitting and "run out of fuel."other 2019 rav4 hybrid owners are reporting a similar problem. So far toyota has made no attempt to correct the problem. This has happened since the first attempt to fill the tank.the rav4 currently has about 8500 miles.there needs to be a recall.

This vehicle cannot be filled with the amount of gas advertised. It has a 14.5 gallon fuel tank and i have never been able to put more than 10 gallons in it even when the low fuel indicator is on. This leads to dangerous and environmentally unsafe triclkle-filling. This has been a problem since the vehicle was puchased ~6 months ago.

New 2019 rav4 hybrid xle with less than 2,500 miles will not fill up all the way when filling with gas.autostops at 3/4 tank and cannot safely fill up the rest of the way.

The fuel tank capacity is about 9 gallons way too lower than the specification. This is causing too many trips to the gas station than expected. The purpose of buying a hybrid is defeated.

I cannot fill the fuel tank to it's capacity. Fuel pump will shut off prematurely at about 3/4 full. That said, range is nowhere near as advertised.

Fuel tank does not fill up to advertised capacity. Consistently less than full when gas pump clicks off. Multiple pumps and gas stations have been used.

The fuel tank was at maximum capacity when picked up from the dealer with an estimated range of ~550 miles.since driving away from the dealer, i have never been able to add more than 9-10 gallons into the "14.5" gallon tank, even well after the "low fuel" light has come on.even with extra topping off and the needle reads as close to full as i can get it, now the estimated range tends to be ~350-370 miles. I have filled up the tank about 10 times now and this outcome is consistent.

We bought the vehicle used. When we try to fill the gas tank up it will only fill up about 3/4 of the way. This is a recurring issue with the gas tank.we took it to toyota who only reset the computer.however, we are still having the same issue. Even though toyota is aware this is a common issue, they said they do not presently have a fix and don't know when they'll have one. The fuel reading is not accurate and we are also not getting the full functionality of the vehicle we purchased.we were also not made aware ahead of time that this was an issue on the vehicle.

When filling the fuel tank when full fuel spills out until the pump handle finally shuts off. Estimated spillage isabout 1/2 to 1 cup of fuel. This has happenedmore than 6 times

When the 14.5 gal tank is empty fuel tank light on and no mileage remaining showing e you can only fill 8 - 8.5 gal before pump shuts off. Tank can not be filled past that amount.this causes a loss of around 200 - 250 miles from the advertised mileage per tank specified by the manufacturer due to the loss of the 6 - 6.5 gal that the tank can not be filled.dealership will not attempt to fix, toyota reports a fix or timeline is unknown and they continue to investigate the issue.

Unable to refill a full tank. Refilling when fuel empty light on should able to fill about 12 us gallons according to user manual but the car consistently able to fill only 10 us gallons when fuel empty light is on.

I can only get about 10 gallons in this 14.5 gallon tank. The gas pumps clicks off at 3/4 full. I bought this car for the advertised range of about 500-550 and it is no where near that. Toyota is well aware of the problem as there are hundreds of complaints online about this same problem. I do not understand how some cars have the problem and apparently some do not.

Multiple fuel spills happened while the 2019 rav4 hybrid was stationary, being refueled.the manual provided states that the low fuel light illuminates when there is 2.2 gallons or less fuel in the tank, and it states the fuel capacity is 14.5 gallons.when fueling after the low fuel light illuminates, and the fuel gauge indicates "e"; the tank overfills with approximately 9.3 gallons, or 3 gallons short of what was expected.this results in hazardous fuel spills when the attendant attempts to fill the tank.also, the vehicles range is less than expected which can result in diversions and/or a stranded driver.

Fuel tank can't be filled to the full capacity. Even with continued attempts to further fill the tank, it is short by a couple gallons. Just a few weeks after purchasing the vehicle, the issued was raised (now over 6 months ago) to both the local nj dealer as well as toyota motor sales headquarters. Still no resolution.

Less than one month ago, i purchased a new 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid limited that was built in japan and had only 7 miles on the odometer.the car was advertised to give combined 40 mpg and have a 14.5 gallon fuel tank.i now have approximately 2 thousand miles on the car and i have experienced the same issue every time that i get gas in multiple states and gas stations. The tank will not fill up and the gas pump shuts off before the tank is filled.every time that i fill up, the fuel gauge always stays about 2-3 lines below the full mark.two days ago i drove the car until it stopped displaying a miles-to-empty reading and simply read, 'fuel needed.'minutes before giving this reading, it said that i had approximately 31 miles left.i checked the toyota remote connect app on my phone the next morning and it read that i had 24 miles until empty.i drove to the gas station and was only able to put in 8.9 gallons of gas before the fuel pump shut off.i attempted to continue fueling two more times but each time i tried to top off, i only got a little more gas before it kept shutting off.after topping off twice, i achieve a grand total of 9.4 gallons of gas purchased.if the tank is supposed to hold 14.5 gallons and i was only able to add 9 to a car that was supposedly on empty, that is 5 gallons of gas that is missing.i'm aware that many toyota have approximately 2 gallons left in reserve when the gas light goes on, however, 9+2=12 and still leaves the car short of about 2 gallons of gas.this is dangerous and is a safety hazard as it will result in many people trying to top off their gas by forcing fuel into the tanks and being unable to determine when the stop.this can cause gas leaks and an increase in emissions or risk of fire.it appears that many of the 2019 toyota hybrids that were built in japan are experiencing this issue.

Fuel tank is unable to fill to capacity-!4 1/2 gallon tank -can only fill. 8 or 9 gallons.*dt

Accidentally turned on lka.at freeway speeds up to 70mph steering pulled to right.had to keep tension on steering wheel to keep vehicle centered in lane.then steering would quit pulling and vehicle would go to left.had to keep fighting steering to keep vehicle centered in lane. Lka warning kept beeping.researched problem on line.looked in owners manual and made sure lka was turned off.this was a big annoyance for me but i was able to keep control of vehicle.this could be a major problem for someone else, though.

Twice this vehicle has stumbled when trying to make a left turn across traffic, applying gas from a near dead stop.both times would have been an accident if other driver was not driving defensively. This rav 4 is unsafe! less than 5,000 miles since we bought it new.

I leased a new 2019 toyota rav4 xle in april and since that day have had issues. If you are stopping and then go to push the gas again, you will lurch forward.also if you ease off the break, it will rock back and forth. I describe it like trying to drive a stick shift when you don't know how to use the clutch. Also if you stop and go to turn into traffic or left across an intersection, it will delay and not go fast enough and then you push harder and it rockets forward. I have experienced 3 near accident situations due to this delay.i called my dealership about the issue and they said they didn't know anything about it.i spoke to the customer relations manager and he said the car needs to learn my driving habits, it could take up to 10k miles, and that it's normal.i told him i wasn't happy and wanted out of the vehicle as it's a safety issue, uncomfortable, and kind of scary.he told me i signed a contract and there wasn't anything they could do. I called and informed toyota corporate. I brought the car in for a full diagnosis in june.they said everything was normal. I brought it in again in october. They did the software update.the car drove better for about 3-4 weeks and started up again. I called and scheduled to bring it in november. They said the software update hadn't taken fully and needed to be re-run. I left and still had the issue. I called toyota corporate again and started the process for lemon law and the had my car for 3 days. They could not get the car to re-create the issues and so therefore there is nothing they can do and they will not be sending out the corporate master technician. They said the 1-2 second delays are normal for the computer while it tries to determine if it should shift up or down.

A very significant "lurching" almost"stalling" is very apparent as the complaints indicate. In addition, the transmission starts in 4th gear...not 1st gear from a dead stop. I would consider this a safety issue. Has been an issue from day 1 of car purchase. Vehicle now has 22,000 miles on it

After car has warmed up, accelerating around 20-30mph it makes a grinding noise. Typically happens when the awd switches to 2wd.

Grinding from transfer case at 2000 miles at 20 - 25 mph

Vehicle jerks after accelerating from a "rolling stop." it seems like there is an issue with the throttle - there seems to be a delay with going, so the car jerks to kick into the speed it should be. I've taking my car to the dealership at least 3 times to resolve this issue, but they always say there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

Grinding noise from transfer case when accelerating or decelerating around 20-40 mph. Vehicles has a driveline line disconnect assembly that seems to grind due to improper clearances. We are not sure how long this defective driveline disconnect will hold up.

Car lost power twice, going up a steep grade. 'hybrid system malfunction' warning came on the screen, gas pedal did not work at all. I was unable to get to a safe place with children in the car, both times on the interstate. Driving up a steep mountain, about 50f weather.

During a slow roll, the vehicle jerks pretty bad. Common problem with the rav4s that toyota hasn't addressed.

Condition1 : heavy thumping in rear driveline when coming to a near stop, in traffic or parking causing vehicle lurch forward, as if hit from behind from behind? such can be heard and felt by occupants in vehicle. Condition 2: when coming to a near stop whenaccelerating back again vehicle delays down shift causing momentary hesitation before responding do to lapse in transmission gearing to find propergear responcewhich leaves a second or too hesitation upon re-acceleration in traffic condition. Condition 1: above is due to un-coupling and coupling or read driveline wheels to mainly mileage rating. Which creates a feeling of heavy wear and tear to placed upon driveling components. Vehicles in question gas powered models only forfurther information look upontoyotadrivers forum and edmonton's customer complaints.condition on going, contacted both dealer and toyota direct, dealer had no idea what i was talking about nor did toyota, this condition is not isolated to my car, there are many of same on sites mentioned with same issues

19 rav4 xle awd transmission issue and power train.my vehicle has driven under 5k miles and i noticed two major problems. First, rpm moves up and down when i slow down the vehicle.i don't see rpm shifts when i reduce the speed in range of 10mph but i see rpm moves up and down when the reduction becomes greater like 15 and 20 mph.furthermore, there is a hesitation and lurches. Once the vehicle's speed is reduced upto either 4 mph or 5 mph and try to speed up, i can tell it hesitates and lurches.as a result, i witnessed rpm jumps high all of sudden.the vehicle had software update on 9/9/2019 and i took video record and posted on youtube.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fruvfzauptq&t=11s

There is a large chunk and grind noise coming from the front end when going into 4th gear. Both up shifting and down shifting. Took the issue to toyota, they said they were waiting for more people to report he issue before fixing the issue.

Moaning, buzzing noise of front differential when acceleration to 35mph, also upon deceleration, especiallywhen car is hot.

Car doest not move right away at a stop even when stepping on the accelerator at 3-4 rpm.very dangerous when your in the intersection when turning left or when crossing the street.seems like the transmission slips

Abnormal buzz or groan noise coming from the front transfer case when slowing or accelerating around 15-20 mph. Toyota tsb identifies problem as electro-magnetic clutch shifting from 2wd to 4wd on certain models. Toyota says not a recall but will repair which requires opening the transfer case. Brand new car and toyota should replace entire transfer case instead of repairing it. Dealer ordered parts 3 weeks ago and still not delivered. Dealer has not offered loaner car in interim.

The contact rented a 2019 toyota rav4. When the contact attempted to shift the vehicle in reverse, the gear shifter came out of the transmission box. The contact quickly placed the gear shifter back in the transmission box and notified the rental facility. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The contact was still waiting to switch out the vehicle with the rental company. The contact was unsure if the rental company notified the dealer and manufacturer. The failure mileage was 5,218. The vin was unknown.

After driving for about 15-20 minutes car makes grinding noise when accelerating past 2-30 mph and another grinding noise while decelerating below 20-30mph.was told that rear driveline disconnect feature is causing the issue.started happening around 3000miles odo and been getting louder

While driving my 2019 rav4 adventure in slow speeds, specially when accelerating and braking, i hear a noise coming from the transmisin. It has an 8 speed automatic transmission and when shifting in the lower gears it makes a sound not usual in any vehicle i have previously driven. Only had it for three months and took it to service to be notified it is a characteristic of the engine/transmission. First time i get that an unusual sound, a sound i can feel in my feet while driving, is a characteristic of the car. It wasn't mentioned in the features and have been told that people have complained about it in the dealership. Toyota should address this problem, it is very annoying for a brand new car.

As i drive the vehicle and come to a stop and re-accelerate it jerks violently! it feels like it does this as it's accelerating in first gear only. This seems to be a potential transmission issue, but i'm not completely sure.

Transmission hard shifting coming to a full stop and the lurking jerk when not fully stopping and then pressing gas

Abnormal bussing noises under the car when driving.

I received 2 speeding camera tickets due to sudden acceleration noticed time to time, front suspensions are not even and rough, transmission is not smooth when changing gears and/or stopping vehicle.

Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin t-sb-0107-19 titled "hesitation on acceleration from a slow or rolling stop". It calls for reprogramming of the electronic control module by a toyota dealer. It goes on to say that toyota is not notifying rav4 owners of this fix, you have to go to the dealer and tell them you are having a problem.

When test driving vehicle felt like transmission was not shifting properly but not being a mechanic thought it was just my imagination. They would not put a defective car on the lot for sale right?wrong!!!! when i drove it after got it home it was obvious there was a big problem.every time i stopped ata light then took foot off of brake to accelerate car would lurch, shake, shudder before i even got my foot on accelerator. Thought is was going to die. Would hesitate when trying to acceleratewhen put it in park to turn off enginesame lurch shake shudder and sounds like engine died. Car has 61 miles on it. Was defective when shipped from factory took it back to dealer, said there are tons of complaints about this same issue. Toyota aware but has no fix in place.dealer claims nothingthey can do but wait on toyota. So now i have a brand new car that i have to continue making payments on while toyota continues business as usual and my car sits in the garage, afraid to drive it.

When accelerating or decelerating from 20 mph to 30 mph there is a farting/grinding noise coming from the transmission. I can feel it through the brake and gas pedal also.

As thetransmission shifts down to first gear, without coming to a complete stop as one accelerates the vehicle makes an abrupt forward movement. Strong enough to move a passenger backwards. I have only notice this at low speeds in traffic. Does not happen after complete stop. I will rake car to dealer to check the transmissionthis is not normal on an automatic transmission.

Sound heard when going from all wheel drive to front wheel drive at low speeds. Also when stopping when when the rear wheel drive reengages.

Cruise control and other safety issues randomly go off line. When driving cruise control turn off, as do the electronics. Further, the automatic bright lights are random to the point i have to disable the system. I have pics and video, cannot change format, don't know how.

Battery goes dead and requires a jump start at least twice a week.energency brake does not always release first time.transmission clunks and grinds when shifting.has been to two different toyota dealers who tell me everything is fine and i don't drive it enough.bought it new in 2019 and it now has 2901 miles on it.

Clunking/thud is heard from the rear/under carriage. To duplicate the issue, it must be driven 30-40 min so that differential oil is hot and drive up to 30 mph then slow down to below 10 mph to confirm the issue. The issue is limited to 2019 rav4 (with torque vectoring system - only adventure and limited trims) no known tsb to fix the issue. The sound is more like a heavy object (like a bowling ball) is dropped on a carpeted floor and like a muffled sound rather than a sharp mechanical gear rotating sound. The noise is more like a thud and very prominent enough to distract driving. It happens after awd is engaged by falling the vehicle's speed under 20 mph in eco or normal mode. It does not happen in sport mode where awd is engaged in full-time.

Make intermittent soft grinding noise (think raspberry) when moving. Makes noise in eco and standard mode but not in sport mode. The dealership told me they could replace the whole drive train and it might make the noise.

My 2019 my 2019 adventure is making a groaning sound when i accelerate conservatively between 20-30 mph. This happens probably 50% of the time.seems to be the awd system.there is a bulletin regarding it:https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10169438-9999.pdf.it's an ongoing problem.seems like this should be a recall.

The transmission is very jerky.it seems to start in 4th gear and if i have to speed up in an intersection, it downshifts violently and causes a lot of jerking while driving.not a great experience and worried about the life of the transmission.vehicle has 4200 miles on it.

Adventure trim of 2019 toyota rav4 makes an abnormal groaning/buzzing sound when accelerating. Sound occurs between 20-30 mph when awd system disconnects rear wheels. A video recording has captured this sounds on two separate occasions.

2019 rav 4 xle premium i purchased a year ago continues to lurch when suddenly accelerating from a rolling stop. An example is when pulling up to a red light and the light suddenly turns green, i'll take my foot of the brake and tap the gas and the car hesitates then accelerates. This motion jerks me and other passengers in our seats.

Trans mission jerks hard after i come to a complete stop and drive again.

Passenger seat heat warmer isn't working correctly on low or high the seat stays cold and i tired keeping it on from 15-45 minutes and it stays cold.

Purchased rav4 hybrid in may and noticed the car would have a squeal/squeak when starting. Eventually was told the rotors were warped and was 'fixed' however upon driving off i noticed the break assist was not the way it was.it was delayed in breaking especially if needing to break suddenly. Currently is being inspected.

Breaks make a chirping noise when you step on the breaks.most recently heard on 6.26.20.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. While driving and/or stopping the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, the contact heard an abnormal scratching noise coming from the front of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to orland toyota (8505 w 159th st, tinley park, il 60487, (708) 336-7288) and oak lawn toyota (4320 95th st, oak lawn, il 60453, (708) 423-5200) to be diagnosed, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 500.

Upon pressing brakes while going thru a pot hole the electronic stability control deactivates and flashes like if the vehicle was drifting or without road grip.

Faulty brake assist booster (plastic brush holder misshapen) causing deactivation of vehicle stability control system on the rav4 xse hybrid. My vehicle has not yet been delivered from the newark, new jersey port of entry. It has been there since july3, 2019 with no expected date of delivery.i discovered this problem when googling recalls on the 2019 rav4 hybrid, using the vin # supplied in this text.

When braking the vehicle takes long to stop and this is a brand new 2019 rav4 ? it only has 5k miles on it. I noticed a clinking sound when turning right and left or going over bumps. I researched this and there are several recalls and complaints of the same issue regarding the lower control arm replacement due to it detaching from the wheel hub and it is a safety issue! there is also a recall for a safety issue on the motor to be replaced due to cracks on the engine block due to manufacture oversight! my car was manufactured in the time frame of the recall month of manufacture??? there is also an issue on the reverse camera system going blank when reversing? i researched this and there is also a recall on this issue?

Electronic parking brake malfunction. The vehicle had not been driven in a few days, it was parked in our enclosed garage. Started vehicle shifted into drive, let of brake and vehicle would not move forward. I then applied light throttle and still the vehicle would not move. I could feel resistance from the rear wheels.i shifted back into park and manually cycled the parking brake switch. Noticed that the parking brake light indicator in the instrument cluster would not illuminate.no audible noise of parking brake actuatorfunctioning. Cycling the parking brake switch did nothing.i tried turning the engine off and back on, this did not resolve the situation. Shifted back into drive and gently applied light throttle, then shifted into revers and applied very light throttle. I repeated this a few times and with a sudden loud clunk the e- brake released and the vehicle moved forward.i then cycled the e-brake switch a few times and it appears to function properly again.through out this no messages or warning lights were displayed indicating any problem with the e-brake or any system.this vehicle has 2,400 miles on it. Ithas never been subjected to any environmental contaminates that could possibly cause this issue. It has never been off-road, no exposure to snow, mud, dirt or freezing temps.this is a safety hazard! i have no idea if or when the electronic emergency brake may fail to engage or disengage.i talked to the dealer and there suggestion was to wait until it happens again and have it towed in. This is an all wheel drive vehicle so attempting to winch it up on a tow truck would likely free the stuck brake, or damage the drive train.this is extremely frustrating.

The vehicle turns on the red break light mal function without pushing the break pedal in city streets and highway. Besides that the pedal makes a lot noice when is pushed and goes very low metal to metal.

Didnt fill up gas tank and brake pressure is low. Its take too much space to stop.

2019 toyota rav 4 hybrid. Consumer writes in regards to emergency brake switch. *ldthe consumer stated the emergency brake switch was poorly placed. The consumer stated it was placed too close to the gear shift and the inset storage area. The consumer accidentally activated the emergency brake whie driving 65 mph. Due to this, the consumer burned the rubber off the tires and had to purchase new ones.

Battery goes dead and requires a jump start at least twice a week.energency brake does not always release first time.transmission clunks and grinds when shifting.has been to two different toyota dealers who tell me everything is fine and i don't drive it enough.bought it new in 2019 and it now has 2901 miles on it.

Suspension knocking noises:occur at slow speeds over irregular pavement particularly during vehicle rolling, pitching and heaving.emanate from the vicinity under and in front of the driver seat and are readily discernable by both driver and passengers.brake clicking noises:occur whenever applying light brake pressure.customer has replicated brake clicking while test driving identical rav4 hybrids.

Toyota pre-collision system with pedestrian detection does not appear to work as advertised. The vehicle has been back to the dealership due to the pre-collision system not sending a warning as it should. Dealership stated that there would most like cause damage to my vehicle if they attempted to test the system; the the vehicle did not stop as it should, they would not be responsible for the damage they caused. I also contacted toyota directly how said they could not comment and i need to refer to the toyota documentation which i explained show the vehicle sending warnings and stopping well before my vehicle does. The dealership did confirm the sensitivity was turned all the way up, they could not explain why it was not working, but said "the car is smarter then people so don't worry about it"

Fueling: gas pump shut off when tank is about have full.to complete fueling i have to pull gas hose out of tank and place nozzel where i can see gas being deposed into tank to complete fill.i have had gas spray back on me.takes 3 times as long to fill.

Rav4 has only 500o miles on odometer.have been getting a squealing sound from the brakes when brake pedal is depressed.braking ability is not diminished, just a persistent speak.seems to be more pronounced at first morning braking.after about 5-10 minutes it will go away for the day.

Bought new.

Vehicle accelerated suddenly when i was trying to get into aparking spot on my left side. Saved from crashing into the adjacentcar when i quickly pushed the brakes, very scary. It was raining at the time, and the parking spot i was aiming for is at an incline.

Steering suddenly locked up. Car steered to the right went off the road. Turned over several times and landed upside down.causing serious injuries to myself and the driver.i was in hospital 3 weeks total with broken ribs , broken vertabrae and dislocated shoulder.cuts on feet from the glass. Driver had cuts on head and dislocated shoulder.prior to accident, i had reported (twice) to dealer that steering wheel felt loose.the second time, i had him write it down on report when i came in for oil change.so i have proof that i reported it. They checked steering and said they couldn't find anything wrong;but the problem was it didn't do it all the time.sometimes it would take quite a few seconds before it would react if i would turn it a little left or right. Eventually, it did lock up and caused the horrible accident.the accident occured on november 26, 2020.i typed that date, but somehow this report changed it to aug 6 and i can't seem to change it.

I experienced several near misses related to two adas features as i rented this new rav4 in atlanta. Firstly, the lane-centering feature actively tried to guide my vehicle out of its lane while driving on the highway. This typically occurred when driving across overpasses where the pavement type transitioned. The left and right lane markings were present on the pavement throughout these events. The steering wheel moved with force and speed--had my reaction time been half a second longer, i would have struck vehicles next to me. Secondly, the vehicle's full-range adaptive cruise control braked abruptly, especially at lower speeds, on nearly every occasion where highway/city traffic slowed or stopped. I was nearly rear-ended due to the jerky actions of the system. The vehicles in front braked smoothly during these events--only my vehicle slammed on its brakes when it could have lightly applied them to slow down safely. It appears that toyota might have my data from 3/13/2019, since a sticker on the overhead console states: "vehicle data transmission is on! your vehicle wirelessly transmits location, driving and vehicle health data to deliver your services and for internal research and data analysis..." i hope that nhtsa can work with toyota to examine these records and improve these systems.

Approximately 30 days after purchasing my 2019 toyota rva4, while driving to work during the week of august 1,2019 on a major highway my vehicle swerved to the right almost hitting an 18 wheeler without me steering in that direction. Ithappened about 15 minutes later swerving again towards the right almost hitting a car. During the week of august 5,2019 the car did the same thing again. While driving home, this time the steering wheel warning light started flashing. I checked the owners manual and it stated to take the vehicle to the nearest toyota dealership immediately which i did.on august 17th i brought my car in to be checked.initially a young service manager told me there was nothing wrong with my car. I was persistent in having my car checked. After the young service manager spoke to a senior service manager, he suggested to the young manager that if i am being persistent then she needs to do a code diagnostics on the car. I was told an issue was found and they had to keep my car.on august 21,2019 i received a call stating my car was ready. I asked what was the problem. I was told the steering angle sensor had to be recalibrated.the car was tested for 14 miles with no problems, but i should keep an eye out for any other steering issues.i must say i am not comfortable driving a car with steering issues. It is still swerving on occasions, but not as severe.

I am hearing clicking noise from steering wheel when i make turns at low speed, specially while i am applying brake (and turning steering wheel). The noise sounds like something is touching inside the steering! but it is not constant. Maybe electric motor or a component in steering wheel.

When turning right the car has a knocking noise.

The tires sleeps to the front when you try steering to the sides ether right or left and the tires make horrible noice and the slip to the frontand if you don't brake when the car slip to the front you can hit the vehicle infront of you, looks like they make the steering angle to wide or the tires turn too much that instead of making a turn they sleep to the front and thats too dangerous because it can cause an accident

I received a recall notice months ago and the recall has yet to be satisfied all the while my toddler grandchild is in this vehicle regularly. My biggest issue is the safety of a vehicle that may still at hwy speeds and result in a crash

Make a stretch noise when i maketurn sharp ,and steering become stiff

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that there was an obstruction reflecting off the dashboard onto the driver's side rearview mirror. Cherokee county toyota (301 liberty blvd, canton, ga 30114, (770) 704-9525) was contacted and suggested that the contact try to get used to the reflection issue. The dealer tried to get the contact to switch to a camry, but she refused. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number and a case manager. The manufacturer promised a call back and scheduled an appointment, but it was not kept. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 48.

I am unable to lock the driver side front door. Internal controls, remote controls, and the manual key fail. It will open and close (latch), but can be opened from the inside or outside, whether parked or running. I have not tried to open it from the outside when in motion. When attempting to lock, the mechanical indicator by the door handle moves from unlocked to locked to unlocked to locked rapidly and with a harsh rattle noise.

Roof rails leaking water into car. Headliners near the a pillar are wet and water leaking down the a pillar and onto carpet in interior. A pillar has airbags that may now be exposed to water. Anytime it rains in ga water gets in the car.

Roof rack is leaking on both sides of my rav4.i can't get any assistance with getting it fixed. It's a 2019 with 58,000 on it. I have seen several post with the same issue.

Significant roof leak driver side front. Took it to a dealer. Wants customers to pay for toyotaā€™s design flaw.

On march 14, 2020, and at 12:30 pm, i crashed into the front of a parked small subaru suv on my private community street, which was at low-speed (10 mph) but the front of my car was badly damaged and cost me about $17,000 to fix it! while nothing happened to the other vehicle except some minor scratches on its front bumper! also, my left leg was injured because of the harmful knee airbag, and god knows what would have happened to me if the accident was at a higher speed, or on the freeway? or what will happen to me if another accident happens in the future at a higher speed, or on the freeway?so, i sent a complaint letter to toyota and asked them to return the car and cancel my contract with toyota financial services. But they denied my complaint and said that they do not believe the concern is the result of a defect in materials or workmanship! while i had told them that my complaint and concern is about safety issues and that vehicle is not safe at all, because the body of the vehicle is very weak and cannot save my life if another accident is likely to occur in the future at a higher speed, or on the freeway. And after that accident, i cannot trust my car anymore, but they just ignored me!i still cannot believe that a minor accident can cause that much damage to my car, while the car i crashed into was not damaged at all!the pictures of the cars and my injured leg are available upon request.

Side mirrors vibrate making them very blurry during driving.there has been many complaints yet no fix.motor - vehicle jolts forward after making a stop and then accelerating. Toyota dealership has been notified, yet they refuse to fix either issue even with the amount of complaints for both issues.

The sunroof exploded outward/upward. I was doing 75-80mph north bound on i-15 in montana, south of mile marker 250. Suddenly there was a loud boom like a an explosion! (i was startled and almost lost control of the car.)when i reached cascade, the nearest town, i checked and saw that the sunroof was bulged outward, with a large hole. See pictures.condition: around 12:45pm. Outside - cloudy, temp around 30 degree farenheit with a dusting of snow. Inside cabin was set to 70 degrees. I do not know the elevation above sea level. I was not near any area that rocks could fall on the roof. The only other vehicle was about 1/4 to 1/2 mile behind me at the time of the incidence. The autobody shop guy checked for any signs of rocks or bullets or anything that could have caused it and he could not even guess at the cause, especially since the glass was bulging outward.

When driving my car everytime i make a turn there is a noise coming from the shock of the wheels front and rear i took it to the dealership 3 timesand they said they hear nothing then i took it to my mechanic and he said it's the ball bearing on top of the shock. Now the noise is getting louder and louder, i'm scared something will happen to me and my family when we are all in the car. So please can you guys help me out

Car/suspension squeaks over any bumps, down hills, etc. It happens when in motion, and has been happening since purchased off the lot. I know 2 other rav4 owners that have the exact same noise and issue occurring.

Had an alignment performed at tire discounters.afterwards they informed me that the vehicle front right camber was out of specs.they attempted to bring specs within oem but unable to.required to purchase camber kit from toyota to perform necessary adjustments.vehicle only has 14,000 miles.

Car lurched, shook and tilted while driving under normal conditions.safety recall issued may 20, 2020 (20tb08/20ta08) says front lower arm suspension defect found for same make and model in production period 9/25/19-10/25/19, which post dates my purchase date by several months but seems to involve the same problem.i believe the problem is broader than toyota has acknowledged and that toyota is being dangerously dilatory in providing notice of the safety issues that it admits make these cars unsafe to drive.

Car vibrate at certain speed.suspects faulty front lower suspension arm.vehicle show symptomsafter third service (toyota care -15000 miles)

Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes, while driving on the interstate the vehicle began vibrating heavily.what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? upon inspection it was noticed that the inner tread of the left rear tire was damaged, worn away and scalloped or cupped.the tire was replaced with a spare, and vehicle driven to the nearest toyota dealer for service.the damaged tire is available for inspection.has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, the servicing dealer informed us that the left rear camber was out of manufacturer specification being -1.8 deg. The minimum allowed is -1.7, and the minimum recommended is -1.3.we were informed that to be safe the vehicle required repairs; however, they were unable.we then took the vehicle to the selling dealer who also found the issue and were unable to repair.two additional service centers also confirmed the rear camber was out of specifications, and posed a safety risk.has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, the dealer stated that a manufacturer representative from toyota inspected the vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? safety was compromised as the damage to the tire was severe and hidden.this damage could have resulted in a loss of control of the vehicle. The vehicle remains in the unsafe condition.it is also important to note that the tires were being rotated every 5,000 miles by a manufacturer service center as recommended.

I received 2 speeding camera tickets due to sudden acceleration noticed time to time, front suspensions are not even and rough, transmission is not smooth when changing gears and/or stopping vehicle.

When turning right the car has a knocking noise.

The 2 inch multifunctiondisplay on the 2019 toyota ravv4 is creating a dangerous condition. The gee-whiz fuel economy data is predominantly displayed in the center of the screen while the important and often used cruise control speed setting is in a barely readable sized font.other more useful data is also displayed in very small font. Toyota should be required to reprogram and update the display.

When filling the fuel tank when full fuel spills out until the pump handle finally shuts off. Estimated spillage isabout 1/2 to 1 cup of fuel. This has happenedmore than 6 times

The gas tank will not fill to the full capacity and gauge is inaccurate. The fuel tank size is 14 gallons but i discovered after owning the car for a month that the tank will not fill completely in fact it only fills to 10 gallons meaning the stated vehicle range is false advertising. I have contacted toyota and opened a case but receive no update or feedback.

Roof rack seals failed, allowing water in above the a-pillar, which damages the headliner and could damage electrical and side airbags, compromising safety. In talking with other 2019 rav4 owners, many have experienced the same issue as the sealing mechanism is poorly designed.

The car lurched and tilted for no reason when driven, on both the highway and local roads.no dashboard indication of any problem. Dealer service department says unable to duplicate the problem.

The vehicle key will not come out of the ignition.the vehicle was place on park, the key will go down to the accessory position.however, when the key is pushed in to remove the key, the key will not move to the off position, so the key may be removed.

Up to march 17, 2021 when i would drive by sign with a posted speed limit the car would 'read' the sign and display the speed on dash for approx. 30 seconds then the speed limit sign would disappear.on march 18, 2021 things changed''when i got on interstate -75 and passed the sign with the posted speed limit 70mph the digital sign on the dashboard read 75 mph.(photo a)'a second change was the display did not vanish after 30 seconds but remined displayed.'as i passed several other 70mph signs the display in the car still read 75mph.i then cancelled radar tracking to see if the problem would go away and it did not (photo b).'i thought maybe if i came to a complete stop the 75mph would disappear; it did not (photo c)'finally, when i passed a posted speed limit of 45 mph the dashboard speed limit updated. (photo d).my guess as to what is going on '. On the night of march 17, 2021 toyota updated the software to all cars, so the dashboard speed limit sign would not disappear.inadvertently, toyota somehow made a 2nd unintentionally change so the when the car's computer sees a 70mph sign it reads it as 75mph.

Make a stretch noise when i maketurn sharp ,and steering become stiff

Roof rack is leaking on both sides of my rav4.i can't get any assistance with getting it fixed. It's a 2019 with 58,000 on it. I have seen several post with the same issue.

Precollision warning system is not working.complained to dealer but no action done.almost hit a couple times pedestrians.it looks like radar sensors ln front are not working.front camera is working.

The fuel tank is supposed to take 14.5 gallons but in reality only takes 9.5 gallons, called dealer and they state they have no knowledge of problem even though there are several articles regarding issue.

Dash has been cracking on both passenger and drivers side, the crack on passenger side is approximately 1.5 inches in length and stops by airbag panel on dash. The drivers side crack is roughly ten inches and is continuing up towards instrument panel (still cracking). No accidents, cracks get bigger with time and driving.

Vehicle is equipped with a low pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If the vehicle stall occurs while driving, this could increase the risk of crash

Safety sensing system not functional - see attached letter.

Driving on the freeway at 60mph on a 65-degree day and my sunroof exploded. It sounded like a gunshot, the glass blew out and down the back of my car.

Car/suspension squeaks over any bumps, down hills, etc. It happens when in motion, and has been happening since purchased off the lot. I know 2 other rav4 owners that have the exact same noise and issue occurring.

Hi i leased this car 1 year ago and the recall scary me so much i have kids and i am worried can i usea lemon law to get out of this lease and get another onepls help thank you

I can not fill up my gas tank itshuts off at about 12 gallons

My vehicle has an outstanding recall for a while now. I am waiting for the issue to get resolve. I limited my driving locally except for medical appointments and out of town emergency. I need to know what is next. I just can't keep restricting myself of fear of vehicle malfunction. Please advise

The car staled and i heard a weird noise , like a ripping sound, i informed the service dept person when i took my car for oil change.

This toyota rav4 adventure groans/squeaks after it's been running for a while. When this happens there is a 1 to 2 second hesitation and the steering seems unresponsive whenever the sound is heard. The longer the vehicle has been running or the hotter the outside temperature, the more often the sound is heard.

Toyota rav4 2019 don't have a car bumper that protects the care wail parking or in the parking lot it has a plack covering the lower part of the car and in the same level as the fiberglass on the upper part so if abut to hit a wall you get the car body at the same time as the bumper in new york state require cares to have bumper plus all the sensitive parts in this care are behind the bumper to fix it costed me $18000

Passenger side blind spot monitor does not detect all vehicles in blind spot.while driving on the highway 1 out of every 10 cars in the blind spot are not detected.i have several videos showing this that i provided to the toyota dealer near me.they are not sure what is happening and have not got back to me in over a week now.i first noted this problem about 3 weeks ago when driving home from the dealer with my new rav4.i have a 2017 rav4 that does not have this problem.the problem only occurs on the passenger side blind spot monitor.thanks.

Brand new vehicle had only been driven 20 miles away from the dealership, at low speed, in a parking lot, alarms began going off indicating numerous system malfunctions including;low brake power, antilock brake system malfunction, vehicle stability control system malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, electronically controlled brake system malfunction,pre-collision system malfunction, ultrasonic detecting & ranging system malfunction.

While i was driving down the road, i heard a loud pop above my head. Then what sounded like pebbles hitting my roof so i slid my sunroof visor back a little and i could see the broken glass.

Unable to fill fuel tank to capacity.when fueling shuts off at about 7 to 8 gallons.

Pcs does not work. Dealer tested it with an instrument that claims it is ok. I rechecked it 4 times.it is dysfunctional. Since it is a blind system i suspect others may have non operational systems without realizing it. Owner manual instructs users not to try testing'which is actually very simple at reasonably slow speed of about 25 mph. I experienced no sound or visual warnings and no braking during several trials.

The car's fuel tank does not fill up. Each time i fill up, it allows approx 10-11 gallons of a 14 gall tank. Unclear if the fuel gauge is working or if the alert for needing gas is accurate. Not performing as advertised.

The roof rails in my 2019 rav4 are leaking into my car. Toyota dealership is aware of this issue in my hometown as iā€™m not the only person to come forward with this however stated that being there isnā€™t a recall there is nothing they can do. This is a dangerous as the roof holds air bags, electrical components amongst the mold that itā€™s causing. I have a son who is highly allergic to the mold spores. Toyota used the cheapest parts available to put this car together. This needs attention as people are paying 35-40000 for these vehicles for this to take place and they turn their backs . Please take this serious please

Roof leaks in heavy rain or car wash.water stains noted on the a pillars requiring replacement of the headliner. Concern of water damaging the air bags in the pillars.now leaking through the front ceiling light with heavy rain.

After entering an address, i deceided not to go there. The gps cannot be readdressed or deleted with a simple comand. It is most distracting to hear the repetition of the previous address while driving. No one person at the dealership could give instructions to delete the gps, except to turn it off.

Some times at take off engine shudders as if to die.at times when stopped with car in gear and window down can smell antifreeze. My window is hardly ever down. Sometimes exiting the car i can smell it faintly.

The sunroof on my 2019 toyota rav 4 exploded while driving on the highway. No other cars or people were anywhere nearby. Nothing hit the sunroof. It exploded suddenly and sounded like we were shot at.

Puchased auto 3/20/19 and within a few miles noticed the transmission "jumped" when slowing down and then accelereating without coming to a complete stop (as someone turning ahead of you and you slow down before getting too close).by "jumping" it is like the auto lurches forward (drops a gear?).i don't notice this as much when accelerating after a full and complete stop.at first i thought i might be heavy footed for the new car, but this has not been the case since i am now very aware and try very hard to accelerate gently.i have read many reports online of this same problem, but i wanted my opinion to be with the safety organization, not an online complaint site.

You can hear wind when driving your vehicle. When you get up to 50 miles per hour is when u can hear it good. Also you can smell freon. I reported this to my dealership within two weeks of purchase.

On april 5, 2021 at 10:40am on a highway going 50 mph there was an extremely loud bang.luckily without crashing i parked on the side and saw that the sunroof had shattered with the appearance of coming from within. The shade had been closed therefore the glass was prevented from scattering on me.i had toyota chula vista, ca check it out and they declined to honor the warranty.the week afterwards i spoke to the manager of toyota in yuma, az where i purchased the automobile who also declined to honor the warranty and recommended to make a claim with my car insurance. I have learned that it is common for sunroofs to explode in this car.there was a class action suit that has already been settled. Please inform me of any future recalls.i will upload photos.

When starting the car after 2 or 3 days not being driven and subsequently put it in reverse, there is a very loud noise coming from the front, maybe at the transmission. Once you shift to "drive", the noise disappear. The rav4 has only 74 miles.

Since i purchased this vehicle 2/16/2019 me and my husband been smelling freon or antifreeze. This has been reported to servicing every time the vehicle get serviced but with little or no assistance.

Gas tank will not fill up completely - leaving about 2-4 gallons short that could not go inside the gas tank regardless how hard you tried. This happens every time you do pump the gas fill up.

The gas tank does not fill completely. It only takes 10 gallon as against the 14.5 advertised.

Moaning, buzzing noise of front differential when acceleration to 35mph, also upon deceleration, especiallywhen car is hot.

One of the speakers of the new vehicle delivered on january 3, 2020 was not working. The dealership ordered a new speaker on january 13 and as of today, february 6th, the dealership says they have not received the speaker to be replaced. They said the manufacturer which is jbl may not have the speaker available or it may be on backorder.

The engine of this vehicle can be turned off by pressing the keyless "off"button on the dash without the transmission having to be in "park".i turned off the engine with the transmission in the drive position on a slight incline in a shopping center parking lot i exited the car and it rolled backwards. I was able to jump back into the car, start the engine, roll forward, put it in park and turned off the engine.had this been on a steeper incline i would not have had a chance to get back into the car and stop it from rolling backwards.it could easily have hit other cars or people walking in the parking lot.this is a scary situation and could be remedied by the manufacturers by ensuring that the engine can only be turned off with the transmission in the park position.this was a rental car from the dallas/fort worth airport.

2019 toyota rav4 sunroof spontaneously exploded on my daughter and me while driving at 70 mph over monument pass (7300') in middle lane of i-25 south on may 20, 2019.no vehicles were in front of us in any lane.startled by what sounded like a gunshot right above our heads, and we were showered with shards of glass in the front seats and some in the back seat floor as well.caused bleeding on my head, arm, hand, and face primarily as i tried to shake/extract the glass from me.5700 miles on odometer.vehicle was rented from national rental car. About an hour earlier.the temperature had dropped to near freezing as we climbed the summit and there were a few snowflakes starting to fall.no hail was seen or heard.no hail (or any other) damage on any other portion of the car.nationwide insurance verbally reported there were no incidents of hail reported that afternoon in the state of co.no foreign objects beyond the sunroof glass were found inside the car.pictures attached.also have full video of the car inside and out after the sunroof exploded.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that while idling at 35 mph,the vehicle acceleratedforward without warning. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable.the vehicle wastaken to venice toyota (900 us-41 byp, venice, fl 34285; (941) 484-9000) where it was confirmed the vehicle was working as designed and that the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I received 2 speeding camera tickets due to sudden acceleration noticed time to time, front suspensions are not even and rough, transmission is not smooth when changing gears and/or stopping vehicle.

Vehicle accelerated suddenly when i was trying to get into aparking spot on my left side. Saved from crashing into the adjacentcar when i quickly pushed the brakes, very scary. It was raining at the time, and the parking spot i was aiming for is at an incline.

I was pulling into my garage when my rav4 took off like a rocket and hit the concrete back wall.*dt the consumer has stated that the incident occurred once more when the consumer was at the tampa international airport in the cell phone parking lot. The vehicle suddenly accelerated and diagonally went ahead and collided with 2 other vehicles. *as

1) while driver applies the brake pedal to bring vehicle to a complete stop on a city street, at a point approximately between 1500 and 1000 rpm, the vehicle attempts to accelerate up to approximately 2000 rpm while the brake pedal is being pressed, for a duration of approximately 1-2 seconds before disengaging and decelerating. 2) while the vehicle is stopped and idling in a parking lot, at approximately 1000 rpm, with the transmission in the drive (d) position, with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle attempts to accelerate to approximately 1500 rpm for approximately 1 second and lurch forward and then disengages and decelerates back to idle as long as the brake pedal remains depressed.*dt

On light acceleration from an intersection and/or mild cruising speed in eco mode, there is an often violent lurch from stop or surging at cruising speeds. With traction control switched off, the problem is lessened, buttraction control by default turns back on in <one minute.we have been told by both marietta and world toyota that this is a known problem, likely related to drive-by-wire, and that toyota has no plans to address the issue until something happens to justify the financial burden of a "fix".we live in atlanta, where traffic is intense and reliability is key. This is our 14th toyota and first problem that has been ignored. The service department does not know how to fix the problem without guidance from toyota corporate.we are markedly limiting our use of the vehicle (3k miles in 7+ months) due to risk of collision. The problem began after we had driven the car for one month.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav-4. The contact stated that whilehis wife was driving at 10 mph the vehicle hesitated, failed to accelerate and crashed into a2008 kia sportage. The driver was able to drive away from the scene. There were no reported injuries. A police report was filed. The contact called eastern shore toyota(29732 frederick blvd, daphne, al 36526 (251) 250-0161) but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted who referred thecontact to local dealer to obtain a loaner vehicle. The failure mileage was 4,500. The contact received a notice of nhtsa campaign number: 20v682000 (fuel system, gasoline). Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Car doest not move right away at a stop even when stepping on the accelerator at 3-4 rpm.very dangerous when your in the intersection when turning left or when crossing the street.seems like the transmission slips

Bought new.

Driving at interstate speed when small gravel breaks a silver dollar size star shaped crack in windshield on passenger side.approximately 10 minutes later another object hit passenger side windshield and created another star slapped crack in the glass near passenger wiper arm. Had windshield replaced within 7 days upon returning home. The new windshield which is a genuine toyota windshield is now chipped in several places. Everything that hots the windshield either cracks the glass or creates a significant chip that interfere with proper vision. I feel the glass is defective. Toyota just said i was unlucky. But a windshield should afford some safety from road debris, that tipically doesn't crack or even chip the glass. If a quarter size rock or larger object hits the rav 4 windshield that i'm driving, i have no doubt that it will burst out.i have been driving for 53 years and has one windshield replaced prior to this one. This rav4 currently has approximately 38000 miles on the odometer.a shattered windshield is a significant risk factor in any accident. I don't know what would happen if the windshield supplied by the manufacturer proved defective.

Driver side mirror problems:1. Mirror distortion: causes images in the mirror to be blurry. Issue is especiallyapparent in sunny days.2. The trim, especially the silver one, and the a/c vent excessively reflects onto the driver side mirror.3. At highway speeds and slightly rough driving surfaces, the driver side mirrorwobbles.

At highway speeds, over 45 mph, the driver's side rear view mirror vibrates.this occurs on most surface whether smooth or rough. When the mirror is vibrating, it makes it difficult to clearly view what is occurring to the left and behind the vehicle.during night time driving, headlights create a distraction as the mirror is distorting andshimmering the lights in the driver's view.this makes driving unsafe.reported this problem to toyota service department.invoice shows that vehicle "operating as designed" as service rep indicated they have had several complaints for this so this is normal for the 2019/2020 rav4.

Side mirrors have a vibration that affect your driving focus at the time you look at them. Generate a blurry vision and dizziness. This was notified to the dealer and verified, but they said it was a design issue.

I just bought a new 2019 rav4. While driving, i noticed that the driver-side side mirror (on the left side) appears to be distorting or strangely magnifying the objects. I am not sure if this is a "feature", but it takes some time for my eyes to adjust from looking at the road in front to the side mirror because the focus seems to be off. In fact, after a half hour of driving my wife had a headache from glancing at the mirror. We have not experienced anything like this in any other car. Additionally, while driving, the mirror tends to vibrate a lot, making it even more difficult to look into combined with the distorted image.

The driver side mirror on my 2019 rav 4 adventure shakes/rattles when driving.it makes looking through the mirror blurry.this happens at highway speeds, even on smooth pavement.in the city on city streets bumps also add to this issue.i have taken this to toyota and my dealer has refused to fix this issue.i first complained about this the day i purchased the vehicle and was assured it would be something they would fix.that has not happened.this is a safety issue.i cannot see clearly into the mirror so i can see things behind me when driving.

Driver end of lower dash board trim reflects on the driver side view mirror.reflection interferes with visibility.reflection goes away when the window is fully lowered.toyoto cust service claims problem is a design defect and there is no fix for it right now.dangerous to drive the vehicle without covering the drivers end of the dash.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated that the exterior rearview mirrors shook and rattled. Also, while driving, it looked as if two vehicles were shown in the mirrors every time. The driver's side rearview mirror was especially affected. The contact's vision remained blurred while using the mirror. The vehicle was taken to toyota of north scranton (3400 n main ave, scranton, pa 18508, (570) 489-7584), but was not diagnosed or repaired because they stated the failure was a "manufacturer's defect". The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 1,921.

Driving on the freeway at 60mph on a 65-degree day and my sunroof exploded. It sounded like a gunshot, the glass blew out and down the back of my car.

The contact owns a 2019 toyota rav4. The contact stated the roof rack assembly was leaking water into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer greentree toyota service center (45 commerce rd, brookfield, ct 06804, (203) 775-6221) where it was diagnosed with needing the roof rack assembly to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.*dtthe consumer stated the 2nd repair was completed on 3/11/21.

Make a stretch noise when i maketurn sharp ,and steering become stiff

Dealerships that i have cupping with my tires and a 27,000 mi said that the tires were no good and should be replaced does a 50,000 mi tire and it has spots that are less than 3/32 in tread wear i wouldn't even have checked them at half the tread life or have the service life on a tire the manufacturer knows these tires aren't good and won't replace them the toyota will not replace them and people should know that these tires are failing after 25,000 miles
