Vehicle was making a left turn, when another vehicle went through a 'red' light and hit it on the right fender.fender came off. Other vehicle had front smashed in and airbags deployed.the air bags did not deploy in the toyota.driver was wearing seatbelt, but lack of airbag caused drivers arm and chest to hit steering wheel and legs to hit other components.

I called my local toyota dealer about the toyota air bag recall(takata) they provided my with a rental vehicle and suggested that i call the toyota customer assistance.when i called the toyota customer assistance my vehicle was not registered to my name as it was still in the previous owner's name according to their data base.this is my concern.i had to tell toyota corporation the type and year of vehicle that i had as well as the vin number and she "updated" the data base.my concern is for the other people that drive toyota vehicles that are part of this recall but are not in their data base.we purchased this vehicle over 1 year ago and it should be in their data base.i didnot receive a letter from the toyota corporation about the air bag as i read the paper and followed what the nhtsa said for owners of the recalled vehicles to do.if i would have not called toyota they would not have had my information on my car to send me a recall safety notice.i am concerned for the other owners of vehicles recalled by toyota that are not updated in their data base with the new owner's information.i purchased this car from a premier toyota in amherst, ohio.i am not sure how these data bases are updated, if ohio sends the license information to toyota or individual car companies send in the information on the updates.it is an issue i think needs to be addressed.

Numerous times over the last couple of months my cars eps light will come on after putting my car into reverse the car does not connect and goes into neutral instead causing the car to roll forward creating hazards because it happens on hills andflat areas. Started smoking at the second window, pulled back into the parking lot, shut off vehicle. Got out of vehicle to access smoke, fire started, got back int car then an explosion. Grabbed my daughter and my things the best i could. There was about two or three more explosions afterwards, the fire department came to take out the flames; this was after other employees from the same area tried to put out the fire with fire extinguishers but it wasnā€™t much help. From toyota dealer four weeks and 200 miles after parking in the garage the next morning it would not start several try's later it barley started, i am a retired mechanic, the headlights were normal bright with horn honking, the dealer told my wife the battery had 0 cranking amps they installed a new 80 month toyota battery,. My problem is safety issues going to the internet and searching toyota problemsbattery's, electrical shorts, electrical fires, stopping unexpectedly loss of steering, electric wire burn smell, i could go on my point is everything is tied together electrical issue with wiring shorts ! i don't want to sound like an alarmist but it might sound that way, something is causing allthe issues with early battery failure, as a mechanic 50 years i have seen this before and almost always it is a electrical short some ware in the system, and in some vehicles you no longer have throttle cables or linkage you have electric assistmeaning a motor or some kind of pressure sensitive device that can short and inadvertently cause the vehicle to stop or causethe vehicle to advance full throttle with no way to stop!i'm hoping some one will read this that can help put our minds to rest or please look into this issue, i am afraid for my wife and all loved ones driving these vehicles.

I drove for a few seconds, less than a block out of a parking lot, onto a local street, when my 2015 rav4 suddenly shut down and smoke starting coming out from under the hood. Purchased this car dealer certified after being leased for 9 months by someone else, from new rochelle toyota. Had 5700 miles on it at the time of purchase. Since purchase it does not always start the first time, sometimes taking 3-4 times to start, and making strange noises, it sounds like its going to start and then dies. Has been to the shop 3 times and going in for the 4th time today,on 12/4 a new fuel pump relay was installed, starts better but still unknown reason why itat times it still takes 3-4 times to start it.is a mystery , nothing shows up on the tech computers after it happens over and over again. Have owned toyotas for over 17 years never expected an issue like this.also lights flicker and there are strange noises when attempting to start and unsuccessful. No rhyme or reason to this issue.took possession of the car 10-13-15i think it is a lemon. I have a video of what happens dont think i can upload to this website.

Four incidents of damage to wiring by rodents.mechanic believes the rodent to be a rat. One rat has been caught in a live trap. Yet two more incidents of eaten wiring.the rat eats the insulation on the wiring and bites through the wiring.the ratdrags tissues into the h/a vents.even tried to eat a package of foil wrapped hand wipes.the rat has left scat under the seats.the rat was observed playing under my car while parked downtown.he managed to get back in the car and rode 'home.'

Car stalled while driving and battery set on fire. Battery was last replaced in october 2020 at toyota dealership.

After 10 days of owning the car and less than 600 miles the car wouldn't run and we had to have it towed to the dealership. They said it was not under warranty and that the damage was caused by a rodent. Later that same evening our salesman called and informed us that components in the car are "green" and made of soybean and to keep our car in the garage (which we don't have). I have since caught a mouse under the hood of the vehicle with a glue trap and found hair and mouse droppings. The best offer they have given me is to give me a different toyota vehicle at cost (and take the loss on my current vehicle).i have complained to both the dealership and to toyota. I have had two other vehicles parked in within the same proximity for over two years.i have never had rodent issues with either of them and i run into issues within the first 10 days with a new vehicle.i am concerned for the safety of my wife and two year old child.if there are mice living inside the car, they could be leaving rat droppings that could be harmful to both of them.i am angry and concerned and don't understand why, when other vehicles parked in the same location aren't experiencing the same problem, this isn't a valid reason to return the car.here are two articles that detail the problem myself and other toyota owners have had - http://ctwatchdog.com/finance/rodents-damage-cars-by-chewing-electrical-connections-tips-on-how-to-avoid-costly-repairs, http://www.synlube.com/incredibleediblecar1.htm

Driver was driving on the highway when the screen turned off and on and the steering wheel seized momentarily. Approximately 5 minutes later, screen went blank again and could not accelerate. Driver pulled over to the side of the road. Strange noises were coming from under the hood and the car starting smoking and then caught on fire.

Driving normal, made a right turn and car suddenly restarts, steering wheel locks up during turn for a couple seconds. Electric restart engine and turns off the car and cannot gas it, only brake. Car comes back on without me turning it on and does not happen again rest of the drive. Driving normal for a few days, happens again, engine restarts again randomly while making a right turn, same exact description as described previously.multiple dates of occurence

The vehicle stalled while i was driving on a highway at approximately 55 mph. I had been driving for 15 minutes. I lost power at the dashboard, lost power steering, and the engine stopped running. I coasted to a side street and stopped the car. I opened the hood, and discovered a fire in the engine compartment. The battery cable closest to the engine was on fire, and had melted one corner of the battery. A passerby helped extinguish the fire, and the fire department was called to inspect and make sure the fire was out.earlier that day, the vehicle stalled in the same way while driving approximately 5 mph in a parking lot, but the power came back in a few seconds. Immediately preceding that was a 1-hour drive at interstate highway speeds with no troubles.

The dom lights fuse keeps blowing.it appears to have a short but some times the fuse takes a little time to blow.yesterday i tried to replace the fuse three times, and three fuses were blown immediately.

The car was running on the street in the city when it suddenly stopped, fire and smoke rose from the battery's side. After extinguishing the fire, the vehicle could not move, and had to call the tow truck to the repair shop. I have witnesses.

Driving normal, made a right turn and car suddenly restarts, steering wheel locks up during turn for a couple seconds. Electric restart engine and turns off the car and can't gas it, only brake. Car comes back on without me turning it on and does not happen again rest of the drive. Driving normal for 2 days and on the 3rd day, engine restarts again randomly while making a right turn, same exact description as described previously. Driven car for a day and incident hasn't repeated yet. But, now not sure if this affected it, sensors of car door open sign is on when car is turned off and all doors and windows are in place for locking. Only when car is off and i cannot fix it.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise that progressed randomly. Various warning indicator lights flashed and the vehicle was hesitant to start on several occasions. Upon starting the vehicle, it stalled several times and also would not start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than three times and they were not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure more than once and was unable to provide a permanent remedy for the condition. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 5,700.

Shortly after driving with no issues, the parked car started to smoke from underneath the hood.within seconds, a large fire had started which completely consumed the car and also spread to my wife's car and the house's carport.insurance investigator informed us that the fire likely started in/near the engine towards the drivers side based on where the hottest parts of the fire appeared to have been.however, no conclusive determination was made regarding the cause.the car was in good condition and had not had any maintenance work performed on it recently.there were also no signs of intrusion by rodents or other animals.this happened with no warning.i've also since learned this had happened only one month before to the parents of one of our childrens' friends.they also had a rav4, although not the same model year (i believe it was a 2013).i have also seen many other reports while researching this issue.if there is a defect or design flaw contributing to these fires, it should be addressed quickly!

Wiring harness has to be completely replaced, cause do to rodents chewing all wiring because of all the ingredients they use in the soy based wiring insulation.

I was entering traffic from a stop sign and collided with a black car at night that did not have it's headlights on. Their air bag deployed, - mine did not. City of raleigh, nc. Streets.

The car fails to start at times with keyless start i have been stranded in unsafe situation i have brought it to the attention of fort bend toyota with no fix for the problem. The problem has occurreda number of times since i bought the car.

The light on the cruise control stalk blinks and it is very distracting at night while driving. Then the cruise control started dropping out while driving. No warning lights or codes were stored in the computer when checked by the dealer. The dealer replaced the cruise control switch, but the problem got worse. The engine started shutting off while driving on the highway with a total loss of electrical power and would take several minutes before it would restart due to no electrical power. The dealer then adjusted the switch on the brake pedal but it didn't help. The radio/navigation screen has since locked up and you have to restart the car to reset it. The engine will sometimes shut of for a few seconds and the restart on its own while driving. When this happens several warning lights stay on (abs, airbags, traction control & all wheel drive). The lights do not reset until the car is turned off and back on by the key. I have almost been involved in 3 accidents because of these problems. The car is now in the shop after contacting the manufacturer several times about the failure of the dealer to repair the car and that it is unsafe to drive. It is at a different dealership due to the selling dealers incompetence in their service departmentand management to address the problem. These problems have been going on for over 5 months and over a period of 15,000 miles and i do not believe it can be fixed and i do not believe the manufacturer is really trying to repair the car because of all the stalling they are currently doing at this time. I need your help.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. When the ignition key was inserted into the ignition, an abnormal noise emitted from the vehicle and it failed to start. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75.

Recall on powerstearing unit eps ecu been in shop two week and still not fix

Car stalled so i pulled over. There was smoking under the hood. Within minutes it turned into a big fire. Fire department had to be called.

Was driving along when some warning lights came on, specifically the check engine light, traction control off light and the awd light. 2 seconds later i heard a loud pop, saw smoke coming from the hood. I pulled over and looked in the engine compartment and saw flames. I suspect the coolant line popped and caught fire. My safety could have been at risk if the battery exploded or oil/gas components were to catch fire. The car is currently at a dealer to be inspected. A nhp accident report was filled out and can be available if needed.

I was driving with my 2 sons from jfk airport to woodside, queens in new york. We just got off the van wyke highway and were traveling west on queens boulevard.the speed limit on queens boulevard is 25.we were approaching a red light when we noticed smoke coming from the under the hood.i pulled over and turned off the car, when we got out of the car we noticed there were flames starting to come out from under the hood. We immediately grabbed our items, purse, phone, coats and got away safely from the car. We called 911 and within a few minutes the fire department arrived and put out the car. The whole front of our car and dash were burned as well as part of the drivers seat. Our insurance stated the car was totaled. Our car was inspected in december and had less than 5,000 miles.we purchased the car new from toyota in 2015 and had it serviced by the dealer every 6 months. The fire department said leaves had caught fire, but it had rained that day and the engine should not get hot enough to light leaves on fire. An engine fire on a 2015 car with less than 5000 miles should not happen.

I have bought rav 4 awd xle 2015 in july, 2015. It started giving me problems within 1 year. I went to toyota dealer 3 -4 times to fix it. He even replaced transaxle and some bolts and put some engine oil in it but again i got all these engine lights on my car display board. Everytime, no. Of lights are increasing n the display board. Sounds like they are not able to fix this manufacturing defect. Suddenly car became sluggish on the highway, not picking up the speed. So scared to drive a defective car on the highway. Speciallywhen problem is in your car engine.(engine light on, track off on, a/t oil temp on, awd on ,) what else left in the car. Really fusterated and dangerous. Everytime new light comes on and off.

The car was being driven in philadelphia at a low speed when the engine caught fire. The fire quickly was out of control and destroyed most of the car, including the engine, dashboard, front seats, windshield, windows, front tires which exploded, and airbags.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,896.

Temporary loss of power. On a trip from san francisco to cypress, ca on the i-5 freeway cruising at 70 mph a sudden temporary loss of power occurred at least 30 times (this with odometer in 6,000 mile range). I had reported this problem to my toyota dealer at approximately 3000 miles. They said their technician could not find any problem. Around 1/3/2020 i took it to dealer and said i would leave it there until they repaired it. I purchased an 8 year extended warranty in oct., 2014. After. 4 days dealer called for me to pick it up. Was told there was no problem, their computer read my car computer and found that while right foot was on gas and left foot either near or on the brake pedal when it occurred. Since my left foot was resting on mat without any movement why didn't the loss of power happen constantly! they said it was a safety feature. I say it is a danger.. I have had it happen making right or left turns & starting when signal turns green. On line i have seen same complaints. One mechanic suggested it could be a mass air flow circuitmalfunction. Another said it could be air fuel ratio sensor intermittently failing which could test ok. Notice we only have around 6,000 miles on car we bought in oct. 2014 because problem cannot be predicted.

Driving on slight grade at approx. 55 mph.attempted to pass car in front of me.checked left lane, semi about 50-75 yards back.pressed down gas pedal and nothing.it was like the car went into neutral.meanwhile semi is approaching.pumped pedala few times nothing semi has to slow down because i am slowing down instead of accelerating.finally pedal catches and car accelerates.this has happened about 5 times since i got this car new in january, toyota dealer service person says this is normal as everything is done by computer now, not hardwire.computers are exceptionally fast so i don't buy it. He did admit that another rav4 driver had complained about the same thing i did.he advised me to hold the pedal down and the acceleration will kick it.tried it.did not do anything.very worried.plus semi driver must think i'm an idiot.

Pink coolant kept disappearing. Have to refill once every 6 months.fill to full and 6 months later coolant will be at low level. Car only 4 years old. It had happened since day 1.

I was trying to close the hatch which is too hard to pull down for a normal person and i got it about a foot to be able to close it and my hand slipped off the gate and the gate flew back up and knocked my left ear, head and glasses so hard it cut my ear and head and my ear was swollen and bruised in which the ear is still bruised and i have a scar where the cut is on my ear. I was unable to sleep or put any pressure at all on that side of my head

Head lights are very low. Cannot see anything on the road if the street lights are not there. There is not use of head lights as it cannot bring any visibility during night time which makes night drives nearly impossible. I have shown the vehicle to toyota service center and they said everything is good and he cannot increase the intensity of light. High beams are working fine but cannot drive in the city whileturning them on. Not sure how to solve this problem.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. The contact stated that the headlights failed to illuminate the road. The vehicle was taken to falmouth toyota (located on 290 macarthur blvd, bourne, ma 02532), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but did not offer any assistance. The vin and failure mileage were unknown. Updated 08/24/17*lj

The dom lights fuse keeps blowing.it appears to have a short but some times the fuse takes a little time to blow.yesterday i tried to replace the fuse three times, and three fuses were blown immediately.

Poor fuel economygetting 17mpg

Hi, i have a 2015 rav 4 purchased 9/2015, new and only owner...out of nowhere jan. 2017...the car would not accelerate properly...on hwy at speeds between 60-70mph and when i pressed the gas nothing...had to remove foot and press the gas again for the car to engage and stay at its proper speed. Toyota dealer could not find an issue. Jan. 14th....the issue started again and i returned it to dealer 1/21 and stated issue was not fixed...now happening between 20-40mph too. Does not occur all of the time and yet consist enough that it is scary to drive.

After gassing up in a station (full tank) and the gas nozzle clicked to a stop, soon as extracting the nozzle from the rav4, fuel sprays with a force of pressure from the gas tank towards the person holding the nozzle.after this event happened the third time, we brought the rav4 back to toyota to be checked.was returned to us the next day with an ok result.but the next 2 to 5 weeks the same problem happened, so we requested that a replacement rav4 be given us - but toyota refused stating that with the warranty, they will now perform a rigid test - the results of which confirmed the problem of gas sprays.we just got back the rav4, and toyota said they replaced the gas tank with a new one and saying that the old one had "a factory defect wherein the tank flapper was not closing properly.i am putting this on record on this report, for further investigation of nhtsa for the safety of other owners.

After fueling, gas splattered all over me and ruined my clothing.this is a rental car.

Ongoing issues with my fuel system. Car will display one of these many symptoms:-misfire, hard start, stall or shutoff. Other symptoms include car stuttering and stalling out while driving. This last symptom is very dangerous as it often comes with no warning. When the car stalls out, the car is driving up straight up a medium grade hill. I have experienced this on several different dates and times along w 24th st. Austin, tx near 1106 w 24th st. This will happen if i'm either stopping at a light or while in motion. I don't have the exact mph i am driving, but it would be around 20 - 40 mph when this occurs. Ive taken the care to both round rock toyota and christian auto brothers to address the issue. So far, neither have been able to diagnose the problem. On 5/22/20, christian auto brothers replaced the evaporative emissions system leak detection unit r&r, the fuel evaporative canister r&r, the evaporative emissions system leak detection pump, and the vapor canister purge solenoid. This did not resolve the issue.current codes:p0441, p0455, p1604, p1605, p0171. While no diagnostic proof has been established, it is hypothesized by the mechanics that there is an issue with either the fuel pump or the fuel line. After reading about the 2020 toyota fuel pump recall, i believe my 2015 rav4 has been experiencing similar issues. However, it is not part of the recall. Therefore i am submitting this incident info to document the current situation. If i learn more, i will try to update.

A. Mileage indicator: full thank gives any where from 325-365 miles. But indicator goes down precipitously. If it indicates 20 miles, it will go down to 0 or 8 miles after only a 5 miles drive. B: the only safety i feel is put at risk is where it can leave me when my anticipated mileage suddenly goes below what was indicated. C: have reported to dealer a couple of times but always informed nothing defective could be detected d: never received any warning signals. Just happens.

Car will not start on 1st try. It may start 2nd or 3rd time while holding gas peddle to the floor. Loud popping sound from underneath the car. Sounds like changing gears on a manual.car has less than 50k miles

On june 13, 2016, i noticed my gas tank was full, after it wastank the day before. So, i thought my husband had filled it up before he left for his business trip that morning.towards the end of the week, i noticed the tank was still full, so i knew something was not right.spoke to my husband who had then confirmed that he did not fill up the tank before he left. Went to the gas station and it cost me $34.00 dollars to fill it up, i almost ran out of gas! i could have gotten into a bad accident if this would have happened while driving on the highway!took the car into the dealership and was told that it could be either the floater or it could have been rodents nibbling at the wires, because someone had had that experience already.anyway, of course it ends of being the rodents.so, i searched the internet to get more familiar with this problem and found a load of information.apparently, this is contributed to toyota's move to eco-friendly organic wiring insulator compounds that attract rodents as a food source!this is causing a problem with toyota car owners.i have a rav4 2010 which is kept inside and this situation has never happened. This 2015 rav4, which is garage kept, rodents seem to enjoy.this is a serious issue because people have experienced wiring damage by munching rodents, which is not covered under toyota warranty - a very expensive proposition.not to mention a safety hazard, had i ran out of gas on the highway!last week, it cost me $611.51, how much will it cost me the next time when they munch on another part of the car?

While car parked in my home driveway, wires under car chewed through by squirrels. Almost ruined the transmission. My double warranty does not cover, even though it was apparently a toyota factory choice to make the wire coatings attractive to rodents.

When first driving vehicle after sitting overnight, brakes squeak for the first ~5 minutes of use. When accelerating after starting car first thing after sitting overnight onto city street, car's transmission and rpm's skyrocket out of nowhere to 4,000 - 5,000when pulling onto street with 35 mph speed limit. When accelerating onto highway - usually in sport mode - car's rpm's go up like they should but transmission does not down shift properly and seems to get stuck at 3,000 - 4,000 rpms. Car only has 88,000 miles on it and transmission should not be slipping already.

The power stick shift moves to easily out of gear.it requires only a light depressing of the break to disengage it. On may 17 2019, i had been parked with the car on.i had dropped something on the floor and went to pick it up.my foot was lightly touching the break as i bent down.the break was depressed just enough to allow my shoulder or back to hit the stick shift and push it into reverse. Unbenounced to me, as i was still bending over to pick something up, the car was pushed into reverse and moved backwards into two cars behind me.this could have been a really tragic situation had someone been behind me in the parking lot.or worse, if i had a child in the car and i had gotten out to get something from the trunk and the child jumped into the drivers seat.i am not very tall, and so a child could easily depress the brake just enough to release the stick shift and could have run me over.there should be a secondary release button on all stick shifts or the brake peddle should need to be depressed all the way.this incident damaged three cars.and while not my fault as it was a defect or saftey issue with the car, my insurance has now been dinged for it.i have reported it to toyota but they do not seem to care.

New vehicle 625 miles. Does not seem to shift into the correct gear when attempting acceleration up hills or from parking lot to roadway ,orpassing vehicles. Does not have adequate power, engine makes a straining sound . Was attempting to accelerate to drive up hills, pass other vehicles especially on hill. Santiam hiway oregon. Less power than little kia andpt cruiserwhich easily passed me. Dealer had me compare it to a similar model on their lot, noticeable difference, lot vehicle did not have the problem. I have owned toyotas since 1984 and have a rav 4 2010 so i know this car is not accelerating properly

Whinning noise from rear of vehicle. Happens in all drive modes includingneutral

Pulling into parking space the engine started to rev. Put car in reverse and car was put in hish speed reverse causing car to hit another vehicle.

The contact took the vehicle to toyota of somerset (4195 s hwy 27, somerset, ky 42501) and gambrel toyota(311 w cumberland gap pkwy, corbin, ky 40701), however, the mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 23,000.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. The contact stated that his wife pulled into the driveway, pushed the ignition button; and applied the emergency brake; however, she forgot to shift the vehicle into the park position. Upon the contact's wife exiting the vehicle, it ran over her and crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact's wife was injured and received medical attention. Hesitates between first and second gear like going into nuetralfor about 3 / 5 seconds before shifting back to first. The car can be at a stop upon starting it hesitates, or when in motion and going to pass it hesitates, on city streets, highways and turning. We havereturned to the toyota dealer 4 times and they drove the car and stated nothing wrong. The fourth time in i drove the car with a mechanic and he witness the hesitation, then they checked the car and said nothing wrong with it. In researching on line we found complaints going back to 2006 and nothing being done. Why is toyota getting away with this. We know it doesn't happen to all toyota's as we had a 2008 and it was perfect. We have almost been hit from behind numerous times and scary when pulling out to pass, you never know if the car will take off. Car was bought used with 35000 miles on itin june of 2018 and certified nothing wrong with it.

The car is equipped with an automatic transmission.it rolls back on the slope when the brake is released.rolling back continues until the brake is pressed again.this happens while the transmission is in "drive".it rolls back usually when the car is driven at the low speed with frequent turns. Irvine autonation toyota lead technician marco stated that it is normal for some cars with a certain transmission (760ae?).he demonstrated with another rav4.that car rolled back also until the brake is pressed while the transmission was in "drive".problem is it doesn't roll back always.i expect the car would not roll back while it's in "drive".it would hit the car behind if i don't press the brake fast enough or press the gas pedal fast enough.it acts like a manual transmission rather than an automatic transmission.if i don't have fast reaction, driving in a hilly area would be dangerous.

Right side rearseat and middle rear seat belt buckles fail to lock properly or not at all. One is currently useless. Left side rear ok. I noted this purchasing this car used inspecting. Is this covered under a warranty or federal mandate?

Takata recall - the 3 seat belts in the back do not lock while in motion. My 6yr. Son is constantly sliding while the vehicle is in motion. It occurs when the vehicle is stationary, in motion, on a city street or highway, turning, applying the brakes, abruptly swaying to right or left to avoid collision, etc.

Back right passenger seat belt has a small tear.

The contact owned a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact noticed that another vehicle was approaching head on towards him. The contact attempted to avoid a crash and moved over to the other side of the highway; however, the other vehicle did the same thing. The other vehicle struck the contact on the passenger side of the vehicle. A police report was filed. The ambulance was called and four out of the five occupants were transported to the hospital. A ten year old occupant was air lifted to the hospital and later died. The vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. Prior to the crash, the contact was alerted that the rear passenger side seat belt was defective. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (north hollywood toyota, 4606 lankershim blvd, north hollywood, ca 91602) for regular maintenance. The technician informed the contact that the seat belt was defective and an appointment was scheduled for february 17, 2018. The crash occurred the day before the appointment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Power steering went out and brakesfailed , during an evasive maneuver..on or11. 2015: which subsequently impacted a tree

Slow down to make a right turn, the car completely shut off. Put on emergency lights pulled into nearest safest parking lot, braking systems failed, finally put car in park. Pulled keys out of ignition. Took a look around nothing was physically wrong, got back into vehicle started it, with no problem. Took it through the same parking lot, through the drive-thru. It halfway burned into the ground, the fireman had to use the jaws of life to get the hood off of the car to extinguish the fire.

As i was pulling into my parking lot, i pressed the brake to stop the vehicle. When i moved my gearshift into the park position, my car jumped the curb and drove into my exterior wall. After the collision, the car then started driving backwards at an accelerating speed. After jumping back into the parking lot, i crashed into a car parked behind me, which made the car finally stop. The airbags did not deploy during either collision. By the end, the vehicle had been totaled.

Brakes failed completely had to use emergency brakes to stop car on highway petal went all the way to floor tow car to dealership .checked ok to dealership" they said"

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, a vehicle stopped in front of the contacts vehicle. The brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond as the steering wheel seized. As a result. The contact crashed into a tree. The air bags deploy, releasing a chemical substance. The contact sustained arm, legs and whiplash injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Brakes started squeaking.service person inspected and said pads and rotors are fine; unable to determine cause.i researched internet and found there are many owners complaining about this problem.nhsta needs to issue a recall before someone gets seriously injured from failing brakes.

While pulling up to a gas pump the car suddenly accelerated. It went from zero to 40 miles per hour. I was in the passenger seat and my husband was driving. He pumped the brakes but car made a loud revving noise and would not stop. My husband was able to avoid hitting a truck, but the car went over a concrete mediano and only came to a stop when the emergency brake was pulled. The car was filled with airbag smoke even though the airbags did not deploy. A witness said that he could tell it was a mechanical issue because of the loud revving noise the car was making. Toyota has not been able to tell us what happened. They did not find a problem with brakes or accelerator. The car hit the median so hard that the frame has been bent. Even though we have been loyal toyota customer for over 20 years,my hope is that they total the car so that i don't ever have to drive it again. Our toyota case # is1604122141. I know that other people have had similar experiences-there is no doubt in my mind that there is a serious problem with that car.

While driving the car, the brakes started to grind around 27,500 miles.i took the vehicle to the dealer while it was still under warrant. The service agent told me that the 2015 rav4 had a design issue where the brakes start to go bad around my current millage of about 27,900. He also said that this is a known issue and it is not covered under warranty, nor is there a recall. He told me that i need to replace the brakes at the next service. He also said that because of the design issue, he is offering a discount at $290.00. It seams to me that a design issue that causes your brakes to go bad around 28,000 miles should not only be covered under warranty, but also have a recall issued to resolve the problem.

Brakes did not respond while driving and an accident occurred.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving 20 mph, the key indicator illuminated, the steering wheel seized, the brake pedal was difficult to depress, and the engine stalled. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

I used to have a 2004 toyota highlander limited and have never had this problem with this rav 4 limited. Sometimes when i park, i forget to put the vehicle in park (i never had this happen with my highlander) and then take my foot off the brake.my highlander did not do this.today my car started rolling backwards.i fell down and my elbow and arm is really scrapped up as i was trying to stop the car with my body and then i was almost run over as i fell on the ground.i could have hit a child or run over a child.i don't know if this is some type of problem with my car or if there is a setting i could use to prevent this.i don't want to be run over by my car or have anyone run over.

I purchase the rav4 in october 2015, and three months after the purchase i started to experience a crunching sound coming from my brakes and a fluctuation issue where the brakes do not always catch causing a safety concern. The dealer and toyota are refusing on two occasions to acknowledge the issue. I took the car in to the toyota dealer again on 7/28/2015 in hopes that they will finally fix the issue. The dealer will not document the issue!

2015 rav4 with less than 8,000 miles. On i-5 freeway at about 70mph traffic slowed, i applied brakes and a rapid thumping sound came on followed by a shaking that seemed to be from front left of car. Was on a thousand mile family emergency trip. Whenever i applied brakes at freeway speed the same thing happened. My independent mechanic by phone said it might be warped disc.

The brake pedal was totally locked (can't press down at all) when i was driving on a city street at 9:45am on 5/6/2017. I can't slowdown my car. I switched the shift fromdriving to parking, turned off the car, then the car stopped.

Sua incident - coasting before entering garage as usual with my right foot on floor and not engaged with accelerator or brake.upon entering the garage car began to accelerate, naturally shocking/baffling me, as i had already started braking and continued to do that to no avail as car proceeded to hit back wall of the garage whereacceleration stopped, car came to rest. I never drive with two feetand am absolutely certain my foot was on the brake and brake was not responding.also car did not accelerate with the same sound as it normally would if i pressed the gas peddle. It accelerated more like it was on cruise control...very smooth and steady.actually i'm grateful the wall wasn't far away so it didn't accelerate further. The incident happened june 11,2020 at around 10 am.do not know reason for sua, but will note that we had the garage door sensors repositionedon june 10.i'm noting that because where they are is about when i felt acceleration starting.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph down an incline, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to stop. As a result of the failure, the contact crashed into a wall and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact mentioned that the failure had recurred twice. A police report was filed. The driver sustained back and neck injuries that required medical assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal seized when it was depressed and theabs warning indicator illuminated. The contact had to turn the vehicle off and on for it to resume normal operation. The vehicle was taken to kings toyota (4700 fields ertel rd, cincinnati, oh 45249, (513) 683-5440) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. The dealer updated the ecm, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he would need to take the vehicle back to the dealer for a second diagnostic test. The failure mileage was approximately 61,372.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was slightly depressed and the engine revved. The brakes failed to respond and the emergency brake was engaged in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,010.

Pulling into parking space the engine started to rev. Put car in reverse and car was put in hish speed reverse causing car to hit another vehicle.

Intermittent brake failure. Two instances of brakes failing to engage when pressure applied. First instance caused car to crash into concrete median; no damage to vehicle or structure and incident not reported. Second brake failure april 14, 2016 as car was descending parking lot driveway (downhill slope) and driver applied brakes. Brakes failed to engage. As driver was attempting to engage the emergency brake the car careened over a comment curb, through a chain link fence and into a gas main and apartment building wall. Driver sustained some injury to neck and back due to force of impact. Airbag did not deploy.car was towed out of accident back on to the access road. Police officers in takoma park, md then tested car. Accident report describes "impact and damage"as "disabling", however owner was told to drive the car home. Driver is not fluent in english and due to translation errors the police report does not accurately reflect the actual cause of accident. Car is now at darcars toyota in rockville with at least $12,000 in repairs pending. Owner has auto insurance and car will be repaired or totaled out. However, owner is (understandably) terrified to drive the rav4 again for fear that the brakes will fail a third time - with possiblly catastrophic consequences to driver and others.owner speaks limited english and is a friend of the family. I am concerned for not only her safely, but the safely of others either from an accident that could be caused by this car or a serious malfunction that affects a greater number of rav4's on the road. I believe this issue should be very seriously investigated before placing the car on the road again.

In addition, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the anti-lock brake system failed. The brakes, pads, and rotors were replaced. In addition, both front tires were replaced, but the failure recurred. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Vehicle did not respond to braking (possible stalling, loss of control of vehicle), resulting in a severe crash involving two parked cars and property, injury to driver, and total loss. The vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed going down hill due to having no control over the vehicle. Because driver was unable to stop, the vehicle ran two stop signs. The crash resulted in the vehicle crashing into two parked cars, "jumping" those vehicles and running into a home. The vehicle was twice previously repaired under warranty for stalling.occasion 1 (14k miles): vehicle stalled at stoplight and key light was flashing. Error codes p1605 and p219a at the time. Occasion 2 (16k miles): vehicle stalled twice while stopped, on the same day. The vehicle was shaky at the stoplight and multiple warning lights came on, code p1605 (2nd repair).

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). The part was not available to schedule a recall repair within a reasonable timeframe. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The steering mechanism on this vehicle has frozen twice. The dealer could not replicate so sent on our way despite the fact that there are recalls on this model toyota. The steering wheel locked on i-20 and on 5th street bridge. Turning vehicle off and restarting ignition temporarily resolves issue. Both times occurred on relatively straight roads. I believe there is a defect in electronic steering system

Toyota issued a safety recall that affects potentially 46,000 vehicles and toyota estimates that 20,000 will need to have a steering part replaced. The letter from toyota advises car owners that it will take 1.5 hours to inspect and 2.5 hours to replace the part.after an entire day at the dealership yesterday, my car has not had the steering part replaced and toyota is unable to tell me when they will have the part for their own recall!i called fordham toyota last week to make an safety recall appointment. I took my car in yesterday (tuesday, june 9) at 8:30.when i picked it up at 2:30, they told me i needed the part, but they do not have it.no sense of how ridiculous it is to schedule an appointment for a recall repair without even having the part available. Nor the worry this causes me to know that i am driving my daughter around in a defective vehicle where our safety is compromised.i called toyota central to ask if they might facilitate having a different dealer (manhattan toyota) do the recall repair.after numerous conversations with different toyota employees (including manhattan toyota), i was advised that the procedure is that the toyota dealership inspects the vehicle, then orders the part and that it takes 2 days to get the part. And that if i wanted to have manhattan toyota do the recall repair, i would first need to have them inspect the vehicle - meaning another two day adventure.having gotten no resolution from the central toyota care line or manhattan toyota, i decided to call fordham toyota to request an appointment for saturday morning (2 days from now, enough time for them to get the part),i was told that they would need the car all day on saturday (not 2.5 hours as stated in the toyota letter), but that they need to first receive the part.i was told they will call me when they get it.

Steering wheel makes a strange noise when turning and the suspension seems to be off.

While driving on city streets and making a turn at approximately 20-25 mph, the vehicle's electric power steering cut out without any warning. The steering became extremely heavy with no assist. The red steering wheel icon lite up. This is the second time that this incident has occurred and luckily i did not have my family in the vehicle.

Three months ago i received notice for recall on steering, called bernardi toyota and made appt. Got there and they said machine was down and couldn't do it. Made another appt. And they said the machine couldn'tdo it because of label not being original. My side door had been hit so the label was replaced with a newone. Tech's would look into the matter, an let me know,i broughtthe car in for my regular check up aug 10th 2015 and asked about the matter and was told not to worry because most likely there was nothing wrong with it, but if anything happened to let them know. Well on sept.3, 2015 took a ride to cape cod from hudson mass. When i was getting ready to start back to hudson from the cape my steering let go. Could not move the car, called falmouth toyota and they said try and drive it to them which was about three mile, i did an they gave me a rental and fixed the car in a week. Question is , how come they could fix it in a week and bernardi didn't do it in mouths? i was lucky it wasn't serious, i am complaining about bernardi's service. I and my wife could have been seriously hurt along with people on the highway. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Car randomly shut off on monday of this year.also the radio is defective and car try's to switch gears while driving

I was exiting a highway on a curve (est. 40mph) when my power steering failed instantly jerking the steering wheel to the right creating a safety hazard. At the same time all of my dashboard lights flashed on and off. I have a toyota rav4 2015. There have been a recall for this description but not on my vin.

The car wants to pull to the right when accelerating or,just releasing the brake to coast.toyota dealer and toyota said it is normal.i never had a front wheel drive car do this.i believe this is a safety issue, because it does not happel all the time.the front end is aligned correctly.

Cpsc:the wiring on the underside of my 2015 toyota rav4 that controls information sent to the transmission was chewed through by squirrels. The car was located in my driveway. It came to my attention that wrappings around these wires are no longer rubber.

The armrest above the center compartment between the driver and passenger has a light resistance to pressure. I was drive with my right arm resting on this and my wife needed to adjust her position in her seat. She leaned on the armrest and the armrest went sliding to the front and startled me. I had a 2014 avalon that had the same type armrest and never had a problem. The dealer looked at this and said all the rav4's are like this and they couldn't do anything. The indents for the front and back of the armrest should be stronger and not so temperamental. There should be a product improvement bulletin to correct this problem.

The roof's color is peeling off.

I had a very dangerous experience with a 2015 toyotarv4 xle. I was going up an exit ramp slowly with the traffic going and stopping when all of a sudden my right foot was stuck between the accelerator and the brake pedal. I could not retract my foot to brake, causing the vehicle to continuing going forward. I believe that there is a serious problem with this vehicle braking/acceleration due to the short space between and or the height of the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal.this issue has been documented by many other drivers that i have read about and i am sure this not new to the toyota company. I have been in touch with the toyota customer experience center and have filed a case number.

Lift gate strut is causing misalignment of the lift gate, so lift gate shifting and unable to open.

I have had this car for roughly 10 months. It was bought brand new. I have had to replace two windshields in that time. One was cracked in early october 2015 and replaced on november 7, 2015(lengthy due to replacement unavailability). The other happened on december 23,2015 and replaced on december 26,2015 both cracks were due to (what i consider) relatively small stone chips that happened while driving on interstate 90 near north east, pa. I have owned in excess of 15 vehicles in my 44 years of driving. I have never had to replace a windshield in any of the others (yes some repairs were done). I am questioning if the windshields in these cars are being manufactured to the same specifications as in the past and if not do they still meet the current safety standards.

The paint is peeling my 2015 blue rav, i have visited mark jacobsen toyota in durham nc.spoke to the body shop, they said this is the same issue they are seeing on the white cars that are being repainted per the letter on your website https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10170749-9999.pdf they said at this time toyota is not fixing my peeling paint because it isn't white.he suggested i call the national hotline, which i did and file a claim 21031900209 but they also said they are only fixing white peeling paint.i think them for their time and requested to speak to a supervisor- they have not called me back yet.

I was entering traffic from a stop sign and collided with a black car at night that did not have it's headlights on. Their air bag deployed, - mine did not. City of raleigh, nc. Streets.

Yesterday, while i was parked at a secure location the back glass of my 2015 toyota rav4 broke unexpectedly for no apparent reason. There appeared to be no point of impact and the glass appeared to have exploded outwards. There was nothing in the car that went through the window and there was nothing around the car that may have hit the window. Other thantwo small areas where the glass fell outward the window was shattered but together. However when i got in my car and moved it all the glass crumbled and fell into the truck area.

Car stalled so i pulled over. There was smoking under the hood. Within minutes it turned into a big fire. Fire department had to be called.

I took the car in for an oil change. When the technician opened the hood, he discovered that the striker for the hood latch had broken free of the factory welds that hold it in place, rendering the latch inoperable. While i have owned the car, there has been no damage or blows to the front end or hood. There are no marks or signs of damage at all. The striker has simply become detached from the hood. It appears that the factory welds just failed. I have no way of knowing when or how it happened.

The paint on the panel above the car has began to bubble up and tear off. The paint continues to come off. The paint began coming off in a chunk that was about 2' by 3'.

After being parked in carport overnight on a winter night in dec 2017, i drove only a couple of miles down the i-15 freeway in utah between spanish fork and springville no more than 60 mph when i heard a loud 'exploding sound' on thetop of my car outside and then 'tinkling' noises from the front of the roof area to the back of the car.it happened at 0900 on a cold sunday morning and the traffic was extremely light.the nearest vehicles to me were at least 10 car lengths ahead and behind me and there were no vehicles on either side of me.there was no visible road hazard and no ice falling from anywhere since we had had no winter weather of any kind so far that season.when i was able to stop and examine the damage, there was a giant hole in the middle of my moon/sun roof.it had mysteriously exploded with jagged edges jetting upwards with shards of shattered glass littering the top of my car and inside on the moon/sun roof slider inside.

I was entering traffic from a stop sign and collided with a black car at night time that did no have it's headlights on. City of raleigh, nc. Streets.

Takata recall. I would like more investigation regarding when a car is repair per specification and state law. How is that a company take control of the value and history of the car. But is not reported the correct way when the repair is done. Affecting the owner of the vehicle.

Loud buffeting wind noise and vibration when any rear window is partially lowered or open. Will diminish or go away if either front window is open partially or all the way. Vibrating droning noise is so loud you can hear nothing else. Noise increases with speed starting at about 20 mph and up. Design flaw or is a repair available? definitely a safety issue in my opinion. Nature of the vehicle? hope not.

Sight lines - again. No one under aprox. 5'9" can safely operate this vehicle. I (at 5'7") can not see the front of the vehicle or determine where the front wheels are because of the poor driver position. The real danger happens at night at unlighted intersections. Turns are missed because the driver can't determine where the front wheels are. I know this doesn't sound dangerous, but mark my words, there are going multiple accidentscaused by this vehicle's poor design.

The power liftgate of this model fails to open in cold weather. Difficult to open and close when utilizing the manual over-ride button.

Our moon roof has come loose from roof on two ocasions. Dealership has repaired twice at no charge to us, but no explanation as to why this is happening. The first indication both times was a rattle that slowly becomes worse.

From the drivers position the front of the vehicle can't be seen. I missed three corners at night because i can't determine where the front of the vehicle is and i will no longer drive it at night. I consider this to be a lethally dangerous design flaw and demand that the 2015 rav4 be removed from the roads until toyota redesigns the front hood, lights and dash areas so the driver can see where the front of the vehicle is.ps. I'm 5'7" tall and should be able to see the front of any vehicle i'm driving.

The car was being driven in philadelphia at a low speed when the engine caught fire. The fire quickly was out of control and destroyed most of the car, including the engine, dashboard, front seats, windshield, windows, front tires which exploded, and airbags.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving approximately 55 mph, the hood flew open and smashed the windshield. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the failure resulted from an improper welding of the hood striker plate, which caused the striker plate to fall off. The vehicle was taken to steve landers toyota (866-584-3934, located at 10825 colonel glenn rd, little rock, ar 72204) where the contact was informed to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that it was not a known issue. The contact was provided case number: 1910282935. The vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

While in motion the suspension makes lots of noise, it also feels very firm and you can feel the bumps on the road. It also makes creecking sounds on uneven roads. And while driving it makes the car feel unstable when on rough roads by losing some control.

My car 2015 rav4 toyota and my car running only 40,000 km and my car rear shocks to need to change.

The car slide to the right. Even after alightment, it cannot keep alignment. The car was alignment many times, but it just keep normal operation about 3-4 day. Then it pulling to right side againthe car also make loudsy noise when marking letf, right turn, increasing or decreasing speed and. The car pulling make it is hard to drive and stay normally in the lane especially on freeway.i took it to toyota dealer, and after do the diagnostic andthe technician told me, the low arm control has problem, it make car cannot keep alignment, and suggest me to replace both low arm control.

Steering wheel makes a strange noise when turning and the suspension seems to be off.

While on highway or city street at times the radio and panel lights flicker and the sound system goes off and will not return till i stop the vehicle and turn it off then once i start the engine the sound system will come on once again. Also at times the high beams will take a while to come on. The rear diir will not open in automatic must be hand forced. The rear suspension is as it does not exist

Driving down the interstate when there was a loud explosion.when we were able to stop, we saw that our sunroof had exploded.we were very lucky that the shade was closed on the window.there was nothing around us (vehicles, bridges, etc) to cause debris to hit the sunroof to cause the incident.this was an extremely scary thing that i have found out is not uncommon.

I have a mildew/mold smell coming from my air vents in the cabin every time i turn on my car air conditioning unit.started at 4000 miles.went to the dealerto resolve this issue however they would not be able to fix it.i'm not the only one who has this problem. Many ac mold/mildew issues were found in many rav4 forum.exposure to such smells and mold is extremely dangerous and can lead to sickness and other health related issues.toyota hit with class action with defective ac unit before.

Pulling into parking space the engine started to rev. Put car in reverse and car was put in hish speed reverse causing car to hit another vehicle.

Sunroof exploded while driving 45 mph on a one lane country road - no car was in front of me at the time.occurred at 11:00 am and outside temps were 43 degrees.

Myself, my daughter and my daughter's father were traveling southbound on interstate 89 towards burlington, vt.we heard an extremely loud bang.it sounded like an explosion or a gun shot.the sunroof had exploded, not from any debris or rock'just exploded.it was a terrifying experience.luckily we only got minor cuts from the glass.this happened on a busy highway.thankfully i maintained control of the car despite the explosion and pulled to the side of the highway.we could have been killed or killed someone else in another car.now i am finding out how often this type of thing happens and why is nothing being done about this.sunroofs need to be recalled.it is horrifying that this has not been addressed.in all honesty, this probably won't change until someone dies as a result of this.

The car started on fire as i waited for a parking space in a parking lot.

Sunroof spontenously busted while driving on the interstate.

Air conditioning smells like mold or mildew when turning it on all the time.

I would like you to consider the navigation system as a safety device.toyota sells vehicles with outdated maps and charges over $200 for upgrades, which dealers are reluctant to provide.i consider accurate maps a safety concern and i suggest that map updates should be provided on at least an annual basis at a nominal (,$25) fee.the garmin policy would be a benchmark.right now, my gps is useless; cannot be trusted, and may lead me astray as it is not current.tis is a safety item.

Rear hatch strut seized and broke causing rear hatch door to not close completely, remote and door release in car inoperable. I had my car serviced and advisor explained that water (from weather) caused rust and left strut broke.the right strut is corroded badly and recommended to replace as well.total cost would be 1386.00 included left strut part (427.00), right strut part (739.00) and about 200.00 in labor.i called toyota corporate for complains and they said that there was no recalls and their warranty was 3yr/3000 miles which did not apply to my situation.i called multiple toyota parts depts, some out of state to compare prices and they remained the same. One parts employee informed me that this part i needed to provide my vin number because these struts supply is sparse and they needed to supply local customers. I asked why there wasn't a recall and he agreed that there should be one.agreed that the design is poor and expectation to lubricate joints to prevent water damage ( which was not in any of my maintenance manuels.).i have the extended warranty when i purchased my new rav4 and advisor called and presented pictures, the claim was denied.

I notice warm air coming from the air vents even when i dont have the air on. It concerns me that it may be exhaust. I also have a 2014 corolla that does the same thing. You cant stand the warm air on semi warm days. You can feel the warm hair come through vents without the fan on. Its on going.

My car has 123,000 miles i take great care of it i just had to put a gear shift assembly in to the tune of 1100.00. My tires were not riding well and he found it

Whinning noise from rear of vehicle. Happens in all drive modes includingneutral

Unintended acceleration while in driveway which caused my car to careen into a wood shed and my husband's car in the driveway.

Numerous times over the last couple of months my cars eps light will come on after putting my car into reverse the car does not connect and goes into neutral instead causing the car to roll forward creating hazards because it happens on hills andflat areas. I then have to put my car into park, turn it off and restart the car to get the car to go into the correct gear. I have taken the car to toyota but they won?t do anything because my vin is not under recall. Starting in 2019 i started noticing flakes of paint in cracks of doorways and creases of the car. Last month a big piece of paint started coming off the top of my car in front of my sunroof.

Mice have chewed through the plastic screen over the fresh air intake and entered my rav 4, shredding everything in my glove box, shredding the cabin air filter and leaving feces and urine throughout the vehicle (seats, floor boards, closed compartment where spare tire is kept and other areas unknown/unable to see by me)dealer was contacted, rav was taken in and dealer was initially going to install a metal screen to prevent reentry by rodents-was quoted $185.upon the mechanic inspection, we were told that "per toyota guidelines" they could not/ would not install a barrier to prevent rodents from getting into the vehicle.this is a serious issue as mice carry hantavirus and both my husband and i could have been exposed to this terrible illness as rodent waste was made airborne without our knowledge of the infestation into the ventilating system.toyota should make the fresh air intake impenetrable by rodents.i did some research on the computer and find that others have experienced this disgusting problem.some dealers will install a screen and others will not.there should be some sort of solution to this problem.i have four other vehicles and none of them have any rodent infestation.

We were simply pulling out of our subdivision and the sunroof exploded.it was around 6pm and the temperature was about 28 degrees f.

Sunroof exploded.driving down paved highway.51 degrees outside.glass shattered.no rock or other object found inside the car. Washington state patrol on scene.

The roof rack that came with the rav4 states that each strut can hold 100lbs, but in the manual it states that it is 100 lbs total. I purchased some lumber and my roof rack failed on the return trip home. I believe it happened when i was driving on the highway. One side of each strut broke and dented the roof of my car. If the other side of the struts failed there would have been some devastation behind me as lumber and roof rack parts would have flown off behind me. I do not know the exact weight of the lumber, but based on the quantity i purchased i can assume it weighed around 110-120 lbs. If i knew that it couldn't handle 200lbs like i was led to believe, i would have easily put one board or all of them in the car instead of the roof rack. I would also assume that toyota would have some sort of factor of safety on the struts. Also the side of the struts that didn't fail i assume had an increased load applied to them. This would make me think that there could be a problem in their molding process as well. The picture shows that each one says that it can take 100lbs evenly distributed. My point if my tire says 40psi max then i don't fill it to 10psi because there are 4 of them. The struts are also separate pieces, what if i mixed and matched or only had one on the car. Also these struts are sold with the rav4 model i got and not purchased as aftermarket or as an add on item.

We purchased a toyota rav4 with a 100% o.k.

Two doors (front driver and passenger side doors) no long lock and unlock using the key fob or the automatic buttons on the driver side door. According to our mechanic, this is a known issue (the lock actuator) with toyotas, especially suvs around 2015 like rav4s and highlanders. On a couple of occasions, the door lock itself got stuck and i had to fiddle with it simple to open the door manually. Surprised this hasn't been recalled since it has the potential for a safety hazard. Cost to repair each door's actuator (by mechanic) is over $500.

When using air conditioning mold accumulates on the condenser due to water not drying out and that mold/mildew is then blown thru vents when turning air conditioning on and i am inhaling toxic mold. Toyota is aware they've had thousands of internet complaints and at deal on hvac and refuse to call it a defect despite the health hazard effect. Apparently camry has class action law suit started re: this. I fear for my health with this and others in my car smell this as well. This has been ongoing problem since i purchased car and bcd and forth to dealer.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving 20 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While the contact's foot was deperessing the brake pedal and the vehicle was in drive, it accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed, but the contact was not given an explanation for the failure. The contact stated that the failure occurred only once. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While merging into the right lane, the vehicle independently veered left and accelerated when the brake pedal was depressed. The driver drove off the road and the vehicle rolled twice down a short incline. Both the driver and passenger air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The driver and front passenger sustained bruises and scratches to their elbows. The rear passenger suffered a concussion, which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The car significantly accelerates when backing out of the garage. Whenstopped for a red light it is eager to go if the brakes are not depressed very firmly and between 20 and 40 miles per hour it shifts into a higher gear with unintended acceleration.it has also done this when once going up a hill at 39 miles per hour.it feels dangerous to me when i am approaching a stop sign and it chooses to accelerates unless i am braking long before the sign.the can was examined by the deaqlership 2 times and "nothing was found".i then contacted someone in toyota's colorado administrative office.this person took a computer apparatus attached it to my car, we test drove it around and theydetermined it does automatically shift into 5th gear during these acceleration times. The car feels unsafe and will sooner or later be the cause of an accident.

While slowly pulling into owners garage, vehicle suddenly accelerated with high whining sound. Vehicle crashed into garage wall at high rate of speed. Front end completely destroyed, doors do not open, radiator leaking and garage cabinet destroyed. Insurance company notified. Air bag did not deploy. Vehicle has 31,300 miles.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While entering an on-ramp, the contact's vehicle unexpectedly accelerated and crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver side fender and panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were unknown.

Tla* the contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving approximately 2 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the engine revved. The vehicle unintentionally accelerated and came to a stop after the gear was shifted into park. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,200. Updated 11/04/15*lj; 03/19/18 jb*05/15/18

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. When the contact started the vehicle and attempted to drive forward, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the front passenger tire of a parked and unoccupied vehicle. Afterwards, the engine rpms increased and the vehicle continued to rev even though the contact was depressing the brake pedal with both feet. The contact stated that the vehicle proceeded to move backwards while the brake pedal was still depressed. The passenger was able to reach the gear shift and place it in the park position to stop the vehicle. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 40,000.

I was pulling in a parking space at the back of the building in which i worked. I turned right into my space going about idle speed.i took my foot off the brake to move into the space when it took off and went into the building.i missed the sensor by a quarter of an inch and the air bags did not deplore.i had the black box read by toyota and then they never called me back to explain the "book" of papers that gave all sorts of information which i really don't understand.after about two or three months it happened again when my husband was driving and came to a four way stop on a city street.when it let up off the brake the car took off and since he had about a half mile of streethe let it go.it took him at 40 mph for the whole way.he had trouble when he hit the brake to make it stop.he had to pump them several times.this car had done this 7 or 8 times to us.we talked to the dealership and because it was leased they couldn't help.so we have kept the car and i drive itwith my hand on the gear shift and when pulling into parking spaces i keep my foot on the break and sometimes put it into neutral.i feel this car is very defective.toyota has read the black box twice and never got back to us to explain if they know why this does this the crash caused 8000 to the car and 16000 to the buildng

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving less than 5 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a building. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and two passengers sustained minor injuries, which required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to express towing's facility. A police report was filed. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

While driving at normal posted speed the sunroof in our 2015 exploded for reasons unknown causing a huge hole in the sunroof and the rest of the sunroof glass to crack as well. Nothing appeared to hit the sunroof and there was vehicle in front of us when this occurred. The glass seemed to explode outwards as if a manufacturing defect or some type of pressure.

Sunroof exploded.driving down paved highway.51 degrees outside.glass shattered.no rock or other object found inside the car. Washington state patrol on scene.

I filled the wiper fluid and in 24 hours without touching the ignition or turning on the wipers or fluid to spray, overnight in 24 hours the neck (top) portion of the wiper fluid was empty.the car was not touched. I am trying to get a super analysis/explanation and replacement.

The contact owns a 2015 toyota rav4. While driving 65 mph, the sun roof of the vehicle shattered without warning. The contact heard a loud popping noise prior to the shattering of the sun roof. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 5,000.

Takata recall the sunroof on my toyota rav 4 exploded. It was a rainy day and i was driving home from work(redlands) on the freeway when i heard a loud bang. I pulled the shade to findmy sunroof had a huge hole right in the middle. No glass came down but it look like it exploded from the inside. Toyota would notcover the damages. I believe this to be a manufacturer defect that will cost me $1000. Something needs to be done because this could be a huge safety issue.
