The contact owns a 2014 toyota prius v. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the horn functioned intermittently. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the spiral cable assembly and clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000.

'takata recall ' i believe there is a major problem with toyota prius v they make it only for five years, they stop making it after 2016 because they realize there is so much problems in the engine, many car this model the engine get in fires, head gasket had to be replaced at 125,000 mile. Hybrid battery it go bad at 120,000 miles where is most prius hybrid battery go for 250,000 mile minimum. My prius be in gin ga on fire because there is a piece of metal from the engine fell down in the engin block and the engine break down with a big hole and most of the engine oil came down in to the muffler and my car got on fire. And that's happened i was driving on the freeway and there is no check engine light came on as a warning when that piece of metal from the valve lifter i believe fill down in to the block.

Vermin attracted to eco-friendly high-voltage wiring sheath located in engine compartment. Vermin chewed through sheathing and exposed bare high-voltage electrical cable.vehicle parked and secured when event occurred.

Mice invading inside of car and air conditioning systems.destroying interior and air filtration system.can spread disease including hantavirus with droppings.i think this is due to using soy based wire coverings that attrach rodents.can also affect wiring inside the car.

After parked for 20 minutes, the car is dead, had to jump start. Battery was replaced by the dealer, but the issue was not taking care of. At least 3 more times since the battery replacement, i found my car was again ded after parking, can not even open the door with remote. But all 3 times the car was able to power on after a few minutes on it's own while waiting for tow... Above that, the clock, trip odometer and temp settings were resetting on random times since 650 miles, as well as the radio which will turn on and off at random. Dealer replaced the radio but it still does the same. I was told that they (dealer) can't tell anything wrong with the car, and can't do anything about it, unless it's dead while it's in their shop, even after i showed them the photos and videos of the issues.

Unknown. I was basically driving on the freeway, when my car's engine suddenly stopped running. The car was automatically put into neutral and was not able to control the speed of the car, so i had to move to the side of the freeway. As i was sitting in the car, i started smelling burned wire and interior started to fill with smoke. I immediately turned the car off and got oit. As i was standing far away from the vehicle, fluid started leaking and it had caught into fire. The front bumper was completely burned off, as well as some of the engine and electrical parts were affected as well.

Power steering hard to drive, check engine light, abs, a little car light , storing red light ,

Rattle type of noise can hear and feel from driver's side in front suspension area while driving lower speed and when push brake and stop .most of noise happened when push brake to stop and slowly start driving / moving vehicle again .thought noise is from suspension but after being full inspection on vehicle ,mechanics believe it's noise from " hybrid system power inverter ".search recall states on nhsta web and found recall is " incomplete " .so am planing to bring it and ask at toyota dealer in culver city ca where i originally purchased vehicle for repair / replace inverter .it supposed to be perform as free of service .

I have 2014 prius v and the car was working fine with no problem at all.i got a recall from toyota that my car needs software update as a remedyfor manufacturing problem.i took my prius to toyota dealer in new york city to perform the recall.the recall was done and the car problems started.the car was overheating now so i took it to a mechanic to find why,the mechanic said it was the water pump and changed it but the overheating was still there but was reduced.later, the car was shaking badly at 15-20 mph speed. I took it to the mechanic to check what's the problem, the mechanic shocked me with the news that the engine needs to be replaced because it is defective inside because ofoverheating of the car.now i do not know what to do because i need a lot of money for the engine replacement.all my car problems have started after the recall done.thank you

The head gasket in the engine failed at 120000 miles and whenstarting the car in the morning the whole car shook and shuddered. The same problem happened to my friends car a 2015 model at 70000 miles so i think this is a faulty gasket toyota has used in all its prius v model cars from 2013 to 2016 years therefore there should be a recall of these cars which toyota should fix without charge. I spent $3985 to fix the problem.

At least 3 more times since the battery replacement, i found my car was again ded after parking, can not even open the door with remote. I am the first owner of this vehicle it has about 110k miles recently the started to shake when i start it in the morning or when parked for a while it started to show the check engine light some time it goes away on its own so i figured i will do 100k service changed the spark plugs oil filter etc. The shaking went away but after 1k miles the symptom came back with service engine soon and check engine when i scan it the code read p0301 i have also noticed the coolant is low went toyota pickedup a coolant and added about a quart then the problem still persisted when i went online for an answer i was surprised by what i discovered most of the cars with the same problem needed an new or rebuild engine as long time toyota fan owned many different ones i was baffled by this problem i need help. As i learned online this problem affects most of gen 3 prius at this point i don't know what to do except ask toyota for repair or replacement of the engine as i just finished paying for it. The problem happens only when the engine is running at stop or driven at low speed i have also notice the average gas mileage suffers. When the car is accelerating the problem seems be unnoticeable.

Was driving at approx 20mph on a side road when the car completely lost power and went dead. All the dashboard warning lights lit up at the same time. Lost steering control (the steering wheel became very heavy and was unable to steer). Managed to coast to a stop a 100 feet away (since the car had absolutely no power). Turned off the power button, turned it back on and the car started running again. Took it to the dealer the next day. They ran diagnostics, found codes (listed below) which suggested that the smart key lost communication with the car. They kept the car for an extra day, ran the diags overnight just to see if they can reproduce but, was told that they were not able to reproduce the problem. No idea what may have caused the issue. The smart key was sitting on the center console. Below are the smart key related codes that were recorded:u0100 - lost communication with ecm/pcm "a"u0142 - lost communication with body control module "b"u0155 - lost communication with instrument panel cluster (ipc) control moduleu0293 - lost communication with hybrid vehicle control systemplease help investigate this as this is potentially a very serious issue. By god's grace, there was no other vehicle on the road, was going at a low speed and thank god, this did not happen on a highway at highway speed. Thanks.

The head gasket in the engine failed at 200kmiles and when starting the car in the morning the whole car hook and shuddered. The same problem happened to all my other prius v models at approximately 200k miles so i think this is a faulty gasket toyota has used in all its prius v model cars from 2012 to 2016 years therefore there should be a recall of these cars which toyota should fix without charge. I spent more than $4000 to fix the problem in each car. I have 21 prius v cabs at the moment most have already had the head gasket changed and thought i"m done with this problem and toyota should take the blame for this right now. I spent $30k to buy this car and after 2 years for it to fail on me that's messed up. Even though it's a commercial vehiclethat still shouldn't be the problem.

After about 6 months a/c and cabin fan system smelled moldy, mildewy and very musty. Toyota service dept said all new models have the problem (!) and told me to just try to run the fan without a/c.problem did not go away!at my 12 month check, i reported air quality moldly/mildew persists, and service rep reported that all new 2014 models do have the moldy/mildew cabin air quality problem and told me to always run the a/c and fan system with "outside air" coming in totry to clean it out.problem did not go away.i looked online at "toyotanation.com" forum and note that long term toyota owners, who now have new 2014 models, are experiencing the problem for the 1st time!musty/mildewy/ moldy cabin air is definitely a health hazard, and toyota should fix it or at least offer routine a/c and air system flushing service. Instead toyota service depts now have a charge of $175 to flush the very bad air quality in the new 2014 systems that they created!one person said he filed a complaint with nhtsa. I tried the same thing with an email on the nhtsa site.now i am filing a more formal complaint. Hope this works!pls help. It is making me sick.

The car would not accelerate as expected.it behaved as if the fuel injector was not working properly.we were not able to keep a consistent speed and the motor started to have a rough idle sound.the hybrid system stopped working, the icon of the batteries turned purple and would not recharge when stopping.we took it into the dealership, the service personthey said it was a software and emissions miss-fire issue.it will take a part to be replaced and software updated.toyota sent out a memo to them stating this might happen and this is how to fix it.it seems since they are warning service staff to be aware of this that maybe they should take care of it before it happens and not have me pay over $900 and the stress of it happening on the freeway and then having me get it fixed.

Toyota issued safety recalls e0e and f0r for the failure of the hybrid inverter. If the inverter had not failed yet, the toyota's remedy is a 'software re-flash'. The software reflash 'remedy' is not sufficient.there have been an excessive number of inverter failures after the software re-flash 'remedy' for these recalls has been completed. This is very dangerous to drivers, as it leads to unintended deceleration ' the prius spontaneously entering 'limp-home mode' or even a 'hybrid system shut down'. This is dangerous as in results in drastic reductions, if not the complete loss, of power. These unintended deceleration occurrences predominantly happen while the vehicles are in motion ' many times at high speeds. Between only two dealerships, we have documented approximately 100 inverter failures after the e0e and f0r software reflash 'remedy' has been completed. During one inverter failure, which took place after receiving the e0e software re-flash, excessive heat was generated within the inverter that melted steel bolts and created an electrical arc that blasted two holes through the aluminum case of the inverter assembly. The driver stated if she had experienced this failure while on the freeway, 'she wouldn't be here anymore.' the vehicle was a 2012 model year and at the time of the failure it had only 31,222 miles on it. Instances of unintended deceleration will continue to grow daily until toyota implements a sufficient remedy that will prevent these losses of power from occurring. Attached please find a report detailing, for only two dealerships, the inverter failures we've experienced after the e0e and f0r software re-flash remedies have been completed. Also attached, please find the photographs of the inverter which experienced the electrical arc. Please consider that "date this happened" as the filing date of this report.

The contact owns a 2014 toyota prius v. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle made abnormal noises and began to stall. All the warning indicators flashed on the instrument panel. The contact's wife pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The contact drove to fred anderson toyota of columbia (2136 sunset blvd, west columbia, sc 29169, 803-223-7265) where it was diagnosed that the hybrid module failed and would cost $2,000 to repair. The contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 18v684000 (hybrid propulsion system) on the 2010-2013 models. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in the recall. The contact was informed to contact nhtsa for further assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 148,000. *dt *tpconsumer stated i was able to get some info from the mechanic at toyota dealership: his exact words were that the whole converter module failed - fault code for electric failure, t0a94. I've also attached the repair sheet from the dealership.*dt*tp

When driving at 30 mph, car has vibration..took back to dealership. Brand new car, had to put 4 brand new tires on it. Could not get it to balance..after two new tires..after all new tires balances..alignment ok. Couldn't figure it out, because it still had the vibration. Talked to higher mechanics @ toyota via phone said "nature of the car".before and after the 30 mph it smooths out and no vibration.

I experienced sudden but momentary braking when traveling at high speed (> 50 mph) while either entering ro exiting hwy. This occurred twice in last two mons. I drove my car to closest dealership the 2nd time this happened (nov. 21, 2105; waldorf md toyota), who told me they received an email (but no recall) from toyota corporate about this issue. Dealership could not detect the problem or reproduce it so, as instructed by dealership, i called toyota corporate nov. 23, 2015 to get case number assigned. At one point, toyota representative demanded "what do you want from toyota?" case was 'escalated' but no case worker was assigned until nov. 30, 2015.toyota corporate stated that the technician had to reproduce the problem and if they cannot, there was no problem and dealership would return my car to me without repair. The dealership protested and said they ot required to reproduce the problem as it was an episodic and rare event. Further, they would not return my car to me until the problem was fixed because it was a safety issue.waldorf toyota still has my car (over two weeks now as today is dec. 9, 2015). They have not received any further guidance but are waiting for the field technical specialist to examine the car.i finally received a call from customer relations at the regional office (central atlantic toyota) to authorize access to the edr (electronic data recorder). This means over two weeks have passed before even the first step was taken by toyota to diagnose the problem.

We were in stop and go traffic on the highway for just over a half hour with my two young children in the car. Speeds below 10 miles per hour. At the time of incident, we were traveling between 5-7 mph. Tried coming to a stop with about 10 feet between our car and a big rig in front. The brakes wouldn't egange. Repeatedly stomped on the brake pedal between 5 to 10 times. Car break would not engage and we rolled into big rig bumper. This gave us a chance to power down the car with the push/start button.

Power steering hard to drive, check engine light, abs, a little car light , storing red light ,

Did an oil change to the car on 9/14/18. Driving to key largo saturday 9/15/18 morning and while driving (almost there) when the abs, anti skid, system failure lights came on. Took it to the toyota and the service manager had it scanned for the codes. Came back as brake actuator failure and they told me the car was not safe to drive because the brakes failed. Same exact thing that happened to my 2012 prius which i had to pay to get fixed. This time i was told by the assistant service manager that toyota seems to be aware there's an issue so they would probably cover the cost of the part $3500 but i'm responsible for the labor which they quoted at $1500!!! something is clearly wrong. I don't think i should have been responsible for the money paid to get the 2012 fixed nor should i have to pay for the 2014 now. My car is at the toyota until i can come up with the money...sounds like a class action lawsuit !! also, interestingly enough, both my 2012 and 2014 were roughly at the same mileage when this part failed.

The contact owns a 2014 toyota prius v. While driving approximately 20 mph and approaching a stop, the brake pedal pressure released when the pedal was depressed. The vehicle surged forward. The contact had to release and reapply the brakes in order to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred at least twelve other times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000. The consumer stated the failure moreso relates to a braking failure rather than sudden unintended acceleration. The "surge" that was felt was releasing of the brakes and an abrupt halting of the driver's commanded deceleration. The brake pedal had to be depressed to the floor or released entirely and depressed again.

The brakes failed while i was driving.i had received a "voluntary customer support program" notice several months before this happened.i called the dealership right away and they told me not to worry about it and to put the notice in my owners manual. After the brakes failed, i had it towed in to the dealership and they determined that it was an issue that would be paid for by toyota.now my car has been in the dealership for almost 2 months and the part is still not available.they have no estimated time to expect the part.i have a loaner, which they would not give me at first until i complained to the toyota customer service number.my loaner is a large suv, which is a gas guzzler and is much bigger than i am used to.i just want my old prius v back.repaired.

2014 toyota prius. Consumer writes in regards to defective caliper replacement. *ld

Yokohama avid envigor 215/50/r17 tread separation: rear driver side tire developed a crack on the inside of the tire. Tires have 18,000 miles on them. Installed 12/27/2017. Crack resulted in air loss triggering the tpms system. Discovered while driving on city street. Removed wheel and inspected vigorously before finding said crack. Contacted yokohama and gave them opportunity to take responsibility for the defect, sent them picture of crack but they refused to do anything about it, claiming it's a road hazard damage. When a tire cracks, this indicates weak tread and delamination of the tire layers (tread separation). Spent a week communicating with them (yokohama) to no avail. They adamantly refused to take responsibility.

The check engine light came on 11 months after it had previously come on and supposedly fixed (april 2017). Now i am told it is an evap problem again ( evap pump and purge flow valve weakness). The recommendation is replacement. A internet search revealed that this same problem in australia caused a recall.this is a $950.00 replacement and my vehicle has only 57700 miles. This is shameful.

Since the vehicle was purchased, the odometer has been off by about 2 miles per hour at 65, and 3-4 miles per hour at 95. This means that the oboe get is recording 4% higher mileage than what is actually being driven. My car is not alone, many prius v models have the same problem. Dealership did not have a solution. This not only voided my 100,000 mile warranty 3-4k miles early, but it makes the fuel economy look better on paper than it actually is- a selling point that toyota takes advantage of. To me, this is just as bad as what volkswagen did with their diesel vehicles.

Inquired re law suit related to inverter failure and recall.learned my warranty was extended to cover possible failure of inverter.no repair was made.other party contends part failure is dangerous.toyota says it is rare and car will limp home.i say extended warranty is insufficient reaction and portends dangerous failure.i say fix the inverted.my inverter has not yet failed. Power drop in traffic is dangerous.

Privusv dimming rear view mirror. The mirror does not dim properly. The sensors seem to be in a location that the majority of the time does not pick up the lighting from the car behind. This is extremely distracting to the driver. I had the mirror replaced bot it had no effect on fixing the problem.

The contact owns a 2014 toyota prius v. While driving into the driveway at 5 mph with the brake pedal depressed when the vehicle lunged forward and crashed into the garage door. As a result, there was property damage and the front end of the vehicle was damaged. The failure occurred without warning. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was in the process of being repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Thanks.

Halfway through parallel parking, right rear of car by curb, foot lightly on brake, was about to shift to d and was looking around for any pedestrians short-cutting in front of car before shifting, when car accelerated, not stopping in spite of brake, until smashing into tree.(i was thrown around but no one else was hurt, luckily)

Tread tire separation on all four oem toyo tires. Required tire replacement.
