I own a 94 toyota 4runner and a 94 toyota sr5 pickup truck. Back in '98 i received a recall notice i brought both my vehicles to fred anderson toyota in response to the recall. They replaced the head gaskets on both vehicles. Recall notice: a 3vz-e head gasket replacement june 26, 1998 vehicle: toyota truck 4x4 mileage: 46,623 july 17, 1998 vehicle: toyota 4runner mileage: 38,037 the beginning of february 2006 of this year, my toyota pickup truck blew a head gasket when i cranked it up one afternoon. Dense smoke and radiator fluid flowed from the tailpipe and the engine was vibrating.less than 12 hours after the head gasket blew in my pickup truck, the very next morning i started my wife's 4runner to make a trip into town. Immediately when i started it, dense smoke and radiator fluid flowed from the tailpipe and the engine was vibrating even worst than before. I immediately turn the truck off. Toyota opened a case# 200602060829. I was told they would call chan coleman at sanford toyota and try to get a special price. I called chan and was told i would need to speak with someone in his service department. He transferred me to service and was quoted a price of $1,600 per vehicle to repair. I had both vehicles towed and repaired by a local repair shop. Below are the dates and mileage for the repairs. February 16, 2006 vehicle: toyota truck 4x4 mileage: 120,000 february 4, 2006 vehicle: toyota 4runner mileage: 102,000 i was told by the mechanic at the local repair shop that the reason the head gaskets were blowing was because of a casting design flaw with the engine heads and not the head gaskets. The heads had dimples which over time would cause the head gasket to blow. The heads on both my vehicles had to be resurfaced to remove the dimples. I called toyota with this information but was told they show both my vehicles were fixed in accordance to the recall and it is a one time fix only and the owner needs to take responsibility at some point.

Truck over heated and initial diagnostic stated: new water pump, cracked head, rebuilt engine. Timing chain cover was replaced, water pump replaced, and head resurfaced. Upon hearing a loud rattling noise from the engine on freeway, was advised to drive 300+ miles home with it and to call if it was still there in a few days. Took to another toyota dealer who has found that crankshaft needs to be smoothed and new bearings are needed (so far...).possibly more lower portion engine problems-cylinder head, pistons... Recommended rebuild engine... *****-dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis***** 758008.

I had the head gaskets replaced at 90,000 due to a recall issued by toyota.i am now at 115,000 and the head gasket needs to replaced already.i have the car at a toyota dealership and he said that he contacted toyota and they said that i already had the recall fixed.however he did mention to me that another customer has the same problem where he recently had the head gaskets replaced due to the recall and is having his head gasket replaced after 15,000 miles.the dealership said that at this time toyota is not aware of any issues but if they do then i can be reimbursed at a later point but that there were no guarantees.i find it hard to believe that the initial work that was done during the recall was done properly since head gaskets dont typically go bad after 25,000 miles.

Head gasket blewout and did some damage to the block.we were unaware of recall on head gaskets.

Seat belts will no longer retract making them unusable

Driver's/passenger's seat belts do not extend far enough to accommodate large passengers.

I have owned 6 toyota trucks from 1985 thru 1997 and they all have had seat belt problems.they do not retract all the way and hang out the door and you have to manually retract them back in.this has been a long time know event and in the past toyota has replaced them at no charge.however, when i called customer care and then took it to a toyota dealership in wesley chaple fl.both the manufacture and the dealer said "sorry you have to pay for it. I am very upset since my seat belts have now since frayed from being caught in the door and am afraid to drive the vehicle on highways. I use to be a mechanic for toyota and know for a fact they have havehad many issues with seatbelt concerns and problems in the past. I would hope someone can investigate this complaint and resolve this serious issue.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The drivers side seat belt stopped retracting.the passenger side gets stuck sometimes and won't pull out. The driver's side stopped working while i was in a parking lot, getting ready to leave.

Seat belt strap too short for use.

Seat belt will not retract.

My cousin was involved in a crash on may 4th of 1997, in which him and the driver of a 1994 toyota pick were ejected and killed.i took pictures of the truck just a few days after the wreck.the police report and the newspaper reported that neither were wearing seat belts, however according to the photos taking of the truck i see that the passenger seat belt was completely tore out of the side wall of the truck where the brass hex bolt holds it to the inside wall of the cab.i must have missed this back in 1997 and just recently noticed that my cousin was wearing his seat belt however the seat belt had to of given away and broke free from the cab wall therefore ejecting him from the truck.i can say that the photos are disturbing to see that the seat belt was broke away like.i am in the process of obtaining the pictures from my cousins mother at this time.i hope that something can be researched and tested or even the pictures be looked at and i would like a report about this matter if that's at all possible.i want to make sure that no one else is subjected to a failure in there seat belt if in fact that's what happened in this case.thank you tommy hill.

I own a 1994 toyota pickup with only 47,000 miles and the frame as significant rust perforation to the frame of the vehicle.this is the same type of rust perforation that the toyota tacoma's are experiencing which has resulted in toyota buying back all 1995 to 2000 toyota tacoma's as they were deemed unsafe to drive by toyota.when i contacted toyota about my vehicle they said that they were not including the 1994's in their buyback program even though it was the same problem as the tacoma's.please see similar complaint #10236880 filed by another 1994 toyota pickup owner.there are stories on the web that these vehicles are actually splitting in half due to the significant amount of rust perforation to the frame.i believe this should be a safety recall before someone is seriously injured or killed.

I own a 1994 toyota pickup, 96k miles, frame has rusted completely through making vehicle unable to be driven, or even pass state inspection. Appears to be the same problem that toyota has announced for 1995 and up vehicles, but they will not apply to a 1994 pickup.

I have read there are hundreds of people having the same problems with the 1994 toyota short bed pick up truck, 4wd, having extreme rusting to the frame. Yet they will only buy back the 1995-2000 models? how can they think that they did something right in 94 that they didn't do in 95, and nothing can be done about this? no one can change this to include the 1994s? my husband's truck doesn't even sit level from all the rust underneath. He is a welder and can't even fix it. Something needs to be done about this by toyota. Everyone i know who has contacted toyota said they are out of luck due to the buy back/recall being 1995 and newer models. Help!

1994 toyota pick up has dramatic and unusual frame rot. I was informed the entire frame has just rusted and rotted. The truck had good care parked in a garage, washed often including the undercarriage. The mechanic said the rust was very unusual. It is now a safety issue. The tuck is otherwise in very good condition.

Front end suspension causing excessive tire wear.

At reduced speed vehicle pulled severely to the drivers side. Causing loss of control/accident. Tt

Owner of 2 1994 toyota pickups, was driving home from work in one of them and by the time i got home, the front passenger wheel was almost ready to fall in....decided to see what i needed to do to repair it and discovered that the upper control arm had completely rusted into, i realized i was lucky i made it home without getting hurt. I decided to look and see if i could use the one from my other truck that i no longer drove, considering after days of searching, that buying a new one was not an option. Low and behold it was just as bad. It is a miracle that i hadn't been involved in a bad accident on my two hour one-way drive to work everyday for the past two years. Used upper control arms are the only thing i can find, but i don't know if it is safe to even use a used one.

Front end bounces uncontrolably in rough pavemen/front suspension cannot properly support weight of vehicle.
