Toyota is recalling several models including mine for a defective passenger side airbag. Apparently metal can burst through the airbag if it is deployed causing injury or death. They sent me a letter stating they are working on getting the parts for repair but don't know when that may be. They suggested that nobody ride in the front passenger seat until it can be fixed by an undetermined date. Not a satisfactory solution in my opinion.

Toyota has not rectified the airbag issue in a timely manner.i received an "interim notice" from toyota regarding the recall of airbags on my car 8/10/2015.the status of my car according to toyota remains "interim" and as such they are not able to replace the airbag.however, in said letter toyota stated that, "until the remedy becomes available in your location, we recommend that you do not operate the vehicle with an occupant in the front passenger seat."in other words, you cannot fully use your car and to date, we cannot fix it.

There is a recall on my car-sent in may 2015.have been trying to get info. On when these parts would be in to be fixed. Passenger airbag. Called my dealership, toyota hq, chat with tvsh and am getting nowhere. This is a huge inconvenience. Want info. On when this will be fixed.it is almost november. Contact me at [xxx] thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Was stopped at light and was rear ended by one that rear ended the other car. Air bag did not come out only seat belt pulled tight. Now have message air bag is off. Damage to car is over $3,000.*ln

Initially the car would fail to accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed down.even when the gas pedal was pressed down completely the car only went 5 miles per hour.this happened on several occassions.when the car was taken to the dealer the whole "panel board" was replaced.the car was still under warranty and the repair was paid for by toyota. Then on 2/2/08 the car accelerated on its own, only stopping when it hit a chain link fence.an insurance claim and police report were filed.additionally the horn was not working and the air bag did not deploy in the accident.the serviceman at the toyota dealer advised the air bag was defective and toyota paid for the repair of the airbag. This accident caused my insurance rate to increase.also the accidentnegatively impacts my son's driving record as he was the driver.

Was driving 45 mph on the highway and rear-ended a truck.my airbag did not deploy and resulted in a badly sprained shoulder and other contusions.i am in a great deal of pain and cannot work yet.i have missed 3 days of work and cannot return for at least another 4. This cost me pain, inconvenience, and income.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)2007 toyota matrix vin[xxx] sudden loss of power and rapid deceleration on interstate freeway when traveling at highway speed of approx 65 mph.taken to toyota dealership and they replaced the control module.the service technician said that it was a problem they described as a "hiccup" of the computer, and an issue which with they were familiar. In checking the government records and also those of toyota, this vehicle does not appear to be a part of any recall campaign.

The computer of my 2007 toyota matrix suddenly died while i was on the highway and i was forced to maneuver to the side of the road.i was lucky that i was able to pull over without an accident.

I am requesting that dot nhtsa investigate the electronic acceleration system and/or the ecm causing sudden unintended acceleration of my 2007 toyota matrix.on 9/18/2010 my son was driving my 2007 toyota matrix. He was pulling into a parking space in front of a store & was almost completely stopped when, even though he had his foot off the accelerator & on the brake, the car began to accelerate on it's own. He then pushed harder on the brake & turned the wheel & the vehicle continued to accelerate. The vehicle ended up crashing into the glass window of the store, to the right of the parking spot, coming to a stop with the front end inside the store. There was approximately 4 feet of sidewalk between the front of the parking space and the building and about a 2 inch raise in surface height. My wife later informed me that she had an unintended acceleration problem that same day while driving the same vehicle. She turned onto a street & was traveling at approximately 25 mph & approaching a slower moving vehicle in front of her. She then took her foot off the accelerator to coast. The vehicle continued to accelerate with her foot off the accelerator and without the accelerator pedal moving. It accelerated to about 50 mph when she then had to apply the brake & tap the accelerator several times to get the vehicle slowed to avoid hitting the vehicle ahead of her. I have contacted toyota & they are sending an engineering analysis company to inspect the vehicle. I was contacted by the company on 9/27/2010 to find out where the vehicle is & set up the investigation. The matrix is currently at the progressive collision center in clearwater fl. No work has been done to the vehicle, awaiting toyota inspection. Could you please investigate this incident.

Check engine light would come on and tach would jump all over- diagnostic tool read bank one low pressure.light would go off and on by itself.shortly after while driving on the highway car almost stalled and would only go around 20mph then corrected itself.this became a daily event - took car into dealer for service this spring they had to replace ecm - car had 55000 or so miles on it. Car now has 64000 miles on it and it is starting to do the same thing.

Sudden lose of power affecting steering and braking. When taken to the dealer i read the toyota service bulletin issued in sep 2007 that specifically stated that warranty repair only in the event a customer complains. Toyota has left many drivers of corollas and matrix with defective computer which causes lose of power which includes loss of power steering and braking at high speeds. This is dangerous especially on a turn or with an elderly driver. This should have been a recall and proactively repaired.

2007 toyota matrix.consumer states that vehicle stalled out while entering a highway. This issue almost caused her to be in an accident. She states that two days prior to the vehicle stalling out she was at the dealership getting maintenance work done and service of the engine due to it puttering.after 20 minutes of sitting, the consumer was able to restart the vehicle and drove it to the dealership. The consumer was charged an additional $1,197.28 after just having paid $ 606.94 for maintenance work. The consumer believed the stalling problem occurred because of something they dealer did when they first had the vehicle, or the problem was a part of a recall.

I was driving home from work when i noticed the door light was onthe display console in my car.i was at a red light and checked to see if my door was open, it wasn't, the door light remained on.i continued driving, but smelled plastic burning.i looked down, saw orange flickers and realized my car was on fire.the fire was burning in the drivers side dash, it was contained behind a small storage compartment.i tried desperately to put the fire out, threw water and left over soda on it, but i think i actually made it worse.i screeched into a gas station, put the fire out, and called 911.the fire department came out and said i did everything right.i am now having difficulty getting my car into a body shop.the insurance company i am with has yet to tow the vehicle and now i find it is costing me out of pocket expenses, due to my insurance not rolling over to cover a rental.i am extremely frustrated.i did call toyota, who said i could tow my car in, but the car is "no longer under warranty" per the service guy.i would like advice as to what to do.i am waiting for my insurance company to tow the car to a local bodyshop, but am extremely wary of having a car that has been on fire repaired.

While driving the car on the night of december 6th it suddenly stopped.i waited for a while, and the car started again; after a mile or so it stopped again.the car stopped a total of 4 times before i was able to get home.the next day i took it to a mechanic who indicated that it had a "recall" problem.i took the car on the 7th to the toyota dealership.on the 8th they confirmed that indeed was a "recall" problem and that they would probably will need to keep the car for two weeks, because they did not have the parts at hand to fix it.i had to rent and borrow a car in order to move around.toyota should have had the parts readily available and not keep the consumer suffer for their total lack of preparation.i did not get any correspondence from toyota in regards to this specific recall.

2007 matrix bought new, having stalling and puttering engine problems when it had only 67,000 miles on it and regular maintenance. Early april, 2010, car stalled out when i was entering on-ramp to freeway 15 in california. A car almost hit me in the rear as a result. Managed to get car over to shoulder, where it died. Couldn't restart it for 20 minutes. Got it to toyota dealership where i purchased it. Explained the weird stalling problem. They charged me $1,197.23 and only two days earlier had charged me $606.94 for a total of $1,804.22. I told them i thought it was something they had done; or part of the recall or a related safety issue of toyotas, but dealership wouldn't listen. Argued with me, poor customer service. I am now writing to toyota to request reimbursement, as i've seen articles (cnn time article dated 8/10/10, saying there have been thousands of complaints on 2007 matrixes for stalling problems. Toyota wouldn't even acknowledge this, and made me pay this outrageous amount.

There have been two instances of this problem.the first time, i was completely stopped just back of an intersection, after coming out of my employer's parking lot, preparing to make a right turn on a two lane urban thoroughfare, when all of a sudden i felt the engine rev and my car surge forward, although my foot was on the brake.i pressed hard on the brake to no avail; i thought i was going tobe propelled into the intersection into traffic.at the last moment, i managed to stop, i'm not sure now, if i applied the emergency brake or what, because although i relayed this incident to several people, including my brother-in-law, my aunt, and some coworkers, i later dismissed the incident as, other than what it was, possibly due to road conditions (a large building was being built alongside the road at the time). Today, however, while completely stopped waiting for the light to change in front of the exit from the lower parking lot this time, the same exact thing happened again:the engine suddlenly revved, and the car surged forward. I instinctively pressed on the brakes as hard as i could, but the car wouldn't stop until grabbed the gear shifter and put it in neutral.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota matrix. The contact stated received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 10v384000 (engine and engine cooling) september 2010. The believed that the estimated time of repairs had exceeded beyond a reasonable time frame. The current mileage was 60,000.

2nd time - anti-freeze... Gone! 2 checks performed, 2 different places, no leaks. Last summer, my ac went out (22k miles). Had it checked... Nothing wrong...woke up this morning to a puddle of sludge (a/f) in my driveway. This is the 1st time it's visible. Praying it's just the change from freezing weather to 50 degrees in a 24 hour span!

I have complained about the daytime running headlights in drive mode, i was told it was the new feature for this model. Can not switch lights until car is park mode, engine off. I have noticed when i had emergency brake on and started the engine, the lights where off until i released the brake and they came back on. There are times i need to have control to turn lights off at night that dont reflect on others while idling the car. It nice to have running lamps on for safety, but i should be able to turn them off when needed. Example: drive in theatre. Had this problem from the day i purchase my car.

2007 toyota matrix xr 30,306 miles.purchased new.took delivery of vehicle 12jun07.last week 20sep10 - fuel strap broken/fell off. Not rusted just gone. Rattling underneath vehicle is gas tank vibrating while driving, in park or idling.was told by toy dealership in watertown, ma that this would not be covered under warranty. Service tech stated that he had never seen this happen in a vehicle that was just 3 yrs old.

I own a 2007 toyota matrix that was experiencing unexplained surging and acceleration while at a stop and at idle.the engine would rev unexpectedly causing the car to lurch forward.this happened while sitting at a stop with my foot on the brake.i took the matrix to the dealer but they could not find what the problem was until the check engine light came on.the car finally go to a point where it would rev up by itself to as much as 4000 rpm.it finally got to a point where it was undrivable.i took the car to the dealer and after 2 days it was determined that the electronic throttle body was malfunctioning.the dealer is currently replacing the electronic throttle body at a cost of $1,350.i believe that this is a problem that effects more toyota models and years then what has currently been recalled.

Since i bought my toyota matrix 2007 every time i fill the gas tank no matter which gas station i use, the gas always spills all over from the gas tank. I thought i it was because i was doing something wrong. It was not until the car reached 50,000 miles last month that i contacted balise toyota in west springfield, maand bernadi toyota in framingham, ma where i bought the car to inform them of the problem.they said it was not their issue since the car is no more under warranty and that i had to pay 200 dollars to have the problem diagnosed and pay hundreds more to have the problem resolved.this is a serious safety hazards which should have been taken seriously by toyota and its dealers. I searched the internet and found out that there were hundreds if not thousands of complaints about the gas nozzle not stopping when the gas tank of the 2007 matrix is full.

In august 2007, i began to smell gas inside my car when driving my 2003 toyota matrix . The fuel pressure regulator had failed, causing the seals on the fuel injectors to fail.my service center replaced the fuel rail and injector seals.my understanding is that other matrixes have had similar problems, leading me to wonder whether this health and safety problem results from faulty design.

I have a 2007 toyota matrix and have 3 incidents of uncontrolled acceleration of over 70 mphand uncontrolled deceleration when going 35 to 60 mph in heavy traffic. I have been lucky enough to have avoided any accidents but last week came very close to hitting a tree. My car is not part of the recall. I have had trouble with my floor mats but this is not the problem with the accelerator. I tookthe car to the dealership and they said that there is nothing wrong with the accelerator. My local dealership refuses to fix it . They tell me that it is safe to drive even though cars are being recalled to have the accelerator fixed. The owner of the dealership has basically blown me off and says it is my problem. Since my car is on the recall list it won't be fixed. What can i do? do the 2010 toyota's have the same problems? i can't trade this car in for another brand car because of this problem.my car is in excellent shape and with only 24,500 miles. What can i do?

The fuel tank protector on my 2007 toyota matrix became loose.the fuel tank shield is retained by a screw into a plastic retainer mounted onto a tank strap.the plastic decays and the screw falls out.the fuel tank shield function is now compromised in its ability to protect the fuel tank from the heat of the exhaust pipe.

1. My car is 2007 toyota matrix, before my first accident i took my car twice to be inspected by the dealer shop at fitszgerald because i had two brake failures while riding to my house and both times they blamed on the floor mats, and the second they gave me a report saying that they were unable to find a failure on the brakes after inspecting it for 96mile drive, they found nothing and put on the report that the vehicle had no problems. I was driving on the highway during a high traffic, the vehicles in front of me slowed down, i stooped then when the vehicles in front started to move i let go of the breaks and suddenly the car went out of control and hit the car twice while i was pressing the breaks. 2 this happens not often, this happens when i put the car on park or i slow down, usually when i apply the breaks. I am afraid because they can't find anything wrong with it or that they refuse to help me. For this even my premium car insurance went 200%3 nothing can be done because they don't know what's wrong, i am at a loss because is difficult for me to find any help.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota matrix. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the spark plugs and coils needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

I brought my matrix to toyota of bellevue with concerns about the clutch and transmission shortly after its purchase.i was brushed off saying this is just how toyota's drive.well i guess they weren't lying about that because i am among many owners that have had their bearing in their transmission fail prematurely.i was going 65 miles an hour down the freeway when i lost control of my vehicle.i was lucky enough to be in the right lane and came safely to a stop but this could have easily ended badly for my passenger and i.to top it off my 7 year warranty i purchased was misleading.it was for 7 years from the first owner and even though i own a 2007 the warranty started in 2006.none of this was explained to me and in fact the writing from the dealer in the warranty guide shows my date of purchase as 2010 and subsequently reads as the warranty is valid until 2017 or 100,000 miles.my matrix is at 95,000 miles if i had not bought the warranty my car would be paid off.i'm now stuck with repair costs for a faulty part that should be recalled and i still owe on my car.we are a toyota family and i hope they own up to recall so i can continue to stay loyal to this company.

2007 toyota matrix. Consumer states problem with engine control module *tgwwhen the consumer received the recall notice, he immediately took the vehicle to the dealer. It was determined the ecu was faulty and it was replaced. The consumer stated he experienced shifting problems with the vehicle. The dealer informed him, the clutch had worn out prematurely.the consumer believed the faulty ecu may have been the reason for the worn out clutch.

I have a 2007 matrix . The drivers seat keeps lowering on its own. I crank it up 8 cranks. After 2 days of driving, it lowers 2 cranks. If i let it go, it will lower all the way down. The dealer replaced the seat lifter but that didn't help. The seat is lowering because the crank(lever) that raises and lowers the seat rubs against the seat cushion. After a short while (1 or 2 days of driving)it lowers because my weight on the cushion pushes the crank(lever) down. I am 195lbs.the dealer said there is nothing they can do. I have to place a wooden dowel under the crank(lever) to keep it from lowering.

I was stopped at a red light, on a flat street in the middle ofjanuary.the vehicle (2007 toyota matrix) was completely at rest."all of a sudden" the car started inching forward.my foot was firmly on the brake pedal.the engine did not rev.it started gaining speed.the light changed and we went through the light without any problems with the acceleration, brake or steering.i said to my friend, "that was weird."i thought it was a flux but then when i started reading about all of the problems with toyota i became concerned.i called our local dealer and he said that 2007 matrix were not part of the recall.he offered to drive the car around to see if there were any problems.i have not had any further problems and did not take it in for him to drive around.(i had them do a regular maintenance check when i first bought the car and theydid far more "maintenance" than was recommended in the manual and i think took advantage of my ignorance about car maintenance.it made me suspicious so i don't really trust the dealer. )

The contact owns a 2007 toyota matrix.while driving between 25 mph and 78 mph the power steering would fail. Also the accelerator pedal remains applied, even after application.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the technician was unable to remedy the failure.the regional mastertechsent by the manufacturer could not locate the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted again, but no assistance was provided. Thecurrent mileage was 26,000. Thefailure mileage was 2,000. The consumer stated whiled driving, she could no longer feel the tension in the steering that dictates the movement of the wheels. Updated evoq 05/27/10

In february 2015, within one week, three of the four exterior door handles have broken in half! is this happening to others? how do i get this repaired?

The contact owns a 2007 toyota matrix. While attempting to open the rear driver's door, the exterior door handle detached. The vehicle was taken to milton ruben auto group (3514 washington rd, augusta, ga 30907) where it was diagnosed that the handle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Several months later, while attempting to enter the vehicle, the front driver's door handle shattered, causing lacerations to the driver's hand. Medical attention was not received. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 130,000. The consumer stated the vehicle has been repaired.

I work out of a 2007 toyota matrix.the hatchback lid is used quite often.the lid has been going up slower and less high over the past few months.this week i opened the lid and the gas struts failed.i could have had my head taken off if i was leaning inside the vehicle.is it normal for the struts to fail so quickly?shouldn't there be a safety to keep it from falling on someone?my dealer said he never had this complaint before but i have a 2006 toyota sienna that had a recall of it's power gas struts due to premature failure.

I drive a 2007 toyota matrix.while driving down the road, something came loose and a loud rattle/banging was present.i drove to the nearest toyota dealership and left it there overnight.the gas tank strap was broken thus causing the fuel tank to hang down.the dealership alleges that i must've hit something for this to occur.i am the sole driver of this vehicle and i did not hit anything with this car.toyota would not cover this repair under warranty.i paid to have the part replaced.the dealership kept the old part.

I am greatly concerned about the fact that how toyota is handling manufacturing defects could lead to the injuries or deaths of its customers.we received information from toyota saying that the onboard computer for the car was defective and needed to be replaced. However, the company did nothing for months despite repeated phone calls. Toyota representatives on the phone initially provided no help in getting the problem resolved. We finally got permission to bring the car to a dealer for repair, which also had the engine light on (there can be many reasons for this, but they should be easily identified. I had to wait several hoursbecause the initial replacement was also defective (i believe the date was 6/8/11). As i drove away from the dealership, which was now closed, the engine light came back on. We had to bring back the car, and were told that the 02 sensor was defective. I have read on the internet (although i don't know the accuracy of this) that toyota has been putting defective o2 sensors in cars that don't last as long as they should (ours only has 42k). We then had to pay an independent mechanic with a much higher customer service rating than toyota dealers have to find out what is actually wrong with the car. The problem was confused by the fact that the onboard computer was not consistent or accurate. For days the engine light was on, for days it was off. These mechanics said that the toyota dealer made an error and did not clear the computer's history so any future problem could be easily identified. So they cleared the history and we had to bring the car back in a few days. They then replaced the apparently defective o2 sensor. We hope this is over but don't have great confidence. There have been many problems reported with the matrix. Edmunds.com reports that "a periodic problem with this vehicle is failure of the powertrain control."

On the morning of 12/16/2016, while in the parking garage where my wife works, she stopped to back into a parking spot and the car suddenly accelerated forward and would not respond to vigorous braking nor the emergency brake. The car hit a concrete wall, the air bag deployed, and she was injured (numerous fractures to date). We have seen the words 'brake override' and 'sudden unintended acceleration' in cases against toyota. There were no floor mats in the car. We bought this car in the first week of oct 2016, so it was only approx 75 days in our possession. The dealership could never get us in contact with the previous owner (about unrelated questions) and never mentioned any possible issue with the car. They gave me a carfax, but there was no mention of the sua issue. We feel toyota or someone should be responsible for this happening. Not only is there physical damage to the person, but also mental damage about driving any car. We believe the electronics are to blame for this happening. What are our options? we cannot find anyone to take the case. Please advise, thanks.

Manipulating cruise control, i17 downhill unintended acceleration, no brake response, moved to rocky left shoulder, throwing rocks noisy but mayhave helped slow me but brakes would not depress, in some order? shifted to neutral, turned off key, emergency brake, brakes now working.only time it happened,a few weeks later toyota says remove floor mat, did that also quit using cruise control as often i think i use it a lot more than most people.concerned now that both locally and nationally toyota won't talk to me because my year (2007) matrix is not on the recall list.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota matrix. While the contact was at a stop sign when the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the failure could not be reproduced. The approximate current and failure mileages were 34,000.

March 2,2010 while stopped at alight at the intersection of joppa road and loch raven blvd. My 2007 toyota matrix accelerated, while my foot was on the brake into the truck in front of me...also stopped at the red light.you could smell brakes burning, police were called but only did a collision report since my front end was damaged and the truck was ok. No personalinjuries.this was the first time i had anything like this happen with my car. I was terrified at the time.my car was towed to the toyota collision center. Called toyota customer service, told it would take 30 days before an inspector would look at the car and the damage could not be repaired until after seen by the inspector.on march 31st the inspector looked at my car ( after it had been driven without my knowledge to a toyota dealer)i was told it would take another 30 days for his results.i am waiting for toyotas decision.

Gas pedal has, approximately seven (7) times, become caught on the floor mat due to the floor mat not being secured, in any fashion, to prevent it from sliding up and underneath the gas pedal.while my car is not part of the toyota "voluntary" recall, i feel this is worthy of a complaint form.

I was in a giant food store parking lot going 5 to 10 mph. I was pulling up in the pickup lane to get my groceries. Upon completing a sharp left turn and getting ready to stop my engine revved up at a very high rate without pushing the accelerator down hard. I put my foot on the brake and put the car in neutral. The engine continued a high acceleration rate. I turn the engine off. The floor mat was not near the accelerator. I had only been going 5 to 10 mph. This happened feb 14, 2010. The only thing unusual lately was that my vehicle computer chip part # 89661-02k21 was replaced on october 15, 2009. 2007 toyota matrix.

I was driving out of a parking garage when the forward progress of the vehicle completely stopped, although the engine was still running.depressing the gas pedal was difficult and it would not propel the car forward.the car was towed to bill kidd's toyota in cockeysville, md.i was told that there was nothing wrong with the engine and that it was a computer chip that had been installed in many of the matrix models by general motors in california that seemed to be causing this problem.the chip was replaced with a toyota one.i am submitting this complaint, not because it caused me anything more than aggravation, since i was moving at under 10 mph when the issue arose, but because just before this malfunction, i was on a four-lane highway which could have resulted in an accident since the auto would have essentially dropped from 55 mph to 0 mph very quickly.i have just read that this issue is now one of many of this kind that are being reported, so i wanted to add mine to the number of incidents so that proper attention can be given to what seems should be a recall item.

The contact owns a 2007 toyota matrix.the contact was unable to drive in the rain due to the failure of the windshield wipers.whenever she activates the wipers, the marks left on the windshield are thick enough to prevent her from seeing the road.she called the dealer and offered them pictures of the marks on the windshield.the dealer stated that they did not want to see the pictures, and advised her to bring the vehicle in during rainy conditions for inspection.the contact does not want to drive during rainy conditions because of the potential safety hazard.the manufacturer stated that it was normal for the windshield wipers to leave marks or residue on the windshield.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 100 and current mileage was 3,973.

Maus toyota refuses to replace "flying hupcaps"! (orlando)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------hi,i purchased a 2007 matrix new from maus toyota and all 4 hubcaps came off when driving because they were only held on with plastic clips. I have talked to other matrix owners and seen many matrixs with missing hubcaps.maus toyota says it will replace the hubcaps for $77. Each!i told maus that toyota should recall the 2007 matrixs before someone gets hurt by a flying hubcap coming off at 60mph and there should be no replacement charge because it is toyota's fault for using weak plastic clips to hold their hubcaps on!i hope wesh can help hundreds of "ugly" matrix owners get free, safe replacement hubcaps from toyota and recall the dangerous loose ones now on their 2007 matrixs.i can send a photo if necessary.

I have had four wheel covers come off at high speeds.in two cases i was able to hear noises and this represented the wheel cover hitting objects as it would have been traveling over 60 miles per hour.the automobile is a 2007 toyota matrix without any options.thus it is factory equipped with plastic covers that slowly work their way loose due to the very little construction of the cover and the flexing of the wheel that will occur.i contacted toyota.i was told in a somewhat arrogant voice that they do "not" have a problem.this is a problem and at some point in time one of these covers will stick a person.i have now changed to a toyota camery wheel cover.this cover has a great deal of additional parts to it.it has springs andan additional material that prevents the slow movement of the wheel cover from coming off.i lost a total of the original covers.toyota is charging in excess of $70.00 for a replacement.thus if it was my car i might be delighted that i am profiting from a poor engineering mistake.this experience from having contacted toyota allows me to have an appreciation for what must be arrogance at the upper level management of this corporation.strong measures should be applied and the source of this poor attitude should be weeded out of this corporation.
