Takata recalli was informed about the recall what i believe to be the interim stage of the process. I do not, and have not felt safe driving my vehicle. A 'loaner' vehicle has not been made available despite repeated months of attempts. A remedy engineered fix has not been made available. My family is incapacitated by having both of our land cruisers not able to be driven. Toyota dealerships have misrepresented the cost incurred by my family if we wanted a 'loaner' vehicle. Both the corporations and dealerships refuse to promise a specific time in which a sufficient alternative 'loaner' vehicle can be provided for my singular case. We are trapped.
I received notification in january that there was a recall for the passenger airbag in this car. I have been waiting over 2 months for a remedy--it's listed as "interim" in toyota's system apparently.i was told by the dealer not to allow anyone in the passenger seat until the defect is fixed.this is a major disruption to my life.i can't imagine why it is taking so long to correct a defect with such significant consequences.
Toyota issued a recall on their faulty passenger seatbelt and it's rendering of the passenger side seatbelt useless late in 2018.when/how can nhsta encourage or force toyota to take corrective action on this safety problem?

Side mirrors both right and left occasionally flick in and out as if door adjustment activators are turning on and off. Mirrors flicker making rear auto lights flick in your face constantly when driving the vehicle at night.this was an occasional occurrence since vehicle was new, but not reproducible on visits to several dealers.now it is a constant flicker when car is being driven.the dealer has just reported the entire assemblies must be replaced on both doors as a cost of 2,000.00 dollars.makes this car totally unsafe to drive particularly in highway driving where changing lanes is required at night.i truly believe this is a defect that needs to be investigated concerning toyota motor usa, as in my experience this is safety equipment issue that is dangerous. This is a vehicle that has not had excessive wear, nor been in any vehicle accidents. This may very well have been a causation to traffic highway accidents in this vehicle type during highway night driving, and warrants your investigation for this model or others similarly equipped.thank you for your review of this matter. I have had your assistance in the past with a bmw 2002 3 series with failed rear tail light wiring. As a result, i know that this will not be ignored, and am hopeful that your investigation will save lives or prevent injury.we will not drive this vehicle at night, and the cost for safety equipment repair is definitely something the average middle class american can not afford, and should not ignore for their families safety.
Uncontrolled acceleration of 2008 toyota landcruiser resulting in run-away situation on interstate highway in rain. Speeds in excess of 90 mph. Gas pedal was operational.engine could not be turned off.engine ran at >7000 rpm while in park for several minutes.no control of vehicle speed, acceleration, or engine. Require massive brake pressure to get vehicle to 60 mph and then place engine in neutral.during entire episode, accelerator was free moving and made audible "clunk" sound when foot rapidly removed from petal.when vehicle was in neutral on the side of the road, the engine oscillated from 8000 rpm to 7000 rpm.engine would have ran all day had we not figured out to keep ignition button depressed to cut off engine. Could not place vehicle in park gear due to excessive rpm and had to go through reverse gear to get to park gear.engine compartment smoking due to hot brakes.petal was not impeded by rubber floor mat installed in vehicle at time of purchase.toyota engineers inspected vehicle and could not find any problem.brakes are warped/blued due to extreme heat from braking vehicle speed in excess of 100 mph to 60 mph in rain.electronic dash ignition button did not cut off engine. Toyota informed us via e-mail that there was no fault or safety issue with truck and ok to drive. Truck had mind of its own.......

Crawling during heavy traffic on highway and vehicle was stopped. Break pedal released and was moving slowly. Car accelerated suddenly and caused a rear end collision. Panic breaking wasn't adequate because of the proximity. Toyota technician downloaded the edr. Awaiting results.
