I was driving home on hamilton road, in columbus, ohio, at 535pm.i noticed that my headlights weren't on, when other drivers were trying to worn me.i set my headlights on automatic when i first received the car.i finally found the switch to turn my headlights on manually. Then my car started to brake 10-15 feet from the car in front of me, my tires were squealing.my foot was not on the brake pedal it was still on the accelerator.it was too late i hit the suv in front me.my air bags didn't deploy.the accident avoidance system didn't activate until to late.it is clear that the car responded after the headlight switch was manually turned on instead of being in the auto position.it was suggested at a dealership earlier that cycling the navigation system on the car could inadvertently disarm it.if that were the case and it was off accidently why did the car try to brake at the last second on its own by turning on the headlight switch.this car was purchased for the driver for the very reasons of its safety features unfortunately this car completely failed to protect the driver. That is why i feel like this should be looked at immediately to see if this is a mechanical issue, program issue, or simply driver error, which i do not believe at this point.i have photos of vehicle and interior which i am unable to upload on this site, they are available upon request.

Cannot renew vehicle registration due to the recall. Recall cannot be performed since manufacturer does not have a remedy. I'm now placed in a position wherein i might have to pay fines and other fees and not have a valid registered vehicle to use to get to and from work.

Toyota never call and let me know that my car is on recall

While driving warning lights on dashboard lit up and car shut down.according to screen on dash it showed malfunction of airbags, abs, lane change warning, among other system parts. Able to restart car and drive it to dealer. Toyota notified me that squirrels had eaten the main wire harness. Not covered under warranty. I did some research and found out toyota and other auto manufacturers use soy based wiring and wire covers which draw all types of rodents to them and they destroy the main harness electrical parts to malfunction. This can cause dangerous situations while driving possibly causing accidents resulting in injury or death. Brakes may fail ,air bags may not deploy etc. Toyota knows of the problem but refuses to correct it. It cost me $5000.00 to repair and i still do not feel safe. I notified toyota corp. Office they took my complaint and said nothing could be done about it. They did give me a case #[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recallit was a regular wednesday morning drive to my office.i was in highway 101 n and in the motion of approx 30mph due to traffic. Suddenly at around 8am, due to the traffic ahead i had to brake my car. My car was halt at a safe distance from the car ahead of me when i heard the emergency beep of my car and while i was being confused as to why the beep went off because my car was at a safe distance of the car ahead of me, my car was severely hit from behind.the impact was so severe towards the trunk that my car was draggedforward such that the front of my car went onto hit the back of the car that was at a safe distance from my car.this was followed by shift of my car from the second lane where the impact took place to the third lane of the highway. My car was totaled because of this accident.during this accidental event my front car and back car both air bag deployed except my car air bag didn't get deployed and because of this i went through serious multiple injuries causing some long term bodily damages.

My wife was driving the car on i95 from south to north (after exit 6 in pa) towards philly airport on 7/22/2017 and the car was hit at the rear by another car. Car was span and stopped. Thank to god that she is ok. However, the car was totaled by the insurance. Our concern was no airbag deployed. Our collision center as well as toyota doesn't know why. Need your help as well as it should not happen to someone.

I hit a deer doing 50 mph and my airbags never deployed.i contacted butler toyota of macon georgia and asked them to please research this issue and they have not contacted me back. It has been over 2 weeks now.

The cars takata lateral airbags activated after hitting a bump on the side of the road while going uphill. I had driven to the side of the road to avoid an accident with an invading vehicle and i do not feel that the bump the wheel had hit was that strong to activate the lateral airbags. I had contacted my local dealer for assistance as i have a full cover and they have not proved useful at all. Two months later my car is still at a workshop as they have not been able to receive the new airbags to install on the car and i've been without a vehicle because the full cover does not cover a rental. I would not recommend a purchase of any toyota vehicles because of the bad support and experience i have had with them since they even refused to accept my car after i had brought it to them for assistance the day the airbags went off.

My car was struck by a car spinning out of control mainly the drivers side door center post and rear door. I think the car is totaled. The passenger rear wheel is bent from the impact. None of the air bags deployed. The police officers that worked the accident was astonished. He said they should have deployed. My car was moving about 15mph the car that hit mine was spinning very fast. The roads were slick and it was raining. The impact was about 40 to 60mphat least.

Hello, on september 4th 2019 i was involved in a three car accident, me being in the middle. My air bags did not deploy and this evening i just saw a new article about many toyota corollas being effected. Low and behold my vehicle was one of the recall cars. There is no was to fix the car now i had to get a new one which is again on the list. I have checked both vin's. I was injured in that crash and that air bag could have helped my head not going the way it did. I'm extremely upset with the fact this was not brought forward sooner. I would like to speak with someone.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. While driving 40 mph, the crash avoidance sensor malfunctioned. The contact stated that the sensor did not apply the brakes or detect that the vehicle was too close to another vehicle. The dealer repaired the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The dealer refreshed the sensor software in the vehicle, but this did not correct the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 800.

Speedometer and odometer stopped working at random. Dtc's p0500 and b2283.

Was driving my car home from work and about 5 minutes after i started it and began to drive, i went over a speed bump going 5mph and suddenly my theft alarm system starts going off and incessantly honking. My hazard lights also began to blink and my high beams turned on. I pulled over and pressed my smart key alarm multiple times until the alarm stopped. Every time i would hit any sort of bump or use my turn signal switch, the alarm and headlights lights would start going off. I took it to toyota and they can't figure out what's wrong. They said it is an electrical issue, but not a toyota one. That doesn't make sense since toyota engineers the electric components.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. The contact stated that while the cruise control was activated at 65 mph, the dynamic radar feature activated violently. There was no vehicle in front of the contacts vehicle at that time that should have activated the dynamic radar. While coming to a stop at a stoplight, a car come out if no where. I tried to slam on the brake to come to a stop faster but the breaking system did not react to the pedal being pressed down. I was met with a stiff pedal and i could feel the brakes pushing back which caused me to hit another car that had already entered into an intersection.

Motor, powertrain...

On the road in puertorico the traction and pre collision system is not function normally and have a collision and the srs curtain airbag crasched for becaue of the collision and the transmision have a sound...

I bought my car brand new in april of 2017 and had nothing but problems, tires are always flat, steering doesn't work right, when i turn my car on it sounds really loud.brought it toyota 10 times and they did anything, there is constant squeak noise and my roof feels like it's going to blow off when i am on the interstate. Gas mileage sucks toyota states i got bad gas so they flushed it out but still hear that loud noise. My tires i have to fill up once a week but they say they are fine. Everything in this car is cheap and i hate it. They charged me 26 grand for a 17 thousand car without me ever knowing brandon toyota is the worst. Spoke to the general manager and service manager nothing is ever taken care of

Abs, vsc, mil, multiple warning messages including pre collision system malfunction, lane departure alert malfunction, front camera unavailable, cruise control malfunction. C1336 error code. Zero point calibration undone. Has happened 3 times.

Lane departure alert & pre collision system malfunctionwarning light keep illuminating on the dashboard for a certain amount of time and then will turn off again without warning. This is also affecting the cruise control and the abs system. I noticed that it affects what seems to be the transmission when i am coming to a stop the car will shake uncontrollably and act like it is out of gear. Almost like it is possessed. It's been doing it on and off since i bought the car and i have taken it to the dealershipmultiple times and they will fix it temporarily and then several months later it always comes back.this past time has been the worst as it seems like there are multiple electrical components that are being affected and it is actually affecting the steering as well as the breaking and efficient running of the vehicle .

Car has several issues, one is definitely the vehicle warning lights in dash, the warning lights pop up at different times for no reason occasionally and dealers can't find issues, car also has issues with braking system. Several times went around curves it on stops and car locked up and went sideways, dealer said tested but less than a mile put on car?? car does not act like it has normal abs and almost got in several accidents with my kids and grandson because of it my stopping or locking up!! also have issues since i bought it with radio/features/display. Things show up half way or it turns off at times and also calls out even when untouched. Worried about gps cutting out when needed too. Also plastic part under passaged side glove box continuously falls off, took to dealer and they just put back in, didn't replace but you could see the bend where hook was. And gas mileage and the recent cvt recall, they updated, not replaced after i asked and described how it was driving, and still having issues because they didn't replace after i said it wouldn't go over a certain speed during highway travel or roads requiring over 45 mph. The driving warning thing when you go over lines doesn't always work either, it does 50% of the time. Explained that too but nothing done. Very concerned about this car!! had since 11/2016 and barely drove because of issues and safety concerns. It out has 8000 miles because of it.

Motor, powertrain...

1st of all fix your site i have to now write everything over again& again.fix this.i was on freeway west on i-10 turned off on washington st. Exit& warning light &buzzer showing battery flashing&30 seconds my p.s. Light flashes& lost power&steering& was able to veer into parking lot.if this would have happened 3 minutes earlier i would have been run down by heavy traffic.in less than 2 minutes i lost power& steering.don,t think i will ever feel safe driving this car again.after replacing altanator-waterpump-thermostat-timing belt-spark plugs-crankshaft position sensor& camshaft sensor.still cranks but won't start.engine rotates but won't turn over or start

Car stalled while driving. Gave dtc p0113, p0013, p1603, p1605.

When the vehicle is stopped at a stop light, the car will jerk hard like someone is pushing the accelerator down all the way while i have the brakes engaged.this has happened only 5 times in the past 2 years.... But it is enough times that is really scares myself and my kids.the filters (cabin filter?) always stinks like mold.my son has acute asthma and i have to change it out every 2 or 3 months to keep him from having an asthma attack.the blue tooth (hands free phone), the caller on the other end can not hear anything, but a windy noise like i am in a wind tunnel--- and forget about even talking on it above speeds of 40 mph!!the road noise is worse than my 2002 sebring convertible that i used to have.the steering wheel will not let me scroll down the phone numbers like my 2015 corolla used to let me do.i will probably never pay for a 2017 corrolla cash again.too many issues.

Bought the car last april, it has given me no problems, until now. The car start to loose acceleration when driving almost got into two car accident on the road, called toyota but they want to charge me to inspect the car, the car seems to be stuck on gears like if it was on neatrual.

The automatic high/low beam headlight system intermittently stops working.with the switch in correct position, everything is working as expected, then the auto indicator on dash goes off and the lights stay on low beams, even though there is no oncoming traffic or tail lights ahead.this may only be for about a minute to several minutes.with the auto indicator off, i am stuck on low beams.when the auto indicator comes back on, the system functions normally.during the time the auto indicator is off, i cannot get high beams unless i turn the headlight switch from auto to on.this is dangerous because i have to manually change the switch setting and the lights go off while the switch is moved.this has happened several times with the last time being 11/5/2018.

The auto high beam headlights will dim for an oncoming car and quite often not go back to bright for quite some time (minutes/miles). When driving dark, two lane roads i have to turn my headlights off of auto setting, thus completely switching them off as i twist the knob forward to on instead of auto. Then i have to flick the high beams on manually. This process takes a few seconds while driving at 55+mph which is very dangerous. The auto high beam indicator also completely disappears when this issue happens even though the light is toggled forward to the high beam setting.

After being blinded by ridiculously bright headlights on newer toyota vehicles the last couple years, i recently rented a toyota corolla. I was horrified that the headlights on this car are legal. Not only do you blind oncoming vehicles, but you can't see safely! the brightness of these headlights is such that anything reflective blinds yourself! (road signs, etc.) yet, somehow they don't ,in my opinion, light the road ahead adequately. They do seem to light the trees and things on the side of the road pretty well, but not what needs to be seen. Also the high beams are worthless, as the just seem to light the trees more. All of this was observed while driving in the desert of new mexico and texas on two lane highways. I am convinced americans are dying because of the inadequacies of these headlights.

Headlights are inadequate, even dangerous. You can see a distinct "horizon line" in front of the car which has a sharp cutoff above which there is no illumination. In spite of their extreme intensity, these headlights illuminate everything but the road ahead. Makes me feel like i am driving without headlights. I thought they were not aligned properly but dealer says they look ok. I have since observed many similar complaints on various web sites for the corolla over several model years.here is one of many similar complaints found on the web: "the main front led low beam is a problem on all trims of this current generation. It is too bright and blinds oncoming drivers, there is also a hard cutoff line in which you can't see anything above it. They also poorly light the road. The beam goes everywhere but the road. It seems they are incorrectly aimed.""when did this happen?" only allows for a single date. This is a continuous problem. Which occurs anytime you try to drive at night.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. While driving 40 mph, the crash avoidance sensor malfunctioned. I had to drive around 600 miles to and from family funeral. As others have reported the cruise control on a down hill slope goes out of control.as i reached the top of a hill and started down the cruise control would accelerate to 4000 rpm ( it is really loud) the speed would start increasing and go 15-20 mph over what the cruise control speed was set at. I had to turn off the cruise control to regain control over the speed. I was afraid that something might happen if i did not.where it seemed my car should down shift it was not. Something is wrong with the programming of the cruise control. This should not happen on a decline.also, at one point when i was in the left lane and a car passed me on the right, my car slowed down really quickly. If someone had been behind me it could have caused a serious accident. This is my fourth toyota and i have never had these problems before.

I had a car accident on january 15, 2021. My car was totaled and none of my air bags deployed. My emergency brake sensor didn't go off as well which usually always goes of for any minimal close object. Because of my air bag not deploying i cut my lip outside and inside going to the hospital and getting a stitch in the inside of my lip. I had a hole the width of a dime from hitting the steering wheel and bled non stop from my nose and lip/mouth. The hospital has in my chart the picture of the hole.

Cruise control malfunction, traction control malfunction, collision radar warning system malfunction. Dealer was unable to solve issue. Transmition vibration when changing from 2nd to 3rd & back from 3rd to 2nd gear. All safety equipment, specifically cruise control, traction control, lane departure warning, collision warning are turned off & an error warning is visible on the dash, dealer service department claims it is an unknown issue but 8 other toyota owners brought their car in the same day, we had a disscusion while waiting & drinking coffee.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact shifted the vehicle into park and restarted the vehicle. On another occasion while the vehicle was in a parking lot, the vehicle shutoff and was towed to deluca toyota (1719 sw college rd, ocala, fl 34471) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

Car speeds up at stop or low speeds on highway and streets stop and go traffic

Check engine light is on.throws 5 codes all emissions and fuel errors.toyota dealership had it for a full day and can not figure out why/cause.needs for longer.8000 miles on car.

Was driving in middle lane of interstate 10 when vehicle lost power. Car would not accelerate. Car coasted for approx. 5 minutes. Had to put on emergency flasher, put car in park to restart engine. Cars coming up behind me doing 75/80/85 miles per hour and had to swerve immediately to keep fromhitting my vehicle. I had a friend in passenger seat and we were both scared for our lives. To this day, i am afraid to drive on interstate or any other busy highway because toyota said they could not find any problem.

Car is turned off and parked in driveway. Few hours later went to start the car. Noise coming from gas tank. Fuel pump running by itself, loud and noticeable.

While driving down a downgrade with the cruise control engaged and set to 65mph, the cvt transmission downshifts, the rpms increased and the vehicle accelerated to well over the speed limit. It felt like i was losing control. I had to activate the brakes to disengage the cruise control in order to reduce my speed to below the posted speed limit. I tried it again on another downgrade and the same situation was duplicated. The car will also engage rpms when you are downgrading or upgrading in cruise control i did not take the car into a dealer since the issue has been reported to dealerships with a solution to this problem.

I have owned my car just under a year. I have had continuous issues with the transmission randomly down shifting at stops and now i get a check engine light so i pull into my closest auto parts store since it's sunday. Boom 17 codes for emission control failure. This is ridiculous less than a year and im already showing transmission failure and emission control issues. This is not a good sign for future years to come. There was a recall earlier this year involving the transmission and now its suddenly disappeared. I find it strange especially since toyota keeps downplaying everything every time i go in.

Toyota special service campaign jsd.understand that toyota has notified dealers there is a know defect with the cvt transmission. However, as an owner i have not been notified.transmission does not operate smoothly when driving.toyota is attempting to correct with a software update, but they are not actually disassembling the cvt transmission to check for problems\unnecessary wear.this needs to be a recall, so owners will be covered in the likely event the cvt transmissions break in the future due to the known defect issue and the vehicle is out of warranty. Appears toyota is trying to save money by not issuing a recall, and just trying an inexpensive and inadequate software update with investigating whether the problem has caused damage to the transmission.

My car was in drive and my foot was on the brake so i was not accelerating. I was in a turning lane to enter a business. My car shut off completely and the lights on my dash lit up. I waited a few minutes and took the keys out of the ignition and was able to start the car again. I've also had issues in the past, on multiple occasions, where i turn my key in the ignition and the car will not start. This issue has happened multiple times (even when it was brand new) and no one has been able to duplicate it as it happens randomly.

On the road in puertorico the traction and pre collision system is not function normally and have a collision and the srs curtain airbag crasched for becaue of the collision and the transmision have a sound...

Shifting of transmission in vehicle hesitates and/or is inconsistent upon sudden acceleration or deceleration, making it difficult for the driver to determine the acceleration of the vehicle versus other cars on a busy street. There have been numerous instances in which the car is not shifting appropriately and i am unable to accurately judge entering traffic from a residential neighborhood onto a busy intersection as the car will sometimes shift/react to the driver and other times not. At times the transmission reaches and remains at 7, 000 rpm (in red) without shifting and/or is slow in response to acceleration. A campaign recall was issued by toyota for which the transmission software was reprogrammed on the vehicle; however, these issues still remain. My ultimate concern is the safety of my children and myself when driving this car as i am not always able to predict how it will drive upon sudden needs to accelerate or decelerate. It is most notable in stop and go traffic, stops on a hill, or need for increased acceleration getting on the highway. Weather temperature, high winds, passenger load all seem to be variables in how the car shifts. The car drives/shifts inconsistently from day to day. When not shifting, it raises major concerns i will make the wrong determination when judging traffic that may cause an accident. I have consistently raised these concerns with the dealership from the time of first oil change (purchased new) to current (31,000 miles). Toyota has also reviewed; however, i am concerned there is bias in the true operation of the vehicle as there comment was "driving as designed'. It was stated by toyota that it costs several million dollars to update the software and that it would not be updated until enough of these cases were known. I am submitting this request for an independent review of the transmission issues in this model year.

While driving down a downgrade with the cruise control engaged and set to 65mph, the cvt transmission seemed to downshift, the rpm's increased and the vehicle accelerated to well over the speed limit. I tried it again on another downgrade and the same situation was duplicated. I did not take the car into a dealer since the issue has been reported to dealerships with a solution to this problem.

I own a toyota corolla 2017 since 1/14/17.car shows 2 main issues: 1)- cooling fluid evaporates continuosly or decreases from fluid tank at about 1/4 of in. X month every time i've checked it in. I,first, refilled it once with correct or same fluid.it kept evaporating at the same rate.then,i reported it to dealership it was sold. 2)- shift lever or gear control; this car comes with cvt automatic trans-mission, every time i shift speed gear and move knob from parking to drive position and vice verse, the shifting doesn't ocurres correctly or got stuck in the previous speed temporarely and then it moves to position i shifted. When car is apllied brake pedal to park car in plain surface areas(parking lots, city streets) and speed gear knob is placed in parking position, car moves back and forths 2 to 3 times and then stop completely. Both issues were reported to dealership. In a programmed service car asked to dealership due to manufacturer's car warranty on june,11th/17 both issues were reported to dealership technician performing car services. According to technician's report and words, cooling fluid tank was refilled to correct levels, computer checking was applied and failures codes weren't found either on the cooling system or automatic transmission system.technician also reported that farther observation would be needed in case of transmission shifting issues, but it would take my car parked in dealership service areas for 3 hours before he tries any attempt to dissamble any transmission parts or any farther testing. Up to present, either issues haven't been addressed or fixed by dealership's technicians and both issues keep happening.

While using cruise control on fairly level roadway, (rural road) at a speed of 45 mph, the rpm were about 1500, but increased suddenly to about 4500 rpm.after awhile the rpm would drop back down to normal for the speed situation.this occurs also at highway speed of 60 mph in our area.this occurrence has happened many times.have returned to dealer twice now.problem was observed by service manager and local toyota rep who was in town for local auto show. Car was analyzed and data send to engineer in california who later said car is behaving normal. I found that hard to believe as both loaner cars (2017 corolla) did not behave in this dangerous fashion. I feel this quick brush off by the engineer (tanaka) who is only observing data and not having to drive this car is wrong. I feel the computer should be adjusted for the cvt to solve this problem. Wife does not feel safe driving this vehicle.we have taken 3 videos to document this event.

On 3/22/17 i was driving an enterprise rental car into an apartment complex and pulled in front of the leasing office to park. While stepping on the brake pedal the car did not stop and it suddenly accelerated causing the car to crash into the pillars of the leasing office with force.airbags deployed and my passenger and i had to crawl out of the rear passenger door to escape the vehicle.we are lucky to be alive and escape with minor injuries.there are drag skid marks on the ground from the rear wheels.upon collision the engine shut off even though the key was in the run position..

Vehicle was stopped at a traffic light and when the light turned for a left turn i tried to accelerate to get through the intersection when the vehicle lost power. This has happened on three occasions and i took it to the dealership to get it checked and they said they could not replicate it. Transmission has not been shifting correctly and now the transmission is making a strange grinding noise. This corolla has a cvt transmission and the toyota corolla forums are telling me that toyota is aware of this problem and had issued a special service campaign to update the software. This has since been rescinded because the update did not fix the problem.i have read that this loss of power is causing some serious safety concerns, especially if it happens on high speed highways.

I just purchased a 2017 corolla xse in feb 2017. The first time it happened i had the cruise control on and was traveling to work at 05:15, and i came to an overpass and on the way down the normal overpass over a cross street, i heard the engine rev and i looked at the tach, and it was at 5000 rpm. I was startled. The same thing happened at the next overpass. This time it was 4000 rpm almost at the bottom of this rather short average downhill. This is still happening, but occasionally it does not. How could this possibly be correct. I can control the speed quite nicely with my foot on the accelerator without hardly any variation of my rpm's. This just doesn't make sense. I am not talking about a long downhill road that has a lane for trucks on the right, where they would have to downshift to maintain a safe speed, this is just overpasses on a freeway system. I asked my salesman, and he said that it was probably normal, and i said how could it be normal for this thing to rev at 5000 rpm on a houston freeway? i only have 5000 miles on this car.this will definitely affect the mileage. I am beside myself at this point.

The transmission (cvt) doesn't respond when accelerating leaving a stop sign causing a delay in moving and we fear will one day cause an accident as it won't get out of the way of other traffic. It also doesn't shift correctly (it revs too high before it shifting) even though it is an automatic. To us it seems like a hazard to us and others on the road. Toyota maintenance says it is normal, but this is ongoing since we purchased the car.

Motor, powertrain...

I was in a car accident. I was stopped at a stop sign behind a line of cars on an offramp off i-10east, exit 279 in vail az. I was rear ended by another car who reported they hit me going 60mph. The air bags did not deploy, my seatbelt did not tension. I hit my head and face on the steering wheel. I sought medical treatment and was diagnosed with a concussion, whiplash and neck injury.

Driving through an intersection when a car turned left in front of me at the intersection. Speed was approximately 35-45 when collision occured. The front of my car hit the side of their car. After crash dash showed pcs malfunction see dealer no airbags deployed and seat belt did not lock up. Car was deemed totalled at 50k miles. I have whiplash and moderate back injuries. Car was taken in for recall on 3/28/2021.

I have a recall from manufacturer with recall number20tb03nhtsa recall number20v024 since january 17 2020. And every time i call the dealerships they mention that they don't have the parts.

Cannot renew vehicle registration due to the recall. Recall cannot be performed since manufacturer does not have a remedy. I'm now placed in a position wherein i might have to pay fines and other fees and not have a valid registered vehicle to use to get to and from work.

This recall must be fixed on my toyota corolla le as soon as possible because it is a series safety issue to the consumer. [xxx] received a notice from toyota motor sales on 3/14/2020 and the letter stated that a repair to the vehicle will not be available for more than two months and this is unacceptable to me. Please let me know by e-mail who to contact because this vehicle is not safe to drive and i would be held responsible for any accident and/or injury to my family or any passengers that would occupy the 2017 toyota corolla during the next 90 days while waiting for the company to schedule an appointment at the spartanburg, sc dealership. Thank you for your assistance on this matter.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Both front seats are loose. I notice mine is loose when i make a sudden stop or and go of bumps and dips. I been to several dealerships, but only one identified the problem. The advisor said it will take literally 8 hours each, i called toyota to let them know of the problem and that the mechanic from the dealer who noticed the problem. He also said he noticed the noise i was talking about when i go over dips and bumps. I thought it was the ball joint or bushing and he said no. They noise is just there

The passenger side seat slips out of the locked position. When sitting on and while moving.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the rear driver side seat failed to latch correctly to the floorboard and became loose. In addition, the rear passenger side seat adjustment latch fractured. Hendrick toyota scion wilmington (5640 market st, wilmington, nc) was notified, but the failures could not be duplicated. Furthermore, the contact had to replace the vehicle battery shortly after purchasing the vehicle. Kendall toyota (10943 s dixie hwy, miami, fl) was also made aware of the failures, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Brakes are slvery soft and have been since 500 miles; and from day one have seemed to soften over time. Braking distance in my opinion is dangerous from the factory. I've had them adjusted twice and i'm about to have it done a third time. I bought the car new and have driven 22k miles. Toyota says there is nothing wrong but since the pedal feel is better after they adjusted them, and slowly gets worse they obviously know what's going on.

My new 2017 corolla has squeaky brakes right out of the showroom when i apply the brakes every time, and continues to do so.

I'm a trooper with the oregon state police. I covered a crash today where the mentioned vehicle braked for the driver, but the brake lights never engaged.i spoke to another toyota owner on scene who stated his toyota does the same when the vehicle is braking for him. The driver behind this toyota was able to stop in time, but i can see this lack of brake lights as a problem.

Red brake light, abs, vsc, power steering, and mil lights came on. Dtc's u0129.

On october 22, 2017, while at a complete stop behind 3 other vehicles.the first vehicle was stopped at a stop sign, my foot was on the brakes, because i was at a complete stop, was hit from behind by a truck.the car lunged forward towards the car in front of me, and i mashed my foot on the brake to stop it, but it would not stop.my car kept accelerating forward, while i was frantically kept mashing my brakes to the floor. The toyota corolla never stopped until i pulled up the emergency brake.this is a brand new car, that i purchased only since june of 2017.i was terrified while my kept going, and was injured from the car hitting me from behind.

The car is pulling i've taking it to the dealership over 6 times when i'm driving the car is shaking and pulling and it feels like i'm going to flip over from the windyou can go over 60 on the freeway if a car is next to you my car will shake when i turn i'm so scard the tires are going to break off it's not a safe car

The automatic emergency braking does not appear to be working.i have never noticed the vehicle automatically apply the brakes to slow down the vehicle when approaching another vehicle.the vehicle only automatically slows down when i am using autonomous cruise control.

First occured at 45k, driving home on city street traveling straight at about 40mph when traffic came to stop, went to brake and pedal depressed to floor and car did not stop. Was able to engine brake and using parking brake to safetly stop. Towed to nearest shop, and master cylinder had premature failure and replaced $500. Notified toyota headquarters usa,no resolution.on 3/12/20, driving home and traffic came to sudden stop on 80mph interstate traveling straight, hit the brakes and nothing, pedal went to floor. Drove car into median ditch with engine and parking brake engaged to avoid accident. Luckily no damage to car or people, property damage occured. Towed to nearest shop, diagnosed again with master cylinder failure, car at 52k miles now, barely 8k from last replacement . Notified toyota headquarters again without resolution.

My new (4,000 miles) toyota corolla 2017 failed to stop in a parking lot. I pulled in a parking lot of my apartment building, but my car failed to stop at the car stopper (bump) and kept going. I kept applying the brakes, but the car kept going . It went throughawooden fence, i continued to apply the bakes, but the car didn't respond and kept going until it hits the wall of the adjacent building.

While coming out of a revered position, i was driving forward and my brakes vibrated.this caused my car to stall while in the driving position.

The cruise control is just awful and has been since i bought the car brand new in december 2016. Just as several others have described, it cannot control the speed when going down hill. It raises the rpm's trying to slow the car down, but it isn't very effective. I've never had another car or another toyota have such poor speed control. So much, that i don't even bother trying to use it anymore. A cop isn't going to listen to "my cruise control wasn't working right" if i get pulled over. The brakes already feel like they are wearing out at 26k miles. My 13 camry had 30k and the brakes still felt brand new. Same with the 15 sentra i had. The suspension feels rougher and is starting to make noises already. This car shouldn't feel like it has 60k miles on it already.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front and the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to (northridge toyota, 19550 nordhoff st, northridge, ca 91324) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that failure was due to the brake shim kit. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

When purchasing the car and leaving the car lot i heard a grinding/rubbing noise which sounds just like brake pads being worn as well as rotors. I contacted the car lot and they assured me it was from rust where it had sit. They had me take it to toyota of kingsport and they evaluated stating it was rust. I still hear the rubbing or loudness after they replaced the rotors. Please recall

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. While driving approximately 3 mph, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the nearest dealer. The vehicle was taken to mojave chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram, toyota of barstow (631 main st, barstow, ca 92311, 760-256-3502) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The technician ordered the parts, but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The vin was not provided.

Steering wheel is hard to turn while driving.because of hard steering wheel, it is hard to turn. I feel risky while turning because there would be a chances that it won't turn in time and would have the risk of collision.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. While driving on the interstate at approximately 50 mph, the steering was uncontrollable and it felt like the wind was blowing the vehicle. The vehicle veered to the left and right and was difficult to steer straight ahead. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was driven home. The dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 155.

1st of all fix your site i have to now write everything over again& again.fix this.i was on freeway west on i-10 turned off on washington st.

Paint peeling on this color blue and toyota is not acknowledging the problem, paint is chipping all over the car , places where it should never you can even see the original primer the factory uses underneath the car

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the driver's side front seat moved forward and backward where the seat was connected to the subframe. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer toyota of greenville (2686 laurens rd, greenville, sc 29607, (864)754-7866) but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Clunking noise, sometimes very noticeable when going over speed bump and turning steering to right or left. Took the car to toyota dealership twice. Both times they said the noise is normal. But independent mechanic says there is problem with cv joint and bushing. I am wondering if this vehicle is safe to drive.

At 60,00 miles i started hearing noises coming from the front suspension i took it to the dealership it was still under warranty they told me that it was the upper strut mount here. Dealership replaced front mount. Now it is doing again i'm at a hundred and ten thousand miles and that problem still persist something is going on with the strut mounts front strut mounts of this vehicle every time i go over a speed bump or railroad tracks it makes a clunking noise and also when i'm turning left and right

Personally i am a rather tall person. The car was not designed for tall people. While i was traveling at 65 mph i went to rest my left ankle to a closer spot along the door and seat. The gas lock and trunk lever are in the same place my heal was, and the trunk opened while going 65 mph on the highway. They didn't design the car to keep the gas lid or trunk closed if accidentally triggered while the car is in motion. My second issue with the car is that it has issues going into park. The car rolls just a little and the shifter clicks in a delayed reaction once placed in park.

The heater system that has automatic temperature control every time that you start the car the heater system will bring in the outside cold air instead of recirculated air now my wife does not like this one bit i took the wifes car in for service at brent brown toyota on 01-17-2018 i told the service dept. About the heater system problem and i felt that i was given the runaround and i was also told that thats the way is is!!!! any time you make any heater changes the heater system can be on recirculated air and will change over on its own to the cold outside air. While driving any where. Can someone please help me.

When you push the sports button that gives it speed you drive about 5 miles and the car check engine light will fladh. Then the car will not drive over 30mph. I had the car towed to fred hess dealer twice and they said nothing was wrong. But it will still do it. So i stopped using it. I only have 20k miles on the car. So it's dangerous if your on the freeway.

Car speeds up at stop or low speeds on highway and streets stop and go traffic

I purchased brand new corolla 2017 last year and it is offcourse under warranty and i have regular service as asked by dealer. This evening i plan with my family to go out and once i get near to my car i saw my rear screen is shattered and i wondered what cause this and found no impact by anything external. I took some pics and look more in detail and found that it was shattered itself despite it was not very hot or cold weather. I am concerned about it as what it have happened having my little kid in car or my wife. Paying reasonable cost of vehicle and getting poor safety make me think of logging this complaint and i am sure someone will look in to it and will raise this concern with authorities and public safety notice too with corolla owners/drivers. One more thing it was parked as usual and it was parked in private area.

I recieved a letter about "important safety recall" from toyota company. It says "incomplete or nondeployment of airbags and seat belt pretensioners may occur." i took my car to toyota of orlando dealer to have new parts replaced, but they said they didn't have those parts to replace for my car. I asked them when they have new parts to fix my car. They said they don't know when, just go home and wait. I am very worried about my safety every time i drive to work or do errands. This is an urgent safety recall. I don't understand why they don't have new parts ready to fix customers' car. How long will i have to wait for it to be repaired?

I have owned my car just under a year. I have had continuous issues with the transmission randomly down shifting at stops and now i get a check engine light so i pull into my closest auto parts store since it's sunday. Boom 17 codes for emission control failure. This is ridiculous less than a year and im already showing transmission failure and emission control issues. This is not a good sign for future years to come. There was a recall earlier this year involving the transmission and now its suddenly disappeared. I find it strange especially since toyota keeps downplaying everything every time i go in.

Purchased car on 04/30/17 and six days later, got a malfunction warning message for the front camera during car start up. Camera is part of the new standard safety sense package. Dealer was unable to correct issue and ordered a new camera. Indicated they have not heard of any previous known issues with the camera. Dealer took longer than usual since they have never replaced a camera before and had no clue how to recalibrate.

I was driving along a suburban street with little traffic in nice weather when i heard what sounded like a like a loud explosion. I thought i got shot by a gun but i didn't feel any pain so i thought my car was shot. When i was able to get out of my vehicle to check the damage, i was unable to find anything wrong. Later on, my husband saw the sunroof shattered in our garage, something i could not see because of my height.

Bought the car last april, it has given me no problems, until now. The car start to loose acceleration when driving almost got into two car accident on the road, called toyota but they want to charge me to inspect the car, the car seems to be stuck on gears like if it was on neatrual.

When going downhill on cruise control my corolla's rpm's go up to 5000 and instead of keeping stable speeds it increases the speeds. I feel like i can't control my vehicle when this happens. This is a huge safety issue. I'm not sure if something needs to be re-programmed but i've seen so many complaints on this issue. I wouldn't be surprised if a wreck has happened because of this. Toyota needs to be forced to fix this issue before someone seriously gets hurt or dies.

While driving down a downgrade with the cruise control engaged and set to 65mph, the cvt transmission seemed to downshift, the rpm's increased and the vehicle accelerated to well over the speed limit. It felt like i was losing control. I had to activate the brakes to disengage the cruise control in order to reduce my speed to below the posted speed limit. I tried it again on another downgrade and the same situation was duplicated. I did not take the car into a dealer since the issue has been reported to dealerships with a solution to this problem.

When cruise control engaged, if it hits a level or down hill it appears to down shift, but continue to speed up.it should just reduce the fuel to slow down.this appears to be a program problem.this happens at all speeds. It was bought used from a toyota dealer.i have not asked the service department yet.

Red brake light, abs, vsc, power steering, and mil lights came on. Dtc's u0129.

The contact owns a 2017 toyota corolla. The contact stated that while the cruise control was activated at 65 mph, the dynamic radar feature activated violently. There was no vehicle in front of the contacts vehicle at that time that should have activated the dynamic radar. The dealer (toyota of easley, 5643 calhoun memorial hwy, easley, sc 29640, (864) 855-2233) was notified. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 700.*ln

When going down hill, the cruise control races the engine into high rpm (4000+ rpm) rather than slowing the engine and controlling the car speed. It has done this since it was new.

The cruise control is just awful and has been since i bought the car brand new in december 2016. Just as several others have described, it cannot control the speed when going down hill. It raises the rpm's trying to slow the car down, but it isn't very effective. I've never had another car or another toyota have such poor speed control. Car speeds up at stop or low speeds on highway and streets stop and go traffic

As others have reported the cruise control on a down hill slope goes out of control. As i reach the top of the hill and start down the cruise control will accelerate to 4000 rpm and the speed will increase 10-15 mph over what the cruise control is set at. I must turn off the cruise control to regain control over the speed. Something is wrong with the programming of the cruise control. On down hill the cruise control should be reducing fuel to maintain speed not increase it. I am a police officer and this cruise control is a hazard.

The vehicle was traveling in the left lane of a divided 4 lane highway at a speed of 55 mph with the speed control and radar engaged. The road curved slightly to the right.the vehicle approached a car stopped in the left turn lane in the median - not it the lane of travel. Due to the curvature of the road, the radar detected the stopped vehicle and apparently believed it to be in the path of travel. The radar/speed control sounded its "collision alarm" and rapidly decelerated approximately 10 - 15 mph before i could disengage it and regain control.had there been a vehicle following me this could have resulted in a collision as a following driver would have seen that the lane of travel was clear and would haveno reason to expect my vehicle to suddenly decelerate.i have experienced similar issues when a vehicle in front of me turns right or left at an intersection. I can see that the vehicle is turning and i know how long it will take to clear the travel lane.the radar speed control system seems to detect the slowing vehicle but takes a long time to process what is happening.the speed control will abruptly decelerate the vehicle after the turning vehicle is well out of the intersection. Again, the sudden deceleration without apparent traffic conditions to warrent such action are a hazard to the vehicle and any following vehicles.i took the vehicle to the service department at at toyota of goldsboro (nc) on october 23, 2017. Their opinion was that the speed control/radar was "operating as designed."

The cvt transmission make a sound unknow the dealer say me that is all normal in the car for me is not normal other cars contain cvt transmission and this sound not make in others cvt transmission is more making sound in climb and when on air conditioner

Adaptive cruise control causes the car to down-shift unnecessarily on a straight downhill grade and sometimes increases the speed by as much as 8-10 mph. I feel out of control, which is dangerous.a toyota technician has confirmed the same behavior on another 2017 corolla.on one occasion, on a freeway downhill where the speed could have easily been controlled by letting off the gas, the car downshifted to d3, revs went to about 4000, and the speed increased to 70mph - when it was set to about 62.on another occasion, on a relatively flat, straight freeway road, it again downshifted for no apparent reason, and the speed again increased over the set speed (of course the revs were higher again).in both of the above cases, there was no car or other obstacle in front of me that should cause the car to slow down.i've seen the adaptive cruise respond to a car too close so know how that feels.

On interstate in western maryland and west virginia, road curves to left, going uphill (steep) at 70 mph and 4000+ rpm in drive, 3 lanes, truck in "slow" right lane (40mph), corolla in middle lane, left lane empty.safet sense "sees" truck and hits brakes.no one behind, thanks. Possible rear end collusion.serious safety fault.difficult for corolla to regain speed.does not happen on right curve as those vehicles in left lane are moving faster than corolla.

While coming out of a revered position, i was driving forward and my brakes vibrated.this caused my car to stall while in the driving position.

Vehicle went out of control in regards of speed when traveling downhill with cruise control on. Vehicle began heavily decelerating and accelerating along with high engine rpm. This is extremely dangerous and i am unable to use cruise control because of it.

Speed control engaged going downhill on highway at 60 mph - car accelerates very quickly to over 70 mph and the tac goes to 4500.to disengage i either turnoff speed control or brake.this happened four times today.i have never had a toyota act like this.usually speed control maintains the speed uphilll or downhilll in a very small range and never races the engine.this is very dangerous and i will not use speed control until i can get this fixed.taking to toyota monday.i noticed that there are quite a few complaints on the internet about this exact problem.

I asked my salesman, and he said that it was probably normal, and i said how could it be normal for this thing to rev at 5000 rpm on a houston freeway? i only have 5000 miles on this car.this will definitely affect the mileage. I am beside myself at this point.

Disappointed with toyota on this, last one i will purchase if they are unable to provide a fix! while in motion on every occasion the cruise control is engaged and the vehicle is on a decline the cruise control does not maintain the set speed. This is the first time of 4 other corolla's i have owned that responded like this.depending on the severity of the decline the speed will increase from 5 to 15 mph and the engine revs to 4,000 rpms in an attempt to maintain speed.adam's toyota dealership has stated that this is a normal occurrence for all 2017 corolla's cvt's and i maintain it's not and cruise is useless therefore i should be reimbursed.the cruise control in all other vehicles (prior corolla's and other makes) i have owned has maintained a consistent speed no matter the road being traveled. Since i have owned this vehicle this issue has occurred every time i have engaged the cruise control.others online have complaints on this issue as well. Toyota please provide fix

When the cruise control is engaged and the vehicle is on a decline the cruise control does not maintain the set speed. Depending on the severity of the decline the speed will increase from 5 to 15 mph. When using the accelerator pedal and maintaining the exact same pressure the vehicle only increases speed minimally (2 to 3 mph) on the decline. When in cruise control the speed increase is very drastic. The toyota dealership has stated that this is a normal occurrence and that they have tested several same model and year toyota vehicles and all have the same speeding tendencies so this is normal. The dealership stated that the fix is to engage the manual transmission mode to use the engine compression to slow the vehicle down. I have followed there advice and this does not rectify the problem. The cruise control in all vehicles i have owned is used to maintain a consistent speed no matter the terrain being traversed. This issue has occurred every time we have engaged the cruise control on the vehicle while driving on a highway that has a decline.

The vehicle does this 100% of the time.when on the adaptive cruise control on the interstate there are occasions where the cruise will go 14 mph above the set limit and the engine is at 4000 rpm or higher.i typically drive at 65 mph on the interstate; this is causing me to go to over 75 mph while the system is trying to recover back to 65mph.i also own a 2017 toyota rav4 and drive the same roads; the cruise is 'rock steady'.it holds at a constant 65mph.

1917 toyota corolla has a design flaw. When sun shines on windshield the dashboard image appearson windshield and impede visibility. I reported matter to toyota corporation and a case no. 1800320050 was set up by one patty. Her phone no 1-800-331-4331. I was send to liberty toyota the dealer but they could not do anything about it, and refer the matter to toyotaheadquarters.

Problem is the windshield. Picture goes and comes depending on the reflecting of sunglight

I recently purchased a used 2017 corolla and i agree with 2 others that the windshield has a design flaw.it is extremely angled in toward the car and reflects the dashboard in the window.the dashboard is like a mirror and the ventilation levers that run along the dash reflect in the lower half of the window and thus cut off visibility.i have to wear sunglasses whenever i drive it and even so, need to be very careful not to hit a pedestrian etc. I called toyota national but tina c. (case #1910213249) denied having any knowledge of complaints about this.very dangerous feature and after being a life-long toyota owner, i am ready to switch.

The vehicle was stationary and when i went to drive my vehicle i found a stress crack on the wind shield starting from the top at the passenger side and it cracked toward the driver side.i found this to be a safety issue, so i conducted some research and found that this is not the first time that a stress crack has occurred in the toyota vehicles so this was not an isolated incident. I took the vehicle to the toyota dealer, where i purchased it anda glass specialist conducted an inspection and he confirmed that it was a manufactured defect.this is cause for concern because i was told that even though it was deemed as a manufactured defect that the windshield will not be replaced by the dealer.so through no fault of my own, i was told that i had to put in an insurance claim by a toyota manager.this is a safety issue and an investigation should be conducted on these vehicles.

The clips on the front bumper above the wheel broke while driving and the bumper keeps falling off and never been in a wreck. Trying to start a class action suit because i talked to four others at the toyota dealership who had the same problem
