Heard news report of toyota airbag recall back in 2013. Took car to dealership and had that issue resolved. Then in june 2014, another recall discussed on tv news and received letter in the mail stating my front passenger airbag inflator was not replaced and replacement is required. However, the letter further states that there is "no remedy available" and it further states that you should not use your vehicle if at all possible.this is an outrageous statement on the part of toyota.as i am the only caregiver to my elderly mother (89 yrs old), it is imperative that i have a safe operating vehicle to take her to oncologists, radiology appointments, dental appointments and primary care check-ups on a weekly basis.my vehicle needs to be repaired before a tragedy occurs with a fatality ending. This is not acceptable and toyota will and should be held responsible to get these repairs done now verses later.to say there is "no remedy available" is like telling a victim that there is no way to find the criminal because they lack the proper equipment in the lab to solve the crime!

I brought my car to toyota due to a recall (sra, ecu).after toyota performed work the seat belt audible alarm does not function and is therefore dangerous.toyota could not find problem after spending six hours.driving without functioning seat belt alarm is dangerous.i havecopies of toyota dealer work orders.dealer will not fix problem they caused by installing the recall.. I keep getting recall letters.so i call the number and the person claimed i could make an appointment and it coyld be done in 1 or 2 hours. That is what the letters claim. I make an appointment but when i show up at toyota the have no appointment for me.but he claims it will take a "couple hours". Okay i will wait.so he signs me up and says be back at 2 pm.so now its gone from 1 hour min to 4 hrs min. My car sitd ina parking lot for 1 hour and i have an "apoointment". Those aholes claim they want to fix my car but thrn they want to jerk me aroumd. I scheduled my day for 2 hours.if its gonna take 4 hrs dont say 1 or 2.this day costs me alot of money taking off for this bullshit. Anyway i made a good faith effort but if youre gonna llie to me jerk me around and screw up my schedule then they are trying to discourage people from going thru the incredible hassle to fix the vehicle.

Got the takata recall. Last spring, we received a letter from motorcars toyota, cleveland heights that they had the parts so we made an appointment. When we arrived at the appointment we were told they did not have the parts and we would be informed when they were in. Never received a letter. This month received another notice of recall. Contacted motorcars toyota again. They said that they did not have the parts and would not for 2 months. We contacted another dealership in cleveland, metro toyota, and they made an appointment the following friday, then did the repair.clearly motorcars toyota is not pursuing this recall like other dealerships. If someone in the cleveland hts area is hurt as a result, we would be happy to testify against motorcars toyota.

There is a real concern that there is an issue with the airbags and there are no parts readily available to resolve what we are being told is a dangerous situation.families are being told to not use the front seat of their cars.another option is to ask the dealer for a loaner.i don't see the dealer having that many loaner cars.most families only have one car and it needs to accommodate the members, which is our situation.we are really concerned about the timeliness of this resolution.

I looked up my vehicles recalls and noticed that there is one related to airbags. Coincidently i do have an air bag light lit on my car and it seems like my model year is susceptible to shorts in the system. I contacted the dealer and they told me that they have a 6 week or more wait on the recall and they will contact me. I find this to unacceptable for a safety feature.

Takata recall:i was told that the recall takes 3 hours.i can not be without a car for 3 hours.i tried to call the nearest toyota dealership and they couldn't even schedule this appointment over the phone.they said they were busy and would have to have an "adviser" call me back.i will need a rental car paid for in order to get this service done.i would think that this would the utmost of importance and systems/personnel would be in place to handle this more efficiently and more timely.since this is the manufacturers'negligence,i expect toyota to deliver on it's legal commitment to pay for all costs associated with this burden.if it takes 3 hours, i need a rental car for 3 hours.

Safety recall dsb from toyota is for a fault in the ecu. I had the problem during the first recall over a year ago but they had not replaced the faulty ecu. I have been talking to multiple toyota dealerships who have been telling me that the part for the recall is not available and keep having me call back every 6 months.it has been well over a year of trying to have the repair done for a knownproblem on my car and i have gotten no answers as to when they will have parts. I do not feel it is safe driving a vehicle with a potential of the air bags deploying at any point. I find it hard to believe that well over a year after this has happened toyota still can dodge providing parts for the repair.

Our airbag light came on, and we had the car checked by airbag service of utah. They found that the spiral cable was defective, so a new part was ordered and replaced. Toyota recalled vehicles with the same spiral cable issue, but only beginning with model year 2005. Ours is a 2004 model, and we feel that the expenses we put into replacing this part should be reimbursed as part of the recall issues.

My vehicle has been recalled due to the passenger front air bag since june 10, 2014, and a remedy is still not available. I have spoken with toyota twice over the past 3 weeks and they are unable to give me any timeline on when a remedy may be available. Toyota sent an 'urgent safety recall' concerning the srs ecu on my toyota. The letter stated: 'this is an important safety recall; toyota has prepared sufficient parts for vehicles registered in your location.' i scheduled an appointment with authorized toyota dealer charles barker toyota in virginia beach, va, and scheduled an appointment to have the work performed. I left the car for the required work, and picked it up later.i stopped at a store on the way home and called my wife, and she told me that the service people had called and said they had to order a part. Up to this point, no one had explained to me that the repairs had not been made to my car and that i would need to schedule it for a return visit. I called and spoke to service advisor derrick williams, and he told me that they do not stock the computers and have to order them.toyota has not prepared sufficient parts for vehicles registered in my area, and it is preposterous that toyota expects me to bring my car back for a second service call to replace a part that should be stocked.

I received a safety recall notice from toyota about 6 months ago, telling me that the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit (srs ecu) has been recalled and needs to be replaced.(nhtsa recall id 15v285)at that time, i was told that parts were not available to replace the srs ecu, but that i would be told at a later date when they were available so that i could have this issue fixed.earlier this week, i got another recall notice for the same issue.all they told me in this newest notice is that the problem still exists and that parts are *still* not available to replace the srs ecu.their recommendation is to not have anyone sit in the front passenger seat until i am able to have this problem fixed.this is unacceptable.i have to take my father to a doctor's appointment in a month.he is over 6 feet tall.i am *not* going to make him sit in the back seat between two child seats.i am certainly not going to make him drive himself as his doctor has insisted that he have a ride to and from his procedure. I have contacted toyota directly, and have been told by the person who answered the phone that they have *no idea* when these parts will be available.this is completely unacceptable and a fine example of poor customer service.these parts need to be produced, tested, and made available as quickly as possible.

Pursuant to toyota's website, a recall exists for my vin which states, "in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants."a related article on nhtsa's website indicates that owners of cars with such a recall are "urged to take immediate action."the recall date was nearly five months ago (june 10, 2014).i called the local dealer (toyota of manhattan) to ensure that if i brought the car in, a replacement part was in stock, and they told me the car would be repaired if i brought it in.i brought the car in the following day (10/28/14) and was advised hours later that there is no remedy yet for this recall.this was confirmed by a call to toyota, who told me, contrary to the information linked to my vin on their website, that this doesn't affect my vehicle.toyota (and all other companies using the defective air bags at issue) should have a remedy available for all owners of affected vehicles, and should provide consistent information between their website, dealer service shops, and phone centers.the dealership wasted hours of my time by telling me i could bring the car in, and toyota doesn't have a fix for a major safety issue affecting hundreds of thousands of cars.

A car crossed my lane from a parking lot causing me to "t-bone" the other vehicle at 40mph. The airbag inflated with a huge force and noise, hitting me in the face, chest and right arm--knocked me out and left me dazed for a while after. There was what i thought was white smokethat filled up the driver and front passenger area.when i got my belongings out of my vehicle several days later, i noticed little bits of what looked like some flecks of dark metal or plastic on the floorboard and passenger seat. I sustained contusions and multiple abrasions to my chest and right arm, two dislocated ribs, a torn rotator cuff and three bulging cervical disks. I had contusions and abrasions on my knees.

I have not yet had an incident. Based on toyota recommendation, i do not allow anyone (including dogs, or heavy objects) to ride in the passenger front seat (or the back seat). My vehicle is still potentially dangerous for me, the driver. I would apply for an on/off switch for the airbags, but, it is not available for my car. I want that airbag de-activated. I need to get to work, and, i can not afford to replace this unsafe vehicle. I have already been waiting almost 1 year for a fix to the exploding airbag. I am also waiting for the fix to the bad electronic unit that could fire the airbag. How do i get your permission to make my car safe for me to drive by de-activating the passenger side airbag? i am already considering removing the passenger front seat, mounting it on the roof, and parking it in front of the local dealership with deathtrap painted all over it.

Just over a week ago i received a letter from toyota about a front passenger airbag safety recall (remedy notice). I promptly called the closest dealership (with whom i have had dealings twice in the past) to set up an appointment for the service. After a lengthy conversation i was told that a special department there would have to call me back to set up a time for the repair.i expected i would hear from someone that day . . . Or the next . . . But nothing has happened. I have taken my car in for recall work before at this dealership and been displeased both times with their work.clearly, i am not reporting an accident (yet), but i am concerned that this dealership couldn't care less about this repair; i'm sure they do not make money from carrying out this service. Can you pass this complaint on to toyota motor sales, u.s.a., inc. Or let me know how to contact them. Because this reflects on their company.

Nearly a month after hearing about recall on news, called my local toyota dealership.they told me i had to wait for the recall to be mailed to me. After receiving the recall notice in the mail, i promptly took my car into the toyota dealership where they told me my car is one of few that need the entire computer replaced and it would have to be ordered.it has been two months since and all i get from the dealership is, it is on backorder.received safety recall notice (interim) in mail from toyota, june 15, 2013.called customer experience center at 1-888-270-9371, was answered in a lazy individual who with just the year and make of the car said the parts are not ready yet.is my car safe?should it continue to be driven?when will the defective parts/computer be replaced.

Date 10/20/2007thissaturday morning at 9:05 am,after mass at the miami archdioceses, i had a most unpleasant experience with my2004 toyota corolla. When i moved to reverse my car from my parking place,i experienced a sudden dramatic increase from the car's idle and a release of the acceleration, causing the vehicle to move backward very fast. I immediately put the car in neutral, but did not stop and then, in a few seconds to forward to avoid hitting any persons or vehiclesin my back in the church parking lot. In total about 45 feet backward and forward, perhaps 30 secondsplus in total . I then crashed on the wall of st. Martha rectory. The car was uncontrollable and the frontof my car's hood, front doors were badly damaged, (especially the right side, where my sick wife sat )damages with a preliminaryestimate of $ 5864.i have two concerns:a) sudden acceleration when car is started and inability to stop it .b) no airbag systemdeployment in spite of the strength of the impactand having the entire front bumper of the car destroyed.2)i have lost my trust in my present toyota corolla car(i have had one before and a camry, and theirperformance was satisfactory). I would like to have a very careful inspection of our vehicle, its capacity for suddenuncontrollable acceleration, lack of air bag protection, and the like.

Takata airbags/ while the car was in motion slowly turning into a parking space, the airbags deployed. The airbags impeded the driver from controlling the car and caused a crash into a building. This happened on a private parking lot. The car had recently been serviced for the takata recall. Nothing was struck to engage the impact sensors. The road and parking lot was free from obstacles. We want to know if non compliant service for the airbag recall created a failure which caused the airbags to deploy. We are having the car inspected by toyota and want to know if an impartial inspector can be present to oversee the procedure.

"takata recall" i keep receiving recall notices, but when i call the dealership, they act like they don't know what i am talking about and when i call the 1800 number they act like everything is taken care of. Then the dealership calls and they don't know what is going on again. I have given up on the safety recall for the time being. I hope that as time passes the system will get smoothed out where this can actually get fixed, maybe. It does not seem that fixing the airbag issues are a serious priority in person, only on paper.

I received a safety recall letter from toyota motor sales, torrance, ca on 28nov14.the letter strongly recommended that i immediately take my 2004 toyota corolla to any authorized dealer where the front passenger inflator assembly would be replaced at no charge to me.i contacted the service department at valley hi toyota, victorville, ca, who i have used for all service on both my toyotas since moving to ca in dec 2013.i was informed that the recall on my vehicle was temporarily suspended as toyota hasn't decided how it will address the issue and to call back in a few weeks.unsatisfied with this response, i called the toyota customer experience center where i was informed that because i live in ca, an area lacking consistently high absolute humidity, my vehicle is not authorized for a recall.this is absolutely unsatisfactory.as a military officer, since 2004 i have lived in texas twice, arizona, north carolina, georgia twice, kentucky, and california.i would count living in houston, tx, fort bragg, nc, fort benning, ga, and fort knox, ky as high absolute humidity areas.i don't understand what toyota has decided the threshold is for determining that my vehicle has been exposed to consistently high absolute humidity.i will take legal action if the front passenger airbag in my vehicle deploys abnormally in a crash, injuring the occupant.i will also never purchase another toyota as safety is not their top priority.

Toyota has not been able to provide a fix for their recall nhtsa recall number: 15v043 since january 2015. This is way too long. Their new solution (mailed to us in august 2015) is to avoid seating anyone in the front passenger seat - which is a ridiculous and unacceptable request. They need to fix this now.other related recalls: nhtsa recall number:15v285

I contacted toyota motor corporation concerning a recall on the air bag of the vehicle noted above.in speaking to first michelle and then janee, i complained that this vehicle is used by my son.since there are often other people also inside of the vehicle i have a concern that the air bag, when deployed, will cause injury to the passengers, mostly children.i asked toyota that simply not having passengers in the vehicle as a temporary measure until the resolution is available, with no time table of expected completion, is unacceptable.i requested to file a complaint in which janee informed me that she would take the complaint.after the complaint was filed i asked what the next step was; she stated that there were no other steps.she explained that toyota simply keeps the complaint without further follow-up or cataloging.when i asked about a rental vehicle such as what gm provided for their recalls, she stated that toyota will not be doing that and again recommended that the guidelines of not carrying passengers be followed.i find the resolution by toyota to this problem as unreasonable and unacceptable; particularly in that i am force to accept all of the financial liability should someone become injured during the operation of this vehicle.toyota should be held responsible in providing a rental vehicle, at no charge to me, until the parts are available and installed.

Toyota issued out a recall on my vehicle. The recall was on 03-04 corolla's and the issue is that the airbag could deploy at any moment or in the event of an accident it would not deploy. They fixed thecomputer, sensor assy, the airbag it self and the harness. However, they would not replace a cable(knowing that this part was a faulty part) since they said it wasn't part of the recall. Now with this cable its called spiral cable, the reason why it needs to be replaced as well because it could send the wrong signal and still deploy my airbag with out being in an accident or not deploy in the event of an accident. To me they didn't fix the issue.toyota advise me over phone that my vehicle was outside their warranty they said that they wont be able to replace that part and its up to me as the customer to pay for it out of pocket. What makes me upsetis that toyota knows this part was faulty and should be part of the recall but yet they fail to include it in the recall. What happens, if im driving and the cable sends the wrong signal and the airbag deploys. I could hurt myself, my passengers and other drivers. The damage could be high since they're many drivers that drive corollas. I believe you need to act on this since it could hurt drivers, which can cause insurance rates to increase which can cause drivers to drive less in return hurting the economy.

We have received our 4th notice to check our airbags.we just got the car back about two months ago and got another letter to bring our car in to check the car airbags.the 3rd time it was the same. We lost the use of our car for a day and was told there was no need to fix anything.since repairs are only done during the week when i work this check is very inconvenient. The checks were done in the last few years with no changes and no repairs done.for the whole dealership, i was told there is just one person who can do this check.appointment must be made two or more months in advance. I am wondering why this same procedure keeps repeating with no remedy.my wife who takes in the car is not given a ride back home or ride to the dealership and must find her own way to and from the dealer.

Airbag warning light was on following the first airbag recall service. Dealership refuses to take responsibility, claiming they only replaced the passenger side airbag, and that the cause of the service light is the spiral cable, which is in the steering wheel. Dealership must have checked the driver side airbag in order to see if the inflator needed to be replaced, which must be what tripped the light.

Takata recall; i had an appointment with autonation toyota south austin in october 2014 to fix the air bag issue.i arrived at my appointment and waited for about 4-6 hours only to be told that they did not have the part that they needed to fix my car and remedy the recall issue.this was after they identified all kinds of other problems that they claimed needed to be fixed.it was infuriating that they were not upfront about not having the part when i initially arrived.they then told me that they would give me a rental car because of the other services i agreed to but when i arrived at the rental car counter, they proceeded to charge me all these additional fees.i cancelled the entire request and toyota never fixed my issue.i complained and never received any kind of response from the dealership.see attachment.i still drive my car everyday with the faulty air bags because i don't have time to wait for another 6 hours to be told that the dealership does not have the part.i attempted to schedule another appointment in san marcos but they also claimed they would not know what part was needed and if they had it until they inspected the vehicle.they have the vin number so i don't know why it's so complicated to just order the part ahead of time so my car can be fixed on the day of the appointment and i don't have to miss two days of work.this recall is obviously not a priority for the dealerships yet i'm constantly getting calls and postcards that i need to get the recall issues fixed.perhaps toyota and the nhtsa should train these dealerships to make this recall a priority.time passes and i keep putting myself at risk with these faulty airbags and after three years, i still have not received proper service to fix these issues in an efficient manner that doesn't lead to 2 full days of loss of pay.

I have been sent two letters from toyota stating that i have a defective airbag and not to let anyone sit in the front passenger's seat. I have been waiting months for this to be corrected. When i call the toyota dealerships they tell me that they have yet to receive the replacement parts. This is a ticking bomb ready to explode and toyota is not resolving the issue in a timely manner. I hope you can help pressure them to speed up production on these replacement airbags before a serious injury occurs.many thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide me in the issue.

Took my car to have airbag replace twice in september 2018 and was told on national back order. Then february 2019 was told they had airbag went twice was told they had it when i first walked in and sat there for three hours for them to tell me that they didn't have it and didn't know when.got a phone call from them telling me they may or may not have it in the middle of march but sure they wouldn't i asked about the buy back and about the toyota lemon law i keep getting the run around and i'm tried of it this is my only way of going i have put off dr appt in northport al due with the fact i don't feel safe driving it and also was told not to drive it.

Is the car safe since the airbag recall takata said that the cannot accept or deny it and toyota said they did not know ask takata. I saw the class action lawsuit and they sent me the card for 9997 at the start lile they were going to buy back my car or cut me a check so i could squash it and get another one. Please

I called toyota, marina del rey, ca, in order to make an appointment to have the airbags inspected and fix.i received a recall notice in april 2016.i was told that they did not have the part and there is a waiting list for the actual part.i have called toyota several times just to hear that they are still waiting for the part and they will call me once it is in.in the meantime, my car is part of this recall and no one has try to fix the problem.

I was driving my 2004 corolla through an intersection, when another vehicle turned in front of me. We collided. I was traveling approximately 40 mph before i started braking a couple moments before impact, so i imagine i was going at least 30-35 at the time of impact. Severe damage to the front left corner of my vehicle; it was undriveable after. Complaint: no airbags deployed in my corolla! the other car was going less than 10 mph when our cars collided, but her airbags deployed. The toyota website says that airbags won't deploy unless it is a "severe frontal collision". What qualifies as "severe"? no response yet from toyota dealer.

I received a safety recall letter as well as couple messages about the airbag safety recall formy vehicle, i made an appointment last december 24, 2014 in the toyota dealership for that specific recall nearby where i live which is the doxon toyota in auburn, washington, when we came in for the appointment the service specialist [xxx], did not even inspect our car but automatically told us that the available parts is on back order and they don't know when it is coming gave us 3 options to leave our car and they will give us a loaner with so many restrictions on the loaner vehicle that they will loan us, disable the airbag on the vehicle and they are not responsible is something happens to the vehicle while we were driving it and just drive our car and they will call us once the parts comes in. Anyway we decided to keep our car followed up with them today 1/2/2015 spoke to [xxx] and she states that the parts might not be available for the next 6 months. It is very frustrating because they have that don't care attitude just because its not their vehicle that is affected or it is just the way toyota motors deals with their customers. Takata recall i contacted my dealer in may 2016 to schedule the srs/ecu repair and was told they needed to order the parts. I called the dealer july 11 and was told the srs part was not available and it could be sometime maybe months before the parts would be available. He stated it was takata's fault and there was nothing the dealer could do.i would like to know if what the dealer is telling me is correct.

"takata recall" this complaint is not about the airbag itself.it hasn't been deployed.this is about lustine toyota dealer in woodbridge, va.i made an appointment for the airbag recall.should have taken one hour.after two hours of waiting and people working there trying to sell me another car, they said they had no parts to fix it and told me to come back at another time.a few weeks later i made an appointment and went in again and waited two hours and the same thing happened again.i got a card from the man there who was working with me and it says he's a salesman not a mechanic.i noticed this after i completed the second appointment.before the appointments i told the person the reason i was coming in.i will try another dealer after i finish filing this complaint.

I believed my airbag was fixed.i took my toyota corolla in to the dealership in november.they advised me they could fix my airbag.they called me to pick it up and stated it was fixed.however i got a new safety recall in the mail saying my corolla has a airbag recall.i called the toyota company as stated on the form and the customer service lady stated that there is another recall and the first fix was not a fix.i do not understand.have i been driving around in my car with the passenger seat airbag not fixed when i was told it was fixed.this is not safe.that means for 3 months i have been driving around with an unsafe airbag that could kill me or my passenger. Toyota is saying that they have no parts and no fix at this time.but legally they are to notify me.this is very stressful and just plain wrong. It's not safe and they are putting my life and family in jeopardy. I do not believe they are taking this seriously or working fast enough with a solution. She kept telling me that they are most concerned with the gulf states.well i live a hour and a half from the gulf.secondly the test results show they are not sure if humidity plays a part in the airbag issue.i believe toyota should be offering a safe solution to the problem or offering us rental cars.

A complaint was filed with you on 4/9/13 regarding the recall of toyota's for airbag malfunctions, however, to date, i have not heard anything back re my complaint. Now, i receive another recall notice for the supplemental restraint system (srs electronic control unit (ecu) recalls.each time, i called the toyota dealership (dch brunswick toyota, 732.418.7888) and was told, "sorry, we do not have the parts to correct this issue and you will be sent another recall letter; if this was a serious issue, we would do something about it so don't worry.well, i would consider a malfunctioning air bag to be a very serious issue if it were to malfunction while i was driving on a major interstate freeway and couldn't see where i was going due to this malfunctioning airbag issue, wouldn't you???this would cause a major traffic accident with fatalities!toyota advises that you do not drive your car, however, i am a caregiver to my elderly mom and i need my car to get her where she needs to go as she has stage ii cancer. What is being done to fix this troublesome issue and why can't they get the parts for it???if i can take the time to send this complaint to you, it would be a common courtesy for someone to contact me with a resolution.thank you.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v312000 (air bags) however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 45 mph toward an intersection, the contact felt lightheaded, and collided with an immobile vehicle at the stop sign.the contact depressed the brakes, prior to the collision, but was unable to avoid the accident.the air bags did not deploy, however the seat belt restrained the contact.there were no warning lights illuminated prior to the accident.the contact suffered a strained neck.the police and fire department were present but the contact refused to be taken to a hospital.a police report was taken.the owner's manual stated the air bags should deploy at a minimum of 25 mph.the police officer ordered the vehicle not to be driven because the air bags could suddenly deploy.the vehicle was towed to a body shop to be later be inspected by the insurance company.the dealership and the manufacturer would be contacted.

2004 toyota corolla le with 13000 miles and equiped with front and side airbags.all four airbags did not deploy even with a total of 3 front collision and 4 roll overs on an interstate travelling 55 mph.

Car accident:hit a wall at 45m/h or higher, air bags did not deploy and front passenger had a lot of bruises on the chest, arm, stomach and pain for several weeks. Driver had and elbow problem with pain and enable him to lift heavy weight, because all the impact force was supported by his arms on the steering wheel.

The consumer was involved in afrontal collision and none of the air bags deployed.

I was driving my 2004 toyota corolla and was involved in a front end collision and the airbag did not deploy.

While driving the driver collided with the vehicle in front.neither frontal air bags deployed on impact. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection.the cause has not been determined at this time.please provide further details.

While driving 50 mph, the consumer was involved in a frontal collision.upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. This caused the driver to sustain minor injuries.the vehicle was towed to a body shop.the cause has not been determined at this.please provide further details.

A vehicle made a left turn across the highway in front of me. My vehicle was totaled from the impact to the front left. The air bag did not deploy.

My daughter had a serious accident in a 2004 toyota corolla and none of the airbags deployed.

Consumer's vehicle rearendedanother vehicle at 25 mph. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy.consumer struck her head on the steering wheel and received an injury requiring medical attention.

Rear end collision involving 2004 toyota corolla and nissan xterra.upon collision the car's engine was revving and the ignition had to be turned off to get the car to stop moving.the entire front end of the corolla was damaged and the air bags did not deploy.not sure if the accelerator stuck.definitely think the air bags should have deployed.the corolla was totaled.

On sept 1, 2010, my daughter was driving a 2004 toyota corolla north in the left lane(two lanes north, two lanes going south) on a state road going approx. 35mph.she was behind a 2009 nissan altima.suddenly from a county road a 1995 lincoln mark 8 pulled out on the rightto cross the state road turning left or south.the nissan swerved into the right lane going n. And clipped the mark 8 while my daughter slammed on her breaks.the car locked up, leaving skid marks and she t-boned the mark 8.her car was totaled.the air bags did not deploy.her front end was pushed toward the cabin and would not turn off or move.resulting in shoulder, neck, chest, breast, and back injuries with a swollen tongue from biting the sides.these injuries are all soft tissue injuries which will take some time to heal.she had a passenger.hisinjuries were a right swollen leg and back injuries. (6 injured altogether)my deep concern is the history on this car is two frontal car crashes and the airbags did not deploy.

The air bag light appeared on the dashboard until the vehicle was turned off.the driver had taken the vehicle to the dealer for an analysis and the mechanic noticed that the air bag module needed replacement.the brakes had been replaced 5 times.the brakes screeched, banged and pulled when they were applied. *scc

The vehicle i believe has an ecm (engine control module) problem.since the first incident where the vehicle wanted to shut off at a stop light, the vehicle erratic rpm fluctuation when the vehicle is at a stop or hesitates when taking off. Toyota has done a recall on some of the 2005 thru 2008 models and i believe this model should be included since it uses the same ecm and has the same engine as the other models

Every time it rains and creates a water puddle on the road, when i drive my car through it, water goes up under the car causing it to lose power, to momentarily shut down and i lose my steering. The battery light comes on as well.also when i come to a stop the car starts shaking or vibrating and it seems like it wants to shut off.

Takata recalltakata air bags were recalled never properly fixed by the service people who denied the recall. Catalytic converter went out at less than 50000 miles and toyota refused to replace it under the standard warranty. Electrical problems with radio system, clock, hazard lights, and dashboard lights which work at intermittent times.

Without any indication of a potential problem, my car lost complete power while driving it. In addition, my speedometer was stuck on 50 (i just got off the interstate & was going residential speed), my gas gauge reflected i had a full tank (i actually had a half of a tank) and my temp gauge said my engine was completely cool. I don't know what caused this to happen, but i'm lucky that it did not happen to me while i was on the interstate! let me clarify the facts here- total power loss while driving, steering wheel locked up, gauges - including the speedometer- while at a complete stop were stuck on inaccurate readings, no indication of an issue prior to it stalling! (prior to the car dying on me- headlights and interior lights were bright, radio worked, gauges were accurate. There was no loud noise when this happened, it is not the timing chain, the starter and battery are brand new, there was no hesitation and no trouble when starting it up.) i have not been able to get the car to start since. Did not respond to a jump.frommy understanding, there should have been some order in which power is lost - example radio first- dimming lights, etc. Before power is lost to the entire car while driving.

I was on the highway 605 freeway in california on december 24,2014 at 10: am . I was driving 60mph and suddenly felt a very strong shake in my car that continued for about two minutes and then i suddenly went from 60mph to 15 mph . I was really scared and concerned about this matter. If i didn't have control i would have gotten cars behind me or myself in a major accident due to this malfunction. I was very shaken up and stressed. I have never been this scared in my vehicle. I drove my car in search for an open mechanic and found one he did a full inspection which was very stressful due to the fact that it was a christmas eve . I really have been a loyal customer to toyota my whole family and i really would like this to get taken care of. I don't see the need for me to spend more money when its a toyota problem.

I hate the fact that the engine lights comes on and my car in under manufacturer warranty and i have to pay to find out why my light came on the excuse after paying 50.00 dollars in my gas top was loosen that was bull it came on again.so why when i left the top off intentionally it didn't come on again?

Dear sir or ma'am,my mother was told by hilltop toyota in richmond, ca that the recall notice was an interim notice, and did not perform any remedy procedures. However the recall notice recommended us to take the vehicle to dealer immediately. Therefore we believe such action is deemed irresponsible and there may be other consumers who could have experienced the same thing.

My car has had a recall that according to toyota they do not have a solution for. I have been unable to get anyone to travel with me in my car due to the recall notice indicating that the sub-wire harness (filter) and the supplemental restraint system (srs) electronic control unit (ecu) has not been installed. I don't have the possibility of buying another car and so i feel that my life is in danger as well. On 04-13-15 anew case was opened to resolve this issue (case#1504132776). I later followed up and spoke to sabrina (manager at the toyota located in west columbia, sc in july 2015. She also said that no remedy has been released yet.i would like to ask for someone to give urgent consideration to my case. I feel that i cant even sell this car because this recall lowers the price of the vehicle and my conscience does not allow to pass on to someone else a danger like this. Will someone please help!

Electrical problems engine light on poor gas mileage took to various auto repair locations to determine problems numerous codes confirmed by state vehicle emission testing facility had to take a waiver paid thousands of dollars to various auto service locations to have parts replaced often the same parts being replaced by camelback toyota salem boys auto repair brakes plus check engine light remained on car mat drivers side kept getting caught under accelerator replaced due to safety problems with wheels brakes paint chipped flaked off list goes on now recalls for srs airbags and the list goes on.

Most important: we do not drive the car now. Unable to get answers to possible solutions.called toyota they said they cannot assist if the problem is not happening when they get the car.this problem is intermittent at best.i asked if they had problems such as mine below and can give me some idea and they said they cannot assist me without having the problem occur while they have the car.we cannot drive the car for it may shut down on us.latest problem: the vehicles engine shut down while driving 30 mph. Tried to restart the vehicle and everything comes on as if it was going to start up (meaning: the problem is not battery), but would not crank over, no noise, nothing.after playing with the fuses, and waiting a bit the car was able to crank over and start.a week before the latest (above):the car was in park and running, the engine shut down, tried starting the car and same scenario as above, we let the car rest overnight and the next morning it started up. (we didn't do anything to the car).years ago:the same thing as above except, i went to go use the car, it would not start, had noise and lights but no cranking of engine, nothing (same scenario as above). But, after letting time go by the car would start. (i changed the key to a backup key i had and it started up.)others have this problem as we have tried to find out what the problem is, we came across the same scenarios but no solution.

I was driving at 70 mph on the interstate when the car stalled out.we were able to pull to the side of the road luckily.it did start again but stalled again if i went over 40 mph.i had replaced the transmission the week before and had a transmission place check it out.they said the transmission is fine and that the error code is for the ecm.i had taken the care back to my transmission place (certified transmission in bellevue ne.) and he had the same answer for me. I attempted to work with toyota on this through their customer complaint dept.they referred me to nick anderson (customer care manager) at bellevue toyota.he didn't care that the car is unsafe to drive or that it stalled on us going 70 mph on the interstate.all he cared about is that the care is over miles on the extended warranty (80,000) and he wouldn't do anything for me at all.i believe in companies that back there product and i no longer believe in toyota.i have found out that there is a very strong chance that the reason i had to replace the transmission on this auto is because of the ecm that was misdiagnosed as transmission issues.i believe this to be true because i am having the same stalling issues that i had before the new transmission was put in.i feel that toyota should at the very least repair/replace the faulty ecm at no additional cost to me.

I have received recall letter from toyota to fix the srs electrical issue. I went to the toyota dealer and they fixed the issue. But i am able to hear the electrical noise after the fix also.

Speedometer stopped at 299,999.

On two separate occasions while trying to start the vehicle engine would not turn over.consumer felt that the problem was thebattery.vehicle is currently at dealer.

My car on an intermittent basis will not start after turning the key in the ignition. There is no cranking whatsoever.after several attempts of turning the key, the car finally started. I took the car to the dealership on the first incident and the nothing wrong could be detected. In april 2006, it has occurred again as the car will not start until several attempts of turning the key in the ignition.i am taking the car to dealership again on monday, april 17th, 2006 to find out what is the matter with the car.

My car on an intermittent basis will not start as well.....there is no cranking whatsoever. Although upon turning the key all the lights on the dashboard light up in a normal manner, there is absolutely no sound from the engine. After either a few tries or roll starting the vehicle (manual transmission)....it will start. I brought it to the dealer once and they originally thought it was the battery, then the starter *which they proceeded to replace, then after a few days the same problem occurred again....i am bringing it back to the dealer.

Consumer's vehicle came to a stop at a red light when hearing three beeps coming from the car, the car died. She tried to restart it but car would not turn back on. Consumer then turned on hazard lights which flashed quickly then turned off. Consumer got out of the car, looked back, and saw fire coming out of the bottom, which then spread to the hood and windshield. This was caused by an electrical malfunction.

My 2004 toyota corolla surges for 1-2 seconds while at stop or red light. It feels like it is going to take off by itself.this happens more often in warm weather than cold weather.i brought my car to the dear and complained about this problem.they told me it is normal.this can be over all serious safety problem.

Ecu (srs) & takata recall

My 2004 toyota corrolla seems to be steering improperly. Upon turning the steering wheel to a straight position the whole car seems to swerve and become almost uncontrollable. I have just barely avoided serveral accidents and in wet condtions the problem is worse. I replaced the tires and had them check the alignment on the vehicle and it still continues to be an issue. I took the car to my dealer and was advised that they could not replicate the problem but have had at least four other persons drive the vehicle and they all have commented on the steering/control problem even passengers in the vehicle notice the problem as you can feel it while driving or riding in the vehicle. My dealer also states they did not see any broken or loose parts that would cause the control problem.

My 2004 toyota corolla had an unexpected acceleration while driving home from work. My mother (the driver at the time) removed her foot from the accelerator pedal and while braking the vehicle accelerated at full speed right before going over a speed bump near to our residence. My mother crashed into the side walk and she was able to stop the car using the parking brake and eventually shut it down. We were able to take the car home, where the car is currently parked but the car won't start again. Luckily, we didn't have any injuries, fire or mayor crash into anything. We contacted toyota in west palm beach florida and they refused to further investigate this issue because the car is too old. After all events, death and accidents related to toyota unexpected acceleration, i believe this incident needs a deep investigation but i don't know how to proceed about it or if i should ignored and just fix the car.

I bought a 2004 toyota corolla ce in july 2004 and today the engine light came on and stayed on. My girlfriend has a 2002 toyota corolla, and she told me , after i bought mine, thatengine light started coming on for no discernible reason a few months after purchase. Dealer charged her for a part and labor on her new car to fix the engine ligth problem.this is obviously aknown model problem. Why doesn't he manufacturer fix it before selling the car?

Car engine made noise , pulled off highway, towed to shop , told engine dead and needed to be replaced at a cost of $5,500.00 -vehicle only has 66,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla.while driving between 5-10 mphthe vehicle shakes violently. Also the engine continued to reeve while idling.the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility for inspection. Since the mechanic could not identify the cause of the failure, he could not provide a remedy.the failure mileage was 2629.the current mileage was 4300.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact was driving in the highway when the contact noticed a burning smell from the engine area. When the contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealership, the dealer informed the contact that the radiator was cracked; the dealer could not determine if the burning smell was caused by the cracked radiator or the engine overheating. The failure mileage was 74,766. The current mileage was approximately 80,000.

My 2004 toyota corolla suddenly had engine problems while driving, making a horrible metallic clanking as the car stalled.after having it towed to the nearest repair facility, the diagnosis was that pieces of the engine literally broke apart as if the metal was fatigued.the mechanic could not explain how this happened with only 117,000 miles on the car.it took over a month to find a used engine and scrape together the money needed for repairs.the entire engine was replaced, for a total of $2500.i was also forced to rent a car during this time, and the car rental amount is around $600.

2004 corolla ce has horrible rotten egg smell car has only 550 miles on it. Dealer say to switch gas brands.i did and it is still overwhelming outside of the car.*la

Intermittent stalling while driving at various speeds. Consumerpulled the vehicleof the road. Unable to restart until 30-60 seconds later. Dealer inspected vehicle on several occasions, and was unable to duplicate the problem.

Car suddenly stalls, sometimes while at a stop but has happened when moving.won't start for a little while then will start. Has happened 3-4 times in the past 5 months.

My vehicle's air conditioner (2004 toyota corolla) is not working properly. The system will work for a few moments (blowing out cold air) and then will start blowing warm to hot air. The fan still works, there is no loud noises and i can hear the compressor engage when i turn the system on. I have researched this problem on the internet and have found that many other people are having the exact same problem and that bringing this fact to your attention many result in a recall of the unit. I have also read that toyota has added and extra plastic piece to the a/c condenser on 2007-2009 models. Thank you for reading this and for standing up for consumers.

Engine will surge when at a stop and unless brake is fully depressed to the floor, vehicle may move forward.this surge is not consistent, occurring between 10-20% of the time and more likely to occur within the first 10 seconds of stopping at a light or to park vehicle after being on highways at higher rates of speed.

Unexpected and without warning while car is in drive and stopped in traffic or at red light, engine idle speed increases when compressor from heating/air conditioner unit engages (when heater/defroster or air conditioner are in use) resulting car to lunge forward. If hard and constant pressure is not applied at all times on brake pedal while stopped, car could lunge forward resulting in; rear-end collision with another car; auto/pedestrian mishap while stopped at a crosswalk or hitting another vehicle board side if at a four-way stop. This design defect needs immediate investigation by nhtsa and if found valid, require toyota to recall and repair all 2004 toyota corolla les at no cost to car owner. *la

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla.on june 1, 2007, the engine failed while idling at a stop light.the contact stated that the battery worked, but the check engine light never illuminated.on june 4, 2007, while driving up a hill and over a railroad track, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 50 mph.the vehicle began to shake.she tried not to put her foot on the brake in fear that the engine would fail again.when she reached the end of the hill, she pulled into a parking lot and the engine failed.she was able to restart the vehicle instantly.the contact turned the vehicle on and off for a period of twenty minutes and in that time frame, the vehicle failed every three minutes.the dealer could not duplicate the failure.the contact stated that no one is ever in the vehicle with her when it fails and she is afraid that she may cause a crash.the engine size was unknown.the current mileage is 55,000 and failure mileage was 54,980.

Unexepected surge of car at a traffic stop. I have a 2004 toyota corolla with 7500 miles, and on several occasions i have stopped at a light or pedestrian crosswalk with my foot securely on the brake pedal and in drive when the car would suddenly lunge forward. There is a potential for a major rear end accident or a pedestrian fatality. Anyone with a similar problem please call me (al) at 203-929-6856.

2004 toyota corolla drive belt cracked at about 5k milesi have a 2004 corolla which is maintained regularly at darcars toyota of silver spring, maryland. When i had my car oil changed at mileage 53200, the service representative told and showed me that my car's drive belt has many, many cracks on it. They told me i need to replace it with a new belt and will be charged $210.toyota officially recommends an initial inspection of drive belt at 60k/72 months, 15k thereafter. It means before 60k miles there should be fine. I sent an email to toyota and asked them if my car has a quality problem. In their reply, they refused to answer my question.toyota is famous for their vehicle excellent quality, but it looks not in my case.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate and attempted to stall. The contact engaged the accelerator pedal so that the vehicle would not stall at all. The vehicle was taken into the dealer where they stated that there was excess carbon build up in the throttle body from a new battery that was installed. The dealer then performed a throttle body cleaning which removed the carbon build up. The contact stated that within the last 3 to 4 months the problem continued tooccur. The dealer was not contacted and there have been no diagnostic test or repairs. The failure mileage was 33000 and the current mileage was 36000. Updated 12/03/10. *ljthe consumer stated it felt as though the engine was going to stall.according to the service invoice, the dealer stated the engine belt was glazed and the tensioner had lack of tension. 2004 corolla ce has horrible rotten egg smell car has only 550 miles on it. Dealer say to switch gas brands. I did and it is still overwhelming outside of the car.

I purchased a corolla ce in oct 2003. I had not had the car more than a month when i started to smell a sulfer(rotten egg) smell. I cotinued to smell this and it did not go away so i took it to the dealer. The dealer showed me a buliten that stated it was not the converter. The dealer then told me that american gashas too much sulfer content and the toyota addmissions were at a higher level then the american gas. I now have 15,000 miles on my car and the smell is still there. I went to trade it in today to get a corolla s model. The deal is not made yet, because i have read that the 2005 corollas have the same problems.

I bought the 2004 toyota corolla brand new, after purchasing the car i noticed a horrible "rotten" egg smell in the vehicle. I took it back to the dealer, to be told that i needed to try another gas station, i did and that did not fix the problem. I still continue to smell it and its bad.i was told that means the "exhaust" system is working properly....i think that is a poor reason for this horrible smell.the car also has a very loud rattling noise that comes from the front drivers side wheel. I've taken it to the dealer several times and nothing has been done to fix the problem. The car also pulls to the left..even after several alignments.i'm really disappointed because this was my first new car purchase. I purchased a toyota because of it's history of having very reliable cars. I'm sorry that i got this car.

Car has smell like rotten eggs, sulfer type, had car repaired and still smells.

Strong sulfur smell that sometimes comes inside the car. I have tried different gas and so far no luck, the smell persists. *la

2004 corolla bought 32 days ago with 92 miles.noticed sulfur smell when exiting vehicle only after first refill -- not noticed with fuel that came with it.dealer said to try different gas and to make sure that my entire tank is empty before filling.basically recommending that i wait.(they did say to fill the tank -- not just put in a couple gallons)after the second refill (and about 16 days since purchase) i noticed that the smell wasn't as bad, but a friend reminded me that it was particularly windy.i later noticed the smell when the wind calmed down.no luck with the third refill either.all of these are at different stations.called the dealer again and they recommended that i now try the higher-octane fuel.needless to say, the days are slowly passing.after talking with sales dept and the service dept about what can be done, they agreed to take it for a drive as soon as they learned that i smelled this from inside the car when driving.i sense that it is a more-serious matter if it gets inside your car.they gave me a loaner for the day -- another corolla le, which also smelled of sulfur.the service manager at the dealership said that he didn't smell anything at all when he drove my car, but he said that my "air-freshener overwhelmed" him.this leads me to believe that he is either lying to me (you can't mistake the smell of sulfur gas) or he has become desensitized to its odor.i have read that sulfur can weaken your ability to smell sulfur for some time.i don't know if the ability to smell sulfur comes back quickly or goes away for a long time.he explained to me that they couldn't do anything.he said it was (you guessed it) the gas.well, now my "grace period" has expired and i would lose at least $1,300 if i took it back and got the pay-off.if they didn't make me wait, i could have had 100% of my money back or a new corolla that doesn't smell. (incident date should be 2004 not 2003)

2004 toyota corolla, close to 3,500 miles. Purchased in july '03. When i run the heat inside the car, a very strong sulfur odor is emitted through the vents. Was told it was the gas, not the car, by both dealer and toyota customer service. I do not get this smell in any other car i ride in, including the '96 corolla i traded in. This release of sulfur oxide into the car interior is a serious health concern that toyota seems to refuse to take an interest in.*la

The catalytic converter on the 2004 toyota corolla started emitting a sulfur dioxide odor.*mrthe catalytic converter was replaced but the smell persisted.the vent flap in the trunk was also replaced but that didn't help either. The consumer stated a second smell was present which smelled like ash or smoke.the dealer said there was nothing they could do about the second smell and they also recommended the consumer changed gas because there was high sulfur in the gas.

Foul egg/sulfur smell while car is operating.smell is noticeable in the interior and exterior of car.at times, this smell is so strong that i begin to feel ill.returned to dealer.dealer instructed me to try different gasolines.this did not work.returned to dealer.repeatedly spoke with service manager, etc.the suggestion to change gasoline was all the dealer could offer.this has not worked and i'm concerned that the sulfur smell may be causing a health problem.

Since i bought the car in sept 2003 it emitted a rotten egg smell through the vents. I went to arbitration in may 2004 and lost because they said that it was the design of the car. The toyota rep said that someone wou ld be caontacting me and that they were aware of the problem. No one contacted me and the dealer would not return my calls. The 800# continued to say it was the gas. I have suffered with horrible headaches and i lost my periphial vission on three ocasions. In feb 2005 i was pulled over sick form the odorand fi again called 800#, they again said it was the gas. I pleaded with the rep to help me and she called me back two days later with a new tsb that came out in may 2004. The dealer reprogramed the ecu and tech smelled odor so they ordered a new cat converter replaced that a reprogramed ecu again. They said it was an internal failure in my cat. If this was the case why was'nt my check engine light going off for the last year and a half? now i have an odor of bad exhaust coming through my vents and toyota wants me to put in the same gas 4xs. I don't feel safe in this car and i can';t imagine what driving with a bad cat for over a year has done to my health and my engine. I have asked toyota to issue me a letter saying that the car is safe since i transport children but they refused.

Carbon monoxide is getting into the vehicle when accelerating from various speeds. The problem was reported to the dealer, andconsumer will take vehicle to the dealer for inspection.

2004 corolla: emission of hydrogen sulfide gas from exhaust system.

Dt:contact states that there was a report on a 2004 toyota corolla regarding the excessive sulfur dioxide odor.contact took the vehicle to the service dealer three times, they replaced the converter and the air filter, this did not rid the car of the smell.

I bought a 2004 toyota corolla type s on december 28, 2003.i've had the car for about 2 months and have noticed an extremely horrible sulfur smell from the vehicle.i have also had the dashboard ripped apart twice, and checked for extremely loud vibrations and noise.the first time, the service department found "nothing wrong, and heard no unusual noises" and the second time, when i test drove it with the technician, they applied some foam around the wiring inside the dash.i can still hear the vibrations and noise in the dashboard whenever i am driving the vehicle.

I bought a 2004 toyota corolla from team toyota.it started emitting a rotten egg smell. We took it to the dealer on the first occurrence and we were guaranteed the smell would go away after the first 5000 miles. I thought that sounded fishy, so i did some research online. I found that many toyotas are emitting the rotten egg smell. So i contacted the dealer again. I told him about my findings. I also told them how aggravated i was with them about lying to me. Low and behold they were aware of the problem the asked me to bring the car in again to be checked.after the car was looked at a second time. I was told that toyota was aware of the problem and that it was the gas and that they are not going to address this issue with me any more. I was even given a letter stating toyotas stance on the rotten egg\sulfur smell issue. I have since contacted a lawyer and im in the process of suing. (there is more to the story but you get the idea).after more research i have found that:epa has been made aware of concerns regarding sulfur odors. It is myunderstanding that in 2002/2003 toyota replaced the nickel basedcatalytic converter lining with a non-nickel containing compound inorder to reduce the exposure of its employees. Nickel is a toxiccompound. We believe that new lining currently in use, specifically in2003 and later toyota models, does not handle the sulfur in gasoline aswell as the former nickel compound. Therefore resulting in the sulfurodor you are noticing in your vehicle.

When car is running exhaust produces rotten egg smell which when vent is on comes into car. Brought car to dealership and told condition is normal for this model and would not correct under warranty. I find this answer unacceptable that i should drive a new car that emits rotten egg smell as normal.

Vehicle is having a problem with the catalytic converter. Owner took the vehicle to the dealer and had the problem diagnosed. However, the dealer was not willing to assist the owner and told the owner that she'll have to live with it.provide further details.the consumer continued to complain of a rotten egg smell. The dealers response was a high sulfur content in the fuel that could not be fully eliminated

2004 toyota corolla: emission of hydrogen sulfide gas from exhaust system.

Exhuast from car comes into car a sulfur smell which makes passengers ill. Toyotablames gas and will do nothing to correct problem.

While driving, consumer would smelleda rotten egg odor. It made the consumer very ill.consumer wrotea letter to manufacturer, but manufacturer did not respond.

Car has rotten egg smel when heat is turned on. Contacted toyota and was told that it's a consequence of the gas and that they will try to fix it but that it will probably not work. This is unacceptable after paying for a new car.

There is a sulfur smell when the heater is blowing , and when the engine is shut off.tookvehicle to the dealer, anddealer claimed something was in the gas.

Bought the car new on 8/30/03.has had a sulphur gas smell at low speed & when stopped in traffic inside the car.this happens with the windows up & either heat or air conditioning on.it makes no difference when the controls are set to recirculate inside air instead of fresh air intake.called dealer 1st time, they said catalytic converter needed to burn in some.after some time, the smell hadn't changed, i took it to their service dept.they found no problem, said to try a different brand of gas & also try higher octane.i have tried all the major brands of gas & mid-grade & premium gas (which the owners manual said is not required), with no change noticed.we called toyota customer service, who said to call the dealer customer service, which we did twice with no response.called toyota customer service back with this information & they said we could try arbitration but they had not seen the manfacturer do anything for this problem.this is an ongoing problem & extended intake of sulphur fumes cannot be healthy for anyone.the incident date is the date the dealer checked the car.

Strong sulfur smell when vehicle is stopped at a light.

Since i got my car it has had a strong bad egg smell.when i questioned the dealer they said they knew nothing about it even though i have seen that others have complained about the same thing.

I own a 2004 toyota corolla (45,000 miles) and the check engine light illuminated, (read code p0456, emission control evap small leak). My investigation revealed that there were many other vehicles with the same issue and toyota has corrected this problem with replacing the fuel filler tube at the owners expense (approx. $300.00). Should this not be a recall due to the vehicle being only 2yrs old and a emission problem, that has happened to many other consumers?i feel toyota should step up and replace part at no cost to owner, the car is too new to have problems.

The accuracy of the vehicle's odometer is poor.*tc

10/29/09 i turned on the ignition and the engined immediately revved into the danger zone. I was not able to stop it. I turned the car off and checked the gas peddle.....the floor mat was nowhere near the pedal and there was no debris on the floor to cause this occurrence. I waited a few minutes and then restarted it. It was fine then...10/31/09 i took it to toyota dealership and was told they had not heard of any problems with the acceleration of there cars.they "performed top engine cleaning and throttle body cleaning" told me they thought this would take care of the problem..charged me $176.98 and i was on my way. This had happened twice before but not to this degree.

I am told by the dealer that there is no fix available for this air bag recall. I feel that i amdrivingonwing and a prayer.i will have to inform any passenger of this problem and that they would beriding at their on risk. This is a huge problem that has been known about for a long time and should have been resolved by now.your sharholders should be more interested in saving lives than thedividends they receive.

A/c failed, stopped cooling, the clutch is inoperative, a/c clutch does not engage.

Internal fogging of both headlamp lens. The replacement requires replacing the entire headlight assembly at a ridiculous cost.

Corolla s 2004, kit on bottom near fog lights seems to always peel off on both driver and passenger side, the kit is not custom it is stock when bought with a 2004 s type corolla. I had it fixed one time by a friendly body shop, they thought it was that i had hit a bump or curve so afer they fixed it it i relized the other side did the same thing but this time i double checked that there was no damage to the under part of the kit or any scratches and i was right, i think the car was not well assembled.

2004 toyota corolla--driving on right most lane at speed about 25 miles becausesnowing had started . Date 02-12-2008 on i 96 east near inkster , exit. Suddenly car turned into left lane and accelerated to very high speed. Crossed 3 left lanes and crashed on to concrete barrier between east and west lanes. Due to start of snowing ,all traffic was moving very slow. So all cars in other lanes stopped. My corolla did not hit any other vehicle.police gave ticket for speeding. (-police dept-livonia, mi-police. Car was total wreck with front damage and chasis bending outward on right side.car was taken to troy collision , troy , mi. Citizen insurance declared " total ".though i was not injured , it is close to worst crash and i had to buy new car spending $10,000 extra.i had no answer for sudden acceleration and vehicle turning and crashing. Now i know this was exactly what is reported now-sudden acceleration and car going out of control -a defect in the car.

The 2004 toyota corolla has a defective fuel filler neck. The metal used by toyota for this fuel filler neck is corroding, causing leakage of gas vapors at the gas cap. The leakage causes the "check engine light" to come on, and people are forced to pay toyota $400 for repairs in order to pass epa mandated emissions testing in order to renew the car's registration. It is clear that the fuel filler neck is defective because it has been said that the replacement ones have better quality metal and won't corrode. The nhtsa needs to pressure toyota to recall the corollas and to reimburse the owners who have been forced to pay for this defect in the design of the fuel filler necks. If the epa forces cars to pass the emissions testing, then the federal government should also force toyota to fix at their expense a known defect like the corroding metal in the fuel filler necks that affects the emissions system in their cars.

Two weeks after purchasing my 2004 toyota corolla le i started to notice a "rotten egg" smell.it is awful and embarassing.after researching it on the internet, many many people have been told all they can do is switch brands of gas.that's nice, but my car shouldn't smell like rotten eggs.it's disgusting.there needs to be a fix for this that toyota needs to provide.

I pulled into handicapped parking space at a local restaurant and when i took my foot off the accelerator, my 2004 toyota corolla unexpectedly accelerated, causing my car to jump curb and proceed forward approximately 30 feet where it crashed into side of restaurant.i am fairly certain i did not have my foot on the accelerator and absolutely did not keep it on the accelerator after it jumped the curb and proceeded into the building.

While in reverse and backing my 2004 toyota corolla into my garage the car suddenly accelerated and i hit the rear of the garage. I am positive i did not have my foot on the gas pedal. The engine was still racing when i put it in drive and drove out of the garage .i had to run into a snowpile on the front lawn to stop the vehicle.after the engine was turned off i looked at the floor mat and saw nothing wrong with it.this same problem while reversing into the garage happened in sept 2005.at the time i just thought the mistake was mine, now after the second incident i am convinced there is a mechanical problem with the car.

At start up the vehicle has a strong gas smell outside and inside.

Check engine light came on, showed evap fuel leak. Problem was traced to corroded fuel filler neck. Parts are back-ordered because this is a common problem. Toyota issued a tsb on this problem but no recall yet.

When parking the car the car attempted to accelerate on its own. I looked down to make sure my foot was not on the gas - my foot was planted on the brake.i had to brake as hard as a i could to keep the car from rear ending the vehicle in front as the engine all on its own dragged the car forward. The car was moving at about two miles an hour when this took place.the engine revved up to 4000 rpms without any pressure on the gas and simply dragged the car forward.

I bought a 2004 toyota corolla in july of 2003, not even two months of having the car i am having a problem. In september when i started to use my heat, i smelled a rotten egg/sulfer smell. It is terrible!!!..i called the dealership on it and they told me to switch gas, so i switched gas. Three gas stations later and 2 monts later i am still having the same problem. I don't konw what the health regulations are to breathing in sulfide, but it can't be good for someone. The epa must have some action against emiting sulfer into the air, that is why they have cadalitic converters. If the converter is a defect on the car, it is obviously not working. I have called every dealership in western ny and tried to get an answer or solution to this problem. My answer was "deal with it" from jim culligan in williamsville ny. I also got drive 20 miles to the indian reservation for your gas. If toyota can not take responsibilty for there action, then action needs to be brough to them.if i don't get some sort of resolution to my problem. Toyota will be recieving a lawsuit from me.

We bought a toyota corrola model 2004.since we bought it til now, it always has a persistent problem with gas tank (gas tank, gas pump, gas rod (?-per dealership personnel).our vehicle used mainly to commute a short distance from home to work and vice versa.the odometer was currently about 31,000 plus miles.

I have a 2004 toyota corolla.the 'check engine' light came on last week.i took the car to the dealer who said the car needed a new filler neck and gas cap. The dealer said this is a common problem in this make/model car.i checked the internet and found that other people did have the same problems.i don't think it's a big safety issue, however, i would like to ask why a recall hasn't been done and how to possibly go about initiating that process.thank you for input on this...janet braatz updated 09/25/09

At first i noticed the gas tank would not fill properly.i thought it was not venting properly, but i had a technician check it over.eventually, they replaced the fuel fill gauge (to no avail, might i add).the problem persisted, and i had the car checked again.finally, they discovered that there was a problem with the charcoal filter.unfortunately, i reported the incident before my warranty was up, but the dealer's service station did not get a chance to look at it until afterwards.all in all, between service and parts, this has cost me about $500.the old parts are not available, and i will see tomorrow morning if this charcoal filter malfunction is really the problem.i imagine it is, since i have seen multiple complaints about them on the newer corollas.

For almost 9 months, i have not been able to fuel my 2004 toyota corolla without the gas pump stopping despite my gas tank not being completely full. This occurs on a weekly basis. I have been told the cause for this is a faulty charcoal canister. This may not necessarily be the correct diagnosis; instead there may be something wrong with the ventilation in my gas tank that is not allowing fumes to properly ventilate while fueling the vehicle. I have had no repairs to address this problem because the cost of a new charcoal canister ($400) is quite high and the charcoal canister may not even be the problem. I would like to see if any other 2004 toyota corollas have had this issue as well.

Raw gasoline smell after driving car upon exit.smell strong on left side of car, most pronounced by left rear wheel well.persists for several minutes after car is turned off.not noticable while car is running.replaced gas cap twice and charcoal canister as well and smell still occurs.appears to be the fuel filler neck for which there is a toyota technical service bulletin to replace if corroded in first 36,000 miles.this is quite dangerous.car could explode.there are no leaks visible under the vehicle, including the fuel filler neck.one could easily mistake this for an evaporative emissions system leak, while this is a very dangerous leak.the fuel filler neck is rubber.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that there were small metal fragments around the fuel tank cap and filler neck area and a strong fuel odor was could be noticed while inside and outside of the vehicle. On december 5, 2009, i could not get out of my vehicle through the front doors because i couldn't unlock the front doors locks(manually or electronically).i had to crawl and get out of the car through the rear door. Good thing this is a 4 door vehicle.my concern is that this could have been serious if the whole system shut down. This defect causes the doors to be inoperable. Now i am afraid to drive the vehicle feeling that i could one day be trapped and have to break a window to get out.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that the lock assembly failed on the passenger side door; he would be unable to either get in or out of the vehicle. The contact called the dealer and was told that they would repair it at his expense. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were 63,911.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that the driver side door failed to unlock. The contact mentioned that the door would not unlock using the key, the key fob, or manually. As a result, the contact had to enter the vehicle through the passenger door. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin and failure mileage were unavailable.

The lock cylinders on both front doors have malfunctioned.the passenger side (which i rarely use) will no longer unlock; the driver side will no longer lock.i have never used the outside lock to lock the door so didn't even know the problem until the mechanic told me. $450 to fix both locks but i need to be able to get in the car.

On feburary 12, 2010, my 2005 toyota corollawas parked and running, while i brought groceries into my home. When i went back out,i discovered that the vehicle had rolled backwards into a ditch causing damage to the under carriage of the vehicle and muffler.this is the first time that this incident occurred and nothing has been done to correct problem.

March 24, 2010, i started my car from dewdney elementary school, mission, bc parking lot heading home in abbotsford, bc.about 15 minutes on highway 11 heading abbotsford direction, i found that i could not brake the car to stop.luckily, i managed to stop.then i saw smoke came out from the back wheels, and the emergency brake lever was high up, which it had not been released before i started to drive. I was scared and called the local toyota dealer, sunrise toyota in abbotsford to tow the car.the next morning, the staff at the dealership called me that i had to pay about $1200.00 to fix the car myself as the extended warranty did not cover it due the fault i made myself.they claimed that i should have not unreleased the emergency brake, which why it burned the whole braking system.this was the second time that i forgot to release the emergency hand brake before i drove.the first time happened two and a half years ago that i realized that the emergency brake was not released immediately, as i felt the car was difficult to move.my concern is that i did not feel any difficulty or restriction to move the car when the emergency brake was not released this time, as i did not remember if the red light of the emergency brake was on.unfortunately, the car moved smoothly even the emergency brake was up high.that was why i did not realize the emergency brake was not released.my car is only six years old, with 80,000km, the emergency brake was supposed to be working properly.i thought that i was going to die without being able to stop the car when i exited the highway, as the braking system was burning off with the emergency brake not being released. It is not a reasonable time frame for an emergency brake to stop function in five or six years.in other words, toyota inc. Should have warned all the drivers who drive toyota corolla 2004 model to replace the emergency brakes of their cars in five or six years, otherwise they will risk their lives.

Hand brake doesn't hold well.also, when the hand brake is on andyou or your passenger gets out of the car it makes a noise like you weight 5000 pounds a very loud squeak. It's not exactly a squeak, it sounds like they forgot to grease the suspension its that kind of noise. Or if you put a little weight on the fender when the hand brake is on it does the same thing. Not a lot of weight just your hand pushing down gently..this should be an embarrassment for toyota.the dealership says there is nothing wrong with the brakes.i beg to differ!i probably will never buy a toyota again.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000. Ma 10/15/2015

At 94,000 miles the transmission started to make a grinding noise.i took it in to the dealer and they told me that the transmission was shot and had to be replaced.

When reversing, the shift cable broke and car began rolling. Even in park, it would not stay parked. Had to engage security brake in order to keep the car from rolling away.

My manual transmission failed this evening. Fortunately i was only an eighth of a mile from home and was able to use my momentum to safely get off the road. I heard a loud pop, then the clutch began to grind horrifically. I was able to bring the car to a stop, but unable to shift out of neutral. The front axle is completely siezed, and the car is inoperable. I had the car flatbeded to my mechanic, the flat bed driver had to winch the vehicle on to the truck. My mechanic took one look and informed me that i will need to replace the clutch and manuel transmission and that this is a known issue with 2003 and 2004 toyota corollas. Why was no recall or consumer notice issued for this manual transmission failure?i had my coworker in the car as well.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated that the transmission would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that while attempting to drive into the garage, the contact stopped and shifted into park, to allow the front passenger to step out. The contact stated that when the gear lever was shifted from park to drive, there was no response and there was no warning indicator. The contact opened the hood and noticed that the cable, connected to the transmission, disconnected. The contact shut the vehicle off, and called the auto nation toyota fort myers service center dealer at (239)344-1900, located at 2555 colonial blvd, #1,fort myers, fl, 33907, and was told to bring the vehicle to the shop. The vehicle was not taken to the shop. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall, and referred the contact to the nhtsa.the failure mileage was about 76,000.

The car was a 2004 toyota corolla with standard transmission that had ~138,500 miles on it at the time of the incident.i was driving to work and the engine started making a loud rattling sound as i switched into 4th gear. The rattling sound got worse as i drove home from work, so i took the car to my mechanic the next morning. He drove it himself and said that the problem was related to a loosened bearing in the transmission and that the transmission would likely need to be replaced. It was not worth replacing the transmission on a car that old so i had to buy a new one.the car was 10 years old with significant mileage, but toyota corollas should last for much longer than this. Also, i read other complaints on the internet that many 2004 toyotas were having transmissions fail prematurely because of bearings coming loose.

Car was running perfectly.very suddenly it started making this horrible grinding noise.i went to pull into a parking lot and the car just stopped.i did not hit the brakes yet and was glad i was going slow.transmission is blown with no warning, no leaks, and no noise except at the last few minutes.had to have it towed.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While driving 75 mph he noticed a sharp sound coming from outside of the vehicle. After a few minutes, the vehicle suddenly stopped on its own. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 90000.

I am having what could be a serious problem with my almost new corolla 2004 with only 8000 miles. If i leave the car parked for say more than a week, i then start it, and try to go into reverse the car takes (lags) like 5 or 6 seconds to sort of engage the gear. At first it sort of like starts to go but not fully (slips) and after that it goes solid in to reverse. I hope you understand my explanation?? dealer has performed the hydraulic test, reset the memory, and changed theoil.

I am having what could be a serious problem with my almost new corolla 2004 automatic transmission with only 8000 km. If i leave the car parked for say more than a week, i then start it, and try to go forward or in reverse the car takes (lags) like 5 or 6 seconds to sort of engage the gear. At first it sort of like starts to go but not fully (slips) and after that it goes solid. I hope you understand my explanation?? dealer has performed the hydraulic test, reset the memory, and changed the atf oil. It seems that perhaps one of the internal valves tends to leek or is not able to retain the pressure over time. The car has now 15000 km. And the problem is getting worse. It takes more time to fully engage into gear. I can see how a serious accident can happened if the person driving the car is not aware of this issue and will try to accelerate to get the car moving and suddenly loose control over a sudden unwanted acceleration. I was never contacted before and i hope someone in your department takes seriously this information. The previous complaint (odi number) was 10187863. Thank you

My daughter was driving her 2004 toyota corolla from san diego to dallas.about 60 miles east of yuma, az the manual transmission went out in this car.had to have it towed back to yuma and a whole new transmission replacedbecause the transmission had ground itself to pieces and there were pieces of this in the transmission pan.we had to pay $3000 for a new transmission.we do not believe a 3 year old toyota with a manual transmission should go out at 75,000 miles.

Summer 2007, with about 65,000 miles on my 2004 toyota corolla s (bought new), i started to notice an unusual sound when i shifted gears--sounded a little like a diesel engine sound but very faint. Sound slowly become more pronounced, until it became a worry. It happened when i used the clutch (it's a manual). I brought it to the dealer to have them listen to it. They didn't hear it, but recommended that i leave it for service. I did. Dealer said they found no problem. Also said they rarely work on manual transmissions any more. Concerned about potential safety issues, i brought it to a local mechanic personally known to me. He immediately identified it as a transmission bearing problem. Thought it was possibly the pilot bearing. He recommend i take it to a transmission place for a listen. The transmission shop came to the same conclusion as the local mechanic. I reported back to my mechanic who called the dealership to check whether there were any service bulletins about transmission bearing problems and they said there weren't. I contacted the dealer to report the findings of the transmission shop and they said that they didn't think there was a problem. I returned to the transmission shop to have the transmission work done and he replaced the bearings. No more unusual sound when i shift. I still have the old part, which shows wear on one of the bearings. The dealer was not helpful in resolving the problem. The manufacturer was even less helpful. The repair was very expensive, about ~1600 (i also decided to replace the clutch while we were in there).

I have a 2004 toyota corolla s 5-speed with 91,000 miles on it. While driving the other day, the transmission locked up on the interstate. I had never had a problem with the car and have maintained it well since i purchased it. I had the car towed to the local toyota dealership and was told the clutch was bad and they gave me an estimate of $1,036 to repair it. After speaking to another mechanic and finding out that the dealership wanted $400 more than average to do the service i had the car towed to my local mechanic. After removing the transmission from the car he informed me that the clutch was fine and the transmission was bad. I bought a toyota for its supposed reliability......what a joke. This is going to cost thousands to repair and has effectively ruined my summer vacation plans. I know there are similar complaints concerning this transmission.....i hope something gets done about it. -bryan shepler

Sometimes, driver-side seat belt gets stuck while retracting it from the anchor point. I had to try twice or thrice before the seat belt retract smoothly from the anchor point. It also happens whenever i try to adjust the seat belt after it is fastened to the car seat buckle. Date mentioned in this form is the latest date when i experienced this problem.

Seat belts in rear of two toyota vehicles failed to engage latch.this occurred in both the 2004 toyota corolla and the 2004 toyota 4-runner.this is a safety concern as the passenger is forced to ride unsecured in the vehicle.this also face the driver to violate state law.i find it ironic that the same belt is used on both vehicles and both vehicles have the same problem.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that the seat belt frayed along the top of the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. Due to the vehicle having over 300,000 miles and its age, the contact would have to pay a portion of the repair cost. The failure mileage was approximately 300,010.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that the notice for nhtsa campaign number: 15v285000 (air bags) was received in may of 2015. The vin was also included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v043000 (air bags, seat belts) and the remedy was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Rent a wreck rockville in rockville, maryland rented me a care with 2 open recalls. It was a fight to get them to pick the car up and refund me - which they still have not fully. The car also has structural problems. Water pours through the roof onto the driver when it rains. It is not dripping; it is pouring water and it is an obstruction to the driver. I have gone back and worth with these people, but they do not care about federal or state law. This car needs to be repossessed and be taken off the roads and this rent a wreck locations needs to be made aware that their business tactics cannot proceed. I have a bunch of documentation from this ordeal. All i want is to make sure rent a wreck rockville does not have this car on the road or similar cars and to get refunded for all of the extra costs they have caused me. This franchised location is part of the larger problem. Also, i have been requesting to speak to someone at their corporate offices, but have been refused that information for over a month. Please follow up with me over this. Thank you in advance. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Toyota has failed to remedy the defects within a reasonable time.no indication that it will be remedied any time soon.please look into why it is taking so long. I have been told that they are working east, southand now pacific coast no mention of the north west (montana in particular)toyota headquarters say that the parts are not available.

Toyota usa refuses to fix it.i would not ever have a recall by manufactuer done again.too dangerous.## vin passed ## toyota carolla 2004 ##

My name is [xxx] , i am an accident investigator for the city of blue ash oh police dept.on 8/16/16 a 2004 toyota corolla rear ended a dodge ram van at approx. 65 mph on eastbound interstate 275 at the 48.5 mile post.the investigation shows that all occupants were wearing their seat belts, however the right rear occupant suffered life-threatening injuries to her liver and spleen.the seat belt shows signs of being worn but the retractor did not lock.i think that the shoulder strap portion may not have been worn properly due to the way the seat belt was found cinched up into the clasp (pictures attached.)do you have any feedback regarding the pictures? and, how do i test the retractor to see if it's operating properly or possibly failed at the time of the accident?i buckled the belt in the last few pictures to show it better.thank you for your time in advance![xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While sitting in the rear seat withlegs extended out the passengers foot was badly cut on a sharp instrument which was used to move the seat back and forth. Tookvehicle to the dealer. However, dealerexamined the vehicle and found that the blood in the vehicledid belong to the passenger. Toyota still has the vehicle in their possession. However, nothing was done.

I drive a 2004 toyota corolla and i have had many incidents of unintended acceleration. In every case it has been in winter, which is when i wear large soled boots. It is simply a matter of the brake being placed too close to the accelerator so that if i step on the right side of the brake my boot simultaneously depresses the accelerator. My car is manual transmission so there is also a clutch. I don't know if the brake and accelerator are particularly close together in a manual transmission model.i have never had an accident but it is somewhat alarming when it happens and i can imagine someone who does not understand why it is happening having an accident. Or i could too -- the natural response upon unintended acceleration is to continue depressing the brake, which in this case just continues the acceleration.i am including a date below because it is required to send the form. In fact i have no idea of the dates but it happens a couple of time per year.

We own a 2004 toyota corolla (a model not in the recall) but have had two incidents of sudden acceleration while braking at an intersection.

On 4 occasions, our 2004 toyota corolla engine has raced while the car was being backed up and my foot was on the brake pedal.the most serious incident was in a parking lot with many people milling around to watch a fireworks show.the harder i pushed on the brake pedal, the faster the engine ran.fortunately, the brakes stopped the car before i ran over anyone.apparently, the brake pedal went down so far that my foot could hit the gas pedal at the same time.also, the brake and gas pedals are very close together.

*scc

I have two claims on toyota corolla's.each vehicle had a fire start in the wheel well area.the dealer is blaming brake failure.the first vehicle is an 06 corolla and the other is an 04 corolla.neither vehicle has ever had any brake work done and both have very low miles.certainly the 06 corolla should be handled by toyota under warranty but so far they are not wanting to handle this loss.

My daughter had a head-on collision with a motorcycle, while driving her 2004 toyota corolla.the motorcycle rider was killed.the airbag in the corolla deployed and saved my daughter's life.unfortunately, she still has little, or no memory of the accident.we don't know what happened, or why?the police believe she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the lane into oncoming traffic and struck the motorcycle.a witness stated her car was going fairly fast.why was it going so fast in a residential area?a traffic light was right in front her (about 100 feet ahead).at that light, she would have taken a square right hand turn, enroute to her home.i don't understand why she was going so fast.and i don't understand why she lost control of her car.she was 90% of the way home.it was about 6:15 in the afternoon in the middle of summer.a sunny day, no clouds or precip.the car is being held by the west springfield, ma police department.can you inspect the vehicle?she had complained to me about the vehicle previous to this.she once asked me add power steering fluid.when i checked, the reservoir was already up to the full mark.being a dad, my only job was to maintain the car (change oil, etc).i very, very rarely drove the car.and when i did drive, it was fine.this corolla was registered in my name.i bought it in 2007 for my daughter (her first car).i bought corolla's for both of my children. I gave my son a 2001 corolla years ago.i'm a big believer in toyota quality.i own a tacoma myself.but, something isn't right about this accident.i think the steering and acceleration should be checked, as a minimum.updated 05/19/10 updated 10/04/10 updated 9/27/11*cw

The steering on my 2004 is harder to control at speeds of about 55 and above.it feels very loose and "spongy".i took it to a local dealership, and they told me it must be the tires.i had the tires replaced, and the problem remains.i believe that the steering is simply too loose and not well enough controlled.i have to work harder than i should to keep it in line.the problem has existed for the last couple years.

I was driving down the highway and my car suddenly swerved/veered and i had to fight for control of the vehicle.i barely avoided having an accident.it had rained the night before but was not raining when this occurred.this is the third time that this has happened since i bought the car in january 2004.the second time this happened, it was a sunny day this summer.i was on a city street and again driving straight when the car suddenly swerved.i had a passenger in the car with me.the first time was in the spring of 2004, a couple of months after i bought the car.i was on the freeway.i had just completed a lane switch and was going straight when the car swerved/veered.i almost collided with the median. After this third occurrence, i knew there was something wrong with the car.i made an appointment with the dealership i bought the car from and brought it in.after a 5 minute road test, the dealer said that they couldn't replicate the problem i was describing.the dealer told me if i wanted to pay for an inspection, they can further inspect the car to see what was wrong with it.i asked them to go ahead because i didn't want to get into an accident as a result of this problem.the dealer just called and informed me that after a 15 minute inspection, they did not see anything out of the ordinary.my problem is similar to that in complaint #10127778.please look into the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. She noticed that when the mileage was40,000, the steering wheel would not drive normally at approximately 55 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer aligned the vehicle, replaced the tires, test drove the vehicle and the stated that the failure was corrected; however, the failure was not corrected. She also took the vehicle to the pep boys for an alignment and the failure continued to occur and has become progressively worse.the current mileage was 109,000.

Steering wheel is not in proper position.it is turned to the left.when i try to turn it into a straight position the car begins to drive to the right.

I have a 2004 toyota corolla.on dec. 24, 2005 the steering pulled away to the next lane causing it to hydroplane.it seems like a ghost just takes over the steering wheel.there were no injuries and thank god no deaths.after the car was repaired, i continued driving it.in 2006, the wheel continued to swift to the next lane, like it's pulling away from you.if you are not gripping the wheel tightly, the car will jump into the next lane.i always make sure no one is driving in the next lane in case the car starts pulling.i had the car inspected, but toyota said nothing is wrong to make sure i get my wheel alignments.i told them i always get wheel alignments and tires changed often since i drive alot.the problem occurs mostly when you accelerate speeds higher than 40 mph while getting on the interstate.also the steering wheels jumps to the next lane especially when its highly windy on the interstate and raining.wheel alignments does not solve the problem.when i got one done in 2008, the problem happened right when i pulled out from getting an alignment.the problem also occurs in windy conditions when traveling over bridges or high altitudes. The problem continues until this day in 2010.

The serpentine belt came out from the pulleys due to the fact that the alternator broke loose from the top anchor bolt. Upon examination, it was found that the alternator was anchored and fastened only by one top bolt. The second anchoring bolt (lower end) was not placed through the bolt hole because of an interference of 0.11". The loosened serpentine belt caused the steering wheel to cease its function and can potentially lead to an accident. For my case, fortunately, the top bolt broke off (due to fatigue failure) while the car was still in the driveway.

I took my 2004 toyota in for service for steering problems 8 times, between the date of purchase in april 2004 and september 2004.i was driving on i-75 on the southbound side in wildwood florida, on a dry sunny day - the car began to lose control, after i moved to the left to avoid a collision with a car incoming from my right side - there was small contact by the unknown vehicle, which continued. I was unable to steer out of the problem, at first, and the car went to the left side parking strip.when i tapped the brake to slow the car, it did not lose speed.i began to steer out of left lane, onto the highway, but then while i was steering right, the car steered itselfto the left.i am certain that the car failed to allow the cruise control to release. I reported all of this at the time of the incident.this was ignored by toyota.the reports of the problem using the lemon law were also denied, and toyota would not support me when i made contact with them on several attempts, between april 2004 (on purchase) and the incident.the service managers at gatorland toyota refused to acknowledge the problem.i purchased this in ocala, florida.the owner of that dealership also refused to listen when i wrote and spoke to him about the problem.i purchased the car from that dealership.i have all of the material that was submitted to toyota, and to arbitration.it was a vibration and steering problem that i reported, however, i believed at time, that the car may have held the dealer (deluca, in ocala florida) installed cruise control that may have contributed.this was likely a pedal problem.at the time, i thought it was cruise.i took the car to deluca toyota requesting repair about 5 times (have documents) and to gainesville, fl toyota, 3x, &with a scheduled representative (regional) inspection.the all refused to acknowledge a problem.the claimed to have aligned the front end & balanced tires (a vibration issue). No change.they then refused.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact noticed excessive play in the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for balancing, a rotation and an alignment of the tires. The front suspension was also inspected. All four tires were replaced. The failure continued after the maintenance was performed. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Dealer replaced the steering column mechanism, but problem recurred. Also, while driving vehicle vibrated.

The belt tensioner on this vehicle has failed for the second time.vehicle was purchased new, and needed a new belt tensioner at 44k.the work was done at an authorized toyota dealer, al hendrickson toyota.the second belt tensioner failure was at 78k and the tensioner was replaced again at a toyota dealer, palm beach toyota.the second dealer, palm beach toyota, found a defective clamp on a powersteering hose after repeated power steering failures subsequent to replacement of tensioner.both tensioner failures were preceded by oily spots on driveway under tensioner unit and were likely caused by the defective power steering hose clamp found by palm beach toyota allowing leaking power steering fluid onto belt and tensioner assembly.

The frame along the windshield on the passenger's side obstructs vision, causing the driver not to see well.the driver was concerned because the vehicle was brand new.the dealer was made aware of the problem.the view was obstructed for vehicles to the right, the rear seat headrests blocked the view in the rear view mirror as well as when looking back to change lanes or back up.the consumer had to remove the rear headrests to avoid problems.when the rear windows were opened 1/2 to full, there was a tunnel type of sensation and the vehicle would shake.the vehicle would be at a stop sign and when needing to turn left, the consumer was unable to get a clear view of approaching traffic on the passenger side.there was a span of time when the vehicles were completely blocked by the frame on the passenger side windshield.the consumer attempted to adjust the height and distance of the seat position, but was limited due to height restrictions.other consumers have experienced the same problem.(the width of the panel/frame seemed to be a part of the problem which also seemed to be a the late model issue) *scc

The glass door stack and broken also damaged the regulator toyota said they only cover the bolts.

Approximately 45 days ago (aug. 27, 2003) i purchased a 2004 toyota camray solara. The auto is equipped with a low tire pressure warning system. On day one, the system alerted me of low tire pressure. I took the vehicle back to the dealership at it was fixed. The following morning, i noticed moisture condensation on the inside. I turned on the ac and it disappeared. For the second time, the low pressure indicator was on and i again returned the car to the dealership. The dealerships service department checked the tires, informed me that all the tires must have the same pressure, and showed me the reset switch under the dash.a week later, after a rain storm, the car carpets were wet. I returned the car to the dealer and after a day, the car was returned and i was admonished to ensure that i didn't leave the car windows open. At the end of that week, there was another heavy rain storm and my car remained parked for that entire weekend, "with the windows closed." on sunday, september 14th, i entered the car and once again, the floor mats were soaked and there was a musty/moldy smell in the car. On the following monday (9/15) i returned the car to the dealer. This time, after a day, the service department told me that there was a reported problem of water leaking and that i would have to return the car later in the week to have the dashboard removed and the leaking part replaced/repaired. And, once again, the low tire pressure indicator was on. My car is still not totally repaired and the low tire pressure light is on again. The dealer now has possession of my car for almost as much time as i have. I am waiting for the next rain storm and i?m afraid to wash my car. In addition, there are mold and mold spores growing in the vehicle, which is aggravating my asthma.*la

Sun visor on driver side interferes with rear view mirror.when visor is pulled down, it hits the rear view mirror, causing the mirror tomove up or down.on sunny days when constantly moving visor, the rear view mirror is a continual problem needing readjustment and causing driver to take eyes off the road.

Metalic rattle comes out of the dashboard of 2004 corolla le. The car has only 15 miles on it.

I heard a loud pop when driving at 25 mph then something started grinding all the way home. My husband checked the wheels and noticed the driver rear had to much negative camber. Checked and notice that two bolts were missing from the rear hub assembly that hold it the axle and the two that were left were very loose that i was lucky the wheel didnt fall out . He checked the passenger side hub assembly and all bolts were loose , he re- torque all bolts to 45 ft lbs as recommend and added blue locke tight tothe bolts and ordered new bolts for the driver rear. Rear hub assemblies are original never been touched . Thanks

My car has been making a loud noise, especially when driving over 40 mph.i took it to the dealership and i was told the car needs a replaced rear wheel, bearing, and hub.my car is a 2004 with only 40,000 miles.i've seen that there was a recall for 2002 corollas with a similar problem.

Dt*: the contact stated having problems with the vehicle's rear right axle while driving 55 mph.prior to the incident, the rear right tire was wearing out abnormally and was replaced and aligned four times.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for a diagnosis to repair the rear right axle.after the repairs were made, the problem persisted.the contact affirmed that when the brakes were fully depressed, vehicle control could not be completely maintained, and there was not sufficient stability power.

The molding piece seperating from around the radio.my car was 3 months old when the problem was noticed.i have had this problem worked on twice.the second trip in,the molding was replaced which has helped for the most part.at first there was a big gap on the sides and on top of the radio and molding.it still is not 100% perfect as i would wish for a brand new car but it looks better now than it did in the beginning.

I have had my car for 2 years now, every time i take the car into the dealer i show them the gap and the warping up of the console above the radio. Still until this day, they say there is nothing that can be done. It has been getting worse and more of the top console is popping up causing a rattling noise.i also smell that bad egg/ sulfur smelling order when i use the ac or the heat. I am sure this cant be good for anyone's health. Something needs to be done with both of these complaints. Factory recall?

My toyota corolla le (car) completely loses power and shuts down randomly. It has happened on numerous occasions. During one occasion it shut down while on the highway. This incident almost cost me my life as well as two of my children (who are adults). It completely shut down in the middle of a lot of traffic causing a semi truck to miss us by inches. This has also happened on numerous occasions on streets and in parking lots. The car is always in motion when this occurs. I have had the car's engine tested (the business that tested it is now out of business). The test revealed that it was a coil pack that was causing the problem. I had the coil pack replaced but it did not fix the problem. At this point it is still unknown why my vehicle shuts down randomly. Below it asks for a date when this occurs. As stated above, it has happened so many times that i can't recall those dates, so i put in an approximate date that the incident on the highway occurred. The miles on the car is what i have on it at this time (149,542).

I bought a toyota corolla 2004 sedan from gordie boucher nissan, 10606 w. Arthur avenue, west allis, wisconsin, phone no. 414-543-1234 on sept. 27th. The car was in very good condition, and both my husband, joy joseph and i didn't notice that the head rests for the back seats were missing.when we found that we broght this to thedealer's attention. They are not willing to get us two head rests for the back.my husband went to the toyota dealer as we still have the full warranty from toyota, and they are also not willing to provide us with the head rests.i know that in a collission it will be dangerous to have passengers in the back seat where they will have severe neck injuries.before something severe happens, i would like to have the head rests in place.please help me in getting this resolved.

My driver side window lowers only part way when the temperature is lower than 70o and the window rattles when the window is raised.vin 2t1br3244c215045i contacted the toyota customer service center, and spoke with mr. Karin knan, under toyota case # 1011110634, who instructed he would be contact you with my issue;the parts were under warranty for 3 years/36k.i just received a call from my service manager, who stated that the repair and investigation involved removing the door panel and viewing the window regulator and bolts.request your consideration ofmy vehicle issue, similar to the recall of defect investigation ea08-004.

The contact wanted to report a fatal accident involving a 2004 toyota celica.the vehicle was traveling approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions.the driver was ejected from the vehicle during a rollover crash.the vehicle turned over three times.a police report was filed.the vehicle was completely destroyed and the cause of failure has not been determined. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

The drivers side sun visor will not go down all the way because the rear view mirror is in the way (it hits it).this is a driving distraction trying to reposition the rear view mirror every time the sun visor is lowered and raised.

Toyota usa refuses to fix it.i would not ever have a recall by manufactuer done again.too dangerous.## vin passed ## toyota carolla 2004 ##

I took my car to the dealership king automall in mason, oh for an airbag recall and the dealership had my car up on the lift rusting the entire exhaust system off of my car along with a few others vehicles. When i asked the dealership why was they under my car the dealership replied that it was someone's else car. I explained to the dealer that it was my car because it had my license plate. The same day my entire exhaust system broke apart due to being rusted out. I inspected my exhaust right before i took my car to the dealership and it was in good shape. Please have tis investigated and stopped.

Accelerator pedal stuck, hit handicapped stanchion at bj`s warehouse in farmingdale,ny. Had to turn off ignition. It happened once. Had the damage repaired at farmingdale auto collision costing $587 nothing done to correct this pedal, did not know what the cause was .

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While the contact was driving 30 mph the vehicle suddenly accelerated up to 60 mph. In order to stop the vehicle from accelerating, the contact had pressed the accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 40000.

Frightening incident that was reported on my 2004 toyota corolla le/sd 4 dr.parking my vehicle in a driveway (on a slight incline), dry conditions, and only 1 foot from a parked cargo van.about to place foot on brake to stop completely to turn car off and full acceleration took place.gas pedal went full throttle and hit the cargo van.tires were spinning, left tire tracks.my car pinned between a cargo van and pulling to the left -- six inches from hitting a subaru owned by sister.acceleration went for about two minutes as i was applying the brakes, no results. I looked down to see if my car mat was in the way and the answer is no.three people came outside the home to see what the loud impact was and why the car was accelerating in that manner-- thinking the engine had blown.i was able to put the car in neutral, then park and shut it off while applying the brake.contacted toyota corporate office who then referred me out to customer experience center on monday 12/7 to inform them of my ordeal. They arranged for my car to be serviced by a technician on 12/15/2009 at the toyota dealer in greer, sc.i was told to pick the car up after 1 1/2 hours.i had car towed to and from car dealer.in january 2010, i picked up a certified letter from the post office that was dated december 23, 2009.it stated that "based on our findings provided above, we respectfully decline any further assistance in this matter."the inspection was - providing a road test and the brakes, held vehicle speed at 10 mph, no leakage with brakes, and acceleration did not stick.they sent me on my way and closed the case and thanked me for my business and being a loyal toyota customer! i only had my car for two years.it is the first time it happened.i ultimately had to get another vehicle to get around in.it was my only vehicle.there is a serious safety issue with more vehicles than they are stating.mine is a 2004.

2004 toyota corolla suddenly accelerates against the will and conduct of the operator of the vehicle on several occasions - toyota motor company ignores issue repeatedly.odi cases 1431208 and 10051102 are invited to contact me ([xxx]) at [xxx] to discuss similar experience.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2004 toyota corolla surges for 1-2 seconds while at stop or red light. It feels like it is going to take off by itself.this happens more often in warm weather than cold weather.i brought my car to the dear and complained about this problem.they told me it is normal.this can be over all serious safety problem.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact was driving 5 mph attempting to park when there was an unusual increase in engine rpms and the vehicle then accelerated abnormally. She then crashed into a tree while depressing the brakes. The police were called and a report was filed. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic and was pending an investigation. The failure and current mileages were approximately 43,100.

I bought a brand new 2004 toyota corolla in may this year.a few days later i was driving on the free way and the new car accelerated by itself.i tried to step on the brake to slow down, it became uncontrollable.i was driving at 60 miles per hour.finally i have to exit the free way and the car hit the divider and got totally crashed.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While the contact was driving approximately 10 mph and attempted to make a left turn with her foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy but there were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they would send someone to inspect the vehicle which the contact was awaiting. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle until crashing into a parked vehicle at 30 mph. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the neck and the vehicle was towed to the dealer for repairs.the dealer inspected the vehicle and could not determine what caused the acceleration failure. The vin was not available. The failure and the current mileages were 70,000.

My 2004 corollale is the first vehicle i have owned that has cruise control. When i am driving at highway speeds and engage the cruise control, it holds a steady speed. When the vehicle encounters an incline, such as a bridge or a hill, it will downshift and continue to accelerate well beyond the speed set. Every instance that this has happened i have been able to simply disengage the cruise control within5 to 10 mph above the set speed, but it seems as though the vehicle would continue to accelerate as long as it was on the incline. Thinking this is how cruise control worked, not having used it before, i never took it to a dealer and simply turn it off when encountering an incline.. In light of the recent toyota acceleration issues, i thought this information would be useful to nhtsa.

- the contact stated that while drivingthe 2004 toyota corollawith 31000 failure mileage at 15 mph with foot on the gas pedalthe vehicle raced up to 35 mph, and the rpms raced between 4 and 5 on the gauge.the contact immediately applied the brake as hard as he could, and put the vehicle into neutral.he also applied the gas, allowing the vehicle to stop idling. The vehicle was at the dealer being looked at concerning this problem.the current mileage was 32,000.updated 04/30/07.

The car accelerated on own in the reverse mode as i was parking in a garage parking space.i could not control the vehicle and the vehicle did not respond to my attempts of depressing the brake.

I was driving my 2004 toyota corolla the other day on a side road.i was approaching a corner in the road and took my foot off my gas pedal.the car continued to accelerate.i pushed on the break which slowed the car slightly, but wouldn't stop it.i put the car into neutral and pulled off to the side of the road.the engine was revving very loudly so i turned off the car.i proceeded to turn the car back on and it was still revving.i pulled on the gas pedal and check my floor mat, as i knew of all the current recalls in effect.the floor mat was not in the way and the pedal appeared fine.nothing changed.i called a tow truck and in about 2 hrs later when the tow truck guy started my car, it appeared fine.it was brought to a toyota dealership, whom played if off as if my floor mat was the cause and sent me on my way.i then brought it to my father who used to be a mechanic and he checked all the mechanics of the car.he lubed up some parts and cleaned the accelerator plate, however he stated everything looked good to him.as of today this has not happen again.

Intermittently while driving at low speed vehiclesuddenly accelerated.

2004 toyota corolla was total on 9/11/07 in an accident where it accelerated in reverse in a parking lot and smashed into a tractor trailer.my former was driving it and said it just took off on her.(we fired her shortly after this incident and she left the usa)*cw

When pulling into a parking space, the vehicle accelerated on its own.depressed brake to limited avail.vehicle partially jumped parking curb when it was shifted into park.the vehicle has not yet been inspected so, as yet, nothing has been done to repair this problem.this is the second occurrence. This appears to be similar to many other complaints on this model along with other models.

I had a rapid acceleration problem with my 2005 toyota corolla yesterday. The engine rpm went to about 50,00rpm. Before any damage occurred i shut the vehicle off. When starting up again there seemed to be no problem. I immediately called the dealer and after checking out the vehicle they could not find a problem.

Cruise control can be activated at typical road/highway speeds even when car is in neutral (on a manual transmission).as a result, the accelerator is electronically depressed, causing the engine to rev and hit the rev limiter.there are multiple ways to deactivate the cruise control, but the stress could be damaging on the engine and the scenario could a major distraction to the driver.

While idling at a stop lightvehicle surged.vehicle has had 600 rpm surges while in park and while at idle for no reason.the manufacturer appeared to be aware of the problem with the camry models but has received no reports of problems with the corolla.

I was about to stop when vehicle suddenly accelerated. Luckily there no one or property in the way before i could get the car to stop. Problem only occurred once. Will stop driving the car for now.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While the contact was driving approximately 6 mph into a parking space, the vehicle lunged forward with a sudden increase of acceleration. The vehicle jumped a curb and crashed into a nearby building. There was no personal injury and a police report was filed. The exterior body of the vehicle sustained severe damages and was towed to a local collision shop. The cause of the failure had not been determined. The failure mileage was 39,000.

I was on my way to work. I came to a traffic light which was red. There were two cars stopped at the light. When i hit the brake to stop, theaccelerator started roaring and the brake would not grab. I pushed it as hard as i could and finally it grabbed just before i would have hit the car in front of me. When i got to work, i was backing into a parking place and the same thing happened. It has not happened since. I was wearing large boots at the time and just assumed my foot hit both the accelerator and the brake at the same time but now that the recall has happened, i wonder if it wasn't my over sized boots.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact was driving with the cruise control set to approximately 70 mph. When the brakes were applied to disable the cruise control, the vehicle would not respond and instead, accelerated abnormally.the brake pedal fell into the floorboard and the contact applied the emergency parking brake but the vehicle still would not respond and the contact crashed into the rear of a vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer had an engineer inspect the vehicle who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 66,771.

Sudden acceleration of my 2004 toyota corolla resulting in an accident. This year was not a recall year.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. While driving various speeds, the vehicle independently accelerated. The accelerator pedal felt stuck. In 2007, a crash occurred when the contact's vehicle unintentionally accelerated and rear ended another vehicle. The contact stated that the air bag deployed after the crash. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained abrasions and contusions that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

I was driving with my children down a residential street in eugene oregon when i pulled my foot off of the accelerator. The car failed to decelerate. I pumped the accelerator to no effect. I looked down at the accelerator and saw the floor mat wedged under the accelerator. I was able to pull the mat out and slow the car down. Later in inspecting the mat, i saw for the first time that there were two hooks designed to hold the mat in place. One of the hooks had become disengaged causing the mat to move and become lodged firmly beneath the accelerator. I had been fortunate in avoiding and accident. Years later the mat recall of other toyota models was made. The 2004 corolla was not part of the recall. I contacted both the main company and my local dealer. I was instructed to put the mat in my trunk. The company never made a recall of this model in spite of the issue being identical to those included in the recall. I have been concerned about toyota's lack of action ever since. After hearing what happened with gm, i decided that i had not notified the proper authorities since nothing was done. The 2004 corolla should have been part of the initial recall for defective floor mats. Toyota, like gm, failed to take corrective action and should be held accountable. People may have been injured or died from this lack of action and as long as a recall has not happened that danger continues to exist.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated the vehicle accelerated three times while driving various speeds. The vehicle accelerated as she drove into the driveway and nearly crashed into the garage until she applied extreme pressure to the brake pedal. When i stop the car when i'm driving e.g. At a traffic light, the car pulls forward when i brake. This occurs like 70% of the time. I tried to get in touch with toyota and they tell me that the recall does not apply for my vehicle. Since i bought the car brand new, i thought it was my imagination but i came to a realization that it is my car.

Cruise control doesn't work. I had it repaired at the dealership and about a month later it went out again.when i called back, they said they would repair it, but it would not be free of charge. Seemed like the repair should have lasted if it truly was fixed. Haven't had cruise since and it was so nice for long distance travel.

Sudden vehicle acceleration: this is the 3rd time this has happened to this car. The first time it resulted in an accident. That was reported in nhts complaint # 10405593 on 6/ 6/ 11.the second time an accident was avoided(also happened while parking) in 2013. This third time i was again turning into a parking space with my foot both off the accelerator and the brake and there was a suddenunintended increase in rpms and acceleration of the vehicle. I was able to break but not before hitting hard and going over the parking bumper in the parking garage.as after the first incident the car was taken to toyota and they took no responsibility and said all was ok(on 12/12/14). I want to document this incident in case a future incident results in a fatality or serious incident for which toyota would be liable.

Regarding sudden acceleration in the toyota corolla: although this problem has recently been widely reported on the news in other models i have experienced dozens of events in the toyota corolla for an entirely different reason.the spacing between the brake pedal and the accelerator is so close that anyone who has big feet such as me ( i wear a men's 12 wide shoe) can easily hit the accelerator at the same time the brake is hit. This problem became such an issue for me since my elderly mother owns 2 different toyota corolla that i avoid using her cars whenever possible.however because she is so old and cannot easily get into cars that are low to the ground because of their small wheel diameters i do take her in her car at times.there is hardly a single instance in which i drive the car that i do not experience problems. I also tried about 5 years ago to buy my own toyota corolla but being aware of the problem i asked the dealer if he could move the brake pedal and he told me there was nothing that could be done. This car is very dangerous for anyone with feet larger than the normal.i expect that in japan they must have small feet for creating such a stupid blunder.this vehicle should be removed from the road.i experienced the problem in more than one model year. My mother owns two different model years.the car i test drove on the dealers lot was another model year. So at least 3 different model years after 2004 have the problem.it can easily be seen just by looking at the pedal spacing.this blunder in design is hard to believe since it is so stupid.

I own a 2004 toyota corolla with about 13,000 miles. Last week i was driving on a flat city street, going about 30 mph, when i had to slow down for a red light. I came to a complete stop with my foot securely down on the brake pad when the engine began to rev and the car lurched forward. There was enough space between me and the car in front of me to avoid an accident. Nonetheless, this concerned me because i have detected the same problem once or twice before while stopped on an incline. The assistant service manager at my toyota dealership said he's not aware of these problems, but i found something similar on the web concerning the camrys. I am getting the car checked out this weekend.

Drove car to work on day of accident with no incidents. Parked vehicle for about 5 hours then drove it again for about 1 half hour then park. At 5:00 p.m. Left the office to go home. On the way home i made tow stops, one at the post office and another at my sister's house. Upon leaving my sister's, i proceed to go up hill. When i got to the top of the hill with my foot on the brake pedal i proceeded to put the vehicle in low gear as i am accoustomed to when going down a hill which i was about to do. As i put the vehicle in gear, it accelerated to top speed going down the hill. I looked down to make sure my foot was on the brake pedal...it was. The vehicle began racing down hill. I applied the emergency brakes but it did not hold. I decided to try to steady the vehicle with both hands on the steering wheel as i lost control of the vehicle to no avail. I crashed into a parked vehiclebounced from side to side then hit a bump in the road and become airborne. The vehicle dropped in a ditch bounced again then crashed into a dirt embankment on the other side of the street at which time both the driver's and passenger's airbags deployed. On january 6, 2006 i took the vehicle to the toyota dealer here on island for full service. The front brakes were changed as indicated on my work order and the back brakes were cleaned and adjusted. On march 6, 2006, i went in to the service department to report the accident describing what happened. I was told that the brakes were not the problem. When i asked what would cause the vehicle to do something like that, they told me they did not know and that they would have a specialist from puerto rico fly in to look at the vehicle. I am waiting to hear from them.

I was driving my 2004 toyota corolla last march 13, 2009 at noon in a crowded parking lot in mason , ohio, a suburb of cincinnati. I was stopping at a stop sign and after that, i pushed on my gas pedal when the car took off , going from a dead stop to 60 mph , crossing the lot so fast that i was lucky i did not kill anyone that day. I could not control the car at all. It was as if i was on a dragstrip trying to race! i was surrounded by minivans and there was a burger king restaurant on the one side of me with a busy kohl's next to my car. I was terrified because i could not stop the car! the brakes did not work for me ,at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had to stop the car as i had only a few minutes to stop or i would have jumped over a 4 foot grassy partition before i went into a 4 lane intersection full of traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would have caused a nice accident and killed someone or many!!!!!!!!!!! i threw the car into "park and turned off the ignition right then" the car did a 180 degree turn landing near the grassy partition!!!!!!!!! i was fine but so scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i had no idea what to do to stop but it worked.i went to king's toyota after that which was across the street. They checked the car and said it was a buildup of gases in the car!!!!!!! such a lie!!!!!!! why did they not know what was it was?? they have had complaints since 1999?????????? my question is why is my car not part of the recall since i have had a sudden acceleration problem?? king's will look at my car next week but they will make me pay for repairs when it's their fault and it's not on the list. Please have them expand the recall so that people like me can trust their cars again.

I was braking for a stoplight.after coming to a complete stop the engine began to race with the rpms rising above 4000 before i turned off the ignition.i had to press down on the brake pedal as hard as i could and was barely able to hold the car at the intersection.this was the second time this had happened.the first time occurred approximately 2 months earlier.during that incident, the engine raced to over 6,000 rpms before i shut off the ignition.after both incidents, i took the car to lithia toyota in redding, ca.both times they said that no error codes were set and since the car engine did not race during the test drives, there was nothing wrong with it.they stated tha they had never heard of any other toyota vehicles behaving in this manner, yet i found 25 similar complaints regarding the 2004 camry on this website, and 21 such complaints for 2002 through 2005 model year corollas.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated as she was turning on to a side street at about 5mph the vehicle accelerated for three blocks and ran into a house. The vehicle revved up andwould not stop as contact was depressing on the brakes because the accelerator pedal was stuck. The contact was injured and had to be taken to the hospital. She may not walk again. There is a police report available if needed.the vehicle was totalled and also the house that was hit had to be demolished because it was so badly damaged. The toyota manufacturer was not notified about this incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance prior to the failure. The vin number was unknown. The failure mileage was 14,000.

It stopped at 299999 and there are a lot of people on the internet with this same problem. Will not register miles. The consumer should not have to pay for this to be installed.

While waiting at a stop light the 2004 toyota corolla would surge forward. This has happened several times, roughly 4-5 a year, and if the brake was not firmly applied cars in front of me would have been hit. No attempt was made to fix this as it was inconsequential at the time. I am concerned that one of these times it may not be.

Dt*:the contact stated while placing the engine into drive, the engine revved high and the vehicle suddenly accelerated.the brake pedal was depressed when the vehicle crashed into a brick garage with no prior warning.the vehicle sustained damage to the front with additional damage to the garage.the police were not contacted since this happened on private property.the vehicle remains at the scene of the incident and has not been inspected.

June 24 i took my 2004 toyota corolla -- vin[xxx] ---in for the recall ssc # 80a 03-04 front door glass bolts safety recall.the window appeared to be in working order, when i picked it up. The window came to a tight seal at the upper part of the window.june 25, the window is off track again leaving a gap at the upper portion when the window rolls up! toyota said they will not replace the weather stripping.the window because it went off track because of a defect at the factory, made the rubber around the window all loose and maybe affecting the window now.i can see how the stripping has formed in a way that it might push the window away from the inner track -- when window goes up, the stripping is loose and the window moves as going up. I personally think toyota is getting the easy way out of this. On a side note.. I already had to replace the window cause it shattered on me, thank god i had tint on the window. I took it to a private business, and just my luck, cant find the receipt.so i won't get reimburse. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

For the recall ssc # 80a 2003-2004 front door glass bolts safety recall. Because of the glass bolts defect, the window is off track and leave a gap at the upper portion. It makes the rubber around a window loose and shrink because a window does not line up in the right position. The window moves to the outer side of rubber which makes noise and shatter all the time. It also affect the weather stripping goes in the bad shape because the window is not at a right position between upper portion of windows.

I have a 2004 toyota corolla and my front window broke before the recall. I contacted toyota directly and the told me there was nothing they could or would to about it because my car was out of warranty. I had the glass replaced by a auto glass co., but it was not operating right. Went to toy. Dealership they said regulator was bent by not using toy.glass. I explained that regulator felt like it was coming through the door when window broke. Got recall notice and bolts were put in but window on driver side still does not line up right. It is starting to ware away my weather stripping and alot of wind noise comes through. Toyota still does not want to fix this problem.

Toyota is ignoring the window run/weather stripping defect problem on 2004 corollas. The stripping separated from the window frame causing bucking of the window.

I pushed the button to close the windows.the driver side window went up to approx. 6" from the top of the window and stopped.i pushed the button to turn it down.the window returned down.i again pushed the button to close the window.as thewindow was raised to apprrox 6" from the top, the glass exploded.idrove directly to thetoyota dealer who said sometimes this happens and was not able to give a reason for the occurrence.the window was replaced.i am afraid to touch the window as when the glass exploded, my hand was cut, some of the glass was in my lap.

Dt: while driving down theat 50 mph on smooth roadthere was a hissing coming from the sun roof. The glass from the sun roof flew off, and the consumer saw the glass behind the car in the rearview mirror.t he sun roof was closed at the time when it flew off. The glass cameoff in one piece and then broke on the ground. Then, the owner pulled over and looked at the sun roof. He took the car home, then to the car to dealer . The consumer was unsure what caused it, and the dealership hasn't told the consumer the cause of thefailure. The dealership will replace the sun roof. Theconsumerhas not had other problems with car but was upset with dealership for charging for a rental car.

Adult son was driving car on freeway when sunroof/moonroof just blew off. Hit two cars causing windshield and minor body scratching. Brought car into toyota dealership that next week. Was told 1) sunroof was an after market addon, 2) glue holding sunroof to frame had let go and 3) not a toyota problem. Contacted original dealership where car purchased new. Was told they would not help as sunroof was aftermarket and there was no existing warranty.i bought the car new and paid toyota. Car came with the sunroof which toyota dealership had contracted out for installation. Was given the name of the installer and they readily agreed to pay for the re-installation of a new sunroof.

Windshield is very susceptable to cracks. Original windshield was hit with a very small pebble while driving at relatively low speeds (40-45mph). Immediately a crack traveled across the entire length of the windshield. One week later, the same instance occurred and a small pebble created a spider web-like crack.

The contact owns a 2004 toyota corolla. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph the vehicle was jerking and making a loud noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the lug nuts had become loose and recommended the wheels be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle surpassed the statute of limitations. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 79,000.

Took my 2004 toyota corolla le to dealer with complaint of steering wheel vibration at 60-70 mph.dealer stated that i needed spacers (rings) installed on my wheels (when i bought the car i ordered the option of alloy wheels and apparently the dealer never installed them to fit properly.

I started hearing a humming, vibration noise coming from my wheels in november 2007. I took it into the dealership and they replaced the wheel bearings on the r/f. This happened again and again... January 2008 - l/f wheel bearings replaced. June 2008 - r/f wheel bearings replaced. March 2009 - r/f wheel bearings replaced. The noise gets worse at higher speeds and makes me very concerned for my safety.

Thanks
